But it is Norway whose journey continues into the semifinals. The

team that finished third, four years ago, twice winners of the European

Championships, safely into the last four with a convincing victory over

Spain. Including a magnificent third goal from Ada Hegerberg. It is over

to the Spanish in their second tournament, but the better team are

European semifinal in succession. They did have a little bit of good

fortune in the first half, and we remember Solveig Gulbrandsen from

2005, she has gone off to have a couple of babies and come back and

are still doing it in the big stage. Everything positive for the

Norwegians seem to go through her. She was making things happen all the

time. Just picking it up in the middle of the park. She was

constantly looking for that little five yards of space. That was a

little bit of good fortune. She's quite happy to give and go. That was

unlucky. That was early on in the game. Here, she puts the ball out

wide, then she drives in, and is a wide player, you get taught to play

the ball to the far post. It was good fortune, she was crossing the

ball in, but unfortunately for Spain, it went into the far corner.

If someone gets a touch, great, and that is what happened there today.

Defensively for Spain, they were not quite at the races. And the second

goal just before half-time, another defensive calamity. Just a bit. It

is one of those ones that you do not want to watch back, if you are the

player who has done it. Also, the keeper could have helped her, with a

nice, clear shot, to let her know that she's coming to collect that.

It did not look like there was any communication. She gets it the wrong

way round, she is trying to hook it thinking there was danger around

just a flash of what we know of the technical, intricate play that Spain

can do, but they just lost out to a disciplined, hard-working Norway

side. Norway have not won in seven but have done it when it matters.

going to happen tonight, but what I do know is that inside the Linkoping

looked like they want to win games. They have just got a potent threat

looking doomed after only taking two points in their group, then Russia

finished with the same points on theirs, and it went down to the luck

of the draw on Thursday night. team will go into the quarterfinal.

And the team is Denmark. We had people jumping in the lake, and

everyone was happy. When we were watching the game. They said we

would all jump in and if we make it. And people were saying, OK, I will

do it, too, and they just ran and jumped straight in the lake.

did not see it until it was very late, because it was coming between

the legs of the defenders. I saw it very late and I had to put my feet

realise that after it, everyone was cheering and jumping. I saved two

penalty kicks in the opening match of the European Championships. I was

just happy. And it gave me a lot of confidence in the rest of the games.

How do you plan to beat France? Everybody who's playing will have to

perform at least at 100%. Maybe put out their best performance ever.

Great individual players, who are skilful, I hope that they have a

good performance and make their best performance ever. It is very big.

First of all, we were just happy to go through. And to be able to play

against that sort of team, is going to be interesting. We can only

surprise people. It could come down to penalties against France. Are you

feeling confident? Yes, I am. I am pretty sure that I can save some

penalty kicks if that happens, if the team needs it. So I am ready.

How nice that must be to be a defender with the goalkeeper in such

good form and looking so confident. You would not mind playing in front

of her. Yes, in the last game against Finland, she made the save

right at the end, but these two penalty saves, it was said

afterwards that the coach had not given her information about the

penalty takers before the game, as you obviously just guessed from the

body shape of those players what they were going to do, but this was

right at the end of the last group game, which, in effect, allowed them

to go through. When someone is playing behind you like that, you

know that you can make a mistake and she is going to dig you out of it by

pulling off a great save. And it gives you confidence. As a left

back, you can comment on another left back. You picked out Mia

Brogaard. Yes, she's very positive, she loves getting forward. She's not

happy staying out of position. That is a run down the left-hand side of

70 yards. When you receive the ball, it makes you want to get

forward even more. That is a great ball into the area. She's not

writing to use her weaker foot. Coming in on the right foot. She's

not content just playing a pass, it is a great move and the great

finish. She has got two very good feet. She gets a little bit of luck

against Finland, but if you are not there to take the shot, you are not

going to score the goal. Denmark not given too much of a chance against

France, but we said that about the other tournament favourites, Sweden,

so, who do you think are the key players? We liked the way that they

played the ball out from the back but going forward they did not

create as much as we would have liked. You have got to look at the

centre forward, she likes to shoot, and her, alongside Rasmussen, she is

more experienced and they help each other out, so they will hopefully be

on the ball more tonight. What exactly do Denmark at the do? Lots

of baserunning in behind to counteract the French offensive

plays. They have got to build attacks, not give the ball away

cheaply, because we saw, with the French pays, what they do when they

are attacking. They can cut the other team open. They are going to

have to take their chances, because in other games they have made

chances, not many, but have not quite finished them off, and against

France, you are going to have to do that, and I would expect Denmark,

against France, France will dictate the play in this game a lot more.

look out for is Wendie Renard, she is a centre half, but she is also

decent on the other end of the field! Yes, she has got great

height, she sticks out like a sore thumb. Not many players have her

height. You have just got to stop and be able to block the run, put

Spain here. She had five or six players around her, but nobody was

physically close enough to put under pressure, not allowing her to get

and in the Olympics, so she is a young player, just adding to break

into the French team, but she does well, and defensively, she's quite

confident. We could probably sit here for half an hour pigging out

good French players! Another good one, Elodie Thomis, not bad, is she?

! Yes, Elodie Thomis, without a doubt, the quickest player in the

tournament. Against England, she caused problem after problem. If you

have a player like that in your team, you let sit on the shoulder of

the defender, just play the ball into that position. For me, she is

more of a runner turned full order, as in she is rapid, but sometimes,

she doesn't have the quality. -- turned footballer. For me, that is

what she can do, we can see here, where she is here, they know, play

the ball into the space and she will run through. She will play left,

right, straight down the middle. She causes problems for teens, she has

an impact player. She might not be starting tonight, but she will come

on and do a job. Michael, somebody else to keep an eye on, we could

talk like this all night, but Louisa Necib, she played that well. Yes,

she has done well, she is just, I mean, she is graceful on the ball.

She has cost horrific feet, she finds subtle pockets of space. --

her head up. It is the way that she passes, she has a great run, she

match is being so full of confidence, who was so impressive

do get in behind, the goalkeeper just stands tall, and makes a

brilliant save down to her right, she is brave, this is a brave

position. Terrific save to the right-hand side. And this one, the

thing. Peterson has been fantastic all game, guess the right way, she

could not have a strong enough hands to save that. You could see her

using her body. If she uses her body, you can see her stretching to

try and put her off, so that is a penalty. You are definite?Not me,

no. I have seen one of the French players appealing for the penalty.

Of course she goes in with her body. She is trying to shield the body.

The referee has got a good position. She's not getting anywhere near that

anyway. If that is anywhere else on the pitch, it is not a penalty. It

is a very soft and of the. France were looking for a way back into the

game and that was it. -- very soft penalty. Should there have been

another penalty? I think they had another two, there was one later on

in the game, which I thought, it was a bit of a tangle, it involved Le

Sommer. And for me, it is just that little tangle with Nielsen. You can

just see, she is nowhere near the ball. She can see, she is trying to

stay on her feet. It looks like Nielsen has gone to try and put her

foot down, but Le Sommer has stepped across, so she has hit the back of

her leg and they are both tumbled to the floor. This honesty has been

driving you nuts. You have been watching and shouting, dive, going

down. That was Nielsen with the challenge. She has tried to nick it.

But you have to be careful in the 18 yard box making challenges like

that. That time, she had no opportunity, she had to go down,

that was more of a penalty than the initial pencil -- penalty. Do you

think Denmark have run out of steam in the debate having used all of

their substitutes? Their strength was the nine France the space to run

into, but they are getting deeper and deeper and France are pushing up

with attack after attack. Let's head back to the Linkoping arena, to Lucy
