The Canadian Grand Prix - Highlights Formula 1

Villeneuve for the Canadian Grand Prix. This is round seven of 19 and

currently, Sebastian Vettel is topping the table. He is 21 points

you in a moment. First, here is the story of qualifying. Rain and mist

in Q1 meant chaotic conditions. As everyone came into pit and

changed tyres, a couple of big names were caught out. Romain Grosjean

could not find space on track for an opening lap, while Paul di Resta was

angry with his team after a problem meant he couldn't be on the circuit

in the right time to put in a quick run. In Q2, Felipe Massa lost

control of his Ferrari. The Q2 exit for pit lane should have been single

file, but it looked more like a motorway at rush hour. Raikkonen and

Ricciardo were both given a penalty. Jenson Button was caught out by not

getting on the circuit in enough time to put in a lap. He has to

settle for 14th. Timing was crucial in Q3. Valtteri Bottas was already

is a prize, but he put in a great lap and starts in impressive third

on his debut at this circuit. I saw after Q1 that we have some good

chances here. If you get a good lap on the track is at its best, you can

make a big difference. The team did a good job. Lewis Hamilton had been

fast all day, but he just missed out on pole position. A bit

disappointed, but it is good to be up there. Difficult conditions, but

tomorrow might be more stable. that favour you guys? I hope that

tomorrow is dry. Sebastian Vettel claimed his third pole position in

Montreal. Now he just has to convert it into his first victory here.

Today was mostly about trying to read the conditions and having a bit

of luck here and there to get the track during the best window.

Overall, pretty confident for a strong race tomorrow. So, Vettel and

Hamilton line-up in the front row of Away we go. Mark Webber makes a good

start. Valtteri Bottas is being squeezed out. He has lost a couple

of places already, but is keeping his nose clean. Webber trying to go

round the outside of Williams. aggressive drive from Mark Webber.

The pace of the Red Bull was too much. Vettel has got the lead.

Rosberg has gained a place. Here comes along so on Bottas. We know

how good he is on the opening lap. Bottas makes the most of the inside

line. Good driving from Bottas, but Fernando will come back along the

outside. Bottas fend him off on the inside. Behind, Alonso has picked up

the pace. No DRS, but he is in front already. Some contact there.

Raikkonen is a long way down in 11th place. Not great from his point of

view. Bottas is coming under pressure from the Jean-Eric Vergne

in the Toro Rosso. Behind him is Sutil in eighth place, Ricciardo in

ninth place. Then Perez, Maldonado, Massa and Button. That was a fairly

sensible getaway for everyone. Mark Webber was able to get up alongside

Bottas. In the end, Bottas sensibly backs out. What a feeling for him.

He knows Webber is sneaking up the inside and he is getting squeezed by

the Mercedes. Very mature, sensible driving from the young Finn.

decided to let Webber have the place. This is a replay of Massa,

when he was battling with Maldonado. That almost ended in tears.

contact made, but he had to back out of it. Bottas still under attack

from the Jean-Eric Vergne. The Williams has been struggling.

Raikkonen is intense, tucked in behind the Toro Rosso of Danielle

Ricciardo. Sutil in the Force India, Force India's 100th Grand Prix

event. Williams are desperate for points. Sutil spins! The rest of the

pack have to take to the grass. A complete 360, and he rejoins. Hats

off to Bottas. He did not give up the position and there was no

contact made. Sutil spun and lost the back end, and it has cost him a

bit of time, of course. Bottas survives that for the moment, but he

has dropped down to seventh place. Sutil has dropped down to 13th

position as a result of that spin. That has cost forced India dear --

it has cost Force India dear. There is contact into the back of the

Force India. That has allowed the McLaren through. That will have

affected the front wing. You can see bits of carbon flying. Sutil is

still at the front of that group in 13th place as they come through the

chicane. But things have not gone according to plan for him. Button is

now trying to get past the Force India. Sebastian Vettel still leads

this race by 4.3 seconds. He is opening up the gap. This was

Maldonado in the Williams. Bottom nipped through on the inside. That

will affect the performance of his front wing. Has it damaged anything

on the back of that Force India? Maldonado getting into trouble.

the Sutil spin? RH driving from both drivers. Hats off to Sutil for

having a go. I don't believe there was any contact. Sutil was

marginally behind. Bottas leaves him space, and in the end it was a good

comeback for Adrian Sutil after his year away from racing. Mass is

flying in this race. -- Massa. Massive visible graining on the rear

tyres of that Lotus car. Presumably, he will be a sitting duck when it

comes to the DRS zone. This was a replay of Sebastian Vettel.

Goodness, that is the race leader touching the wall! He does not need

to be doing that at the moment. He has a five and a half second lead.

Adrian, you have got some damage to the rear wing. I wonder if that was

before or after the stop. I presume that was after the hit. That was

when he almost hit the back of Perez and then came into the pit. I don't

know if that was a miss timed entry. Look at this, why come in and

Massa. Raikkonen moves to the outside of Daniel Ricciardo. He

moves up into eighth place. Some other guys have gone into the pits

as well. Look at the kind of pace that Kimi Raikkonen can do. Great

stuff. This is wheel to wheel action. Bottas is still ahead of

these guys. He is running in seventh place. That is the next card they

will be chasing. It is target plus two at the moment. Hulkenberg has a

chance to get in on the act. Now the DRS will be in operation and he may

be able to make the overtake as they had towards the chicane. He is going

to the pits. That was what I was explaining about the entry to the

pitlane. Very early first round of stops here from the cars.

Interesting to see a Ferrari with the DRS wide-open. But the Toro

Rosso had the DRS closed. Toro Rosso tend to set the car up for a high

speed with the DRS closed, so two contrasting styles. Vettel is still

our race leader. There is not much difference between doing two stops

and three stops. Webber has, in to the pits. That was why he suddenly

vanished from shops. Mark Webber making a relatively early stop, lap

14. But he should still be able to make this a two stop race. But three

stops is actually quicker on paper than a two stop race. But you then

have to overtake a two stop if he is out on track. That should not be a

problem on a track like this. McLaren has just come in as well.

That is Perez. Grosjean has been making up some ground. He is now

into 12th. Perez is in. Webber closes up to the back of Nico

Rosberg. Contrasting tyres, Webber on the prime and Rosberg on the

option. Dettol has just come into the pits. Our race leader is in.

medium compound tyre and sets off again. Alonso has also gone into the

Mark Webber is on, but different from the one that Rosberg is on. A

different strategy on the Mercedes of Rosberg and T is not able to run

plan from Mercedes? Are they trying to help Hamilton? Webber is very

close again as they come down towards the hairpin. All the

attraction of that corner, trying to be in the DRS zone. It looks

like Mike is struggling for attraction of turned 10. RADIO: Red

casing in danger zone at the moment. Rosberg is going to be careful. The

rear tyre is getting hot. It does sound a bit Holyrood, danger zone.

Into the red. At the moment he is still holding into third place.

They are waiting for Felipe Massa. Paul di Resta is gradually moving

up the order because he has not made a pit stop yet. The softer

tyre is chosen by Felipe Massa, different to Alonso's choice.

Felipe Massa comes out in 14th position. Perez his 50th. Lewis

Hamilton has not stopped. Kimi Raikkonen is one to watch. He has

not stopped. RADIO: That target is 25 more laps on this set. That is

on the medium compound for a Williams. Just under the 30 lap

mark for the medium compound tyre is what they are hoping to get.

Trying to cool the car and cool the brakes, keeping out of the

slipstream in front. It is more likely to be in issue with the

brakes. Sebastian Vettel has already made a pit stop. When

Hamilton comes back out he would still be in second position if they

stay as they are right now. Sebastian Vettel is beginning to

fly. Mark Webber is doing everything to stay out of the

slipstream of the car in front. There could be a number of cooling

issues. This will be for Hamilton. The boys are coming out into the

pit lane. Hamilton goes straight in. RADIO: We are going to be under

time. Take control. This is a different tyre from the one that

Rosberg is on, so it is a different strategy for Rosberg and Hamilton.

They are on the verge of a one stop. I did not think the Mercedes would

do a one stop with Hamilton, but he is on the verge of a one stop.

Meanwhile, Jenson Button's tyres have gone through the graining

phase. Kimi Raikkonen last time around, 21.1, which is two second

slower than the race leader Vettel. The Ferrari down the inside. He is

not quite on the Force India. He has still got DRS on this next

straight. That is a tough place to overtake. Adrian Sutil does not

want to give up. They'd just about gave each other racing worked --

room to work with. He realised that Adrain Sutil was carrying enough

speed. That will mark his car for next time around. Felipe Massa has

been flying, but he is not in the top 10. RADIO: Fuel consumption is

higher than expected. Do what you can to save fuel. That is a

nightmare to hear. He will have to go into fuel-saving mode. And he is

losing a place as a result of it. He is in and has given up on that

set of tyres. I wonder if he has done enough to make it through with

one stop. It does not necessarily mean he can get all the way to the

end on those tyres. It looked like the jack dropped. They had to lift

the car again and have another go at it. It is not going perfectly at

the moment. Felipe Massa does not quite get down on the inside. Tom,

you saw that pit stop. You are right, it came off the jack and

they had to put it up again. The guy putting on the look last we'll

was very dejected and he was the last one in the garage. They had to

have another go at it. Here comes Felipe Massa in the DRS zone once

again. Not enough straight line speed. Paul di Resta N the other

Force India has one of the highest top speeds in the race so far. He

just gives him a car's weather. I thought they make contact.

Sutil defending well, right on the limit. Well, this is Grand Prix

racing. Here comes Mark Webber. He is going to run on Rosberg. He is

in the limiter, though. But he nearly has contact. He is going to

be under pressure from a long soak. Alonso was honing in on the back of

the Red Bull. -- Alonso. A real opportunity for Fernando Alonso.

Plenty of stars enjoying the show. At the moment it is Sebastian

Vettel who leads. This is a three- way fight for third position.

mistake cost Mark Webber 1 second. Bottas is in 12th place. Jenson

Button is in 11th. Bottas has got past Jenson Button now. Jenson

Button is trying to go as far as possible on these super soft tyres.

They want to make it a one-stop race. In the battle of the UN teams,

Jules Bianchi is in 18th place. He has just been pushed down to 90

place. Jenson Button is 3.5 seconds a lap slower than the race leader.

It puts it into perspective how much time you lose. It will be a

relief to him to hear that he is coming in for tyres. That will

bring him back out behind Ricciardo at least, may be Gutierrez. Jenson

Button is hanging on. But out in Frant is Sebastian Vettel leading

by 15 seconds from Lewis Sam Oldham. -- Lewis Hamilton. This is Jenson

Button's pit stop. That was lovely. That is how it should be. It was

not for Kimi Raikkonen earlier. A stop time of 2.5, very impressive

from them. Fernando Alonso is tucked in behind. As ever, the Red

Bulls are not that fast in a straight line. It is giving

Fernando Alonso a chance to close right up on the back of the Red

Bull. It will be tricky for the Marisha to get out of the way. --

de Marussia. Alonso is in that zone, ready to pounce. He can be dangers

in that position. He needs points. Kimi Raikkonen is behind him and he

is trying to close the gap to the championship leader. From Red

Bull's point of view, the last thing they want to see his Mark

Webber allowing the Ferrari through. 15.7 seconds ahead of Hamilton,

Sebastian Vettel, that is quite impressive. One picks up a head.

And we are not even at half distance yet. TRANSLATION: The data

looks healthy for these tyres. So push. A quality drive, keep going.

Did you see how close Mark Webber was to Rosberg? I think Mark Webber

is getting hot under the collar. We see some dust being picked up on

the tyres. Rosberg may be wise to release his DRS, excuse me, his

KERS. It will only be a matter of time before something gives in his

battle with three quality drivers. Alonso trying to pick up the pieces

if he can. Paul di Resta is being told that everything is looking

good on that tyres. He is up to seventh as we continue with this

tussle up towards the top end of the circuit. They hairpin comes

next. Can Mark Webber align himself up and overtake on the DRS? Alonso

has got a whole bunch of KERS he can release now. That will allow

him to get into the slipstream of Mark Webber. Rosberg is under

pressure from Webber and Alonso. Weather finally gets in front of

the Mercedes. Here comes Alonso.I think he will hold on to that.

Rosberg has lost two places and is now end fifth position as Webber is

into third and Alonso is into 4th. I do not think it is much threat to

Sebastian Vettel up front. But how quickly can they close the gap up

to Hamilton? Mark Webber got a massive slipstream on Rosberg and

managed to keep it on the outside into the last chicane. Then Alonso

pounced. He got his DRS. Rosberg, after so many laps of defending, he

said, give me a break. Bottas is then 11th place. But Perez is

trying to get on the outside and he has done it. There is Kimi

Raikkonen. We sake he is going to the end of the race on this set of

tyres as well. Side by side, the two Finnish men. Bottas holds him

off. You do not often see cars go side by side through there.

Normally they would be waving blue flags. I am not seeing any right

now. We are getting a message now, I cannot see any out there. Kimi

Raikkonen is trying to get himself into position. DRS problems for

Hamilton. Raikkonen is getting out of the wake of Sebastian Vettel and

Death toll will now try and get past Bottas. He should be able to do that

easily -- Sebastian Vettel will try and get past Bottas. From my

commentary box, I can see part of a front wing part on the exit of the

chicane. Is that from a Ferrari? There was contact from the Red Bull,

so the wing part we can see is part of Webber's front wing. This is what

I love to see. Three different cars, four different drivers and they are

unquestionable Lee all pushing to the limit. Grosjean is in eighth

place. They are now getting to the point where they will be able to

make this on a one-stop race, starting from their medium and then

going on to the supersofts tire. Grosjean could end up getting some

decent points out of this race. There are others in the top ten. We

have Felipe Massa, Perez. We heard a radio message that told Perez from

his team, look after your tyres, you will end up racing with your

team-mate again at the end of the race. Button is down in 15th. He has

just been promoted to 14th. And Jean-Eric Vergne is still running

solidly in sixth place, which would be his best ever result if he can

hang onto it. Mark Webber is running in clean-air right now. Fernando

Alonso picking up extra time from being within the DRS zone. Red Bull

seems to have more underlying pace. Mark Webber does not have the

benefit right now of reducing that drag from opening the DRS, so

Fernando Alonso is picking up a couple of tenths of a second in that

last sector. The more I keep explaining it, the more I confuse

myself! Could you explain it to the people at home! Just a quick note -

this is a chance for Alonso, no doubt about it. He is much closer.

He is heading towards turn one. Alonso makes the move! He has gone

past Mark Webber. These two have huge respect for each other. Great

support for Alonso in the grandstands. Ferrari or always

massively supported in Canada. But can he catch Hamilton? The gap is

still some 7.8 seconds. This was through the last chicane. Mark

Webber keeps to the left. Alonso pulls out. He is just relentless.

When you see him in your mirrors, you might as well lie down, because

he will get you in the end. We are racing. Perez versus Button. But

Button is going a lot quicker on his tyres at the moment. We have seen

Alonso move up and Webber dropped back. The Ferrari is looking in good

shape, but whether it can put the pressure on Hamilton is a bit more

to ask, perhaps. Yeah, if anything, they are running at the same pace.

Could Lewis stretch it to a one-stop? I don't know why Rosberg

went with two sets of supersofts. That immediately boxes you in.

wondered whether he was almost trying to help Hamilton. By the

way, Vettel is responding. If Red Bull think Mercedes might be doing a

one-stop, Sebastian Vettel is responding. He is now setting some

very fast times. Bit slow on the getaway. Is there an issue into turn

one? Somebody is going very slowly. Has there been contact? Look at the

broken front wing on the Caterham. It was Hulkenberg in the Sauber.

other Sauber goes through. Gary, a quick word about the damage on

Webber's wing and the fact that they have not changed it? That is about

�20,000 worth, that piece. If this ends up on the track, we could have

the safety car this afternoon. van der Garde has the front wing

stuck under his car and he is dragging it all the way around the

track. Sebastian Vettel is going quickly again. 1: 16.9 on that last

lap. He is flying. He may be aware that Mercedes may be trying to go

through this race on one more stop, so he's trying to open up enough of

an to make the pitstop. This will cause a puncture in a minute. Alonso

is in from third place. Webber has just been into the pits, so I don't

think this will change anything between the Ferrari and the Red

Bull. It is all going on in different parts of the circuit.

Giedo van der Garde has stopped. That is probably the wisest thing to

do. But not the wisest place to stop. This was the Sauber and the

Caterham. Presumably there was some damage to the Sauber as well.

Suspension damage on Hulkenberg. don't think it is safe. Nico, stop.

Giedo van der Garde is having a nightmare this afternoon. He has

part the car right in an area where... That is Hamilton who has

come in. So Hamilton can't get through on one more stop. Where will

he be with regard to Alonso and Webber? They have made their stops.

Now he will be able to push to the end and try and hold on to second.

Any thoughts of challenging for the winner are out of the window. Now it

is about trying to hold on for second position. He will come out

between the two McLarens. He retains second place in this race as he

tries to put a lap on Sergio Perez. Amazingly, Paul di Resta is still

running round, not having stopped this afternoon. He will have to stop

at some point. OK to push to the end. Tyres are good. Everybody is

having a different race of it here than we have seen on other

occasions. Hamilton has 9.4 seconds advantage. Pitstop for Vettel. The

race leader is infrared all. Does this go to plan? He has never won

this race, but he is in comfortable shape at the moment. So far I had,

he has been able to make that stop and still have a healthy lead of

some 15 seconds as he rejoins. Sebastian Vettel in front, with 20

laps to go of the Canadian Grand Prix, a race that has eluded him in

the last few years is definitely going his way. He still needs

reliability from the car, but he has taken control of the race. In the

battle for the other podium places, can Hamilton retain second-place?

Webber is lapping in the low 1: 17s, so we could still be on for a

race for the podium places. We are still waiting for Di Resta to stop.

He is in seventh place. Even when he makes his stop, he will be inside

the top ten will stop his team-mate Sutil is in eighth place and

Grosjean is in 10th position. It is a very different style of race on

the tyres. Paul, we are going to leave this call to you. As soon as

you feel the tyres are shot... did not get all of that, but we got

the gist. Di Resta will get the choice. There have been a few

mistakes on strategy in qualifying, so they want to let Paul decide. We

have the benefit of no background noise. Sebastian Vettel rejoins a

bit of tarmac there. A small error from him. He committed to turning,

lost the back end, corrected and then found himself off track. He

tried to keep it off the grass and then rejoined on the tarmac. That

was a rare error from him. Alonso is closing that gap again. Hamilton is

up ahead. And we have Di Resta in the pit. At last. 57 laps on his

medium compound tyres. Let's hope the pitstop goes well for him. It

does. You have to use them at some point in the race, but if you only

want to use them once, that is fine. Metrics are under 2000. We are

getting a response from Lewis Hamilton - let me drive, man. Tom,

you had to wait a long time to see that Force India of Paul di Resta

come into the pit, but it seemed to go well. I was back in the garage.

It was a very late call will stop the guys just sat on their chairs,

goggles up on their foreheads. They did not even have time to put their

goggles down before they got the call to go out there. They were

still taking the blankets off as Paul di Resta was about 15 metres

away, so really late call. Jean-Eric Vergne has come into the pits. He

has been running round in sixth position. He will try and come out

ahead of Di Resta. That is in response to Di Resta making that

stop. All has gone through the last chicane. There will be a battle of

fresh tyres for both those guys today. Ten laps to go. Can Hamilton

hang on for second, or are Ferrari going to get a car up into second

place and reduce the damage of Sebastian Vettel beating them again?

He is very much on his way to victory in Canada, but who will get

second-place? Hamilton or Alonso, these two former team-mates. They

have a fiery relationship as team-mates at McLaren. It is years

behind them now and then seems to be respect between the two. Hamilton

has his work cut out to try and keep that Ferrari behind. This shot gives

us an idea of how quickly these cars are going. You can see the

vibration. I am sure the teams will be studying pictures like that.

Hamilton is in the DRS zone will stop this could be a real cat and

mouse game for the rest of this race. In terms of tyre wear, they

have pretty much the same. Drive-through penalty for Sutil for

ignoring blue flags. That is damaging for Force India. He will

lose places as a result of that. drop out of the top ten, I would

have thought. That was a bit silly of Adrian. He has driven so well so

far this year. There is no point ignoring blue flags. You know what

will happen. The rules are clear. You have to react. You can't even

claim you couldn't see the blue flags. You have those big boards

flashing at you. Alonso will be within the DRS activation zone. Look

at the deceleration. Contrasting driving styles. That Mercedes has

good traction off the corner. At this point, the DRS will open up.

But it will be too late for the entry to the chicane. Bit of traffic

Hamilton's tyres are a fraction younger than Alonso's. They are

trying to get the car of Maldonado moved out of the way and he does

move out of the way. Williams are sadly not likely to score any

points today. Hamilton with the pressure on. Joining us is team

principal of Mercedes, Ross Brawn. I think you are about to lose your

place. Alonso is alongside Hamilton. Hamilton is doing his at most. They

were side by side. How are you calling this one? It is really

exciting, this is why we are here this weekend racing. That is great

stuff. The DRS is so powerful in Montreal. You have got DRS in this

sector as well. Alonso has got past your man Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton

is back down to third. The Ferrari fans are happy. Is there anything

different you could have done? Did you get everything out of the tyres

you could have today? I think we got the best we could have. Let's

see what happens. Looking at the replay, this has been a different

style of race. In Monaco you controlled the pace. In this race

it seems it has been pretty much flat out. Is that true? Yes, we had

to watch it in some respects. DRS is such a factor that when somebody

gets on the back of you it is difficult. Read Paul have never won

a race in North America at all. It is such a big deal for them to win

in this part of the world and it looks as if it is going to happen

this time. He was incredible in the qualifying session. In the end we

have not had the pyre conservation issues that we have seen in other

races. I think it has been a thrilling race personality, maybe a

bit boring having Sebastian Vettel so far out front, but there have

been some great battles in the middle of the pack.

Sebastian Vettel will have a 37 point lead over Fernando Alonso a.

Mind you, Fernando Alonso had a 40 point lead and it did not go his

way. Is he able to get past Kimi Raikkonen? He will have to have a

goat. Kimi Raikkonen is getting good drive off turns 7 and 8. It is

about having a nice, clean chicane. The DRS detection point is just

coming up. We have got no yellow flags at the first turn. Sebastian

Vettel is on his final lap. Let's see how good is the top speed of

this Ferrari. Raikkonen goes to the inside and Felipe Massa goes to the

outside. There is nothing Kimi Raikkonen can do. Felipe Massa

moves into eighth place. Mark Webber suddenly has just set the

fastest lap. 1:16.1 per. But Sebastian Vettel has just set the

fastest sector of anybody. I think he has led every lap in this race

with pit stops and things. I think he has been in front of the whole

race. If he gets the fastest lap, that would be the Grand Slam of

doing everything you can at a Grand Prix. Is he going to do it? He is

going to win, there is no doubt about that. Sebastian Vettel wins

in Canada for the first time. Third time lucky in terms of pole

positions over the last few years. It is his 29th career waned. He did

not get fastest on the last lap, he backed off end the end. RADIO:

Fantastic, you wondered Canadian Grand Prix. Brilliant drive,

fantastic. Yes, thank you. That was amazing. The car was fantastic.

Yes! Celebration time in Canada and a little bit of a break comes up

after this boy these guys. A couple of weekends off before they go into

the wide, open expanses of the fast Well done, the Canadian Grand Prix

was one of the few things missing off your CV. Well done. Yes, we

were desperate to win here, and it is great to take it off the list.

Mostly because it is such a nice race. I had so many fans here and

the sun came out today which is a big surprise. All in all a great

race. I was pushing quite hard and so I was pretty close to the wall

here and there. But you never know what is going to happen later on.

We saw we could control the race and the pace from where we were,

but you do not know that when you start the race. It looked like this

morning it might be damage limitation, but it ended up pretty

well for you out there. Better than expected? Yes, to be on the podium

in second place is better than the simulation. The complicated things

a bit yesterday. Conditions were not great for us, the cold

conditions, and we did not put a lap together, so we complicated

things a little bit. Next time we need to do a better job in the

overall weekend. A Good Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This time it

was only a Good Friday and a good Sunday. First would have been nicer,

second would have been nicer, how do you feel about third? It would

have been nice to have kept second for sure it. There was a lot of

traffic which was not helpful. But Fernando was generally quicker. We

have taken a step up in the constructors' championship. We have

recovered very strongly. To go into a raise when you have not had many

runs, we have pulled something out of the basket. I hope we have a

dominant out front. Fernando Alonso had a great race and picked Lewis

Hamilton to the second spot. great battle between those two

team-mates. This is what stood out for me. No safety car like we have

seen in previous years, but a lot of very aggressive but fair racing.

There were some stunning results, Paul di Resta, Jean-Eric Vergne.

This is an opportunity for those young drivers to show themselves to

their teams. Paul di Resta after a difficult qualifying showed his

skills and his talent and he had a big smile on his face. It had been

a difficult weekend for him. A lot was expected from Bottas, but the

weather conditions were not right for Williams. That is right, he had

great form in qualifying in damp conditions. That said, the Williams

is not the car we saw on track last year and they do not have raised

pays and he worked his way backwards. How important is it for

these young riders to get these highlights? These highlights is

what is giving them the opportunity to be in Formula One. It means they

do not get overlooked when the teams are trying to see who is the
