The Spanish Grand Prix - Highlights Formula 1

Spanish Grand Prix, from here at the Circuit de Catalunya on the

outskirts of bars. Come into this this race woebgd the table had a

familiar feel to it with Sebastian Vettel leading the way. 12 months

ago when we were here we had a 34 point lead in the Championship. Now

34 pointss the top nine. It is so close. McLaren have been leading

the way earlier this the season. After the last race in Bahrain, won

by Sebastian Vettel, he and Red Bull took the lead in both the

Championship standsings. Lotus a strong start to the season, sitting

third going into the Grand Prix. All the action from the race coming

your way in a moment but first here is what happened in a dramatic

qualifying session on Saturday, that was decided off the track, not

on it. Lewis Hamilton described his first ever Spanish pole position as

a dream. But it soon turned into a nightmare. ON RADIO: We need to

stop the car, turn off. You are on pole at the moment. It meant a trip

the stewards who discovered there had not been enough fuel to get

back to pit lane. They disqualified Hamilton and he was sent back to

the grid. Jenson Button had a bad day as well. The biggest surprise

was past. Hamilton's demotion means he's gets hiss first ever pole

position in Formula One. The power of the home-grown helped Fernando

Alonso none who put his struggling Ferrari into third. Much better tan

he or the Italian team hoped for. Felipe Massa could only manage 17th,

blaming traffic, although Ferrari have said they are disappointed

with his performance. Mark Webber said Red Bull had been caught with

their pants down, after he was told that the time he had set was good

enough to make it into Q3 but an end to the session meant he was

knocked out. Sebastian Vettel did make it into the top ten, but opted

not set a time and save tyres for drive from beautiful Barcelona is

buzzing. With anticipation, ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, because

the national racing hero Fernando Alonso starts up front and we have

a topsy turvy grid. Lights out, away we go! It is Williams versus

Ferrari. Pastor Maldonado, Fernando Alonso has a good start. Alonso

goes wheel-to-wheel. Kimi Raikkonen is challenging on the outside.

Alonso takes the lead, Maldonado is trying to stay with him. He can't,

into second place, Raikkonen is third. Grosjean is fourth. No he

has been passed by Perez. He has been hit somewhere along the line

and Perez in trouble. He has been clipped as he went through turn two.

A Fran it is a -- fantastic start. Rosberg has gone past Grosjean.

Lewis Hamilton is making places. Jenson Button trying to do likewise.

Vettel trying to squeeze down the outside of Kobayashi. We will try

and keep an eye on where Hamilton. He is up to 19th. Onboard with Mark

Webber. Battling away, hn to the crowd, as Alonso leads this race,

the crowd going crazy, Webber trying to go all round Force India.

Could he do snit. Didn't manage on that one. Not quite. Massa has made

up a lot of ground. Alonso leads Maldonado. They can Raikkonen,

Grosjean, Schumacher, Vettel coming through. Kobayashi and then look at

mas sa, he has made up some places. Webber on the outside makes it

stick this time. So he worked hard for that place. But, Mark Webber

has gone up one place and it is showing that will be 13th at the

end of this lap. Lock at this start from Fernando Alonso. Beautiful get

away and a great first lap for the Maestro, who has already had a race

victory this year in the wet in Malaysia, but now the improvements

they have made to Ferrari seem to be working. Look at him getting

away from Maldonado, Rosberg in a so lild fourth place. Schumacher

has a look. Grosjean looks the inside but the positions stay the

same. Stkpwhrust the background, we have Sebastian Vettel. He ran very

wide on the last corner, going out on to the artificial grass. You can

see how much he dropped back from the back of suem Schumacher. He

wants to be working to get within that one second window for the end

of lap two. There we have Perez, in with that left rear tyre. He has

been clipped. We will hope to get a replay. There is Hamilton trying to

gain as much ground as possible. You are onboard with the British

driver as he tries to make up as much ground as he can in theerly

his laps. Senna struggled in qualifying. Hamilton is looking on

the inside. No-one overtakes there, Hamilton -- Hamilton does, he is

through into 17th place. That was a fantastic move. As we get a replay

of the start. The down side of course, for, is that one of the

slow Toro Rosso getting passed immediately by Hulkenberg in the

Force India. Let us look out for the contact with Perez. He is on

the outside running into turn one, where does that clip come? Is it

with one of the Lotuses? Onboard with Alonso, his initial get away

was better, the actual start they are after was similar, with the

Williams car, look at that, they are pegged for straight line speed

as they run into the first corner. This is the view that Fernando

Alonso had this time last year. End of the first corner, clear track.

He did it from fourth last year. This is the view from Jenson

Button's car. Michael Schumacher was on the right. Another one who

made a good start was Jean-Eric Vergne. He made up a hot of ground.

Where was this contact with the Sauber? Difficult to see. I think

it came with Grosjean in the Lotus, I think it came at the end of turn

two. He was in that battle as he went in turn one. He seems you can

see him rejoining in front of Hamilton, great evasive action from

Hamilton. Unsurprisingly, we have Sergio Perez who has gone purple.

That makes him the fastest man on the track. One second quicker than

our current race leaders, so those tyres working fine. Fernando Alonso

with a 1.5 second lead. Mark Webber in now, very early stop for him.

Which tyres are they putting him on? Looks like they are putting on

the harder tyre. You see Vettel is in as well so Red Bull trying to

get the drivers in clean air. puttings them on the harder of the

two tyres, Perez is still lapping fast on his harder tyres that he

went to straight after that puncture, so let us see what they

do. Yes, they have put him on the harder tyre and sent him on his way.

Sebastian Vettel, in theory should come out ahead of Webber. Crucially

they have got that phase of the race away with the softer tier,

which is more susceptible to drop off. He has three sets of those

hard primes available for him this afternoon. Of course, the pit stops

will mix things up a bit. It is going to be Hamilton o or Button

coming in first into the pits? It is Button. He is already in and

Jensen comes in. To put the harder tyres on. Nos in at the same time.

Drest has come in and drest and Button getting quite close together

-- drest. No question of un safe. The McLaren has come out behind

Sebastian Vettel, so no real change there. Not at this stage. Kobayashi.

He has Timo Glock who has not been into the pits yet yet in the

Marussia. Behind him is Mark Webber trying to get nast the Red Bull.

Timo Glock is racing for himself. Running in 8th place this how Lewis

guilt past, it was an error from Hulkenberg and a gifted pass.

not often you see someone running wide at turn nine. It is bumty bs -

- bumpy, more of a tail wind but it was like Hulkenberg got staired --

scared off the track by the sight of Lewis Hamilton's yellow helmet.

They say that he used to be like that with Ayrton Senna, the track

used to open up to him. ON RADIO: We are P8. You are doing a cracking

job mate. Lots of encurrent and in comes our race leader Fernando

Alonso, Maldonado stays out there and a good lap from him. 1.30.8.

This is a crucial stage. Great pit stop by Ferrari. They have

consistently been one of the fastest o fastest teams in the pit.

Let us see what the time was. Very God. That is a a fantastic pit stop

from Ferrari. That would have been an under three second wheel change.

Gross in and out, so a few pit stops taking place right now and

Schumacher heads back on to circuit. Gross comes back out. Schumacher is

coming back out in front of Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull.

Senna still running round without having stopped instth place. That

is the other William, but Maldonado now leads this race and a crucial

couple of laps for Pastor Maldonado to see what pace he can achieve on

the tyres, or will Alonso having made his pit stop gain the edge.

Rosberg, there is brown know Senna and disappointed in qualifying but

he has put in strong race performances this year, I wonder if

Senna will try and go for a two stop whereas a lot of the others

are going for a minimum free stop. I suppose somebody might think a

four stop. They used four stops to get through the race hast year but

we had different tyre compounds in kwhruest year behind Rosberg, keep

an eye on Grosjean in the Lotus. expect Maldonado will come in, he

is. Locking at the last lap it was a 30.8. That is thee or four tenths

slower than Alonso so he reached the point where ewas getting

diminishing returns from his tyres. Very conservative. We don't know if

it was a good stop or not. Is he still in the box. No, he is clear.

Kimi Raikkonen in from third splie, the top three have all stopped. Let

us see where they couple out relative to Alonso, he has gone

through? Yes, he has opened out slightly during that phase of the

pit stop. I think you are right. Rosberg trying to get past Senna.

They are going to touch! Definite flying up in the air. That looked

like it might have been coming off the Williams but aggressive stuff

from Grosjean. Here we get a replay. Grosjean sees the gap. Senna gives

his space, that might be a flick off the front of the Lotus car

there, and I think that is part of the end plate of the Lotus, you can

see on the front left. The front wing. Has he had contact? I suspect

there has be a coming together between Schumacher and Senna. That

is down at turn one, well, that is the shake of the head tell us all.

That is an expensive steering wheelment I think we will get a

replay here. Well, Michael, it looks leek you hit the car in front.

Now, what do we think that Bruno was doing in the braking area? It

looks like Michael was caught out by how early Bruno was having to

brake for turn one. Finally Hamilton into the pits so he has

gone a fantastic job. He runs over the front wheel gun. The wheel gun

was still there when he tried to pull away, so, they have made

changes for the pit stop, but if the green light came on which I

presume it did, and he went, it looks like a wheel gun has been

left. We need to get a replay of that. That would have cost him time.

He has Colback on the hard tyre, so going on to that new set of primes.

That hasn't helped him at all. The stop wasn't as slow as it might

have been. Take another look David. Is that front wheel that bounced or

the rear wheel. Different to see from this side. It's the rear I

think. He has caught the rear wheel. They haven't been able to get the

wheel out of the way in time. RADIO: Did I hit something in the

pit lane. We think you hit one of the other tyres. Everything is OK.

Carry on. I don't think that much of a question as a statement,

because that wasn't a normal pull away, there is Bruno Senna, passing

on his regards to his team. That doesn't look like a man who is

feeling that guilty by that. Here we go, is this a replay of the

incident? Michael Schumacher would have been in the DRS zone. Would

have been going up to 18 kilometres and hour different. It doesn't look

like he is going for the pass at this stage. I hate to be up on

Michael because it appears I ambiter and twisted he used to beat

me all the time. What did Bruno do wrong there? I don't know. He got

on the brakes for the corner. I don't know what else he could have

done. Michael might say he braked too early but as the guy behind you

have to allow for that. I. remember an incident with Fernando

Alonso when I was at McLaren I had to avoid running into the back of

him. In the data it showed he braked 30 metres earlier than the

lap. The stewards said it's the right of the car in front, as we

see. That is Paul di Resta passing Mark Webber. What is going on here.

Drest on the option tyre, so the faster of the two. Does Mark Webber

have an issue on the primes? He is running wide. He has lost another

place to the Toro Rosso, of Jeffrey Bernard, and then another place to

Felipe Massa. Look who is joining in on this. It is Hamilton joining

in. He must have a problem. He is In all the excitement, did I finish

my sentence? The stewards told me that time it is the right of the

car in front to choose where it brakes. They are looking at the

nose of sections. Is it winger pit lane here, they have a new nose

available. Something has gone wrong with that front wing assembly. We

can't see anything of fears. This will put him well out of the points

-- anything obvious. They were saying it was down on the front

load, Gary, how do they know that? The difference between the rear and

the front suspension, they can see when something dramatic has

happened. It is just to make sure the forces are there. They are

putting a new front of wing on. But. Will be difficult from here. Let's

hear from Michael Schumacher. The very disappointing, tell us

what happened. I just took a minute to watch the video replay and if

you look at the shot, the overhead shot, you can see that he moves

right to defend his inside position of but then in the breaking phase,

he moves back left. I tried to then moved to the inside again but it is

Jenson Button will be in. Those sorts of speed, the vibration just

means you can't actually see, but he has a clean run in and the Red

Bull mechanics are holding back their hoses. The softer tyre going

on. They send him on his way. little slow getting the rear axle

Dan. Ashdown. 21 seconds, it will cost them a little bit of time.

Kovalainen, Hulkenberg and Webber running behind him. Kovalainen, he

has only done one stop. This is a replay of Fernando and none so.

happy. It was like a stately wave. -- Fernando Alonso. But it will

have cost him time. He knows that in the pit stop phase, every tenth

of a second counts. The Ferrari boys getting ready. We saw

Karthikeyan's hedge are -- how HRT stop at the end of the pit lane.

Were well Fernando Alonso come out in terms of Maldonado? -- Where

will. That is Maldonado there, Fernando Alonso last time in the

pit stop and Maldonado has come through. That barely stop was

crucial by the Williams team and the fastest lap of the race so far

by Maldonado -- that barely stop. It puts him well in the lead.

great effort by Williams and Maldonado, who now leads the race.

Gary, I just want your thoughts on strategies. We have seen Alonso and

Maldonado coming in at the same time and Raikkonen is in, is that

right? Yes, Grosjean has been in and Raikkonen is now in. It has

given him that little edge that he has. Alonso pitted one stop earlier

and lost a lot of time but I think it was a lap too late, he has paid

the price because he has Lee Williams in front of him now.

I think the way they gave to the Marussia, that would have cost them

time. -- the wave. We can see Hamilton. And Felipe Massa, he has

been struggling to get by the Ferrari. I think he might regret

the gear selection this afternoon. He couldn't possibly know he was

going to be put to the back of the grid and you can see the effect of

losing downforce as Hamilton runs extremely wide in turn three. Then

much tighter and seems to struggle a bit. A drive-through penalty for

Sebastian Vettel, failing to slow for yellow flags. And Sebastian

Vettel, the championship leader, not having a good race in Spain

this weekend. Felipe Massa has all wrote -- also got a drive-through

for failing to slow and that will help Hamilton. It is all change. He

has got to drive through, Felipe Massa has got to drive through and

this will release Hamilton. We had a changing complexion courtesy of

some mistakes on a yellow. If the yellow flags are red, they have got

to show they have backed off a bit. -- are out. The drivers will say

that when you have different phases of the Grand Prix, you might have

just pitted or have fresh tyres, you can go one or two seconds

quicker. That is Felipe Massa going to serve his time, which releases

Hamilton into some clean air. Let's just look at the Gaff he has, he

his 5.5 seconds behind Grosjean -- let's have a look at the gap he has,

must have been from the incident between Michael Schumacher and

Bruno Senna. Well, we are just looking at a replay of that and we

had an earlier incident between Bruno Senna and Michael Schumacher.

Let's hear from Bruno Senna. Michael has just said it was your

fault, what you say to that? Obviously, he is not going to say

it is his own fault but at the end of the day, he had much newer tyres

than me, I was on old rubber, so the point at which we would have

brake were different. I could see crosier and late and hitting me in

turn want so I didn't want Michael to be the same -- Grosjean was late.

He probably tried to cross and hit me, so what can you do?

Michael Schumacher is getting a bit familiar with sitting on the

sidelines this year, it has happened quite a few times.

Meanwhile, back with the battle. Nico Rosberg has done a good job of

managing this race and putting Jenson Button under pressure with

Kobayashi, and Kobayashi finds the inside line. Jenson wisely, once he

realises that Kobayashi, who has a reputation as a man who knows how

to pass, I think Jenson was just caught out a little bit with the

closing speed of the Sauber and that is going to make his afternoon

and little more tricky. Jenson moves over and Kobayashi says thank

you very much, or something to that affect in Japanese. A lovely move

by Kobayashi. He timed it to perfection and there was nothing

more stop this afternoon? The McLaren guys are in the pit lane,

he is in. He will have to go 30 laps if he was to stop now and try

and go through to the end of the race and that seems unlikely. They

are putting the harder tyre arm. They had to do that, there was just

no way. The teams are telling us that once these tyres and lose

their performance, then it is gone and it has gone in Barcelona in a

big way. Vettel are through the last phase of the lap, right behind

Jenson Button. Jenson Button is on the option tyres, Sebastian Vettel

is on the prime, the more durable. Definitely Sebastian Vettel is

closing, using the DRS and de KERS. He sweeps around Jenson Button. He

makes it look very easy in what is a demanding place to overtake and

he takes seventh place from Jenson Button. I can imagine Jenson will

get a radio message anytime soon complaining about the drop-off of

those options and he will be looking for and an earlier pit stop.

In the end, a fairly straightforward pass. Jenson and

clearly driving a little bit wounded on these tyres -- Jenson.

He has come in, put best out of their primes on, the harder tyre. -

- asset of. Once he saw Sebastian passing, there was nothing more he

could do on those tyres. He comes out behind Felipe Massa in around

15 door 16th. Now we have a toss-up between the two Toro Rossos. Lewis

Hamilton is trying to split them. And Jean-Eric Vergne going

defensive but Lewis Hamilton trying to go around the outside. But he

has to work for it. Hamilton gets past the two team-mates, who might

now at try and swap positions. Brave stuff from Lewis Hamilton,

driving around the outside of a turn-up for, on to the marbles. --

of turn four. This is the replay of the Sauber pit stop. That is not

synchronised diving. And the thumbs up, I am all right. Did the we'll

not go on correctly? -- but the wheel. Jenson is close enough to

use the KERS. He is going for it, can he make the move into the first

corner? He is late on the brakes and yes, he gets through relatively

easily past Felipe Massa. Nico Rosberg has just gone into the pits

and Mark Webber as well, so we are just seeing a bit more pit lane

action. And Maldonado, a vital stop Paul Williams. It is slow. Away

goes Maldonado, but it has definitely cost them a couple of

seconds and Fernando Alonso had been catching. He comes out behind

a Lotus that is yet to stop. This is real drama, it means that when

the Fernando Alonso next makes his stop, they could be a real change.

This is the move that Jenson Button made. He goes to the outsider and

exploits the clean track. And the superior grip of those new tyres to

go around in two turn one. It looked like it would be nip and

tuck but it was fairly straightforward -- straightforward

in the end. Are they changing the nose on that car? They are, I think.

And it is a little slow coming off, unlike when Mark Webber did it.

would be interesting if Gary could get some information with what is

going on with the noses of the Red Bulls. Let's see a Fernando Alonso

comes in. He does indeed. In for his final stop. You can see the man

with the slot gap clearer, just cleaning out any rubber from this

lot gap of the front wing. It must be a much bigger problem on the

perfectly placed to win this Grand Prix. A couple of more laps, will

that be the determining factor? TEAM RADIO: We need to make it to

the end on these tyres. Raikkonen makes his way in for what should be

his last stop this afternoon. Raikkonen into the pits, he has

been passed by the other two already and he has to hope their

tyres go off big time, because he will be a long way behind them when

he comes out of the pit. Away he goes, that looks clean and

comfortable. Gary,... Hang on. Before you go to Gary, Alonso's

last lap 24 Dwyfor, Maldonado 28. Gary, your thoughts on this final

section. The last five laps are going to be an absolute nightmare

for somebody who has got to make it without a stop. Grosjean has just

stopped, and even later stop than his team-mate. -- UN. Maldonado is

the race leader. Behind him, Fernando Alonso with a Raikkonen

third. Grosjean is fourth, he has been into the pits but I think he

has come out still in fourth place. Lewis Hamilton is currently running

in seventh place and Jenson Button is in aid. Sebastian Vettel is in

ninth and Hulkenberg rounds out the top 10 -- Jenson Button is in a. --

eighth position. All of the car still running in this race. We ride

on board with Sebastian Vettel. He is in ninth. Hulkenberg quite a

long way behind. Vettel can focus on passing Jenson Button and he get

past Jenson Button in a fairly straightforward way, into turn at

10. It is Red Bull ahead of the Hamilton. We can expect that

excitement late in the Grand Prix as we see a bit of oversteer as

they run into the last section of the lap. We know Rosberg and that

Mercedes's great drive last corner, so he is under pressure from

Kobayashi, but Kobayashi is suffering from oversteer at low

speed. Let us remind you what has been going on in this Grand Prix.

Maldonado and Alonso went wheel-to- wheel into the first corner but it

was Alonso that led the initial stages of the Grand Prix. Kimi

Raikkonen and Grosjean were very much part of it. We saw an incident

involving Bruno Senna and Schumacher Schumacher crashed into

the back of the William, that took both out. We saw Charles Pic go out.

Let us watch Kobayashi. Down the signed of Rosberg. They touch.

Rosberg looked up. Can't make the move. He doesn't quite repeat the

move we saw him make on Jenson Button. He is a brave boy. Any

opportunity he gorse it. Remarkably, he gets away with just a little

kiss here, a little touch there, you know, nothing that would be

sort of needed for the stewards to look seriously at it. Another one,

he has done it. Down the inside. Rosberg powerless on the brake,

locks up the front wheel and Kobayashi now running in fifth

place, too far behind to worry Grosjean, but a good result for

these guys if they can hang in in the closing stages of the Grand

Prix. Thvingsfrpblgts is going to be exciting -- this is going to be

exciting in the closing laps. It looks faz the dream can come true.

Maldonado is opening up the gap slightly, to flown flown, and he is

closing laps -- Fernando Alonso. is. Let us see if he can make that

DRS system work. Hamilton has to go dephenomenon sieve. He goes round

the outsigh, so Vettel takes the place, nothing Hamilton could do

about that in the end. Two greats going wheel-to-wheel down the

straight and Barcelona, Mansell versus Senna in 1991, of course

Mansell went on to win that Grand Prix, neither of these guys are

going to win this one I think. The gap is down 4.4 between Alonso and

Kimi with two laps to go. Can Kimi Raikkonen snatch second place? He

finished in second last time in Bahrain, he has an opportunity here,

but can he do it? What about Maldonado? He is still in front, he

is locking so good for his first ever victory. Just remarkable

composure and here comes Vettel on Rosberg. He takes sixth place from

Rosberg. It's a late charge. That was up into turn nine, again,

Sebastian and we have seen him overtaking in places you don't

normally overtake on this track. Down in the Williams pit everybody

crossing everything, hoping that Maldonado can stay up front and

become the first ever Venezuelan to win a Grand Prix. We foe from

Australia that it is not over until he has got it to the end of the lap.

He crashed out on the last lap of the Australian Grand Prix. He is in

a different comfort zone this time. He is leading rather than chancing

the Ferrari of Alonso and Hulkenberg should not pose any

problem as they run down into turn ten, only six corners to go. What a

result this is looking to be. The Williams team taking the gamble on

bringing him in earlier for that final set of tyres. We thought they

pulled him in too early. Surely they couldn't get the tyres to last

that long, but he has, he has looked after them. He has fended

off Fernando Alonso, and now he is coming in to the closing sectors of

the race, Raikkonen is chasing down after Fernando Alonso, but Pastor

Maldonado is coming through the final turn, to make history. Past

wins in Spain, the first ever Venezuelan to do that, she the

fifth driver in the fifth car to do it this year what a start to the

season, Alonso is second, Raikkonen is third, just 0.6 of a second

behind. We expect to see Romain Grosjean come through, it is the

first Williams victory since Brazil 2004, Sir Frank here to celebrate

the moment. What an achievement from past. It is like a fairy Stowe

story. The best Hollywood script crow can imagine. Frank has his

entire family here this weekend. As crow can see the Grand Prix is

still going on, Lewis Hamilton is battling here. Rosberg is in front.

Is Hamilton going to have a go down the inside to turn ten? Rosberg has

difficulty on the brakes here. He has to defend. Remember what

happened in Bahrain when he moved so much it caused controversy. Now

he is going to have to do everything to defend from Lewis

Hamilton in the last couple of corner, but is there another chance,

the Mercedes struggling for grip. Hamilton trying to get the traction

here. Don't be surprised if Lewis has a sneaky drop. That will affect

his exit from the corner. I think it is all over, great driver from

Lewis Hamilton from 24th on the grid. Rosberg finishes 7th.

Hamilton fibbishs eighth from the back of the field. Jenson Button

will finish in ninth. Past takes victory. ON RADIO: Good job. Very

good drive.. Very good job guys. Very good job. For Pastor Maldonado

then, his first ever opportunity in Formula One to do this. He might

have done nit GP2 but there is nothing quite like this. -- done it

in. He hung on for his first win in formula one, not only that, the

first win for a Venezuelan driver in F1. Congratulations Pastor

Maldonado, and a tasty 25 points in the back pocket for him. Fernando

Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen pushing him hard for the win but nay finish

second and third with strong drives from Grosjean and Kobayashi and

Lewis Hamilton started 24th and finished eighth. This is what it

neerns the drivers championship. We have Sebastian and Fernando tied at

the front. Lewis Hamilton is third. And those points for past moves him

up to ninth place. 29 point for a man who scored just one last year.

It means Red Bull still lead in the Championship. The gap is tight to

McLaren. Lotus sit third and it will feel good for Williams. Six

vingsths place and 43 point, they are tied with Mercedes. Let us hear

from the men at the centre of the drama here in Spain. I feel so

happy, you know, we did a wonderful job this weekend. From the

qualifying, the car looks pretty strong today, very consistent, we

did a great strategy, quite good. At the same time we were

controlling the gap with Alonso, and eeverything was under control,

think today. You had a great end lap, a great pit stop and the next

one was a heart stopping moment, were you getting nervous? I was

quite worried to lose the place, but it was all OK, it didn't affect

our position. Otherwise the team, the team did great job, you know,

and I feel really happy today for them as well, for my family, for my

country, you know, it is a great moment for the team. The start was

good, then we were leading the race t second stop Williams stopped a

bit early. We had to cover, we had Marussia in front of us so we lost

a bit of time there so we decided to go a bit longer and try to

attack at the end of the race. We did attack at the end but it was

not enough and pass tr was very quick. For us, and we, the position

we finished the race, with Red Bull McLaren a bit behind, of the normal

position, second place, is like, like a win for us in terms of

points. Half way through I was pretty OK with it, suddenly then we

found the speed, and it was got too close to be happy any more. So we

needed some laps but that seems to be our problem, we have to get the

things exactly right and we can win, but for sure the car has to speed.

Everybody makes the wrong choice or maybe not. The fact is we were not

fast enough. Proud of myself and the team. We did a good job. To

come from all the way back there, we cannot complain for that, and I

had a great race it was really fantastic for me to be battling,

trying to manage the tyres at the same time. It was tough. Someone

told me I was the only one that did a two stop, which considering

everyone's talking about how aggressive my driving style is and

how much better my team-mate is on tyres than me, and I think today it

was a good demonstration that are are wrong. I am normally good at

looking after tyres and have a good consistency. But I can't do that at

the moment. I don't know why, I am struggling with the car. And you

know, it is not an overnight fix which is worrying. We don't foe why,

it is not working here, the first few races were great in terms of

race place and qualifying, but Bahrain was Ricky, and here is also

very tricky, the balance is, you know, it is not just one end, I

can't find grip and I can't use it. Disappointing day. What a wonderful

afternoon in the history of the Williams Formula One team. This

isn't how any of us wanted the day to end with fire engines in the pit

lane. After the race was over the Williams team and drivers

congregated with Frank was preparing to give evidence a pep

talk and thank them, this happened, a fire broke out in the garage,

very quickly they evacuated. We were live on the red Button

programme and quickly it became clear this was a serious fire.

was indeed. There was a lot of highly flammable materials in the

garage. You can see the teams here mucking in to support each other

and try and help. That is a mechanic from Force India that was

on one side there. Troes getting involved and this is the scenes

where extra fire ex tinge we ares were able to get in. They were able

to contain it as quickly as possible. That was a shocking way

for the team to finish the weekend. There is Bruno Senna, we saw them

removing the fuel. The fact we have Caterham and Force India and

Williams personnel injured, we hope not badly. The fact they race each

other all weekend, when they need to come together and work together

they can do This is a largely British paddock. Most of the

engineers have worked for one or two teams so it's a travelling

circus you can imagine 20 Grand Prixs they get used to be at the

airport, at the track, so it doesn't surprise me that everybody
