What have you made of euro 2013 so far? It's been great. The crowds in

changed after the first game? most important thing that changed

was that they have playing the first game in for a big Swedish crowd and

it was a lot of pressure on the players and they were nervous. I

think that was the biggest key that they play one game before. Then

would she have made? Yeah, I know Pia since I was little. She trained

Finland wasn't so good, but Sweden play better. The most important is

to, it's not only one game in the euro. It's more games coming up.

can win. I believe you were a superhero last night? Yeah, it was

about 2am, we looked out the window and seen a kiosk outside our hotel

and there's been drunk students robbing the man's kiosk. We were

shouting at them and rang reception. They called the police and hopefully

they caught them, because we don't like to see that. You foiled a

of player is she? I've played with Tony for four continues. She took

her chance well last night. She's a bubbly character and a lively girl.

She's a great girl to have around the changing room. She's a very

unpredictable player, which is a good thing to bring her into the

team. When I played with her, I played through the middle and she

was more out wide. I loved playing with her because you never knew what

she was going to do. She would admit that, she's an off-the-cuff player.

I think she deserves a start in the next game. She's in a confident ode

at the moment, scoring goals in the league. For a centre forward,

scoring goals is the most important thing. She should have the

opportunities to start. Would you have expected to see her early in

the tournament? Yes, I think so. They needed changes. They weren't

performing particularly well. Someone like Toni would have been

great to come on. She showed that in the game last night. She came on for

maybe 15 minutes or, so but she managed to get a shot on the cross

bar and a goal and made sure England could stay in the tournament. I hope

that she does get the opportunity to play in the next match. You've had

24 hours now to reflect on that match and longer to reflect on the

Spain match. What do you think is going wrong? There's quite a few

things. First, the pressure, as soon as we've come to Sweden, we don't

seem to be playing like I know we can. At the back, we've just made

sloppy mistakes, which is really uncharacteristic for the players

that are there, who have got a lot of caps. Also in midfield, it's not

quite been working. It's not gelling, not enough creativity. For

me, someone to link up with Ellen White up front. In that role that

the team has been at in the last few games it's more Fara Williams in

that role. But it's just the confidence to control the tempo of

the game, take the game to the nations that we've been playing -

Spain, we know were good on the ball and liked to control the possession

as well. I feel that against Russia, we started brightly, when it wasn't

going right for us, we panicked and got frustrated. That inhibited us

from playing. Those are areas that the girls in the team and the coach

needs to address. With so much experience in the side. There are a

lot of calls for your inclusion, bearing in mind you scored ten goals

in 12 in the Super League. Why aren't you included? Obviously, I've

had a lot of questions about that. As a player you're disappointed. I

want to play at highest level, to play for England is every player's

dream. I've been involved before. I was pleased with how my season

started with Liverpool, scoring ten in 12. I'm in a confident mode. I

was obviously very confident, as a player, I want to play for England.

Like I said, I've just got to respect Hope Powell. She's the

manager and she's going to pick the players that she thinks are going to

win her the European Championships. There's nothing I can do. I can't

sulk about. It I will carry on training hard and playing well for

my club. Hopefully I will get the call up and take my chance when I

get it. Has Hope explained to you? got a phone call when I was away

saying I was on stand by. I didn't actually get a reason why I was or

wasn't picked, sorry, I'm sure I'll talk to her in the future about it.

For me, any way, as a player, I'm happy with how my season has gone. I

know it sounds stubborn, but I don't feel I need to know the reasons. I'm

really enjoying my football. I had a disappointing season last year

through injury. I've loved the fresh start at Liverpool. Like I said,

hopefully if I can keep playing well and scoring, I'm sure I will get the

call up. It's England's latest must-win game against France.

Everyone -- every one seems to be. But this one is. They haven't ever

beaten them in a competitive match. But they drew with them in a

friendly in October. Were the signs there that they could beat them?

years. What do you think it is that is not working with effectively the

same group of players? I could go for half an hour on this. I will be

as direct as I can. In my opinion, I just think change is needed. If

that's a change of coach, then so be it. I just think that there has been

the same group of players. Sometimes with sportsmen and women a different

voice is needed, new ideas. That's not to detract from the job Hope

Powell has done. She's someone the FA is and should be very proud of. I

don't know if there's a role in technical development in the future.

But to me, just I've new voice, somebody to get the best out of the

players. Somebody they might listen to a bit more. At the moment, it's a

bit same old, same old. It would be a big statement from the FA as well.

They want to develop the women's game. Do they want results for the

national team? They're doing OK. I think we want better. It would be a

big statement. The vibe that's you're getting? Well, I look at the

Spain and Russia game. And Spain and Russia have caught England up.

England are not progressing as they expected to progress. What you have

to look at is they don't seem comfortable with the tag of

favourites in the first two games. They will go into the France game

and they will be the underdog. This will work for the girls because

they'll be in the same position as Spain and Russia against them, not

as much pressure. They're not expected to win, so there's nothing

to lose really. They have to go for it. We have enough quality in the

squad to beat France. We just need the belief. The Italians have gone

for a manager with international experience, a big name in the game.

He is, yes. Antonio Cabrini, and for foonl watchers as old as me and

older, they will remember him for the 1982 World Cup final. He was

part of the Italy-winning team. He missed a penalty in that game. He

coached as lower levels in the men's game. From what we've seen so far,

he might be the right person to lead Italian women's football to where it

once was, which was at the very forefront of the development of the

game. We've seen him, a typical old pro. He's as Bambi legged as they

come. You never know one of you lot on the sofa, maybe one day. He's

bold as well. He has made seven changes do you, what do you make of

that? Well, I just think maybe it smacks a little bit of" We're

through, I'll take runners up". ". That's disappointing. I think he

about the women's game, my name come up very often. I try to be very

positive. I try to say good things about the game and maybe that's why.

I don't know. I know part of that inspiration is singing. I know you

like to sing. If Sweden top the group, what will you sing? I will

Lotta Schelin directly against her many times, is she a piece of cake

to play against? No. Come on, she's scored about 50-odd goals for her

country. Like you say, all the people in Sweden know her, know of

her name. She is the golden girl. It's Lotta-land for most of them. In

the first game she looks like she was under a lot of pressure,

certainly that penalty. In the second game, she was just probing.

The team were a lot more attacking in the second half. You could just

see when she got this goal, a good finish, again a trade mark finish

when she's through like that, you expect her to put it away. She

gained an extra yard of pace, a bit more belief in herself. It was like

right, I'm going to get more. When your team wins 5-0 it helps. When

you have a coach that makes you smile like, that you would go on the

pitch enjoying it and playing with a smile I'm sure.
