Good evening. It is the final day of the Davis Cup tie between Great

:00:32.:00:39.

Britain and the United States. After two days of play, Great Britain is

:00:40.:00:44.

just one win away from a famous victory, but whatever the outcome

:00:45.:00:48.

today, history will be made. The US have only ever come from to rob a

:00:49.:01:00.

rubbers to win. It is 79 years since Britain have beaten the US in this

:01:01.:01:03.

competition, and a cents they have won on US soil. 15 years since Jim

:01:04.:01:14.

career beat Greg Rusedski. But records are there to be broken.

:01:15.:01:22.

The chance for a famous win in America's backyard to reach the

:01:23.:01:27.

quarterfinals of the Davis Cup. James Ward is producing an fantastic

:01:28.:01:35.

performance for his country here. The Americans look shell-shocked,

:01:36.:01:49.

and Britain are one match away from winning against the United States.

:01:50.:01:57.

Drama in San Diego so far, and more to come this evening. Britain on the

:01:58.:02:01.

verge of victory, and the Wimbledon could seal the win, because Andy

:02:02.:02:05.

Murray is first on court today up against Sam Querrey, and the

:02:06.:02:10.

American has only eaten Britain's number one once in six meetings --

:02:11.:02:16.

only beaten him once. James Ward pulled off a heroic win

:02:17.:02:26.

on Friday to put Great Britain two up. Andy Murray's match started just

:02:27.:02:36.

and are go. Murray's tap ticks were to move the big man all around the

:02:37.:02:40.

court and wait for his chance, which he took there. He went on to win

:02:41.:02:51.

that game for 4-3. But the match was levelled once more, and the set was

:02:52.:02:56.

decided by a tie-break. It was tennis of the highest quality, but

:02:57.:03:03.

query was taking his risks. He missed one of the easiest shots in

:03:04.:03:07.

the opening set gift Murray the opener. This was it, an absolute

:03:08.:03:16.

sitter just on top of the net. But Murray was always so strong in the

:03:17.:03:20.

battle, determined to win this for Great Britain. He took the opening

:03:21.:03:27.

set 7-6, and that means they are just two sets away from a

:03:28.:03:29.

quarterfinal place, up against Italy. We will join it live, on

:03:30.:03:35.

serve in the second. Querrey coming out. Our commentators watching this

:03:36.:03:45.

match are Ross Hutchins, Jonathan Lloyd and Jonathan over end.

:03:46.:04:23.

A forehand attack from Querrey into Murray's backhand corner.

:04:24.:05:09.

A perfect demonstration of their of Sam Querrey's strength. One of the

:05:10.:05:39.

biggest serves in the game, certainly one of the biggest

:05:40.:05:44.

forehands. It is movement around the court that is his weakness, and it

:05:45.:05:48.

is what Murray is trying to exploit here. We have seen big serves in the

:05:49.:05:59.

past doing well. Querrey has won tournament on clay, these big guys

:06:00.:06:01.

can be successful on clay. Look at John Isner last year,

:06:02.:06:19.

beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. John Isner missing from the team,

:06:20.:06:48.

making it so different from an American point of view, losing a top

:06:49.:06:53.

ten player. He is out with an ankle injury.

:06:54.:07:26.

That is when it becomes disheartening for Sam Querrey here.

:07:27.:07:40.

He thinks he does everything right, a very good backhand volley, and he

:07:41.:07:48.

expects to have at least another chance in that rally, but Andy

:07:49.:07:53.

Murray has such good feel and court awareness.

:07:54.:08:05.

This is the all-important game number seven. It is critical in

:08:06.:08:13.

terms of how a set can pan out. 77 mph second serve from Murray,

:08:14.:08:55.

short as well. Two big forehands, gets to break point.

:08:56.:09:19.

That is his bread-and-butter serve. It went out wide. He goes there

:09:20.:09:27.

seven times out of ten on the big points. People used to cover it

:09:28.:09:32.

before he improved that sliced serve. It gives him more space out

:09:33.:09:35.

wide. That was the point of the match! And

:09:36.:10:14.

Querrey did really well to stay competitive in that rally after

:10:15.:10:19.

taking a slip and slide, he adjusted rapidly to give himself a chance

:10:20.:10:23.

just there. And what a volley that is. What a lob that was. To get over

:10:24.:10:32.

someone as tall as Sam Querrey from that position.

:10:33.:10:50.

That is some recovery in the game from Murray. Break point down. Three

:10:51.:11:04.

points of absolute class. Trusty movement, and it is valuable to him

:11:05.:11:09.

to have success. A good challenge here from Murray, because Querrey is

:11:10.:11:18.

throwing it at him, and he is having to play some very good tennis to

:11:19.:11:22.

keep himself ahead in this game. This is a very good performance from

:11:23.:11:27.

Querrey after a devastating loss on Friday, this is excellent tennis he

:11:28.:11:32.

is playing. He has gone up a level here, and he has had to to get even

:11:33.:11:37.

close to Andy Murray. It is all mental. It is. How can you change

:11:38.:11:45.

that much in two days? All the pressure that was on, now it has

:11:46.:11:49.

been released, and this game, so much of it is in the head, and that

:11:50.:11:54.

separates the great players. Captain Jim Courier here will have played

:11:55.:12:13.

his part in picking Querrey up. A team meeting, no doubt, last night,

:12:14.:12:20.

and a pre-match chat today. He has spent plenty of time telling him how

:12:21.:12:23.

good he is, and that he can beat anybody when he is firing well.

:12:24.:12:40.

If Querrey can somehow win this match, it will go down to a fifth

:12:41.:12:50.

and final rubber. On the evidence of Friday, you would have to put James

:12:51.:12:55.

Ward down as the slight favourite over Donald Young.

:12:56.:13:12.

There are not many better in the game, a big forehand on all three.

:13:13.:14:37.

Good forehand drive from Querrey, takes them to four all. Querrey is

:14:38.:14:46.

having chance on the Murray serve. He doesn't take take the chances,

:14:47.:14:50.

putting the pressure right back on the British player. That is all he

:14:51.:14:54.

can do, keep building momentum and try and get more opportunities.

:14:55.:15:47.

I'm amazed that Querrey doesn't wear a sweat band. He's like Roddick,

:15:48.:15:58.

never wears a sweat band on his arm. Sweat and it musn't go into the

:15:59.:16:00.

hand. Spoken like a true expert there on

:16:01.:16:17.

sweating issues, Ross. I would have gone by six by this time. You hold

:16:18.:16:24.

the world record, don't you? Game point.

:16:25.:16:33.

Murray 5-4 up, still going for serve. He did serve for the first

:16:34.:16:41.

set, but was broken back. On the way to a try break 4-2 down at that

:16:42.:16:47.

breaker at the changeover. Came out 7-5 ahead. You love that, a player

:16:48.:16:53.

when you can hold a service game that easily, when it gets towards

:16:54.:16:58.

the end of a set. Love serve, you can conserve your energy and not

:16:59.:17:02.

battle to hold on. That was a solid service game there for Murray. He

:17:03.:17:11.

will be telling them the value of the first point in this game to

:17:12.:17:15.

mount the pressure, not give away a cheap point. Play consistently,

:17:16.:17:19.

force Querrey to hit the winner. Super Bowl Sunday. It will be quite

:17:20.:17:33.

something for them here if they could turn this tie around. They

:17:34.:17:40.

only once before have recovered from 2-0 down in a tie to win 3-2 in the

:17:41.:17:43.

Davis Cup, way back in the 30s. UMPIRE: Out! That first point that

:17:44.:18:13.

Ross Hutchins was talking about. Murray is so frustrated there

:18:14.:18:42.

because the hard thing to get right is the length of the lob. He's got

:18:43.:18:46.

that perfect. It's the direction that's let him down.

:18:47.:19:32.

Gave that one away. You very rarely see Murray doing that. Sloppy.

:19:33.:20:07.

It sounded like the chef had thrown his sauce pans out of the kitchen.

:20:08.:20:16.

5-5. It switches back to Murray. Expecting and waiting for Andy

:20:17.:22:29.

almost to just take it up a notch, as we talked about. Whether it

:22:30.:22:32.

happens in the tie-break or this game. Very interesting to see. We

:22:33.:22:37.

know he has that extra gear. Querrey has served well. Any opportunity you

:22:38.:22:50.

just feel shots that will surprise us, not surprise, but make a

:22:51.:22:54.

difference. He played an average game. A couple of strange slot

:22:55.:22:59.

selections. I doubt we will see that this game. Querrey could serve aces.

:23:00.:23:07.

If he doesn't, this game Murray will put pressure on. He doesn't want to

:23:08.:23:10.

go into a tie-breaker. It's dangerous. We saw it in the first

:23:11.:23:15.

one that he snuck out of. Great match, I think, fabulous tennis.

:23:16.:23:39.

The travelling support. Sam Querrey, serving to stay in the set.

:23:40.:24:00.

Leon Smith will be looking for his number one player to impose himself.

:24:01.:24:58.

He knows it too. He really knows it. Top players they are so greedy with

:24:59.:25:05.

every point. It kills them to play a point like that.

:25:06.:25:43.

One more second, please. Thank you. All right.

:25:44.:26:05.

Incredible backhand. On the baseline. He's messed up the high

:26:06.:26:11.

volley. And we're heading for a second successive tie-break.

:26:12.:26:18.

You can have dips in matches obviously. It's strange for someone,

:26:19.:26:25.

of Andy's experience, you don't have that towards the end of a set.

:26:26.:26:32.

That's unusual. He has had a couple of poor service games on the Querrey

:26:33.:26:38.

serve where he doesn't anything. He has to if custody quickly now if

:26:39.:26:42.

he's going to win this tie-breaker. He doesn't want to let the American

:26:43.:26:45.

back into this match, that's for sure.

:26:46.:27:07.

Expect the locals here to really provide that X factor.

:27:08.:27:22.

Excellent point. We haven't seen that backhand down-the-line from

:27:23.:27:50.

Murray too often this match. That just opened the court beautifully

:27:51.:27:56.

for the forehand line. Such a good shot. I wish he would use it more.

:27:57.:27:58.

It's so good. Yep. Not too much emotion from captain

:27:59.:28:35.

Jim Querrey across the weekend. He can sneak this set, we might just

:28:36.:28:40.

see it. Orchestrating to his player to stay

:28:41.:29:07.

on him. Stay attacking. Keep using this aggressive play.

:29:08.:29:15.

Worked well for him that tactic. Murray assisting by dropping a few

:29:16.:29:22.

second serves in short. Oh, just wide! Murray's lacking a

:29:23.:29:36.

little bit of confidence with the volley at the moment, isn't he? He

:29:37.:29:45.

flicked it across court. A heck of an effort there. Just almost got it

:29:46.:29:55.

right. He's not far away. Murray wins his first point on serve, in

:29:56.:30:03.

this tie-break. 4-2, at the change of ends. Exactly as it was in the

:30:04.:30:05.

first set tie-break. Murray won five of the next six

:30:06.:30:13.

points. Crucial words now from the captain.

:30:14.:30:31.

You would pretty much going as far as saying that Querrey has to win

:30:32.:30:40.

this tie-break? Absolutely. Yeah. Barring injury, it's practically

:30:41.:30:46.

impossible to see Murray throwing away a 2-0 lead. 4-2.

:30:47.:31:16.

Long. Querrey, brave again. Once again, came forward, venturing to

:31:17.:31:25.

the net. Over 30 times this match. More than he makes in a tournament

:31:26.:31:27.

sometimes. Querrey is playing a superb

:31:28.:32:24.

tie-break, and he has got four setpoints! He can see the slice, and

:32:25.:32:38.

just nails it. Murray just couldn't deal with it.

:32:39.:33:28.

This tie is not over yet. Sam Querrey starts the American fight

:33:29.:33:44.

back. He has played well all Mac, Sam Querrey. It is very rare to see

:33:45.:33:54.

him that emotional. He is right up for this.

:33:55.:34:05.

This is for a place in the quarterfinals of the world group of

:34:06.:34:13.

the Davis Cup. A stage that Britain hasn't reached since 1986, and it

:34:14.:34:17.

would be some feet if they could get there. These are the results we have

:34:18.:34:25.

had in round one. Japan getting the job done against Canada. Germany had

:34:26.:34:34.

an unassailable lead against Spain. Down the bottom there, Switzerland,

:34:35.:34:40.

3-2 against Serbia. That was over after the doubles as well. And

:34:41.:34:47.

Italy's 3-1 victory over Argentina means that Italy will host the

:34:48.:34:51.

winners of this match in the last eight.

:34:52.:35:02.

It is nice to be even thinking about that stage. Britain's fantastic so

:35:03.:35:16.

not much is against the likes of Tunisia and Turkey and Hungary. Now

:35:17.:35:26.

we are against the big time again. This crowd in San Diego have a role

:35:27.:35:32.

to play now to make Querrey truly believe that he could get something

:35:33.:35:38.

from this. I don't know what you thought, Ross, but to me, Andy

:35:39.:35:45.

looked a little bit flat almost towards the end of that second.

:35:46.:35:50.

There were a couple of service games on the Querrey serve where Murray

:35:51.:35:57.

would normally make you play every ball, and he was making

:35:58.:36:02.

uncharacteristic errors. You can have dips over five sets. That is

:36:03.:36:12.

when the top players bear down and use that presents they have to put

:36:13.:36:18.

their opponent off, and it didn't seem to go that way. It was a

:36:19.:36:24.

strange end to the set. Absolutely. There is an aura among Murray and

:36:25.:36:27.

these top players, and I think Murray would know that. He doesn't

:36:28.:36:33.

expect Querrey to back down, but errors usually come from opponents.

:36:34.:36:37.

That we have to give a lot of credit to this man. He didn't back down, he

:36:38.:36:42.

didn't make errors, and he kept coming forward. Did Murray get

:36:43.:36:49.

lulled into expecting Querrey to miss? He has set the tone. Rallying

:36:50.:37:02.

with a lot of long rallies, Querrey, if he is fit and healthy, he is

:37:03.:37:06.

putting balls away in a different way to Friday.

:37:07.:37:13.

He is a new man, that's for sure, beaten by James Ward in five. And

:37:14.:37:25.

now 1-1 with the Wimbledon to. -- champion.

:37:26.:39:00.

Well, he has made Querrey move on to that backhand side twice there. Two

:39:01.:39:11.

errors coming off the backhand wing. That is the third time in this match

:39:12.:39:40.

that Querrey has taken a little slip, and it really set him back. He

:39:41.:39:45.

probably only lost a fraction of a second, but that's more than enough

:39:46.:39:47.

to lose your way in the point. He would have liked to be back

:39:48.:40:32.

another stride there. I think he was a little conscious of hitting the

:40:33.:40:33.

line judge. Murray apologises, but he has got

:40:34.:40:49.

another break point chance. That is a different Murray. Hugely

:40:50.:41:33.

frustrated with himself for losing that second set, and look how he

:41:34.:41:38.

reacts, bossing his opponent around the court, and immediately getting

:41:39.:41:40.

the break. Look at the net points won from Sam

:41:41.:41:59.

Querrey. He has never coming that much, probably in the whole

:42:00.:42:00.

tournament. And it is a success. That was about an inch off the

:42:01.:43:19.

floor. A great return, too. He serves the majority of server 60

:43:20.:43:52.

or 70% speed, he has a good rhythm of holding serve will .

:43:53.:44:05.

Called good by the line judge, but fault by the umpire, overruling. But

:44:06.:44:17.

he says, it is on the line, but beyond the service line.

:44:18.:45:00.

A brilliant lob from Andy Murray. He wasn't able to backtrack in time.

:45:01.:45:36.

A new phase of the match now, because Murray knows if he can pull

:45:37.:45:43.

clear in this third set, not only will it dampen the spirits of Sam

:45:44.:45:47.

Querrey, it will silence this home crowd.

:45:48.:46:04.

That explains why he strained to get to that defensive backhand.

:46:05.:46:32.

Oh, Andy Murray that's genius! That is just soul destroying. You hit a

:46:33.:46:45.

shot like this. He took this one early. You can't hit it any wet

:46:46.:46:49.

better. Look how far out of the kour court you are was. To direct that

:46:50.:46:54.

from that much pace, from that far back. Unbelievable! It's gone in.

:46:55.:47:01.

Two breaks for Murray in this third set. This is the gear we've talked

:47:02.:47:09.

about. Classy, professional. So impressive from Murray. Waiting for

:47:10.:47:17.

errors and building momentum. Quite brilliant. He's played a few of

:47:18.:47:24.

those brilliant running back hands up the line in his career, hasn't

:47:25.:47:31.

he? Remember one at Wimbledon, key match against Gasquet. Gasquet. The

:47:32.:47:38.

light was dimming, early evening. He ended up on the crowd. Standing on

:47:39.:47:47.

those boards, yep. Get in touch, tweet us at BBC Sport. You can go to

:47:48.:47:51.

sport online as well. We have every base covered tonight. If you're on

:47:52.:47:58.

the move, this match is now live on Radio 5 Live as well. Steve asks,

:47:59.:48:08.

"why is Jim Querrey wearing a suit?" We have been trying to work that out

:48:09.:48:15.

all weekend. "It looks like he's come straight from work." True, I

:48:16.:48:21.

suppose he is at work. Others, "watching Andy Murray playing tennis

:48:22.:48:27.

causes me so much stress." Not as stressful as it once was. I know

:48:28.:48:29.

what you mean, in matches like this. Targeted the weakness. Gone into

:48:30.:49:05.

basic tennis mode. Doing it at such a high level.

:49:06.:49:23.

Sometimes he looks so good on clay. His weakest service. Do you think

:49:24.:49:33.

deep down he believes he can win the French Open? I know with Rafael

:49:34.:49:38.

Nadal. It's not whether we believe it, it's whether he believes it.

:49:39.:49:43.

It's a tough question to know what's in his mind. While Rafael Nadal is

:49:44.:49:49.

on tour, I don't think anyone believes that a healthy Rafael

:49:50.:49:53.

Nadal. You can get past a Rafael Nadal over five sets. Something has

:49:54.:49:56.

to happen in the match for you to beat him. You have to hit every ball

:49:57.:50:01.

as hard as you can. Rafael Nadal has to be off or injured, like he was in

:50:02.:50:03.

the final of Australia. Yeah. Conversation with the umpire. It was

:50:04.:50:14.

definitely in. First serve again. Didn't hit it as clean as he wished.

:50:15.:51:02.

He meant it! Benefit of the doubt. This is just so professional, the

:51:03.:51:26.

way he just got his mind back, after losing that second set. Wasn't a

:51:27.:51:32.

great end to the second set. Three or four games. Immediately, got his

:51:33.:51:38.

mind back on it and just, right away, puts it right back at him with

:51:39.:51:40.

a double break. When he's in a mind set like this,

:51:41.:51:54.

you don't know where to win points. He is kicking you so far behind the

:51:55.:51:58.

baseline. When he has the opportunity he is attacking you. His

:51:59.:52:03.

defence is pinpoint. Ever the perfectionist though. 4-0

:52:04.:52:30.

up in the set. Still not happy. Stopped being a physical battle

:52:31.:53:01.

though. He takes an awkward slip in the corner.

:53:02.:53:11.

So much talk of this court being slippy in the build-up to the tie,

:53:12.:53:19.

as a lot of temporary clay courts are. It seems to have bedded in

:53:20.:53:25.

pretty well. Certainly the British play verse kept their footing

:53:26.:53:26.

throughout. -- play have kept their footing

:53:27.:53:40.

throughout. The balance has been true. Often, especially on a Sunday,

:53:41.:53:47.

around the baseline you get awful bounces, but it's been held up as

:53:48.:53:50.

well so far. The third set. You have tales from

:53:51.:54:04.

around the world from your travels. Dodgy clay courts in outposts? The

:54:05.:54:10.

worst I can think of right now is Sri Lanka.

:54:11.:54:17.

Awful red colour. Thick mud. Didn't leave any marks. Treacherous to move

:54:18.:54:29.

on. That was at the low level when I was 16, 17. Presumably whiffy as as

:54:30.:54:38.

well. Was billed as a clay court? No groundsmen needed. No sweeping, no

:54:39.:54:45.

water. Just embedded, thick. Lovely! Apart from that, you play Belgrade,

:54:46.:54:56.

Eastern Europe they are not as true a bounce or at Roland Garros. They

:54:57.:55:01.

don't have the care or history of how to maintain a good clay court.

:55:02.:55:11.

The biggest clay court is in Madrid. They experimented by changing the

:55:12.:55:16.

colour of the clay to blue. Players hitted it. That is a slippery court.

:55:17.:55:20.

I thought the colour looked great. Three points to recover from that

:55:21.:55:47.

one. Corner to corner. Running him around ragged there. James Ward is

:55:48.:55:51.

not in the line there. After that second set, I think he thought,

:55:52.:55:56.

well, might have to play a live match. May have to zip back and get

:55:57.:56:05.

some rest. Haven't seen Donald Young in the bench the whole match. I

:56:06.:56:11.

haven't seen him. No. That's a good point.

:56:12.:56:26.

It's good to watch a set of tennis, before you go out and play a match.

:56:27.:56:32.

If Young was to play. Just to understand the feel, the

:56:33.:56:37.

temperature, the crowd. You come out and sometimes you are a little

:56:38.:56:39.

startled. Scheduled to play CAP ward in the

:56:40.:57:05.

fifth match in this tie. -- Ward in the fifth match in this tie.

:57:06.:57:18.

He does get the job done here. Because Querrey won a set, the Davis

:57:19.:57:28.

Cup rule change that came in in 2011 mean the captains can agree not to

:57:29.:57:32.

play the fifth match. If the tie is over and the first match has gone to

:57:33.:57:34.

either four or five. On super Bowl Sunday, you have to

:57:35.:57:44.

wonder whether that is the likely scenario at the moment. We won't

:57:45.:57:50.

know until this match is complete though. 5-1, Murray.

:57:51.:58:16.

Talking of James Ward, John, I think it's good for Karl Edmonds

:58:17.:58:29.

development he has to work hard to get that number two spot in the

:58:30.:58:30.

team. He will be itching to play. To be a part of the team here, then

:58:31.:58:49.

to watch Ward really pull off a victory that no-one expected.

:58:50.:58:53.

Against an opponent to was way above him in the rankings. That is good

:58:54.:59:04.

for thoim see what you can achieve. -- him to see what you can achieve.

:59:05.:59:51.

Losing his footing a little bit. Failed to recover. Lovely lob from

:59:52.:00:03.

Murray though. 30-40. It's set point.

:00:04.:01:06.

His captain will be proud of him today. He showed a lot of fight. And

:01:07.:01:20.

again , Murray with the backhand down the line. Look at that shop, it

:01:21.:01:29.

is just gorgeous. I wish he would use it more often.

:01:30.:01:46.

That is a 5-1 shot. I don't think he would be heating it at 3-3. A drop

:01:47.:01:58.

shot winner for serve like that, that is a shot that is just not

:01:59.:02:04.

allowed to be played. It is the way Murray takes the

:02:05.:03:41.

racket back, you can't tell which way he is going to go. He holds and

:03:42.:03:45.

holds. Britain are one set away from

:03:46.:04:01.

winning in America for the first time since the 1930s. What an

:04:02.:04:07.

achievement this would be for Leon Smith's team. That was the perfect

:04:08.:04:15.

response after the disappointment of losing the second set tie-break. He

:04:16.:04:21.

did very well, Murray. Upped his level and his concentration to show

:04:22.:04:26.

us all why he is so tough to beat over five sets, and Querrey had to

:04:27.:04:32.

play to the level he played out in that tie-break in order to have a

:04:33.:04:36.

chance, and he won't be able to maintain those high standards.

:04:37.:04:45.

Murray has to be the strong favourite to go on and win this in

:04:46.:04:54.

four. Murray is a brilliant professional, used his anger to get

:04:55.:05:01.

back Sam. It is something we touched on earlier, he is a different man

:05:02.:05:05.

now. Early in his career, not playing well towards the end of that

:05:06.:05:10.

second set, losing a tie-break, he could have gone into a slump, but

:05:11.:05:14.

you don't see that in the modern-day Murray.

:05:15.:05:17.

His body language now is so much better than it used to be. Apart

:05:18.:05:27.

from getting frustrated with himself, he was loving every minute

:05:28.:05:33.

of it. But he has almost cut that out. By and large, since Ivan Lendl

:05:34.:05:40.

has come into the picture, he has been better. What do you think about

:05:41.:05:46.

coaches coming into the Davis Cup? The American coaches are on site,

:05:47.:05:51.

but the British personal coaches are asked to keep away. If Lendl was

:05:52.:05:58.

there, he would be cheering for the USA!

:05:59.:06:05.

I think it comes down to the top layers, if they have a thing about

:06:06.:06:10.

their coach being there. In my day, we didn't do that. But if a personal

:06:11.:06:15.

coach was that much attached and we wanted it, it was tough to say no.

:06:16.:06:24.

Pete asks whether Murray really needs the team cap and to be in his

:06:25.:06:28.

ear at every changeover. It is not always gain to be tactics and

:06:29.:06:33.

coaching, is it, John? Give us an insight. Do you talk about different

:06:34.:06:43.

stuff to keep the game relaxed? Occasionally. It depends on the

:06:44.:06:46.

personality of the player. Someone like Greg Rusedski, he just wanted

:06:47.:06:52.

to tell you how well he was playing, so I just agreed with that. He liked

:06:53.:06:57.

to be reinforced that everything was going great. Tim Henman didn't

:06:58.:07:02.

really want to much to be said, he liked to do his own thing. He

:07:03.:07:08.

occasionally wanted you to reinforce a couple of things, but otherwise he

:07:09.:07:12.

wanted to do it on his own, which was fine. What about when Greg

:07:13.:07:18.

wasn't playing well? He still thought he was!

:07:19.:07:27.

Excellent start to the set for Sam Querrey, asset he needs to win -- a

:07:28.:07:41.

set he needs to win to keep this tie a life.

:07:42.:09:02.

If that wasn't going out, I think Murray was going to be sitting on

:09:03.:09:06.

the backhand. It was. Fatties break point saved -- that is

:09:07.:09:58.

break point saved. That is Colin Fleming there in the shades.

:09:59.:10:17.

That serve skidded through and stayed low. A little extra juice on

:10:18.:10:23.

that forehand. He has got the balance there, when

:10:24.:11:09.

to play aggressively and when to play persistently.

:11:10.:11:22.

Excellent recovery from Murray in the game, from 15-40 down, one of

:11:23.:11:33.

those chances you feel, suddenly evaporating. He is not going to have

:11:34.:11:36.

to many more. Going back to talking about the

:11:37.:11:48.

captain, the link and the history that Leon Smith and Andy Murray

:11:49.:11:53.

have. He coached him between 12 and 15. Always had a word in his ear

:11:54.:12:01.

throughout the years of advice. You don't have to say too much on the

:12:02.:12:04.

chair, the less the better. Certainly not with the real top, top

:12:05.:12:19.

players. They know what it is about, they have been there and done it

:12:20.:12:20.

hundreds of times. He does have a huge forehand. That

:12:21.:13:15.

was a good forehand that Murray hits to him there, nice indeed. And then

:13:16.:13:21.

all of a sudden, he just crushes it crosscourt.

:13:22.:13:35.

In the modern game now, you have to be so accurate, and you can be

:13:36.:13:43.

punished from so many plays, so many big shop from the baseline.

:13:44.:14:15.

That is also modern technology. The racket slightly stiffer, more

:14:16.:14:24.

control. Different ones are suited to each player. The power of these

:14:25.:14:28.

players, it is quite scary. We will go through some more of your

:14:29.:14:58.

questions in a minute. Keep them coming in. #bbctennis four. He is

:14:59.:15:12.

still serving around 60% in terms of speed on the second serve.

:15:13.:15:21.

I love the way he keeps that shoulder up. Hitting up on the

:15:22.:15:27.

serve, not pulling down. Keeps it up.

:15:28.:15:43.

I think the serve has improved. More aggressive as well, in his game

:15:44.:15:51.

plan, than he used to be. More pro-active on the court.

:15:52.:15:59.

Roger Federer has always said there are things to improve on. You look

:16:00.:16:06.

at his game and you think, how can he possible improve. It he thinks he

:16:07.:16:10.

can. There are always different things he thinks he can work on.

:16:11.:16:22.

That takes him 2-1 up, in the fourth set, Murray. John makes the point,

:16:23.:16:35.

"I wish I had ?5 for every game Andy has won from 15-40 down." That is

:16:36.:16:44.

true. Paul says "Murray looks in control. Back looks OK" he had

:16:45.:16:51.

surgery last year, missed a lot of the clay season last year because of

:16:52.:16:57.

problems, changes surfaces. There must be relief around from his team

:16:58.:17:01.

that he is in good nick here? Yes. They do a great job. In the prehigh

:17:02.:17:06.

pressure-season he had a lot of treatment making sure the drills

:17:07.:17:10.

were set to strengthen the back. A lot of the drill work to strengthen

:17:11.:17:15.

the back. He struggled on the clay, sliding into his backhand and

:17:16.:17:19.

rotating at the same time. It caused him pain. He has been carrying it

:17:20.:17:24.

for years. I don't know what procedure happened. It has relieved

:17:25.:17:29.

a lot of pain. He is feeling good. Done the trick. A lot of debate as

:17:30.:17:34.

well over the years about Andy Murray's appearances for Britain in

:17:35.:17:38.

this competition, the Davis Cup. He's by no means been an ever

:17:39.:17:40.

present. When Britain were relegated down the

:17:41.:17:56.

divisions, he wanted to make the point that, when I see other players

:17:57.:18:01.

in Great Britain coming through, winning live singles matches, then

:18:02.:18:05.

I'll know we've got a competitive team.

:18:06.:18:09.

Obviously, you have a team-mate and a former captain in the box here.

:18:10.:18:17.

Just be interested in your thoughts. John, you were always of the opinion

:18:18.:18:22.

if Murray should be there to represent his country, but do you

:18:23.:18:25.

think, in a way, he's been proved right? Well, I personally, it's old

:18:26.:18:31.

school, I personally believe, why would you not want to play, whether

:18:32.:18:37.

your team is in division eight, it's irrelevant. If you are asked to play

:18:38.:18:40.

for your country. You play for your country. That's old school. That's

:18:41.:18:44.

what I believe. Everybody has different opinions on that.

:18:45.:19:08.

Having said that. This round of Davis Cup, it's encouraging that

:19:09.:19:16.

most of the top players, Roger Federer playing at the last-minute,

:19:17.:19:20.

which was great. Unfortunately, no Rafael Nadal, no Novak Djokovic.

:19:21.:19:24.

Rafael Nadal decided not to play before he got injured. Novak

:19:25.:19:28.

Djokovic saying he was exhausted. That's the one I can't believe. He's

:19:29.:19:34.

only just start the season. It's not good in the Davis Cup when the top

:19:35.:19:36.

two players don't play. It's tough on the players' demands,

:19:37.:19:49.

I have o to say, with the Davis Cup format the way it is. I think it

:19:50.:19:53.

should be changed. I've said this for years.

:19:54.:20:20.

Look Secretary of State in control at this moment, doesn't he? That is

:20:21.:20:36.

all the training paying off. That sort of move is what it's all about.

:20:37.:20:41.

Thousands and thousands of sprints you do. Interval training, all that

:20:42.:20:51.

kind of stuff, just to spring into getting the winner. That's it!

:20:52.:20:54.

That's magnificent. Six foot six, Querrey. Exactly. He

:20:55.:21:13.

needed two or three step ladders for that one.

:21:14.:21:27.

It's a brilliant game. Murray's the world class player turning on the

:21:28.:21:39.

style. As Britain head, seemingly, towards the last eight of the Davis

:21:40.:21:48.

Cup. Work to be done yet. Magic wand in his hand here sometimes. Just the

:21:49.:21:52.

touch he has on that backhand there. Just the feel. It's mind-boggling

:21:53.:21:58.

just how good he is. Ross, revisiting that topic of Murray in

:21:59.:22:02.

Davis Cup. While we take on board John's opinion, he set that

:22:03.:22:05.

challenge, didn't he, to the other players? You have got to say, Dan

:22:06.:22:11.

Evans and James Ward have responded. They both won live matches? They

:22:12.:22:17.

have. It's not a good feeling to be in a team moving down the leagues.

:22:18.:22:20.

We had to make a reaction. The boys did it really well. Under Leon Smith

:22:21.:22:25.

they responded. I think there are so many variables. I agree with John,

:22:26.:22:29.

to an extent, if you're asked to play, yes, initially I would say,

:22:30.:22:34.

you should play. There are different variables to different players in

:22:35.:22:39.

differents countries. Andy wanted a reaction from the players. He hadn't

:22:40.:22:43.

been that fit. He didn't achieve what Nadal and Federer achieved. He

:22:44.:22:47.

wanted the slam from eight years old. He has two. When he feels good

:22:48.:22:51.

and healthy and a good number two play, he will play. That is why he

:22:52.:22:54.

has been here and has been here the last couple of days. He will be

:22:55.:22:56.

there in the future. If he can get the job done here, it

:22:57.:23:06.

will guarantee world group tennis, of course, for a couple of years.

:23:07.:23:11.

They won't have to worry about a relegation play-off. Which America

:23:12.:23:16.

will, if they lose this. And Spain. And Serbia. Good point, John.

:23:17.:23:54.

Great opportunity, the Brit. Clear on the Querrey serve.

:23:55.:24:28.

That forehand that Querrey runs round the back and down-the-line.

:24:29.:24:35.

Leaves him wide open to run across court. He has been lapping that one

:24:36.:24:42.

up all match. Murray he knows from that position he can't get back in

:24:43.:24:46.

the court. He has to go for a clean winner back the line. Murray would

:24:47.:24:51.

have hosted that back across court and is so quick would have been back

:24:52.:24:53.

in the rally. Such a good athlete. Oh, improadvisation. He adapts to

:24:54.:25:21.

the bounce, to the pace. Up until the last second he was going to play

:25:22.:25:27.

this high and deep. All of a sudden, oops. Great shot. That Querrey,

:25:28.:25:32.

there is no way he could have anticipated that because I don't

:25:33.:25:34.

think anybody else in the world would have done that. That I can

:25:35.:25:37.

think of! No. It's wide! There's the break!

:25:38.:25:57.

Britain are almost home. Unbelievable defence from Murray.

:25:58.:26:01.

How he comes out and wins those points, I never know. I've seen it

:26:02.:26:06.

so many times, haven't we all? Full stretch.

:26:07.:26:12.

Telling Querrey, you have to stand on the baseline from now. Don't go

:26:13.:26:22.

out in this match. Play deep in the court.

:26:23.:27:08.

History made in British tennis over the last 12 months or so. More

:27:09.:27:12.

unfolding here. Murray saying, no need for you to

:27:13.:27:46.

come down, Mr Umpire, I've got that one covered. He gives it to Querrey.

:27:47.:27:53.

Speedily down from his chair, unnecessary. Murray was always going

:27:54.:27:55.

to give that. Nice to have one of those, a match,

:27:56.:28:14.

I always think, when you're away from home to make the spectators to

:28:15.:28:18.

feel that you're a good guy after all.

:28:19.:28:34.

We were talking about it yesterday, in the past I've been away from home

:28:35.:28:43.

ties often spectators push it to the limit of what they're allowed to do

:28:44.:28:48.

and what they do. Nowadays, it's a bit more Melo. -- mellow.

:28:49.:28:57.

In Italy they were throwing coins at us. Charming! We kept them!

:28:58.:29:23.

Oh, battle of the backhands there is really going to be only one winner.

:29:24.:29:29.

Querrey needed to fire a forehand. When he had the opportunity, he

:29:30.:29:35.

skied it almost into the back boards. Ran out of gas here,

:29:36.:29:38.

finally. Had enough of that rally. Leon Smith knows that the moment of

:29:39.:30:14.

victory may not be too far away now. They can feel this coming. They are

:30:15.:30:31.

all getting ready. Still a way to go. They know it's so close right

:30:32.:30:38.

now. It's just phenomenonal performance from Murray. After

:30:39.:30:41.

losing that second to reset so quickly and then right away get back

:30:42.:30:47.

on top of an opponent who was, quite frankly, was playing out of his mind

:30:48.:30:53.

on clay. There was no sign of panic. Just got back to business and look

:30:54.:30:59.

where we are now. Querrey's level hasn't dropped too much. No. He is

:31:00.:31:04.

still playing good tennis. Murray's level went up two or three gears.

:31:05.:31:10.

Reminder of what we are dealing with here. Britain hasn't beaten the

:31:11.:31:15.

United States in the Davis Cup since 1935. Not on clay since 1933.

:31:16.:31:21.

Only three more of those now required.

:31:22.:31:51.

He must have had a few nightmares about this tie. Murray wants to get

:31:52.:32:46.

this done here, you can see it. Talk about those gears that you feel that

:32:47.:32:52.

he can always shift up. He is doing it right here. It makes you

:32:53.:32:55.

appreciate what a player he is. James Ward will be one of the

:32:56.:33:07.

heroes. It was James Ward's victory on the

:33:08.:34:00.

opening day that shifted the whole complexion of this tie.

:34:01.:34:18.

With Britain at 2-0 up, it would have taken a huge recovery from the

:34:19.:34:22.

American team. The speed of Murray up to the net to

:34:23.:35:24.

steer the backhand winner takes Britain into a modern-day unknown

:35:25.:35:30.

territory. Match point to seal the Davis Cup world group win.

:35:31.:35:59.

Well done, Sam Querrey. He has played his part. The way he bounced

:36:00.:36:07.

back from that opening-day disappointment.

:36:08.:36:16.

In the past 18 months, Andy Murray has served for the Olympic gold

:36:17.:36:35.

medal, and he has served for the Wimbledon title. Now he is serving

:36:36.:36:40.

to take Britain into the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup will

:36:41.:36:44.

. That is a great start from Murray.

:36:45.:37:12.

Once again, starting this game off and .

:37:13.:38:21.

On the line. Henrik Molina is absolutely certain there. Querrey is

:38:22.:38:31.

saying that's not a mark. That one is out. It sounded like

:38:32.:39:08.

Murray broke a string there. He did. Nice time for that happen.

:39:09.:39:16.

It is never easy to serve a match out, even if you have got the

:39:17.:39:20.

experience of Murray. Well, even the best get nervous. And

:39:21.:40:06.

a double fault keeps America interested.

:40:07.:40:21.

Suddenly recalling the torture of that final game in the Wimbledon

:40:22.:40:23.

final. What a rally! That may be the best

:40:24.:40:55.

defensive play that Sam Querrey has played in the whole match, to keep

:40:56.:40:56.

himself in that point. First break point saved. Another one

:40:57.:41:02.

to come. There is another 15-40 that he is

:41:03.:41:44.

taken to deuce. His favourite plays, going across court.

:41:45.:42:11.

This is so good from Murray. He had that shot in mind since four shots

:42:12.:42:19.

before the winner. Yes, he has done it! History boy

:42:20.:42:59.

rewrite small records. Great Britain are into the quarterfinals of the

:43:00.:43:02.

Davis Cup for the first time in 28 years. And the United States beaten

:43:03.:43:09.

in their San Diego backyard. Great scenes. The whole team has

:43:10.:43:39.

played its part. Murray leading the way with two really professional

:43:40.:43:43.

victories. James Ward fantastic on the opening day. The unexpected

:43:44.:43:50.

results. Colin Fleming and Dominic Inglot who played the doubles tested

:43:51.:43:57.

the Bryan brothers, but couldn't get the win. That is what it means to

:43:58.:44:00.

Murray. So, it will be Italy away in the

:44:01.:44:17.

quarterfinals at the start of the clay-court season in April. Possibly

:44:18.:44:24.

Switzerland in the semifinals if Britain can get through that, but we

:44:25.:44:28.

will enjoy this while we can, one round at a time. It means no chance

:44:29.:44:34.

either of having a relegation play-off at the end of this year.

World group tennis guaranteed for 2015 for Leon Smith's side. And

:44:40.:44:48.

unassailable 3-1 lead for Great Britain over the United States.

:44:49.:44:52.

SUE BARKER: Through to the quarterfinals, and that will take

:44:53.:44:55.

place in Italy, April 4-6. At the bottom there, Switzerland

:44:56.:45:19.

with Stanislas Wawrinka and Roger Federer will face Kazakhstan in the

:45:20.:45:25.

quarterfinals. We are now being told that there will be no final rubber,

:45:26.:45:31.

so no more match to come from San Diego. But I think they will want to

:45:32.:45:36.

celebrate anyway. Because that is what it is all about. To go over

:45:37.:45:41.

there, they weren't really the favourites going into this match. It

:45:42.:45:47.

is incredible, and amazing team achievement. To win in San Diego

:45:48.:45:53.

away against America for the first time in so many years, a superb

:45:54.:45:57.

formance from Andy Murray and James Ward, so thrilled. What a match

:45:58.:46:03.

today, great atmosphere. And great tennis. Was aggressive and took

:46:04.:46:08.

Murray on. He tried everything he could. He was brilliant today.

:46:09.:46:11.

Murray had to play well to get through that match. He was a tough

:46:12.:46:15.

opponent. Wonderful tennis. I bet Querrey is thinking, why didn't I

:46:16.:46:21.

play like that in the first match. He was fantastic. Is about nerves.

:46:22.:46:27.

The pressure was on him on Friday. He wanted to show his team-mates he

:46:28.:46:34.

will produce a upset. The start of the third Murray flipped into a

:46:35.:46:39.

different gear. He played incredibly well. Despatched him 6-1, 6-3,

:46:40.:46:45.

Britain, next level, into the quarters. Will show a few points

:46:46.:46:50.

while we wait for interviews. This is one of the points of the match.

:46:51.:46:54.

It happened in the second set. This was at deuce at 3-3. Sit back and

:46:55.:47:01.

admire this. Terrific tennis. From both players.

:47:02.:47:21.

What more can you do? If you are Sam Querrey, what more could he have

:47:22.:47:28.

done in that point? No, throughout a lot of the match as well. That

:47:29.:47:32.

point, was outrageous. Andy playing so well. Also, just the movement as

:47:33.:47:37.

well. We were told this court was a bit slippy. It wasn't very good.

:47:38.:47:40.

Boy, it was moving well today? He was. You know, he defends, Ross and

:47:41.:47:45.

I were talking about, we talk about how aggressive players are. The

:47:46.:47:50.

defensive capabilities. Every point he is made of rubber. He gets it

:47:51.:47:56.

back. Sam is belting balls away, they keep coming back. You can't do

:47:57.:48:00.

it for three or four hours to beat Murray over five sets. That is the

:48:01.:48:04.

problem. Is a big occasion player, isn't he? Let us hear from him now.

:48:05.:48:10.

So many congratulations. Into the quarter-finals of the World Group

:48:11.:48:14.

for the first time in 28 years. Quite a battle in the first two sets

:48:15.:48:18.

against, Sam? Yeah, it was. Again at the end there. You know, he came out

:48:19.:48:23.

playing extremely aggressive. He was being very aggressive on my serve.

:48:24.:48:27.

Changed the tactics, beginning of the third set. I dictated a lot of

:48:28.:48:32.

points after that. I made my service games challenging for him. I

:48:33.:48:36.

dictated a lot of points. He slowed down his serve and made it easier

:48:37.:48:42.

for me to break. A change of tactics helped. Have seen you win so many

:48:43.:48:46.

tie-breaks over your career when you are playing for yourself effect nifl

:48:47.:48:51.

grand slams. It's more stressful in a Davis Cup surroundings? Um... Yeah

:48:52.:48:58.

it's different. It's different. You know, we... You know have a

:48:59.:49:02.

responsibility to your team-mates to play well. But, at the same time, a

:49:03.:49:08.

I have a lot of experience I have played Davis Cup matches and

:49:09.:49:12.

tie-breaks over my career, slams and tough. You know how to deal with it

:49:13.:49:16.

relatively well. Against a big server like Sam, when he serves

:49:17.:49:20.

well, he puts pressure on your serve. He took advantage of second

:49:21.:49:24.

serves in that second set tie-break. We will bring in your team-mates in

:49:25.:49:27.

a moment. What is it like to have the guys in red so close to the

:49:28.:49:31.

court making as much noise as they can between points? That is what is

:49:32.:49:35.

great about Davis Cup. We have a really good team spirit. I have

:49:36.:49:39.

known a lot of the guys for a long, long time. I have known Leon since I

:49:40.:49:43.

was a young child. I used to practice when Colin when I was 10

:49:44.:49:48.

years old. I've known him since, you know, Kyle, I trained with him in

:49:49.:49:53.

December. His coach, who is here as well. Yeah, it's just... It's just

:49:54.:49:58.

nice to play with those guys because, you know, it's very

:49:59.:50:02.

independent when you're on the Tour on your own. Here it's not like that

:50:03.:50:06.

at all. There is pressure because you have a responsibility to your

:50:07.:50:09.

team-mates, at the same time, this he have done such a good job helping

:50:10.:50:13.

to put me in positions to close out matches and also winning some big

:50:14.:50:18.

ties themselves. James has come out with huge wins over the last few

:50:19.:50:22.

years. Italy away in the first week of April. Might need to dust down

:50:23.:50:28.

those clay court shoes? It's good for me to play on the clay. You

:50:29.:50:32.

know, often you know going into the clay court season I haven't played

:50:33.:50:37.

any play court tennis for 11 months. So, to play another match on clay, I

:50:38.:50:42.

assume they will play it on clay, you never know, it will be a tough,

:50:43.:50:45.

tough match. Fabulous performance. Thank you very much indeed, Andy.

:50:46.:50:50.

ThankThank you. Smith, the Great Britain Davis Cup captain. Move you

:50:51.:50:54.

into shot. Congratulations again. I know you will say it's down to the

:50:55.:50:57.

players, but you have played your part too. It's been another amazing

:50:58.:51:03.

weekend? Yeah. I mean, Andy was superb there. Sam came out swinging,

:51:04.:51:08.

as we thought he would do. Playing risk-free tennis. He did great for

:51:09.:51:12.

two sets obviously. Once Andy started to get the ball moving

:51:13.:51:16.

around a little bit more, he served and his percentage went way up in

:51:17.:51:19.

the last two sets. That tired out Sam. A massesive team effort. We

:51:20.:51:23.

don't see the work that gets done after the tennis is gone. Shane our

:51:24.:51:28.

physio who is one of a lot of physios who has six, banging out

:51:29.:51:32.

12-hour days on all the players. His hands must be gone. All the coaches.

:51:33.:51:36.

I mean all of them leave here without any voices. Can you hear

:51:37.:51:39.

them shouting their heads off. We should be proud of the team spirit

:51:40.:51:42.

and what the guys have created here. We can see how close we are. You

:51:43.:51:46.

have come along way as well, haven't you? When you took over... . YEAH

:51:47.:51:55.

Not the easest thing broadcasting live with these auto three guys

:51:56.:51:58.

around you. They are part of the team. A team that has come a long

:51:59.:52:04.

way. It was a Group 2 relegation tie your first one in charge four years

:52:05.:52:08.

ago? Slightly different environment to what we are playing in today. I

:52:09.:52:11.

was saying to the guys during the week, when we were showing a journey

:52:12.:52:16.

video of all the ties we have done. There were 11 different players who

:52:17.:52:19.

have played in the team over the years. It has been a team effort.

:52:20.:52:22.

The same support staff, coaching staff that have been there since the

:52:23.:52:27.

start, since I took over. It's great to have this team spirit running

:52:28.:52:31.

through everybody. No, these guys deserve a lot of credit. They pulled

:52:32.:52:34.

everyone through today as well. James, you don't need to play today.

:52:35.:52:38.

You deserve the afternoon off after that amazing win on Friday. The that

:52:39.:52:42.

turned the match, didn't it really? Yeah. Obviously, Andy has won both

:52:43.:52:48.

matches, he had to produce a big performance today. Glad I could do

:52:49.:52:52.

my bit on Friday. Was it like watching today knowing you may have

:52:53.:53:00.

to play a decountriesive fifth rubber After the seconded set I went

:53:01.:53:05.

in to get ready. Once it was 6-1 in the third full confidence in Andy to

:53:06.:53:14.

get the job done. You left at just the right moment. God food. In the

:53:15.:53:19.

same of three games Andy broke twice - He doesn't want me anywhere near

:53:20.:53:23.

his court. That is why I was first on the court afterwards. It was down

:53:24.:53:28.

to me leaving. Great job by him. It's fantastic today he could do so

:53:29.:53:33.

well. Everyone else, Ward, great job on Friday. Leon, Captain, fantastic

:53:34.:53:38.

over here. Unbelievable experience. Has the weekend been like for you?

:53:39.:53:44.

Just, I can't explain it. Being on the court is fantastic. It's like

:53:45.:53:48.

playing for Britain, for your country, you know singing the

:53:49.:53:52.

National Anthem. That was like, for me... It will stay with me for the

:53:53.:53:57.

rest of my life. Loving it. Here he is. You remember the dark days, you

:53:58.:54:02.

played in that tie in Lithuanian in early 2010 when Britain were beaten?

:54:03.:54:07.

I was there in Lithuania. It was a different feeling to what it is here

:54:08.:54:11.

today. It's been a lot of hard work to get back here. A lot of tough

:54:12.:54:16.

matches have been won. Another one today. It sums it up. It was...

:54:17.:54:23.

What's that? Stop talking so much. Come on... It's been a great

:54:24.:54:27.

journey. It's been a great journey to get here. It's time for the next

:54:28.:54:31.

generation. Kyle, close to playing here and making your Davis Cup

:54:32.:54:35.

debut. An important part of the team. How has it been for you? It's

:54:36.:54:38.

been great. All the experience counts. I have been here three times

:54:39.:54:43.

now. The first was against Russia. First time comeback from 2-0 down

:54:44.:54:48.

was unbelievable. To win a World Group match for the first time in so

:54:49.:54:52.

long, great to be part of. Well done to all of you. You have been playing

:54:53.:54:57.

the word game articulate on a regular basis every evening. Will

:54:58.:55:01.

you do something more exciting than that tonight? We are going to Vegas!

:55:02.:55:09.

YEAH! So professional. Done to all of you. We look forward to the

:55:10.:55:13.

quarter-final in a couple of months' time. Enjoy the moment. Thanks. I

:55:14.:55:17.

hope they really do enjoy the moment. John, it's such great news

:55:18.:55:23.

for British tennis, isn't it? It is. With Andy doing so well, winning two

:55:24.:55:27.

slams. A Davis Cup team in the quarter-finals. As I said earlier, I

:55:28.:55:32.

do believe this, we can win this if Murray keeps playing we've got a

:55:33.:55:36.

shot. He's that good. So why not. How special would that be? Italy

:55:37.:55:44.

have great players. They are beatable? They are beatable. Andy,

:55:45.:55:48.

when he's in your team, you feel good about. It he is a fantastic

:55:49.:55:52.

player who can play three days. So fit. It's a good tie for us. We have

:55:53.:55:57.

a chance. There are tougher ties, Serbia away, Switzerland away. You

:55:58.:56:01.

know, Andy in our team, hopefully he will play. Really exciting and win

:56:02.:56:05.

the quarter-finals. We can look forward to that. James Ward has come

:56:06.:56:10.

of age? Huge win for him. He set the tone really, didn't he? When he won

:56:11.:56:16.

that match, unexpected, the team from then on wards marvellous

:56:17.:56:21.

performance by him he justified his place in the singles. Has been a

:56:22.:56:26.

wonderful time over in San Diego. We went there, not really expecting to

:56:27.:56:29.

be the favourites, but in the tend was a wonderful Friday going two up.

:56:30.:56:33.

Then today Andy Murray sealed the win. It's 28 years the last time

:56:34.:56:38.

that Great Britain were in the quarter-finals. 9 years that they

:56:39.:56:42.

last beat the United States. So much to celebrate. Well done to Leon

:56:43.:56:46.

Smith and his team. From all of us here, a very goodbye and see you in

:56:47.:56:48.

April, in Italy. Bye bye. # Give me the moment

:56:49.:57:06.

# Some type of experience # Give me a shot at the light

:57:07.:57:12.

# Give a moment # Some kind of experience
