Welcome to the show. Plenty coming up tonight, including: From prisoner | :00:15. | :00:25.
to mentor, Leyton Orient defender on seizing his second chance. | :00:26. | :00:30.
I got arrested and realised how serious it was. I thought well, | :00:31. | :00:36.
could be, this could be the end of the road there. Fair play to | :00:37. | :00:39.
Brighton, financially speaking that is. How the Seagulls are coping with | :00:40. | :00:44.
financial fair play. In this window it's been difficult, | :00:45. | :00:48.
more difficult because of financial fair play, we can't afford to get | :00:49. | :00:57.
any doles wrong. Rock`and`roll, Wycombe's Steich on his | :00:58. | :01:04.
international debut with Gibraltar. And a look back at the day the Dons | :01:05. | :01:10.
of Wimbledon truly arrived. ? With me is a man who used to play in | :01:11. | :01:19.
defence Chris Perry. Now it was an awful day for your former club in | :01:20. | :01:23.
the FA Cup quarter finals. Are you concerned for them now? It was | :01:24. | :01:26.
disappointing yesterday. I'm concerned, their league position | :01:27. | :01:29.
isn't great. They have games in hand. Their destiny is in their | :01:30. | :01:35.
hands. Back memories seeing this man by your side? This is how close he | :01:36. | :01:40.
used to mark me. Pulling me down and giving away fouls. I wasn't clean. | :01:41. | :01:45.
Said that you were dirty. You've said, "I wasn't clean." At least | :01:46. | :01:48.
he's honest. Late ton orient right back Omazusi | :01:49. | :01:55.
has played a key role in their promotion push this season. Two | :01:56. | :01:58.
years ago he appeared to have thrown all his talents away after being | :01:59. | :02:01.
sent to prison. Since his release he's been working to ensure local | :02:02. | :02:06.
youngsters don't repeat his mistakes. He's been telling Richard | :02:07. | :02:11.
Adams about how he's turned his life around, after losing his job and | :02:12. | :02:17.
freedom. It was surreal really. I was looking | :02:18. | :02:21.
around thinking, I'm going to wake up soon. This can't be happening. It | :02:22. | :02:25.
was tough for him. I think this was a real wake`up call. It focussed me | :02:26. | :02:31.
and sent me down to earth with a bump. In 2011 Elliott Omazusi was | :02:32. | :02:38.
sentenced to two`and`a`half years in prison for witness intimidation. He | :02:39. | :02:43.
was sacked by his club and served 16 months. The day I got arrested, I | :02:44. | :02:50.
realised how serious it was. I thought, this could be the end of | :02:51. | :02:54.
the road here. What was it like when you first, you got sentence and you | :02:55. | :03:01.
first went to prison? It was surreal really, looking around thinking, I'm | :03:02. | :03:06.
going to wake up soon. This can't be happening. My family and friends | :03:07. | :03:11.
were good. They just said keep your head down, keep as fit as you can. I | :03:12. | :03:16.
ended up getting a job in the gym, which was good. I kept myself in | :03:17. | :03:20.
pretty good condition. The assistant manager went to see him. He was very | :03:21. | :03:27.
quiet, but reflective as well. I knew that this is definitely not | :03:28. | :03:33.
some place, this ain't the place for me, that definitely ain't the life I | :03:34. | :03:38.
want to lead. Time in prison had a profound impact and gave him a sense | :03:39. | :03:42.
of responsibility. It was this change in Elliott that encouraged | :03:43. | :03:47.
his former club to resign him. It seems to have evolved him into a | :03:48. | :03:52.
better person. He will do anything for you. He's always upbeat, always | :03:53. | :03:56.
a smile on his face now. It shows in his football as well. His football | :03:57. | :04:02.
has come on leaps and bounds. I have a story to tell and I want to make a | :04:03. | :04:08.
difference and help a lot of people. We've been doing a lot of work in | :04:09. | :04:12.
the estate`based works in schools, youth club things like that. I'll be | :04:13. | :04:18.
real. As soon as the judge said "guilty", bang that was my lesson | :04:19. | :04:23.
learned. That's all I needed. I didn't need the 16 months in jail. I | :04:24. | :04:28.
knew straight away, but I messed up. Do you get what I'm saying? He's not | :04:29. | :04:32.
in there feeling as if he's pressed into doing it. He wants to do it. He | :04:33. | :04:37.
talks about the mistakes he made and he just doesn't want other people to | :04:38. | :04:41.
make those mistakes. What kind of things do you try to get across to | :04:42. | :04:45.
the people you speak to? Just a bit about my personal experiences, both | :04:46. | :04:51.
a footballer and going to prison and things like that and growing up in | :04:52. | :04:57.
the place that I did. A lot of them can relate to that. Just coming from | :04:58. | :05:00.
someone who's seen it, been there, done it and come through the other | :05:01. | :05:04.
side. What do you personally get out of it? Ah, it helps me massively. It | :05:05. | :05:12.
helps me to focus, stay humble. It's definitely stuff that I like to do a | :05:13. | :05:17.
lot more of and continue to do in the future. Elliott's proven that | :05:18. | :05:21.
you can be mixing with possibly the wrong crowd and come out the back of | :05:22. | :05:26.
it and really pb a positive character to the younger lads. His | :05:27. | :05:34.
work has led Elliott to be nominated for the PFA player in the community | :05:35. | :05:38.
award. The event takes place on Sunday. What was it like first | :05:39. | :05:41.
stepping back onto the pitch and playing football again? It was | :05:42. | :05:46.
unbelievable. I'll never forget coming back onto the pitch and | :05:47. | :05:49.
second chance, a lot of people don't get first chances let alone a second | :05:50. | :05:53.
chance. I intend to take it with both hands. Do you think it has | :05:54. | :05:56.
improved you as a player, the overall experience? Yeah, | :05:57. | :06:00.
a person. It's the overall a person. It's the overall | :06:01. | :06:04.
experience, it's definitely got me to where I want to do, what I want | :06:05. | :06:08.
to be and the kind of example I want to set for others. | :06:09. | :06:15.
There's no escaping the fact that it was an extremely serious case that | :06:16. | :06:19.
Elliott was involved in. How impressed have you been with his | :06:20. | :06:23.
reaction? First acknowledgement that he did wrong. He got punished. He | :06:24. | :06:27.
served that. He's come out`and`out of something bad has come something | :06:28. | :06:30.
good. He's going back into the community and warning the youngsters | :06:31. | :06:34.
of the perils of getting involved with gangs etc. Fair play to him. On | :06:35. | :06:39.
the positive side, his form has been excellent this season. He's possibly | :06:40. | :06:42.
been their player of the season so far. It's a real turn around for him | :06:43. | :06:46.
and the club. Chris, you've worked as a youth team coach, latterly at | :06:47. | :06:51.
Dagenham and reg bridge, what can clubs do, if anything, to avoid | :06:52. | :06:54.
players getting into that situation in the first place? Clubs use a | :06:55. | :07:00.
holistic approach nowadays. When the boys come in from the age of nine, | :07:01. | :07:03.
they try to educate them not only on the football side of things, but on | :07:04. | :07:06.
their whole life and make sure that the boys come out of it, whether | :07:07. | :07:10.
they're released at 16 or 18 at rounded human beings. Last week, we | :07:11. | :07:15.
gave Leyton Orient the big build up about how many goals they scored and | :07:16. | :07:21.
the highest scorers in Europe. That provoked the first goalless draw | :07:22. | :07:23.
this evening. the highest scorers in Europe. That | :07:24. | :07:26.
provoked the first goalless draw The second one here, he hits the ball `` | :07:27. | :07:35.
bar, that's unlucky. And Campbell`Rice missing a chance. For | :07:36. | :07:39.
the leading goal scorers, the fiven in Europe `` fifth in Europe, | :07:40. | :07:41.
playing the bottom team, you expected them to win. That's why we | :07:42. | :07:44.
love football because you don't know what's going to happen next. For | :07:45. | :07:49.
Brentford, a better day for them. A goalless draw at Carlisle recently | :07:50. | :07:53.
and that heavy defeint at home it Wolves. How important was it that | :07:54. | :07:58.
they got back on track. Donald's son's 50th for the club. And Savile | :07:59. | :08:05.
on loan for `` from Chelsea. It's not the prettiest goal. But they all | :08:06. | :08:10.
count. Brentford have been on a great run. They have lost one in 14 | :08:11. | :08:15.
games to Wolves. It's not unexpected. It's a minor blip. They | :08:16. | :08:18.
have got back to winning ways, which is important in their push for | :08:19. | :08:23.
promotion. There's no such thing as an ugly goal. A goal's a goal. | :08:24. | :08:28.
Absolutely. Looking at the top of it, it's tight. Who will go up? | :08:29. | :08:33.
Wolves are doing fantastic. Leyton and Brentful are in the mix. | :08:34. | :08:38.
That top six might stay as it is, but if you have games in hand you | :08:39. | :08:44.
fancy your chances. I'm hoping one of our two go automatic. I think | :08:45. | :08:49.
Wolves are nailed on. Wolves will win it. Brentford will end up second | :08:50. | :08:53.
with orient in the play`offs. You hope that all three would go up, | :08:54. | :08:58.
ultimately. It doesn't always work like that. Of course, Wolves. No! | :08:59. | :09:03.
Just because they're the best club. Last week QPR nowed that they lost | :09:04. | :09:11.
?65 million in the last financial year. Clubs losing ?8 million will | :09:12. | :09:17.
face penalties under the fair play rules. We've been finding out how | :09:18. | :09:22.
clubs will go about it. Traditionally played out on a | :09:23. | :09:27.
Saturday afternoon, football now has a critical financial game being | :09:28. | :09:34.
played in the background. QPR have announced a loss of ?65 | :09:35. | :09:41.
million. Clubs losing more than ?8 million this season will be subject | :09:42. | :09:46.
to sanctions... They face fines totalling tens of millions... | :09:47. | :09:52.
Financial fair play, limiting club's losses to make the game more | :09:53. | :09:56.
sustainable. Last season, brighton lost 14. .7 million, like other | :09:57. | :10:02.
championship clubs, they're working hard to reduce that or face | :10:03. | :10:06.
punishment by the Football League. This is one of our executive boxes. | :10:07. | :10:09.
We have more than 20 of these across the stadium. They are used on match | :10:10. | :10:13.
day for entertaining and non`match day for other events. They're | :10:14. | :10:16.
important revenue generators for the club. We're forever trying to drive | :10:17. | :10:23.
income. We want people to come to the stadium and feel part of the | :10:24. | :10:26.
experience. The more that we can get people here earlier, have them here | :10:27. | :10:30.
later, the more chance of building those revenues and creating a | :10:31. | :10:33.
sustainable club for the future. It's not easy. It's not any easier | :10:34. | :10:37.
now that financial fair play is here. The pressure is on | :10:38. | :10:43.
championship clubs. This season, the first that their finances have come | :10:44. | :10:49.
under the spotlight. A club can only make a ?3 million loss, that's the | :10:50. | :10:55.
basics. An additional ?5 million loss can be made if an owner decides | :10:56. | :11:00.
to put equity in the club, which makes ?8 million total figure. Any | :11:01. | :11:05.
punishment would come as an unwelcome Christmas present, with | :11:06. | :11:08.
sanctions due around December this year. The figures can be confusing. | :11:09. | :11:13.
Could they be overcomplicating our enjoyment of football? What can you | :11:14. | :11:17.
tell me about financial fair play, do you understand it? Not | :11:18. | :11:22.
completely. I know the club are trying hard to stick to the rules. | :11:23. | :11:26.
We understand the general idea of it. We don't understand how it's | :11:27. | :11:30.
actually going to work. It's a pain, because we just want to buy, buy, | :11:31. | :11:35.
buy here so we can get up, up, up. The majority of a club's spending is | :11:36. | :11:39.
on wages and transfers. So preparing for match day has become more | :11:40. | :11:46.
complicated too. We've been lucky to get Lingard on loan from Manchester | :11:47. | :11:50.
United. We beat off competition from five clubs to do that. We're looking | :11:51. | :11:53.
forward to seeing him perform in this part of the season. How dish | :11:54. | :11:58.
has it been doing that under the regulations than before? This is a | :11:59. | :12:02.
Man's World window it's been more difficult because of financial fair | :12:03. | :12:05.
play. We can't afford to get any of the deals wrong. Every penny has to | :12:06. | :12:09.
counts on the field otherwise we could miss the target off the field. | :12:10. | :12:13.
Off the field, the goal posts could be set to move. The number of | :12:14. | :12:19.
unnamed clubs at the moment are suggesting that the sanctions may be | :12:20. | :12:24.
too harsh, that there aren't enough acceptable loss that's are | :12:25. | :12:27.
permitted. The interesting question will now come ` what will the | :12:28. | :12:32.
Football League do and can changes occur? How would you feel if any of | :12:33. | :12:38.
these rules were to change now? We'd be very disappointed. 21 out of 24 | :12:39. | :12:44.
clubs voted in favour of the rules. Most of us are working hard to | :12:45. | :12:47.
comply. Any change would be very unfair on those clubs that have | :12:48. | :12:51.
worked hard to make sure they stay within the rules. Football's always | :12:52. | :12:56.
been a numbers game. But the off the field numbers are getting ever more | :12:57. | :13:01.
important. So Brighton sticking to FFP, some of | :13:02. | :13:06.
the other clubs are considering a legal challenge. Amongst those clubs | :13:07. | :13:11.
are Queens Park Rangers. As we mentioned, they loss 65. .4 million | :13:12. | :13:17.
in the year up until May 2013. They have to reduce those losses down to | :13:18. | :13:24.
?8 million. Proposed sanctions are if a club goes up to the Premier | :13:25. | :13:28.
League, they'll be hit with fines on a sliding scale. A ?40 million loss | :13:29. | :13:34.
would result in a fine of 28. 7 million. If the club stays? The | :13:35. | :13:41.
champion `` if the club stays in the championship, there will be a | :13:42. | :13:44.
transfer embargo until the following January. | :13:45. | :13:50.
Harsh. It's scary stuff. QPR owner has said directly to the fans, don't | :13:51. | :13:54.
worry, don't lose sleep over it. But will the fans worry, should they? If | :13:55. | :13:59.
he says that, maybe they won't. QPR are trying to stay in the Premier | :14:00. | :14:03.
League last year, upped their wage bill by ?17 million to ?68 million | :14:04. | :14:07.
just to try and stay in and they got relegated. They had a higher wage | :14:08. | :14:15.
bill than Borussia Dortmund. They're Champions League finalists. They | :14:16. | :14:19.
spent big to stay in. The punishments are heavy. The pressure | :14:20. | :14:24.
is on them to stay up or go straight back up. There's so much money in | :14:25. | :14:27.
the football world now. Do you think these rules are positive, that | :14:28. | :14:31.
they're trying to reduce the amount of losses? I do, yeah. It's | :14:32. | :14:36.
important that the clubs at the bottom of the table have got a | :14:37. | :14:39.
chance to compete with these clubs like QPR, who have the massive | :14:40. | :14:43.
backing, the millionaires come into the clubs who are theo`o clubs who | :14:44. | :14:49.
go up `` yo`yo clubs who go up from the championship to the Premier | :14:50. | :14:54.
League. The Barnsleys struggle everiory. The more even we can make | :14:55. | :15:00.
the playing field, the better. We heard from Paul of Brighton, these | :15:01. | :15:03.
new rules are concentrating the minds of chief executives. Is that a | :15:04. | :15:07.
good thing? Yeah, of course. What we don't want is people going in trying | :15:08. | :15:14.
to save the club year in, year out, going into administration. It can be | :15:15. | :15:18.
a positive thing. Brighton host QPR on Tuesday night. Let's remind | :15:19. | :15:22.
ourselves how they and Millwall fared on Saturday in our round up. | :15:23. | :15:33.
QPR's finances might be under scrutiny at the minute, but the fans | :15:34. | :15:39.
who travelled to St Andrews got their money's worth. That thanks to | :15:40. | :15:45.
the first goals in hay QPR shirt from Morrison. He opened with a | :15:46. | :15:49.
curling free kick early in the first half. Clint Hill hoped to extend the | :15:50. | :15:54.
lead before the break, but saw his header bounce off the wood work. The | :15:55. | :16:00.
first win in six was sealed when Morrison had the chance to claim | :16:01. | :16:02.
goal number two. I spoke to Lee Clark before I signed | :16:03. | :16:08.
him. Lee said to me, he's the best chal `` talent. I think he did some | :16:09. | :16:15.
things today, people close to him and tackles and goals, just a | :16:16. | :16:20.
fantastic footballer. As we've been hearing, there's plenty of hard work | :16:21. | :16:26.
currently happening off the pitch at the Amex and plenty on it too as the | :16:27. | :16:30.
seagulls try to remain in play`off contention. Reading gave them a | :16:31. | :16:36.
helping hand, or head, he was no doubt hoping to turn it back to his | :16:37. | :16:41.
keeper. Not surprisingly the head coach says his skipper's sending off | :16:42. | :16:48.
was a game changer. Greer was booked for bringing down a player in the | :16:49. | :16:56.
first half. The second yellow was for a late challenge. Minutes later | :16:57. | :17:02.
they were back into the game. This is his first goal for the Royals. | :17:03. | :17:05.
Both teams had chances to win it. Buckly came close in stoppage time. | :17:06. | :17:10.
A point apiece means Reading move back into the play`off places. ( | :17:11. | :17:24.
aware they were the underdogs. Millwall were on a run of just one | :17:25. | :17:28.
win and six points from their last ten league matches. The game was | :17:29. | :17:34.
surely only going to end one way. Not if David Forde had anything to | :17:35. | :17:38.
do with it. The keeper blocking an early effort from Salmond. He saved | :17:39. | :17:46.
a low shot from Dawkins. After the hour mark, the Lions pounced. With | :17:47. | :17:54.
Derby desperately pushing for an equaliser, Morrison had a chance to | :17:55. | :17:57.
extend the lead late on. Their second away win of the season means | :17:58. | :18:01.
Millwall are above the relegation zone, but it came at a cost. | :18:02. | :18:06.
There are plenty of injuries to assess ahead of Tuesday's trip to | :18:07. | :18:10.
Blackpool. Very big relief for Millwall. We're | :18:11. | :18:16.
taking credit for it, because we think we might have inspired them a | :18:17. | :18:23.
little bit. Allen Dunne said, "The feeling when you wake up on Sunday | :18:24. | :18:27.
morning with three points and the sun shining puts a smile on your | :18:28. | :18:31.
face. Similar to this." You can tweet us: if you're a | :18:32. | :18:38.
Millwall fan and you feel the need to watch that goal again, we're on | :18:39. | :18:44.
the iPlayer all week, as are the other regional versions of Late Kick | :18:45. | :18:47.
Off. You can watch around the country. So, as we heard from Emma | :18:48. | :18:53.
Jones that Ole will be going back to Blackpool on Tuesday night. Charlton | :18:54. | :18:57.
at home it Huddersfield on Wednesday. Then they meet on | :18:58. | :19:01.
Saturday, which is a pretty huge game. I'm going to Leyton Orient | :19:02. | :19:07.
first versus Brentford and then on a bike an going to watch a promotion | :19:08. | :19:15.
battle hopefully, it's so so important. Fear for most? As | :19:16. | :19:21.
Charlton have so many games in hand. It's always a struggle. You look at | :19:22. | :19:27.
the bottom there and games rained off etc, in the FA Cup and you have | :19:28. | :19:33.
to win those games. Players would have the points, if you asked them. | :19:34. | :19:37.
Charlton have been on a great cup run, but it's cost them. They now | :19:38. | :19:41.
have four games in hand, but they're four points away from safety. What | :19:42. | :19:45.
psychological effect could that have on the players? I think it's | :19:46. | :19:50.
difficult. When you're in the FA Cup and winning games, it breeds a lot | :19:51. | :19:53.
of confidence. They've had a couple of good results off the back of | :19:54. | :19:56.
that. Now the disappointment of going out in the quarter final. It | :19:57. | :20:01.
will be difficult to lift themselves again. They need three points and | :20:02. | :20:04.
they need to win all their games in hand. The Millwall game on Saturday | :20:05. | :20:10.
will be a massive six pointer. It's the back`to`back games. That's what | :20:11. | :20:15.
you have to do. If you can win two games in a row, everyone will be | :20:16. | :20:24.
lifteded. `` lifted. Now, when euro 2016 qualifying begins in September, | :20:25. | :20:27.
a new name will be amongst the teams taking part. Last week, Gibraltar | :20:28. | :20:33.
staged its first home matches since UEFA granted full member status. For | :20:34. | :20:39.
the players it's a chance to take to the international stage. | :20:40. | :21:08.
My uncles live here, my cousins liver here. The lads are welcoming. | :21:09. | :21:20.
They're brilliant. If there's ever a conversation in their language, they | :21:21. | :21:25.
tend to translate for you. Even if you're not listening, somebody will | :21:26. | :21:30.
say oh, we were talking about this. They're very courteous. | :21:31. | :21:38.
British`based players don't speak the language. | :21:39. | :21:42.
The lad over there in the white T`shirt, he says he's the best | :21:43. | :21:50.
player Gibraltar has ever produced. He's now the fattest player they've | :21:51. | :21:55.
ever produced. It's a big game, the first game at home on home soil for | :21:56. | :21:59.
Gibraltar since they've been recognised by UEFA. | :22:00. | :22:14.
It's a rude awakening today to realise that there's a lot of work | :22:15. | :22:15.
to be done. We have one of the giants of Europe, | :22:16. | :22:29.
Germany. Special matches with Scotland and Ireland. I think | :22:30. | :22:33.
Gibraltar was over the moon about it. The coach is just like Britain, | :22:34. | :22:39.
it's just exactly like England. I just think there's a lot more | :22:40. | :22:45.
relaxed atmosphere. You've got that recognition that you | :22:46. | :22:49.
are an international footballer that you're playing against teams that | :22:50. | :22:53.
are going to be playing in the European Championships, teams | :22:54. | :22:55.
playing in the World Cup. Just enjoying it while it lasts. You | :22:56. | :23:01.
never know when your career could be cut short. | :23:02. | :23:04.
Defeat for Gibraltar against the pharaoh and Estonia. Is that a good | :23:05. | :23:08.
thing for a League Two player to be playing that level of international | :23:09. | :23:13.
football? He can get something out of it. It raises his profile of | :23:14. | :23:16.
playing international football. I don't think I would have wanted to | :23:17. | :23:20.
go to a team that was going to be beaten every time they turn up, but | :23:21. | :23:24.
international football is international football. It's big on | :23:25. | :23:30.
his CV. For Wycombe, a good win at the weekend. They had to come from | :23:31. | :23:39.
behind. Then Dean Morgan and McClure turn it around for them. A couple of | :23:40. | :23:44.
weeks ago they looked in trouble. Six unbeaten and seven points clear | :23:45. | :23:49.
of relegation makes it a lot better, easier reading for the players when | :23:50. | :23:54.
they pick up the paper. The only way is up from here. Chris used to play | :23:55. | :24:00.
with Ainsworth. Is he managerial material? Not at the time! He used | :24:01. | :24:05.
to play in a band. He was always a bit different to most other | :24:06. | :24:09.
footballers really. He's done extremely well since he's gone | :24:10. | :24:13.
there. Good to see Morgan grabbing goals. Played with Dean, he's got a | :24:14. | :24:19.
lot of talent. We wish Gareth and the team all the very best. Let's | :24:20. | :24:23.
get the other goals from our teams in leagues one and two. | :24:24. | :24:34.
Gillingham boss Peter Taylor said his side had played better in their | :24:35. | :24:40.
previous three matches and come away with nothing. Jon Gregory felt his | :24:41. | :24:44.
team could have and should have won. Crawley did have their chances. | :24:45. | :24:51.
Walsh hit the post. The goal`scoring opportunities included this from | :24:52. | :24:54.
McDonald. With just two minutes left to play, | :24:55. | :24:59.
the home side claimed the victory. Charlie Lee making it two goals in | :25:00. | :25:02.
two games. The win moves Gillingham six points | :25:03. | :25:15.
clear aat the bottom four. Dagenham were denoid a win late on, after | :25:16. | :25:20.
battle their way back into the match. Nicholls gave them the lead. | :25:21. | :25:29.
After the hour mark, Norris curled in a fine equaliser. The Daggers | :25:30. | :25:37.
wept ahead. A foul on Brian Saa and they scored from the penalty spot. | :25:38. | :25:44.
In the 95th minute, Richards' shot was fumbled by the keeper and rolled | :25:45. | :25:51.
just over the line. The players now have to pick | :25:52. | :25:55.
themselves up quickly for a trip to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. | :25:56. | :26:03.
Neil Ardley warned his players there is no room for complacency as | :26:04. | :26:09.
competition for places hots up. Wimbledon were unbeaten in two | :26:10. | :26:12.
games. Their opponents were aiming fire fourth win in six. The Dons | :26:13. | :26:20.
went close before Michael Coulson heed York into the lead. Appeals for | :26:21. | :26:26.
a penalty were waved away. And then a missed open goal. Next up: | :26:27. | :26:31.
Chesterfield. Chris, you were a Wimbledon fan | :26:32. | :26:34.
growing up. Do you follow their fortunes? I do, very closely. I | :26:35. | :26:39.
still have family who go to the games, a lot of friends at the club. | :26:40. | :26:44.
What about Dagenham, your former club. A howler amongst howlers for | :26:45. | :26:46.
the keeper. club. A howler amongst howlers for | :26:47. | :26:51.
That was unlike Chris. The mistakes he usually makes is coming for | :26:52. | :26:54.
crosses. It was such a disappointing way to end the game really. They did | :26:55. | :27:01.
really well to take the lead 2`1. Question for you on Twitter. What | :27:02. | :27:08.
was your best moment as a Charlton player? Probably scoring an | :27:09. | :27:13.
equaliser against Man City at home. I didn't score many goals. It was, | :27:14. | :27:19.
David James was the England keeper at the time. We were 2`1 down. I | :27:20. | :27:25.
ended up passing the ball with my left foot and carried into the box, | :27:26. | :27:31.
inexplicably for me. It was the only goal I scored with my left foot. I | :27:32. | :27:36.
was proud of it. Would you consider coming back to work at Wimbledon? | :27:37. | :27:40.
You're in the market for work at the moment. I am in the mark. Of I would | :27:41. | :27:45.
definitely considering going back to Wimbledon. If a job became available | :27:46. | :27:51.
that suited me, definitely. You have that tastive double header this | :27:52. | :27:59.
weekend. Yeah, Leyton Orient versus Brentford. Then Millwall against | :28:00. | :28:02.
Charlton, also crucial in the championship. | :28:03. | :28:06.
I wish all those teams all the best. I hope you get a great atmosphere as | :28:07. | :28:10.
well. Thank you Mark and Chris. Lovely to have you in the studio | :28:11. | :28:14.
with us. Tonight, we leave you with a memorable day in the history of | :28:15. | :28:17.
one of Chris's former clubs, Wimbledon. Their first ever Football | :28:18. | :28:21.
League fixture at homes to Halifax in August 1977. A special occasion | :28:22. | :28:25.
for everyone connected with the club, including a man who was a key | :28:26. | :28:31.
figure in London football, the late Ron Rodes. Good night. | :28:32. | :28:35.
Before the game was due to start, the crowds began to arrive. I spoke | :28:36. | :28:40.
to Wimbledon's chairman. We are very excited. I think the whole club is. | :28:41. | :28:44.
Probably apprehensive. Maybe we need a result on the first game. That may | :28:45. | :28:50.
be important today. Before today the club had sold 5,000 programs and | :28:51. | :28:58.
thousands more went today. I'd rather come here than go to Fulham. | :28:59. | :29:00. |
