Well! This is fabulous stuff! What a start to the season! Fantastic!

:00:20.:00:24.

What entertainment! We have a race on our hands.

:00:24.:00:34.
:00:34.:00:34.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 53 seconds

:00:34.:01:28.

race back, you promised he would sort out the accommodation, and

:01:28.:01:34.

there is no sign of it. You said it would be here before sundown.

:01:34.:01:39.

Choke! I said at Silverstone that we would have a nice walk to the

:01:39.:01:48.

circuit, and we did, or on the wing of a plane. Exactly! This time, I

:01:48.:01:53.

am going to go one better. I will get your transport and

:01:53.:02:03.
:02:03.:02:14.

Impressive! This is bigger than my house! All aboard, boys! I want a

:02:14.:02:24.
:02:24.:02:26.

seat at the back of the bus! I like your skills. I came here in the

:02:26.:02:31.

mid-70s in Formula Three, it was a motor home in a different guise.

:02:31.:02:37.

was a transit van! I was so passionate, I did not care. I know

:02:37.:02:47.
:02:47.:03:00.

ludicrous! This track is a legend on the Grand Prix calendar. Racing

:03:00.:03:05.

fans come here in their droves, not corporate people, not big sponsors.

:03:05.:03:15.
:03:15.:03:30.

Anything can happen here. Jordan my son! I'll be lost?! You are

:03:30.:03:36.

always told me you know this place like the back of your hand. We are

:03:36.:03:41.

back at the bar! We are governed the scenic route! We have made it!

:03:41.:03:48.

What is your greatest moment here? 1998, first and second, Damon Hill,

:03:48.:03:54.

Michael Schumacher. Eddie Jordan, at last, after all of his efforts!

:03:54.:04:01.

It is easy. David Coulthard wins! My all-time high. Goodnight. Good

:04:01.:04:08.

night. Goodnight. It could night. Good night. Good night. Could you

:04:08.:04:18.
:04:18.:04:56.

What is going on?! It is a racing to the action!

:04:56.:05:00.

The action does not come faster or more breathtaking or more the sort

:05:00.:05:05.

of around this place. Spa- Francorchamps for the 20 top Grand

:05:05.:05:10.

Prix. Next time you sort out the accommodation, something with three

:05:10.:05:15.

bedrooms! I did the best that I could. I think we should give this

:05:15.:05:23.

a way! You could look very good in a tie get fed! Enjoy that! It was a

:05:23.:05:31.

bit of fun, but there is a serious point, that is how it used to be,

:05:31.:05:35.

with you watching this race. This is a proper racetrack. This is not

:05:35.:05:39.

a place for the major corporates, this is where the fans finish their

:05:39.:05:45.

summer holidays. They come here in their droves, they make this a

:05:45.:05:49.

special... It is a shrine, almost. It is these guys that make the

:05:49.:05:56.

atmosphere. Everywhere we went, we were hounded, but in a nice way,

:05:57.:06:01.

everybody wanted to be part of the action, they like the BBC, they

:06:01.:06:07.

like us getting a mugs the people, and they made sure we knew that we

:06:07.:06:12.

were appreciated. If we take a look at the calendar, the important

:06:12.:06:19.

thing is that this was one of only four seconds left that was around

:06:19.:06:24.

when the racing first started in 1950. You can feel the romanticism,

:06:24.:06:30.

you could almost hear the echoes of the old engines. Picking up on what

:06:30.:06:35.

we were seeing, we saw a lot of Union Jacks, but because of its

:06:35.:06:42.

location, we have a lot of Germans, Dutch, Belgians, obviously, and the

:06:42.:06:48.

BBC, and a lot of them are watching the BBC feed. They are multilingual.

:06:48.:06:54.

Of course! It is a lovely place today. This is the way that 2012

:06:54.:07:00.

shapes up. The other three races from 1950, do you know the others?

:07:00.:07:06.

I thought you might talk to me. Monza, the British Grand Prix, Spa-

:07:06.:07:16.
:07:16.:07:16.

Francorchamps, and... Monaco! Of course! 62 years ago, for the first

:07:16.:07:19.

time, Formula One drivers turned up here, and all of these years later,

:07:19.:07:29.
:07:29.:07:44.

they are still to win that. turning appear? Was there an

:07:44.:07:51.

element of nerves? I grew up watching on the TV, I raced here in

:07:51.:07:58.

1990, I sat at Eau Rouge in 1991, I watched Ayrton Senna and Nigel

:07:58.:08:02.

Mansell, I had the fourth and experience, and then I would hear.

:08:02.:08:11.

It is an awesome experience. It is a roller-coaster ride, the average

:08:11.:08:16.

speed is 220 kilometres an hour, so it is when a racing car comes alive.

:08:16.:08:22.

Michael Schumacher arrives for his 300 or two Grand Prix. His first

:08:22.:08:29.

was here for you in 1991. Did you honestly realise the talent that

:08:29.:08:35.

you had that weekend? We tested for the first time in Silverstone on

:08:35.:08:40.

the Tuesday, he was remarkable, there was only one other driver who

:08:40.:08:44.

could fill the kind of excitement that he failed, and that was Ayrton

:08:45.:08:51.

Senna. These are brilliant people. He goes down as the greatest

:08:51.:08:54.

ambassador, seven times the world champion, you cannot not admire

:08:54.:08:59.

what he has done. The team have created a special front wing it,

:08:59.:09:05.

you did almost two Hu Jia and 50, how much of an achievement is this

:09:05.:09:13.

-- you did almost 250? The only person who did more is Rubens

:09:13.:09:17.

Barrichello, and if he carries on next year, he would beat him. He

:09:17.:09:23.

would have every record in 4 min one. It is quite a special thing. I

:09:23.:09:27.

am sure that front wing will end up hanging in his living room. They

:09:27.:09:32.

have got a normal one for the race, that was just for him. The bad news

:09:32.:09:36.

for him, they have to change his engine earlier, and when they

:09:36.:09:42.

started the car, his KERS unit packed up. This is the work going

:09:42.:09:50.

on. They are hoping to repair it, so he can make his way out. For

:09:50.:09:59.

Michael, bases and to forget so far, but for you, a season to remember.

:09:59.:10:03.

The season opened in Australia, and it was Jenson Button that took the

:10:03.:10:07.

first victory and the early lead in the championship. That was

:10:07.:10:12.

fantastic, a great race. As the weather changed, so did the picture

:10:12.:10:17.

in the championship. Sergio Perez was stunning in second in Malaysia,

:10:17.:10:20.

but Fernando Alonso took the victory. You have got to love this,

:10:20.:10:26.

it is only the second Grand Prix! Nico Rosberg took his first ever

:10:26.:10:32.

victory in China. The first victory for Mercedes since 1955!

:10:32.:10:35.

Consistency was elusive, and Lewis Hamilton led the points, despite

:10:35.:10:39.

failing to win a Grand Prix this year. We headed to the deserts of

:10:39.:10:44.

Bahrain, and despite two previous winners fighting it out, Sebastian

:10:44.:10:50.

Vettel became the fourth winner this season. It is the first Red

:10:50.:10:57.

Bull winner of 2012, and the first podium for the Lotus in a long time.

:10:57.:11:01.

Formula One headed back into Europe, and Barcelona was the scene of the

:11:01.:11:06.

shock result so far. Pastor Maldonado wins in Spain, the first

:11:06.:11:10.

and a Venezuelan to do that, the fifth driver to do with this year,

:11:10.:11:15.

what a start! After his glory in Spain, he failed to impress in

:11:15.:11:20.

Monaco, in a race that belonged to Mark Webber. He becomes the sixth

:11:20.:11:26.

different winner in 2012. Monaco victories, two impressive

:11:26.:11:31.

celebrations. Every phrase had seen a different winner, and the trend

:11:31.:11:35.

continued in Canada, as Lewis Hamilton past Fernando Alonso.

:11:35.:11:41.

Lewis Hamilton becomes the seventh different winner of 2012 off.

:11:41.:11:44.

reclaimed his lead in the championship. Sergio Perez proved

:11:44.:11:50.

his podium in Malaysia was not just a one-off, third place. In Valencia,

:11:50.:11:55.

Sebastian Vettel had a commanding lead. But a mechanical error cost

:11:55.:12:01.

him the race. Pastor Maldonado grinned Lewis Hamilton's Chancellor.

:12:01.:12:04.

That meant Fernando Alonso took an emotional victory and became the

:12:04.:12:08.

first repeat winner of the year. Silverstone saw him continue to run

:12:08.:12:13.

at the front, but ultimately, he could not fend off Mark Webber. The

:12:13.:12:18.

Australian got his second win of the season, but this marked a low

:12:18.:12:23.

point for McLaren, and in the eighth place and tenth place. In

:12:23.:12:27.

Hockenheim, Fernando Alonso Bostel the man to beat. Jenson Button good

:12:27.:12:34.

fight at the front with Sebastian Vettel. All four wheels off.

:12:34.:12:39.

Sebastian Vettel was the motive for the past. Fernando Alonso took the

:12:39.:12:43.

victory. Lewis Hamilton accused the upgrades in Hungary to fend off

:12:43.:12:51.

Kimi Raikkonen. Fernando Alonso has a commanding lead as we headed into

:12:51.:12:57.

the mid-season break. I am sure you are delighted the

:12:57.:13:02.

mid-season break is over. It has been exciting so far. We have nine

:13:02.:13:12.
:13:12.:13:19.

his 4-point gap. But Red Bull will be aware that those 246 points can

:13:19.:13:29.

be gobbled up. Lewis Hamilton has got his sunglasses on, he is a

:13:29.:13:37.

rock'n'roll star! Ross Brawn has said he thinks it has been too

:13:37.:13:43.

unpredictable this season. Can you relate to that? It can never be too

:13:43.:13:46.

unpredictable. The re-emergence of Williams into the winner's circle

:13:46.:13:52.

cap it all, it was fascinating, because nobody expected that so

:13:52.:13:57.

quickly after the season they had last year. That was capitalised

:13:57.:14:02.

upon by Sauber. What they are to win, it is amazing. They are right

:14:02.:14:07.

in the mix, against the big teams. A lot of people are hoping they can

:14:07.:14:13.

spring a big surprise. regulations have been stable, the

:14:13.:14:19.

double diffuses have gone out, people are understanding the tyres,

:14:19.:14:25.

so the Grid has become a lot closer. 1% covers the top 10, a small

:14:25.:14:31.

amount. You would want that. But in terms of pace, and depending on the

:14:31.:14:35.

racetrack, different cars are ushering form. Sauber in qualifying

:14:35.:14:42.

have taken a step forward this weekend. Come with me, let's walk

:14:42.:14:47.

to Jenson Button's garage. It is lovely here with the sun out. You

:14:47.:14:52.

might not even be aware, but since he arrived at McLaren, it has not

:14:52.:14:58.

picked up a pole position. His last one was in 2009, in Monaco.

:14:58.:15:05.

Yesterday, could he write a few wrongs?

:15:05.:15:08.

Jenson Button took his first pole position in Formula One in some 60

:15:08.:15:13.

Grand Prix races, his first since joining McLaren. He did it in style,

:15:13.:15:17.

the fastest time in each of these sessions, to earn his first top-

:15:17.:15:21.

three start since ran to in Malaysia. Sauber had one of their

:15:21.:15:25.

best ever sessions, Kamui Kobayashi on the front row for the first time.

:15:25.:15:35.
:15:35.:15:37.

Sergio Perez will start in fourth sixth. Webber has a five-place

:15:37.:15:40.

penalty due to an unscheduled gearbox change. Of the other

:15:40.:15:46.

leading contenders, Raikkonen is best placed in third. His last win

:15:46.:15:56.
:15:56.:16:28.

in Formula One came at Spa. That face at the front. Jenson Button,

:16:28.:16:33.

for the first time in a long time, walks into the garage in pole

:16:33.:16:38.

position. What a dominant weekend for him so far. We spoke to Martin

:16:38.:16:40.

Whitmarsh before qualifying and they didn't expect they have that

:16:41.:16:48.

kind of pace. When he is comfortable with the car, he takes

:16:48.:16:53.

it forward. He was Supreme in qualifying. The team didn't know

:16:53.:16:58.

that was his first pole position for them. Very emotional day for

:16:58.:17:03.

him. There's only one bit of bad news on pole position and that is

:17:03.:17:07.

that you have 23 cars behind you. Eddie is chatting to a couple of

:17:07.:17:14.

guys who will be chasing Jenson. I am joined by a couple of heroes of

:17:14.:17:19.

the hour. First time on the front row. Talk us through how your

:17:19.:17:26.

heartbeat will be. Something very exciting. I always wanted it, but

:17:26.:17:34.

of course in Spa it is something very special. This was a team job

:17:34.:17:39.

and the team had a really Gate -- built a really great car. I'm very

:17:39.:17:43.

happy. Finally we've made it. Having nobody in the front is

:17:43.:17:47.

something special, but at the moment I have no idea what I will

:17:47.:17:51.

do. Sergio, your best-ever qualifying, you must be eyeing up

:17:51.:17:56.

your team-mate. Have you thought about how the team should be formed

:17:56.:18:03.

and not getting each other's way? We always have respect for each

:18:03.:18:10.

other. We are in a great position for the team and we want to race

:18:10.:18:17.

for our team, try to maximise the result. We have very little data of

:18:17.:18:22.

what to expect from the race today. We have raised in high fuel with

:18:22.:18:26.

these conditions. The most important thing for the team is to

:18:26.:18:32.

maximise the potential. If we have the pace to win, we should take the

:18:32.:18:37.

win or finish as high as we can. want to presuppose something. You

:18:37.:18:41.

are running first and second, you're on the last lap and you're

:18:41.:18:48.

going up the hill from Eau Rouge, who gives way? It will depend who

:18:48.:18:55.

has the position. We will fight hard, but we will have respect for

:18:55.:18:59.

the team. At the end of the day, it is important for the team to get

:18:59.:19:03.

the wind if possible. Her that says it all, fantastic day yesterday,

:19:03.:19:08.

let's hope it continues. Come graduation situ Sauber, but

:19:08.:19:14.

that they belong to Button. -- congratulations to Sauber. Either

:19:14.:19:18.

side of Button, some very large wing mirrors and he might need them

:19:18.:19:28.
:19:28.:19:30.

today. Plenty of people will be coming. You were in your twenties

:19:30.:19:35.

for your last pole position, correct? I was, actually! A little

:19:35.:19:41.

while ago. It means a lot to do it around Spa. It was impressive, the

:19:41.:19:50.

way you did it. You had been fast rule qualifying from Q1. Year, the

:19:50.:19:57.

first running Q1 -- Q1, I had a bit of understeer. From the word go,

:19:57.:20:02.

and the car felt reasonably good. Braking into the first turn, a lock

:20:02.:20:08.

up front write a little bit, which didn't cost me any time. Now the

:20:08.:20:15.

run down to Eau Rouge, which is seventh gear. Pretty easy if you

:20:15.:20:20.

position the car right. It looks amazing on-camera. An amazing

:20:20.:20:26.

experience and it is quicker than it looks on TV. Up the straight,

:20:26.:20:30.

seventh gear. I hit the limit or a little bit early and it is third

:20:30.:20:34.

gear for the first day pigs, third gear again, and then you go up

:20:34.:20:38.

through the gears down the hill. A little bit of oversteer on the exit,

:20:38.:20:44.

but not too bad. Front right lock- up on the bumps, but positioned

:20:44.:20:49.

nicely for the apex and in good traction. Third gear and the left-

:20:49.:20:59.

hander. Downhill into Pouhon, fifth gear for me. Then you're using DRS

:20:59.:21:07.

through here, which is quite a tight corner. Up to fourth gear for

:21:07.:21:12.

the left-hander, trying to catch the apex and run as wide as you can.

:21:12.:21:16.

You're always used as much of the circuit as you can, use the kerb.

:21:16.:21:21.

Smooth as you can through here. If you get over steered through there,

:21:21.:21:26.

you lose a lot of time from Blanchmont. There wasn't too bad.

:21:26.:21:29.

Flat on the DRS here through Blanchmont. Always scary because

:21:29.:21:33.

you have such low downforce when you use DRS that the corners are

:21:33.:21:41.

scary. Down to first gear for the hairpin. It was all about traction

:21:41.:21:47.

and getting a good exit for the end of the lap. It felt like a good lap.

:21:47.:21:53.

For me the Q2 lap was a better lap. I had better balance, but all in

:21:53.:21:56.

all, a great qualifying session and consistency through the sessions as

:21:56.:22:02.

well, which was really important. What a great pole position. The

:22:02.:22:06.

cars are making their way out of the garages. Less than half an hour

:22:07.:22:11.

until the start of this race. As Button will explain, you get no

:22:11.:22:16.

points for being on pole position. His problems this season have been

:22:16.:22:20.

about tyres. He has struggled to look after them and that is because

:22:20.:22:25.

Pirelli wasn't working so hard to spice up the racing. We had unique

:22:25.:22:35.
:22:35.:23:07.

every year. They are looking for more performance, they are looking

:23:07.:23:11.

for less decoration, more assistance and they are obviously

:23:11.:23:15.

looking for different compounds, different working Rangers. So many

:23:16.:23:24.

things to develop in Formula One. Programme for today, looking at new

:23:24.:23:28.

compounds in the morning. You then go into a new construction in the

:23:28.:23:35.

afternoon. Total runs for the day is 19, 117 laps. Not too bad.

:23:35.:23:45.
:23:45.:23:45.

Plenty of work to do. You see every race, teams trying one stock, two

:23:45.:23:49.

stops. They misunderstand the compound, the track temperature. It

:23:49.:23:53.

is not an easy job. I think they struggle to maximise the potential

:23:54.:24:03.
:24:04.:24:04.

of their car, to maximise the efficiency of the tyre. This camera

:24:04.:24:07.

monitors the front and rear tyres and the information tells us how

:24:07.:24:14.

the tyres are operating. We have these sensors on the front tyres.

:24:14.:24:19.

That gives us a temperature range during every single part of the

:24:20.:24:29.
:24:30.:24:42.

still very, very important, especially on a tyre test like that.

:24:42.:24:48.

The feeling of the driver is what is most important. He my job is to

:24:48.:24:52.

drive the car quickly, but consistently. To provide reliable

:24:52.:25:02.
:25:02.:25:21.

up a form giving information about the tyres, how are they at high

:25:21.:25:25.

speed, low-speed, medium speed, how you feel they are working depended

:25:25.:25:34.

on that compound of a construction. Consistency, a good warm-up.

:25:34.:25:41.

Especially at the front. We went faster. Like most things in Formula

:25:41.:25:47.

One, the testing of tyres is conducted in secrecy. In a season

:25:47.:25:48.

where understanding tyre performance has become more

:25:48.:25:53.

important than ever, Pirelli must treat all the teams equally so

:25:53.:25:57.

despite having provided the car for the test, the Lotus Renault team

:25:58.:26:02.

and not given any details about the tyres that will be used. The only

:26:02.:26:05.

thing they know is that the tyres are black and round. They don't

:26:05.:26:12.

know the price fault, the construction or even the compound.

:26:12.:26:18.

We are the anyone's that know that. Probably they will have something

:26:18.:26:28.
:26:28.:26:41.

they all end up. Fantastic in sight. Pirelli are keeping Formula One

:26:41.:26:47.

guessing. The cars are making their way out of the grid. Michael

:26:47.:26:51.

Schumacher moments ago left his garage to start his 300th Grand

:26:51.:26:54.

Prix weekend and before he got there, Ali Mackenzie caught up with

:26:54.:26:59.

him. The sun is shining, you're at one of your favourite circuits and

:26:59.:27:04.

you're about to start your 300th Grand Prix, does it feel special?

:27:04.:27:08.

It is a beautiful day. A little bit unfortunate because in our

:27:09.:27:13.

situation we would love to have mixed conditions. What is it about

:27:13.:27:17.

Spa that is so special? He described it as your living room.

:27:17.:27:23.

It is the nature of corners, the layout, the flow of the high-speed

:27:23.:27:27.

content, the up and down, for history. A mixture of speciality

:27:27.:27:32.

and good reason to love that track. You've had a few unfortunate BNFs

:27:32.:27:37.

this season, but a few highs as well. He is the hunger and love for

:27:37.:27:42.

Formula One as high as ever? enjoying it. Have a great race.

:27:42.:27:49.

Thank you. Pastor Maldonado is making his way past us. Interesting

:27:49.:27:54.

for Michael Schumacher when asked if he does still loving Formula One.

:27:54.:27:56.

Before we care Monet, Eddie sat down with Bernie Ecclestone and

:27:56.:28:01.

this is what he said about Bernie Ecclestone Bosc -- Michael

:28:02.:28:07.

Schumacher's future. I'm sorry that he is leaving us not being a winner.

:28:07.:28:13.

He is a winner. You obviously know something we don't know, it is he

:28:13.:28:20.

about to announce his retirement? don't know. I don't. He says I

:28:20.:28:25.

don't know. His sudden -- he was not speaking like a man who didn't

:28:25.:28:30.

know. That seemed quite a confident quote. He believes Michael is off.

:28:30.:28:35.

In a wasn't definite, but it was a clear indication. I've never seen a

:28:35.:28:39.

clearer indication of my life. I would say he knows something about

:28:39.:28:43.

Michael is leaving at the end of the season. What would you expect

:28:43.:28:48.

Michael to do? He has retired from six out of 11 races this year. He

:28:48.:28:54.

hasn't had the luck. You make your own luck. He has made a lot of luck

:28:54.:28:58.

in his earlier days and at the moment, he just can't grasp of the

:28:58.:29:04.

former glory. It is concerning not just to him, but to his team, and

:29:04.:29:08.

us also. It is no pleasure to see what is going on at the moment. If

:29:08.:29:13.

he decides to go, he will leave with an unbelievable legacy. What

:29:13.:29:18.

would that legacy be? Seven times world champion. The best ambassador

:29:18.:29:24.

we've ever had. The best ambassador? The best ambassador.

:29:24.:29:31.

He's been here for 21 years. He has ever done that before? Who has ever

:29:31.:29:38.

won seven world titles? The guy is a legend. You can never take what

:29:38.:29:42.

he has it -- he has achieved. That achievement has to be regarded, he

:29:42.:29:48.

is super. What about the car itself? He says the best he can do

:29:48.:29:50.

at the moment is just about making it through to the final part of

:29:51.:29:55.

qualifying. The car doesn't seem to have a lot of pace. You have to

:29:55.:30:00.

look at both drivers and when you look at where Nico Rosberg is, and

:30:00.:30:04.

he is certainly no slouch, Michael can only do the best he can. The

:30:04.:30:08.

car is not good enough for up what is going on here? Richard Branson

:30:08.:30:14.

working up what seemed he would like to buy next. Let's talk about

:30:14.:30:17.

Lewis Hamilton. Something strange is going on around Spa where

:30:17.:30:22.

people's tweets keep getting deleted. Mainly Lewis's. Where is

:30:22.:30:29.

his head this weekend? If it is true that the trace of his laps

:30:29.:30:32.

yesterday when Tel... It is disturbing because if I was the

:30:32.:30:37.

team boss, I would be crazy with him. These are private matters that

:30:37.:30:47.
:30:47.:30:48.

the teams have to discuss happy with the set-up of his car.

:30:48.:30:53.

He has a different real wind from Lewis Hamilton -- from Jenson

:30:53.:30:57.

Button. This man knows what it takes to win around here, David

:30:57.:31:03.

Coulthard. You are looking calm. A last minute

:31:03.:31:08.

conversation, everything feel OK? Yes, as you know, it is never the

:31:08.:31:14.

perfect balance, but it feels all right, everything is fine, there

:31:14.:31:19.

are no issues. I will focus on the first corner. I was going to ask

:31:19.:31:23.

about strategy, but I have been following your team mate on Twitter,

:31:23.:31:28.

so I do not have to! I will have to try something different now!

:31:28.:31:33.

thing I did spot, it looks like this is a drag strip off the pole

:31:33.:31:41.

position, a lot of extra rubber. hope it is rubber, not oil! Indeed!

:31:41.:31:45.

A great pole position yesterday, a great way to celebrate 50 races

:31:45.:31:53.

with McLaren. I do not know if you did Pickup, look at the amount of

:31:53.:32:00.

rubber from pole position. A short run to the first corner. It is 250

:32:00.:32:05.

metres down to La Source. I think Usain Bolt might have a run at that,

:32:05.:32:11.

he would do it in about would be five seconds. If you would care to

:32:11.:32:16.

join me, I will see if we can grab a word with the other store of

:32:16.:32:21.

qualifying, Kamui Kobayashi. I would expect him to be pretty busy

:32:21.:32:27.

on his front row. Where would I find him? Is he around? He is just

:32:27.:32:34.

coming out? A quick word, you are responsible for the health and

:32:34.:32:38.

fitness of the drivers, have you had a special talk with Kamui

:32:38.:32:44.

Kobayashi? I will tell you afterwards! Let's hang in there, we

:32:44.:32:51.

will get a word with Kamui Kobayashi. He is popular right now.

:32:52.:32:57.

I know you are covering your Faulds, but a great qualifying yesterday,

:32:57.:33:05.

or you feeling calm? It is good to start from second place. It is the

:33:05.:33:09.

first time in a former No 1. One will try to be quiet and get as

:33:09.:33:15.

much as we can. If we do a get a job, we could get on the podium or

:33:15.:33:21.

when. Most importantly, we need to do our best. You say you are

:33:21.:33:27.

relaxed about winning your first Grand Prix! It might be amazing,

:33:27.:33:34.

but I want to get excited after the race, not now! Wise words! I am

:33:34.:33:37.

just come in to grab a word with Gary Anderson. One thing that is

:33:37.:33:42.

different ahead of Jenson Button and Kamui Kobayashi, because of the

:33:42.:33:45.

wet weather, you have raised a point that they have not had a

:33:46.:33:51.

chance to get their start sorted out. Because the pit lane is very

:33:51.:33:58.

narrow, the FIA did not allow you to do so -- to do practise starts,

:33:58.:34:03.

but they will allow you to do some on the way out of the pit lane. It

:34:03.:34:07.

is quite tricky, because it is a pill, if you get too much slippage,

:34:07.:34:15.

it ends up overheating. That is what Michael Schumacher had in 1991.

:34:15.:34:21.

Who do you think that favours? The who will suffer the most?

:34:21.:34:27.

biggest team will always be the best, because they will have some

:34:27.:34:32.

things that are ready. The smaller teams are not quite so organised.

:34:32.:34:39.

Sauber might struggle a bit. There is the front of the Sauber of Kamui

:34:39.:34:44.

Kobayashi. How relaxed is he! His best ever qualifying, he is not

:34:44.:34:50.

fazed at all. I was extremely nervous when I had my first poor

:34:50.:35:00.
:35:00.:35:01.

position. Another thing to point out, this great his appeal to La

:35:01.:35:06.

Source. When the drivers are hot on the grid, they have to hold the

:35:06.:35:13.

brake on, and that affects the whole preparation. Bernie

:35:13.:35:18.

Ecclestone having a word with the FIH to words. He was recently

:35:18.:35:22.

married, Bernie Ecclestone, perhaps we should congratulate him, but now

:35:22.:35:26.

might not be the appropriate time. Lewis Hamilton, you will have seen

:35:27.:35:32.

his tweets that have been going on. As soon as they have been put up,

:35:32.:35:38.

they have been removed. Paul di Resta, we will see if he is around,

:35:38.:35:43.

because that was a pretty good qualifying for Force India. We hear

:35:43.:35:52.

he is in his garage. Can you give us a few of the cockpit? He is a

:35:52.:35:58.

tall driver, he has to squeeze in. The seat is cut away in that emir,

:35:58.:36:04.

that is the chassis that is exposed. These cars are fitted to every part

:36:04.:36:09.

of his body. You can see the controls on there. We do not want

:36:09.:36:16.

to get in the way of the mechanic! Can you get the camera down at the

:36:16.:36:22.

driver height? You can see the view he will have. The Grid golden not

:36:22.:36:32.
:36:32.:36:34.

be there! -- Grid girl! His focus will be on the lights up. Red Bull

:36:34.:36:41.

are out of position, they are not used to be this far down. It seemed,

:36:41.:36:49.

looking at your speed, you lose the speed into the Fifth corner. Have

:36:50.:36:56.

you said the car up for this? are better with the wind closed. If

:36:56.:37:03.

you have got it open, it can be quoted Celtic, so be a rock -- it

:37:03.:37:07.

can be quite a penalty, so hopefully we will be more

:37:07.:37:17.

competitive. A bit surprised for the people at home, the cars were

:37:17.:37:23.

struggling. Have you looked at any of the analysis or tracking to see

:37:23.:37:27.

where Jenson Button made the big jumper? We had a look at Lewis

:37:27.:37:35.

Hamilton's tweet, that showed their laps. But no, we had good pace

:37:35.:37:39.

yesterday morning, we struggled in the afternoon, and we do not

:37:39.:37:43.

understand why. It will be important for us to make progress

:37:43.:37:51.

in the early laps. Give us a good race, we would love to see that. We

:37:51.:38:00.

can see the Ardennes forest behind us, that is where Eau Rouge is.

:38:00.:38:05.

Eau Rouge is right behind us there. As much as we were talking about

:38:05.:38:09.

the drivers at the front, it was good to hear from Christian Horner,

:38:09.:38:16.

because Red Bull will feel they are out of position. In qualifying, we

:38:16.:38:23.

do not see the best of Red Bull. But in the race, as it unfolds,

:38:23.:38:28.

they are absolutely there, like tigers, chasing down the leader. I

:38:28.:38:34.

expect the same sort of thing this weekend. What awaits them? We have

:38:34.:38:44.
:38:44.:38:44.

been taking a look. Now, motor racing. What makes Spa-

:38:44.:38:54.
:38:54.:38:57.

Francorchamps so special? The weather. And its unpredictability.

:38:57.:39:03.

When it rains, it comes down absolutely in buckets. It is hugely

:39:03.:39:12.

demanding at the corners, and it is dangerous. Into the wall! A track

:39:12.:39:16.

of the old school, much revered by the drivers and the fans alike.

:39:16.:39:24.

Grand Prix track is the fastest in the world. A track where all the

:39:24.:39:30.

greats of the sport have been victorious. Michael Schumacher

:39:30.:39:40.

wins! I might be biased, but no track has been kinder to me.

:39:40.:39:44.

unbelievable win! Most importantly, probably the best chips in the

:39:44.:39:49.

world! We shall be indulging again this

:39:49.:39:53.

evening, having done that for the past three days. My favourite

:39:53.:39:58.

statistic, 14% off the lap is on the brakes, that is how fast it is.

:39:58.:40:03.

You have got everything, there are lots of statistics. It has

:40:03.:40:07.

everything for the modern driver and the or the driver, they have

:40:07.:40:15.

got a love affair with this place. It is very special. It has so many

:40:15.:40:21.

ranges, corners, hatpins, fast corners, undulating up-and-down, it

:40:21.:40:24.

is a roller-coaster from start to finish, the drivers fancied this

:40:24.:40:28.

place. Let's ride the roller- coaster, because Jenson Button

:40:28.:40:33.

showed us how you drive around this place. The question is, how fast

:40:33.:40:39.

can you be? He was in first place, and this is how he compares to

:40:39.:40:45.

Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton is not entirely

:40:45.:40:50.

settled at the start. You position the car for the best braking into

:40:50.:40:56.

La Source. Lewis Hamilton runs wide. Even by the time they are in fourth

:40:56.:41:06.
:41:06.:41:07.

gear, he is 1.5 lengths behind. On the run down to Eau Rouge, flat-out,

:41:07.:41:17.

180 mph. The gradual rise along the Kemmel Straight, 200 miles per hour,

:41:17.:41:21.

by the time they hit the brakes. Listen to them buzzing into the

:41:21.:41:29.

limiter, with the DRS Open. A slight hesitation, a lot of

:41:29.:41:36.

understeer for Jenson Button. A small lock-up for Jenson Button,

:41:36.:41:44.

but he gets back for his apex, and he is on the power early. Under the

:41:44.:41:48.

bridge, you can see that Jenson Button has opened the gap, three

:41:48.:41:54.

carp lakes. This is the area where, with less downforce, you would

:41:54.:41:57.

expect Jenson Button to struggle, but with Lewis Hamilton unhappy

:41:57.:42:02.

with the balance, you can see a small correction of oversteer from

:42:02.:42:08.

Lewis Hamilton. He manages to get back online, but the gap again is

:42:08.:42:18.
:42:18.:42:20.

open further, for car lengths. -- four collects. 180 mph, DRS Open.

:42:20.:42:24.

One of the fastest sections of the track, the run to Blanchmont. They

:42:24.:42:30.

approach at just under 200 miles per hour, the DRS is open. This is

:42:30.:42:35.

brave from both drivers. The last big decision, the braking into the

:42:35.:42:42.

chicane. Jenson Button, committed early. He is tidy on the exit. At

:42:42.:42:48.

the end of the lap, Jenson Button is 0.8 seconds faster. A great way

:42:48.:42:54.

to celebrate his 50th Grand Prix for McLaren.

:42:54.:42:59.

It has been an amazing weekend so far, it is only Delyn to get better.

:42:59.:43:04.

The race is just moments away. You can press the red button or go to

:43:04.:43:08.

the BBC Sport website for the driver Tracker. This is a great

:43:08.:43:13.

place to ride on board. There is also the pit lane feed, and you

:43:13.:43:18.

will hear team radioed for the duration of the Grand Prix. You can

:43:18.:43:23.

keep across all of this via your mobile and the BBC Sport website.

:43:23.:43:31.

If you miss a trick, you can check out the iPlayer. We are getting

:43:31.:43:35.

close to the start of the race, we have spoken a lot about the men at

:43:35.:43:38.

the front, but what about Paul di Resta? He will be looking for

:43:38.:43:42.

something special. There are a couple of things, it is at the

:43:42.:43:47.

crucial time to get noticed for next year. He could either continue

:43:47.:43:53.

with Force India or look... He is widely thought about at Mercedes.

:43:53.:43:58.

It depends on what Michael Schumacher does. Pastor Maldonado

:43:58.:44:03.

qualified in third place, but he got demoted three places. He will

:44:03.:44:08.

be frustrated, another penalty. Williams are furious with this,

:44:08.:44:15.

they think it was not deserved. You are cutting this fine, so we

:44:15.:44:20.

will do this walking. You are starting in sixth place after the

:44:20.:44:25.

penalty, how did you feel? A bit disappointed for the penalty, but

:44:25.:44:31.

it is not the end. There is still a race to do, 44 laps. I am looking

:44:31.:44:36.

forward to it. No points since Spain for Pastor

:44:36.:44:41.

Maldonado. Daniel Ricciardo getting strapped in. Toro Rosso having

:44:41.:44:47.

their worst season. I am surprised, I have huge expectation for B-team.

:44:47.:44:52.

I like the way they have run in the past. But they made a big change,

:44:52.:44:58.

they sacked both drivers last season, and I cannot understand why.

:44:58.:45:03.

Romain Grosjean sitting inside his Lotus. There is Pastor Maldonado.

:45:03.:45:08.

One word, give us a winner. It is hard to see anybody other than

:45:08.:45:14.

Jenson Button, he has been brilliant. Two frustrated Red Bull

:45:14.:45:18.

drivers and a fired-up Lewis Hamilton, a blisteringly quick Kimi

:45:18.:45:21.

Raikkonen and Jenson Button nerving that pole position needs to become

:45:21.:45:26.

victory if he has designs on the title, and that is before we throw

:45:26.:45:30.

one of the world's greatest tracks into the mix. It is the 2012

:45:30.:45:40.
:45:40.:45:46.

Belgian Grand Prix, live from the circuits in the world. Michael

:45:46.:45:49.

Schumacher wins and becomes the most successful Grand Prix driver

:45:49.:45:59.
:45:59.:46:00.

of all time. David Coulthard slides the McLaren through the bus stop.

:46:00.:46:10.
:46:10.:46:28.

The fastest drivers driving the favourite for drivers and

:46:28.:46:31.

enthusiasts an today this ribbon of tarmac winding its way over the

:46:32.:46:36.

Ardennes hills looks resplendent. The second chunk of the season

:46:36.:46:40.

starts think in the south-eastern corner of Belgium, close to the

:46:40.:46:45.

border with Luxembourg and Germany. Uneasy run from the UK as well. We

:46:45.:46:50.

have fans from all over Europe here today. This is what they come to

:46:50.:46:55.

see. A 4.3 mile track wickets experiences and elevation change of

:46:55.:47:01.

100 metres, corners taken at 180 mph, and also has some major

:47:01.:47:09.

overtaking opportunities. The lap is split into three distinct

:47:09.:47:13.

sectors. The first and last but a premium on low downforce and high

:47:13.:47:17.

speed, but the middle sector rewards are high downforce set-up

:47:17.:47:21.

and that is why on the grid today, we have different approaches being

:47:21.:47:28.

taken by the teams in how they set up their cars, and even within the

:47:28.:47:31.

same team, like Jenson going one way with a low downforce, and there

:47:31.:47:36.

was going with high downforce. We could see high contrast in the race.

:47:36.:47:41.

This is going to be a race of discovery. Every single Grand Prix

:47:41.:47:48.

is that. What makes this particularly tricky a run this

:47:48.:47:53.

circuit is McLaren have done a long run of four laps on Saturday. We

:47:53.:47:57.

are hearing that most of the top teams are suffering with some

:47:57.:48:01.

inside shoulder blistering on the front tyres. They don't know how

:48:01.:48:06.

far they can go. The top 10 are or have to start on the tyres they

:48:06.:48:10.

qualified on so they have a minimum of three laps on those tyres

:48:10.:48:16.

already before going off the grid. With fuel as well as the difference

:48:16.:48:21.

in wing set ups between Lewis Hamilton and his team-mate Jenson

:48:21.:48:26.

Button. Jenson going for a low downforce set-up. That will make

:48:26.:48:30.

him struggle in the middle sector, which is where the terms are, and

:48:30.:48:34.

Hamilton going for a high downforce set-up where it should gain him lap

:48:34.:48:39.

time in the middle sector. Many other stories of comes just --

:48:39.:48:43.

contrasting set out across the grid. Sergio Perez lining up in fourth

:48:43.:48:48.

place, his best ever slot. A fantastic opportunity to score well

:48:48.:48:54.

for Sauber. Kimi Raikkonen, with a penalty for Maldonado, he lines up

:48:54.:49:00.

third on the grid. His first -- best grid position for Lotus. A

:49:00.:49:04.

real opportunity when you look at how hard he has challenged for

:49:04.:49:07.

victory a couple of times this season from further back on the

:49:07.:49:13.

grid. Kobayashi is right next door to Jenson Button on the front row.

:49:13.:49:18.

Only the second time the Japanese driver has been on the front row.

:49:18.:49:26.

Takuma Sato managed it in 2000 far -- 2004. Let's take a look at the

:49:26.:49:36.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 53 seconds

long straight, back down towards ready on and Eau Rouge. Look at the

:50:27.:50:31.

fans on the side of the roads. There have been a lot of incidents

:50:31.:50:35.

in some of the support races. There was a big incident in the Porsche

:50:35.:50:39.

as Super Cup race along that section. Let's hope for a clean

:50:39.:50:44.

first lap. A love those images of the fans on the banking. They are

:50:44.:50:49.

just using the natural topography given to them around this circuit.

:50:49.:50:53.

They have turned out in their tens of thousands. Formula One is in

:51:23.:51:29.

of locking on the corner and allow the front end to bite in. I'm a bit

:51:43.:51:48.

surprised he's getting that information so late. Fernando

Alonso is the championship leader by 40 points from Webber and Vettel.

:51:54.:51:58.

Although he has qualified in fifth place, it is only Raikkonen of his

Webber. Qualifying didn't go too badly for Ferrari, but Red Bull

:52:24.:52:28.

become the 5th best constructor at this stage of the season. They

:52:28.:52:32.

would go past Mercedes if they finish where they are now, which is

:52:32.:52:36.

remarkable for the Swiss team. Gary, you are keeping an eye on the cars

:52:36.:52:41.

as they left the grid. RADIO: It everybody on option tyres

:52:41.:52:48.

apart from Hulkenberg and Rosberg. Everybody else on options. The hard

:52:48.:52:54.

tyre for Hulkenberg, as we've heard, and for Rosberg. Gary, we've now

:52:54.:52:58.

got that announcement, the decision by the teams, on which tyres to

:52:58.:53:05.

start on. It is difficult. I expect this to be a normal two stopped

:53:05.:53:11.

race. You could stretch it to one stop, but the blisters on the tyres,

:53:11.:53:15.

you will see them appeared just above the white line. The driver

:53:15.:53:20.

sees it first so it gets him worry to begin with. I am also hearing

:53:20.:53:26.

Red Bull are having a problem with the left front tyre. They wanted

:53:26.:53:31.

everybody to be on three stops for safety reasons. This is going to be

:53:31.:53:36.

there furthest any body has gone on dry weather tyres. We had so much

:53:36.:53:40.

rain and on Friday and such a short session on Saturday. So little data

:53:40.:53:44.

to go on and it is very difficult to get the tyres operating at the

:53:44.:53:48.

correct temperatures. They have to run both types of tie at some point

:53:48.:53:52.

during the race. Button pasta start on the softer compound tyre because

:53:52.:53:59.

that is what he qualified on. The Belgian Grand Prix, not just at Spa,

:53:59.:54:04.

but a couple of other places over the years, has been won 15 times by

:54:04.:54:10.

a British driver, including four in a road in the 1960s on the famous

:54:10.:54:17.

old road circuit here. Field track was incredible. Jim Clark winning

:54:17.:54:21.

between 1962 and 1965. The last British winner was Lewis Hamilton

:54:21.:54:28.

in 2010. Problems for Kobayashi. His brakes. He has got them nice

:54:28.:54:34.

and hot on the parade lap. That might be some burning of the carbon.

:54:34.:54:41.

He will be hoping they can get this car started quickly. A worry for

:54:41.:54:47.

Sauber. Hopefully it won't cause a problem. It can boil the brake

:54:47.:54:51.

fluid if you're sitting there might for a long time with the brakes

:54:51.:54:59.

overheating. We are getting ready to go. Away we go! Maldonado

:54:59.:55:03.

shooting through. Was that a jump start? Button makes a good start.

:55:03.:55:11.

Hamilton... He has hit the Lotus! Alonso is out. Hamilton is out.

:55:11.:55:15.

Kobayashi is out. Real drama of the start of the race. This has a

:55:15.:55:19.

massive impact in terms of the championship as well. This will be

:55:19.:55:24.

a safety car. They can't carp -- clear that many cars. For safety

:55:24.:55:30.

car is now deployed so the race is neutralised. Nobody can overtake on

:55:30.:55:35.

the run up to Raidillon and up to turn five. Button leads from

:55:35.:55:42.

Raikkonen. The Force Indias can't believe it. Lewis Hamilton is out.

:55:42.:55:47.

We have seen so many accidents at La Source. Fernando is still in the

:55:47.:55:51.

car. Grosjean talking to Lewis Hamilton in the foreground. Alonso

:55:51.:55:57.

still in the car at the moment. Drs there very quickly. The Doctor's

:55:57.:56:05.

car follows the cars at the start. Paramedics ready. Now Alonso is

:56:05.:56:09.

slowly climbing out of the car. had a car launched over the top of

:56:09.:56:15.

his chassis. Taking some time to gather his thoughts. He looks like

:56:15.:56:19.

he is absolutely fine. Let's hope that the case. Real drama at the

:56:19.:56:23.

start of his Grand Prix. Hamilton went over to Grosjean and looks

:56:23.:56:28.

like he was trying to apportion some blame. We will need to see the

:56:28.:56:33.

full replay to see what caused the start-line incident. On board with

:56:33.:56:38.

Kimi Raikkonen. These guys now settled down as the safety car has

:56:38.:56:42.

been caught. We have lost a number of cars and Alonso's points streak

:56:42.:56:47.

comes to an end one short of the record he was lining up to beat.

:56:47.:56:55.

Michael Schumacher's of 24 points finishes in a road. The

:56:55.:56:59.

championship leader, it has all gone wrong for him. Force India

:56:59.:57:04.

have come through it with their two cars in third and fourth. Amazingly,

:57:04.:57:07.

Michael Schumacher is in fifth place. What is it about Schumacher

:57:07.:57:14.

and the circuit? His 300th a drink -- Grand Prix. The two Germans have

:57:14.:57:22.

moved up. Lewis Hamilton walked back. Not sure why he has taken

:57:22.:57:26.

that memento from the accident. It doesn't look like it is a sexy part

:57:26.:57:31.

of the McLaren! Disappointment on the face of his partner. Sebastian

:57:31.:57:35.

Vettel was one of the losers at the start of that race as well. He is

:57:35.:57:40.

now down in 12th place. Nico Rosberg up to 13 from the back.

:57:40.:57:50.
:57:50.:57:52.

Let's run through the order. Button, Raikkonen, Hulkenberg, di Resta...

:57:52.:57:59.

Della Rosa coming into the pits. And Maldonado. Schumacher in fifth,

:57:59.:58:06.

Ricciardo in the Toro Rosso is in sixth place. Jules Eric Byrne is in

:58:06.:58:12.

seventh. Poor old Canary Kobayashi... You've just seen a bit

:58:12.:58:18.

of action in the pits. This is not what we want to see, Gary. It is

:58:18.:58:22.

not. Taking out the three contenders dilutes it a little bit.

:58:22.:58:26.

It is about trying to make up the places. We need to see what really

:58:26.:58:31.

happened. Lewis seemed a bit ambitious, but Kobayashi did look

:58:31.:58:35.

as though he was very slow off the line and caused a bit of confusion.

:58:35.:58:41.

We need a replay before we can make any judgments. Perez is out as well.

:58:41.:58:50.

Let's take a look at it. Maldonado went very early. Let's look for the

:58:50.:58:54.

action. Lewis Hamilton is trying to get past Grosjean. He got pushed

:58:54.:59:01.

over onto the grass and that triggered the rest of the incident.

:59:01.:59:05.

Maldonado either getting in amazing reaction... On the left of screen

:59:05.:59:10.

you can see Grosjean coming across into Hamilton. That triggers the

:59:10.:59:16.

incident. Grosjean went over the top of the chassis of Alonso.

:59:16.:59:19.

Maldonado, it looks like it was simultaneous with the lights going

:59:19.:59:26.

out. Grosjean comes across, Lewis isn't fazed by that. It all kicks

:59:26.:59:32.

off and the result is a lot of expensive damage. Both Saubers

:59:32.:59:37.

involved in that. Perez was the first one hit, launched over the

:59:37.:59:42.

top of Alonso. Kobayashi was trying to stay out of the way and got

:59:42.:59:48.

clouted. This is on board with Kobayashi. The result of his poor

:59:48.:59:53.

start. We were highlighting some of the issues. He keeps out of trouble

:59:53.:59:57.

on the run-in to the first corner and then all hell brakes loose. He

:59:57.:00:02.

was an innocent victim, the result of the contact. This is from Lewis

:00:02.:00:08.

Hamilton. Watch for Grosjean coming across. They touch and from that

:00:08.:00:14.

moment, it is in the lap of the gods. I have to say, the stewards

:00:14.:00:17.

will be taking a close look at that. Grosjean does come across very

:00:17.:00:27.
:00:27.:00:38.

quickly. This has alongside. -- grand prix racing. The driver's

:00:38.:00:44.

head is exposed. Formula One can cite a big sigh of relief. It was

:00:44.:00:54.
:00:54.:00:55.

so close of coming down on top of the chassis. Carbon is particularly

:00:55.:01:02.

an issue. They need to clear it up to avoid any risk of the drivers

:01:02.:01:06.

picking up a puncture. The teams do have sensors to tell them what the

:01:06.:01:12.

tyre pressures and higher temperatures are. They will be in

:01:12.:01:22.
:01:22.:01:23.

communication with their engineers. -- tyre temperatures. Just look at

:01:23.:01:29.

the debris! It looks like a Formula One scrapyard. We saw Romain

:01:29.:01:34.

Grosjean talking to the team. Was he cutting across to match?

:01:34.:01:41.

have to be very careful when changing direction at the start of

:01:41.:01:45.

a Grand Prix. You have to assume you have the car beside you. I

:01:45.:01:52.

would take the view he moved slowly and deliberately. To me, it did not

:01:52.:01:55.

look like he was reacting to someone suddenly braking in front

:01:55.:02:02.

of him. It looked like he saw a gap - an opportunity - and cut across.

:02:02.:02:06.

Arguably, you could have said that when Lewis Hamilton saw him come

:02:06.:02:12.

over, he could have reacted to that. At the moment, it looks as though

:02:12.:02:19.

Romain Grosjean was too aggressive. Kamui Kobayashi is right at the

:02:19.:02:23.

back of the field. From our wonderful Saturday it has gone

:02:23.:02:31.

horribly wrong for Sauber. They had such an opportunity to score points

:02:31.:02:34.

and even pass Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship. Another

:02:35.:02:44.
:02:45.:02:45.

view on board with Lewis Hamilton. That start by Pastor Maldonado was

:02:45.:02:49.

incredible. Lewis Hamilton has a small moment to make the decision.

:02:49.:02:55.

He could have lifted or held his position. He took the decision to

:02:55.:03:01.

hold his position. He got squeezed and there was unavoidable contact.

:03:01.:03:09.

The rest triggered from birth. accident, it just looks horrific.

:03:09.:03:15.

We have another view on board with Fernando Alonso. David was saying,

:03:15.:03:20.

this is almost a demonstration of the advances in driver safety.

:03:20.:03:25.

one thing that still stands out is the driver's head. We have been

:03:25.:03:31.

very lucky. Romain Grosjean came across. Lewis Hamilton did not have

:03:31.:03:36.

anywhere to go really. He could have gone up on the grass but he

:03:36.:03:42.

did not really want to do that. More care and attention from Romain

:03:42.:03:48.

Grosjean would not have done any harm. Hindsight is a wonderful

:03:48.:03:53.

thing. I'm sure he might wish he made a different decision. You're

:03:53.:03:57.

not going to win a Grand Prix at the first corner but you can

:03:57.:04:02.

certainly lose it. Unless it is Monaco, then you can weave for the

:04:02.:04:11.

rest of the race. Tyre temperatures are dropping again. The Lotus team

:04:11.:04:21.
:04:21.:04:23.

is still hard at work. East fuel to warm up the car. Sebastien were --

:04:23.:04:28.

Sebastian Vettel is getting instructions as well. He is down in

:04:28.:04:37.

12th place. Others who lost out where Pastor Maldonado, with the

:04:37.:04:46.

quick start. Every plate of Lewis Hamilton when he got out of the car.

:04:46.:04:56.
:04:56.:04:57.

-- another play. That is an International Signal. Both looked

:04:57.:05:05.

very relaxed, sitting inside the air-conditioned SLS. One thing this

:05:05.:05:09.

does change is the ability and strategy for the teams to try to

:05:09.:05:15.

get to one stop this afternoon. You are putting laps on the tyres. You

:05:15.:05:19.

are not taking anywhere near the energy - not putting as much energy

:05:19.:05:28.

into the tired - and taking as much life out of the tyre. -- the tyre.

:05:28.:05:33.

It was quite close to doing one stop. The only problem is if this

:05:33.:05:39.

does start to appear. As for where, I do not think there is too big a

:05:39.:05:44.

problem. With this going on now, you are using some of the fuel load

:05:45.:05:49.

up and bedding the tyres in a bit. They will be cooler but

:05:49.:05:53.

temperatures front and rear will be more equal. Normally off the start

:05:53.:06:01.

line, the rear tyres get very hot. Then the front tyres come in. When

:06:01.:06:06.

it does start again, the tyres will come up together. The balance of

:06:06.:06:15.

the tyre -- the balance of the tyres will be much better. We hear

:06:15.:06:18.

that Lewis Hamilton will not be giving any interviews until after

:06:18.:06:24.

the race but he is fine. He is OK. We were not be hearing from him

:06:24.:06:29.

during the race. We will look out for his tweets exclamation up

:06:29.:06:39.
:06:39.:06:44.

Jenson Button leads the race. his tweets! That incident was

:06:44.:06:49.

unbelievable. Force India are in a fantastic position - third and 4th

:06:49.:06:53.

place. They must look at the situation and perhaps change the

:06:53.:07:00.

strategy between the two cars. is Jenson Button up front. He has

:07:00.:07:06.

managed to make up ground on Kimi Raikkonen. In third place it is

:07:06.:07:16.

Nico Hulkenberg. Filipe Massa has gone wide. Sebastian Vettel has

:07:16.:07:24.

come out of the slipstream. Filipe Massa regained the position. That

:07:24.:07:31.

is Heikki Kovalainen in a Caterham. They have got past the Caterham. A

:07:31.:07:38.

change in second. Nico Hulkenberg has gone into second place. Jenson

:07:38.:07:44.

Button leaves. More damage on a calf. It is Pastor Maldonado with

:07:44.:07:52.

no front wing. -- a car. Jenson Button has been gifted even more

:07:52.:08:00.

space now. I too not know what happened to Kimi Raikkonen. Nico

:08:01.:08:07.

Hulkenberg has moved up. There is Nico Rosberg. He started right at

:08:07.:08:14.

the back of the field. The great chance for the Mercedes to score

:08:14.:08:22.

points. Look at Jenson Button! It is looking good for him. Kimi

:08:22.:08:32.
:08:32.:08:32.

Raikkonen is in third place. Daniel Ricciardo is in the Toro Rosso just

:08:32.:08:37.

behind. Smoke is coming off the underside of the Force India. That

:08:37.:08:45.

is due to the extra fuel. We are getting information that the Cup

:08:45.:08:49.

involving Pastor Maldonado is under investigation. He decided he was

:08:49.:08:54.

ready to go. Charlie Whiting was shaking his head in disbelief. It

:08:54.:09:02.

does not seem to work out for him. Mark Webber is in 9th place and

:09:02.:09:10.

Filipe Massa is in 10th. The hopes for Ferrari to score some points

:09:10.:09:16.

live with Filipe Massa. Sebastian Vettel has a good run on him

:09:16.:09:24.

through the DRS zone. There was a change. Michael Schumacher or got

:09:24.:09:32.

past Paul di Resta her. Changes are happening. Michael Schumacher is

:09:32.:09:37.

now in 4th place. It was not looking rosy after qualifying but

:09:37.:09:44.

Michael Schumacher is to writing his fans. He is raising his way on

:09:44.:09:54.
:09:54.:09:54.

the track he calls his living room. -- delighting his fans. They did

:09:54.:10:02.

that bend in about 40 minutes. That is the power of teamwork. Watch the

:10:02.:10:12.
:10:12.:10:29.

park of Senna! It looks more neat Kamui Kobayashi is trying to climb

:10:29.:10:39.
:10:39.:10:39.

back up the field in the Sauber. Fernando Alonso is OK. That was a

:10:39.:10:43.

frightening start. He knew nothing about it till he got hit and

:10:43.:10:53.
:10:53.:10:54.

climbed over by other cars. Jenson Button has the three. Six-second

:10:54.:11:04.
:11:04.:11:08.

lead over Nico Hulkenberg. -- 3.6. Filipe Massa is still chose by

:11:08.:11:14.

Sebastian Vettel. Jenson Button with a good, comfortable lead. Nico

:11:14.:11:18.

Hulkenberg is on a harder tyre in second place than all of those

:11:18.:11:27.

around him. Nico Rosberg is the any other one on the same tyre. We're

:11:27.:11:31.

not expecting too much of a difference in-lap time. As we see

:11:31.:11:36.

the replay of Michael Schumacher, he dummies to the right in goes

:11:36.:11:46.
:11:46.:11:46.

round the outside. He has not lost any of his racing instincts Claudio

:11:46.:11:56.
:11:56.:12:04.

Vitaly Petrov. As the discussions continue, he will still be the

:12:04.:12:13.

champion leader going into monster. He had that much of a margin. --

:12:13.:12:20.

Monza. He came so close to beating a record of Michael Schumacher but

:12:20.:12:29.

it is not to be. Michael Schumacher is still to win at Spa. Kimi

:12:29.:12:35.

Raikkonen looks to be struggling with front locking. He is getting

:12:35.:12:43.

up on the inside of Filipe Massa love. Sebastian Vettel has done it

:12:43.:12:51.

under braking and gets past the Ferrari. With all the weight of

:12:51.:12:59.

fuel on board, Filipe Massa was having a bigger left. Sebastian

:12:59.:13:06.

Vettel was using the extra momentum. Mark Webber is getting close. Kamui

:13:06.:13:12.

Kobayashi is back again. I do not know if this is the result of

:13:12.:13:17.

damage. Mark Webber moves to the outside. He is in the limiter. When

:13:17.:13:23.

you ran into limiter, you lose acceleration. The gear up on the

:13:23.:13:29.

Red Bull, it looks like they had just too short. Just hitting the

:13:29.:13:35.

red limiter as they come up to the top of the hill. That denies him

:13:35.:13:42.

the opportunity to get past. Red Bulls where the fastest cars

:13:42.:13:48.

but by the time they got to the end of the long straight, at turn five,

:13:48.:13:53.

they had dropped about 15 kilometres per hour on other cars.

:13:53.:14:01.

Mark Webber is getting around on Bruno Senna. He is having nothing

:14:01.:14:08.

of that. It is a difficult place to overtake at the best of times. Mark

:14:08.:14:15.

Webber is being caught all the time by Sebastian Vettel. He wants to

:14:15.:14:25.
:14:25.:14:28.

get past the Williams. This is the tussle for 8th place. The two Toro

:14:28.:14:33.

Rossos are staying ahead at the moment. Here comes Mark Webber.

:14:33.:14:39.

Bruno Senna is controlling the pace. He did a good job of that in

:14:39.:14:45.

Hungary. It is not proving easy for him to get past. Jenson Button

:14:45.:14:52.

continues to lead. Nico Hulkenberg is second for Force India. Michael

:14:52.:15:02.
:15:02.:15:03.

Schumacher is force. Paul di Resta ate his 5th. Mark Webber is in 10th

:15:03.:15:13.
:15:13.:15:13.

place. -- Paul di Resta et is 5th. Jenson Button is out of the DRS own.

:15:13.:15:23.
:15:23.:15:24.

Michael Schumacher has come up through as well. -- is the DRS zone.

:15:24.:15:29.

That is Daniel Riccardo in the Toro Rosso trying to get past. Nico

:15:29.:15:37.

Hulkenberg seems to have found pace and balance. Is this giving as an

:15:37.:15:42.

early indication that the hard tyre is the raise tyre of choice? All of

:15:42.:15:48.

the top 10 had to start on the option tyre. Mark Webber still

:15:48.:15:54.

trying to find a way past Bruno Senna. You are picking up bits of

:15:54.:16:04.
:16:04.:16:09.

saying if you want to pit me now, do it as long as you can put me in

:16:09.:16:13.

clean air. That indicates two stops for Red Bull. No one has stopped as

:16:13.:16:23.
:16:23.:16:24.

yet. A scheduled stop. Still Jenson Button in control. Lookout for

:16:24.:16:29.

Vettel on Webber. RADIO: You are currently pulling

:16:29.:16:33.

away from the field at more than half a second per lap. Vettel has

:16:33.:16:40.

gone through! He has gone past Mark Webber and that is a crucial move.

:16:40.:16:44.

Great driving from both team-mates. We know they had an incident a few

:16:44.:16:49.

years ago, but Vettel positioned his car on the outside. Webber

:16:49.:16:54.

could have squeezed him, but he left enough room. Let's have

:16:54.:17:02.

another look. Mark could have squeezed Addis point. But he gave

:17:02.:17:10.

him the space. Vettel cut mark's nose off a little bit on the exit.

:17:10.:17:17.

Ricciardo is through. He passes di Resta. Face seemed to have found

:17:17.:17:25.

some great pace with this car. -- but they seem to have. Di Resta is

:17:25.:17:31.

being chased by Jean-Eric Vergne. He will be delighted to be in the

:17:31.:17:35.

points at this early stage of the race. Still a long way to go. Bruno

:17:35.:17:40.

Senna still hold a gun to eighth place. But now he is being chased

:17:40.:17:50.
:17:50.:18:01.

by Sebastian Vettel, then Webber, race already. Maldonado, Perez,

:18:01.:18:07.

Alonso, Hamilton and Grosjean as a result of the first-corner accident.

:18:07.:18:12.

Picking up on the Force Indias on the different tyres. Hulkenberg

:18:12.:18:15.

seems to be getting the hard tyre to work, but if you look at

:18:15.:18:20.

Schumacher and Rosberg, as we see Vettel getting right underneath a

:18:20.:18:25.

gearbox of Bruno Senna. Going wide again on to the artificial grass.

:18:25.:18:34.

Senna is good on the brakes. Not this time. Who was that in the

:18:34.:18:41.

pits? I think it is di Resta. has bailed out on the auction tyres.

:18:41.:18:47.

He will be putting hard tyres on. The sidewall on the tyre will tell

:18:47.:18:54.

us the story. If it is still the writing, it is the hard tyre. It is.

:18:54.:19:00.

Hulkenberg is still running in second place. 6.3 seconds behind

:19:00.:19:07.

Button. Senna is under pressure from Vettel. Making a move. He just

:19:07.:19:12.

can't do it. He is in the rev limiter, that is the problem with

:19:12.:19:22.

the DRS Open. I think there's been a change of position up front,

:19:22.:19:27.

Schumacher is in front of Raikkonen. Raikkonen really struggling. We

:19:27.:19:31.

thought the Lotus would be shining in the sunshine at Spa because it

:19:31.:19:36.

is so good in warmer conditions. This is how Schumacher did it.

:19:36.:19:43.

Around the outside. Raikkonen put it over the kerb to keep out of the

:19:43.:19:53.
:19:53.:19:55.

way. A good overtaking move. Vettel is still chasing seller. Mark

:19:55.:20:00.

Webber is now under his gearbox. Michael Schumacher backing to a

:20:00.:20:07.

podium position. He has had one podium since his return. This

:20:07.:20:11.

circuit and him have such a wonderful relationship, it six

:20:11.:20:15.

times a race winner here. 20 years since his first ever Grand Prix

:20:15.:20:22.

victory and it was here at Spa. Kimi Raikkonen apparently

:20:22.:20:28.

struggling. Jenson Button continues to lead the race. Vettel is right

:20:28.:20:38.
:20:38.:20:38.

behind Senna. Webber is in. Bull going.. 11 laps completed. In

:20:38.:20:48.
:20:48.:20:54.

had been struggling. A good stop by Kimi Raikkonen's team. Both going

:20:54.:21:01.

onto the hard tyres. They looked to prefer that higher. Coming out

:21:01.:21:11.
:21:11.:21:19.

ahead if di Resta. Di Resta finding Caterham. The straight-line speed

:21:19.:21:23.

of the Force India is significantly faster. The Caterham doesn't even

:21:23.:21:29.

bother defending. He is not in the same race. Technically he is, but

:21:29.:21:34.

in terms of a bright performance. Will Vettel bail from trying to

:21:34.:21:38.

overtake Senna? Is there a clear space on the circuit tracker for

:21:38.:21:45.

the team to dropping into an area? RADIO: We need to push and make the

:21:45.:21:49.

most of these fresh tyres. Other cars will stop around us. We need

:21:49.:21:54.

to keep pushing. They will also be hoping that the car works hard on

:21:54.:21:58.

the harder tyre than it was on the softer compound. A little slide

:21:59.:22:03.

from Vettel as he continues to chase Senna. The car moving around

:22:03.:22:08.

a little bit. He is fighting it a bit more than he was. Working hard.

:22:08.:22:13.

It will come down to the second sector time of Mark Webber. That

:22:13.:22:17.

will give an indication of fresh tyres and running in clean air.

:22:17.:22:24.

That will trigger Vettel coming in. Raikkonen responds by going fastest

:22:24.:22:33.

in the middle sector. Vettel staying out. 54.6 for the middle

:22:33.:22:37.

sector, this is losing him track time. Daniel Ricciardo has just

:22:37.:22:44.

come into the pits. Contact! Senna was so slow in the corner to the

:22:44.:22:49.

apex. Felipe Massa sent on his way once again. Daniel Ricciardo

:22:49.:22:53.

Gardner running so strongly for Toro Rosso, but can they maintain

:22:53.:22:59.

that kind of level. Mark Webber trying to pick up the speed as much

:22:59.:23:04.

as possible. Petrov has just come into the pits. Vettel that still

:23:04.:23:08.

trying to close on Bruno Senna. But not enough to make a move as they

:23:08.:23:13.

come up towards Les Combes. This is a great example of straight-line

:23:13.:23:17.

speed against car balance and downforce. The Red Bull closes up

:23:17.:23:21.

in the middle part of the lap. This is the middle sector and the Red

:23:21.:23:28.

Bull has a lot more gap. -- Greg. When we get onto the streets in the

:23:28.:23:32.

last sector and through her ruche in the first sector, that Williams

:23:32.:23:37.

is set up perfectly to have great straight-line speed. You can gain a

:23:37.:23:42.

second through this middle sector were the high downforce set-up. But

:23:42.:23:47.

you can gain half a second on the first and last sectors if you have

:23:47.:23:51.

got the low downforce set-up. Vettel is losing time to Mark

:23:51.:23:57.

Webber so he will come up behind him. Carlotta brake dust coming out

:23:57.:24:02.

of the Williams. -- a lot of. That could be an indication of the type

:24:02.:24:09.

of cooling ducts they have. It was there an issue with this pit-stop?

:24:09.:24:14.

For that was slowed. Very slow. It was all about get away. It looks

:24:14.:24:20.

like he had an issue getting the car in gear. This is where he went

:24:20.:24:27.

past Webber. Vettel goes around the outside of Senna. He went back over

:24:27.:24:33.

to make sure Senna didn't shut the door. Vettel moves into sixth place

:24:33.:24:38.

-- fifth place. Hulkenberg has just come into the pits. It means

:24:38.:24:43.

Michael Schumacher is now second in this race to Jenson Button. Button

:24:43.:24:48.

is still there, but Hulkenberg in and out on the softer compound tyre.

:24:48.:24:54.

He has to use that I had some point. He's decided to use it now. In just

:24:54.:25:01.

think decision by the team. -- interesting decision. Vettel did

:25:01.:25:05.

has successfully to Mark Webber and once again does it to Senna. Senna

:25:05.:25:09.

was very fair in the second part of the chicane. It looks like Vettel

:25:09.:25:15.

needs to take these tyres as long as he can. The extra speed he

:25:15.:25:22.

carried through Blanchmont. Battle of the braking. Senna leaving him

:25:22.:25:28.

just enough room. I've tried to finish the sentence a few times...

:25:28.:25:34.

It seems to me that if Vettel... Raikkonen is on fresher tyres. I

:25:34.:25:42.

will finish! Vettel have to try to go as long as he can on these tyres,

:25:42.:25:46.

to see if he can do something different. If he just does another

:25:46.:25:51.

couple of laps and pits, he will be to a height Mark Webber and that

:25:51.:25:57.

extra effort to pass Senna will not do much for him. -- he will be

:25:57.:26:04.

behind Mark Webber. Kimi Raikkonen is going quickly behind Nico

:26:04.:26:10.

Rosberg, but the other Lotus is felt. It was involved in that

:26:10.:26:20.
:26:20.:26:21.

first-corner accident. Can you tell us the view from your seat? A good

:26:21.:26:24.

start and then a big boom that and then nothing. I don't know, I

:26:24.:26:32.

haven't seen the images. The main thing is we are all OK. Do you

:26:32.:26:35.

think you moved over to quickly? don't know. I haven't seen the

:26:35.:26:43.

footage. You're off it and well, thank you. -- you are fit and well.

:26:43.:26:47.

Romain Grosjean involved and the first-corner accident that a cut

:26:47.:26:52.

Alonso and Hamilton. Sebastian Vettel coming up behind the Toro

:26:52.:26:56.

Rosso of Jean-Eric Vergne. This should be a fairly straightforward

:26:56.:27:02.

pass. He has got in front of the Toro Rosso. It shows how a

:27:02.:27:08.

comparable the cars are. Here comes Raikkonen on Rosberg. This was

:27:08.:27:13.

further down. Raikkonen is coming up through the order after making

:27:13.:27:19.

an early pit-stop. It looks as though he is on a two-stop strategy.

:27:19.:27:26.

Button Ann Schumacher will perhaps try to do it on one stop. If

:27:26.:27:31.

Rosberg fighting to hold that position. Hulkenberg was going so

:27:31.:27:38.

well earlier. He has been into the pits, but Rosberg has not. Gary,

:27:38.:27:46.

let's have... The contrast of two stops again we are on lap 15 right

:27:46.:27:52.

now. Halfway his lap 22. Vettel Ann Schumacher have just done their

:27:52.:28:01.

fastest laps of the race. -- Vettel and Schumacher. Jenson Button has

:28:01.:28:06.

lost anything. The tyres are being a lot more durable than people

:28:06.:28:13.

expected. Button's lead over Schumacher is 11.6 seconds. We are

:28:13.:28:16.

looking at Nico Rosberg in the other Mercedes. He is under

:28:17.:28:22.

pressure from Hulkenberg. Mercedes against Force India, both have a

:28:22.:28:26.

Mercedes power unit in the back foot up Hulkenberg going right

:28:26.:28:36.

around the outside! Rosberg knows... He is slow off. Hulkenberg on the

:28:36.:28:41.

outside will try to do it. Rosberg has the inside line. No, Hulkenberg

:28:41.:28:51.

has completed it. My goodness! unsafe release from the Caterham

:28:51.:28:58.

team. He clipped the back of the HRT. There's a raw in place, you

:28:58.:29:03.

can't release your car if their car in front of you in the pit lane has

:29:03.:29:07.

crossed a certain point in the pit lane. A mistake from the Caterham

:29:07.:29:12.

team. That was a bit of a shocking pit lane. It looks like everyone

:29:12.:29:18.

was OK. It can be frightening when cars make contact in the pit lane.

:29:18.:29:21.

It was a fairly minor brush in the end. There will be consequences,

:29:21.:29:31.
:29:31.:29:41.

Nico Hulkenberg. Box this lap. Bruno Senna has managed to get to

:29:41.:29:46.

lap 16 before making his pit stop. They would have liked to have got a

:29:46.:29:53.

bit further. It might be a bit marginal. Here comes Daniel

:29:53.:29:58.

Ricciardo. He is moving around in his attempts to get past Nico

:29:58.:30:04.

Rosberg. He is seeing this as an opportunity to try to score points

:30:04.:30:11.

for Toro Rosso. Sebastian Vettel is in third place. It is a good

:30:11.:30:16.

indication those tyres are still working on his car. It will be an

:30:16.:30:26.
:30:26.:30:28.

easy pass at 200 miles an hour on the burn into Blanchmont. He will

:30:28.:30:36.

beat into -- he will be under pressure. Mark Webber has new tyres

:30:36.:30:45.

on as well. He has been into the pits. He is making use of the extra

:30:45.:30:54.

pits -- grip. I am a little bit surprised to see dust from the

:30:55.:31:03.

Williams. It is not a hard track on brakes. Although the brakes get

:31:03.:31:10.

time to cool down, the pit stops can catch you out. With the wet

:31:10.:31:17.

weather, that is worrying, I have to say. That was a straight forward

:31:17.:31:26.

pass by Mark Webber. Mark Webber is into 7th place as a result of that.

:31:26.:31:35.

Billy Payne asset is trying to pass Nico Rosberg. -- Filipe Massa.

:31:35.:31:43.

Fernando Alonso went out at the first corner, as did Lewis Hamilton.

:31:43.:31:51.

They are both playing no further part. Keep pushing, Jenson Button.

:31:51.:32:01.
:32:01.:32:02.

We are still on target. Jenson Button has a 12.9 second lead.

:32:02.:32:10.

Kamui Kobayashi is still running. We did lose the other Sauber at the

:32:10.:32:20.
:32:20.:32:20.

start. We had Charles Pic doing a good job. Heikki Kovalainen is

:32:20.:32:25.

still running but they are investigating the release of his

:32:25.:32:34.

Caterham from the pits. The tyres are going to be going to the end.

:32:34.:32:42.

think Jenson Button may be in the same situation. His consistency has

:32:42.:32:50.

been incredible. Nico Rosberg did not fight that. He is on old tyres

:32:50.:32:58.

and there is no point. He would have cost them bedtime. I think

:32:58.:33:05.

Jenson Button bull tried to do -- I think Jenson Button will try to

:33:05.:33:13.

keep the same tyres. That is incredible. He is doing a stunning

:33:13.:33:19.

job. Michael Schumacher has not stopped either. Just here watching

:33:19.:33:26.

Nico Rosberg. Another eight laps on this set of tyres and the pace

:33:26.:33:35.

looks good. A Nico Hulkenberg is on a two stop strategy. He will be

:33:35.:33:42.

coming back into the pits for a second stop. Bruno Senna is trying

:33:42.:33:52.
:33:52.:33:53.

to do it from now on in. It is a long way for him to go. It casts

:33:53.:34:03.

around 15 seconds in track time if you Pitt. -- it costs. We will get

:34:03.:34:12.

the replay from Nico Rosberg and Filipe Massa Are. A straight

:34:12.:34:20.

forward pass, that would have cost no time for either driver. Nico

:34:20.:34:28.

Hulkenberg is chasing... He is in 5th place. We are watching Paul to

:34:28.:34:38.
:34:38.:34:57.

Leicester. Behind him is the Jean- saving the tyres and he said no.

:34:57.:35:02.

Eight Japanese driver finishing on the podium has only been done a

:35:02.:35:09.

couple of times before. He had a poor start. The car is still

:35:09.:35:18.

running. Let's keep an eye on the group as it is coming up the hill.

:35:18.:35:22.

Jenson Button is leading from Michael Schumacher. Sebastian

:35:22.:35:28.

Vettel is in a threatening their place. His lap time is not

:35:28.:35:34.

significantly quicker than those ahead of him. Could the likes of

:35:34.:35:42.

McLaren start to get worried? They are all looking at a one stop race.

:35:42.:35:52.

You are keeping an eye on the map times. Jenson Button is very stable.

:35:52.:35:59.

-- lap times. I think they are talking about Schedule Plus one.

:35:59.:36:09.
:36:09.:36:09.

You can get another racing lap out of them. Sebastian Vettel and

:36:09.:36:14.

Michael Schumacher or side-by-side. Michael Schumacher almost took

:36:14.:36:22.

Sebastian Vettel out. That is one of the difficulties with the pit

:36:22.:36:29.

lane. Sebastian Vettel tried to get a good run. Michael Schumacher went,

:36:29.:36:38.

I am coming into the pits and that caught Sebastian Vettel by surprise.

:36:38.:36:48.
:36:48.:36:48.

He was suddenly losing ground. It was not just because of Sebastian

:36:48.:36:54.

Vettel, he was going to come into the pits for his tyre stop.

:36:54.:36:59.

Sebastian Vettel is still going quick. He is still doing a very

:36:59.:37:09.
:37:09.:37:14.

good job on that higher. He is still a threat. -- that tyre. They

:37:14.:37:22.

are coming up towards the Les Combes. It is tough on him to race

:37:22.:37:27.

against people with much fresher tyres on. He is where he needs to

:37:27.:37:37.
:37:37.:37:41.

be at the top of Eau Rouge. He has a cap. Look at this! -- a gap. He

:37:41.:37:46.

decides to come into the pits and Sebastian Vettel is caught out by

:37:46.:37:53.

that. He has a moment all to himself. Jenson Button is coming in

:37:53.:37:59.

for a pit stop. The boys are ready for him. They have got lap 28 and

:38:00.:38:07.

that was the target to get just under half distance on a full tank

:38:07.:38:14.

initially. They goad the harder compound tyres. -- at their go

:38:14.:38:20.

there harder compound tyres. The pit stop dramas we saw earlier in

:38:21.:38:30.
:38:31.:38:32.

the years seem to be behind them. Sebastian Vettel is in second place.

:38:32.:38:39.

Nico Rosberg is coming in at last. He has given up on those tyres. I

:38:39.:38:43.

think that equals the record stop for a tyre change. Jenson Button

:38:43.:38:50.

has come out in front of Sebastian Vettel. That shows you the level of

:38:50.:39:00.

dominance we are seen from Jenson Button this afternoon. -- we are

:39:00.:39:07.

seeing. We have Force India against Toro Rosso. That is the only

:39:07.:39:17.
:39:17.:39:17.

remaining Williams. John Eric Byrne things about passing the Force

:39:17.:39:26.

India. -- Jean-Eric Vergne. There is an opportunity for them to score

:39:26.:39:31.

points. Force India will be disappointed they cannot fend off

:39:31.:39:39.

the Toro Rosso at this stage of the race. Nico Hulkenberg is in 4th

:39:39.:39:47.

place. Jenson Button still leads the race. Paul di Resta is

:39:47.:39:54.

struggling for balance. We get a replay of Filipe Massa. 180 miles

:39:54.:40:02.

an hour as he leaves the corner. That was an easy pass. I am not

:40:02.:40:10.

sure whether that deserved so much of a slow-motion replay from the

:40:10.:40:20.

director. Sebastian Vettel is into the pits. Let's just see. Sebastian

:40:20.:40:25.

Vettel is back on his way once again. He would drop behind his

:40:25.:40:32.

team-mate. He is on a different strategy. That was much longer than

:40:32.:40:39.

the McLaren stop. Filipe Massa goes through. Does he had enough

:40:39.:40:47.

momentum to state in front of the Toro Rosso? -- stay in front. The

:40:47.:40:57.

Toro Rosso will be in the DRS activation zone. Up the hill they

:40:57.:41:03.

come. A little look around. No one is going to make him move of it.

:41:03.:41:08.

Sebastian Vettel is now out in 6th place but he will go through to the

:41:08.:41:15.

end of the race on these tyres. managed on the softer tyres.

:41:15.:41:22.

need to make a two stop work. Hulkenberg is just being told how

:41:22.:41:28.

it is all developing round and about him. If the strategy engineer

:41:28.:41:35.

has only just worked that out of... I am sure they are fully on top of

:41:35.:41:45.
:41:45.:41:45.

what has been going on. I'm sure there is a delay. Maybe there is a

:41:45.:41:54.

strategy into when you tell them. You tell them immediately. Kimi

:41:54.:42:01.

Raikkonen is now back into second place in the Lotus. He is on 8 two

:42:01.:42:06.

stop. The battle between him and Sebastian Vettel will be

:42:06.:42:15.

interesting as it develops. Eight new fastest lap from Jenson Button.

:42:15.:42:23.

The new tyres are working well. Daniel Ricciardo was slipping and

:42:24.:42:29.

sliding. Not enough for Michael Schumacher to get inside. He is

:42:29.:42:37.

pretty clever when it comes to race strategy. He will be positioning

:42:37.:42:46.

himself. We have looked at the tyres and Plan A is good. It is

:42:46.:42:52.

looking quite comfortable at the moment. That pit stop for Jenson

:42:52.:43:00.

Button was brilliant. It is a long way around the outside for Michael

:43:00.:43:09.

Schumacher. He is still in 8th place. A new fastest lap by Nico

:43:09.:43:14.

Rosberg. It shows the pace of the Mercedes is coming together quite

:43:14.:43:19.

well. Performance has been up and down. They have won in China.

:43:19.:43:24.

Michael Schumacher has qualified fastest in Monaco. It is hard to

:43:24.:43:30.

work out what they can do. It is hard. They always seem to be

:43:30.:43:40.
:43:40.:43:40.

relatively quicker in the race. Is that Paul di Resta her? I think it

:43:41.:43:48.

was. He has had a bit of a problem all day. It is very confusing for

:43:48.:43:54.

the team. What is happening right now is what they did not expect.

:43:54.:44:02.

They have had a bit of a benefit from a few guys coming out. There

:44:02.:44:07.

was a bit of contact. This is Sebastian Vettel trying to go

:44:07.:44:15.

around the outside. We have also got an interesting indication on

:44:15.:44:21.

our timing screens that the pit changes will be investigated after

:44:21.:44:28.

the race. Daniel Ricciardo goes down the inside. Michael Schumacher

:44:28.:44:33.

is still chasing as much as possible and try to get on terms

:44:33.:44:41.

with Sebastian Vettel. Both of those drivers are on a one stop

:44:41.:44:49.

race. Michael Schumacher is in a race. They are racing for podium

:44:49.:44:55.

spots. Lots to look forward to as we continue to watch. We are over

:44:55.:45:04.

half the distance. Jenson Button is still in control. Daniel Ricciardo

:45:04.:45:12.

has to watch from behind. Six seconds behind him is his team-mate.

:45:12.:45:18.

That was a difficult turn. You drop down the hill. You can see how much

:45:18.:45:24.

time he is losing on that section of the track. It seems Mercedes

:45:24.:45:33.

have found some race pace. It will not worry them. What we saw with

:45:33.:45:38.

the Bruno Senna and Paul di Resta or overtake, I think there was a

:45:38.:45:45.

little bit of contact. We will see if there was some damage. Nico

:45:45.:45:48.

Hulkenberg is running in third place as rejoin the race leader,

:45:48.:45:55.

Jenson Button. Difficult to imagine anyone getting close to him this

:45:55.:46:05.
:46:05.:46:10.

afternoon. He happens to be the of this year and at the moment he

:46:10.:46:14.

is looking very good in the first race of the second part of the

:46:14.:46:17.

season, but Vettel has just done a fastest lap.

:46:17.:46:25.

RADIO: Still quite a long way to go. Lap times are still competitive.

:46:25.:46:30.

Massa currently in sixth position. He is ahead of Schumacher, but a

:46:30.:46:35.

little behind Vettel. Jenson Button has a rather lonely time of it in

:46:35.:46:40.

front. He has a ten-second advantage over Raikkonen. Kobayashi

:46:40.:46:45.

into the pits once again. He had to make an extra pit stop because of

:46:45.:46:48.

damage on the car after being involved in the first corner

:46:48.:46:55.

accident. Everything looks good on the car. No chance that Sauber will

:46:55.:47:01.

get anything like what they must have wished for today with cars

:47:01.:47:05.

starting second and fourth on the grid. Perez out in the first

:47:05.:47:09.

conduct -- corner along with Alonso and Hamilton, and then Kobayashi

:47:09.:47:15.

getting involved as well and dropping down the order. Looking on

:47:15.:47:20.

board with Mark Webber, he lost a second to his team-mate on the

:47:20.:47:25.

previous lap. Vettel was only three seconds behind him. They are

:47:25.:47:29.

battling over fourth and fifth place. Vettel looking like he has

:47:29.:47:35.

got good enough pace. He has already managed to pass Webber once

:47:35.:47:43.

in this Grand Prix. Half a second faster than Mark Webber. Any time

:47:43.:47:48.

soon he will be on the back of that Red Bull. Jenson Button in the

:47:48.:47:53.

background. Raikkonen is 10 seconds back. Hulkenberg hanging in there

:47:53.:47:57.

and Raikkonen and Hulkenberg will both have to make another pit stop.

:47:57.:48:01.

They are chased by Webber and he will have to make another pit-stop.

:48:01.:48:08.

Behind them, Vettel on a one stock raised. A real opportunity for

:48:08.:48:12.

Vettel to jump to second place after they have made their second

:48:12.:48:18.

pit stops. Gary Orr, I was talking about Kobayashi. There's some

:48:18.:48:24.

damage on that Sauber. Quite a lot of bits missing. The right hand

:48:24.:48:29.

side Aironi devices are all gone. That can equate to half a second

:48:29.:48:34.

per lap. He is definitely driving damage-limitation at the moment.

:48:34.:48:39.

Such a shame for us Sauber. They started the day so well with both

:48:40.:48:44.

cars up there on the grid. Alonso will be feeling pretty disappointed,

:48:44.:48:49.

too. RADIO: Raikkonen is five seconds

:48:49.:48:53.

ahead of you and then hot -- and Hulkenberg, expect them both to put

:48:53.:48:58.

again. Button in the league by a long way. My Mark Webber being told

:48:58.:49:04.

what is going on. He is currently in fourth position, but charging

:49:04.:49:09.

along through the middle section. I mentioned that Sauber's Des went

:49:09.:49:15.

wrong at the first corner. We can hear from Sergio Perez. First of

:49:15.:49:21.

all, are you OK? Yes, I'm OK. us about the accident. What did you

:49:21.:49:29.

see? A mistake from another driver. It was a shame for myself and the

:49:30.:49:35.

team. Looking forward to the next one. I suppose there's not much

:49:35.:49:43.

more he can say! He must be gutted. But he will come back fighting.

:49:43.:49:51.

are seeing Vettel taking a second at of Webber. There's your gap. You

:49:51.:49:56.

don't need a stopwatch to see that Mark has a hurry up on Hulkenberg

:49:56.:50:00.

otherwise he will have to be defending in the next lap from

:50:00.:50:08.

Vettel. But Vettel has a real shot at the podium. Raikkonen is the

:50:08.:50:09.

only four seconds in front of Hulkenberg.

:50:09.:50:19.

RADIO: Saved 10% KERS each lap. is being asked to save an amount of

:50:19.:50:27.

KERS each lap. What would... Deploy it only 90% of what you thought and

:50:27.:50:32.

that could be due to heat. We should call an hour resident

:50:32.:50:39.

technical experts to explain that. That will be heat. The charging

:50:39.:50:45.

system generates the heat. If you're using 100%, it will have to

:50:45.:50:52.

recharge 100%. That generates more heat. It keeps the system under

:50:52.:50:56.

control for a couple of laps and maybe they can start lose it --

:50:56.:51:00.

using it again. It is not good use for a driver because you want to be

:51:00.:51:04.

able to use all of the stored energy. It has an effect on the way

:51:05.:51:08.

the court is -- car is balanced through the braking zone. You want

:51:08.:51:12.

to make sure you have the maximum release.

:51:12.:51:16.

RADIO: It managing the tie as well. You are still pulling away from

:51:17.:51:22.

Raikkonen. Pace is good. All well and good up front for Jenson Button.

:51:22.:51:26.

He has some traffic to deal with over the next lap or so, but

:51:26.:51:30.

hopefully that will not cause any problems. Timo Glock is just ahead

:51:30.:51:40.

of him. Also Kovalainen, I believe, in the Caterham. I think Vettel

:51:40.:51:43.

will be right on to the gearbox of Mark Webber as they come across the

:51:43.:51:52.

line. Who's coming in? Hulkenberg. Followed in by Webber. They are

:51:52.:51:59.

going for their second pit-stops. They will have good ideas until the

:51:59.:52:06.

end now. Massa has come in at the same time. All of the front-running

:52:06.:52:14.

teams be stopping at the same time. Hulkenberg still came out ahead of

:52:14.:52:21.

Webber. Just in front of Ricciardo. It keeps them ahead of her own and

:52:21.:52:30.

Senna and Rosberg. Mark Webber behind the Toro Rosso. The two stop

:52:30.:52:33.

cars are on tyres that should last the distance, but perhaps the guys

:52:33.:52:37.

on the one stop might be struggling towards the end. That will be the

:52:37.:52:44.

case if they can make it last, but Vettel well over a second faster.

:52:44.:52:48.

Raikkonen is only 5.6 seconds ahead of him. We will quickly see a

:52:48.:52:52.

battle between the number Lotus Renault and the Red Bull-Renault.

:52:52.:52:56.

Vettel looking like he could be on target for second if he makes the

:52:56.:53:01.

tyres last. Vettel is in shape for a solid podium finish. Senna

:53:01.:53:10.

against Massa for ninth place. Let's take a look... So not on the

:53:10.:53:16.

outside. The two group Brazilian's giving each other plenty of space

:53:16.:53:22.

and no problems. Hulkenberg and where there -- and Webber took a

:53:22.:53:28.

harder compound tyre. Hulkenberg started on the harder tyre, went to

:53:28.:53:38.
:53:38.:53:46.

scoffed and has gone back to heart. pit stop. A marginal. Didn't seem

:53:46.:53:53.

to impede the Ferrari. If at all. little bit of reaction from McLaren

:53:53.:53:59.

as well. Raikkonen has been in for his second pit stop. This gives us

:53:59.:54:05.

an idea as to where everybody is. And how things begin to shape up

:54:05.:54:10.

for the closing stages of the race. He is behind Michael Schumacher. On

:54:10.:54:17.

board with Massa, who is still dicing with Bruno Senna. Classic

:54:17.:54:22.

going very wide on the exit of La Source. We saw Mark Webber pull off

:54:22.:54:26.

an incredible move down here last year, but I don't think Massa is

:54:26.:54:31.

about to do that on Senna. He is in the DRS zone so you would expect

:54:31.:54:36.

that Ferrari to be able to deploy that. Will Senna even bother going

:54:36.:54:40.

defensive? Doesn't look like it. That Williams has been showing good

:54:41.:54:50.

straight line speed, but Massa has retaken the position. Raikkonen has

:54:50.:54:56.

come up behind Schumacher. He will need to deploy some speed from the

:54:56.:55:00.

fresher tyres and hunt down the seven-times world champion.

:55:00.:55:08.

Raikkonen has to do the hunting. Raikkonen Bonn for fresh a set of

:55:08.:55:13.

tyres, he also has to chase after Sebastian Vettel to get second.

:55:13.:55:18.

This was a straightforward pass for Felipe Massa. The DRS giving him

:55:18.:55:27.

extra speed and position. Ricciardo has just been into the pits. Just

:55:27.:55:33.

hanging on to the top 10. Hulkenberg against Webber for fifth

:55:33.:55:39.

place at the moment. This is genuine race for position. They

:55:39.:55:43.

have now both made their second pit-stops and it is all about

:55:43.:55:47.

racing to the flag and he was faster than the other. You would

:55:47.:55:52.

expect a Red Bull to be quicker than the Force India. You can see

:55:52.:56:00.

Raikkonen Ann Schumacher just ahead. It is not only the battle for 5th.

:56:00.:56:03.

They can see they are racing for third and fourth place. A chance

:56:03.:56:13.
:56:13.:56:14.

for a podium. Kinta the pits comes Jean-Eric Vergne. -- into the pits.

:56:14.:56:19.

That will promote Ricciardo back into tenth place. Karthikeyan and

:56:19.:56:24.

Kovalainen still having a tussle. Michael Schumacher and Kimi

:56:24.:56:28.

Raikkonen. Raikkonen White on his tail. Among safe release incident

:56:28.:56:32.

involving Mark Webber under investigation. -- Dan and safe

:56:32.:56:37.

release. Gary, did you get a view of that? I did. It was a little bit

:56:37.:56:42.

close, but there was no real damage done. Red Bull have a new lollipop

:56:42.:56:49.

guy. The normal guy has got meningitis. It is a new man this

:56:49.:56:53.

weekend. We will see whether there's going to be any penalty

:56:53.:56:58.

applied. What is the distance that the teams are given in the pit

:56:58.:57:03.

lane? I don't know the actual distance, but there's a board on

:57:03.:57:10.

the pit wall. That has the team name on it. If a car is within that,

:57:10.:57:16.

you have to hold your car further than that board. There's a good

:57:16.:57:20.

market for everyone to save. You don't have to get any more. They

:57:20.:57:30.

can look at a later. -- look at it later. Michael Schumacher has got

:57:30.:57:35.

pressure on him from Kimi Raikkonen. These two over the years have won

:57:35.:57:45.

tend Belgian Grand Prix. -- 10. Two tussles to watch are for.

:57:45.:57:50.

Schumacher, six times a winner and Spa, and Raikkonen, four times a

:57:50.:57:54.

winner. His last victory came at Spa. Mark Webber not quite close

:57:55.:57:59.

enough to the Force India. Michael Schumacher is holding this group up.

:57:59.:58:06.

He is trying to do 25 laps on this set of tyres to naked to the end.

:58:06.:58:13.

Raikkonen will be in the DRS zone. It doesn't look like he is making

:58:13.:58:18.

much progress on Michael Schumacher as they climbed the hill. A lock-up

:58:19.:58:23.

from Raikkonen. A little bit of a lock-up on the front right. Felipe

:58:23.:58:29.

Massa has just set the fastest lap. 1:53.4. He is currently in seventh

:58:29.:58:34.

place having made that second pit stop. Let's run through the order.

:58:34.:58:43.

Button leads, Vettel. Another look at this relays. -- release. There's

:58:43.:58:52.

a little reaction from the McLaren guys. What I would like is a replay

:58:52.:58:57.

of that. You could see the market board that is some way beyond the

:58:57.:59:04.

Red Bull pit garage, which is what the chief mechanic would have used.

:59:04.:59:12.

Karthikeyan is off! Car I don't know how that initiated, but he has

:59:12.:59:18.

hit the barrier. That is at the bottom end of the circuit.

:59:19.:59:22.

Raikkonen Ann Schumacher down to Blanchmont. While this battle goes

:59:22.:59:27.

on, will they be able to get the car recovered? This is where

:59:27.:59:32.

Raikkonen crashed while battling for the lead a few years ago.

:59:32.:59:36.

has done it! A fantastic move by Kimi Raikkonen. He gets past

:59:36.:59:42.

Schumacher. You have still got Hulkenberg and Webber close behind.

:59:42.:59:46.

Schumacher will not give it up, but he doesn't decided to go for a late

:59:46.:59:50.

lunge into La Source. Webber still looking for an opportunity to get a

:59:50.:59:54.

good run out of La Source. Hulkenberg side by side with

:59:54.:00:04.
:00:04.:00:05.

Schumacher. We will try to pick up the DRS. Mercedes engine power

:00:06.:00:11.

against Mercedes engine power. Schumacher against Hulkenberg. The

:00:11.:00:17.

veteran Schumacher... He is back in front of Raikkonen! He uses the DRS

:00:17.:00:21.

zone to get back in front of Raikkonen. Raikkonen has a high

:00:21.:00:25.

downforce set-up of the Lotus and it is working for him on the

:00:25.:00:29.

twiddly bits, but he has a sitting duck on a high-speed sections.

:00:29.:00:39.
:00:39.:00:51.

has to get the pass done earlier on of the hill. He has put a wheel on

:00:51.:00:58.

the dirt. A massive difference in the speed, 20 kilometres an hour.

:00:58.:01:03.

Michael Schumacher retakes the position. A battle between two

:01:03.:01:10.

world champions, and Michael Schumacher is ahead of Kimi

:01:10.:01:16.

Raikkonen. Sebastian Vettel is 13 seconds ahead of that battle. That

:01:16.:01:21.

will have caused a bit of the time. If Sebastian Vettel can make the

:01:21.:01:27.

gap at least 16 seconds, he can do a pit stop if he needs to. He will

:01:28.:01:33.

be focused. Kimi Raikkonen does not get alongside Michael Schumacher

:01:33.:01:40.

this time. Perhaps he will wait for the DRS zone. With a high downforce,

:01:40.:01:47.

it is proving difficult for him to overtake. It is very close. He will

:01:47.:01:55.

try to get the run of, and then it is flat out down the help. -- down

:01:55.:02:00.

the hill. It this will be telling. I do not think he has enough

:02:00.:02:04.

straight-line speed, although he is better at the top of Eau Rouge.

:02:04.:02:10.

That gets him into position. If he is burning into the rev limiter,

:02:10.:02:16.

the car will be shaking. They cannot make any headway. Meanwhile,

:02:16.:02:24.

Sebastian Vettel has got the gap to 14.5 seconds. It is looking even

:02:24.:02:27.

more positive for him to have the buffer and still maintain second

:02:27.:02:35.

place. Jenson Button still leads. This is the race for third place.

:02:35.:02:45.
:02:45.:02:58.

Nico Hulkenberg and Mark Webber are out of the race. Kimi Raikkonen

:02:58.:03:04.

getting close to the back of the Mercedes. A difficult place. He

:03:04.:03:09.

will be in dirty air, there will be a small lift. Can he carry the

:03:09.:03:18.

speed through Blanchmont and pass into the chicane? He is very close.

:03:18.:03:25.

Mark Webber behind, trying to shape up to pass Nico Hulkenberg are.

:03:25.:03:30.

Pedro de la Rosa, very sensible, he will try to keep out of the way,

:03:30.:03:37.

but it is hard to do so. Pedro de la Rosa gets way out of their way.

:03:37.:03:42.

Michael Schumacher holds on to third place. The frustration for

:03:42.:03:52.
:03:52.:03:53.

Kimi Raikkonen. RADIO: Michael is on a one stop, yes. Here goes Kimi

:03:53.:03:59.

Raikkonen! He goes around the outside! What they moved! He knows

:03:59.:04:06.

that Nico Hulkenberg will get the run as well. That is brave stuff

:04:06.:04:11.

from Kimi Raikkonen. Nico Hulkenberg will try to take Michael

:04:11.:04:17.

Schumacher. Kimi Raikkonen making the move. We saw Mark Webber on

:04:17.:04:23.

Fernando Alonso their last year. I bet that was satisfying. Mark

:04:23.:04:26.

Webber trying to get past Nico Hulkenberg. You can see Felipe

:04:26.:04:36.
:04:36.:04:37.

Massa. He has to saddle in behind again. Fantastic racing. Jenson

:04:37.:04:41.

Button continues to control the race. Felipe Massa catching this

:04:41.:04:46.

group. He is benefiting that they are losing time while they tried to

:04:46.:04:52.

race. Kimi Raikkonen released his KERS. Michael Schumacher for better

:04:52.:04:58.

of it. Nico Hulkenberg had a tank Slapper, he did not know where

:04:58.:05:08.
:05:08.:05:12.

Michael was. That lost some momentum. Watch this. Bravery! 185

:05:12.:05:18.

mph at the bottom of the hill. Kimi Raikkonen knew that was his

:05:18.:05:25.

opportunity. The wonderful stuff from Kimi Raikkonen. And at Michael

:05:25.:05:32.

Schumacher, the two greats, going head-to-head. Mark Webber is tucked

:05:32.:05:37.

in behind. It is Mercedes against forced India against rebel against

:05:37.:05:45.

Ferrari. Nico Hulkenberg goes round the outside. I do not think it was

:05:45.:05:50.

all four wheels, he has done it. Nico Hulkenberg has passed Michael

:05:50.:05:54.

Schumacher. A brilliant manoeuvre, that takes a lot of confidence and

:05:54.:06:04.
:06:04.:06:05.

commitment. Michael Schumacher was incredibly fair. But he is coming

:06:05.:06:11.

back with the DRS. He has done it! The double DRS that they used,

:06:11.:06:19.

perhaps it is really working today. Gary Anderson, but Mercedes seems

:06:19.:06:27.

so good in the longer DRS sown. has got a better drag reduction. I

:06:27.:06:32.

have got my questions as regards the pure lap time, but Michael is

:06:32.:06:40.

on the 20th lap on these tyres, and Nico Hulkenberg's tyres are eight

:06:40.:06:48.

laps newer. It will get dodgier. RADIO: Plan B, 10 laps remaining.

:06:48.:06:53.

That means 10 stops. It looks as though they might have to switch in

:06:53.:06:58.

the closing stages. They have tried to go to one stop, but they might

:06:58.:07:02.

not be able to do it, because the performance is dropping away.

:07:02.:07:12.
:07:12.:07:16.

will bring him out behind Felipe wrong screen! It could be worse.

:07:16.:07:22.

Here comes Nico Hulkenberg again. Nico Hulkenberg goes round the

:07:22.:07:27.

outside. Michael Schumacher is in, and Mark Webber goes through. The

:07:27.:07:30.

extra pit stop for Michael Schumacher. Mark Webber is in

:07:30.:07:37.

trouble, because Felipe Massa was right on his gearbox. Trinidad

:07:37.:07:42.

Felipe Massa has been quick through the first sector. He has a lot more

:07:42.:07:48.

top speed than the Red Bull. He is looking like he might be close

:07:48.:07:53.

enough. Nico Hulkenberg has breathing space. What can Felipe

:07:53.:08:03.
:08:03.:08:04.

Massa do? He has got a good run going. Mark Webber cannot defend.

:08:04.:08:09.

Felipe Massa claims the spot. The Ferrari is looking very good in a

:08:09.:08:13.

straight line, and Ferrari are desperate for Felipe Massa to

:08:13.:08:23.
:08:23.:08:24.

deliver, particularly with Fernando Alonso in trouble. Jean-Eric Vergne

:08:24.:08:31.

behind Nico Rosberg. Nico Rosberg has lost two places. The Toro Rosso

:08:31.:08:35.

cost might end up swapping as a result. There will be honour at

:08:35.:08:42.

stake for them. It is a good weekend for them. It is amazing,

:08:42.:08:47.

when you get clear Air at the beginning of a race. It allows you

:08:47.:08:56.

to race way you finished the first lap. A good performance. Michael

:08:56.:09:01.

has re-emerged. He is just in front of Bruno Senna. Nico Rosberg

:09:01.:09:08.

fighting as hard as they could. He is also on a one stop. He is losing

:09:08.:09:17.

grip. That was removed. He tried to fend it off. He tried to push the

:09:17.:09:27.

Toro Rosso as much as he could. But he was able to take the position.

:09:27.:09:33.

Franz Tost, the team principal of Toro Rosso, barking instructions.

:09:33.:09:37.

He is known to be brutal with the way he treats the drivers if they

:09:37.:09:41.

are not performing. They will both be getting doggie biscuits today

:09:41.:09:48.

for good behaviour! Nico Rosberg into the pits. Gary Anderson, the

:09:48.:09:52.

gamble Mercedes made is not working for either of them. Nico Rosberg

:09:53.:09:59.

started on the heart of tyre, he went to the softer. He was on a

:09:59.:10:03.

slightly different strategy, but it did not work out. Mercedes still

:10:03.:10:09.

struggling. Michael Schumacher is still in seventh place. He is ahead

:10:09.:10:14.

of Bruno Senna. Some points would be nice, he has had lots of non-

:10:14.:10:19.

finishes this year. To finish this Grand Prix would be good, but it

:10:19.:10:24.

would have been lovely to be on the podium. Meanwhile, Jenson Button

:10:24.:10:31.

continues to lead. He has got 14.3 seconds advantage. We have not seen

:10:31.:10:35.

anybody have an advantage like this all season. Sebastian Vettel is in

:10:35.:10:40.

second place. That is how long it took to see Sebastian Vettel.

:10:40.:10:50.

RADIO:... That was the instruction to Jean-Eric Vergne. He is only 2.3

:10:50.:10:56.

seconds behind Bruno Senna. He was 0.9 seconds faster on that last lap.

:10:56.:11:01.

It is more than achievable. But we have seen that Williams is very

:11:01.:11:11.
:11:11.:11:11.

difficult to overtake. They are working well. It has been a good

:11:12.:11:15.

recovery from Sebastian Vettel, he was running into a place after the

:11:15.:11:22.

safety car. Kimi Raikkonen is a bit slow on this lap. He might have

:11:22.:11:29.

been held up, or he has settled for third place. The Marussia cars are

:11:29.:11:36.

still running. Bruno Senna, a bit of a slide. This is what they have

:11:36.:11:41.

to be careful of, that is what it so that the thermal degradation.

:11:41.:11:45.

The surface temperature of the rubber goes through the roof. You

:11:45.:11:54.

lose your grip. It is not an issue with the rubber. A battle between

:11:54.:12:02.

beat Russia drivers. Charles Pic ahead of Timo Glock. Even in these

himself to not finishing in the points. His tyres have done 22 laps.

Charles Pic does not want to lose too much. He wants to stay ahead of

Timo Glock. He has in trouble this year -- Mackie has been in trouble

too much to go all the way to the end of the race. Nico Rosberg has

set-up changes and Jenson Button is back to his best. When he is on

:25:19.:25:27.

applauding Jenson Button! They will get a big cheer for Nico Hulkenberg.

:25:27.:25:32.

It was a fantastic performance from Jenson Button. He was asked if he

:25:33.:25:37.

was supporting Lewis Hamilton for the Championship and he said only

:25:37.:25:46.

if he could mathematically not do it himself. He won the first race

:25:46.:25:51.

at the beginning of the year and he has won the first rays of the

:25:51.:26:00.

second part of the year. It is the 71st win for the combination of

:26:00.:26:06.

McLaren-Mercedes. What a place to do it! Jenson Button soaks it up.

:26:06.:26:13.

It is when number 14 of his career. A lovely moment for him. A surprise

:26:13.:26:21.

in a way that Kimi Raikkonen could not keep the pace. That is the

:26:21.:26:27.

compromise they have to make. They have to decide on gear ratios on

:26:27.:26:32.

Friday night and wing levels. Doing all of that with no knowledge of

:26:32.:26:38.

just how exactly the car is going to be... Sebastian Vettel is

congratulating Jenson Button. All these guys want to win. I do not

:26:44.:26:49.

think he will be that disappointed with the comeback today. Red Bull

:26:49.:26:54.

are still very much in the battle for the Championship. Jenson Button

is delighted. It looks to me as we get the run-down of the race

Jenson Button has come through on a glorious day in Belgium to take

victory. They are finally going to be celebrating this one. Good

:28:04.:28:13.

success in the past for McLaren. It is the 14th McLaren win at Spa.

:28:13.:28:18.

Both drivers have had two wins apiece. After the lull in the

:28:18.:28:23.

middle stages of the first part of the season, they definitely seem to

:28:23.:28:29.

be back to their best. Let's watch them coming into the podium area.

:28:29.:28:33.

You could hear the frustration in the voice of Kimi Raikkonen that he

:28:33.:28:40.

could not get full power. It is the longest circuit on the calendar.

:28:40.:28:50.
:28:50.:29:03.

:29:46.:29:52.

very difficult to pick that up. It is fascinating trying to listen in.

:29:52.:29:56.

The little comment about the battle that Kimi Raikkonen was having with

:29:56.:30:01.

Michael Schumacher. He said he did not have the straight-line speed.

:30:01.:30:06.

It is interesting to let those guys talk and have the frank

conversation. Sebastien pointer that just how far behind he was. --

have heard it many times over the Olympics, but it is now bringing

:31:25.:31:33.

out again for Formula One, as Jenson Button received the trophy.

:31:33.:31:38.

McLaren's man up there to receive the constructors trophy is their

:31:38.:31:44.

technical director. He will be collecting the constructors trophy.

:31:45.:31:49.

The upgrades that McLaren produced that came along for Germany have

:31:49.:31:54.

been used in Hungary and here, and I have kick-started their season. A

:31:54.:31:59.

great effort by everybody to get the cars on the pace. There is also

:31:59.:32:05.

a big push by the lads at Milton Keynes, because Red Bull have got

:32:05.:32:11.

Sebastian Vettel back on the podium. It is a relief for him to be up

:32:11.:32:17.

there, especially starting from 11th place. A consistent run again

:32:17.:32:21.

from Kimi Raikkonen. It is still not another victory, but it is his

:32:21.:32:29.

fifth podium of 2012. Consistency is what it is all about this year.

:32:29.:32:35.

Time to celebrate the moment with the champagne. Jenson Button will

:32:35.:32:40.

make the most of this. Sebastian Vettel did not take the victory,

:32:41.:32:46.

but there is a sense of relief from him that his 11th place stock could

:32:46.:32:50.

be converted into useful points. With Fernando Alonso not scoring

:32:50.:32:55.

points, it brings him up into a fighting second place in the

:32:55.:32:59.

championship. Let's not discount Jenson Button. He is going to push

:32:59.:33:06.

as far as he can, as we go the distance. A tremendous effort from

:33:06.:33:11.

him. It is the 16th time that a British driver has won the Belgian

:33:11.:33:16.

Grand Prix. It seems to be a good thing with British drivers. The

:33:16.:33:23.

first ever win here, Peter Collins in 1956. Jim Clark won four times

:33:23.:33:29.

in a row in the early 60s. Now, Jenson Button adds it to his tally.

:33:29.:33:39.
:33:39.:33:40.

It is a prestigious one to win. To do the interviews, the six-times

:33:40.:33:44.

winner of the malt and many times a winner in four men have won. He

:33:44.:33:54.

the last few races were not really easy for you. Today, you have done

:34:14.:34:22.

the perfect race. You did the fastest time in practice, you did

:34:23.:34:29.

all of the race, winning it, you are the only one, I think, this

:34:29.:34:38.

year, who has won from the start to the end. It is wonderful. Let us

:34:38.:34:44.

know your feelings of the Belgian Grand Prix. Good afternoon,

:34:44.:34:53.

everyone! Thank you very much. I still cannot get used to this,

:34:53.:35:02.

talking on the podium. It is quite strange! This circuit is such a

:35:02.:35:07.

special one to most drivers. The way that it flows and the history,

:35:07.:35:13.

so to get a victory here from lights to fly it is very special,

:35:13.:35:17.

it has not been the easiest year for me, so it is a special weekend.

:35:17.:35:22.

I would like to thank the whole team, and also all of you guys for

:35:22.:35:28.

being so supportive. We are going to enjoy this for a little while

:35:28.:35:33.

longer before we had to Monza and hopefully do the same. Thank you

:35:33.:35:42.

very much. Sebastian, the weekend was probably not the one you would

:35:42.:35:52.

have loved to have. The fact you have missed Q3 yesterday, that was

:35:52.:35:58.

quite a handicap. But you managed to finish second. You managed to

:35:58.:36:03.

come back in the championship, reducing the score on Fernando

:36:03.:36:09.

Alonso. How do you feel? Thank you very much. Obviously, it was a

:36:09.:36:15.

crazy race. The start was not so good. After the first corner, and a

:36:15.:36:21.

lot of cars went off, it was pretty crazy. Fortunately, we had a

:36:21.:36:26.

fantastic strategy. It was the correct decision to stay out. I was

:36:26.:36:31.

keen to come in, because it is difficult when you are in traffic.

:36:31.:36:36.

It was the right decision, and the car was quite good in the race, so

:36:36.:36:40.

we could pick up some pace. After a poor start to the weekend,

:36:40.:36:46.

especially for you on Friday, when it isn't -- when it was raining

:36:46.:36:50.

like mad, thank you for the support, it was good to come back, and a

:36:50.:36:57.

fantastic race. I had a lot of fund raising a lot of people. In the end,

:36:57.:37:01.

it is great to come second, great to be on the podium, and I am

:37:01.:37:06.

already looking forward to next year, this circuit is unbelievable.

:37:06.:37:16.
:37:16.:37:35.

really showing the pleasure to have you back in Grand Prix racing. He

:37:35.:37:42.

flirted with the victory. Now, you are quite often on the podium. You

:37:42.:37:46.

did an incredible battle for third place. We had feelings that maybe

:37:46.:37:52.

you had difficulties with your car. But the result is that you are

:37:52.:37:56.

finishing in third place. It is a joy for us, and we like to

:37:56.:38:01.

congratulate you for this great position. Thank you very much. It

:38:01.:38:11.

is nice to be back here. Very nice racing today. It is not the easiest

:38:11.:38:15.

day for me and for the team, but the car was not exactly like we

:38:15.:38:21.

were like ink. I was fighting and trying to get the best out of it,

:38:21.:38:25.

and we managed to get some good points for myself and for the team.

:38:25.:38:31.

That is the main thing. But it was not the easiest race. But that is

:38:31.:38:37.

how it goes, we will try next week better. Thank you very much. Thank

:38:37.:38:45.

you to all of year. Frankie for this great show. -- thank you.

:38:45.:38:52.

A great show indeed. Fantastic stuff. Obituary in the Belgian

Hamilton getting knocked out, but let's focus on the victory, two

:39:25.:39:31.

wins in a row for McLaren. problem with those victories, they

:39:31.:39:34.

look easy, but it was an extraordinary race and an

:39:34.:39:39.

extraordinary weekend, a washout on Friday, Jenson Button was dominant

:39:39.:39:44.

in qualifying, and then he was faultless, he took it easy all the

:39:44.:39:50.

way through. He is easy to underestimate that. If you say

:39:50.:39:56.

taking it easy, surely that is easy, or was there more going on?

:39:56.:40:00.

have got to put yourself in a position where you can take it easy.

:40:00.:40:05.

That is the scale. We think it is taking it easy, looking at it, but

:40:05.:40:10.

to drive a car for parsley here, not making mistakes, looking after

it, it is a fantastic job. Many congratulations, but for one moment,

:40:18.:40:21.

looking at the negative side, surely the wrong person for you won

:40:21.:40:28.

the race. Lewis Hamilton's weekend has been difficult. Through no

:40:29.:40:37.

fault of his own, he was taken out, he would have scored lots of points.

:40:37.:40:41.

It was a bad weekend for him. It was a shame for him, and for

:40:41.:40:50.

Fernando Alonso. But that is something for Lewis Hamilton, his

main competitor... If he had any doubt, he knows he has got a

:40:55.:41:00.

competitive car. We have been very strong on two different circuits,

:41:00.:41:05.

we have got good momentum, and we will focus on winning as many races

:41:05.:41:10.

as we can, there are two championships up for grabs. Peter

:41:10.:41:16.

Reid at Lewis Hamilton put out, I know what I would have done, what

:41:16.:41:21.

are you going to do? He was asked to take it down, and he did

:41:21.:41:25.

immediately. He misjudged the situation. All of the others, Prix

:41:26.:41:31.

were accused of removing them, but we did not ask him to do that. He

:41:31.:41:37.

removed it and apologised. He was not thinking clearly. Was that the

:41:37.:41:42.

end of it? Yes. It did not get any easier for him when he got into the

:41:42.:41:47.

car. You were watching this on the pit wall, what was your reaction?

:41:47.:41:52.

would not want to print the words, but clearly, he had no choice, he

:41:52.:41:57.

kept over as far as he could, Romain Grosjean just kept coming.

:41:57.:42:03.

Once you have been tapped, you cannot do anything. For him,

:42:03.:42:08.

Fernando Alonso and others, it is a shame. It is a shame to see some of

:42:08.:42:17.

the leading contenders taken out in that way. Did you think immediately

:42:17.:42:22.

that Romain Grosjean had done something to upset Lewis Hamilton?

:42:22.:42:27.

You can see Lewis Hamilton is on the right hand side, and he is hit.

:42:27.:42:33.

Yes, I thought that Romain Grosjean had hit him. Did you think that a

:42:33.:42:37.

penalty should be awarded to the Lotus driver? It is not my business.

:42:37.:42:41.

It is a shame that the race was spoiled for Lewis Hamilton. Other

:42:41.:42:48.

let others speculate on penalties. There is no doubt about it, he is

:42:48.:42:53.

blatantly at fault. There will be repercussions. Lewis Hamilton is

:42:53.:42:58.

minding his own business, and he is attacked her. What I am most

:42:58.:43:02.

impressed about, this is a serious accident to the health and welfare

:43:02.:43:08.

of those drivers, and I am overjoyed that the cars you are

:43:08.:43:13.

making, that is testament to the safety. Fernando Alonso had a scary

:43:13.:43:19.

moment. This could have been a lot worse. But still commanded great

:43:19.:43:26.

shame for Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and the others. Before we

:43:26.:43:33.

did you fare well, it has been hot this afternoon, give us an idea of

:43:33.:43:38.

where you think the championship battle is. You have the fastest car,

:43:38.:43:42.

but it is good to see Jenson Button winning again. It was great for him,

:43:42.:43:47.

he deserved that. Now we have got to move on. We have got to keep

:43:47.:43:51.

developing the car, but we have got to score the points. Fernando

:43:51.:43:55.

Alonso did not score points this weekend, but that is what he has

:43:55.:44:02.

done, he has not had the quickest car, he has just run it out. We

:44:02.:44:06.

have a quick car, we have to not make mistakes and make sure the

:44:06.:44:09.

strategy is correct, but you have got to maximise the points

:44:09.:44:13.

potential. We did not do that well enough in the first half of the

:44:13.:44:18.

year. That is what we have got to focus on. We will keep pushing.

:44:18.:44:25.

sounds easier said than done! Let's hear from Lewis Hamilton.

:44:25.:44:29.

First of all, it is great to see that you are OK. It looked quite

:44:29.:44:35.

scary. Tell us about it. I do not want to talk about it. People can

:44:35.:44:39.

see what happened. Huge congratulations to Jenson Button. A

:44:39.:44:47.

fantastic race. It is like a war can be part for him. It is great to

:44:47.:44:55.

see that the team had the pace. I have got to get that onto my car.

:44:55.:44:58.

Your fans will be happy that you are fit and well, you are not

:44:58.:45:05.

shaken up. I have had a lot worse than that. You could watch the race,

:45:05.:45:08.

are you able to learn much when you are sitting there, looking at your

:45:09.:45:18.
:45:19.:45:32.

you enjoy watching that? No, I did not. You know what it is like to

:45:33.:45:37.

get put out of the race. It was real testament to the safety of

:45:37.:45:42.

these cars. The FIA have done an amazing job but the legacy of Max

:45:42.:45:50.

Mosley in making their cars stronger and safer. I can

:45:50.:45:54.

understand the frustration by Lewis Hamilton. He picked a straight line

:45:54.:46:01.

and did not deviate at all. He picked his braking point. He

:46:01.:46:06.

followed the cars into the corner. Then that Massive attack from the

:46:06.:46:11.

Lotus car. When Fernando Alonso stayed in the car for a while, I

:46:12.:46:19.

think it was as much shock as anything else. Filipe Massa was

:46:19.:46:25.

still out there racing. Just coming back to Lewis Hamilton, massive

:46:25.:46:33.

frustration. He held a steady line and Romain Grosjean came across.

:46:33.:46:38.

Are the stewards looking into that as an incident? I do not recall it

:46:39.:46:44.

being put up on the screen. You have to respect movement at the

:46:44.:46:48.

start of the gram Prix. You cannot swerve without the sense of where

:46:48.:46:55.

the cars are. -- the Grand Prix. People will once again asked about

:46:55.:46:59.

open cockpit of racing in Formula One and whether we should be

:46:59.:47:05.

carrying on with that. Let's have a look at the jump start of Pastor

:47:05.:47:10.

Maldonado. They are going to take a look at this. He is gone before

:47:10.:47:18.

anyone has even moved. If they released this, and you can see

:47:18.:47:23.

Lewis Hamilton's Start. He is on a completely straight line. Romain

:47:23.:47:28.

Grosjean comes and he keeps on coming. That is what caused a

:47:28.:47:33.

massive concertina. It is so easy to say when you are not out there -

:47:33.:47:40.

and I have run into the back of people in grand prix - you're not

:47:40.:47:44.

going to win its at the first corner. You are potentially going

:47:44.:47:53.

to put it -- put yourself out of the race. There was a lovely

:47:53.:48:00.

incident during the race. Beat two Red Bulls were going wheel to wheel,

:48:00.:48:09.

side to side. This is the way to drive alongside your team-mate.

:48:09.:48:16.

actually thought this was good and fair racing. This showed the

:48:16.:48:21.

improvement and how they have matured over a period of time. We

:48:21.:48:26.

all know what happened in Turkey. This was pure professional racing

:48:26.:48:32.

showing courtesy and respect. It was a particularly good move.

:48:32.:48:42.
:48:42.:48:43.

Alongside us is the team principal. How was it for you? They went wheel

:48:43.:48:49.

to wheel and gave each other just enough space. They were racing each

:48:49.:48:56.

other hard and fair. We trusted them. They executed it well. Tell

:48:56.:49:00.

us what you thought of this race. There were questions over your

:49:01.:49:06.

speed during qualifying. Sebastian Vettel really banned some pace.

:49:06.:49:13.

were confident with the race pace. We did not plan to do a one stop.

:49:13.:49:19.

When Sebastian Vettel got him clear air, he was able to make up time.

:49:19.:49:26.

The one stock was on the cards. The pace was very good. -- the one stop.

:49:26.:49:31.

It has been a fantastic weekend for you. You have extended you

:49:31.:49:37.

construct as lead was that you should be overjoyed.

:49:37.:49:45.

constructors need. Our choice of Top Gear probably compromised us on

:49:45.:49:54.

overtaking at the top of the hill. Eight points today. It was a great

:49:55.:49:59.

drive from Sebastian Vettel to make the tyres last. What difficulty was

:49:59.:50:06.

he having? I been running in the dirty air. We went into the race

:50:06.:50:15.

wanting to rent in clean air as much as possible. When that DRS was

:50:15.:50:25.
:50:25.:50:27.

Open, it hurt him a bit today. that 300 rpm, 500? Give the viewers

:50:27.:50:34.

at home the sense of the decision you make. You make your decision on

:50:34.:50:43.

the base of no running in the wet. The gear ratio was a bit short for

:50:44.:50:51.

overtaking. Great if you are ahead. It was not until at the end of the

:50:51.:50:56.

straight. If there was a bit of fear when used a yacht owned

:50:56.:51:00.

drivers going wheel to wheel, what was it like with Michael

:51:00.:51:08.

Schumacher? -- with your own drivers. He came across the front

:51:08.:51:14.

of Sebastian Vettel. It did not cost us to match. I thought Michael

:51:14.:51:23.

would have let him go rather than lose all that time. -- too much.

:51:23.:51:27.

The stewards are looking into that. What with the panel to be? They're

:51:28.:51:35.

racing each other. He comes into the pits. -- the penalty be. I

:51:35.:51:41.

think it is a racing incident. I would be surprised if their work a

:51:41.:51:46.

penalty. You must admit that Michael should not have been so

:51:46.:51:52.

aggressive coming into the corner. He must have known if it was a

:51:52.:51:57.

compromising situation. It would have been nice if he told us he was

:51:57.:52:03.

coming in. They were going wheel to wheel. It was surprising but they

:52:03.:52:08.

were racing each other hard. Would you expect to have a slap across

:52:08.:52:14.

the wrists for the release of Mark Webber? I think it was right on the

:52:14.:52:20.

edge but it was fine. It was close but no danger. He is released

:52:20.:52:30.

fright at the right points. -- right at the right point. How far

:52:30.:52:36.

damp is that marker? It has been removed already buying some eager

:52:36.:52:40.

fans. It is just be on that red tower. That is what the lollipop

:52:41.:52:49.

man is looking at. We have a new lollipop man this weekend. He did a

:52:49.:52:56.

great job today. He used to work for Eddie years ago. He did a great

:52:56.:53:03.

job today. Thank you for joining us. I will be back in a second. I will

:53:03.:53:09.

give you an idea of what they are talking about. The Ferrari lollipop

:53:09.:53:13.

guy, or anyone working in the pits, they have to make sure there is not

:53:13.:53:20.

the car there. It is to try to make things easier but it is not easy.

:53:21.:53:27.

Mark Webber was a bold in a spot of bother. Let's start at the

:53:28.:53:33.

beginning. -- Mark Webber was involved. It was a long and drawn

:53:33.:53:41.

out race. The start was pretty wild. It can happen. We settled into a

:53:41.:53:47.

race which then became very obvious that it was very difficult for us

:53:47.:53:52.

to overtake on the track. Sebastian Vettel and myself had a little

:53:52.:53:59.

fight, which was fine. After that, it was not possible for us to fight

:53:59.:54:05.

other people on the straight line. That made it tough. We tried to

:54:05.:54:15.
:54:15.:54:15.

undercut some people. Then you start to roll the dice. I lost time

:54:15.:54:24.

with Vitaly Petrov. We did not get the most out of the situation.

:54:24.:54:34.
:54:34.:54:34.

There was no problem with the UN safe reliefs? It was OK. -- unsafe

:54:34.:54:41.

release. In some ways, that adds to the excitement of Formula One.

:54:41.:54:47.

Let's go down to Mercedes. We are all fearful about their pace after

:54:47.:54:55.

qualifying. At times, Nico Rosberg and Michael, they were strong.

:54:55.:54:59.

Michael Schumacher was very assertive with overtaking. He used

:54:59.:55:05.

the performance of the car well. You can see Kimi Raikkonen trying

:55:06.:55:11.

to go around the outside, into the chicane. Later on that lap, he was

:55:11.:55:17.

able to carry on the momentum up from 0 ruche. We heard him talking

:55:17.:55:27.
:55:27.:55:29.

about that before the podium. -- Eau Rouge. That is reminiscent of

:55:29.:55:33.

Michael Webber. It was very impressive how he managed to get

:55:33.:55:43.
:55:43.:55:48.

down the inside and take it on the what did you think? I am concerned

:55:48.:55:53.

about where he is in his head. Today started so well, he got the

:55:53.:55:58.

opportunity. P van at the front, the strategy in the pit stop was

:55:58.:56:06.

difficult, and casting his mind back, no doubt about it, he has had

:56:06.:56:11.

a chat with Bernie Ecclestone and with Mercedes, while I continue? My

:56:11.:56:15.

guess, you would have to assume that he is going to stop. If you

:56:15.:56:19.

were watching before the race, we heard from Bernie Ecclestone, he

:56:19.:56:23.

said, it is a shame Michael is leaving without having won a Grand

:56:23.:56:28.

Prix. Sadly, the gamble on tyres did not

:56:28.:56:36.

pay off. We tried. It looked pretty reasonable to start with the, we

:56:36.:56:43.

had pretty good times, until the end of the first stint in. I was

:56:43.:56:49.

fighting with Daniel Ricciardo and some others. We had to comment

:56:49.:56:54.

again. They could have finished on that said, but I would have ended

:56:54.:56:59.

up in the same position, so it was a good decision to come in, change

:56:59.:57:05.

tyres, and fight again for a further position, but I had to stop

:57:05.:57:10.

thinking about it, because I lost six the year. It was just lucky to

:57:10.:57:19.

finish the race. Were you able to enjoy your 300th Grand Prix? I did.

:57:19.:57:25.

It is beautiful, to fight for the top positions, and it is a bit sad,

:57:25.:57:31.

autistic, that you cannot take it home. -- it was a bit sad,

:57:31.:57:37.

obviously. Bernie Ecclestone told us that he would be sad to seek

:57:37.:57:40.

relief at the end of the season. Does he know something that we do

:57:40.:57:48.

not? Are you leaving at the end of the season? He said, if I take the

:57:48.:57:54.

decision to leave Formula One. That is what he meant it. We had a chat,

:57:54.:57:57.

I told him I had not reached a decision.

:57:57.:58:05.

Nothing year. -- nothing new. 24 hours later, Bernie Ecclestone

:58:05.:58:10.

tells us he might be leaving. It is so hard to read into these

:58:10.:58:16.

situations. Give him some space, he has brought immense joy. I asked

:58:16.:58:19.

him in the interview, and he claimed that Michael Schumacher was

:58:19.:58:24.

perhaps the greatest ambassador we have ever had. What it means is

:58:24.:58:33.

that, longevity, 21 years, pretty much solid, 300 races, it is

:58:33.:58:36.

remarkable, seven world titles, he needs his base, let him make his

:58:36.:58:42.

own decision. There was a moment when he was passed by three or four

:58:42.:58:48.

cars in quick succession. But some really racy moments from them.

:58:48.:58:53.

it was a strong performance. He made the most of his car, and he

:58:53.:59:00.

had to defend thereafter. He used to strategy well. I do not

:59:00.:59:03.

understand why we are trying to debate if he will stay or not,

:59:03.:59:10.

let's be patient. Just wait, and when we find out, it will very

:59:10.:59:14.

quickly spread. There is no question, irrespective of his

:59:14.:59:20.

second career, when it comes to an end, he has had eight huge impact.

:59:20.:59:24.

Did you always open your crisps presence on Christmas Eve?! I never

:59:24.:59:32.

got any! -- your Christmas presents?! Let's talk about Bruno

:59:32.:59:39.

Senna. A strong race from him at times. Christian Horner said they

:59:39.:59:46.

cannot get past 10. It also told us a lot about the set-up of the Red

:59:46.:59:53.

Bull. They run a shorter Top Gear. They thought that, if they got some

:59:53.:59:58.

clear space, that would be the beneficial beer. We saw they had

:59:58.:00:03.

good pace. But is where they could capitalise. But in terms of

:00:03.:00:08.

straight-line speed, they were not able to use it. This is the run

:00:08.:00:14.

into the chicane. Williams today, however made that decision, they

:00:14.:00:24.
:00:24.:00:24.

made a good decision. I think it was a major drop-off by Red Bull

:00:24.:00:29.

today. They got away with blue murder. They should not have

:00:29.:00:33.

finished in second place. This car was not quick enough, they picked

:00:33.:00:39.

the wrong gear, they were jumped upon by the rest of the teams. To

:00:39.:00:44.

finish second was remarkable. disappointing day for Williams,

:00:44.:00:49.

Pastor Maldonado involved in things he would not want to be involved in,

:00:49.:00:57.

and no points. Bruno Senna finished in 12th place, out of the points.

:00:57.:01:02.

A lot of battles there today, some of pure race. A lot of battles, but

:01:02.:01:09.

they do not come our way. Our strategy looked like a could work,

:01:09.:01:19.
:01:19.:01:20.

but we got a slow puncture. We cannot argue with the result, but

:01:20.:01:26.

we have learned a lot. Pliny to come here with important fixes for

:01:26.:01:34.

the car for Munster. -- for Monza.

:01:34.:01:39.

Let's have a love at a couple of incidents. We saw the Marussia

:01:39.:01:44.

drivers going wheel to wheel. Even Dewar's this lower end of the

:01:44.:01:48.

action, beating your team-mate, having the bragging rights, it is

:01:48.:01:55.

so important. These are still fast cars. We had different strategies,

:01:55.:01:59.

Charles Pic coming back on the inside, raising his more

:01:59.:02:05.

experienced team-mate, Timo Glock. In the end, it worked out for him.

:02:05.:02:11.

It is important for these teams to fight over every position. Let's

:02:11.:02:15.

not worry too much about the in- house battle, the battle for there

:02:15.:02:20.

is, who will finish in the top 10? At the moment, Caterham just have

:02:20.:02:25.

it. Vitaly Petrov just finished ahead of Charles Pic and Timo Glock.

:02:25.:02:29.

This would have been a crucial day with a lot of top runners out of

:02:29.:02:33.

the race, this was the time when you have to capitalise on the

:02:33.:02:37.

points available, and those teams will rue the fact they did not

:02:37.:02:44.

quite get into the top 10. Paul di Resta, well done to him, he picked

:02:44.:02:48.

up some points. If you join us on the Forum, we will print you Paul

di Resta, and talk about what happened to Sauber. All you have to

championship. It is the start of the second half of the season. For

:03:32.:03:37.

Ferrari, it is a shot across the bows, a reminder that there is a

:03:37.:03:43.

long way to go. And a reminder of how dependent they are on Fernando

:03:43.:03:49.

Alonso. Felipe Massa could not capitalise on some of the quick

:03:49.:03:53.

results we saw from Fernando Alonso earlier in the year. They dealt

:03:53.:03:58.

with the rain on Friday, a real race for the fans today. They look

happy. How can you get a happier crowd than that?! It is reminiscent
