Hello and welcome from the heart of Manchester City centre where I am

:00:48.:00:51.

reliably informed it gets lively on a Friday evening. It seems that some

:00:52.:00:55.

of the world's best athletes have heard about that, as well. They want

:00:56.:01:00.

a piece of the action. So the Great CityGames has been brought forward a

:01:01.:01:03.

day. Saturday afternoons, thanks for the memories.

:01:04.:01:16.

You get so close to the crowd. You get everybody behind you.

:01:17.:01:24.

# Big lights shining bright # A great crowd is supporting us, it

:01:25.:01:26.

was a great race. It was such a nice feeling to be be

:01:27.:01:34.

lining up for a race again. # All the boys and girls got it

:01:35.:01:44.

going It was an amazing atmosphere. I had

:01:45.:01:57.

a great time. That is incredibly fast, unbelievable!

:01:58.:02:04.

Some great images down through the years. Sometimes the sun shoned and

:02:05.:02:09.

sometimes it rained. It did when Usain Bolt ran, he was stunning. He

:02:10.:02:13.

runs tonight making his European season debut. Maybe we will have

:02:14.:02:18.

news of that later on. In his absence the star name is home grown,

:02:19.:02:24.

he is down in Albert Square for the men's long jump. I don't need to

:02:25.:02:30.

tell you it's none other than the reigning world Commonwealth and

:02:31.:02:32.

Olympic champion Greg Rutherford. Just getting ready to take part in

:02:33.:02:36.

this men's long jump and he is speaking to Phil Jones.

:02:37.:02:42.

It's a big welcome back to Greg Rutherford and to Manchester where

:02:43.:02:46.

you have had success before and looking for more tonight. It's one

:02:47.:02:49.

of my favourite competitions of the year and the first one generally in

:02:50.:02:53.

Europe after a stint in America. Hopefully will have a good one. Been

:02:54.:02:58.

back a few days, feeling good. Is it fair to say you have had a good

:02:59.:03:01.

start to the year? I hate talking about it, as well. It's been that

:03:02.:03:06.

good for me. First jump of the summer was 8. 30. An Olympic

:03:07.:03:11.

qualifier. Two competitions later I jumped 36 and 24 again. I never

:03:12.:03:15.

opened a season like that. Hopefully I can maintain it. How much pressure

:03:16.:03:20.

is there this year, how much are you to enjoy being defending Olympic

:03:21.:03:23.

champion? You have the Grand Slam, the set already. Yeah, there is

:03:24.:03:26.

definitely pressure, obviously. A lot of people will see me as a

:03:27.:03:29.

favourite going into it. But I put so much pressure on myself all the

:03:30.:03:32.

time. I go out there expecting to win. And expecting to do well. We

:03:33.:03:36.

train incredibly well in order to do that. So, that's what I will be

:03:37.:03:40.

aiming to do, get to Rio and do it again. It's always great to see you

:03:41.:03:44.

here in Manchester. All the best. Thank you, I appreciate that. There

:03:45.:03:53.

will be lots from Albert Square. Here in deansgate we are getting

:03:54.:03:57.

ready to race. I am further down the track and getting ready to introduce

:03:58.:04:02.

you to four of the biggest stars in action on this specially constructed

:04:03.:04:06.

track. European champion Tiffany porter takes her marks against the

:04:07.:04:11.

best of British in the 100 metres hurdles.

:04:12.:04:17.

Indoor specialist and former world champion Richard Kilty kicks off his

:04:18.:04:23.

domestic season over 100 metres. APPLAUSE AND

:04:24.:04:27.

CHEERING The main competition there is the

:04:28.:04:33.

current world indoor champion from America, Trayvon Brommell.

:04:34.:04:34.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:04:35.:04:41.

And Queen of the track will be Dutch superstar Dafne Schippers, the

:04:42.:04:45.

world's 200 metre champion going over 100 metres this evening.

:04:46.:04:46.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:04:47.:04:54.

Yeah, four superstars in action. Let's look at the timetable. My

:04:55.:04:58.

advice is to sit on the sofa for the next hour-and-a-half and take it all

:04:59.:05:01.

in. So much to look forward to. It finishes off with two 100 metres

:05:02.:05:02.

races. I am delighted to say alongside me a

:05:03.:05:17.

special guest, Perri Shakes Drayton. Not easy to say! Got there in the

:05:18.:05:21.

end. A man always here, Colin Jackson. You dashed up from Devon.

:05:22.:05:27.

Yes, I have been in Devon. Glad to see you. Perri, first of all, the

:05:28.:05:33.

last time you raced was back in 2013. Yes, everyone always wonders

:05:34.:05:38.

is she fit? Will she run and compete this year? The answer is yes. We

:05:39.:05:41.

have to look forward to the trials in Birmingham. I have been kept

:05:42.:05:48.

occupied off the track, I have been doing training with sessions and

:05:49.:05:53.

collaborating and going to London iconic areas and putting on some

:05:54.:05:56.

great boot camps and putting people through their paces. Sglt how

:05:57.:06:00.

frustrating has it been for you? You are one of our most talented

:06:01.:06:04.

athletes, Colin will nod when I say this, to not be able to ply your

:06:05.:06:07.

trade and challenge for medals in the way you would have wanted to for

:06:08.:06:13.

three years? Very frustrating. Injuries are the worst thing you can

:06:14.:06:17.

have as an athlete, I would say, to go through, especially one like

:06:18.:06:20.

myself, I have been out for a long time. But, you know, I haven't

:06:21.:06:25.

finished. I haven't fulfilled my potential and that's what has got me

:06:26.:06:29.

through the dark times that I experienced with rehab. You are only

:06:30.:06:34.

27 years young. There's a long time potentially still to go. Have you

:06:35.:06:37.

learned what it is that you need to do to keep healthy now? Yeah, you

:06:38.:06:42.

know what, now I know my body. If something doesn't feel right I know.

:06:43.:06:48.

Now I am definitely more in tune of something not feeling right, don't

:06:49.:06:52.

ignore it and get it seen to. Good to have you here. Colin, let's turn

:06:53.:06:55.

our thoughts to this evening. Great to be here on Friday evening. A

:06:56.:06:59.

different vibe. Absolutely, yeah. We talked about some stars, what are

:07:00.:07:05.

you looking forward to? I am looking forward to seeingtive yny Porter --

:07:06.:07:11.

to seeing Tiffany Porter run. For me I am looking to see her come here

:07:12.:07:15.

and be very competitive. She's always one of my favourites. Nearly

:07:16.:07:20.

a medal at all the major championships so looking forward to

:07:21.:07:23.

see her start here and run well. If we go back a year, we are talking

:07:24.:07:31.

about Dafne Schippers going to do the heptathlon and now she's a fully

:07:32.:07:35.

fledged sprinter. She's focussing on the sprints which is great. She's

:07:36.:07:40.

gone under already 11 seconds, run swiftly. 200 is where we think she's

:07:41.:07:46.

favoured. It's great to see her here. The 200, I know, you are

:07:47.:07:54.

looking forward to seeing somebody. To seeing a young prospect. It will

:07:55.:07:58.

be great experience to see how she can perform with a crowd like this.

:07:59.:08:04.

It's not the end of the world, it's to experience that. 9. 98 for

:08:05.:08:13.

Bolton. That's not a bad start. The European Tour has been OK. Last year

:08:14.:08:19.

he did not start quickly. He was still running the ten mark. Anybody

:08:20.:08:23.

under ten seconds for Usain Bolt makes everybody nervous. Let's go to

:08:24.:08:30.

the first, the women's 200 metres and it's good evening to Steve Cram

:08:31.:08:34.

and Andrew Cotter. Good evening everybody. Welcome to

:08:35.:08:38.

Deansgate in Manchester for this 200 metres. Our first event on the

:08:39.:08:47.

track. Some of the best young talent from

:08:48.:08:51.

Great Britain on display. A great event to get us under way. A full

:08:52.:08:55.

length of the track. They're at the top end, we are about 40 metres down

:08:56.:08:57.

the There are the four athletes. Jody

:08:58.:09:05.

Leslie, 23. Last weekend she was winning the Kent championships.

:09:06.:09:08.

Looks a little nervous. First time in a race of this sort of stature on

:09:09.:09:13.

TV, as well. She won the 200 and 400 incidentally. Talking of the 400,

:09:14.:09:28.

Laviai Nielsen. The 400 is her best event as it is for Emily Diamond.

:09:29.:09:32.

Emily part of our strong relay squad that we are building for the 4x4.

:09:33.:09:37.

She will be hoping that as the season progresses she could be part

:09:38.:09:42.

of that squad. Laura Muller of Germany, another youngster, just 20.

:09:43.:09:45.

Fourth at the world junior championships a couple of years ago.

:09:46.:09:49.

Of course these athletes normally used to running the 200 metres on a

:09:50.:09:55.

bend around a track. This is a little different.

:09:56.:10:02.

Nielsen, in particular, will be one to watch. Had a good indoor season.

:10:03.:10:08.

The European junior champion at 400 metres last year, won that title in

:10:09.:10:15.

Sweden. She will start as the favourite

:10:16.:10:18.

here. The women's 2200. -- 200.

:10:19.:10:26.

Nielsen and Muller close toast the camera. Muller trying to forge

:10:27.:10:33.

ahead. It's very close. Nielsen holding her form well. Very close.

:10:34.:10:37.

About 50 meeters to go. Muller beginning to pull ahead. Diamond

:10:38.:10:40.

coming through. Nielsen fades a little. Muller gets it. Very close

:10:41.:10:46.

on the line for second spot. Well, the German wasn't quickest

:10:47.:10:51.

away, and for much of that race there was nothing to choose between

:10:52.:10:55.

her and Nielsen. It was just the last 30 or 40 metres and Nielsen

:10:56.:10:59.

started to fade a little. The German forged ahead. I think Nielsen will

:11:00.:11:02.

be disappointed with that. She started the season well over 400

:11:03.:11:07.

metres and really over 200 you expect the 400 metre runner to

:11:08.:11:11.

maintain a little bit better but it was Muller who came through. We have

:11:12.:11:15.

seen it often on this track when it's a long straight it seems longer

:11:16.:11:20.

for some sprinters, even with that strength and endurance from 400.

:11:21.:11:23.

They all started to tie up a little bit, reaching for the line, in

:11:24.:11:28.

particular, Nielsen. It was a close race. A strong breeze behind, as

:11:29.:11:31.

well. We have seen that in a couple of races so far. We are hoping to

:11:32.:11:35.

that to dip below the legal limit for the later races. Muller with

:11:36.:11:38.

that strength and again holding her form slightly better. Nielsen did

:11:39.:11:44.

look as if in the latter stages she will come through strongly but began

:11:45.:11:47.

to fade. A good race to get us going.

:11:48.:11:54.

Yeah, a strong breeze, as Andrew was saying. We are hoping the rain will

:11:55.:12:01.

stay away. The winning time, there you can see.

:12:02.:12:04.

It's a little bit of a wind tunnel down here.

:12:05.:12:16.

Laviai Nielsen is with Phil now. What a fine performance it was. It's

:12:17.:12:24.

good to see this new wave of British athletes coming through, especially

:12:25.:12:26.

on the women's side of sprinting. You want to be a part of it. You

:12:27.:12:30.

have shown what you can do tonight. It's really exciting. We have so

:12:31.:12:36.

many good young and up and coming athletes with the likes of Dina and

:12:37.:12:40.

other athletes. It's good to see. How much has it inspired you? It's

:12:41.:12:46.

amazing. Two years ago, we go to the same university, it's nice to see

:12:47.:12:49.

that. We shared the same experiences. It's amazing. An

:12:50.:12:53.

Olympic year, what's the big aim for you? Hopefully to make the Rio team.

:12:54.:12:59.

I was privileged last year to go to Beijing and witness that. Up and

:13:00.:13:03.

amongst it this year. You had a big taste of the last Olympics in

:13:04.:13:08.

London. You were the kit carrier for Jessica, no less. What was it like?

:13:09.:13:14.

It was amazing. I was thinking imagine if that was me. Four years

:13:15.:13:18.

on and I am aim fog are the Olympics and back -- aiming for the Olympics

:13:19.:13:22.

and back then I was an ordinary athlete. You are not ordinary. We

:13:23.:13:27.

wish you well. All the best. Thank you so much.

:13:28.:13:30.

First round for Greg Rutherford, first jump. This is the other

:13:31.:13:34.

direction over in Albert Square heading into the wind. Don't think

:13:35.:13:40.

we will see big numbers here. Greg has started his season well. 8. 30

:13:41.:13:45.

in California last month. Let's see how he opens here. The

:13:46.:13:48.

first of four jumps. Sizeable crowd over in Albert

:13:49.:14:04.

Square. He doesn't look too happy. About seven-and-a-half metres or so.

:14:05.:14:08.

. A little bit to spare on the rounds

:14:09.:14:17.

to come. Rutherford the first to jump in the long jump.

:14:18.:14:27.

He waits and we wait. It is 7. 56. He will be looking for further in

:14:28.:14:30.

those three rounds to come. A solid enough start.

:14:31.:14:42.

Ignisious Gaisah, he's the third man to leap here. Norris Frederick of

:14:43.:14:50.

the United States has opened with a foul. Gaisah won world silver in

:14:51.:14:57.

2005. Three years ago, for his adopted country, the Netherlands -

:14:58.:15:03.

kicking his way through the air. The wind reading is consistent. It's

:15:04.:15:09.

exactly the same measurement as that for Greg Rutherford, 1. 1 against.

:15:10.:15:18.

Right on the board. I don't think it's quite as far as Rutherford,

:15:19.:15:24.

pretty close. Indeed Ignisious Gaisah 7. 41, second place in the

:15:25.:15:29.

early stages of the long jump

:15:30.:15:36.

Next up on track is the rarely run 200 mered hurdles. We're looking

:15:37.:15:42.

down the track and it stretches for miles. You did this in 2013, what's

:15:43.:15:50.

it like? Exciting. Different to any other race that I've done. It's the

:15:51.:15:54.

buzz. You know, you've got the crowd. There I remember a few family

:15:55.:15:58.

members were in the crowd. That gave me an extra boost. I was thinking,

:15:59.:16:02.

where is the finish line? It's just long. That's the thing, 100 metres

:16:03.:16:08.

on the straight, suddenly you have double that. Psychologically that

:16:09.:16:13.

must be tough. Definitely. When the gun went, I was like go for it,

:16:14.:16:17.

don't slow down. The momentum took me. Next thing I knew, OK, at the

:16:18.:16:22.

finish line. Were you wrecked at the end? Proper. It's the men's hurdles

:16:23.:16:27.

this time. I'm going to speak to Mr Jackson. I think you'd have been

:16:28.:16:31.

good at the 200m hurdles. As we can see from the different hurdle

:16:32.:16:35.

heights, it's a different event. It is very much different. These are

:16:36.:16:39.

the senior heights for the men's 110 m hurdles. These 200 metre hurdles

:16:40.:16:45.

are the same height as the women's 400m race. It's about a foot, 30

:16:46.:16:50.

centimetres. The key thing is you have to explode out of the blocks

:16:51.:16:54.

and treat this race like a sprint race, like a sprint hurdle race.

:16:55.:16:59.

You've got to clear these barriers quickly because they're lower. That

:17:00.:17:02.

causes a little bit of problem with athletes. Then they get close to the

:17:03.:17:06.

next barrier. They've got to focus, switch on. Sometimes when it's a

:17:07.:17:10.

little bit smaller you take things for granted. That could be

:17:11.:17:13.

dangerous. Especially at the back end of the race when you're

:17:14.:17:17.

fatigued. It's mostly high hurdlers that do this, rather than the high

:17:18.:17:21.

hurdlers, not that it's run very often. Who does it suit? You know,

:17:22.:17:29.

what I'd favour the sprint hurdlers. You have the ability actually to be

:17:30.:17:33.

swift over the barriers. I think I'd favour the high hurdlers over 400

:17:34.:17:39.

hurdlers. Can you remember a time when you jumped over that height?

:17:40.:17:44.

Yeah, I was very young! The distance from the start line to the first

:17:45.:17:48.

hurdle is one centimetre further than the triple jump world record.

:17:49.:17:53.

How about that Andrew Cotter? The old hop, skip and a jump. What a

:17:54.:17:57.

grand, old event. It would be interesting to see a contest between

:17:58.:18:00.

400 hurdlers and 110 hurdlers. These are all 400 hurdlers. There is

:18:01.:18:12.

Pretorius. Good to see Jack Green back and

:18:13.:18:34.

running, former European under 23 champion. All sorts of injury

:18:35.:18:39.

problems and beyond that, he's now self-coached, based in Kent. Showing

:18:40.:18:46.

some good times, suited to his big talent. There's Sebastian Rodger.

:18:47.:18:52.

He's had a good indoor season over 400m, and a PB in Vienna.

:18:53.:19:02.

That's Jacob Paul. Times to look out for, because it's a rarely-run

:19:03.:19:13.

event. Colin Jackson has run one of those. Andy turner 22. 10, when it

:19:14.:19:16.

was run on the straight here. Constant Pretorius goes in one, then

:19:17.:19:34.

Jack Green, Sebastian Rodger and Jacob Paul. Long straight, the men's

:19:35.:19:45.

200m hurdles. Cleanly away. Pretorius has gone

:19:46.:19:50.

already. Then there were three. Feeling his hamstring a bit there.

:19:51.:19:53.

Rodger leads them at the moment just ahead of Jacob Paul. These two

:19:54.:19:57.

coming away from Tamsin Greenway, being left -- Jack Green, being left

:19:58.:20:01.

at the moment. Rodger looking strong. Sebastian Rodger, Paula

:20:02.:20:04.

Seling OVI trying to hang with him. He's failing a bit. Good

:20:05.:20:17.

victory for Rodger ahead of Paul. Sebastian Rodger judge today best of

:20:18.:20:30.

all and -- Sebastian Rodger judged it best of all. Shame to see

:20:31.:20:38.

Pretorius go in the early stages, Colin. You're right. You want to see

:20:39.:20:42.

all the athletes finish this race. You have got to generate a lot of

:20:43.:20:47.

speed in between. Because the hurdles are shorter, you can get

:20:48.:20:50.

complacent and think you can just flick yourself over. It you still

:20:51.:20:54.

have to work off every barrier. When the fatigue fits in, right at the

:20:55.:20:58.

back end of the race, you've got to think about your technique and

:20:59.:21:01.

holding it all together. Pretorius wasn't there from the start. He was

:21:02.:21:06.

told to go out hard from the start. Tried, but it wasn't there at all.

:21:07.:21:11.

Unfortunately, he'll be frustrated about that. You've got to be sharp

:21:12.:21:15.

and swift. Try to keep control. Not to go down to the hurdles. There's a

:21:16.:21:20.

tendency because they'reler, you lower your centre of gravity. You

:21:21.:21:26.

don't want that. Stay nice and tall. Keep your poise like you're

:21:27.:21:28.

sprinting. That makes the difference. Good run. Nice wind

:21:29.:21:33.

behind them as well. Look forward to seeing what Sebastian Rodger can

:21:34.:21:38.

manage over 400 hurdles later in the season. He has the victory here in a

:21:39.:21:40.

personal best. There's no question that Sebastian

:21:41.:21:55.

Rodger enjoyed that race. When you see just how far it is, 200m on a

:21:56.:22:03.

straight, how do you gauge the race? To be honest, I think because I'm a

:22:04.:22:07.

400 metre hurdler, this is quite short. A bit of training and it's

:22:08.:22:11.

OK. You just went for it? Just went for it, flat out. That's what you've

:22:12.:22:15.

got to do. I know you like wearing your GB colours. You've represented

:22:16.:22:20.

Britain proudly in the past. You want to this year in the Olympics

:22:21.:22:23.

year. How are you looking at the year ahead? It's going great.

:22:24.:22:29.

Everything is going to plan for Rio. Do you feel an added excitement in

:22:30.:22:34.

the air because of the Olympic year? Always exciting. After a race like,

:22:35.:22:38.

that it bodes well for the rest of the year. We wish you well. Thank

:22:39.:22:44.

you. Greg Rutherford's second attempt

:22:45.:22:49.

here in the long jump. Always a solid, if unspectacular opening leap

:22:50.:22:52.

from Rutherford. Leading after the first round. First to go in the

:22:53.:22:58.

second again. Just a bit of a breeze against the long jumpers.

:22:59.:23:08.

Hits it at some pace. The applause of the crowd. He looks more pleased

:23:09.:23:17.

with that one. Had a bit of room on the board in his first leap. He made

:23:18.:23:23.

a little bit better this afternoon there. Still some room for

:23:24.:23:27.

improvement. That did look further than 7. 56. Getting out close to

:23:28.:23:32.

eight metres. Looking strong in the early season

:23:33.:23:46.

already. The measurement is 7. 92. A good jump. That extends his lead.

:23:47.:23:51.

Two more to go. Greg Rutherford in very good shape over in Albert

:23:52.:23:58.

Square. Powerful looking figure this season.

:23:59.:24:03.

Seems to have bulked up. This is a man who could challenge him. A foul

:24:04.:24:07.

in the first round, Norris Frederick. Has gone beyond eight

:24:08.:24:16.

metres, but a few years ago now. 7. 79 early this season. Looking for

:24:17.:24:22.

some Albert Square noise. EastEnders style.

:24:23.:24:35.

At least it's a clean jump. White flag for Fredrik. Looks close to 7.

:24:36.:24:43.

5 metres. Good crowd over there in Albert Square. The star quality of

:24:44.:24:48.

Greg Rutherford has attracted a good few spectators. Good on the board.

:24:49.:24:53.

At least he has something up there to build upon. 7. 41, second place

:24:54.:25:07.

at the moment. That was for Ignisious Gaisah. Frederick moves

:25:08.:25:12.

into second place, some way behind Greg Rutherford.

:25:13.:25:20.

Earlier this afternoon, women's pole vault was keeping the crowd very

:25:21.:25:25.

interested. Katie Nageotte who's been on the Diamond League circuit

:25:26.:25:29.

already this year. An event which certainly the Americans doing so

:25:30.:25:33.

well at. She'll have a tough task to get into the American Olympic team,

:25:34.:25:37.

but started very well. Certainly was the favourite to win here today.

:25:38.:25:47.

This is Anicka Newell of Canada. She went clear at 4. 23. Blustery

:25:48.:25:52.

conditions, never easy for the pole vaulters as well, particularly in

:25:53.:25:58.

this type of setting. Sally Peake trying to follow them. Second

:25:59.:26:04.

attempt at the same height and she rattled it heavily. Looks up

:26:05.:26:08.

anxiously, but she hung on. They were all clear at 4. 33.

:26:09.:26:15.

As we've seen with the wind reading so far, quite a strong breeze coming

:26:16.:26:20.

down the track. There's a few clouds overhead. Hopefully the rain will

:26:21.:26:24.

hold off. The next race is the 150 metres. First back to a couple of

:26:25.:26:29.

races that took place earlier. Great school-age races and Andrew Cotter

:26:30.:26:35.

has the story. Away they go in the girls race. Joy

:26:36.:26:41.

Eze look at her go. She's flying already. A long, long way clear.

:26:42.:26:46.

Great style as well. A big, big victory, quick time as well. Legal

:26:47.:26:53.

wind, big personal best. This may not be the last we hear of Joy Eze,

:26:54.:26:57.

what a talent she is and what a victory here.

:26:58.:27:01.

Very quick time. The only one to use the blocks. Great style. That time

:27:02.:27:07.

was rounded down. The 11-year-old half a second clear

:27:08.:27:19.

of her nearest rivals, wonderful victory.

:27:20.:27:26.

Good start by Daniel McLennan in the boys -- Daniel Lennie. Lennie trying

:27:27.:27:39.

to get back. It's victory for Ishaq Patterson. The wind stronger than

:27:40.:27:45.

for the girls. 12. 64 a very quick time, beyond the legal limit though.

:27:46.:27:52.

Can you see the power that he has. Ishaq Patterson wins the boys' 100

:27:53.:27:54.

metres. Next event on the track is the men's

:27:55.:28:29.

150 m race. Big talent from South Africa, Clarence Munyai and Ojie

:28:30.:28:36.

Edoburun another British talent. An odd distance really, not raced

:28:37.:28:40.

all that much, particularly in a straight away such as this. Jaysuma

:28:41.:28:46.

Saidy Ndure of Norway 32 years of age now. We keep mentioning the

:28:47.:28:50.

conditions. The wind strong behind the athletes. If it gets on the back

:28:51.:28:55.

of Harry, he'll sail away, surely. He's fifth or sixth on the British

:28:56.:29:08.

rankings this year. This young man, I think, is going to be somebody to

:29:09.:29:11.

watch, could well be at the Olympics. He's run the qualifying

:29:12.:29:17.

time for 200m, 20. 36 for trick. He -- for South Africa. He says he's

:29:18.:29:20.

aiming for the world junior championships. One of our top

:29:21.:29:26.

juniors, the European junior champion at year Ojie Edoburun. 150

:29:27.:29:35.

metres, this wind, as we said earlier on about three, even four

:29:36.:29:41.

metres per second. That will give them the opportunity

:29:42.:29:42.

to run very, very quick. It's so unusual, we keep making this

:29:43.:29:53.

point, to race this sort of distance in a straight away. They look down

:29:54.:29:57.

the track. It seems such a long way away, but it isn't.

:29:58.:30:08.

Two great juniors closest to the camera.

:30:09.:30:22.

Well, that looked - might have been a false start. We will have to wait

:30:23.:30:27.

for the starters to make their mind up about that. Of course, it's

:30:28.:30:31.

difficult with the crowd very close to the track, etc.

:30:32.:30:35.

That will be up to the starters' diskrepgs. It looked like a false

:30:36.:30:42.

start -- diskrepgs. -- discretion. Still got to get used

:30:43.:30:50.

to a big stage racing perhaps, I think that was nearly Munyai. No

:30:51.:30:54.

false start rule here so they get to go again.

:30:55.:31:02.

Looks as though that may be a generous decision by the starter.

:31:03.:31:06.

Just to mention how well he has been going this year, he has been running

:31:07.:31:10.

youth races and junior races and won the South African senior

:31:11.:31:14.

championships at 200 metres and they've great talent at the moment.

:31:15.:31:19.

He could go to the Olympics. World juniors this year is his main

:31:20.:31:25.

target. If he gets selected for Rio we may see him there.

:31:26.:31:32.

Clarence Munyai in lane three a little fortunate.

:31:33.:31:42.

Cleanly away this time. Close toast the camera Edoburun gets the best

:31:43.:31:52.

start. Munyai is struggling to stay with these three. Aikines Aryeetey

:31:53.:32:02.

wins it. The wind, a howling gale, with his back it's like putting a

:32:03.:32:10.

sail up, isn't it? Carried down the track, Harry Aikines Aryeetey. He

:32:11.:32:12.

will be delighted with that. It's going to be a tough year in

:32:13.:32:16.

sprinting in Great Britain. So much talent around at the moment. It's

:32:17.:32:18.

going to be difficult. The qualifying time won't be good

:32:19.:32:22.

enough. There are going to be so many men getting the qualifying

:32:23.:32:27.

time. Wins like this, yes, it's 15. 1, it's quick and it's a windy day

:32:28.:32:31.

today, but the win is important. It certainly is. For his confidence, a

:32:32.:32:35.

man who has had problems with injuries. He gets bigger every

:32:36.:32:40.

winter and comes back an enormous figure! Great power. He kept his

:32:41.:32:50.

shape pretty well. Veering to the outside of his lane but he had the

:32:51.:32:55.

victory. A good run. You talk about talent coming through. A lot of

:32:56.:32:58.

people might have seen Mitchell Blake running great times in the 200

:32:59.:33:02.

metres, a name that won't be too well known to others but he is a

:33:03.:33:15.

great talent, as well. Good to see Aikines Aryeetey.

:33:16.:33:23.

It's not a bad time for 150. Harry is delighted the crowd with

:33:24.:33:32.

that victory. You are a popular lad in these parts and across the UK, in

:33:33.:33:36.

fact. I have talked to a few athletes already about what a big

:33:37.:33:41.

year it is, the Olympics year. For men's sprinting this year it's such

:33:42.:33:45.

a stellar event t will be tough to make the team. You are right there,

:33:46.:33:49.

man! I lose some sleep over it to be honest. It's one of those things you

:33:50.:33:53.

look forward to. It's exciting, that's what we want. We want a lot

:33:54.:33:58.

of British sprinters stepping up on the stage. The list goes on. It's

:33:59.:34:03.

what you want. It's boding well, not only individually but for the relay.

:34:04.:34:09.

If you guys can get it right we are in with a medal hope. We have had

:34:10.:34:13.

some success and we are a new team. Young blood. We are hungry. What has

:34:14.:34:17.

the reception been like generally here in Manchester tonight?

:34:18.:34:22.

Absolutely love it. I mean, 1501 a bit far for me and they got -- 150

:34:23.:34:27.

is a bit far for me, they got me through it. It's what we knead to

:34:28.:34:32.

do, bring the sport to the people. -- it's what we need to do, bring

:34:33.:34:36.

the sport to the people. This is where it starts. Thank you everyone,

:34:37.:34:44.

bye. Yes, a great atmosphere and a great

:34:45.:34:49.

run from Harry. As he said, it's long for him but that bodes well

:34:50.:34:52.

that he has that strength. Yeah, that's going to give him great

:34:53.:34:56.

confidence. Harry is 100 metre runner but he is showing strength in

:34:57.:35:01.

that 150 and I saw him tiring but he got through it. He has big muscles

:35:02.:35:07.

but he got through it. I am sure he is happy with that performance. Ojie

:35:08.:35:19.

in second. Gone under 20 seconds for the 200 metre mark. For the British

:35:20.:35:22.

boys it's a good tick they've achieved today. It's the most

:35:23.:35:25.

important thing because it's the beginning of the season remember.

:35:26.:35:29.

Everybody is at different stages in preparations but they'll all be

:35:30.:35:32.

heading for our trials because they know when push comes to shove that's

:35:33.:35:36.

where it will Matambanadzoer. Harry -- that's where it will matter.

:35:37.:35:42.

Harry talked about the competition. Let's mention this young lad,

:35:43.:35:52.

Nathan... From LSU. Run 19. 95. It's great for the British sprint squad.

:35:53.:35:56.

Everybody is showing this hunger. Everybody stepped up. Everyone has

:35:57.:36:00.

put out fast times. Some people over the States, some of the athletes

:36:01.:36:04.

were in the States and put down some times. It's exciting and we need

:36:05.:36:09.

that excitement and buzz for British sprinters. And Adam Gemile, as well.

:36:10.:36:15.

The list can go on. It's a great list to have. We are most probably,

:36:16.:36:19.

outside the United States and Jamaica, the strongest sprinting

:36:20.:36:23.

team in the world. I think when you are fighting for places surely there

:36:24.:36:28.

has to be favourites for us when it comes to the Olympics. We are

:36:29.:36:32.

watching, it's great to be watching these youngsters battle for places.

:36:33.:36:36.

We have seen great racing so far and plenty more to come over the next 50

:36:37.:36:41.

minutes or so. Tiffany Porter goes in the hurdles against the best of

:36:42.:36:48.

the rest in Britain. Sglp

:36:49.:36:51.

Dafne Schippers will be in action and Trayvon Bromell, let's see how

:36:52.:36:56.

he can go over 100 metres. Newel, her third and final attempt.

:36:57.:37:22.

Not to be. Sally Peake, her final attempt. A silver medallist at the

:37:23.:37:26.

Commonwealth Games. Sally Peake can't challenge either.

:37:27.:37:42.

She takes the applause of the crowd. Here is Katie Nageotte.

:37:43.:37:46.

No failures at all so far. A clean event.

:37:47.:37:51.

To win it at 4. 4.50 of the first attempt.

:37:52.:37:58.

Didn't graze the bar. So victory in the pole vault for Katie Nageotte of

:37:59.:38:07.

the United States. She went on to try a championship

:38:08.:38:12.

record of 4. 70 but failed there and took the victory with 4. 50.

:38:13.:38:20.

Tiffany Porter delivers medals time and again for Great Britain. You did

:38:21.:38:26.

it again this year in Portland. Congratulations on the medal there.

:38:27.:38:29.

Obviously, an Olympic year we are expecting more big things of you.

:38:30.:38:32.

What's it like when you have that constant expectation and you manage

:38:33.:38:37.

to live up to it? I think experience is a best teacher and I feel pleased

:38:38.:38:40.

to have these opportunities. Hopefully I can continue to progress

:38:41.:38:44.

this season and put on a good show when it matters the most. When you

:38:45.:38:48.

come to a huge year like this and you put together that form that we

:38:49.:38:53.

saw in Portland what kind of confidence does it give you going

:38:54.:38:58.

forward? Getting medals and performing at championships is a

:38:59.:39:02.

huge confidence boaster, that's the ultimate, that's what we work hard

:39:03.:39:08.

for. -- booster. I am hoping to replicate that in the future. As for

:39:09.:39:14.

tonight you pretty much own this event and what's it like with the

:39:15.:39:17.

crowd close to you? I love the street races, the energy you guys

:39:18.:39:20.

bring, we can feel it and it helps us to do our best. Thank you so much

:39:21.:39:25.

for coming out guys. Thank you. You are going to race

:39:26.:39:29.

very soon. We look forward to seeing you. Thanks so much, Phil.

:39:30.:39:39.

That's how we line up for the men's 100 metres, the T44 men's class.

:39:40.:39:53.

This is the event where we have seen showdowns with Richard Brown and

:39:54.:40:05.

Johnny Peacock in the past. Richard Brown is still coming back after a

:40:06.:40:09.

car injury and Johnny has an injury. There is Peterson of the USA.

:40:10.:40:22.

There is Jarryd Wallace. Helps runs with a cap, says it keeps the sweat

:40:23.:40:45.

out of his eyes. Felix Streng. And Michail Seitis of Greece.

:40:46.:40:55.

A 400 metre runner, was involved in a car accident three years ago

:40:56.:40:59.

resulting in an amputation and here he is competing in the men's 244100

:41:00.:41:11.

metres. -- men's T44100 metres. Wallace in lane two is the man to

:41:12.:41:17.

beat here. Streng might be able to get close to

:41:18.:41:19.

him, the German in lane three. Cleanly away. Wallace quickly

:41:20.:41:44.

running but so too Streng. Wallace will take the victory. The wind had

:41:45.:41:47.

dropped a little bit, just over the legal limit. Wallace takes the

:41:48.:41:53.

victory. Inside 11 seconds. He will certainly be a threat, a contender

:41:54.:41:59.

for the gold medal in Rio later this year. If Johnny gets back to full

:42:00.:42:11.

strength, look out. A good challenge from Felix Streng. He was better

:42:12.:42:17.

away out of the blocks. The hunger for Wallace just about gets him

:42:18.:42:20.

there. On paper he was the quickest. It was a good run from Streng. The

:42:21.:42:27.

last race was into a headwind. It would have been nice to have the

:42:28.:42:33.

breeze on his back. Quick times. Wallace dipping under 11 seconds. It

:42:34.:42:37.

show what is a good performance that was. Probably will want to tidy up

:42:38.:42:42.

the start, apart from that it was good. We look forward to see Johnny

:42:43.:42:47.

Peacock back competing. Jarryd, you are keeping it going.

:42:48.:43:08.

You couldn't have timed it better better

:43:09.:43:13.

We love running here. What do you take out of a race like tonight when

:43:14.:43:20.

you are up against someone like Streng? It's awesome. Dropped

:43:21.:43:25.

underneath 11. Unbelievable competitor. Strong athlete. It's

:43:26.:43:29.

going to be a great year, shaping up to be a good one. We wsh you well

:43:30.:43:38.

for Rio. Well done. Thank you. Victory for Jarryd Wallace.

:43:39.:43:44.

The 100 is where his future lies, I think. He will be a strong contender

:43:45.:43:49.

in Rio. A good victory here for Wallace.

:43:50.:43:58.

A great race there. Colin, perhaps Wallace would be

:43:59.:44:01.

surprised at how close the German was to him. I would have thought so.

:44:02.:44:07.

He has already run strong and powerfully this year. It's important

:44:08.:44:11.

to nail a good start and get in the lead, that puts pressure on people

:44:12.:44:17.

from the get-go. When you think of what Johnny Peacock can do, he

:44:18.:44:21.

hammers out of the block. With we are hoping at Rio and the

:44:22.:44:27.

Paralympics that Johnny can do something special again. Johnny

:44:28.:44:29.

selected for the European Championships coming up. You know

:44:30.:44:34.

Johnny a little bit. Such a fierce competitor. Also you remember back

:44:35.:44:38.

to London in 2012, such maturity, as well. Yeah, you know, a lot of times

:44:39.:44:48.

I spent in Loughborough, he is a cool guy, if he is watching, I am

:44:49.:44:52.

sure he will watch when I am running against, as an athlete when we are

:44:53.:44:56.

watching and unable to race and we do see competitors out there it

:44:57.:44:59.

gives us an extra boost and we are like, when we come against each

:45:00.:45:07.

other we will watch and see! It will be a great race in Rio. Should be

:45:08.:45:14.

special. We will focus now on the men's 100 metres. This man is one of

:45:15.:45:23.

What are your first impressions? Big year, Olympic year. It started off

:45:24.:45:35.

fantastically for new Portland, tell me about that, the world indoors.

:45:36.:45:39.

Going into the season, like me and my coach, we already had it in mind

:45:40.:45:49.

that I could take the win. Once the bell went off, I knew I'd won. It

:45:50.:45:52.

was a real good experience. A fantastic way for you to build on

:45:53.:45:56.

what you'd achieved in Beijing last year, getting the bronze medal

:45:57.:45:59.

there. I just wanted to make the team and show people I'm ready to

:46:00.:46:04.

run with the big guys. I was blessed to come out with maidal. What's it

:46:05.:46:09.

-- with a medal. What's it like competing with the likes of Usain

:46:10.:46:15.

Bolt and Gatlin at just 20? It's like a kid wanting to be a superhero

:46:16.:46:22.

with Superman. I try to stay motivated because years

:46:23.:46:24.

down-the-line, get older, maybe I can be faster than what I am now.

:46:25.:46:28.

The sky's the limit. You just go out there and compete against these guys

:46:29.:46:34.

and gain their reinspect on the track, it's a cool experience. Is

:46:35.:46:38.

this different being an Olympic year? You don't want to put too much

:46:39.:46:44.

emphasis on a certain event. It is a bit meet. But you don't want to go

:46:45.:46:48.

into the race thinking like, if I don't do good, this is going to kill

:46:49.:46:51.

me, because you never know what could happen the next day. It's

:46:52.:46:54.

another opportunity to try to be great. What do you think how crucial

:46:55.:47:01.

the spectators will be here, so close to you? It's cool. I used to

:47:02.:47:08.

think, it would be cool to lay a track down in the street and run a

:47:09.:47:16.

race. It will be thrilling. I want to perform for the crowd. I have a

:47:17.:47:21.

lot of love here in the UK. Friday evening working very well here on

:47:22.:47:25.

Deans gait, a great crowd, great atmosphere. The breeze is blowing

:47:26.:47:29.

through a little bit. That 100 metres is going to be about half an

:47:30.:47:34.

hour. Trayvon Bromell one of the real stars of track and field

:47:35.:47:37.

athletics. Manchester very much in focus this weekend as far as sport

:47:38.:47:40.

is concerned. We're here tonight. We have the FA Cup tomorrow with

:47:41.:47:44.

Manchester United against Crystal Palace. Then this is coming up on

:47:45.:47:45.

Sunday: Mentally I find that running helps

:47:46.:48:01.

me maintain a positive outlook on life, helping with the psychological

:48:02.:48:04.

side of this disease, because it can be quite debilitating. I always feel

:48:05.:48:09.

that anything is possible when I go out for a run. When I do my races,

:48:10.:48:13.

it's the little achievements that count for me.

:48:14.:48:21.

I just went to the gym one day and realised you know, I'm enjoying.

:48:22.:48:28.

This I started to see progress. I saw the weight dropping off. My Jane

:48:29.:48:33.

size was going lower, my T-shirt size was dropping off. All of a

:48:34.:48:36.

sudden, I'm eight-and-a-half stone lighter. Running's helped me

:48:37.:48:40.

mentally through tough times, when the world's been on my shoulders.

:48:41.:48:45.

Over the last few years, I've gone through depression and stress and

:48:46.:48:51.

anxiety. If I didn't have running, I don't think I'd be here today. The

:48:52.:48:58.

best advice I can give really is if you're out there running, however

:48:59.:49:01.

slow it is, however fast it is, you're running faster than a person

:49:02.:49:05.

sat on the couch. Get your shoes on, get out there and run.

:49:06.:49:18.

Yes, so many great stories, the Great Manchester Run: we'll bring as

:49:19.:49:29.

many of them to you as we possibly can and the elite races. Monday on

:49:30.:49:36.

BBC Two: we have extensive highlights. OK, the next race on the

:49:37.:49:43.

track is the women's 100 metres hurdles. It features Tiffany Porter

:49:44.:49:46.

and Steve Cram is bringing you the words.

:49:47.:49:55.

Thank you Jonathan. The pictures show that Tiffany Porter in lane two

:49:56.:50:01.

there, Lucy Hatton, Serita Solomon and Isabelle Pedersen. A competitive

:50:02.:50:06.

race for Tiffany Porter. It's one which she would expect to win. Good

:50:07.:50:12.

to see Lucy Hatton contesting 100 hurdles against Porter. Of course,

:50:13.:50:18.

for Lucy, she now only has not only Tiff to contend with, but her sister

:50:19.:50:22.

as well. She's the top ranked British hurdler so far this year.

:50:23.:50:27.

The qualifying time for the Olympics is 13 seconds flat. Every

:50:28.:50:30.

opportunity will be taken. Lucy may hope the wind dies a little here.

:50:31.:50:36.

Tiffany Porter has run 12. 72 at the top Jones invitational in America.

:50:37.:50:44.

That's not unusual! Serita Solomon yet to have her outdoor season

:50:45.:50:47.

begin. This will be interesting to see what sort of shape she is in

:50:48.:50:52.

after a very good indoor season. Isabelle Pedersen of Norway has been

:50:53.:50:57.

doing very well in 400m hurdles. Former world youth champion at the

:50:58.:51:00.

shorter distances. Ran under 13 seconds last year.

:51:01.:51:07.

You saw earlier on in the interview with Phil Tiff talk about the world

:51:08.:51:14.

Indoor Championships. She wasn't running that well indoors. She did

:51:15.:51:20.

well in the final. In the end only just away from winning the Gold

:51:21.:51:21.

Medal. Lucy Hatton on the far side, Porter

:51:22.:51:35.

for the in two -- Tiffany Porter in two, Serita Solomon in three and

:51:36.:51:38.

Isabelle Pedersen closest to the camera. Tiffany Porter with an

:51:39.:51:41.

advantage. Pedersen going well. Lucy Hatton on the far side. Solomon left

:51:42.:51:45.

somewhat. Tiffany Porter stamping her authority on this, checking into

:51:46.:51:50.

the hurdles. But 12. 89, the wind slightly over the legal limit.

:51:51.:51:55.

That's a shame. That was a pretty good performance. It's getting a

:51:56.:51:59.

little chilly here in Manchester. That won't help. Tiffany Porter once

:52:00.:52:04.

again coming out on top. Just took a little while to get going. Colin's

:52:05.:52:12.

better at analysing than me, but wonder if it was as smooth as she

:52:13.:52:17.

would have liked. Looks as though the hurdles were coming on her a bit

:52:18.:52:21.

quick. One thing we look for from Tiffany is perfection. We know she's

:52:22.:52:26.

capable of that. She's aggressive over the barriers. Off one of them

:52:27.:52:30.

she kind of fell off it a bit. That disturbed her rhythm a little. You

:52:31.:52:35.

see that hurdle there, she just collapsed just a margin. That makes

:52:36.:52:39.

a huge difference to the ultimate performance. Going into these

:52:40.:52:43.

hurdles, she clipped that one, but still very aggressive. Off this

:52:44.:52:47.

barrier she just collapses a little bit, arm flal a bit. That's to get

:52:48.:52:53.

her balance again -- flail. You don't have that much time, when you

:52:54.:52:57.

make a mistake, but Tiffany is a quality athlete. She was a bit

:52:58.:53:00.

disappointed with that. But there's plenty more to come.

:53:01.:53:06.

That's what she's very good at, timing her season well. A long way

:53:07.:53:08.

to go. It's still only May. Steve Cram saying there you always

:53:09.:53:25.

manage to time your season so well, you build, knock bits off your time

:53:26.:53:29.

bit by bit and get it right when it really matters, is that how you

:53:30.:53:33.

approach a season? Absolutely. The championships are the main focus,

:53:34.:53:36.

obviously, you want to continue to work hard throughout the season.

:53:37.:53:40.

We're still in heavy training. I'm just very pleased to come away with

:53:41.:53:43.

the win today. What about the time, just over the legal limit as well in

:53:44.:53:48.

terms of wind behind you. Were you pleased with the performance? Yeah,

:53:49.:53:51.

it's always a pleasure to run in Manchester in front of everybody. I

:53:52.:53:54.

never take that for granted. I'm very grateful to be here. You've

:53:55.:53:58.

kept your winning run going here. What inspires you about the street

:53:59.:54:02.

racing? To be honest, it's the energy you feel from the crowd. You

:54:03.:54:06.

can really feel the support and it really does help.

:54:07.:54:11.

CHEERING I'm sure they delight in seeing you here year on year. Come

:54:12.:54:17.

back next year I'll be back, thanks Guy! -- thanks guys! Over to Albert

:54:18.:54:30.

Square and Greg Rutherford reddying himself once more. Improved on his

:54:31.:54:35.

second round, he's led from the first round.

:54:36.:54:42.

Can he threaten eight metres? The wind is switching round a little

:54:43.:54:49.

bit. Hits the board well again. Another tidy jump. It looks a bit

:54:50.:54:52.

further. Difficult to tell on the angle there. The crowd seem enthused

:54:53.:54:58.

by that one. He's in such good form. It augers well for Rio. Pretty much

:54:59.:55:03.

the same as round two. Little bit more to gain on the board.

:55:04.:55:20.

Round three for JJ Jegede. Foul in the second round.

:55:21.:55:37.

That's better, a white flag. All sorts of injury problems last year.

:55:38.:55:42.

He will get a good distance here, well beyond his first-round jump of

:55:43.:55:44.

seven metres. Just to confirm Greg Rutherford's

:55:45.:55:57.

last jump was 8. 03. He has gone beyond eight metres. JJ Jegede, what

:55:58.:56:01.

does he have? A season's best time of 7. 7. 43.

:56:02.:56:10.

The 100 metres is coming up later on. Two of Britain's finest

:56:11.:56:16.

alongside me in Richard Kilty and Chijindu Ujah going against Trayvon

:56:17.:56:20.

Bromell and Kim Collins later. What about that prospect? It will be a

:56:21.:56:24.

great race. Looking forward to it. It's my first main race of the

:56:25.:56:27.

season. It will be a competitive race. How have you been training,

:56:28.:56:31.

how's the winter gone? Good, I ran quick indoors 6. 50. Didn't go to

:56:32.:56:35.

the world indoors and started with a win in Florida over 200 metres.

:56:36.:56:39.

Looking forward to today. As for you, you always want to test

:56:40.:56:42.

yourself against the best and Trayvon Bromell is proving to be

:56:43.:56:46.

just that. Yeah, his record speaks for itself. It's always nice to put

:56:47.:56:54.

a show for Manchester. A big year last year, I know you want to go one

:56:55.:56:59.

step further in Rio year. You have stiff competition. Yeah, every year

:57:00.:57:03.

everyone wants to bring their A game, especially Rio. I'm definitely

:57:04.:57:06.

planning to bring mine. It's going to be a great race. We're looking

:57:07.:57:10.

forward to it. Thanks for talking to us, guys.

:57:11.:57:22.

Aturn there, focussing on that race, that fight for spots in Rio is in

:57:23.:57:30.

intense. Very intense. As an athlete let the running dot talking. Don't

:57:31.:57:34.

hype yourself up too much. The strength in the field today, we

:57:35.:57:38.

can't really expect amazing results today, because of the weather

:57:39.:57:41.

conditions, it's quite windy out here. But obviously it will be nice

:57:42.:57:45.

for a win. That's what they're looking for. They need to build

:57:46.:57:47.

confidence as well. That's important. You look towards the

:57:48.:57:52.

trials. They need to start winning, start to perhaps put a mark down

:57:53.:57:56.

against their opposition, the ones who are going to be fighting for

:57:57.:57:59.

those places. Yeah, a win is a win. It gives you that confidence. Then

:58:00.:58:03.

it gives you that judgment of where you are in your training, what you

:58:04.:58:09.

may need to improve on, maybe you peak too soon. That men's 100 metres

:58:10.:58:15.

at 7. 20pm. The hurdles are in the way, ten more metres. Steve Cram.

:58:16.:58:18.

Let's look at the start list: Just a bit of news from the European

:58:19.:58:39.

Games, Lawrence Clark 13. 57, the fastest British athlete so far in

:58:40.:58:44.

this event. The qualifying time for the Olympic Games is 13. 13.47. It

:58:45.:58:51.

will be very interesting to see whether we get three men under that

:58:52.:58:54.

time. I'm sure we will. I hope we will.

:58:55.:58:55.

Rene Mahlmann of Germany. David King twice the English under

:58:56.:59:08.

23 champion. Coached by James Hillier. Didn't run so well at the

:59:09.:59:14.

UK championships, but a personal best indoors. Always stands you in

:59:15.:59:23.

good stead for the outdoors season. Ryan Wilson. Reward in Moscow for a

:59:24.:59:27.

long, good career. 35 years of age now. Coaching now himself as well.

:59:28.:59:33.

Andreas Martinsen of Denmark in lane four.

:59:34.:59:39.

Wilson in day's gone by would start as the favourite and probably does

:59:40.:59:46.

here as well. He's running 13. 54 his best in America. His first race

:59:47.:59:55.

in Europe this year. In America, many sprinters and hurdlers get to

:59:56.:59:58.

set good times early in the season. They hope when they come to Europe,

:59:59.:00:01.

the weather is the same. It isn't always the case. We've talked about

:00:02.:00:05.

the wind tonight. Let's see if it settles around two metres, it was

:00:06.:00:06.

just over in the women's race. Wilson left a little bit. Kipping

:00:07.:00:18.

got the better start. Half a metre lead at the moment thchlt could be a

:00:19.:00:25.

big win if he can hold this. Wilson getting into his stride. Wilson gets

:00:26.:00:32.

the win. Well, Martinsen second. King, could he have lasted that

:00:33.:00:35.

through? He came under some pressure and when he came under pressure he

:00:36.:00:39.

hit the penultimate hurdle hard and that put paid to his chances.

:00:40.:00:43.

Wilson, after a not particularly good start and for a long part of

:00:44.:00:46.

the race not really looking as if he was going to get there, in the end

:00:47.:00:49.

good enough to come through for the win.

:00:50.:00:54.

As ever, Colin, it's never over until it's over in the hurdles. Ah!

:00:55.:00:59.

Poor David King. I think he was on for something really special there,

:01:00.:01:02.

Steve. He worked hard. He got out of the blocks well. He was aggressive.

:01:03.:01:07.

Just about now he clatters that hurdle and that drags him back. He

:01:08.:01:12.

lost metres, absolutely metres. I can see he had been frustrated with

:01:13.:01:16.

that. Sometimes when you are in a race and running faster than ever

:01:17.:01:20.

before, hurdles come to you a little bit quicker, you are anxious because

:01:21.:01:23.

you know you are in the lead and it could be a big victory and you just

:01:24.:01:27.

slightly lose it. For this young man that's exactly what happened. Watch

:01:28.:01:32.

this now. Boom! Pulse him back. Loses it. He lost his stride going

:01:33.:01:37.

into the barrier. He lost his height and when these are three foot six

:01:38.:01:40.

you don't want to do that. He will be frustrated. He will be angry but

:01:41.:01:48.

he will be back. I think you are right. He was

:01:49.:01:52.

probably heading for a personal best. The time is there. He got 13.

:01:53.:01:59.

79 hitting the last four hurdles. The penultimate one put paid to his

:02:00.:02:09.

Tremendous race with you both there. David, you thought you must have had

:02:10.:02:16.

it until the penultimate hurdle. Yeah, I was gutted to hit that

:02:17.:02:19.

hurdle. They were coming at me so fast. The track is unbelievably

:02:20.:02:26.

fast. The hurdles fly at you. Then when it flew at you so fast, hit it,

:02:27.:02:34.

almost fell. Watching it back now, it's horrible to watch! I am really

:02:35.:02:40.

pleased with the run. It's a good sign of things to come. It bodes

:02:41.:02:44.

well, don't be too hard on yourself. Exactly. Amazing experience. I am

:02:45.:02:49.

really happy to be here. Ryan, you are still doing it, still winning

:02:50.:02:55.

races, but you also coach one of the best female hurdlers in the world.

:02:56.:02:59.

You are an all-round fantastic hurdler. I am trying to be. I am

:03:00.:03:05.

trying to make some, as well. He was having a great race, right. Pushing

:03:06.:03:10.

me the whole way. So, you know, it was really fun to come out here. I

:03:11.:03:15.

love having the eyes and the crowd right here on you. But, yeah, it's

:03:16.:03:20.

all about progression and this was an important meet for me to progress

:03:21.:03:25.

to my goals this year. So, it's really exciting to get back here.

:03:26.:03:30.

Does that include competing and coaching in Rio? Absolutely. That's

:03:31.:03:37.

the plan, you know, we made the 2013 team together. And I can't describe

:03:38.:03:44.

how the feeling how happy, you know, obviously it was my first team, US

:03:45.:03:50.

team, but then also the feeling of coaching someone to her first team

:03:51.:03:53.

is really special. It's really indescribable. I was happier for her

:03:54.:03:57.

than I was for me, which is a strange thing to say in sports

:03:58.:04:01.

because it's such a selfish activity. It's a tremendous

:04:02.:04:04.

accomplishment. Well done on the win. Good luck going forward to both

:04:05.:04:08.

of you. David, better luck next time. Thank you very much.

:04:09.:04:20.

Final jump for Greg Rutherford. Has barely put a foot wrong. Asking for

:04:21.:04:27.

more from the crowd. He has been so tidy. Three valid jumps and getting

:04:28.:04:36.

better with every round. The wind perhaps has dropped a

:04:37.:04:39.

little bit. Let's see how far he can go in round four. He is dominating

:04:40.:04:42.

the event at the moment. A long way clear of his challengers.

:04:43.:04:48.

That's good. He knows that. He has jumped 8. 30 so far this

:04:49.:04:53.

season but in warmer climes of California last month and here in a

:04:54.:04:57.

cool and blustery Manchester City centre. Again, very good on the

:04:58.:05:02.

board. Really is so tidy. It's 8. 20. A

:05:03.:05:10.

Games record. Two centimetres longer than the mark set by Chris

:05:11.:05:16.

Tomlinson. That was back in 2012. That was very

:05:17.:05:30.

impressive from Rutherford. This is Melvin Echard of the United

:05:31.:05:33.

States. Fouls in the first two rounds.

:05:34.:05:46.

The last but one jumper to go, only Ronald Hertog to go after Echard.

:05:47.:05:51.

Can he deny Rutherford the victory? I don't think it's as far as

:05:52.:05:55.

Rutherford. It might extend his 7.37.

:05:56.:06:04.

May well go into second place. Very good on the board, as well.

:06:05.:06:11.

It's 7. 53. He will go into second place, a long way behind Rutherford.

:06:12.:06:18.

Confirmation of that men's long jump.

:06:19.:06:26.

Rutherford with a Games record. Very impressive early season form

:06:27.:06:33.

from Greg Rutherford. It augurs well for the rest of the summer.

:06:34.:06:46.

Unfortunately, it's spitting now. The women's 100 metres. A year ago

:06:47.:06:51.

Dafne Schippers was still training for the women's shot put. Now she's

:06:52.:06:58.

one of the fastest women in the world and the reigning women's 200

:06:59.:07:10.

champion. Dafne Schippers, the heptathlete turned sprinter.

:07:11.:07:18.

Schippers will get the gold medal! A new championship record! Patience

:07:19.:07:25.

paid off for Dafne Schippers. Who could have expected this, a gold

:07:26.:07:33.

medal in the 200 metres? It was a special, special run. These

:07:34.:07:38.

two are under the umbrella. Thanks guys! You are more than welcome. You

:07:39.:07:44.

will have watched that at home, Perri. What do you make of the way

:07:45.:07:50.

Schippers has transitioned to an incredible sprinter? Only one word,

:07:51.:07:55.

rapid! Seeing it in person, like now, I am going to be... I have

:07:56.:07:58.

always seen it on the TV, never live. A lot of people will take that

:07:59.:08:02.

for granted, the speed of us athletes. When we see it live it's a

:08:03.:08:06.

different ball game. Colin, one of the things I am impressed about is

:08:07.:08:10.

the way psychologically she has got into being a sprinter. It's a

:08:11.:08:14.

different type of competitive environment with the sprints and the

:08:15.:08:20.

heptathlon. There is not much sharing about the knowledge in that

:08:21.:08:23.

sense, you have to go out there and focus as a true individual. You are

:08:24.:08:27.

right at the beginning, she's one of the best right now, of all time.

:08:28.:08:32.

Remember, she's gone under 21. 7 mark in the 200 metres. That's how

:08:33.:08:37.

quick she is. It's 100 metres for her tonight. Andrew Cotter is your

:08:38.:08:46.

commentator. It may well be Dafne Schippers

:08:47.:08:47.

against the clock. There is Cleo Vanburen. Ran 11. 10.

:08:48.:09:23.

A good few years ago now, back in 2006. 11. 53 this season. Dafne

:09:24.:09:32.

Schippers continues to improve in terms of starts to the year. 10. 83

:09:33.:09:42.

already in Doha. Bartolleta won her second long jump

:09:43.:09:49.

cycle in the same night in Beijing. A long jumper, though, but with

:09:50.:09:56.

great sprinting speed. Has run 11. 23 and Laura Muller who won the 200,

:09:57.:10:01.

more of a 400 metre runner so will do well to get the legs moving

:10:02.:10:06.

briskly in this one with high quality sprinters.

:10:07.:10:10.

Very few of higher quality than Dafne Schippers in world terms.

:10:11.:10:26.

Just a few spots of rain, hoping the wind might drop and see what time

:10:27.:10:35.

Dafne Schippers can manage. The women's 100 metres.

:10:36.:10:44.

Schippers comes away and uses all that power. Schippers and

:10:45.:10:50.

Bartolleta. Schippers against the clock. 10. 94. A Games record. The

:10:51.:10:58.

wind just above the legal limit. As we expected, a really dominant

:10:59.:11:02.

performance from Dafne Schippers. She will be running in the

:11:03.:11:06.

Netherlands on Sunday. Will look to see what she does there. Schippers

:11:07.:11:11.

continues to impress and impressing here in Deansgate this evening. Away

:11:12.:11:15.

not too badly. Once she gets going no one was going to touch her here.

:11:16.:11:22.

Bartolleta can start well but nothing she can do about the power

:11:23.:11:26.

of Schippers. A big year ahead, obviously for everybody, but what a

:11:27.:11:31.

prospect for her with Rio approaching. Doha, 10. 83 and it was

:11:32.:11:42.

much warmer there, of course, the beginning of the Diamond League

:11:43.:11:45.

season. I just get the feeling that Schippers is going to be even better

:11:46.:11:49.

this year than last year. Really good run. A little bit windy so the

:11:50.:11:53.

time won't stand as a record but a great performance from her.

:11:54.:12:00.

What a world star Dafne Schippers is she is days. We saw you perform in

:12:01.:12:05.

Beijing last year and the gold medal changed life for you it's fair to

:12:06.:12:10.

say in the Netherlands. Yeah, totally different world. It's very

:12:11.:12:14.

nice and I am happy to be here and very nice atmosphere. Thank you for

:12:15.:12:19.

that. It's always great to see the world's biggest stars coming here to

:12:20.:12:22.

Manchester and taking part in the Games. You are that now. Can you

:12:23.:12:25.

believe what's happened to you the last year or two in sprinting? Yeah,

:12:26.:12:31.

I see it and people see me, it's special for me and it's a total

:12:32.:12:36.

different world as I say. Yeah, makes new steps and I hope that I

:12:37.:12:40.

can run fast this year. Certainly if you do and you do it in Rio your

:12:41.:12:44.

fame's going to go to a new level. Are you ready for that? I think so.

:12:45.:12:49.

It looks like you are on tonight's performance. Congratulations on that

:12:50.:12:54.

and good luck going forward. Let's hear it for Dafne Schippers. Thank

:12:55.:12:55.

you. APPLAUSE AND

:12:56.:13:03.

CHEERING Well done, Dafne Schippers. Perhaps

:13:04.:13:06.

the most expected result of the evening even with the wind above the

:13:07.:13:09.

legal limit. From one world champion to another.

:13:10.:13:21.

Greg Rutherford skipped over from Albert Square. It was a tough start

:13:22.:13:24.

out there. But you got it right in the end. Yeah, absolutely. It's

:13:25.:13:27.

always a difficult one when you have had a few days in the UK. I got back

:13:28.:13:32.

on Monday. Trying to get back to this time difference and everything

:13:33.:13:36.

else. And this weather. Yeah, I left in 40 degrees and came back to about

:13:37.:13:39.

15. It was a bit of a shock. But it was a great finish to the

:13:40.:13:43.

competition. I am delighted to say these two haven't shared the

:13:44.:13:48.

umbrella with you either! What's happening? Talk about your prep. I

:13:49.:13:54.

have been watching you posting some weights you have been lifting, and

:13:55.:13:58.

the long jumps. You look in shape. Yeah, you know what, I thought this

:13:59.:14:02.

year I will spend as much time in the heat with my coach and a great

:14:03.:14:10.

training group. And some of the best long jumpers around in the world and

:14:11.:14:13.

I want to be around those guys. I never shy away from competition in

:14:14.:14:16.

practice, as well. I have been working hard the last few months. I

:14:17.:14:19.

am going to go back there in a couple of weeks to get a last prep

:14:20.:14:22.

done and we will have hopefully a good run into the Olympics. You have

:14:23.:14:26.

the Grand Slam and obviously you start again. To retain an Olympic

:14:27.:14:31.

title you must have thought about it, it's something that's

:14:32.:14:35.

incredible. Absolutely. I mean, it's always at the back of your mind.

:14:36.:14:37.

There is obviously competitions br that but you want to be setting

:14:38.:14:41.

yourself up for a good Olympics again, not many people managed to

:14:42.:14:44.

retain it and I am hoping I can do that. I have been working incredibly

:14:45.:14:47.

hard, based in the rice place with the right people in order to do it.

:14:48.:14:50.

-- right place. I have as good a chance as any and this could be the

:14:51.:14:54.

best year to do it. The thing is and all the other long jumpers will be

:14:55.:14:58.

afraid of this, is that when it really matters you seem to be able

:14:59.:15:02.

to produce the result. That's a precious gift as an athlete.

:15:03.:15:06.

Kilty, Even when I was younger I loved the big stages. Sadly

:15:07.:15:12.

something got in the way, injury, illness. But since 20 I've had the

:15:13.:15:19.

-- 2012 I love the big occasions. That's why I thrive. I train to

:15:20.:15:23.

hopefully perform well on a major stage. It will be no different. I

:15:24.:15:26.

will walk into the Olympic Stadium this year full of joy, pride and

:15:27.:15:30.

determination to do it again. You two there, do come and join us.

:15:31.:15:36.

We'll sneak in. This guy really has, what can you say the last four

:15:37.:15:40.

years? I was smiling the whole way through your interview there. For

:15:41.:15:44.

the real reason is I know and I've always had faith in you. You're a

:15:45.:15:47.

phenomenal athlete, even as a young man. I could see the potential

:15:48.:15:52.

there. Now you have that sense of consistency about your performances

:15:53.:15:54.

it's putting a smile on your face. The most important thing is you

:15:55.:15:58.

mentioned there having consistency in training, without any

:15:59.:16:02.

interruptions. That is going to elevate you hugely. With the Olympic

:16:03.:16:08.

Games as a target, what else is there, are we going to see another

:16:09.:16:11.

British record this year? I'd like to think so. I've opened the season

:16:12.:16:15.

better than ever before. Funny enough, I looked at what you guys

:16:16.:16:19.

used to, do you spent lots of periods of time overseas with the

:16:20.:16:22.

right people. My coach is in America. I have to see him. He's in

:16:23.:16:26.

Arizona, which is a lovely place to be as well. We are training in the

:16:27.:16:29.

right place with the right people. I've never opened a season like

:16:30.:16:33.

this. Even the Olympic year, it started well, but nothing like. This

:16:34.:16:37.

touch wood, obviously it maintains and conditions. I feel good.

:16:38.:16:40.

Consistency is key for winning medals. You must take encouragement

:16:41.:16:44.

from this all the injury problems you've had. You won a Silver Medal

:16:45.:16:51.

in 2006 and it took you to '12 to make the breakthrough. I'm list tong

:16:52.:16:55.

Greg and yeah, I'm taking in this information. As an athlete you have

:16:56.:16:59.

to do what's best for you. I had to do what's best for me in order to

:17:00.:17:02.

get back to wri want to be in terms of returning from injury. The necht

:17:03.:17:07.

step is to fulfil my potential. I would look a bit of the silverware

:17:08.:17:10.

and the gold. LAUGHTER

:17:11.:17:15.

Thanks for the moment. We are going to focus on the men's 100 now. It

:17:16.:17:19.

features the last two world indoor champions.

:17:20.:17:24.

The atmosphere builds. The men's 60 metres final.

:17:25.:17:32.

Kilty gets a flying start. So does Bromell. Kilty might just get there.

:17:33.:17:39.

Bromell wins it! Gold for Great Britain. Gold Medal for Kilty. Now

:17:40.:17:45.

that's a shock. Now he's the world champion. Trayvon Bromell comes out

:17:46.:17:53.

on top. They are the future of world sprinting.

:17:54.:18:03.

Right in the middle there the, I wouldn't say imposing figure of

:18:04.:18:08.

Trayvon Bromell, rather diminutive figure, but I notice he's wearing

:18:09.:18:12.

his tracksuit bottoms, maybe thinking he can win this without

:18:13.:18:16.

having to strip his bottoms off. Chijindu Ujah against him, Kim

:18:17.:18:20.

Collins, Richard Kilty. So the man who couldn't go and defend his title

:18:21.:18:27.

in Portland in March had to watch at home at Bromell beat Powell, who was

:18:28.:18:31.

perhaps the favourite going into that. Bromell ran a personal best in

:18:32.:18:38.

that final. Really good indeed. As Greg Rutherford was saying, another

:18:39.:18:41.

man training in America, Chijindu Ujah out there with his training

:18:42.:18:49.

group. He's run 10. 17 this year. Like Harry Aikines-Aryeetey that

:18:50.:18:56.

won't be good enough at this point. Bromell, third at the World

:18:57.:18:59.

Championships outdoors as well last year. Tied with the other great

:19:00.:19:06.

talent from Canada de Grasse. They are the future of world sprinting,

:19:07.:19:11.

amongst others. It's wrong to say he's the past. He's the future of

:19:12.:19:15.

40-year-old sprinting. He's just broken the world record for a

:19:16.:19:19.

40-year-old. Kim Collins former world champion, 10. 09 at age 40!

:19:20.:19:28.

Puts us all to shame. Richard Kilty, still only 26. He, like all our

:19:29.:19:41.

sprinters, knows that not only their individual berth is want they want

:19:42.:19:51.

to aim for but the relay chances. If they get the relay right that's a

:19:52.:19:54.

medal opportunity at the Olympic Games.

:19:55.:19:59.

Bromell feeling a little chilly here in Manchester. Can he warm up this

:20:00.:20:08.

track? Bromell gets a blistering start. Kilty gets away, so does Kim

:20:09.:20:13.

Collins. He's leading this. The 40-year-old is head of the two

:20:14.:20:16.

youngsters. Kim Collins is going to get there! 10. 07. The wind plus 3.

:20:17.:20:25.

2, so it's not another world record. It would have been, 10. 09 his best

:20:26.:20:31.

up to this point in the season. What a shock there. Bromell left his

:20:32.:20:35.

tracksuit bottoms on. He should have taken them off. He was not quick

:20:36.:20:40.

enough. He was well out of the blocks. Collins as ever always with

:20:41.:20:44.

a good start. Kilty, the three of them even after the first 20. But it

:20:45.:20:49.

was the veteran and I can use that word properly, he is a master, Kim

:20:50.:20:56.

Collins comes away with the win. You can almost see 20-year-old Trayvon

:20:57.:21:00.

Bromell seeing the 40-year-old Kim Collins run. Still such zip as well.

:21:01.:21:05.

I thought Bromell was going to come past him in the latter stages. Kim

:21:06.:21:09.

Collins holding on and looking strong. Kilty unable to get there.

:21:10.:21:13.

Trayvon Bromell, I expected him as the big star, the man who is such a

:21:14.:21:17.

huge talent, I thought he was going to come through. He wasn't making

:21:18.:21:21.

any ground on Kim Collins, his unique style, we've seen it for so

:21:22.:21:25.

many years now. It takes him to another victory here. Bromell a bit

:21:26.:21:32.

of a grin and a grimmace. Another victory in the remarkable career of

:21:33.:21:35.

Kim Collins by a distance. You can see on the photograph there, very

:21:36.:21:40.

close for second, but I think it's given to Bromell. A good way behind

:21:41.:21:44.

our winner Collins comfort A tremendous race Kim, you defy age

:21:45.:21:57.

yet again. Over 40, twice this guy's age here to your left, yet you took

:21:58.:22:01.

the victory? Yes, when you step on the line, age has nothing to do with

:22:02.:22:05.

it. Step on the line as men, that's what it's about. Age has nothing.

:22:06.:22:10.

I'm very happy to be able to do it at this age. Manchester is one of my

:22:11.:22:14.

favourite places after what - 14 years? It's great. Commonwealth

:22:15.:22:18.

champion 14 years ago, that's hard to believe. That's where you shot to

:22:19.:22:22.

fame. You've had many successes since. What can you possibly achieve

:22:23.:22:27.

then at this age in an Olympic year? I just want to go under ten seconds.

:22:28.:22:32.

I don't know about the year, my personal goal is to go under ten at

:22:33.:22:39.

40 and if I do that, I will retire. I want to come back indoors and set

:22:40.:22:44.

the world record at 40. After the indoor season next year we might see

:22:45.:22:49.

the end of you. Yes. I hope not. A lot more from you, of course, you

:22:50.:22:54.

burst onto the scene in spectacular style. This guy had you today? Yeah,

:22:55.:22:59.

it was a great race. I jumped out and I stumbled. I started seeing him

:23:00.:23:03.

moving. I tried to bring up my speed. Too late to kick. I was like,

:23:04.:23:07.

he got it. What's next for you as you build up to what's one of the

:23:08.:23:10.

biggest events outside the Olympics this year, obviously the trials in

:23:11.:23:13.

the US just to make your team is tough. Oh, yeah, it's going to be a

:23:14.:23:18.

lot of tough competition. I've got a strong mind set. Coming out here and

:23:19.:23:21.

losing a race don't mean I'm going to lose. It I've got a lot more to

:23:22.:23:26.

learn and be able to prove myself. I just got to keep moving forward.

:23:27.:23:30.

I've got faith in God. Best be to God. Thanks for being here today.

:23:31.:23:35.

Great to see you. All the best going forward. Thank you for having me

:23:36.:23:42.

here. Let's tidy up the result.

:23:43.:24:02.

On a Friday evening in Manchester, it turned out to be a 40-year-old

:24:03.:24:07.

who had all the moves. When a performance from Kim Collins. Here

:24:08.:24:13.

are the highlights from Deansgate. It was Greg Rutherford in the men's

:24:14.:24:21.

long jump,le. Jump,le. -- long jump, a Games record here in Manchester.

:24:22.:24:27.

In the women's 100m hurdles, British number one and European champion,

:24:28.:24:30.

Tiffany Porter showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field.

:24:31.:24:34.

She's building up nicely towards Rio.

:24:35.:24:40.

In the women's 100m, Dafne Schippers the new darling of the track, the

:24:41.:24:45.

darling of the sprints, she ran sub-11. As we have said it's a

:24:46.:24:54.

chilly evening here in Manchester. So guys, Kim Collins! We talked

:24:55.:24:58.

about the young guy, talked about the world indoor champions and Kim

:24:59.:25:03.

Collins defies science, everything. Yeah, he didn't get no mention, did

:25:04.:25:07.

he? No. No mention at all. Like I said, let the running do the

:25:08.:25:11.

talking. Today he shows you know, don't put an age on. It he's looking

:25:12.:25:17.

great, young as ever. You know Pharrell Williams, he never ages.

:25:18.:25:21.

They say he's like a vampire. That's what he looks like. The other three

:25:22.:25:26.

must have been running along thinking, "This shouldn't be

:25:27.:25:29.

happening." Yeah you do have that bit of feeling. How is this man

:25:30.:25:34.

possibly run soing quickly? -- running so quickly? You hit it on

:25:35.:25:39.

the head. You have to have the right ambition. He sets himself the

:25:40.:25:42.

targets. Kim has said already, I wants to go under ten seconds. He

:25:43.:25:45.

knows how much work he needs to do to go under ten seconds. He's been

:25:46.:25:49.

there before. Now he wants to do it as a 40-year-old. Exactly the same

:25:50.:25:53.

as indoors, he wants to set the world indoor record for a

:25:54.:25:56.

40-year-old. If you keep it in your mind that you want to get to the

:25:57.:26:01.

top, you need to do what you need to do and you will do it. Confidence

:26:02.:26:06.

for the British guys going to the trials and trying to get in the team

:26:07.:26:10.

for Rio, that's not great for CJ particularly, he said the gun was

:26:11.:26:13.

quick. But for Richard as well. It's the sort of performance they don't

:26:14.:26:18.

want at this time. You're talking of what - sorry... I missed that bit.

:26:19.:26:23.

It's difficult with the sound isn't it. For CJ and for Richard, it's a

:26:24.:26:27.

dent to their confidence to get beaten like that? I know, you don't

:26:28.:26:31.

want to be beaten. But I'm sure they were looking at each other more.

:26:32.:26:35.

Obviously they would have liked to have finished higher. Again, they'll

:26:36.:26:39.

go back and look and see what they need to work on. It's another race

:26:40.:26:43.

under their belt. They're going to look forward to the next one. Nerms

:26:44.:26:49.

of the women's -- in terms of the women's 100m, Dafne Schippers sub-11

:26:50.:26:54.

seconds, not a quick evening. Yeah, with a strong wind behind it

:26:55.:26:58.

registered there, lots of the athletes are frustrated with the

:26:59.:27:01.

wind speeds. But again it's about getting the runs under your belt.

:27:02.:27:05.

That is going to be really what's going to be paramount for her. Under

:27:06.:27:09.

11 seconds again. If I'm honest, not a very good start. With that in

:27:10.:27:14.

mind, we will see lot from Dafne Schippers come the Olympics. You

:27:15.:27:18.

wouldn't bet against her. No. Doing the double, it's not impossible. No,

:27:19.:27:23.

a lot of athletes are able to do, put on a fast 100 and 200 metres,

:27:24.:27:28.

they can double up. I'm sure she's got her eyes on both medals. Let's

:27:29.:27:32.

remind you of some of the things on BBC Sport:

:27:33.:28:08.

The FA Cup Final is on at 5. 30 on BBC One. What a day it's been,

:28:09.:28:14.

Friday evening in Manchester. The rain is coming down, but that hasn't

:28:15.:28:19.

dampened spirits. We're back on the streets of Manchester on Sunday for

:28:20.:28:23.

the Great Manchester Run. See you then, bye-bye.

:28:24.:28:45.

I think we're in for a real cracker.

:28:46.:29:03.

This could be the game of the season.

:29:04.:29:04.

There's going to be fireworks. A repeat of the 1995...

:29:05.:29:08.
