-I've been playing softball

-for a while, for four or five years.

-I've enjoyed my time

-with my friends in the Hammers.

-I knew plenty of people

-who spoke Welsh...

-..so I thought we could form a team

-of Welsh speakers in the capital.

-I had a chat with some of my friends

-in our local pub.

-We had funding from Sport Wales

-and a team was born.

-What's the team name?

-We're called Teirw'r Taf!

-What made you want to be part of

-this? What was the appeal for you?

-After meeting Angharad,

-she persuaded me to give it a go.

-I joined the team and had

-one training session with them.

-What appealed most was the

-socialising whilst playing sport.

-It's easy to go running,

-which is really good...

-..but this was a bit more social.

-Were you active in sport

-before joining Teirw'r Taf?

-I just ran, really,

-and went to the gym.

-It's hard to do all the time,

-there's no incentive.

-It's a greater incentive when you

-know you're meeting up with others.

-That covers the social side

-of the sport...

-..but how competitive are you -

-is there a league?

-There is a league in Cardiff,

-in Bristol, and across the Britain.

-There are 11 teams in the league

-in Cardiff.

-We've had some success but

-there's still room for improvement.

-It's a lot of fun, we travel a lot,

-we play in tournaments.

-We've played

-in Bristol and Edinburgh.

-You can have a lot of fun

-when you're playing.

-We camp on the side of pitches

-and have a lot of fun.

-Saying that, schools only really

-offer netball and hockey.

-As you grow up, life can intervene.

-You get married, have children.

-There are also work pressures.

-People think it's not for them,

-they don't have time or the talent.

-I think it's so important.

-Going out on a Wednesday

-can give you a release...

-..and give you a feeling

-of enjoyment through sport.

-It's good for your body and soul.

-It also helps your mental health.

-Charmine, Angharad mentioned

-that traditionally...

-..only netball and hockey

-are played in schools.

-Do you think schools

-should offer more?

-Definitely.

-I was lucky at school.

-I played cricket and football.

-We didn't have many chances

-to play against other schools.

-We didn't have time to train.

-If more schools offered

-a variety of sports...

-..it would help the campaign

-for people to choose a sport.

-Was it only netball and hockey

-you played at school?

-Was there more of a variety?

-They were the main sports...

-..but I did play basketball,

-football and cricket.

-I was quite sporty

-so I played everything.

-I wasn't too bothered

-about playing hockey or netball.

-It was the chance

-to play other sports...

-..that kept me interested

-throughout my life.
