needs to do well. Tony O'Shea, he has been here and done it. West, he

is always there or thereabouts. Jennings, Thompson, two old

campaigners. On that subject, Martin Phillips. He will get to the

semi, played brilliantly and then he just goes. He is a very very

good dart player. His Scott Waites at the main challenger to will

freak's dream? Who played the best darts last year. He is the man.

will remember these names from many years ago. Tony West, the Flemish

players, a lot of Dutch player's ear. Good day when? It has been

will progress. Scott Mitchell first. Scottie dog, such a colourful

me. I have been here so many times, 19 times. I love it here. You can

look back on something like scoring and think, what if? But it does not

matter what if, it is what was. Good memories. I have watched bits-

and-pieces back. There was a great game. I was pleased I came out on

top, obviously. He it took him 14 visits to Lakeside to win his first

world title. He has won three of the past six. There was another

first for me. I defended it and defended it successfully in which I

have not done here before. It gives me the opportunity to get the hat-

trick. If I do that, it would be another first. I like first, I like

equalling records and going be on them. Ought the wins you get here

are so special. Obviously, the first one was something really

immense for me. I walk -- I will always remember that first world

title. It took me a couple more years decidua the next one. I got

to it. He has been around the circuit for a little while, Scott.

He is a tough man to beat. You cannot take anything for granted.

He, the same as I can. I do not give predictions. Last time I

played Scott, up by one. That one. Hopefully I will win this time

round. That is my plans. He is as calm as a summer's day. So many

years ago, he could get the title, they now that he has got it under

his belt, it is like he is playing in his living room. By is not so

much pressure. He has won it three times. The other guys have to be 10

to win it. The defending champion, you are always going to be an

underdog if you are playing the defending champion. But there are

easier first round opponents. said, just before Christmas, he

just beat him. It is a tidy player if he comes out firing straight

away. Scott is a bit slower when he comes out. It will take a set or

two to get it through and he cannot take -- he cannot afford to do it

with Martin. We will find out all of the answers to those questions.

A big afternoon of darts here on the BBC. Suited and booted, here

are the Mitchell family. No matter how many years you have been here,

the late -- the app despair -- atmosphere always takes your breath

away. Foreign average punter, it is smooth all we wave. But for the

friends and family, they live every single arrow. Scott Mitchell's

You're always an honest man, Bobby, and sometimes what you say will rob

the players up a bit, I will ask a straightforward question - 3 in a

row is a great title, but would you rather see a young gun come through

and beat him? Yes. I would. You are not getting a drink off Martin

Adams later! It would be great if he wins it, but it will be boring.

If the same guy does it all the time, you think, it is like a video

of the year before. You'd like to see youngsters come through the

game, young guys coming up, to win this title to promote the game

tragedy, she lost her mother earlier in the week. Her mother

said, don't you dare pull out of this tournament. The darts will

mean little to her in comparison. She is a great lady players. The

best we have ever had, to be honest. Obviously, she is playing another

great player, Lisa Ashton. In fact, all these ladies this year are good

players. This is the best line-up we have ever had for the lady

players. Brilliant. They all could win it. Trina Gulliver is not going

to stand out with the ones in it this year. It is going to be drama

live action at the BDO World Championship, it is Steve West

against Tony O'Shea. Tony O'Shea was involved in a cracker of a

final here in 2009, but more often and not -- than not, a week at the

Lakeside is a holiday from hell. Welcome back to the big stage, are

you looking forward to it? every player it is the same, this

is the one we aim for on the tour, this is the big one. A great run to

the final in 2009, but last year, you went out in the first round, so

you will be desperate to change that record. If you look at my

record over the years, when I do have a first-round, I usually have

a good year the year after. I am looking for a good run this week.

How would you assess your former? You wonder Northern Ireland opened,

are you playing well? -- you one at the Northern Ireland Open. I have

practised to that standard, I had a quiet and easy Christmas and New

Year, I have not been out, just practised at home. I feel really

good. A it good to be on on day one, knowing that on Saturday afternoon,

practice room and the hotel is no fun at all, I would rather be up,

playing darts, get the first one out of the way. It is usually the

toughest one, you want to get rid of it. Steve West has never won in

it would be a different game. He had all of those chances and he

blew it. He did not play at all well. He hit loans -- loads of 1s.

You cannot do that in this tournament. You will never win

playing like that. We will skirt over and move on to the finish that

we saw from Tony O'Shea. This type of finish and this type of cool,

collected custom could see him do well. Double 10, lovely. That is a

great feeling when you do that. Then he bucked up his ideas. Treble

20, treble 20, double 11. Get on that, my son. Wald, Steve. He will

be thinking more about the finishes and he should be a happy man. Last

year, the first round was bad for him. All of the players say the

same. First round, if you do not win, you are out. You do not even

feel like you have been in the tournament. It hurts if you go out

in the second round, but not as much as in the first. Tony played

the last set as he can play. I am glad he did. It was a bit dodgy,

the first macro -- the first two sets. Wolfie, watch out, the

Silverback is with the waistcoat. I might consider that in the future.
