-It was a huge occasion

-So many turned up to watch.

-An amazing occasion for the players,

-coaching staff and fans.

-How much of a difference

-can it make to the sport in Wales?

-It could be huge for Welsh netball.

-Over two days,

-over 5,000 fans turned up.

-The hope is that these

-two test matches...

-..inspire a new generation

-of netball players.

-So many people I spoke to

-were going.

-Children and teachers,

-whole classes.

-They lost the first match heavily

-but improved a lot in 24 hours.

-What are the first steps

-you can take to close that gap?

-After the first game, the coaching

-staff and players went away...

-..and analysed the performance.

-They would have looked at how to cut

-down on mistakes in the second game.

-The two scores were very different.

-They went from their worst ever

-score against New Zealand...

-..to the best ever score.

-A lot of work was done in 24 hours.

-The only way to improve

-is to play the best in the world.

-That was shown in these two games.

-To cut the deficit by 50%

-in just 24 hours...

-..was absolutely amazing to see.

-New Zealand are a full-time outfit.

-Later on, we'll see the Welsh rugby

-women play the full-time English.

-Is it all about money in the end?

-We can't avoid the fact

-that there is a huge difference.

-They are full-time

-and that has a huge effect.

-The Welsh players are teachers,

-lecturers or full-time students.

-They do have a big advantage...

-..but the only way to improve

-is to compete with the best.

-We showed in the second game the

-talent that we have in the squad.

-There are exciting times

-Only the men have them in Wales.

-We're far off that for the women.

-I took my six-year-old and she was

-next generation to carry on.

-Earlier this year, I moved down

-here, more or less, full-time.

-It's a sacrifice you have to make.

-On the results side,

-I see the benefit.

-It's a fairly easy decision despite

-missing friends and family at home.

-When the results come in

-it shows me why I need to be here.

-Chaz celebrated

-his 30th birthday last weekend.

-Bikes have been a huge part

-of his life for years.

-That's down the influence

-of his father, Pete.

-He got me started

-on this career path.

-He ended up

-building a go-kart circuit.

-That's his bread and butter

-with my mum.

-These days it's their business

-but I grew up riding on that.

-It started me off riding

-Mini Moto and 80cc and then...

-..before you know it 125cc but it

-started as a kind of family hobby.

-My sister used to race, my mum

-did the time-keeping and Dad raced.

-I started there really.

-Bike racing is not all glamour.

-Although he races on tarmac, Chaz...

-..like many other racers,

-trains on a very different surface.

-This is really good for me with

-the physical load of the bumps...

-..and the bike slides around a lot

-because there isn't much grip.

-You must be careful not to hurt

-yourself with a small mistake.

-You have to stay sharp.

-The effort and the training

-is paying dividends.

-His performances at the end

-of last season were stunning...

-..as he won all

-but one of the races.

-We had a hell of an end to the

-season.

-I won seven out of the last

-eight races.

-It was beyond expectation.

-In the summer break I found a bike

-setting I was really happy with.

-We joked about winning

-all the last races.

-It's one thing saying it and another

-thing actually pulling it off.

-We were very close to it.

-When things are working like that,

-it was kind of like clockwork.

-It ended brilliantly but the start

-of the season was a different story.

-Jonathan Rea's consistency

-meant he won....

-..for the second consecutive

-season.

-My biggest rival is very consistent.

-We ended up winning two more races

-than he did over the season.

-He had less zero points finishes

-than I did.

-It's about ironing out

-those peaks and troughs.

-Not necessarily winning every race

-but at least being on the podium.

-I feel like I have a target on my

-back since the end of last year.

-It's just part and parcel of it

-and trying to keep it going.

-It all starts again in Australia in

-two weeks.

-Once more, the Kawasakis

-will be the ones to beat.

-After coming second and third on the

-Ducati the challenge is obvious.

-It's a difficult track.

-It's so fast.

-After a winter of not riding too

-much it takes a bit of adjusting to.

-The speeds there are extremely fast.

-There's not a lot of braking there.

-You basically throw the thing on its

-side and hope it sticks.

-For me, I've gone home from there in

-an ambulance before.

-It's definitely the wrong way

-to start the season.

-There's a seriously strong field.

-Some of the other bikes have

-improved a lot over the winter.

-There's going to be a lot

-of names in the mix this year.

-For the overall championship,

-there's just be a few guys.

-The expectation is high but I've put

-enough pressure and expectation...

-..on myself to deliver I don't

-really feel like there's any...

-..external pressure

-that can possibly top that.

-The season is long so if it doesn't

-go well then it is what it is.

-It's nothing that can be changed.

-The aim is to put myself

-in the best possible position...

-..to fight

-for this world championship.

-There's no doubt that the Welshman

-is ready for it.

-His heroes' words

-continue to inspire him.

-I was told when I was very young,

-I was probably 12 years old...

-..by Kenny Roberts

-the former 500cc world champion.

-He said whatever you do,

-stick at it.

-That's stuck with me because there's

-been so many times when...

-..I could have thrown in the towel

-and got a real job.

-I looked up to riders in the world

-championship.

-I admired pretty much

-all of them.

-It was my dream. I saw them as

-something that was unachievable.

-I'm very lucky to say that I've

-raced against the majority of them.

-It's bit cliched

-but dreams do sort of come true.

-We love cliches here

-and good luck to Chaz Davies.

-We'll be keeping an eye on his

-Superbike fortunes this season.

-Something amazing has happened

-in Welsh football.

-The New Saints have lost a game...

-..for the first time in the

-Welsh Premier League this season.

-It happened in Carmarthen

-in all competitions before this one.

-in the Superleague...

-..but the league has expanded

-this season.

-There's a new Scottish team

-and the league is developing nicely.

-Definitely. The league now has ten

-teams with three new teams involved.

-It's more open and we don't know

-much about the three new sides.

-We don't know what to expect.

-The new teams are exciting

-and good for the sport.

-As a club, do you set targets and

-what are your ambitions this season?

-Of, course, we do set targets.

-Our goal is a top-four finish.
