Hello, everybody. We are gathered here at the Lakeside Country Club on

:00:36.:00:45.

this Sunday afternoon. It is a full house of fancy dress and darts

:00:46.:00:49.

disciples. With me on the balcony is Bobby George. Nice to see you again.

:00:50.:01:00.

First night over. Did you go to bed early or did you entertain? Half

:01:01.:01:12.

past ten, after bed. Feed. -- feet up. The arthritis seems like a nice

:01:13.:01:23.

guy body hurts a bit! -- but he hurts a bit. Scott Waites went down

:01:24.:01:29.

in straight sets to Alan Norris. In 95 average, he was close to 50% in

:01:30.:01:36.

the checkouts. A top performance. It was not quite vintage Martin Adams

:01:37.:01:40.

but he just needed to get his qualifier out of the way and find a

:01:41.:01:44.

little form. He did that in patches, taking the first seven legs against

:01:45.:01:49.

the Canadian qualifier, Dave Cameron. He has Tony O'Shea in round

:01:50.:01:55.

one. Early drama in the ladies expanded round one, Trina Gulliver

:01:56.:02:07.

are not dead. -- knocked out. Bobby called the shock yesterday when Alan

:02:08.:02:11.

Norris big Scott Waites. How far can Norris go? Obviously, he has got a

:02:12.:02:18.

chance. But he has two up his game to be world champion. He has had the

:02:19.:02:24.

practice. He has had a game on the stage. I think he could do well. As

:02:25.:02:30.

for Martin Adams, it has been a tough year and he had to go through

:02:31.:02:35.

a qualifier. He found a little bit of form and then he runs straight

:02:36.:02:42.

into Tony O'Shea. Tony O'Shea, a good player, obviously. If Adams

:02:43.:02:46.

beats O Shea, he is back. It will be tough. That is as big as any final

:02:47.:02:55.

he has played? The first game yesterday was his most important. He

:02:56.:02:59.

plays Tony O'Shea. He is probably happy to play him. Adams is a good

:03:00.:03:04.

player, he has just had some problems. We're with you for four

:03:05.:03:11.

hours on the BBC. Every game on that stage tells a different story.

:03:12.:03:19.

First up, Christian Kist, a winner two years ago. He takes on the

:03:20.:03:24.

first-ever Japanese player to grace the lakeside stage. Then it is

:03:25.:03:32.

Anastasia Dobromyslova, who put the men to shame with her finishing last

:03:33.:03:36.

year. She plays Karin Krappin. That will be followed by Richie George,

:03:37.:03:44.

semifinalist last year, against Robbie Green, a quarterfinalist 12

:03:45.:03:48.

months ago. Then it is Gary Robson, part of the furniture, making his

:03:49.:03:54.

17th appearance and hoping to go beyond the last eight for the first

:03:55.:03:58.

time. Last year, Richie play for the first time and reached the

:03:59.:04:03.

semifinal. You are quite confident. You have not talked about it much

:04:04.:04:08.

this year. Are you less confident? Well, his girlfriend had a baby five

:04:09.:04:16.

months ago. He had a bit of time off. He went back in a couple of

:04:17.:04:25.

tournament in August. So, he has not put the hours in on the dart board,

:04:26.:04:29.

he has been doing his job, looking after his family. He has got

:04:30.:04:53.

semifinals, last 16, quarters. He is playing Robbie Green, who put a few

:04:54.:04:58.

games together last year. Robbie is a dangerous player. They are mates.

:04:59.:05:02.

He comes around the house and they practised together. -- practice. You

:05:03.:05:11.

cannot be mates. You have to hate the guy you play. A tough game.

:05:12.:05:16.

Robbie Green is no mug. If Richie does not perform, he will be in

:05:17.:05:20.

trouble. How is life as a grandfather? Not too bad. If I just

:05:21.:05:30.

-- if I get fed up, I go in another room. Let's start with the first

:05:31.:05:37.

game. This is real David versus Goliath. Two years ago, Christian

:05:38.:05:42.

Kist went all the way from the qualifying floor to the trophy. Only

:05:43.:05:48.

the third player ever to do that. He beat Tony O'Shea in the final. Ted

:05:49.:05:53.

Hankey in the semis. His opponent today is not so familiar. Today this

:05:54.:06:00.

man will create history. Herriot Lisa Missoula is the first-ever

:06:01.:06:05.

Japanese player to venture into the culture that is the lakeside arena.

:06:06.:06:09.

Herriot de Shimizu. His career highlight came on home

:06:10.:07:20.

soil when he won the Japan open. He must overcome a formidable opponent

:07:21.:07:25.

in former world champion Christian Kist.

:07:26.:08:05.

This particular pronunciation has been keeping Bobby up more than his

:08:06.:08:10.

grandkids. You have been phoning me for weeks! Let's hear it. Hiroaki

:08:11.:08:21.

Shimizu. 100%. It is brilliant we have these eight regional

:08:22.:08:23.

qualifiers. It is bringing more blood through. He could be found out

:08:24.:08:28.

a little bit today. He could be out of his depth? I don't want to say it

:08:29.:08:34.

in a horrible way, but I think he can get beaten up. Kist is a robotic

:08:35.:08:42.

player, very good. He is a soft tip player. It is a bigger target. At

:08:43.:08:55.

least the boy is here representing his country. He is playing in the

:08:56.:09:00.

World Cup. Good luck to them but I cannot see him win. The players have

:09:01.:09:07.

taken to him, we have taken to him. Every time he walks in the arena, he

:09:08.:09:11.

gets a great round of applause. He has brought something to the

:09:12.:09:17.

tournament. That is what the game is about. It is the people in it. He is

:09:18.:09:22.

so happy to be here. Every time you see him, he is smiling. Nobody does

:09:23.:09:31.

that to me! Let's get them onto the stage. Your introductions come

:09:32.:09:35.

courtesy from a man who still gets into the cinema at half-price,

:09:36.:09:39.

Richard Ashdown. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the

:09:40.:09:46.

2014 BDO world Championships at the home of world darts, the lakeside.

:09:47.:09:54.

We now welcome a former Japan open champion. The man from Yokohama.

:09:55.:10:07.

Hideo de Shimizu! -- Hideo de Shimizu!

:10:08.:11:07.

Introducing from the Netherlands, a current European Cup champion, the

:11:08.:11:14.

2012 lakeside world champion, Christian Kist!

:11:15.:11:52.

He is big in Japan, but will he be thunderstruck by the lipstick? We

:11:53.:11:59.

shall find out now with Vassos Alexander and Jim Proudfoot.

:12:00.:12:05.

Good afternoon. There are three former men's world champions at the

:12:06.:12:09.

tournament this year. One is through, one is out and now we see

:12:10.:12:14.

the bird, Christian Kist. Victorious two years ago, beaten in the first

:12:15.:12:19.

round last year. Now back in the preliminary round. The first

:12:20.:12:26.

Japanese to play here, Shimizu. Former Japanese open winner, a man

:12:27.:12:30.

with World Cup experience who came within three wins of a place last

:12:31.:12:34.

year and who has made it through to the preliminary round in expanded

:12:35.:12:40.

tournament. When Kist won here, he was an unknown quantity. --

:12:41.:12:49.

commodity. Now he is fit and pain-free, how close can he come to

:12:50.:12:52.

be discovering his old form with hopefully his arthritis behind him?

:12:53.:12:57.

This will certainly give us a good idea of how dangerous he is going to

:12:58.:13:00.

be. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen.

:13:01.:13:17.

First leg, first set. Game on! Game on is the cry. Or, if you prefer, we

:13:18.:13:24.

can say it in Japanese! I was talking to him five minutes

:13:25.:13:43.

before he came on stage and I asked him how he was feeling. He said he

:13:44.:13:49.

was nervous. He did not look it when he came on stage. And his first

:13:50.:13:52.

three darts were anything but nervous. I have a feeling this man,

:13:53.:13:59.

who has been smiling his way around lakeside for a week or more, might

:14:00.:14:05.

just fancy his chances against the former champion. He himself fancies

:14:06.:14:10.

his chances now he is finally pain-free. Nothing to split them at

:14:11.:14:14.

the moment. Christian Kist puts his recent

:14:15.:14:36.

improvement down to a change in medication over the last three

:14:37.:14:41.

months or so. He is finally pain-free. He has been having

:14:42.:14:44.

problems in his wrist and his ankles. When he was here last year,

:14:45.:14:51.

it was almost at its worst. He did average a shade over 85 in the first

:14:52.:14:55.

round against Robbie Green. He is confident that this time around it

:14:56.:14:59.

will be very different. And not being the defending champion, there

:15:00.:15:13.

is much less pressure. Neither player is down to a finished yet.

:15:14.:15:17.

This opening leg has just gone off the boil a bit. But important for

:15:18.:15:22.

Hiroaki Shimizu to hold this throw if he can.

:15:23.:15:39.

Hiroaki Shimizu requires 71. So, he has a chance to win this first leg.

:15:40.:15:50.

14 for double top. And a perfect start. A rising star from the land

:15:51.:16:08.

of the rising sun. He is a professional darts player, this

:16:09.:16:17.

34-year-old. Darts, he told me, is getting bigger in his home country,

:16:18.:16:25.

but still not many people play. If you search very hard in Japan you

:16:26.:16:35.

can find this on TV. He says most of his friends and family will be

:16:36.:16:40.

watching on Internet streams. Not his first time to the UK, but his

:16:41.:16:44.

first time anywhere near London. He's been enjoying a bit of

:16:45.:16:49.

sightseeing, he tells me, in and amongst the hours and hours of Pratt

:16:50.:17:07.

is. -- of practice. And that is why Christian Kist has been feeling

:17:08.:17:08.

confident. Way back, there was a 28, a 64 and a

:17:09.:17:48.

60 to start this leg. He needs a trouble and he can't find it. -- a

:17:49.:18:01.

treble. A 88 to level the set. No problem. Possibly the least

:18:02.:18:12.

pressurised 88 we will see here all week.

:18:13.:18:21.

Christian Kist is into the rhythm with a 180 and a 13 darter.

:18:22.:18:45.

Well, Hiroaki Shimizu told me he was nervous, but he hoped he would relax

:18:46.:18:52.

into it. It seems like almost the opposite has happened. He seems to

:18:53.:18:58.

have grown in nerves over the past leg and a half. 43, 22 to start this

:18:59.:19:07.

leg. He didn't find a trouble in the second leg of the match, having

:19:08.:19:13.

looked so impressive in the first. -- a treble.

:19:14.:19:38.

There is Christian Kist's girlfriend. She will be happy with

:19:39.:19:52.

the start her man is made here. Hiroaki Shimizu with the darts in

:19:53.:19:56.

this leg, but Christian Kist with a sizeable advantage. He will be the

:19:57.:20:04.

first to a checkout here. Two excellent darts there. Two 140s

:20:05.:20:24.

already from Christian. So, 20s burst. A treble 9 team, that will

:20:25.:20:39.

leave in team. -- treble 19, that will leave 18. It is double 16. Just

:20:40.:21:05.

outside. No score. Hiroaki Shimizu, you require 123. Yes, treble 16

:21:06.:21:26.

Leeds 99. -- leaves double 9. He misses. He certainly got the crowd

:21:27.:21:32.

on his side. Six missed darts. Just the one dart in a double, is it

:21:33.:22:14.

all you need is? Yes, it is! The 2012 world champion missed six darts

:22:15.:22:22.

in a double. And Hiroaki Shimizu took advantage. After nine darts PC

:22:23.:22:42.

was 195 behind there. -- darts apiece, he was 195 behind there.

:22:43.:22:53.

That is Hiroaki Shimizu's partner, and next to her is the young lady

:22:54.:23:04.

doing all their translation. He has been able to translate his soft tip

:23:05.:23:08.

form on the stage so far. Everything has been going with rose

:23:09.:24:13.

so far. You nailed it. That will settle his nerves. Wesley is here

:24:14.:24:24.

watching on several of the players who win in action earlier this week

:24:25.:24:28.

and or indeed are playing later. Interested observers cheering on

:24:29.:24:35.

their adversaries. He is already through, of course.

:24:36.:25:01.

Big camaraderie amongst all the players, especially the Dutch

:25:02.:25:08.

contingent. Nine of them are here this year. Look at the difference in

:25:09.:25:13.

the players. Christian averaging 100, Shimizu back in the 70s.

:25:14.:25:21.

Nevertheless, if he holds here, he has the first set. A 45 followed by

:25:22.:25:31.

a 40 is not going to help. An opening here for Kist. So, 66 ahead,

:25:32.:25:50.

is Kist. Shimizu needs a big store -- score. Well done.

:25:51.:26:14.

Much to his restriction, he is not on a finish. -- his frustration.

:26:15.:26:36.

When it is the first of three sets, the three legs within each of those

:26:37.:26:56.

sets, not too much margin for error. And Shimizu has won the first set

:26:57.:27:02.

against the 2012 champion. How about that?

:27:03.:27:13.

It all hinged around that heard leg really, when Shimizu, miles behind,

:27:14.:27:26.

190 behind at one stage, Kist missed six darts in a double and lost the

:27:27.:27:29.

leg, and Tom as a consequence, the set.

:27:30.:27:45.

It is the Dutchman knew as the darts in his second set. -- who has the

:27:46.:28:07.

darts. Meeting with the top seed, Stephen Bunting, on Tuesday

:28:08.:28:08.

afternoon. Looks like this one may well go with

:28:09.:28:56.

the dark as well. -- the darts. Six darts to do it. 16 for double top. A

:28:57.:29:05.

fraction away from another 116. Game shot, and the first leg, Kist.

:29:06.:29:37.

Still everything going with the dark. -- darts. Christian is here as

:29:38.:29:53.

a former champion, that's how he's qualified for the preliminary round.

:29:54.:30:01.

The glory of 2012 will stop -- 2012. But the only tournament win

:30:02.:30:10.

he's had since is in the European pairs later in the same year.

:30:11.:30:24.

He certainly seems happier and much more confident. Things are moving in

:30:25.:30:38.

the right direction. And to correct something we said earlier. It is not

:30:39.:30:42.

Stephen Bunting who waits in the second round. It is James Wilson.

:30:43.:30:46.

That is on Tuesday evening. He seems to be well in control of

:30:47.:31:14.

this second leg. He would have hoped for more there.

:31:15.:31:27.

For the seventh leg in a row, with the darts. Yes! He has only missed

:31:28.:32:12.

one dart at a double all match. He has had three darts at double top

:32:13.:32:34.

and has hit every time. The one miss so far was a shot at 99. That is as

:32:35.:32:42.

close as he has come to a maximum. -- 99. The crowd have really taken

:32:43.:32:50.

him to their heart. That is as good as a maximum. All of a sudden, the

:32:51.:33:03.

standard of play has just got a little hotter. If Kist came here

:33:04.:33:15.

thinking he was going to get an easy passage into the first round, he

:33:16.:33:16.

knows better now. He will be back. He has had some

:33:17.:33:44.

trouble on 88. He will have been pleased to hit

:33:45.:34:23.

that. Kist. Still everything going with the throw. Good start by

:34:24.:34:29.

Shimizu. The only leg where we could have

:34:30.:34:45.

seen a break was in the third leg of the first set when Kist missed six

:34:46.:34:55.

darts at a double. Ever since then, the advantage of throwing first has

:34:56.:35:06.

been large. Here we go. Kist keeping the pressure on. If he breaks here,

:35:07.:35:15.

he levelled the match. -- he will level the match.

:35:16.:35:35.

Louise Peters can enjoy the darts this afternoon having won yesterday.

:35:36.:35:43.

Her boyfriend keeping his fingers crossed. He has left tops when he

:35:44.:35:51.

comes back. Another impressive leg from the debutante. He has not

:35:52.:36:05.

missed it yet. This four 813 dart leg. -- this is for a 13 dart leg.

:36:06.:36:17.

You would do well to see a guard that was more in the middle of that

:36:18.:36:23.

double 20 bed than that one. His finishing has been devastating. He

:36:24.:36:31.

has won five legs, had six darts at a double. His finishing percentage

:36:32.:36:36.

at the moment is 83%. You do not see that very often. Nine legs into the

:36:37.:36:47.

match. Now, if he can break the throat here, all of a sudden Shimizu

:36:48.:36:56.

becomes favourite to win the match. That was a big 140 from Christian

:36:57.:36:57.

Kist. 60 and 62 start from Shimizu. -- 60,

:36:58.:37:10.

to start from Shimizu. Christian Kist keeps giving

:37:11.:37:53.

opportunities. He is on a finish at least.

:37:54.:38:02.

Still no treble this leg. Finally he gets one.

:38:03.:38:19.

Hot favourite to win this second set.

:38:20.:38:29.

More so now. No pressure applied at all. Six darts at least at 70.

:38:30.:38:50.

I would not imagine that would be a costly error. Any finish will do for

:38:51.:39:08.

Shimizu. Finally he has left one. He will not be coming back. Kist hits

:39:09.:39:15.

the double ten. Levels the match and makes it ten legs with the darts.

:39:16.:39:25.

Ten entertaining legs and we are still no closer to knowing who will

:39:26.:39:30.

be going through to the first-round against James Wilson.

:39:31.:39:48.

Shimizu's girlfriend watches on. She is on the telly!

:39:49.:40:15.

Hiroaki did come over to take part in the world Masters in Hull. He was

:40:16.:40:22.

beaten in that event by Robert record. Kristian failed to make the

:40:23.:40:30.

last 40 tournament. He did the Richie George in the Grand Slam of

:40:31.:40:34.

darts but failed to make it out of the group in -- that also included

:40:35.:40:43.

Adrian Lewis. Not making much impression on this leg, Christian

:40:44.:40:49.

Kist. For all the optimism about how well he was playing, he is being

:40:50.:40:53.

given a real game here. Yet again it looks as though this

:40:54.:41:51.

will go with the darts. A couple of wayward darts. That was better.

:41:52.:42:17.

Hiroaki's finishing has been absolutely magnificent. Six out of

:42:18.:42:40.

seven so far. Fancy dress is always the order of

:42:41.:43:08.

the day. And a chance for a new double act. Kist and made up!

:43:09.:43:59.

The level of scoring has really dropped off when neither player does

:44:00.:44:07.

not have the darts. Hiroaki here, 43, 99, 38, not able to make any

:44:08.:44:15.

impression or put any pressure on Christian's throw.

:44:16.:44:34.

Not much pressure on Christian Kist, who is trying to make it 12 legs on

:44:35.:44:39.

the spin with the darts. well, I tell you what, they have a

:44:40.:45:24.

prize here for the best ANSI dress of the day. That has to be the early

:45:25.:45:32.

favourite, doesn't it? -- best fancy dress.

:45:33.:46:26.

Well, he gets the treble. He's on a finish. Is this the leg where

:46:27.:46:37.

Christian Kist can finally break the throw? No, not this time. Only 60.

:46:38.:46:58.

So, favourite to go with the darts again. Oh, this is extraordinary!

:46:59.:47:19.

Some of the best finishing we have ever seen from a first timer. Seven

:47:20.:47:34.

out of eight. Seven out of eight for Shimizu as you say. Christian on the

:47:35.:47:39.

other hand has only hit double top once and has had for attempts. --

:47:40.:47:52.

four. It puts the pressure on Christian. Shimizu knows that if he

:47:53.:48:03.

can get to the stage where Christian needs a double top, he will pretty

:48:04.:48:05.

much when the leg. Kirsten looked kind of relaxed

:48:06.:48:40.

backstage before the game. Not so much now. I think her feeling was

:48:41.:49:02.

that Shimizu would never beat Kist, but you never know now. Again, just

:49:03.:49:19.

unable to apply the pressure. 14 four double top. Again, he's missed

:49:20.:49:32.

it. Trouble 20, treble 18 and bull's-eye. There is one. He doesn't

:49:33.:50:07.

need this. That is 14 legs in a row with the throw. Seven for each

:50:08.:50:14.

player. For the third set in a row, we go to a decider. An excellent

:50:15.:50:25.

start by Shimizu. Kist really needs to reply in kind. This is the treble

:50:26.:50:44.

with all three darts. The second is good and the third is good. A 135 to

:50:45.:50:58.

start this leg. What a cracking match this is. Might a laudable

:50:59.:51:15.

attempt to expand this tournament win in more international

:51:16.:51:22.

qualifiers? Shimizu has certainly more than justified his presence

:51:23.:51:38.

here. Bull for the set, wow! This is just great. Brilliant darts from

:51:39.:51:50.

Shimizu of Japan. A 12 dart leg and he takes a set lead against the 2012

:51:51.:52:02.

champion. And here comes Kist, you can't draw breath here. Another set

:52:03.:52:13.

and the man from Japan has got Christian Kist on his bike.

:52:14.:52:27.

There is the bull's-eye and there is a reaction.

:52:28.:52:47.

If ever there was a game that would underline Bobby's old maxim, it is

:52:48.:52:54.

this one. Have a look in the difference of the averages.

:52:55.:53:06.

Christian Kist is well ahead. "Trebles for show, doubles for

:53:07.:53:07.

dough." I cannot remember seeing a match at

:53:08.:53:20.

the Lakeside where a player has been as dead on the doubles as Shimizu.

:53:21.:53:36.

Extraordinary. And one of those was able is I! -- a bull's eye! He

:53:37.:53:51.

hasn't hit a 180 yet, he's just hit everything else.

:53:52.:53:58.

Now, how about this? This could be the first break of the probe. A real

:53:59.:54:10.

chance. Trouble 19, which he likes. -- treble. Oh, he's missed the big

:54:11.:54:24.

20. Takes a little pressure off Christian Crist -- Kist. That could

:54:25.:54:41.

be costly. 15 four double top, which he hasn't missed all day. Now he's

:54:42.:54:50.

missed it. Double 10. The finishing line just doomed. It made those

:54:51.:55:01.

doubles a little harder to hit and Christian Kist has been there and

:55:02.:55:04.

done it and finds a 55 when he needs to. Is that a turning point?

:55:05.:55:29.

16 legs in a row with the darts. Has that ever happened before? It

:55:30.:55:42.

probably has at some stage in the distant past, but it is a real

:55:43.:55:44.

rarity. A very quiet start to this leg from

:55:45.:56:10.

both players. Shimizu needs to find some scoring or Kist will start

:56:11.:56:17.

taking advantage. A 41 and a 36 he started with. But Kist can take

:56:18.:56:30.

control of the leg and essentially Nick the darts. -- nick the darts.

:56:31.:57:04.

Is it just playing on his mind? An interesting grip, isn't it? He just

:57:05.:57:12.

dropped his finger underneath. So, 16 legs in a row with the

:57:13.:57:50.

darts, double tops to end that run. Yes. For the first time in a set,

:57:51.:57:58.

there is a bit of daylight. He's had no trouble holding his own

:57:59.:58:41.

throat so far, providing he does that now... -- his own throw. No

:58:42.:58:53.

question that those two missed doubles affected Shimizu. He had a

:58:54.:59:01.

dart at double top and a dart at double 10. He just had to hold twice

:59:02.:59:24.

to win the match. He's only had one score over 100 since then, Shimizu.

:59:25.:59:41.

There is this that. -- the set. We are into a deciding set. It is the

:59:42.:59:47.

least this match deserves. But again, significantly, bearing in

:59:48.:59:52.

mind what has preceded this match, it is Shimizu who has the row. Not a

:59:53.:59:55.

good start with it. -- the throw. Front 2-2, you do need to win this

:59:56.:00:08.

set by two clear legs. A unique sporting venue. Chandeliers

:00:09.:00:35.

lit up by an excellent opening game on the second day at Lakeside 2014.

:00:36.:00:56.

Kist can really punish Shimizu here. He is not down to a finish though. I

:00:57.:01:18.

think it was those two missed darts at doubles... It has fazed him.

:01:19.:01:35.

He needs this 140. There is no margin for error. Treble 17 would

:01:36.:01:57.

leave double 12 from here. Here is a chance for the former champion. No

:01:58.:02:13.

problem. For a legs in a row for Christian Kist. -- for legs. And he

:02:14.:02:17.

is heavy favourite from here. And to underline the size of the

:02:18.:02:42.

task facing Hiroaki, Christian has one nine out of nine when he has had

:02:43.:02:50.

the darts. -- he has won. All he has to do is hold twice and he is

:02:51.:02:54.

through this awkward preliminary round tie into the first round

:02:55.:02:58.

proper. Shimizu's scoring has deserted him.

:02:59.:03:07.

He seemed to be surfing a wave of hitting double after double actor

:03:08.:03:28.

double. The wave crashed to the shore with the missed double top and

:03:29.:03:34.

the missed double ten. Since then, he has not won a leg. He has not hit

:03:35.:03:42.

a treble in nine darts in this leg. Way back. Even the double four from

:03:43.:03:51.

Christian Kist there does not afford. This is the 20th leg of the

:03:52.:03:58.

match. Many of the games that Hiroaki plays will not go that far.

:03:59.:04:03.

The heat of the Lakeside stage, the pressure as well. The atmosphere,

:04:04.:04:09.

being in the world Championships for the first time. Many contributory

:04:10.:04:14.

factors taking their toll. Kristian is well in control. -- Christian

:04:15.:04:24.

Kist. It would be nice if he could hit a maximum to take on with him.

:04:25.:04:31.

-- to take home with him. I thought that was it. I really did.

:04:32.:05:02.

-- to take home with him. I thought that was

:05:03.:05:19.

-- to take home with him. I thought within one leg of the first-round

:05:20.:05:32.

-- to take home with him. I thought he has had to work really hard. The

:05:33.:05:38.

You even imagine it will be to Christian Kist. And he is

:05:39.:06:06.

You even imagine it will be sightseeing rather than the

:06:07.:06:09.

first-round of the agenda now for Hiroaki and his entourage. His

:06:10.:06:15.

presence here has been fantastic. This has been a really entertaining

:06:16.:06:20.

game. There is no doubt that the rising star from the land of the

:06:21.:06:26.

rising Sun will be back here again. Let's hope so.

:06:27.:06:35.

You never know, there may be life in this match yet. Just maybe.

:06:36.:06:52.

Obviously he needs this leg and the next one just to stay alive. First

:06:53.:07:00.

thing first. Hold your throat. He has still only been broken twice in

:07:01.:07:06.

the match, but the last two time see-through first. Not on a finish.

:07:07.:07:17.

And Christian Kist will be. The smile has gone.

:07:18.:07:27.

Oh, dear. He knows that this could be his last start at Lakeside this

:07:28.:07:34.

year. -- last dart. This is for the match. He didn't get

:07:35.:07:56.

the treble he wanted. He needs this. It would raise the roof.

:07:57.:08:05.

He misses double top again. He has left the door slightly ajar. You

:08:06.:08:30.

just never know in darts. You never know.

:08:31.:08:40.

No! Not this time. And Kist with another chance to

:08:41.:09:05.

close it out. And we go on. You would imagine he will go for and

:09:06.:09:07.

double top. Can he hit the big four? Good on you, Hiroaki! He has held.

:09:08.:09:29.

But he has got to break the throw. Andy has not managed that at all,

:09:30.:09:36.

all day. Still the odds overwhelmingly in Christian Kist's

:09:37.:09:42.

favour. And he starts with a 137. He is not letting those missed doubles

:09:43.:09:49.

affect him, it seems. But has that given Shimizu a lift? Can he find

:09:50.:09:53.

his scoring again? Better darts. That was not what he needed. Kist

:09:54.:10:28.

can breathe a little easier. He needs a big one here. And he has

:10:29.:10:57.

not got it. 41 leaves him double nine adrift. Kist with the darts.

:10:58.:11:06.

Kersten still does not look relaxed. Her man has been in a game, but

:11:07.:11:10.

ultimately a game that he seems destined to win. Yes, we thought

:11:11.:11:31.

that in the last leg. Go on, do it! He is having a long think. Does he

:11:32.:11:37.

want a maximum? He has got the maximum! The biggest cheer of the

:11:38.:11:47.

day. Even Kersten appreciates that. But it could be too little, too

:11:48.:11:53.

late. He has missed again at double top. Surely not? Surely not?

:11:54.:12:14.

He would just hope that Christian Kist's inability to hit double

:12:15.:12:23.

top... He had said! He wins. He is into the first round. What a match.

:12:24.:12:32.

What a battle. And what a gracious loser. Hiroaki Shimizu's first

:12:33.:12:43.

Lakeside adventure comes to an end. Christian Kist is through to the

:12:44.:12:46.

first round proper. We have had fun watching it.

:12:47.:12:59.

Ladies and gentlemen, what an entertaining debut. The man from

:13:00.:13:06.

Japan, Hiroaki Shimizu! And the former champion is on his way again,

:13:07.:13:08.

Christian Kist! That crowd reaction tells you

:13:09.:13:25.

everything. It is one of the strangest performances you will ever

:13:26.:13:32.

see on the stage. Shimizu did himself proud. It is Kist to move

:13:33.:13:38.

through into the first round. -- who moves through.

:13:39.:13:45.

Bobby, where do we start with Hiroaki? When he had the darts, he

:13:46.:13:53.

was like Phil Taylor. When he didn't, he was like Liz Taylor! I

:13:54.:14:09.

have not seen it in any match... Kist muster wondered what he had.

:14:10.:14:16.

After that, when Kist had the throw, he hit his first seven doubles. I

:14:17.:14:22.

thought it would not emerge easy. But he didn't. It is the unknown.

:14:23.:14:27.

You have never seen him play. You don't know if he is any good. He is

:14:28.:14:32.

great and his doubles. I wouldn't like to play him on the doubles. Was

:14:33.:14:38.

he so hell-bent on holding his own throat that the first party had

:14:39.:14:42.

against the throw, he could not get up for them? I did laugh a few

:14:43.:14:53.

times, I will be honest with you. He was all over the shop, wasn't he? It

:14:54.:14:58.

was like he was throwing a hand grenade. And the next minute he was

:14:59.:15:02.

perfect. It was unusual and it was entertaining. It is the unknown.

:15:03.:15:09.

These guys out there can play darts. Not great scoring wise, but

:15:10.:15:23.

finishing wise... As you say, the average was right down. But he did

:15:24.:15:28.

himself to the crowd will stop where Ralph is this guy going to get a

:15:29.:15:32.

chance to play in a major tournament? He wouldn't be able to

:15:33.:15:37.

afford it. And he can come on and do things like when the first set like

:15:38.:15:54.

this! He's got the body and the expression, this crowd love that. I

:15:55.:16:02.

felt a little bit sorry for Kist. But he kept at it and he came

:16:03.:16:12.

through at the end. This is the moment Rob Walker has been waiting

:16:13.:16:16.

for four years, he is fluent in Japanese. I'm certainly not, but

:16:17.:16:24.

Rachel is. This guy has won a whole army of supporters. The ovation when

:16:25.:16:29.

he came back here was astounding. Rachel, can you ask him how he

:16:30.:16:33.

managed to keep his nerve on the stage? He made such a great effort.

:16:34.:16:49.

Firstly, he wanted to enjoy this game. And he wanted all the audience

:16:50.:17:05.

to enjoy it as well, so he's really happy. Way going to show him his

:17:06.:17:11.

180. He had to finish with a 180! On the third dart, because the crowd

:17:12.:17:46.

really wanted him to hit 180, he went there and he did it. He thought

:17:47.:17:52.

it was good. He has done himself and Japan proud. Many congratulations.

:17:53.:17:58.

We really hope that we see you back at Lakeside again. This guy is an

:17:59.:18:07.

absolute superstar. He wasn't having that handshake at all! What did you

:18:08.:18:14.

say to him? Well, he's won our hearts but Christian Kist won the

:18:15.:18:19.

match. He's had injuries and problems but he's come back. I

:18:20.:18:28.

thought he wasn't throwing high enough on the treble. Not the same

:18:29.:18:37.

player that he was, nowhere near. But he's done the job today. 11 legs

:18:38.:18:48.

with the dark in his hands, knees having to play against that. -- the

:18:49.:19:00.

darts in his hands, he's having to play that. He kept at it, that is

:19:01.:19:08.

his job will stop you didn't play as well as he knows he can play. His

:19:09.:19:18.

finishing was spot on. Let's have a look at how the first round draws

:19:19.:19:22.

are coming on. There are preliminary matches before the first round and

:19:23.:19:28.

we still have a view either as on the screen. -- either ors.

:19:29.:19:50.

Darryl Fitton is a very good darts scorer but his doubles let him down.

:19:51.:20:09.

But he could do it. Well, we got Robbie Green and Richie George

:20:10.:20:18.

coming up. Always popular here. Still waiting to see from the

:20:19.:20:22.

qualifiers about first round opponents. James Wilson has been in

:20:23.:20:34.

all the tours, he's been a semifinalist, finalist, I've seen

:20:35.:20:40.

him in England, he's always in the last four. He won his first

:20:41.:20:48.

competition a month ago so he's broken the ice. He's come here as a

:20:49.:20:58.

master. He is a very good player. And of course we have just seen

:20:59.:21:07.

Christian Kist beating Shimizu, who one is all over. Let's look at the

:21:08.:21:13.

babies. There is one woman to beat. Back let's look at the ladies.

:21:14.:21:25.

Anastasia Dobromyslova is up next. There is no other World Championship

:21:26.:21:29.

are women so it is a great platform for the sport. There are six or

:21:30.:21:37.

seven debutants. We've already lost Trina Gulliver said that was a

:21:38.:21:49.

shock. Julie Gore is great. I think any of them could win. But Anastasia

:21:50.:21:55.

has that bit extra. Her finishing and her scoring are very good. If

:21:56.:21:59.

she puts them together, they won't beat her. What about Karin Krappen?

:22:00.:22:05.

She's been away and now she is back again. Well, she was world master a

:22:06.:22:12.

few years ago, she played well. But I don't think she will beat

:22:13.:22:20.

Anastacia. She tried to make it in the men's game and she came back

:22:21.:22:23.

here and she's only lost once on this stage. Last year, her finishers

:22:24.:22:35.

were as good as any man. As I said, Richie George will be taking on

:22:36.:22:38.

Robbie Green but we concentrate now on the ladies draw and we had a act

:22:39.:22:43.

of a man on the stage who looks up to every player at the Lakeside will

:22:44.:22:52.

stop ladies and gentlemen, this is the Lakeside World Championships. We

:22:53.:22:59.

continued the ladies competition and Wellcome the three times reigning

:23:00.:23:02.

England Masters champion, the three-time reigning Lakeside

:23:03.:23:08.

champion, it is Anastasia Dobromyslova!

:23:09.:23:46.

three-time reigning Lakeside champion, it is Anastasia

:23:47.:23:46.

Dobromyslova! David Cameron is out. Bobby for

:23:47.:27:15.

Prime Minister! I don't think he would like the seat. Definitely not.

:27:16.:27:31.

So, Karin, struggling in this first leg. Making it easy for Anastasia.

:27:32.:28:14.

Well, she's starting off where she left off last year. What a player,

:28:15.:28:27.

this young lady. Winning that first leg against the darts, as well.

:28:28.:28:36.

Last day, Anastasia beat her opponent in the quarterfinals,

:28:37.:28:45.

including a 144 checkout. Trina Gulliver was seen off in the

:28:46.:28:52.

semifinals. Lisa Ashton was vanquished in the final as Anastasia

:28:53.:29:04.

retained her title. A few nerves heading back to the big stage. She's

:29:05.:29:19.

been missing for three years. One thing on a side is big game

:29:20.:29:29.

experience is -- she is a former winner of the world dart/ B, she has

:29:30.:29:33.

won the world Masters since then as well. -- World Darts Trophy. I think

:29:34.:29:57.

this is a bigot asked then she can handle will stop but let's see. --

:29:58.:30:15.

this is a bigger shot than she can handle, but we'll see.

:30:16.:30:39.

The Chancellor Karin Krappen against the throw. She has to take it. And

:30:40.:31:08.

she has! OK. Well, they say darts is all on the day. Could this be a good

:31:09.:31:15.

day for Karin? Takes the first leg and that was the dart that did it.

:31:16.:31:25.

She has not found her range yet, as she? -- has she?

:31:26.:31:45.

I think it is fair to say that last year there was an air of

:31:46.:31:52.

invincibility around Anastasia. She came into the Lakeside not just on

:31:53.:31:57.

the back of winning at the previous year, but in good form. Only three

:31:58.:32:04.

tournament wins in 17 of the last 12 months. That area of invincibility

:32:05.:32:09.

has, to some extent been eroded. The world champion. Hoping to defend

:32:10.:32:27.

it with pride. That puts well ahead now. -- puts

:32:28.:32:46.

for a well ahead. A big visit this. She needed the

:32:47.:33:37.

treble 17. Anastasia under a little bit of pressure here.

:33:38.:34:00.

She is giving it away, Dobromyslova. She has got it! She holds her

:34:01.:34:28.

throat. Successive legs were Karin Krappen, known as the Dutch dolphin.

:34:29.:34:37.

Everything effectively with the throw up to this point. I don't know

:34:38.:34:45.

where the dolphin came from but there are a lot of bubbles on her

:34:46.:34:46.

shirt. It has already been a successful

:34:47.:35:06.

weekend for the Dutch female contingent.

:35:07.:35:26.

Tony Martin. He will be pleased with that. Tony is Anastasia's husband. I

:35:27.:35:39.

have seen him go through the pain over many years. A good player

:35:40.:35:53.

himself, Tony. He has played in the championship.

:35:54.:36:00.

Both players on 160 after 12 darts. Anastasia could not take it out,

:36:01.:36:09.

which gives Karin and opportunity. Karin with an opportunity for this

:36:10.:36:39.

first set. Oh, problems. Problems. Now then. He may not be smiling

:36:40.:37:36.

after this. It is in! Her husband seemed more pleased than she did.

:37:37.:37:49.

Absolutely delighted. Getting there! And again he will be cheering. Oh,

:37:50.:38:03.

dear. One out of nine doubles hit for Anastasia is the story of the

:38:04.:38:09.

first set. She has missed seven darts at doubles. It is so difficult

:38:10.:38:19.

to defend. I think in total Trina Gulliver had eight titles.

:38:20.:38:55.

It is all quiet up there. No high scores. Very nerve wrecking.

:38:56.:39:10.

Well, Minnie mouse will be coming shortly. Watch out. Just giving her

:39:11.:39:20.

a ring! I am disappointed. I would have thought mighty mouse's

:39:21.:39:24.

superpowers extended to telepathy. You wouldn't need to text somebody.

:39:25.:39:32.

Everybody is doing it now. That has spoiled my day. She will be hugely

:39:33.:39:44.

disappointed with the distance with which she missed that, Anastasia.

:39:45.:39:51.

Another chance for Karin. Not this time.

:39:52.:40:05.

They are not hitting those doubles. This may not be heard day. Could it

:40:06.:40:19.

be this young lady's date? -- day. The nerves are creeping in all over.

:40:20.:40:23.

You wonder how crucial that will be. It is more exciting than finishing!

:40:24.:40:46.

Yes, last! Relief for Anastasia. Finally

:40:47.:41:07.

hitting a double. It was her sixth attempt at a double in that lake

:41:08.:41:12.

alone. It was a crucial leg. If Karin won that, it would have been

:41:13.:41:17.

against the throw. Karin would have been a setup and a break-up. Yes, I

:41:18.:41:23.

think she could certainly go to town now. That really did help. Hitting

:41:24.:41:31.

that double. Good response though from Krappen.

:41:32.:42:02.

She is finding her range better, Brom are slow.

:42:03.:42:12.

She pushed it through hard through the air. -- too hard. Karin Krappen

:42:13.:43:13.

will be coming back for double top. Good pressure applied by Anastasia.

:43:14.:43:25.

The pressure is telling on Karin. You cannot afford, against a

:43:26.:43:28.

three-time world champion, to miss as many doubles as she has in this

:43:29.:43:36.

second set. Emphatic punishment from Anastasia Dobromyslova. She breaks

:43:37.:43:44.

the Karin Krappen throat and is two legs up in this second set. Yes, she

:43:45.:43:58.

has been let off a little bit here. That was the finish. And that was

:43:59.:44:08.

the smile. There are years, Steve bunting. We're waiting to see the

:44:09.:44:15.

number one seed. Overwhelming favourite with the bookmakers as

:44:16.:44:19.

well. He is in the top half of the draw. It seems the easier. I say

:44:20.:44:32.

seems. You never know. V1 -- he won the wing Mao world Masters this year

:44:33.:44:38.

and never dropped a set through the tournament. Never been done before.

:44:39.:44:40.

That is the form he is in. Settling down a little. 170 is a

:44:41.:44:51.

finish. Karin Krappen coming back for 88.

:44:52.:45:57.

That is to save the set. Still a chance. She certainly missed the

:45:58.:46:32.

double. Karin is bust. She knows what she needs now. Oh, look at

:46:33.:46:58.

this. No score. OK, I'm sure this one is going in. And it does. A

:46:59.:47:16.

smile from Anastasia. The message was clear from Tony. Just keep

:47:17.:47:17.

concentrating. One set apiece. Quick change. Like a

:47:18.:48:07.

relay race, just passing it on. Seven legs of darts in this match so

:48:08.:48:13.

far and in six out of those seven, both players have had shot at

:48:14.:48:19.

doubles. The problem Karin had in that second set, her finishing

:48:20.:48:25.

letting her down. She did not hit a set. She had chances to take all

:48:26.:48:45.

three legs and she lost all of them. Here today, the nine time world

:48:46.:48:59.

champion. I'm sure her world record will never be beaten. Well! Avenue

:49:00.:49:21.

although Mrs, what a finish. Her husband is dumbfounded! -- after all

:49:22.:49:40.

those misses. Those 13 missed darts at doubles in the second set are

:49:41.:49:53.

behind her now. Anastasia replying in kind. Back in the treble. And

:49:54.:50:13.

another! This come from? Brilliant. They seem to have speeded it up,

:50:14.:50:38.

maybe that's why. Well, if she takes out an 87, the champion is in real

:50:39.:50:54.

trouble. How costly will be? -- will that be? Oh, no! No score. 20 for

:50:55.:51:21.

double top, and she's missed it as well. No score. Here we go. Double

:51:22.:51:50.

10. Yes, right in the corner! Karin's husband knew she should have

:51:51.:51:53.

had that one. There it is. She's got to forget about the last

:51:54.:52:11.

and concentrate on the game. No need to switch there, she could

:52:12.:52:53.

have stayed on the 20s. Now, the pedigree of the champion really

:52:54.:53:02.

coming to the fore. Yes, she's been allowed to as well.

:53:03.:53:17.

Great crowd being entertained over the last couple of days.

:53:18.:53:34.

The ladies do command respect. All eyes on the 19th here. Went for the

:53:35.:54:04.

bulls eye and hit the single ten, which wasn't the worst option in the

:54:05.:54:39.

world. Nerves. Unlucky. Double 10. That's the one. Yes, deep depths. --

:54:40.:54:55.

breaths. It was the break of throw that she needed. Double 10 has been

:54:56.:55:08.

kind to work. -- to her. If she holds here then she is through.

:55:09.:55:22.

A seasoned veteran on the Lakeside stage. He is only 20. Finishing line

:55:23.:56:41.

in sight for Anastasia. Karin needs a big score. It doesn't look like

:56:42.:56:55.

it's going to happen. Double 16. Rarities. -- there it is. She is the

:56:56.:57:08.

first seed in the women's tournament to make it through to the second

:57:09.:57:12.

round. Karin fought valiantly but too many missed doubles in that

:57:13.:57:15.

second set did for her. A terrific tussle, ladies and

:57:16.:57:29.

gentlemen. Betsy it for both of them as they lead -- they leave the

:57:30.:57:46.

stage. Karin Krappen and Anastasia. She is rude to the former -- she is

:57:47.:57:51.

rude to the quarterfinals. Well, Bobby George, we saw a glimpse

:57:52.:58:15.

of what we expect from Anastasia, but really she did not find the form

:58:16.:58:22.

we thought she would. She played terribly, to be honest. I've never

:58:23.:58:27.

seen are playing that bad. She is a really good scorer will stop all the

:58:28.:58:36.

darts were going below the trouble. -- treble. It was a bit boring, to

:58:37.:58:47.

be honest. You didn't know who was going to win and then she bucked her

:58:48.:59:03.

ideas about all stop -- up a bit. She won't play as badly as that

:59:04.:59:07.

again all tournament - if she does, she will be out. I've never seen a

:59:08.:59:12.

play that badly in this championship or even elsewhere. She's always

:59:13.:59:16.

consistent and reliable. It's a shame, really. But she's done their

:59:17.:59:25.

job, shall be happy. Let's head down to hear from Anastasia who is with

:59:26.:59:33.

Rob Walker. You barely know how to lose at this venue but you had to

:59:34.:59:40.

dig deep there. Yes, every year, from the beginning I knew it would

:59:41.:59:44.

be difficult. I know how good Karin is. You needed the double 10. I

:59:45.:59:56.

can't even remember when I'm there. I just have to do what I have to do.

:59:57.:00:05.

Sometimes, it doesn't matter how pretty it is as long as you get over

:00:06.:00:10.

the line. You know what you're talking about, don't you! Not as

:00:11.:00:17.

much as you. That was one to beget about. You know you've got to art

:00:18.:00:28.

your game. -- up your game. Tomorrow at nine o'clock day will see me down

:00:29.:00:31.

there at the practice board, definitely. Are you confident you

:00:32.:00:37.

can add to your collection? Of course I do. I'm the only person who

:00:38.:00:45.

can stop me. If I don't feel confident. I have to believe in

:00:46.:00:47.

myself. No one has ever said that to Rob

:00:48.:00:58.

Walker before! She booked her ideas up, we got to see what she is about.

:00:59.:01:05.

That is somebody who will take out her mid-finishes when she needs to

:01:06.:01:11.

to win the game. She did struggle. The double 10 got her out of

:01:12.:01:15.

trouble. She hit it at the right time. She was unlucky a few times

:01:16.:01:22.

not to hit it. She hit the last set of doubles and she won. Overall, a

:01:23.:01:26.

bad performance but a good result. You can get in touch with any BBC

:01:27.:01:32.

sport programmes, including the darts. He is on Twitter, believe it

:01:33.:01:37.

or not. It does not know how to work it but his wife does it. And the

:01:38.:01:41.

Facebook tag is the same as the Twitter tag for the BBC. When you

:01:42.:01:47.

want to get in contact, you can. We will move onto the next match here

:01:48.:01:50.

at the Lakeside, only halfway through. Next up is Bobby's son who

:01:51.:01:56.

made his debut here four months into playing last year and reached the

:01:57.:02:00.

semifinal. His opponent is formidable, Robbie Green is very

:02:01.:02:06.

focused but Richie George has had other things on his mind. It is nice

:02:07.:02:16.

to be back, I did not have much pressure getting here this year. I

:02:17.:02:19.

feel more relaxed than the first time but I did all right last year.

:02:20.:02:23.

But I feel comfortable, relaxed. It is nice to be back. I put a lot of

:02:24.:02:30.

effort in at the beginning of the year, had a baby in July, Edward, so

:02:31.:02:36.

had a few months off. I did not start playing much until September

:02:37.:02:40.

so it took a few months to get back into it. I am putting the others in

:02:41.:02:48.

now so it is coming together again. Hopefully I can do a bit better than

:02:49.:02:58.

last year. I am all right! I get a good 12 sleep every night. My Mrs

:02:59.:03:04.

does all the work mainly. He is getting to six months now so he is

:03:05.:03:08.

starting to get a bit of character in him. A bit like me. Which is

:03:09.:03:13.

good, nothing like the mum! I'm joking. I give it more for him and

:03:14.:03:21.

her now, I've got my own little family so I've got to grow up a bit.

:03:22.:03:31.

Same hospital, same room, same Doctor, same midwife. Rooms opposite

:03:32.:03:39.

when we first went in. He had his, she went off and then my wife went

:03:40.:03:43.

in. A long three days at the General Hospital. It was all right in the

:03:44.:03:47.

end. It would have been good if they were on the same day it would have

:03:48.:03:51.

been a bit strange, but 23 hours apart, so near enough. The old man

:03:52.:03:59.

is probably the worst. He loves it, he does. But is nice to see. Edward

:04:00.:04:07.

has got little Robert Haswell. He has a lot of work on his hands. A

:04:08.:04:17.

lot of people have not got so I am privileged to have that around me.

:04:18.:04:25.

Darts is an easy game to play but a hard game to play well. The more

:04:26.:04:30.

hours you do, it is the muscle memory and the confidence, and

:04:31.:04:34.

hopefully, yeah, last year I did really good. It may not happen this

:04:35.:04:38.

year but it is not the end of the world, there is always next year.

:04:39.:04:43.

That is the way I look at it. He is so laid back at times, your son, he

:04:44.:04:49.

is almost asleep! And a little glimpse of the doting grandfather.

:04:50.:04:52.

Have you mellowed out a bit now? Not really. I can with them all the

:04:53.:05:01.

time. You have got more of the bond. I am not saying anything but you did

:05:02.:05:05.

bring these with you today, that is the first time this has happened. On

:05:06.:05:10.

the oche, I don't know what to expect from Ritchie, you will have

:05:11.:05:15.

to tell me. Like you said, you talked quite well there, it is on

:05:16.:05:20.

the day, if it is OK, if not, you come back next year. Last year he

:05:21.:05:30.

found his feet. Robbie will be formidable, focused, we like him. He

:05:31.:05:42.

is a great player. The two RG! Against each other. This is the

:05:43.:05:51.

hardest prediction. Robbie Green is the favourite but will you still

:05:52.:05:58.

back Richie to win? Obviously I want my son to win, obviously. I hope it

:05:59.:06:07.

doesn't lose. But... I think he has got his work cut out. Can I say it

:06:08.:06:14.

that way? That is perfect. No problem, grandfather. Let's get more

:06:15.:06:19.

live .com the BBC as we pass over to our MC. He went to Alton Towers and

:06:20.:06:24.

was only allowed on the teacups. Here is Little Richard Ashdown.

:06:25.:06:31.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2014 Lakeside World Championships here at

:06:32.:06:38.

the whole of world darts. We now introduce a former world Masters

:06:39.:06:43.

finalist, the 2012 Belgium open champion, the number four seed, it

:06:44.:06:46.

is Robbie Green! We now introduce an international

:06:47.:08:15.

open finalist, a Lakeside world semifinalist last year. He is a chip

:08:16.:08:19.

off the old block, it is Richie Rich, Richie George!

:08:20.:08:27.

He may be a father but he has the mother of all challenges this

:08:28.:09:15.

afternoon, Richie George against Robbie Green. Athos Alexander is

:09:16.:09:19.

joined in the commentary box by a man still to throw his first darts

:09:20.:09:21.

this year, Scott Mitchell. Yes, he pleased everyone including

:09:22.:09:34.

his old man with a run through to the semifinals on his debut last

:09:35.:09:37.

year. Since then he has become a dad. With thanks to Scott in the box

:09:38.:09:47.

with me. It is significant time away from the oche, stepping up to the

:09:48.:09:52.

nappy, has it had a detrimental affect on his. ? It is the fourth

:09:53.:09:57.

seed Robbie Green who starts as hot favourites this afternoon. Since

:09:58.:10:00.

reaching the quarterfinals last year, he has reached three ranking

:10:01.:10:05.

semifinals and two finals, but not since 2012 in Belgium as the man

:10:06.:10:09.

they call Kong been crowned king. Maybe, just maybe, this is the place

:10:10.:10:15.

for a major coronation. How do you see it, Scott? I think I probably

:10:16.:10:23.

see it pretty much the same as Bobby sees it. Robbie is definitely the

:10:24.:10:27.

favourite. Ritchie will have to find some of that form from last year to

:10:28.:10:35.

getting through this match. And we are under, it is Robbie Green who

:10:36.:10:37.

has the darts in this first leg. How will he be feeling? He will be

:10:38.:10:51.

pleased that that 60, nice and sweet, the first dart, settles you

:10:52.:10:57.

down. I was chatting to him half an hour or so ago, Robbie Green. This

:10:58.:11:02.

is his fifth appearance at Lakeside, never been beyond the quarterfinals,

:11:03.:11:08.

which he reached last year. We always hear it, it is a special

:11:09.:11:12.

atmosphere on that special stage, and however many times you are here,

:11:13.:11:17.

there are butterflies that you don't get elsewhere. Is that right?

:11:18.:11:22.

Definitely, it is a tournament that is not the same as any other

:11:23.:11:25.

tournament we play in. You come in the driveway, it is special as soon

:11:26.:11:30.

as you drive in, the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. We know

:11:31.:11:35.

that this is our one time of year that we get to shine, and you don't

:11:36.:11:40.

want to fail. This is live on BBC Two, it is Sunday afternoon, and,

:11:41.:11:46.

being favourite brings its own pressures. Particularly with this

:11:47.:11:52.

game because Robbie and Ritchie get on so well together. I know back in

:11:53.:11:56.

the summer Robbie did a presentation down here, and Ritchie went and

:11:57.:12:00.

picked him up, took him back to George Wall, a couple of days

:12:01.:12:03.

practice then went to the British Open together. They are good mates

:12:04.:12:04.

as well. He has left himself double 16 if he

:12:05.:12:20.

comes back. He will come back. He will be looking to set it up now.

:12:21.:12:31.

Neither of those were really close. An early chance for Richie George.

:12:32.:12:44.

Yes! First leg, Richie George. Second leg, Ritchie to throw first,

:12:45.:12:50.

game on. A good start for Ritchie, nice and confident. First dot, a

:12:51.:12:54.

double, always makes you feel good. How will Robbie be feeling? He will

:12:55.:13:00.

feel he has given that leg away but all you can do is try to forget it

:13:01.:13:04.

as fast as it happened will stop otherwise it weighs on your back.

:13:05.:13:20.

We saw 16 leg in a row with the darts in a match this afternoon.

:13:21.:13:27.

Happy thing that happened before? It was extraordinary, it doesn't often

:13:28.:13:37.

happen that way . A great game, Christian Kist Genscher ragout of

:13:38.:13:50.

Japan. He will be a bit disappointed with that. You don't want to do that

:13:51.:13:54.

when you have got the darts. Especially having just won a leg.

:13:55.:14:02.

Absolutely. Now Robbie is on for a 180. Not far away!

:14:03.:14:13.

Looked to have had a slip out of his hands. I am sure he will be back to

:14:14.:14:20.

the table for a wide on the cloth! He needed to hit something big there

:14:21.:14:31.

to pressure Robbie. That bounced off the barrel, I think

:14:32.:14:47.

he caught the other flight. Ball missed doubles out of four for

:14:48.:15:05.

Robbie Green, make it five out of five. Seven out of seven.

:15:06.:15:19.

A chance to steal the leg that. You feel he needs the double 10.

:15:20.:15:32.

This is to level the first set at one legged APs. Already, he has

:15:33.:15:43.

missed nine doubles. -- one leg apiece. More than 1000 people in

:15:44.:15:56.

here, but you can hear Ruth, bless her. She won't thank me for saying

:15:57.:16:04.

that. I think Rob's daughter Chelsea was standing with her as well.

:16:05.:16:12.

Robbie told me he's been practising with Alan Norris. Alan said, Robbie

:16:13.:16:20.

has been ripping my head off in practice. Then he complained about

:16:21.:16:26.

the lights around the board. There is always something with you guys!

:16:27.:16:34.

Perhaps I should get practising him -- with him before Tuesday. A good

:16:35.:16:52.

switch there from Green. One leg apiece in the first set.

:16:53.:17:08.

Ritchie is way back on 338, just not binding that rhythm at the moment.

:17:09.:17:36.

It puts the pressure back on. 140 it is. The pressure is on. Trouble 18

:17:37.:18:02.

leaves tops. -- treble. Another missed dart at a double. Yes! There

:18:03.:18:15.

was a shake of the head where Robbie wasn't impressed with himself. Tell

:18:16.:18:29.

me, when it starts to go wrong, how do you turn it around? There is

:18:30.:18:33.

almost no chance to give yourself a proper talking to. You have to keep

:18:34.:18:40.

leaving that you are playing well enough to get those chances and it

:18:41.:18:47.

is just a case of taking them. The sports psychologist and

:18:48.:18:53.

psychiatrists, did they ever come into it? Yes, some of us have them

:18:54.:19:07.

and they do work. The first maximum of the match - the first, we hope,

:19:08.:19:11.

of many. Six starts from 129 for the set.

:19:12.:19:42.

That would have left double 18. He will be back. Richie George adding

:19:43.:19:56.

some much-needed pressure. A maximum of his own? These are set points.

:19:57.:20:03.

There is the double top that secures the first set. No messing from

:20:04.:20:10.

Richie comedy wants to straight back in there. That is his temper, that

:20:11.:20:29.

is his pace. -- from Richie, he wants to get straight back in. That

:20:30.:20:36.

is his tempo. How about that? This is the confidence that comes with

:20:37.:20:42.

taking that first step. It gives you a leg up on the game. He starts this

:20:43.:20:57.

game with a maximum. I know that his son is watching at home. I know he

:20:58.:21:05.

will be shouting and screaming at the telly for his dad will stop --

:21:06.:21:18.

his dad will stop --. He will be pleased with dad.

:21:19.:21:32.

Richie is starting to find the range.

:21:33.:21:52.

Haven't had a dart at a double since the first leg. Yes! That is the

:21:53.:22:02.

fourth leg in a row for Robbie Green. These two have been talking

:22:03.:22:11.

about practice, George and his lack of it, having become a dad for the

:22:12.:22:15.

past year, and Robbie Green told me he's been practising for four hours

:22:16.:22:19.

a day. That is what practice does right there, I guess. Robbie is an

:22:20.:22:43.

avid practice. -- practiser. 24 years is long enough to wait, isn't

:22:44.:22:51.

it? It is. If you are new to darts, we're talking about a perfect nine

:22:52.:22:56.

dart leg which was last accomplished here in 1990. But what a leg this is

:22:57.:23:08.

from Robbie Green. A ten darter. That doesn't happen every year. Ten

:23:09.:23:32.

dart leg! Take a bow, Robbie Green. Jamie is sat there, very pleased

:23:33.:23:39.

with that ten dart leg from dad. He's found his range now, hasn't he?

:23:40.:23:44.

I said to him, you know you are the hot favourite to win, and he looked

:23:45.:23:49.

at me and nodded as if to say, yes, of course I am. Richie burst onto

:23:50.:24:00.

the scene at Lakeside last year and just set the place alight. This

:24:01.:24:05.

year, it was always going to be hard bound to come back - with such a

:24:06.:24:10.

tough start against Robbie again as well. However, he did survive seven

:24:11.:24:25.

match dart in his first round match. -- match darts. So he knows what it

:24:26.:24:34.

is like to come back from the blink -- the brink.

:24:35.:24:49.

Both those trebles spell danger for Richie. 64 for a two set lead. He is

:24:50.:25:06.

certainly not missing those doubles now. What is going through Richie's

:25:07.:25:16.

mind right now? We can see what his mum thinks. This is a tough one to

:25:17.:25:31.

watch for the family. To be fair, no one could have lived with Robbie in

:25:32.:25:41.

the last two. 24 darts! Those four hours of actors today are obviously

:25:42.:25:53.

serving him well. -- of practice. There we go again. Maximum number

:25:54.:26:08.

for Robbie Green. Robbie is on fire. Six legs in a row. Fantastic

:26:09.:26:29.

averages there for Robbie Green. 95 stop -- that takes keeping up with.

:26:30.:26:44.

Richie will now try to pressure this 62 of Robbie's. Hasn't missed many

:26:45.:27:09.

of them since the first leg. Richie needs to take this. Ruth is very

:27:10.:27:37.

happy and quite, she should be. I think every player in the first

:27:38.:27:40.

round would like to send a message as to how well they are playing.

:27:41.:27:56.

Robbie has certainly done that. Just for a change, Richie bites back. He

:27:57.:28:13.

has yet to holders broke, though. -- to hold his throw, though. Since

:28:14.:28:23.

then, it has been one-way traffic. When the draw came out, we were all

:28:24.:28:26.

looking forward to this game, and it has not disappointed as. -- us.

:28:27.:28:37.

Definitely a good spirit between the two guys there, showing the

:28:38.:28:43.

friendship. Trouble 17 would have left the bull will stop -- the

:28:44.:29:24.

bull. The first leg ease once in the opening leg of the match. -- he's

:29:25.:29:36.

won since the opening leg. He needs to hold this leg, which is what he

:29:37.:29:41.

has been doing, which has been the problem for him. Already, ready to

:29:42.:29:57.

throw. This is much better from Richie George. He is a rhythm

:29:58.:30:04.

player, so he has upped the pace a bit and is reaping the rewards. They

:30:05.:30:14.

are both witty quick. That's why I thought it would be a good game. But

:30:15.:30:19.

Rob is clinical today. He heads back for a drink of water.

:30:20.:30:32.

Unusually for him he has not found a time plus in three visits. That is

:30:33.:30:40.

what winning a leg can do for you. Ritchie has gone straight back in

:30:41.:30:46.

with ton-40, 55 was a bit unlucky. Such a momentum sport, this.

:30:47.:31:00.

In the second set, no-one touching Robbie Green. Three perfect... Once

:31:01.:31:04.

again. -- three perfect darts. Ritchie to throw first, game on!

:31:05.:31:23.

Robbie Green is a leg away. When you are playing well, as a

:31:24.:31:37.

Robbie is on the big stage, how much fun is it? It is great. I have been

:31:38.:31:44.

lucky enough to do that once in my visits! But it is great. It is not

:31:45.:31:49.

the fact that you are playing well, but that your opponent knows you are

:31:50.:31:54.

playing well. And the crowd loans you are playing well. Absolutely,

:31:55.:31:57.

and they get behind everything you are doing and its birds you on. --

:31:58.:32:01.

it spurs you on. 180!

:32:02.:32:17.

Dominant darts from the man they call Kong.

:32:18.:32:25.

180! Terrific response from Ritchie! I'm

:32:26.:32:29.

not going away, he says, you will have to actually beat me! That is

:32:30.:32:33.

what makes him special, he never gives up.

:32:34.:33:24.

the match! Robbie Green! Was it ever in

:33:52.:34:15.

steam-rolled Richie George. World-class darts. He is a big

:34:16.:34:20.

presence at the Lakeside. Bobby, that is what we saw in the

:34:21.:34:38.

early rounds from Robbie Green last year as well. When he is scoring he

:34:39.:34:42.

is formidable, his hitting average is above 95, and we are seen ten

:34:43.:34:50.

darters. He played very well there. Ritchie didn't score like he can

:34:51.:34:56.

score so he was chasing all the time and when he did have a shot the

:34:57.:34:59.

pressure was on him. He was not in the game at all, to be honest.

:35:00.:35:05.

Robbie is very much a form player. When he clicks, he clicks. He will

:35:06.:35:11.

have back-to-back leg. Ten. Followed by a 14. , there is not much you can

:35:12.:35:16.

do when you are up there. You have got to play as well as him, Ritchie

:35:17.:35:21.

was not doing it. He did not play as well as he can play. It is that

:35:22.:35:31.

little bit more you need when you are playing a guy like this. You

:35:32.:35:42.

look at his average, Oprah and tonne for every finish. One dart better

:35:43.:35:49.

every set and he could win this title more than once, it is just

:35:50.:35:53.

that finish where he gets above 33%. If you can score and finish

:35:54.:36:01.

then you will win the title. 45 is a good average. He hit the one 80s

:36:02.:36:08.

when it counted. Ritchie just wasn't in the game at all. The 100 and

:36:09.:36:20.

80s. We said after the first leg, when you clicked, you clicked. To be

:36:21.:36:26.

fair, I think we blew each other out in the first set. Neither of us

:36:27.:36:31.

played like we can. Ritchie struggled throughout. I felt like I

:36:32.:36:38.

was waiting for him to clicks, as I know he can, and he just didn't. I

:36:39.:36:42.

kept beating him to the punch all the time. What about you up there,

:36:43.:36:48.

throwing 100 and 80s, having ten dart legs? It is good to watch. It

:36:49.:36:56.

is not so nice when it is against you. That is why we are on that

:36:57.:37:06.

stage. It is nice when you do it but you have to concentrate on the next

:37:07.:37:11.

leg and getting the game won. The next leg, you could be in the same

:37:12.:37:16.

thing. You must have a lot more confidence this year because last

:37:17.:37:20.

year was a breakthrough year for you, you through sensational darts.

:37:21.:37:25.

It is usually a finalist or champion that has to put you out. This year I

:37:26.:37:30.

have a different type of preparation. I have actually

:37:31.:37:36.

practised this year! It is a start! I feel fresh, because I have never

:37:37.:37:44.

done a lot of the tournaments from September to December and I feel

:37:45.:37:49.

fresher for it. Coming into this, this is the one you want. It is not

:37:50.:37:54.

worth winning all of those and they coming here and flopping. In front

:37:55.:37:58.

of the cameras, we have to perform. The last couple of set is were

:37:59.:38:05.

better than the first. It is a little strange winning a game here

:38:06.:38:09.

at the Lakeside in the World Darts Championship and then having to come

:38:10.:38:12.

up and speak to the daddy! It is a bit awkward. We are good mates and

:38:13.:38:17.

the way, I go down and stay at Bobby's house and he looks after me

:38:18.:38:23.

very well. We have some good chance over the breakfast table. He is an

:38:24.:38:28.

absolute gentleman. Don't come round no more! You are feeling good, you

:38:29.:38:38.

will keep practising four hours a day, not to let the occasion get to

:38:39.:38:47.

you? As I say, I feel fresher and it is no good throwing your rest darts

:38:48.:38:55.

in the first game. I want to be consistent and play well throughout

:38:56.:38:59.

and beat the man in front of me in each game. You did that today in

:39:00.:39:03.

emphatic fashion. Let's hear from the user down there, Richie George.

:39:04.:39:07.

He is inconsolable, crying in the corner. Rob Walker is with him. He

:39:08.:39:13.

wants his money, not his daddy. We will not hear from him. Well done to

:39:14.:39:18.

you, through to the second round. Let's recap everything that has gone

:39:19.:39:22.

on in the first round and the qualifiers and everything so far

:39:23.:39:26.

today. The first game was sensational, Hiroaki Shimizu,

:39:27.:39:32.

qualified out of Japan, he had never been on this stage before. We

:39:33.:39:35.

thought he might have been blown away by the man who once two years

:39:36.:39:39.

ago, Christian Kist. It was a strange game of darts, Christian one

:39:40.:39:45.

but Shimizu hit nine doubles in a row and one over the crowd. Shame he

:39:46.:39:51.

had to say goodbye. Anastasia Dobromyslova, female

:39:52.:39:55.

champion, she has one the last two years. She had an off day but still

:39:56.:39:59.

scraped through against Karin Krappen. She heads to the familiar

:40:00.:40:05.

place of the quarterfinals. And Robbie Green, as we have just

:40:06.:40:10.

witnessed, moated against Richie George, winning in straight sets

:40:11.:40:14.

against George Junior. Averaged well over 90, one in three checkouts and

:40:15.:40:23.

810 darters for good measure. The final game this afternoon is

:40:24.:40:29.

Gary Robson, celebrating 13 times at the Lakeside, 3/4-finals. Last year

:40:30.:40:34.

was a debut for Ron Meulenkamp, so another one today where we are not

:40:35.:40:38.

quite sure what to expect in this final match. Rob Walker has been

:40:39.:40:42.

talking to both of the men to investigate more.

:40:43.:40:46.

We are here at the players hotel and the atmosphere is already beginning

:40:47.:40:50.

to rock and roll. Nothing gets the juices flowing more than an England

:40:51.:40:54.

against Holland clash. Gary Robson and one Meulenkamp. Gaby, your 13

:40:55.:41:02.

dear, you are not at all you? I really am! You still get the buzz

:41:03.:41:10.

here? Three times a quarterfinalist. Do you feel this could be your

:41:11.:41:14.

year? I have done more practised this year than I usually do, lost

:41:15.:41:18.

some weight and stuff so hopefully it will come good at the end. But I

:41:19.:41:22.

lost the last two and I have never lost three on the trot. Ron, you had

:41:23.:41:28.

an unlucky debut a couple of years ago but you are back, you have

:41:29.:41:33.

grown, you have matured. Second time lucky against his fellow? Two years

:41:34.:41:38.

ago was my debut but I have no preparation. My son was in hospital.

:41:39.:41:46.

But now I am feeling fine and ready. Gary, you have known you are facing

:41:47.:41:50.

this guy for a while. How much are you looking forward to getting back

:41:51.:41:56.

on that stage? Indefinitely, the last couple of years out in the

:41:57.:42:02.

first round was disappointing. The atmosphere is always electric. All

:42:03.:42:08.

set for a great encounter. Let's see a handshake between the two, England

:42:09.:42:12.

against Holland. Gary is a lovely guy, one of the

:42:13.:42:16.

nicest on the circuit and every year he tries something different.

:42:17.:42:21.

Psychologist one-year, practice and XJ, don't practice the next year. He

:42:22.:42:32.

tries everything! But the thing is, he comes back every year, he

:42:33.:42:40.

qualifies. Ron is a good player, the Dutch are tidy players because they

:42:41.:42:47.

play all the time, 16 boards in one bar. He was a bit overawed last year

:42:48.:42:53.

but it was his debut so we will atone for that. Interesting matchup.

:42:54.:43:00.

I have to go for the experience this time. 13th time at the Lakeside so

:43:01.:43:05.

he knows what it is like to get introduced on that stage.

:43:06.:43:14.

Ladies and gentlemen, the 2014 Lakeside World Championships here at

:43:15.:43:21.

the home of world darts. We now introduce a former world darts

:43:22.:43:26.

Trophy champion, the reigning Granite city open champion, it is

:43:27.:43:30.

Gary Robson! We now welcome a Dutch

:43:31.:44:22.

international, former French Open champion. It is the bomb, one

:44:23.:44:25.

Meulenkamp! -- Ron Meulenkamp! It is a Gen X and against you and

:44:26.:45:14.

exuberance - just like in the commentary box! -- age and wisdom

:45:15.:45:35.

against youth. Undoubtedly Gary Robson is aimed part of the

:45:36.:45:44.

furniture, but his opponent is not to be underestimated. He returns to

:45:45.:45:48.

the Lakeside after failing to qualify for the event last year.

:45:49.:45:53.

Certainly feels he is in about a placement to leave any was on his

:45:54.:45:59.

last visit in 2012, when he lost to Gary Stone. Will you be able to do

:46:00.:46:05.

himself justice this time around? Gary is a big favourite with the

:46:06.:46:11.

crowd, but he has to get past this first round. That has been his daily

:46:12.:46:18.

on many an occasion. Such a brilliant player, certainly not one

:46:19.:46:25.

the titles he should have over the years. -- won the titles. Ron

:46:26.:46:40.

Meulenkamp to go first. Off we go. A good start. Great expectations here.

:46:41.:46:59.

That's unusual. He really wants to get on with the job.

:47:00.:47:21.

A good start from the Dutchman. 130 followed by 140. This is not add --

:47:22.:47:48.

not bad from Robbo. He's lost some weight and started wearing it rings

:47:49.:47:53.

as well, from the looks of it. -- earrings.

:47:54.:48:14.

We had that good start, a 130 and 140, and he's followed it up with a

:48:15.:48:19.

36 and 45. Very interesting. It wasn't to be. How is this

:48:20.:49:05.

finishing? Double 10. This is the problem. A good start from the

:49:06.:49:30.

youngster. Gary Thompson from west Yorkshire beat him at this stage

:49:31.:49:37.

last year. So slow, I don't think he liked the pace in that match. The

:49:38.:49:46.

darts are flowing this time. You certainly feel it would suit

:49:47.:49:53.

Robbo's natural pace much more if he was playing against a player quicker

:49:54.:50:01.

than Ron Meulenkamp. He might be the bomb but it takes some time to

:50:02.:50:03.

detonate. I like that! There is Petra, Ron's partner. All

:50:04.:50:44.

the wide single friends seem to be this year. -- wives and girlfriends.

:50:45.:50:54.

I've even brought mine. No cooking for me!

:50:55.:51:07.

145 four Gary as he looks to hold his first leg. The crucial last

:51:08.:51:33.

third dart. All eyes on 20 double top for Robson. He made it difficult

:51:34.:51:41.

with the first dart double-time, still a finish. Always a relief to

:51:42.:51:59.

get the first one on the board. Robbo is managing that, both legs

:52:00.:52:06.

going with the throw so far. Only two left-handers have ever won the

:52:07.:52:09.

World Championship here at the leg side. -- the Lakeside. And Les

:52:10.:52:21.

Wallace won it in a kilt! Good marker, that one. So, it is

:52:22.:52:34.

evenly matched. Holland has produced some players

:52:35.:53:00.

over the years. A great nation for darts. Nine excellent Dutchman in

:53:01.:53:15.

the men's tournament alone here this year. Ron Meulenkamp is hoping to

:53:16.:53:36.

join them. Such a relaxed throw, have you noticed? Nice and easily

:53:37.:53:54.

through. Just have a look. There we go. Straight out.

:53:55.:54:10.

Left-hander, 220. That would put pressure on Robson's finish. A

:54:11.:54:25.

chance here for Gary against the darts. A fraction away. Ron

:54:26.:54:47.

Meulenkamp on Shanghai 20s. Shanghai it is! Plenty of applause. A lot of

:54:48.:55:00.

people from Holland here, supporting their players. 180! They will also

:55:01.:55:18.

celebrate that maximum. His second of the match. Both the legs that

:55:19.:55:27.

he's lost, he has had the darts at doubles. Everything is still going

:55:28.:55:36.

with the throw a to this point. -- the thrower. I am impressed by Ron

:55:37.:55:50.

Meulenkamp. He seems to hold his call, nothing distract them. -- his

:55:51.:56:11.

cool, nothing distracts him. Yes! That was perfect. Absolutely

:56:12.:56:24.

brilliant. That was his first 180. It leaves him with 161 here. It is

:56:25.:56:51.

the bull. A big chance for Meulenkamp. 88 for the set. He

:56:52.:57:07.

misses it! Not the best double, double 17. He's got the chance. Both

:57:08.:57:21.

on the wire! Cool as a cucumber, this lad. Pulled that one. He knows.

:57:22.:57:54.

Gary is back. Can Robbo punishing? -- punish him? No. Busted. He has

:57:55.:58:19.

missed two darts at 88, react 44. Here we go, double 4. That will do

:58:20.:58:37.

it! He is already carrying on. I think he's rushing it a bit, don't

:58:38.:58:42.

you? He is playing much more quickly than any was when he first came up

:58:43.:58:48.

on stage in the first couple of legs. Understandable that it will

:58:49.:58:52.

play on his mind. Eight successive darts at doubles missed, which would

:58:53.:58:57.

have given him the first set. All the years to do here is hold and he

:58:58.:59:05.

has that first set anyway. -- all he has to do. It's the sets that count.

:59:06.:59:25.

Just the advantage of the throw, Meulenkamp. Oh, yes. Robbo is going

:59:26.:59:40.

to be shaken up here. 180! What a difference that makes. No answer.

:59:41.:00:03.

Trouble 20. -- treble. He is smiling away.

:00:04.:00:17.

That was below. So, chances here. Can't finish now.

:00:18.:01:04.

Game, shot, and the first set, Ron Meulenkamp! Second set, first leg,

:01:05.:01:19.

Gary to throw first. Game on! That is the first building block for the

:01:20.:01:23.

Dutchman. He failed to take a single set in his previous appearance on

:01:24.:01:27.

the Lakeside stage when he lost to Gary Stone a couple of years ago.

:01:28.:01:32.

Look at this, the averages. Exactly the same. Unbelievable, that. We

:01:33.:01:49.

were not expecting it, we were expecting Robbo to really go to

:01:50.:01:56.

town, but giving Meulenkamp credit, he is in his zone.

:01:57.:02:04.

I would like to see this one go all the way. Look at the scoreline, 261

:02:05.:02:13.

apiece, it has been like that all the way through. 180! The first two

:02:14.:02:24.

darts, one either side of the bed. A massive gap for him to hit in the

:02:25.:02:25.

middle, which he obliged. He had the darts in that leg, did

:02:26.:02:39.

Robbo. Batman and Bob O'Hear at the

:02:40.:03:17.

Lakeside this afternoon! -- and Robbo. I will give you a laugh. I

:03:18.:03:28.

think you are in the minority! All six legs so far have gone with the

:03:29.:03:35.

darts. He is just dropping short at the moment getting over the wire at

:03:36.:03:42.

the bottom. Notice how he pulls his hand downwards. Robbo goes straight

:03:43.:03:47.

through, it makes a difference. A crucial trouble with the last dart

:03:48.:04:11.

but this is a chance the gallery. -- a crucial treble with the last. But

:04:12.:04:13.

this is a chance for Gary. That would have given him the

:04:14.:04:38.

finish. Missed the single 19, got a three.

:04:39.:04:52.

Trouble 20 will leave him double 16. Missed that as well so Robert will

:04:53.:05:05.

be -- Robbo will be back. And he hit it there in the corner!

:05:06.:05:34.

The crowd applaud! Third leg, Gary to throw first. Game on. Gaby with

:05:35.:05:37.

the break. It is a set you would expect him to

:05:38.:05:55.

win. He started with the darts. Meulenkamp's biggest win came when

:05:56.:05:59.

he was a 17-year-old, he won the French Open back in 2006, which

:06:00.:06:06.

remains is only ranking title. He only looks 16 at the moment! He has

:06:07.:06:09.

what we would call a baby face. Robbo is in the driving seat in this

:06:10.:06:32.

set. We have had some good entertainment

:06:33.:06:49.

over the weekend. Some fantastic games. More seeds out than a sale at

:06:50.:07:01.

a garden centre. OK, I will take that one.

:07:02.:07:22.

Put him right back there to save this set.

:07:23.:07:54.

Game, shot, and the second set, Gary Robson! A third successive leg!

:07:55.:08:06.

Here's biggest checkout so far. Tidied it -- tied it up at one set

:08:07.:08:12.

of bees. He deserves all of the applause that he got there.

:08:13.:08:19.

Third set, first leg, Ron to throw first, game on. This is his 13th BDO

:08:20.:08:35.

World Championship. Is 14 looking for him?

:08:36.:08:40.

Not just that, it is his 12th consecutive year here. When you

:08:41.:08:50.

consider he has not been seeded that many times, he has had to qualify

:08:51.:08:54.

year after year, it is some achievement. He is a great player.

:08:55.:08:58.

There are some great players from around Northumberland. That it is

:08:59.:09:04.

all on the day, how you feel when you keep going through. But when you

:09:05.:09:09.

have had 12 chances at it, you feel it is not going to happen, but this

:09:10.:09:14.

year I feel it really could happen. A great guy.

:09:15.:09:31.

Certainly had his moment in the past, Robbo. Read quarterfinals,

:09:32.:09:41.

2007, 2009, again two years later, and all lost in a deciding set.

:09:42.:09:47.

Trouble breathing a gift heartbreak was 2011, beaten 5-4 by Martin

:09:48.:09:53.

Phillips -- probably the gift heartbreak.

:09:54.:10:13.

Now then, Meulenkamp. Maybe just the opportunity.

:10:14.:10:22.

Petra slumps disconsolately. Another break, Robbo has taken it. Four leg

:10:23.:10:49.

in a row. Meulenkamp had his chance. So did Robbo, and he took it. Game

:10:50.:10:53.

on. This is good for Robbo but there is

:10:54.:11:05.

a long way to go. That was the double back took it.

:11:06.:11:17.

Little to choose between the two players in terms of the scoring. No,

:11:18.:11:27.

it is just the doubles. Meulenkamp had his chance, did not take it.

:11:28.:11:31.

Robbo took it. The same in the first leg. Makes for good entertainment,

:11:32.:11:48.

though, Jim. That's the main thing. We can see Gary's accuracy is almost

:11:49.:11:54.

twice that of Meulenkamp. And it is the Lakeside that provides it.

:11:55.:12:01.

Comfortable, families, children, it's magic.

:12:02.:12:21.

Prodigiously talented as a youngster, Ron Meulenkamp. Makes the

:12:22.:12:29.

fact that he won the French Open as a 17-year-old, he was also the

:12:30.:12:31.

winner of the junior darts championship.

:12:32.:12:49.

Robbo was nodding his head in the back ground there.

:12:50.:13:08.

Game, shot and the second leg, Gary Robson! He has hit his last four in

:13:09.:13:15.

a row, five legs in a row for Gary. Ron Meulenkamp had an excellent

:13:16.:13:28.

start but, since then, the Bomb has gone off. It is a bouncing bomb this

:13:29.:13:34.

one. And this man here is bouncing. A reminder that each set is the

:13:35.:14:00.

first to three legs and the matches in the first round stage of the best

:14:01.:14:07.

of five sets, first to three sets. A very short discipline, it really is.

:14:08.:14:26.

Petra is biting her nails. Is that what it was? Ultimately. She looked

:14:27.:15:06.

petrified. Trying to remain impassive now, she

:15:07.:15:21.

is. OK, Gary, take it away, two

:15:22.:15:26.

trebles. He cannot finish now so Robbo coming

:15:27.:15:50.

back looking at 70. To take a two set to zero lead.

:15:51.:15:59.

six legs in a row and he has turned this around. He took off like a

:16:00.:16:17.

Boeing jet. Yes! This is great fun for both. -- for Robbo.

:16:18.:16:30.

Great finishing from Gary Robson. After some nervous darts at doubles

:16:31.:16:38.

in that first set, his finishing has been pretty good, he had the 106

:16:39.:16:43.

checkout in the last leg of the second set, hit a double 18 at the

:16:44.:16:47.

best time of asking and in that third set, he only had three darts

:16:48.:16:51.

at doubles and hit them all, wins the set and leads to- one. And it

:16:52.:16:57.

has been doubles that have let him down over the years.

:16:58.:17:08.

13 years, he has been endeavouring to reach the top. Is this his year?

:17:09.:17:16.

That is the big question that must be at now. -- must be asked now.

:17:17.:17:26.

He has not lost a single leg when he has had the darts. This one is going

:17:27.:17:39.

the same way at the moment. Petra once again rubs her hands.

:17:40.:18:10.

That will do, it is enough. A good finish.

:18:11.:18:21.

He thought about the treble 19 there but then thought again.

:18:22.:18:38.

For a seventh successive leg. I think he went for the bull's-eye.

:18:39.:19:09.

Leaves himself 58 but here's a chance for Ron against the darts.

:19:10.:19:17.

Ron to throw first, game on. Only the second time he has hit a double

:19:18.:19:35.

at 14 attempts. He is too good a player to be missing those. What a

:19:36.:19:38.

talent he has. I have seen those flashing light on

:19:39.:19:53.

a police car but not in the Lakeside.

:19:54.:20:09.

He looks like he is losing control at the moment. It is getting through

:20:10.:20:16.

to him, he has got no breathing space.

:20:17.:20:20.

He had the break and an opportunity for Robbo to break back

:20:21.:20:29.

straightaway, 130 ahead after six darts H.

:20:30.:20:36.

180! That has put a whole and that, oh, dear, this is a great one. A big

:20:37.:21:11.

chance for Robbo. Games shot and the second leg. Never

:21:12.:21:38.

give up! Great recovery from Ron Meulenkamp. It is pandemonium here,

:21:39.:21:43.

what a finish. The young against the old. There it is, what a beauty.

:21:44.:21:49.

Gary to throw first, game on. Don't say you will let this one loose now,

:21:50.:22:01.

Robbo. Oh, is it getting through to him? Keep your head up high.

:22:02.:22:09.

You have to give it to him, this youngster. A real edge and flow in

:22:10.:22:18.

this game. When you lose six games in a row which costs you two sets,

:22:19.:22:23.

you would be forgiven for suffering from mental disintegration but it

:22:24.:22:27.

has not happened at all, great response in this fourth set from Ron

:22:28.:22:33.

Meulenkamp. There he goes again. He looks so comfortable.

:22:34.:23:00.

What a fightback this is, applause everywhere, what a match. His fourth

:23:01.:23:17.

maximum. He has given himself a great chance now in this fourth set.

:23:18.:23:28.

He might even have six darts at 80. When he comes back. This fourth set

:23:29.:23:34.

has gone quickly for him. All, perfect, two darts. The

:23:35.:23:54.

standing crowd applauding, is it going to be another one against the

:23:55.:23:55.

head for Robbo? Wow, Jim. The last time that these

:23:56.:24:15.

two met, Ron Meulenkamp was victorious, that was in the

:24:16.:24:18.

semifinals of the Belgian open back in 2011. The first time they met

:24:19.:24:28.

just after that, Gary whitewashed his young Dutch opponent. And this

:24:29.:24:33.

one going right to the wire. The trouble is, what is going through

:24:34.:24:41.

Robbo's head? He has been in this position before.

:24:42.:24:52.

He has really come good has Meulenkamp. In these latter stages.

:24:53.:24:56.

You cannot take it away from him. Is this destined to be Robbo's

:24:57.:25:25.

eighth first round defeat at the Lakeside? With a score like that,

:25:26.:25:29.

not at this stage, Jim. That was a good dad to get over the

:25:30.:25:59.

top of the first one. -- a good start. Against the darts, he is on a

:26:00.:26:09.

13 darter. Can he follow up, time, time, 135, double 16 for a leg

:26:10.:26:18.

against the darts in the decisive set, no problem at all. The momentum

:26:19.:26:24.

swings back the way of the man from Cramlington. Big Robbo just needs to

:26:25.:26:33.

hold twice and he is through. He is back in them. Right back in them.

:26:34.:26:40.

He has got a second wind. And he is sailing now but this kid is also

:26:41.:26:53.

back into it. This is one to relish. Very little to choose between the

:26:54.:27:08.

two men in the scoring. This is brilliant. I have not sat down yet.

:27:09.:27:45.

Oh, dear! This match has really turned this place around. You could

:27:46.:28:04.

have got another three in there at least. All in the corner.

:28:05.:28:10.

They are waiting for it and they have got it! Are, what a leg of

:28:11.:28:41.

darts that was! Absolute brilliance from both players but Robbo takes

:28:42.:28:50.

it. Miss of -- listen to them go mad and it is not over yet. Third leg

:28:51.:28:55.

and it is wrong to throw first, game on. -- it is Ron to throw first. A

:28:56.:29:02.

massive missed darts from Ron Meulenkamp and it looked as if he

:29:03.:29:06.

would not be punished and Gary Robson takes out 143.

:29:07.:29:12.

OK, let's settle it down now. This is great, Jim, isn't it? He is not

:29:13.:29:23.

going down without a fight, great character from the young Dutchman

:29:24.:29:24.

and it is Robbo who is one leg away. It is a leap year! He has got the

:29:25.:29:50.

angel of the North on the back of his shirt, I bet she was dancing

:29:51.:29:55.

with delight when she saw that. Go in. But still, Ron is not giving up

:29:56.:30:01.

the ghost. He won't finish on this one, he will

:30:02.:30:19.

be coming back. Can Gary set himself up a decent

:30:20.:30:37.

finish if Meulenkamp fails to take out 104?

:30:38.:30:59.

Some way away from double top, truth be told. Might be on the wrong end

:31:00.:31:05.

of a Shanghai surprise here. Game, set, and the match, Gary

:31:06.:31:29.

Robson! Absolute brilliant! Jim, was that not a match and a half?

:31:30.:31:32.

Magnificent play from Gary Robson will stop 143 and 120 checkout in

:31:33.:31:42.

his last two leg, Meulenkamp missed darts on them both and Robson

:31:43.:31:49.

punished him. His first round who do is over, he is through! A great

:31:50.:31:56.

match, two to fit finishes to settle the final set. We will send them

:31:57.:31:59.

both off stage. From the Netherlands, Ron Meulenkamp! And,

:32:00.:32:05.

through to the next round, it Robbo, Gary Robson!

:32:06.:32:21.

COLIN MURRAY: He wore his heart on its sleeve, always emotional when

:32:22.:32:31.

Gary Robson is Lakeside. When he began to fire, you really fired. He

:32:32.:32:38.

takes it in five sets over Ron Meulenkamp.

:32:39.:32:47.

Bobby George, for four sets they were so evenly matched, the

:32:48.:32:54.

statistics, and you knew that if somebody -- you knew that somebody

:32:55.:32:57.

had to pull out something magic and Robson did it. The third set -- the

:32:58.:33:09.

double 9 in the third set, from then he was in command. Ron hit more

:33:10.:33:25.

ton-80 's that did not finish. The 143 and the 122 check it. Let's look

:33:26.:33:32.

at the 143, what does this do when you are in a close game and your

:33:33.:33:36.

opponent does this? It takes the wind out of your sails, does it?

:33:37.:33:40.

Yes, when they do that to you, but that is the game. It is no good just

:33:41.:33:48.

scoring, you have to checkout. Don't give them the chance. When he took

:33:49.:33:57.

the lead in the second set, -- in the fifth set, he had the confidence

:33:58.:34:01.

when he got another tonne plus finish, he is thinking, this is less

:34:02.:34:07.

than five minutes ago, bring it on. That is a lovely shot for a dart

:34:08.:34:13.

player. They play on 120 -- they play on the 20s, so the 120 out, he

:34:14.:34:22.

is doing it, I'm glad Robbo did it. Sometimes he practices and

:34:23.:34:26.

practices, never seems to have any luck. He had a bit of luck today. He

:34:27.:34:32.

is a left-handed player, a good school run. A bit short on his

:34:33.:34:38.

finishing. But he is there now, so who knows. One of his finest moment

:34:39.:34:44.

in 13 years, especially the last set. He is talking to Rob Walker.

:34:45.:34:50.

Gary just had a chance to watch the 143 and the Shanghai back. We smile

:34:51.:34:58.

says it all. What a way to finish! Yes, I broke him in the first leg

:34:59.:35:04.

and was thinking, just hold your darts. I got the 143 and thought, he

:35:05.:35:11.

has just done a 142 against me. Silly things go through your head.

:35:12.:35:16.

The first one went in, I took my time, double 16 was just a

:35:17.:35:22.

formality. What did that mean to you? You have had a good run to the

:35:23.:35:25.

quarterfinals three times here but you have also had some early X it

:35:26.:35:29.

and he forced you to produce excellent arrows to get through that

:35:30.:35:35.

match -- early X it. Yes, the first match was scrappy but it went with

:35:36.:35:40.

the darts. I think I won the next six leg. In the next I thought, just

:35:41.:35:46.

hold your darts and you have won it, and he broke the straightaway. I

:35:47.:35:51.

thought, I am in trouble. But then I broke him in the next and it is hold

:35:52.:35:57.

your darts. If it was not for the 143 and the 120, I think you would

:35:58.:36:01.

be speaking to him instead of me. Well, you deserved it. A quick word

:36:02.:36:06.

about the second round match, Robbie Green was great this afternoon. It

:36:07.:36:11.

will be quite some match between the two of you. I am looking forward to

:36:12.:36:16.

it, I am just lucky to be past the first round for the first time in a

:36:17.:36:20.

few years. Top stuff, Cheers. That next round will be against

:36:21.:36:25.

Robbie Green who we saw put in the performance of the day, averaging

:36:26.:36:30.

95, eight ten dart as well. He has the experience to handle it. Yes,

:36:31.:36:36.

but as I always say, darts is on the day. You don't always know what you

:36:37.:36:44.

are going to do. You could come on the next day, same darts, same

:36:45.:36:52.

shoes, same clothes... A little word for Ron Meulenkamp, only 25. Last

:36:53.:36:57.

year he got ducked out 3-0, a lot of treasure will stop a nice fight back

:36:58.:37:02.

here to bring it to three so he should take some encouragement. Yes,

:37:03.:37:10.

he always tries his heart out. He looks a bit bitter to me, as it

:37:11.:37:15.

happens. I think he has been doing some weightlifting. Rather him than

:37:16.:37:18.

others! Let's look at night's matches. We

:37:19.:37:24.

are online from 6pm and on the red button from 8:30pm with four more

:37:25.:37:29.

games, including the oldest man to play at the Lakeside, taking over

:37:30.:37:32.

the record from the man standing beside me. Mike Day, from New

:37:33.:37:36.

Zealand, making his debut at 58 years old. More history in a day of

:37:37.:37:39.

history at the Lakeside. years old. More history in a day of

:37:40.:37:49.

Then the American Jim Whitmire, who faces the experience of Garry

:37:50.:37:52.

Thompson, we like to call him the Recliner. Then the ladies, it is

:37:53.:37:58.

Fallon Sherrock against Rilana Fridays. Then we have double Dutch

:37:59.:38:06.

in the first round matchup. Remco van Eijden beat Barney in the

:38:07.:38:08.

Masters way back in the day. Up until tonight, Bobby, you have a

:38:09.:38:21.

couple of hours to be the oldest swinger in the Lakeside! We saw

:38:22.:38:26.

earlier with a Japanese qualifier, some of the qualifiers will not cut

:38:27.:38:30.

it at this stage, but the stories behind them are great and yet again,

:38:31.:38:35.

the oldest player ever to take to that stage. That is what it is

:38:36.:38:41.

about. But after the old, take out of the old 1s. He will be all right.

:38:42.:38:45.

Who dares wins, not who cares wins. We have got it tough time left over

:38:46.:38:52.

so we will give you some extra action, Latvia against Greece. We

:38:53.:39:00.

would join this, remember it is best five sets, and it is two sets to one

:39:01.:39:06.

to the young Latvian, just one away from victory.

:39:07.:39:12.

The crowd went to see a bit more of this. We have all been supporting

:39:13.:39:19.

Greece to some extent in the last few years. I went to see Zorba.

:39:20.:39:38.

It is eight legs apiece. Here is a lake that this man cannot afford to

:39:39.:39:44.

lose. A chance to take control of the lake

:39:45.:40:07.

that Rasmus failed to take. -- that Razma failed to take. Will it cost

:40:08.:40:08.

him? At 140 brings him back into it. Yes! Fifth leg, game on! Look what

:40:09.:41:05.

it means! He his having a go at himself! There is nobody else

:41:06.:41:20.

there! This is good, very enjoyable. Has a chance here, Razma scored 40

:41:21.:41:26.

with his first visit. Two we would darts, and Michael doesn't take

:41:27.:41:27.

advantage. Michael has really come back to life

:41:28.:41:40.

now. He can't find a treble. When he goes

:41:41.:42:12.

below, he can't get up enough to get into the treble but when he gets the

:42:13.:42:15.

treble he can get the range. Strange, but I just noticed it.

:42:16.:42:22.

Razma with the opposite problem on that visit.

:42:23.:42:46.

Can't finish now whatever he does on his next visit.

:42:47.:42:58.

He will take that, a steady tonne. He has forced themselves back into

:42:59.:43:03.

the match. He has let Razma in here. Oh,

:43:04.:43:48.

disappointment. He never even got a shot at the

:43:49.:44:00.

bull. Double 2 to takers into a deciding

:44:01.:44:12.

set. You can see the pressure in his

:44:13.:45:08.

eyes! But there is the dart at double 1! That gives John Michael a

:45:09.:45:18.

set that takes us into a decider! Fifth and final set, John to throw

:45:19.:45:20.

first, game on. Well, I don't really want to see

:45:21.:45:34.

either one of these go out because they are a credit to this year's

:45:35.:45:35.

championship. No real advantage of throwing first

:45:36.:45:45.

in this deciding set. You have to win by two clearly is.

:45:46.:45:55.

-- clear legs. He is right in the middle of the

:45:56.:46:13.

oche. Looking very despondent with himself. Don't do that, just get on

:46:14.:46:17.

with it. A bit of a lull at the start of this

:46:18.:46:31.

set for Michael, and that is understandable. Mind you, he knew he

:46:32.:46:38.

had a chance in that last leg, maybe that is why he is dejected.

:46:39.:46:59.

Not much to choose between these two.

:47:00.:47:06.

The first finish will be to Michael because 200, you need a lot... And

:47:07.:47:13.

he blocked the bed as well. Yes, he has done it! He will feel

:47:14.:47:56.

better now. Oh, dear. That is great, lovely shot, right in the

:47:57.:47:58.

middle. And he has got the throw. He never looked like winning that

:47:59.:48:14.

leg, did he, Razma? And then a ton 40.

:48:15.:48:22.

He keeps catching the flight. It is just stopping it to go that little

:48:23.:48:34.

bit further up. Yes, good shot. Good cover. He has got a spring in his

:48:35.:48:40.

step again. And so say all of us! Who doesn't

:48:41.:49:47.

love Little Richard? Double 10... He will take that. John Michael loves

:49:48.:49:49.

Little Richard. Brilliant, well done. Third leg is John to throw

:49:50.:49:58.

first, game on. Little Richard, if you are just joining us, does not

:49:59.:50:01.

refer to that Little Richard, it is Richard Ashdown who has just taken

:50:02.:50:11.

over this year as MC at Lakeside. He was our spot in the commentary box

:50:12.:50:24.

for several years. -- our spotter. Razma is looking a bit dejected.

:50:25.:50:43.

That should cheer him up. Study. -- steady.

:50:44.:50:53.

Good recovery, he needed that one. If he can hold here, he will move

:50:54.:51:02.

one leg away. John Michael. He has the habit of coming up short.

:51:03.:51:16.

And failing to recover. Still he has got a finish and 241 is not. This is

:51:17.:51:21.

the opportunity for it. He has done a 126, how about a 141?

:51:22.:51:41.

It can't be done this time. This leaves bull's-eye... Oh,

:51:42.:52:12.

unlucky. So, so near. Yet so far. A big doubt. Can Razma do it?

:52:13.:52:20.

It's there! Game shot and the third leg, Madars Razma. One away. And he

:52:21.:52:33.

has the darts. There it is. Could that be a champion's darts?

:52:34.:52:37.

And in fact, it's only really finding those doubled that sets him

:52:38.:52:49.

apart from John Michael. 53% is his checkout percentage which is

:52:50.:52:55.

excellent. Michael's is 35% which is average.

:52:56.:53:00.

Here we go... Almost here we go. He is a battler, isn't he?

:53:01.:53:50.

He went for the bull with that dart but he is OK. Razma is still on two

:53:51.:54:14.

to two but he won't be after these. -- on 222. It is down to the finish.

:54:15.:54:29.

This is much point, right here. -- match point.

:54:30.:54:46.

He has done eight! -- he has done it. Give pause to these two men on

:54:47.:55:01.

this oche. Latvia, Greece, what an exhibition. Bring them back, bring

:55:02.:55:08.

them all over here now. COLIN MURRAY: He did not have the

:55:09.:55:14.

average that he had the checkout percentage and his coolness in

:55:15.:55:21.

breast year. -- coolness impressed you. It was like a walk in the park

:55:22.:55:24.

for him. The different ways people are, the

:55:25.:55:33.

way they throw at the end of the frame but he was behind first of all

:55:34.:55:36.

in that match. And I thought he would go out because Michael played

:55:37.:55:40.

very well for the first couple of sets but he came back. When you look

:55:41.:55:45.

at the young players coming through, that is normally the right

:55:46.:55:48.

temperament to have, Christian Kist, fairly relaxed, Wesley Harms, dead

:55:49.:55:53.

serious. Even look back at Dave Chisnall who never looked excited.

:55:54.:55:58.

It is the make up. The make-up is different for people. They are

:55:59.:56:01.

probably not like that inside, they probably want their money or

:56:02.:56:07.

something like that but he is so relaxed and like, " do I have to be

:56:08.:56:09.

here? Gert Voss in the first round, that

:56:10.:56:22.

is a hard one. Geert de Vos very tidy, very, very hard guy to beat.

:56:23.:56:29.

Looking forward to that did so much to enjoy, a quick recap of what we

:56:30.:56:37.

saw today. History being made, the first Japanese player at the

:56:38.:56:40.

Lakeside, Hiroaki Shimizu. And he ran Christian Kist close but he just

:56:41.:56:45.

couldn't break the Dutchman's throw, losing out in five sets but winning

:56:46.:56:49.

many hearts. And ladies champion Anastasia

:56:50.:56:55.

Dobromyslova made it into the quarterfinals but only after

:56:56.:56:57.

battling back from one set down against Karin Krappen. Robbie Green,

:56:58.:57:04.

he was an emphatic winner against last year's semifinalist, Ritchie
