The British Grand Prix - Highlights Formula 1

We are for me! Come on, catch up! - wait for me. I have come to

Silverstone in the past in the back of a van and a hot-air balloon, but

He won't let go west! -- let go. Everyone is in the can said. The

flags are flying. You get a real sense of the beauty and the power

of this grand prix weekend. That is crazy, man. I have this lovely

little present for you. The bowl! This is amazing. -- oh! Aaaagh!

Mummy! Well, the autograph-hunters are out in force at Silverstone.

Welcome to the 2012 British Grand Prix. And thankfully, it isn't

raining. It was a wet qualifying session with the huge delay of well

over 1.5 are worse. All from that in a couple of moments. But this

weekend, it is Sunday when the points are given away and this is

how it is stacked up. Fernando Alonso with that 20 point lead over

Mark Webber and that is significant because until the last race, the

biggest advantage for any driver was just seven points and the

battle continues with Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel so

plenty of world champions fighting for points and Pastor Maldonado,

despite Valencia, sits in 10th place. And then the constructors

battle... Once again, Red Bull extended their lead over McLaren,

and there is a tasty battle between Lotus and Ferrari but the battle on

that qualifying trek was interesting. Here's Ben Edwards...

Heavy rain caused worse -- more spills than ever. Schumacher was

fortunate to miss the barriers, as was Fernando Alonso but the

Spaniard took his first pole position in two years. Felipe Massa

had his best performance in 5th place to confirm a strong day for

the team. Mark Webber came close to Fernando Alonso's time but he was

more than happy and starts on the outside of the front row, meaning

the top two in the championship will go wheel to wheel him to turn

number one. Lewis Hamilton was fastest in Q 2 but when it came to

Q 3, he could not get the intermediate tyres to work and the

2008 winner in the wet starts and it does. Jenson Button was worse,

failing to brake into the top 17 and he will start further back than

at any other. This year. His quest for that first podium here 1 lead

Scotland's Paul di Resta. Hulkenberg is 14th after that five

days penalty for the gearbox change. And a penalty for Kobayashi from

Valencia. Timo Glock starts in 20th. Jean-Eric Vergne is penalised for

his antics in the European Grand Prix. All set... And away we go and

that is a good start from Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber switches to the

outside, Schumacher and third place fighting Felipe Massa. Sebastian

Vettel aspects behind that, that was a good start from Felipe Massa.

And Kimi Raikkonen trying to get past as well and he should have the

inside line for the left-hander. Over the kerb, makes it. Sebastian

Vettel coming back on to the entry. Force India in the background going

wide, it looked like he spun out On the Run down. Hamilton going for

the inside. Hamilton is in 9th place at the moment and it is Paul

di Resta. He has a puncture. home race, Paul di Resta, all going

wrong for him on the first lap. Jenson Button has moved up well, 12

players and Jenson Button has made ground, from 16th. Hulkenberg in

the middle of the grid with Bruno Senna. That is the battle in the

top 10 but Fernando Alonso leads. Red Bulls second, Michael

Schumacher, Felipe Massa in 4th place and Sebastian Vettel in 5th

place. Pastor Maldonado ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. Grosjean has had a

terrible start. He ran extremely wide and the exit of Copse corner

and that allowed Williams, sorry, Sauber in front. Hulkenberg goes

wide, that allows Sauber to go alongside. Down to Club corner.

Sergio Perez, around the outside. That puts him online for the exit.

Great driving. Good stuff from the young Mexican. In the dry

conditions. Fernando Alonso making that brake. Up front in the Ferrari.

Behind Jenson Button. Grosjean on the grass. That has given Jenson

Button the opportunity. Kobayashi going round the pair of them!

Jenson Button trying to switch back and take the place but Kobayashi

takes full advantage. He has got back in front of Kobayashi.

Kobayashi went a little bit wide, as we could see. Has to back off!

He cannot stay with that. Rosberg around the outside. Battling with

Toro Rosso. In behind Jenson Button. So much going on! Rosberg is in

15th place. That was a terrible first lap. Schumacher, Felipe Massa

in 4th place. Then Sebastian Vettel and further down... It is beginning

to settle down, Paul di Resta in the pits. That puncture, there was

clearly contact. You can see some of the debris on the track. The

question is, it looks sufficiently off-line to not be any danger but

that could be an issue. On board with... Kobayashi. He is down the

inside. Proton, does he have damaged? He has gone for the pits.

Well spotted. That releases Jenson Button, up into 12 position, now.

As we watch the leaders coming through. Michael Schumacher has to

watch his mirrors. Felipe Massa looking very good indeed. In

Valencia, Felipe Massa had contact with Kobayashi. The Lotus of

Grosjean, he got married last week. This weekend, nothing going to plan.

Surely, they're trying to change something? They had the jack under

the car, that would be the indication of the front wing change

but from that angle, and was unable to see any activity. It was more

than just a pit stop. He has probably just changed to the other

compound. Felipe Massa, trying to get past Michael Schumacher into

Copse corner. One of the fastest. The oversteer, he has to change

down the middle of the corner. Does that leave and vulnerable to

Sebastian Vettel? He almost makes it! But Felipe Massa is just able

to defend. Behind, Pastor Maldonado catching up. The that will leave

him vulnerable on the straight. Will he try to do the Nigel Mansell

around the outside? No, he cannot do that. Behind, we still have the

Williams of Pastor Maldonado. Kimi Raikkonen not far behind. There he

goes! On the inside. There was contact but no damage to the wing.

Just that touch on the wheel, by the looks of things. Still Felipe

Massa in 4th place, then Sebastian Vettel. Michael Schumacher has that

vital breathing space. He tries to get on top of things. That is still

Paul di Resta, trying to get things sorted out. This is his second time

in the pits. Sergio Perez, just going quickly. 9th to us at the

moment, his fastest lap. We have seen the Sauber being so fast on

different circuits this year. Here is the start... Fernando Alonso has

to go defensive very early and he is within his rights to do so. Mark

Webber has to back out. We have Michael Schumacher, having to go

defensive for Felipe Massa who thinks about going down the inside.

The position on the outside is his exactly as Kimi Raikkonen does.

Then we run out of the complex. Going into that section... Let us

see what the contact was with Force India. You can see it was Paul di

Resta and Grosjean. On board with Mark Webber... You can hear that

wheelspin. He makes a fantastic start and has tripled to the left.

Fernando Alonso, using his KERS. Look at the gap he got. Mark Webber

was just feathering that. Or on board with Kimi Raikkonen. On the

outside. That allows it clear run into the braking zone. But he gets

too deep inside. And it all starts to go wrong. Here is Jenson Button,

sorry, Lewis Hamilton. Kimi Raikkonen looks into his mirror. To

the left. This would normally be taken flat out. But Lewis Hamilton

being cautious. He positions himself on the outset. Pastor

Maldonado, no room. But the most attacking start for Lewis Hamilton

but he is playing the long game. Where was that contact? Grosjean

top -- touching the back of Paul di Resta. There he is. That was a very

short Grand Prix, extremely disappointed young man. The top 10

come Alonso, Webber, Schumacher, Felipe Massa, Sebastian Vettel,

Kimi Raikkonen, Pastor Maldonado in 7th place, Hamilton, Perez and

Senna. I every lap, he Liz's performance. You can see the middle

of the front left tyre, on the right of the screen, showing signs.

The track is green, there has been so much rain. What we mean is the

rubber, it has impregnated the surface of the track so you get

that juddering a bit higher across the tarmac and that is crucial. He

will have to revert to his strategy to make some earlier stop than he

may otherwise have wanted to get some clean air and that is dictated

by the amount of time you lose in the pit lane, 16 seconds roughly,

and that dropsy end to the trainer this group are all tied together,

and Hamilton is very much part of it. He is still potentially on for

a podium, as Perez goes up the inside, not quite. Hamilton is able

to shut the door, Perez not able to nip past into. Button is struggling

with the rear of his car at the minute, so the McLarens seemed to

be struggling. They are, and we have heard that Hamilton has been

told that Schumacher is struggling on the options, so McLaren trying

to keep Lewis Kahn at this stage of the hard tyre, telling him the

option is not looking good at the moment. Clearly, a bit of a wake-up

call for Hamilton as Perez tried down the inside into the village

corner. Schumacher is 40.1, holding the others up. Now, that is

interesting, it applies that Webber is happy to sit at a gap of about

three seconds behind the race leader, and that is all about tyre

management. We expect at least two starts this afternoon, as we see

Grosjean coming back through the field. It should not be a difficult

pass on the Marussia, but they did not make it too easy for him. That

was getting past Glock. As I say, we expect two stops to be what

people will try to aim for, but if tyre where his high, we can see

them reverting to three, and maybe Mark... As we see activity from the

Red Bull dies, they are aiming for it, and sector has decided to come

in for tyres. -- Vettel. Is the first of the lead broker to make

that stop. He goes out on the harder compound tyre. It looks

fairly smooth, on his way once again, a fairly long pit lane, but

it does cut out a section of track, the Club corner, so it is not a

long time spent in pit-lane, 3.5 seconds stationery, and Vettel

rejoins. We saw Paul di Resta go out, this is what happened, this

was the contact with Romain Grosjean. We are riding with Romain

Grosjean, and it was just a glancing blow, but it was enough to

cause a puncture. Let's just keep an eye on these pit stops as the

boys go to work. That was a good start by the Williams crew, and I

do not think there will be changed between Williams and Sauber. The

last pit box for Williams gives them a nice clear run back out onto

the circuit. Joining just behind her Jean-Eric Vergne, and just as

we were listening to Paul di Resta, as we see Maldonado getting deep

into the village corner, we heard on the radio from Massa that he

felt comfortable, a bit of degradation, but not too much. He

has managed to pull a pass on Michael Schumacher in the inside of

Stowe corner. He looks like he is on form here. They touch! Maldonado

hit Perez, contact on the outside of Brooklands. The right rear is

broker Maldonado, that is a long way back to the pits. As Perez got

any damage? He would have been in the DRS zone. He has tried to go

for the outside, and we need to see a replay of that, but as they

drifted through the entry to Brooklands, they ran out of road

and the contact was made. potential podium finishers out of

the race. Maldonado was penalised last time after the contact with

Lewis Hamilton in Valencia. That was a different kind of accident, a

racing accident as they were both looking for position. Meanwhile,

Michael Schumacher has just come into the pit lane remember, he was

third but dropped to 4th just a few moments ago before these pit stops.

Dr S disabled, that is interesting, I wonder why that is being reported.

-- DRS. I wonder if there is a drop of rain around. Back out goes

Michael Schumacher. Gary, what are you thinking on tyres at the

moment? Alonso is still staying out in the lead. Everybody is taking a

lesson from them. Michael is going out on the hard tyre now. Alonso

has just done the fastest lap, so it shows they are very stable. A

replay. Perez puts himself on the outside into Brooklands, and even

Maldonado was running out of racetrack and was at the limit of

his grid, or he decided to take a slightly wider line. The stewards

will decide. It looks like Maldonado and oversteer into the

corner, and in that case it is always going to be the wall of

death around the outside, you put yourself at the mercy of the car

giving you space. That would have been an incredible pass if Perez

be coming. At least we are not hearing it. Yes, that was a brave

attempt, and it did not come off, and that has cost them both this

afternoon. Alonso is into the pits. He has managed to get to lap 15,

lap 16 before having to make a pit stop, so these hard tyres have gone

extremely well, and he puts another set on. Remember, he will have to

run the softer tyre at some point. Button getting into the next year,

racing hard for position, currently trying to race with Vettel, who has

got past him. He has indeed, Vettel has done his stop, a fresher set of

tyres. Button is yet to stop. Hamilton going deep into this race,

going surprisingly far on this set of tyres, and at the moment he is

giving Alonso behind him. Now, Alonso of course is on a much

fresher set of tyres, he will want to try to dispatch the McLaren as

quickly as possible. Alonso as a five-second gap to Mark Webber the

Hind, a bit of breathing space, but he will not want to lose too much

time behind Hamilton on his fresh tyres. The last lap, Alonso running

0.7 seconds faster than Hamilton, too far behind as they exit

Becketts on to the Hangar Straight, to position himself for a pass on

Lewis. Lewis has to be looking to come in any time soon on these

tyres. They will be getting an indication on lap time from Button,

he was doing personal best sectors in 13th place. This is what the

crowd wants to see, David, a British driver up front, and right

now it is Lewis Hamilton. I know it is to do with strategy, but it is

still a great performance. He has been able to get this far without

making a pit-stop. Alonso comes out of Club corner, so much more grid

on the Ferrari, but he cannot do anything with it. It is his next

section that they're coming up to now which includes the DRS zone,

where Alonso will attack. He tries to go side-by-side, but Lewis is

controlling the inside of the corner. Now we get to the D RS zone,

and Alonso will have been before he needs to use the DRS. He blasts

past him, and in fact he has got it because he was behind Hamilton.

Hamilton comes back at him! He gets back past him, but he cannot hold

him, and Alonso will go as they again, one of fighting spirit there

from Lewis Hamilton! Lewis is not worrying about the fact that this

is actually affecting his own personal strategy, all striving off

line and going wheel-to-wheel, making his lap time slower,

affecting where he comes out after his pit stop. He is just raising

for the British crowd, and what entertainment we got there. I do

not know how he managed to come back at Alonso when he had the DRS

available. The McLaren cannot have its DRS available. No, he was

behind Alonso at the DRS activation point. Remarkable, the McLaren

passes the Ferrari in a straight line without DRS, it came to

nothing but what great entertainment. Remarkable stuff! A

few years ago, when they were both having a seasons, they were dicing

like that for 14th place. Now it was for the lead, but Hamilton has

not made a pit stop. He has gone so deep, and this opens up some

opportunities for McLaren to do something quite different to the

others. Mrs Hamilton coming into the pits from second place. The

question is, where Willie dropped two when he comes back out? Well,

his gap to Grosjean was about 14 seconds, and we reckon the time in

pit lane for a three-second stop will cost you about 16. The mass do

not add up. It is a good stop, certainly very quick. McLaren have

definitely improved their pit-stops after so many problems this year.

Grosjean has just passed us on the start-finish straight, so I think

Hamilton has made it work in this instance, he pops out just behind

the Raikkonen-Schumacher battle. I think I need to sharpen my pencil

because I thought that was going to be a lot closer. He is in seventh

place now, Lewis Hamilton. The battle for 5th, Schumacher,

Raikkonen, Hamilton in seventh position. Now he is on the softer

compound tyre, and we just wait to see how far he is going to go in

the race. Is on a different strategy to the others around him.

He has gone deeper into the race and the harder tyre. Alonso is

similar, he went pretty deep himself, and Alonso now leads this

race by about five seconds from Mark Webber. Now that everybody has

made their pit-stop, we can catch up a bit more with where everybody

is. Let's just get a quick word with Sergio Perez, who went out at

that incident with Maldonado. us about what happened from your

seat. Well, I mean, Pastor Maldonado is a driver who does not

respect other drivers. As a matter of fact, I was already in front,

and if not, he should have given menot to crash. He tried to push me

all way to the outside, and I do not understand a way he is driving.

I mean, I hope the stewards come down hard on him, because the last

three or four races he has done this with someone. It is not the

first time he has damaged my weekend. He did the same with Lewis

in Valencia. They just gave him a drive-through. It is not enough.

The dive will never learn if they do not do something, because it is

dangerous, he is a very dangerous driver, and it can hurt someone.

Have the drive has spoken about it? Are they concerned about Pastor

Maldonado? Everybody has concerns. He is a driver that does not have

respect. Doesn't he know that we are risking our lives? He has no

respect at all, and the way he is driving, I think the stewards have

to do something by now, because it is not the first time he does

something, and he does affect many other drivers, I am not the only

one. Kimi Raikkonen is making the move on Michael Schumacher to take

the eighth position, and Lewis Hamilton, on the softer compound

tyres, has also got a chance now to make that same move on Schumacher.

We just heard from his engineers prior to that same, you are on the

options, the guys in front are on the harder tyres, the prime tyres,

and Lewis Hamilton has called the pass on Schumacher into Copse. Two

passes on Michael within the space of about one kilometre. The

Mercedes is struggling at the moment to give pace with the

McLaren and Lotus. Coming back to what Sergio Perez have his say,

that is pretty strong and damning language regarding all of the

drivers having concerns over the driving Standards of Maldonado. We

are seeing a replay of Kimi Raikkonen going around the outside

of Michael on the run into Brooklands. He used the DRS very

effectively, and there was nothing Michael could do about it. You will

see the game in speed, the reduction in drag, and it works

beautifully. The big challenge here now would be for Webber to close at

gap, because Alonso has been on the hard tyre and will be on the soft

at the end, whereas Webber can end the race on the hard. The end of

the race is where that will play at, and Webber needs to show at the gap

down. Webber and Vettel not out of this yet if the tyre choice works

in the latter stages. He has closed the gap to Massa, but it is coming

down by little margins. Hamilton is still in sixth place, Lewis

Hamilton in sixth place, Schumacher in 7th, Kobayashi are Sauber in 8th,

Hulkenberg is quietly during a round in ninth place. Sorry, he is

trying hard, but he is out of our view at the moment a little bit

because he is on his own, Hulkenberg. Senna is intense and

has been intense for much of the race. Button is in 11th ahead of

Rosberg. Ricciardo is back up to 13th, then, a firm, Kovalainen,

Maldonado, Glock. De la Rosa has gone back into the pits. Cars not

in the race, as McLaren get ready for a pit stop, we lost Petrov

before the start of the race in the Caterham, and then we lost Di Resta

and Perez. In comes Lewis Hamilton, and it was a short stint on the

softer tyre, David, and now they're putting the harder tyre on. They

have indeed. We would expect them to look at another stop this

afternoon, but of course they only need to stop for tyres if he

chooses. There is no refuelling, and he only did eight laps on the

last set of tyres. That brings him has done to pit stops. But in is so

much further down the grid. The majority of people on the harder

compound. Lewis Hamilton put in the pressure on Nico Rosberg and not

wanting to hang around too long on these two tyres to get past the

Mercedes. He will get new performance. Qualifying was wet so

there is an ample amount of new tyres. You don't want to manage

them through their life. They just give you that more confidence, even

when you have a hefty amount of fuel. TEAM RADIO: That is good, we

have in close behind. 23 laps to go. You don't want to be stopping again.

Great job. Lots of encouragement for Lewis Hamilton. Picking his way

through the traffic. Both HRT cars still very much in this. Bruno

Senna up the road, 10th position. Both Williams cars still running.

Maldonado having lost all that time after that incident with Sergio

Perez. And a monocle, Maldonado crashed into Sergio Perez. But that

was a different instant. That was a more deliberate manoeuvre. Lots of

suspension travel in the front of that Lotus. I have never noticed

that. Running wide as he goes deeper into what is the entry of

the Village section. Now on to Aintree corner. Look at the amount

of suspension. That isn't something we are supposed to see on these

cars. Builders will have that third element. Generating that downforce

in a straight line, making sure it does not run on the ground. On the

lower speed corners, you allow the car to have compliance. Gary, can

you come in? Hamilton getting past Rosberg. We see that suspension

movement on the Lotus. Here comes Grosjean. Could that be because the

cars were set up softer in the expectation of a wet race? He it

could be, there is another suspension system and those big

cars would be more compliant. Yes. It would not be surprised to see

more rolling on these cars for the wet conditions because the forecast

for today was wet. Yes, I am sure that is true. And the teams are not

allowed to change the set up after qualifying. He cannot change the

set up. They interesting up front. Grosjean has the best Seat in the

house. McLaren against McLaren. Different strategies. Barton has

yet to make his second stop. Hamilton has already. Jenson Button

taking his racing line. This will cost Lewis Hamilton some

performance. Will people that pass on Wellington Street? Using DRS?

Both McLaren cars together. Hamilton with the DRS but he isn't

close enough. That suggests the drivers are free to race. That is a

fantastic thing. Team orders are allowed. Jenson Button not giving

any quarter. He has his strategy and it looks like Lewis Hamilton

will pull his pass down into Copse corner. Exactly where he passed

Nico Rosberg. He has fresher tyres and that will allow growth shone

through... Nothing he can do. Hamilton would have liked Jenson

Button to hold Grosjean off for a little bit longer because McLaren

are racing hard for position and also, joining up and coming in

behind, Nico Rosberg. He seemed to be struggling earlier but is now

catching up to the McLaren. In the pits, Sebastian Vettel. He gets on

his way. Kimi Raikkonen. The harder compound. He is driving a good race.

And a good opportunity to perhaps mix with the Red Bull. -- Red Bulls.

Can they get to the end of the race on the set of tyres? That is the

key for Michael Schumacher. Adrian Sutil, there. Formerly from Force

India. Where will he come back out? Just trying to say. With

Hulkenberg? He can see in the background. TEAM RADIO: We have two

options. We will have the best tyres we can for the rest of the

race. Fernando Alonso still has to run the softer tyres. They are

hoping that by staying out there, the Red Bulls will have a chance to

do something. Here we are with Grosjean. He is ahead of Lewis

Hamilton. Let us see how this happened. Grosjean on the attack

for quite a while. This is how he did it, using DRS. Lewis Hamilton

does not even defend. He just feels that the difference in pace is so

much, he has it that will feint to the left and then stays on the

racing line and that releases Grosjean. He immediately goes

purple in the first sector. Felipe Massa. This is also crucial stop.

Mark Webber has set the fastest lap. Were wilfully them as a come out?

Both Red Bulls are fastest. Sebastian Vettel has already gone

through. -- were -- where will he come out? Kobayashi is in behind.

Mark Webber sets the fastest lap of the race but only six tenths

quicker than what Fernando Alonso is doing on the older tyres.

Ferrari showing great pace. In this long run in the middle stand.

Fernando Alonso has some breathing space. He can afford to run out a

couple of laps, if he wants. There is a clear indication that he will

need to come in some time soon. have to run those times. Fernando

Alonso and Kobayashi have to make those extra stops. Rosberg, still

has not used the soft tyres. Some pit stops still to come. Mark

Webber and Sebastian Vettel will be going to the end of this. When this

work for Red Bull? Can they keep the pressure on Fernando Alonso in

that final stint? It is down to these laps, Mark Webber is behind

Fernando Alonso and he has to get that down to about 15. So that when

he pits, he is right on his tail. Fernando Alonso, 36.5, his fastest

of the race. He would need to go 42 to make sure he does not get caught

up with the software. They say is crucial. Mark Webber has to go for

it. He has set the fastest lap. You are watching a man who isn't so

much looking... He still has to look after the tyres, he cannot

afford to over keep them, but he has to put in some qualifying style

that. This will not be enough, Ferrari can mutter that and they do

not want to be too early on to the option tyre. They do not like that

as much as the prime, harder tyre. But she would rather defend the

position from having the lead and just sitting there and watching the

lead being eroded and then put in because you aim for the target lap.

Ferrari will manage that, Fernando Alonso, their experienced and the

fastest man on the track is Kimi Raikkonen. He has just set the

fastest lap. One-tenth quicker than Mark Webber. The Lotus has got

great pace. It isn't so hot, Lotus usually performs well when it is

hot. Fernando Alonso... That is earlier than expected. As I said,

you do not want to watch the lead being eroded, anything can happen

at the pit stop, they would rather released the man and let him use

his experience to manage the tyres. You can only do so much and when

the tyres drop off the edge of the cliff, at least he is doing that

for the position of a breathing space. Clean air and several

seconds on Mark Webber. We will see them at the end of the first sector

and will give you an update. Mark Webber, about five seconds out.

Mark Webber knows exactly what the target is. He will have seen it. He

knows that is the final stop and down the other situation, they both

run into the flag and are both on different tyres. Kobayashi being

pulled back to his pit box. I do not know what happened. A Labour

get a replay. He either overshot the box or they released him and

decided to pull him back. Let us keep an eye on the screens. As we

see Kobayashi going out, also Nico Rosberg. Returning to the race.

Let's take a look at this. This is what happened. We caught a glimpse

of this. Oh! No! He hit several of his guys. He came in so quickly.

That is so unusual to see. So will uncomfortable to watch. Those brave

mechanics to put themselves on the frontline. Unfortunately, the man

on the right-hand side, very little room to get out of the way. The

He was running in 5th place. Mark Webber turning on the pressure on

Fernando Alonso and we're into the last 10 laps. Fernando Alonso

managing the situation, such a wider customer, he might allow Mark

Webber to just think he can control his own tyres. That is what

Fernando Alonso has to do, look after his equipment. Mark Webber,

this is how close it is, the gap between first and second place.

Through Becketts and on to Hangar Straight... Not close enough to

challenge. Quicker on the middle sector, taking chunks of the lap

A Alonso is using all his KERS out of turn four. He is going around

the outside of Brooklands for the lead! He has done it, Mark when I

get ahead, but he is a little white and Alonso will try to come through

on the inside. Passing the grandstands, the old start-finish

area, he has taken the lead for Red Bull. That is a perfect example of

teamwork. It is not just Mark tried to find a position to pass, his

engineer was explaining exactly how Alonso was deploying his strategy

tools and using all of his KERS on the Wellington strake. Mark bottoms

seven points on him. Meanwhile, Bruno Senna is trying to get past

Nico Hulkenberg. He was held up as he tried to accelerate out of the

corner, so what does this do for Jenson Button? He was trying to

battle for the final point, but Senna puts himself on the outside

and will have the position as they ran into Luffield. Button trying to

join in, Senna still felt that of Hulkenberg, and a crucial move for

Bruno Senna to take ninth place from Nico Hulkenberg. Jenson Button

is not close enough, but here comes Hulkenberg down the outside!

this will give Button a chance as Hulkenberg runs wide, and Button

gets into the points as Hulkenberg did not want to relinquish that

place, and in the end he went from running in ninth place down to 11th.

We are on to the final lap, and the Red Bull guys are running out of

the pit garage already, because Mark Webber surely has this one

under control. I say that, who can forget that Vettel lost a dominant

lead just a couple of weeks ago when the alternator overheated? I

do not think that is going to happen on this occasion, Renault

to come back, we decided to pit early, user momentum and come out

ahead. That was a good call, but all in all obviously I would be

happier if I would have won, but nevertheless I think it was a great

result for the team, very happy, we are down the road, it is our home

Grand Prix. A disappointing day in the sense that we wish we could

have gone further forward and we wish we could have given more for

the fans, you know, given more of a result, but we push and I pushed as

hard as I could, I was flat-out right to the end, and for some

reason we did not have any speed. It is a little bit frustrating, you

know, followers and myself, so we have got to pull together and make

some progress for the next race in Hockenheim, because this was very

disappointing in front of the home crowd, who have been amazing over

the whole weekend. Difficult weather conditions, it has been

tough for them, and we wanted to put on a better show today, so

sorry for that, but hopefully we will next time. We are not sure if

somebody hit us all something happened to the tyre, but I turned

into turn four and it was clearly punctured. It is unfortunate, but
