a purity, and drama, and intensity, a spirit that makes it irresistible | :00:31. | :00:37.
to take part in an irresistible to watch. What we are seeing right now | :00:37. | :00:42.
is that dreams do come true. mince stretched to the limit of | :00:42. | :00:46.

what we are capable of. And that knowledge will drive us on. We lit | :01:20. | :01:30.

There are some famous words, words that when you read them, you know | :01:34. | :01:40.
mean high quality, mean a skill, mean creativity. We have stamped | :01:40. | :01:47.
those words on the Olympic and Paralympic Games of London 2012. | :01:47. | :01:57.

a year on already in the Olympic Park, getting ready for the 11th | :02:15. | :02:18.
Diamond League meeting of the season which also happens to be the | :02:18. | :02:22.
Sainsbury's Anniversary Games. A chance to relive some of those | :02:22. | :02:25.
fantastic moment on the liver -- Olympic Games, and a world-class | :02:25. | :02:30.
line-up here on the track and field. These athletes are not just | :02:30. | :02:32.
competing for Diamond league points, they have got World Championships | :02:32. | :02:37.
in Moscow in two weeks' time. Usain Bolt will be running the really | :02:37. | :02:41.
later, we have Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill competing. We have a | :02:41. | :02:45.
star-studded line-up. Along the way we will meet some of those who make | :02:45. | :02:55.

us smile last summer and who invoke We have got some great names coming | :03:36. | :03:40.
up for you, some top-class action. Paula Radcliffe and Colin Jackson | :03:40. | :03:44.
are enjoying this weather. This was not supposed to be like this we had | :03:44. | :03:48.
been warned of rain, but it turns out the summer love the Olympic | :03:48. | :03:53.
stadium and cannot stay away! Looking at that opening ceremony, | :03:53. | :03:57.
we had a great time last night, what was it like for the athletes | :03:57. | :04:00.
coming back and competing here, especially in Loat -- those like | :04:01. | :04:06.
Usain Bolt who took away gold medals? They adore any Olympic | :04:06. | :04:10.
track or stadium, it brings history, that unique feeling back to you. | :04:10. | :04:14.
And when the crowd arrive, they tried to recreate that excellent | :04:14. | :04:19.
Olympic atmosphere. I think it was delivered last night. It really | :04:19. | :04:24.
felt close, the cameras were going off for Usain Bolt. We had flames, | :04:25. | :04:29.
fireworks, the whole fire -- the atmosphere he was magic last night. | :04:29. | :04:34.
Did we created the feeling of watching good athletics and the | :04:34. | :04:40.
pride that we had been written in the job that we had last year. | :04:40. | :04:45.
Valerie Adams, the gold medallist, she is women's shot but, we will be | :04:45. | :04:49.
across everything. Jessica Ennis- Hill, it was touch and go whether | :04:49. | :04:53.
she was going to make it due to injury. She is here, she is doing | :04:53. | :04:58.
the hurdles and the long jump. This is here earlier on on the warm-up | :04:58. | :05:01.
track, 100 yards away from where we are now. She is looking quite | :05:01. | :05:06.
comfortable. Yes, when you're doing drills like this, and warm up, you | :05:06. | :05:13.
are still not quite knowing where you are at. I can make you look | :05:14. | :05:21.
good and doing drills! strapping says it all. Yes, it does. | :05:21. | :05:28.
That is just take, that is just not so via strapping. -- that is just | :05:28. | :05:35.
paper. It is not severe strapping. It might be waking up muscles that | :05:35. | :05:42.
have not been injured. For her today, is it about time or when she | :05:42. | :05:47.
finishes? Howl she know where she is? For her, it is crucial that she | :05:47. | :05:52.
runs relatively fast. Do not think about her winning the race, it is | :05:52. | :05:59.
about the time, told 0.85 is what she is looking for to give her the | :05:59. | :06:06.
best jobs in Moscow -- 12.85. how she recovers to do the long DUP. | :06:06. | :06:16.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds | :06:16. | :07:19.
If you missed last night, shame on It was a great evening. Some | :07:19. | :07:23.
personal bests and season's bests, world-leading time, what did you | :07:23. | :07:27.
make of Usain Bolt? It was an interesting performance. He did not | :07:27. | :07:32.
have the best of starts, he said could sell. He needs to just race. | :07:32. | :07:35.
People need to say -- people say, what does he need to do a Moscow? | :07:35. | :07:39.
It is just about racing, the practice of getting out of the box | :07:39. | :07:47.
and competitive. Getting out of the blocks has always been his thing, | :07:47. | :07:55.
it is always is weak tests -- it is always his weakest part. | :07:55. | :07:57.
training on his injured. He needs to go and practise his start, his | :07:57. | :08:04.
major training partner -- Palmer is absent. He does not get the real | :08:05. | :08:09.
impetus that he needs. He will run a 10th faster in the world | :08:09. | :08:15.
championships and I think that'll be enough for the Gold. A chance | :08:15. | :08:18.
for Perri Shakes-Drayton to Brit has other goods the better the | :08:18. | :08:23.
world, how did she come through? She came through well, she said she | :08:23. | :08:27.
did not attack the race and he lost form in the Lot 100 metres. She is | :08:28. | :08:36.
tired, she will train and work. was a personal best. It was, the | :08:36. | :08:39.
more stamina she develops and the more technique she gets, it will | :08:39. | :08:43.
hold together. That was the difference between her and the | :08:43. | :08:50.
winner. She came out of it really well. If that was the world | :08:50. | :08:52.
championship final, she would take that. Yes, second place Gomersall | :08:52. | :09:00.
the muddle -- second place, silver medal, who wouldn't? The winner is | :09:00. | :09:05.
flawless and fluid over the barriers. What will be interesting | :09:05. | :09:08.
for Perri Shakes-Drayton, overwinter, she will look at the | :09:08. | :09:11.
season and think, I will run faster than these women on the flat so I | :09:11. | :09:16.
need to hold my technique. Then I can be competitive and take them on. | :09:16. | :09:20.
I am thinking, this is a good thing for her to have as an quickening. | :09:20. | :09:24.
Let's not get this wrong, she has run a personal best, faster than | :09:24. | :09:30.
she has won before, it is a good sign. The women's four by 400 | :09:30. | :09:34.
metres was a revelation, the fastest in four years, they have | :09:34. | :09:37.
been training really hard, it is athlete to do not see it global | :09:37. | :09:42.
events. Yes, that was good. It was a young squad. Colin knows more | :09:42. | :09:46.
about this but it is the young squad who practised and got the | :09:46. | :09:54.
changeovers slick and right. That has let us down and write. -- that | :09:54. | :09:58.
has let us down the four. The men are going later on, sprinting is in | :09:58. | :10:07.
good shape. Yes, but yesterday, we decided that this was the British | :10:07. | :10:12.
performance of the evening. They haven't run this fast for 12 years. | :10:12. | :10:15.
I think this team will gel together, work harder and they should be able | :10:15. | :10:21.
to approach the British record. Would it be unfair of me to say... | :10:21. | :10:31.
Yes! Jamaica, USA and arouse his going for the muddle. -- everyone | :10:31. | :10:35.
else is going for the medal. cannot give the gold medal to | :10:35. | :10:44.
anybody in the relay, it depends on so many things. Jamaica and the the | :10:44. | :10:48.
US the are still -- the USA are still dominating. Warrener are | :10:48. | :10:53.
looked so comfortable yesterday. He is the baby-faced assassin. -- | :10:53. | :11:03.
Warren Weir. He is on a great run, he is a great runner, he was behind | :11:03. | :11:07.
Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake. He is very effortless. He knows this | :11:07. | :11:11.
event very well indeed. He has learnt from the experts around him, | :11:11. | :11:15.
and he has executed his race phenomenally well for someone who | :11:15. | :11:18.
is not used to the studied environment. It is really good to | :11:18. | :11:24.
see this. All this top-class athletes look like they were | :11:24. | :11:29.
enjoying the arena, and who would not? The Diamond League has many | :11:29. | :11:36.
different stadiums, I do not think many of them are quite like this | :11:36. | :11:40.
one. Bogged down by it -- bogged down by raincoat wanted to do | :11:40. | :11:50.
something special, -- Bohdan Bondarenko. He wanted to double | :11:50. | :11:56.
world record. He did not come super players but to give it a good | :11:56. | :12:01.
attempt. -- he did not come so close but he gave it a good | :12:01. | :12:08.
attempts. He does not enjoy the cloud clapping, he tells the crowd | :12:08. | :12:12.
to be quite so he can concentrate. When I watched him do the final | :12:12. | :12:18.
attempt at the world record, he did not wait for the focus, he brushed | :12:18. | :12:28.
:12:28. | :12:28. | ||
of the jumps so he could get on with it. He only clip to 40. -- | :12:28. | :12:38.
:12:38. | :12:38. | ||
cleared 2.40. It is all about testing and stretching yourself. | :12:38. | :12:47.
Suddenly you get me yet to a world There is a parade going on at the | :12:47. | :12:54.
moment around the arena. There is a great crowd here, they are pulling | :12:55. | :13:00.
out their G B T shirts, they are seeing here is that they saw last | :13:00. | :13:07.
summer. It is hoped that the Times last year would invoke a legacy and | :13:07. | :13:13.
we would keep a belief in sport, and so far so good. Absolutely. I | :13:13. | :13:19.
think a big part of the legacy was this track and this stadium, it was | :13:19. | :13:27.
keen that we kept an athletics track here, so we had a hope of -- | :13:27. | :13:32.
we had a home that we could stay in. Jessica Judd, she was disappointed | :13:32. | :13:40.
not to be here, but she is foreign of the memories of -- she is living | :13:40. | :13:46.
off the memories of the Olympics. We want to hear of her in the next | :13:46. | :13:53.
Olympics, telling us that this was her inspiration. We are set for | :13:53. | :13:57.
another travellers afternoon here. If we think back to a year ago, | :13:57. | :14:02.
there are a couple of days that we will never forget. For Mo Farah and | :14:02. | :14:12.
:14:12. | :14:22. | ||
Jessica Ennis-Hill, it is super So much expectation on the slender | :14:22. | :14:32.
:14:32. | :14:50. | ||
In the 800 it was that really know you have got so far you are | :14:50. | :15:00.
:15:00. | :15:02. | ||
practically bare you can almost touch it. Here goes a Jessica. She | :15:02. | :15:05.
is going to be the Olympic champion. is going to be the Olympic champion. | :15:05. | :15:10.
Everybody is on their feet. The pride of Sheffield and the pride of | :15:10. | :15:20.
:15:20. | :15:45. | ||
Great Britain. Oh, I have done it, Can he fee of this atmosphere? | :15:45. | :15:52.
Quick! It is big! Can you believe what is happening in this stadium | :15:52. | :16:02.
:16:02. | :16:06. | ||
at the moment? 8.31 metres. That is try to forget about it and just be | :16:06. | :16:12.
yourself and think about how hard you at work. The 10,000 final is | :16:12. | :16:22.
under way. There is only one Afellay now that can deny Greg | :16:22. | :16:32.
Rutherford from Olympic gold. That is a foul. Greg Rutherford is the | :16:32. | :16:42.
:16:42. | :16:44. | ||
Olympic champion. I do not think he can quite believe it. | :16:44. | :16:54.
:16:54. | :17:02. | ||
are lifting him. They are cheering him on. He is into their home | :17:02. | :17:08.
straight with just 100 metres to go. Has he got enough? He is going | :17:08. | :17:14.
great. It is going to be a glorious, glorious winner. Mo Farah for Great | :17:14. | :17:24.
:17:24. | :17:30. | ||
Britain, it is cold! -- gold. that really happen? You ask | :17:30. | :17:36.
yourself. Of course it happened. Three gold medals for Great Britain. | :17:36. | :17:46.
:17:46. | :17:55. | ||
Well, here he is, Mo Farah is coming out onto the track to the | :17:55. | :18:02.
kind of adulation and respect that he has so rightly earned. They just | :18:02. | :18:06.
adore him, don't they. They are delighted to see one of their great | :18:06. | :18:11.
heroes return, as Siam, because Brendan Foster and Steve Cram are | :18:12. | :18:15.
in the studio. You know it is a big day when Brendan Foster comes out | :18:15. | :18:20.
to play. Do we fully realise what a great athlete we have in our midst | :18:20. | :18:24.
in Mo Farah and how important he will be historically. | :18:24. | :18:28.
When he walks out there and he knows how well a years running, he | :18:28. | :18:34.
sees the crowd and this year he is even better than he was last year. | :18:35. | :18:38.
To feel like he feels intrinsically from his training and to walk out | :18:38. | :18:41.
here and see the crowd and know he will be back in a few hours and | :18:41. | :18:45.
give everyone something to shout about, it is such a glorious time | :18:45. | :18:48.
for him and for everybody. This is the greatest track meet we have | :18:48. | :18:54.
ever seen in Great Britain. Two days and more people than ever | :18:54. | :19:01.
before. This is a fantastic show here. These are great times for | :19:01. | :19:05.
athletics, thanks to the Olympics and what UK Athletics have done it | :19:05. | :19:11.
is wonderful. And to have no here, I am really excited. Everybody is | :19:11. | :19:15.
doing the mobot behind you. I will not force you to do it but they are | :19:15. | :19:25.
lapping it up. We saw him last week take Steve's 1,500 metre record. | :19:25. | :19:29.
Could he take David Moorcroft's record to date? | :19:29. | :19:34.
If he wants to. Absolutely no question. You cannot have his | :19:34. | :19:39.
endurance and not be able to win. The conditions are pretty good. It | :19:39. | :19:44.
is really whether he wants to do it or not. He has been in St Moritz | :19:44. | :19:49.
since Monaco and he is preparing for the World Championships and we | :19:49. | :19:53.
have to remind ourselves of that. As great as it was in Monaco, his | :19:53. | :19:57.
quest is to win two gold medals so he is choosing his races carefully | :19:57. | :20:01.
to do that. If he wants to run that hard today he can do that he can | :20:01. | :20:06.
win the race as he wishes. I would like to see him run a little bit | :20:06. | :20:09.
harder than we sometimes see him in these events because this crowd | :20:09. | :20:13.
have come here to see him do that. His light changed here last year | :20:13. | :20:20.
and he has on -- been on the quest to winner's medals for a while but | :20:20. | :20:26.
his life changed here and these people want to see him run hard. | :20:26. | :20:32.
Everybody knows he spends a lot of his time training in Oregon and his | :20:32. | :20:36.
coach is American and when he comes back antique is on the shores he is | :20:36. | :20:41.
so proud to wear his British best. Yes, a lot of his roots are here. | :20:41. | :20:45.
He will be watching the football all the time he is away and staying | :20:45. | :20:49.
in touch and he is British and so being in the stadium will bring | :20:49. | :20:53.
back so many memories from last year. He is in a purple patch now | :20:53. | :20:58.
where I don't think he realises how easy it is and sometimes his | :20:58. | :21:04.
surprises you how easily it is coming. His main focus is Moscow so | :21:04. | :21:13.
he may decide to run a bit more tactically to date. You never know. | :21:13. | :21:19.
Let us talk a bit more. You have done your bit with your races | :21:19. | :21:24.
around the country and when you are out and about in the last year what | :21:24. | :21:27.
have you seem to know that it is 9 million well spent and people are | :21:27. | :21:35.
still participating and enjoying You see more people and you see | :21:35. | :21:39.
more events. The interesting thing for me of that in the early years - | :21:39. | :21:43.
- years there were only a very small percentage of women who took | :21:43. | :21:48.
part in running events but almost 50% of women now which goes a | :21:48. | :21:53.
little bit unsung but it has been a major change. The thing about it is | :21:53. | :21:57.
that it is easy to do. You don't have to join anything to do it and | :21:57. | :22:01.
at the end of the day running is what everybody does quite easily. | :22:01. | :22:06.
This inspiration is not to be frowned at. Watching people do what | :22:06. | :22:10.
we have seen in the last few months and the last few years in Britain | :22:10. | :22:14.
has just been fantastic and I think he's a great times. The interesting | :22:14. | :22:20.
thing for me is that the government has finally realised that the sport | :22:20. | :22:25.
and the participation in sport can be a force for good. Partition -- | :22:25. | :22:28.
participation in sport can be a force for fitness and health and | :22:28. | :22:34.
instead of using sport as a political weapon and in our day we | :22:34. | :22:38.
were trying to withdraw from the 1980 Olympics and now governments | :22:38. | :22:41.
have realised that sport is important so let us forget about | :22:41. | :22:45.
Boycott's and stop using it as a foreign policy and just use it as a | :22:45. | :22:51.
benefit for the people in the nation. That has been a fantastic | :22:51. | :22:53.
transformation. To answer that I think you have got | :22:53. | :23:00.
to take the positive vibe and turn that inspiration into something a | :23:00. | :23:08.
bit more solid, in the sense that we have got to support sport. We | :23:08. | :23:12.
must continue to support sport because there are young people will | :23:12. | :23:15.
want to take part and we need coaches and we need facilities and | :23:15. | :23:19.
we need the volunteer factors supported. We have got a great | :23:19. | :23:24.
opportunity to build on London. We have got a world championships here | :23:24. | :23:28.
in four years. Is it too top-heavy? | :23:28. | :23:32.
It is not that it is top heavy but it was targeted at winning medals | :23:32. | :23:36.
and bringing major events to the UK and we have now got them and what | :23:36. | :23:42.
we now have to do is underpin it with more funding for sport. We are | :23:42. | :23:46.
all going to sit here and say that and the government will say it | :23:46. | :23:51.
differently because there are other challenges and money is tough for | :23:51. | :23:54.
local authorities and central government and we have got to show | :23:54. | :23:57.
and I think we have done here, a year on from the Games, that people | :23:57. | :24:01.
care about this. They want to see us continue to be good at sports so | :24:01. | :24:06.
we have to support those who are helping our youngsters and show | :24:06. | :24:12.
them where they can do it and how to become Mo Farah. | :24:12. | :24:18.
The glow of positivity is still very much on a year on and 11% of | :24:18. | :24:22.
people have increased their participation in short but where | :24:22. | :24:27.
will we be in 10 years' time? -- participation in sport. | :24:27. | :24:32.
We have had the 12 months of our sport and if you look at the | :24:32. | :24:34.
response of the British public, they have always liked running and | :24:34. | :24:39.
they have always liked athletics and has been around for a long time. | :24:39. | :24:43.
We were brought up in the days of tales about White City and Roger | :24:43. | :24:49.
Bannister and over the years all of us here were inspired by previous | :24:49. | :24:53.
generations and Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill are going to be | :24:53. | :24:56.
inspiring other generations. Now there is a movement behind it and | :24:56. | :25:00.
it is a positive movement and it is for the good and it is a privileged | :25:00. | :25:06.
to be in amongst it for me. It is about the health of the country as | :25:06. | :25:09.
well. We are not just talking about achieving an winning medals at the | :25:09. | :25:13.
top level, we are talking about increasing productivity and helping | :25:13. | :25:18.
kids perform at school if they are involved in sport so we must have | :25:18. | :25:24.
the infrastructure supported as well. I have just heard that Mo | :25:24. | :25:33.
Farah's twin is here -- twins are here so the next generation. | :25:34. | :25:40.
Well, it is a bit early. The one thing I will say and Paul will back | :25:40. | :25:44.
me up is that having a young family puts added pressure and Mo has done | :25:44. | :25:52.
a brilliant job in managing that with his wife. He wants to see his | :25:52. | :25:59.
kids as well. I think his coach would have been locked away every | :25:59. | :26:02.
single day just concentrating on his training that he gets the | :26:02. | :26:06.
balance right and it is great that they are here because Tanya here | :26:06. | :26:13.
last year the twins were just to do. It is great to get from family life | :26:13. | :26:22.
advice from Steve! We will get yours later, Brendan. | :26:22. | :26:25.
Seriously though to handle the adulation and the pressure and the | :26:25. | :26:29.
family and then keep performing, not even the same, but that on the | :26:29. | :26:34.
track, how does he do that? Sometimes it helps and sometimes | :26:34. | :26:37.
kids are the absolute best level and they will come home and they | :26:37. | :26:41.
will put everything in perspective and they are what is important. At | :26:41. | :26:44.
the same time he wants to keep the normality there through them but he | :26:44. | :26:48.
also wants to perform up there to support them as well as possible. | :26:48. | :26:52.
Well, something at the moment of Jessica Ennis-Hill does not have to | :26:52. | :26:58.
worry about, she is newly married, but the things she is concerned and | :26:58. | :27:01.
the last few months is the injury to wear ankle and she is out there | :27:01. | :27:04.
now ready to compete in the hurdles and this is going to be a huge test | :27:04. | :27:07.
for her. Whether she comes through this or not will determine whether | :27:07. | :27:10.
we see her in Moscow in a few weeks' time. | :27:10. | :27:19.
Yes, she will be very nervous. She walked out on that first morning | :27:19. | :27:24.
and it was full and she was the first person there who ran a | :27:24. | :27:28.
British record and is set her off on the way to that gold medal. It | :27:28. | :27:32.
is a very different scenario here today. She wants to come through | :27:32. | :27:37.
this safely and talk -- and I talked to her coach yesterday and | :27:37. | :27:41.
he said she had run in under 13 seconds. The injury has been | :27:41. | :27:47.
niggling away. I don't think she genuinely thought she was going to | :27:47. | :27:52.
be here but that is positive, she is here and there she is on the | :27:52. | :27:55.
upward slope towards Moscow so if she comes through this well and she | :27:55. | :27:58.
have the long jump later Ron Sommer to the big day, but don't expect | :27:58. | :28:02.
too much from her in the hurdles but knowing her she will produce | :28:02. | :28:06.
just that little bit more. She looks up to it. | :28:06. | :28:12.
Yes of course she is up for it. I saw her earlier in the week in | :28:12. | :28:18.
Sheffield getting some treatment and she is never anything other | :28:18. | :28:24.
than positive. She put pressure... All good athletes put pressure on | :28:24. | :28:27.
the doctor and the physio and the coach and asked when they can get | :28:27. | :28:30.
back out and train and how art can they push it because that is what | :28:30. | :28:36.
she wants to do. She wants to be in Moscow winning the gold medal. | :28:36. | :28:41.
Head coach is sitting over there and he looks as nervous as we are. | :28:41. | :28:45.
The only reason she is here is that the British public drew her here. | :28:45. | :28:49.
She could not resist. This is her stage but this theatre will not be | :28:49. | :28:52.
open again for a couple of years so she could not resist coming here. | :28:52. | :29:01.
It is fantastic. You will see his - - you will see her coach in the | :29:01. | :29:06.
background heckling after! There he is, give us a wave. | :29:06. | :29:12.
He is going to come and join me and watch Jessica from here. Is that a | :29:12. | :29:16.
good thing? Is he nervous watch a? He can be. | :29:16. | :29:20.
I had got a favourite picture from the Olympic Games which I showed | :29:20. | :29:23.
him in December which was him, he is a bit of a soft touch at times, | :29:23. | :29:28.
and bit of a tear in his eye, looking at hour monitor when | :29:28. | :29:34.
Jessica Ennis-Hill was getting her a medal. The crowd were oblivious | :29:34. | :29:38.
that he was the man who spotted her and discovered a. He is looking at | :29:38. | :29:43.
me now that he does not know what I am saying so do not tell him! | :29:43. | :29:46.
You will be commentating on this untested afternoon so let us remind | :29:46. | :29:56.
:29:56. | :29:56. | ||
Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds | :29:56. | :30:44.
ourselves of some of the other A fantastic afternoon in store for | :30:44. | :30:54.
:30:54. | :31:03. | ||
metres hurdles, Aries Merritt in the second rate. And a couple of | :31:03. | :31:08.
great 100 metres women's for you. The Emsley Carr Mile is coming up | :31:08. | :31:18.
later. 400 metres at 3:55pm, Christine Ohuruogu going in that. | :31:18. | :31:24.
We can look forward to Mo Farah on the track at 4:30pm. Then it is the | :31:24. | :31:30.
relay featuring a Usain Bolt at 4:50pm. You can follow all the | :31:30. | :31:40.
:31:40. | :31:43. | ||
action on BBC Sport, our Twitter, Facebook and other pages. It is | :31:43. | :31:47.
worth following us even if it is the next few weeks, we are going to | :31:47. | :31:52.
be reporting everything one year on exactly from the Olympics. It has | :31:52. | :31:56.
been an incredible year for Jessica Ennis-Hill, she got married for one, | :31:56. | :32:02.
and she even cannot believe that it is 12 months since those glorious | :32:02. | :32:12.
:32:12. | :32:22. | ||
days. The biggest cheer of all will I cannot believe, firstly, that it | :32:22. | :32:29.
is in here on it still feels very surreal that it was that huge run | :32:29. | :32:32.
it in my career, it all came together and I was able to achieve | :32:33. | :32:37.
my dreams. I still see that image of the crossing the line, whether | :32:38. | :32:41.
it is on an advert or something that I have come across, and it | :32:41. | :32:46.
gives me goose bumps. I cannot believe that I was able to achieve | :32:46. | :32:50.
that. It is going to be so strange been back in that environment again. | :32:50. | :32:54.
One or was there for the Olympics hurdling, I was thinking, I will | :32:54. | :32:59.
never have this opportunity again. At the same time I am in a very | :32:59. | :33:03.
different situations. Last year, I was 100% ready to compete. This | :33:04. | :33:08.
year, I am not quite as prepared as I would have liked to have been. I | :33:08. | :33:13.
am so glad I have finally started my season. Are to go to | :33:13. | :33:17.
Loughborough and through a personal best in the javelin was great, that | :33:17. | :33:22.
has given me confidence. One event down, I have got cess the rest. | :33:22. | :33:27.
This will be a good opportunity to hurdle in a world class field and | :33:28. | :33:32.
long jump, Sea haddock comes together. I just -- see how it | :33:32. | :33:35.
comes together. I keep thinking, thank God it is not last year and | :33:35. | :33:39.
for it to have happened this year is frustrating but if it was this | :33:39. | :33:43.
time around the London Olympics last year, it would have been | :33:44. | :33:47.
absolutely devastating. Where does this fit in in terms of the | :33:47. | :33:51.
ultimate test of form, whether you can compete in the world | :33:51. | :33:56.
championships? Unless you were in world championship contention, you | :33:56. | :34:02.
do not want to go in as an also ran. I only want to go in if I know I am | :34:02. | :34:08.
pretty much ready to contend for the gold medal. It is going to be a | :34:08. | :34:12.
good indication, this weekend, to see how the hurdles and long jump | :34:12. | :34:17.
goes, where I am physically. How my Achilles holds up for those two | :34:17. | :34:21.
events. A couple of days after that as well. It is going to be a good | :34:21. | :34:26.
test. I hope to make a decision shortly after that. There she is, | :34:26. | :34:32.
just a few moments away from the 100 metre hurdles. Toni Miniechello, | :34:32. | :34:38.
or weak have been talking about him, we can now talk to him. Good | :34:38. | :34:43.
afternoon. Steve was saying you were very emotional last year, but | :34:43. | :34:47.
the gold medal moment, it said it was one of his favourite photos of | :34:47. | :34:53.
the Olympics, senior watching Jessica get her muddle. He says I | :34:53. | :34:57.
was emotional, I will never admit that! It is good to be back, it is | :34:58. | :35:01.
different this time round. When did you make the decision to go the | :35:02. | :35:09.
today? That was made after Thursday this week, we needed to give the | :35:09. | :35:12.
injury and 48 hours after Loughborough to make sure it would | :35:12. | :35:17.
not react badly, it has not. Protect it yesterday and it seems | :35:17. | :35:22.
OK. It has been a mixed year for you and her, a complete contrast | :35:22. | :35:26.
for last year. You would not have wanted this going into the Olympic | :35:27. | :35:30.
Games. It must be frustrating when you cannot back up a brilliant | :35:30. | :35:39.
summer with a world Championship. It is frustrating, but it comes | :35:39. | :35:44.
with athletics. Athletes do get injured and things happen. You | :35:44. | :35:48.
would not want it in any year. It is never a good year to be injured. | :35:48. | :35:53.
A lot of good things have happened to her this year, there was a | :35:53. | :35:57.
wedding this year, I am sure it she is happy enough. What have you said | :35:57. | :36:02.
to her about how to approach this race? I want to -- I want her to | :36:02. | :36:07.
come through it a injury-free. I would like to have started out more | :36:07. | :36:14.
low-key than the 100 metres in front of 65,000 people. It is to | :36:14. | :36:18.
get through it injury free and then it is the next 48 hours, to make | :36:18. | :36:22.
sure there is a reaction to it and then we will assess it began. | :36:22. | :36:28.
go down to Cologne who is by the start line. -- Colin Jackson. She | :36:28. | :36:35.
can see him there, he is concentrating on her face. There is | :36:35. | :36:43.
a lot of tension down here. It is a bit blustery again, they could be | :36:43. | :36:48.
struggling at the back end of the race. This field is full of talent. | :36:48. | :36:52.
We have got the Olympic champion Sally Pearson, who has struggled | :36:52. | :36:58.
yet again. She is walking forward to us. She has been injured again. | :36:58. | :37:02.
She is coming back, and these hurdles become more of an obstacle | :37:02. | :37:06.
when you return from injury. Then we have Jessica Ennis-Hill. She is | :37:06. | :37:11.
telling her back on us. She is just composing herself once again to get | :37:11. | :37:17.
ready for the competition. It is full of talent, this competition. | :37:17. | :37:20.
Tiffany Porter, Britain's No. 1, she is a real strong contender in | :37:20. | :37:24.
the world championships. All of that talent, there is Kellie Wells, | :37:24. | :37:30.
she just missed out on the US team. He has a personal best of 12.54, | :37:30. | :37:35.
not quite quick enough. This will be a blanket finish. Over to the | :37:35. | :37:45.
:37:45. | :37:46. | ||
We will get a commentary in a moment. I just want one more word | :37:46. | :37:51.
on whether today is the date you decide where the go to Moscow. | :37:51. | :37:55.
it is not as clear cut as that. We will take a few days after this to | :37:55. | :38:00.
see how the injury reactors, and then see what training we can get | :38:00. | :38:03.
in the next week. She will go out late into the holding camp if we go | :38:03. | :38:07.
there, or maybe we will go direct to Moscow. We need to look at and | :38:07. | :38:12.
make decisions on those. Relationships with coaches is so | :38:12. | :38:16.
vital. These are the Times, it is so good being together in the good | :38:16. | :38:19.
times, but they have got a fantastic relationship. These are | :38:19. | :38:25.
the days when it counts. Exactly, that is what we talk about, the | :38:25. | :38:30.
legacy record in the club coaches. That is where he started out and | :38:30. | :38:33.
they are there through the tough times, making the crucial decisions | :38:33. | :38:36.
which can make or break would you go to a championships or whether | :38:36. | :38:40.
you stay at home and think, I could have one. You do not want to take | :38:40. | :38:45.
that risk. Tony is starting to twiddle his fingers, it is nearly | :38:45. | :38:50.
race time. We are here for you, it is nearly time. Let's Join the | :38:50. | :39:00.
:39:00. | :39:03. | ||
waiting to be introduced to the crowd. Another full house in | :39:03. | :39:08.
brilliant sunshine, the forecast was not great. But it is a bit | :39:08. | :39:14.
breezy down there. Nia Ali does not start, so we have got to the line | :39:14. | :39:24.
:39:24. | :39:39. | ||
competitive event in the world. The 100 metre hurdles for women's. | :39:39. | :39:42.
Shermaine Williams made the semi- finals of the Olympics, she has not | :39:42. | :39:47.
been quick this year. Watch out for Yvette Lewis in it Labour three. | :39:47. | :39:52.
She only made the US semi-final championships, but in the last | :39:52. | :39:57.
couple of races, she has run a new personal best. She was second in | :39:57. | :40:01.
Monaco last week. Kellie Wells, the Olympic bronze medallist. What a | :40:01. | :40:07.
great race it was last here. As Colin it just mentioned, despite | :40:07. | :40:12.
running 12.54, she did not make the team, she was 4th in the trials. | :40:12. | :40:15.
Talking about coming right from injury, the world and Olympic | :40:15. | :40:19.
champion Sally Pearson, still trying to find her best form. Her | :40:19. | :40:23.
first race back after her hamstring injury was good, but she has | :40:23. | :40:27.
struggled after that. Normally, Tiffany Porter you would say was | :40:27. | :40:30.
Britain's No. 1 had levelled up when the heptathlete of not taking | :40:31. | :40:39.
part, that is! She is the UK champion. Let's listen to the roar | :40:39. | :40:49.
:40:49. | :41:00. | ||
Hildebrand, the German champions. I was saying a few minutes ago, that | :41:00. | :41:04.
first morning, the first event which set the tone for the whole | :41:04. | :41:07.
athletics programme and said Jessica or on her way to the gold | :41:07. | :41:16.
medal, that 12.54 clocking, it is the British record. Tiffany Porter | :41:16. | :41:20.
is the second fastest. No records are expected today. It will be a | :41:20. | :41:24.
safe, good performance from Jess Ennis-Hill, one which she can carry | :41:24. | :41:30.
forward, the long jumper to run. It will hopefully give her the | :41:30. | :41:37.
confidence to give the decision about going to Moscow. Watch in the | :41:37. | :41:41.
middle lanes, Yvette Lewis, Kellie Wells, Sally Pearson and Tiffany | :41:41. | :41:51.
:41:51. | :41:59. | ||
Wells. Alongside her, Jessica Ennis-Hill. Sally Pearson, she won | :41:59. | :42:03.
the World Weddle last year. It is going to be Sally Pearson who wins | :42:03. | :42:07.
it from Tiffany Porter. Jessica Ennis-Hill could have got 4th or | :42:07. | :42:16.
5th. That team is -- that run is much better from Sally Pearson. She | :42:16. | :42:19.
finished really well that time. A solid performance from Jess, she | :42:19. | :42:23.
will be happy to come through that. She looks like she has a smile on | :42:23. | :42:29.
her face. Look how much it means to Sally Pearson. A season's best for | :42:29. | :42:34.
her. She won up well in her -- she ran well in her first race, she had | :42:34. | :42:38.
not been able to move on from that and will today. She may well be | :42:38. | :42:40.
able to go with some confidence towards the championships and | :42:40. | :42:47.
defend her world title. nation's favourite coming back from | :42:47. | :42:50.
injury, Sally Pearson, Australia will be happy with this because she | :42:50. | :42:55.
has had problems. A very impressive season's best for her. Four Jessica | :42:55. | :43:01.
Ennis-Hill Hill, as she is now known, it is about getting in there. | :43:01. | :43:06.
She finished strongly, it is about not feeling any tweaks or twinges. | :43:06. | :43:11.
Coming over the hurdles if you have an injury, that is where it will be | :43:11. | :43:16.
felt more. Impressive from Sally Pearson. She took it out from the | :43:16. | :43:25.
start and through the Lanka all the way, she looked very strong. Sally | :43:25. | :43:28.
Tippett -- Sally Pearson is a great technician, she has not finished so | :43:28. | :43:35.
well in the last few races. Jess, nice safely out of the blocks, a | :43:35. | :43:42.
decent reaction, you can understand how she was not so fast. You can | :43:42. | :43:48.
see their she will be pleased with the way she finished a the race. | :43:48. | :43:54.
She finished ahead of Yvette Lewis, just outside of 13 seconds. It will | :43:54. | :43:59.
be interesting to get her coach's view. We look forward to seeing her | :44:00. | :44:08.
Alongside me, the winner Sally Pearson, and Jess. I thought your | :44:08. | :44:13.
face on the start gave it all away. You were more relaxed its at the | :44:14. | :44:21.
start of the heptathlete event in the Olympics. This, this was my | :44:21. | :44:26.
first event since the Olympics, having this injury, I could not | :44:26. | :44:32.
have prepared as well. It was great to be here but I was disappointed | :44:32. | :44:39.
with my time. You finished strongly, you must be pleased with that. | :44:39. | :44:43.
I am lacking the speed though. By any guests started on the had us | :44:43. | :44:48.
this week, it is expected. -- I only just started on the hurdles | :44:48. | :44:53.
this week. You have time to get this changed the thought Moscow? | :44:53. | :44:58.
And will have a chat with my coach and see if we can change things | :44:58. | :45:03.
before Moscow. Good luck with the long jump. Congratulations, Sally, | :45:03. | :45:08.
a contrast of remissions, shedding light on your face. It is all | :45:08. | :45:16.
coming together after two a hamstring tears. That is not easy | :45:16. | :45:21.
to come back from. I was so nervous. I was ready, I knew I could do this. | :45:21. | :45:26.
It still wasn't perfect, but there are parts that I was going to be | :45:26. | :45:33.
cautious on. I just want to stay here! It was just a matter of | :45:33. | :45:36.
putting the race together and getting over the finish line. I did | :45:36. | :45:42.
that, I am happy with that, it is not a fast race. I am happy that I | :45:42. | :45:47.
came out on top of these goals today. Just come up I was nervous | :45:48. | :45:54.
of her in the warm-up, I was never sure what she was going to do, she | :45:54. | :46:00.
is a freak! We were she well in Moscow. -- We wish you well in | :46:00. | :46:10.
:46:10. | :46:21. | ||
delighted to get that victory. delighted to get that victory. | :46:21. | :46:28.
Jessica Ennis-Hill came in 4th. We will get at the reaction from | :46:28. | :46:34.
her coach now. What you make of it all? I think even listening to | :46:34. | :46:37.
Jessica there she will be a little bit disappointed with at the time | :46:37. | :46:41.
but if you try and balance that with finishing 4th, there is nobody | :46:41. | :46:45.
on her left hand side which means that she lost contact -- lost | :46:45. | :46:49.
contact with the other athletes so there are positive and negative to | :46:49. | :46:54.
draw from it. We will sit down and have the discussion. It is probably | :46:54. | :46:58.
where you would expect her to start the season, not being an out and | :46:58. | :47:04.
out hurdler. She is playing catch- up now, if she just ring rusty? | :47:04. | :47:08.
hope so but there is certainly possibly the need for another race | :47:08. | :47:12.
before she goes off to Moscow to be certain she is back in shape | :47:13. | :47:17.
because this event she is strong in so you must put that stamp on the | :47:17. | :47:22.
heptathlon when you start. In the Olympic she started so | :47:22. | :47:28.
fantastically and she wants to make sure she has down there or | :47:28. | :47:33.
thereabouts before she commits. You want a time that opens up at | :47:33. | :47:38.
around 12.8. That is doable and it gives you a good start and puts you | :47:38. | :47:43.
in line for a nice score that will be very competitive. So, reasons to | :47:43. | :47:47.
be cheerful, Colin. You are watching it Britannica lies. What | :47:47. | :47:53.
do you say? Technically there is nothing wrong with it. People tend | :47:53. | :47:58.
to forget that in hurdles you get very rusty and you have to practise | :47:59. | :48:04.
running at pace in an offer every single barrier -- barrier. Sally | :48:04. | :48:08.
Pearson has lost four metres on her best form purely because of injury | :48:08. | :48:13.
and not being able to get back into the groove. Jessica is exactly the | :48:13. | :48:17.
same. Sometimes we expect too much from our superstar athletes. She | :48:17. | :48:22.
needs to get back into racing mode yet again and run off every single | :48:22. | :48:32.
barrier aggressively and properly. She, Sally, has run quite a lot of | :48:32. | :48:36.
races. She performed really well here and she is also benefiting | :48:36. | :48:41.
from those memories last year. When Jessica Ken Knight you saw her | :48:41. | :48:49.
close her eyes and remember and she has to call herself into getting | :48:49. | :48:54.
back into that shape. She just needs a little bit of a myth -- | :48:54. | :49:00.
little bit of a lift. She has the long jump now, are you going to go | :49:00. | :49:05.
and spend a bit of time with her? Yes, we will go would have a bit of | :49:05. | :49:08.
a chat and a bit of a post-mortem after that event and then we will | :49:08. | :49:12.
move on and start dealing with the long jump. What sort of friend of | :49:12. | :49:22.
:49:22. | :49:22. | ||
Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds | :49:22. | :50:16.
mine was she being? I do not know! magical times on this track last | :50:16. | :50:23.
year. It was astonishing. There has been a trail of injuries and | :50:23. | :50:33.
:50:33. | :50:35. | ||
hamstring problems which hampered his progress. Watch out for the men | :50:35. | :50:45.
:50:45. | :50:48. | ||
in the middle. A youngster from Warrington goes on the outside. | :50:48. | :50:56.
That is an Martin Mazac who is twice the Czech champion. Alongside | :50:56. | :51:00.
him is the elder of the Martyn Oates leg guards brothers. They are | :51:00. | :51:10.
both going very well this season. - - Thomas Martinot-Lagarde. That is | :51:10. | :51:14.
Orlando Ortega. He is Cuban and make the final last year. He has | :51:14. | :51:24.
lowered his personal best this year and he is going very well. David | :51:24. | :51:34.
Oliver. He is the fastest in the world this year. He has been | :51:34. | :51:39.
unbeatable. Ryan Wilson is the recently crowned US champion. He | :51:39. | :51:44.
has been taking advantage of and the still recovering Aires Merritt. | :51:44. | :51:53.
The Dutch champion is just 20 years old. He has had a personal best | :51:53. | :52:03.
this season. Lawrence Clarke, he really was incredible, finishing | :52:03. | :52:06.
4th in the Olympic final last August and this season have been | :52:06. | :52:11.
blighted by injury. What can experience for James Gladman. He is | :52:12. | :52:17.
from Warrington and studying at the University of Bath. 13.71 this | :52:17. | :52:23.
season. It is all about the experience. So, it is the first | :52:23. | :52:26.
three, plus the two fastest that will go through to the final just | :52:26. | :52:36.
:52:36. | :52:36. | ||

after 4pm. In lane to a Martin them up but then he stumbled and he | :53:18. | :53:28.
:53:28. | :53:30. | ||
is down. It is going to be David Oliver bringing them home. Orlando | :53:30. | :53:40.
:53:40. | :53:40. | ||
Ortega is out. The windows to David Oliver. Orlando Ortega seems to be | :53:40. | :53:47.
OK but not for him here in London over these two days. | :53:47. | :53:51.
It is good to see because there was a horrible accident in laws than a | :53:51. | :53:56.
couple of weeks ago with an athletes stumbling over and | :53:56. | :54:00.
breaking his leg horribly. David Oliver, the fastest man in the | :54:00. | :54:05.
world, safely through. Ryan Wilson had a messy race but he also made | :54:05. | :54:11.
it through in third place. Yes, that for did look nasty but a | :54:11. | :54:18.
few rolls and he was up and at them. It left David Oliver out and clear | :54:18. | :54:23.
but it is disappointing for Ryan Wilson. | :54:23. | :54:29.
Colin Jackson is never far away. It is uncomfortable to see a hurdler | :54:29. | :54:32.
coming a cropper. This time last year have to | :54:32. | :54:35.
remember that the hurdlers struggled along with this surface | :54:35. | :54:38.
and they found it bouncy and it pushed them on to the hurdles at a | :54:39. | :54:42.
quicker than they are used to but once they got into the groove they | :54:42. | :54:46.
ran very quickly indeed. I think these athletes may just have been | :54:46. | :54:51.
suffering from that. Orlando Ortega is from Cuba and he gets off the | :54:51. | :54:55.
blocks very well and he works hard into it but he has lacked racing | :54:55. | :55:01.
this year. He has got this very quick time under his belt but he | :55:01. | :55:05.
lacks the race scale compared to David Oliver who is returning from | :55:05. | :55:10.
injury and looking very strong indeed. He rolls over these | :55:10. | :55:15.
barriers wonderfully well. He has strong at the technique and | :55:15. | :55:19.
everybody says to watch him at the World Championships because he is | :55:19. | :55:25.
coming right into great shape as he is demonstrating here. Thomas | :55:25. | :55:28.
Martinot-Lagarde did very well there as well because he was | :55:28. | :55:35.
slightly bothered by Ock Orlando Ortega going over there. The three | :55:36. | :55:40.
who go through art David Oliver, Thomas Martinot-Lagarde and Ryan | :55:40. | :55:47.
Wilson, automatically through to the final. | :55:47. | :55:49.
Chris Tomlinson of Great Britain will have two things on his mind | :55:49. | :55:54.
today, to try and maximise his Diamond League points during this | :55:54. | :56:00.
series of meetings but he also has one eye on qualification for Moscow. | :56:00. | :56:05.
8.25 is what is required. That is his have -- that is his first jump | :56:05. | :56:10.
and it is close to eight metres. No one has been over eight metres so | :56:10. | :56:15.
far in this round. Included in the line-up we have Alexandr Menkov who | :56:15. | :56:20.
we know quite well in this country because he won the Birmingham | :56:20. | :56:27.
meeting and the championships at Gateshead. The great Dwight | :56:27. | :56:35.
Phillips from the United States, former Olympic and world champion. | :56:35. | :56:41.
7.99 for Chris Tomlinson. He is in the lead. | :56:41. | :56:51.
This is one of the best athletes on display here today, it is the shot | :56:51. | :56:56.
put. She is twice an Olympic champion, world champion as well. | :56:56. | :57:00.
What an athlete she is! Looking with great interest as to how far | :57:00. | :57:07.
this one is. She has dominated the competition so far. | :57:07. | :57:10.
competition so far. What a great shot that is. Never | :57:10. | :57:15.
tire of seeing the Olympic Stadium of from overhead. I cannot believe | :57:15. | :57:22.
this whether either. We were warned all week of rain but it has stayed | :57:22. | :57:26.
dry. We will have the chance this afternoon to revisit some other | :57:26. | :57:30.
sports from last year and meet some of the other great Olympians who | :57:30. | :57:40.
:57:40. | :57:48. | ||
brought us so much joy. We will Tim Bailie and Etienne Stott, this | :57:48. | :57:53.
is looking great for Great Britain. He has such great strength. | :57:53. | :57:57.
Powering on. This could be a medal run of four | :57:57. | :58:01.
Great Britain. Great Britain are flying here! | :58:01. | :58:05.
Oh, my goodness! Tim Bailie and Etienne Stott are through the | :58:05. | :58:11.
finish line and the Olympic champions. Absolutely brilliant. | :58:11. | :58:18.
It is gold and the crowd let out a roar! | :58:18. | :58:23.
I am delighted to say that one half of that gold medal is here. Etienne | :58:23. | :58:31.
Stott is with me but no Tim Bailie to date. He is badly injured. | :58:31. | :58:35.
Sadly I am injured because I dislocated my shoulder so we are | :58:35. | :58:38.
ruled out for the rest of the season and probably the rest of the | :58:38. | :58:41.
year but at least I am here. Absolutely, tell us a bit about the | :58:42. | :58:46.
last year and how you live changed. It is just incredible. Coming back | :58:46. | :58:51.
here has brought back so many memories. We have had an MBA and we | :58:51. | :58:57.
have spoken to so many people -- MBE. We have visited so many | :58:57. | :59:00.
schools and the buzz is so fantastic. One year on it still | :59:00. | :59:05.
seems like a dream. Is amazing. What about your sport and the | :59:05. | :59:09.
uptake and the interest? Have there been a buzz within the sport? | :59:09. | :59:16.
quite hard to tell but there is the -- canoe slalom is a very small | :59:16. | :59:21.
sport and it always has been but a platform like the Olympics has been | :59:21. | :59:29.
a huge boost. The clubs I am involved in have had a huge legacy | :59:29. | :59:33.
scheme and we hope elite breeding the next generation of champions. | :59:33. | :59:39.
You are going to miss the next world championships are you going | :59:39. | :59:43.
to Rio? We haven't decided. We decided to go year by year because | :59:43. | :59:46.
how can we top last year but we love what we do and we are | :59:46. | :59:51.
fortunate to be funded full-time by the National Lottery and we are | :59:51. | :59:54.
amazing is supported and it is such a great environment to be and so it | :59:54. | :59:58.
is a shame to leave it. We have to do one job at a time and that is my | :59:58. | :00:02.
shoulder at the moment. Real life will come back one day but put off | :00:02. | :00:06.
for as long as you can! Absolutely, we will be retired for a long time | :00:06. | :00:10.
and I love what I do so we want to carry on. Was there a moment in the | :00:11. | :00:15.
last year where real life just kind of landed again and you fell either | :00:15. | :00:19.
by have had gone a bit and it felt like you were back in the hard days | :00:19. | :00:24.
of training? It is hard to say. You get used to it somewhat but once in | :00:24. | :00:27.
a while you watch a bit of video or someone added just hits you like a | :00:27. | :00:32.
train, I am Olympic champion still and it is amazing. I guess it | :00:32. | :00:37.
doesn't settle down really. That is good. Lovely to see you. From one | :00:37. | :00:47.
:00:47. | :00:47. | ||
Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds | :00:47. | :02:15.
coming back, William Sharman will figure. He has run very fast. Jeff | :02:15. | :02:21.
Porter, the husband of Tiffany Porter who we saw in the 100 metre | :02:21. | :02:31.
:02:31. | :02:34. | ||
hurdles. Gianni Frankis, coached by Tony Jarrett. He ran pretty well in | :02:34. | :02:43.
the UK championships. He is finding good form this year. I think for | :02:43. | :02:49.
Aries Merritt, this is a big test, another test on his way back. Could | :02:49. | :02:53.
not do anything wrong last year, and then start of the season | :02:53. | :02:58.
reasonably well, and then that race in Shanghai, he tore his hamstring. | :02:58. | :03:02.
He has had a lot of problems since then, a lot of treatment. He got | :03:02. | :03:07.
through the American trials. He is the defending world champion, he | :03:07. | :03:14.
has a wild card. Managed to finish third. So he will be there to | :03:14. | :03:18.
defend and try and make it an Arabic and world championship gold- | :03:18. | :03:28.
:03:28. | :03:33. | ||
medal in Moscow. -- Olympic and Aries Merritt. He is starting to | :03:33. | :03:39.
pull away. This is more like it from Aries Merritt. Aries Merritt | :03:39. | :03:46.
wins, 13.14. That was more like it, he looked more relaxed, more | :03:46. | :03:51.
comfortable. He got a decent start, he got into his running nicely. | :03:51. | :03:55.
That is as good as three seen him this year. You run it quicker in | :03:55. | :04:02.
Paris, and will be interesting to it get the comments from Colin. It | :04:02. | :04:07.
is this season's best for William Sharman. Was that better for Aries | :04:07. | :04:13.
Merritt? You knew I was going to say something! He is pushing for a | :04:13. | :04:18.
time. Two wants to the aggressor to the first barrier, he does the | :04:18. | :04:24.
seven stride approach, now he is chasing. He is pushing hard. He is | :04:24. | :04:28.
no longer shuffling between the barriers. He could sprint easier | :04:28. | :04:35.
last year. He works hard and you must remember, the wind was plus | :04:35. | :04:40.
1.3. When you have got his leg length, that is a real burden. He | :04:40. | :04:46.
drives hard into the first barrier. A seven stride approach. Works hard | :04:46. | :04:50.
at the second hurdle. It is important that you generate speed | :04:50. | :04:55.
quickly. At this stage you settle down. His shoulders are warriors, | :04:55. | :05:00.
wondering after the barriers. He is a bit too stressed. The hurdles are | :05:00. | :05:04.
coming through too quickly and he is not used to that yet. As he get | :05:04. | :05:06.
into the groove of the championships, he will relax into | :05:06. | :05:12.
it, and we will see him get close to 13 seconds again. The wind, plus | :05:12. | :05:22.
:05:22. | :05:23. | ||
Colin Jackson is talking about you getting back into a groove, had a | :05:23. | :05:29.
bit feel? It felt like a good grace. It is the first round so I am | :05:30. | :05:33.
trying to save something for the final. It is a quick turnaround so | :05:33. | :05:41.
only to go and get some lunch. One final word, what is it like to be | :05:41. | :05:45.
back here? The crowd is amazing, London has always been great for me. | :05:45. | :05:50.
I loved the London crowd. I cannot be more excited to be back here and | :05:51. | :06:00.
:06:01. | :06:08. | ||
Gianni Frankis and Jeff Porter will go through to the final as quickest | :06:08. | :06:18.
:06:18. | :06:21. | ||
continues to dominate this competition, despite the fact that | :06:21. | :06:30.
Christina Schwanitz has hit 90 metres. Valerie Adams is getting | :06:30. | :06:38.
better and better, she did not like her technique. Her coach is sitting | :06:38. | :06:41.
in the stand behind her. People have a very good view of the | :06:41. | :06:48.
technique of this great athlete. It is very long, 20 metres and 82, she | :06:48. | :06:55.
extends her lead again. It is a new meeting of record. Drives across, | :06:55. | :07:03.
hit it hard. There for kilogram shot sailing out to almost 70 ft. | :07:03. | :07:09.
It is beyond the length of a cricket pitch. She is the dominant | :07:09. | :07:17.
force at the moment. At the moment, Michelle Carter is third. Aleksandr | :07:17. | :07:23.
Menkov has a real problem. He had two fouls in succession. Because | :07:23. | :07:26.
there are nine Athlete in the competition, only eight will go for | :07:26. | :07:35.
it. -- go forward. So he needed to get one of the board. Tomlinson and | :07:35. | :07:45.
:07:45. | :07:45. | ||
Great Britain leads. No one has gone over 80 metres. -- eight | :07:46. | :07:51.
litres. I suspect that Aleksandr Menkov will still be at the top | :07:52. | :07:59.
eight. He needs about seven metres 56 to go forward. He is only just! | :07:59. | :08:05.
Beware cover Alexander big cough is still a great long jumper, he could | :08:05. | :08:15.
:08:15. | :08:16. | ||
Let's have another look at Aries Merritt. He said in Berlin, wait | :08:16. | :08:21.
till London, I will dip under 13 seconds. It is not quite where he | :08:21. | :08:27.
wants to be. He is spending a lot of time pressing forward. He is | :08:27. | :08:31.
around three metres of tracks lower than he is used to Rabin. You need | :08:31. | :08:40.
to get back in to the groove, but 10 barriers. You from doing that. | :08:40. | :08:43.
He needs to get a fluid technique over the barrier and believe in | :08:43. | :08:50.
himself. The comfortable and cautious in one way cover but also | :08:50. | :08:55.
believe in himself. When you can run 12.80 cover you have got a lot | :08:55. | :09:02.
of ability but he has got to believe that. It is about being in | :09:02. | :09:06.
the zone where everything is easy, very few sports people experience | :09:06. | :09:13.
that. He had that last summer. is still in it. It is very hard, | :09:13. | :09:16.
because you almost do not realise when you're in it, how well | :09:16. | :09:24.
everything is going. When you look back, it you think, I really felt I | :09:24. | :09:27.
was unbeatable. Whatever way I chose to run the race. Everything | :09:27. | :09:33.
came together. It only, it can rarely lost for a short period of | :09:33. | :09:38.
time. The key is to keep your cool, appreciate it and not think too | :09:38. | :09:44.
much about it. I imagine it might be easy to get back to its cover | :09:44. | :09:48.
that is why Jessica Ennis-Hill can if you missed it, her first hurdles | :09:48. | :09:54.
since the Olympics, her first competitive hurdles. I can imagine | :09:54. | :09:58.
how frustrated she is. It is one of her favourite events. She will be a | :09:58. | :10:05.
little bit disappointed, her coach said. It is the time. Three get the | :10:05. | :10:07.
performance in sense of where she finished, it is the time which will | :10:07. | :10:14.
be crucial for have. If she is not running around about culprit eight, | :10:14. | :10:22.
it makes her susceptible in other events. -- 12.8. Her rivals will | :10:22. | :10:29.
enjoy seeing that that she is not running particularly fast. She will | :10:29. | :10:34.
-- they will believe that she could be beaten. If she comes through | :10:34. | :10:41.
today welcome and feels good, will she still push on to Moscow feeling | :10:41. | :10:47.
she is lacking in performance? think a lot will depend on how she | :10:47. | :10:52.
recovers physically in the next couple of days. Whether an injury | :10:52. | :10:58.
has flared up. Another race could help a lot. We are looking forward | :10:58. | :11:03.
to the women's 100 metres, featuring Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, | :11:03. | :11:13.
:11:13. | :11:25. | ||
who did it once more last year in but Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will | :11:25. | :11:35.
:11:35. | :11:37. | ||
retain the title. Carmelita Jeter will get silver. After a modest | :11:37. | :11:47.
:11:47. | :11:53. | ||
start, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Olympic champion, and alongside her | :11:53. | :12:00.
will be the woman who she beat into the silver medal, Coverley to get a. | :12:00. | :12:08.
English gardener, a talented sprinter. -- Carmelita Jeter. Let's | :12:08. | :12:14.
have a look at the start list. The quality in this field, and then on | :12:14. | :12:21.
lane two, the 17 year-old Desiree Henry, what a chance of her life to | :12:21. | :12:29.
live up gives these greats of women's sprinting. I think the last | :12:29. | :12:33.
time she was in this stadium, she was helping to light the Olympic | :12:33. | :12:37.
flame, as one of the young athletes chosen, she was chosen by Daley | :12:37. | :12:47.
:12:47. | :12:52. | ||
Thompson. She now sees her applause old today. Third in the Jamaica | :12:52. | :13:00.
championships. And Kerron Stewart, the Jamaican champion, silver | :13:00. | :13:04.
medallist in Beijing and the World Championships in Berlin a year | :13:04. | :13:12.
later. And then Carmelita Jeter. Silver medallists last year in the | :13:12. | :13:16.
100 metres, that she anchored the US team to that astonishing world | :13:16. | :13:20.
Mackle. She is not been good for this year. She has been hampered by | :13:20. | :13:30.
:13:30. | :13:39. | ||
the gold medal. Look out for English Gardner, the US champion, | :13:39. | :13:43.
running at 10.85 in the final. This is the first time she has been in | :13:43. | :13:51.
the UK. She will be a threat in Moscow as well. And Jeneba Tarmoh | :13:51. | :13:57.

On the outside, the former you -- European indoor champion, and less | :14:04. | :14:14.

:14:25. | :14:39. | ||
American female sprinters, English Gardner. But how is the form of | :14:39. | :14:47.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce? She has been winning races in 100 metres | :14:47. | :14:50.
and 200 metres this season. This could be an open race come the | :14:50. | :15:00.
:15:00. | :15:14. | ||
Pryce, and she takes at Carmelita Jeter. Coming through for a third | :15:14. | :15:18.
is Kerron Stewart. Pretty much as expected. Those three go through | :15:18. | :15:24.
automatically to the final. 10.78, and it is it legal. It is quick | :15:24. | :15:28.
from Shirli-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The fastest in the world this year. She | :15:28. | :15:34.
is in very good form of. She could perhaps go even lower in the final. | :15:34. | :15:38.
She is safely through. Carmelita Jeter is coming back to some form. | :15:38. | :15:46.
But she could not quite stay with Jamaican Olympic champion. It was | :15:46. | :15:48.
great to see Shelly-Ann Fraser- Pryce returning to have favoured | :15:48. | :15:54.
event, the 100 metres. You can see why. Explosive at the box, drives | :15:54. | :16:02.
hard, of how full for the first 30 or 40 metres. She does not have a | :16:02. | :16:07.
high it me a lift, she relies on leg speed. She cannot manage that a | :16:07. | :16:12.
whole that to the line. Look what whole that to the line. Look what | :16:12. | :16:22.
:16:22. | :16:26. | ||
tall woman at all. Carmelita Jeter talked about the injuries she has | :16:26. | :16:33.
had this summer. She missed the US championship so that she could still | :16:33. | :16:40.
be named for the US squad for Moscow. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is | :16:40. | :16:43.
very impressive. English Gardener was a little bit sluggish. I | :16:43. | :16:53.
:16:53. | :17:02. | ||
was a fantastic performance. 10.77 at this stage could not be more | :17:02. | :17:12.
:17:12. | :17:13. | ||
perfect. It is not perfect yet! I am enjoying this evening, racing | :17:13. | :17:19.
competitively. My competitors always give 100%. I am looking forward to | :17:19. | :17:27.
the rest of the season. How much is being back here to spur you on? | :17:27. | :17:33.
I came in here, I reminisced about the London Olympics. It was | :17:33. | :17:38.
wonderful for me, and I think being here is a tremendous opportunity to | :17:38. | :17:41.
race again and do well. Congratulations and see you in the | :17:41. | :17:49.
final. Thank you very much. We will certainly see her in the final, as | :17:49. | :17:54.
will Carmelita Jeter, who has run a season's best. English Gardener may | :17:54. | :18:03.
have to wait to see if she is one of the fastest losers to go through. | :18:03. | :18:13.
:18:13. | :18:24. | ||
Desiree Henry has shaved a fraction metres so far this afternoon for | :18:24. | :18:29.
Valerie Adams. She blasts another one, way beyond the 20-metre mark! | :18:29. | :18:36.
She has a lifetime best of over 21 metres a couple of seasons ago, and | :18:36. | :18:40.
she looks as though she is returning to that kind of form. A superb | :18:40. | :18:46.
display. The only other person who is near her is the German compact | :18:46. | :18:56.
:18:56. | :18:56. | ||
at. She proves this her longest throw in the world in 2013 at 20.19. | :18:57. | :19:06.
:19:07. | :19:14. | ||
and a tremendous height. That looks as though it will go into the lead | :19:14. | :19:18.
in this fourth round. Chris Tomlinson and the rest have | :19:18. | :19:25.
literally got to raise their game. The Australian won the Commonwealth | :19:25. | :19:30.
Games three years ago. That was the same year that he won't be world | :19:30. | :19:38.
indoor championship. My goodness! That was absolutely on the board. | :19:38. | :19:45.
8.17, a tremendous lead. The shot put is finished, and what a display | :19:45. | :19:50.
by one of the best athletes in the Stadium this afternoon. Valerie | :19:50. | :19:54.
Adams dominated the competition, with the longest throw in the world | :19:54. | :19:59.
this season, 20.90. She spoke to us afterwards. What a performance | :19:59. | :20:07.
today. You grew in increments it I picked. You have a stadium record. | :20:07. | :20:13.
Yes, I am happy with today. It is a world leader for me, so everything | :20:13. | :20:19.
is looking good going forward to Moscow. What is it like being back | :20:19. | :20:25.
here? You got the gold eventually in September. Is there a sense of | :20:26. | :20:30.
redemption coming back here and winning here today? Absolutely. It | :20:30. | :20:35.
almost feels like the same crowd as last year. It is like a deja vu, but | :20:35. | :20:45.
this time we have the real winners. I was happy to be here and give a | :20:45. | :20:50.
good performance. I cannot ask for more than that. And what about this, | :20:50. | :20:54.
another Super Saturday for us in London? I am falling in love with | :20:54. | :20:58.
London! The crowd is awesome and it is great to be a part of a | :20:58. | :21:02.
competition like this. I am happy to put on a good show for everyone. It | :21:02. | :21:10.
is great to see you. See you in Moscow. Thank you very much. | :21:10. | :21:13.
looks as though Valerie Adams will be heading for yet another major | :21:13. | :21:20.
championship gold medal. She is dominant here. Christina Schwanitz | :21:20. | :21:25.
is in second place, Michelle Carter in third. And our best junior four | :21:25. | :21:30.
years is in ninth place, Sophie McKinna. Here is the Diamond League | :21:30. | :21:40.

race, close between Christina athlete. Because of the drugs issue, | :21:46. | :21:50.
she was denied the moment of getting gold at the limpet Games here. It | :21:50. | :21:54.
would have been good if she had been presented with it in front of 16,000 | :21:54. | :21:58.
people. She will have her daily Moscow. We will be there for the | :21:58. | :22:08.

Championships, and there is a champion with some options there, | :22:46. | :22:55.
:22:56. | :22:56. | ||
Okagbare A. Cheers taking on one of the best quality fields we have seen | :22:56. | :23:05.
here. Asha Philip for Great Britain, the British champion this year. | :23:05. | :23:10.
Dafne Schippers is in lane three. Kelly-Ann Baptiste was the fastest | :23:10. | :23:20.
:23:20. | :23:23. | ||
in the world until a few year -- running a personal best and booking | :23:23. | :23:31.
her seat on the plane to Moscow. It will be interesting to watch how the | :23:31. | :23:35.
relay team develops. They ran so well yesterday. Another one to watch | :23:35. | :23:39.
out for will be Jodie Williams, he was beaten by Dafne Schippers in the | :23:39. | :23:44.
championships in the 100 metres. The Dutch heptathlete is on brilliant | :23:44. | :23:52.
form. Kelly-Ann Baptiste, 10.83. The fastest time in the world until | :23:52. | :24:02.
:24:02. | :24:03. | ||
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran 10.78. Murielle Ahoure up was third in | :24:03. | :24:13.

Paris. She gave a good performance in the 60 metres. Also under ten | :24:17. | :24:21.

:25:56. | :26:00. | ||
up there, coming through. Okagbare wins it. 10.87, and we have? | :26:00. | :26:04.
High-quality semifinals. What will the final produced? It was not a | :26:04. | :26:10.
good start for Okagbare. But she still runs 10.87. That is another | :26:10. | :26:16.
personal best. She is on the form of her life! A national record and an | :26:16. | :26:23.
area record as well. She can get out of the blocks as well as some of the | :26:23. | :26:30.
others. Really, really superb sprinting. I think we have got four | :26:30. | :26:39.
winning under 11 seconds here. -- for women. This is a mouthwatering | :26:39. | :26:46.
final coming up. Look how far Okagbare comes back from. She will | :26:46. | :26:51.
get herself in position early on in the field. She is dangerous to the | :26:51. | :26:55.
likes of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. But she is not a consistent starter, | :26:55. | :26:59.
whilst Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is. Once she gets going, good strong | :26:59. | :27:05.

:27:15. | :27:16. | ||
brand-new African record, 10.86. Another fantastic performance. What | :27:16. | :27:21.
about that from your perspective? is going to be a great final. I want | :27:21. | :27:25.
to go out and do my best. That is what I want to do any time, any day. | :27:25. | :27:28.
How would you assess your form now heading towards the World | :27:28. | :27:34.
Championships? My form is going well. I will see what happens in | :27:34. | :27:39.
Moscow. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran 10.77. Can you challenge that in the | :27:39. | :27:45.
final? That was an amazing rate in she had done it before. I am not | :27:45. | :27:49.
surprised that she has done it here. She is a good athlete, very | :27:49. | :27:54.
talented, and I just want to go out and do my best for myself. | :27:54. | :28:00.
fantastic start EU today. We wish you well. Thank you very much. | :28:00. | :28:10.
:28:10. | :28:11. | ||
A superb 100 metres. Barbara Pierre did not have a great start. Okagbare | :28:11. | :28:21.
:28:21. | :28:22. | ||
at -- had such a bad start. Surely there is more to come. She really | :28:22. | :28:28.
could explode out of the blocks in the final. But that is what | :28:28. | :28:31.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is good at and maintains. What a mouthwatering | :28:31. | :28:40.
final we have at 4:20pm. Murielle Ahoure just got ahead of Kelly-Ann | :28:40. | :28:46.
Baptiste. Kelly-Ann Baptiste will go through as the fastest loser and | :28:46. | :28:56.
:28:56. | :29:18. | ||
champion of last season. He is having problems negotiating the | :29:18. | :29:23.
eight-metre line. The conditions are virtually perfect for long jumping. | :29:23. | :29:30.
That is better! Once again, Chris Tomlinson, for his position in | :29:30. | :29:38.
accommodation is under pressure. Chris Tomlinson's first-round jump | :29:38. | :29:42.
was just under eight metres, and has been followed by three consecutive | :29:42. | :29:45.
fouls. Something not consistent today. That was spot on, just a | :29:45. | :29:51.
couple of centimetres away from the maximum jump. But eight metres | :29:51. | :29:59.
exactly for Da Silva. He moves into second place. Luis Alberto Rivera | :29:59. | :30:05.
Morales, he jumped 8.46 earlier this year, the only man in the world this | :30:05. | :30:07.
year to have beaten Aleksandr Menkov. The Russian is struggling | :30:07. | :30:12.
here. That looks better! That looks round about the same sort of | :30:12. | :30:19.
distance that we saw from Da Silva. Chris Tomlinson, again, it looks as | :30:19. | :30:29.
:30:29. | :30:32. | ||
though he could be pushed down into fourth place. Luckier still leads. | :30:32. | :30:37.
Da Silva came through with eight metres. Has Morales got it? Exactly | :30:37. | :30:47.

live with this pace. Sanchez final for the men's 400 metre | :37:49. | :37:59.
:37:59. | :38:14. | ||
Sebastian Rodger and Rhys Williams, a tough draw in the inside two | :38:14. | :38:19.
lanes. Fairly even after the first couple of hurdles. The Americans | :38:19. | :38:23.
will look to finish strongly. At the moment, Sanchez has been left a | :38:23. | :38:29.
little bit. Michael Tinsley rising fast, has he gone out too quickly? | :38:29. | :38:34.
Sanchez is trying to stay with them. Leford Green is going strongly. | :38:34. | :38:39.
Rhys Williams is creeping up on Justin Gaymon on the inside. It is | :38:39. | :38:42.
a Michael Tinsley as the car round the corner, who leads Bershawn | :38:42. | :38:48.
Jackson. Michael Tinsley is using his amazing strength to was the | :38:48. | :38:53.
final hurdle. Bershawn Jackson tried to get there as well. It is | :38:53. | :38:57.
going to be jolly Dutch sticky through for second place. A very | :38:57. | :39:03.
impressive victory for Michael Tinsley. He let them out well and | :39:03. | :39:10.
was strong to the last cover sticky inside 48 seconds. -- sneaking | :39:10. | :39:17.
inside 48 seconds. Felix Sanchez, his season has been a struggle. He | :39:17. | :39:21.
will hope to run himself into some form for the World Championships, | :39:21. | :39:29.
but he is leaving it very late. Not so for Michael Tinsley. This was an | :39:29. | :39:34.
impressive performance from Michael Tinsley. Sometimes we wonder what | :39:34. | :39:40.
he will do, or will he be aggressive or fast? Or just take | :39:40. | :39:45.
his time? But today, he has really proved that he can be a massive | :39:45. | :39:53.
threat to everybody. Javier Coulson inside him, they are both in yellow. | :39:53. | :40:01.
He is quite a ginger over the first 100 metres. In Monaco last year, | :40:01. | :40:07.
last weekend, he went out too quickly. We are all worried. But | :40:07. | :40:10.
Michael Tinsley worked hard of every single barrier. He is not the | :40:10. | :40:16.
most graceful of hurdlers but he is good from the hurdles. He hits the | :40:16. | :40:21.
floor and drives off the line. Watch him puts his hands up, he | :40:21. | :40:28.
knows that he has hammered this field. This is the hurdle where | :40:28. | :40:32.
every single one of the athletes are about to change down. They | :40:32. | :40:38.
think it, shall I take it on my good or bad leg? Michael Tinsley | :40:38. | :40:42.
just runs aggressively. He is literally like a high hurdler. | :40:42. | :40:48.
Pushes hard, drives in. He sees the hurdle early, pressures on with his | :40:48. | :40:52.
legs, over them, beautifully running of the barrier. Watch him | :40:52. | :41:00.
glance up to the screen. He is very impressed and happy with that. He's | :41:00. | :41:09.
We are on our haunches because this is hard work. So close to a | :41:09. | :41:14.
personal best, this performance. was a good race, the crowd really | :41:14. | :41:17.
motivated me to get out hard and do a good race. How much do you want | :41:17. | :41:20.
to put a marker down when you're in a world chance -- world-class field | :41:20. | :41:27.
like that? I wanted a good race. To go into the world championships. | :41:27. | :41:32.
What happens between now and then? Try to stay healthy and focus. | :41:32. | :41:35.
for the crowd here today, and this atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium, | :41:35. | :41:40.
how much did that inspire you? love it, it gives me the strength | :41:40. | :41:46.
to come out and keep hurdling. done. Thank you.The contrast | :41:46. | :41:51.
between the man who took silver meat -- Michael Tinsley, and Felix | :41:51. | :41:55.
Sanchez, who was in last place. So he goes into the world | :41:55. | :41:59.
championships in fine fettle, Michael Tinsley. He is a man to | :41:59. | :42:09.
:42:09. | :42:14. | ||
beat this season. Poor old Felix Rhys Williams just below 49 seconds, | :42:14. | :42:22.
Rhys Williams just below 49 seconds, Aleksandr Menkov Int 8th place, | :42:22. | :42:30.
last attempt and that is big. Never say never. He is shaking his head | :42:30. | :42:34.
and saying, Well, why didn't I do that before? That was beautiful | :42:34. | :42:43.
jumping. He has only been beaten once this year. That was by a | :42:43. | :42:51.
morale as, the Mexican. On the mat, he has been totally dominant. So | :42:51. | :42:57.
that means that Kristen as it has gone down one more place. 831, the | :42:57. | :43:01.
same distance that Greg Rutherford won the Olympic title in. So Chris | :43:01. | :43:07.
Tomlinson, what is he thinking? It is this on nothing for victory and | :43:07. | :43:12.
a possibility of a trip to Moscow for the World Championships. Not | :43:12. | :43:17.
bad. It could be eight metres or thereabouts. He needs over 80 | :43:17. | :43:26.
metres 17 to go into second place. -- eight metres 17. Fabrice | :43:26. | :43:32.
Lapierre looks like he could have retired injured. He did not take | :43:32. | :43:41.
his 6th job. De Silva and Rollo's up eight metres each. Seven metres | :43:41. | :43:47.
99, exactly the same as his first round joint, he finishes in 5th. A | :43:47. | :43:53.
one-off effort for Aleksandr Menkov but it was enough. He dominated the | :43:53. | :44:03.
:44:03. | :44:08. | ||
competition with that one jump. JJ This is a high-quality Diamond | :44:08. | :44:12.
League meeting, but it is also an excuse, it is the Sainsbury's | :44:13. | :44:22.
:44:23. | :44:23. | ||
Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds | :44:23. | :46:20.
Anniversary Games, to remember the proud, when you look at that and see | :46:20. | :46:23.
all those faces, it is one year, can you believe you were part of that | :46:23. | :46:30.
magic for two weeks? It is unbelievable, and we are so lucky to | :46:30. | :46:35.
be back here and be involved in this. I cannot believe one year has | :46:35. | :46:44.
already gone by. What has it done for your sport? It is difficult to | :46:44. | :46:50.
tell at the moment. It will be more in the future when we see more | :46:50. | :46:55.
school leavers taking it up. There are a lot of kids like there that | :46:55. | :46:59.
want to try horse riding and see what fun it is. I have got one of | :46:59. | :47:05.
them at home! And tae kwon do, has it had a great surge in interest? | :47:05. | :47:14.
don't know, but it has been tremendous for the sport. Sony clubs | :47:14. | :47:18.
have increased their membership. Our national championships will be the | :47:18. | :47:24.
best -- the biggest one yet this year. It is fantastic to see all the | :47:24. | :47:29.
kids joining clubs. What is the best part about being an Olympic | :47:29. | :47:37.
medallist? The best part for me is that it had eluded my career for so | :47:37. | :47:43.
long and it was the only one I still needed. I would have preferred it | :47:43. | :47:50.
was a different colour! Are you going for it again? I had a couple | :47:50. | :47:56.
of injuries since the Games, and I am still recovering, but I hope that | :47:56. | :48:00.
I can be there again in three years. And I can imagine that come in here | :48:00. | :48:05.
today, it reminds you what it was all about. Definitely. It brings | :48:05. | :48:11.
back all the emotions that I had last year at the Games. It is | :48:11. | :48:15.
amazing that one year has gone by so quickly. It is fantastic to deal | :48:15. | :48:20.
with the fans and it really makes me thankful for British Athletics for | :48:20. | :48:29.
sorting out the tickets for us! in Rio? I hope so. We have the | :48:29. | :48:34.
European Championships in a couple of months. It is the case of getting | :48:34. | :48:39.
the right horse at the right time, but Rio would be amazing. It is | :48:39. | :48:42.
thanks to the funding that we can get that we can come to venues like | :48:42. | :48:49.
this and carry on later in life. bit older than the normal athlete. | :48:49. | :48:59.
:48:59. | :49:11. | ||
The athletes at ready to take part Djibouti. Young Matthew Centrowitz | :49:11. | :49:14.
surprised everybody a couple of years ago at the World Championships | :49:14. | :49:18.
by taking the gold medal. He had a struggle this year, until his last | :49:18. | :49:26.
race, to get down into decent times. That is young Jake Wightman. I am | :49:26. | :49:31.
sure he will be a bit nervous. Charlie Grice is one of our top | :49:31. | :49:40.
young talents. James Brewer and Lee Emanuel. This rate is full of great | :49:40. | :49:45.
tradition and history. I have to say I think we are making history here. | :49:45. | :49:51.
I have never seen a one-mile race with two start lines. They do it for | :49:51. | :50:00.
the other long-distance runs. 20 athletes in this. Six or seven of | :50:00. | :50:04.
them have to run on the outside of this bend and then break. I hope | :50:04. | :50:12.
they break in the right place! hope they have been briefed, because | :50:12. | :50:16.
they won't know the rules. I have never seen this before, with the | :50:16. | :50:20.
break. For the 61st run of the Games, 20 winners in this race, | :50:20. | :50:24.
there is too many. The only salvation is at the pacemaker can go | :50:24. | :50:30.
at such a pace and the rest of the field follow him. Look at it, it | :50:30. | :50:34.
looks like a 10,000-metre race, they are spread across the track and had | :50:34. | :50:39.
only just done 300 metres. We have got a good feel of this famous | :50:39. | :50:44.
running event. This was the race in 1977, this was Seb Coe's | :50:44. | :50:51.
breakthrough race. He won the Emsley Carr Mile, the beginning of a career | :50:51. | :51:01.
finally ending up doing the organising for the Olympics. And a | :51:01. | :51:11.
:51:11. | :51:16. | ||
suitably fast first lap, 54 .7 for the pacemaker. Collins and Cheboi | :51:16. | :51:26.
:51:26. | :51:27. | ||
are also quite close. The canyon is further back in the middle of the | :51:27. | :51:37.
:51:37. | :51:37. | ||
pack. He ran very well in America. They are attacking, Miller is going | :51:37. | :51:42.
to pick it up. They wanted 1.53 or thereabouts and I think they will be | :51:42. | :51:48.
boasted that at 800. The field really has followed. When the big | :51:48. | :51:54.
athletes go up, you know the rest of the field have got no choice but to | :51:54. | :52:03.
follow. Here we are. Bram Som is doing extremely well there. A solid | :52:03. | :52:09.
pace is being delivered. We will get some good times here. There is more | :52:09. | :52:15.
than one race here. I am just watching Galen Rupp, the training | :52:15. | :52:18.
partner of Mo Farah, moving strongly down the back straight into a good | :52:18. | :52:25.
position. Some good opportunities for British athletes today. There | :52:25. | :52:29.
are a queue of them, Charlie Grice towards the back, Lee Emanuel right | :52:29. | :52:34.
up to the front in the back of the lead group of eight or nine. This is | :52:34. | :52:40.
the interesting part of the race, because Souleiman and colleagues in | :52:40. | :52:48.
their -- and Collins in that. And various Augustine Kiprono Choge, in | :52:49. | :52:58.
the front. This is the Commonwealth 5,000-metre champion from 2006. | :52:58. | :53:02.
Remember in that race, Mo Farah was ninth. He has come an awful long way | :53:02. | :53:10.
since then. Augustine Kiprono Choge has not comes quite so far. These | :53:10. | :53:14.
athletes are running extremely strongly down the back straight. It | :53:14. | :53:19.
is going to be a competitive race. Souleiman is an athlete with a lot | :53:19. | :53:25.
of potential. They both look a bit tired. Coleman still has half a | :53:25. | :53:35.
:53:35. | :53:40. | ||
chance. August in Jodie -- Augustine Kiprono Choge is being chased down | :53:40. | :53:45.
hard by Souleiman. It is going to be tight and will he get their? Yes, he | :53:45. | :53:53.
does! Souleiman takes second place. The winning time is 3.50. A lot of | :53:53. | :53:57.
them are quite a few seconds behind. A great race in the end, a fitting | :53:57. | :54:01.
race for the Emsley Carr Mile. It is nice to see somebody like Augustine | :54:01. | :54:08.
Kiprono Choge, somebody who understands the traditions of the | :54:08. | :54:11.
distance running, and he has won it on two occasions, and not many | :54:11. | :54:17.
people have done that. A lot of great athletes have won this one in | :54:17. | :54:21.
the past. This was the springboard for Sebastian Coe and he will have | :54:21. | :54:24.
enjoyed watching this before it comes down to the track for a | :54:24. | :54:28.
special presentation in a few minutes. Augustine Kiprono Choge, an | :54:28. | :54:32.
athlete who has never been sure of his best distance. I always felt he | :54:32. | :54:36.
should have stayed around the 5000 metres, but he won the Commonwealth | :54:36. | :54:41.
and beat Mo Farah into ninth place. Here he comes in the 1500 metres, | :54:41. | :54:45.
strong in the finishing straight. Souleiman of Djibouti really | :54:45. | :54:55.
finishes calmly. He left a little bit too much to do, but Augustine | :54:55. | :55:00.
Kiprono Choge wins the Emsley Carr Mile, the 61st winning of the Emsley | :55:00. | :55:10.
:55:10. | :55:15. | ||
Carr Mile. Souleiman will see an awful lot from him in a few weeks. | :55:15. | :55:18.
His prizes to turn straight round and walk at the home straight to | :55:18. | :55:28.
:55:28. | :55:38. | ||
meet Sebastian Coe, who was there to maintained in a race which has stood | :55:38. | :55:48.
:55:48. | :55:50. | ||
the test of time over the years. Sebastian Coe won it in 1977. | :55:50. | :55:53.
Augustine Kiprono Choge, our winner Augustine Kiprono Choge, our winner | :55:53. | :56:03.
:56:03. | :56:22. | ||
came away with Olympic gold last year. He has been dominant this year | :56:22. | :56:25.
apart from one competition, and that it is first entry, his first | :56:25. | :56:32.
Voltaire. 5.70, and flew over. Luke Cutts of Great Britain, he is still | :56:32. | :56:41.
in there. He has had one failure at this height. 5.74 a first attempt, | :56:41. | :56:51.
:56:51. | :56:55. | ||
that is how good this guy is. A metres. The young lady in Burgundy, | :56:55. | :56:59.
Allyson Felix, is the one that everybody is looking at at this | :56:59. | :57:05.
moment in time. Allyson Felix has not been running the greatest | :57:05. | :57:08.
200-metre races recently, but we know what she is capable of. She | :57:08. | :57:12.
became the Olympic champion on this very track last year. There is no | :57:12. | :57:18.
wind at this time, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that we see a | :57:18. | :57:22.
swift 200 metres. We have already seen how fast the 100 metres women | :57:22. | :57:32.
:57:32. | :57:39. | ||
are going, so these women want to good afternoon's athletics, and the | :57:39. | :57:45.
standard of some of the events has been better than some of yesterday. | :57:45. | :57:50.
We have got a great winning's 100-metre final to come. This | :57:50. | :57:59.
200-metre race is packed with talent. An interesting opportunity | :57:59. | :58:09.
:58:09. | :58:11. | ||
for the likes of Anyika Onuora. She is on scintillating form. We have | :58:11. | :58:21.
:58:21. | :58:30. | ||
got Ana Claudia Lemos Silva on the inside, and various Deedee Trotter | :58:30. | :58:34.
on the outside. I am told that she is becoming disillusioned with the | :58:34. | :58:38.
400 metres and has decided that she is going to turn her attention to | :58:38. | :58:42.
the 200 metres. She is 30 years of age and that is an odd point in your | :58:42. | :58:48.
career to do that, but that is what we are told. Anneisha McLaughlin is | :58:48. | :58:57.
a former youth champion. She is on reasonable form. This is a great | :58:57. | :58:59.
young talent, the double world junior sprint champion last year, | :58:59. | :59:09.
:59:09. | :59:10. | ||
just 19 years old, 22.32 already this year. And there is Allyson | :59:10. | :59:17.
Felix, and as Colin was saying, at a great start to the season, she has | :59:17. | :59:22.
really struggled to find her best form. She is not running the 400 | :59:22. | :59:26.
metres in the World Championships. She was in the relay at Monaco last | :59:26. | :59:32.
week. Shalonda Solomon, former US champion at this event. Also former | :59:32. | :59:40.
junior champion. Anyika Onuora is having a brilliant year this year, | :59:40. | :59:47.
including the 400 metres. This is the event which she enjoys the most. | :59:47. | :59:51.
She has been doing well at the 100 metres as well. She has a good lane | :59:51. | :59:56.
at lane four. Lashauntea Moore, another former youth world champion, | :59:56. | :00:06.
:00:06. | :00:14. | ||
now 29 years old. Jodie Williams is still just 19 years of age. Another | :00:14. | :00:24.
:00:24. | :00:24. | ||
great talent. Ana Claudia Lemos Silva, from Brazil, she is in lane | :00:24. | :00:32.
one. Nine athletes in this. The wind has been interesting, and Colin | :00:32. | :00:36.
might have a better idea down there. He said the wind was in their faces | :00:36. | :00:41.
for the 200 metres. It has been swirling around a little bit. Not | :00:41. | :00:49.
just too much wind, just a breeze. The winning's 200 metres here, how | :00:49. | :00:53.
good is Allyson Felix? What sort of form is she on? She has not raced | :00:53. | :00:56.
this event since the American Championships. She finished second | :00:56. | :01:06.
:01:06. | :01:14. | ||
there. Pretty even start, and a good one from Allyson Felix. Shalonda | :01:14. | :01:19.
Solomon is going well. But it is Allyson Felix who will lead them | :01:19. | :01:24.
into the home straight. Anneisha McLaughlin is there. Allyson Felix | :01:24. | :01:27.
is starting to struggle. Shalonda Solomon is coming at her. She will | :01:27. | :01:33.
have to fight to hang onto this. 22.42. To me, that looked like too | :01:33. | :01:38.
much hard work for Allyson Felix. The old Allyson Felix would have | :01:38. | :01:43.
glided through that last 50 metres and pulled away. Just for a moment, | :01:43. | :01:46.
about 30 from the line, you just thought that Shalonda Solomon might | :01:46. | :01:53.
catch, but she took the win. There was a slight headwind in the home | :01:53. | :02:00.
straight. Shalonda Solomon takes second place. Colin, you are a big | :02:00. | :02:04.
fan of Allyson Felix. She still doesn't look to be on top form to | :02:04. | :02:11.
me. I would really worry for Allyson Felix if we didn't know that her | :02:11. | :02:17.
coach is great. It would be interesting to see what Alison | :02:17. | :02:21.
thinks of this race. We will be able to talk to her later. She was wide | :02:21. | :02:28.
around the bend and did not her get as well as we know she can do. | :02:28. | :02:32.
this point, we expected her to ease away from the field, but it was a | :02:32. | :02:38.
struggle for her to take this victory today. It was a relatively | :02:38. | :02:45.
slow time of 22.41. We don't not -- know what kind of work she is doing | :02:45. | :02:49.
at the moment. She may still be relying on her endurance and she has | :02:49. | :02:59.
:02:59. | :03:02. | ||
been working on earlier this year. Perhaps we will see her reach that | :03:02. | :03:10.
magical 22 second barrier. She looks like she is working harder than we | :03:10. | :03:14.
expect of her. But this is an Olympic champion, a world champion, | :03:14. | :03:18.
and I am pretty sure, when the time comes, she will get it right and the | :03:18. | :03:28.
:03:28. | :03:35. | ||
liver. -- and deliver. Let's hear this stadium last year. It was be a | :03:35. | :03:40.
great feeling to come back. It has been so special and I am happy to be | :03:40. | :03:45.
back. Tell me about the race and where you feel you are right now. | :03:45. | :03:48.
Just final preparations. Last year was a long year, and I am taking it | :03:48. | :03:52.
slowly this year. I have some more work to do. What has been the | :03:52. | :03:59.
general game plan? I have been training for this year and taking it | :03:59. | :04:03.
slowly, making sure my body is OK. This is the last race before | :04:03. | :04:11.
Moscow? Yes, the last one.We wish you well in Moscow. Thank you very | :04:11. | :04:14.
much. much. | :04:14. | :04:24.
:04:24. | :04:36. | ||
for her second competition of the afternoon. She is taking part in the | :04:36. | :04:41.
long jump, trying to duplicate the start of the heptathlon where this | :04:41. | :04:44.
time last year she was looking forward to make glorious couple of | :04:44. | :04:54.
:04:54. | :04:57. | ||
days. 6.29 with a slightly battered left ankle last weekend. We will see | :04:57. | :05:05.
her a bit later on in the long jump competition. And we will see Mo | :05:05. | :05:14.
Farah later on as well in the 3000 metres. We are counting down to Mo | :05:14. | :05:18.
Farah coming back out on the track. He was out here earlier and had a | :05:18. | :05:22.
great reception. We have been reliving some of the great moments | :05:22. | :05:27.
of London 2012 this afternoon. Eton Dorney was a rich source for hours. | :05:27. | :05:31.
We had eight medals in total, and four of them were gold. Let's go | :05:31. | :05:41.
:05:41. | :05:49. | ||
room I could pull story -- a remarkable story. This is going to | :05:49. | :05:55.
be about the snow for great written! -- about goats now for | :05:55. | :06:05.
:06:05. | :06:21. | ||
the line. They are making history here! They have been glorious here | :06:21. | :06:30.
this morning. These are Olympic champions. We have done it! We have | :06:30. | :06:38.
done it! We have done it in style! What we are seeing right now is a | :06:38. | :06:46.
dream come true. And Katherine Grainger is alongside | :06:46. | :06:54.
the NAB, the epitome of try, try, and try again. Can you believe it is | :06:54. | :06:59.
one year ago? Know, people kept saying, you must do something for | :06:59. | :07:05.
the anniversary. It is unbelievable. We have been watching BBC One all | :07:05. | :07:10.
day today. You are looking at what to do next, whether you should stay | :07:10. | :07:13.
with the programme and go to Rio. You have been talking to other | :07:13. | :07:17.
Olympians about retirement and whether or not it is the right thing | :07:17. | :07:23.
for you. At you made up your mind? No. I had about two hours ago, but I | :07:23. | :07:27.
am not sure now. When you come back and see all the magic here, you | :07:27. | :07:34.
speak to anybody, everybody is reeling last year. It was the most | :07:34. | :07:41.
incredible summer. This hasn't helped. You get the bus back and the | :07:41. | :07:48.
magic. The amazing thing is, everything is that ever since people | :07:48. | :07:52.
have been funded, careers are lasting longer. You don't have to | :07:52. | :07:56.
stop and cause of money. We are very well looked after physically and | :07:56. | :08:01.
mentally. It is an option to go on, not quite for ever, but until you | :08:01. | :08:06.
start losing. I have been told by experts that my body is still | :08:06. | :08:10.
willing. I think the crunch is the mind, because you need to have the | :08:10. | :08:15.
hunger and the drive. This all looks incredible. Everyone would take | :08:15. | :08:19.
this, if you were offered it. The reality of the day-to-day brutality | :08:19. | :08:26.
of training, testing and trialling, you don't always have thousands of | :08:26. | :08:30.
people supporting you. In the middle of winter you on your own trying to | :08:30. | :08:33.
get it right. If you can buy into that, you can go in. You are smiling | :08:33. | :08:39.
as if it is a thought process you know. Yes, I used to call it the | :08:39. | :08:42.
bubble, when you are in the training environment and you are locked down | :08:42. | :08:48.
in hard training. Sometimes it gets hard. Sometimes it might be nice to | :08:48. | :08:53.
have a normal life. And then injury comes along and you experience | :08:53. | :08:58.
normal life for a bit. Then you just want to go back. A lot of the times, | :08:58. | :09:01.
the mind is willing for a long time and the body is not willing any | :09:01. | :09:06.
more, and that is when it is time. But if the body is willing, I would | :09:06. | :09:14.
say stay with it! The 3000 metres steeplechase is just | :09:14. | :09:17.
heading off there. We will come back to that in a moment. While we still | :09:17. | :09:21.
had you here, we have been talking for the last couple of days about | :09:21. | :09:27.
the longer lasting effects of the incredibly stressful -- successful | :09:27. | :09:30.
summer. Ireland are hearing that within weeks of the Olympics, rowing | :09:30. | :09:34.
clubs were turning people away. They could not cope with demand. Is that | :09:34. | :09:41.
still the case? What has been incredible is that every sport felt | :09:41. | :09:46.
the impact of 2012. Everyone I have spoken to in various sports have | :09:46. | :09:50.
seen a huge effect, people coming in and trying out for the first time. | :09:50. | :09:54.
And what is great is that we have experienced the worst winter | :09:54. | :09:58.
possible for outdoor sports. People have stuck at it and are still at | :09:58. | :10:03.
it. Now we have got to the summer, it is a lovely time to be outside. | :10:03. | :10:09.
As far as rowing is concerned, it is booming. And again, Iraq's act -- I | :10:09. | :10:19.
:10:19. | :10:25. | ||
expect that increases your MPs yet. -- your enthusiast. When it becomes | :10:25. | :10:29.
more mainstream, that must be satisfying. Yes, and we saw with | :10:29. | :10:34.
Steve Redgrave, someone he kept the sport in the public eye and has been | :10:34. | :10:40.
successful when a lot of the -- a lot of other sports won't. We have | :10:40. | :10:44.
always had a certain level of attention because of him. Since | :10:44. | :10:52.
then, the sport has blossomed. Everyone has taken part and been | :10:52. | :10:55.
successful, and it is special to be part of a sport which has been | :10:55. | :11:00.
inspirational to so many people. Thank you for keeping to inspire | :11:00. | :11:04.
others. It is great to talk to you. Whichever way you decide to go and I | :11:04. | :11:10.
am sure you will have success. At you qualified in forensics science? | :11:10. | :11:20.
:11:20. | :11:28. | ||
I have just got my Ph.D. In criminal all. It the leading group there. It | :11:28. | :11:31.
is only Matt Hughes, the Canadian, who is trying to break up the East | :11:31. | :11:41.
:11:41. | :11:48. | ||
Ackford in agony. -- the East African hegemony. This is what we | :11:48. | :11:52.
expected to see, the Kenyans dominating. It is a Kenyan pack | :11:52. | :11:55.
year, none of whom are going to the world Championships because of what | :11:55. | :11:58.
we talked about, the Kenyan federation has brought their | :11:58. | :12:03.
athletes back. Those who are going to the World Championships are not | :12:03. | :12:07.
allowed to race here. It is the best of the rest, but in Kenyan terms, | :12:07. | :12:14.
that is good. This is the event that, for some reason, there are | :12:14. | :12:19.
lots of theories about it, that they have dominated more than any other. | :12:19. | :12:24.
The first 1000 metres has been completed in 2.40. That is the | :12:24. | :12:28.
fastest we have ever seen people attack this race. Really, when you | :12:28. | :12:37.
think it is the best -- the second best Kenyan here we call the best of | :12:37. | :12:42.
the race... There are two Mac races here today. The British athletes, we | :12:42. | :12:48.
will have to keep a close watch on them. James Wilkinson is amongst the | :12:48. | :12:54.
British athletes. He is looking for a good time. They are running an | :12:54. | :13:04.
:13:04. | :13:09. | ||
eight minute pace. He is aiming for first kilometre, 2.36 is the world | :13:09. | :13:12.
record set by Saif Saaeed Shaheen. He is another Kenyan. The pedigree | :13:12. | :13:20.
in here, we talked about the fact that the world champion -- World | :13:20. | :13:30.
:13:30. | :13:31. | ||
Championship entrants are not here from Kenya. Haron Lagat has been | :13:31. | :13:41.
:13:41. | :13:42. | ||
asked to take them through lap. Gilbert Kirui and some others are | :13:42. | :13:46.
separating themselves from the rest. James Wilkinson and Luke Gunn and | :13:46. | :13:56.
:13:56. | :14:03. | ||
Mark Draper, those British athletes record, eight minutes and eight | :14:03. | :14:07.
seconds. Keep an eye on that will stop at the moment they are heading | :14:07. | :14:13.
for a good time. The pacemaker is doing a good job. Because there are | :14:13. | :14:17.
three athletes leading the race, there will be a good pace when the | :14:17. | :14:26.
pacemaker drops out. Brimin Kiprop Kipruto, world champion in 2008, | :14:26. | :14:34.
Olympic champion in 2007, world champion. He was a second in 2011 in | :14:34. | :14:37.
the World Championships. He was only fifth in the Olympic Games here last | :14:37. | :14:43.
year. He was fully expected to be selected for the World | :14:44. | :14:53.
Championships. He has come here on the European circuit. He has taken | :14:53. | :14:56.
the opportunity today to try to show us that he should have been in the | :14:56. | :14:59.
World Championships. He moves on to the outside in the yellow vests, the | :14:59. | :15:04.
tall figure of women Kiprop Kipruto. He is clearly on good form, third | :15:04. | :15:11.
place in the trials. They are coming down with two laps to go in an's | :15:11. | :15:19.
steeplechase the familiar sight for Kenya, one, two, three. You have to | :15:19. | :15:27.
work hard at this event. James Wilkinson is coming up with two laps | :15:27. | :15:37.
:15:37. | :15:56. | ||
to go. 6.21 with two laps to go. He Hit at the British title from Luke | :15:56. | :16:03.
Gunn. These canyons - might these Kenyans if they were at the World | :16:03. | :16:09.
Championships at would be in the running for the medals. They are | :16:09. | :16:18.
running for the medals. They are going to set up very fast time. | :16:18. | :16:27.
This could be a very fast time here today. There is one lap to go. It | :16:27. | :16:33.
is just short of 400 metres so we could be looking at a UK all-comers | :16:33. | :16:39.
record. Gilbert Kirui hits the front now. He is running strongly. | :16:39. | :16:43.
He moves to the outside. The one thing we are going to get for | :16:43. | :16:47.
certain here today to real race down the back straight. The barrier | :16:47. | :16:52.
in the back straight often split the men from the boys. Watch them | :16:52. | :16:59.
as they approach the water jump will still --. Gilbert Kirui is | :16:59. | :17:03.
still leading. There they go straight over the water and under | :17:03. | :17:12.
the track -- on to the stack. Gilbert Kirui is the youngest of | :17:12. | :17:18.
the Kenyans. He is 19 and holding off the more experienced man. | :17:18. | :17:22.
Brimin Kiprop Kipruto is going to get there. He takes it on the line. | :17:23. | :17:27.
He takes the victory, some redemption for being hard done by | :17:27. | :17:31.
in the final of the Olympics last year. Little can make up for that | :17:31. | :17:37.
but that time is a UK all-comers record. Brimin Kiprop Kipruto has | :17:37. | :17:42.
the victory. What a race! It was a great race and a competitive race. | :17:42. | :17:47.
This is a man who was good enough to be selected for the Kenyan team | :17:47. | :17:50.
for the World Championships but for some reason he finished third in | :17:50. | :17:54.
the trials and he is on the former world champion and a former Olympic | :17:54. | :17:58.
champion and is said he could not go so he said he would come to | :17:58. | :18:04.
Europe. Here is James Wilkinson finishing slowly there. That is | :18:04. | :18:10.
disappointment over the last couple of laps. We saw a very good race | :18:10. | :18:12.
that. Disappointment for James Wilkinson and back to the drawing | :18:12. | :18:17.
board with a couple of weeks to go. In Brimin Kiprop Kipruto we saw an | :18:17. | :18:22.
athlete who came here to prove a point and he certainly did prove it. | :18:22. | :18:26.
It was an all-comers record. We have seen some great steeplechases | :18:26. | :18:31.
in Britain that he did out he showed us. Gilbert Kirui came into | :18:31. | :18:35.
the water with other former Olympic champion behind him. Do not touch | :18:35. | :18:40.
the barrier, on to the straight and he kicked into the straight and he | :18:40. | :18:45.
was running powerfully but Brimin Kiprop Kipruto was biding his time. | :18:45. | :18:50.
The last hurdle approaching and now we get a real race. Here a comes | :18:50. | :18:54.
and he is strong enough and he is good enough of. The Kenyan | :18:54. | :18:58.
selectors will hear the message, I should have been in Moscow | :18:58. | :19:04.
representing Kenya. I think that is probably right. It was a very good | :19:04. | :19:08.
performance from Gilbert Kirui but Brimin Kiprop Kipruto showed the | :19:08. | :19:11.
experience, former world champion and a former Olympic champion and a | :19:11. | :19:15.
man who has distinguished themselves over many years. He came | :19:15. | :19:19.
here to a record crowd for a track meeting Great Britain and he came | :19:19. | :19:23.
into the finishing straight with so much power and experience and he | :19:23. | :19:29.
just did enough. A UK all-comers record of. Well done. | :19:29. | :19:35.
embarrassment of riches in this event for the Kenyans. This man was | :19:35. | :19:38.
just one hundredth of a second outside the world record a year ago | :19:38. | :19:46.
and now he has got the all-comers UK record. He could have been in | :19:46. | :19:52.
the world championships if it were not all of the other Kenyans. They | :19:52. | :19:55.
roar all in this event. Disappointing for James Wilkinson | :19:55. | :19:58.
who is going to the World Championships by he will struggle | :19:58. | :20:07.
to make a final. The long jumpers are just being | :20:07. | :20:13.
introduced to the crowd. Listen to the roar for our golden girl from | :20:13. | :20:17.
Super Saturday last year. A chance for the crowd to see the Olympic | :20:17. | :20:22.
heptathlon champion in action. It looks solid enough. It looks about | :20:22. | :20:27.
the same figure she jumped at the Loughborough last week. 6.29 or | :20:27. | :20:33.
thereabouts. She has a lifetime best of 6.51. She jumped that | :20:33. | :20:41.
during the heptathlon magical today heptathlon last year. She also did | :20:41. | :20:46.
in 2010 and 2011 as well. The most important thing for her is to come | :20:46. | :20:56.
away from this stadium in one piece. Her coach is animated as always. | :20:56. | :21:00.
Jessica Ennis-Hill, 6th 0.13 in the first round. She will be looking | :21:00. | :21:05.
for more than that to establish itself as one of the favourites for | :21:05. | :21:13.
the World Championship heptathlon title. -- 6.13. Luke Cutts has a | :21:13. | :21:23.
chance to move up. He get said. That is brilliant. I just wonder if | :21:23. | :21:27.
the British selectors might consider adding his name to the | :21:27. | :21:33.
left of the British team which will be going to Moscow. That equals the | :21:33. | :21:42.
a standard. He beat Steve Lewis the number one for Britain in the | :21:42. | :21:45.
trials. Christina Obergfoll is the class | :21:45. | :21:50.
act in the women's javelin in the first round. She has the leading | :21:50. | :22:00.
:22:00. | :22:01. | ||
throw so far. The leading throat so far is by Kimberley Mickle of | :22:01. | :22:07.
Australia. She jams on the brakes just in time. It was flying. That | :22:07. | :22:12.
is the first throw we have seen beyond the 65-metre line. She is | :22:12. | :22:22.
:22:22. | :22:37. | ||
very six -- she is very consistent She of second in the world rankings | :22:37. | :22:47.
:22:47. | :22:51. | ||
to wry about come over. -- Mariya This is Christine Ohuruogu. The | :22:51. | :22:55.
last time we saw her in the diamond lead she had a great victory. The | :22:55. | :23:00.
length -- the young lady in fighter in lane three, Natasha Hastings, is | :23:00. | :23:05.
the United States champion and will the United States champion and will | :23:05. | :23:09.
be going to Moscow as the favourite in that event. This is a tough race | :23:10. | :23:16.
for Christine so let us see how she handles it. | :23:16. | :23:26.
:23:26. | :23:36. | ||
Thank you very much, Colin. This is Eilidh Child running a flat 400 as | :23:36. | :23:46.
:23:46. | :23:49. | ||
well here. That is Margaret a-day Lea who has been added to the squad. | :23:49. | :23:53.
She is having an experiment to a deal with the 400 which has gone | :23:53. | :24:00.
very well. Jessica Beard was 5th in the American championships. She ran | :24:00. | :24:04.
in the last world championships but it will not be the case this time. | :24:04. | :24:10.
We think she will be part of the relay squad. Natasha Hastings is | :24:10. | :24:13.
the American champion but has only run under 50 seconds once this year. | :24:13. | :24:17.
You could argue that is good enough. Christine only runs under 50 | :24:17. | :24:22.
seconds when she is trying to win medals. What does she have in store | :24:22. | :24:32.
:24:32. | :24:33. | ||
for the home crowd here today? So close to defending her title here | :24:33. | :24:40.
in a London. A very close race with Sanya Richards-Ross. Francena | :24:40. | :24:43.
McCorory is having a very good year and coming into form at the right | :24:43. | :24:51.
time. She was third in Monaco. Amantle Montsho is the one who is | :24:51. | :24:54.
top of the world this year and the one they all have to meet but she | :24:54. | :25:01.
is not here. Rosemarie Whyte also raised in Monaco. Christine Day is | :25:01. | :25:07.
part of the Jamaica much team. She was the leader of when they won the | :25:07. | :25:12.
bronze medal in the relay. Chana Cox has struggled to find her best | :25:12. | :25:22.
:25:22. | :25:29. | ||
form this year. She will be a member of the fall by four squad. | :25:29. | :25:39.
Eilidh Child has gone cricket in doors. So far outdoors her best is | :25:39. | :25:45.
without the hurdles and she has every chance of going quickly today. | :25:45. | :25:49.
Will Christine Ohuruogu bring her a game? She has been running | :25:49. | :25:53.
consistently well all year and she has started the season well and she | :25:53. | :25:58.
has probably had as many races as I have ever seen her run in any one | :25:58. | :26:02.
season. Is she rounding into the right sort of form for the World | :26:02. | :26:12.
:26:12. | :26:23. | ||
Championships? This will be a big rise. Natasha Hastings going very | :26:23. | :26:28.
fast. She has taken several yards out of Christine Ohuruogu. Eilidh | :26:28. | :26:33.
Child also has started quickly as you would want her to. Not too much | :26:33. | :26:38.
to choose between them through this first 200 metres. It could be that | :26:38. | :26:43.
Natasha Hastings have the advantage. Rosemarie Whyte is going well. | :26:43. | :26:46.
Christine Ohorogu was very much in it and the crowd know it and they | :26:46. | :26:50.
are giving their a lot of encouragement. She is very strong | :26:50. | :26:55.
in the home straight. What is this going to say? She has got a metre. | :26:55. | :26:59.
Natasha Hastings tried to get on terms. Christine Ohorogu was | :26:59. | :27:03.
straighten it out. This is her part of the race at her home patch. She | :27:03. | :27:10.
takes the winner. 50.02. It is not the championship so she will not | :27:10. | :27:16.
run under 50 seconds but it was very close. A great win for | :27:16. | :27:19.
Christine Ohuruogu. Great encouragement and great timing. | :27:19. | :27:24.
That was as good as we have seen all year from her. It has been | :27:24. | :27:30.
rounded down to 50 seconds flat. It is of course her fees and best. It | :27:30. | :27:34.
is almost at her very best. A well- judged race and a really good | :27:34. | :27:44.
finish. Here is Jessica Ennis-Hill. It is her second round. 6.30 in the | :27:44. | :27:50.
first round. A little wry smile on the face of the golden goal from 12 | :27:50. | :27:58.
months ago. Interesting Lee Katarina Johnson-Thompson, hair | :27:58. | :28:01.
interesting at -- her British team- mate in this competition who | :28:01. | :28:07.
recently won the European junior heptathlon championship started off | :28:07. | :28:17.
:28:17. | :28:18. | ||
with at 6.13. I beg your pardon, the European Under 23 championships. | :28:18. | :28:28.
:28:28. | :28:28. | ||
That is a slight improvement. that was a really well-judged race | :28:28. | :28:32.
for Christine Ohuruogu. She really wanted to do that. Are meant so | :28:32. | :28:36.
much to have. You talk about legacy. She really enjoyed the Olympic | :28:36. | :28:40.
Games so much and she is worth a lot in this area to make sure that | :28:41. | :28:46.
the legacy is being driven through. She can make sure that she is an | :28:46. | :28:51.
inspiration again. It is her best race of the year undoubtedly. It | :28:51. | :28:55.
augurs so well for the championships coming up and she has | :28:55. | :28:59.
beaten some good athletes here who would be contenders as well. She | :28:59. | :29:09.
held them off well in the home straight, as we expected her to. | :29:09. | :29:13.
Christine is here alongside me and just getting her breast back. Thank | :29:13. | :29:17.
you very much for talking to have so quickly after the race. I see | :29:17. | :29:21.
your time on the board is 50 flat. Look at the names you have beaten | :29:21. | :29:24.
who will be world championship contenders, that must give you a | :29:24. | :29:29.
great sense of satisfaction. does. I never want to lose on home | :29:29. | :29:32.
ground. It is about putting a race together and coming out and giving | :29:32. | :29:37.
a good performance for the home crowd. Obviously you are our very | :29:37. | :29:40.
local girl, from just down the road and the reception was spine- | :29:40. | :29:44.
tingling. He really was, I thought I cannot lose now after that. | :29:44. | :29:48.
you didn't! You like to execute your race and examine what you did | :29:49. | :29:52.
them but that was pretty much to perfection, wasn't he? Yes, a win | :29:52. | :29:58.
is a win but this is not where returns for us so I will go back | :29:58. | :30:02.
and just tinker with it a little bet. That is great, you gave the | :30:03. | :30:09.
crowd a wonderful performance and all of us at home watching as well. | :30:09. | :30:19.
:30:19. | :30:23. | ||
Thank you. Well, a season's best for Christine and also for Chana | :30:23. | :30:26.
Cox. A personal best for Eilidh Child, not as quick as you run | :30:26. | :30:31.
indoors but a good run from there. And really good winner from | :30:31. | :30:33.
And really good winner from Christine Ohorogu. | :30:33. | :30:38.
She is incredible. She times have seasons to perfection. Issue | :30:38. | :30:41.
another of those... I don't know, Mo was getting a lot of adulation | :30:41. | :30:46.
later but do we appreciate Christina Corrigan a enough because | :30:46. | :30:50.
she does not do it for the glamour but she waits for the big | :30:50. | :30:54.
championships. -- Christine Ohuruogu. Yes, she definitely rises | :30:54. | :30:58.
to the big occasion. Some people when the pressure is on they will | :30:58. | :31:03.
rise or they will drop but she always comes up. Here today, she is | :31:03. | :31:06.
only five minutes from home and you know that she wants to perform well | :31:06. | :31:12.
and do well here in front of her home crowd. She is running a one- | :31:12. | :31:17.
woman legacy campaign and she made her desire to go out to every | :31:17. | :31:23.
school in Harrow Borough and take an Olympic story to one of those | :31:23. | :31:27.
children so she's So wonderful person. The borough of Newham, she | :31:27. | :31:32.
is a local girl and this is an aerial shot here. This is the | :31:32. | :31:36.
velodrome where we saw so many magical moments 12 months ago in | :31:36. | :31:46.
:31:46. | :31:46. | ||
Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds | :31:46. | :32:41.
blisteringly quick move. A stunning Rina -- a stunning ride! Great | :32:41. | :32:49.
Britain have won the gold metal -- medal! Victoria Pendleton takes the | :32:49. | :32:57.
gold medal! She is on fire! Heroes were made in that velodrome. | :32:57. | :33:01.
Sir Chris Hoy became the most decorated Olympian of all time. | :33:01. | :33:11.
:33:11. | :33:12. | ||
Sarah's story became when she pulled Tanni Grey-Thompson's record. | :33:12. | :33:20.
Congratulations to her. On the 4th of August, there is a great cycling | :33:20. | :33:30.
:33:30. | :34:07. | ||
event, ride London which you can gold! He is making it two gold | :34:07. | :34:17.
:34:17. | :34:21. | ||
medals for Britain! He is a double Olympic champion. | :34:21. | :34:25.
It is almost Mo Farah time. We have less than half an hour until he | :34:25. | :34:33.
comes back on the track here. Dave Moorcroft currently holds the | :34:33. | :34:36.
3,000-metre record. We'll Mo Farah get another British record to date? | :34:36. | :34:43.
Wind is picking up, but it is not as hot as it was earlier on, when it | :34:43. | :34:47.
was about 30 degrees down on the track. He might not want to give an | :34:47. | :34:52.
all-out effort is close to Moscow. But he is a showman and he is | :34:52. | :34:56.
getting adulation here. Yes, but he can be a showman in the last lap, | :34:56. | :35:06.
:35:06. | :35:07. | ||
raising the pace. He could get close to 62. It is time for the men's | :35:07. | :35:17.
:35:17. | :35:27. | ||
It is no mean feat for Aries Merritt to come back from a hamstring injury | :35:27. | :35:37.
and become the favourite, which he is. David Oliver, another American | :35:37. | :35:46.
who is strong indeed. Jeff Porter, the husband of Tiffany Porter, he | :35:46. | :35:53.
won in the 100 metres hurdles. He sneaks through. Dwight Thomas is | :35:53. | :36:00.
getting on a bit now at 32, a good man on the flat. He was Jamaica's | :36:00. | :36:07.
number one sprinter. But then, of course, you know who came on the | :36:07. | :36:17.
:36:17. | :36:18. | ||
scene. And various William Sharman, a man who has come close in major | :36:18. | :36:23.
championships in 2009 and 2011. But here is the main man, Aries | :36:23. | :36:33.
:36:33. | :36:38. | ||
Merritt. Coming into form at the right time. Thomas | :36:38. | :36:42.
Martinot-Lagarde, the French champion, and his brother Pascal is | :36:42. | :36:48.
perhaps a little better at the moment. There is David Oliver, won | :36:48. | :36:53.
his heat by a distance after Orlando Ortega fell. He was second in the US | :36:53. | :37:03.
:37:03. | :37:04. | ||
Championships. The Polish champion, Artur Noga, third in the Diamond | :37:04. | :37:10.
League meeting in Birmingham. And various Ryan Wilson, finally became | :37:10. | :37:16.
US champion last month at the age of 32. Disappointing in the heats, | :37:16. | :37:21.
which is why he is in lane nine. It is sometimes not a bad thing for a | :37:21. | :37:29.
hurdler to be out there with freedom on one side. There will be anxious | :37:29. | :37:33.
moments now for Aries Merritt, because he wants to run very | :37:33. | :37:42.
quickly. And David Oliver is the fastest in the world. Aries Merritt | :37:42. | :37:48.
ran in the US Championships at one week of training and finished third | :37:48. | :37:55.
there. That shows his pedigree. The race was won by Ryan Wilson. David | :37:55. | :37:59.
Oliver was second. A strong American presence here. Can William Sharman | :37:59. | :38:05.
keep pace and get in amongst them? Aries Merritt is right alongside him | :38:05. | :38:15.
:38:15. | :38:19. | ||
for William Sharman, who rises first. Here comes Aries Merritt, and | :38:19. | :38:24.
there he goes, he is down! Can William Sharman hold on for the | :38:25. | :38:30.
victory! Coming through to take it is David Oliver. He celebrates. He | :38:31. | :38:38.
has the victory. Aries Merritt is pushing his way rather forlornly to | :38:38. | :38:46.
the finish. He is OK. But his pride is hurt more than anything else. He | :38:46. | :38:54.
gingerly stepped forward. A good run from William Sharman. David | :38:54. | :39:00.
Oliver's class showed at the end. Eight good personal best for William | :39:00. | :39:10.
Sharman at 13.26. I was having it its conversation earlier with Andy | :39:10. | :39:16.
Turner and said that, because Aries Merritt is chasing a fast time, may | :39:16. | :39:19.
stress himself and beat himself by making a mistake. He was running | :39:19. | :39:24.
well at this stage, but then clattered with his tail leg and then | :39:24. | :39:31.
could not control it. David Oliver, in contrast, powered his way through | :39:32. | :39:38.
to take victory from William Sharman. He is very good technically | :39:38. | :39:44.
and at the back end of the race he is virtually flawless. You can | :39:44. | :39:48.
guarantee he will keep the pressure on the top layers in the world. Even | :39:48. | :39:52.
David Oliver was surprised to see how William Sharman pushed into the | :39:52. | :40:02.
:40:02. | :40:04. | ||
line. When you sky hurdle, it means that you go a bit higher and it | :40:05. | :40:09.
pushes further across, which means the next barrier you can into makes | :40:09. | :40:14.
it a lot closer, and that is what happens when you are out of rhythm. | :40:14. | :40:24.
:40:24. | :40:33. | ||
Unfortunately for Aries Merritt, he A tremendous performance for William | :40:33. | :40:43.
:40:43. | :40:46. | ||
Sharman. And Aries Merritt, not your best. What happened out there? | :40:46. | :40:49.
feel like I was too close to the first hurdle. This track is very | :40:49. | :40:56.
fast and I could not get my tail leg through enough -- fast enough. But I | :40:56. | :41:00.
am happy that I am not injured! Everything is fine. I was able to | :41:00. | :41:08.
catch myself. Well done. He did well to deep on his feet and not get | :41:09. | :41:12.
injured. You have done well to almost take the victory and a good | :41:12. | :41:19.
personal best. Congratulations. feels fantastic. Firstly, we have a | :41:19. | :41:26.
full stadium and London is buzzing. The stadium is buzzing. 13.2 has | :41:26. | :41:29.
been a long time coming for me. Everyone keeps telling me what I am | :41:29. | :41:34.
capable of, but I never seem to fulfil my potential. I am one step | :41:34. | :41:37.
closer towards it now. I am disappointed that Aries Merritt fell | :41:37. | :41:42.
in that race, because he was my direct competition to push against. | :41:42. | :41:47.
I lost concentration when he fell. Later down the track, I heard the | :41:47. | :41:52.
crowd screaming, which I should have blocked out, but it put me off, and | :41:52. | :41:57.
I lost a bit of concentration and focus because of that. So a bit more | :41:57. | :42:01.
to come still. That is great to hear. Congratulations. David Oliver, | :42:01. | :42:08.
the winner of the race, great to see you back. We know what you did a few | :42:08. | :42:13.
years ago. You are getting back to where you want to be. Yes, I have to | :42:13. | :42:18.
improve the start of my race. This is the last race before Moscow and | :42:18. | :42:23.
it is great to get a Diamond League victory. And maintaining your focus | :42:23. | :42:29.
in a race like that with Aries Merritt almost stumbling... Yes, | :42:29. | :42:33.
maybe I should be more focused, but you just have to stay in your lane | :42:33. | :42:38.
and you can only control your ten hurdles. I did just enough to get | :42:38. | :42:42.
the win today. You did indeed. Good the win today. You did indeed. Good | :42:42. | :42:52.
:42:52. | :42:56. | ||
An impressive win for David Oliver, but a strong run from William | :42:56. | :43:06.
:43:06. | :43:09. | ||
Sharman as well. The second vault in this competition for the Frenchman. | :43:09. | :43:16.
Superb! He gave a victory cheer when he was just over the bar. That is 19 | :43:16. | :43:26.
:43:26. | :43:50. | ||
habitat on champion and also the world junior long jump champion last | :43:50. | :43:56.
year. She has not got great horizontal speed. The fact that she | :43:56. | :44:00.
is very tall might be quite deceptive, but she's powerful on | :44:00. | :44:06.
take-off. She won the world junior title in the long jump, not the | :44:06. | :44:14.
heptathlon. She jumped 6.80 to break the British junior record. Almost | :44:14. | :44:18.
spot on. Another couple of centimetres and it would have | :44:18. | :44:27.
been... And it is 6.4 for again. It maintains a lead in the long jump. | :44:27. | :44:37.
:44:37. | :44:45. | ||
spectator now. The Frenchman is on fire! The last 2 megabits to this | :44:45. | :44:50.
stadium for the Olympic champion have been wonderful. The result was | :44:50. | :44:53.
a gold medal 12 months ago. What could it be this time? Absolutely | :44:53. | :45:01.
superb. Will Lavillenie go higher? That is the question everyone is | :45:02. | :45:10.
asking. For Jessica Ennis-Hill, it proved 6.16 in the third round. She | :45:10. | :45:18.
is through to the final. What can she do? This is unknown territory | :45:18. | :45:28.
:45:28. | :45:33. | ||
for Lavillenie. He goes sky-high! Of the goes on a lap of one. That is | :45:33. | :45:36.
the sixth highest height ever achieved by a pole-vault. Not a bad | :45:36. | :45:41.
high jumper either! Years of diseases coach. And of course, | :45:41. | :45:51.
:45:51. | :45:52. | ||
having clear that, you can elect to go even higher. That was superb. If | :45:52. | :45:56.
he wasn't the favourite for the world title before this | :45:56. | :46:06.
:46:06. | :46:18. | ||
competition, he certainly is now. We have just heard the Renaud | :46:18. | :46:22.
Lavillenie is going to attend the record later on. I have got Boris | :46:22. | :46:28.
Johnson sat next to me here. He just said he cannot believe how | :46:28. | :46:33.
many people are watching athletics. I think it is absolutely incredible | :46:33. | :46:37.
how many people have come. It is a massive stadium and we have | :46:37. | :46:41.
completely failed it. Last year we had an incredible amount to improve | :46:41. | :46:47.
and we proved it. This year it is more relaxed. We are proving | :46:47. | :46:52.
something even more important which is that this place has a massive | :46:52. | :46:56.
lifetime ahead of it and it is going to be a successful stadium | :46:56. | :46:59.
for a long time to come. results yesterday that were | :46:59. | :47:03.
released about a legacy is survey showed an 11% increase in adults | :47:03. | :47:08.
taking up sport and one of the things we needed was more | :47:08. | :47:11.
participation in sport. You watch share of the legacy committee so | :47:11. | :47:17.
how are you going to make sure that there is more investment in grass | :47:17. | :47:21.
root sports? We are doing a huge amount in London to get people to | :47:21. | :47:29.
take up sports. What are you doing? We have got a grassroots legacies | :47:29. | :47:39.
:47:39. | :47:39. | ||
bought training programme, led by Kate Hoey. We have got to 19,000 | :47:39. | :47:45.
people going to swim. They are not pools in the basement of primary | :47:45. | :47:51.
schools any more and we have got these beautiful Paul's we are | :47:51. | :47:55.
sending out for them. We have got football training and tennis | :47:55. | :48:01.
training and ping-pong. Here is a killer statistic. Fines the game's | :48:01. | :48:07.
171,000 extra people have taken some sporting of physical exercise | :48:07. | :48:17.
in London. -- since the big Games. I cannot hear what you are saying | :48:17. | :48:21.
so I am going to say that this was always the most difficult thing to | :48:21. | :48:25.
deliver, the sporting legacy. If you look at the economic results | :48:25. | :48:29.
that we are having, they are incredible. The transformation of | :48:29. | :48:33.
this site is amazing and London is moving to the east at getting | :48:33. | :48:37.
people to take up sport was always going to be the big challenge and | :48:37. | :48:41.
actually the Government has done very well with either 9,000 a year | :48:41. | :48:48.
extra for primary schools. I make no secret about it at that I am | :48:48. | :48:52.
hopeless at sport but I am fanatical. I would like to see two | :48:52. | :48:56.
hours a day for every person in an ideal world. But how will that | :48:56. | :49:02.
happen? It is great to get results at the top level but we need money | :49:02. | :49:05.
in coaching and infrastructure and the grass roots. Where will it come | :49:05. | :49:10.
from? They will come through the primary school investment that the | :49:10. | :49:18.
Government is putting in. There is a grass roots legacy programme. All | :49:18. | :49:26.
these people here in the last few days are absolutely passionate | :49:26. | :49:30.
volunteers. One of the ways they can give their time is by helping | :49:30. | :49:35.
with sports clubs. Where does the money going sport? It goes into | :49:35. | :49:36.
people. Hold your thoughts because people. Hold your thoughts because | :49:36. | :49:42.
Jessica Ennis-Hill is live. This is the 4th round of the long jump. It | :49:42. | :49:47.
was a little bit left than she would have hoped for. The most | :49:47. | :49:52.
important thing, I think, as far as everybody is concerned is that she | :49:52. | :49:57.
has still in one piece. You may notice if you have been watching | :49:57. | :50:02.
all afternoon that the strapping around her left ankle has been | :50:02. | :50:06.
reduced slightly. There is still some strapping them but it is a bit | :50:06. | :50:14.
less than there was a. Katarina Johnson-Thompson is leading. That | :50:14. | :50:19.
is great consistency but we are looking for something in excess of | :50:19. | :50:25.
6.44 jazz. Could this be a little bit of history? Look at that figure. | :50:25. | :50:33.
This is for a new world record. Well, he wasn't a million miles | :50:34. | :50:40.
away but the good news for us is away but the good news for us is | :50:40. | :50:47.
that he has two more attempts. Boris was just admiring the | :50:47. | :50:51.
technique from Renaud Lavillenie there. They seem to go so slowly. | :50:51. | :50:56.
It is like a rocket taking off. am not sure that would be your | :50:56. | :51:01.
event. I was not very good at any of this, except, would you believe, | :51:01. | :51:09.
sprinting. I was quicker than you would expect. This is the final for | :51:09. | :51:14.
the women in 100 metres so we might get down to more with Boris later | :51:14. | :51:24.
:51:24. | :51:27. | ||
but we will get this 100 metres and coming down. The breeze has picked | :51:27. | :51:34.
up a little bit about what a race that we have in prospect. There | :51:34. | :51:40.
were supposed to be eight lining up here but Carmelita Jeter has | :51:40. | :51:44.
withdrawn. She was supposed to be in lane four and she will not start | :51:44. | :51:49.
but we do not know exactly why. She ran their fees and's best in the | :51:49. | :51:53.
heats. She has been struggling this summer with a court problem but it | :51:53. | :51:57.
is still a final factor with very high quality and there could be | :51:57. | :52:07.
:52:07. | :52:07. | ||
some very quick times. English Gardener is in lane two. She was | :52:07. | :52:13.
very impressive this season but in her first race on the UK soil she | :52:13. | :52:23.
:52:23. | :52:34. | ||
only ran 11. Ten in the heats and Carmelita Jeter to the gold medal | :52:34. | :52:42.
last year. It is Shelly-Ann Fraser- Pryce. She was 10.77 in the heat | :52:42. | :52:48.
than she is the quickest in the world this year. Barbara Pierre is | :52:48. | :52:52.
a long fight. She is the fastest of all the Americans here but she will | :52:52. | :52:55.
not be going to the world championships in the individual 100 | :52:55. | :53:03.
metres. She was 5th in the US championships. This is Nigeria's | :53:03. | :53:08.
Blessing Okagbare. She had an average start but my goodness, how | :53:08. | :53:14.
she came through. She beat the African record. Murielle Ahoure of | :53:14. | :53:24.
the Ivory Coast. She was third in the second heat. Below 11 seconds. | :53:24. | :53:30.
Outside her, Kerron Stewart, the Jamaican champion, silver-medallist | :53:30. | :53:34.
in Beijing and the world championships in Berlin a year | :53:34. | :53:40.
after that. The umbrella of a up and there is a bit of a breeze | :53:40. | :53:46.
flitting about the stadium. No longer ideal conditions for | :53:46. | :53:50.
sprinters but what a standard we saw in the heats. English Gardener | :53:50. | :54:00.
:54:00. | :54:25. | ||
is in lane two, no Carmelita Jeter. quickly. Barbara Pierre is leading | :54:25. | :54:33.
them out. Blessing Okagbare a comes through and take said. Shelly-Ann | :54:33. | :54:38.
Fraser-Pryce looked to have third. Again it is legal for Blessing | :54:38. | :54:43.
Okagbare and she goes quicker and quicker still. She will be a world- | :54:43. | :54:48.
beater and she could even do that with a poor start. It is a | :54:48. | :54:53.
wonderful race for have. She will be very dangerous in the long jump | :54:53. | :54:57.
as well. She has gone over seven metres this year but her sprinting | :54:57. | :55:02.
form has been so sensational this season. The big surprise for us all | :55:03. | :55:08.
was the poor showing of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who ran an outstanding | :55:08. | :55:12.
heat. But look at Blessing Okagbare. She is enjoying that. It is another | :55:12. | :55:16.
African record. She did in the first semi-final when she won that | :55:16. | :55:21.
and now she has come back here in the final, against all odds really, | :55:21. | :55:27.
to produce another scintillating bit of sprinting. Good high in the | :55:27. | :55:31.
left and are confident form. She does not really panic. She knows | :55:31. | :55:35.
that she will claw these women back in in the latter part of the race. | :55:35. | :55:40.
That is why she keeps her cool. Perhaps it was not as bad buy it | :55:40. | :55:46.
Blessing Okagbare as it was in the heat but it is just that Barbara | :55:46. | :55:50.
Pierre was so good. 0 that is how it is in the final. You focus and | :55:50. | :55:57.
you switch on and the final is what it is all about. She produced 10.79. | :55:57. | :56:01.
That is sensational sprinting. talked about her beating the | :56:01. | :56:09.
African record which has stood since 1989. Five of these women in | :56:09. | :56:13.
the final went below 11 seconds. A great celebration from Blessing | :56:13. | :56:17.
great celebration from Blessing Okagbare and now she is talking to | :56:17. | :56:25.
The rain started falling but it did not affect you a tour. -- at all. | :56:25. | :56:30.
just want is a thank you to God. I understand a lot of people there | :56:31. | :56:35.
are starters and I know that I can finish so I just had to put up a | :56:35. | :56:40.
good race and I am happy that finally became -- the time came out. | :56:40. | :56:46.
finally became -- the time came out. I am so excited. A second attempt | :56:46. | :56:49.
at the world record for Renaud Lavillenie but despite the | :56:50. | :56:53.
worsening conditions, he came out and he gave it his best shot and he | :56:53. | :56:59.
has still got one more attempt to go. The possible new figures for | :56:59. | :57:04.
all of us are six metres and 16. all of us are six metres and 16. | :57:04. | :57:07.
Blessing you are being patient and waiting alongside us while we saw | :57:07. | :57:11.
that world record attempt. Where does this lead you for the World | :57:11. | :57:17.
Championships? You will be a big contender. Yes, but you know the | :57:17. | :57:20.
defending champion is always the favourite. For me, I just want to | :57:21. | :57:25.
go there and put up my best. Whatever happens I hope it comes | :57:25. | :57:31.
out good. Vicky in Moscow is to put back-to-back races like that close | :57:31. | :57:35.
together. -- the key. I have been training and working hard and | :57:35. | :57:39.
staying on top of my recovery and that is what I need, to be ready to | :57:39. | :57:44.
go every time you call them out -- they call you out. I just hope | :57:44. | :57:49.
everything goes right in Moscow. I am just hoping that when it comes | :57:49. | :57:57.
to Moscow I will be ready to put up to Moscow I will be ready to put up | :57:57. | :57:59.
a fight. Thank you very much for talking. | :57:59. | :58:04.
Well done. That was mightily impressive. As slight concern for | :58:04. | :58:10.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in dropping off like that. We do not know why | :58:10. | :58:15.
Carmelita Jeter had to pull out but we have concerns for her with that | :58:15. | :58:22.
world championships just a couple of weeks away. Lorraine Ugen of | :58:22. | :58:27.
Great Britain is perhaps not one of the best-known British athletes but | :58:27. | :58:32.
she has come through the ranks very well indeed. She has had three | :58:32. | :58:37.
fowls of. That is her 4th round effort and it looks long. It is | :58:38. | :58:42.
still Katarina Johnson-Thompson who leads at the moment with a season's | :58:42. | :58:47.
best of 6.44. Lorraine Ugen is actually at college in the United | :58:47. | :58:57.
States in tax if -- in tax if. She won the US collegiate championship | :58:57. | :59:03.
this year. 6.44, that equals what Katarina Johnson-Thompson has done | :59:03. | :59:11.
that she is still in second place. So, Jessica Ennis-Hill. Will she | :59:11. | :59:20.
stay in one piece? I sincerely hope so. Just over the six metres line. | :59:20. | :59:27.
Once again the smile is there, so no pain, that is the most important | :59:27. | :59:37.
:59:37. | :59:38. | ||
thing. One more jump to go after this one for Jessica Ennis-Hill. | :59:38. | :59:43.
Six metres exactly that way behind the border so that actually was a | :59:43. | :59:50.
the border so that actually was a 6.23 jump. | :59:50. | :59:55.
That is Jessica's coach who we saw earlier Ron. She is watching and | :59:55. | :00:00.
giving her some hoping. She is out of practising competition and this | :00:00. | :00:04.
is her first big stage this year to test herself so it will be | :00:04. | :00:08.
interesting to see how she comes through this. I know Boris is a | :00:08. | :00:13.
massive fan. All of my kids are, it is incredible, they have read a | :00:13. | :00:23.
:00:23. | :00:33. | ||
Realistically, an hour would be easier to achieve. How can we | :00:33. | :00:36.
transferred the enthusiasm that everyone has got here and had last | :00:36. | :00:41.
night, the participation in adults, and make sure that government get | :00:41. | :00:44.
into grassroots sport? All the elite athletes have said it was the | :00:44. | :00:49.
key. There is a billion pounds being spent on grassroots community | :00:49. | :00:54.
based sport over the next few years. The 150 million that has been | :00:55. | :00:59.
targeted specifically for primary- school kids, nine-12, that is the | :00:59. | :01:03.
period in their lives when they read to really expose the | :01:03. | :01:09.
excitement of sport and physical activity. It is moving in the right | :01:09. | :01:12.
direction. We are not going to be warming our hands over the hot | :01:12. | :01:17.
coals of the Olympic Games alone. We have got games and events like | :01:17. | :01:21.
this, the World Athletics Championships here in 2017. We are | :01:21. | :01:26.
just watching another world record attempt from Ayanleh Souleiman. | :01:26. | :01:36.
:01:36. | :01:43. | ||
-- to Lavillenie. He is the favourite for Moscow. Surrey, said! | :01:43. | :01:51.
That was it! I think that is your lot, Gabby! Mo Farah is warming up | :01:51. | :01:56.
on the track. His three K is coming up in a few moments time. | :01:56. | :01:58.
Conditions not quite as good have they have been this afternoon. You | :01:58. | :02:02.
have been enjoying this from a hospitality or whether you have | :02:02. | :02:08.
come from. I will go back to where I have come from. Sebastian will | :02:08. | :02:15.
stay with us. He will be joined by it Paula Radcliffe, to talk all | :02:15. | :02:18.
things middle-distance running, and the brilliance of this man who came | :02:19. | :02:22.
into London with so much expectation on his shoulders. He | :02:22. | :02:32.
:02:32. | :02:36. | ||
was already a household name. He hears, and the nation expects again. | :02:36. | :02:39.
He is now at that point in his career where anything other than a | :02:39. | :02:42.
world record or a season's best or national worker -- record, as he | :02:43. | :02:51.
got in Monaco the other night, is almost seen as a failure! It is a | :02:51. | :02:56.
harsh world that he is in but he has set his own expectation. He is | :02:56. | :03:00.
the real deal. The performance if he ran over 1500 metres this and so | :03:01. | :03:05.
it record -- so many weapons in his arm reform was going a few weeks. I | :03:05. | :03:12.
spoke to him earlier and he is incredibly confident. He is cutting | :03:12. | :03:20.
a swathe through records Pruneau care. -- through British records. I | :03:20. | :03:25.
just hope he does not strike the 800 metres! I put that thought in | :03:25. | :03:32.
your head last night! The crowd are loving him, he is a crowd-pleaser. | :03:32. | :03:36.
He likes playing to the crowd as well and I think that helps lift | :03:36. | :03:40.
him up and raises his performance to another level. He is on cloud | :03:40. | :03:47.
nine coming back here, he knows he is in great shape. His big thing is | :03:47. | :03:54.
so he does not, as he says, over cricket and go in to -- overcook it | :03:54. | :04:04.
:04:04. | :04:12. | ||
the field against him is not one which will undue worry him. One | :04:12. | :04:20.
all-too-familiar characters. Andy Vernon, he won a big personal best | :04:20. | :04:26.
recently. Cameron Levins, he is a training partner of Mo Farah. | :04:26. | :04:36.
Gideon Gathimba is well known to Mo Farah as well, as is Tariku Bekele. | :04:36. | :04:42.
His more famous brother will be at the World Championships. I guess | :04:42. | :04:47.
the only question is, how fast does Mo want to go? The British record, | :04:48. | :04:57.
:04:58. | :04:58. | ||
which has been held by David Moorcroft for over 30 years now. | :04:58. | :05:02.
They would love to see him break it. I think they will be happy if he | :05:02. | :05:07.
does anything, as long as he wins, which he puppy -- which I am pretty | :05:07. | :05:15.
sure he will do. If he wants to go to the record cover it is within | :05:15. | :05:19.
his ability to do that. It will be whether the pacemaker can do the | :05:19. | :05:29.
:05:29. | :05:32. | ||
was to take it on himself. Some of the other athletes might keep up | :05:32. | :05:40.
with him. Here is Hassad Mead. Cameron Levins of Canada. Nathan | :05:40. | :05:48.
Brannen of New Zealand. Andy Vernon was in Dublin, Christensen, I think | :05:48. | :05:53.
unfortunate not be selected. He missed at the 10 K a standard by a | :05:53. | :06:03.
:06:03. | :06:06. | ||
few tents in April. -- a few tenths of a second. Back in 2010, when Mo | :06:06. | :06:14.
announced he was moving into world class, then in that race, Daniele | :06:14. | :06:23.
Meucci was behind him. Let's have a look, the Mo should get under way. | :06:23. | :06:27.
I think there will be a good noise level in the stadium for the | :06:27. | :06:33.
duration of the race. The pacemaker moves to the front. It is really | :06:33. | :06:43.
down to Mo here. At his best, he can run may be 7.25 for 3000 metres. | :06:43. | :06:47.
It is the championships so that will be important in Moscow, and he | :06:47. | :06:50.
and his could well have decided what he wants out of this race. | :06:50. | :06:55.
has come into the stadium, a Saturday, Olympic stadium in London, | :06:55. | :07:02.
so we know what happens, Mo wins. Every Saturday he has won here, he | :07:02. | :07:07.
has won a medal. He is looking over his shoulder to see what is going | :07:07. | :07:11.
on behind him. It is his decision, does he wants to run quick, does he | :07:11. | :07:14.
care about the time? We know how good shape he is in. We were | :07:14. | :07:23.
staggered and astonished how well he run the 1500 metres. And 27 | :07:23. | :07:27.
minutes to 10,000 metres. His range of ability is outstanding. He has | :07:27. | :07:32.
never been in better shape. When an athlete get in this shape, they do | :07:32. | :07:36.
amazing things. His coach and him will have agreed something. You | :07:36. | :07:40.
know that Mo is an honest distance runner, he will go out and give an | :07:40. | :07:44.
honest performance. We travel expect him to win. Let's just see | :07:45. | :07:50.
how fast he runs. The pace is pretty steady. Six laps to go. Mo | :07:50. | :07:57.
Farah, double Olympic champion, I am still not tired of saying that! | :07:57. | :08:03.
They started swiftly enough, but they slowed down. It is 64.4 | :08:03. | :08:09.
through the finish line. Much slower from Ishmael Kombich, that | :08:09. | :08:12.
will not be good enough for the record if there are too many laps | :08:12. | :08:20.
at that pace. Mo can certainly run 61, 62. And then really attack the | :08:20. | :08:30.
:08:30. | :08:31. | ||
last 1000. If they runt 64, he will disappear into the distance. He is | :08:31. | :08:38.
good at this distance. He has run at 7.38. If they goat too slowly, | :08:38. | :08:45.
he will not even get that. He's capable of so much better. His tiny | :08:45. | :08:53.
bit of a laugh with Dathan Ritzenhein. It is a bit slow, I | :08:53. | :08:59.
think he might be thinking, he was meant to be quicker than this. | :08:59. | :09:03.
not think there is any attack on any serious records here. One day - | :09:03. | :09:08.
- one day, we know that he will run an exceptional 3000 metres. British | :09:09. | :09:12.
record-holder for 1500 metres, 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. Clearly | :09:12. | :09:16.
he will be the record holder for 3000 metres when he chooses to do | :09:16. | :09:21.
so. Behind him in the green vest, Christensen. Disappointed that he | :09:21. | :09:24.
is not going to the bar championships. -- Chris Thompson. | :09:24. | :09:29.
They could have slipped him in, Mo Farah would have had a wild card, | :09:29. | :09:32.
so they could have opened eight space for Chris Thomson, even | :09:32. | :09:37.
though he has not done the a standard. I am a bit stand, there | :09:37. | :09:41.
is no point having just one Distance runner. -- a bit sad. | :09:41. | :09:47.
Chris Thomson is probably our next best distance runner. Unita have | :09:47. | :09:53.
exposed of the championships. To find out who you really are. Here | :09:53. | :10:01.
goes to recoup the Keighley, bronze medal. He has not running as well | :10:01. | :10:07.
this season. He has decided it is not quicken up. The races become | :10:07. | :10:14.
pedestrian. So to recoup the KLA, who is at -- Tariku Bekele, he is | :10:14. | :10:20.
beginning to test them. And Mo Farah has decided to follow him. | :10:20. | :10:27.
This looks like it could have been the cricket -- could his lap of the | :10:27. | :10:37.
:10:37. | :10:41. | ||
race. He has had enough. Mo Farah is following him. That injection of | :10:41. | :10:44.
pace has a stretched them out a little. Coming into the home | :10:44. | :10:50.
straight, three laps to go. The crowd is really enjoying this. What | :10:50. | :11:00.
:11:00. | :11:02. | ||
will be given here is a Mo last lap or last 6000 metres -- hundred 600 | :11:02. | :11:12.
:11:12. | :11:13. | ||
metres big sprint. That is the bit that everyone is worried about. It | :11:13. | :11:19.
is almost on hold off -- unheard of for a 5000 or 10,000 metre person | :11:19. | :11:22.
to do that. That is the net exceptional thing I have seen from | :11:22. | :11:32.
:11:32. | :11:35. | ||
mode Farrar. He ran brilliantly to get his record. His confidence is | :11:35. | :11:40.
absolutely sky-high. He is here, he has got his equipment, he knows | :11:40. | :11:44.
what he has got to be to be in contention, and there has never | :11:44. | :11:52.
been a distance runner capable of running 50 seconds in the last lap. | :11:52. | :11:55.
Here, he is giving the crowd a lead to cheer as they come down the | :11:55. | :12:01.
finishing straight. Two laps to go in the 3000 metres. And Mo Farah is | :12:01. | :12:06.
giving them a little to what they came for. They came to watch him | :12:06. | :12:10.
when. As I said earlier, it is Saturday, the Olympic Stadium, Mo | :12:10. | :12:19.
wins! Dathan Ritzenhein is trying to stretch them out. These three | :12:19. | :12:26.
have pulled them out of the way of the rest. This is Mo's territory. | :12:26. | :12:33.
This is where Mo wants to take control of races. Leaders was to | :12:33. | :12:38.
get out of the way of the legs. Making sure that Tariku Bekele will | :12:38. | :12:44.
not attack him on the outside. Have a guess at his last lap? That was | :12:44. | :12:49.
60. Here he goes in the finishing straight. One lap to go to the | :12:49. | :12:52.
whole crowd will be able to watch him. He is already pulling away | :12:52. | :13:00.
from world-class distance runners. It is six minutes 41 seconds. It is | :13:00. | :13:04.
going to be pretty quick. He has already done enough exhilarating. | :13:04. | :13:09.
He has already opened up and told them, I have not even started | :13:09. | :13:16.
sprinting yet. He has got 20 metres on a world class field. Mo Farah in | :13:16. | :13:23.
full flow, it is an absolute pleasure, to watch the world | :13:23. | :13:29.
champion in all his glory. Mo Farah in majestic style moved away from | :13:29. | :13:32.
the rest of the field, takes themselves into the different | :13:32. | :13:36.
territory into which he is running now. This crowd are absolutely love | :13:36. | :13:40.
in this. All of them are all on their feet. Shades of last year. A | :13:40. | :13:46.
much easier race to win. Nowhere near the British record. He might | :13:46. | :13:55.
eclipse Brendan Foster's first best! He can sue for another | :13:55. | :14:00.
significant victory. A personal best for him. -- he comes through. | :14:00. | :14:05.
He can now head of to the world championships with I don't know how | :14:05. | :14:09.
much confidence. I do not know how much confidence any athlete can | :14:09. | :14:12.
have. You have got to be respectful of your competitors. It will be | :14:12. | :14:17.
tough. He has got to run the 10,000 metres, then he has got heat of the | :14:17. | :14:22.
5000 metres, 5000 metre final. Let's not kid ourselves, he is | :14:22. | :14:26.
there man, the Kenyans he will be putting about him, be reviewed in | :14:26. | :14:30.
will be thinking about him. They have not been able to do anything | :14:30. | :14:33.
about him. -- the Ethiopians will be thinking about him. Unless | :14:33. | :14:42.
something unusual happens. Mo Farah, we hope and we suspect that he will | :14:42. | :14:46.
be thinking the same, heading off to Moscow with his two gold medals | :14:46. | :14:52.
very much in his sights. All well and good today. I am not sure I | :14:52. | :14:58.
have seemed anyone and make that race looks a comfortable and easy. | :14:59. | :15:03.
He absolutely loves coming here. He always knows he's going to want -- | :15:03. | :15:10.
win when he comes there. He has been here three times, band won | :15:10. | :15:16.
three times. Let's hope he's still around to when the stadium is | :15:16. | :15:19.
rebuilt. The inspiration he is providing to the next generation, | :15:19. | :15:23.
that is what it is about with Mo Farah. He is running exceptionally | :15:23. | :15:28.
well. There he goes. Dathan Ritzenhein, his training partner, | :15:28. | :15:33.
look at Mo just drifting to the front. 500 metres to go. And within | :15:33. | :15:40.
10 strides he opens up three or four metres. He goes determined. He | :15:40. | :15:46.
runs strongly here. He is running so quickly. The Olympic bronze | :15:46. | :15:51.
medallist is trailing in his wake. This last lap here, we are heading | :15:51. | :15:55.
into, he is not even trying the that. He's just relaxing, running | :15:55. | :16:00.
strongly. He keeps an eye on what is going on. He is enjoying the | :16:00. | :16:04.
crowd and so he should. These are great days of his athletic career. | :16:04. | :16:08.
These are great times for Mo Farah, great times for British distance | :16:08. | :16:12.
running and they are also, the people who could not get to see him | :16:12. | :16:16.
at the Olympic Games, have come here today to watch him run. They | :16:16. | :16:19.
have watched him every second of his competition in the Olympics. He | :16:19. | :16:24.
has moved up another gear. Here he is demonstrating next year. Into | :16:24. | :16:29.
the finishing straight. On the way to a personal best but that does | :16:29. | :16:34.
not matter. The last lap of 55 seconds does not matter. When you | :16:34. | :16:37.
combine fitness and strength, and the speed that he has got with the | :16:38. | :16:41.
conference he has got, you are looking at an athlete to almost is | :16:41. | :16:46.
unbeatable. Les's record to the world championships in a few weeks' | :16:46. | :16:51.
time, we will see him running again and let's hope he can stay | :16:51. | :17:01.
:17:01. | :17:10. | ||
unbeatable. He is the top of his You have given great delight in a | :17:10. | :17:16.
crowd and that is what you came out to do. Absolutely. I wanted to come | :17:16. | :17:22.
and run this map race and I enjoy this track and have great memories. | :17:22. | :17:26.
I got really emotional coming in here because 2012 was a big year | :17:26. | :17:33.
for me and having that home support was great. The reception, where you | :17:33. | :17:36.
go around the country you get a loud reception but this was | :17:36. | :17:42.
something else. It was incredible. It is close to the noise of the | :17:42. | :17:45.
Olympics so it was amazing to have so many people behind you and | :17:45. | :17:49.
cheering for you as a nation. I won the race and I want to make my | :17:49. | :17:53.
country proud and get on the podium. Steve Cram was just saying that | :17:53. | :17:56.
with each race you must grow in confidence but how much more | :17:56. | :17:59.
confident can you get because it seems as though you reach new | :17:59. | :18:04.
heights every time you run? Absolutely. I am learning every | :18:04. | :18:09.
time I run. I have to go out there and give it 110% and respect | :18:09. | :18:13.
everyone but at the same time try and win the race. Moscow is just | :18:13. | :18:18.
around the corner so what is the next phase? I will be out tomorrow | :18:18. | :18:25.
morning and I will go to San Moritz and I will be their training until | :18:25. | :18:28.
Moscow. They must be a great feeling to know that all of these | :18:28. | :18:31.
people multiplied by many thousands more will be supporting you all of | :18:31. | :18:36.
the way in Moscow. Yes, I am honoured to be representing my | :18:36. | :18:39.
country and to have the support that I get. I just want to thank | :18:40. | :18:43.
everyone to have supported me and my aim is to go out there in Moscow | :18:43. | :18:53.
:18:53. | :19:01. | ||
and make the country proud. Thank Mo Farah will head off for some | :19:01. | :19:02.
Mo Farah will head off for some high altitude training and the rest | :19:02. | :19:12.
:19:12. | :19:14. | ||
of the British team heads of to their camp as well. Personal best | :19:14. | :19:18.
today and Mo Farah goes forth on today and Mo Farah goes forth on | :19:19. | :19:25.
the all-time list. Stephen was secretly hoping that | :19:25. | :19:28.
Brendan's record might have gone today but that was not to be. He | :19:28. | :19:33.
made it look so easy. In his environment, he is so comfortable | :19:33. | :19:38.
here, it is his stadium and it is where the winds. He goes to Moscow | :19:38. | :19:40.
and the Kenyans and Ethiopians are in their training camps and he | :19:41. | :19:44.
should take nothing but granted but have you seen anyone look more | :19:44. | :19:54.
relaxed? Here then a period in his career where he is actually walking | :19:54. | :19:58.
out on to the track knowing that he is probably not going to lose. The | :19:59. | :20:02.
worst thing about that, of course, is that the athletes that are | :20:02. | :20:06.
lining up with him are looking at him and thinking that they are not | :20:06. | :20:11.
going to beat him and that is a crucial asset. The other crucial | :20:11. | :20:15.
asset he has is that he have the ability to change the whole nature | :20:15. | :20:20.
of a race in a few paces. 55 seconds for the last rats -- lap, | :20:20. | :20:27.
impressive, 4th on the all-time British list, impressive, and | :20:27. | :20:30.
getting pars some very good athletes but it was the nature of | :20:30. | :20:35.
what he did with a lap and 50 metres to go, it was an | :20:35. | :20:39.
extraordinary change of pace and to build on it. The people he was | :20:39. | :20:45.
leaving behind were not selling places, they may not be in the best | :20:45. | :20:49.
form of their career but it was an extraordinary piece of majestic | :20:49. | :20:55.
running. Now in a change of pace this man is back out on the track. | :20:55. | :20:59.
Before you go, porn a, a quick line on a Mo Farah and the form he is in | :20:59. | :21:02.
and we have seen in the last few days. | :21:02. | :21:08.
If I think we are very excited about Moscow. He is in that groove | :21:08. | :21:12.
now. I would be very scared if I was racing him because you would | :21:12. | :21:16.
wonder how to beat him. He can finish like that Hamed he has got | :21:16. | :21:20.
the endurance and strength so they have their work cut out trying to | :21:20. | :21:24.
beat him. He is arguably way Usain Bolt is as sprinting with the rest | :21:24. | :21:29.
of the well tried to work out to beat him. Today Usain Bolt has a | :21:29. | :21:33.
few friends with him. It is a few friends with him. It is a | :21:34. | :21:36.
chance to practise the relay technique. | :21:36. | :21:43.
Usain Bolt will be running on the final leg. They have got a stronger | :21:43. | :21:48.
team. Whether or not what the final Jim Aitken team will be, decimated | :21:49. | :21:55.
by the problems with Tyson Gay and the others who will not be there. - | :21:55. | :22:05.
:22:05. | :22:12. | ||
- the Jamaican team. This is the opportunities to run too many | :22:12. | :22:17.
relays. There was one for the Americans in April but this is a | :22:17. | :22:21.
big test for a lot of the teams. The Netherlands have been drawn on | :22:21. | :22:29.
the inside there. The Canadians were disqualified here last year | :22:29. | :22:34.
after thinking they had won a bronze medal. A slight change in | :22:34. | :22:39.
their line-up. Harris has been brought in for their lead up like. | :22:39. | :22:49.
:22:49. | :22:51. | ||
The All Stars. Mike Rodgers is the first one on their team. This is | :22:51. | :22:56.
the British squad without James Dasaolu. Dwain Chambers is going to | :22:56. | :23:06.
:23:06. | :23:07. | ||
be the lead-off. Dwain Chambers run pretty well yesterday. There was | :23:08. | :23:17.
:23:18. | :23:21. | ||
some great runs in a domestic 100 metres. This is another Great | :23:21. | :23:29.
Britain team. Andy Robinson has had a great year. He will lead off the | :23:29. | :23:39.
:23:39. | :23:40. | ||
GP to a team. The French team has Jimmy Vicaut. They also have | :23:40. | :23:50.
:23:50. | :23:51. | ||
Christian Lemaitre. Germany going eight. -- Germany go in eight. On | :23:51. | :23:58.
the outside will be Australia. A few things for me. The biggest | :23:58. | :24:02.
thing is the British team. We are told that both of the squads will | :24:02. | :24:06.
be stretching things this weekend and they will be looking to really | :24:06. | :24:10.
take the risks and they will not be going pulsate changes but they will | :24:10. | :24:16.
be going for a quick times and that is a high risk strategy. Of course, | :24:16. | :24:20.
will the team miss James Dasaolu. Who is going to try and hold off | :24:20. | :24:29.
Usain Bolt? We know it is Harry Aitken's on the last leg. We have | :24:29. | :24:39.
:24:39. | :24:40. | ||
the Netherlands and Canada all-star team, GB and G B two. France, | :24:40. | :24:50.
:24:50. | :24:54. | ||
really important that Dwain Chambers get the team away and he | :24:54. | :24:59.
has had a good start. The first changeover was a good one for | :24:59. | :25:04.
Britain. Also for the Jamaican team. James Ellington is trying to hang | :25:04. | :25:11.
on. Another very good or change for Great Britain. No, they drop dead. | :25:11. | :25:21.
Gone. I just thought they made it. Usain Bolt has got it all to | :25:21. | :25:28.
himself. This is a show for the crowd. Usain Bolt texted across the | :25:28. | :25:36.
line. -- Usain Bolt takes it across the line. Goodness me! 37.75. That | :25:36. | :25:42.
is not even a proper team. That is just a thrown together a team. That | :25:42. | :25:45.
quartet will have never run before and that shows you that if you get | :25:45. | :25:50.
for really fast men get the baton changes right. It was James | :25:50. | :25:54.
Ellington not getting the baton across in the second changeover for | :25:54. | :26:01.
Great Britain. They said it was high risk and the British team were | :26:01. | :26:07.
going to try and stretch it and with Adam Gemili coming end, they | :26:07. | :26:12.
were trying to run at Big Ben but unfortunately the risk did not pay | :26:12. | :26:16.
off. I thought he almost had it in his hand, I was looking at my naked | :26:16. | :26:22.
eye but he obviously dropped it. What would your verdict be on that? | :26:22. | :26:27.
It was always going to be a high- risk strategy to go for at full | :26:27. | :26:32.
stretch in this kind of environment. Both British teams will really want | :26:32. | :26:35.
to put it out there in this environment and feared they can get | :26:35. | :26:40.
a fast time and get into the 30th second figure. The only way to do | :26:40. | :26:44.
it under these circumstances is to stretch it but Adam Gemili was that | :26:44. | :26:48.
I do not understand why the baton got dropped there. I feel a little | :26:48. | :26:53.
bit for him. If you remember last year was his change at the Olympic | :26:53. | :26:56.
Stadium Makos stuff and we got disqualified so he is going to feel | :26:57. | :27:02.
really awful. This team, led by Usain Bolt, I think they were tried | :27:02. | :27:07.
to get the World League but they just missed that. It was won last | :27:07. | :27:12.
weekend in Monaco by at USA team. I think they would have wanted to get | :27:12. | :27:16.
that world-leading performance but they just missed it. But the | :27:16. | :27:26.
:27:26. | :27:26. | ||
Jamaica on, when they blended together, they are unstoppable. | :27:26. | :27:32.
can just see Mo Farah in the background just watching it. Usain | :27:32. | :27:36.
Bolt was really going for it. He tried to get that time and they | :27:36. | :27:42.
have some good changes and although that will not be their strongest | :27:42. | :27:46.
quartet, but with Warren Weir and Usain Bolt, they have got a strong | :27:46. | :27:51.
quartet and they have just shown it there. | :27:51. | :27:55.
What a quartet and what a man to bring them home. As you charged | :27:55. | :27:59.
down the finishing straight, --, you said you were looking at the | :27:59. | :28:05.
clock and you want to the time. is our first run for the relay team | :28:05. | :28:09.
so of form may we wanted to run as fast time to see where we are at so | :28:09. | :28:12.
it was good. How have the whole experience been for you this | :28:13. | :28:16.
weekend, the crowd has been phenomenal. You have been the star | :28:16. | :28:20.
attraction! It is magnificent to be her. It is like being at the | :28:20. | :28:24.
Olympics. The energy is incredible. I can't believe it, I seriously | :28:24. | :28:28.
can't but it is just wonderful. I was watching when Mo Farah was | :28:28. | :28:33.
running and it was so loud it was ridiculous. Why he can do and | :28:33. | :28:36.
ignite the crowd is similar to you and we do not usually seen at over | :28:36. | :28:40.
long distances. The it was beautiful and wonderful. | :28:40. | :28:45.
He is a wonderful athlete and I was happy to see him. What is next for | :28:45. | :28:49.
you guys? It is back to training in Moscow so we have got to go and | :28:49. | :28:53.
look at the text and figure out what we need to do and get it down. | :28:53. | :28:57.
As for this kind of thing, you send a message out to London that you | :28:57. | :29:01.
want this every year? Yes, I am happy with the way it is going and | :29:01. | :29:06.
my early season was not coming together by now it is and I am just | :29:06. | :29:16.
:29:16. | :29:17. | ||
happy to be here in London. What a performance and what a man | :29:17. | :29:23.
and what a day we have had here. We have had two brilliant days | :29:23. | :29:28.
altogether. The long jump is coming towards its conclusion and Katarina | :29:28. | :29:34.
Johnson-Thompson is still in the lead. Bianca Stuart of the Bahamas, | :29:34. | :29:40.
what can she do in the last round? That is good. That could challenge | :29:40. | :29:44.
Katarina Johnson-Thompson's best jump. She had led since the second | :29:44. | :29:49.
round. She duplicated her jump in the third round and she has won | :29:49. | :29:52.
the third round and she has won more jump to go but Bianca Stuart | :29:52. | :29:57.
has had 6.4 as her best jump up until this point and she is a | :29:57. | :30:02.
national record holder for the Bahamas. She is a very useful | :30:02. | :30:07.
athlete and spend a lot of time in the United States. 6.4 secs. That | :30:07. | :30:17.
:30:17. | :30:28. | ||
means Katarina Johnson-Thompson is jumper. It is one of her strongest | :30:28. | :30:33.
event in the heptathlon, that is the sure. That looks as though it | :30:33. | :30:41.
is a round about the same distance as Bianca Stuart. If it is the same, | :30:41. | :30:45.
she would win because she has had the second-best jump which is | :30:45. | :30:50.
better than that of Bianca Stuart. Look at that, she lost 20 | :30:50. | :30:54.
centimetres. She knows he's in very good shape indeed. The win would be | :30:54. | :31:01.
the icing on the cake. She gets it, 6.46, exactly the same as Bianca | :31:01. | :31:09.
Stuart. Because of the countback situation, victory is hers. One of | :31:09. | :31:15.
the most significant things on this results caption is that of Jessica | :31:15. | :31:21.
Ennis-Hill's last place. Some way below her lifetime best of 6.51. | :31:21. | :31:25.
She has finished a competition in one piece and will go to Moscow to | :31:25. | :31:35.
:31:35. | :31:37. | ||
look for that one championship What a day, back in the Olympic | :31:37. | :31:40.
stadium. I remember the look on your face when you first came here | :31:40. | :31:46.
a year ago, the cheer you got, it was reminiscent today. The wind | :31:46. | :31:51.
blew in my face and it has stuck like this for ever! I could not be | :31:51. | :31:56.
happier and longer -- appear to be picked in the long jump. I rest of | :31:56. | :32:02.
the occasion again. Well done to your success, you have got a spot | :32:02. | :32:05.
in Moscow to be looking for a two. You seem to be building year by | :32:05. | :32:11.
year. This year has been a weird one, I have had a bit of injury, I | :32:11. | :32:18.
think it is good that great won the championship last week, the | :32:18. | :32:26.
European Under 23. I am just hoping to get to Moscow. We wish you well. | :32:26. | :32:30.
That is what the crowd think, we have had some fantastic British | :32:30. | :32:35.
performances here today. Katarina Johnson-Thomson effect of the | :32:35. | :32:40.
Windsor last event of the day. -- effectively a wins. Jessica Ennis- | :32:40. | :32:45.
Hill is one of the athletes that everyone was hoping would come | :32:45. | :32:51.
through this unscathed. After her event, she talks to Phil Jones. | :32:51. | :32:55.
A double dose of action for Jess Ennis-Hill, it is great to see that | :32:55. | :32:59.
you were able to put a series of jumps together, put to injury to | :33:00. | :33:05.
the test, had a do come through? was great to come here and test it | :33:05. | :33:08.
out. Frustrating to not be in the shape it wanted to be coming into | :33:08. | :33:13.
this event. It has been amazing to be here and steam the stadium here | :33:13. | :33:19.
full again come and having the support. You were a huge part of | :33:19. | :33:21.
this come what you're able to achieve last year, bringing these | :33:21. | :33:27.
people back. How aware of that are you? It was not just me, it was Mo, | :33:27. | :33:31.
the other amazing athlete we had, the country but on an amazing show | :33:31. | :33:35.
last year. We are showing it how people are inspired, the crowds are | :33:35. | :33:39.
still wanted to come in and watch as compete. It is everyone's part | :33:39. | :33:44.
in it all. So see how your injury reacts to what you have put your | :33:44. | :33:48.
body through today? Definitely come a see how it reacts tomorrow and | :33:48. | :33:51.
the day after, have a sit down with my coach and see where we are, | :33:52. | :33:59.
where we need to be two weeks ahead of Moscow. We all wish you the best | :33:59. | :34:03.
for Moscow, had you can make it in one piece and challenge for the | :34:03. | :34:13.

Coverage starts from 12pm on 5 Live. Right now on BBC2, there is live | :35:42. | :35:51.
Challenge Cup Premier League rugby. Then Formula One action, the | :35:52. | :35:55.
Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying. And if you want to reminisce, the | :35:55. | :36:01.
opening ceremony is on BBC Three at 7pm tonight. So many great | :36:01. | :36:08.
performances over the last today's, -- two days, athletes turning up | :36:08. | :36:18.
:36:18. | :36:46. | ||
ready for the World Championships Promises to be a fantastic | :36:46. | :36:49.
championships. Some of the performances we have seen here are | :36:49. | :36:53.
anything to go by. Steve and Colin is here, Lord Coe has stayed with | :36:53. | :36:59.
us. Just hearing Usain Bolt they eulogise about the energy he got | :36:59. | :37:02.
from this crowd, he is not a man who is going to give away those | :37:02. | :37:08.
comments lightly. He doesn't so bad about that many meetings. I think | :37:08. | :37:12.
he feels spirit surely this has become home to him. -- he doesn't | :37:12. | :37:17.
say that about many meetings. A massive chunk of the crowd that he | :37:17. | :37:21.
knows have a sense to become to see him. Such a knowledgeable athletics | :37:22. | :37:25.
crowds today, as well as a celebratory atmosphere, they wanted | :37:25. | :37:30.
to see their stars. I suspect there were quite a lot of people here who | :37:30. | :37:33.
could not get tickets for the Olympics and wanted to make sure | :37:33. | :37:37.
they were here. Said is laughing, that is great! There are probably a | :37:37. | :37:40.
lot of people who did not get to the Games. This is a great | :37:41. | :37:46.
opportunity for them. Which is why, it was a great crowd. Moscow will | :37:46. | :37:52.
have a hard act to follow. Not only do we have the Olympics, we have | :37:52. | :37:57.
had this as a Diamond League meeting. It will be tough for them | :37:57. | :38:01.
to recreate the atmosphere. Those guys there, is in Jamaica, USA and | :38:02. | :38:08.
the rest, in the middles, they put out a marked today. A strong | :38:08. | :38:12.
performance from the more. They enjoyed the whole feel of it. They | :38:12. | :38:16.
had enjoyed being here and participating in this. It will be | :38:17. | :38:21.
exciting in Moscow. It is the way to end a major championships. A | :38:21. | :38:27.
tight race, Jamaica versus USA in that we live. One of the domestic | :38:27. | :38:31.
performances of the whole weekend, Christine Ohuruogu, who times has | :38:31. | :38:37.
seasons as always to perfection. The other times have been in major | :38:37. | :38:40.
championships. She seems to be on target once again to put in a | :38:40. | :38:44.
performance at Moscow that will bring home a medal of some colour. | :38:44. | :38:48.
We have talked about the crucial asset of change of pace, getting | :38:48. | :38:51.
into the zone and knowing you're not going to lose. The other | :38:51. | :38:56.
crucial asset is being a championship performer. It does not | :38:56. | :39:01.
really faze her when other races are not particularly spectacular. | :39:01. | :39:06.
She does have the knack of getting into great shape and it does matter. | :39:06. | :39:13.
I wasn't really -- a little worried that he was -- she was going to run | :39:13. | :39:18.
49.99 to break the habit! I think she is a model for other British | :39:18. | :39:22.
athletes for the last six years. Even before that, Commonwealth | :39:22. | :39:26.
Games 2006, seven years ago. She always does better at championships | :39:26. | :39:30.
than the rest of the season. All, if it is a domestic meets, she | :39:30. | :39:35.
always does well. That is the type of person she is. When it really | :39:35. | :39:39.
means something to her, she can get something of a bit extra. Lloyd is | :39:39. | :39:45.
done a great job. There were things in the race that she was working on. | :39:45. | :39:49.
It is a big plan that they have each year that they execute | :39:49. | :39:54.
incredibly well. Should sit down with her and talk through with some | :39:54. | :39:58.
of the other people, chance tell them how to do it. What did we | :39:58. | :40:01.
learn about Jessica Ennis-Hill today? We know she's have become a | :40:01. | :40:05.
she got through to events. I know she will go back to the drawing | :40:05. | :40:10.
wire -- strong board -- she is healthy, she has got through two | :40:10. | :40:15.
events. It is not about exactly where she finished today, it is | :40:15. | :40:23.
about how far she ran and how fast she ran. I think these things are | :40:23. | :40:27.
very unpredictable. I will hold my breath and will she reports over | :40:27. | :40:30.
the next couple of days that the performances in Loughborough on | :40:30. | :40:35.
Tuesday and here again over the weekend are safely behind her. | :40:35. | :40:42.
Because she could easily wake up feeling quite soar again. I did not | :40:42. | :40:47.
once to the doom and gloom here. Achilles tendons are a notoriously | :40:47. | :40:54.
difficult to fling off. I think the key for Jess in the heptathlon is | :40:54. | :40:59.
her speed. She's so good at the hurdles and the 200 metres, that | :40:59. | :41:03.
translates into the long jump, key events for have. The high jumper | :41:03. | :41:08.
will be a warrior on the Achilles tendon. But if -- will be a worry | :41:08. | :41:13.
on the Achilles tendon. But if it responds well, it will be OK. She | :41:13. | :41:22.
is strong enough, from the javelin, a speed is well be key. We saw a | :41:22. | :41:27.
glimpse of the future, Katarina Johnson-Thomson, or she could beat | :41:27. | :41:34.
the next Jessica Ennis-Hill, and she won a Diamond League meeting. | :41:34. | :41:38.
All of the eyes on Jess, so far had to come through so strongly and not | :41:38. | :41:42.
be intimidated by everyone else's performance, but is a good time and | :41:42. | :41:47.
a good sign. I have watched her graduate through the youth and | :41:47. | :41:53.
junior ranks and wind titles in each age group. She is it someone | :41:53. | :41:57.
last championships. And Mo seems to be loving them as well, a quick | :41:57. | :42:06.
word on him? I hate to go to dinks on it... Don't!He is just | :42:06. | :42:12.
unbeatable, he has too many weapons in his armoury. We have enjoyed | :42:12. | :42:16.
every single minute of him being here today, it added the stardust | :42:16. | :42:20.
to the whole Anniversary Games. It has been a fantastic but days. | :42:20. | :42:26. |
