Day Two Highlights Golf: The Masters

Are you kidding me! Yes, a miracle! He is going to take a chance.

Nice! Hello. The Augusta National, so

mesmerising but so terribly treacherous. That is what many find

on the opening day of the Masters. In kindly conditions some of the

great names struggled. Only four men broke 70 on greens that were

described as like patting down a marble staircase. But Bill Haas was

unfazed. Family roots run deep here at Augusta. And just behind him Adam

Scott, the defending champion, a picture of poise and composure. He

was in excellent company at 3-under alongside Bubba Watson. Jonas Blixt

is the top European in the group whilst Rory McIlroy and Stephen

Gallacher where the best place of the challengers. Marc Leishman

played a big part last year and he bagged the early headlines on day

two. This was a lovely effort. And he slotted in his second birdie of

the day. And his run continued at the 3rd. Making it three in a row.

He went 5-under, into the lead. Bill Haas had company. This is the of

things now. Bubba Watson still have not dropped a shot. Louis Oosthuizen

has given to back however and has had one birdie so far. Kevin Stadler

also making progress. And Stephen Gallacher level having dropped a

shot. So we can enjoy the remainder of the second now. First to Stephen

Gallacher on the 12th tee. That is a delightful shot. One of

the best we have seen. A swirling breeze getting weaker and quicker.

Over to the fifth. Marc Leishman for par.

Beautifully judged. And he moved to a couple under. Anybody finishing

under-par today will be right in the hunt. Gallagher now. Can he convert.

Gallacher. Yes, a birdie at the 12th. Matt Kuchar now, lost in the

play-off earlier. That flirted with the bunker. Almost came back on

itself. The third shot for Kevin Stadler. All the way across the

green. That is nice. Matt Kuchar just going to quickly brush his

birdie chance in. A nice little three for him. Over to the difficult

seventh. Bubba Watson for birdie. Yes! 4-under par. Straight up the

hill from this angle at the 2nd. 3-under. Jonas Blixt. The two-time

Masters champion Olazabal. He just loves those wedges. What a great

shot. Sergio Garcia. And a scarce birdie for him. Moves to 3-over par.

Difficult to read it the cut. Gallacher at the 3rd team. Badly

misjudged. That will be all you can handle there. On the very front

right of number five and Apple would slope. -- awkward slope. 73

yesterday but dropped stroke at the 3rd. Just 2-over. Jose-Maria for the

birdie. No problem, well done. Even par.

This is the situation on the second day. Bubba Watson, parity with Bill

Haas who has yet to go out. Jonas Blixt is unafraid, this fellow. Just

to third major that he has ever contested. Stephen Gallacher going

steadily. Good angle to putt. Jonas Blixt.

Nice birdie at the 2nd. And a birdie at the 3rd. A tidy way to start his

round. Here at the 5th Lee Westwood. Almost an impossible part

for him. This is a brand-new hole location here, never been used. Oh,

my goodness! A miracle. Fantastic. There you go. That will put a smile

on his face. It was almost impossible! Just had to topple over

at the right spot. If you had 100 balls you could not do that. Huge

tee shot for the Oosthuizen. And he has made the most of it. That was an

albatross. Second shot at the 5th for Kevin Stadler. Mice backstop

behind the flag. -- nice. And he is going to use it. This should

feedback nicely. Just a tap in. Oh, my goodness. Easy birdie for Kevin

Stadler that will get him to 4-under. The 10th and Sandy Lyle at

plus five. A couple of neat tidy round. May just make the cut. An

eagle chance for Louis Oosthuizen, down the slope. This to move to

4-under par. A lovely tee shot.

Tremendous form from Louis Oosthuizen bear. That Majestic

Eagle. And the last time he played all four rounds in a major was in

2012. It has been that long since we saw him featuring in these great

Championships. Gallacher. Second shot at the 5th

team. -- 15th. A chance for eagle. Billy Horschel, chipping down the

full length of the green. My goodness! He goes back to 2-over.

That will put a smile on his face. From a trip East not at the 8th,

third shot for Justin Rose. Totally blind shot right there. I bet he did

not see it go in, he can only go by the reaction. Amazing how the par

fives played such a big part in this tournament. Well done, Justin. He

can claw his way back. From an Englishman to the Scotsman. Surely

it is not going to wander back. He thinks it is. He has left himself

slaughter there. That was for an eagle. A little longer than it

looks. The Ryder Cup captain at the 2nd. Tom Watson for birdie. How do

you do! The ageless Tom Watson. What a golf swing. What a player. Bjorn

to move to a couple under. This for birdie. Birdie number six on his

card. He moves to 2-under par. The great Dane. Lovely day here at

Augusta. Colourful crowd, good golf. A little bit of breeze. This just

needs a bit of attention. It revelled in quite firmly. Moving

along nicely. Now Thomas Bjorn 176 yards from the hole. Has he hit it

hard enough? Just. That might swing round a little bit more. It is

trying to do its best. Craig Stadler. And what a part this is. He

had to flirt with the edge and his flirting has ended badly.

Oosthuizen, 15th. A nudge from the back of the green.

Up she goes. Softly, softly, come to me... No, no, please don't. Oh. No.

It can't. It won't, it shouldn't. It mustn't. Goodbye Dolly, I must leave

you! Oh it is a bitter game, this golf.

Everyone thinks it is so charming, boring and pedestrian, it ain't.

What a shot! Darren Clarke, slim line Darren Clarke, a par here and

he might, a great shot, might sneak in for the weekend. Will that go

back? It will. It will. It will get better and better and he will have a

very short birdie putt to come. Beautifully done. Oot, battling away

at the 15th. Have another go, son. I don't think he is getting any

closer. A rueful smile. Thomas Bjorn for his two. Left below right.

Putting grip, in she goes. Pinch of the nose and Bjorn to 3underer.

Seventh green. Stadler putted from the other side, off the green, but

it really doesn't matter. I was always going to get down in two

putts, what is the matter with you? Don't you understand, this is

positional play. A par, what a par. Stay Stays

4-under. Poor old Louis, go I along so well, this to drop one shot on

the 15th. -- going.

See the wind is blowing out there. It that has got to go. Got to go.

Shocker upon shocker for Louis Oosthuizen.

Darren Clarke. Slim Jim Clark. For a birdie. And in she goes. Well done,

4-over for two rounds. Should be OK. Still he struggles. See what he can

do with this one, for double-bogey now.

So close a couple of years ago. To winning this, and look that the

go. -- look at that go. It is all going

wrong here. Does not compute. 18th. Gallacher. For a par. In she

goes. 1-under. Well done, first effort, 71, 72, well played. Very

well played. Uncle will be pleased!

This for a snow man. It is a good putt to hole for an eight, but slips

from 4-under, back to 1--under par. He is quiet, modest and he is

apparently unfazed by Augusta, revelling in it all is Stephen

Gallacher, after a round of 72 today, he is still in red numbers

and very much in this tournament. Let us hear from him. How How

satisfying is it to follow one a 72? I am delighted to be in the red. It

was a tough day, a bit up and down for me today but I was glad I played

nicely at the end. Can you tell us what conditions are like out there

and what might be the key point of danger? The winds are picking up a

bit and the greens are firming up. Noticed that yesterday, the back

nine greens firm up with the heat and the wind. It gets tricky to get

to the back flag, you know, the wind swirls a bit as well down the bottom

half. You have to be careful all the time. Being in the position you are

now, what sort of position do you think you are set up for the

weekend? Yeah, well I am obviously here and play my same game plan and

see what happens for Sunday. All the best of luck. Thank you. Thank you

Bubba to convert after that wonderful shot. A few catkins being

blown down from the tree, we can see them. Falling down. In she goes, one

for the magic twos competition and the crowd far away applaud Bubba to

4-under. One of golf's favourites Fred

Couples. Languid long swing, flips it up. Looks good.

And by golly it does you good. Chance for a birdie.

Freddie is on the move. Beware! Freddie in his 30th master, this

young man started out. That is Matthew Fitzpatrick in the dark blue

in the group with the defending champion Adam Scot. They are in the

penultimate group. Matthew at 4-over. Adam Scott seven shots

better off at 3-under. 13th hole. Bubba Watson second shot,

ball below his feet. Huge drive. Thumps a middlish to

long iron, with this very small target. A mere... I think he is on

another planet. Bubba. He is playing out of his boots.

Chance for an eagle-3. Fabulous stuff.

1992 champion. Oh, a put to make you nervous but it doesn't worry Fred

Couples. Moves to three. 54 now Fred Couples. Born is a three

time runner-up in Major Championships. Look at this. A bogey

at the 17th and he picks the shot back up again at the 18th. This his

tenth Master, that equals the best round of the week so far, excellent

68. Let us hear how it was crafted. Thomas, eight birdies today, with

what was the key to playing so well? Good positioning more than anything.

You know, obviously I had a lot of good shots but I got myself in great

position, especially on the par-5s to take advantage of them and that

was a good key to the round, but I felt I had pretty good control, I

hit a lot of fairways and greens and never really took on anything silly

out there, so it was, it was a good day's work. Happy with the way I

have been playing, so two more days. Bubba Watson at the 13th. Wonderful.

This for an eagle. This so go to 6-under. Will it? Oh,

no. Only 5-under but he is stride Yak I from the masses, creeping up

behind. -- he is straying away from the

masses. -- he is striding away from the

masses. Enormous hitter, creative player, a curve on his shots.

So his third birdie of day. Moves him to 5--under par and he leads.

Justin Rose at the 12th. He struggled yesterday, but he is keep

things going very well indeed. That is a good one.

Lee Westwood adventurous with his approach. Very close to the water,

but this is quite an inviting putt. Virtually straight up the hill. Not

many birdie disturbance at 11. Be firm.

Whenever you put a 4 on your card at 11, you keep walking.

Watson at the 14th now. It is getting closer. No, it

couldn't. Oh, that is silly. That is a great effort.

An awkward shot for Mickelson. Ooh. He skinned it. Never seen him do

that before. That is at the 12th and front bun kerbs he has played two to

there, he is in danger of missing the cut.

That is the situation, Bubba Watson having played 14 holes, leads. Kevin

Stadler, KJ Choi, Bill Haas, the names we have seen round for a bit,

but, a few big boys well down the list and some won't be here for the

weekend. Rory McIlroy has not yet started his

round. Phil Mickelson with a back... . No, he has gone from one side to

the other, I have never seen anything like it. The 64 degree

wedge, and I don't know will the club bounced. The sand sounded hard.

Here is Bubba. 15th, third shot. If it just keeps... Perfect.

Perfect. Perfect if you like six footers. Justin Rose playing with

Mickelson, Mickelson has played out of the bunker and Rosie makes a two.

Good come back, very nicely, steady, 76 yesterday. Tiptoeing back in to

the thick of things. 3-over. Mickelson for a double-bogey at the

dreaded 12th. Well, it's a rare sight. 7-over for

the tournament Jason Day on the 16th. A slight misclub. Par-3.

Anybody fancy, and this is looking good. Oh, hold your head up. Lovely.

A lovely place to hole a accident length putt. The crowd cheers and it

echoes among the pine trees. Come on Ozzy.

Bubba taps in for his birdie. Goes to 7-under. Striding away with it.

Two rounds to go. Oliver Goss. Well done. 76

yesterday. 71 today. 1--under par. Looking likely to make the cut.

Fitzpatrick is probably the only challenge to him taking the Meddle

this week. If he can make the cut, we will see.

Bubba on the 16th tee. 7-under par.

He is right at it now, now that could be very good, probably swing

away to the left. It starts to move right. No, it won't. Not a bad shot

though but the crowd are going bananas, they are leaping in the

air. He thinks it is a one. Problems for Stadler. There is four shot at

number 11. Played it pretty well, but he will

have that to drop the one stroke. Catches so many players out this

treacherous long par-4. Bubba with this little putt, but they are all

so tricky. Pace and line. There is hardly any grip on the

greens as well. He has rolled it dead centre. Well done Bubba.

8-under he goes. Eight birdies in a row. Making a mockery. Stadler.

Double bogey. Goes to 2-under in a hard former winner Mike Weir at the

8th. Goes to 2-under par. Kevin Stadler at the 12th. There is a rise

in the crowd. Not bad. And outside chance of a two today. Mike we are

again at the mind this time. Up the hill. This needs a good whack to get

it up there. Hello, hello! Too sweet birdies in a row. He goes to 3-under

par. Where is the difficult course we saw yesterday? The flattest green

on the course and not the easiest to read. And he read it. 11 and 12 the

hardest holes on the course. 3-under. Bubba at the 18th. No, he

has knocked it left. 7-under par for Bubba. And he sets the target. 15

ties. Those with 147 are in no matter what happens. Well played.

Rory McIlroy, 231 yards. Where is that of two? It has gone the other

way. -- off to. He has gone way left there. A couple of marvellous shots

from Jimmy Walker. Looks like a birdie at number eight. I think Rory

McIlroy is going back to the tee. So the troubles continue for Rory

McIlroy. But Bubba Watson has had a wondrous day. Those five birdies in

a row. He was on fire. But a little blemish at the end. But that is a

heck of a lead for Bubba Watson. Beautiful played today. How well do

you think you did. I thought I did pretty good. In these conditions,

the wind is picking up. I made some key parts and played pretty solidly.

All in all it was better than yesterday even though I did not hit

as well as yesterday. So many highlights. You thought you were in

earlier. When I saw the crowd standing up I thought it might have

been the one. And here he is back on the tee playing his third shot. And

a different club. Gone to the island. -- the iron. That was so

close but the trouble continues. A birdie chance for Mickelson at the

17th. Around 4-under par, hard to tell. This is a horrible but,

straight down the face of the mountain at the 5th. Just too far to

the left. Three strokes going so far for Adam Scott. To level par. This

is going to be a tough day at the office with this breeze changing

direction, picking up, dropping down. McIlroy force now at this

par-3. -- fourth. Lovely shot from McIlroy. Damage limitation. Justin

Rose up the hill at the 18th. His second. And this is the beauty. Goes

back up the drain pipe. Very nice, Justin. It has been unpleasant on

the fourth for Rory McIlroy. Double bogey it is. 1-over. Justin Rose.

Birdie chance. Second shot. Well past the hole that fed back down to

this point. Well holed. That is a scrappy round. In a pretty good

first two days for the US open champion. Phil Mickelson here at the

final hole and this for a par-4. This is a tricky one. This might get

him in for the weekend's play. Must get it. Well done. Now it is the

long, lonely wait of about four hours to see whether he has made it.

Lee Westwood, one of Europe was my favourite sons. Still very much in

the hunt. Second to the final hole. Good shot. Getting better all the

time. If it just keeps that pace going and slips backwards. Go on. It

has stuck. The reigning US open champion Justin Rose battle because

yesterday and last battle. But he appears to have won it today. A

glorious eagle at the 8th. He will be here for the weekend. Well done.

How hard did you have to scrap today. Really for the last two days

if I'm honest. Especially after yesterday I was around 6-over par at

one stage. I came back on feeling positive and that was the key. I

feel I got off to a steady start today and believed I could play a

good round. I made some silly mistakes but everyone is doing that

and you have to try to stay positive when that happens.

Justin Rose cells all the right things. -- says. Rory McIlroy at the

5th with a much-needed birdie. Stadler. To go 2-under. Well done.

At that of a mixed bag there. That will help the cause. Jonas Blixt

from behind the green. How brave will he be. This looks well judged.

Could it? Oh, my! Lee Westwood for a birdie at the 18th. Getting back to

level par. Stay there! Yes! Perfect speed, well done. It stays. And he

is well in the hunt. John Senden at the 14th. 2-under.

Looks good and it is good. 3-under. For Gerald Lee Westwood, 71 today.

The highlight was that ridiculous putt at the 5th. Snaking its way in.

He looked slightly sheepish afterwards but I'm sure he feels

confident after that performance today.

How well did you play today. The golf course was tricky. There was a

strong breeze and it is drying out all the time. I had to be patient.

So it is a good score. Would you mind taking us through the fifth. I

left myself with the horror of all horrors. It was like being in jail.

I just tried to get it to stop on top of the hill. You need a bit of

fortune. Right in the middle, that is one of those bonuses. You look

like making five and you walk of three and you are back in the

tournament. Well done and good luck for the tournament. Thank you. Jamie

Donaldson at the 8th. For a birdie? Yes, well done. 1-under par. Stay

with it. Bill Haas at the 9th. Made a mess of that, dropped a shot.

John Senden holding out. One of those quiet sort of players. Just

sort of tiptoes along. 4-under. Donaldson here, an awkward spot on

the pine needles. Good contact. Flag right at the back of the green and

he has done beautifully well. It could go back. What a lovely result.

Give it a smack of the pine needles and up she goes. They will be

singing in the valleys tonight! They're all chasing Bubba. John

Senden won in Florida just a few weeks ago. He is closest to him now

at 4-under. That Scandinavian challenge is marked. And Jamie

Donaldson making real headway with a magnificent approached to the ninth.

KJ Choi has slipped back a little bit. Adam Scott still level. Not

much happening today for the defending champion. And Rory McIlroy

has also lost a bit of ground. Justin Rose at 2-over. And Sandy

Lyle and Darren Clarke will be in. Jason Day will also make it. And

Graeme McDowell. Fred Couples for a par. Not a good

shot. Jamie Donaldson after that terrific

recovery and takes him out in 33 blows. Exceptionally good on that

nine holes today. The two par-5s birdie, 2-under.

Bill Haas at the 10th for a par. Two holes played. Two shots dropped.

Poulter has enough of an angle to make it reasonably viable.

Slid the club under it, it sort of grabbed a couple of times. He will

have that for a birdie-4. Jordan Spieth for his four. Gets it, just.

Back-to-back birdies for Jordan Spieth. Moves to two-under par.

Freddie. Chance to get to 3-under.

In the middle. And his faithful fan fans. Getting that one back that he

lost in the 12th. After a poor shot Bill Haas's third.

He had to pitch outside ways. That is to be expected. A whole cut

on the back left corner of green today, and nobody can get it back

close to that flag stick. Jimi walker on the 13th hit a

terrific tee shot, massive drive and a beautiful second to hear.

Eagle putt slides by. Routine birdie now for Jimmy Walker and he

continues his good play. Three wins already.

This year. Can Bill Haas convert for bogey? Oh

no. Well, one little mistake here at Augusta National and you pay the

heavy price. A double-bogey. Drov drops him back to even par.

John Senden here now, he has a good look at what he sees, he cannot see

the hole or the bottom of the flag. He has to get this over that bunker.

It is a nice little backstop behind the hole, which is to husband left.

If he can get this to swing off that, that is what he is trying to

do. I don't know if this is going to

work out or not. Oh, yes, come on, get going. Miss that ball. You have

to mark that ball. Oh. Well, that is just Cray tiff genius right there,

the ability to have that imagination, and see that before you

try to execute. Well done. -- creative.

Mike Greer has gone straight at this. Not sure that made the bunker,

I think we may see some ripples. John Senden with this icy down hill

putt. That is perfectly done with confidence. John Senden.

Finishing 4-under par. Outright second. Almost coming out of

nowhere. Tee-to-green, he is a really good player, on the green,

ale suspect. So Mike Weir was in the water. Third

shot at the 16th. A fairly ugly tee shot.

But, get back now. That has gone far enough up it might

be very very good. That has gone too far, just too far,

it could have been a spectacular par.

That to drop just one shot. Good recovery.

Well now, McIlroy has just about got a stance at this. Horrible second

shot. Very difficult to get that close,

and... Double-bogey on the fourth, looking at double here.

Here is how it look t man from Florida out? Front. Then an Aussie

and Scandinavian challenge. No Scandinavian man has won a major

championship. Could it be Bjorn or Blixt? Fred Couples still giving as

good as gets and Jimmy Walker after three wins in that group, on 3-under

par as well. Nice up slope for McIlroy. He will

need a bit of zip. A bit of grip there.

And keep going, oh... Left himself a real snorter there.

7-iron for Poulter. Friendly back left pin position.

Up-and-up. Come up. Keep coming. Keep coming.

Down you go now. Ian Poulter. Ah, just wasn't high enough up the slope

but it is a nailed on two. Glorious tee shot. Thank you very much. Rory,

big moment for him, a slider and he is overborrowed it. He has missed

it. Out of nowhere. Six. Just a slight misjudgment, his second shot

in the breeze. A hard bounce off the green and a six. Double-bogey and a

double-bogey at ten. 2-over, still right in it. Making life tricky.

This is an awkward bunker shot. This young man might help him.

Coming out of it. Quick. Oh. That is the way to rouse the crowd. Well

done Duffy. Fantastic. He has brought a smile to his face, you

don't see that often! Well done! Back to 10-over.

If you are going to play a good shot, this is a great spot to do it.

Double-bogey yesterday in the water, Adam Scott, pinned today over that

front bunker. 157 yards. Oh, what a shot.

Five yesterday, it should be a two today.

Jamie Donaldson to save his par on the 13th.

One gets away. So back to 1-under par.

I don't know where Webb has to go. He maybe up the slope. See if he can

run it back down Tiger Woods-style. Ooh, it is not a bad line, he

couldn't, could he? Good effort. You wouldn't be doing that at the

weekend at your club! Scott, Adam Scott. Much-needed

birdie. Well done. Lovely two for Adam Scott.

Back in to the red. Par-5s to come. He can reach those easily.

Rory McIlroy. The 11th for par. Oh.

Starting to get away a little bit. The scoring holes are coming up

though. Disgusted.

Now Fred Couples. Terrible tee shot here on 17th. Up into the Greenside

bunker. Yeah. This makes it look so easy.

Settle down. And once again it trickles on.

Rory McIlroy at 12. He needs to stop the bleeding.

Oh, yes. Oh, boy! It is a game of degrees and

inches. Couples at 17th. For a par.

Oh bad luck, Sir. Shot gone. Poor tee shot.

Cost him a shot. Big putt for McIlroy. He is

desperate to desperately needs something to happen and it is not.

Bill Haas, playing up here at the 15th. Hitting his third 15-over par

to this point. -- 5-over par to this point. Will

it? Oh, Billy, what an effort! McIlroy at the 13th. Second shot, a

massive drive. He has to put in a stout finish here. Certainly has got

to birdie or eagle. Goodness gracious, that pitched on the

sprinkler head or something, the game has gone on him, that is

unlucky, pitched on the down slope or a sprinkler head, you saw the way

that took off. He has ended up here. If you look hard you will see titch

Marsh round there somewhere! -- Titchmarsh. That was desperately

unlucky for McIlroy. Not sure what his second shot landed on, whether

it was a down slope, the back of the green or the sprinkler head but it

rocketed up into the flowers. This par-513th. He is desperately in

need of a bit of assistance from somebody.

The golfing gods are not being kind at the moment.

It is the best he could do and it is no push over to get down to two from

there. Let us see if Fred Couples can pay

off that second shot. Oh... He has just played too much break. A

disappointing miss. Round round for Fred Couples, three-way tie for

fifth at the moment. -- a nice round for Fred Coupleses.

Well, can McIlroy pull off something magical? It is turning the left.

Look at the speed it is picking up. I didn't think that was going to

reach and now he is 18 feet past. So let us see what Jimmy walker

does, we saw John Senden go beyond the flag and roll it all the way

back, that is way Jimmy Walker is going as well. The crowd think he

has overshot that, but no, the seasoned watchers will know, down

she comes. Gather a bit of pace. Suddenly they

say "Ah, he is not so foolish after all." It should be a par. Tricky

putt left, though. McIlroy after that horrendous break

on 13 for par. Oh, well... There is not a whole lot

you can do. The second hot was always long but to hit the sprinkler

head was a bit severe. -- second shot. Jamie Donaldson just

a bit of sunlight still on the green. 7-iron.

Feed it round. Come back, settle down, yes. Looks good.

Just got to be past the hole. A beautiful tee shot from Jamie

Donaldson. That will move him back to two-under par. Very nice indeed.

The shadows lengthening at the tail end of the second day of the 78

playing and it is the Mag from Florida, Bubba Watson with the

three-shot lead from John Senden and that two way tie in third place.

Jamie Donaldson still out there, still doing well. Jim Furyk going

all the way over to the left of the tee here at the 16th. Nice angle.

Lovely shot from Jim Furyk. Getting better. To the 15th. United States

amateur champion, Matthew Fitzpatrick. For birdie. Oh, yes!

Very nice. Adam Scott for a birdie at the 16th. That is a good one! He

he will go into the weekend for behind the champion of two years

leading amateur. But great effort and he has enjoyed it.

I'm guessing you were pretty pleased with that because it looks tough out

there, Jamie. Yes. Yesterday was flat calm and today we had quite a

lot of swirling wind. It was difficult in holes like 11 and 12.

But I'm happy with the way I have scored. I did not play as well as I

would like but I scored well which is the important thing.

went backwards and then came roaring back in the second half of his

round. He is still very much in the hunt as he tries to become only the

fourth man to successfully defend the Masters title.

That was some fight back on the back nine. Are you proud of your

performance today. I am pleased with it. I do not know that I'm that

proud. But it is important when you get off to a rough start to just

stay calm. I knew I was playing well but did not hit many good shots on

the front line and moved backwards a little bit. There's always something

good can happen on the back nine if you fit good shots. I hit enough

good ones to keep myself in the red numbers.

This to make the cut for Rory McIlroy. Sometimes it can be on the

high side. But not this time. Well done indeed. A funny looking card he

has had. But he is here for the weekend. On plus four. Here to fight

young hope of American golf and he lives up to his billing. A couple of

birdies and one bogey on the way out. He has certainly bested Rory

McIlroy. The last four years, Rory McIlroy is my challenge has been

undone with a round of 77 or worse. And another one today this time on

the second day. However we are delighted that he will be here at

the weekend. Can you put your finger on why today seemed to be a struggle

for you. It was a mix of everything. Off the tee it was good and then

going into the greens I missed a couple of shots on the wrong side

which made its difficult. I got a couple of really bad brakes on four

and on that team. And then I could not get up at to drop. -- A putt.

But I'm still playing at the weekend and will try to finish as low as I

can tomorrow. So something for everyone there. Bubba Watson at the

top followed by John Senden. Fred Couples doing it for the over 50s.

And Scott and a Welshman keeping the home hope alive their as well. Bob

Kissinger has been lapping it up. What were your impressions of them

today. He is just this guy who has got a flare for the game. He is a

role talent, incredible around the greens. But an amazing amount of

power and he just loves Augusta. If he drives it in the fairway he is

going to be tough. He has a patient attitude. He will be hard to beat.

He was the big success story. But there is another story, and this in

itself would be a heck of a leaderboard. Quite an interest. And

it is a shame to see these guys having to go. It is a hard game and

Augusta can get the better of even some of the best players. Phil

Mickelson missing the cut for the first time in many years. Those

gentlemen will not be with us for the weekend. What can we expect on

Saturday at the Masters. Expect the unexpected from them. Just admire

his flair for the game and the fact that he just plays where the seat of

his pants. I expect the contrast between him and Johnson to be pretty

glaring. Johnson more polished and an accurate player. Someone could

easily come out of the pack. If Bubba slips it could be anyone but

my game. It sure is. And we will be going to live coverage of the third
