Oh, that is wonderful. An absolute belter.

What a term, what a goal. Look at that -- what a

good evening, the battle for Champions League places is the focus

tonight, plus the April goal of the month, a trip to Burnley and the

rest of the week's action. Martin Keown and Phil Neville have, angry

face to angry face and a good few Arsenal and Manchester United

clashes that is where we start. Today's meeting at The Emirates was

six against fifth am quite a contrast to matches of the past.

Winners. Losers. Could you have written the script here? United have

put eight past Arsenal. Moments of genius. Henry, what a goal. Ryan

Giggs has scored a sensational goal. A big moment for Arsenal. But a

title decider no more. Defeat is becoming humiliation for Manchester

United. This is a side that have not just stopped believing in Arsene

Wenger, they have stopped believing in each other. Manchester United

held again. There will always be grudges, North against South. London

against Manchester. It is always personal.

Not since 1979 have both clubs finished outside the top four, where

once they dined at the top table in the Premier League, they are feeding

off the scraps of Champions League qualification antedates's losers

will surely be starved of either mad. Danny Welbeck is brought in for

his sixth league start this season -- starved of that. Dan holding

side. Last year Arsenal blew Manchester United away in the

opening 20 minutes or so. Michael Carrick suffered back-to-back

defeats to Arsenal in 2001. Here is Sanchez. Quick to it. De Gea dropped

down low. Alexis Sanchez needs to improve his scoring record against

the teams above Arsenal in the table, just one goal in nine

meetings against teams above the Gunners. No longer title rivals,

then Dan Marino, all that is forgotten, it seems. -- Arsene

Wenger and Jose Mourinho. Back in the side after another injury,

Jones. Martial. Good save by Petr Cech.

Lovely ball infield. Rooney's pass was astute. He prodded the shot away

with power. Nice, flowing start to the game. Lacking in the intensity

of the old clashes between the two. Ramsey, who has gone to the right.

Sanchez, picking out Aaron Ramsey. Lovely saved by David de Gea. It has

been a stretched opening eight minutes of the game. Lovely ball by

Alexis Sanchez. Good run by Ramsey, hitting it across goal, low and

fierce. A good reaction save. Manchester United are run beaten in

25 top-flight games. -- unbeaten. But they have drawn 15. Mick Atari

and is in the middle. Not a good ball. -- Victorian.

A rather clumsy effort to bring him down. Going direct to Mick Taree. --

Mick Taree. Our Oxlade-Chamberlain will take it.

Holding it up for the back, mum Ray al in there. It is loose. Welbeck,

trying to get the shot away. Phil Jones takes it out for a corner.

Suddenly we have noise. Good defending by Phil Jones. He must

know his future and he said he would announce it in March or April, and

he admitted this week it was a mistake to hint at an announcement.

The uncertainty has not helped Arsenal, that is for sure. Sanchez.

He sees the run of Ramsey, behind Jones. Ramsey is too strong.

Welbeck. Another important intervention. Smalling got the

block. Creativity and vision by Sanchez and strength by Ramsey.

Stout defending saved Manchester United. Arsenal have their fifth

corner. Towards Koscielny, just a bit high. Sanchez, lovely ball back

in and Ramsey arriving. Jones has to relieve the pressure. Good work by

Ozil to keep it in. Sanchez. Good spell for Arsenal, their best of the

game. Ramsey in a bit of space. Gibbs digs it out to

Oxlade-Chamberlain. Method Ozil. Oxlade-Chamberlain will go. Parried

by De Gea. Arsenal are beginning to create.

Ramsey could not stretch enough. De Gea saw this from a long way off. It

did fear in the air. Decent goalkeeping. Has to be on his toes.

Romero was preferred in Spain in the week. Rooney has got in behind

Koscielny. And Petr Cech has saved Arsenal from a nightmare goal.

Holding dropped the backpass short and Koscielny was hesitant. Petr

Cech wasn't, and that is why Rooney was denied. Good chances missed at

both ends. Someone make a tackle. A Sunday

stroll, at times. Gibbs has gotten behind matter. Welbeck goes across

his man, and it has looped up. Oxlade-Chamberlain with the option

of across. Settles for a throw of Martial. There is no forward

movement. The throw has to come back. Granit Xhaka will have a go

from there, deflected, and in. Well, he has had his critics this season

but he has scored the opening goal to break the deadlock of a curious

game. A big slice of luck as it looped up of Ander Herrera rarer.

They might not have loved him at all times this season, Granit Xhaka, but

there is affection for him now. And a huge slice of luck as well. It was

always going to take something bizarre to open the scoring in this

weirdest of Arsenal and Manchester United games. That was a curiosity

in itself. Can Arsenal from a forlorn looking

position in terms of the top four finish getting the Champions League

again? It would take a miracle still, but Oxlade-Chamberlain dances

to the line. Darmian. Holding strong, did well. Oxlade-Chamberlain

comes across, Welbeck. 2-0. Scores against his old side, a special

moment. A real striker's goal. All of the work done by Rob holding on

the right-hand side, powerfully through the two challenges and a

lovely cross by Oxlade-Chamberlain. Watch the big, young centre-half.

Through one, then another. Lovely cross. It hung in the air. Good

goal. Arsenal with two goals in three minutes and in the driving

seat in this game. And who knows? Perhaps back in the race for a

Champions League place. Once again for Arsene Wenger. He is Rooney.

Lingard. That was a foul though from the Arsenal right wingback, although

he does not think it was. Rooney and Mata over the ball. It is

Wayne Rooney. Petr Cech parries away. Petr Cech lined the wall up

correctly and got across. There's been no cutting edge to Manchester

United, really. Method Ozil. A gap for Rooney to drive into. Just

too far ahead of Welbeck, but a lovely intelligent run by Ozil. He

saw the gap and went for it. Oxlade-Chamberlain. Lingard. Sanchez

there. Scooped away by Darmian. This is what Ozil can do. He drove

through the gap. A rudimentary attempt to stop him by Rooney.

Welbeck not quite as alive to the situation as he should have been in

the middle. Now Lingard. Gone is the boundless enthusiasm of

last year. Rooney. Oh, clever. But not quite good enough. Knew what he

was doing, and it was curling and dipping. It was not far away.

Darmian. Lingard. Ten minutes ago. Could breathe new life into the

game. Holding was steady. Mata. Now Rashford. Has the pace to get

beyond Holding. Holding cleared it away to Wayne Rooney. He went to the

same corner of the goal again. You can see his frustration and

annoyance at the scoreline. It was bending and dipping again, but off

target. Carrick. Rashford, who has the pace to keep it in. He has run

Bellerin. Ramsey got back at him. No one is helping him. Joe Root

plodding forward. There is the big diagonal -- Olivier Giroud. He needs

to keep his cool air. -- he's cool there. Looking for Ozil. So many

great bits of play in combination in the past. He probably had a better

first half than second, Sanchez. His first Premier League victory against

his old nemesis. A strange atmosphere for an Arsenal

Manchester United game, but a good win. I agree with you. It was a bit

subdued. Overall I feel that we need to be patient to build the victory,

and we were very serious defensively and well-organised. The first goal

was a bit lucky. The second goal is a great goal. We are happy.

Obviously good to get the goal but I think the most important thing today

was to get the three points and set us on the way to the rest of the

season. It will be a difficult running with a number of games and a

couple of weeks. It's nice for us to get the three points and build on

the performance and hopefully finish the season strong because where we

are at the moment is very disappointing. Not just the players,

but everyone at the club. A wearying week with a trip back from Spain.

Did he have an effect? I know you've made changes. We made eight changes.

Eight. So of course we knew that we would not be at our maximum power,

but that is a decision. We want to try to win, and that's more

important for us than finishing fourth. We want to try to win the

Europa League and go to the Champions League through winning the

trophy. So we needed to give rest to players. Our squad is very short at

this time. We have five players that it is impossible that they recover

for any match, so the squad is really short and it's a

disappointing result, but I'm not disappointed with the individual

performances. I am proud of the guys. Manchester United, 25 unbeaten

matches in the Premier League, six months without a defeat in the

Premier League, I am proud of them. Will you be speaking here next

season again? Do you want me to work BBC? I don't know. Nothing new. That

testimonials on Match of the Day, but it felt like that the majority

of the afternoon. It did. It felt like a pre-season friendly. It was

nice, team surviving that wanted to survive without injuries and a team

that started nervous then realised that he was concentrating on the

Europa League make an win the game against Manchester United at the

hated it when the French players were like this. It doesn't matter if

you know them. You see each other in the bar afterwards. Not before the

game, just concentrate. Are you just a bit old-fashioned?

Yeah. But you have had the chance to say hello to them elsewhere in the

day. Last week on Match Of The Day 2, Danny Murphy was sitting where

you were and he pointed out how this formation confused Arsenal

defensively against Spurs and Spurs took advantage of it, particularly

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain being confused. However, attacking-wise

today, the wingbacks interest you? They certainly did. Arsene Wenger

will only be looking at the positives in this. He wants to

attack at all times. Ozil has that space behind. Welbeck did well and

Sanchez creates the patterns that he does. But it is the wingbacks who

really impressed me. The hand brakes are off. It suits both players. They

are both exceptionally quick. This time it is Gibbs on the left-hand

side, and then they get that artistry into their play with

Sanchez. They build really well. They dragged Manchester United all

the way back, Mkhitaryan and Mata playing almost as full-backs. Look

at how many Manchester United players are being dragged back. It

is a good system. That canvas is there for Arsenal to play their

football, and he is the trigger, Oxlade-Chamberlain. All those

Manchester United players have to go running back to deal with him.

Arsenal can set their stall out and play the football they want to play.

Ozil can come onto the ball. I thought he was back to his best at

times. All of the good things that Arsene Wenger wants to do, he can

put out. But it is this fella here. He is running down a blind alley

here. There is nowhere to go. He is too complicated in his play. He

tries to cross it and Indian says, I might as well just whip this in,

because I can do it. What a cross that is. Great finish. It is that

confidence to just put in there, keep it simple. But also, the

confidence of those two came because United didn't test them the way that

Spurs tested them. That is a side of the game they need to work on,

getting that balance. But going forward, I think that is now sorted

out. It seems to have made a man of Oxlade-Chamberlain. He is a

wingback. It has defied his job. One I have looked at Oxlade-Chamberlain

over the years, I have thought, what his best position? Now he has one

job. He uses his athleticism. This system suits him and gives down to

the ground. But certain players for United didn't do their job? They had

big moments in the game. If Wayne Rooney had scored in the first one,

they would have won. It was a simple, square pass. Juan Mata has

an open net to stick it in. Someone of Wayne Rooney's ability has to see

that. Jose Mourinho will be disappointed with the manner in

which he conceded the two goals in the second half. They were poor

defensive decisions that were made. Xhaka likes to shoot from that

distance. Never, ever turn your back. This is what happens when you

turn your back. Your code would say, take one in the face, but do not

duck out of the way of a shot from 30 yards, because this is what can

happen. It loops over David De Gea and goes into the net. Darmian is a

brilliant one-on-one defender. Stops the first cross from

Oxlade-Chamberlain, but doesn't react to the second phase. And Chris

Mullin makes another mistake in the middle from a position where he is

quite poor and makes these mistakes. Welbeck is in charge now. You can

see the number on Chris Smalling's back. Welbeck can make the run

either way. He doesn't. That happens too often to him. This is a weakness

in his game. He has to adjust position to see the man and the

ball. We talked about how it was a game that didn't have a great amount

of intensity. One player was head and shoulders above the rest in

terms of trying to things happen. I know Aaron Ramsey got Man of the

Match. But I thought this guy, Alexis Sanchez, played a different

intensity to anyone else on the pitch. Different in terms of passing

as well. That pass is the eye of a needle. Ramsey does well. He just

has that ability to open up a defence from that central position.

There is an electricity in his play. He played two or three great passes

today. Look at the change of gear. The change of pace is exceptional.

Whatever they are offering him, they have that decision to make now, I

would keep Sanchez. Looks like Ozil is sulking at times. He was OK in

his performance, but the matchwinner is Sanchez. I would buy Sanchez

100%, but if I had seen him over the last month, the mood you want, I

wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. If I was to say to you, and

this is true, a Jose Mourinho side last scored a goal away from home in

the Premier League against a current top six side on New Year's Day 2015,

when Chelsea lost 5-3 at Spurs. Forget the changes and everything

else. Does he have to change his mentality for his side when they go

away to other big teams? At the moment, United fans are happy. If

they win the Europa League, it has been a brilliant season. But next

season, when he plays Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, he cannot go there

and play with his six at the back. They have to be better. United fans

expect better. There is a negativity to their play. They have outstanding

players, let them go out and win matches. If United were to win the

Champions League this season, the fans would wonder how on earth they

had managed to do that. Liverpool and Southampton to come after your

chance to vote for April's goal of the month.

What a finish! Firmino was allowed to go by himself, but he watched it

all the way his boot. That is how to hit them.

Shaqiri Drive sit-in, brilliant! What an outstanding goal! That is a

strike to talk about for some time to come.

opportunity. Sam Clucas could not have caught that any better. Two

What a way to seal a superb performance. He has been top notch

COMMENTATOR: What a fabulous goal from Emre Can! In the last few

weeks, Liverpool kept finding a way to win on the road. But their

problems kept coming at home. They have levelled it! There has been a

sting in the tail here. And field are silenced. Three games left,

three Winsford equal top four. At Anfield, Steve Wilson.

A top four place is in Liverpool's hands, but they have made a habit of

fumbling the ball at crucial moments this season, particularly here,

where they have dropped ten points to West Ham, Swansea, Bournemouth

and Palace combined. Clock's side also lost both sides of the EFL Cup

semifinal to Southampton. Today the German plays the same starting

line-up for the fourth game running. But means Philippe Coutinho is fit

after a dead leg and Adam Lallana has to settle for a place on the

bench against his former club. Southampton boss Claude Puel has had

to face questions about his future this week despite that EFL Cup final

and what should be a top half finish. The prize for Jurgen Klopp

and Liverpool if they win this game and go on to win their remaining

games against West Ham and Middlesbrough is huge. The cost of

not winning this game could be equally significant. But it doesn't

feel like a season defining match at the moment. As always, Liverpool's

most likely, Coutinho, to produce something unexpected. A ripple of

applause as well as the first stretching of limbs from substitute

Sam Liverpool's bench after just 26 minutes, which have been remarkable

only for how an they have been. -- they have been uneventful. Tadic has

given Southampton the free kick. Jurgen Klopp is absolutely incensed

about that, checking his water bottle about. Not a foul, he says.

If he had a dummy in his mouth, he would certainly have thrown it. He

did get a whack on the shin from Lucas.

Liverpool might be able to use some sort of sense of grievance to wake

themselves. I think the water throwing was his way of saying, do

not sleep yourself into the Europa League. -- sleepwalk. Lucas with a

little touch. Firmino, holding off Ward-Prowse. Klein is to his right

hand side. The shot is meat and drink to Fraser Forster, but it is

still a shot. Did well to hold off Ward-Prowse. Might have bought Clyne

into play. Kenny Dalglish might have been asking how Blackburn Rovers

were getting on, the side he led to the Premier League title in a game

against Liverpool at this ground. The news from their former manager

is that Blackburn Rovers have been relegated into the third tier. No

width. Bariti. Coutinho. Emre Can. A little deflection. A bit awkward for

Fraser Forster. Just a little flick of the heel of the defender made it

move a little bit. None of the inventive, dynamic football that

Liverpool showed in the first few months of the season. It seems a

distant memory from this performance. Lucas. Origi. They are

claiming handball, and he has given it. Well, well, well. Liverpool

handed a lifeline. Jack Stephens, Cedric, Davies, everyone around the

referee. Stevens has poked out his right arm and it has hit him above

the elbow. There. That is a good spot by the referee.

A lucky break for Liverpool. But it is handball, and it is a penalty.

The home side are desperate for something to go their way. James

Milner has stepped up seven times this season from 12 yards to take a

spot kick, and he has scored every time. Cedric is booked for his

protests. There is a yellow card for

Ward-Prowse as well who went to go and delay things by getting eight

drink from the bottle in the back of the net. Trying to pile on the

pressure on James Milner. 20 minutes of the second half have been played.

Can Milner fire Liverpool in front here? Against the stubborn

Southampton. He can't, it is saved. Fraser Forster with the save. Great

save. First time that Milner has missed a penalty all season. They

still cannot score against Southampton. It is a really good

save. He guessed right, got down low, strong hands and Liverpool's

anxiety increases. Thanks to that from Fraser Forster.

Firmino. Lallana. Sturridge. The shot is straight at Fraser Forster.

This is what Sturridge can give you. Bright, sharp, quite the finish. --

not quite the finish. Coutinho. Clyne for Liverpool. Philippe

Coutinho. Lallana, driven low, but forced -- Forster is there again. He

has made a few saves in this game, none better than the penalty stop.

The rest have been fairly routine. Three minutes to go. Milner for

Liverpool. Sturridge. Did it take a deflection? Well,

Bobby Madden Lee has given a goal kick and Liverpool are incensed. It

seems to me as though it took a deflection. Well, Jurgen Klopp is

saying that Anthony Taylor said it was deflected. And Anthony Taylor

cannot give it. Only the referee or one of his assistants can do that.

It flew and it moved and Liverpool did not get the corner they thought

they should have done. Firmino. Lallana. Looked like handball by

Romeu, but they're not getting that easy -- either. Mignolet. Almost in

trouble. He was perilously close to handling

that outside his penalty area and Liverpool are playing a dangerous

game. Have another look at this. Mignolet, definitely outside of his

penalty area. That, for me is handball outside the penalty area by

the Liverpool goalkeeper. Emre Can. Milner's ball in. A good header and

a really good stop. Fraser Forster denying them again. A good ball. A

strong header. Yet another home game about to end in frustration for

Jurgen Klopp. It will be free on the spin that Liverpool have failed to

win, for the first time since September 20 12. Southampton have

their point. Liverpool have only regrets. Not least for James Milner

from the penalty spot. Fraser Forster, the Southampton star of the

day with a save. It has finished 0-0. We wanted, and everybody could

see we were really going to the three points, so Southampton came

here and played like the way you play against Liverpool. You cannot

stop us all the time when we play like this, but today they could and

it was important not to concede a goal. It was not as bad as it could

have been, but not as good as it could have been but I thought we

would have deserved the three points, but we don't have them, so

we will take one. Your goalkeeper, Fraser Forster, he's a big guy and

he made a big save today. Yes, two very good saves. One of them was a

penalty and that was a bit harsh. The other side, we could have had a

sending-off with Mignolet because he touched it outside the box. But it

was important to make a save against the other team, and it was important

because it was a fantastic effort in the second half. Did you get into

James Milner's head before he took it? No, I don't think so. He's a

world-class player and has a fantastic penalty record and luckily

for me I made the save, but he is a fantastic player and has a fantastic

track record. I've been there long enough to not let it worry me. I did

what I wanted to do, but not good enough on this occasion. Fraser is a

good keeper, and I can't do any more than hold my hands up and apologise

to the boys. I would not feel any more like we lost, and I recognise

this. I will know this when I wake up next morning and we will be

fighting until the final whistle. As long as I cannot hear the final

whistle, we keep on fighting. Let's have a look at the penalty, because

you had them arguing and Cedric getting booked, then James

Ward-Prowse getting booked forgetting the bottle and having

them drink and Fraser Forster distracting Milner. Yes, and this

went on for an age. You could feel the tension building for Milner and

the pressure of the goal because it might be guaranteeing them Champions

League status next season. Look at the size of Forster. He is saying,

look how big I am. I think Milner is a bit nice. I might have pushed him

away. It seems to go on forever and the referee is booking him. The

second player being booked, and when it comes to it, it's a massive leap

across his goal. Brilliant save. Yes, power on it and it's what you

do when you are under pressure, you go to power. If you're going to

miss, make sure you put a firm effort in. He's not quite got what

he wanted but he has been psyched out of it by the gamesmanship will

stop yes, but still a fantastic save. A great save, and if you talk

to goalkeeping coaches they will tell you that the young goalkeeper

wants to put the big leap in to impress and Milner was a bit cute --

if he was a bit cute he might have rolled it into the other corner.

Really interesting. Liverpool have collected just seven points this

season in seven matches against teams between ninth and 12th in the

Premier League. And again today they lacked penetration. They did, and

these teams that have come to Anfield have played deep, they've

been well-organised and closed up the spaces behind the midfield. I

think in this situation when you have four behind the ball you have

to say, as a centre-back, get out the way, you get into midfield and

we will take charge, and when you get the ball, try unplayable. Lucas

and Emre Can were to save on the passing. It was too easy -- try and

play the ball. Just move it from side to side. It was slow passing,

taking too many touches. The ball comes back into Lucas again and this

time Coutinho drops in above the midfield when he should be in the

space between the defence and the midfield. They are well drilled

though. They are well drilled but you want Coutinho behind the

midfield so Lucas can play the past, and he doesn't. Only Gabbiadini

upfront. The midfielders have dropped in, and Coutinho. Matip and

Loughran have to say, we will dominate Gabbiadini, but they

didn't. Too many players behind the ball. There was no penetration

whatsoever. You see that fight, really good discipline from

Southampton but it was easy to defend. When you have Emre Can and

Lucas in midfield, that is safe passing, square passing. Passing in

front of the defence and midfield. Easy to defend against and that is

white Liverpool struggle, particularly in the game today. So

the substitutes changed it. Sturridge and Lallana are

unpredictable. Forward pass, forward run and three Southampton players on

the ball. Sturridge can beat a man. When you have players behind the

ball you need players with unpredictability, and this is what

happens when you are positive in the passing. Milner nos Lallana will

make the pass, and he makes the run and all of a sudden the dry pitch

that Jurgen Klopp said was a problem becomes irrelevant because you have

some positivity. Should they have taken the initiative? Should Jurgen

Klopp have taken the initiative earlier? Lallana and Sturridge came

on in the 69th minute. Was that too late? I looked Lucas and Emre Can in

midfield, and because Southampton were playing deep, he could have

gambled a bit more. But I think he was worried about what happened in

the FA Cup with Southampton breaking on the counter. With Sturridge and

Lallana you have players who can beat a man and inject a little bit

of energy in the team. Southampton played Liverpool four matches, two

victories, two draws and they have not conceded a goal, and if you look

at the average formations from the two league games, they are very

similar. This was today. What would you say? Compact? Very and they

never had a single shot on target so you have to say that. Claude Puel

has been unfairly criticised recently. This is a team that

handles the ball well and is in good shape. When you look at the shape,

and you flip it to the home game earlier this season, which was back

in November, a couple of the players might be different but again, the

same. The shape is nigh on identical. They are the Liverpool

bogey team and they just did not get the goal on the break. I think

Southampton, a decent season for them, reaching a cup final. Every

season it seems they lose a top manager and a collection of players.

Does Claude Puel deserve more credit? There were rumours about his

future, and they can be made up. I really don't understand that. They

lost Reggio Pochettino, Ronald Koeman, maybe the Southampton fans

want to change every year. You cannot keep replacing these

managers. Virgil van Dijk will probably leave again. Gabbiadini has

shown they can still take decent players up each year. Southampton

fans will be delighted with the point on the performance. Arsenal

fans will be pleased they've beaten Manchester United. But you have kind

I've been disappointed that three of four weeks. It didn't hit me until

Tuesday night watching Real Madrid against Atletico Madrid and I saw

Real Madrid play to a level on Tuesday night that I don't think

anyone in the Premier League can get anywhere near at this moment. It's

no surprise we haven't got any teams in the last four of the Champions

League. I looked at the Real Madrid team and for how many players from

the Premier League would get in the team. I thought maybe one, David de

Gea as a goalkeeper. Kayla Navas is a top drawer. Apart from that, I

don't see any other player in the Premier League when we have the most

money in the world, the best stadiums, the best facilities, but I

think we need to keep raising the level. I watched Chelsea and Everton

last week, games every Saturday and Sunday, and I'm turning off because

quite. Martin? He is right. If you look at the Real Madrid players,

Reynaldo is one of the best who has ever played the game. They are the

benchmark -- Ronaldo. There is not a Premier League team that can cope

with that. When was the last time? 2009? Is there a lack of intensity?

I think it is down to quality. They have better players, simple as that.

If you look at the number of goals they score. Chelsea, 72 goals, and

Barcelona with a hundred made. They are playing attacking football,

bringing the crowds back -- 108. We have a great product and good

players. It sounds like you are saying we

haven't got a good product at the moment. I don't think we should be

blowing our trumpet, thinking we have got the best. If you ask, are

we playing too many games? It works against us. The intensity of our

Premier League games is greater than the French or Italian leagues. Hang

on, talking of playing too many games, let me show you this.

Manchester United have played 59 games this season. Real Madrid have

played 55. Monaco, who are being discussed is the most exciting young

team in Europe at the moment, have played the same number of games as

Manchester United. Real Madrid win games after 60 minutes and can

stroll the last 30. Monaco as well they can play at 50 or 60%. So

Monaco ticking on Montpelier is different to Manchester United

taking on West Ham? It is harder for the English club. If you look at the

Christmas period and their brakes, that is an excuse. I am talking

about lifting the quality of our league. There was no intensity in

Hull City against Sunderland. We are reaching a stage of the season when

the quality is going out. Teams just need a result, and they are not so

worried about the performance. But we now have six teams that could get

into the Champions League. Maybe Everton next year. Does it filtered

down as far in the Spanish league? I think it does. We need to lift our

performance levels. At the moment, I am seeing a lot of games that are

not at the level for us to challenge in European football. Stay watching,

because we have the highlights of the rest of the week to come. We

will see how Burnley made themselves virtually safe a bit later. First,

here are the teams battling the drop.

He didn't deal with... Silva! It has taken them less than two minutes,

and David Silva, on his return, marks it with his 50th Manchester

City skipper. It has taken City a little over three minutes of the

Swansea! Could be the goal that sees a seismic shift at the bottom of the

Premier League. The referee puts the whistle to his lips, and Swansea

City have safety back in their own hands. Their fate is their own to

decide. What a huge day this may be for Swansea City. The form we are

in, we are confident that we can go anywhere and get a result. We will

be training and working hard, only thinking of Sunderland on Saturday.

Yesterday's draw with West Brom means Burnley are all but say. Radio

5 Live's Tony Livesey experienced huge moment in the history of his

club. Burnley is a small town, but in the world of football, it looms

larger than the great centres of population. One person out of every

four in Burnley goes along to see the local football club in action, a

higher percentage of the population than anywhere else in the country.

Nothing much has changed, view-wise or supporter-wise since David

Coleman visited Burnley in the 1960s. As for the team, different

story. Then, we were the First Division title winners. In 1973, I

was there when we drew at Preston to win in the second division. Martin

Dobson and Leighton James, my heroes, had done it and that team

were called the team of the 70s. They finished sixth that year in the

First Division. They got to an FA Cup semifinal and won the Charity

Shield. Heady days for a ten-year-old wearing flowers as wide

as my head. But soon, a 25 year what set in. We even have to win the last

game of the season in 1987 to stay in the entire football league. No

wonder those 70s heroes were our last. Until now. If Burnley win

today after two previous attempts to stay in the Premier League, they

will achieve successive seasons in the top flight. It will reduce my

stress levels, do wonders for the Sean Dyche statue building in the

street and arguably be Burnley's greatest achievement in modern-day

football. Oh, what a finish! Superb from Jeff Hendry. Barry, compared to

the 1960 team and the 70s, is this Burnley's greatest achievement? I

think it is because obviously, the wealth that is now in the Premier

League, at least in the 60s, it was much more even. We played away at

Manchester United, we shared the gates and finances were much more

even, even with the big boys. For a small town to be trading blows with

those sorts of clubs, it is better than what happened in the 1960s. We

are looking at all these legends on the walls. There doesn't seem to be

a hero. I think it is Dyche. You don't know what that magic dust is,

but he adds it. I adored Harry Potts. He is the manager who won the

league in the 1960s. If Burnley win today and stay up, where does that

rank as an achievement? In terms of the resources that Sean Dyche has at

his disposal against his competitors, it is a magnificent

achievement. Ready to make history? COMMENTATOR: A win away from

securing a second successive win in the Premier League for the first

time since its inception, it could well be a day of deserved

celebration for Burnley. Did stop by Foster. -- good stop.

onto their good players. You said he is your Manager of the Year. If you

did a top three, he would be in the top three without a shadow of the
