Hello, two games, December's goal of the month, and more to come over the

next hour in the company of Kevin Kilbane and John Hart. Firstly the

London derby as Crystal Palace took on Chelsea at Selhurst Park, watched

by Jonathan Pearce. COMMENTATOR: Alan Pardew celebrating a year in

charge at Palace with 62 points from 37 games. Europe qualification form.

Lee Chung-Yong getting his first league start. Cabaye's suspension

adding to a damaging injury list. Wilfried Zaha playing his 200th game

for the club. Matic drops to the bench with Pedro. Guus Hiddink,

after his first win in charge. Palace looking for their first ever

league double against Chelsea. Chelsea side that have only picked

up six waypoints. Only Aston Villa and Sunderland have poorer waveform

this summer -- away points. So many Chelsea players have disappointed

this season. Palace Cross, Campbell getting between Zuma and Terry and

it came off Zouma. Awkward defending. It nearly came to

Campbell. Campbell and Zaha have started as a front two and Zaha gets

his shot away. Started with him very high, Zaha. Fabregas. Jedinak

pressurising Oscar. Let's see if Hazard can go up

through the gears. Seems to be limping a moment ago. Cutting

inside. Not sure if he has a muscular injury. Chelsea won't risk

it. Still plenty of support. The most atmospheric fans in the Premier

League, according to many neutrals. I'm sure many would disagree with

that statement. Terry leaving Azpilicueta with too much to do.

Campbell looks lively. Ward, who is taken down by Mikel. What will Kevin

Friend, the referee do here? Slippery surface. Free kick. The

referee has done OK here, just warning him. Hazard is going to have

to go off. He seemed to pull up with a groin injury early in the game. He

has tried to walk it off. A miserable afternoon for him. Lasting

just record of an hour. Two a quarter of an hour. A horrible

season for him so far. Lee with the free kick for Crystal Palace. Dealt

with by Mikel. Left footed, Puncheon swinging it away. Looking for the

head of Delaney. Comfortable catch for Courtois in the end. The

watchful Crystal Palace chairman and owner, Steve Parrish. Willian

playing it to the left-hand side. Pedro initially getting away from

his man who stuck with him. Well played, Ward. Not being bamboozled

at all. His eye on the ball, not the body movement. Good use of the ball

by Chelsea. Quick passing. Mikel, he was cod. -- he was caught. Oh, that

is bookable, I would think. I'm not sure Kevin Friend had a good view of

it but what you can't see, you can't give. Can't give it away there,

Chelsea could break. They might do now. Puncheon winning it back.

Lovely ball to the far post. Campbell! He should have done

better. Difficult surface, the ball slithering. You can see the standing

water but he should have done better. Lovely ball in, eluding them

all. Well played, Puncheon. He just needed to wrap his foot around it

and play it across the goal, flat. Conditions remind me of a League Cup

tie played here in January of 93, Frank Sinclair tried a backpass to

the keeper and the ball was stuck in the mud and Chris Coleman, the Welsh

manager, rattling it in. Palace winning 3-1 on that day. Trying to

thread it to Diego Costa, who is behind Delaney. Oscar, 1-0, Chelsea.

Ruthlessness from Chelsea on the break and that has been largely

missing all season. Diego Costa hasn't been making enough of those

runs into the channels. Delaney's are let him in. Sensibly pulled

back, Oscar arriving. Good thinking by Diego Costa. Lovely ball to him

but the mistake was horrible. The run from Oscar. Chelsea, 1-0 up at

Selhurst Park. Diego Costa scored here in the 2-1 win went Fabregas

was on the scoresheet. Palace, this team Varela to bit misshapen at

times, missing so many regulars. -- is a little bit misshapen.

Lee, low and hard. The wrong option. Hitting it low and hard on that

surface. No Crystal Palace striker has scored from free play in the

league this season. Injuries have blighted the likes of Gale, Wickham

is out. Azpilicueta on the drive, saved well. Good goalkeeping. Look

at the space. Lee switched off completely. Azpilicueta with the

drive. Really good stop. Great chest trap too. Really superb goalkeeping,

that. He dropped his left hand down onto it very quickly.

Fabregas on the right. Free kick given against Jedinak.

Willian will take it for Chelsea. Terrific with set pieces all season.

Can they put the game beyond Palace? The keeper was teased to come for

it, he didn't come and Zouma had a free header at the far post. Very

poor header. Fabregas, good football by Chelsea.

He took it away from his own team-mate. Pedro with the cross.

Dani's header. Not caring the lines and the keeper was scrabbling for it

-- clearing the lines. Cars Dann -- Dani. Zaha needs to take it early.

Courtois got the block on it. Added to Delaney's first half header,

that's the best they've had and he should have stored. -- scored.

Willian! Oh, a scorcher. Surely settling it. Just shy of the hour,

Chelsea leading 2-0 at Palace and that was a beauty. Moments after

Crystal Palace might have equalised at the other end, Chelsea have a

2-goal buffer. A good pass initially from Willian. Carrying an upfield

and he took the shot in his stride. Chelsea's Player of the Season

without a doubt. So much better, Chelsea, today. It looks like they

are on the way back. A long way to travel yet, but they are 2-0 up at

Palace. A miserable derby day, for Palace. Five London derby defeats in

six for them now. Oscar is ahead of Willian. Getting beyond his man,

testing the goalkeeper. Diego Costa has rattled in the third. It was the

decisive burst from Willian that did it. 3-0. Palace have been very poor.

Chelsea have been very good. He has deserved the goal, Diego Costa.

Going through the gears by Willian and the goalkeeper could only parry

the cross-shot. Trying to keep it out, surely Diego Costa's goal. Back

from suspension and he has done very well today. Satisfying day for Guus

Hiddink. Diego Costa, a great tackle. Delaney, whose mistake

brought about the first goal. He has atoned for that error with that

challenge. Pedro, turning beyond Ward.

Oscar, shaping to shoot, dummying to the left, well blocked by Scott Dann

and away by Joe Ledley. Chelsea have had three, and with a bit more luck

they could have had four or five. The fifth home defeat this season

for Crystal Palace. Fabregas felt he was fouled. Don't think he was.

Crossfield ball, aimed at Souare. Might have had a shot on goal. The

man with the Midas touch, Guus Hiddink, getting his first win since

returning for his second spell. Palace's unbeaten run of late comes

to an end. Chelsea, 3-0 winners. Are you the man with the Midas touch?

No, don't go over the top, it is the first win after a very worried

period. Two draws. The team needed this win desperately. The way that

they did I think was convincing. Your goal was a special one? Yes, a

special one... The ball coming, I think I have to shoot and then I

scored. Now we have to continue like we played today. Winning game by

game. We were beaten today because we tried to force the game that

wasn't our natural game. When you are missing key players, you are

going to try and do things. Really forcing staff that, as I said, was

against the way that we do things -- forcing stuff. This league has

become so strong, everyone can win. It is possible still but a long way

to go. This is a game where we wipe our nose and move onto the next one!

How pleasant! Guus Hiddink sent, don't go over the top, so don't, but

that was a bit more like it for Chelsea. In the early stages it was

quite close, very even but the goal certainly settled Chelsea. We saw a

more fluid performance especially from the front players. Diego Costa

was back to his best. These are the four players from the attacking

point of view who I thought were accident. Diego Costa with his

movement, Oscar and Fabregas. -- were excellent. Costa was doing the

things he was doing so often last season, recognising space behind the

defenders and running behind to get on the pass. Brilliant Fabregas pass

and he has the awareness to pick out Oscar. Look at Fabregas, looking

around, where of the space that Costa can exploit and it was a good

finish from Oscar. Willian, another one who has been outstanding for

Chelsea this season. He came into it in the second half. The ball played

into Oscar, it comes to him quite fortuitously and that was his

seventh goal from outside the box this season. Weird strike. He has

been their player Robbie says in -- brilliant strike.

So often this season we have been looking at Fabregas not passing

forward but this time an immediate forward pass. Delaney gets attracted

to Oscar. Then it puts him out of position ever so slightly and it

allows Willian to run the outside, it allows the freedom in behind and

Diego Costa gets his tapping. Overall that's what Chelsea can be

pleased with. Players that haven't performed this season, or

underperformed, were on it today. If you are Chelsea fan you are pleased

they are not under-performing but at the same time you must be asking why

they have been underperforming, when they played like that today? I think

that's the case. You look at the season, that's been the most

baffling thing about them. They have underperformed. Jose Mourinho wasn't

saying not to do those things. Some of the times even when the ball was

played in, everything was back to play, he wasn't making those runs

because players weren't impositions to play those balls through to him.

Fabregas ran to play more than any of his team-mates, he gained more

possession than any of his team-mates, yet he had a steadying

influence alongside him with Mikel. I thought Mikel has been out in the

cold for a while, he played very, very well today. I thought he was

solid in the middle of the park. Also I thought it was slightly

fortunate to stay on the pitch. You know, the first one, for all his

good work, you look at this one, it just gets very for him. That is for

me a booking. It doesn't get books for this. I think that's a booking.

It's a lunch, but this one, I've seen players get sent off for a lot

worse than that. You can clearly see this is a red card. It's a stamp,

there. I'm not so sure. He didn't get a yellow card for either of

those that support challenge. They do look worse in slow motion. It's

like the Wayne Rooney one, it's ever so slightly delayed full stop he

can't get the ball and he's going over the top, it's a bad one. Alan

Pardew said that Crystal Palace tried to force it and play a game

that wasn't necessarily their style. They lacked a bit of composure in

possession and the decision-making, they missed Cabaye and Bolasie, more

so Cabaye for me. He settle things down. He normally predominately

picks the right buses. This is James McArthur very early on in the game.

He made that past nine times out of ten, he over hits it. This comes

back to Jedinak, it's a long, hopeful ball up the pitch, thinking

can one other players get on the end of that. This time it comes into

Fraizer Campbell, who does well. This is Lee, who runs in the Chelsea

players. He can see water running down his right hand side and can

play him in. When Palace pressed, they played really well. They worked

ever so hard. Five Palace players around the Chelsea players there,

comes into McArthur, wasteful. Sort of gives it away. This time it's Lee

Chung-yong who wins the header, we know Puncheon has quality, real

quality. He should be carrying the ball forward, allowing his

team-mates to get into the box, giving them that bit of time to get

in there and then putting that ball into a decent area where they can go

and attack the goal. Decision-making, players doing the

wrong thing really. We know they've got more quality than this. Again,

that is Souare on the left. I have put the arrow in the angle where he

should be whipping that in. Where you would want to get on the end of

it. Coming into an ensuing, it's hit heavy over the goal. This sums it

up, really. Chamakh. That is Chamakh, lack of confidence, he

should be taking a touch. Instead he hits it first time and almost ends

up hits the corner flag. Woke up -- were they expected to win that,

given the where they are? You expect more from Crystal Palace, they have

gone six unbeaten. I know they were missing a couple of big players.

Bolasie gives them that pace and great technique that he has got.

Cabaye, but I still expected more from Crystal Palace. Deep down, Alan

Pardew says white your nose and get on with it. I think you'll be

slightly disappointed with the performance. That's what we're going

to do, we are going to wipe our nose and move on! Everton and Spurs to

come, after December's Goal of the Month, or if you are Shearer and

Wright, pass of the month. The chance for Ramsey to get the

ball. This is where Arsenal could hurt Villa on the break. Walcott,

what a ball. Ozil is completely and here and he has squared it to

Ramsey. It was so simple and it is 2-0 Arsenal. A devastating

counterattack, finished by Aaron Ramsey, who began it all with a

tackle at the other end. The cross comes in, deep to Mahrez.

Right in the six yard box. Lovely control. Mahrez turns, trying to

beat Azpilicueta. Double trouble for Chelsea! Leicester City two, Chelsea

nil. Guzan trying, what a goal. From

Ayew. Something out of nothing and something special from Jordan Ayew.

Hitting by Mutch, back out, Delaney tries shot and so does... Oh, what a

goal! A stupendous shot from Lee Chung-yong. He's only been on the

field for a few minutes and he struck it so well!

Koscielny steers a lovely shot through to Ozil. Here's the Walcott,

goes for goal! What a screamer! It's not a title decider but that is a

goal to grace any title occasion. Here is Sagna, back into Toure. A

lovely goal, lovely goal. Manchester City back in the game. Really well

worked and such a delicately placed finish.

Here is Bojan, straight into the wall. Arnautovic on the rebound.

Brilliant. Fantastic strike from Arnautovic. Whipping away from David

De Gea, who could not get close to it.

Burqa and, keeping Southampton on the front foot here. Carefully into

the box. -- Bertrand. Martyred away by Mertesacker. What a strike, Cuco

Martina, that's wonder strike. Outside of the right boot, curling

right into the corner of the net. Bojan has seen the run of Shaqiri,

who was offside. Good. He has gone for it first time. Goodness me, I

goal of real quality. Shaqiri takes place in his stride, beautifully

weighted, absolutely no chance for Tim Howard.

Ramsey, into Mozilla gains. Giroud, back to Ozil, it would be brilliant.

It's magnificent! A fine second Arsenal goal. Everything he touches

this season seems to turn to gold. That was a Golden Goal.

website. Next, the Goodison, where Everton in

patchy form despite Lukaku's 18 goals this season faced a Spurs side

with title winning ambitions. The question might have sounded a

bit far-fetched early on in the season. A slow, stuttering start.

Failing to win any of their opening four opening league games for the

first time since 2008. A visit to an out of form Sunderland Beazer --

gave them the boost they needed, even putting four past the big boys,

Manchester City. The goals kept coming, their most able coming into

his own. Is fine scoring form. Can they continue their winning ways and

theft climb to the top? Martin is's Everton stand in the way, but who

knows what Pochettino's men are capable of. Your commentator is Guy

Spurs are more than capable and so are Everton on their day, on some of

us they don't seem to know what day it is. It's time for the Toffees to

consistently realise their potential. Leighton Baines returns

to their starting line-up along with Tom Cleverley, passed fit after

coming on and limping off against Stoke last Monday, and there is a

start for Aaron Lennon against a side he played ten years for. On the

bench, Phil Jagielka ripped begins his return from a knee injury that

has kept in out since October. Spurs are without Dembele, injured,

but in. Places do for Walker and Davies as Trippier and Rose. The

substitute. The rain has not stopped but it has eased considerably.

Everton have only got a win in their last -- once in the last half a

dozen games. A really good tackle from Coleman to prevent Dele Alli

from giving Spurs the lead. Back came out of nothing. Just a little

passage of Spurs passing, and they were in. Picked up nicely by Walker.

Everybody bar Coleman. Everton's situation as -- is not as desperate

as some have been painting in recent weeks. They are at the moment five

points better off than they were at the same stage a year ago. No way

past Vertonghen. Dele Alli now. He was caught in a Baines and Cleverley

sandwich. A free kick for Spurs. Alli stays down and lets his

team-mates get on with the game. He has gone for it, what are shot by

Harry Kane. How beaten and Goodison Park held its breath as the ball

bounced across the face of goal. How about this the confidence? Just have

a look and has the one side, and hits that almost perfectly -- he has

the one sight of it. Almost too straight. Talk is growing of a

possible Spurs title challenge. If they can sustain their current form,

it is on for them. Down for Lennon and Lennon beats

Lloris. Everton's first chance of the game, their first attack of the

game, and they have scored with it! Aaron Lennon, the player who put on

a Spurs shirt 364 times in a decade at the club has scored against them.

Lukaku is onside. It's a lovely knock back the Lennon. But he had an

awful lot to do there. What a cracking job. Lovely control,

perfect connection. Everton one, Tottenham Hotspur nil. That really

is out of the blue. Prior to the Lennon shot there had only been one

team in the game and it wasn't Everton.

It is jinked past Ben Davies. Looks for Kone. The crowd urge Barkley to

shoot, but it was never on. He does better than that by working it out

to Leighton Baines. Everton have come alive.

The Latin way of celebrating New Year, advising his players to add

enjoy New Year's Eve until 11pm, and in bed by five past 11. He is

looking for Walker, not a great touch by Kone. It has gifted

Tottenham a corner. It has a cup tie feel this. In from Eriksen, or

rather, out from Eriksen, out to Davies. What a hesitant ball that

was. Davies has yet to score his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur.

That would have been some way to do it. January is here. You normally

expect Spurs to be one of the busier clubs in the transfer window. I'm

not sure whether Daniel Deavin -- weathered the Daniel Levy will

splash the cash this time. Pochettino is saying it might be a

better decision not to bring players in, we are happy with the squad we

have got. Offside James Coleman. I can see right across the line, but

he is not looking for that line, he's looking for the past, added

time at the end of a pretty nonstop first half. Two more Bennett minutes

to play. A chance for Spurs here. Dele Alli is onto it. A goal for

Spurs. A superbly taken goal as well. One simple ball through the

middle. Dele Alli had read it and anticipated it just a split second

quicker than Seamus Coleman dead. Stayed ahead of Colback, look at

this full control of the ball and an execution of the finish. Absolutely

brilliant. Everton one, Tottenham Hotspur one. Happy New Year is a

particularly true expression for Spurs. They have won their opening

Premier League game of the year in each of the last five seasons.

Halfway through this one they will be wondering why they are not

leading at Goodison Park. Alli, beautifully done. Kane.

Brilliant birds build up, luck and bad for a touch from Dele Alli. --

brilliant Spurs. Forced wide bite Stones. Roy Hodgson will be licking

his lips, the way that Kane and Dele Alli are linking up, looking ahead

to next summer. Eriksen's drive was straight at Howard. Relentless

Spurs. Dangerous with every attack. This has been the place to come for

entertainment this season. Not always an Everton victory, 41 goals

conceded in ten games before this campaign.

Stout stuff from Ben Davies who wasn't deceived by the step overs.

Two substitutions made by Martinez not very long ago, making a positive

difference to Everton's play. Deulofeu and Besic, off the bench

and into the action and doing very well. Trying to help it over.

Everton getting it away. That was Cleverley. Deulofeu, the obvious

ball is Baines wide. He doesn't do the obvious. Great ball, it was too

high for Lukaku but whipped in brilliantly. At the stage of the

game where Everton are giving as good as they've been getting.

Nobody in blue in the box yet. Barkley not able to get the ball

into the box yet. Now they are there.

No pressure on Carroll. Superb save from Lloris. I think that maybe his

first of the game. It was a poor header from Alderweireld and then a

really bad one from Carroll. That was dipping in from Bilic. Great

barons from ays it's -- from his itch. -- from Besic.

Stones was coming in behind. Funes Mori managed to hold off the

attentions of Eric Dier to get that one almost on target. Where is the

winner coming from? Which team is going to score it? Stones's header.

Funes Mori was leaving it to Baines and vice versa. If Everton concede

another goal in the last minute of a half of football, Martinez will be

livid. Through to Kane. Collecting it and

somehow keeping it. Doesn't get a free kick for that and it is

Everton's turn to break. Lukaku against Vertonghen and Lloris. The

shot was up into the stands. He got the ball as he wanted it but

Vertonghen wasn't going to budge out of his way. Belgian against Belgium.

Frustration for the Spaniard in charge. Two minutes of added time,

one more to go. There might be time for both teams to settle for what

they've got. Dier, it is opening up for Spurs again. Kane was a bit too

casual and it is three against two. Barkley is the man on the left. It

is on for Lukaku. Vertonghen stops him. Saved by Lloris. Cleared by

Alderweireld. What a game we've seen. Goodison

Park really is the home of Premier League entertainment right now, even

if the crowd somehow get -- sometimes get frustrated that the

team is not rewarded for their efforts. They went in front, having

been outplayed at that stage, Aaron Lennon against his old club. Spurs

getting the deserved equaliser on half-time thanks to Dele Alli. Then

it was anybody's game, a great advert for the Premier League. I

think we saw two very good teams who wanted to play in a very similar

manner. In the first half we gave the ball took Spurs a bit too much

but we had good defensive intensity. -- to Spurs. A shot from distance

from Harry Kane and a corner hitting the crossbar, but we were looking

more threatening. We scored a very good goal. It was hard to take the

moment when we conceded, before half-time. The most important aspect

was how they reacted in the second half, the players were immense and

probably frustrated at certain moments that we could have got and

maybe deserved the winner. The first half was one of the best 45 minutes

that we've played so far. Fantastic football. We had control of the

game. And the chance to score. A bit unlucky. In the second half, in the

last 15 minutes maybe Everton had the game a bit. We need to feel

proud of our players. When you are dominating the game as we did in the

first half, you know that the chances are going to come and I took

it today. There were many chances and we could have scored three or

four. It is one of those games, that is what football is all about. We

have to work on the negatives and take the positives in the next game.

Frustration that goals are being conceded at home but is this the

Everton Way, entertaining at all costs? It is the way we have been

recently, we try and be creative going forwards. Unfortunately we

have been conceding goals recently. We are working on that and trying to

correct it. We conceded one today which we are disappointed about but

going in the right direction. Entertaining game to watch, wasn't

it. But none were very good, Pochettino said it was probably the

best 45 minutes he's seen this season. One thing that Martinez

stressed, how good they were defensively, better organised to

nullify the threat. Bringing are Nallen -- Aaron Lennon worked today.

Several players in that position, but Lennon, special goal against his

former club. Lukaku does great, Lennon coming off the line,

anticipating that Lukaku is strong in the air and is going to win it.

What technique, the half volley. Lloris, no chance. Fantastic strike

and fully justified Martinez starting with him. It changed the

dynamic around, Tottenham were playing well. When he brought an

Deulofeu, I think he made a difference to Everton. He's one of

those players who has spells when he is unstoppable sometimes. That goes

with his performances this season, he has been good at times, in short

spurts. He gets defenders on the back foot, they backed off into the

penalty area. One thing he has added his awareness to pick out the pass.

Besic, I think he started dominating midfield and he had a good spell

when he came on. He has had impact coming off the bench. I don't think

he has done enough when Roberto has given him the start. What I've seen

from a view Everton players over the last couple of years, impact from

the bench but when they have been given a start to show what they are

capable of, they haven't been consistent. Looking at the option in

his squad, not all players are in the same position, different stages

of their career and may have injuries, and a couple of others we

can add to that. Nobody is really standing up and saying, pygmy

regularly? Deulofeu is probably the only one who has started

consistently -- pygmy regularly. -- kick me

They haven't been able to play ten, 15 games regularly. Is that down to

the manager to say to the player, you are my man for the next few

games, or is it down to the player to make sure that you can't leave

them out? The second one, definitely for me. You have to make sure that

you are doing enough so that the manager can't leave you out. You

have to take your chance. At that level. Martinez spoke in his post

match interview about how disappointing it was to concede when

they were waiting for the half-time whistle but that is their Achilles

heel. Nine goals conceded at the end of the half of play. Tottenham were

so good in the first half. Everton nullifying the threat through the

half. Looking at it today, in the first half, Seamus Coleman on the

attack. He was caught offside and then he has to filter back into

position from such a high position. He folded back nicely because

Tottenham don't attack immediately. Not a quick free kick. He gets goals

side. Gareth Barry recognising that Dele Alli is in advance of him,

Coleman sees that and gets goals side and he's in a good position. At

this moment he is in a good position. The back line is in a good

position as a four. But that is a great ball from Aldo are -- from

Alderweireld. Coleman hesitated, allowing Dele Alli to get the run on

him and that is a brilliant finish. Outstanding finish from a brilliant

midfielder. We saw this less than a month ago. Alderweireld, into Dele

Alli with the diagonal run and that again is a brilliant finish, at West

Brom. The beginning of December. Sometimes you have to say it was a

great ball, great run and a great finish. It is just a great goal. You

can't be too critical of the Everton defence, it was a brilliantly worked

goal and Dele Alli is one of the form midfielders in the Premier

League. You wanted to see this as a battle between Kane and Lukaku.

Didn't work out that way, 31 goals between them this season meaning

that the defences had to be on their guard. I thought that Alderweireld

and Vertonghen were outstanding today and this is why. Standing up

strong. Predominantly Lukaku played on the left-hand side, an

Vertonghen. This time, Lukaku, who can believe most centre-backs in the

Premier League, Vertonghen was adding up to him and wouldn't put up

with it. -- standing up to him. I thought he really shackled Lukaku

well today. This is Kane at the other end, very unfortunate not to

have scored. Can't believe that hasn't gone in, off the inside.

Neither could he, he was celebrating! This time, Spurs

breaking with Davies, great from Dele Alli and I think that Kane will

feel that he let it bounce when he should have been striking it on the

way down, not off his chest. What about that, John Stones. Match

saving tackle, throwing everything at the ball, brilliant block. Six

English midfielders on display. Three central midfielders of both

teams. Encouraging, for an Irishman and a Welshman? Don't know why I'm

asking you! Encouraging for the Premier League. More home-grown

players and a credit to both managers that they are giving them a
