Reading are back on course for the Championship play`offs, but can

Bournemouth catch them? This man catches people for a living ` we

profile the footballer turndd police detective.

In the studio with Ady and this week former Portsmouth, Tottenhal,

Bournemouth and England star, Darren Anderton. We'll start tonight with

the race for the Premier Le`gue It's a three`horse race in this

region with Bournemouth turning into this season's surprise pack`ge.

They're level with Brighton but both are five points behind Readhng who,

despite an indifferent run, now have a five`point advantage in 6th.

Tomorrow, the Royals go to Bournemouth. So what will m`ke the

difference? Who could be a latch winner and what's up there that

could determine who wins such a big game? Both sides will have digested

their scouting reports from the weekend on each other's strdngths

and weakenesses. And here is our report care of Ady. It starts with

Reading set`pieces. You can't afford to give aw`y

thankfully for Bournemouth slow things down. Tomorrow evening the

Darren, how much attention did you used to play to the scouting report?

Not as much as I should havd done. You should do. When I came down to

Bournemouth and started to do more of that sort of thing and I probably

didn't know a lot of the pl`yers, I did have a look. Not as much as I

should have. You saw Eddie `t the start of his coaching career. How

would you describe one of hhs scouting reports? He is thorough. He

loves his job, loves coaching. Very unfortunate with his playing and the

injury which meant he had to stop. He had a great opportunity `nd he

has taken it brilliantly. Hd has started to study the game m`ybe He

loves it and done a great job. It's great to see. One of the big moments

of the weekend was the return of Harry Redknapp to Bournemouth. Still

a local, he spent nine years at the club from 1983. Here's what the fans

had to say about him, and what he had to say about the Cherrids class

of 2014. He is always welcole back. I don't think he is happy at the

moment. He is wonderful. Thdy gave him a good support. We still love

him. He is a legend. Amazing man. I should think ` a result all round.

Eddie has done great with them. They're a good team. They'rd well

drilled, got good footballers. I still wouldn't write them off from

making the play`offs. If th`t game with Reading on Tuesday will be

all`important. If they can win that game they're right in the phcture.

serious injury? It is a lot to expect. There will be a lot of

pressure on him to deliver, the fact they're not scoring goals. He is a

goal`scorer. He isn't going to be match fit yet but stick him in the

box, if he gets a chance he will stick them away. The beauty of the

championship is there are so many teams bunched along. They sdem to

have indifferent spells and they're still up there. Brighton's season so

season. And they'll be trying to bounce back from another defeat at

Burton Albion. Plymouth in Sky Blue. The players

players can deal with that pressure better than others. But it hs all

about confidence, if they c`n make a result tomorrow night, but will

probably put them back into that top seven. If not, it is not easy. That

getting there. New boss Darrell Clarke, he's experienced evdrything

Torquay's relegation I'm afraid will be confirmed very shortly. Tp the

road, Exeter still not safe after this defeat at Bury. It really is

quite depressing at the bottom of League Two for our sides. One goal

down, Danny Coles ` he's sent off for a second yellow, he'll have to

serve a ban. Look at the referee, he's got it spot`on. Coles hs gutted

footballers of today. Maybe half a wage should go towards adopting a

women's football which is on the rise from the grassroots upwards. So

our cameras have popped in to what's a regular scene across the region `

here the Somerset county yotth teams have travelled to Hampshire for

matches at several age levels. Under`11s up to under 17s.

Interestingly only the oldest play in competitive leagues. The stats

are poor for recreational mdn's football, as we discussed l`st week.

But the FA say the women's game is the fastest growing team sport in

the country ` and the second most played women's team sport in

England. It is just a great grounding, great social envhronment

for them. Obviously healthy, so it takes all the boxes and I think the

girls' food and women's frol or is growing and growing. `` girls' and

women's football. It is gre`t to produce players playing for Chelsea

and so forth, but the environment and the social aspects, and the

benefits that brings, life skills, is great.

And there was also an historic moment at Brighton's Amex stadium

this weekend ` hosting what would be a runaway England victory for the

first time. This goal one of three for Toni Duggan in a 9`0 rott of

Montenegro. A debut too for Bristol Academy s

former coach Mark Sampson, hn his first game in charge of the national

team. Wade Elliott was so pleased to be

asked to appear on Late Kick Off, he scored a cracker last week. He was

on target again on Saturday ` but Wade, it took a deflection.

De Zeeuw. Once he played for the other Harry we featured tonhght `

Harry Redknapp. He was a rock in defence. But he's now swappdd

enforcement of one kind for quite another. Ian Haslam is in Etrope to

investigate the scene of thd crime. I was looking at something dlse

other than football. I have been a food all that long, I thought I

needed to look at the world a bit more. `` football. I tried to get

into my `` act into my medical studies, and bumped into a friend of

mine who was a detective whdre we are now. This is the room I spend

most of my time. Because I `m still doing my studies, I spend a lot of

time doing research and stuff. I'm involved with teams dealing with all

sorts of crimes, burglaries, muggings. I like the idea of

justice, and trying to make the world a better place for evdrybody,

more equal place. I'm good to specialise little bit furthdr into

forensics. More than likely it's going to be eager investigations, it

could be murder of big robbdries. You learn how to shoot with a gun,

you learn how to interrogatd people, that kind of stuff. The good thing

is, it is like football, sthll very much a team effort. You hardly ever

solve a crime of `` on your own But there is also carrying a gun! Yes,

practising with it gets you more confident. This is the local

station's team. They are very energetic, let me put it th`t way.

You have to be careful with your index with these. But I do play with

the National `` the police national team. We have actually qualhfied for

the European Championships hn Prague this summer. I am lacking a bit of

speed and touch, but the colpetitive edge is still there. It nevdr leaves

you. It won't. Once there w`s a guy we wanted to talk to, who fled from

the scene, and I'm more or less chased him, and within a minute he

sort of stopped with his hands on his knees, I can't go any more! You

might as well take me! So mx training certainly came in handy

there. I had enough pace to keep up. He is taking some of that dhscipline

from the field into a new lhne of work. When you finish footb`ll at 35

36, everyone says you are thred All you are doing is closing a chapter

of your life. It is a decishon a lot of people don't make at that stage

in your life. There are a lot of things to think about. Yes, and it

isn't the end of your life. You have got to do something different. When

you first retire, you do thhnk, that's it. But then you soon get

bored and you've got to start going to work and staff. These ard
