Day 3 - Part 1 Golf: Women's British Open

Hereon Merseyside, we are trying to prolong the great British Summer of

Sport into the autumn. A few of the players in the 2012 Women's British

Open have donned the red white and blue to mark what has been a great

few months for Great Britain. That is the Queen. Many had entered into

the spread. -- into the spirit. We have the bunting out in the studio

of the UK golfers in this big field can continue the tradition of

sporting success in what is the last golfing Major of the year.

but I am confident. I do not know. You must have a lot of confidence

so long I have been tied down to gymnastics. I have a snowboarding

lesson. I have done some wing walking. I have tried ice-skating,

and now it is golf. Wing walking! That is not something on my bucket

list. It is all the things you could not have conceived of doing.

My coach would have killed me if I had come back into the gym on a

Monday morning with a broken ankle. If I had said I had decided to win

walk, she would have killed me! Golf is in Rio in four years' time.

Helen Glover took up rowing with only four years ago. Maybe I could

go for 2020! You have been out watching the golf with your dad.

What do you make of these women? is brilliant. I have always known

about the British Open and this is a very local course for myself. It

is great to come down here and see some of the world's top players. To

with us. Sophie Gustafson has a lot of work to do. She won the event in

2000. Katrina Matthew won it in 2009. Emily Taylor, one of the 10

amateurs I was referring to. We're getting towards the bottom of the

field now. Laura Davies had to withdraw from the competition after

12 holes today because of a recurrence of ankle ligament damage

which he sustained playing five-a- side football, but that is Laura
