group with Italy. A fantastic performance and they deserve to be

there. People should show them respect. They scored a goal and

Let's look at some of the positives from the Nigeria game. They did

attack and create the odd chance. I got it wrong because I thought

they would just pack into the defence. But they didn't. They had a

go. Maybe they had a look at Nigeria who had just arrived and had

convened to their confederation for the money they would be paid for it.

They did bits of defending here and there. That is an extremely good

goal. Not only did they get a corner, the squad from the corner.

That was brilliant. He could have got a second goal as well. You know,

you just really felt for them. It was a real shame that they didn't

hold on. A lot of the Nigeria goals came from

individual errors. Would that be fair? Yeah. Lack of tournament

experience and connectedness. That is shoving really where they are.

Poor communication. They were poor, very poor at times. They are here

and playing against the world champions. The players tonight will

be looking at the attacking line-out for Spain and those players, those

back four, to play against those players is going to be such an

enjoyable experience. I love the idea that maybe in the

Tahiti dressing room before the game they pinned up your words to

motivate them. And maybe they will look at the team

tonight and say Andress Iniesta isn't playing.

How do you begin to approach the Tahiti point of view? Number one is

we have to be respectful. We treat them like any other team. They had

level, you will be laughed at. That is a good line at the back. That is

not such a good position of the line and by the way, don't fall over

afterwards. That could have been another goal. Look at that. They've

stopped. Don't stop. You cannot stop at any level. There is the centre

back. Keep an eye on him. He just walks. There is no way in the world

you can play against anybody. Again, it is exactly the same. Standing and

watching. You need to do so much more than that at international

When they didn't run back, there was obviously a lot of space behind

It doesn't matter what system they play tonight. I think it is about

the players. You must have both played against

against Uruguay. This is a big game for some of the players.

Some are suggesting that Spanish football is fading. You know, you

are here. You are spending some of your summer here in Brazil anyway.

point here, I suppose, is when you are talking about international

many footballers who would do anything other than try and add to

You couldn't help but support Tahiti. They could have actually

Proving you wrong for the second game.

I am delighted to be proved wrong because I don't think Spain deserve

much because the mistakes they made, with the quality of players

they have got, you would normally themselves into good positions that

they would normally easily find the man, there. That was a little show

of the line they should be doing a little bit better. That quality

across is not good enough from one of the best teams in the world with

some of the best payers in the world. Again, nearly good enough. I

think that is nearly laziness and lack of concentration. It is because

they are just playing against Tahiti.

I think that is why the possession stats show that Spain have and have

that much possession because they are trying to force it. When they

are playing better teams, they keep the ball better and wait for the

chance. That is awful play from But did you see the highlighting?

had more, depending on the service to him.

I think he could have had eight could have had them. The standard of

passing was not good to him. Even in the first half, he could have got

four or five. He is a classic striker. Now and again, strikers do

need a boost of confidence and it has been up and down for him because

of his injuries but when a ball is played in, he looks always likely to

finish them. At the end of the day, I feel quite sorry for him. I feel

quite sorry for him because his shoulders were down. He knows he

should have had six or seven goals. Those last passes are particularly

from Torres, where poor through to him.

Yeah. It was some very good saves and instinctive handling but at

times, shocking positional sense. There he was brave and great. But

Really impressed by a couple of things he has done. He is left alone

against a striker. Let's draw a veil over that, just out of kindness for

him. It was interesting. He went through these emotions. This was his

best save, probably. His reaction to this is brilliant. He knows it is a

great save. It is going below and in the corner and when he did that

reaction, the crowd lifted. They were on his side. This is 30 seconds

later and this is a blinder. I think he saved this. I think he

touched it. Look at his celebration. A fantastic moment for him. Either

the member that. Ten other moments he will try and forget.

We watched the majority of the game when we watch the game with a smile

on our face. Upset, is the word, here. These

lights had worked hard. We have seen it all the readthrough with the high

line. They are getting higher. You have to explain to the lads you

can't do that. That is why you lose the respect of some people. Not me
