Hello and welcome to the Premier League show.

Coming up this week: Gary, Alan, Wrighty and Danny add the finishing

touches to their all-time Premier League XI.

We hear from Juan Mata, whose Manchester United side

And with the likes of Costa, Sanchez and Coutinho angling

for big moves elsewhere, Liverpool fan Tom Price has

some coping strategies for supporters about to lose

With me to discuss it all are former Norwich, Blackburn,

Chelsea and Celtic front man Chris Sutton.

Is this it for ever for Wayne Rooney at England or do you think we may

see him in Russia next year? I think he has made a sensible

decision, looking at his age and he wants to commit to Everton. This is

a good move, he started so brightly this season and I feel he does not

warrant a starting place in the England Jersey. He has married all

of these things together and you will give it all for Everton. He

looks like a different man this season, he is enjoying things and

fans will be delighted? He has gone back to his Boyhood club, this is a

book that has been written and he is so pleased to be back at Everton and

as a fan I cannot imagine what it would be like to score goals for

them and you can see that with Wayne Rooney, all of the fans are living

through him. His Chelsea career affirming results, Conte, after

Burnley? The rich huge question marks over what is going on at

Chelsea, he was to bring more players into the club, supposedly.

But they needed a performance and a response and they did that in

typical fashion, organised, disciplined and they had that threat

and that was a big win against Spurs. After that first result for

Arsenal, that was a thriller to open the season, last weekend, the knives

are out, Arsene Wenger must go. Where are you on this, Nick? He

should have left at the end of last season, after winning the FA Cup.

The fans would have been grateful for all of the work he has done but

for another long two years and the cracks already appearing, he is

under the pump once again and it can only get worse if we lose against

Liverpool this began. And the pressure is definitely not on

Huddersfield, what a great start? What a two games. The manager is

superb and enthusiastic and that rubs off on to the players. Second

favourite team? Because of Patrick Stewart and the various different

Yorkshiremen you can see! Frank Worthington was a real boost to my

Saturday! There's so much to discuss,

we've not even mentioned They're top of the table,

banging in goals, with the attention naturally falling on Romelu Lukaku

and Paul Pogba. But more than playing his part

is a softly spoken Spaniard. Pogba! Four! Manchester United have

a flying start. It has been a great start to the season, winning 4-0 in

those games and we are feeling great but we are calm. As a manager says,

this is a beginning and we need to keep going. Lathan Ibrahimovic is

back. How does he make the team feel? Great. Everybody knows what he

can give us. His personality on and off the pitch and he can be a big

boost for us. You can imagine he is very confident by himself and he can

give us this confidence and he will be very important for our objective

is to fight for the title. Happy day today. Do you feel the season is

going in the right direction and you will get back to the level the club

deserves to be at? Hopefully. When you know the manager and some of the

players, their second gear with him, they are more confident and we know

how he wants to work. You are more used to his personality so you can

perform better so hopefully this year we can find the consistency we

did not have last year in the Premier League and we can fight for

this big trophy. What a contrast from last season. And the

strengthening of that squad. Three from the four signings he was

targeting, he was so pleased and everything is right in the world

when Jose Mourinho is happy? Only two games, but they have been

sensational games from United's point of view. They did score enough

last season and they have added Lukaku. He stretches back for

something which Ibrahimovic did not do and Matic, what is signing! Wider

Chelsea let him go to their arrival? I don't think the manager wanted to

sell him. He has made a massive impact on Paul Pogba, he looks much

freer. Release the horses, when the manager says that after only two

matches, the fans must be in heaven, we are scoring for fun, the players

look incredibly physical, really strong and up for this? I have got a

lot of United fan friends living in London, obviously! But they are very

happy this season because they have gone for a few years of negative

football and when Mourinho went United people were worried it would

be parking the bus like Chelsea and it is not that this year, it is

free-flowing. Do we have to wait for one of their title rivals to really

assess their form? They have Leicester at home at the weekend.

You think they will have enough to beat them but when they start

playing Spurs and Chelsea and even Arsenal, we will have a much clearer

picture. Even the Arsenals! Faint praise!

Last week Gary Lineker and his panel of Alan Shearer,

Ian Wright and Danny Murphy picked the goalkeeper and defenders

for their all-time XI from 25 years of the Premier League.

After much discussion they went with Peter Schmeichel in goal

and a very familiar back four of Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand,

This week they're picking the midfield and forwards

from a shortlist drawn up by BBC reporters and commentators

I sense there's going to be plenty of heated debate.

This is going to be very tricky picking the all-time Premier League

11. We have decided on a system, going the old-fashioned 4-4-2, two

midfielders and two wide players. We have got two wide players, six on

the table, I want each of you to pick two of them, right and the

left. We have some names! Good luck! Danny? On the right side, when you

think of the Premier League, Beckham springs to mind as United, winning

things, free kicks. Ronaldo gets dropped in. Ronaldo, the last couple

of years, it was phenomenal and what he has gone on to do. I did not

think somebody was going to make an impact as a number seven after

Beckham and Eric Cantona, like this man, he has done it. It is hard to

say he is not the best player who has ever played in the Premier

League? Yes. I am delighted we are playing with two winners, great

system. That right-hand side, I know that Beckham had longevity.

Brilliant at delivering those balls. But I would have Ronaldo on the

right hand. As a modern-day player, we have Mazar. We have not even got

to Ryan Giggs. With Eden Hazard, there needs to be more consistency.

We will reserve judgment for a moment while we look at the

left-hand side, Ryan Giggs, his phenomenally long career at Man

United. Winning the title a million times. Gareth Bale has gone on to

become a world superstar whilst at Spurs he was showing that amount of

promise and John Barnes. A player from my own era, wonderfully gifted

player. And you're a hero, Danny? All day long, he would always be

left-hand side, but I understand that with Ryan Giggs, what he has

achieved, that spell in his mid-30s were the supporters got on his back

for quite a while, which was disgrace. He did not just bounce

back, he contributed significantly to their success from a central

midfield position. I am not many midfielders could have done that. We

are talking about the Premier League and you cannot look beyond anyone

other than Ryan Giggs. Decisions? Your two? Ryan Giggs on one side and

Ronaldo on the other. Sounds good! I would have John Barnes and Ronaldo.

I wanted back involved, you cannot take Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs. Giggs,

obviously. Giggs, 2-1. Ronaldo is going here. Giggs over here.

Ronaldo! Brigg and Goole! -- brilliant goal! Giggs gets the touch

and he beat some! -- beats him. I sense we might have shot ourselves

in the foot I picking two wide players so we can therefore only

have two of the players we have in front of me. There is so much talent

here. This will be very difficult. One of each of them should be on the

board, we should be discussing... Steven Gerrard? On the right wing? I

am glad you said that, it sounds biased but I think there was no

other midfielder on the list that has attributes that he has not got.

He has not won the Premier League. This is a Premier League team. Frank

Lampard, 100 and 77 goals. Could we dare stick these two together?

Scholes, one of the truly gifted players. Happily mentioned Roy Keane

yet? Were putting them together. I think Patrick Viera as well. He was

unbelievable. Getting forward and back, leadership. He learned a lot.

Nasty. We saw a lot of that. Was he nastier than Roy Keane? Is nasty and

good thing? How many games did he miss because of silly tackles? He

probably will not get in there but he deserves a mention. What about

Frank Lampard? If you are talking about goal-scoring in the field...

There is nobody better. The problem we have got with the setup is we

have got Steven Gerrard, who I believe... I have gotten, sorry. He

can deal with that. He can do all of that.

My think you are talking two from Lampard, Keane, Vieira, Scholes and

Gerrard. Good luck! Difficult to turn Keane over. I did a few times!

I would have Lampard. We haven't spoken much about Paul Scholes, who

is arguably one of the best passers in English football history. This is

why, if it were to go down to one of them getting in, he could be the one

who could hold and sprayed passes. We are talking about a partnership

here? It seems that neither Keane nor Vieira. What about a partnership

of Vieira and Lampard? For me, for me, Gerrard has to be there because

he can give you everything. He does everything. I would say skulls and

have Gerrard next to him. -- I would say skulls and have Gerrard next to

him. I cannot not pick Frank Lampard -- Paul Scholes. So you are going to

leave our Gerrard? No, I've got to pick Gerrard. I'm going to pick

Frank Lampard. I'm going to big Gerrard! Two choices. Steve Gerrard

is in but I don't want it to affect your thinking. My partnership would

be Vieira and Lampard. It is Gerrard and Lampard, of course it is. It

doesn't work, lads! Too many managers managing there! Can we pick

a manager? Sven? For me, under Glenn Hoddle, that would work. I agree.

Under this system, it properly wouldn't. Gerrard and Lampard it is.

Can we just have Paul Scholes somewhere here because something

isn't right here? COMMENTATOR: Gerrard! Oh, how about that?

Lampard. Good it full -- good hit. Super it. We thought that the

central midfield would be difficult and it was and now, the strikers.

Look at this lot. You could pick any two and you would have a impressive

front pairing. Alan, off you go. I have a theory that we will have this

tucked up, Ian Wright and I've! -- Ian Wright and me. This is it, man,

this is what it comes down to. There are two players here who I love. I

imagine that one of them would be Dennis Bergkamp. OK, there are three

players! LAUGHTER Way is that I played against and for

the likes of Sheringham, watching Teddy, he was fantastic. I played

against him from the early 80s. And Robbie Fowler. A natural. He made

finishing look easy. He did. One guy on that list, Suarez. He wasn't here

that long. Four seasons in the Premier League. Massive impact. We

have Thierry Henry. He was poe be the player on this list, -- he was

probably the player, when he's on the team list, you would be in

trouble. Eric Cantona. Jumping in, massive impact. Huge impact at

Manchester United. But I've got to mention old square head. Square

head? Shearer, man, he doesn't talk enough about what he's done. He's

somebody admired as a striker. What's annoying about him, you knew

him and you would be in the tunnel with him and he would blank you, not

even look at you, he wouldn't acknowledge you. He was so focused

on goals, goals! You look at the results, how did they get on today,

Blackburn, Newcastle, wherever he was, Shearer, yes, he scored two. It

was relentless, hence the numbers he got. Hang on. We can sit and discuss

the talent of these forwards. Dennis Bergkamp is someone who is

influential and one of the great players in the Premier League. He

might not get in the team. For me, Dennis changed the DNA of Arsenal.

Talking about partnerships, I would go for Henry. Henry Candy drift, he

likes to go to the left. Aguero, he wants to be high up but it is Henry

for me. Wayne Rooney. If you wanted to, he could play on the right, if

you wanted him in the number ten role. Sometimes he sacrificed

himself for the team, when the manager wanted him in different

positions. Great work ethic. And to still have the record that he has.

It is hard to leave out Rooney, I'm going with Henry and Shearer.

Absolutely. Without a doubt. That takes the pressure off now, you can

pick somebody else. Forget about Wrighty! I would pick Rooney.

Perfectly valid. And Henry. There you have it. Thanks, guys, love you

too! COMMENTATOR: Shearer, it is the goal, it is the record goal for

Shearer. Henry. Thierry Henry. This is our team. Sir Alex Ferguson,

naturally is the manager. I'm sure most of you will disagree but that's

the nature of football and opinion and that's why we love it.

Ian Wright will be delighted that his request to have

Paul Scholes floating in the ether has been answered,

So much synergy between the pundits and the public. One glaring

omission, there is no current Premier League player in there. If

you had to go for the current players, Chris? Tony Adams should be

in that team, no doubt! Current player, I'd go for Harry Kane. A one

season wonder, supposedly? Madness. He could get close to Alan Shearer's

record, if not break it. A tall order but he is outstanding. Tony

Adams, Lee Dixon, Steve Bould. You can't just put Arsenal players!

Current players, probably Kante, I would take out Lampard and put in

Kante so you have a defensive midfielder, so it is more balanced,

thinking with my gaffer's hat on. He can run and run. And the longevity

that seemed to sway them with some decisions, back-to-back, he could be

there for a long time. Potentially back to back-to-back. I wonder how

different the decision would have been if there was a former foreign

Gemili player. It is a very English side. Yes, it would have been

interesting. -- former foreign Premier League player.

There's a week left in the transfer window, bringing with it

the usual dose of rumour, speculation, unsettled

The last few weeks have really taken it out of me. This whole argument,

you try and prepare yourself for that moment when your favourite

player leaves your club. The first thing to be aware of is that you up

not the first. Look at Benteke, Andy Carroll leaving Newcastle, Mane

leaving Southampton. Oh, wait. Are we the bad guys? If it does happen,

you've got to make a clean break. Don't let it stick with you, don't

spend the rest of your life haunted by these people. My friend Rob is a

leaving, Henry and Fabregas to Barcelona, van Persie to Man United.

We are used to it but it hurts to see them posing with the other

shirts. It's it more hurtful to see them going to the top clubs? If they

are at the end of their careers, they moving gently down the league,

it isn't as Hurd fell, if we are looking at the boyfriend and

girlfriend scenario. If they upgrade, it is more hurtful, if you

see your former partner and they have a better looking partner, it

hurts! It is a similar analogy. Not getting that analogy? I get it,
