I would be insulting Leicester City if I described this as a title six

pointer but it is the biggest Premier League clash of the season

and will have a major bearing. Will defeat terminally undermine Manuel

Pellegrini's position given that quality owner is waiting in the

cleverly positioned, cut inside and Manchester City let him get the shot

away. That was their undoing. Fifth goal of the campaign for Walcott.

The third he has scored against Manchester City in his career and

Arsenal, cagey in winning away in January when they played cat and

mouse, have done it again. The 14th assist of the season for Ozil.

Campbell has to cut that out, he has done that three or four times in the

game, doesn't need to do that. Giroud beats Joe Hart! And Arsenal

lead Manchester City 2-0! Giroud again, 13 in 16 matches now for him.

15 goals in all this season for the Frenchman. Arsene Wenger says he has

the ability to be one of the best strikers in Europe and that is a top

finish and that second goal for Arsenal could mean they may finish

ahead of Manchester City. Lovely ball into him. Away from Otamendi

and through the legs of Joe Hart, poor defending from Manchester City.

Walcott was bundled over by De Bruyne. Just clumsy.

Campbell! That would have made the game safe for Arsenal.

points. So improved this season but he has only got a couple of goals

still. That is so silly from Aaron Ramsey, he has fouled his man. That

is where Arsenal can get caught out, if they get to clock sure at the

Giroud didn't know that Fernandinho was coming. That's a freekick.

Campbell has had two opportunities now to make the game safe. Joe Hart

Toure dived, that is very poor. Raheem Sterling flung himself to the

ground, there was contact but he flung himself to the ground.

Jesus Navas for Manchester City. For the first time in the game, Monreal

got it wrong. Jesus Navas got it wrong, he might have gone for goal

himself. Lacked confidence to do so. They won't have many more chances

now, Manchester City. It's a real worry for them when they are behind

in conditions like this in big games, do they have the heart to get

back into it? Do they have the resolve they used

to have? Lovely goal, lovely goal. Manchester

City, back in the game, and just when he looked as if he were

struggling, Yaya Toure, Petr Cech will have to wait to create the

Premier League record for clean sheets. City are back in the game.

With nine minutes to go. Really well worked, and such delicately placed

finish. That is a fantastic skill. Beautiful goal for Yaya Toure, his

first since October. A big moment! In this title race. He

has come strong in the last ten minutes, Yaya Toure, and he did

surge through there. But he poked it wide. He will feel that Manchester

City have done enough to get a point. Look at that lady there with

the Father Christmas hat, hands on her mouth. Who would be a football

fan? It is back into the middle, it comes

to Sagna of all people. A goal kick is given. Giroud has hurt himself,

that's a problem with his knee. He made contact with the ball, but look

at the way the Manchester City player flings himself to the ground.

One last attack for Arsenal to push away. They don't need to, the final

whistle has gone. It won't settle the title, it is far too early for

that. It is a huge statement victory, this.

It was a very intense game with both teams giving absolutely everything.

Certainly they had more possession but Yaya Toure is dangerous. Our

organisation worked well and of course we have got a great goal in

the first half. Unfortunately we couldn't finish the game in the

second half, and when it came back to 2-1 we became a bit shaky but our

spirit pushed us through. How do you feel about that? I think we played

better, especially in the first half. When we had the possession, we

had a clear option before the beautiful goal, but the second goal

I think we made an important mistake. In the second half we took

more and more risks. I think we take a lot of chances, create more

possession, more shots on target and out of target but in these important

games you cannot make mistakes. The players that don't normally do a

defensive job, everyone was there today. Everyone has worked

tremendously hard and those three points are massive achievement.

Recently we had our backs to the wall when we went to Olympiacos, but

in an encouraging way today we have done it again today so that shows we

have a very strong spirit, exceptional, there is life in the

team, you see that from outside, and we want to take care of that.

What did you make of that? Supposedly the best two teams in the

league. When you get to December, for instance Chelsea last year, you

think they are going to win the league, they were beating everyone,

but this game tonight, Manchester City started the game well, but

Arsenal made mistakes and City finished the game well. At the

moment it is anyone's league but Arsenal are the most consistent team

at the moment. Theo Walcott spoke about digging in, you noticed that,

you spotted the digging in and the organisation. There is definitely a

growing belief and majority in this team. It is about keeping a good

shape, and be ineffective on the break. Everyone is buying into that.

That's what they've done recently against Olympiacos, they did it

against Bayern as well earlier in the season. It's not easy for this

group to do this because their natural instinct is to get on the

ball and attacked but there was a really good discipline and it is

growing. It is an education for this team to grow. Last season their game

against Monaco was a big disappointment. Are you all right,

by the way? Is this cold air getting to you? It was a crucial 80 seconds

in that first half when Manchester City could have gone ahead and then

Arsenal went down the other end and took the lead. They should have gone

ahead, it was de Bruyne involved. The ball up to Aguero, brilliant

lay-off. Look at David Silva. He is in a better place to score the goal,

he would have had a tap in. He didn't, selfishly he went for the

goal, he missed, David Silva wasn't happy. 73 seconds later, there's

three Arsenal players, a brilliant pass from Koscielny. There's three

Arsenal players there, Walcott, Ozil and Monreal. Sagna ended up scoring

a great goal. Once Arsenal get the chance to overload after that

defending, they can punish you with a tremendous finish. You have got to

credit Mertesacker for his position. His lack of pace, his position was

good, and Bellerin gets back quickly but I still feel he should have

passed. You must both have been in situations in your career where you

have made a mistake that has led to a goal and then it has affected you.

I'm trying to be as complimentary as I can! Has that affected you for the

next 40 minutes? It is how you recover from it and you need to show

some character. And that happened to man --

man Mangala. I think when you make mistakes the next thing you have got

to do is do it simple. He has a simple pass, he gives it away. In

this moment, there was a 15 minute period where he lost control,

discipline and concentration. I cannot believe he is not getting

that quicker. He is just leaving them with so much space. This is

literally just a clearance. What is he doing? Be calm, short and stay

behind your opponent. Wait for the game to come to you but he

overplays. Is this just a quirk of fate, this next statistic - against

Stoke they scored with their first two shots on target, and the same

thing happened with three other games. Is that a mental thing that

when you concede one it takes a while to recover? That is there away

form this season. Without a win since September. You start looking

at these teams, which one is going to be champion, it is still

difficult to call but Arsenal have come away from this believing they

are better than Manchester City. Manuel Pellegrini said, we have had

our chances. Arsenal were on their back foot thanks to Yaya Toure. With

the substitution of Campbell going off and Gibbs coming on, that is

when Arsenal shut up shop. I always think there will be space behind him

defensively, but in this mood here is on stoppable. That is a

sensational strike by a brilliant midfield player. He's saying look at

what I can do, he still has tremendous quality. He did drive

them on. Manchester City came back at Arsenal which makes it difficult

to call this. There's a lot of games to go. I know that, but if you were

going to put a bet on, who would you put a bet on for the title? I think

Arsenal are now looking... Let's not discount Leicester. If you are

saying City are still in the race, then you have got to say Palace and

Tottenham are in it as well. It's really very open but Arsenal are now

looking very confident. I think on paper you have got to say Manchester

City should win the league. They have the best squad but at the

moment they are not showing that kind of form, so for me it is

between Arsenal, and Leicester are playing well. Arsenal? I didn't say

Arsenal. On paper, Manchester City but Arsenal at this moment in time

are the favourites. Is that offence they are sitting on? Last time

Watford beat Liverpool at Vicarage Road was back in 1986 with John

Barnes who then went on to play for Liverpool. John Murray was there to

watch this one. While Leicester topped the Premier

League tales of the unexpected, Watford are not far behind them.

Indeed they are still looking down the table at Liverpool. Watford are

unchanged after their third consecutive win last weekend. There

is a Liverpool Premier League debut for their goalkeeper.

Sakho, and he has given it away. That was an awkward piece of

defending. He has won a corner. Excellent

persistence from Ake, and it is the first corner of the match. Nathan

Ake on loan from Chelsea, one of the Chelsea legions. Immediately putting

Bogdan under pressure, and Nathan Ake has converted it, and in the

first three minutes of his Premier League debut for Liverpool that is a

bad error for Bogdan. Look, he had it in his hands there. He has

grabbed it and Ake has kicked it out of his hands. The question is, did

he have it under control? It looked to me like it was secure in between

the goalkeeper's gloves. So Bogdan has a right to have complained about

it. Dangerous, but close enough to

Gomez. Regulation safe. Liverpool have failed to win in their last

three matches and here they are, 1-0 down. All of a sudden, Liverpool,

for Jurgen Klopp, slightly trying times. Ighalo is in! 2-0 and Ighalo

scores again, his 11 of the season. There is simply no keeping him down.

It is the Deeney Ighalo combination again. And he knows where the goal

is, doesn't he? This means he has scored in four consecutive matches

now. Ighalo is there, but Deeney as ever is not far away from him.

Together they have scored 16 goals this season. This could go

anywhere... Liverpool fortunate, and that was not convincing. Bogdan had

to keep that out. That is crazy defending, but Bogdan deserves

credit for that. There's no doubt he has been unsettled. The offside flag

is up. Liverpool have put together more than twice as many passes as

Watford in the match, but there has been a notable lack of decisive

passes, killer passes you might call them. Deeney has won the corner.

Skrtel, it would seem, has got to leave the field. A like-for-like

replacement would be Toure. It was blocked by the goalkeeper, went

through a number of players at the near post, and Bogdan did well.

Ighalo... An important moment, Bogdan with the save. For once,

Ighalo is not able to make them pay. The slip from Sakho, but Ighalo will

feel he should have made it 3-0. Gomez comes to the rescue. That is

Liverpool's clearest opportunity. If Liverpool are going to rescue this,

they are going to need a goal soon. Lovely touch to Deeney. And in

Carlow! -- Ighalo! And that finishes it! Excellent play from Watford.

Vicarage Road celebrates. It is a famous victory against Liverpool,

the first time Watford have beaten them in the 21st century. It is the

hapless Sakho who was playing Ighalo onside in the middle, easy as pie

this time. What a good win. He knows there is no coming back for

Liverpool. I tried to repeat that we are trying to improve, to be a new

team, so it's just the beginning. Today we played really well, it was

an amazing victory against an amazing team like Liverpool. We have

to think about the next challenge after today. If you watch the TV, he

had it under control, but that's not the biggest thing, it should not be

allowed, this goal, he should not drop the ball, that's clear. That

was a mistake for the referee, because he didn't see it, but the

bigger mistake was a reaction to this goal. We're going to plan the

matches, we never underestimate teams, so I think this is the way

until the last moment, we have the dream but we have two keep at it.

Four consecutive wins now for Watford for the first time since

April 1987, would you go along with Jurgen Klopp and say the first goal

should have been disallowed? I agree with him, once the goalkeeper has it

in his hands, you can't go near him, I know he fumbles it, the referee is

not well placed, he's a long way away but when we slow it down, you

will see that he does have the ball in his hands, you have to feel sorry

for him, it's an important goal to concede. I think he kicks his hand

and he spills it. It's definitely a foul on Bob Dem, he has taken a lot

of stick since the game, I felt sorry for him, but clearly, the

player kicked through his hand and it should have been disallowed. That

was a mistake but they also made lots of mistakes. With a prompted

into some mistakes? You're going to speak about another French

centre-half! You think Watford targeted Sakho? I think there are

similarities in their performance on Saturday. Ighalo, who was

magnificent, is his mate, he should be clearing that, and he invites

trouble early in the game. It never got much better frame. Head it with

calmness! We get this panic with defenders. His mate doesn't help him

here, he should do better, eventually goes off, but they don't

look settled at the back. Know your limitations, know what you can do,

you certainly can't do that! What has happened in the last five years,

every team in Europe plays with one centre forward and I think this

season we have seen a bit of a change, teams are going with two up,

and centre-backs don't know how to handle playing up against two Centre

forwards. And Deeney and Ighalo were fantastic, they didn't give Sakho an

inch on the ball, they put him under pressure every time he went forward.

Deeney was the revelation of the championship last season, if you

have confidence and believe in yourself, you can have an impact

even in the Premier League. It is still rare to find two upfront in

the Premier League, though stop Leicester, Watford, but there aren't

many. I think you will see more because defenders don't like it. In

60% of teams play for 4-2, I would say. It is quite common now. I think

it's destructive. You are playing against two, you get no respite, it

used to be you have some coming from late, now you are occupied. Who

would you rather play against? I would sooner play against one

striker. It slipped away from our game, I know that you see Theo

Walcott may as a white player, we saw that with Joel Campbell, you can

play with front players in wide positions, they naturally want to

get in. How did you get Arsenal into this chat? Just some praise for A.

When he was at Tottenham, didn't quite fancy him, thought he had a

bad attitude, but yesterday I thought he was fantastic, ATM A. He

was fantastic, calm, composed, controlled the game, he disrupted

the Liverpool midfield, and when he won the ball, he joined in with

attacks as well and was a constant threat. In this third goal, he had

to win the ball twice. They ended up scoring a goal and with that kind of

play, Watford had a fantastic start to the season. Swansea City are

still without a manager after sacking Garry Monk so Alan Curtis

took charge for the second time when they took on West Ham.

There were sufficient positives in defeat against Manchester City to

convince caretaker boss Alan Curtis that changes want essential. He

makes just one enforced, as buffeting the Gomez replaces the

start for the Hammers, on a ground where he scored before, when

victorious with Everton. As the quest for Garry Monk's replacement

against a side whose best results have come on their travels.

It wouldn't be against the run of play at all if Swansea were to take

the lead here. West Ham have done little other than try to repel them.

here. West Ham quite simply are there for

the taking. Swansea all over them, this is the best chance they have

by Cork. -- a terrific hit. He was a long-time player at this club. He

has certainly seen a real response from his players since the departure

of Garry Monk. You just since the opening goal might be in the offing

now. Claims it was a handball that stopped it going into the net, Lee

Mason is unmoved. Ki hits it, Collins Roxette, it is with the arm

but could he have got it out of the way? Surely not. The more you see

it, the more you think it should have been a penalty. Collins holds

his head after having blocked it with the arm. If Swansea don't get

three points from this game, they will be ruling the fact they haven't

fashioned enough openings. They are in complete control of this game and

West Ham really are doing nothing other than occupying space in front

And though West Ham have been in the final third for the final game,

Valencia almost pinches the opening goal. -- in their final third.

Swansea next face West Brom at home on Boxing Day, they are never easy

to break down, Sigurdsson tried, it took a deflection, it's a corner.

Gomis, almost in. Adrian came out, this time Gomis timed his run and

was onside. It looks as though centre may have

missed out Swansea City this time. I thought we played well in terms of

possession, we looked like Swansea City teams have been the last couple

of seasons. Possibly lacked a cutting edge up front. But I said a

few weeks ago when that injuries hit us big time, I said, it is the only

way that we can compensate this loss of the players, with teamwork and

all that and that's exactly what we have done in the last three games.

Three games, clean sheet, three points, I am going to praise the

guys. The important thing is we find the right man. If it takes a bit

longer, so be it but from the club's point of view, it would probably be

advisable to bring somebody in that we will carry on as long as it

takes. Clean sheet for Swansea for the first time since September, the

negative is only Stoke and Aston Villa have scored fewer stop however

going to get Gomis firing? They need to get him firing, as with

Sigurdsson, they need to start scoring, and they need to start

playing to his strengths. He prefers the ball in front of him, running

into the space, he thrives on crosses and opposition defences are

just dropping off and stopping the space in behind, when the ball gets

rolled into him, I don't top-quality to conjure something up out of

nothing. Space is like this, this is what he thrives on, the space in

front of him. For Swansea, they are not creating enough chances. They

tried to have Ayew closer to him, would it help the play 4-4- two. At

the start of the season, Monteiro, Sigurdsson, they were playing well

but they have lost their way. But if you were down at the bottom, you

have Newcastle looking over your shoulder, you know perhaps they have

a better group of players but they need to start switching on and make

a decision on a new manager. Was this a penalty for you?

He stays down. Suddenly he is rubbing his head. I think he is just

being professional there but he didn't need to do it. You are

praising his experience for holding the back of his head? For me, I

think he thinks he has given a handball. He is being professional,

is that what you would say? West Ham, three clean sheets on the trot,

but they haven't won since October. Yes, but Bilic will be more than

happy. He will want to see more improvement in the second half of

the season. Of course the football doesn't stop over the Christmas

period, the usuals shows are back over the Christmas period.

There is one bit of serious news this evening, the former Newcastle

goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has had a cardiac arrest and we all wish him a

full recovery. Nathan Redmond, Cameron Jerome to

his right hand side, and he has found him. And he scores! Cameron

Jerome has put Norwich City in front of Man United at Old Trafford. It is

2-0 to Norwich, and Tettey has doubled their lead. Why does it

always rain on me, as the song goes. Can he did it out? He can! And the

referee blows his whistle, and Norwich City have their first

victory at Old Trafford for 26 years, and where does this leave

Louis van Gaal and Manchester United?

The fans at Stamford Bridge standing up for the special one, that is the

chant. The message is clear, they are unhappy about this week's

decision. That will stop them thinking about the special one! It

was a special header. Ivanovich into the box, it ricochets away, and put

away! Chelsea are 2-0 ahead, and they have given the interim manager

just what he wanted to see. He wins a penalty. There was the nudge from

the arm into the midriff. That was a perfect way for Chelsea to bounce

back after this week's events. It is in, they have won back!

-- one back! Referee thinks the Japanese player has been brought

down. He beats Howard. But as far into the corner as it would go, the

party continues. A chance for Cleverley, now Berkeley... Saved by

Schmeichel, off the line. Three goes at it, and in. Jamie Vardy is in

again, and it will be a penalty, the second Leicester penalty of the

game, and from the spot for the second time today... Same result.

1-2, and two more in the bag. 3 for Leicester! Jamie Vardy makes the

goal. The Foxes are in control. Lukaku with the turn. That is in,

there is hope for Everton! Look at that for a short, first time, no

messing. It is time for the Leicester City fans to cheer

Christmas with their side on top of the Barclays Premier League.

Those games were of course on Saturday but tomorrow's papers still

reflecting them. If we take a look at the Daily Express, right at the

top saying Jose Mourinho is lined up for Old Trafford, the Daily Mirror

is claiming Alex Ferguson will be instrumental in deciding the next

manager. Are we in unchartered waters here in the sense that both

Jose Mourinho and Guardiola are looking for clubs either now or in

the summer? I am in the game now and I think it is disrespectful when

managers still have the job and other managers are being talked

about for their job. Swansea sacked Garry Monk after having a great

season last year, they haven't found a replacement yet. If you are going

to sack someone, at least avarice -- have a replacement. This respect

from where? There is player unrest, all sorts going on, and I just think

I hope Manchester United give Louis van Gaal until the end of the season

because he has the experience and I hope there is more respect for

managers. If you look at the anger from the Chelsea fans, it was the

players that got Jose Mourinho sacked. It was the result. The

pressure that he causes, he is out of a job and sitting in the wings.

Manchester United might be a perfect pick for him. The board should

consider that. Is Louis van Gaal the man to consider? When a good manager

like that is available, of course everybody wants to go for him. Here

is the rest of Saturday's action. Two clubs here who, in their

different ways, want to get back on track. Harry Kane runs on, Harry

think that's a result of the previous refereeing decision not to

give Maclean a free kick. It is a red card! The referee clearly felt

there was enough in that challenge. Awful. Well taken by the full-back.

Oh! What a goal! The first past was wonderful, but what about the shot!

Bournemouth take the lead that they richly deserve. It was certainly

McCauley with the header on. It came off the inside of the post, wouldn't

you know it. Gosling... Gosling! Penalty. Fletcher the culprit. Was

it inside? Charlie Daniels, the left full-back, has a chance to score. He

cracked it in on the underside of the crossbar. Good challenge. He

went in with his head first there. In big trouble here, completely lost

it. One minute of added time. Palace

goal for Crystal Palace, and on the stroke of half-time. Was there a

handball there inside the penalty area? The referee says yes, and

Stoke City are awarded a penalty kick. He has the chance to level it

up... And he has. The goalkeeper bangs his fist in frustration, he

nearly had that. Oh! What a goal! Is -- it is a

stupendous shot, and a real body blow for Stoke City.

Really good, the first four months were eventful, our performances in

the league were not great, but from a personal point of view Valencia is

a wonderful City. I'm really enjoying learning the language, the

family are settled, and the football is unbelievable. The climate is

great and now I've got big brother as my boss! And is that great as

well? It is good. I have more responsibility and it is a brilliant

learning curve. Now I am having to take most of the coaching, helping

Gary with the language and developing even quicker. So you're

helping him really? I'm assisting him! Let's take a look at the final

Premier League table before Christmas. Arsenal's victory over

Manchester City moves them four clear of Manuel Pellegrini's side.

If you take a look at the bottom of the table, Aston Villa are ten

points adrift of safety. Swansea and Sunderland also need to show some
