My rules are the following rules. The first rule, Chelsea always

deserved to win. Chelsea always the best team on the pitch. Every

referee decision was against Chelsea. The man of the match at --

the man of the match, a Chelsea player. I wonder which one of these

three might follow Jose's rules. I have an idea but we'll find out

after the game from Stamford Bridge. It has been a season of change for

Chelsea and Manchester United. Mourinho and Moyes but both took

over in the summer and respective evolutions began. Their challenge

was to get their machines firing once again. Eden Hazard has sparked

Chelsea in recent weeks, helping Mourinho mould the team of old,

maybe a title winning side. After all, if it ain't broke, don't fix

it. United stills stall and spot at times. Missing cocks have helped us

occasionally showed glimmers of promise. They are still the --

missing parts have helped occasionally.

Eight of the last nine Premier League titles have belong to either

Chelsea or Manchester United. Just always matters. Certainly when the

two Chelsea are chasing have already won this weekend and certainly when

United are seventh and haven't been top force since September, Jose

Mourinho makes two changes. Ivanovic and Eto'o return. Ivanovic's first

game of the calendar year, new or old boy Matic has returned. With

four clubs over ten years, Mourinho has lost just two 17 against United.

Moyes welcomes back Phil Jones, Evans and Ashley Young. Jones hasn't

played since before Christmas. Warm weather training or not there is no

ruin your Van Persie, his 10th game out. Welbeck has six goals in the

nine games since he took over. Valencia tried to turn away from

Azpilicueta. Good defending from Chelsea's left back.

Firmly away by John Terry. Ashley Young with a shooting chance for

Manchester United. A good save, Cech will stop unlucky, United, that it

didn't rebound to Welbeck. A great start to the game from Manchester

United. Oscar's header really didn't do the job. A lovely 1-2. Good save

by Cech. And Chelsea are in front, a big

deflection on it! Eto'o hit it. Carrick deflected it Chelsea have

scored. Samuel Eto'o puts Chelsea in front.

Its world over the top of the unlucky De Gea. -- it swirled over

the top of the unlucky De Gea. And Chelsea are in front.

The goal flattered Chelsea a little bit. They were just beginning to ask

a few questions. A slice of good fortune about the way the beach De

Gea. Well, now, David Luiz and Valencia crashing into each other.

The Chelsea man gets a yellow card. Phil Dowd is determined that he is

not going to change his mind. Jose Mourinho saying something into Lee

Probert's ear and walking away with a wink. David Moyes was in no doubt

that was a bad challenge. Straight to Cech. The chance came so

quickly and unexpectedly. It never looked likely to reach Welbeck, but

it was missed by Cahill and Welbeck didn't make the most of it.

Two United players were claiming the use of a hand.

Manchester United might have a problem here.

Oscar. Took on the acrobatic and nearly pulled it off. United happy

to get away with that. Coming close to half time, they do not want to go

further behind. A free kick. A foul on Willian.

Jones has just trodden on the back of his heel. It is David Luiz. Hit

the wall, a corner. Eto'o, two - zero. Chelsea have

doubled their lead right at the end of the half! David Moyes will be

absolutely furious. Samuel Eto'o with both goals, such an easy goal

from Chelsea's point of view. Chelsea two, Manchester United mill

Max. -- nil. Chelsea have a corner. Chelsea have

the threats, Chelsea have the lead. Manchester United have it all to do.

A free header, Cahill, and Samuel Eto'o has a hat-trick! Supreme

goal-scorer. He has played for just about every big club in the world.

He has scored goals in every competition. Now he has a hat-trick

for Chelsea against Manchester United.

Manchester United are in big trouble, 40 more minutes to play.

The last Chelsea player to score three against Manchester United was

Seamus O'Connell, 1954-55 season. Chelsea were champions that season

for the very first time. Hernandez closing him down and

Petter check got away with that. -- and Cech got away with that. Cech

here took a chance. He redeemed himself, but he might very well not

have done. Phil Jones, and in, Hernandez gives

Manchester United something to cling to. Chelsea have been a little bit

casual ever since they went 3-0 up. Hernandez is judged to be onside and

gives Manchester United a consolation. Well, this will mean

something to Hernandez. He was played onside by Mikel. Anyway, it

is three - one. Manchester United looking to finish strongly here. At

one stage of this game it looks like Chelsea might go on and embarrassed

them. John Terry might have tried to go

for goal himself, took the unselfish view. What a run and what a pass to

find him. Vidic, he comes and apologises but

this might be a red card for Vidic. And he is indeed sent off. That is

the last thing David Moyes needs. His captain has been sent off in

added time at the end of the game which they have already lost and no

wonder the United manager shakes his head. He absolutely flew into

Hazard. He is nowhere near the ball. He is very late. It is not

particularly dangerous, but it is very, very late and it is certainly

ill-advised. Well, some might argue that a yellow would have sufficed

but Vidic, as soon as he made the challenge, was running the risk of a

red card and that is what he got. Hernandez looking for Welbeck.

Rafael sliding and on Gary Cahill and the referee Phil Dowd blows his

whistle. Cahill very unhappy with the challenge of Rafael and Rafael

gets a yellow card. It is an unsavoury end. Oh, dear, well, two

feet are showing. That might well be worse than the Vidic one. Studs

showing, diving in, that could easily have been another red card.

I have no problems if he tackles me as hard as he wants as long as that

is fair. He came in two footed but thankfully I rode it. It is gone. I

haven't seen Rafael but I have seen Vidic and it probably sounds like

that but I haven't looked yet but it was not a red card will stop it was

a yellow card. If Rafael was a bad one then I would say what I honestly

think. This game was a bit of contradiction to the other games

because normally we produce, produce, did you -- produce and it

is hard for them to score a goal and today it was the first time we got

the first shop and it was a deflection. The second goal, yes,

was the king in the box from many years ago and 2-0 at half-time was

hard for them and only a team like them, a club like them with their

pride and their tradition, they fought back because normally another

team would give up. I thought this game would be tight and I thought it

would be decided by goals from set pieces. We did not defend well

enough, we did not get a chance to score in their box from a corner

kick and we can only blame ourselves for that. We're not giving up. We

are reigning champions and have pride and we are not giving up. We

keep believing. It is a long way, don't get me wrong and we are not

favourites to win it by all means but we don't give up. We try and win

as many games as we can and see where we end up. I think they will

try to finish top four, which I think they can. To be Champions Day

needs three teams to lose a lot of matches in the last part of the

season -- to be champions, they need three teams to lose. Let us deal

with the late cards. David Moyes did say it was probably a Red Bull

Rafael, a yellow for Vidic. I agree. 100%. That is cleared up!

On to how United played. David Moyes said, at times he was plead with

their play but they let themselves down defensively. Chelsea went 3-0

up. United probably had the same

chances. Vidic, taking it down the line, he forgets to go with him.

Vidic was beaten for pace. This is the Oscar chance. The warning signs

whether that United defence of the warning signs whether that United

defensively were poor. The first goal. Phil Jones gets himself in a

bad position. He had to force them down the line. Evans came across.

Ashley Young could have come back. You have Carrick there as well. Phil

Jones gets to square. They were very unlucky.

The second goal, the captain was all over the place. Coming back in. A

Eto'o was there. He either has two push across but at no stage did he

come across. The most bizarre goal of all. He

forgets he is marking Eto'o. He rushes back in. Cahill heads it.

Watch Evans. He spots a gap between De Gea and Valencia. How crazy was

that? Beyond belief the organisation was so bad. Strikers we knew the

matches. Defences save you the games. They have lost the game.

You spotted something else regarding the defence.

David Moyes said they were poor in defensive situations. They were

worse than poor. Rafael wasn't left back position. Do they switch over?

Patrice Evra to the left, Rafael to the right? What is Patrice Evra

doing? He should be back there making sure the cross doesn't come

in. He is loitering. He should be marking somebody. He leaves them

with no marking. He is never going to catch him. The marking was all

over the place from everywhere. That is individual errors. Not how

they are being coached. When you are struggling and

confidence is low, that is when it creeps in.

Both sides today had centre halves playing in central midfield.

The difference between the two sides showed.

Chelsea can have a midfield player or centre half playing midfield, but

Manchester United cannot. You're never seen Bryan Robson being beaten

this easy. It was easy for Chelsea to get past. The midfield player

should keep the ball. Phil Jones wasn't. This is what he did right

after the ball was restarted. I think he should be back here. That

is his position. Ashley Young should be up there doubling up, making sure

they are showing up. That was too easy. It would -- if he was there,

Carrick would not have had to make that month. But David Luiz, he was

running the game for Chelsea. He was a centre half, but playing midfield.

Distributing the ball. Controlling it. If I was David Moyes comic he is

the kind of player I would sign. He goes over the top now and again. If

Vidic was getting a red card, David Luiz should have got a red card as

well. That is the only problem I have, he goes over the top.

Do you have sympathy for Phil Jones?

He has been brought in as a centre half. The injury problems Manchester

United have forces David Moyes to play him either right back,

midfield. He is that kind of player who can play in different positions.

But their success has been built on the engine room which has been the

midfield. It is unfortunately very weak.

In actual fact, there was nothing complicated about what they did.

They are attacking and creative players, winning the ball high up,

those three players are supposed to be creators. Closing down. Every

time United got the ball, there is Oscar, the best tackler in the

League. He closes down. He won't allow you to get on. He is always in

there. William had fantastic energy. He chases all the way. They get the

ball back because they make the keeper keep -- kick it.

I want to talk about dummies. That lovely step over, fantastic. Phil

Jones. Paul Phil Jones! A lovely dummy. Mourinho says to do

it in the right places at the right time. A lovely dummy he did. He got

away with it and cleared it. A smile, but not from him. He will

tell Petr Cech not to do that any more. The team was structured in the

right way today. It looked like a Jose Mourinho side.

They are probably not as fluent as Arsenal but they have good players.

They have great solidity. The good players speak for themselves. The

longer United are not in the top four, the more people will go, is

this equivalent to Liverpool 1990? Do you see any resemblance? The

hardest thing for any successful site is to bring in new personnel.

Even though United won the title last year, it wasn't the best United

side ever. Everyone recognised this team needed to be broken up. But

they failed to do was bring in new personnel this summer, they are

desperate. The best players are still the older players but they are

on their last legs. The young players everyone thought would be

right up there are not as good as people thought. Let me take you back

to 1982. It was the year Prince William was

born. Olivia Newton John had us getting physical. The first CD

player was released. And Thriller was the top-selling album. 1982 was

also the last time Swansea beat Tottenham in the League.

Recent form doesn't suggest a change in that record on the cards. Despite

that victory at Manchester United, the side of seven League games

without a win, dropping down the table. Even though they regularly

dominate possession, they only have two wins at home all season. It is

the opposite the Spurs. Unbeaten in the League under Tim Sherwood, they

are looking for a fifth successive away game. That would complete a

fifth straight win over Swansea. Your commentator is Martin Fisher.

Michael Laudrup was struggling when AVB got the boot. How Spurs have

soared under Tim Sherwood. A Champions League spot firmly in

focus. A victory takes them joint fourth with Liverpool. It is crazy

at the other end of the table, Swansea three points above

relegation. They will climb into the top half if they win this one Canas

has joined Michu and the government on the injury list. Chico returns at

the back. Toni has scored three in his last three. Tim Sherwood does

away with the usual formation. Soldado drops out. Chadli makes his

first start since Boxing Day. Eriksen expects to play behind

Adebayor. Both finding the net frequently in recent weeks.

Swansea haven't been mentioned as potential relegation candidates, but

their dreadful run means they are in the mix.

Shelvey going for goal. Lloris palmed it away. Shelvey, bringing

the best out of Hugo Lloris. Swansea, without a win in their last

seven games, just one win here in their last six. Only was allowed --

Toni was allowed to turn committee got the of Rose. He wasn't far wide.

He was expecting a pass there. Expecting that ball to be knocked to

him. Toni nearly caught him out. The ?12 million acquisition this

summer, the most expensive recruit for Swansea ever.

A drive towards goal. Canas against the crossbar with Lloris well

beaten. They are getting closer and closer, Swansea, but still no

breakthrough. Look at the power. Lloris was clutching thin air.

In came the corner. Dropping for Pozuelo. Toni felt he was pushed to

the ground, the referee, Atkinson, waves away those appeals. Dawson was

the defender. It couldn't have been more obvious. And there was a push

by Dawson, look at the position of Martin Atkinson, how did he not see

that. Michael Laudrup will be wondering how his team is not in

front. Eriksen. Ricocheting for Adebayor.

Eriksen with the cross. A great ball, Adebayor with the header and

Tottenham are in front, their first goal, another from Emanuel Adebayor.

The first really good linkup play we have seen from Tottenham today. The

delivery by Eriksen was brilliant, hit with pace. From point-blank

range, Emanuel Adebayor hits home -- heads home his fifth of the season.

He keeps on scoring for Tim Sherwood and somehow Spurs, who have rolled

with the punches in the opening 35 minutes, take the lead.

It was given away. Adebayor. Eriksen is on the edge. Rose. Now, Chadli.

What an opportunity to double their lead. One minute after taking the

lead. Adebayor with the national work down the left. Tottenham had

plenty forward. They kept nudging it right. Chadli really should be

hitting the target. Adebayor wanted the ball in the

middle. A miscue by Chico. Tremmel could not prevent the corner,

Tottenham's first of the game. Swansea are looking rattled at the

back. Tottenham looking to press home their advantage. Eriksen with

the corner. It was punched away by Tremmel.

Cross by Eriksen, Chico, away. Back in the mix by Walker. A touch on for

Adebayor. Strong hand from Tremmel. Terrific contact by Adebayor. A

spectacular stop from Tremmel. Swansea are hanging on in. They have

everybody apart from Toni behind the ball.

Eriksson, who has been in such terrific nick since he came back

from injury. A beautiful turn, an easy save. Arguably the most

talented Danish international since a certain Michael Laudrup.

A real opportunity here for Tottenham.

Oh, it is enough Chico! Spurs go two in front. Tottenham carefully with

the build-up play. Dawson, the run from Walker. Lamah did not know what

to do. Chico obliges with a touch. In truth, there was nobody in pale

blue within five yards of him. Surely there is no way back for

Swansea now. 16 points out of 18. Not many of those Tottenham fans

would have had Tim Sherwood at the top of their list when Andrei

Villas-Boas got the bullet, but what the job he is doing, putting real

pressure on for the final fourth Champions League spot. A good shot,

a good save by Lloris. It was firmly struck from Bony. It's one are to

get a goal back you are pretty certain it will be from his boot.

Excellent work from the Romanian. Got the better of Pozuelo second

time around. Dembele misses. That would have

settled it and he really should have put that one away. Adebayor with an

expression that says, I certainly would have scored. Dembele, not

renowned for his goal-scoring abilities. Scored against Stoke a

few weeks ago but that was his first Premier League goal since his debut

last season. Look at the reaction of Adebayor. Why didn't you pass to me,

or words to that effect. If Swansea do get something out of this game,

we will all look back at that Dembele miss as the turning point

but you really get the impression there will be more chances for the

visitors rather than the home side. Adebayor does not miss! Danny Rose

picks it out after Mousa Dembele failed to appreciate the situation

and Adebayor keeps on scoring for Tim Sherwood and Spurs. This one is

all over now. All Adebayor had to do was find the

back of the net. Under Tim Sherwood now Spurs have scored 14 goals in

five and a bit games. Under ABB they've managed 15 in their previous

16 matches. Look at that reaction from Tim Sherwood. He has been an

inspired selection. His selection of Adebayor, equally inspired.

Tottenham on course for their fifth consecutive away win and that would

match record that has stood since 1960.

Appeals for hand ball as he appeared to chest that one clear.

Bony, there is one back. Well, if anybody deserves a gold today it is

that man, Bony. He has hit the bar, tested Lloris and now he has his

14th of the season. Tottenham could not clear their lines here is

Swansea probe bravely. His seventh Premier League goal,

they have all come here at the Liberty Stadium. Eight games without

a win for Michael Laudrup and Swansea. They continue to slide down

the Premier League table. A good attitude, a good performance.

We had a couple of good chances, a fantastic shot on the crossbar and

the first time they hit the target they scored a goal but that is what

happens when you are struggling and we have to admit that in terms of

winning we are struggling in the league. What have you done to

Emmanuel Adebayor? You can't stop scoring. I can't take the credit for

that, to be honest. The man who has to take him the credit, I have given

him the space to perform. It is not as if he was never a good player, he

was always a fantastic player and everywhere he has been he has scored

goals and he is enjoying his football. We are reaping the

rewards. Your second goal from Danny Rose' -- from Danny Rose's

screwball, you were not best pleased with Moussa when he did not pass to

you. I am a quality player, he should have passed the ball. He told

me that he was across the goal. That is behind us, it is most important

to win the game. If he did the same thing and we lost the game, I don't

know how it would end up, I would end up in a fight. I am very happy,

we had a chat about in the dressing room and we move on. Hopefully the

next time he will pass the ball to me or another person. The most

important thing is scoring goals, that is all that matters. Whether it

is Adebayor, Eriksen, we want to win the game. I think he was probably

serious about the fight, don't you? ! 100%. There are times when the

manager would put you off for that, it was dreadful not passing the

ball. A combination of him. He would not have passed the ball. He would

have scored, probably. The combination of him and Eriksson

works well for Spurs. You need partnerships everywhere on the pitch

and this seems to be a good partnership.

We are proud of him, he is dangerous. The Ajax team was built

around him, he is capable player. He keeps things simple. Simple passes,

always available. Is always in good positions. We saw this last week, he

scored a fantastic goal. You can create chances for himself. I think

in this instance he takes one to many touches but the linkup with

Adebayor, have a look at Eriksson gets the ball. Have a look at

Adebayor's run into the box. To score goals, it is easy when you get

crosses in like this and this is Eriksson playing into Adebayor. All

he has to do is touch it. Adebayor today, he showed himself to be a

hungry player. Here we get this little incident. He would have been

offside, by the way. He was well onside and I don't think Adebayor

would have passed the ball but he was angry with Dembele for not doing

it and he proved himself right two minutes later when he got the ball

in a similar situation. There was only one place... He had to score

that, didn't he? I have to say with Tim Sherwood coming in, getting this

opportunity, I think so refreshing not only for Tottenham but for the

Premier League as well. These managers are bringing in from Spain,

from Portugal but we don't know. It has gone very tactical, got, I was

reading today, it is laptop management. But with Tim Sherwood,

he has come in with a totally different approach. I'm going to go

back, there's no need for me to have four rightful bags and seven

midfielders, I'm going to have my best 11 and try to play them every

time. That is not to say that he is not tactically aware as well.

Absolutely, he did say he would play two upfront most of the time at this

time he did not. Eriksson will join him when they attack but when they

are defending he goes back in there, you have a 4-5-1. You need to do

that against Swansea because Swansea like passing in the midfield area.

Five men there, close them down, don't let them play through you, sit

on them. It is not compensated tactics but he has not stuck to the

rigid 4-4-2. Not just tactically there, also creativity, I completely

agree with Peter. He's probably the most important player in their team

at the moment. We talk about Swansea, what has gone wrong? They

won seven out of 33 since they won the League Cup in the Premier

League. Is it injuries? Is it they have struggled with the Europa

League or something else? Those factors but they are very samey.

They try and pass you to death. I don't think there's any variation in

tactics and what teams have done is they have worked on it and if you

press them high up the pitch you know invariably they will look short

and they will try to get the ball over the top down the channels, they

will look for somebody short so press them high up the pitch. If you

are not getting pressed, we could pass it all day long but when teams

are pressing and you are high up the pitch, if you try to pass your way

out of trouble you need seventh or eight or nine good in possession and

today they did have it. Tottenham have pressed them, time after time

and Swansea have given it away here. Shelvey gets pressed quickly,

Adebayor on the attack. Everywhere, they just kept on losing it.

Confidence is low but pass, pass, pass, pass, the passing goes astray.

Again, similar sort of thing. Lennon picks up. The goalkeeper gets in on

the act. What was all that about? It is suicidal against a top side. Then

Danny Rose, a left back, he comes quickly forced off he gets through.

You can tell what has happened and when they go behind, eight Tottenham

players in the picturesque, right? By the goalkeeper picks this up,

watch Shelvey, number eight at the edge of the box. He is looking for a

quick break. Get it forward, quickly, no, not a chance. 1-0 down,

what do they do, they get a tad play it back, play it back. Play it and

come back to the start. Easy to play against. It is ironic the last

minute the first time they get it forward quickly for the left back

into the best player, the centre forward, Bony, it is like over the

top, get the defence turning. Just bury it. It is a simple variation of

tactic. If I am defending against that, right, I will not be turning

in the slightest. Because they are trying to play in front of you you

can set yourself up and it is easy to play against and let me tell you,

they talk about principles and philosophies and I think the word is

survival. They are in trouble? They are in trouble. Let's start I will

look back at yesterday's action with a game at Anfield where Aston Villa

continued their good recent record. They could have been 3-0 up could

bill before they did eventually take the lead. It is a big pointless, the

Paul Lambert's side? Yes, at the end of the Aston game they were playing

well but Agbonlahor has been phenomenal. Benteke scoring a couple

of goals but Agbonlahor's pace, he is using it in the right way. He

feels like he is the main man again. He has been in sparkling form. They

could have been away. It is the weight -- omit -- it was amazing the

way they played at Anfield, they attacked Liverpool. It was

refreshing to see but paid massive desert dance for them. --

dividends. Liverpool started slowly but this time they would 2-0 down

before they got going. We come to this big incident in the match.

Which we will talk about in greater detail in a moment. Considering they

went 2-0 down. Before we get to that, can we just, the pass from

Steven Gerrard. Brilliant. This is one of the best passes of the game,

ever. You 2-1 down, you need someone like that and you have Steven

Gerrard, you have soirees in there, the two main players full of the

pool producing. -- Luis Suarez. In the second half he was brilliant.

Has been a lot of discussion about Luis Suarez, I would rather look at

Brad Guzan and what keepers should do in this situation because is what

happened in August with Guzan. That is the same game. You won't get a

clearer penalty than that. I can't for the life of me understand Guzan

doing that there. He is doing the same thing again, diving into the

feed of the striker, which is going away from the goal, right? Where is

Luis Suarez going? Nowhere. But whether referee is, Guzan is leaving

the referee with no other option than to give the penalty. It is

clever play by Suarez. I don't think he's doing too much there. If you

are home team you might get that, you will not get the away team doing

it. You would do. What Suarez is doing is taken advantage of an

opponent's mistake like all the great players have done, in the past

and the future, a great first touch, waiting for the goalkeeper to come.

When the goalkeeper, is he just touches it and takes the hit. What

he did badly there was he did not take the hit. Now you are angry I

have to move on! Let's check on the other title challengers and the

action yesterday, we start at the Emirates.

Here is a chance. Noone did brilliantly, how about that, from

nothing! Wending his way inside. 1-1. Wow.

A lovely pass, Djeko. Hooper trying to get back. Caulker, Jesus Navas,

Manchester City are in the lead again.

As soon as Manchester City picked it up and delivered like that, Cardiff

were in trouble. Lovely play again by Djeko. 2-1 Manchester City.

Yaya Toure. Powering on. Into Aguero, back again, that is the

finish. The way Cardiff were playing, Manchester City needed a

third. They have it through Yaya Toure.

103 goals already this season is phenomenal.

It is. I thought, I think they will take a

bit of beating. It is refreshing. They want to win the four trophies

which will be hard. How much credit do you give Arsenal

are digging out results? Look at the great partnerships in

Liverpool and Manchester City. Chelsea, there is no doubt about

it, Arsenal haven't got that sort of partnership in midfield. February

the 3rd, Manchester City against Chelsea. I can't see anyone stopping

them. Is that a decider for you? I

actually think it is between Manchester City and Arsenal, they

are the best two teams in the League at the moment. After watching

Chelsea today, I'm not sure they are in the same League.

They are in the same League! You have just broken Jose's roll on

being a pundit! The rest of yesterday 's's action

which included if you reunions. -- a few.
