Good evening. It is time to check out the host nation once again.

It is time for kick-off. France come so close! Giroud attack and scores.

France take on Switzerland in Lillle knowing they will be top of the

group if they win. A draw for Switzerland guarantees qualification

that would see them through to the second round of the year rose for

the first time in their history. Switzerland versus France is our

live game here on BBC One. Over on BBC Four, the spotlight is on Lyon

where Romania take on Albania. Romania could steal second spot and

see the Swiss sweating on a place in the last 16. A win for Albania would

take them into third place and eliminate Romania. It is all pretty

complicated and comes as a result of Uefa Annex band in the compensation

to accommodate 24 teams. The bottom line is France are already through

and will win Group A as long as they avoid defeat tonight. Here with us,

but where is the incentive for winning the group? It is massive. If

you want to go to the final, it will make it an easier path. One thing I

am looking for today is to be more secure, or have more of a sure thing

about the game. We have seen them playing in the first game,

struggling in terms of the way they play. And in the second game, the

same thing. So far, my little question mark on where they were in

the competition and that did not mean anything. We had two first

games, we did not play really well. We did fight because we were at home

but let's stay on a positive note and hopefully they can play better.

It is an old adage, how you finish a tournament, not necessarily how you

started, Rio? It is, but momentum is key in a tournament. You want to

carry through. Like Thierry I am not totally convinced. Pogba and

Griezemann were the huge stars of the group that everyone were

expecting great things from. Griezemann came on and changed the

game with a goal but I think there is still much improvement. A

talisman being Payet. He is the shining light in his team. If they

improve they have a chance, have another home advantage is a key

aspect. I hope we don't get a carve up here, I think it is 24 years

since Switzerland actually beat France? I think it will be a good

game tonight. France will want to win all their games. There were some

great goals from Payet, who has been the player of the tournament, but

they will want to carry that momentum, they will want to make a

point to say, we are in the tournament, we are here to win it. I

think Switzerland on four points, they should have enough anyway, but

they will be dangerous opponents. Both their goals have been set

pieces. France always beat Switzerland, don't they? Usually!

Tonight's game takes place 200 kilometres north of Paris in the

Stade Pierre-Mauroy. As you can imagine, it is packed to the

rafters. Soaking up the rafters are Jason Mohammad and Zinedine Kilbane.

stadium, wherever I have been, it has been like this. I went to the

last France game down in Owain Taylor near, what an atmosphere.

Nervy times, a fabulous atmosphere. Travelling around, talking to the

fans and journalists alike, there is a growing feeling this is their

year, not only winning tonight but winning the Championship? They are

favourites but the two performances haven't been great. Spain are slight

favourites now but there is growing momentum. They will get better and

better. The supporters I have met along the streets and the cities I

have been in, they think this is their year. In a news Conference

this week, Didier Deschamps said he is not surprised by the way N'Golo

Kante and other players have taken to international football. Didier

Deschamps has a way of introducing players to make an impact on the

game. Griezemann made an impact off the bench. Hopefully, for France, he

can do the same again. The Swiss players looked remarkably relaxed

and focused. They can strike a psychological blow? They will have a

lot less position. I think Breel Embolo will make an impact. Neither

Wales nor Ireland are playing tonight so we can enjoy the match.

England take on Slovakia in Saint-Etienne tomorrow knowing one

more win will leave them top of Group B. We can hear the thoughts of

Chris Smalling who has been talking to Gabi Logan.

Congratulations on the victory over Wales. Was it tough not to get

caught up in the trash talk. You all seemed to be very calm. Was it a

concerted effort? There was the hysteria but we kept very composed

and we let our feet do the talking on the pitch. Could you have a say

in that? When the winner came in, you could see the subs and the

coaching staff really live that moment. There was only one member of

the coaching staff who made it into the melee. Why use a prize to see

Gary Neville on top of you? , No, I wasn't. You could see the passion

which overrides everything. What is it like being one of three centre

halves in this squad? Some people think it is a strange choice of Roy.

Do you have to wrap yourself up in cotton wool? Not really, my game is

one that is very much aggressive and I like to be on the front foot so I

try and play my game no matter what. A lot of worries were towards the

defence. It gees you one little bit more, we are the men who were chosen

and you have to prove that. When you step off a bus and your knee had a

bandage on it and everyone jumps on that potentially as an injury and

you realise everyone is fearful? It is nice to be cared for. I had so

many messages from friends and family but that was almost normal

recovery for me to make sure I am tiptop for the next match. It is a

win for St George over the dragon. I think everyone was a bit more

relaxed because we had got that win but it is about moving on now to

make sure we can finish that job and finish top of the group. What did

you make of Slovakia? Very unlucky in the first game. They have two

attacking winners. They need a result. At some point they will have

to come out and attack. Well, I suppose, Rio, England's

defence have not been overly tested in the first two matches? They

haven't been tested. It has been a great introduction. That is the area

everyone was worried about. They have got themselves into the

tournament and got a bit of confidence now. Hopefully, they can

continue. Chris Smalling is the first centre-half won the team

sheet. It is his time to take the opportunity which he has been given.

Communication is his biggest area to improve on. He has to communicate

and be the commanding centre-half he wants to be. As for the other end of

the pitch, Roy Hodgson is spoiled for choice in many ways, Thierry,

there are a lot of powerful, inform goal-scorers, so who would you go

for? I would go right now, I would leave came in there. You will need

him to score a goal and you will need that guide to win the

tournament. And Sterling, at one point, you are playing with a

winner. Lallana comes inside, that allows Walker going forward. If you

have a winner who does not beat anyone, it is almost too easy to

defend, so if you have a guy who can come inside and allow Danny Rose to

be the Danny Rose of Tottenham, I think the problem is sterling on the

left is not being productive. You have got Kane, Sturridge, Vardy... I

would start storage and Vardy. -- Sturridge. As harsh as it is an

Harry Kane, no chances, he must have been sitting on the bench in the

second half thinking, you could have put someone on with me upfront to

give someone else the chance to running behind and let me have the

chances. It would have been a frustrating half for him looking on.

Vardy upfront. Sturridge one side, I would sit Rooney in behind at the

top of the diamond. We have all been in that situation where you do not

know what is happening. If Sturridge and Vardy starts, Roy has to have a

discussion and ensure him that he is still part of that squad and

believes in him. I think the way Vardy and Sturridge came on, that is

a sign to show Harry Kane, listen, you can be back in the team, it is

your turn, the roles are reversed. And even if he is left on the bench

he has the chance to come on. That discussion is key. I remember myself

being on the bench and people don't explain to you why, when you have a

certain pedigree, it is not always easy to understand. I know you will

say Harry Kane is still young will stop I think he should go with cane

because he will be where he needs to be. Meanwhile, Wales are focused on

their clash with Russia in Toulouse. Daniel Sturridge! Storage Scarlets,

injury time is England's this time. It's a win for St George and defeat

for the Dragon. Ashley Williams watched and all most

guaranteed place in the next round slip away in the dying seconds. This

man is not deterred. Ashley Williams, the captain, the rock.

Right at the end of the game you all went into a big huddle just by the

Wales fans, what was said? Just what we really wanted to say, don't walk

off the pitch with your head down and be proud of what we've achieved

focused for that and getting your mind as sharp as it can be for the

our game plan, which I will not tell you, we know a draw might be enough

but we don't want to risk that and we want to go out and play. He's

obviously a personable guy and everybody gets on with him in the

team and he's a good laugh, whichever team he's in his generally

the loudest. If you are going to lead the team you have to be vocal

but also lead the team on the pitch and your performances have to be at

the same level and he's been able to do that. As Lee Williams -- Ashley

Williams. Some people call you the rock, how do you see yourself as the

captain? Just try and be there for some of the younger boys, help them

out, and try and think how I can be a better leader. If I asked the

other guys to describe you, how would you like them to describe you?

What I'd like or what they would say? What you would like. Positive,

I'm always trying to be positive and hopefully they would say that he

does his best in whichever way he can, I suppose. Who calls him the

rock? Who started that one? Who calls him the rock?

What do you think they would say? He's loud and of noxious and

was the top scorer in his league has conceded just one goal in the

passed fit after a knee injury and he plays alongside Arsenal's new

midfield recruit Granit Xhaka, who's made 196 successful passes so far.

19-year-old Embolo is brought in for the misfiring Seferovic upfront and

Shaqiri keeps his place despite two indifferent displays so far. Perhaps

the most interesting inclusion at the moment is Pogba back in the

midfield for France because he's created quite a few headlines for a

variety of reasons. He's the talk of the Town at the moment. I think

tonight he will play on the left where he is more comfortable that's

where he plays with Juventus in the partnership he has with Patrice

Evra. One thing that is interesting that the French team is the midfield

from the first, second and obviously tonight, it hasn't been the same.

The strikers also. Only thing we know and are kind of sure about is

the back four and goalkeeper. Does that concern you, when juggling the

side and making changes, it doesn't help familiarity although it gives

everybody a game. It does but what it doesn't do, I think it will be

one of the first times in the competition that a team will arrive

in the last 16 and not having really an idea of who is going to start and

of the formation also. It's a bit tricky, but this one is a bit more

than expected, that he was going to rotate and change the guys on a

yellow card. That's the thing that Pogba went through against Romania,

he was trying a bit too much at times and when he does this, in the

same situation, controls the ball around three players but this time

he's going to keep it simple and look forward and see the run of

Samia, that is all he has to do, let the game come back to you and play

it simple. We all know what he can do. He can do this also, but did he

really have two role that ball and pass that ball? A bit too much of a

showman at times? Yes, just keep it simple, do what you are good at, he

does this for Juventus, later in the box he could have scored. Didier

Deschamps took him off and he didn't like it, obviously. But that he does

ever so well, he could have scored and I love that one, people forgot

that he started that and I would have loved to be at the end of the

ball, I'm sure Gary and Alan the same. But that's what he does and

what he should do every single time. One of the things about him, he's

young, do you think he knows what he is yet, Frank Lampard is a

goal-scoring midfielder, Kante a defensive midfielder, Vieira,

all-rounder, what do you think he is? He is young, you said it

yourself, you still trying to find what he's good at. One of the things

is, he's OK at everything. He can roll, he can be a striker, does he

score a lot of goals? Not yet, does he pass a lot? Not yet. With all

know he has the potential. It is a nice pressure to have. Because I

want him to do well, the whole country wants him to do well and he

has quality and everybody thinks he's a great player. I still think

he's a great player and hopefully for us he will deliver. Is making

changes, Griezmann is back, he's shown what he is, brave enough to

bring players on, leave them off and substitutions. He didn't play

particularly well in either game but that is a good sign, when not

playing well and winning. They have matchwinners in their team. My only

concern with leaving the players out tonight is that for, five days ago

they didn't win the group, and if they leave it tonight 11 or 12 days

in a tournament without a match, trying to build momentum, that is

not healthy. Griezmann is a fantastic player. 32 goals for

Atletico this season. Who left him out and responded in the right way

and brought him on in the second game and he got a very good header.

I love his enthusiasm to get in the box and get on the end of things. As

for Switzerland, their star man is Arsenal's new signing, Granit Xhaka.

I suppose if anyone can... ?30 million, so I is our on him and the

Arsenal fans will be looking to see what is coming to the Premier

League. He has nice feature, he's a good passer and likes to control the

game, controls the midfield area. The only thing that worries me for

coming to the Premier League is his disciplinary record. In three

seasons he has 36 yellow cards and five red cards, so he will have to

curtail that. He certainly will. The teams are coming out. There is live

good at defending set pieces. What they have been good at, the players,

the management and every fan in the ground, singing of the national

of a nation has picked up a lot quicker in these European finals

behind France than it did behind the country in the World Cup of 1998, I

can tell you. They look a confident side. They have pace in key areas.

Switzerland make the one change to try and get to the knockout stages

for the first time, teenager Embolo gets only his second international

start in place of Sue Berelowitz, who has missed too many chances.

Embolo has pace but his runs have lacked guile, imagination and a

little bit of experience. -- Seferovic. The players on yellow

cards include Xhaka, who has a poor disciplinary record. The boys were

talking about that in the studio. The referee is Damir Skomina and he

was in charge of the 3-2 win over Sweden of England in 2012. He's

taken over the Russia- Slovakia game in this tournament and produced just

one yellow. There is the Swiss canton Stephan Lichtsteiner joining

the other record equalling French captain Hugo Lloris. Deschamps joked

yesterday that he would take the captaincy away from Lloris so he

wouldn't equal his record of 54 games as captain. Well, five changes

has raised eyebrows in the French commentary boxes, as we expected

them to take no risks with Kante and Giroud on yellow cards, allowing

Gignac and Cabaye to get their first starts. Sissoko former Tweedie had

been discussed but Coman is staying in and Payet dropping out, Coman

played well the other night but Payet dropping out is the surprise

for the French, especially given he is a formerly from a Lille player.

Yellow cards against Kante and Giroud. As Alan said there is a big

gap between this game and the next match should France go through a six

days and then another six days to what would be a Deschamps semifinal.

A long time to rest or lose momentum? It will be France

nominally on the team sheets as the away team tonight in the change

strips to get us off and underwear kicking from right-to-left in the

Madine good point about building up partnerships and relationships

positive. One thing I have noticed, Jonathan, is the players slipping

about all over the place on the pitch. The pictures have been

criticised. The harshest critic was Didier Deschamps, the French

manager, who was furious with the state of the pitch the other day.

That was in Marseilles where there had been a heavy metal concert just

before these finals. In comes the first corner of the evening. Away by

Fabio Schar who scored the opening goal in these finals. This is a

promising Swiss break. France caught a little bit on the

counter. Cabaye got back. That was sent towards Andre-Pierre Gignac. He

has been playing out in Mexico where he has had a good season. This was

said they would not just be coming here, it would not be stalemate? It

was a good breakaway. Just looking at Breel Embolo being offside there.

There was a sloppy ball to the edge of the box. A bright start stop

Lloris, his 78th cap in all. There is the Swiss coach, Vladimir

Petkovic. He is a Bosnian Croat with a Swiss passport, born in Sarajevo.

Pogba heads it forward. He has been an enigma at these finals so far.

Too long for Coman. They had such a bright game in their second match

where they left it late again. They were dubbed in the local press here

as the kings of suspense because of the late goals.

Lloris said they want the ball higher up and close to the Albanian

goal and it paid off nicely. Blaise Matuidi, who is not in the starting

line-up today, said the players discussed at half-time what they

would do and he thinks the coach made good changes by going back to

4-3-3. Of Stoke has had a great tournament so far. -- Xherdan

Shaqiri of Stoke has had a great tournament so far.

That would have been a corner. As soon as you raise your boot above

knee height in international football, you will always get a free

kick. Rodriguez is one of the best left

wing-backs in Europe. We have not seen him get forward too much on a

four for two, zero Lichtsteiner on the right. So strong normally for

their country. Rodriguez likes to get forward.

There is plenty of space out there to get forward when Switzerland

switched the ball early. It is interesting to see Griezemann and

Coman on opposite sides. I thought Griezemann might start on the left

side. There is a left that on the right and a right foot on the left.

Some managers prefer that to see how that develops.

Lichtsteiner does arrive and pound forward. That is what he is capable

of, getting up in support with such speed and such power. He does really

well there, Adil Rami. A wasted opportunity from Switzerland. A poor

ball from Breel Embolo. Laurent Koscielny has been so steady.

Lichtsteiner's nickname is Forest Gump because he can run and run and

run. Life is like a box of Swiss chocolates. This comes to the near

post, they very nearly get it. Just straightaway, Pogba are doing an

important job back in there. Sagna was there as well. He watched as big

Paul Pogba got it away. A problem here for Switzerland. Schar is down.

It comes off Pogba. Giroud I think it is lying on the floor, cannot get

a touch. A superb ball in. Schar gets the header. He does not know it

is there. We saw in the first game, France get the ball off set plays.

Fortunate to be 0-0 still. Sagna was stepping out watching something

else. They are strong at set pieces. We

know that France have conceded 20 goals from set pieces.

Valon Behrami was a bout before the game with a knee injury. He is on a

yellow card as well. You can see his shirt being pulled

at the bottom of the screen there. Be careful there, Sagna. That is

what he is telling the referee. He says it is a penalty. And we have

seen them given in these finals. A change of shirt for the

International nearing 50 caps. Pogba to Adil Rami. He is in the

squad because another player was injured in the build-up.

To lose two defenders of their quality was a real blow but Adil

Rami is playing well in the squad. Spilled to the top of the bar.

Really good play from Andre-Pierre Gignac. Hold the ball up, nice and

patient. This is what we like to see. The keeper nearly drops that

in. Lucky boy. Incomes that corner. Cabaye's most competitive game of

the FA Cup final. Xherdan Shaqiri has been a bit in

and out of this competition so far, little bit like he was with Stoke

City. He has shown glimpses this season of what he could do, but I

think he has only got three goals this season, Jonathan. Foreign man

of his talent, that is not enough. He has got to do more in the final

third to become a top player. Three goals in a season for an attacking

player like him, is not good enough. Only three players in qualifying

created more chances in the whole of Europe. He has not done enough here.

Coman missed it, sets up Pogba! A lovely saved by summer. -- a lovely

saved. That man Pogba again. Get a great

strike on his left foot. What a save that was. A strong left hand. No

wonder he's being linked with Premier League clubs, clubs like

Manchester City. Soma comes and claims but that is

not too impressive. A terrific save, two shaky moments so far for the big

goalkeeper. A little bit edgy. Lichtsteiner can be an outspoken

character. He has spoken about the number of Swiss players who were not

born in Switzerland or his players were not born in Switzerland.

A good pace about the opening quarter of an hour. Really good.

Dzemaili. Deflected up and away and kept in by Hugo Lloris. Dzemaili has

had a bright start, although he's been a bit inconsistent in the

tournament. Good linkup from Mehmedi and Dzemaili. Couldn't quite get the

shot away, but so many players are slipping down there. Still 0-0 in

the other game. Northern Ireland, of course, want it to remain like that.

A remaining victory would take them on to four points and if they don't

finish in the top two in this group four would be enough to send them

through as one of the best third placed sides come you would think.

There is a scenario tonight that third place in the group could be

settled under fair play, or Uefa national team coefficient rankings

rule, which means at the end of the game we probably won't have a clue

as to who has gone through, not a situation as you would want it.

Sissoko strong, Griezmann. Gignac. Lichtsteiner. It bit jittery there.

Evra back into the mix. The goalkeeper called. Good pick out

from Griezmann, little pull-back to Gignac. I was watching Shah read the

run and he did well to get the block, clever defending. -- Fabian

Schar. Wraps won an extraordinary game 5-2. 5-0 up by 73. -- France.

Pogba goes for it! Clips the bar. That is the Pogba France have been

waiting to see. This is the power of the man, a big long stride, terrific

strike. Very, very unlucky. He's had three efforts on goal. He looks

hungry tonight and like he's trying to prove a point.

Mehmedi plays back. Xhaka very rarely wastes a pass, Arsenal fans

will relish that. Here is Lichtsteiner. Might have had three

already. Djourou Dzemaili is playing very high, higher than he has so

far. Against Romania in the first half Xhaka was picking up the ball

far too deep and in the second half they moved him forward and work a

much more expressive side. Djourou.

Misunderstanding there. But Pogba, what a talent.

That's a really good strike. I think France was limp's point of view,

Behrami was shaking his head a little bit after that, he lost him

again. They've got to keep an eye out for him and his runs from deep.

Communication between him and Xhaka is crucial.

18 months since he last scored a goal for France, against Portugal in

a 2-1 win. Here he is again, finding space, and

cruising along. Griezmann. A lot of pressure on him

in the first game. Gignac. Remember, France 98 so clearly, they were slow

to gather momentum, France, but when they did they became an unstoppable

juggernaut. Pogba, into the box, two went for it. Gignac got the last

You can see Djourou nice and strong competing with Gignac, he just does

enough. Good defending that from the Swiss centre-half.

It was worth a go, not a bad effort. He scored three in the U21 European

Championships in 2011 when Switzerland were runners-up and

It didn't look like it to me but you've got to get on with it and

defend the corner. They have to concentrate and focus

again, in comes the corner kick, dangerously whipped in and the head

up and over by Fabian Schar. It was whipped in with great pace,

wasn't it? Well defended. He helped Hoffenheim steer

themselves to safety again this year. In it comes again, looking for

Gignac, Schar behind him. Shaky season domestically and looked shaky

at times here, the defender, against Gignac, the 30-year-old, six

muscleman. -- 6'1". Rami stayed in and lifted his foot too high and he

could be in trouble there. He gets a yellow. The foot was too

high but it was because he was ponderous about it, thought about

it, that's why the referee has given the yellow.

Yes. We have seen a little bit of this

brandishing of an imaginary card but not that much, not as much as we had

anticipated. We haven't seen a great deal of diving, cheating.

I think it is a good point you make and a very refreshing one. It really

is. The discipline side has been really good. I think the refereeing

has been good, generally. The odd bad game here and there but overall

really encouraged by the referees' willingness to try and let the games

go. At the moment Switzerland have had

53% possession. Since their World Cup final defeat against Germany

they've won 18 of 23 games. Only one of three countries to have won the

Euros as hosts along with Spain and Italy. There was a foot raised by

Pogba that caught Behrami who immediately squealed to the referee.

It was a little bit higher, free kick, fine.

Lichtsteiner. That will be a yellow. He pulled Coleman -- Coman down.

Well, it's not going to be a yellow. That's interesting.

Coman does well. 50 yards up the pitch he would be giving a yellow.

That's the inconsistency that people don't tend to like, but I'm all for

keeping players on the pitch. I wonder what Didier Deschamps

thinks of this pitch judging the Stade Velodrome so harshly, he

called it a disaster. It's the worst I've seen so far,

Jonathan. It has cut up a lot from last week. There has been half a

dozen times at least when players have slipped.

A BBC man was speaking to the groundsman here in the build-up to

this. He said it was because the pitch is so new, relayed at the end

As opposed the question is, if it is going to be a risk to relay the

about his display the other day before he went off, Kingsley Coman.

He is a real threat, he has good quality, good end product, super

delivery. Of course, when you sometimes need

summary to get you up the pitch with that pace, he gives them that, as

does Martial, who is sitting on the bench tonight. They lacked that in

the first game, didn't they? This is Sissoko.

Lichtsteiner joining in. It is a good change of pace. Coman has it.

Why on earth would you want to send him out on loan for two years to one

of their European rivals, Bayern Munich? Staggering. Be paid him for

the privilege. Maybe they thought he was not up to the level. He has

certainly proved them wrong. Here is proving a few people wrong tonight

as well. The French system is quite narrow,

this 4-3-3. It means the Swiss full-backs are getting out quite

easily. Good possession of the ball. Still no goals between Romania and

Albania. Clever defending from Koscielny. I

was interested in reading Thierry Henry's, its about Koscielny. -- his

comments about Koscielny. Arsene Wenger believes he is one of the top

centre halves in the whole of Europe now, Koscielny will stop when he

first came, he did not have the confidence he possesses now. He is a

leader on the pitch. A good talker, a good leader. There is the

handball. Suspected handball, I should say. Nothing in that for me.

If France make it three wins on the spin, last time they went to the

finals with two wins. They won the title in 84 and 2000. This could

well be an awkward night. One of the heroes of 84 was in the

media Centre earlier. Very well of midfield player.

Obviously, a man of your age could tell me more, I was a young

whippersnapper. I played against him. In comes a corner.

I remembered Big Ron Atkinson casting the ball square in the

penalty area after about two minutes and we were 1-0 down.

Evra deflected that away, it is a corner to France. He did not look

that comfortable in the air, Sommer. I just noticed on that corner,

Switzerland are bringing everyone back to the 18-yard box which is

fine but they don't put anyone on the posts. Normally you would cover

the posts as well. I'm usual. We are hoping for the 50th goal in Euro

deal of Sissoko in this first half, using that great pace and power

driving forward. He is a regular during the friendly matches, only

Griezemann played more of appearances for France in the two

years. His future at Newcastle seems to have been up for discussion for

about the last year. Really good play for Switzerland.

They are confident, have grown into the game.

Gignac getting his chance today with Giroud rested. He scored against

Russia in March in his previous start.

He has made strong decisions in his selection of the squad for tonight's

game, here's a strong minded man, Didier Deschamps. So much criticism

from outside the French camp in the build-up to the World Cup finals but

he led the team so magnificently to win the World Cup. Here's the ever

captain. -- he is the youngest ever captain.

How do you think he will do in the Premier League, Granit Xhaka? He

looks like an Arsenal type player. Sprayed the ball there to Shaqiri.

Griezemann was there with him. My only slight concern would be his

defensive capabilities. He is not a super athlete. From a footballing

perspective, very, very good. Patrice Evra has had 76 appearances

now for France. Pogba, little dink over the top. The offside flag

against Gignac. Xhaka just dropping off a yard. A

good ball spun away to Lichtsteiner. Their system is working well. The

4321. Albania 1- up against Romania I can

tell you. We will see that goal at half-time.

That means the group looks like this as it stands, France seven,

Switzerland would have five, Albania will have three, keeping alive their

hopes of qualifying as the best third placed side. Romania will be

going -- would be going home. They are allowing the full-backs to

get out so easily. We are in stoppage time. A bright

start by France. But Switzerland have dug in. They have dug in. They

have stopped those runs by Pogba. And they have grown into behalf,

they just need to try and get some decent chances because France have

had the better ones. No goals at half-time. A point would suit both

countries. Pogba hitting the bar early on for France. The best we

have seen will stop another shot from him was pushed up onto the bar

by the Swiss goalkeeper. We have had no goals in the first half.

Basha STUDIO: Of the 48 goals scored so far only 15 have come in the

first half so stick with us, I'm sure it will happen. We hope! It was

a disappointing half. Having been impressed with France in their first

two games, slow in possession. The pitch is rank. It is slow, bodily.

There have not moved the ball quick enough, Pogba has been the best

player, couple of long-range efforts -- bobbly. Other than that they have

not asked questions of the Swiss defence. Impressed with Switzerland,

they made it difficult for them, not going to roll over just need to try

and get more men forward when they get the ball in the final third.

Best thing we have seen so far Thierry Henry, is this beautiful

sunset so far. You have not been overly impressed and frustrated at

times. In the first half against Romania we didn't see a good

performance or against Albania. Why is that? Talked about it before, we

are still trying to find a starting formation, starting XI, it was

better from Pogba and I think Kingsley Coman was better but didn't

succeed in what he's trying to do but he tried. Cabaye might have been

the best player of the first half in terms of stopping the counters of

Switzerland and trying to play forward. That was way better from

Pogba from what we've seen. How did you read it? My opinion on France,

they are going to be a team that will win games through pure

individual brilliance, not a team that will pin you in your half and

prod and poke you and dictate the game and look for openings like

Spain or Germany. They rely on Payet, or Pogba, or Coman, or

Griezmann, a moment for those guys to create magic to win.

Disappointing to watch and not interesting for the first 45, must

say. But Pogba had a couple of brilliant moments. He's been the

dominant personality for all sorts of different reasons in the first

half, hasn't he? If there was one it was this guy picking the ball up and

trying to do something, driving forward, trying to urge his team on.

He has had a couple of efforts. This one here is a good strike. I thought

he wasted the opportunity and he took it around the defender against.

The keeper nearly had a nightmare, it was a decent strike. The second

one as well, again, he's the one that is forcing himself to get into

the box, to make something happen. Beautiful strike with his left foot,

clean strike. Good technique. Yes, good technique. He has good

technique with both feet and loves to shoot. Brilliant save from

Sommer, it really was. Thierry Henry? I like his desire to go

forward today, he's not thinking too much about what he has to do, he

does that with Juventus, he tried it, he didn't score but his desire

and he is playing with freedom. Is he better doing that or sitting in

front of the back four dictating play? It is better when he plays

more offensively. He is attack minded, his first thing is to

attack. He's a bit all nothing, like you said before the game, he doesn't

just like to do the simple things. In this type of situation you have

to let the game come to you, play simple and do what you do best. Get

to the box and shoot. That is what he's best at, box to box, picking up

the ball and driving at the back four. With that bearing down on you,

in the back four as a centre-half, seeing him coming at you, he has the

ability to put the ball in the top corner. In wide areas he put a nice

ball in for Gignac occasionally. He is the one that is trying to do

something, lovely ball into my right foot, just moved it, we saw him have

a great shot with his left foot that hit the bar. He can do that also,

whipping in a decent ball. But they've not really asked enough

questions of the goalkeeper. Again, coming out from his own box,

creating space, making himself available. I think this is what he's

good at, the king of the ball and driving at the back four but the

pitch is not helping him. It certainly isn't! There is another

example coming up. This is quite amusing when he brings it down. What

do you call that? Pogba back? He slips again. He has another go. The

new pitches. All of the players are slipping and not just in this game

but in a few of the games, the pitches have been very poor. He

might need a new shirt as well! Joking apart, we mentioned at the

beginning of the game, I also think he's more comfortable playing on the

left-hand side of the field. And he played on the right because Matuidi

is left footed so they obviously put him on the left, but I think Pogba

loves to come back on his right, and saw that, although he smashed it

with his left, he's more comfortable on the left. We think the French may

be susceptible and have a weakness on set pieces, particularly from

corners. There is a weakness that we highlighted in the first game. At

the near post, exactly the same position here again, very good ball,

near post, get the flick, and fortunate to get away with that. We

said that teams might highlight that problem, that issue they seem to

have, Switzerland tried to do that, and they were unlucky not to get the

gold. Superb ball in but there is an obvious weakness there. It is kind

of a weird one because Rami is good in the air, Gignac is good in the

air, Koscielny is good in the air and Pogba has a good size so be

careful against a big team. Penalty shout for the Swiss? What do you

think, Rio? As a defender I would have to say no. You don't think so?

I cannot give that, the ball is not in the vicinity to even be looking.

The main thing is the quality of the Swiss shirts appears to be... Not

getting a penalty for that. You can speak to them if you want. I could

call them now! LAUGHTER

Never a penalty. It wasn't a penalty. OK, well, let's bring you

up-to-date with what happened in the other game in Group A summer Romania

and Albania in Lyon, Mark Lawrenson and Simon Brotherton.

got to pull it back! He's done absolutely fantastically. He's done

brilliant to get himself in that position. Now have a look.

Unfortunate, such a waste. Hysaj, the playmaker in the side. There you

go! Ince was Sadiku and the header! Albania have scored! Armando Sadiku!

A towering header into the far corner of the net and an historic

moment for Albanian football. The first-ever goal at a major

tournament, and they have the lead they deserve against Romania. It is

a clever header, headed back the way it came from. He's watching it,

watching it, what is the goalkeeper doing, for goodness sake? It is a

really, really clever header and exactly what Albania deserves.

Tower. This is how the numbers add up following Sadiku's goal. Good

news, obviously, for Northern Ireland fans. That will enhance

their chances of progressing to the knockout stage, should it stay like

beaten Ukraine last time out. Michael O'Neill's men are in

What a night and it is one I will never forget, to share it with my

brother was something special. He couldn't speak, he was in tears. I

said, why are you crying? With just beating Ukraine. Would like to think

we've done enough already but we know how quickly things change in

football, so hopefully we'll get another point and secure getting

through to the next stage. What a great achievement, we are here

against the world champions, stick to the game plan like we nine times

out of ten and we come out better off. You saw the other night against

Ukraine on how much it meant to the fans, scored the first goal and they

didn't shut up from them, then. If we can do that in Paris and keep

them bouncing it would be great. COMMENTATOR: The proudest moment in

Northern Ireland football history, surely. They've won the group.

People turn around to me and say they remember where they were 30

years ago. This is what I say to the players, give them something to

remember, we beat Ukraine in Lyon. You cannot forget those moments. We

will be in for a tough game, full of energy, physically and mentally very

strong. It Dunne make it a really difficult and ugly game for them to

play in. I'm sure they will not be used to that type of match.

frustration in the stadium because France have been in complete control

and not taking any chances. I've been quite impressed with

Switzerland and the way they countered against the French. They

had a few opportunities, Paul Pogba has been the outstanding player.

What about the atmosphere around the stadium when he picks up the ball

and drives forward? It is electric. They have failed with the telling

pass at key moments. What's been amazing about this crowd is that

every Pogba gets the ball there is a of expectancy and they are even

chanting his name. It is incredible, as soon as he gets it there is the

buzz and electricity. The strike would have been fantastic if he'd

stuck it in the top corner and what a goal it would have been. There has

been frustration in the stadium, the nervousness we sought midweek

against Albania. Above my left shoulder you may be

able to see that the pitch is cutting up and officials had been

concerned in the days leading up to the match about the pitch. That has

been a common theme about the tournament, not many pictures have

been very good, we've seen many players slipping over. That has been

become and eliminator to rout. They have to sort it out, sort out your

footwear, I don't know what you will do about it but it looks poor out

there. Kevin and I have been like grumpy old men in the stand, laments

in eight final ball quality but a cup of tea and some goals wouldn't

go amiss. STUDIO: It baffles me when you see

three blokes walking around with those pitchforks as if it will make

any difference. Are we going to leave it until the last few minutes?

It seems that's the way they will do it. I'd like to see Paul Bob Byran

controlling the second half, and finally playing with the freedom --

Paul Pogba. That would help him and France a lot. Us of all changes

again? That is what Didier Deschamps in the first two games and it worked

perfectly, so don't be surprised if he gives it ten minutes and brings

on a substitute Court 2. Goals change things. That is what we need.

Yes, it is needing a goal. And this guy so that he can get his

confidence and we can start to see his full repertoire. Let's see how

it goes on the second half with Danny Murphy and Jonathan Pearce.

COMMENTATOR: Pogba got a double for Juventus in their title winning

season. Cecil and in the red and white get as underweight kicking

from right-to-left. Nine of France's last ten goals in the Euros have

been scored after half-time -- underway. They should not be any

surprise that games between these countries have been tight. Seven

goals between the teams in their last meeting in the Brazil World Cup

finals, but seven goals in more than they have been in the four meetings

They have been tight. They have been in the last seven major football

finals. Here is Cabaye towards Coman who had a bright first half. Shaqiri

switches it away. That was a good ball. Embolo arriving. Koscielny

with a backheel. Pogba will stride away.

He did the opposite there. A good move from Switzerland. A dangerous

break. They are capable of creating chances. They had 19 shots against

Romania. They have actually started with Shaqiri in a ten role. It was

that man, Shaqiri, who started that move with a first pass. A good

positive start from them. They have never beaten France in major

tournaments. The French have one at Euro 2004,

and the World Cup. Switzerland sending three

substitutes out to warm up right at the start of the half. One of them

is Michael Lang who came on in the last game will stop here comes

Switzerland. Sloppy from Pogba. Trying little

skills and tricks in the middle of the park.

Shaqiri has come alive at the start of this half. He has had a hand in

nine goals in the last nine competitive internationals. Cabaye

was there. Sagna away. This is the man the French

supporters want to see out there, Payet. One headline in a French

newspaper said Payet, given by God. They certainly have been fulsome in

their praise. I think he deserves a great deal of praise but that might

be a little bit too much! I bet he's disappointed not to be playing. When

you are playing so well, you just want to be out there and keep that

momentum. Rodriguez. A wonderful atmosphere.

Shaqiri could not quite stretch. Griezemann up to Gignac.

Xhaka and Valon Behrami to play in the middle of the park. A good start

from Switzerland. -- too easy. Offside against Rodriguez? The

corners have been awful. They are trying to hit them too hard. Just

get them in the middle of the box near the penalty spot. It is not a

difficult technique. There are so many big powerful players and wasted

opportunities. Valon Behrami is a Watford man.

Shaqiri. Rodriguez getting forward,

noticeably high and well and early at the start of the second half.

What can France do here? A powerful run by Sissoko. Coman is there.

Gignac. The first real site we have had of

Gignac. Inside on the right foot, strong. A mistake from Valon Behrami

there, giving the ball away in the middle of the pitch. He used to be

taunted about his weight by rival fans and sections of the media in

France, Gignac. There used to be a big Mac for Gignac. The burgers are

available. He had to put in a strong tackle

because this was a bad error. It must be a sharp stud. I did think

I have ever seen that before. Not in a professional game. A good tackle,

that is for sure. I wonder whether the Swiss coach has

said to Shaqiri, you have 15 minutes or else. It does look that way.

Really colourful scenes in the stadium, half of it is blue and red

and white. This was fans are in the far corner. -- the Swiss bands.

Very nearly came to the edge of the box. Blerin Dzemaili was there. A

poor ball. France are struggling at the start of the second half to find

any sort of rhythm. That was quick thinking by Lloris. A

sloppy start from the French in the second half. No pressing. The Swiss

knocking it about. Nice and comfortable. Lloris' fourth

tournament now as the French number one.

Very strong there. The perfect setup. That was pushed away by Sam.

A lovely move. -- pushed away by Sommer.

That was an easy save from the goalkeeper. It is their 10th corner.

That was a good move. He gets under it.

Disappointed with himself. Rightly so. Everyone's favourite pin-up in

French football right now. He once had a bad boy reputation,

Griezemann. Shaqiri has done well. The referee is totally and

impressed. Shaqiri is milking it to his own supporters while France

breakaway. A free kick given for the Patrice Evra challenge, I think. He

is not best pleased, Shaqiri. He makes the most of it but it is

definitely a free kick. I can understand why he is angry.

It was the old slip, slop and fly routine that persuaded the referee

not to give it. Flip-flop and fly. Pogba, strength again, finesse, and

fouled. Really good strength but he didn't need to do the Cruyff turn,

the easy pass to Roman was on down the left wing.

Sagna, supported by Sissoko. -- Coman. Up and under by Rami.

He's had a strong European Championships. He was recalled for

the last couple of games before the finals, the friendly warm up games,

after being out in the wilderness for three years, Dzemaili. His

eighth start the season. Two more than in the previous five years.

Back in favour. I think the longer the game is played at this tempo the

Swiss will be the happier. I know the French have already qualified

but you'd expect them in front of their home crowd to play with more

zip and energy and tempo. Albania still lead against Romania

1-0 with the Sadiku first half goal. Which means they will finish third

in the group if it all stays like this. Lloris kept it in. Important

to win the group, the winner of Group A plays the third best team

from either Group C, D or E. That could be Northern Ireland, the

Czechs, the Croats, the runner in Group A will play the runner-up in

Group C, the Germany, Poland group. Strength by Sissoko. Sagna. Sissoko

making the forward run and getting in behind and slipping. That is

another slip in a costly position by a player. The weather in France,

let's give them the benefit of some doubt, has been awful, floods of

biblical proportions in the latter few weeks but the pictures have not

been good enough. It has not been good with the

weather. Here is what they wanted. What a year he has had. Here in

Lille he had two years, just under 100 games. They sold him for less

than they bore him for two Marseille. Payet has had a chequered

it's as strong a squad in the attacking areas as we have had in a

Switzerland would finish second in the group if it remains like this

Wales, and Northern Ireland, not giving up on the Republic of Ireland

Mehmedi. He has not featured much in the opening 20 minutes of the second

half after a busy first half. Looking for him but too far for the

England if they get that far here. It is a genuine concern for teams

that want to play good football because it's not conducive to that.

And if we get more rain, which is highly likely, it's going to get

In goes Koscielny. It is a free kick. Change here for Switzerland,

Haris Seferovic is going to come on. Seven goals in his 32

internationals, none here. He scored three in the qualifying stages,

couple against San Marino and one against Estonia. He was at the last

World Cup finals. Severity which might not even have made the squad

if his team-mate was fit and Embolo might not have come through. Rami.

It held up on the surface, that ball. Rodriguez, tight to the line.

Djourou. Koscielny did well under pressure from the young man, and was

fouled. Lovely quote by Deschamps about the pitch down at Marseille

Stade Velodrome. He said when I saw the photos and

videos at the end of the concert they had there I thought I was in

another world, but that's the power of The Highway To Hell. The young

man is going off, he's done well. He is said to be interesting a lot of

Premier League players, Embolo, of course a very rich. He would sue the

Premier League with his power and ability -- suit the Premier League.

meaning this man who is taking the free kick might be up for grabs,

game shakily against Mehmedi, but he's grown stronger as the game has

gone on, that has been the pattern of his play so far in the three

games. Quick, reliable, I like him at full-back.

Cabaye. The former Newcastle team-mate,

Sissoko. Look at this for power and determination, Griezmann is in the

middle if he has a look and Payet is further across, he is aiming at

Payet, brilliant ball! That would have been stunning! It would have

been absolutely astonishing! I actually expected it to hit the

back of the net, with that man's talent. What a run from Sissoko.

What a ball. Three times they have hit the woodwork in the game.

A fantastic run. A great technique from Payet. A few inches too high.

He has got the crowd going. That is the best we have seen in a French

shirt from Moussa Sissoko for a long time. It was a really brilliant

burst. He is capable of that, we have seen him do it. For some reason

he does not do it often enough. France are going to make another

substitution in a moment. Here is Gignac challenged by

Shaqiri. Payet denied by the woodwork. This is the run. No one is

catching him. He takes his time, keeps going, keeps his head up, a

great ball. Can't do much more. Good connection, nice technique. A

fraction too high. Calm, assured finish.

France have sent an Blaise Matuidi. Griezemann has gone off.

Pogba has come to a right-hand side position there. 12 and a half

minutes to go. They are leaving it very late.

In their last seven games on home soil in European Championships,

France. On comes Gelson Fernandes. Shaqiri

has had a great second half but it has not been enough to keep him on.

Sometimes when he's out wide, gets isolated. As the big disappointing

with the set plays, but overall, very good in the second half.

their campaign. I think it is they have to say the amount of changes

has made a difference, a negative difference. It is the difficult when

you play in a team and there are lots of changes, to get those little

relationships that you need, knowing when someone is going to come on,

have given up hope of going on to win the group next. We have six

performance, Switzerland. They have kept their shape, nice and

change of shirt for Granit Xhaka. I thought he was coming off, I thought

that was a strange one. There is Admir Mehmedi. He has had a good

first half. Certainly, there has been discipline.

Lichtsteiner will come more infield. Handball. Is this a Payet moment? Is

this a Payet moment coming up? How costly will this prove to be? Good

skill from Gignac. I think it is safe to say Payet will be involved

in this. That could cost Switzerland. I think

if I was involved in this Swiss Wall now, I would say to my keeper, don't

guess, stay where you are. I would say to the wall, we have got a job,

on my shout, we will jump. Make him hit something special.

Three of their four goals so far have come in the 89th minute or

later. Early doors, it is 87 minutes!

Can they defend what has been the indefensible this season? He hits

the wall. He has hit his own player. It is

Blaise Matuidi. This is the first time France have

failed to score a goal since England beat them back in November. They

have failed to hit the back of the net twice as the World Cup finals in

all their friendlies. This Swiss fans are celebrating. It

is not over yet. But I certainly think they have been worthy of a

point. I couldn't agree more. I think they have played with a nice

confidence. With good quality, yes, a little bit lacking in the final

third, but they certainly deserve a point. I was critical of their

display against Albania. Albania have not been bad in these finals.

They still lead Romania 1-0. France would win the group,

Switzerland second, Albania third and Romania would be heading out as

things stand. Albania would have three points, the same as Northern

Ireland, with another game to come. This would enhance Northern

Ireland's chances of getting through into third place, and indeed the

Republic aren't out of it yet. It could all yet change here, we are

into the last 30 seconds. Gelson Fernandes. The Swiss fans seen the

happier -- seem the happier. They are up against one of the favourites

and controlled long periods of the game and had good possession. They

should be pleased with their performance.

What cancers will and do in the last two minutes of stoppage time -- can

Switzerland. That was sold short. The little

glare to Xhaka by Schar tells him what he thought of that. Not a time

to make a mistake here. Rodriguez. The other game is running a little

slower than this. Into the last minute of stoppage time and Romania-

Albania is not into the last-minute. Xhaka has played very well. Lang.

The Swiss will appeal that there was a hand on there. The referee having

none of it, Dzemaili complaining. Sagna was the French defender with

him. It is a good ball in. Yes, he has

got his shirt, it is a penalty. That is as blatant as you will see.

He got away with it. That could make such a huge difference in this

competition in the 1-run. With the placings, that would have been a

penalty, and a Switzerland when. France could have been playing

Poland or Germany -- Switzerland when. As it is, France drawing with

Switzerland means the hosts finished top of the group and will get a

favourable break before their round of 16 game which will be against a

third placed side but Switzerland get their point, which means they

are through to the knockout stages of the European Championships for

the first time ever. Switzerland had the bulk of the ball, but no goals

in eight. Switzerland 0-0 France. STUDIO: That was a thriller! Dolus,

and another goalless game, Switzerland against France, and

overall not much to shout about -- goalless. It was a poor pitch.

Terrific performance for the Swiss in terms of the result and going

through for the first time in the European Championships to the

knockout stages. A quite rightly delighted with that performance. As

for the French, not much to cheer about, really. It seems at one point

in the last 15 minutes the teams were happy with a draw. They are

really happy about it. That shouldn't mean anything in terms of

how we can play. Let's take the positives out of it, we have topped

the group and hopefully we can play better. We saw a bit more of Paul

Pogba and what he can do, but it's going to have to be a better French

side if we want to win the tournament. But let's be positive in

the negative and still support and save it can only get better. I

thought Switzerland were brilliant, well-organised and tough to beat,

resilient, and France didn't have any real brilliance to go and win

the game tonight. Switzerland had more possession and more passes it

was a terrible game to watch, you are right, but France are top of

their group, which is what they set out to do before a ball was kicked,

but they will have to get better, they will have to improve if they

are going to win the competition. I suppose France were not playing

their best team in this game, they made lots of changes, but do we know

France has my best team? As Thierry Henry said earlier they don't know

their best team and best way to play. The thing I find difficult

about this team up until now is I don't know what style of play is. I

don't know what the manager wants them to do, even when they defend,

they defender so passionately but there is no real idea that we will

show them this site because that is where the strength is, the details

are not jumping out, Spain and Germany are attack minded and go for

teams and try and dominate teams but this team is still searching for the

killer instinct and ingredient. We might not know the best team but we

know the best two players, Kante and Payet, when Payet came on again he

was the one that we were all sitting on the edge of our seat waiting for

him to produce another piece of brilliance. He nearly did it. I

thought we were going to see a big slighty thing -- sliding thing. What

is the French game plan? The plan was to finish top of the group and

we did that. Tactically. You have to give Moussa Sissoko credit because

he played well in the second half. I think Didier Deschamps is his team

to play well and give the French fans a lot of pleasure. It didn't

happen yet. That is why I said before that it can only get better.

I have to try to be positive and I know I'm going to be a bit biased,

obviously, with that. That's a loud! But it's not good enough in terms of

how we are playing -- allowed. So let's see how we can regroup,

prepare the next game, find a good tactic, the right personnel, and

play a bit better. I've said it so many times, if they can win the

tournament playing like that it is OK. In the first half we saw Pogba

hit the bar and in the second half the highlight was Payet hitting the

bar, which was one of the very few very good pieces of play we

witnessed. Sissoko was brilliant, big and strong and powerful down the

right-hand side. He just shrugged them off with ease, knocks it past

the defender and off he goes and it was brilliant and that was the one

piece of brilliance in the second half. Not only was it a great run

but a brilliant ball across. Payet is very unlucky, he got a great

connection on it. You'd think with the form he was in we were waiting

for the net to burst. We are above the fan park and the anticipation

when he was warming up was amazing and these are moments that change

games, moments of brilliance, class and composure, just unfortunate not

to hit the back of the net. There is something I want to say, what Moussa

Sissoko did is not normal. Not only because it was sheer power and

desire, but after a long run like that after the end of the game,

still being able to pick up the run of Payet at the second post, putting

your head up and still being aware of what is happening, well done, and

we expected Dimitri Payet to score. I want to see more of that from

Sissoko. He is hit and miss, that erratic in his form. Yes, we saw

that in some games with Newcastle, not enough. He can come into the

game and try and change the game. Maybe he's going to come on and

change things from midfield. A bit more of Dimitri Payet, the end,

which hit his own man. Again, we were thinking, here we go again. He

hits his own player. If we look at it from behind with think that is

going on the back of the net because if you watch the goalkeeper, he goes

to his right hand side there. There he is, and if that didn't hit him it

is going on the back of the net. I actually got up. Sat down very

quickly. A couple of other French chances, there were not too many in

the game. Gignac certainly had one half chance. He cut a loan,

frustrated figure for a lot of the evening. He's a big, strong guy and

didn't get much opportunity, Sissoko travelling with the ball. This is

where he likes to pick it up, coming in on his right foot, he has a

hammer of a right foot, he's done that many times in his career,

whipped it into the top corner. He was feeding off scraps, didn't get

any good ball. Griezmann didn't perform brilliantly, did he? There

is something that people need to understand. I love him as a player.

That's the type of thing he likes, when he gets the ball he gets into a

rhythm. People need to understand one thing, you will not see the same

Griezmann as we do for Atletico Madrid, they don't play in the same

way, he plays in a different system. He is a great player but don't look

for the same guy you see for Atletico Madrid. I still love him,

though. Should Switzerland have had a penalty at the end? Yes, they got

away with it, he gets alongside Sammy and he pours his shirt for at

least two or three seconds and got away with it. That is sheer panic,

when a striker gets in front of you in the box and the ball is coming

in, no matter how good or bad it is you panic and wonder what you can do

to get out of it and he got away with that. Struggled against the

host nation to get away with that! He was very fortunate. Overall, Rio,

you talked about the French being passive. There is no pressing right

across the pitch. It kills you when you watch it and see the amount of

time, as the home nation, yes, they are finishing top of the group and

maybe this has something to do with it, but I don't see any idea of

where to push and where to play them and everything is easy, get the ball

wide and let them play. In the opponent's half, in France's half,

there is no man within five yards, nobody is sprinting to the ball.

Against better teams you will get punished. If you do this against

Germany or Spain, I believe they will change the way they play

against Germany or Spain, intensity levels will go up. They cannot

afford to do this if they want to win this tournament. Without doubt

they will have to have more energy about them and more urgency about

their play if they want to go on and win it. There was one thing that you

see here, if I said to you, Rio, as a back four, the ball in midfield

from the opposite side, and they played back to the centre-back, what

do you do? Do you push on? They are not even trying to push up to gain

meters and see what they can do. They played the same way against

remain yet, Chiriches looked like a different player that we didn't see

in the Premier League. I would say in that game they may be didn't want

to lose easily and not finished second in the way the game was

going. They will have to do more in terms of putting pressure,

especially at home. You know you are in trouble watching a football match

when some of the highlights are about a bad pitch, torn shirts and a

burst football. When you are doing that as an analysis you know you've

had a bad game! Let's be honest, we've had a bad game. The pitch

added to the problems. Not for the first time in the tournament. And

different pitches, which must be in Paris and for Uefa. Or France. The

pitches are really not good. It looks like one of those really soft

top surfaces, hard underneath, and it goes away from you. Even before

the game. That was the burst all. I've never seen that in my life on

the pitch. Has anybody seen that. I've not seen it. Normally in the

park when a dog comes along and bursts it but not with studs. There

were a few shirts torn as well, made of paper, I think! There were loads

of them. Burst Adidas balls, ripped Puma shirts, so much for German

efficiency! I think the pitch was the Man of the Match!

and exactly what Albania deserve. -- clever header. The throw in and the

shot. Less than convincing in dealing with it. It's as though he

didn't expect it. Dear oh dear. Inside the last 15 minutes now.

Still get a couple of chances from here, Romania. They might get one of

those chances now. Smacked against the bar! The substitute, foreign and

own. Super play by remain the and desperately unlucky not to be level

with that shot. Two games, one goal. It will mean a

lot to Albania. Switzerland secure second, they will face the runner up

of Group C. Albania's historic win moves them up to third. They will

have their calculators out to see if they will qualify. It is very

complicated, trust me. One thing we are sure of, Romania finish bottom

and they are going home. These are the Albanian players facing their

fans and doing a similar thing to what Switzerland did who are

definitely three. A fabulous result for Albania this evening to beat

Romania by a goal to nil-macro. Boy, are they overjoyed. Let's have a

look at the goal. A decent header. The keeper has had a nightmare.

Brilliant. This is becoming the tournament of the small nations.

Iceland, Northern Ireland, Albania. I think it will be difficult for

them to go through. But winning a game at the Euro, they were great

today. We need knockout football. Knockout football, come here and be

stimulated. It will happen. Often tournament start well and then they

fade. But we are out of time. Thank you all very much. France and

be honest, suited both teams. You could have put your shirt on it, but
