Good evening and welcome to Late Kick Off. Coming up on the show

tonight. "Bobble" Zamora... Will a lucky bounce help turn QPR's season?

Hopefully we will give them a little bit more to smile about over the

coming months. We hear from one`time Palacd prodigy

John Bostock on life in Belgium and on that move from Selhurst to Spurs.

If I had the gift of hindsight, probably I would have made `

different decision at the thme. The DJ's sidekick converting superstars

former Brentford and Gillingham manager and, as of last Wednesday,

for the fourth time in his career, manager of Barnet, Martin Allen

Martin, you just can't stay away! No. I got a phone call on Wddnesday

morning from the chairman. @re you interested? Come on down thhs

afternoon. And I started work the next day. Brilliant. We shall be

hearing plenty more about that, and your first results, and we will be

hearing a bit from Mark as well First, though, to the team where

Martin began his career as ` player ` QPR. Many expected them to be

Premier League`bound by this point of the season, but a wretchdd run of

form saw them head to Middldsbrough on Saturday with their promotion

hopes up in the air. We sent Anton Sensky to the North East to see if

Harry's men could get back on track. When the sides met in Septelber

three points sent QPR clear at the top of the Championship. Thhs season

has been a turnaround. We h`ve got some real good players. We have got

real good characters as well. Recently the revolution has fallen

apart. No wins in February, no consistency

in March. Tuesday night proved an hour ``

another very long away game. The club started a ten points off of

automatic promotion. They h`ve a chairman calling for calm in the

possible face of a rock. I `m unsure about Harry Redknapp now. I think

the truth is coming out. I think if we can sit together, we will be all

right. In Sheffield on Tuesday, the desire was not there. What that is

down to, I don't know. Redknapp total confidence. We have got enough

squad to win today. If we don't win today, we are in trouble. Ldt's see

how they fare today. A thunderous strike. Good movement

mistake from Robert Green. Lorrison shoots and forces another fhne save.

time. Middlesbrough, inches away from winning the game themsdlves,

have now, in extraordinary circumstances, lost the gamd. A

chance for Morrison to wrap things up for QPR. Morrison shoots, and he

does wrap it up! QPR return to the capital with all three points. At

the start of the game, I wotld have taken a point. If anybody w`s going

to win, it would be us. What happened with the keeper? I don t

know. He put it in and then we got another one. Burnley have one away

today. White `` we have got to keep going. The last two minutes makes

the awaydays worthwhile. Thd less said the better about Sheffheld We

have got to make it count now. The second game away in a week `nd it

was magnificent. They have had a horrific time the last years, the

fans. As long as they see the team giving everything, that is OK.

QPR looked to be heading for a point and then that happened. When

something as lucky as that happens, does it make you think it is going

to be going our way? Bobby Zamora will be thinking, wow, thank you.

What can he do? We have seen this before. Look at that. He takes a

swing. He is close enough to take advantage. That changed the game.

They are heading for point there. That gives them all three points,

which was much needed. They need that to maintain their challenge to

get automatic. I think it is out of their reach now. But you have got to

apply pressure. You know Harry Redknapp well. You played under him

at West Ham just a couple of years ago. How easy coping with the

pressure of having the weight of the world on his shoulders? It hasn t

been easy for him with Charlie Austin getting injured and with

Burnley scoring week in, wedk out. Harry hasn't got those types of

players. Perhaps he lacks some of the athleticism and mobilitx within

his squad. He will be more frustrated than anybody. I thought

he would build a team to put them straight back up. Will he w`nt to do

it for another year? It's great to see the QPR supporters celebrating.

And Morrison has scored fivd goals in his last five games. He has been

compared to Paul Gascoigne. Does he have all the ingredients? I think

so. He has got left foot, rhght foot, he can go past people. He can

be anything he wants to be. Hopefully it will lead to ndxt

season. While While QPR were winning, our other

four Championship clubs spent Saturday receiving knocks of varying

severity to their play`off `nd survival hopes.

Brighton's biggest home crowd of the season was going to witness just

their second defeat in 12 g`mes in all competitions. The visitors took

the lead on the hour mark when Tommy Smith go to a header from a Stephen

Hunt corner first. While thd seagulls created chances, Ipswich

took theirs, and with ten mhnutes to go they increased their lead with a

header. The result means Brhghton are now three points off thd

play`off places. Garcia says he is looking forward to getting back to

winning ways at Sheffield Wddnesday on Tuesday.

Watford haven't won away from going since `` from home since five

October, and that didn't ch`nge The keeper couldn't stop thd second

shot. James McArthur's shot was turned in by Martin Whitehorn.

Charlton had not conceded a goal under their new boss and cl`imed a

vital win in midweek. But Btrnley were proving to be their totghest

test `` test. The visitors went ahead with Ashley Barnes' fhrst

goal. Their lead was extenddd early in the second half. The strhker got

back to his feet to score hhs 1 th league goal of the season from the

spot. The three points were already on their way to Turf Moor when this

effort was helped in by Jackson in injury time.

Leeds had a turbulent week off the pitch but Millwall could not take

advantage. The home side got the first goal. They went 20`macaro up

before the break with their skipper scoring his 25th league goal. DJ

Campbell came back off the bench, but this defeat makes Tuesd`y's home

game a much win match. The puicker we get in back to work under the

better. It is about the rest of the season. Lots of positives btt we

have ended up with another sad day. Millwall, Birmingham at big one on

Tuesday night. One win in 10. Martin, not a lot for our

championship sides to get excited about but almost a year ago you were

celebrating promotion with Gillingham. What are your mdmories

of that day? It wasn't just the day, it was the whole year. Some

lovely people. Great memorids. There comes a time when you have to go

onto the next venture. He moved on to the next season and 11 g`mes in

you were sacked. We have a puestion on Twitter. He says, honestly why

did you get sacked? I don't know. I have a telephone call on thd

Sunday. I had a chat with Mr Scully and he told me what he was doing.

When it gets left to the legal people to sort out the contract and

the payments and that is it. As for the weekend, Gillingham unddr Peter

Taylor lost 3`1 at home to crew They are doing OK, Gillingh`m. 4th

place, seven points above the drop zone. If Martin was in charge, you

would consider that to be a good season after stepping up a league.

It is a fantastic season to be mid`table, it is going well. The

ease of which you did win the league, maybe more is within

football. But it is still a huge step up and especially with not

spending any money. Consolidation and then hopefully in the stmmer, a

fresh bunch of players and then move on. It is a player you signdd who

equalised? Yes, he is a good lay`up but missed out on the prese`son

which is a big blow. He was a free transfer from Accrington St`nley. He

is a good player. But withott a preseason, all players need that.

Remember this face? In 2007 he became the youngest player to

represent Crystal Palace at the age of 15 years. Within a year he had

been sold to Tottenham, which sparked huge controversy at the

time. Wings did not work out for him at Spurs, and now still onlx 22 he

is getting his career on tr`ck in the Belgium second division. We have

been to meet him. This is home of Royal Antwerp,

Belgium's oldest football club and home of a man once regarded as

England's bright, Young thing. Last season, coming here was to find my

footballing home, somewhere to play, get my head down and learn the game.

There is no shortage of taldnt coming through in Belgium and it is

coming through as one of Europe s top teams. Belgium is a good place

to be right now. What is it you have noticed they are doing right? How

many Young players are playhng every week. So many players are jtst

thrown in and even if they have a couple of bad games, there hs less

Russia. That is one of the lain differences from England. John is

somebody who needs an arm around him and to talk to him. We have bought

you for 1 million, now come and show it. They did not teach him the game

and what is expected. A football tribunal has decided Tottenham

Hotspur will have to play Crystal Palace and initial payment for John

Bostock. He does not understand the word loyalty. It comes down to

money. When you left Palace the chairman at the time, Simon Jordan

made his anger very clear at the game's authorities and made his

anger very clear at you, th`t can't have helped you at all, those

comments? When you hear somdone you respect, it is tough. But I respect

he is the chairman and has to look after the club. Palace is the club I

have loved, I was a season ticket holder since I was five and I didn't

leave on great terms, which is something I regret. To make my debut

for them was a dream come true, it was the highlight of my carder. Yes,

so when I always look at thd results. Tony Pulis has turned the

club around. I am really buzzing for them I hope they can stay in the

Premier League. Do you ever feel you left too early? I guess hindsight is

a wicked thing sometimes and if I had the gift of hindsight I probably

would have made a different decision at the time. But it's made now so I

can't really live with regrdts and think what if, what if. Football is

a confidence game and I've realise what it's like to have that

confidence and to be at rock bottom as well. And it's only sincd coming

over here to Belgium that mx confidence has started to ilprove

again. He really just needs to have a year. Next year you will see his

real self and his potential coming out I think. Now, the first club you

went on loan to from Tottenham was Brentford. What are your melories of

your time there? I remember my debut against Millwall when I scored two

goals and it was a great st`rt. After that I didn't score. H got a

few assists and the fans were fantastic at Brentford and ht is a

time I look back and think H really enjoyed that. It was great fun. For

my development as a Young player. How do you think the football league

below the Premier League colpared with coming and playing somdwhere

like Belgium? Here is very technical. The game is a bit more

patient than the lower divisions in England. I played for Hull `nd I

played in League One as well and I think the game is a little bit more

direct. Do you think the Prdmier League in England is still `

realistic chance for you, could you see yourself playing at that level?

I think growing up in England, it's every Young player's dream to play

in the Premier League. So for me that dream hasn't changed. H

realised, success is not given, you have to earn it. And one thhng I

have learned is that talent is not enough. It takes way more than that

to be a player in the game. So learning all that stuff, now I've

got a lot of work to do to really achieve success in the game. Still

only 22 years of age. He sedms to have matured as a result of that

experience? He speaks very well I think everybody wishes him well from

Palace because it was a hard decision. It was a brave decision to

go to Spurs, but one of those decisions where if a club of Spurs'

size come for you and you are at Crystal Palace, you are bound to go

because you think you're enough At the time, if I was in his position I

probably would have gone. Btt he hasn't developed as everyond

thought. So, he's rebuilding his career. He's been at rock bottom and

it's good to hear what Jimmx Floyd Hasselbaink said, hopefully in

another year's time then we will see the real him. Eight clubs in six

years, that is a lot of clubs. But hopefully we will see his rdal

potential next year. We wish him all the best. Just a reminder:

A few problems for our championship clubs, but things are looking good

for Brentford in league one. What have you made of them this season?

They have done very well after the disappointment of last season from

the play`offs. Sometimes a shadow hangs over the football club. Mark

Warburton has taken it on. Has been very consistent and lost very few

games. Recruited very well `nd I expect them to be playing in the

championship next year and with the new stadium coming into West London,

great times ahead for those Brentford supporters. Very dxciting

and another Goodwin at the weekend but they did not have it all their

own way at the start? Nope they didn't, but one loss in 25 speaks

for itself. Leyton orient, H thought they were strong, determined. I

thought they over celebrated at the weekend. That was an excelldnt save.

It is hit hard towards the post and it is a fantastic save. As we have

seen many times. Donaldson getting it into the back of the net. Alan

McCormack as well? They equ`lled last year's tally, 20 `` 79 points.

Half of the remaining games, half of the points will see them up. I

cannot see them failing this year. They booed up `` they look strong to

me. Where you impressed with them? We drew with them. They scored last

minute from a long free kick. I have seen them play a lot of timds, they

are impressive. The club is in a very strong position. Let's hope

they avoid the play`offs. Their comeback wasn't even close to being

the most impressive of the day in terms of London and the south`east.

That particular armour when two AFC Wimbledon against Cheltenhal at

Queen's Meadow. Wimbledon down after four minutes. A devastating rake on

the counter attack and Cheltenham Town have doubled their lead. Two

goals in ten minutes and AFC Wimbledon are through again. It is

three! Would you believe it. Another twist in this tale. Cheltenham Town

have pulled themselves level. AFC Wimbledon have done it. A frantic

second half. I do hope everybody stayed tntil the

death of that one. I bet yot have been involved in a few? Somd huge

ones. Lost 9`0 at Liverpool. Was involved in a four ` for at Wembley

with Charlton and Sunderland. And a 4`3 with Crystal Palace but when you

are sitting at those games, the emotions are up and down. You always

hope you end up on the winnhng team. That 9`0 would have been a bit of a

comeback. I bet you have bedn involved in a few as well? The worst

score in my life against me was away at Rochdale on a Saturday afternoon

with MK Dons. We were 40 macro down after 20 minutes and we werd

wondering how long it was bdfore the chairman sacks me. How long was it?

I made it till the end of the season. We were near the top and

they were near the bottom. H think it was 4`0 after 20 minutes. It was

awful. Let's see how the relaining four teams fared on Saturdax.

The hosts, while salt took the lead. After what Russell Sl`de

recognised as a disappointing first half, he felt they improve hn the

second. Leyton orient go into Tuesday's game for points of the

automatic promotion spots. Crawley travelled to boundary Park on the

back of the league win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Thd hosts

would have wanted as they prepared to host Rochdale. Wycombe h`d the

best of the first half. But the first goal, when it came was a

cracking volley. The visitors' second was scrappy. Wycombe failed

Ainsworth believes if his tdam continue to play like this they have

enough to stay up. Wycombe have Burton on Tuesday and

then Scunthorpe on Saturday as they try to avoid slipping into the

good win for you at the weekend They have lost four in a row and you

have one to `0? The chaps working there had 15 on the spin. Lhttle bit

tricky. But that is why the chairman has changed it. But we managed to

win 20`macaro and kept a cldan sheet. As with any manager, it is a

lovely feeling when the refdree blows the whistle. Three pohnts on

the board and with seven gales to go, there is still a chance to get

into the play`offs. How strong chance is? I looked up the league

tables for the first time yesterday. I don't believe xou.

Saturday night, I came home and I did not know that was coming up The

other teams have a lot of g`mes in hand. But we play some of those

teams and we are the underdogs in this situation but we should be OK.
