Good evening. We are on late. So late I've groan a bit of stubble.

Eight Barclays Premier League games on the way with last

With the transfer window shut, we're stuck with Alan Shearer and Danny

We begin at Stamford Bridge where leaders Chelsea took on Swansea,

the only other team in the league with maximum points

Gary Monk who took over in February and guided Swansea to 12th in the

Premier League is the Barclays Manager of the Month the player of

the month is Chelsea's Diego Costa with four goals in three games. He

starts despite treatment on a hamstring injury. Loic Remy is on

the bench to make his debut. It's Swansea's best start since

1923. They start without Bony who only arrived back from international

duty. A minute's applause for the former

Chelsea life president, Richard Attenborough.

COMMENTATOR: That ran on to Routledge, who has been in good form

recently, scored a cracker in the last game. That could have been

another spectacular goal for Wayne Routledge. This is Shelvey again. He

does carry the ball well. He nearly carried it all the way through. Here

is Matic for Chelsea. Good play by Ki. Gomis is trying to

stay on side here. It means he has Taylor free. I think it's going to

scrambling across his goal. Well, Chelsea need a bit of support at the

moment, but Hazard is threatening to go through. He's brought down in a

very central position there. Hazard was... Well, yes he definitely

checked him. There was contact. Amat was cautioned. It's a central

position for Chelsea. Fabregas into the wall. Now then, Costa had a

little set to on the far side of the penalty area. I think it's

Sigurdarson who is down. Costa, well... Look at that! There was a

mope at the end of the game last season when Jose Mourinho didn't

shake hands with Garry Monk. As we enter the last-minute of the 45,

this is Hazard. He has got help here. Ivanovic went to the centre of

the goal. A corner to Chelsea, in the last-minute of the first half.

Oh, Costa's there! They've equalised. Diego Costa, goodness me,

that's five already, in three-and-a-half games.

Straight-forward corner, really. Swansea won't be very happy about

this. He bullied his way into a position on the six-yard line. And

headed it down past Fabianski. It's Chelsea 1, Swansea City 1. Diego

Costa has justified the decision of Mourinho to play him.

Oh, now then, Hazard really opened it up for Costa there. Thiis Oscar.

Goalkeeper game. Hazard kept his feet. Chelsea threatening. Ramires,

Costa. And still. Azpilicueta has gone up on the far side now. This is

Fabregas. Costa! And he's done it again, Diego Costa. Stamford Bridge

rising to a new hero. Six, in less than four games. The owner's

pleased. Diego Costa capitalising on good approach again by Cesc

Fabregas. Three Chelsea players were on that side. He just tucks that

away, with the style of an predator. Fabregas, so aware of where Costa

was. But how easy he made that finish look. Now, Swansea have a

completely different test to pass, they are coming from behind.

Ramires. This is Hazard. He likes to be in this position. He likes it

very much. Good save by Fabianski. Ivanovic. Ramires.

I don't know whether... No, they are not going to stop the game. Gomis is

onside. A chance of an equaliser. It's not going to go in. Well, that

was a chance-and-a-half, wasn't it? Gomis, who has had an excellent

game, has let Courtois and Chelsea off there. Matic, he is going to

find Ivanovic this time. Tucked in to Oscar. Matic again, a little

flick. Here is Costa, once more. He might get the return here from

Ramires. Hazard, back to Ramires. Costa! Is

he offside? No, it's the hat-trick. It's three for Diego Costa. This guy

just gets goals out of nowhere. It was a good build-up by Chelsea, in

fairness, look at that. He is just obviously playing on the edge of the

defence. No flag here from the assistant referee. Diego Costa has

scored a hat-trick in 67 minutes, in a game for which he was allegedly

doubtful. That is seven goals, and we haven't got to four games yet.

Those people who put them in their fantasy league team must be well

pleased. So the Player of the Month lives up to his billing. The Manager

of the Month looks a bit down cast. This is Hazard. To his left is Remy.

Hazard will go himself, is he? He is. Eden Hazard, still with it. And

still. Flicks it back to Oscar. This is

Remy. Oh, goodness me, now he's started! Remy, with his first goal

for Chelsea, only a few minutes after coming on. Well, he is another

natural finisher. 14 league goals for Newcastle last season. And now,

on his debut, he opens his Chelsea account. Remy took that in the same

style as Costa took his. Chelsea 4, Swansea 1.

That is a lovely ball, played through for Shelvey. Who scores!

Good ball by Bony. Shelvey puts some respectability back into the

scoreline. Bony picked him out. Chelsea were wide open at the back

there. Good finish by Shelvey. Chelsea 4, Swansea 2 now. That comes

with four minutes to go. Swansea... Jose Mourinho is holding the ball.

They are trying to get it off him. The referee, Kevin Friend, had to

come across. A bit of a scuffle down there with the ball. There is always

a bit going on when Jose Mourinho is around. In the second-half we played

very well. I have to say that it was a game until the end because our

opponent showed today the reason why they come here as leaders. We never

came here to lie down and accept anything. You have to remember who

you are playing against. What we are doing. I think sometimes you can get

a bit of a dose of realism at times. The boys were magnificent in terms

of attitude and commitment. We should have come in as a lead at

half-time and reassess and maybe the second-half could have been

different. "If's" aren't part of the What is it game. Like playing with

Diego Costa? He works very hard on the pitch. Not only offensive, also

defensive. He helps us a lot. We did well in finding him first of all and

deciding the type of player we need. After that, identified the faces

and, finally, buy the faces. So I think everybody did well in the club

and we're happy with what we did. You make it sound quite

straight-forward? Yeah. Looks simple, but it's not so simple. Get

the right faces. Here appears one of them, Diego Costa, well, he holds

the record now, the first player to score seven goals in their first

four Premier League games. Quite an achievement. He made a staggering

difference, hassens he? When you consider it took Torres 43 games to

get seven goals, he definitely makes a difference. What Chelsea had last

season, what they have this season, is a guy that, when they are playing

poorly, they have a guy who can score goals and pull them through.

He did that today. They didn't play well in the first half, Chelsea.

Swansea were the better team. They deserved their lead. Just before

half-time they had a corner. Out of nothing he scored the goal. That

made the difference. That is what this guy does. He's always

available. As I show here. He wants the ball. He wants it played into

him. When he doesn't, he has a moan. This is early on in the game. Good

touch. Trying to get his shot away. If you want to push him around and

bully him he will do the same to you. He doesn't mind a fight or

scrap. He will give as good as he gets. Just before half-time, not a

lot of move am. He gets the flight of the ball. He is stronger than

anyone else in the box. He has built up a great relationship with

Fabregas already. They know each other's game. Not a lot of movement.

Pulls back there. Thank you very much, very, very good finish. Scores

proper goals? Absolutely, just inside that box. You just watch him

here. He anticipates this shot. Better than any defender does. It's

another tap-in for him. He can assist also. He can do pretty much

everything, I think. Touch with the left foot. Weighted pass with the

right foot. Into Hazard. Enjoying his time. He made a great start. He

has value-for-money. He is happy much they are happy. Without a doubt

he is happy. He will have a bagful much of goals this season if he

stays fit. That team will create chances for him and he will score

them. Two terrific signings? If I was Diego Costa I would be excited

playing with Fabregas. You know you will get fed. Calm, intelligent,

makes the right choice all the time with his passing. When Chelsea lost

Frank Lampard, even though Fabregas is different, what he lacks in goals

he makes up for in assists. Those two together are as good a

partnership I have seen in a long time. Swansea, they contributed to

what was a terrific game? A fabulous start to the season. And for 44

minutes today they were much the better team. They were controlling

the game, passing it with ease. They caused Chelsea problems. They will

take confident from that. Danny Welbeck made his first start

for Arsenal today against Manchester City. Commentary by Steve Wilson. I

wonder if you could buy Danny Welbeck for 16 million now with

those two goals for England under his belt. It seems unlikely. He

makes his debut for Arsenal against Manchester City, who are hoping to

avoid successive league defeats for the first time in four years.

Welbeck and Jack Wilshere are the only changes to the Arsenal starting

XI. David Sabina makes the bench for the first time. -- Sabina. Six

changes to the Manchester City side that lost at Stoke City. Yaya Toure

is out after coming back late from international duty.

Joe Hart came and got there. There was no flag. This was nicely worked.

Joe Hart did well. Arsene Wenger feeling sufficiently warmed by

Arsenal's start to take his jacket off.

Welbeck...! Great finish! It has hit the post! Almost a magnificent

finish. I thought it was in. I do not think I was the only one. It was

a brilliant attempt. Completely beat Joe Hart. He got very lucky to the

rebound back into his gloves. Navas Rossetti. I go where I! 1-0!

What a wonderful counterattacking goal by Manchester City. -- Agu

Aero. -- Sergio Aguero. Wonderful goal. The spin here helped Jesus

Navas, who is quick anyway. He had the wherewithal to look up. A

beautiful ball into Sergio Aguero. He got in front of Mathieu Flamini

and finished perfectly. A devastating counterattack. And

Manchester City lead. You might argue it is marginally against the

run of play. And Manchester City has shone their power on the

counterattack. David Silva! Important saved by

Chesney. -- Wojciech Szczesny. Arsenal indebted to the goalkeeper

for a really good stop. Good pressure from Arsenal. Good

defending by Manchester City. Arsenal nearly back in the game.

City looking for offside. It must have been perilously close. But not

given. Really good recovery from Zabaleta.

Jack Wilshere! Brilliantly done! Brilliantly done by Jack Wilshere!

That is a high-quality goal. It was a scrappy midfield. And then it was

quality. He beat Joe Hart at his near post. He left Gael Clichy. He

did Joe Hart with his eyes. Joe Hart expecting a left foot finish across

the keeper. Instead it was talked into the near post. It is 1-1. Jack

Wilshere. Sanchez! Arsenal lead by 2-1. Alexis

Sanchez! The game has been turned on its head. First Jack Wilshere, now

Sanchez. 2-1 to Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez scores for Arsenal. He gets

a yellow card for taking his shirt off. Clearly onside. Tremendous

finish. His third goal already for his Arsenal career. Look at that,

side foot into the top corner of the net. That is a finish and a half.

Strugglers last season against their big rivals. 2-1 against Manchester

City. Navas said the ball hit Jack

Wilshere's hand. Jack Wilshere launches an Arsenal counterattack.

Ramsey could not quite finished. The last few minutes have been something

of a masterclass from Jack Wilshere. Lovely ball here. Just needed the

finish from Ramsay. Didn't get it. Was this handball? Not only was a

penalty not given, Arsenal almost broke down the other end and scored.

Can the champions get back into this?

An important touch from Calum Chambers. In Manchester City

equaliser for Manchester City. Arsenal will be so disappointed.

They have conceded from a corner. It was brilliantly placed. Wojciech

Szczesny, though he got his hand to it, could not keep it out. It was

almost a magnificent save. It is 2-2. The game is there to be won by

either side. Off the post! Alexander Kolorov

almost won it. Two and a half minutes remaining. Alexander Kolorov

smacks the Arsenal post. It has been a nailbiter from start to finish.

Edin Dzeko... It has come off the post and into the hands of which a

Chesney. -- Wojciech Szczesny. Manchester City have hit the post in

the last eight minutes. They chant! The flag is up. Samir Nasri thought

he had scored the winner against his old club. Edin Dzeko certainly was

onside. That makes it a very big save by Wojciech Szczesny. Nasri was

not onside. Both sides have to settle for a point.

It has finished 2-2. In the first 80 minutes we have shown top quality

and great mental strength to come back from 1-0 down and be leading

2-1. But at the end it is a result that is frustrating because we were

2-1. But I am very happy with the quality of the performance. I get a

lot of stick from the lads about my right foot. But every time I seem to

score goals with my right foot. I want to score a few more goals this

season. That is hopefully many. Ultimately you look at the mentality

of the team and it shows you have a team that is ready to go again and

that will not give up. The two goals that Arsenal score or not legal.

Welbeck pushed Vincent Kompany. And finally, there was a clear penalty.

Too many things. He said penalty. Jack Wilshere says? No penalty. Like

the referee says. On a normal day we deserved to win this game clearly.

Whatever you think in terms of the decisions, it was a cracking game of

football. Some to restrict goals. You want to pick out on something

slightly negative on the defensive side of Arsenal. It must be

something to do with sitting in that chair! One of Arsenal's strength is

going forward, particularly the way they commit their full-backs. It is

also one of their weaknesses. They leave themselves wide open at the

back in doing so. They got caught a few times last season. This was at

Anfield early on last season. They get caught on the counterattack.

Liverpool did it very well. It leaves space. Left side and right

side. The holding midfielder that day was Mikael Arteta. Not doing a

very good job. Lose the ball halfway line and it is a goal. This is

today. They want to push their full-backs forward. It happened

twice. Manchester City brake on them. Debuchy trying to get back.

With the space of Navas, they leave the space. -- with the pace of

Navas. They get away with it on this occasion. They didn't learn their

lesson. Exactly the same thing. This is a different one. It is not a

repeat. Look what happens. Leave the space, right-hand side, left-hand

side, this time it is for the mini. He is sitting in front of the back

four to give some protection. He did not do a very good job. He can see

Sergio Aguero coming in. The ball across this time and it is a good

finish and they get finished. And set piece again. It happened against

Crystal Palace and it happened again today. Three good headers of the

ball there. Not one Arsenal player goes to attack the ball. Good ball

in, good header. That will cost Arsenal points.

As it has done. Credit to Manchester City Frakes blighting those

weaknesses. Navas does not start many games but I am sure he started

today to counter that. To the positive side of that game. Sanchez

was terrific. He was absolutely fantastic. There were some standout

performance today but he was the best of them. He was toying with

confidence. A great bit of skill. All throughout the game he kept

popping up in different positions. His work ethic... I saw him playing

for Spain against Chile for the first time and he did not stop. This

is him attacking people, being positive. It does not quite work for

him this time. He was a thorn in city's side all afternoon. That was

a clever pass. He doesn't admire it. Everything good that Arsenal did he

was involved in. I love this. This was against Vincent Kompany. He is

not scared. It takes two of them to stop him. With the quality he has

got, can he produce? What a finish. No free kick.

I think he has been on your gym routine. He needs to work out more.

Crikey! This is after he scored the goal. He is chasing back. His team

need him. He is not thinking - I've done my bit. He switches on. Back in

his own half. I think he was just about the best. The other guy,

Kompany, for Man City. His positional play is excellent. Jack

Wilshere has come into a rich vain of form, great to see. He doesn't

just like sitting in that holding role he played for England. I feel

sorry for him. He has been criticised this week. Today he was

back to his best. He looked fit and sharp. He got his reward with a

brilliant finish. One-twos. Following his pass. Making things

happen. This is on his right foot. He deserved it. At a time in a game

when they needed people to stand up, when they were losing, he did. He

demanded the ball and made things happen am he got lucky. Absolutely.

The referee can't give that. You condition see it. You can't be 100%.

The assistant can give it he should give it. He got away with it. It was

handball. The City players appeal straightaway there. Better angle.

You can see it clearly hits his arm. There. He got a little bit of luck.

His performance today was excellent. It really was. Should have given a

penalty there, no doubt about that. Maybe Navas was blocking the

lineman's view - sorry, assistant referee. Linesman, old money. It's

late! To Anfield next where last season's

runners-up Liverpool faced Aston Villa, who began the day

as one of only four unbeaten sides Balotelli steps on to the Anfield

centre stage for the first time as a Liverpool player. Lallana his club

debut. Sterling is rested to the bench. Watching from the wings, Roy

Keane. Cleverley comes straight in. Baker replaces the injured Vlaar.

COMMENTATOR: Lovren, a good season with Southampton last year.

Coutinho, called up by Brazil during the week. Balotelli, he was in

there. Markovic took the header. Balotelli cruised in there with a

shark. Balotelli rose for it. Would that have been the better option?

kick. I think it did come back on to Agbonlahor's foot. He was behind the

Aston Villa have the lead. Gabriel Agbonlahor takes the plaudits. Just

signed a new four-year deal. That is the way to celebrate it. No

authority about the Liverpool defence at all. No-one came to

claim. Senderos causing problems. It fell for him. He hooked it on. There

was no pace in the shot. It crept in. Persistence pays off for Aston

Villa's longest-serving player. It's a bad goal to concede for Liverpool.

for Aston Villa. A strong challenge there by Lallana. He will get a

yellow card. He caught Tom Cleverley. Lallana very much part of

England's plans. Cleverley hopes to get back into those plans. He was

lucky to escape a nasty injury there.

Liverpool defence simply hasn't woken up. Again, he just peeled into

space. He has been doing that from the first minute, every time he went

forward for a set-piece. No-one is picking up Senderos much he knows

that might come back to bite him in the backside. Lovren. Aston Villa,

at the moment, enjoying the lion's share of possession. Mind you,

Liverpool slaughtered Tottenham 3-0 in their last game with less than

40% possession. Cisse. They have enjoyed their

recent trips to Merseyside. Magical mystery tour for them, every time.

To the near-post. Senderos went to the far. Comes out to Weimann.

Headed away by Liverpool's captain. Aston Villa could have been 3-0 up.

Liverpool simply can't deal with the set-pieces. The keeper punched it,

not a great distance. Sterling, rested to the bench, will get a

warm-up. Brendan Rodgers saying this week he wants to protect him.

in the first half, plus stoppage-time. Lovren. Balotelli,

Liverpool need Balotelli, right in there to spearhead the attack. Set

wasn't far away. Too clean sheets in their first three games for Aston

Villa, for only the second time in the top-flight in 82 years.

Balotelli is there. He does drop deep. They need someone to go beyond

him and take up the spearheading duties. Lallana did that. Markovic,

lovely ball to him. Back it goes again. Coutinho, deflected away off

Cleverley. A corner ball for Liverpool. Two minutes gone in the

second-half. Sakho is up from the back, shoulder to shoulder with

Lovren. Henderson is in there, so too Balotelli. In towards him. He

got his head to. It. He was coming away from goal. Coming down from the

apex of his jump. Difficult to get any power behind the header. Never

been beaten as a manager at Anfield. Coutinho rolling in. Did well, did

very well! Sterling, hit his own player, Henderson. When things like

that happen, you begin to sense it's not your day. Really clever play

here, one way, then another. That's the closest Liverpool have come. I

thought the first half, the chances we had I thought with Senderos's

header, and Weimann, we could have been three up. If you don't get that

second goal. Defensively I thought we were outstanding. Tactically, a

great game. We caused them a problem. Everyone has been going on

about our schedule. We know it will be tough. I think if we go into each

game with tactics we can get points against anyone. We have showed that

today. I think the last few seasons at Anfield we have done quite well.

COMMENTATOR: Daniel Sturridge is only watch on. Daniel is an

important player for us. When you do all your work as a football club,

you work with the Association, their staff come in, you speak with them

for three-and-a-half hours how your players recover. Then they go away,

they don't recover as you have been spoken with. So, as I said, it's

done. We have to move on. We had enough... We had enough of the ball

today, didn't quite find the quality. As I said, the players here

are first-class. They gave everything in the game we couldn't

score. Clearly not happy about Sturridge's injury. Sterling, he

left out as well. There wasn't quite the zip. Villa's set up and gameplan

minutes they started with a diamond. They sat Richardson on Gerrard. I

think they thought Liverpool would play a diamond as they have done in

the first few games. We see the clips here. Three behind, Delph,

Westwood and Cleverley. They changed, Liverpool didn't play the

die manned. They went five across. Richardson to the left, Weimann to

the left. They worked tirelessly together. The gaps were small.

Liverpool trying to play in the holes, as they do. Creative players

on the pitch. They couldn't get enough ball. They rarely troubled

Aston Villa. Baker covering the runs, immense all afternoon. Every

one of them remained well disciplined in their jobs. Liverpool

trying to play through the gaps. Look how many players for Aston

Villa are in the box. They can't get through. They invite them to go

wide. Liverpool didn't want to do that. Senderos had a good game.

Villa deserved it. Liverpool had one shot on target. When you think of

how they played at Anfield for the best part of a year now, that is as

bad as I have seen. Credit to Aston Villa on that front. They roughed up

Mr Balotelli a bit, didn't they? It's become back to the Premier

League, isn't it? The hope he might have a kickout. Senderos is marking

him tight. Pushing, that is all right. Kick out at him. Looking for

reaction from Balotelli. That is a bigger kick out. He should have been

punished for that one. Senderos got him twice. Hutton had his go as

well. Teams will try and wind him up because they know what he is like.

He kept his head though? Yeah. What did you think about leaving Sterling

out? He said he has to manage him well. He is still a teenager? I

understand he has to manage him well. The game against England was

last Monday he had enough time to recover. He is their best player

this season. They missed him today. Brilliant start for Villa. They have

been tremendous. We thought they might struggle am they are

well-organised, good signings. Three clean sheets in four games. Last

year defensively they were terrible. Huge improvement. Something maybe

with Roy Keane going in there as well. Could well be.

Ronald Koeman enjoyed his first victory as Southampton manager

Today, the Saints faced Newcastle who've won just once

in their last 14 visits to the South coast, a round trip of 660 miles.

Another new face for the Southampton fans to welcome, he won the Spanish

title last season. He comes in for the injured deyong today.

Of the stripes on the South Coast. Southampton in red and white,

Newcastle, black-and-white. Coloccini under pressure from Shane

Long. Long nearly scores. Yet to register in a Southampton shirt,

Shane Long, after his summer move from Hull. Very nearly embarrassing

Tim Krul here. What shocking start that would have been for Alan Pardew

as pressure mounts on his position at the club. Did he get the ball or

the head of Long. You don't need me to tell you what the Southampton

fans think of that incident. The man in the middle's decision counts. He

is aware that the goalkeeper is coming. I'm not sure Krul got

anything of the ball there. Tim Krul got away with two incidents against

and white stripes. The purchase looking a smart bit of business.

Neat approach work from Southampton. The run from Bertrand, what about

that defending from Newcastle? How quickly he has settled into the

defence has looked shakey since the off. There is little sign it's going

to improve. To be brutally honest, they made a bit of a meal of this.

Nowhere near as bad as that header from Williamson. Tadic on side

there. As Coloccini were appealing for offside, it was put on a plate

and Pelle has his second goal. Newcastle in all kinds of trouble.

Southampton 2, Newcastle United 0. The owner is here to witness this.

They have looked like a Sunday league team at the back. A bad

has been a spectator throughout the afternoon. Brilliant reflex stop

is no way back for Newcastle now. He has a big decision, Mike Ashley. It

opportunity. From what we have seen today Newcastle probably did not

deserve to get on the scoresheet. I think Southampton could keep this

ball for about ten minutes if they really tried.

Schneiderlin! 4-0 Southampton! Morgan shura -- Morgan Schneiderlin,

his first-ever goal for Southampton came when Alan Pardew was his

manager here, may help to speed up the demise of Alan Pardew from

Newcastle. Newcastle just going through the motions. Not pressing

hard enough. Schneiderlin picked his spot. Delicious finish. It is the

game up for Alan Pardew? Newcastle United thumped again.

There has been speculation all week about your situation. Will that

intensify this scrutiny? It will not help, for sure. The performance

today from the staff put us on the back foot. -- from the start. The

time to play and build-up, it will be more difficult. The best way to

finish the game was what we did after 33 passes to score. You were

counting the passes? I heard it! They told me 33. That is OK. As far

as you're concerned you are still in charge? I'm trying to do the job to

the best of my ability. What we saw was a mixture of the

excellence of Southampton and the ineptitude of Newcastle? It is OK to

lose. It is how you lose. Today was awful in so many ways. This was the

first minute. A bad header from Williamson. A sloppy pass back. They

could have been a goal down within the first minute. Tim Krul is lucky

to be on the pitch. It is a definite penalty. Long had to go off with

concussion at half-time. This first goal, no communication, no energy.

No marking in the middle with a 6 foot five centre forward. This is

the second goal. I do not know what Williamson is thinking. Great pass!

Look at the reaction of Williamson and the other defenders. Just lazy,

sloppy defending. They did not seem to be any leadership. This was

Williamson again. He had a bad afternoon. It was not just him by

the way. Jack Cork nips in. Schoolboy stuff. When they do get in

front of goal, this is a ?6 million striker who has a relatively easy

chance and put it wide. There was no energy, no desire, no bite in their

play at all. As bad as I have seen them in a long time. I must put the

question to you, is Alan Pardew on apparel? He is under huge pressure

because of the run they have been on since last January. The results have

not been good enough. I am led to believe they spent nearly ?40

million on players that come in and go out, the manager does not have a

lot of say. It doesn't work. Inevitably it does not work. It may

work for a month, even a year, but in the long run it does not work.

Can I ask you briefly, sometimes with games like this when teams when

that company and we concentrate on the team that played poorly,

Southampton were brilliant? Played with confidence, creativity, energy.

They have competition for places and they have goal threats. They were

excellent. Your other ex-club! From the very

first minute Southampton went for it and Newcastle could not cope.

so close to wrapping up the game once and for all for Tottenham. A

It was an incredible game. Without any doubt the most difficult one we

had. People say, why you lost the last one. That should be the most

difficult one. We played better in other games. The best position we

play so far. When you create a lot of chances like today it's difficult

to accept the result. When you 2-1 up you need to kill the game. Do you

feel you got away with it, getting a point? Yeah, I think they pressed us

for long periods. They had us pegged in a bit. That is the way it goes

sometimes. It certainly is. Tottenham dominated much of that

game. They did. Sunderland hung in there and got a point. Dembele you

know well. He was brought back into the side. You thought he made a

difference He started his Tottenham career postively, fans took to him.

He has been out of favour recently much he made a difference today. He

is powerful. Against Liverpool they were lacking in midfield areas. He

gets back in and gets tackles, using his strength. Very strong boy, he is

quick as well. He broke up play. Great tackle from winning the ball

off Wickham. Good use of the ball. Where he has fallen down a little

bit is his creativity. What he tried to do in the attacking half is make

things happen. He built in his confidence as the game went on. This

is him committing people again, trying to make things happen,

strong, powerful. Not a great final ball. What we saw was desire to make

things happen. Here, I haven't seen enough of this, he has a great left

foot. That was super strike. For a player of his talent he should do

more. I was pleased to see him back. Good point for Sunderland. They

didn't play that well today to be honest, Gary. I think they will be

quite happy with a point having not played that well. OK.

No Premier League side has ever conceded more than

the 10 goals shipped by Everton in their opening three games.

Roberto Martinez's side travelled to the Hawthorns to face a West Brom

team with just one win in their last 10 home games.

COMMENTATOR: Neither side can be happy with the way they started the

season, not a league win between them. One of two changes for Albion.

The likelihood is that we are going to see goals here today. Early ball

Modest in the way he celebrated that goal in deference to the fans who

used to support him. How quickly can West Brom recover from that blow?

The cross into the penalty area. It is teed up for Berahino. It must

have taken a deflection. It's a corner. Good opportunity there for

the England under-21 player. Brunt to take the corner for Albion.

Goalkeeper, absolutely nowhere. I think that came back off Lukaku.

Howard was very fortunate. Roberto Martinez very happy with the Everton

started this game. He won't know what to think. That fell kindly.

Berahino. Not a good ball. Here is Brunt. The shot into the

sidenetting. Half chance, but the angle was very

acute. West Brom getting closer though.

McGeady. To the goalscorer, Lukaku, great shot. Blocked. Oh, my word, it

should have been 2-0. What a miss by Naismith. Lukaku did ever so well.

Naismith has scored in every league game for Everton this season, and

that should have been four in succession. A hint that he was

offside. But what a waste. Everton have everybody bar Lukaku

back. They are holding their positions. A little bit of room for

Wisdom down the Albion right though. Baines. Great ball in. Good block

that by Howard, under pressure. Promising for Everton. Oh, what a

mistake for the goalkeeper, Mirallas scores the second goal. It shot

under Ben Foster. Hiss mistake, without any question whatsoever. No

matter how pourerful a strike it was from the Belgian, that should kill

off Albion. Well, Mirallas, under no pressure, the shot was well hit. Not

particularly fierce drive, and how did that slip under Ben Foster, the

England goalkeeper? He's not smiling yet, Roberto Martinez, he has every

reason to. Now, McGeady. Into Osman. The shot

deflected. Good save by Foster. Doesn't make up for the goal that he

conceded. It means that Albion aren't at least 3-0 down. There are

11 newcomers to the Baggies this season. Bedding that lot in will

take a while. . Back here to Osman. Great save from Foster. That looked

like 3-0 to Everton. Magnificent save from the England goalkeeper.

Really excellent build-up by Everton. Strong left hand from Ben

Foster. Here's Berahino though. Berahino can

reduce the deficit. Left foot shot. Good save by Howard. Berahino,

unselfishly back to Samaras. Another good save by Howard. Two chances

there, Albion. It was a terrible start, obviously A

mis-kick clearance which is unusual, out of character. Of course there

was another individual error by a player who doesn't usually make

those kind of mistakes. We made sure today we would keep a clean sheet.

At the end we gave the ball away, the reaction, we allowed Tim to be

at his best and keep an important clean sheet. The important aspect is

he didn't give a solid display at the expense of our way of playing.

It has been widely say said we brought in the most players. What

hasn't been said is we lost the most players. We lost 13 and brought in

11. It doesn't just happen over night. Obviously, we need to move

the process of building a team along quickly because we need to win games

soon. Certainly do. We talked about Costa at the start of the show and

how important a great start he had at Chelsea. The person they let go

was Lukaku, he has been on-loan for much of the last couple of seasons.

He is starting to find his feet? Goodbyes for both clubs. ?28 million

going to Everton and Chelsea really spent ?4 million on Costa they

bought him for ?32 million. Lukaku has potential. Chelsea need to

deliver now. Having said that, he had a slow start to the season. But

he played on the right hand side against Arsenal. Did very good job

for the team he was back where he wants to be today. Right up top. Up

front. Great goal? He was a threat am he really was. This is what he

can do. This is what I'm sure he will do in the future. The ball

comes out. Poor defending from Olsson here. First touch, right

foot, second touch. That is a great finish. Really, really is a great

finish. I don't know what this is all about. I don't understand it. I

don't get it. I know you respect the team you have been at and played.

Run away and celebrate. A goal - You don't like that, do you? I don't

like that at all. Right foot, that with his left foot. Great save

Naismith won't want to watch that tonight, it's a sitter. He will be a

very, very good player if he keeps on learning. He has to run away and

celebrate when he scores against former teams. Agreed. West Brom,

they have to improve their home form if they are to survive, surely? They

have won one of their last 11 home games. That is a worry. The last

three games they haven't scored a goal. It will be a long season for

them. A lot of changes, in and out, as the manager said.

After winning at Manchester City, Stoke were back on home turf

for the visit of newly promoted Leicester, who've already picked up

Steve Bower was at the Brittannia Stadium.

Stoke make one change to the team that won at the Etihad.

One change for Leicester too. A significant one in goal. Schmeichel

injured his knee playing for dem mark. A Premier League debut for

26-year-old Ben Hamer. First time since 2008 that these two teams have

met at all in the league. On that day, Leicester were relegated to

League One and Stoke were promoted to the Premier League.

Is what a run from N'Zonzi. Is there anything on the end of it? What a

goal that would have been. He only scored twice last season. He is

described as a holding midfield player. He didn't have the finish to

match the run, unfortunately, as far as Stoke City were concerned.

corner of the game. For 17-and-a-half minutes, it's Stoke

City's. Moses tos deliver. Crouch. He is a little frustrated. He didn't

get the connection he was looking for. Crouch's last goal was back in

the net. Nigel Pearson, the first Leicester manager to bring a team to

Stoke in the top-flight since 1984. That was a 2-2 draw at the Old

Victoria ground. One G Lineker amongst the goalscorers that day.

Whelan. Now Crouch. Only one thing on his mind. He's getting closer. R

to getting onto the scoresheet for the first time since March. That was

close. Bardsley. The referee says play on

because of the advantage. Leicester trying to get Stoke on the break.

Really Cleverley done. Drinkwater. Konchesky. Ulloa - 1-0 Leicester!

The Argentinan has done it again. The visitors are in front. Classic

counter-attack goal. Thats with a really good finish. That was behind

him. He improvised he adjusted. Then he finished, into the bottom corner.

No chance for Begovic. Fine finish from Ulloa who is already becoming a

firm favourite with those Leicester fans. Stoke 0, Leicester 1.

Real chance... Scrambled clear by Stoke City. Fabulous football in the

build-up. Danny Drinkwater is a night. -- is denied. A good attempt

by Hammond. This was fabulous football. Drink water with his

second touch, denied by the desperate block. That is how close

the strike was from Dean Hammond. Still time for Stoke to create one

opportunity. Beaten away. Ben Hamer in the way. Ben Hamer with the

save! The Premier League debut tint keeps Stoke as again. 18 clean

sheets for Charlton last season. And he kept his first Premier League one

intact here with a double save to deny Stoke.

The first appearance in the Premier League for me, I passed my accolade.

The most important thing is we have put in a good shift and got three

vital points. We are over the moon. That is not what we wanted today. We

understood what the game plan from their point of view was going to be.

We need to find a way to break down teams that are organised and

resolute. We cannot have any complains. We did a similar thing at

Manchester City. We have got to find a way here.

A little earlier I spoke to Leicester City manager Nigel

Pearson. Nigel, I have been watching you and

your teams for many years and I have seldom see you smile. Can you give

us one now? There you are! One for you, lad. A terrific performance.

You had a difficult looking start to the season and you already have five

points? Was a good example of us finding the right way to win a game.

We had to defend with a lot of spirits towards the end because they

certainly do ask a lot of questions. I think the players again showed

their capabilities at this level. And I think we can only take a lot

of positives from today. You lost the goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel.

Had to bring in a replacement and Ben Hamer did terrifically? Yes, he

will be pleased to keep a clean sheet. It was always going to be

difficult to fill Kasper's shoes. He has been such a really consistent

performer. I think the very fact that he came in and we looked nice

and solid again, it showed that the players have got confidence in them.

He made some good saves in the second half. You paid ?8 million for

a striker, Ulloa, who is 28. He has pretty much paid it back already,

hasn't he? I think so. When you look at how much players cost now in the

Premier League, I don't think really it is too expensive. We broke our

own transfer record to bring him in but we always felt that he had got

the sort of qualities to give us a bit more balance in terms of our

options in forward positions. Certainly the start he has got off

to with goals, and his link play, it has been excellent. Keep it going,

Nigel. Pleasure. And I will smile again for you. Not many teams win at

the Britannia Stadium. It is like the old days. We are talking about

centre forwards. Leicester have found one. Played against him in the

Championship. He was a real handful. Powerful. He has started so well for

them. If you can stay fit, they have a real chance of getting out

trouble. He has all the attributes you need. He has shown he is good at

linkup. This is the opening day against Everton. That was on his

right foot. Smashed it into the back of the net. This is the Arsenal one.

Great header. That is his strength. Today his all-round game was very

good. For a big man he has got good feet. Nice and tidy. This was the

trickiest one. On his weaker foot he manages to put the ball in.

Renegotiated it in. That has a better word than I used! He has

everything you need to be a good Premier League striker. You said

that was a fluke. I didn't say that! Premier League striker. You said

that was a fluke. I didn't say that! Ben Hamer came in for his Premier

League debut. He has got a proper beard. He has got a proper one. Not

like yours! He will be delighted. They have had a tough start or stop

Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal. Mine was like that this morning but I

trimmed it. Out of fairness, Stoke were a little unfortunate? A little

bit. They were the better team in the first half. They did not score

when they had their best spell of possession. They will be

disappointed after that win at city. They will have wanted to follow that

up. That is two they have lost at home.

Crystal Palace welcome to Neil Warnock back to Chris -- Selhurst

Park. They faced a Burnley side who got a point against Manchester

United. For Wilfried Zaha, it is his first Premier League start. He came

on as a substitute against Newcastle last time out for Newcastle. He

never started a Premier League game during his time at Manchester

United. James McArthur came on as a substitute for Scotland against

Germany in Dortmund last week. Today he makes is Crystal Palace debut.

George Boyd, a ?3 million signing from Hull City. Burnley have never

spent more on a player. Burnley do like to get the ball down

on the deck. The referee had a look at it. And he has shown a yellow

card for a dive. Now is that a dive or was there a clip on his shins? !

That will be a corner kick to Crystal Palace, their first of the

match. Both centre halves have come up. It was well short. A rehearsed

move for Crystal Palace. That was not far away. Damien Delaney looking

for his first goal of the season. Off the crossbar! Scott Dann. And

after Delaney was just too high, Scott Dann was marginally over the

target. Big appeals that the defender leaned

down into the ball. He will claim it is ball to hand. And perhaps that he

was not able to get out of the way. But does the defender leaned out his

arm to strike it. He may just have had. It is not a natural movement to

raise your arm like that. Two on three. Wilfried Zaha! It very nearly

got over the line. Jason Shackleton is it. This is the sort of

confidence we did not see from Wilfried Zaha Manchester United or

at Cardiff City on loan last season. Julian Speroni makes the save. If

you glimpses from Burnley that they are up for this. Two managers who

were not at the Premier League last season. Different routes to get

here. Neil Warnock looks like he is thoroughly enjoying being back in

the big time. That was too high from Gale. A big chance. He should have

at least hit the target. Dwight Gayle was a whisper away.

Jedinak won the ball. He just could not get there, Dwight Gayle. That

was a bad mistake by Jedinak. He brought himself to wide. A big

chance for Burnley. Probably the best they have had in the game. And

the best that Judlowiec could do was hit the side netting.

This may be in shooting distance. The referee has shown a yellow card

to Jedinak. A good position for a set piece. That is going to be a

penalty. Jedinak, arms around, pulling back the opponent. There is

no doubt that is a penalty. Before this, Scott Arfield is the only man

to have scored in the Premier League this season for Burnley. And he is

given the responsibility. It is saved by Julian Speroni! He is the

hero of the hour for Crystal Palace. The goalkeeper chose the right way.

He kept his arms high. It is a top drawer save!

I am really pleased overall, the way the players are going about it. We

still know we can improve on that performance. A clean sheet against

Manchester United, a clean sheet away to Crystal Palace. We have to

be realistic. The crowd here are special. They saw a lot of effort.

They saw few chances. It is just a matter of getting the first game out

of the way. We can get on with it now.

Both sides are still awaiting their first victory. It could have been

very different. What a save from Speroni? It was a fabulous save. He

struggled well. The keeper guessed right. He gets a strong arm to it.

Very good save. What an opportunity for Burnley. Both sides will be

satisfied in one way but disappointed in the other? Palace

did not make as many chances as they have done in recent weeks. Burnley

will be kicking themselves. Thanks, gents. Let's look at the

Barclays Premier League table before we go. After four wins, Chelsea have

a 2 point lead. Aston Villa are in the second.

The morning papers, this is what they have two say. Diego Costa is

everywhere. -- this is what they have to say. The daily Star Sunday

has Alan Pardew for the axe. And the Sunday express claim Cristiano

Ronaldo will move to Manchester City or United. With seven goals in his

opening four games, Diego deserves the final word. But upon his too

obvious and must be avoided at all cost. It is late!
