Hello, and welcome to Alexandra Palace for highlights of day two of

:01:01.:01:07.

the 2014 Masters. In a few minutes, we'll find out if Stephen Maguire

:01:08.:01:11.

could hold off the challenge of Joe Perry, after we've shown you the

:01:12.:01:14.

best of the action of a brilliant match between Judd Trump and Marco

:01:15.:01:18.

Fu. The crowd here treated to an absolute cracker.

:01:19.:01:34.

They've broke absolutely superbly... It's Marco Fu who takes the first

:01:35.:01:39.

frame... The good, long pot, it has to be

:01:40.:01:47.

said... Green, brown and blue needed for a

:01:48.:01:53.

3-1 lead at the midsection interval...

:01:54.:01:55.

He's missed it. Excellent pot on the pink! What a

:01:56.:02:00.

frame that was! And a check! He leads Marco Fu by

:02:01.:02:31.

four frames to three! Wonderful shot. Absolutely

:02:32.:02:38.

inch-perfect on the blue. 101 to send us in all square - 5-5.

:02:39.:02:53.

This is his chance... And Judd Trump now fearing the

:02:54.:02:59.

worst... Judd Trump leaves the arena very

:03:00.:03:11.

disappointed. Marco Fu will be over the moon.

:03:12.:03:15.

I just hung in the match. I couldn't believe I was 5-4 up, cos the way

:03:16.:03:19.

Judd was playing, he probably should have been 5-4 up. I just took my

:03:20.:03:24.

chances quite well today, and in the deciding frame, I just needed a

:03:25.:03:28.

chance, which I got at the end. It was a very nice feeling to be able

:03:29.:03:32.

to win in one visit under pressure. Could have gone either way, really.

:03:33.:03:37.

Think my safety was very good. Created a lot of chances. And Marco

:03:38.:03:43.

- he did play a bad shot a couple of times, but he got away with it.

:03:44.:03:48.

You've just got to keep your head up and look forward to the next

:03:49.:03:51.

tournament, and hopefully it changes. I felt quite confident even

:03:52.:03:56.

at the end. It's nice to be able to beat Judd, because he's a very good

:03:57.:03:59.

player. So, great drama here at the Masters.

:04:00.:04:08.

Marco Fu through to the quarterfinals. Could Stephen Maguire

:04:09.:04:11.

book a place in the last eight? Maguire has won five ranking titles,

:04:12.:04:16.

including the UK Championship way back in 2004. The UK Championship

:04:17.:04:21.

was like a hundred year ago for me. I can't really remember much about

:04:22.:04:26.

it. I've not really been - although I've been, I think, one of the top

:04:27.:04:29.

eight or whatever, I've not been one of those players that's, you know,

:04:30.:04:34.

won a lot of tournaments compared to some of the other boys over the last

:04:35.:04:37.

three or four year. For me, one of the majors just now - especially

:04:38.:04:42.

this week - that would be better than winning the UK ten year ago.

:04:43.:04:47.

Maguire has never been beyond the semifinals at the Masters, losing to

:04:48.:04:53.

Ronnie O'Sullivan in 2007, 2009, and Mark Selby in 2010. His opponent,

:04:54.:04:58.

Joe Perry's last appearance at the Masters was in 2010, where he was

:04:59.:05:03.

beaten at this stage by Ryan Day. He has never made the last eight of

:05:04.:05:06.

this tournament. Maybe this is his year - Perry won the first Asian

:05:07.:05:11.

tournament of the 2013-14 season, beating Mark Selby. He reached the

:05:12.:05:15.

quarterfinals of the Australian Open and got to the semifinals of the

:05:16.:05:19.

international championship. We pick it up in frame one - Perry to play,

:05:20.:05:27.

no score. Your commentators John Part and Dennis Taylor.

:05:28.:05:32.

Not the best safety there from Joe, especially with if that red next to

:05:33.:05:38.

the blue goes to the right corner. That was pretty careless. It was a

:05:39.:05:42.

straightforward safety shot. The yellow's just in the way

:05:43.:05:46.

slightly here. You know what Stephen Maguire wants

:05:47.:05:56.

to do - he's such an attacking player. If he sees half a chance of

:05:57.:06:01.

a pot, Heat take it on. Excellent.

:06:02.:06:03.

APPLAUSE Really is.

:06:04.:06:07.

Slightly off-putting when he got a ball like the yellow was there.

:06:08.:06:13.

Slightly hampering your cuing. But he hit that superbly well.

:06:14.:06:16.

Already, this is a good chance. He's been in the semifinals on three

:06:17.:06:33.

occasions with the last three visits to the Masters, as we show you the

:06:34.:06:37.

distance that that pot was. Worth another look. He's lost in the fist

:06:38.:06:45.

round in the last three Masters. All very close matches. He'll be wanting

:06:46.:06:52.

to go a little bit further this year.

:06:53.:07:30.

Delicate cannon needed on the red to the right of the black just above

:07:31.:07:34.

it. He left himself in a position where

:07:35.:08:05.

he's got a choice of reds - take your pick!

:08:06.:08:08.

One of those opportunities, Dennis, where you'd just love to win the

:08:09.:08:14.

first frame in the fist visit you get to the table - a scoring

:08:15.:08:18.

opportunity really settles you down and tells your opponent that you're

:08:19.:08:23.

here to play. If you make a mistake, it's going to be punished.

:08:24.:08:37.

? Sometimes you can go three or four frames and not get a chance around

:08:38.:08:44.

the black spot area. It was Joe's fist safety that left the chance.

:08:45.:08:54.

Joe could have had a go at the red that Stephen finished up potting,

:08:55.:08:59.

but he didn't want to play that one. He thought he'd play a good safety.

:09:00.:09:04.

That was careless, to cannon the yellow.

:09:05.:09:38.

Poor shot, really. It's a tricky little cutback. Look at the

:09:39.:09:45.

determination in those eyes. Looking at the way he's coming off

:09:46.:10:07.

the bump - if Stephen Maguire has a chance on the blue here, the pack is

:10:08.:10:10.

looking absolutely beautiful. Really well struck. Little bit

:10:11.:10:52.

thinner than he would have liked. He played that really well down the

:10:53.:10:57.

bottom of the cue ball there, you can see. Hit them absolutely plum. I

:10:58.:11:02.

think the one on the right-hand side is definitely available if he just

:11:03.:11:05.

chips that in the corner beyond the black. It will definitely be a

:11:06.:11:10.

frame-winning opportunity. Don't know whether that's a little

:11:11.:11:14.

bit thin. He's decided he's going to take the

:11:15.:11:18.

one closer to the cue ball up to the blue. I don't really blame him for

:11:19.:11:22.

that. That's nice...

:11:23.:11:29.

This is an absolutely superb start by Stephen Maguire. The ball here

:11:30.:11:35.

being hit with real authority. He looks in fine fetal.

:11:36.:12:31.

E Always nice to get off to a good start - this could be a

:12:32.:12:41.

frame-winning start. At the moment, Stephen Maguire is alliving up to

:12:42.:12:45.

his nickname, 'On Fire' Stephen Maguire. Hasn't been on fire

:12:46.:12:52.

consistently for the last couple of seasons. But he's back at world

:12:53.:13:01.

number five, and this is very impressive.

:13:02.:13:08.

Another thing you want to do with this start he's had here - try and

:13:09.:13:15.

make a total clearance. Joe, sitting in his chair, made that mistake. If

:13:16.:13:19.

he misses now, he might knock a few balls around and have a practice. If

:13:20.:13:22.

you keep him off the table as long as you can in the fist frame, it all

:13:23.:13:28.

helps. -- in the first frame, it all helps.

:13:29.:13:29.

APPLAUSE Yeah, we've had a 136 break

:13:30.:13:48.

yesterday, then Marco Fu superseded that with 138 this afternoon.

:13:49.:13:54.

?10,000 for the highest break here, so that's not to be sniffed at.

:13:55.:14:16.

If he could drop this black in here, play for the red up the back for two

:14:17.:14:23.

- there you go, he's played it that way. I thought he could have run

:14:24.:14:26.

through there, played the back red and flicked the other red off the

:14:27.:14:30.

side cushion if he wanted, but he's gone about it in a different way.

:14:31.:14:33.

Doesn't really matter - it's job done, as far as the first frame is

:14:34.:14:36.

concerned. Very impressive. Whether he decides to move that red

:14:37.:14:54.

or drop in behind it... Now he's got a choice here. I think

:14:55.:15:09.

he might try to drop on that red. If he could get the white in behind

:15:10.:15:17.

it... Just there, right by his elbow...

:15:18.:15:19.

APPLAUSE You need to work on your positional

:15:20.:15:29.

play there, Dennis! What a start this is!

:15:30.:15:36.

APPLAUSE A possible 139. Just come a little

:15:37.:15:45.

bit straight on the black... He's goingb to unlucky if he's

:15:46.:16:02.

snookered himself there, and I think he has, so he's going to need a

:16:03.:16:07.

fluke - anywhere and he's on the yellow. Just hit it as hard as you

:16:08.:16:11.

can and you might fluke it. Just played the brown onto it.

:16:12.:16:13.

(LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE) Great start from 'On Fire' Stephen

:16:14.:16:17.

Maguire. Can't do better than that. He had one chance, and made 112. He

:16:18.:16:20.

takes the opening frame. Yes, an excellent start by Maguire,

:16:21.:16:29.

and he won the next frame with a break of 80. Into frame three we go,

:16:30.:16:35.

Perry to play, trailing by 12 points.

:16:36.:16:43.

I'm not entirely convinced that's the right shot, to be honest with

:16:44.:16:48.

you. He's given an easy path for Stephen Maguire to get back in the

:16:49.:16:52.

baulk area. He could find himself somewhere down in the green. If

:16:53.:16:54.

you're going to play it that way, at least get it tight on the ball

:16:55.:16:57.

cushion. A tough one for Joe Perry. If he

:16:58.:17:28.

doesn't get it in, Stephen will be right amongst them. Added pressure,

:17:29.:17:34.

because he's 2-0 down. He knows his opponent is scoring fantastically

:17:35.:17:35.

well. Great shot.

:17:36.:17:47.

APPLAUSE Yep, 10 out of 10 for that one -

:17:48.:17:53.

look where he finished - if the red had have wobbled and come away from

:17:54.:17:59.

the pocket - that's the length of the pot there, 7'10". To roll it

:18:00.:18:04.

like that, he cued it perfectly. Can he keep Stephen Maguire sitting in

:18:05.:18:06.

this seat for a while? This is what top-class snooker is

:18:07.:18:20.

all about - you have to sit there and watch your opponent have all the

:18:21.:18:24.

table time. Now it's your turn - you've got to score. If you want to

:18:25.:18:28.

compete in the match, you have to certainly. These balls are spread

:18:29.:18:31.

really nicely... Very distinctive cue action, Joe

:18:32.:18:45.

Perry. He has annex tended pause in his cue action more so than other

:18:46.:18:51.

players, but a lovely touch in and amongst the black spot.

:18:52.:18:57.

All the players, Dennis, have some sort of pause in the cue action.

:18:58.:19:03.

Joe's seems to be quite pronounced. Yeah, it's a textbook cue action,

:19:04.:19:11.

isn't it? Goes way back to the days of Joe Davis and even Frank Callan,

:19:12.:19:15.

who coached most of the world champions of the '80s and '90s. Four

:19:16.:19:25.

or five feathers with the cue, then pause, then through in a straight

:19:26.:19:32.

line. Other players - and a player like Marco Fu - just points the cue.

:19:33.:19:36.

But he comes back, pauses, and delivers the cue in a straight line.

:19:37.:19:44.

Of course, the pause is there for one reason alone - it gives you time

:19:45.:19:52.

to transfer your eyes to the object ball. Come back, wait, eyes on the

:19:53.:19:59.

object ball, and off you go. He's got a lovely touch. Our good friend

:20:00.:20:06.

Sam Torrens, a keen snooker, has made 90 breaks - Sam used to look at

:20:07.:20:09.

the cue ball when he was delivering. He tried to look at the object ball

:20:10.:20:13.

and got himself confused! You should, as you say, look at the

:20:14.:20:17.

object ball before you deliver the cue. There are players in the top 16

:20:18.:20:22.

who do it the other way around - it's amazing. It's what you've grown

:20:23.:20:26.

up with and got used to. Generally, you'll see the eyes transfer back to

:20:27.:20:31.

the object ball there... Meanwhile, Joe's taking these quite nicely.

:20:32.:20:52.

Those four reds behind the pink aren't potable as they. The two reds

:20:53.:20:57.

on the cushion aren't nice. He's got to be a bit careful here.

:20:58.:21:32.

It's a funny shape as well, the four reds behind the pink - not really

:21:33.:21:41.

ideal for flicking one out or playing specific cannon on one of

:21:42.:21:45.

those. It's going to have to be hit with a bit of force and require a

:21:46.:21:51.

little bit of luck. Usually, Dennis, there's one ball

:21:52.:21:55.

they're going to play on purpose, but maybe if he can contact the

:21:56.:22:00.

middle one hard, screw out of there, maybe that will be OK. Yeah, as long

:22:01.:22:04.

as he doesn't hit the middle of those four reds and stick on that

:22:05.:22:07.

one - that would be the worst outcome. But I think he can avoid

:22:08.:22:09.

that. He hit that one a little bit more

:22:10.:22:18.

pace, and he would have been OK. Still got a possible pot on. You can

:22:19.:22:21.

see him striking down on the bottom of the cue ball. That red in the

:22:22.:22:26.

middle of those four is the one he caught three-quarter ball. A thin

:22:27.:22:32.

one, this, but he should be able to sneak it in.

:22:33.:22:38.

This match probably is of the highest standard - the opening red

:22:39.:22:49.

from Joe Perry was absolutely superb. Hasn't he taken these well

:22:50.:22:55.

so far! Excellent cuing. Knew full well if

:22:56.:22:59.

he missed it, there was a chance he'd be 3-0 down.

:23:00.:23:02.

Since then, he's been at the table and he's taken them very well. Good

:23:03.:23:09.

response. Pretty decent standards, you'd have

:23:10.:23:24.

to say! It has to be said, this table looks to be playing

:23:25.:23:27.

beautifully. It really does - nice and fast. Plenty of life in the

:23:28.:23:33.

cloth. Yep. I've got a sneaking feeling we might see a maximum here

:23:34.:23:36.

this week, Dennis. I've seen a couple of balls drop in on the top

:23:37.:23:39.

cushion which I thought were not going to go in, and the cloth is

:23:40.:23:44.

lovely. Best players in the world. Big prize money. We might see a

:23:45.:23:51.

maximum here this week. You heard it here first, folks! That was JP's

:23:52.:23:55.

prediction. Very, very entertaining.

:23:56.:24:42.

APPLAUSE Taking the pink to give himself a

:24:43.:24:57.

chance of a century. CROWD GROANS

:24:58.:25:00.

No century, but Joe Perry won't be too concerned about that. He potted

:25:01.:25:04.

a terrific opening red and he went on to make a frame-winning break of

:25:05.:25:10.

78. He's only one behind. 2-1 to Stephen Maguire.

:25:11.:25:14.

So, a fine break by Joe Perry, but into frame four, Stephen Maguire

:25:15.:25:18.

roaring back, and he's on a break of 56.

:25:19.:25:27.

If he's thinking of taking this on, good luck, cos this is horrible. Hit

:25:28.:25:36.

the front, Joe, with this one, and it won't be going in. This is a very

:25:37.:25:39.

tricky shot. There you go. Front draw, they don't

:25:40.:25:52.

go in. Stephen Maguire, 56. APPLAUSE

:25:53.:25:56.

You called it absolutely spot-on there, JP. That's what Stephen

:25:57.:26:02.

thought about it. But that's the type of player he is - he's so

:26:03.:26:05.

aggressive, is Stephen. Is that aggression going to cost him

:26:06.:26:16.

this fourth frame? Not an easy run to the winning line with that red

:26:17.:26:18.

the left side of the table. He gets a decent angle on the black

:26:19.:26:27.

here, he can play to move that red. If he didn't move that, he'd have

:26:28.:26:32.

the other red available. What sort of angle has he left

:26:33.:26:36.

himself here? Definitely worth trying to bring that into play,

:26:37.:26:41.

because if he slips past it, he'd leave the other red on.

:26:42.:26:43.

A key shot coming up. Not the best cuing that Joe's

:26:44.:27:19.

produced so far this evening. That's the first one that he didn't cue

:27:20.:27:24.

well. As you said, John, a lot of pressure on this shot, and just cued

:27:25.:27:28.

slightly across it. He knew straightaway.

:27:29.:27:31.

Yep. I think Stephen Maguire was lucky there. I didn't like the

:27:32.:27:37.

twisted shot he played down the cushion before. He can consider

:27:38.:27:41.

himself quite fortunate he's coming back to the table.

:27:42.:27:55.

He shouldn't really make any misday from here.

:27:56.:28:02.

Well in the driving seat here. He shouldn't really make any mistakes

:28:03.:28:09.

from here. Tell you what - they've been pretty quick frames as well -

:28:10.:28:13.

just over 12 minutes for the opening frame. Just over 11 for the second.

:28:14.:28:17.

Just over 15 - well, just under 15 - for the third. This one hasn't been

:28:18.:28:24.

going 14 minutes. So the four frames are going to be over in under an

:28:25.:28:26.

hour. Absolutely no reason why this

:28:27.:28:44.

shouldn't be all over. Pots the brown perfect on the yellow -

:28:45.:28:48.

something he'll have done a million times in practice. Ball colours on

:28:49.:28:50.

the spot. Looks like, as they go for their

:28:51.:29:03.

half-time cup of tea, Joe Perry will be 3-1 down. He'll be feeling OK,

:29:04.:29:08.

Joe, but he knows that red he missed - with Stephen playing as well as he

:29:09.:29:14.

is, Joe could quite easily have been all square with him.

:29:15.:29:18.

That's good from both players - 93% and 96%. Top-class. As you would

:29:19.:29:34.

expect in the Masters. Top 16 players in the world. Every match

:29:35.:29:41.

could grace the final of any tournament. Very, very entertaining

:29:42.:29:45.

from both players, but it'll be Stephen Maguire who'll be the more

:29:46.:29:49.

happy as they go to the midsession interval. He leads three frames to

:29:50.:29:52.

one. And after that midsession interval,

:29:53.:29:57.

Maguire was heading for the last day, taking the next two to make it

:29:58.:30:02.

5-1. Perry, interestingly, grabs the next two to make it 5-3. We join it

:30:03.:30:07.

in frame nine, Maguire trailing by 21 points.

:30:08.:31:03.

Tough shots, these... APPLAUSE

:31:04.:31:10.

That's beautifully cued. That really is beautifully cued.

:31:11.:31:17.

I think Joe can sense that Stephen Maguire is struggling a little bit

:31:18.:31:32.

to get over the line. He knows if he could just play something akin to

:31:33.:31:36.

his best, he's still got a big chance in this match.

:31:37.:32:35.

Stephen Maguire is looking a little bit concerned. It was all flowing

:32:36.:32:41.

beautifully for him. He had a century, an 80, a 86. All of a

:32:42.:32:48.

sudden, Joe Perry just loosened up and he's producing the snooker that

:32:49.:32:55.

we know he's capable of. Never won a match yet in the Masters, Joe. I

:32:56.:33:01.

mentioned when he was 5-1 down, Dennis, he'd have to play no-mistake

:33:02.:33:06.

snooker. That's not necessarily been the case. He has potted a few, but

:33:07.:33:14.

his opponent's certainly helped. It's going to be a struggle to get

:33:15.:33:17.

over the line at the moment, the way it's looking, this match. And it

:33:18.:33:19.

shouldn't have been. He's going to have to move those

:33:20.:34:03.

reds. Just needs this red and the black or pink - that would be enough

:34:04.:34:06.

to leave Stephen Maguire in trouble. He'd like to make a century. He made

:34:07.:36:13.

28 centuries last season. 15 so far this season.

:36:14.:36:25.

This coming just at the right time for Joe Perry and his supporters.

:36:26.:36:36.

John Higgins won his match 6-2, but the other three matches all went to

:36:37.:36:43.

a deciding frame. Yes, you always seem to get a lot of

:36:44.:36:54.

that at the Masters - top 16 players in the world. So little between the

:36:55.:37:01.

relative merits. You do tend to get some really competitive games, and

:37:02.:37:04.

this is turning into one of them. It didn't look like it about an hour

:37:05.:37:13.

ago, but Stephen Maguire's standard has dropped a bit, and Joe Perry's

:37:14.:37:18.

has improved. It's definitely game on.

:37:19.:37:22.

As I say, Joe Perry wasn't playing badly in this match early on, he

:37:23.:37:30.

just wasn't getting a shot. Then Stephen Maguire's just started to

:37:31.:37:36.

fade a bit. Another century from Joe Perry. It's game on.

:37:37.:37:38.

APPLAUSE He's had a yellow, a green, a brown,

:37:39.:37:49.

three blues, seven pinks, four blacks. Is he going to get the final

:37:50.:37:54.

black? Doesn't really matter. Excellent effort from Joe Perry.

:37:55.:37:57.

APPLAUSE He keeps himself firmly in this

:37:58.:38:01.

year's Masters. He's got another one back. That's three in a row! He's

:38:02.:38:08.

now 5-4 behind. Game on! It really is a terrific fight-back

:38:09.:38:13.

by Joe Perry. Into frame 10, will Stephen Maguire steal his place in

:38:14.:38:16.

the last eight in this next frame? Here he is on a break of 28.

:38:17.:39:25.

Some of the finest cuing I've seen all week, and some of the worst.

:39:26.:39:30.

There's been shots missed by an absolute mile, and some shots that

:39:31.:39:35.

you've raved about. It's had a bit of everything.

:39:36.:39:40.

It's always been in the Masters, the first round to get through to the

:39:41.:39:43.

quarterfinal has always been the toughest round to win, believe it or

:39:44.:39:45.

not. APPLAUSE

:39:46.:40:00.

Good cue ball. He's covered that one near the left corner pocket, I

:40:01.:40:07.

think. Joe just looking to see if he could see enough of the cushion to

:40:08.:40:12.

just come off the cushion and land on that red.

:40:13.:40:17.

He's going to come off the side cushion nestled on the three reds

:40:18.:40:23.

there... That's a bit careless! That's a bit

:40:24.:40:28.

careless! He might even be able to cut this in! Now that is just a lack

:40:29.:40:34.

of concentration there. Cos it was a wide target - didn't matter which

:40:35.:40:42.

one of them he landed on. Very surprising. I mean, this is

:40:43.:40:49.

absolutely razor-thin, this red. If Stephen Maguire takes this on, it is

:40:50.:40:51.

very, very thin indeed. APPLAUSE

:40:52.:41:06.

Oh, my goodness. What a pot. What a pot.

:41:07.:41:13.

He knew he had to come twice across the table to cannon them. It

:41:14.:41:17.

couldn't have worked out better. We go back to Joe's shot - he wouldn't

:41:18.:41:21.

have had that little bit of good fortune if Joe had have concentrated

:41:22.:41:24.

and just nestled on the reds. That was a terrific shot from Stephen

:41:25.:41:29.

Maguire. He deserved a bit of good fortune there.

:41:30.:41:35.

But to finish on pink and black - well, they don't finish any better

:41:36.:41:42.

than that, and that might just be Joe Perry's last visit to the table.

:41:43.:41:49.

Stephen Maguire played for the plump there, has he, Dennis? Looks like

:41:50.:41:53.

it. Don't really know what other shot he's played, unless that one

:41:54.:41:56.

next to the pink he can get through. It must be the plant.

:41:57.:42:04.

He's had three or four plants in this match. Joe Perry knows that

:42:05.:42:20.

that is the end. Well, he's 38 ahead, 75 on. It really should be

:42:21.:42:25.

the end. He's struggled so far in the last couple of frames to win the

:42:26.:42:28.

match, Stephen Maguire, but he doesn't really have to do anything

:42:29.:42:33.

with the cue ball here. He's such a talented player, Joe

:42:34.:42:40.

Perry, but this is his sixth appearance in the Masters. He lost

:42:41.:42:45.

in the wild card round a couple of times and lost in the last 16 the

:42:46.:42:50.

last two seasons - just can't get off the mark. It's the toughest

:42:51.:42:56.

tournament to win of the lot, with the exception of the World

:42:57.:42:57.

Championship. Stephen had lost the last three

:42:58.:43:08.

Masters in the first round, but it's Stephen that's going through to the

:43:09.:43:15.

quarterfinal. He'll meet either - I think it's Gary Robson or Vassos

:43:16.:43:22.

Alexander, John. Neil Robinson or Neil Alan. That's a dinger of a

:43:23.:43:29.

match. Should be a cracker. He'll be a bit disappointed here, Joe Perry

:43:30.:43:32.

in this frame. He just didn't keep the pressure on

:43:33.:43:35.

Stephen Maguire. Both players making centuries. The

:43:36.:43:49.

way they set off before the midsession interval, it was

:43:50.:43:51.

unbelievable snooker. Then things changed at the interval. Got a

:43:52.:43:56.

little bit scrappy. Players started missing. And there's another one

:43:57.:44:03.

that's missed, but barring lots of snookers, Stephen Maguire's in the

:44:04.:44:05.

quarterfinal. I think he'll shake hands now that

:44:06.:44:21.

both reds have gone in. You would think he would, because that has

:44:22.:44:28.

just spoiled his chances, knocking both reds in.

:44:29.:44:32.

52 in it, 35 on the table. He's looking at the scoreboard, is Joe.

:44:33.:44:53.

He almost came over to shake hands. That's hard to get a snooker, debs!

:44:54.:44:59.

-- Dennis! TE Just play nice and slow here -

:45:00.:45:13.

don't do anything daft or hit the black. Joe needs five snookers at

:45:14.:45:16.

the moment. This is quite a big target. Might go

:45:17.:45:32.

in off the red. Nice feeling for Stephen Maguire,

:45:33.:45:48.

the opponent needing five four-point snookers. He'll be totally relaxed

:45:49.:45:53.

out there, Stephen Maguire. Pressure will be off.

:45:54.:46:20.

He does concede. Both players started off like a house on fire. It

:46:21.:46:26.

all changed after the midsession interval. It was a great effect from

:46:27.:46:30.

Joe Perry to come back from 5-1 to 5-4 but, in the end, Stephen Maguire

:46:31.:46:35.

takes the match, and he goes through to the quarterfinal a 6-4 victor.

:46:36.:46:41.

I felt good at the start. Little bit nervous at the start, but the way I

:46:42.:46:45.

went out there and dealt with it, I was quite pleased. Towards the end

:46:46.:46:52.

there, it was a different game from from what it was in the 90 minutes

:46:53.:46:57.

before the. It wasn't that I was under any more pressure - he starts

:46:58.:47:01.

getting his bit between the teeth, and he played well. I definitely

:47:02.:47:06.

didn't want it to go five each. I've been looking forward to this since

:47:07.:47:11.

the UK. It's just great. The one-table set-up - we're not getting

:47:12.:47:16.

that these days. We're playing with ten tables there and everybody's

:47:17.:47:19.

getting in each other's way. It's good to be out there. You feel like

:47:20.:47:22.

a professional snooker player for a change. I want to play there again

:47:23.:47:28.

and play the following match, and stay here as long as I can. Raze

:47:29.:47:33.

Well done, Stephen Maguire. Let's remind you of the draw:

:47:34.:48:06.

More action on the way in Snooker Extra straight after this programme.

:48:07.:48:12.

You can savour that epic match here at the Masters between Judd Trump

:48:13.:48:16.

and Marco Fu all over again, and then Hazel is back with further live

:48:17.:48:22.

covage from the Masters at 1.00 as we concentrate on Ding Junhui taking

:48:23.:48:25.

on muff Murphy. That also could be a cracker. Sleep -- Shaun Murphy. That

:48:26.:48:31.

also could be a cracker. Sleep well. Bye for now.
