Fernando Llorente... Jonny Evans wanted by Manchester City. Good

evening, all. Welcome to Football Focus on Transfer Deadline Day. The

former England winger and Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam. We would

love to hear from you as one will get through as many of your comments

as we possibly can. As you can see, I read about ten minutes left until

the window closes and let's remind you of what has been happening so

far... -- around about ten minutes. Manchester City's late bid for

Alexis Sanchez falls short, but the Ox completes his ?35 million move

from Arsenal to Liverpool. Spurs are set to sign Fernando Llorente from

Swansea, and Paris St Germain have snapped up the French teen sensation

Kylian Mbappe. It also looks like Mamadou Sakho is returning to

Selhurst Park, this time permanently, for ?26 million. Palace

fans happy about that one. Here is more that has gone through today...

Wilfried Bony is also rejoining Swansea for ?12 million. Spurs have

signed the right back Serge Aurier for ?23 million from PSG. Some of

these are still awaiting confirmation. In Nahki Wells has

signed for Birmingham from Huddersfield. We like figure at this

time of the season. Record-breaking transfer window with well over ?1

billion spent Premier League clubs alone. If you were asked for a deal

today that shines out, what would you go for, Trevor? Renato Sanches

for Swansea. I just think he is great player, difficult year at

Bayern Munich but when see him winning the Euros in 2016, I think

it shows why Paul Clement has been brought to that club, to be able to

recruit players like that, very good prospect. He will play well. He can

possibly use Swansea for a stepping stone into the Premier League to one

of the bigger clubs but for me here is a great talent and will be a big

part of Swansea's season. He has gone there on loan. What about you?

Alexis Sanchez for Arsenal, if they can keep him. Because he is a

world-class player and at the moment they are lacking that quality.

Losing Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a big blow for them, but if they can

keep Sanchez, a big player, try to get back into the Champions League

next season. We will talk about that because we're not sure he wants to

be there at the moment and is only there because other deals fell

through. Talking about deals falling through, Mr deadline Dennis is

always with us on deadline day. Lovely show this evening, thanks for

that, Ian. What should we be looking out for in the next ten minutes?

Leicester City have confirmed that Alexander Gradovich has arrived from

Bayern Leverkusen on loan until the end of the season.

-- Dragovic. You get trigger points and the focal point throughout the

day, Wilfried Bony glad to be back at Swansea City. The earlier had a

bit of ?12 million for the Norwich striker turned down, well, the bid

that same amount for Bony from Manchester City and he has joined as

a result. So Llorente as a result will be going to Tottenham. ?12

million to Chelsea, talk of a 12 year deal with the option of a

further deal for Llorente, I was going to say for White Hart Lane,

but it is Wembley. The other trigger point, it might be, I was told today

Danny Drinkwater has a strong chance of going to Chelsea and that depends

on the Sporting Lisbon midfielder at Leicester City, Silva. We are told

there might be a hitch with that one. So it might depend on whether

they get him and that enables Danny Drinkwater to go to Stamford Bridge.

As you mention, Mamadou Sakho. Crystal Palace earlier submitted an

offer for Mangola at Manchester City -- Mangala. But instead they have

gone for Sakho. The ?26 million bid was accepted by Liverpool. We are

expecting him to rejoin Crystal Palace on a permanent basis. We will

get more updates from you later in the programme, but talking about

Alexis Sanchez, one of the big stories of the day surrounds

Manchester City and their late attempt to sign him. David Ornstein

is it that it had for us. Good evening. Was it a case of just too

late for Manchester City? -- David Ornstein is at the letter had for

us. Yes, but that is not to put the blame solely at Manchester City's

door. It is a disappointment because he has been a key target for them

all summer. He has wanted to move all summer. Arsenal were aware of

that interest but it did not really formalised itself until the last

24-48 hours when ?150 million bid was rejected and then City came back

today with a second bid, -- when a ?50 million bid was rejected. This

next one would have amounted to ?60 million. There was a conditional

agreement reached between the two clubs and that condition was that

Arsenal sign what they would describe as a world-class

replacement, and they decided to go for Thomas Lemar of Monaco, the

French international winger who scored two goals for France in their

World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands tonight. Arsenal had

appeared in the region of ?92 million accepted by Monaco but it is

our understanding that Lemar decided against making that move, so when he

decided not to go to Arsenal, the Alexis Sanchez deal collapsed. That

is what has led to the disappointment here and for Alexis

Sanchez. He told people, my understanding, people close to him,

they were informed that that deal was done and that he would become a

Manchester City player, but it is off. He will have to go back to

Arsenal, he can speak to overseas clubs in January and can leave on a

free next summer. One more question, David. Rumours have been circulating

for the last few hours about Ross Barkley, and something that went

wrong with the medical. What do you know? Yes, Ross Barkley has been a

long-term target of Chelsea, despite the fact he is nursing a serious

hamstring injury that will probably keep him out until January. Chelsea

had a bid of ?25 million rejected, some way short of Everton's demand

for around ?50 million. They were expected to meet in the middle and

it was seeming like that deal was going to be done. He went down to

Chelsea and underwent a medical but then he decided, reportedly made

medical, that he no longer wanted to join Chelsea but wanted to return to

Everton -- he decided reportedly made medical. There are some

suggestions that Chelsea will come back and for him in January but for

now Ross Barkley will remain an Everton player. There was also

interest from Tottenham, but clearly that has not materialised. He is

into the final year of his contract and the Everton manager Ronald

Koeman said recently if he doesn't move before the deadline he will be

integrated back into the squad and be a very important player for

Everton. David, great to speak to you. Thanks for the update from the

Etihad Stadium. We will talk about Chelsea later in the programme.

Charlie, you have said Alexis Sanchez is your best man who did not

go anywhere because he will be useful for Arsenal. Would you sit on

that? Player also top to go to Manchester City, wanted to reunite

with Pep Guardiola who was at Barcelona, and he now goes back to a

side who at the moment are not particularly happy? -- a player who

wanted to go to Manchester City. Yes, you feel for him. He has kept

his performance as high, playing very well to dictate that kind of

fee in the last year of his contract, but the club have not

matched his ambition, so you do feel for the player. Manchester City have

left it a little too late, the deal has fallen through because of that.

But I do feel sorry for the player because for me I have been in that

scenario before. You have been you don't feel the club is matching your

ambition and you want to leave but can't get out. He is under contract.

I don't think you will be like Costa and go missing and I think Arsene

Wenger is relying on his professionalism. Can't wait for this

transfer window to end, Arsenal have been a complete joke as usual, two

good signings, not enough. How do you reintegrate a player back... And

you said it will be good for Arsenal, but how do you get someone

like that back into the squad? Considering how badly they played at

the weekend as well? I think it will be easy for them because he is their

best player. People will be thinking, can he come in and give us

lift again? He has had a few injury problems in the summer as well. Not

played many games yet, but when the window closes, he is an Arsenal

player and he needs to perform. He needs to get back to the level he

was last season, and he is Arsenal's best player. He will be showing the

talent he has got and he will be looking to move in January or

perhaps wait until next summer. It will be interesting to see how the

fans react because he has obviously been vocal that he wants to leave

and has even told his team-mates in Chile that he is leaving, but he is

a tough boy and we know that. I am sure he will perform and, like I

say, a World Cup year and he will want to do well for Arsenal. Salt in

the wind for Arsenal fans, that week today from Thames Valley Police,

keeping up with deadline day on your phone, please don't check your phone

for updates whilst driving or you'll end up with more points than

Arsenal. A very joke... Harsh for Arsenal fans at the moment, but it

is a difficult time for them. Yes, listen, Arsenal have been a great

club over the years and they still are. Everyone is there to shoot them

down. They are going through a difficult period and probably the

Arsene Wenger thing in the summer did not help them. Is he going to

sign, is he not going to sing? I think that transpired into the

season. From a Manchester City point of view, Jonny Evans is not happy.

One of your old clubs at centre-back short? Probably. None better than

Vincent Kompany at doing that job and that is probably what Jonny

Evans was being brought in for, if he gets injured. I think it will be

at this. He wanted Jonny Evans and Alexis Sanchez and ended up with

neither, so they will probably end up with Mangala going back into the

fold if he doesn't get a move. So he will be disappointed because Jonny

Evans would have been a good player for Manchester City. There is a

young player and Manchester City, did pretty well pre-season,

obviously not ideal not getting Alexis Sanchez, but I believe that

by has a lot. Alexis Sanchez was not the only man in demand today.

COMMENTATOR: Llorente! Fernando Llorente with the goal! Llorente!

And it has finished off like they wanted, Swansea have turned it

around! Llorente, he has done it again! We will talk about that in a

minute. But we need to do this because we have played with some

pretty expensive light bulbs. Wait for it, everybody. It is closed!

relax. A big moment for us all. It has not entirely gone through,

Llorente, to Spurs. He has been pictured in a Spurs shirt. Plenty of

goals for Swansea. How will he fit into that side? Harry Kane is

obviously the front man in that team. I think anyone coming to

Tottenham, unless you are a top top layer, difficult to get in the first

team because they know they're starting XI -- top top player. It

was a back-up. Chelsea wanted him, never went there, went to Tottenham,

and I think he will be an excellent signing as a back-up if anything

happens to Harry Kane. Will he enable them to have a plan B a bit?

I was going to say that. I think he is a great plan B, brilliant in the

air. His hold-up play is superb, he scores goals. I think if you want to

go a bit more direct at times you can go to him whereas Harry Kane is

probably... He doesn't have that skill set in his bag. But he knows

where the goal is. The bigger story on this, the fact that Antonio Conte

missed out on him. I believed Chelsea were in for him, they have

history together, and for him to turn down Chelsea and go to

Tottenham, which it looks like will happen, I think it is a big blow for

Chelsea. Not only that, Lukaku was rumoured, Ross Barkley,

Oxlade-Chamberlain... Disappointing window for Chelsea. From a Spurs

recruitment perspective, from Paris St Germain, Aurier arriving,

Sanchez, some others as well. Yes, they have a great starting XI, at

Tottenham. I think bringing Aurier in, that is a good signing. They

have good back-up now, coming off the bench. They will be a force this

year. The only thing I would say, why so late? And very indifferent

start in August. You almost feel busy after dealing with Daniel

sometimes. Especially with Harry Kane's record. We know he is a great

goal-scorer but you think you would get all your eggs in order... Docs

Before the start of the season, so you can start well. They have

already lost points on rivals. It doesn't make sense. Llorente might

be on his way to Spurs from Swansea. And at the Euros, everybody was

raving about this guy, Renato Sanches, but it didn't quite work

out at Bayern Munich. Do you think it is a shrewd move?

A lot of big characters in the dressing room at Bayern Munich, he

might not have hit the ground running and your confidence is

dented and this boy has not felt a confidence dip in his career and it

was on him, in a foreign country in the Bundesliga and he has not dealt

well with that. Going to Swansea, a big fish in a small pond, he can

really thrive. Paul Clement having history with him, he already has a

relationship with the manager. What about a play at you have played with

at Stoke, Wilfried Bony Chris? ?12 million after leaving to go to

Manchester City for ?12 million, is that a good move? The figures look

good but Swansea need to be able to get the ball to his feet and get

runners behind him. He has not got the pacey had. Is that me setting up

the goal! Did you organise that? Was that a joke? No, it is great. He did

really well bad. The fans love him. Maybe that could restart his career.

But we probably never play to his strengths. He has got to be the main

man and everybody has to go through him and get the runners behind him

and you might see the best of Wilfried Bony. Interesting to see

how he settles in at Swansea. I blame Dennis, where is he? I thought

you had gone for a moment! -- Deadline Dennis. Any more

information you can bring? The window is closed, things can still

happen. There is a deal sheet which enables the clubs to prove a deal

has been completed or agreed and it gives them additional time to submit

the relevant paperwork. Brighton and Hove Albion have signed Newcastle

United goalkeeper Tim Krul on a season-long loan. Linking back up

with Chris Houston. I mentioned about ageing Silva and whether this

has implications for the potential move from Leicester to Chelsea of

Danny Drinkwater which is going to the wire. Silva from sporting Lisbon

to Leicester City looks unlikely, spotting will not sanction the deal

because Leicester's of 4 million pounds was too low for the

Portuguese club. Thank you for the moment. Thank you for your tweet

this evening. What a bad window for Chelsea, we needed more player we

brought in not good enough if we are to compete in Europe and the league.

Both lodging a group agreement with that message. The Champions League

When Sanches walks in, it will be forgotten about. The manager wants

them, Sanches and Virgil van Dijk to stay, but the manager does not want

Costa. If they can get rid of Costa, or if they do not, interesting to

see how the next four mums go at Chelsea. The Spanish window extends

a bit. Yes, until tomorrow. Will Atletico Madrid by him and let him

train? Yes coming he has down to all -- he has downed tools. Alex Oxlade

Chamberlain has swapped of London for the Northwest in one of the most

expensive deals. Oxlade-Chamberlain is heralding the

Liverpool. Arsenal never played him in his strongest position.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has so much going for him. He wants to play central

midfield. He cost Arsenal major goals in the Champions League in

that position. His hero was Stephen Gerrard growing up and he wanted to

play in the middle of the park, that is your position, has he got what it

takes to beat in that position and dominate a game? I think he has. He

has got the power, he has got good pace. He can see a pass. But is he

going to get the movable's midfield, that is the question. They have Adam

Lallana, MHR and, is he going to play in there? Not so sure? It will

be interesting to see what Jurgen Klopp does, but it is a good move.

It is a great move for him. He wants to play sensually and he has been

given assurances. On the world stage, he is world-class he is a

matchwinner. I watch him last week, the power from the right wing, the

right wingback position, the pacey had was incredible. He just needs

more game time and is preferable position is midfield. When you get

him on the pitch and he is fit coming he is as good as anyone. You

look at the statistics and they do not like, you cannot get him to

sustain the Games. But his ability is unquestionable, he is very good.

In terms of him saying yes to Liverpool and no to Chelsea, does

that tell you more about Chelsea or about him?

The bigger story is a rumoured contract on the table with Arsenal

and going to Liverpool for ?120,000 a week. That says he is believing in

the manager, he believes in Jurgen Klopp. For me, I don't know what he

was on at Arsenal, but he has had an uplift. If he had ?80,000 a week, it

is 120,000 a week. ?40,000 a week is a big uplift, he is still increasing

his salary. But he thinks Jurgen Klopp were making a better player

tactically and he feels at the moment he is going to become a

better player with Klopp. So the manager has made the difference.

I am not going to lie, it is slim pickings and not a lot of money has

changed hands and we thought the record might be smashed when --

smashed again. Dwight Gayle was bought by Fulham yesterday. There

could still be a Dale, but the biggest deal of the day is from

Brentford to Birmingham that could be worth up to ?8 million. The third

Brentford player to move to Birmingham in a 24 hour period, I

don't think Harry Redknapp will be on the Christmas list of Dean Smith.

Sheffield Wednesday have brought in Jacob Butterfield on loan from

Derby, a midfielder for a season-long loan and some all has

gone in the opposite direction, the striker. This is unusual, Jordan

Williams joining Rochdale, a Liverpool trainee, and the second

Jordan Williams that has joined Rochdale this transfer window. That

can think tickles my fancy! We like that. Some of the money that has

been spent in the Premier League, how much has filtered down? A heck

of a lot of is the honest answer. Inflation wise, you have only got to

think about the inflation on Aluko, 7.5 million on a way he was on a

free transfer. Sunderland have sold Jordan Pickford, Hull City Harry

Maguire. Wolves have broken the transfer record and Bruno Nevers.

Middlesbrough have spent a lot of centre forwards. ?190 million spent

in total I EFL clubs, 215 has been recouped, so a surplus. So they

could get Kylian Mbappe with a bit of change if they put their money

together! It is another world. Yes, crazy money. There is news from

Stamford Bridge. This has not been confirmed by Chelsea, but it has

been by Torino and Davide Zappacosta has joined Chelsea, ?25 million. So

confirmed by the Italian club Davide Zappacosta has joined Chelsea. Thank

you very much. We joke about Kylian Mbappe but PSG have spent ?200

million on Neymar and they got around the financial fair play by

bringing Mbappe on a loan with this -- with ?165 million. Football is

crazy but it is not fair and everybody else? Do not mess with the

Qatari investors. They want to buy the best talent. They will win the

league. The French league. I think the reason for that is they want to

win the Champions League and the Champions League for the owners is a

big thing. And they put their money where their mouth is. He has had one

good season, Mbappe, he is 18 years old. It is a huge price tag. I am

sure he can take it but there is risk. From what I have seen in the

Champions League, he is a stunning player. I saw him in pre-season for

45 minutes and he was untouchable. He was like Thierry Henry in his

prime, pace and power and his awareness was incredible. We can see

why. The figure is amazing because he is 18, but seeing him in the

flesh, he was top draw. What about Stoke? Six new players in this

window, is that a stronger position? Yes, but we lost a key player.

Walters, Barnsley went. We have had to recruit differently. Ryan in a

big contract today was a big contract. A couple of clubs. A big

player in the dressing room? Yes, captain, one year left on his

contract and signing him was a good one. And Kurt Zuma has been

excellent and is a top player for Chelsea. One thing we have not

mentioned is Philippe Coutinho. Can he keep Philippe Coutinho happy? He

is different commie has appreciated the Reds fans. Most Reds fans

understand it is the Nou Camp and he might never get the opportunity

again and he can integrate back into the squad and play and he will not
