The National Indoor Arena, home to the Birmingham Grand Prix. 14 world

:00:48.:00:53.

records had been set through the years and 25 British records, a

:00:53.:00:57.

last was more far-out over 5000 metres 12 months ago. And with

:00:58.:01:01.

statistics like that, it is an imposing venue which will be packed

:01:01.:01:06.

very shortly. It isn't hard to see why many believe this is the best

:01:06.:01:15.

one-day meeting anywhere in the world. Jackson is running away from

:01:15.:01:25.
:01:25.:01:36.

equals the British record. Can he hold it together? Yes, he has done

:01:36.:01:43.

it. That is a new world record. This will be a superb performance

:01:43.:01:49.

from Mo Farah, the new British record. And that is a new world

:01:49.:01:59.
:01:59.:02:02.

record. Coming to the line. He has smashed the record! He is flying!

:02:02.:02:11.

Kelly Holmes, coming into the home straight. And she wins again.

:02:11.:02:16.

Welcome to the National Indoor Arena. This is a magnet for the

:02:16.:02:19.

world's greatest athletes and we have seen some surely remarkable

:02:19.:02:23.

performances through the years. No reason to think that this year will

:02:23.:02:27.

be different. With the reputation that this has, there is a full

:02:27.:02:31.

house expected and I am sure the message from the crowd will be more

:02:31.:02:37.

of the same, please. I very much doubt that anybody will leave

:02:37.:02:47.
:02:47.:02:49.

disappointed. It will be gold for Great Britain! That is a new world

:02:49.:02:59.
:02:59.:03:00.

record. He has done it. The gold medal. We have another world

:03:00.:03:10.
:03:10.:03:15.

champion. Gold! Taking silver for Britain... Britain's 4th medal.

:03:15.:03:22.

will not want to miss anything, the first final is at 1:30pm, Jessica

:03:22.:03:26.

Ennis in the 60-metre hurdles and then the women's 800 metres.

:03:26.:03:32.

Marilyn Okoro going for the qualifying time. We can pick and

:03:32.:03:37.

some difference... At the women's 3000 metres should be good. That

:03:38.:03:44.

features the world record holder against Helen Clitheroe. Some very

:03:44.:03:49.

good 1500 metres. Bernard Lagat, and then Hannah England in the

:03:49.:03:54.

women's 1500 metres. The final two events, the way and # Men's 60

:03:54.:04:01.

metres at 4pm. And then the two miles. Good at turning to Denise

:04:01.:04:08.

Lewis and Colin Jackson. Colin, it is your birthday. -- good afternoon.

:04:08.:04:12.

We will focus on the women's pole vault. There have been world

:04:12.:04:18.

records through the years. Both Russian. The next world record

:04:18.:04:22.

holder could very possibly be British. Holly Bleasdale has made

:04:22.:04:26.

an extraordinary start to her year. The new British record of four

:04:26.:04:31.

metres and 87. That is the 4th highest pole vault of all time. The

:04:31.:04:36.

last time she jumped was in the under 20 competition and she

:04:36.:04:41.

finished third with just three metres and 60. This afternoon, she

:04:41.:04:51.
:04:51.:05:20.

is coming in at 4.52. She has been changed? We wanted to qualify for

:05:20.:05:27.

the finals and see what happened on the day. My goal is to this end but

:05:27.:05:32.

I have expectations and the new battle ahead of me, jumping at 87.

:05:32.:05:37.

It isn't just going to be about making the final. I want to jump

:05:37.:05:41.

over 70. That will be enough for the medal, usually. And definitely

:05:41.:05:47.

top six. How important is it that your main rivals know this?

:05:47.:05:52.

Obviously, there was not great last year, people did not know me. I was

:05:52.:05:59.

normally jumping around 50 but now it I will jump 87. The others will

:05:59.:06:03.

know what I have done because Jenifer went 88. It is obviously

:06:03.:06:08.

that she knows how high I have jumped and it is good that they are

:06:08.:06:15.

aware of me. Now there is a full appreciation of just how good you

:06:15.:06:21.

are? People are focusing more? is really good, and doing so well

:06:21.:06:25.

and people are more interested and I am in the media. That is helping

:06:25.:06:30.

rebuild my profile. People are getting behind May and their

:06:30.:06:35.

spurring me on. I can go to a competition and people know to

:06:35.:06:45.
:06:45.:06:49.

applaud. It is high pressure. Pressure is just another word. Some

:06:49.:06:53.

people normally crumble under the pressure but like in Daegu, I did

:06:53.:06:58.

not crumble. In France, everybody was cheering. People would think

:06:58.:07:04.

that you could crumble but I took it and it makes me compete better.

:07:04.:07:08.

I am looking forward to Birmingham and the London Olympics because

:07:08.:07:13.

everybody will be cheering the British and that is why I am so

:07:13.:07:16.

excited and hopefully that will pick me up and make me compete at

:07:16.:07:22.

100%. Denise, Holly says the pressure is just a word. She would

:07:22.:07:26.

just find out over the next three months about that. There is a lot

:07:26.:07:31.

of expectation? There is. And rightly so because she has proven

:07:31.:07:38.

herself. Jumping BD7 it is very big but we need consistency. She

:07:38.:07:45.

announced herself to some of the leading pole vaulters and last year

:07:45.:07:49.

in Daegu, she was very disappointed. Athletics is about experience, good

:07:49.:07:54.

or bad. And that will make her a great athlete in the future. So

:07:54.:08:00.

much potential. And she jumped at 4.87 on the junior event and she

:08:00.:08:05.

has now gone on to the stiffer pole. That will take some while to get

:08:05.:08:12.

used to? You have to get used to it. And it is the density, it is harder

:08:12.:08:16.

to bend so she will have to get used to that but she is big and

:08:16.:08:20.

strong and that is what she knows and she will prove an get those

:08:20.:08:26.

heights by challenging. It is a good thing that she has invested

:08:26.:08:33.

her time and to this. Holly jumping 4.52. In about one hour's time. And

:08:33.:08:37.

before that, we will see Jessica Ennis in the 60 metres, she has

:08:37.:08:43.

been enlightening form? She has, it was a great start to the season.

:08:43.:08:49.

She is wanted just to get it out of her system and she has put together

:08:49.:08:54.

some solid performances, particularly getting back up to

:08:54.:08:59.

jumping at 1.91. That is a real bank for her. Her high jump, the

:08:59.:09:04.

hurdles, we expect strong performances. And she has to face a

:09:04.:09:08.

lot of pressure in these championships. And a number of

:09:08.:09:14.

Russians are performing well and also the Olympic champion? Yes, it

:09:14.:09:18.

is when she pulls in those performances from the bag, we

:09:18.:09:24.

cannot discredit her, the Olympic champion and she recently scored

:09:24.:09:31.

well in the championships. You cannot underestimate her. She is in

:09:31.:09:36.

form. Anything can happen. But I still think that Istanbul and

:09:36.:09:43.

Jessica Ennis, those performances are her strengths. More thorough in

:09:43.:09:51.

the two miles. Here, it could be exactly the same, raising the roof.

:09:51.:09:54.

I caught up afterwards and he said that his lungs were burning

:09:54.:10:00.

afterwards. He needed to use more speed. But I think he will look

:10:01.:10:05.

forward to going to that and having a good go a two miles. There is a

:10:05.:10:10.

British record that he is capable of taking. And adding that to his

:10:10.:10:15.

repertoire. He is a quality athlete and the crowd will be cheering him

:10:15.:10:19.

all the way around. It will be brilliant. He was tarred with the

:10:19.:10:25.

live event coverage, the women's 60 metres. The world champion goes in

:10:25.:10:31.

the first one. Paul Dickenson and Brendan Foster up there and also

:10:31.:10:41.
:10:41.:10:45.

it. It is a sell-out crowd. It promises to be a great afternoon.

:10:45.:10:51.

The women's 60 metres. Certainly want to look out for. Tianna

:10:51.:11:01.
:11:01.:11:33.

that second spot she was there in Sheffield. Bianca Knight, has been

:11:33.:11:43.
:11:43.:11:50.

in good form. S5 macro. -- Bianca Knight. 7.19 this year. Tianna

:11:50.:11:55.

Madison, everybody has been talking about the former world champion.

:11:55.:12:03.

She has come back to Supreme form this year. She only ran 7.18, her

:12:03.:12:13.
:12:13.:12:20.

previous best two years ago. And another new name, Lakya Brookins.

:12:20.:12:29.

And what a great opportunity for Asha Philip. So many injuries since

:12:29.:12:34.

she burst onto the scene but looking good. Other she was

:12:34.:12:44.
:12:44.:12:47.

disqualified in the semi-finals. Ezinne Okparebo. From Norway.

:12:47.:12:50.

Turned on the outside, Katerina Cechova. The first three will go

:12:50.:13:00.
:13:00.:13:02.

through. And the final is at about 2:40pm. The subtext is Laura Turner

:13:02.:13:10.

against Asha Philip. And in the middle, two or three of the world's

:13:10.:13:17.

fastest, including Tianna Madison. Maddison, from Florida, 26 years

:13:17.:13:23.

old. She has never really rediscover that form in the long

:13:23.:13:33.

jump. -- rediscovered. This form she showing indoors is a bit of a

:13:33.:13:41.

surprise. Miners and it's a pretty good start. Also Lakya Brookins.

:13:41.:13:48.

But has not come through and she wins. The top three will go through.

:13:48.:13:57.

That was pretty quick. She looks very calm, doesn't she? When you

:13:57.:14:02.

water, it is all very smooth, Tianna Madison. If she continues

:14:02.:14:05.

this form into the summer, she will have a very big year. Someone we

:14:06.:14:11.

would not really have put into the reckoning. You try to sort out the

:14:11.:14:21.
:14:21.:14:22.

result and look at Asha Philip. Interesting position. Denise?

:14:22.:14:25.

Incredible, I have been looking forward to seeing Tianna Madison.

:14:25.:14:31.

We have heard a lot about her, she had a good start. Very, very fluid

:14:31.:14:36.

athlete. Very composed. She comes through and all she has to do is

:14:36.:14:44.

Crewe's right through to that line. -- cruise. I was looking at Asha

:14:44.:14:50.

Philip. That is a great return to form. Not a bad start. Perhaps

:14:50.:14:54.

feeling the pressure in this field. She lacks experience, she has had a

:14:54.:15:00.

serious injury. But she has been a lovely runner. We talk about young

:15:00.:15:04.

athletes that have come through, she was one that started with huge

:15:04.:15:10.

potential. But that nasty injury to her knee. She tore her ligaments.

:15:10.:15:17.

That means she is behind. But she ran very well. That is a new

:15:17.:15:27.
:15:27.:15:31.

I said there was a subtext there, the three that went through. Two

:15:31.:15:36.

fastest loser spots and Phillips will cross her fingers, better than

:15:36.:15:42.

that she will think she may well have consolidated her place away of

:15:42.:15:52.
:15:52.:15:56.

Laura Turner. Maddison our winner, Hopefully the Jaime for Janet

:15:56.:16:06.
:16:06.:16:10.

Kwakye in the second heat. Phil Jones caught up with Jenny Meadow.

:16:10.:16:15.

Jenny Meadows our start 800 metre runner but not competing today.

:16:15.:16:20.

It's definitely not a position I wanted to be in, I wanted to be

:16:20.:16:26.

here in my tracksuit. I had an injury, it's persisted for a few

:16:26.:16:34.

weeks. I have had to pull out of the meet here. I am an unhappy

:16:34.:16:38.

spectator but looking forward to seeing the event, especially what

:16:38.:16:40.

the British athletes have to deliver today. Does that mean you

:16:41.:16:46.

have to forego the World Champion shfps. I have been putting that

:16:46.:16:50.

decision off. I am still running a lot, I am not able to get into

:16:50.:16:54.

spikes. I am really fit and strong and I can do more or less all the

:16:54.:16:58.

training but only in trainers. Yeah, every week I have been having to

:16:58.:17:04.

pull out of one competition, really pinning my hopes on the next week

:17:04.:17:06.

but I took the decision now. Unfortunately, I won't be able to

:17:06.:17:10.

do the World Championships in Istanbul. It was something I was

:17:10.:17:13.

looking forward to because training this winter has gone incredibly

:17:13.:17:18.

well, but unfortunately I will have to be a spectator at that as well.

:17:18.:17:22.

Dare we say there is a bigger picture, London is what it's all

:17:22.:17:25.

about. You want to be in the perfect shape for that, it sounds

:17:26.:17:31.

like you are heading to that? an athlete, when you are fit and

:17:31.:17:35.

healthy you want to compete and it's always a mental challenge to

:17:35.:17:39.

do that. I love the indoor season. I feel I own some of the tracks,

:17:39.:17:42.

Glasgow every year I enjoy doing that and competing here in

:17:42.:17:45.

Birmingham, but everyone keeps saying there is a bigger picture.

:17:45.:17:50.

If you can choose, obviously you are going to choose London. That's

:17:50.:17:53.

what I have to remember. I am really fit and strong and all my

:17:53.:17:55.

training does indicate that. I have not actually had to stop training

:17:55.:18:00.

with the injury, it's just I am not able to actually wear spikes and

:18:00.:18:04.

run at race pace in competitive races. All the signs are there,

:18:04.:18:08.

they're all good and hopefully I will not be a spectator for the

:18:08.:18:14.

rest of the season. One final word on what it's like being down here

:18:14.:18:18.

as a non-competing athlete, you see see nerves and tension and some

:18:19.:18:22.

people relaxed? Exactly, I know how everyone is feeling definitely. I

:18:22.:18:25.

always think when you watch on television you just see the

:18:25.:18:29.

athletes racing and you don't get to see what goes on before and you

:18:29.:18:33.

are right, everyone's personalities are different. Some people are

:18:33.:18:37.

chilled out and very confident. Some people are quite shaky and

:18:37.:18:41.

look nervous. Obviously adrenalin's kicking in. But it is interesting

:18:41.:18:45.

to see how people cope with different reactions to that. But on

:18:45.:18:49.

the track they all come and give their best performance, no matter

:18:49.:18:53.

how they're feeling. Yeah, it's funny watching as a spectator, but

:18:53.:18:56.

I am sure a lot of them now are ready to compete and I am sure it's

:18:56.:18:59.

going to be a great day of athletics. Let's hope so. Good luck

:18:59.:19:02.

with the recovery, thank you for talking to us.

:19:02.:19:12.
:19:12.:19:12.

Good luck indeed. Nice coat Jenny has got on I thought! Next up

:19:12.:19:15.

Jeanette Kwakye. She seems to get it right in Olympic form. I am

:19:15.:19:19.

hoping she can avoid all injuries. She's had a great return to form.

:19:19.:19:23.

This race is a tough qualification for her. She doesn't go in here as

:19:23.:19:26.

the fastest, I am looking forward to seeing her getting through this

:19:26.:19:30.

safely and perhaps get a season's best, which may be needed. Paul,

:19:30.:19:34.

it's all yours. Thank you very much indeed,

:19:34.:19:38.

Jonathan. Colin took the words out of my

:19:38.:19:42.

mouth there, she's surrounded by classy athletes, three of them have

:19:42.:19:52.
:19:52.:19:53.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:19:53.:20:35.

run faster than Jeanette this year. she has run already this year.

:20:35.:20:38.

Barbara Pierre has dual citizenship with Haiti.

:20:38.:20:43.

She used to run for that country until 2010 and reverted back to the

:20:43.:20:47.

United States. One of the fastest women in Europe,

:20:47.:20:57.

Aoeu vet Lalova. She's run a swift 7.16 this year.

:20:57.:21:03.

And Jeanette Kwakye looking for a season's best. She wants to bring

:21:03.:21:10.

the time down. The former world indoor medallist at 60M.

:21:10.:21:18.

One of the best women in the world, Aleen Bailey of Jamaica. She runs

:21:18.:21:28.
:21:28.:21:29.

in relays, 200 M or 60M. Candyce McGrone of the United

:21:29.:21:37.

States, useful at this distance. And Sooriyaarachchi, former Welsh

:21:37.:21:43.

indoor champion, now based in Slovakia.

:21:43.:21:52.

7.39 she has run this year. It's a real test for Jeanette

:21:52.:21:58.

Kwakye, when she ran in Glasgow, she got a blistering start. A real

:21:58.:22:01.

solo effort. You get the feeling she's going to have to repeat that

:22:01.:22:05.

sort of performance, even to make it through to the final. The first

:22:05.:22:13.

three will go through automatically, plus two fastest losers. Kwakye is

:22:13.:22:23.
:22:23.:22:30.

well. So too is Williams. Lalova gets it just on the line from

:22:30.:22:36.

Williams in two. Jean set going to have to wait and see.

:22:36.:22:43.

7.23 by Lalova means that Asha Philip will qualify as a fastest

:22:43.:22:46.

loser, that's what she ran in the fast heat. So this heat slower than

:22:46.:22:50.

heat one. Well, we will have to wait and see

:22:50.:22:53.

whether Jeanette makes it through. What do you think of the winner,

:22:53.:23:00.

Denise? Well, Lalova, we expect her to be bullet-like out of the blocks

:23:00.:23:06.

but not a brilliant start by her. Williams seemed to get the measure

:23:06.:23:12.

of her, but again Lalova relaxed in her form, eases through the field.

:23:12.:23:19.

And takes the veer. -- victory. think Jeanette will be very, very

:23:19.:23:23.

disappointed with that run. She didn't have the best start. She ran

:23:23.:23:28.

very well in Glasgow, great from the first foot, but just got - let

:23:28.:23:34.

the girls get away from her there. Here we see here out of the blocks,

:23:34.:23:38.

really driving hard but the girls are already a metre away head of

:23:38.:23:42.

her and possibly a little bit too much tension in Jeanette's

:23:42.:23:46.

shoulders there. She's not as relaxed as we are used to seeing

:23:46.:23:53.

her run. That showed in her performance.

:23:53.:23:56.

Jeanette is looking over the big screen there and seeing that replay.

:23:56.:24:00.

What did you think? It wasn't a great run at all, if I am honest. I

:24:00.:24:06.

probably still suffering from last week and I knew I would come here

:24:06.:24:10.

and have to take what I get and probably have to go back to

:24:10.:24:13.

training and get ready for the Worlds. The overall picture for you

:24:13.:24:17.

right now, are you pleased with the way it's heading towards that?

:24:17.:24:22.

I am. In terms of how I am heading towards it and I knew with the

:24:22.:24:24.

training at the moment it was always going to be touch and go

:24:24.:24:29.

with this knee. We will see how we go. Got a few weeks of training to

:24:29.:24:33.

get ready, should be fine. The key is to get below your best this

:24:33.:24:37.

season, down in the mix for the Worlds? I need to get back into

:24:37.:24:45.

good PB shape. All the best, thank you.

:24:45.:24:48.

Well, a big disappointment from Jeanette there. We didn't expect

:24:48.:24:52.

that I have to say. No, we didn't. But you can never gauge. Indoors is

:24:52.:24:57.

always an interesting one for the athletes, because the focus has to

:24:57.:25:01.

be about the the Olympics and she wants to go to Istanbul, but you

:25:01.:25:04.

have to train hard. You can't afford to let the training and the

:25:04.:25:08.

real solid training that you need to carry over to make sure you make

:25:08.:25:14.

that transition into the outdoor season. So, I think she will

:25:14.:25:18.

recover. She needs to do more speed work. She looked heavy and rusty

:25:18.:25:21.

for me. Nonetheless, still worrying for an athlete to suddenly lose

:25:21.:25:26.

form quite so dramatically. Like you said, to lose form dramatically.

:25:26.:25:29.

The reality is Jean set a great athlete and you can't lose form

:25:29.:25:32.

overnight. Sometimes things don't click. She didn't have the best

:25:32.:25:37.

start at all. The reaction was pretty poor itself. If you look at

:25:37.:25:45.

the women around her, Lalova who didn't have a great start was still

:25:45.:25:49.

ahead. She was under pressure right from the get-go and it was

:25:49.:25:53.

difficult for her to claw her way back through. If I was her I would

:25:53.:25:57.

say no panic, no worries at this moment, you still have loads of

:25:57.:26:01.

time to get things right for Istanbul. We know she is a quality

:26:01.:26:08.

athlete. She has run 7.20. So, if I was Jeanette I would say OK, I had

:26:08.:26:12.

a bad race today, everybody will have a bad performance and let's

:26:12.:26:15.

see what happens in Istanbul. Because everybody will forget

:26:15.:26:20.

Birmingham if she does well in Istanbul. The key is not to panic.

:26:20.:26:25.

Jeanette, I am sure she's wintered well. She has zip in her legs, just

:26:25.:26:30.

not today. She will be fine, I am sure. Let's hope so. Next up it's

:26:30.:26:40.
:26:40.:26:50.

Jessica Ennis heading for home. Nobody else can live with the pace

:26:50.:26:58.

of Jessica Ennis. Heading for gold! She just keeps going from strength

:26:58.:27:05.

to strength. Let's make no mistake here, Denise,

:27:05.:27:10.

Jessica is world-class at the hurdles. She is and this is every

:27:10.:27:20.
:27:20.:27:22.

hurdler's nightmare, where an help help - decides to take them on. She

:27:22.:27:27.

great shape. In terms of lists equal fourth with Danielle

:27:27.:27:32.

Carruthers down here. Danielle will not like that at all. We know

:27:32.:27:38.

Jessica is sa great 60M hurdler, she will start really well. She is

:27:38.:27:44.

confident, her performances show that. She will need a good run.

:27:44.:27:49.

Danielle Carruthers will not want to lose to Jessica Ennis.

:27:49.:27:55.

Absolutely. It's a nightmare. I used to love love stepping in and

:27:55.:27:59.

doing 60m to upset some of the sprinters. It's part of her

:27:59.:28:03.

preparation. It's great she can run well and competitively against the

:28:03.:28:13.
:28:13.:28:14.

best when she's only a heptathle. Steve Cram is calling this one.

:28:14.:28:20.

Thank you, Jonathan. Just to clear up the result from the women's 60,

:28:20.:28:30.
:28:30.:28:40.

Jeanette in her third outing of the winter 7.33 down in 7th place, so

:28:40.:28:44.

there we have the finalists in order, not in lane order but the

:28:44.:28:54.
:28:54.:29:03.

Now the women's 60 hurdles final. Intriguing race between the

:29:03.:29:09.

specialists Danielle Carruthers, who had a superb year last year,

:29:09.:29:14.

and Jessica Ennis, who obviously wants this event to go well, not

:29:14.:29:18.

only here but through the rest of the year, indoors and outdoors.

:29:18.:29:28.
:29:28.:29:47.

It's one of the key events. fast this year. Angela Whyte has

:29:47.:29:53.

run faster in the past. Loreal Smith. She set a personal best this

:29:53.:30:01.

year. She was disqualified in her last meeting in France last weekend.

:30:01.:30:07.

Last weekend, Jessica Ennis had a very successful UK trials. And it

:30:07.:30:17.
:30:17.:30:17.

very good shot put. She was pleased with that. Great reception from the

:30:17.:30:27.
:30:27.:30:34.

crowd. Danielle Carruthers, what a very good year she has had. M5

:30:34.:30:44.
:30:44.:30:46.

macro. -- Nikkita Holder. A new personal best. Phylicia George.

:30:46.:30:51.

Another good season last year. She made the final in Daegu. She did

:30:51.:30:56.

not done particularly well in the final. Lucie Skrobakova. From the

:30:57.:31:04.

Czech Republic. 30 years of age. She has a record holder. And on the

:31:04.:31:09.

outside, Gemma Bennett. She finished second to Jessica Ennis

:31:09.:31:19.
:31:19.:31:24.

last weekend. Can Jessica Ennis poach this event? And watch

:31:24.:31:32.

Carruthers. She let's out a little scream as she goes over every

:31:32.:31:37.

hurdle. Danielle Carruthers wants to build on what was a good year

:31:37.:31:43.

for her last year. Jessica Ennis, it is so important that she runs

:31:43.:31:53.
:31:53.:32:02.

well over the hurdles. Jessica start. Jessica Ennis and Danielle

:32:02.:32:09.

Carruthers! Victory! What a performance from Jessica Ennis!

:32:10.:32:14.

That is a big personal best. Only Tiffany Porter, the American, has

:32:14.:32:19.

ever run faster indoors. That is the quickest in the world this year.

:32:19.:32:23.

And that is a very good job forward. If anything, Danielle Carruthers

:32:24.:32:29.

had a better start but only for the first three or four strides because

:32:29.:32:33.

after that it was all about Jessica Ennis. Carruthers did come back and

:32:33.:32:37.

she will be pleased with their time but not at having come second to

:32:37.:32:45.

Jessica Ennis and even Jessica cannot believe this. She is stunned.

:32:45.:32:49.

That is a brilliant event and there might be something in her head

:32:49.:32:52.

saying, I wish I could do this event in the world indoor

:32:52.:33:01.

championships. Denise? Jessica NS! What majestic hurdling. Her

:33:01.:33:07.

composure. I am just amazed, we used to seeing her one good times

:33:07.:33:15.

but she has been stuck on a 7.95 for so long. So coming out here to

:33:15.:33:18.

set the new personal best, that is just the start that she needs for

:33:18.:33:24.

Istanbul. Beautiful technique, keeping her rhythm going and no

:33:24.:33:31.

pressure. You can see Danielle Carruthers. Aggressive. She is

:33:31.:33:36.

usually screaming. She makes so much noise. In contrast, Jessica

:33:36.:33:45.

Ennis, smooth and fluid and just a power house. Textbook curdling.

:33:45.:33:55.
:33:55.:33:55.

Right there. And her reaction really says it all. 7.87. That is a

:33:55.:34:03.

new personal best for Jessica Ennis, well done. Here is a woman of the

:34:03.:34:09.

moment. What a fantastic performance. Reaction? I am

:34:09.:34:12.

literally in shock. I knew the training was going well and I have

:34:13.:34:16.

been working on my start but to run that time in Birmingham is

:34:16.:34:21.

brilliant. Danielle Carruthers on the outside, she is a specialist,

:34:21.:34:26.

so that was going to push you. Did you feel that? It was great to come

:34:26.:34:29.

here because they knew it was going to be a very strong field and to

:34:29.:34:36.

run against Danielle Carruthers pushed me. Coming here, can you

:34:36.:34:42.

ever imagine doing this? World- leading? It is incredible, to come

:34:42.:34:48.

here and run 7.94, personal best, I would have been over the moon. It

:34:48.:34:57.

is incredible. I am speechless! will talk later. Good luck with the

:34:57.:35:07.
:35:07.:35:11.

but nonetheless, still the world's quickest this year and that is a

:35:11.:35:14.

season best for Danielle Carruthers. She would normally be happy but not

:35:14.:35:22.

at coming second. Phylicia George just stick 10 for third place. --

:35:22.:35:32.
:35:32.:35:34.

Estate in. -- sneaked in. That is an exceptional time. From that very

:35:34.:35:39.

young age, I have been saying to Jessica Ennis, come to the hurdles.

:35:39.:35:44.

Belief in yourself. And you can see why, she is tremendous. Excellent

:35:44.:35:49.

technically, very good under pressure and she has that flawless

:35:49.:35:53.

technique, what happens with Jessica is when pressure comes, she

:35:53.:35:58.

does not falter, she keeps her focus. Her leg comes right in front

:35:58.:36:03.

and bang, or she goes. She drives towards that line. That is what

:36:03.:36:08.

makes the difference and that shows someone who is a very natural

:36:08.:36:12.

hurdler, no concerns about anything else, we know how fast and

:36:12.:36:19.

explosive she is. She demonstrates that very well in the high jump.

:36:19.:36:23.

Look at that in the coming cleanly in front, she puts herself into the

:36:23.:36:29.

straight line. Any young hurdler should really watch that and say,

:36:29.:36:33.

that is what I want to do. isn't fazed by having the world

:36:33.:36:39.

silver medallist next to her? bodes well. She welcome under

:36:39.:36:44.

pressure this year. But what we have seen from Jessica N S so far

:36:44.:36:50.

is that she thrives on pressure. She enjoys it. And that performance

:36:50.:36:56.

was really incredible. -- Jessica Ennis. The long jump will be a very

:36:56.:37:03.

key event? Absolutely, she had To debut but it was inconsistent. She

:37:03.:37:08.

has not found the form that I would like to see. That consistent long

:37:08.:37:14.

jumping, she is erratic. That is a very important event. With those

:37:14.:37:19.

hurdles, that will take her down to the 12.7 mark and when you talk

:37:19.:37:23.

about him tablets at the beginning, she has found a massive cushion. --

heptathlete. Next up, one of the world's greatest sprinters. Not

:37:32.:37:37.

quite the medal Cabinet to match. Not used to being seen indoors. It

:37:37.:37:45.

is Asafa Powell. Or what made you decide to compete? If it was up to

:37:45.:37:55.
:37:55.:37:59.

me, I would not be here. My coach, my manager makes the decisions.

:37:59.:38:02.

thought at the end of a campaign would benefit you in the long term

:38:02.:38:11.

heading towards London? Well, yes. It is something new. -- and into a

:38:11.:38:19.

campaign. If something isn't wrong, do not fix it. We are trying to get

:38:19.:38:24.

the ball rolling early. Get everything going. Trying to be

:38:24.:38:33.

consistent. Trying to get the start perfect and get everything right.

:38:33.:38:38.

Last year and was having a great season. I was running very well. I

:38:38.:38:47.

was very confident. But then I got injured. But I was still training

:38:47.:38:53.

in the background. But running indoors, this is my second time in

:38:53.:39:02.

spikes. Since last September. It should be fun. We talk about the

:39:02.:39:08.

Jim Aiken clean sweep on the final line. How realistic is that? Most

:39:08.:39:15.

of the fastest men in the world, yes. And we are running very fast.

:39:15.:39:20.

The men are very confident. Hopefully we can have some breaks

:39:20.:39:27.

in the finals, if not one or two in the final. That would mean a lot

:39:27.:39:35.

for the British. The as ever, fairly relaxed, Asafa Powell. You

:39:35.:39:40.

get the feeling that if he isn't on top form in the summer, he might

:39:40.:39:50.
:39:50.:39:52.

not get to represent. Asafa Powell will want to come out and a very

:39:52.:40:02.
:40:02.:40:02.

good indoor season. He has had a good start already. The first three

:40:02.:40:06.

will go through to the final just after 4 o'clock. This is very

:40:06.:40:13.

competitive. The subtext of the put a selection, that comes into play.

:40:13.:40:23.

world champion and the bronze medallist, Kim Collins. 35 years of

:40:34.:40:43.

age. Great to see him in the UK. And he helped his team to that's a

:40:43.:40:47.

prize relay medal last year in Daegu. Asafa Powell, he missed out

:40:47.:40:56.

through injury. He has run one indoor race in New York. He ran a

:40:56.:40:59.

personal best and has already run outdoors in a relay event in

:40:59.:41:09.

Jamaica. G e10 macro. -- Trell Kimmons. Daniel Bailey. And we talk

:41:24.:41:29.

about that St Kitts and Nevis relay team, led by Kim Collins. This man.

:41:39.:41:42.

He was on the third leg. And this is Greg Cackett from Belgrade

:41:42.:41:52.
:41:52.:41:55.

Harriers. That was a big race from him. Nobody has run under 10

:41:55.:42:03.

seconds for 100 metres more than this man. The first 60-metre race

:42:03.:42:10.

for Asafa Powell. Just the heat. He wants to make sure that he

:42:10.:42:20.
:42:20.:42:23.

qualifies in the top three. Collins is next to him. Then Trell Kimmons.

:42:23.:42:33.
:42:33.:42:47.

Absolutely silent at the indoor He has been in reasonable form this

international match. That was a below one 10th of the second is

:43:42.:43:51.

Asafa Powell there were looks stressed. -- never looks. Never any

:43:51.:44:01.
:44:01.:44:19.

start from Asafa Powell. Collins has done well but here comes Asafa

:44:19.:44:26.

Powell storming through to qualify. Asafa Powell, Kim Collins and Trell

:44:26.:44:32.

Kimmons. Let's look at the clock. If you suggested it is, the initial

:44:32.:44:38.

time that came up was 7.85 and that was rounded up. That would

:44:38.:44:45.

represent a personal best if it was confirmed. When the results come up.

:44:45.:44:49.

We were just wait for confirmation. That was a quick run from Asafa

:44:49.:44:54.

Powell and that would put him at the top of the world list. We saw

:44:55.:44:59.

that whatever the time will be, it'll be a personal best. Not the

:44:59.:45:03.

best start from Asafa Powell, we usually see him being more

:45:03.:45:07.

explosive out of the blocks but he is very beautifully fluid. So early

:45:07.:45:12.

in the season and he is looking like a very good contender for a

:45:12.:45:16.

medal at the Olympic Games later this year. He does not really love

:45:16.:45:20.

indoors. Which I really think is quite unusual because he has a

:45:20.:45:24.

powerful start but he is looking good and everybody will be waiting

:45:24.:45:34.
:45:34.:45:48.

to see what the official time will competition. JJ Jegede. That's

:45:48.:45:56.

impressive. That's exactly what he produced last week in Sheffield.

:45:56.:46:03.

Seven metres 96. That appears to be a similar type of distance. And

:46:03.:46:12.

should well give him the lead. Plenty of room to give away on the

:46:12.:46:22.

board. The leading mark at the moment 7.77.

:46:22.:46:29.

This jump from Jegede should challenge it. He takes the lead.

:46:29.:46:34.

There is Holly Bleasdale, preparing to enter the women's pole vault

:46:34.:46:44.
:46:44.:46:44.

competition. She will open at 4.52. Still yet to enter the competition.

:46:44.:46:47.

So, Holly Bleasdale very much the athlete of the moment in the

:46:47.:46:57.

women's pole vault, but Lucie Bryan, perhaps a name for the future. Got

:46:57.:47:03.

a lifetime best of 4.11. Sensational clearance from this 16-

:47:03.:47:08.

year-old. She will take huge confidence from that, a lifetime

:47:08.:47:15.

best, Lucy Bryan, definitely a name for the future.

:47:15.:47:20.

That's a bit of a breakthrough, not just in terms of height, but also

:47:20.:47:30.
:47:30.:47:36.

against this quality of opposition. Back to the men's long jump.

:47:36.:47:46.
:47:46.:47:47.

Godfrey Mokoena. Seven metres 86 by the UK champion JJ Jegede, but

:47:47.:47:54.

Mokoena with that premen douse height character -- tre men --

:47:54.:47:58.

tremendous height. Plenty to spare on the board for the South African

:47:58.:48:02.

record holder. He really is a magnificent sight

:48:02.:48:11.

when he is in full flow. Again he will be out towards the 8m mark

:48:12.:48:21.
:48:22.:48:41.

with his effort. Should be well a little slower at 6.50 but a a

:48:41.:48:45.

personal best. A price that's a personal best for Powell tpwu

:48:45.:48:53.

equals the fastest in the world this year and Collins in second and

:48:53.:49:01.

Kimmons, the three qualifiers. JJ Jegede psyching himself up for

:49:01.:49:09.

this round two effort. Sound his round one mark bettered by Godfrey

:49:09.:49:13.

Mokoena. How will this young athlete respond to the gauntlet

:49:13.:49:17.

that's been thrown down by the South African? 26 years old now.

:49:18.:49:23.

Has a full winter of training behind him for the first time ever.

:49:23.:49:29.

He's gone beyond the eight metre mark! Will we get the white flag?

:49:29.:49:34.

He likes that. He has entered brand new territory indoors, beyond eight

:49:34.:49:41.

metres for the first time. We will await confirmation, and if it is

:49:41.:49:46.

confirmed then that will be the leading mark for him. Still a fair

:49:46.:49:52.

amount to spare on the board. Even though he is the UK champion, he's

:49:52.:49:56.

-- his place not yet confirmed for the world indoors in Turkey,

:49:56.:50:03.

because the standard is a challenging 8.15. But recognition

:50:04.:50:13.
:50:14.:50:14.

of his personal best, 8.04. Fantastic jump. Getting ready now

:50:14.:50:22.

for the next heat of the men's 60m and that jump by JJ Jegede, fifth

:50:22.:50:32.
:50:32.:50:50.

longest ever by a British athlete look now at Josh Swaray. Fifth at

:50:50.:50:59.

the UK Indoors 60 last weekend. Harry AA, former world youth and

:50:59.:51:02.

world junior champion at 100 metres, still making his way in the senior

:51:02.:51:08.

ranks, but looking pretty good so far this year. The first of three

:51:08.:51:18.
:51:18.:51:25.

very good Jamaicans, Michael Frater, silver medallist in 2005. Then

:51:25.:51:32.

Lerone Clarke. He's won both his outings this year, his best so far

:51:32.:51:38.

6.50. Top of the world rankings. The third Jamaican, Nesta Carter,

:51:38.:51:47.

hasn't run indoors this year. Best Briton in this field, Andrew

:51:47.:51:52.

Robertson, second in the UK indoor championships last week. Looking

:51:52.:52:02.
:52:02.:52:04.

better and better throughout 2012. Angel David Rodriguez of Spain.

:52:04.:52:14.
:52:14.:52:14.

6.64 he has run this year. And familiar Dutchman next, Brian

:52:14.:52:24.
:52:24.:52:25.

Mariano. Certainly some stiff opposition for the three Britons in

:52:25.:52:33.

this race. Andrew Robertson, next to Carter in lane six, has actually

:52:33.:52:43.
:52:43.:52:50.

beaten the IAAF effort to go to his way to the final as one of the

:52:50.:52:57.

top three. Good start there by Frater. Chased

:52:57.:53:03.

by Clarke. Look at this. Wow, that was way, way ahead of anybody else.

:53:03.:53:09.

Clarke and Carter coming through together. 6 6.50. That equals the

:53:09.:53:13.

fastest time in the world this year. Those two Jamaicans absolutely

:53:13.:53:19.

flying. Very impressive indeed. Looks very

:53:19.:53:29.
:53:29.:53:31.

relaxed about it, does Nesta Carter. That was impressive, Colin.

:53:31.:53:36.

certainly was, Paul. Very, very impressive sprinting by Nesta

:53:36.:53:40.

Carter and also Clarke. Clarke came into this competition as the

:53:40.:53:44.

fastest man in the world, but Carter dealt with him very

:53:44.:53:47.

comfortably and of course Asafa Powell will be waiting and watching

:53:47.:53:52.

this to see who his major rival will be in that final, but it looks

:53:52.:54:00.

very much it could be a Jamaican clean sweep. One, two, three.

:54:00.:54:04.

Carter took that very comfortably indeed. From the blocks, it was a

:54:04.:54:08.

pretty even start all round but Carter seems very controlled, very

:54:08.:54:12.

composed, doesn't seem like he is worried at all in any shape or form.

:54:12.:54:15.

Clarke just gave him a little bit of a glance as they cross the line,

:54:16.:54:21.

which is always funny to see. Let's look at Robertson. He is the

:54:21.:54:26.

fastest Brit in the line-up. He worked very well, very hard. He

:54:26.:54:30.

knows he is under pressure because he wants to do this actual time to

:54:31.:54:38.

get him through to Istanbul. He just misses out on the time. 6 6.69,

:54:38.:54:40.

will be a little bit disappointed with that.

:54:40.:54:50.

I am here with Nesta Carter, 6.51. It shows you the strength and depth

:54:50.:54:56.

in Jamaican sprinting right now. We saw what Powell just done. We have

:54:56.:54:59.

Bolt and Blake. Tell me what it's like to be part of that team.

:54:59.:55:05.

really good to be part of the top sprinters in Jamaica, competing

:55:05.:55:10.

with them and training along with them. It's a really good to be

:55:10.:55:13.

among them. And this kind of performance from you shows you

:55:13.:55:17.

shouldn't be the forgotten man of Jamaican sprinting. Yeah, I just

:55:18.:55:21.

come out here to try and get to the finals and then I take it from

:55:21.:55:26.

there. See what you can do there. We wish you well, thank you for

:55:26.:55:35.

talking to us. Asafa Powell did the whole am I bothered kind of thing

:55:35.:55:38.

before and he clearly was, Colin. It's lovely to see the top

:55:38.:55:42.

sprinters in the world competing here. It's been a long time since

:55:42.:55:47.

the best world sprinters out there, so it's great that Poulaphouca has

:55:47.:55:51.

joined -- Asafa Powell joined us but he looked very controlled and

:55:51.:55:58.

composed. He didn't get the explosive start we could expect.

:55:58.:56:03.

Once he gets into that running, when he puts in that big stride he

:56:03.:56:06.

eases away from the field very comfortably indeed. He will

:56:06.:56:10.

probably look at that and think I could go very close... That's right.

:56:10.:56:16.

He didn't get out fast as you say, we know he can start. The final,

:56:16.:56:23.

maybe something quite special. There's three Jamaicans more to

:56:23.:56:27.

come into this final line-up and he trains with Nesta Carter so he

:56:27.:56:30.

knows what he can deal with. So it's going to be an interesting

:56:31.:56:37.

final but it's good to see. really do struggle with his

:56:37.:56:42.

attitude. I think as a sprinter you need to have a little bit more

:56:42.:56:47.

about you and I just think he needs to be a bit more honest.

:56:48.:56:51.

definitely agree with you. He is going to need to be on his way to

:56:51.:56:56.

beat these guys. And Clarke was the man we were talking about going

:56:56.:57:01.

into this but Carter, lovely running action, very strong. I just

:57:01.:57:05.

think that final promises to be pretty special. Yes, we will see

:57:05.:57:08.

that Jamaican record being broken again, I do believe. We vice-

:57:08.:57:11.

president even got the best two here and they're going to run away

:57:12.:57:16.

with this. That's what is quite astounding, the strength of

:57:16.:57:19.

Jamaican sprinting at the moment. Absolutely. They have to run so

:57:19.:57:22.

hard in their trials to make the Olympic team itself because they'll

:57:23.:57:27.

know virtually they're guaranteed a gold medal in a relay if they do

:57:27.:57:30.

not drop that baton, of course you want to be in that team itself.

:57:30.:57:33.

It's going to be very competitive and I am looking forward to the

:57:33.:57:36.

summer. They're all running very well indeed. It's going to be

:57:36.:57:39.

exceptional. Don't forget the Americans. You mentioned the summer,

:57:39.:57:43.

we can mark your card on what's coming up. We also have the London

:57:43.:57:50.

marathon in April and the great Manchester run in May. And the

:57:50.:57:53.

Great North Run. Obviously in the summer the domestic meetings,

:57:53.:57:58.

tickets are available. We have Diamond League coverage and the

:57:58.:58:08.
:58:08.:58:36.

Olympic Games. But still to come the two miles.

:58:36.:58:40.

There's confirmation of the result. Carter's time has been dropped by

:58:40.:58:44.

100th of a second. Nevertheless, one of the fastest in the world

:58:44.:58:51.

this year and new lifetime best. Jamaica occupying the first three

:58:51.:58:53.

places. Robertson in fourth, unfortunately he won't make it

:58:53.:58:57.

through to the final. Nevertheless, a good run and Great Britain

:58:57.:59:05.

finishing in 7th and 8th place. That's all leaving us with a mouth-

:59:05.:59:11.

watering final in prospect. Powell tops the list with a personal best.

:59:11.:59:15.

Carter 100th behind and Clarke just behind. The three Jamaicans on top

:59:15.:59:24.

of what looks like a top level, top quality 60m final after 4.00.

:59:24.:59:34.
:59:34.:59:47.

The bar is set at four metres 52 in attempts to come at this height.

:59:47.:59:54.

That means that next on the runway will be Holly Bleasdale. Rogowska

:59:54.:00:01.

:00:01.:00:05.

competition this year. Her and Holly Bleasdale have already been

:00:05.:00:15.
:00:15.:00:21.

head to head at another meeting. first time this afternoon, Holly

:00:21.:00:30.

Bleasdale, who cleared 4.87 in Lyon. And the UK Indoor Championships

:00:30.:00:38.

last weekend, as well. Her first attempt of the afternoon. And it so

:00:38.:00:45.

much room to spare over the top of the bar. But just didn't get it

:00:45.:00:50.

right. But still, the distance she had over the top suggests there is

:00:50.:01:00.

plenty more to come. Absolutely. A study of a very complex event

:01:00.:01:07.

indeed. Polly Bleasdale, two more attempts. There is her coach. She

:01:07.:01:11.

has improved 30 centimetres every year since 2009. If she does that

:01:12.:01:19.

again this year, she could break the world record. Watching Polly

:01:19.:01:24.

Bleasdale, one of the big stars of this meeting this afternoon. The

:01:24.:01:34.

Masna. Elisa Cusma She won a medal in the indoor championships of 2009.

:02:24.:02:30.

Marilyn Okoro, last week, in Sheffield, went really hard and

:02:30.:02:35.

faded rather badly. She is on her own of. She will hope that the key

:02:35.:02:41.

Griffiths can lead it out at a pace she can follow. -- Vicky Griffiths.

:02:41.:02:48.

She will try to win the race but it will be tough with Morgan Uceny in

:02:48.:02:55.

it. She was very unlucky last year but tripped over. She's already had

:02:55.:03:02.

a couple of good races. And there is Tara Bird, second at UK

:03:02.:03:08.

championships last week. They have asked for a pretty swift 58 seconds

:03:08.:03:18.
:03:18.:03:26.

to run a race. She likes to go out hard. Maybe the tactics today might

:03:27.:03:30.

be wiser to sit off the pace a little bit. Griffiths, the early

:03:30.:03:37.

leader. Marilyn Okoro in 6th place at the moment. I would suggest

:03:37.:03:43.

something around 59 seconds would suit her better. Marilyn Okoro will

:03:43.:03:53.
:03:53.:03:54.

be happy the pacemaker is drifting them along at a good pace. Morgan

:03:54.:03:57.

Uceny She was the favoured last year but fell over in the race and

:03:57.:04:04.

sadly, not in a position to compete. Marilyn Okoro, moving up alongside

:04:04.:04:10.

Morgan Uceny. It will be interesting to see them come

:04:10.:04:14.

through the 400-metre point. The rest of the field have not followed

:04:15.:04:21.

that. Well over 64 Marilyn Okoro. That will be interesting to see if

:04:21.:04:27.

she can work off this, because this is much more sensible, rather than

:04:27.:04:34.

running 56, 54. And now Marilyn Okoro is in a good place, gliding

:04:34.:04:41.

alongside Morgan Uceny. Can she attack from there? Marilyn Okoro in

:04:41.:04:46.

second place. The experienced athlete putting yourself into a

:04:46.:04:55.

good place, Cusma. Marilyn Okoro has to hang on and get a time I did

:04:55.:05:05.
:05:05.:05:07.

this. Morgan Uceny, she is looking dangerous. And if so is Angelika

:05:07.:05:14.

Cichocka. She is hanging on are looking for the tie, Marilyn Okoro.

:05:14.:05:21.

Angelika Cichocka, she is going to take this one on the line. Marilyn

:05:21.:05:25.

Okoro I would suggest will get at 2.35 qualifying time. She was not

:05:25.:05:32.

that far behind. A surprise victory there. She is a very, very good

:05:32.:05:37.

Polish athlete. She ran a very good race last week. It was that

:05:37.:05:47.

strength which brought it through to the finish there. Uceny, a

:05:47.:05:51.

disappointing. I thought she would have more to offer. I thought

:05:51.:05:58.

Marilyn Okoro was being a run out there. An official time of. Godot

:05:58.:06:08.

sorry, and an official time of two minutes and two seconds. This

:06:08.:06:11.

leaves something to think about. Here they come down the back

:06:12.:06:21.
:06:22.:06:23.

straight. The Italian strikes out. At this point, Uceny looks like she

:06:23.:06:31.

has got the race at one of. But Cichocka comes through. It's a

:06:31.:06:39.

great finish. Marilyn Okoro rallied in the last 50 metres. 2.06. Well,

:06:39.:06:43.

hopefully, the selectors will take note of that and that could give

:06:43.:06:47.

her a chance to run in the world indoor championships in a couple of

:06:47.:06:53.

weeks' time. That's the qualifying time for the World Championships

:06:53.:06:58.

taken care of. As for the race itself, it would give you food for

:06:58.:07:04.

thought, as well? Yes, I want to race again. That's the time taken

:07:04.:07:11.

care of. I've had two runs on my own. I felt fresh there. You know,

:07:11.:07:15.

these girls had a good race the other week, all of them. It's good

:07:15.:07:19.

to be in the next. I got myself into a horrible position where I

:07:19.:07:27.

wanted to strike. But, no, that was encouraging. What will you do from

:07:27.:07:35.

here until his stumble in March? I'm in Birmingham up tomorrow. --

:07:35.:07:40.

East and ball. I will be doing some speed work. If I can, I will get

:07:40.:07:50.
:07:50.:07:50.

another race. We look feared -- forward to seeing the me there. --

:07:50.:07:55.

seen you there. Thank you very much. The a more even paced race from

:07:55.:08:01.

Marilyn. Sometimes she goes out quite hard. She did last week. 60

:08:01.:08:07.

and 62, much better from Marilyn. She has been given third place.

:08:07.:08:16.

That's not right. We will Clare all of that up. The winner was Poland.

:08:16.:08:26.
:08:26.:08:27.

Second attempt at four metres 52 for Polly Bleasdale. How can she

:08:27.:08:35.

respond here? Oh! That was not as close as the first attempt. She

:08:35.:08:40.

finds herself under a spot of pressure. She has been magnificent

:08:40.:08:50.
:08:50.:08:52.

all indoor season all long. An opening height of four metres, 52.

:08:52.:08:56.

Next, the men's 60-metre hurdles. Unfortunately, no Andy Turner but

:08:56.:09:01.

thanks for joining us her. Tamesue of fitness situation. I'm getting

:09:01.:09:07.

better. I had an injection and three weeks of rehab us on getting

:09:07.:09:11.

back to strength. Hopefully I will be back training this week. It's

:09:11.:09:20.

going OK. This should be, Liu Xiang in the final. You yes, it's the

:09:20.:09:26.

World Championships. I think there will be some other guys in the mix

:09:26.:09:31.

as well. It's going to be an interesting final. We will speak to

:09:31.:09:36.

you shortly also let's go to the event. Liu Xiang I think is in

:09:36.:09:43.

first. This is what lies in wait for the athletes in our next event.

:09:43.:09:49.

The 60-metre hurdles. Heavily featured in that event. A man, a

:09:49.:09:53.

former world record holder. An Olympic champion, too. There he is,

:09:53.:09:59.

Liu Xiang. From the People's Republic of China. Former world

:09:59.:10:09.
:10:09.:10:10.

indoor champion as well, so he is pretty useful. She is the line-up.

:10:10.:10:20.
:10:20.:10:23.

-- here is the line-up. In fact, the Chinese combat the does not

:10:23.:10:29.

start in it two. Cuban a number two, the man who goes in the next a team.

:10:29.:10:39.
:10:39.:10:42.

Orlando Ortega And then comes Andrew Pozzi Dayron Robles. 9th on

:10:42.:10:52.

the British all-time list. The UK indoor champion, Andrew Pozzi.

:10:52.:10:56.

Craddock, currently 5th in the world. 7.53 seconds, and having a

:10:56.:11:02.

good season, already. And then Liu Xiang, silver-medallist last year.

:11:02.:11:11.

It was one of the most talked-about finals on the track. His arch rival

:11:11.:11:19.

is up Dayron Robles and he was disqualified for impeding Liu Xiang.

:11:19.:11:29.
:11:29.:11:29.

Potter, another American. Ranked 8th in the world this year. Chris

:11:29.:11:33.

Baillie, of form at Commonwealth silver-medallist, finished 6th in

:11:33.:11:43.
:11:43.:11:43.

Sheffield last weekend. And finally, from would Ford Greene in Essex,

:11:43.:11:51.

Richard Alleyne. Became a British citizen back in 2003. A regular

:11:51.:11:57.

fixture. At a British track and field meetings. He finished just

:11:58.:12:02.

ahead of Chris Baillie last weekend in 5th place but all eyes are on

:12:02.:12:11.

Liu Xiang. One of the greatest in history. In doors? He has become

:12:11.:12:21.
:12:21.:12:28.

world indoor champion back in at with Dayron Robles by the time they

:12:28.:12:38.
:12:38.:12:43.

Potter is making headway but Liu Xiang stroll through, 7.49,

:12:43.:12:51.

equalling the fastest time in the world in 2012. That was very easy

:12:51.:12:56.

by Liu Xiang. Certainly coming back to his best. He looked very

:12:56.:13:06.
:13:06.:13:09.

of the fact it is his first race, and what a race it was. Good start

:13:09.:13:14.

by the man in lane five pulled up alongside him, on the inside, Kevin

:13:14.:13:19.

Craddock from the USA was trying to stay with him. Watch when he comes

:13:19.:13:23.

off number four, he begins to stretch away. Good sprinting

:13:23.:13:30.

between the hurdles. Porter came through very quickly for the USA.

:13:30.:13:35.

And Andrew Pozzi could have qualified in third place. A good

:13:35.:13:40.

run of. We are having a look at Andrew Pozzi are now. This was a

:13:40.:13:45.

great run. A lot of pressure with a lot of greater people around him,

:13:45.:13:49.

but he worked his way through the field very well indeed. A personal

:13:49.:13:55.

best for the season, 7.62, just getting here it is a great

:13:55.:13:58.

performance by him and I'm sure he will be into the final and he will

:13:58.:14:06.

be very happy indeed. Let's have a look at the full field. A good

:14:06.:14:09.

explosion out of the blocks but all of the athletes. If you think about

:14:09.:14:16.

it, the man on his left and side, Craddock from the USA, dealt with

:14:16.:14:22.

Dayron Robles in a Dusseldorf but look how far Liu Xiang is in front

:14:22.:14:31.

of him. Equalling his lifetime best, Andrew Pozzi. More importantly, he

:14:31.:14:37.

is automatically through to the final. Liu Xiang, 7.49, season's

:14:37.:14:42.

best. The fastest in the world this year. Porter from the USA, second

:14:42.:14:50.

automatic qualifying. The other Britons in 6th and 7th place.

:14:50.:14:55.

Another turn alongside us now. Jasmin. We were just discussing

:14:55.:15:02.

what to expect from Liu Xiang. It was a bit special. His first race,

:15:02.:15:05.

for someone to come out and run a time which could win a medal,

:15:05.:15:10.

indoors, in his first race of the season, it's the normal. He is

:15:10.:15:15.

going to run now indoors for the you normally expect athletes at you

:15:15.:15:21.

raised is to get into their stride. He looked just phenomenal. Normally

:15:21.:15:26.

it takes races to find your rhythm. But he just seems to come out first

:15:26.:15:31.

race and be able to pour out a world-class time every time a. I've

:15:31.:15:37.

no idea how he does it but is massively talented. He isn't in the

:15:37.:15:46.

best indoor form so far, Dayron Robles. I'm not too sure. I'm not

:15:46.:15:51.

sure what is capable of at the moment. He is a quality athletes.

:15:51.:15:56.

At any point, he will challenge Liu Xiang. He is in the next race.

:15:56.:16:00.

Controversially disqualified last year in the world championships

:16:00.:16:10.
:16:10.:16:12.

record holder. Great to see you here in Britain, as wuls, -- as

:16:12.:16:16.

always, in this big Olympic year what benefits do you get personally

:16:16.:16:22.

out of an indoor season? TRANSLATION:

:16:22.:16:25.

Indoors is very important to me because it's part of my preparation

:16:25.:16:31.

for outdoors. It improves the first part of my race, and also what ever

:16:31.:16:34.

mechanical problems I have I can fix it when I am running indoors.

:16:34.:16:44.
:16:44.:16:45.

It's very important I compete well during the indoor season. What's it

:16:45.:16:49.

like to come face-to-face with Liu Xiang, bearing in mind what

:16:49.:16:54.

happened to you and him in Daegu and the disqualification that came

:16:54.:17:00.

your way. The Olympic champion of Cuba has been disqualified for a

:17:00.:17:08.

rule which disallows any athlete what has jostled or or obstructed

:17:08.:17:12.

another athlete... What's it like going to head-to-head again?

:17:12.:17:16.

TRANSLATION: I love the guy, he is a good friend

:17:16.:17:20.

and it gets me more focused when Liu Xiang is in it because I have

:17:20.:17:27.

to run my best race to beat him. I enjoy competing against my rivals,

:17:27.:17:31.

it gives me an idea of where they are with their training. It gives

:17:31.:17:34.

me an idea of where I am. It's something I look forward to every

:17:34.:17:44.
:17:44.:17:45.

year to compete against the best in the world. First to the pole vault,

:17:45.:17:55.
:17:55.:18:04.

Holly Bleasdale, third and final now.

:18:04.:18:11.

Oh, yes! Was it ever in doubt? She allows herself a smile of

:18:11.:18:21.
:18:21.:18:21.

relief. And now perhaps can focus on getting into the realm of four

:18:21.:18:26.

metres 70. Everybody in the crowd breathed a massive sigh of relief

:18:26.:18:30.

there, I think you are right, more importantly, it's a good rehearsal

:18:30.:18:34.

for championship vaulting. Third and final attempt always produces

:18:34.:18:41.

its own kind of pressure. That was a good effort by the young

:18:41.:18:46.

Blackburn athlete. Just in consultation with her coach. It's

:18:46.:18:51.

just her and Pyrek left in the competition.

:18:51.:18:57.

So, to the second heat of the 60m hurdles. Dayron Robles we heard

:18:57.:19:07.
:19:07.:19:19.

from, looking to qualify safely to join Liu Xiang. Mazac of the

:19:19.:19:29.
:19:29.:19:31.

Czech Republic. 21 years of age. Next to him Julian Adeniran. He had

:19:31.:19:41.
:19:41.:19:46.

a good season last year. Emanuel Abate from Italy. He is

:19:46.:19:52.

right up there in world terms. Not quite as fast as this man,

:19:52.:19:57.

Dayron Robles. Surely 7.55 will be something he wants to improve on.

:19:57.:20:01.

He has seen Liu Xiang, he knows the gauntlet has been thrown down a

:20:01.:20:06.

little, although getting through is the main issue here. Merritt has

:20:06.:20:16.
:20:16.:20:19.

been in good form. He is the fastest in the field here this year.

:20:19.:20:24.

Dexter Faulk from the United States. Second in the match at Glasgow.

:20:24.:20:28.

And Lawrence Clarke, a huge disappoint the for him, he had

:20:28.:20:32.

geared himself up for a race against Pozzi last week in the

:20:32.:20:37.

trials but was disqualified for a false start. He needs to redeem

:20:37.:20:47.
:20:47.:20:54.

himself here. And then Balazs Baji of Hungary.

:20:54.:21:04.
:21:04.:21:04.

So the second heat. Concentration order of the game here for Robles.

:21:04.:21:13.

I am sure he saw what Liu Xiang did. He might want to make a mark

:21:13.:21:23.
:21:23.:21:50.

himself here as well. He was beaten Xiang at all. Not so good out of

:21:50.:21:54.

the blocks for Dayron Robles. He knows that wasn't the best - or

:21:54.:21:57.

type of performance he needs to produce if he is going to do well

:21:57.:22:01.

when we get to the World Indoors and later this afternoon, because

:22:01.:22:08.

he will be a long way behind Liu Xiang on the basis of that.

:22:08.:22:12.

Colin, what do you reckon? Interesting that, he is looking

:22:12.:22:15.

around and he looks really confused with his performance. He is looking

:22:16.:22:19.

at the big screen to see exactly how he went. I think he will be

:22:19.:22:25.

disappointed the fact he couldn't get out as fast as Merritt. Once he

:22:25.:22:30.

got into his fluent running I don't think he needs to concern himself.

:22:30.:22:36.

Be strong, be confident. He is powerful, but this is where he gets

:22:36.:22:41.

his real distance from most of the athletes. He has an incredible

:22:41.:22:44.

trail leg. Comes through right under his body very quickly indeed

:22:44.:22:48.

and puts him into a good running position and that's what all

:22:48.:22:56.

hurdlers try to achieve. He is cruising into the line. Wide shot.

:22:56.:23:01.

As you can see, very slow off the blocks. Didn't seem to react. I

:23:01.:23:07.

don't know if he wasn't thinking he needs to having urgency, but he

:23:07.:23:11.

soon had to pull himself together and qualified well indeed. Good

:23:11.:23:21.
:23:21.:23:29.

head-to-head in that final. We look pass at four metres 62, having seen

:23:29.:23:39.
:23:39.:23:40.

Rogowska go through. Two athletes remain in the competition. Rogowska

:23:40.:23:47.

cleared that comfortably. Rogowska has the advantage. Bleasdale has

:23:47.:23:55.

elected to pass at that height. The bar will be raised to 4.70.

:23:56.:24:01.

Certainly Rogowska is one of the athletes she will be facing in the

:24:01.:24:04.

World Indoor Championships and of Olympics, of course and one of the

:24:04.:24:09.

athletes that could well figure on the medal rostrum. Consistently one

:24:09.:24:18.

of the best in the world this year. In recent years, also. A victory

:24:18.:24:24.

over this athlete would be phenomenonal. The clock counting

:24:24.:24:29.

down, Rogowska, an athlete of her experience is aware of that.

:24:29.:24:39.
:24:39.:24:41.

Approaching the ten second mark. Making her first attempt at 4.70.

:24:41.:24:48.

Gave it a fair old rattle, it thought about staying up,

:24:48.:24:54.

eventually came down. Two attempts at 4.70 remain for Rogowska.

:24:54.:25:01.

Just her third competition of the year, so that 4.62 represents a

:25:01.:25:11.
:25:11.:25:33.

season best. Bleasdale will be next second heat of the hurdles:

:25:34.:25:43.

It was a personal best for Clarke. We have our eye on Holly Bleasdale,

:25:43.:25:47.

she is about to jump. We will talk hurdles for the moment. Both of the

:25:47.:25:53.

star names through. Advantage Lewes I would say -- Liu Xiang I would

:25:53.:25:59.

say. He is looking the sharper of the two. I am surprised by Robles,

:25:59.:26:04.

he said he felt in good shape. Liu Xiang, his start was on point.

:26:04.:26:09.

Technically you can't fault the guy. Great technique. He makes that look

:26:10.:26:14.

easy. As we said, Colin, to come the first race out and run like

:26:14.:26:20.

that even more impressive. He is a quality athlete. He's been the

:26:20.:26:24.

Olympic champion. We can only expect him to come out and be

:26:24.:26:27.

really explosive. When you have a flawless technique, you expect it.

:26:27.:26:33.

Holly Bleasdale is about to jump, let's go straight to the pole vault.

:26:33.:26:39.

Holly Bleasdale elected to pass at 4.62. This is her first time effort

:26:39.:26:45.

at 4.70. And yes, she goes clear! Holly

:26:45.:26:49.

Bleasdale takes the lead in this competition. After that slight case

:26:49.:26:54.

of nerves at her opening height of 4.52, no mistake. She goes into the

:26:54.:27:00.

lead with a first-time clearance of 4.70. The same height she cleared

:27:00.:27:05.

to take the indoor title last week at Sheffield and repeats it again.

:27:05.:27:13.

She said her ambition was to get to 4.70 on a consistent basis. It's

:27:13.:27:19.

job done. Now she's looking to go higher. After looking a bit shaky,

:27:19.:27:26.

all going well for Holly now. Back to hurdles. Let's talk Dayron

:27:26.:27:29.

Robles. He slept on the blocks, came through, did enough. But you

:27:29.:27:35.

wonder whether he is focused on this indoor season. Yeah, he

:27:35.:27:39.

competed until late last year. I was surprised to see him run

:27:39.:27:46.

indoors at all. His start was slug slugish. He comes through the field.

:27:46.:27:52.

Liu Xiang is looking a lot better. There's still more in the tank from

:27:52.:27:56.

Robles. I don't think he is on a par with Liu Xiang at this time.

:27:56.:28:00.

wonder if he is thinking Olympics, I want to defend my title. I will

:28:00.:28:03.

go through the motions, maybe some pressure from the cubeian

:28:03.:28:09.

federation to compete indoors but his heart is not in it. Remember he

:28:09.:28:15.

has had injury problems as well and you have to really focus on what's

:28:15.:28:18.

right for to you prepare for your major event in your mind. As you

:28:18.:28:26.

say, he wants to defend his Olympic title. He will become the third

:28:26.:28:29.

hurdler ever to defend it if that happens to him. It's about focus,

:28:29.:28:31.

control. He is here to be competitive. Every champion once

:28:31.:28:35.

they get on the line wants to produce incredible performances and

:28:35.:28:38.

he will not want to lose to Liu Xiang today. We look forward to

:28:38.:28:42.

that race. In terms of your season, obviously you know coming back from

:28:42.:28:47.

injury, how are you looking to build up to 2012? I am going to try

:28:47.:28:51.

to do much the same as last year. We are not going to change things

:28:51.:28:55.

up because of Olympic year. Things have been on an upward spiral the

:28:55.:28:58.

last few years. I am trying to replicate last year. For me it's

:28:59.:29:02.

about staying injury-free, getting as much training as possible and if

:29:03.:29:07.

tkoeu that I am confident I can run another personal best and get in

:29:07.:29:17.
:29:17.:29:18.

with a shout at the medals. Good luck. The men's 800 up on track

:29:18.:29:28.
:29:28.:30:01.

Learmonth has had a great winter season already. And will be looking

:30:01.:30:05.

forward to his opportunity here, just 19 years of age. Andrew has

:30:06.:30:11.

had a troubled winter so far this year, certainly set Istanbul as a

:30:11.:30:21.
:30:21.:30:22.

target. Will need to run well here if toes give the selectors a nudge.

:30:22.:30:29.

Lewandowski, it's been his team- mate who's been running superbly

:30:29.:30:38.

well. Lalang, the Commonwealth champion. And then this man, Aman,

:30:38.:30:48.
:30:48.:30:54.

champion, won in Glasgow. He looks a different athlete this winter.

:30:54.:30:58.

He's done more endurance work this year and it is showing so far. A

:30:58.:31:08.
:31:08.:31:16.

big test for him here. And Rapatz huge opportunity. He has already

:31:16.:31:21.

been picked for Istanbul. He wants to show what he can do against some

:31:21.:31:27.

big names here. He has a blistering pace, Joe Thomas. He hasn't got any

:31:27.:31:32.

faster times to his name but I think he's capable of going quickly

:31:32.:31:42.
:31:42.:31:44.

this year. Coming up behind him, Lewandowski. Thomas is right

:31:44.:31:50.

alongside Boaz Lalang. This is a real step up in class for Joe

:31:50.:31:55.

Thomas. He really has a chance today to take some scalps to propel

:31:55.:31:59.

him towards the World Indoor Championships. He has looked good

:32:00.:32:05.

all winter. An improved athlete. He is letting the gaps open, which she

:32:05.:32:09.

doesn't need to do at this point. You can't always allow a fast

:32:09.:32:15.

finish. He is far too far adrift, really. These are good guys at the

:32:15.:32:25.
:32:25.:32:29.

front. Aman, he has only had one big race this year so far. Thomas

:32:29.:32:39.
:32:39.:32:41.

has got to try to close this gap. Aman, he goes alongside him. The

:32:41.:32:45.

18th the old Ethiopian is doing well for the by Joe Thomas running

:32:45.:32:49.

strongly down the back straight. These front three are having their

:32:49.:32:56.

own a private race. Lewandowski, response again, finds something

:32:56.:33:03.

extra. It's going to be very close on the line. Joe Thomas takes 4th

:33:03.:33:11.

place, a new personal best for him. 1.4 5.41, he will be pleased with

:33:11.:33:21.

that. His first big victory of the year. Mohamed Aman, from Ethiopia,

:33:21.:33:29.

still only 18. Andrew Osagie, fighting for this. He was trying to

:33:30.:33:36.

hold off all comers on this last lap, and almost did. They were

:33:36.:33:46.
:33:46.:33:47.

going head to head on the back fantastically well this summer, I'm

:33:47.:33:57.

sure. Aman, into the finishing straight, battling it out with the

:33:57.:34:01.

European champion. He has done it again. Joe Thomas, there, in 4th

:34:01.:34:07.

place, setting a personal best, I'm a pretty short. I think he will be

:34:07.:34:11.

delighted with that step up in class. A great performance by the

:34:11.:34:19.

young Ethiopian. The bar has been raised to four metres and 78 in the

:34:19.:34:29.
:34:29.:34:34.

women's pole vault. Two athletes Again, Bleasdale will have the

:34:34.:34:44.
:34:44.:34:55.

opportunity to take the advantage season's best at her second attempt,

:34:55.:35:00.

four metres and 70. She is not short of that sort of form here. It

:35:00.:35:04.

is all about Holly Bleasdale for that it she can get it on the first

:35:04.:35:08.

attempt, surely she will take this competition by the scruff of the

:35:08.:35:17.

neck. The coaches watching intently, always involved, always animated.

:35:17.:35:22.

The good news, we have seen the result of that 800 metres, a new

:35:22.:35:32.
:35:32.:35:32.

national record. Joe Thomas, further down, a new personal best,

:35:32.:35:37.

5th on the UK all-time list, and a very promising run as well from

:35:37.:35:43.

Andrew Osagie. His first race back. It could be enough for them to

:35:43.:35:48.

represent Great Britain at the World Indoor Championships. Firth

:35:48.:35:51.

on the UK all-time list after that. A different experience for you

:35:51.:35:59.

today. Yes, I have been used to being near the front. I a personal

:35:59.:36:04.

best every race so far. It was a shock to the system. It's part of

:36:04.:36:10.

experience. Yes, I love a good race. That felt more like a time trial

:36:10.:36:16.

than anything. Another personal best. The consistency is there.

:36:17.:36:22.

Keep it going. All the best for the World Championships. Thank you.

:36:22.:36:27.

A nice run their from Joe Thomas and I think it was very difficult

:36:27.:36:32.

for him to pace that race, to go with the guys in front would have

:36:32.:36:37.

been too far, so I thought was very mature. You're right. Had he risked

:36:37.:36:42.

and gone out with the big runners in a race, I think he would have

:36:42.:36:47.

struggled. It's very hard in the 800 metres when you're in no-man's-

:36:47.:36:52.

land, and I think he really ran a great race. I just like his style.

:36:52.:36:58.

If he is confident and another personal best. And he goes to the

:36:58.:37:02.

World Indoor Championships. Yes, a great way to go to Istanbul. He

:37:02.:37:06.

knows what is up against, clearly. He was not overawed by the

:37:06.:37:09.

competition so, for me, it was a good performance and I think he

:37:09.:37:13.

will build on this. Women's pole vault coming down to the final

:37:13.:37:20.

stages now. Holly Bleasdale with her next attempt. Four metres and

:37:20.:37:30.
:37:30.:37:34.

78. We have already seen Rogowska, her first failure. No, not to be.

:37:34.:37:44.
:37:44.:37:53.

the women's long jump. We will catch up with a shortly but next

:37:53.:38:01.

it's the women's 60-metre final. I think it looks amazing is mother-

:38:01.:38:07.

son. She is amazing all year. -- Madison. She looks majestic it

:38:07.:38:13.

today. She is so compact and powerful. 60 metres suits a very

:38:13.:38:18.

well indeed. Don't be fooled, she has a great 100-metre personal best

:38:18.:38:24.

as well for the she has come on leaps and bounds this year. As a

:38:24.:38:30.

long jumper, you would expect that. Yes. I thought you would like that

:38:30.:38:36.

one! All the top sprinters will fear her over 60 metres. Our only

:38:36.:38:40.

laughed because that your birthday, by the way. Who is her main

:38:40.:38:47.

challenger? You have got to look at the Jamaicans. I just feel that

:38:47.:38:52.

women's sprinting at the moment is red hot, and so hard to call for

:38:52.:38:57.

that you have got to make sure, in this race, it's all about the start.

:38:58.:39:05.

It's got to be electric. Mother-son is quite something. The final of

:39:05.:39:15.
:39:15.:39:25.

for some time adjusting their jump champion should, of course.

:39:25.:39:35.
:39:35.:39:42.

pick up and the way she finishes off the sprint. She asked for some

:39:42.:39:51.

of medical help. The only Briton to have qualified. Asha Philip. Let's

:39:51.:39:57.

go back to the pole vault for at the moment. Now the second attempt.

:39:57.:40:07.
:40:07.:40:09.

No. Completely bailed out on that one. Holly Bleasdale. She has just

:40:09.:40:17.

seen Rogowska run-throughs. Bleasdale, attempting a second best

:40:17.:40:27.
:40:27.:40:28.

clearance ever. 4.71 she jumped in December. 4.87 in a Lyon in its

:40:28.:40:37.

January. Second attempt. Oh! And again, solid attempt. One attempt

:40:37.:40:47.
:40:47.:40:49.

remains for the two remaining for the fastest woman, perhaps not

:40:49.:40:59.
:40:59.:41:11.

just in Birmingham but the world Madison in lane four as favourite.

:41:11.:41:20.

Lakya Brookins, a lifetime best. Very useful if she could keep that.

:41:21.:41:28.

Asha Philip, a lifetime best in the heats. She has now moved up to 9th

:41:28.:41:37.

on the British all-time list, so a very good prospect indeed. Gloria

:41:37.:41:40.

Asumnu, I am worried about her. She was asking for medical help at the

:41:40.:41:45.

start of the race but she is on the start line. 7.14 is her lifetime

:41:45.:41:52.

best. Maddison, diminutive, slim, slight, but a good starter and a

:41:52.:41:59.

great finisher, too. 7.02, her lifetime best. Fastest in the world

:41:59.:42:08.

this year. Ivet Lalova, from Bulgaria, a good start of. If she

:42:08.:42:16.

can repeat the start she had in a semi-final, who knows? Tameka

:42:16.:42:20.

Williams, the 60 metres record holder as well as other distances,

:42:20.:42:30.
:42:30.:42:32.

as well. One of the best Europeans is Ezinne Okparebo, should get

:42:32.:42:42.
:42:42.:42:42.

close to a season best, 7.21. And finally, Aleen Bailey. The flags

:42:42.:42:47.

showing she is coming from the place where all the good sprinters

:42:47.:42:53.

come from. Jamaica. We get a good idea, whoever wins this, could be

:42:53.:43:03.
:43:03.:43:12.

Tianna Madison And perhaps Williams in lane six. And also for Great

:43:12.:43:22.
:43:22.:43:30.

Britain, Asha Philip. There she is Tianna Madison, absolutely flying.

:43:30.:43:36.

An absolutely wonderful 7.07, she stops the clock at, a very fast

:43:36.:43:42.

time indeed. A really classy athlete. Looks pretty cool, calm

:43:42.:43:49.

and collected about it. What a sprinter. Not quite as fast as Sue

:43:49.:43:52.

ran earlier this year but, nevertheless, a world-class time

:43:52.:44:00.

there. Denise, a good run, wasn't it? Fantastic, really compose to. A

:44:00.:44:05.

very strange hand position at the start, but it didn't affect her, at

:44:05.:44:11.

all, and once she moves through this field, cool, calm, collected,

:44:11.:44:18.

technique intact, beautiful running from a virtually unknown sprinter.

:44:18.:44:25.

Let's have a look at his overhead shot. Her hand, is supposed to be

:44:25.:44:28.

behind the line but the officials done call that. A lovely runner,

:44:28.:44:35.

here. But didn't call that. It's all about running faster times but

:44:35.:44:38.

in Istanbul, will she be able to deliver and get a medal around her

:44:38.:44:48.

neck? Driving really hard. But still, no tension in that face.

:44:48.:44:58.
:44:58.:45:01.

Pumping hard. Very good run by here. Very good run by Madison. Asha

:45:01.:45:06.

Philip, another lifetime best performance, 7.19, certainly one of

:45:06.:45:16.
:45:16.:45:21.

the fastest times by a British her third and final attempt with

:45:21.:45:31.
:45:31.:45:42.

the bar set at 4.7 -- 4.78. Getting encouraged by the crowd.

:45:42.:45:49.

And no. Didn't fully commit. But Holly Bleasdale takes first place

:45:49.:45:56.

and some pretty notable scalps in this competition. Best clearance of

:45:56.:46:03.

4.70. But when you have got the names like Rogowska and Pyrek

:46:03.:46:08.

finishing beneath tu reinforces and emphasises the rich vein of form

:46:08.:46:18.

Holly Bleasdale is in and will go to Turkey full of confidence.

:46:18.:46:21.

Certainly some interesting stats to show you in this final of the

:46:21.:46:31.
:46:31.:46:47.

Philip but let's hear from the winner.

:46:47.:46:51.

Thank you very much, another tremendous performance in what's

:46:51.:46:56.

been a wonderful start to the season for you. Thank you. You know,

:46:56.:47:03.

today was just for - the the -- race was dedicated to girls in the

:47:03.:47:08.

world who feel they've made mistakes, it's a testament you can

:47:08.:47:11.

take your life back and turn it around, don't cheat yourself and

:47:11.:47:14.

cut corners and you can do it. have you done wrong that you are

:47:14.:47:24.
:47:24.:47:25.

putting right? You know, by cutting corners I mean if you have three

:47:25.:47:32.

runs, don't do two and a half. are You are going to target the

:47:32.:47:40.

World Championships. Have to do the nationals first. You are a self-

:47:40.:47:48.

confessed nerd on your website, what do you study. Micro biology.

:47:48.:47:55.

You are a fast running nerd you are telling us. And jumper. Thank you

:47:55.:47:58.

very much. It's been a great afternoon so far but still plenty

:47:59.:48:07.

to come. Bernard Lagat in the 1500. In the women's 1500 it's Hannah

:48:07.:48:13.

England. Then that big head-to-head Dayron Robles against Liu Xiang in

:48:13.:48:17.

the hurdles, who will come out on top?

:48:17.:48:22.

And then Asafa Powell looked in fantastic shape in his heat, can he

:48:22.:48:28.

go 6.50 in the final? And Mo Farah rounds it all off in the two miles.

:48:28.:48:31.

Obviously a story there with Tianna Madison, she was the world champion

:48:32.:48:36.

2005 and here she is in 2012 sprinting and doing it to quite

:48:36.:48:41.

great effect. Absolutely. Imagine if she would go back to long

:48:41.:48:46.

jumping. Fabulous performance by her and indeed the first four girls

:48:46.:48:50.

running fantastically well. More to come from her, but like I said when

:48:50.:48:54.

I was talking about the race itself, it's all good about running fast

:48:54.:48:57.

times, you have got to repeat it. You have to be able to do it at

:48:57.:49:01.

championships and she will face some seasoned athletes. And a super

:49:02.:49:07.

run from Asha Philip. Great to see her return. Fourth in the British

:49:07.:49:14.

all-time list. We like the fact that women's sprinting, there's a

:49:14.:49:17.

real resurgence. I am looking forward to the outdoor trials and

:49:17.:49:21.

who makes the team and individual spot. Exciting, watch this space.

:49:21.:49:31.
:49:31.:49:52.

had to run this afternoon to decide who would join Nigel. Richard Buck

:49:52.:49:55.

in the red vest, because he was on the outside went out with real

:49:56.:50:00.

intent through the first 200 m, knew that he had to win and also

:50:00.:50:03.

get a fast time and Williams in his first 400 of the year got very

:50:03.:50:12.

close to him down the back strait. The race was really between the two

:50:12.:50:19.

of them. Buck trying to hold off Conrad Williams. It looked like

:50:19.:50:23.

Williams might have that extra but Buck kicked away and watch the

:50:23.:50:33.

clock, it was a superb 45.89, the sixst fastest in -- 6th fastest in

:50:33.:50:39.

the world. No wonder he was pleased. Great run from Richard Buck and

:50:39.:50:45.

good news that Conrad Williams with a personal best in second. Nigel

:50:45.:50:55.
:50:55.:51:25.

will have been watching that, I am Lennon Ford, will have been

:51:25.:51:28.

watching that earlier race and wondering whether he is in the

:51:28.:51:38.

right race. The outside lane is such a big advantage. Rabah Yousif

:51:38.:51:46.

trains in the north-east still. Had a cracking year last year.

:51:46.:51:54.

The world indoor champion in 2010, Chris Brown. Beaten in the

:51:54.:52:00.

international match up in Glasgow. Didn't look in such good form.

:52:00.:52:05.

Maybe three or four weeks of training has helped. Nery Brenes

:52:05.:52:09.

disqualified in his last race. Big meet in Germany last week. He was

:52:09.:52:18.

disqualified because of a lane infringement. And Nigel Levine. He

:52:18.:52:26.

won those trials, the European under 23 champion from last summer.

:52:26.:52:36.
:52:36.:52:46.

He will have noted the performance indoors is such that the first 200

:52:46.:52:50.

very crucial. The tactics, if you like, of trying to get out and

:52:50.:53:00.
:53:00.:53:07.

control the race without down by Brenes. Brown with work to

:53:07.:53:14.

do here to get on on terms Yousif has started slowly. Lennon Ford has

:53:14.:53:18.

attacked through the first 250. It's going to be close to see who

:53:18.:53:25.

breaks for the inside. It's going to be Brenes with Le vine in a good

:53:25.:53:33.

position. It's Brenes leading. Levine in second. Trying to hang on.

:53:33.:53:37.

Brenes stretching it out. Looking very good. Levine not able to go

:53:37.:53:43.

with it. It's going to be a one- horse race. Brenes falls, steps on

:53:43.:53:52.

the inside and Levine takes the win! Well, shock win because it

:53:53.:53:57.

didn't look as though that was on the cards. But what about the time?

:53:57.:54:02.

Two great performances from British 400 metre runners. It looked like

:54:02.:54:06.

he was tiring. It was the fact he stepped on the inside made him fall.

:54:06.:54:11.

But what a good performance from this young man here. Two British

:54:11.:54:18.

men right up into the world's top five or six over 400 metres indoors.

:54:18.:54:21.

And Brenes, well, there is a smile there. He was going so well. Surely

:54:21.:54:26.

he would have got a super - let's see what happens here, Paul.

:54:26.:54:30.

Incredible. Everybody was looking to see who was going to win it and

:54:30.:54:36.

everybody thought Brenes was but Levine - he had a look around but

:54:36.:54:39.

there was nobody coming. Chris Brown, former world indoor champion,

:54:39.:54:45.

was the nearest. What a great day it's been for indoor British 400

:54:45.:54:49.

metre running. Brenes, well, that is remarkable. I have never seen

:54:49.:54:53.

that before. He just stepped on the advertising boarding at the side of

:54:53.:54:58.

the track, which was tucked well inside the line there. Levine

:54:58.:55:03.

produces one of the fastest times in the world. He looks in very good

:55:03.:55:13.

shape indeed to go to Turkey. two times from the earlier national

:55:13.:55:18.

race, and from that race put them 5th and 7th in the world this year.

:55:18.:55:24.

Really encouraging performances from those two. Indeed backed up by

:55:24.:55:31.

Conrad Williams who ran justious 46. Brenes must be wondering what's

:55:31.:55:34.

going on, disqualified last week and then tripping up there. There

:55:34.:55:44.
:55:44.:56:06.

continuing his rich vein of form. Equalling his lifetime best but

:56:06.:56:11.

still short of the extremely challenging qualification of 8.15

:56:11.:56:15.

that is set for the world indoors in Istanbul. So tough, in fact,

:56:15.:56:19.

that only four men have have cleared 8.15 or better so far this

:56:20.:56:25.

indoor season. Nigel is with me, after a

:56:25.:56:30.

tremendous performance in the 400. After what Richard Buck did earlier,

:56:30.:56:33.

did that inspire to you do a similar performance? No, not really.

:56:33.:56:38.

I was concentrating on my own race, trying to focus about winning and

:56:38.:56:46.

taking it through to the Worlds. Hopefully from there. As you came

:56:46.:56:51.

through it was 45.72. You must be thrilled with the way things are

:56:51.:56:56.

heading? Yeah, thrilled to run a PB on an indoor track. Hopefully

:56:56.:56:59.

outdoors will be much better and get the Olympic qualifying time.

:56:59.:57:02.

Have you ever been in a race where that has happened before, the guy

:57:02.:57:07.

in front just buckled and fell? I never seen someone fall in front

:57:07.:57:10.

of me like that ever before. Luckily, I wasn't that close behind

:57:10.:57:15.

him to get tripped, so I had to run around him. Sorry that he fell, but

:57:15.:57:19.

it's racing. Indeed. It was a fine performance. Keep it going to the

:57:19.:57:24.

Worlds, well done. Thank you very much. I would like to to thank

:57:24.:57:31.

everyone, team Christie, mum, dad, thank you.

:57:31.:57:36.

That winning time, a new personal best down to 45.71 which puts him

:57:36.:57:39.

fourth in the world this year. Good performance from him.

:57:40.:57:44.

You have to say that Brenes looked as though he would have been set

:57:44.:57:50.

for something quick there. But certainly good form from the

:57:50.:57:55.

British 400m men. That did make us giggle up here,

:57:55.:58:00.

thankfully he wasn't too close behind. Very good run from Nigel.

:58:00.:58:04.

It was a very good run. Very strong run. To elevate himself there at

:58:04.:58:07.

the world list is a really exceptional performance by him. He

:58:07.:58:10.

kept a cool head. It was very competitive. It's a difficult race

:58:10.:58:16.

to run the 400 m indoors, you are running at pace and have a lot of

:58:16.:58:21.

lane changes. It's difficult to have good control. It's never

:58:21.:58:25.

normally so difficult in the closing strait. You don't usually

:58:25.:58:30.

have obstacles at the end. He handled that well. Even when Brenes

:58:30.:58:33.

falls you can see what happens behind, everybody looks shocked and

:58:34.:58:38.

what's going to happen, oh, I have to pass. Great performance by him

:58:38.:58:41.

all the way. He is going into Istanbul with a lot of confidence

:58:41.:58:46.

and that's what we want to see. At last we are getting 400m runners at

:58:46.:58:50.

the best of their games again, which is fantastic for us. What

:58:50.:58:58.

would have been his run had he not fallen? He might have run close to

:58:58.:59:03.

45.1 perhaps. It's very unfortunate. Doesn't seem to be any controversy

:59:03.:59:07.

there. His legs went underneath him and he ended up hitting the deck.

:59:07.:59:17.
:59:17.:59:19.

Great run from Nigel. Nigel and Richard going to Istanbul. Now the

:59:19.:59:23.

women's 800m. This is going to be a real test for

:59:23.:59:33.
:59:33.:59:33.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:59:33.:00:16.

Helen, and the rest. There she is. A lifetime best. Still a British

:00:16.:00:25.

record is held by a Jo Pavey, which she ran in stood guard in 2007,

:00:25.:00:35.
:00:35.:00:44.

eight 31.50. I think we can expect here. The Romanian champion. Roxana

:00:44.:00:54.
:00:54.:00:55.

Barca. Elle Baker. Along with Gemma Steel. The same club as Paula

:00:55.:01:01.

Radcliffe. And then Emily Pidgeon, the European junior champion at

:01:01.:01:11.

5,000 metres. And then the Kenyan champion at 1,500. Helen Obiri. And

:01:11.:01:21.
:01:21.:01:21.

then the world cross-country champion. Gelete Burka. And then

:01:21.:01:27.

Helen Clitheroe. And the real outsider, the real outsider, one of

:01:27.:01:36.

the all-time greats at 25 years old. Meseret Defar. And then the

:01:36.:01:40.

pacemaker from Ireland, we know that because it's on her vest. Rose

:01:40.:01:48.

Anne Galligan. They have asked for a good pace. Away we go. 15 laps in

:01:48.:01:56.

this women's 3,000. The pace is around about 248. For the first

:01:56.:02:01.

1,000 metres, representing just under 34 second laps. A real test

:02:01.:02:06.

here for the Britons. It really is. There are two races between the

:02:06.:02:11.

British athletes, trying to run fast times, as well as they can,

:02:11.:02:17.

and then three outstanding Ethiopian athletes. We are looking

:02:17.:02:26.

at second place, Rose Anne Galligan being tracked. She is the fastest

:02:26.:02:30.

woman ever over 3,000 metres indoors, the world record holder at

:02:30.:02:39.

this distance, Roxana Barca, and she has been over the last few

:02:39.:02:42.

years one of the most outstanding female distance runners in the

:02:42.:02:50.

world. Helen Clitheroe Meseret Defar. There muddles are there to

:02:50.:02:58.

prove that. -- medals. They will be difficult to trouble, in the first

:02:58.:03:05.

three positions. Helen Clitheroe is there already. She is back in 6th

:03:05.:03:12.

place, if you discount the pacemaker, still leading. There she

:03:12.:03:22.
:03:22.:03:25.

comfortable at the moment. After a fast first 200 metres, the pace has

:03:25.:03:33.

dropped a bit. Still pretty quick. Meseret Defar, the first of the

:03:33.:03:42.

main contenders there. And just behind her is a Burka. Sticking to

:03:42.:03:51.

her task, trying to get this job going. Meseret Defar, looking to

:03:52.:03:54.

see what's going on, on the big screen as she goes down the

:03:54.:03:58.

straight. She is in the lead with two of her talented team-mates

:03:58.:04:08.
:04:08.:04:09.

behind her. The Kenyan athlete, Helen Obiri, and then Helen

:04:09.:04:13.

Clitheroe and Gemma Steel. It will be interesting for Gemma Steel. She

:04:13.:04:19.

is at the back of the group. Let's see how she progressive --

:04:19.:04:27.

progresses. Meanwhile, Jessica Ennis goes in the long jump.

:04:27.:04:32.

Massive cheering from the crowd. Good take-off. Certainly over six

:04:32.:04:42.
:04:42.:04:43.

metres and the current leader. The current leader is a 6.53. Karen May.

:04:43.:04:47.

It doesn't appear to trouble that. The measurement taken from the park

:04:47.:04:53.

closes to the board. So much room. Not even on the board, Jessica

:04:53.:05:00.

Ennis, on her first attempt in the long jump. 6.53, the leading mark.

:05:00.:05:08.

Of course, but scintillating personal best in the hurdles. If

:05:08.:05:13.

first-round effort. Lots more to come from death again is, I'm sure.

:05:13.:05:23.
:05:23.:05:23.

Well, we went through the first 1,000 metres one lap ago. Rose Anne

:05:23.:05:29.

Galligan, a little outside the pace they were asking for. The class of

:05:29.:05:39.
:05:39.:05:41.

this field, it's up to her. Less than 2000 metres to go. She has got

:05:41.:05:51.
:05:51.:05:51.

Obiri. She also has got Ethiopian and then Meselech Melkamu. Helen

:05:51.:05:55.

Clitheroe working hard, finding herself a little bit detached will

:05:55.:06:01.

stop they are progressing at a significant pace. That single lap

:06:01.:06:10.

was the fastest lap of the race. 33.9 for the 200 metres but. She

:06:10.:06:13.

has looked me up all the time at the clock, to get the information

:06:13.:06:20.

she needs, Meseret Defar but the information she is getting is that

:06:20.:06:30.
:06:30.:06:34.

she has three class athletes behind, running her own race here.

:06:34.:06:37.

There's certainly no let-up in the pace she is facing but still

:06:37.:06:45.

looking strong. Still looking quite bouncy but Meseret Defar is taking

:06:45.:06:49.

it out now. The last 800 metres have been downed the world record

:06:49.:06:57.

holder, Meseret Defar. She set it in it stood guard five seasons ago.

:06:57.:07:07.
:07:07.:07:09.

That was some pace. She is still heading Obiri. Defar, she has got

:07:09.:07:13.

to think about her tactics. She is leading, followed by three class

:07:14.:07:22.

athletes. She has a fast finish herself. Former Olympic, world

:07:22.:07:27.

champion, four-times world indoor champion. The pressure of leading

:07:27.:07:33.

eventually will tell and she gets a gap. She tries to let the pace.

:07:33.:07:38.

Five minutes and 44 seconds. I'd seconds off the pace, the world

:07:38.:07:43.

record pace, which she set. Eight minutes and 30 seconds would be an

:07:43.:07:50.

outstanding time. That is the time they are heading for and you sense

:07:50.:07:56.

she is coming under pressure in 4th place now, Gelete Burka. The pace

:07:56.:08:01.

is lifting now. You can see that she is moving at fast, moving along

:08:01.:08:09.

quickly, with four laps to go in the women's 3,000 metres, Meseret

:08:09.:08:14.

Defar. She still leads. And certainly we have seen the biggest

:08:14.:08:24.

gap between first place and 5th place. Still Helen Clitheroe. Since

:08:24.:08:28.

the pacemaker dropped out after a 1,000 metres, she is beginning to

:08:28.:08:34.

stretch away again. 1,500 metres specialist. She can't live there

:08:34.:08:39.

would this incessant pace. The former Olympic champion, and 5,000

:08:39.:08:47.

metres, Meseret Defar. Less than 600 metres remaining. And now, this

:08:47.:08:53.

is the fastest lap of the race. That is why she has opened the gap

:08:53.:09:00.

and she is under pressure. Meseret Defar, showing why, for these years,

:09:00.:09:05.

she has been the outstanding female distance runner for the first and

:09:05.:09:11.

third place in the Olympic Games in the last two runnings. A first and

:09:11.:09:15.

three thirds in the World Championships, and four times

:09:15.:09:18.

unbeaten in the World Indoor Championships. But this is a class

:09:18.:09:22.

athlete in every sense. She came here to run quickly, she came here

:09:22.:09:29.

to run well. It's going to be a fast time here today. Well, the

:09:29.:09:33.

last time they went through, the finish line, there were two laps to

:09:33.:09:42.

go. About 300 metres left for Meseret Defar, who is pulling away

:09:42.:09:49.

hear from everyone. But is not finished yet. She response to the

:09:49.:09:55.

bell, and moving faster as she goes pulls up just over eight minutes

:09:55.:09:59.

with 200 metres remaining, so she has got to run a quick time here.

:09:59.:10:04.

Helen Clitheroe, by the way, is running quickly. Back in 5th place.

:10:04.:10:12.

This is a class performance by an Meseret Defar. It certainly is.

:10:12.:10:18.

Anybody inside 830, matches the all-time record. She will be just

:10:18.:10:22.

outside it, but nevertheless, a brilliant run. Absolutely superb by

:10:22.:10:32.
:10:32.:10:32.

the Ethiopian. A South African, one, two, three. But a massive cheer now

:10:32.:10:41.

for Helen Clitheroe. Helen Clitheroe, there, just finishing.

:10:41.:10:46.

Outside 80.50. Not as fast as the past, but this was a top-class

:10:46.:10:55.

field that she was the best of them. Superb by Meseret Defar from

:10:55.:10:59.

Ethiopia. She sneaks onto the world all-time top 10 list with a

:10:59.:11:04.

performance, but, let's face it, she is the indoor champion and the

:11:04.:11:14.
:11:14.:11:16.

fastest ever 3,000-metre runner Bleasdale. First of all, how much

:11:16.:11:21.

of a surprise as your form been to you this season? Although I did

:11:21.:11:26.

work really hard in the winter, it has been quite a surprise for the

:11:26.:11:30.

my coach expected I jumped around that but I didn't believe it but

:11:30.:11:34.

I'd jump did, and I know there is much more left I can do, so we need

:11:34.:11:40.

to get everything together and hopefully can do well in the future.

:11:40.:11:50.
:11:50.:11:51.

Today you Anna Rogowska, you beat her. There was pressure. Oh my

:11:51.:11:56.

technique is lacking a little bit. I work really hard and today my

:11:56.:12:00.

technique was a little bit lacking. I need to get back into training

:12:00.:12:03.

and make sure everything comes together and hopefully I will jump

:12:03.:12:08.

much higher. I'm really happy to be jumping consistently. I'm going to

:12:08.:12:14.

show it to you now so you can talk us through it. Happy with the run-

:12:14.:12:19.

up? Yes, it was really, really good, but my hipster and move quite as

:12:19.:12:24.

quick, so that could be an area to improve, but I was pretty happy

:12:24.:12:32.

with that. You changed Poles. In Lyon, it was on a less stiff one,

:12:32.:12:39.

so how much of a change was it? moved up to 445, it took me about

:12:39.:12:43.

five weeks to mastered it. I mastered quickly, but it's a big

:12:43.:12:47.

change for me, so me and my coach are debating whether we should do

:12:47.:12:53.

more. It seems the best for me to do. We have been working hard. It's

:12:53.:12:56.

not going to plan just yet but hopefully more training sessions, I

:12:56.:13:04.

will be back in business. Anna Rogowska, you beat up against her

:13:04.:13:09.

in Stockholm. How does it feel to be mentioned are the same sentence

:13:09.:13:14.

as these people? The same time last year, I'd dreamed to beat her, and

:13:14.:13:18.

now I had beaten her twice. It's quite an achievement. It's done my

:13:18.:13:22.

confidence lots of good. I'm going into each competition not fearing

:13:22.:13:25.

it, thinking I have a chance of beating them, and that's what I

:13:26.:13:30.

want to do. You have timed perfectly with the Olympics around

:13:30.:13:36.

the corner. Yes, but obviously a massive bonus. It's good to come

:13:36.:13:39.

into form in the year of the Olympics. I'm only young but to

:13:39.:13:44.

compete in the Olympics is my dream. To come into form now is a dream

:13:44.:13:48.

come true but I hope back into the nation proud. You have done

:13:48.:13:52.

brilliantly well today. Good luck for the future. Next up on track,

:13:52.:14:02.
:14:02.:14:05.

the men's 5,000 metres also a real much fun when I come to Great

:14:05.:14:10.

Britain. For the race, this weekend, I'm looking forward to running fast.

:14:10.:14:15.

I was telling my friends and my coach, I have not run well in the

:14:15.:14:18.

1,500 metres in the past three years, so I want to see if I can do

:14:18.:14:23.

something good. The guys and racing against are really good. So if I

:14:23.:14:28.

can use them to help me out, to run faster, it will be really good, so

:14:28.:14:35.

my aim, to be honest with you, if I could get through and and 33, that

:14:35.:14:40.

would be good. The good thing with the British people, everybody was

:14:40.:14:46.

coming to the races, we understand what track and field is about. The

:14:47.:14:56.
:14:57.:15:01.

fans have been great and they give he is 37 and he heads up what looks

:15:01.:15:04.

like a very high quality area, one of the best races we have this

:15:05.:15:14.
:15:15.:15:17.

afternoon. Let us clear up the result. That was a class act. That

:15:17.:15:27.
:15:27.:15:42.

is this season's best. And that African 1, 2, 3. He along chum,

:15:42.:15:51.

Shara Proctor. The UK indoor champion. She was threatening the

:15:51.:15:59.

long-standing British record. 6.70. That is a leading mark in the first

:15:59.:16:09.
:16:09.:16:15.

round. She appears to be comfortably in front. Landed well

:16:15.:16:20.

on the board and she was putting a good series of chums together this

:16:20.:16:26.

season, and that is bowling well. She will go through with automatic

:16:26.:16:36.
:16:36.:16:37.

qualification to Istanbul, having passed that standard. Takes the

:16:37.:16:46.

lead Jessica Ennis, round two. The red flag. Beyond six metres. That

:16:46.:16:53.

is her season's best. She has a lifetime best in the heptathlon

:16:53.:17:02.

long jump. She got that winning the world indoor title two years ago.

:17:02.:17:08.

She would love to defend that crown next month in Istanbul. Contrasting

:17:08.:17:13.

to her first-round Evered, perfect on the board. Round number two.

:17:13.:17:18.

That will be a clear improvement, what damage will that do to the

:17:18.:17:25.

leader board? 6.22. That is the new season's best and that misery into

:17:25.:17:33.

5th place. So, the men's high jump. He was a little bit shaky from that

:17:33.:17:42.

opening height. This man rocketed to the top on a high jump rankings,

:17:42.:17:48.

clearing that 2.34, the third all- time British list. No problem,

:17:48.:17:58.
:17:58.:18:00.

whatsoever. B1 macro. Robbie Grabarz. The men are out for the

:18:00.:18:07.

1500 metres, that is a great field. Lewis Moses, the UK champion.

:18:07.:18:17.
:18:17.:18:17.

Trying to get that spot in Istanbul, so his Andrew Baddeley. Bernard

:18:17.:18:27.

Lagat. Perhaps the most famous name. Meseret Defar, the pacemaker. They

:18:27.:18:37.
:18:37.:18:41.

have asked for a very quick pace. Lewis Moses, already going to

:18:41.:18:47.

Istanbul, he won the trials inside the qualifying. James Brewer will

:18:47.:18:54.

really have to beat Andrew Baddeley. He ran a very good 5000 metres.

:18:54.:19:01.

13.22. Then, Nixon Chepseba. He started the season with a very good

:19:01.:19:11.

season. -- very good race. The second half of this season... This

:19:11.:19:21.
:19:21.:19:27.

is f2 macro. -- Bethwel Birgen. And of course, Augustine Choge, was

:19:27.:19:34.

beaten by Mo Farah in Glasgow but he had a very high-quality 3000

:19:34.:19:43.

metres and he tops the world rankings. Augustine Choge, the

:19:43.:19:53.
:19:53.:19:53.

former Commonwealth champion at 5000 metres. Andrew Baddeley, James

:19:53.:19:59.

Brewer, Lewis Moses. Heading up the British contingent year. It will be

:19:59.:20:02.

interesting to see if the British athletes want to go with his very

:20:02.:20:11.

fast pace. They had been asked to go through 800 in 1.53. For indoor

:20:11.:20:16.

running, that is very fast indeed. That is pushing for the American

:20:17.:20:25.

indoor record. The question is, do we go with that? That is the

:20:25.:20:30.

dilemma. This is a classic field with outstanding athletes.

:20:30.:20:35.

Augustine Choge, following the pacemaker. And behind him, Bernard

:20:35.:20:45.
:20:45.:20:46.

Lagat. And at the age of 37, he really is showing older long-

:20:46.:20:48.

distance runners how to keep going because he is still running

:20:48.:20:53.

extremely well. His American record last week proves that. Just behind

:20:53.:20:57.

him, the other Kenyan athlete and then the British athletes have just

:20:57.:21:03.

released their pace, working together. The first lap, 56.4, the

:21:03.:21:08.

pace is quick. That is what was asked for. One or two others just

:21:08.:21:11.

sitting back but it this setback too much they will lose out early

:21:11.:21:16.

advantage. Augustine Choge finds himself not quite sure what to do.

:21:16.:21:20.

He is watching the pacemaker. But he does not want to be in that

:21:20.:21:28.

position. Nixon Chepseba starts to put the pressure on. Let's go and

:21:28.:21:34.

chase this. Bethwel Birgen, he can front runner but he is happy to sit

:21:34.:21:41.

behind. Then it is Bernard Lagat. And then the British athletes,

:21:41.:21:45.

Andrew Baddeley, Bethwel Birgen and Lewis Moses. Moving gently through

:21:45.:21:49.

on that solid pace. He is running economically, he has put himself

:21:49.:21:54.

into a good place. James Prior is tracking him. That is the wise

:21:54.:22:01.

thing to do. Andrew Baddeley looks strong. He is in good shape. I

:22:01.:22:06.

wonder if he can trains laid this back to his favourite distance. --

:22:06.:22:15.

translate. Bernard like that, the sprint specialists sitting back but

:22:15.:22:19.

the Ethiopian third place. And that is good running from the British

:22:19.:22:26.

athletes, the pace is good. If they can just keep it going they will be

:22:26.:22:30.

rewarded with quick times. Just starting to stretch, some gaps

:22:30.:22:34.

beginning to appear and Bernard like that is aware of that and he

:22:34.:22:38.

was to push close to the front three. The athletes I have to sort

:22:38.:22:48.
:22:48.:22:49.

themselves out. But like that needs to play closer. -- Bernard Lagat.

:22:49.:22:53.

If that was the case, that would be an exceptional position for him to

:22:53.:22:58.

run in. Today, he has run good tactics. Bernard Lagat looks like

:22:58.:23:04.

he is struggling at the back. 200 metres to go. Bethwel Birgen kicks

:23:04.:23:14.
:23:14.:23:14.

first. He has decided to sit behind Nixon Chepseba. They're pulling

:23:14.:23:18.

away, her black at the with not much to offer. Bethwel Birgen,

:23:18.:23:25.

Nixon Chepseba, they come round the top end with 40 metres. Bethwel

:23:25.:23:35.
:23:35.:23:37.

Birgen leads. It is Nixon Chepseba who wins. Andrew Baddeley will be

:23:37.:23:42.

rewarded with a pretty quick time, there. It may well be inside his

:23:42.:23:46.

personal best. That stands at 3.39 indoors. That was a good

:23:46.:23:50.

performance from him. There he is, Andrew Baddeley. He has been in

:23:50.:23:59.

good shape. That will give him a lot of confidence and he could be

:23:59.:24:05.

joining Lewis Moses. That was a good solid performance.

:24:05.:24:11.

positioned himself well and ran sobbing. But that was a solid

:24:11.:24:14.

performance from Nixon Chepseba, who won several of the Diamond

:24:14.:24:18.

League meetings last year. He was one of the people you would have

:24:18.:24:23.

danger with. Then he failed to make the Kenyan team and the World

:24:23.:24:27.

Championships but there goes the Kenyan, passing Nixon Chepseba.

:24:27.:24:33.

Bethwel Birgen battling, trying to win from 200 metres out. Nixon

:24:33.:24:38.

Chepseba just ready, moving nicely. On the outside, giving himself

:24:38.:24:43.

every chance on a bend. Just holding it. He is coming from a

:24:43.:24:48.

long way back but he is closing the gap and then Nixon Chepseba opens

:24:48.:24:56.

up, relaxes and powers through to the finishing line. That was an

:24:56.:25:00.

impressive performance from the Kenyan and they have so many class

:25:00.:25:05.

athletes, you never know who is going to win it. And Bethwel Birgen,

:25:05.:25:10.

eyeballs out, nothing left. Nixon Chepseba in the Orangefest,

:25:10.:25:18.

striding. He could have positioned himself better because he was

:25:18.:25:23.

finishing fastest of all. That was a good performance from Nixon

:25:23.:25:26.

Chepseba, and he is an athlete we have to watch for the rest of the

:25:26.:25:35.

year. The bar is set at 2.29 in the high jump. Just two athletes remain.

:25:35.:25:43.

Adding up for the first attempt. He was shaky at 2.20. And he continues

:25:43.:25:48.

in that of the end and he likes it. Robbie Grabarz. Continuing that

:25:48.:25:52.

impressive show that he has had this year. He was disappointed with

:25:52.:25:57.

the hype that he cleared in the UK indoors last week. But now he is

:25:57.:26:02.

continuing onwards and upwards. 2.29 at the first attempt. When he

:26:02.:26:06.

gets it right, you can see the day that Betty puts between himself and

:26:06.:26:13.

the bar. Fantastic. Plenty more to come from Robbie Grabarz, who is

:26:13.:26:21.

leading at the moment. That was a very quiet holiday 1500 metres.

:26:21.:26:26.

That was a season's best for the winner. And look at those personal

:26:26.:26:34.

bests. Andrew Baddeley, and indeed James Brewer and even Lewis Moses

:26:34.:26:40.

in 8th place with a personal best. Andrew Baddeley will have the

:26:40.:26:46.

choice, if he wants the world indoors, 3000 or 1500? Let's ask

:26:46.:26:51.

him, they're asking about the choices. 1500 or 3000? What are

:26:51.:27:00.

your thoughts? I wanted to come out and have a solid season and it has

:27:00.:27:05.

got a lot better than I hoped. To have the choices nice but I will

:27:05.:27:09.

gracefully declined. As for the performances you have been able to

:27:09.:27:19.
:27:19.:27:20.

put in, you have to project forward to the outdoor season? He did not

:27:20.:27:28.

feel like it, I felt the first 1800, then all of a sudden, I felt people

:27:28.:27:37.

coming back to make and I just had that sharpness. I think I could

:27:37.:27:46.

have pushed on earlier. On the last lap I had a lot left. It just felt

:27:46.:27:52.

so quick. Thanks for putting this into perspective. We wish you well

:27:52.:27:59.

for the outdoor season. The key, nice to talk to you. We will look

:27:59.:28:09.
:28:09.:28:10.

forward to the women's 400 metres, featuring Shana Cox. I am excited,

:28:10.:28:15.

I completed a few weeks ago here in the indoor games so it is kind of

:28:15.:28:21.

familiar. But I was told the prize would be massive, there is a big

:28:21.:28:30.

crowd and I am very excited. Since the European indoors it has been a

:28:30.:28:34.

roller-coaster with injuries and stuff. I am pretty pleased at the

:28:34.:28:39.

moment. The training has been going well. I feel like I'm the best

:28:39.:28:42.

shape I have been in for a few years. Hopefully it will start

:28:42.:28:52.
:28:52.:28:53.

chewing on the track. The 400 metres has got a huge presence in

:28:53.:29:00.

Britain. And in the world. You have a lot of great athletes running in

:29:00.:29:04.

the 400 metres this year and last year. And years to come. You always

:29:04.:29:07.

have to be ready and that is a good thing because it pushes everybody

:29:07.:29:16.

to be better. And that is Shana Cox, in lane number five, and just

:29:16.:29:22.

outside will be Nicola Sanders, the British record holder. That is

:29:22.:29:30.

coming up in a moment. On the long- jump runway. Shara Proctor with

:29:30.:29:38.

that first-round effort. The former representative of Andy Low. She was

:29:38.:29:43.

16th in the world championships in 2009. She has been really going

:29:43.:29:50.

well this winter. 6.68. Taking the world indoor title last week and

:29:50.:29:54.

that is long so she does extend her lead. Just waiting for the

:29:54.:29:59.

confirmation of the white flag and we get it. That looks like her lead

:29:59.:30:06.

will be extended. From six pts 63. Around that type of distance.

:30:06.:30:13.

Looked good on the board. And she transferred from one dealer to be

:30:13.:30:20.

able to represent Great Britain at this year's Olympics. They had been

:30:20.:30:27.

a British dependent territory. And she likes the distance. That is the

:30:27.:30:34.

new national record! 6.71! She has topped the British all-time list

:30:34.:30:42.

indoors. Consigning the long- standing record held by Joe one

:30:42.:30:52.
:30:52.:30:56.

wise and Sue had shot into second clearance after but rocky start.

:30:56.:31:06.

Now attempting to metres 32, the second best jump of all time.

:31:06.:31:13.

Robbie Grabarz, establishing himself as a real threat on the

:31:13.:31:20.

world high jump soon. Took the lead earlier on. That lead has been

:31:20.:31:29.

surpassed by two Russians. But Robbie Grabarz, in commanding form

:31:29.:31:33.

in high jump. The athletes have been waiting patiently for this 400

:31:34.:31:43.
:31:44.:31:55.

Williams, twice US champion at the 400 metres hurdles. She has a bad

:31:55.:32:05.
:32:05.:32:06.

lane here though, lane at one. Outside of her visit team mate, --

:32:06.:32:16.
:32:16.:32:17.

outside of her is her team-mate, Jasmine Chaney. Next to her, Nadine

:32:17.:32:22.

Okyere, she finished second in the UK Championships recently with a

:32:22.:32:28.

lifetime best performance. The Czech Republic European indoor

:32:29.:32:38.

champion. Denisa Rosolova Hasn't run terribly well so far this year.

:32:38.:32:48.
:32:48.:32:52.

A 52.76. 52, 38, Shana Cox, 10th in the world. Interesting to hear what

:32:52.:32:56.

Nicholas and has had to say in her interview. She said she was in good

:32:56.:33:06.
:33:06.:33:11.

shape. She will need to be here. -- strong contender just inside her,

:33:11.:33:18.

Shana Cox, who has already been selected to go to Istanbul for the

:33:18.:33:28.
:33:28.:33:34.

championships. Can any one of the run in the lane and then they break

:33:34.:33:42.

for the outside. Two laps of the track. Shana Cox away, safely. In

:33:42.:33:51.

lane two, the USA gaining ground already. Jasmine Chaney, she knows

:33:51.:33:57.

this track well. At the moment, she is chasing down everybody. Nicola

:33:57.:34:03.

Sanders trying to get alongside of. Shana Cox goes into the lead with a

:34:03.:34:11.

one lap to go. And then the European indoor champion, Rosolova.

:34:11.:34:21.
:34:21.:34:22.

Great Britain in first and second place. She has fallen! Rosolova,

:34:22.:34:32.

she just sailed past her. Shana Cox is going to win it. In second,

:34:32.:34:39.

Rosolova. And in third place, Nadine Okyere, who came on strongly

:34:39.:34:46.

towards the finish. This was Tiffany Williams from the USA. She

:34:46.:34:52.

has not run up too many indoor races. But Shana Cox, the winner. A

:34:52.:35:00.

season best for her, and she moves up the world rankings. This is

:35:00.:35:05.

interesting. Shana Cox controlling it, as you would expect. I was

:35:05.:35:11.

watching Nicola Sanders last week, and she runs a good 300 metres.

:35:11.:35:17.

Williams goes down there. This bit of the race, she is struggling with.

:35:17.:35:22.

She has nothing to offer in the last 50 metres. Shana Cox manages

:35:22.:35:28.

to stretch it out. Nicola Sanders, look how badly she fades away there.

:35:28.:35:34.

It's not a super-fast time. Just outside her personal best. It's the

:35:34.:35:39.

quickest she has won indoors as a British athlete. It will move first

:35:39.:35:42.

slightly further up the all-time list, but she looks nice and

:35:42.:35:48.

relaxed, doesn't she? They have been some fast times this year, but

:35:48.:35:51.

you get the feeling Shana Cox as more to offer than we have seen

:35:51.:36:01.

today. She is getting her breath back. What a fine performance. This

:36:01.:36:05.

is the kind of preparation you wanted, heading towards Istanbul?

:36:05.:36:10.

Yes, absolutely. I want to come here. I'm really happy with the

:36:10.:36:16.

outcome. It another thing achieving your dream on the track. A big

:36:16.:36:20.

pressure today in front of the home crowd. Yes, a lot of people here, a

:36:20.:36:24.

lot of pressure, but you have to be extremely focused on the track and

:36:24.:36:30.

have a go. You seemed so calm and in control. It's all about what you

:36:30.:36:36.

do in training. If you train away, hopefully you will perform away.

:36:36.:36:41.

Congratulations. We will bring in if Nicola. How would you assess

:36:41.:36:50.

that? Being in lane six, I just had to get out and if I didn't get the

:36:50.:36:56.

win, I wanted to make it hard for them, which I think I did. You have

:36:56.:37:01.

to run at this way indoors and I ran out of steam at the end for the

:37:01.:37:07.

Nadine it be before a second time in two weeks. -- Nadine beat me for

:37:07.:37:13.

a second time in two weeks. would you assess how your at this

:37:13.:37:20.

point? What will you be working on in particular? My speed endurance.

:37:20.:37:25.

I'm looking to do some speed work now. Over a longer distance. We

:37:25.:37:35.
:37:35.:38:01.

will work, leading up to the afternoon. Hannah England in the

:38:01.:38:09.

women's 1,500 metres and then the Olympic champion Robles against

:38:09.:38:19.

Jang. And then, the Jamaican, Asafa Powell, and then I know from our

:38:19.:38:29.
:38:29.:38:37.

rounds of the afternoon. -- no for set a season's best. And that was

:38:37.:38:44.

longer! A considerable improvement for Jessica Ennis, rather than

:38:44.:38:48.

chasing the outright lead, perhaps competing against herself. Looking

:38:48.:38:55.

to get close to her personal best figures, 6.44, she set in Doha.

:38:55.:39:05.
:39:05.:39:20.

That was two years ago. Good on the herself. A new lifetime best for

:39:20.:39:30.
:39:30.:39:37.

Jessica Ennis. So, is second attempt at 2.39, Robbie Grabarz,

:39:37.:39:43.

and a new attempt at a British record. No, not to be. One attempt

:39:43.:39:50.

at the British record, held at, of course, by a Steve Smith, to come

:39:50.:39:57.

for Robbie Grabarz. The women's 1,500 metres next and a small but

:39:57.:40:07.
:40:07.:40:41.

something to help it to run under four minutes. The youngest sister.

:40:41.:40:49.

Let's go back to the high jump. The new British record, 2.39. The

:40:49.:40:56.

competition is already in the bag. So close! Once again, so high over

:40:57.:41:05.

the bar and he just kept it, but sheer delight for Robbie Grabarz.

:41:05.:41:15.
:41:15.:41:18.

2.32. That young man in good form there. We are expecting from Dibaba

:41:18.:41:21.

something very quick indeed. Anything under four minutes would

:41:21.:41:31.
:41:31.:41:37.

week and looked very good, 4.17. She was hoping to get a chance to

:41:37.:41:44.

come and run inside 4.14 today. The question is, Hannah England, world

:41:45.:41:48.

silver-medallist is up against the number one in the world indoors

:41:48.:41:58.
:41:58.:42:06.

this year. She is a huge talent, this young lady, Genzebe Dibaba.

:42:06.:42:10.

Michalak, she has been asked to go through at a pace close to the

:42:10.:42:20.
:42:20.:42:43.

disqualified for breaking, because they started on two different lanes,

:42:43.:42:47.

she got disqualified and I think maybe she thought it was in her

:42:47.:42:52.

head there, as she ran through that first 100 metres. She has slotted

:42:52.:42:56.

in behind the pacemaker and the first question is, would Hannah

:42:56.:43:00.

England go with this pace? She has decided to run with the rest of the

:43:00.:43:06.

group, so it will be the clock against Dibaba and then a race for

:43:06.:43:11.

second. She has decided for the pacemaker to be setting this pace,

:43:11.:43:16.

32 seconds for each lap and the interesting thing was, I was just

:43:16.:43:20.

thinking, I wonder if Hannah England would go at that place?

:43:20.:43:24.

There she is. The world silver- medallist leading the chasing group.

:43:24.:43:32.

Quite a long way behind the attacking and aggressive running of

:43:32.:43:35.

Dibaba from Ethiopia. Let's see if she can run as quickly as she said

:43:35.:43:41.

she could. 64 seconds. That is close to that four-minute pace. In

:43:41.:43:46.

the women's 1,500 metres. Only four women have ever run that. I wonder

:43:46.:43:51.

if we will see another one today? She had a go at this in Germany

:43:51.:43:56.

last week and she is almost spot on the pace. On the second 400, if you

:43:56.:44:03.

like, they slowed to a 66.9, and then she had to do a lot of work. I

:44:03.:44:06.

have a feeling she will end up doing this pair, because I'm not

:44:06.:44:12.

sure she will be able to keep going for long enough. You end up with a

:44:12.:44:15.

67 up for your second lap, and that's not what you want. Nice and

:44:15.:44:20.

steady, and she will have to do some work for the already, she is

:44:20.:44:24.

slowing down, and she will be itching to go past. She looks like

:44:24.:44:30.

she's jogging behind the pacemaker. She is not sticking to her task.

:44:30.:44:33.

The world junior cross-country champion, the world junior 5,000-

:44:33.:44:38.

metre champion, moves up to the senior ranks, and finished 8th in

:44:48.:44:48.

the senior ranks, in the 2009 and 2011, Dibaba, and she has lost a

:44:48.:44:52.

bit of time there. She was not as good as this a step, the Olympic

:44:52.:44:57.

champion, at the 5,000 metres. She looks very comfortable at this pace.

:44:57.:45:01.

She looks as though she is running easily and I bet this lap is faster

:45:01.:45:06.

than the one before. It's almost a carbon copy of a race last week.

:45:06.:45:16.
:45:16.:45:18.

800 would in a few hundred two laters. She is doing it here again.

:45:18.:45:22.

Doesn't she look relaxed? A lovely looking runner. Surely she will be

:45:22.:45:27.

a big threat in the summer. Just lovely action for the it looks at

:45:27.:45:33.

but does, doesn't it? Moving along at a super-fast pace. Only four

:45:33.:45:43.
:45:43.:45:45.

women have ever done this pace. Championships silver medallist,

:45:45.:45:50.

Hannah England. Running strongly. Pulling away from the group into

:45:50.:45:55.

second place and when she looks ahead, at the other bent, she will

:45:55.:46:03.

see young Genzebe Dibaba sprinting and running. The last lap of the

:46:03.:46:12.

women's 1500 metres and Genzebe Dibaba is running brilliantly this

:46:12.:46:20.

would be a phenomenal last lap. Hannah England ahead of Anna Pierce.

:46:20.:46:25.

And almost one straight behind this young lady, Genzebe Dibaba. This

:46:25.:46:34.

has been a gallant stretch. This will be close. It will be another

:46:34.:46:41.

few seconds before Hannah England crosses the line. Anna Pierce takes

:46:41.:46:51.

third place ahead of Sandra Michalak. -- Wioletta Frankiewicz.

:46:51.:46:59.

But that was a demonstration from Genzebe Dibaba. Not quite as quick

:46:59.:47:05.

as last week but with a bit of help and a top quality race, better

:47:05.:47:10.

pacemaking, she must be capable of faster? She looks like she could

:47:10.:47:15.

have run under four minutes today and that middle lap, 66 seconds,

:47:16.:47:19.

that was just far too slow and you could tell at that point that she

:47:19.:47:25.

was just waiting. Hannah England, you must wonder. Silver medallist

:47:25.:47:29.

in the World Championships I'm looking forward to the Olympics. We

:47:29.:47:33.

really think she has a chance of the metal and then she comes onto

:47:33.:47:36.

the track and sees an athlete on the calendar of Genzebe Dibaba

:47:36.:47:40.

running miles ahead of Fir, I just wonder what that does to her

:47:40.:47:46.

confidence. The confidence of the silver medal was fantastic. But

:47:46.:47:50.

then Genzebe Dibaba shows you that there is a difference with this

:47:50.:47:58.

kind of distance. I wonder what she is thinking? Hannah England has

:47:58.:48:03.

joined me. It was clear that she will not going to run with that

:48:03.:48:08.

kind of pace. It was a different goal? I wanted to remain within

:48:08.:48:15.

striking distance and it was very fast at any time of year but I was

:48:15.:48:18.

trying to keep in contact but there was pressure from the girls behind

:48:18.:48:25.

me. I'm really pleased with that. You are not targeting the World

:48:25.:48:31.

Indoor Championship, this is about the summer? Definitely, this is a

:48:31.:48:36.

time trial on my own to know that I can run that fast and concentrate.

:48:36.:48:41.

It is great to see you. All the very best. Thank you. It's

:48:41.:48:49.

wonderful to be here. Thank you. Some big races still to come. Asafa

:48:49.:48:53.

Powell in the men's 60 metres and then Mo Farah goes home with two

:48:53.:49:01.

miles to round things off. Before that, then men's 60 metres hurdles.

:49:01.:49:10.

This is the much anticipated race. What will happen this time? Paul

:49:10.:49:20.
:49:20.:49:24.

Dickenson describes it. The good news... They will not clash this

:49:24.:49:29.

time. That is the women sitting hundred metres result? Just to

:49:30.:49:35.

clear that up, that was a stadium record. That is a long way ahead of

:49:35.:49:41.

Hannah England. She wanted to have a think about that. But look

:49:41.:49:47.

further down, very bad luck for Clare Gibson. Although she ran a

:49:47.:49:55.

personal best, she is outside the time needed for the World indoors.

:49:55.:50:02.

On five of the women's long jump. Formerly from South Africa, now

:50:02.:50:10.

representing Turkey. Karin Mey. That was close to the seven metres

:50:10.:50:20.
:50:20.:50:21.

mark. Shara Proctor, the leading mark still, and that is 6.71. That

:50:21.:50:30.

was a new national record. This will be close to that. Good on to

:50:30.:50:36.

the board. Just the second competition 4 Q 5 this year. This

:50:36.:50:46.
:50:46.:50:49.

will be a season's best. -- for Karin Mey. This is indeed for a

:50:49.:50:59.
:50:59.:51:06.

season's best. 6.66, still in second place and improving. Here we

:51:07.:51:16.
:51:17.:51:24.

go, one of the big head-to-heads, then men's 60 metres hurdles final.

:51:24.:51:34.
:51:34.:51:45.

Kevin Craddock on the outside. This is the first man. Dexter Faulk. 19

:51:45.:51:55.

years old, Andrew Pozzi. Coming along very nicely in this class.

:51:55.:52:01.

And the world record holder. Disqualified in the World

:52:01.:52:08.

Championship for that clash with the man and the number five. Aries

:52:08.:52:12.

Merritt is no slouch. One of the fastest in the world consistently.

:52:13.:52:20.

Former American champion. Liu Xiang. This young man has taken the

:52:20.:52:24.

Olympic title in the past. World indoor champion. Absolutely

:52:24.:52:34.

brilliant in the heats. Jeff Porter. From the USA. In the top 10 this

:52:34.:52:42.

year in the world. He ran well in the semi-final to get to the stage.

:52:42.:52:46.

And young Lawrence Clarke. He has had an up and down season.

:52:47.:52:49.

Disqualified in the UK Championships. And he got that

:52:49.:52:54.

lifetime best in the semi-finals here in Birmingham. And Kevin

:52:54.:53:00.

Craddock. Another American, LEA No. 8. He has ran close to 7.5 seconds

:53:00.:53:07.

this season so watch out. Everybody will be watching the men on the

:53:07.:53:11.

left hand side and the right-hand side of the screen. Liu Xiang.

:53:12.:53:20.

Dayron Robles. They have dominated in recent years. The former and the

:53:20.:53:25.

current world record holders. The world record indoors, of course,

:53:25.:53:35.
:53:35.:53:37.

still stands with birthday boy, Colin Jackson. 7.530. Surely this

:53:37.:53:47.
:53:47.:54:03.

is going to be quicker from the And he wins it. 7.42. That is

:54:03.:54:08.

outside the world top 10 times ever. But certainly means that he is in

:54:08.:54:14.

tremendous form. Had he increases the head-to-head score against

:54:14.:54:23.

Dayron Robles. Before this event, he had seven against the five from

:54:23.:54:30.

Dayron Robles. He increases that I'm looking good for 2012. He

:54:30.:54:36.

looked very comfortable indeed. It looked easy? You know, it's never

:54:36.:54:43.

easy, I can issue. Liu Xiang is aggressive at the start, he pushes

:54:44.:54:49.

himself out. Everybody knew that he was going to be the one to watch.

:54:50.:54:54.

Very explosive. Everybody is chasing this man. They know that he

:54:54.:54:58.

is flawless, he very rarely makes mistakes so it is difficult to get

:54:59.:55:04.

back once he strikes. But that was a very encouraging run from Dayron

:55:04.:55:10.

Robles. Second place, looking very strong again. But Liu Xiang is the

:55:10.:55:16.

man to watch in this indoor season. That was a very solid, technical

:55:16.:55:21.

athlete. He never panics under any stress whatsoever. He keeps his

:55:21.:55:25.

mind on his job and look at that, takes a nice victory over his major

:55:25.:55:35.
:55:35.:55:36.

rival. The three contenders building up this race. Dayron

:55:36.:55:43.

Robles. On the right hand. He is a beautiful runner when he gets going.

:55:43.:55:52.

All the way over. Clean all the way. He takes victory, what a good

:55:52.:56:02.
:56:02.:56:05.

performance? He knows he has done well. That is a world leading time.

:56:05.:56:12.

So, the result of the high jump. Robbie Grabarz takes victory. His

:56:12.:56:19.

second best jump ever. Turning the tables on Samson Oni. Getting some

:56:19.:56:29.
:56:29.:56:30.

consistency. Let's hear from him. Another tremendous performance in

:56:30.:56:33.

what is turning out to be a great season for you. Under really

:56:34.:56:38.

fantastic attend at the British record? Yes, I am very happy.

:56:39.:56:43.

That's about it. I just relaxed and enjoyed myself. In Glasgow you put

:56:43.:56:51.

in a lot of hard work and over the winter. What has made this click?

:56:51.:56:57.

It is the lifestyle. That is what the change is. The mental lifestyle

:56:57.:57:03.

change. That has been a real difference. You have always known

:57:03.:57:08.

you have had the talent, now you are delivering and your confidence

:57:08.:57:13.

must be sky high? I have never made it down and I decided this year was

:57:13.:57:18.

a good chance to try. Well done, keep it going all the way to the

:57:18.:57:28.
:57:28.:57:28.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 42 seconds

:57:28.:58:21.

Jessica Ennis has joined us. That was a great afternoon. Starting

:58:21.:58:27.

with the hurdles and you must be delighted? I was honestly shocked.

:58:27.:58:32.

But training has been going well. Working on my block starts. Yes, to

:58:32.:58:37.

come here and run that time in front of the scribe was brilliant.

:58:37.:58:42.

Colin wants you to concentrate on hurdles! I am shocked. I cannot

:58:42.:58:47.

believe it. It is a great position to be in but my sole focus is the

:58:47.:58:52.

pentathlon. If I can run that time in the pentathlon, that would be

:58:52.:59:02.
:59:02.:59:02.

great. The women's long jump, Shara Proctor has jumped even further.

:59:03.:59:07.

The final round of the women's long jump. Shara Proctor already

:59:07.:59:10.

extending the British record I'm going even further in the final

:59:10.:59:18.

round. 6.80. Extending the new British record that she holds an

:59:18.:59:25.

that moves were up to 5th on the world list for this year. She goes

:59:25.:59:30.

into Istanbul with tremendous confidence. Two British records, in

:59:30.:59:37.

one afternoon. Fantastic day's work for Shara Proctor. Brilliant

:59:37.:59:44.

performance. And that was a decent long jump on you? Not a bad day.

:59:44.:59:49.

The long jump I struggle with. That was a soldier on, I just did

:59:49.:59:54.

confidence. We were nervous when you started off with 5.91! It's not

:59:54.:59:59.

a good way to start. This is my last competition before the World

:59:59.:00:03.

Championships. That was a world- leading time. Let's look at the

:00:03.:00:09.

hurdles. Talk us through this. And you beat the silver medallist from

:00:09.:00:14.

Daegu? It was incredible to run against her, she is great at the

:00:14.:00:21.

hurdles. I had a great start. I feel like an attacking the hurdles.

:00:21.:00:27.

And then I just literally threw myself across the line. I am made

:00:27.:00:32.

up with that performance. focused on the start? Was that what

:00:32.:00:41.

happened and Daegu? Not a good something we have been working on

:00:41.:00:44.

for a while. It's always been a problem for me, slow out of the

:00:44.:00:49.

blocks, you can't afford to have a slow start in a 60 metre hurdle

:00:49.:00:52.

race. We thought that was the best to concentrate on. It's obviously

:00:52.:00:55.

made a massive difference. What's this winter been like for you? You

:00:55.:00:59.

have gone into it, not as world champion, you lost the title, has

:00:59.:01:05.

that been an extra steel within your sole? It definitely has, I was

:01:05.:01:10.

determined and focused going into this year with the Olympics but to

:01:10.:01:14.

have that disappointment last year behind me and I am using it to push

:01:14.:01:20.

forward. It's definitely spurring me on. Before 2012 you have

:01:20.:01:29.

Istanbul. You are going to have Chenova there. How important to

:01:29.:01:36.

retain your title? Confidence-wise it will be great to go out there

:01:37.:01:44.

and perform and win there,. The girls out in Europe are posing

:01:44.:01:50.

great scores and in great shape, so it's going to be a battle but I am

:01:50.:01:54.

in great shape and looking forward to it. Another target for new May?

:01:54.:02:02.

May that will be my first heptathlon. It's a great

:02:02.:02:05.

opportunity to see where I am amongst those girls. How would you

:02:05.:02:10.

rate what Jess has done this afternoon. The long jump was a key

:02:10.:02:13.

event for you, and I think she handled it really well. I would

:02:13.:02:17.

like to see is that kind of distances coming earlier rounds and

:02:17.:02:21.

not having any pressure going on because you only have three jumps,

:02:21.:02:27.

so Jess knows, she knows what she has to do. Do you always do it

:02:27.:02:31.

early? Try to. It's not easy but that's what you are striving for

:02:31.:02:36.

and Jess knows that. To get a solid jump on the firs one is really key

:02:36.:02:40.

mentally to the set-up of your long jump competition. A great

:02:40.:02:44.

afternoon's action for you, and particularly well done on the

:02:44.:02:49.

hurdles. You will enjoy the next race, the men's 60 metres, Asafa

:02:49.:02:53.

Powell and the rest of the Jamaicans.

:02:53.:03:03.
:03:03.:03:13.

There it is, four Jamaicans in would be a contender, it's not

:03:13.:03:23.
:03:23.:03:23.

really his area this. Wilks, finished fourth in his heat,

:03:23.:03:30.

got through as fastest loser. Then we come to the big names, if

:03:30.:03:34.

you like. Collins, ran a season's best actually, great to see him

:03:34.:03:40.

running so well. He won't thank us if we keep mentioning he is one of

:03:40.:03:44.

the veterans, if you like, but he is still still very popular. Not up

:03:44.:03:47.

to the speed at the moment of Asafa Powell. The next three lanes are

:03:47.:03:55.

the three quickest men in the world over 60 metres this year. Powell,

:03:55.:04:01.

6.50, a new personal best. Surely he can go quicker.

:04:01.:04:10.

Next to him Nesta Carter, ran 6.51, not to be outdone by Powell.

:04:10.:04:15.

Teammates, but rivals, as well. We talked about Blake and Bolt and

:04:15.:04:20.

then there are, well at least three others, including this one, the

:04:20.:04:27.

Commonwealth champion, Lerone Clarke. He ran 6.52 in his heat.

:04:27.:04:33.

200ths of a second separating those three men. The American Trell

:04:33.:04:43.
:04:43.:04:44.

Kimmons, he himself has run 6.53 this year.

:04:44.:04:53.

Then Antoine Adams in lane eight. The stadium record actually stands

:04:53.:04:57.

at 6.46. I think that's the sort of time I would really like to see

:04:57.:05:03.

Powell getting down to. World record, of course, that's that's

:05:03.:05:07.

6.39 by Maurice Green by Powell outdoors when he is he is going

:05:08.:05:11.

really starts so well, I think it's a surprise to everybody that we

:05:11.:05:14.

haven't - Colin was mentioning, haven't seen him run more indoor

:05:14.:05:24.

events. A real surprise he hasn't yet run under 6.5. The men's 60

:05:24.:05:34.
:05:34.:05:38.

final. But also going well is Carter. And

:05:38.:05:48.

so is Clarke. Clarke gets it! 6.47. Quick time for you, but not for

:05:48.:05:54.

Powell, it's this man Lerone Clarke stole the win ahead of his

:05:54.:05:57.

teammates and the one, two, three got switched around, if you like.

:05:57.:06:01.

It should have been this man, I think he is going to have to settle

:06:01.:06:08.

for third perhaps. No doubt about our winner, a new personal best for

:06:08.:06:11.

Lerone Clarke. It was Clarke who finished the quickest, the

:06:11.:06:19.

strongest. It was all about the Jamaicans undoubtedly, but the

:06:19.:06:26.

surprise winner, maybe not to him, but I am sure to lots of people.

:06:26.:06:33.

Once again, Powell can't quite deliver. Colin, he didn't get out

:06:34.:06:37.

badly, Powell, but didn't get moving quickly enough and left it

:06:37.:06:43.

to Carter and Clarke. Yeah, you are right, Steve. That shows a little

:06:43.:06:51.

bit of being rusty. That's really what shows there. What Clarke

:06:51.:06:55.

himself, he has had many races and you can see his experience of

:06:55.:06:59.

having tight races. Out of the blocks we expect Clarke to be

:06:59.:07:04.

explosive, he is short, compact. He is Commonwealth champion. But

:07:04.:07:09.

Carter was on him quickly. Powell was always trying to reach him but

:07:09.:07:13.

couldn't quite get up to Clarke's performance. A new Jamaican record.

:07:13.:07:18.

He will be happy. He is a very happy man indeed,

:07:18.:07:22.

Colin. You You wanted that national record, you have delivered it. How

:07:22.:07:26.

does it feel? It feels great. My season has been going great.

:07:26.:07:29.

Training was going great. I knew that I needed to stay focused and

:07:29.:07:33.

relaxed and believe in myself and I came out here and I did it. So, I

:07:33.:07:38.

am very glad. Thank God, man. make your mark on a world stage you

:07:38.:07:43.

need to make a mark on the Jamaican stage, how important to get

:07:43.:07:49.

alongside these guys like Carter and Powell and a couple of decent

:07:49.:07:54.

ones back home! I have been in the background the last two years, so I

:07:54.:07:59.

needed to get further and I needed to win here and make myself feel

:07:59.:08:03.

more confident going into the rest of the season. You feel like you

:08:03.:08:06.

believe you belong on this world stage and you can deliver when it

:08:06.:08:09.

comes to a pressure situation like today? Of course, definitely. I

:08:09.:08:13.

have no doubt in myself and I am happy to know I have good

:08:13.:08:17.

supporters from Jamaica, my family, friends, you know, and I keep

:08:17.:08:22.

motivated especially when I am running against good athletes like

:08:22.:08:30.

Asafa and Nesta. Go and enjoy it. Thank you, appreciate it.

:08:30.:08:36.

Well, that new Jamaican record goes to Lerone Clarke, ahead of his

:08:36.:08:40.

team-mates. A personal best for Carter. Powell equals his best in

:08:40.:08:48.

the heats but has to settle for third.

:08:48.:08:54.

Earlier on we saw the men's 60 metres hurdle with another national

:08:54.:09:02.

record and superb performance from Liu Xiang, well ahead of his rival

:09:02.:09:06.

Dayron Robles who held off Dexter Falk.

:09:06.:09:16.
:09:16.:09:27.

There was a national record in the foreShara Proctor. Let's get the

:09:28.:09:32.

thoughts of Shara now who spoke with Phil Jones.

:09:32.:09:37.

The performance of the day, A new British record in the long jump.

:09:37.:09:44.

Did it twice as well. We can see 6.80. It brings a smile to your

:09:44.:09:49.

face. Tell me how it was for you. just, the first thing I wanted to

:09:49.:09:55.

do was get crowd behind me, stay focused. The coach had me excited

:09:55.:09:58.

from the start, he said you can jump far and that's exactly what I

:09:58.:10:02.

did. I broke the record not once, but twice and I am excited about it.

:10:02.:10:05.

Excited to go into world indoor championships. It's an amazing

:10:05.:10:11.

performance. Bearing in mind that record was set in 1984. It had been

:10:11.:10:17.

equalled once since then. It's pwb a a -- been a long time coming.

:10:17.:10:22.

That record is older than me, I searched it online. My motivation

:10:22.:10:27.

was to break that record. S a -- it's a wonderful performance. Well

:10:27.:10:32.

done. A great six me metres -- 60 metres

:10:32.:10:36.

there. Lerone Clarke taking it. Cast your mind forward to the

:10:36.:10:42.

trials in Jamaica, for the Olympics. It's going to be phenomenonal.

:10:42.:10:47.

took your breath away already. I am going to try my best to be witness

:10:47.:10:51.

to it all. It's going to be sensational. They have lots of

:10:51.:10:54.

talented athletes. Everybody will be watching their 100 metres. It

:10:54.:10:59.

will be the talk at the moment that the only time Usain Bolt and Blake

:10:59.:11:02.

will compete will be the trials before the Olympics so you can see

:11:02.:11:07.

it's going to be a red hot 100 metres, for sure. That's a massive

:11:07.:11:11.

cheer, that was the crowd being introduced - even Mo Farah being

:11:11.:11:17.

introduced to the crowd. Let's hear from Mo now. The crowd are on their

:11:17.:11:22.

feet and Farah gets the victory for Great Britain!

:11:22.:11:27.

Did it give you a message, if you didn't know before, this is Olympic

:11:27.:11:32.

year and everybody is into it. tkpwraed to have -- great to have

:11:32.:11:36.

the crowd behind you. It's a big year. I am using the crowd more as

:11:36.:11:40.

a positive thing than anything else and when you get tired and digging

:11:40.:11:44.

in the last lap and they get behind you, you want to push that bit more.

:11:44.:11:48.

They love you. You are a new hero for them, obviously. I know you are

:11:48.:11:51.

going to enjoy it here in Birmingham as well. The crowds are

:11:51.:11:54.

always so knowledgable and you have had memorable races here in the

:11:54.:12:00.

past. 2009 was a great year here. Broken the British record there. It

:12:00.:12:06.

was a really good, but I am doing two miles, which I am excited about

:12:07.:12:10.

and see if I can get close to the British record hopefully. It's all

:12:10.:12:14.

about this one race, the time strategy. The danger I suppose in

:12:15.:12:18.

this year, Olympics year, is everybody gets ahead of themselves

:12:18.:12:21.

and you can't afford to do that. You can't afford to do that. In

:12:21.:12:24.

terms of long distance you have to be patient and take your time and

:12:24.:12:33.

take one race at a time. I didn't even know what day the Olympics my

:12:33.:12:36.

final was, I didn't want to be thinking that far ahead. I wanted

:12:36.:12:42.

to think about one race at a time. I am thinking about the Grand Prixs

:12:42.:12:46.

before, the London Grand Prix, hopefully to test myself there and

:12:46.:12:52.

the trials, but I am not thinking beyond that.

:12:52.:12:55.

Huge noise in Glasgow a few weeks ago. Denise, it's going to be even

:12:55.:13:00.

louder here for this race. This knowledgable crowd will raise the

:13:00.:13:03.

roof. You are already heard it in his introduction. This is the race

:13:03.:13:11.

that people have been wanting to see. Mo has set many records the

:13:11.:13:15.

last couple of years. He loves this track. It's familiar to him. I am

:13:15.:13:17.

expecting fireworks, whether it's a national record, a European record,

:13:17.:13:24.

who knows? One mark he will want to beat is his training partner's

:13:24.:13:27.

recent time of eight minutes and nine seconds, would you agree with

:13:27.:13:35.

that, Steve? Yes the, the performance may give

:13:35.:13:45.
:13:45.:14:13.

us a clue as to how Mo might run set this up for you, this is two

:14:13.:14:18.

miles, 16 laps. If you look at the world record and there has been

:14:18.:14:28.
:14:28.:14:31.

talk, it is, but if you go back to when it was broken in 2003, it took

:14:31.:14:41.
:14:41.:14:43.

attempts to break that record. 84.35. For Mo that's going to be a

:14:43.:14:48.

tough ask. They've asked for a fast pace. Going back to that race in

:14:48.:14:54.

America when he ran 8.9, he ran eight seconds quicker for the

:14:54.:15:04.
:15:04.:15:20.

be up to these men to get them through one mile and not far

:15:20.:15:30.
:15:30.:15:41.

outside four minutes. That is hard as he said they did in Glasgow. He

:15:41.:15:50.

has only had one race since then, one mile. He was tripped up by his

:15:50.:15:56.

team-mate. He still got up and finished. But this will be tough

:15:56.:16:05.

today. Nobody else will help him. And if he wants to get a fast time,

:16:05.:16:09.

he will have to hope that the pacemakers don't go silly and they

:16:09.:16:15.

run at a good pace that he can work on. Will there has got some quality

:16:15.:16:19.

at lives behind him and that makes it more difficult because we are

:16:19.:16:23.

all looking for more thorough to win and also for him to run fast

:16:23.:16:28.

and also to see him bricks some kind of record. The European record

:16:28.:16:34.

was set 39 years ago today of eight minutes and 13.2 seconds. I am sure

:16:34.:16:39.

he can blow that away. He is capable of running more than 10

:16:39.:16:47.

seconds faster than that. He has cut Eliud Kipchoge, the former

:16:47.:16:57.

world champion, behind him. He has quality athletes. He is leading.

:16:57.:17:01.

But he needs to take some closer order. The pacemaker has gone

:17:01.:17:08.

through. More thorough, the first 400 metres. That is quick. -- Mo

:17:08.:17:14.

Farah. For people who know the difference between metric and

:17:15.:17:21.

imperial, 16 laps plus 18 metres and that it teenagers become as

:17:21.:17:27.

important because we talk about the lap time and that was 400 metres

:17:27.:17:31.

exactly, that was not exactly to the finish line. Lap times are

:17:31.:17:40.

important. That idea of running not four, 30.5, that will be important

:17:40.:17:43.

and you do not want many laps were you are slipping outside at that

:17:43.:17:50.

pace. But these guys have got to keep an eye on were well par is and

:17:50.:17:55.

help him through because he will not get much help from behind.

:17:55.:18:00.

Eliud Kipchoge, all of his great exploits, they will want to beat

:18:00.:18:08.

him today. And he is sitting there on his son but the pacemaker. The

:18:08.:18:16.

second 400 metres. 1:59.7. 60 seconds for more thorough for that

:18:16.:18:23.

particular lap so he is running quickly. -- for Mo Farah. He will

:18:23.:18:28.

try to run close to four minutes for the second mile. That puts the

:18:28.:18:34.

quality of running in perspective. We are now ignoring the pacemakers.

:18:34.:18:44.
:18:44.:18:47.

Mold Barack is really the pacemaker. -- Mo Farah. Eliud Kipchoge, Moses

:18:48.:18:54.

Kipsiro, quality applet. Jonathan Mellor is running well. He has a

:18:54.:19:02.

chance of going to the world indoor, he has to one of 3000 metres in 7.5.

:19:02.:19:11.

-- he has to run. He has no option but to go with this quicker pace.

:19:11.:19:18.

That third 400 metres slept. 62.5. I think he realised that. He

:19:18.:19:23.

suddenly accelerated and has got close to the pacemaker. But he

:19:23.:19:27.

knows exactly what is happening. He is glancing at the screen and

:19:27.:19:33.

getting the information that he needs. It isn't his fault that the

:19:33.:19:37.

athletes are not following him. But when you get this quality, you do

:19:37.:19:41.

not want to be sticking out on your own and trying to set the pace for

:19:41.:19:49.

everybody else. Eliud Kipchoge, takes closer order. And that's that,

:19:49.:19:59.
:19:59.:20:01.

62.5. There just tripping over that pace a little. I suspect that is

:20:01.:20:09.

what he felt, the questionnaires, can mould thorough pick this up? --

:20:10.:20:19.
:20:20.:20:20.

Mo Farah. Can they maintain the pace to get them closer to the last

:20:20.:20:30.
:20:30.:20:32.

400 or 500 metres? Mo Farah looking good. Our statistician is doing his

:20:32.:20:37.

work and he has told me that he went through the first mile four

:20:37.:20:41.

minutes and five seconds. That means he will have to run it under

:20:41.:20:44.

the four minute mile to break the record and that would be a tall

:20:44.:20:51.

order. But we know he can go close to that. When the pacemaker drops

:20:51.:21:00.

out. He will be left in the fund. Eliud Kipchoge, still there. Moses

:21:00.:21:06.

Kipsiro, still there. Young Jonathan Mellor has perhaps paid

:21:06.:21:11.

for going up at any pace. He had no option. The pacemaker stepped aside,

:21:11.:21:17.

five laps to go and Mo Farah has to think about winning this. Not think

:21:17.:21:24.

about the clock, look at Eliud Kipchoge. He has been in good form.

:21:24.:21:32.

Well borough has got to be aware. - - Mo Farah. He has to forget about

:21:32.:21:36.

the clock a little bit. Just when the race, that is what you have to

:21:36.:21:44.

do. He is a world champion at 5000 metres and now he is being

:21:44.:21:47.

challenged by the brother of the world record holder at 5000

:21:47.:21:52.

pictures and that is Tariku Bekele. It is now time for him to just

:21:52.:21:57.

settle. Just to think about winning the race. He has that terrific

:21:57.:22:02.

sprint finish. The time welcome, I think he will be the European

:22:02.:22:06.

record today. We will not get the world record but he has to win this

:22:06.:22:12.

race. He has come into this with their huge background of good

:22:12.:22:18.

performance so we know that he is in good shape. Now, he is being

:22:18.:22:22.

tested by Tariku Bekele. And he knows he does not have the pace of

:22:22.:22:30.

Mo Farah. That is what he is doing. Happy to just run at the front and

:22:30.:22:35.

look at 10 starting to rock. But he is still close. Tariku Bekele is

:22:35.:22:40.

really testing, putting his foot down and that daylight gets further,

:22:40.:22:45.

he needs to be careful. Just sensing that more thorough isn't

:22:45.:22:53.

closing that gap so he moves into second place. -- Mo Farah. The 62nd

:22:53.:23:00.

lap. The double Commonwealth champion comes into place. Mold

:23:00.:23:09.

Barack is struggling. -- Mo Farah. He looks tired. He is trying to run

:23:09.:23:16.

quickly. On the outside, can you finish? The bell has sounded. And

:23:16.:23:23.

here comes Mo Farah. They are trying to cheer their man home and

:23:23.:23:30.

he has work to do. Can the former world champion respond? Kicking

:23:30.:23:37.

hard. He has nothing left at this point. It is Eliud Kipchoge. One

:23:37.:23:45.

last effort from Mo Farah. Eliud Kipchoge will win this. It'll be a

:23:45.:23:53.

new British and European record for Mo Farah. But it is only February.

:23:53.:23:59.

And he will not want to have been beaten by Eliud Kipchoge. This is a

:23:59.:24:03.

man who we know over the years is right at the top of the world, a

:24:03.:24:07.

former world champion, plenty of medals. He is a great athlete and

:24:07.:24:10.

the sort of that elite that will Darragh these days would want to

:24:10.:24:20.
:24:20.:24:21.

beat. A -- the sort of athlete that Mo Farah would want to beat.

:24:21.:24:27.

Sometimes, you have to think about just winning. Keeping her unbeaten

:24:27.:24:35.

record is important. Eliud Kipchoge. The reigning 5,000-metre champion

:24:35.:24:39.

under pressure. Emanuele Abate, the brother of the world record holder,

:24:39.:24:49.
:24:49.:24:50.

struggling. Will Farran making that desperate effort. -- Mo Farah.

:24:50.:24:54.

Moses Kipsiro is a former Commonwealth champion. So let's

:24:54.:25:04.
:25:04.:25:11.

face it, winning this would have winning the race is important. And

:25:11.:25:17.

if he concentrated on winning the race, he might have been able to.

:25:17.:25:20.

Bowling a good time, that is sometimes dangerous but he always

:25:20.:25:26.

gives 100% and in February, the Olympic year, you're on show Jill,

:25:26.:25:34.

don't worry. They say you are on show Jill for February. How do you

:25:34.:25:44.
:25:44.:25:46.

assess this? -- show Jill. -- schedule. I am just happy to have

:25:46.:25:51.

worked hard. You have shown what incredible guts you have. You are

:25:51.:25:56.

chasing hard. He have to work hard. Thanks to the crowd and everybody

:25:56.:26:02.

who supported and that was a great reception. One of the best ever.

:26:02.:26:07.

You're the crowd's favourite? just appreciate everyone's help.

:26:07.:26:15.

Keep it going, all the best. Another big day of athletics. Here

:26:15.:26:22.

are the headlines. It was a clean sweep in the jobs for British

:26:22.:26:31.

athletes. Robbie Grabarz, two-point 32 to take the high jump. Oliver

:26:31.:26:37.

Bleasdale in the pole vault. And Shara Proctor, two national records,

:26:37.:26:45.

culminating in 6.80. Jessica Ennis, 7.87 seconds, the fastest time in

:26:45.:26:51.

the world this year. She jumped a season's best in the long jump and

:26:51.:26:57.

then the head to head in the 60 metres, Liu Xiang, the former

:26:57.:27:06.

champion,. It was the domestic affair in the 60 metres, with g7

:27:06.:27:15.

macro winning. -- Lerone Clarke. We will start with the best

:27:15.:27:21.

performance of the year? -- the day? Shara Proctor. Two records in

:27:21.:27:27.

one afternoon. Great performance. She thoroughly deserves this.

:27:27.:27:31.

in terms of looking back, disappointment at the end with Mo

:27:31.:27:37.

Farah? Some disappointment, for the crowd more than anything. It was a

:27:37.:27:42.

tough field. To come second the way he did, he should not be

:27:42.:27:48.

disappointed. And no athlete enjoys second place. Confirmation of that

:27:48.:27:57.

result. That was a personal best from Eliud Kipchoge. That rounds

:27:57.:28:01.

off a live action. Here is what is coming up over the next couple of

:28:01.:28:07.

days. This evening, 7pm, the cycling track World Cup from the

:28:07.:28:13.

Olympic Velodrome and tomorrow at 2:45pm. Followed straight

:28:13.:28:22.

afterwards by Ski Sunday. That is at 6:00pm. Jessica Ennis, obviously,

:28:22.:28:29.

set up very well? Yes but I think the afternoon, the British athletes

:28:29.:28:33.

have done well, they had performed to the standard we want to see in

:28:33.:28:37.

the Olympic year and I think this does bode well with Jessica Ennis

:28:37.:28:47.
:28:47.:28:47.

leading the way. Oliver Bleasdale, -- looks set for Istanbul? And the

:28:47.:28:52.

way she spoke about the performance was the important thing. She knows

:28:52.:28:55.

what she wants to try and she can see where she is making

:28:55.:28:59.

improvements. This girl is a real champion in the making and I wish

:28:59.:29:05.

you all the best. Mo Farah, it will focus his mind? You do not want to

:29:05.:29:11.

give your competitors room to think that he has any witnesses. He has

:29:11.:29:15.

done really well indoors. Let's move on to the indoors in Istanbul

:29:15.:29:21.

and see what he can do. Thank you all very much. That is that from

:29:21.:29:27.
