England v Belarus Football: Women's World Cup Qualifiers

Thank you, Dan. Welcome to Bournemouth, where England are about

to kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Belarus.

It is the first time the lionesses have kicked a ball in anger since

their 2013 World Cup campaign, which ended quite prematurely. England are

on their way home after just three group games. The decision-making is

poor, the enthusiasm is not there. I think change is needed. If that is a

change of coach, so be it. This week the FA took the decision to remove

the coach of 15 years. You can look at it and say, could we have, but I

made those decisions, I have done for 15 years and this time it just

didn't work. The situation is what it is, I am going to focus on those

two games and try to help the players perform. Looking further

than that is probably wasted energy. Brent Hills, the caretaker manager

than that is probably wasted energy. for the first two games of the World

Cup qualifying campaign, against Belarus today and Turkey on Thursday

night. It is the first time the national side has played a game

without hope Powell as manager for 15 years. With me now is Sue Smith

and former captain Faye White, as well as Michael Gray, the former

England left back. Brent Hills and the rest of the coaching staff but

no hope Powell. 15 years is such a long time. The girls have said they

are excited by the new era that they are nervous as well about change, I

suppose, because the majority of them will only have played under

hope Powell. They said in training it is really competitive and they

are fighting for position so it is a good thing. Michael, you were

critical during the summer of what you saw from hope Powell. What do

you make of the FA's decision? Brent Hills has his opportunity in the

next couple of games and I hope the players impressed because we need to

improve in every area. In the European Championships in just did

not happen. The players had to perform and hopefully we can come

away with a very good result. Three changes from the England-France

game. Yes, he has brought in Jordan Nobbs to the midfield, sacrificing

Jill Scott and Anita Asante. Lucy Bronze gets a second cap in left

back instead of Steph Houghton, who did not perhaps perform how we

expected in the Euros. Carney is behind the forward line. Just those

couple of tweaks and I am sure he will make changes as the game goes

on. Canada in 2015 is the target. The road starts right here. You can

things and tried to hard at times. We need to get back to keeping the

goal and scoring goals. -- keeping the ball. It is an opportunity for

us to rebuild and prove to ourselves that we can play better. Brent has

been with us, he knows the players, and he has his own ideas.

The teams are on their way. Time to hear from Lucy Ward and Jonathan

Pierce, the Max commentators. -- match. Cool and breezy with about a

crowd of 6000, about half full. It is the start of a new era. England

will be continuing the qualifying can -- tradition started under hope

Powell. They have not conceded a go in 17 qualifiers. They flopped at

the Euros but the women's game in England is far removed from the

sport in Belarus. They have never qualified for any finals. They have

also not played in a year and they were thrashed 4-0 in their previous

visit to England six years ago. Very enthusiastic crowd as we stand for

the anthems. YESTERDAY THE LAROUSSE LOOKED TENSE

IN TRAINING. Three changes from the final defeat

by France in the Euros. Bronze is preferred to Steph Houghton. She was

a European Championships under-19 winner in Belarus. We expect Nobbs

to do a lot of the midfield running. Ellen White keeps her place up

front, even though Natasha Dowie, the Premier League top scorer, is in

the squad. Rachel Yankey is left in the stands. As for Belarus, they

have never finished higher than third in any qualifying group. The

women's game is not as developed in England, 22 - zero, 32-0 scores are

not uncommon. Slisarcyk makes her debut. They are expected to defend

in great numbers. They have beaten the Ukraine away and drawn with

England in recent years. It will be a bit of a test for England because

England want to win these first two games and showed at the results in

England want to win these first two the Euros were a freak. They are

good players and they will feel they have a lot to prove. Brent knows

what White can do. The pitch at Dean Court is really good, a credit to

the ground staff. The referee is a German pharmacist.

The teams have met before. won in Belarus 6-1. Casey Stoner is

earning her 114 cap. -- 114 th. England will kick off with this

unbelievable home qualifying record since France beat them a little

after the 2003 World Cup at Selhurst Park, since then England have not

lost a home qualifier. They will be expected to win this.

If Liverpool win their final game against Bristol they will be the

Premier League champions. Women's football is gaining support all the

time. Nobbs had a terrific FA Cup final for Arsenal.

William will be expected to be a playmaker from a deep as Isham. --

Williams. -- deep position. Fara William, 118 caps.

Swung out of play, it should be a go kick. England will be looking for an

early goal, with the pressure down kick. England will be looking for an

the flanks with Toni Duggan. A bit of hesitation there but this is what

England will be looking for. Dargan has been brought into the game, she

played in the last game of the Euros. -- Toni Duggan. Does this

mean it is the end for Rachel Yankey? It is no disgrace for

Yankey. She is in the stands, I don't know whether she is carrying a

knock on but she brings balance and experience to the England team. She

very nearly nutmeg shellac there. Carney all the way into the box, and

it is 1-0 England! It is definitely what the girls would have expected.

But they needed it. She just managed to get the accuracy of the shot just

into the corner. She curled it right at the end, great start for England.

Great end to the season for Karen Carney. England's first goal of this

2015 World Cup qualifying campaign, the World Cup being held in Canada.

Eight teams from UEFA will qualify for the World Cup. England are in

group six. Wales, Turkey, Montenegrin in there. --

Montenegrin. You can sense the intensity of the England girls. They

had to get the crowd going after the summer they had and get that early

goal. You can see how hard they are working to make sure they win this

comfortably. Very competitive in training. Even though Brent Hills

has been around for a while, you still have to impress him because he

is picking the team. He has made a couple of positional changes, so

they have to impress him. Linnik is playing in a deeper role

than we thought she would be. Just in front of Shpak.

Williams left Everton last season to go to Liverpool. That was offside. I

suspect the afternoon will follow a similar pattern, whenever England

suspect the afternoon will follow a attack. They need to make sure they

do not get frustrated. They need to score a lot of goals.

It is quite nice to see a different team other than Arsenal win the

league in women's football. That shows they are getting these good

players in and competing with Arsenal.

Arsenal have done so well but we are all here to see women's football

progress in this country. To have three or four teams when you do not

know who will win the domestic title is good for the game. It has been a

good start by England. They should go on and win handsomely from this

only platform. -- early platform. England conceded a home goal in the

qualifiers. Duggan is quick, but not back quick

which she recognises. Belarus cannot pull their lines.

The goalkeeper has not played this season at club level. She has only

made a couple of appearances in the last few years. Belarus do not want

to move -- keep the ball on the edge of the box. They have to get it

further up the pitch which they are not doing at the moment.

England need to be able to compete at this level so playing between the

lines is the way they want to play. Not a structured as they have been

in the past but more free-flowing with the players they have and

interchanging positions. Vasilyeva taking the free kick.

The goalkeeper is on the side very much with the gamer on Thursday in

mind. We have three good goalkeepers in the squad. Some people expressed

surprise at Siobhan Chamberlain's form but Brent Hills has gone for

experience and knows exactly what she is capable of. She wants to make

sure she is ready for Thursday. She is a good keeper.

The only way Belarus will have sniff of goal is when England are

attacking using a set piece or throwing bodies forwards. The back

four of England are pretty comfortable at the moment. England

passing in need triangles. -- meet. She should have scored from their!

It could have been 2-0. The initial run from Duggan started with a

really good touch infield. The keeper got her body behind it.

Louise could not get the defenders to it first. There was a miskicked

from Aluko. -- a miss kick. Toni Duggan and Jordan Nobbs want to

get goals this afternoon and show they are the players to take England

forwards. She gets it this time! Belarus look to the flag which stays

down. 2-0. Well taken. An excellent move down the left-hand side. White

took a touch to steady herself. That will give her confidence. A good

finish. She atones for her earlier error and

gives England a comfortable push. Her 15th international goal and ten

for Arsenal this season. A season which started along while ago with

European football. It would not surprise me to see Brent Hills share

the number nine role today. He might give Natasha Dowie half the

game. This time she was offside. I am not

sure if it was Ellen White. She's looking at the assistant referee. It

is her. It fell to Karen Carney. It was not.

I do not think she was fully fit at the European Championships. For

various reasons they were not playing as well as they should have

been. The Belarus defenders do not look

athletic as the England girls. I think that has a big effect.

Here come Belarus again. At international level they are way

behind English women's football class. It is compulsory in every

Belarus school, women's football on the curriculum. They have to have

eight girl's football team in every school. That is brilliant and the

way forwards. You will see the effects of that in five or ten years

but at the moment there is a massive golf which is pretty apparent.

England have now scored 61 goals and conceded only four in their two

qualifying games. -- in their qualifying games.

Belarus have not been able to hold onto Carney.

Astashova was decent in training last night.

Good play. They are moving their defenders about and finding space,

England. But as what you have to do when you have a team that has to

defend for 90 minutes. You have to get yourself into a space. Not

exactly what Duggan wanted to do. Still getting wide. She scored

against Russia in the European Championships.

Jordan Nobbs is looking good, full of confidence. She can receive the

ball and the pressure -- under pressure. She will not lose her

place now. Great scorer in the world cup

qualifiers, Fara William, 14 goals. The ball is still in play. Kept in

by Carney. She tried to do a little bit too much on the ball.

Was that handball? Belarus thought so.

When somebody comes short for the goal, like there, another player

runs in behind to take up the pace. Good movement. A lot better than

what we have seen recently. Obviously Belarus are not do the

same standard as England have faced recently but you play what is in

front of you. Going forward with the new manager, whoever that may be,

the likes of Eniola Aluko, who have that experience, we saw her effort,

she struck it with some venom. The keeper had to punch it away. Back in

the day the ball did not move as quickly.

Ellen White is a good number nine, she works so hard off the ball come

creates opportunities for others and it sometimes goes unnoticed.

Williams is always a player available.

Not a bad effort by White. It was worth an effort, trying to curl over

the keeper. A bit too high on that occasion. Strikers need a bit of

confidence, score a go and then the opportunities come.

The first meaningful attack by Belarus. Not a bad effort by

Astashova. It is the first time they have thrown together three or four

passes. The way they played down the left-hand side is not something we

have seen yet,. Just a hint of something, or you don't want to give

them any encouragement, but they are an international side, they have

beaten teams before. Belarus have taken Slisarcyk off, they need --

they have taken on Yulia Borisenko, who plays in Russia.

She has played 16 times for Belarus, one of the most experienced players

in the squad. White... Good recovery by the keeper. She deserved her

luck. A great through ball but the whole of the chance was created by

Ellen White's bravery, the fact that she went into the keeper and that

created the opportunity for Alex Scott. She saw the space, had a go,

but Ellen White has got better as the game has gone on. Alex Scott

used to be a striker, she probably wanted to score.

A special goal! England, 3-0. 26 minutes gone. Carney was not really

under any pressure but she had to execute the strike. She has been

given all of this freedom, it was not really in the top keeper if you

look at the keeper. -- the top corner. She has done really well,

created for others and got a couple herself, really affected in the

number ten role. They are doing their best to get Brent Hills the

job on a full-time basis. He says he is interested in it. He has these

two games in charge. Paul Reilly, based in New York, has said he is

interested. Ellen White , getting in behind Vasilyeva. I think there will

be a few applicants for the post. The floodgates could be about to

open. Kiose did just enough. Belarus obviously recognise the

problem down the left side with Alex Scott and Karen Carney, they have

made the substitutions. Pulled back just behind Jordan Nobbs and

thundered away. They won't take any chances with Thursday's game, in

mind of the 3-0 cushion here. They will be dying to get on the

scoresheet and get themselves a bit of confidence, but they will not

want to lose Karen Carney. England very much in control, as

they will have expected to be. They have one seven of the last eight

matches, following defeat by Germany in one of them.

Good challenge by Aluko. It is not going to win her any medals but it

is the kind of challenge that a manager looks out for. When she was

younger it was all about her attacking and now she is more

composed about the way that she defends from the front and for a

manager that is invaluable. In the 2005 European Championships, against

Denmark, having taken an A-level history exam that morning she played

that match. She is probably the brightest amongst the girls but when

it comes to common sense the girls have a bit of a laugh at her. She

takes it in good spirit though. The level but Belarus are at, she runs

takes it in good spirit though. The at them and they have a real

problem. -- that Belarus. They have blown away a few cobwebs with this

performance. You have two concentrate on the performances in

front of you. It shows that women's football is now seen seriously,

because of the outpouring of criticism for the girls and the

manager in the summer. It shows people are watching it and you have

to take the rough with the smooth. Today is about being positive and

going forwards and the girls are absolutely capable of that. Still

need more girls coming into the game at club level. They can lay in mixed

teams until 15. -- play. These girls are role models for young girls

playing. There is no real urgency to the

defending of Belarus. I expect the manager is on the edge of his seat

sometimes. The referee went to the manager is on the edge of his seat

Belarus goalkeeper a moment ago and warned her about time wasting. They

are 3-0 down, why on earth would she? Maybe she was reminding her she

can only hold the ball for a certain amount of time. I don't think

Belarus were expecting anything other than what has happened in the

first half an hour and damage limitation is what I suspect they

have come to do. A little step over by Eniola Aluko,

a talented player. She had a spell out in America, a few in the women's

team did that. By the time the girls get to senior level they have really

good experience with international games, tournament playing being

completely different to these internationals. You mix them in with

a bit of experience but the young girls have been easy as and the

confidence to take the game forward in this country.

Ellen White scored in the third and 26th minute. This could be for four

England. She has been around a while. 30

years of age now. When it lands with a centre half,

you can expect something to say that -- something like that to happen.

England expected them to come and park the bus. It has been virtually

like that. England have played cleverly. They are keeping

possession. Ellen White has dropped back deep.

Carney has been outstanding. You have to learn to receive the ball

under pressure which will help the girls when they play better teams.

If you can receive the ball under pressure, and give it to somebody

else, at international level, that is the way to get yourself forwards.

The fact that Inga Schwimmer in use to have to go to the States to play

there, those days are long gone, which is a good sign for English

football. -- the fact that English women used to have to go to the

United States. That gets the standard up. It raises the game at

international level. That is what we will be looking for after the

disappointment of the summer. The Belarus officials were asking me

before the game how much the English players get paid. My men's standards

it is a pittance but they were still wide-eyed when they found out. I

think the top wage is capped at £20,000 a year at the English clubs.

It has taken a long time to get where it has put a lot of good work

being done in the FA to enable players to be on contracts and get

that wage. And because of the popularity the girls do appearances

that wage. And because of the and go into school and things like

that which is brilliant. Really bad defending. Carney was

fortunate there to not have a free kick given against her.

Mirashnichenka kept composed and got it away. Scott did not take it in

her stride. She had a spell in America with the Boston Breakers

club but then went back to Arsenal. 4-0 England! What a first half she

has had. Inside 40 minutes. Carney is definitely on fire. Fortunately

the ball landed in front of her. Jordan Nobbs did really well. A

great finish. A great half from Karen Carney. A 37 minute hat-trick

for Carney. England could have had seven but

they have done exactly what they needed to do.

England's long run of successful home games continues. They have won

their last 14 home matches since Iceland beat them in a friendly in

their last 14 home matches since July 2009. A foul against Fara

Williams. England have matched their scoreline

against the last time they take Belarus at home in 2007. -- they

played. They have to settle for a corner but

a brilliant first half. Belarus are struggling to defend never mind with

the pace that Aluko has and keeping up with her. One criticism in the

European Championships was other teams looked fitter than as. We are

a lot superior to Belarus. Goal kick. I have watched Lucy

Bronze a lot for Liverpool this season and I am impressed with her.

The intensity of her play is really good. She is athletic and has two

good feet. She is a little bit like Steph Houghton. She had a

disappointing European Championships. England seem to lose

their zest in the finals. They have their hunger back here and

determination. They do look good. There are a couple of players --

there were a couple of of key There are a couple of players --

players struggling with injuries. Now we have a great squad. We just

need to show that. A lot of younger players coming in like Lucy Bronze

who is just 21. England have played very well

throughout the team. Yes, it is important. Only and Bradley. They

have not had that much of the ball. -- Stoney. They are doing the simple

things well. That should have been five! Heading

is not what she is known for four scoring ability. She thought the

keeper was coming out to her. Seconds remaining stoppage time. --

remain in stoppage time. England did not need any luck. They played very

well. A terrific hat-trick I Karen Carney who has been outstanding.

Ellen White missed a couple of chances but got the other goal.

England could have had seven or eight against vast li in theory

opponents. A great first half for England. -- fastly inferior.

The England supporters in Bournemouth enjoy that first half.

We had a great view of all the goals. So, what did you make of it?

That is exactly what we wanted. They have kept the ball, kept possession

really well. They actually said they have done the simple things well

which is what we wanted them to do. For fantastic goals. I'm hoping for

more in the second half. We looked a lot sharper and brighter. A lot of

players wanting to get on the ball to show what they can do. Fara

Williams had a lot of space in midfield and Carney has been all

over the place to get on the ball and make something happen. Alex

Scott and Lucy Bronze have got forwards. It is easy when you are

playing a team like Belarus as you get more space and time and you are

not worried when the ball goes behind you. And inferior

opposition. There is no disguising that. You can see the enthusiasm in

opposition. There is no disguising the players. They all have a smile

opposition. There is no disguising on their faces. They get a lot of

time on the ball because Belarus are very poor but you can only beat what

is in front of you. The gulls have gone out and played very well. A

superb first half. I like the way the girls are mixing in the

midfield. Ellen White looks very lively. Early on in the game, she

stamped her authority. She was closing down two or three times.

That set the standard for the other players. England did not have to

wanted an early goal. That is exactly what we were saying. It

relaxed them. We mentioned we wanted Karen Carney and Williams tube get

on the ball like that. She did so well. It is that burst, that yard of

pace. She manages to put it in the bottom corner. A great finish. We

wanted a finish at that time. Chances started to come thick and

fast. Ellen White had a glorious one. She worked incredibly hard for

the team. Sometimes she does not make enough of the chances she gets.

Some good play and movement. Lots of bodies forwards. I think it is

Duggan getting the strike away. The players react and has Carney quick

on the ball. She is very influential. That is the chance you

have to take. She will be disappointed when she sees chances

like that list but she scored afterwards. You need to get a foot

over the ball and drive it into the bottom of the net. She did not have

to wait too long to get another chance. This time she took it. It

was great that her to school. It is a fresh ring. Not just Ellen White

but the bodies in the area. This was not there in the European

Championships. Great movement. It is lovely. A great first touch. She

plays it around the keeper. That is what you want from your striker. A

lovely finish. Jordan Nobbs, great understanding between them, they

obviously played together. She missed the chance and three minutes

later bounced back with the confidence, she did really well.

Karen Carney was really the player of the first half. She was

constantly looking for the ball, playing behind Ellen White, we saw

her on the left and the right. She did well to play this inside and

what a lovely finish. That is a player full of confidence, she looks

up, sees where the keeper is and that is an absolute top corner. She

has got herself into a great position as well. She wanted to take

that strike on and it is a brilliant finish. We were saying, smash it,

and she did. We wanted her to score a hat-trick and she probably heard

that as well. She deserved it. Her movement in the first up was

excellent. It is all about confidence when she got into the

area. We talk about Hirst -- how strong her right foot is, but this

one fell to her left. She got a bit unlucky, challenge their and she was

in the right area. We did not get bodies in the box in the Euros. If

you get people in the box you get opportunities and that is what she

has done in the first half. You can see there are four or five options

every time they got the ball. They have definitely proven a point

today. An extremely positive first half performance from England. They

are experiencing a first-time -- for the first time a half-time team talk

from a manager other than hope Powell. Some of the players have

been talking about huge impact that Hope has had on the game.

When Hope started, there was just the senior team, no education system

for young players coming through. Really she put that in place and now

it is a comprehensive system, right from under 12 -- under 15, two under

and the seniors. -- through to under 23 and the seniors. We are expected

to qualify for every tournament and that is because of Hope. She has

focused on youth. I was so low during my drinking days and Hope

gave me the help I needed, she said I want you to be a more confident

human being. If I did not have heard your in those tough times, years

ago, I probably would not be playing football, I probably would have

taken a different route. When I was young there was not a centre of

excellence and the opportunities that girls have. The opportunities

for girls to play are far greater than they were. She was here for 15

years, we started qualifying for major tournaments, got to the

finals, and you can't forget that. When she first got the job there

were girls working full-time at their other jobs, trying to train,

and she introduced new contracts. She has done so much for the game

and I am sure all the girls wish her luck with whatever she does next.

Hope Powell, having achieved a huge amount for women's football in

England and having had to ask for a lot from the FA, dragging women's

football into the modern error. Do you remember the time she was

appointed England manager? I played her in the team and she got

appointed the next day, I went from being a team-mate to her being my

manager. She has transformed the women's game. When we started

playing we did not have sports scientists, nutritionists. She has

brought that for grass roots to the national team and all credit to

her. She has changed the game to where it is today and we have to be

thankful. What do you think is the most important thing she has

achieved? The whole setup, going to the international games. When we

were young we went straight into the seniors. We did not have the

opportunity to play under 15 at international level. She brought

that in very quickly and was able to bring that pathway in, and the

scouting to bring the best players through quickly. Also changing the

scouting to bring the best players culture. A lot of players, it was a

social thing, and a lot of players at international level, they did not

train and off, they were not professional off the pitch, and we

had to change that. Younger players, it is second nature to them, the way

they look after themselves off the pitch as well as on it. I think she

has to stay in women's football because she has achieved so much.

Maybe you way for, but she has two stay within the game. -- UEFA.

Dan Ashworth will be closely involved in the selection process

for a new manager. I am sure you have had plenty of applications.

Where is the process up to? The application process is closed so we

have short listed. They will go through the same process as with the

head coach, to make sure we are ready for the next bubble header, we

have somebody in place for that. -- double header. It has to be the

right person for the role, and outstanding coaching pedigree,

obviously an affinity with the female game, and experience in

international football. Does it need to be a woman? Not at all. We have

had applications from men and women, it just has to be the right person.

We have short listed, we want to get these two games out of the way, and

then we will have an extensive interview process in the next couple

of weeks. When we are convinced we have the right person we will make

an announcement. Are you looking at making wider changes in the women's

goal? Yes, we have the head of women's elite, who will perhaps look

at the structures beneath the head coach role, looking at the 15,

19-year-old teams. You have to say coach role, looking at the 15,

that Brent Hills has made a great start in his two games in charge. I

am sure he will be delighted with the first 45 minutes. The tempo, the

energy they have played with, winning back the ball early, which

has led to two or three goals. But the game is not over yet.

One of the highlights of Hope's career was leading England to a

world Cup quarterfinal. The Olympic -- and Olympic quarterfinal.

We will be meeting a host of sporting heroes and discovering the

stars of tomorrow. Joining me this month, Britain's most successful

British gymnast, event Mary King. -- eventer.

are in pursuit of world titles. Chris Froome is the champion. Mark

Cavendish has won the world title for Great Britain. Lizzie Armistead

gets the silver per Great Britain. Chris Froome crosses the line as the

winner of the 2013 Tour de France. 4-0 to England at Bournemouth at

half-time, so far so good. They have not been to tested by Belarus but

they had one chance. Astashova, I know you know her very well! They

had a decent opportunity, came down the left-hand side, but it came to

nothing in the end. This is what England have to be careful of. It is

a ball into the area, a bit of movement. A better header might have

caused problems but it came to nothing in the end. It gave England

a little bit of a scare but otherwise it has been front foot

forward, England looking to score as many as possible. Will you expect

many changes in the second half? I think so, give players a chance, let

Natasha Dowie have a chance. I am expecting more goals. We want more

but they will be miles away at the other end of the pitch! Let's go

back to our commentary team, Jonathan Pearce and Lucy Ward.

The second half will resume with a Belarus substitution. I think Hanna

Pilipenka is going to come on. She plays in Russian football. She has

only been involved in the last qualifying campaign, for the Euros,

once. She has come on for Miller Asha Janke -- Mirashnichenka. That

is a bit of a surprise. Belarus are 4-0 down.

Belarus look sluggish in comparison with England in the first half. --

Belarus looked. They also looked startled at times.

Pilipenka has come on very much up front.

I don't know if there is much that Belarus can do. They are overpowered

but perhaps they could look at getting a set piece up the match,

drawing England in, but they do not really have the athletic ability or

the pace to do that. The time they did keep the ball for three or four

passes, they created an opportunity for themselves.

Williams again in space. Belarus have not pressed the ball, they have

allowed Williams and Nobbs too much space. Carney as well.

Drawn to far across space therefore Toni Duggan. -- too far.

Every time we get the ball there are yards of space. You have to get in

With 74 minutes gone, I wonder whether or not Rachel Brown will

touch. The keeper got to that in the end, bouncing awkwardly in front of

her. Always difficult for a keeper, a strike on goal that bounces in

front. She has done badly in some things today and been amazing in

little to do. They are always positive and do simple things well.

Belarus. Once or twice Kharlanova has shown

good touches. Belarus are simply putting bodies in

the way now. Kiose has stayed down. Linnik has

hardly touched the ball in the game. It is always harder when you are

chasing the ball and do not have possession. Carney is announced as

chasing the ball and do not have the official man of the match.

That is the player we wanted to see on the ball. England were aware of

her. I suspect in a better team she is more effective.

The keeper has made some crucial saves. It is amazing how you can

punch a ball out. She has had some very good technical saves. A shame

for Jordon Nobbs who has been excellent throughout. Absolutely.

here. Is that what you expected? I think so. You could see they had

something to prove, they wanted to get those results, players wanted to

get on the ball, in the box. It is just what we asked of them in the

Euros. They have showed what a talented group of players they are.

Everybody that came on, they really did well. I am really pleased, job

done, and I am sure the girls will be happy. I think towards the end it

went a lot slower, the tempo was not as quick. The first half, Carney set

the pace with her performance, wanting to get on the ball. The

second half, some of the changes meant it got a bit witty in places.

I thought that Lucy Bronze had a very good going game. -- good game.

Jordan Nobbs had a good game as well. Let's look at the hat-trick

from Karen Carney in the first half. She was excellent in the first half.

The first goal she made herself and it looked like it was going to miss

but it creep in of the grass. The second one, a great finish as well

with her right foot. Fantastic finish and she deserved it. She

scores the third with her left foot and very well deserved, the player

of the match as well. Overall a very good performance. Natasha Dowie has

scored 19 goals in 20 games. Yes, her club form is fantastic. But for

this championship you could see that she wanted the ball. This was her

first and second touch, the first touch came off the bar and the

second touch came back to her. A touch came off the bar and the

lovely header. Karen Carney, very influential, a lovely ball in. That

is the kind of ball that Natasha once. -- wants. Aluko has been

banging in goals for years and years and she has Dowie to thanks for

being a provider. It comes down the left, Dowie shows players where she

once the ball. She has lots of space but it is good to see her

awareness, she knows where the players are around her, and she

awareness, she knows where the brings it into the danger area. It

is good that they have that understanding. She has added a lot

to her game in recent years, Aluko. We are pitch side now with Natasha

Yes, I think the girls want to forget about that. It was a good 6-0

win and we need to take that into the Turkey game. A great start for

Brent Hills. Yes, he has come in and we want to try to get six points in

two games and we are halfway there. We have more of a test on Thursday

but we will give it our best. It is a confidence boost, getting new

place, I saw her coming into the Arsenal team. She puts in good

performances week in, week out. She brings energy to the team. Here in

Bournemouth a successful start to England's World Cup qualifying

campaign, victory over Belarus proving there is life after Hope.
