Young players growing up now have one to play for their counties. It

is a great opportunity, not just to play but to be seen across the

water. It is a great tournament for the great and good of football. You

keep an eye on everyone right through from did junior final.

Manchester City were over taking a look at the younger players. It is

a tournament were people to get the opportunity to showcase themselves

against top players in their age brackets. For a lot of our players

it is the first chance they will get to play against foreign

opposition. For so many of these players who will embark on

professional career so, this is the schooling that they really want.

home, eating properly, sleeping properly, team bonding. Crowds,

people acknowledging you. I think that is the enjoyment factor. When

I got a little bit of it, I wanted a little bit more and I think that

is the point. For the moment, thank you. We are hoping for some

sunshine football. Let's take you on a trip way back down memory lane.

30 years, 60 countries plus, and one very welcoming North Coast.

Happy birthday, Milk Cup. This tournament has landed in

Northern Ireland for the last 30 years. It brings a real

international flavour to the area. It has been a football tournament I

have been made well aware of to my family. My father comes here

regularly every year. I know the area really well. My mother is from

here. I consider myself have Irish as well. It is a big honour to come

here and open such a prestigious tournament. There is great pride in

the area on the north coast. The town is full this week. It is a

major achievement. With such an influx of people to the area, the

Milk Cup is more than just a football tournament now and is a

real boost to the country. It is another tourist event that we have.

It started off as a sports event, but you can see what it brings to

the town. You only have to look at the parade today to see the

different manners being held up. It is opening up our real tourist

industry here. The town comes alive. We have had people in from Russia

and different countries. My Russian isn't very good, but hand signals

seem to do the job. As the years have progressed, we have seen teams

coming from further and further afield. It is great to see so many

different countries are appearing here. Fan fear for its fund just

across the water are not exempt from being blown away by the

welcome their teams receive. To be honest, since we landed at Belfast

City Airport, the welcome we have had has been amazing, the warmth of

the people, the smiles. It is a fantastic experience for our boys.

There is not a lot but we can do to repay the hops -- repay the

hospitality, apart from the reform to the best of our activity. We

took the hacker as a way of appreciation for the way we have

been welcomed. You can convey to the people back home how for most

of the match there is continual applause. These boys will be blown

away by that. It will live with them forever. When I see young men

who have been to the previous Milk Cup, they just smile. It is the

welcome and the experience that they have had you in Northern

Ireland. For many years, but even before through the Troubles, it

showed a different face of Northern Ireland to a lot of places around

the world, that football is a vibrant sport. It started off from

the Troubles, to try to get everybody United and show people

what a lovely country at ease. 30 years, through the ups and downs,

the tournament has been able to expand. The thought is it will only

continue to grow. It is growing all the times. National sides are

involved. It is a big credit to the people who run the competition. I

know from our point of view, Everton, we have sent teams over

here for years and years and so many have them have gone on to play

professionally. The basic principle hasn't changed. It is a voluntary

tournament. 30 years from it has been a tremendous event. One great

big birthday celebration. I understand we might have had signed

difficulties at the top of the programme and we apologise and

understand that the problem has been fixed. The Milk Cup is that it

you doing the job of the Northern Irish tour she -- Northern Ireland

Sometimes tournament start up and things follow way, but they have

continued to push it on. It is a tough economic climate now and

people are looking for money. They have put on another good show and

to golf. Are we expecting the Mexicans to make the breakthrough?

are much more direct. I think the Mexican No. 10, that was the best

chance of the lot. Defenders hit people running down the side of

them, and he has been doing that. It is worth saying again about the

think Denmark were just going to play out time. They haven't really

offered very much in the second half. You can only throw caution to

the wind if you have the ball, and they can't get it back of the

Mexicans. The Mexicans look really lively and Denmark looked tired.

What does this mean for Mexico? have enjoyed it very well. The time

we spent here was a lot of fun. We love to play tournaments like these

to show that there is talent in Mexico. We have a lot of good

players. We are glad to participate. How does this tournament differ

from other tournaments? The fact that it involves purely national

teams is something that distinguishes it from other

tournaments. It is a great tournament and we're happy to win.

How much work is going on at under 17 level in Mexico? A lot of work

has gone into the youth system. The coach has done a really good job.

They are pitting a lot of attention into the youth group managing a

great job. One of the stars of the show is Manuel Corona. Could he

talked us through his goal and what he thought of this week? SPEAKS

SPANISH. TRANSLATION: He said that the work we have been putting in,

he was very content with its and the fact that we were able to win

the tournaments was great. He said that without his team-mates behind

him he would not have scored the Well done to Mexico. We can take a

here, you see what it has meant to them. They have travelled from the

other side of the world. They have won two of their games and drawn

with Northern Ireland. They have come out and Byrne the tournament.

The adage things for them was to beat the holders as well. That is

nice for them because Denmark was successful last time. I know you

will be interested in our next guest. You have got to play for

Newcastle. Newcastle will be playing in our next final and here

is Mr Alan Pardew. He is pitch side with Thomas Kane. EU have just been

in with your against us. How much time and preparation have you been

involved with with the youngsters? You have a busy enough job the rest

of the time. Not Gary much. You have to delegate to the coaches

below you. We have great coaches. So they are in really good hands,

and that is why they are in the final. Presumably this is a very

busy time of the season for you. You have players coming back from

international duty. Why did you take time to come out here? It is a

prestigious competition. We won it last in 1989, 1985. You have to

have a very good players to win. Headth we will have one of those in

that side today. But I have got to win it first. They are probably

second favourites today. What do players get out of a week like this,

an experience when they are living away from home and in the case of

Newcastle players, they are being asked for autographs and people

want their photograph with the the hope you become a superstar in the

future? The way it is conducted here, the professionalism, they get

to learn about tournament play. It does with players that they need to

learn to live with each other, experience each other's different

personalities, and you get a bond through that. They have got a

strong bond in the dressing room. Technically they are probably not

as good as the other team tonight but hopefully we can make up in

Sheen it -- sheer effort. difficult is it for a player at

this level to make the step up? How much luck has to be involved?

would not say it is luck. These boys are very focused. It is a new

breed of player, very focused on their careers, but unfortunately,

it is such a difficult level that I have. In 19, I have about three

boys who are local in the squad, so the chances are slim. But they are

there, and Derek great opportunities for one or two of

these guys to hopefully be in the development squad and then onto me

fact that they may not be the favourites for this game but I am

Brasil. Are you expecting a similar style of football to what we have

just seen from the Mexicans? Yes. We are fairly certain they will

probably be very technical again. ball. They will be comfortable with

it. The chance from Newcastle is that they will get it back and be

comfortable on the ball as well. Sometimes when you are playing

against a side like that, you work so hard to get it back and you give

it away again, so you get very tired very quickly. Will they be

confident enough and comfortable enough to keep the ball for long

enough to cause problems? Yes, but ultimately, this is where they want

to be, and Desportivo Brasil is a team they want to pit their wits
