Sepang MotoGP

This is going to be strong. I was doing it, I was set for the win. He

has done it. Pedrosa was going to have to try and do something as

quickly as possible. I completely missed the braking. This time he

touched. In the touch you broke my traction control system. And then I

touched. In the touch you broke my was flying. The guy trying to do the

right thing gets the worst part. I think everyone should have the same

cars and play by the same rules. It is difficult to change.

It is hard not to love him, but is he the Messiah or just a very

naughty boy? Marc Marquez continues to rewrite the history books. A

capacity crowd have turned out to witness the next chapter. Welcome to

the Malaysian Grand Prix. Marc Marquez has been taking some heavy

stick for his aggressive riding this season. One penalty point was the

result of that. That penalty point goes on his licence, one more will

mean he starts from the back of the grid. Honda meanwhile have been

penalised. They have had 12 points taken off in the championship

penalised. They have had 12 points because the race direction deemed of

the bike had a safety fault effectively. This is what they have

come up with, a protector of which covers up the traction control which

slipped when Marc Marquez made that contact with the Druze in that race

two weeks ago. That could have saved them a lot of bother. -- with

Pedrosa. As it is, Dani Pedrosa is almost out of things. After Marc

Marquez's sixth win of the season, even Jorge Lorenzo needs divine

intervention. Marquez has already been on the podium, at all but one

race so far this season. His aggressive riding and plenty of

criticism so far. But close racing is what it is all about at MotoGP

and we have seen plenty of it throughout the year.

Looking back on the championship the biggest thing was some of the

astonishing passes. Marc Marquez, down the inside of Lorenzo. I like

the fact he came back and said, Valentino Rossi did five years

previously, no one said anything about it then. Round 1, he had been

fast in the test and he got there. There had been that Mendez battle

between him and Valentino Rossi. Rossi was having the ride of his

life. He battled his way through, past Marquez. He is not at all shy.

He has been a catalyst this year to most of the championship. He has

made two premeditated passes. Surely not, round the outside of Valentino

Rossi. He cannot do it. Oh my goodness, he has watched Valentino

Rossi. That was crisis management. In fairness, Rossi ran deep in their

Rossi. That was crisis management. to say, you are not coming past me.

I am running to the edge of the track. Marquez just took another

meter and went round the outside. Marquez said, I saw that happen

before. Let's's think about precision. Lorenzo was beautiful to

watch at the British Grand Prix. Lorenzo has got the power. This is

beyond possible. Lorenzo has done it. Marc Marquez will have looked

back on that and gone, I made a mistake there. He died up the

inside. He had it, all he had to do was go around the curve, but he did

not. Jorge Lorenzo thought all his Christmases had come at once. We are

in for a cracking end to the season. My favourite, just for the sheer

lunacy. Bradley Smith gets a toast through there. Bearing in mind those

guys are battling for eighth and ninth, Bradley Smith took it. It was

great to watch. Let's's hope we see plenty more of that racing here

today. Unfortunately Stefan Bradl will not have the opportunity to be

involved, he was ruled out after a freak crash in practice yesterday

afternoon which left the German with a broken ankle. I was a bit

aggressive on brake. I lost the front which is normally not a big

drama. Then my bike slipped away in front of me. There is this green

carpet, which the handlebar went into. Then the carpet came up, and I

touched it with my right leg. Really, immediately I could feel

something was wrong. I had a lot of pain, I could not move. In the end,

there is a fracture. It is not a big fracture, but we need to fix it with

an operation and we are checking what is the best solution. He went

under the knife yesterday here in Malaysia. The latest news is he is

hoping to be fit for next week. The boys back on track in five days

time. Hopefully Steve and Charlie, you can hear me. Not the ideal time

to be getting yourself injured, three races in three weekends. It is

very tough. And they are all physical racers. This one would have

been impossible. The good news was, as he said, it is not a terrible

injury, it is a broken ankle. He is here today and there is a good

chance he will be back at Phillip Island, he does not want Casey

Stoner on his bike. Your thoughts on the Marquez decision? One point on

his licence, bad decision? Yes, because one point has not really

affected him. It has moved him closer to being put to the back of

the grid, whether that will affect him is another matter. They had to

do something, a lot of people were moaning. The keywords it is, it is

actually a penalty to Honda. If Marquez starts from the back, that

will not matter to him. Honda being penalised as they had been, for the

software failure if you like, has meant they are now neck and neck in

battles with Yamaha for the manufacturers title. Honda have

learnt something because of that software failure. Quite honestly it

has made things better for them. Marquez can ride safely now for the

final four rounds of the championship starting today. Weather

conditions looking good, the sun is out and it is really hot. Will it

affect the way Marquez writes? No, Marquez has only got one speed, flat

out or nothing. I am Marc Marquez, and I cannot change, that is what he

said. That is what we love about him. And I think he is getting to

one or two of the riders now. We had mixed conditions yesterday for

qualifying, anything can happen here. Yesterday was an example of

that in a short qualifying race we had wet and dry conditions. It did

not slow Marquez down. It did not. Valentino Rossi, middle of the front

row, he has not done that since 2010. Cal Crutchlow, a great

qualifier. Those conditions were tricky, but once again you get Marc

Marquez willing to push the envelope further. He was the guy who laid it

down. Crutchlow back on the front row for the first time since

Silverstone, but still nursing some injuries. It is going to be very

difficult. I have got a real bad pain in my right arm from the crash

at Silverstone. I need to have an operation on it. We tried our best,

the lap times were amazing considering one corner was wet. We

pushed hard for that, there is no doubt we need to be starting on the

front couple of rows anyway to get away with these guys as best as

possible. I am pleased for the whole team. Trying to find a bit of a

setup, and my guys, working on my arm. Hopefully tomorrow will be a

good race for us. I am so happy because the qualifying was so

difficult. Everybody was so fast. because the qualifying was so

The rid of everyone was so good. In the beginning it was completely wet.

I know the lack time will be on the last lap because every lap was

better and better. I am excited, it it was the best qualifying of the

season with second place. Unfortunately Marquez beat me on the

last bit, but I am so happy. Today was a difficult situation. One

corner was wet. I had to keep attention, but push it 100%. I feel

good with the bike. I think tomorrow I can have a good race, but it will

be very, very hard. 20 laps is so long. But we hope it will be dry. 20

laps in this heat will not be easy for anybody. In the mid to low 30s

at the moment. Valentino's preparations took a bit of a knock

at the moment. Valentino's this morning. Yes, he went out on

his number one bike and crashed it. He missed quite a lot of the warm up

this morning, not good news. But he love this track. He is at the front

row and he is competitive which this crowd will be excited about. He is

popular here. There is plenty of Rossi fans in the stadium. He has

got to deal with these three Spaniards, but he has a sensational

record here. Dani Pedrosa is also hot here. Much stronger than

Lorenzo. Would you really want to put Europe books, and helmet on now?

Lorenzo, in particular, had a few problems during qualifying yesterday

afternoon. With the modifications we made on the bike I felt better from

the beginning. Unfortunately, appears the rain. The track was OK,

but turn six and ten seven were very dangerous. I had a moment on turn

seven, I almost lost it. From then, I did not have confidence. On this

corner I last some time. Lorenzo forth on the grid, but he does love

this place. He won the MotoGP -- MotoGP title in 2010. He spends a

lot of time doing promotional work here.

be here in Malaysia. It is like a movie.

How do you look at where you are in the season now the title looks

impossible? You always have to look with positive thinking. It could be

much worse. We had some injuries. We are fighting against very tough

riders like Valentino. You cannot always win. You have to accept it

sometimes. How has Marc Marquez coming in changed you as a rider? To

come into the category has made us better riders, I believe. He is a

strong rider who always pushes 100%. If you want to beat him, you have to

push 100%. Some races in the past I could manage to save a little bit.

This year I cannot. I have to push 100%. It makes you stronger and

faster. It was quite rare to see you have two crashes in a row. Why does

that happen? May I crashed twice and twice I broke my collarbone. Dani

Pedrosa crashed twice and once broke his collarbone. Marc Marquez has

crashed nine or ten times and has only broken a little finger. I

regret crashing on Friday and on Saturday especially. I think there

are lessons to learn. You can never change the past. The only thing you

can do is to learn from your mistakes. The bike that we have in

my team, we have a good system. I am not happy but I cannot say that

gamma heart has not put in everything they have to improve the

bike. They are working a lot. -- Yamaha. It is not simple to fight

against Honda. For me it is enough that they are trying and putting in

all their effort. Good luck. He is going to need to fight like

centre of the motorcycle business is now in the world. The numbers are

huge. This weekend we have guessed from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia

and Singapore. The race is sold out. 80,000 spectators. We need more

races in Asia because the market is there to support it. The testament

to that is the fact the crowd is sold out. The first time we have

seen it. It looks like a different place. It is brilliant. This is one

of the highlight Grand Prix is these days. It is hot here. Bad enough in

short sleeves. And the humidity as well as about 64%. Imagine how tough

it is for the riders. When you are on the bike it feels like you cannot

breathe. You cannot disburse the heat. It is like riding into a

hairdryer. When you put the suit on, you are completely dry. When you go

out, it looks like you went in a swimming pool. This is where all the

preparation and training comes in but nobody gets you ready for this

preparation and training comes in type of suffering. This is the

temperature gays to monitor the rider's temperature inside the suit.

It can get up to 45 degrees. -- temperature gauge. It is extremely

hot and hard to deal with. They sweat a lot. Some of them can lose

two kilos in terms of sweating in one practice session which is a lot.

The suit is as ventilated as possible. You can see all the way

down the chest and around the legs there is ventilation. May if you get

dehydrated, you can lose consciousness. That is why they

tried to keep themselves drinking a lot of fluids during the day. This

thing is they train well throughout the year. They start early, after

There will be some unorthodox ways of keeping cool on the grid. The

riders are not out yet but we will show you when they are out. We have

had a photo sent in from a man from Gloucester who has turned his

wheelie bin into an ice pack. We do not recommend you do this. That is

what he has been doing this weekend. That is how hot it is. Let

us have a look at Alvaro Bautista. We hope to get a quick word with

him. He likes to get focused and get into the race. He has been a strong

podium contender in the last few races. He missed out by just the

second in the last race. Top five out of five in the last seven races.

This is really an emotional weekend, two years on from the

tragic death of Marcus -- Marco Simoncelli. Today is all about the

racing. Alvaro's way of keeping cool is a nice cold towel. And they last

for the last lap. It is very important. I tried to survive the

some strong, consistent performances. The second half of the

year has been really good. We were really good this weekend. The

conditions were not easy because sometimes it was raining. It did not

Help to Work with the bike but I am confident for the race. We will see.

As I told you, on the first lap I try to conserve energy for the end

than Cal Crutchlow. He was doing laps of the Isle of Man in the

winter on his push-bike. Different conditions here but the hard work

place. Wait to see him back on the front row at a circuit where he has

nine podiums in the premier class in the past. Six victories included in

that row. There is Valentino's energy gel going down. S we can grab

a quick word. -- let us see. How is he feeling on the front row of the

grid? Pretty good. The bike was good this morning. A little bit of a

knock on the first bike that everything is great. Looking forward

to the race. It should be a great one and Avon has the crowd. A

capacity crowd. Real anticipation. -- you have had some great results

in the past. Valentino not any younger but a fit lad. It will be a

long, gruelling race. How do you prepare for it? The bike is setup to

go fast. He has a few years on the other guys but hopefully in the heat

return to the race. It was a cracking qualifier from

Crutchlow. A real key as Matt was saying, is both Lorenzo and Pedrosa

have got sensational race pace. Qualifying does not really mean

anything. Pedrosa was fastest all week end until we got to qualifying.

A good session from Bradley Smith. Michael Laverty their road six, very

much in the thick of it. The sea IT guys in a race all of their own. A

few new faces in there. And, of course, Damian Cudlin there are

replacing Ben Spies. Talking of those guys, it is interesting to see

what is going on, who is going where. There are still 12 things to

be slotted into place. -- one or two things. This is a very different

turn. You can see two things about it. It is a very long way from the

start line. It is right where Rossi crashed. It really condenses, if you

get hung out on the first part, you can recover. You can, even in a car.

This is about 180 miles an hour, before they get on the brakes. If

you dare go round the outside, you can just squeeze yourself in for

that next left-hand turn. It is going to be fast and furious, it is

the real bottleneck into that first turn. 44 degrees track temperature.

A nice little breeze out there. Very, very fast circuit this. 200

miles an hour a couple of times. One of the keys to this is actually

going to be if the cloud does not build up. If it stays this clear,

the heat will build. We are heading into the hottest part of the

afternoon and it could get hotter again. The forecast has been to rain

later on in the day, but it is quite good. Generally when we have been

here in normally reigns at about this time. There are the

championship points as you can see. Marquez really looks good, but he

could lose it. We saw yesterday, Stefan Bradl's innocuous crashed,

that is how dangerous motors -- racing can be. Then you come down

the start and finish straight. These guys, of course, to a lot of

pre-season testing here. These bikes will be more sorted for this race

than they have been for anywhere else across the year. Just about

everyone has the same tyres. There is no real tyre war is going on. It

is about your suspension setup, your durability within yourself. No pit

stop here, it will be 20 laps of fast and furious racing. They are

getting ready. We are going to have a hot and furious afternoon. Rossi

in the middle of the screen, Marquez to the right. Great start from

Marquez. Rossi has done a great job. Marquez made a hash of that, now

coming back. Lorenzo round the outside! They all turn left, is he

in line? Yes, as we forecasted. Pedrosa and Lorenzo getting the job

done. What a start! That was brave stuff from Jorge Lorenzo. He went

around the outside. It is Pedrosa... Steve, you just said

Smith then Cal Crutchlow. What is Pedrosa... Steve, you just said

that about? A terrible start from Cal Crutchlow, maybe that injury is

affecting his clutch control. But what about Lorenzo? He knows he has

got to win races. He is the world champion, if he wants to retain that

he has got to win races. The real key to that was Marquez was great,

instantly off the line. Rossi actually beat him to the first

corner. Marquez coming back again. He knows he cannot let the big boys

get away. Those big boys are Lorenzo and his team-mate Dani Pedrosa.

Valentino Rossi got through there. The Yamaha lit up and he lost some

ground. Crutchlow was through on Smith at the moment. Look at that.

We are OnBoard with Rossi now. This is a big stop, this one. Lorenzo has

done exactly what he has needed to do in the last couple of races to

good effect. He is making Marquez work forehead. 19 laps to go.

Pedrosa making a move. Bautista work forehead. 19 laps to go.

stuff that down the inside. Very loose from Marquez. Rossi has got

back in front of Marquez. You could see already, the Honda have two

speed down the street. We have some jump-start here. Riders number

five... I can tell you, it certainly was not Cal Crutchlow. At the front

five... I can tell you, it certainly it is Lorenzo and Pedrosa. This

jump-start scenario, we had the same in Japan. Someone jumps the start

and they all follow. You can see that Dani Pedrosa's Honda, number

26, had the speed on Jorge Lorenzo. Yes, he is a tiny little bundle of

muscle, Pedrosa, he can tap in really tight and carry some serious

speed. As we watch Pedrosa are looking pretty comfortable in behind

Lorenzo. Marc Marquez is probably just weighing things up at the

moment. It would be beneficial to him if Pedrosa could get back

Lorenzo. That would take the big five points away from Jorge Lorenzo.

Valentino Rossi right out in the dirt. This is down the back

straight. Have a listen to this. His corner entry speed is phenomenal,

Marc Marquez number 93. Everybody is still in touch. Dani Pedrosa trying

to probe his way round. Cal Crutchlow has made up a lot of

ground. Marquez is the fastest guy on track. On your screen by the

jump-start. It is extraordinary. We are looking back on Dani Pedrosa. He

knows he has got to get past Lorenzo before by number 93 takes him out

again. Holding a very tight line. Yamaha looks nimble enough to hold

again. Holding a very tight line. him at bay. With these long

straights, get yourself on the inside into the braking zones. That

is where it is going to be at. Having said that, Marquez just likes

to fly. They shift up early, taking two gears at once. Pedrosa looking

good. We said he had issues in qualifying. It is a new lap record.

I cannot keep up with the number of records Marquez has broken. He

slashed the qualifying record, now he has broken the lap record as

well. It will be busy in pit lane as they all ride through. They all have

to go down to the minimum speed. A bit of cement dust put down there to

absorb some oil. There was a crash, in Motu two. Look at these guys all

bunched up. Bautista doing a really good job. Bautista trying to go

round the outside of Valentino Rossi, but there is this switch

back. This was exactly the way qualifying suggested it might be.

Really close for the top five. Jorge Lorenzo is holding these guys up a

bit, they should not be bunched up like this. Here we go, not quite

close enough. Here is the first of the jump-start is having to ride

through. Dani Pedrosa probing, he has now got a monster problem on the

tail of his bike. His team-mate is all over him. Just be careful he

tail of his bike. His team-mate is does not buying into the back of

him. We are close enough to have a look at the guard over the rear

wheel. Lorenzo was probably doing his best to conserve themselves.

Making his Yamaha as wide as he possibly can. He knows they are the

three guys behind them -- behind him. For Mac -- four Spaniards and

an Italian. Lorenzo can set his own pace, but he is not getting any help

down the street. As you were saying, yesterday in qualifying, the amount

of time you are on the brakes is astounding. The good news is they

are not so tight on fuel. Dani Pedrosa, number 26, have a look. He

has never been the hardest guy on brakes. Bautista went very deeper

there. Cost himself sometime. Riding with your race leader Pedrosa.

Bautista has a bit of work to do. What -- watched the last bike. He

came very close to taking Valentino. Colin Edwards has now entered the

pits. They are all gradually getting their way through. Number five, bad

news for him. There is a real sense of urgency with Dani Pedrosa. He has

got to get it done, and he knows he has got to get it done. The lovely

sound of the Honda. He is also trying to get his way

through. He takes a wide line to try and cut back. Third gear. The revs

go up as they lay the bike on its side. Dani Pedrosa throws himself

into the upright vision to get power back.

I do not know if Lorenzo can cut back. If the can cement this coming

down the straight... He has. Marcus takes the inside line. He is

through. Lorenzo is coming back, forcing the issue. This is tight.

How close! He held Jorge Lorenzo out at that void. Marquez held him out.

He will not be a will to hold him back so long.

If you are Lorenzo, which side do you defend first? Lorenzo is not

giving up on that championship. Dani Pedrosa has the pace of.

He went wide there but managed to bring it back. Lorenzo is back!

Fantastic. Will he get any points? Jorge Lorenzo said in the press

conference that maybe they should get points for banging into each

other. He should get a point there. He is not playing games. He wants to

give Marc Marquez the same as he gets back. Now, a big left-hander.

Marc Marquez looking really, really focused. Better on the apex van

Lorenzo. Lorenzo still holding him at bay.

This is the most sensational session. Extraordinary stuff. Marc

Marquez runs it in it deep but poor game realises that -- Jorge realises

that. We have not seen Jorge Lorenzo game realises that -- Jorge realises

racing like this. It is good to see. 80,000 people getting their money's

worth. Look at the entry corner speed. Marquez has made everyone in

this championship sharper and better. He has lifted the bar.

This is giving Dani Pedrosa a chance to escape. It is also helping Ross

Sea stay in touch. These four are clearing off from the rest of the

field. There is no more Bautista. He does not have to worry about her

dross escaping. -- about Dani Pedrosa escaping.

Ross Sea running a bit too deep there. A bit hot on the brakes. --

Rossi. He won the race last year. It is his sort of circuit. At the

moment he has seven tenths of a second gap. Cal Crutchlow behind

Bautista. He has closed him down. He is right on his rear wheel. They

have had some scraps this year, these two. Bradley Smith is the next

one back, having a good ride. In the battle for fifth position. Nice

moves. A beautiful block pass. He did not lose any momentum in the

process. He is in fifth position after that appalling start. Jorge

Lorenzo has picked his pace up because Dani is not getting away.

His tactic for Dani must be to get his head down. He has to go for a

break if there is one in it. It looks like Jorge has picked up the

pace. Andrea Iannone there is explained in

how the bike was not turning. We had Ben Spies coming in a few years ago

because he thought he had a soft rear tyre but he did not have one.

But if your confidence is not there, you cannot ride it fast.

Lorenzo has been riding it hard and fast. Nothing between Lorenzo and

Dani Pedrosa. What is going on here? Nicky Hayden

has retired. There is smoke coming out of the bike. That is a warranty

claim! That is not a good site. That is second only to John Hopkins

kicking his Suzuki a few years ago. One of life's funny moments. We

still watch Marquez chasing Lorenzo. It is broken. Not a common sight.

The Ducati engine is normally reliable. Is Marquez going to push

hard and get through? Is he happy sitting in third position? It would

be nice to have a 35 point lead. He has gone through! Can he hold him

out? You could see Lorenzo not giving in. Doing everything he

could. He got himself through. Jorge Lorenzo will be furious. Now Marc

Marquez goes into second. Watch aims to shove him out -- watch

I was surprised Dani was not able to escape but he now has that lead. We

will now see who has the tyres, stamina and strength to keep this

going. We are shortly coming up to the half race.

This gap has opened out a little bit because of the shenanigans between

Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo. Once we get a clean stamp at a full start to

finish measurement, expect that gap to close down. Dani Pedrosa will be

riding faster than he ever has before. He is achieving just under

200 mph on the straight. If we had good, clean, cool as they would be

doing about 220 mph. But because of the high air temperatures, the bikes

do not like that. Let us check these gaps. He has

taken another ten. Let us see what Marquez can do. Now he will regroup.

Marc Marquez got flustered. He now has a clear lap. Ten laps remaining.

We will now get a clear lap. Rossi is in fourth.

Knee, elbow and handlebar. Look at that. Look at the exhaust moving

around. It is designed to do that. His body weight right to the inside.

Traction control will be assisting. He will have his chin on the ground

next if he is not careful. He pushes so hard.

It is a really physical circuit. Dani Pedrosa is on painkillers and

still bruised. He has a sore hip where he hit the ground very, very

hard. The gap is starting to come back.

Marc Marquez nailed it again. He has opened it out. That engine that

Nicky Hayden had, that will be his second withdrawal. He will only have

three left. Look at this, Cal Crutchlow and Alvaro Bautista.

Those CRT bikes get a caning on a circuit like this. Yes, and I think

Cal Crutchlow will struggle with Bautista. His bike does not have the

seamless gear shift on the Yamaha. I will think Alvaro Bautista can pick

him off on this straight. Yes, the will think Alvaro Bautista can pick

satellite bikes have a different tech spec.

They are dropping like flies. It is a tough old place on engines.

This is absolutely all Marc Marquez needs to do. He is still taking

points out of Lorenzo. Unless Marc is hit by a meteor shower, Dani

Pedrosa is not going to meet him this year. These two still at play.

Number 19, which is pretty much a factory spec Honda, just having the

legs on Cal Crutchlow. Crutchlow will be really feeling it on the big

breaks. As the race goes on, the bikes get hotter. Crutchlow will

just hang in there. That is the pass into the street. That was so

committed from Bautista, wasn't it? Crutchlow has a look at turning it

back. The Honda will have that advantage. Eight laps remaining.

Crutchlow will cling onto the back of Bautista. Pretty solid ride from

him. We were talking to match before... Watched the start, watch

Crutchlow particularly. It is a good view, you are riding with Pedrosa.

Rossi did a good job. What has happened there? I don't know, he

just did not have his gear shift right. He just did not go. Once he

got second gear, that is where he lost the time. Look at that. Marquez

just jams it down. The front wheel came up for Crutchlow. It is so

just jams it down. The front wheel difficult to get that right. That

was Marquez trying to give Rossi a short, back and sides. He does not

mind the fights he picks, Marquez, and he gets results. They are just

going around the very last turn. It looks about a similar gap to me.

Still 1.8. Marquez again Trail Blake King it, his stylus or different to

all the other MotoGP riders. -- trailblazing. Realistically, I know

Marc says he only has one pace, but the sensible thing to do is not push

the envelope any more. He has a nice, comfortable lead. The obvious

thing to do is sit there, but I do not think he will. 43 points. 25 for

a win. Three races left, there will only be 75 on the table after this

race. All he has to do is keep circulating. The gap stabilised

there. Dani Pedrosa knows who is following. He is an exceptionally

great rider around this circuit, probably one of the most unlucky

riders. The chance of cooking that wire, you have more chance of

catching a fish in the swimming pool I am in. -- a fish in the swimming

pool of the hotel I am in. If it looks as though could rose is

running out of tyres, anything like that, Marquez will really increase

the pressure. -- Pedrosa. What 18, that, Marquez will really increase

apart from incidents, and those incidents have not always been their

own fault, have been pretty solid. Marquez has been on the podium every

time apart from one. Michael Laverty has crashed out, perfectly OK. He

has crashed out, he was down. That is frustrating because he was not in

a bad place. That was the past he went through. It was a block past on

the inside. Look at that Another force.

the top four in the last nine races. He is better than that. Again, you

cannot knock him. 34 years old. 14 laps out there behind his younger

team-mates. He is seven seconds away from Dani Pedrosa. 2.6 behind

Lorenzo, the reigning world champion. There is not much wrong

with Valentino Rossi. Doing a great job. That gap still sits at around

two seconds. I think Marquez is now saying, here is a little gift. There

is your 25 points. Now are we square? Jorge Lorenzo was two tenths

of a second faster than Marc Marquez. Has Marquez got any issues?

He has never ridden a MotoGP bike around this circuit, in this heat in

competitive conditions. It is physically demanding. If he starts

dehydrating, that is an issue. When it is hot here, when it is not

racing, it is the most physically demanding race of the season. Their

rematch so. I am wondering if he is getting tired. It is something you

cannot really practice. You can train all of your life, but riding

under this heat, in this intensity... Cal Crutchlow is not

done with yet. He will not give in. He is very much not giving in,

putting him under pressure. These two are separated by nothing, as you

can see. It is a cracking crowd here. You

give everyone a ticket for a fiver, they all turn up. Such an important

market for Yamaha. They sell so many of the machines around here.

Everyone commutes on them. There are literally hundreds of them on the

roads. You can see the Honda just stretches

away from the acceleration. Closes on the apex. Crutchlow got on the

power little bit earlier that point. It will stretch out now, over the

line we go. Last time around, Marquez had a bad time. Cal

Crutchlow just takes a little -- takes him a little wide. Just a

little bit too hot. Can he claw it back again? Still 2.5 seconds, the

gap at the front. The previous lap, Lorenzo lapsed faster than Marquez.

Maybe Marquez just had a bad lap. He has a buffer of three seconds, so it

should be enough. Two bikes at that corner. Everyone counting down. It

should be enough. Two bikes at that has become more spaced. And a little

disappointing compared to the way qualifying suggested. The first half

of this race was jammed together very tight, just as the qualifier

had delivered. Man and machine are both tiring. Pedrosa 2.5 seconds

from Marquez. Three seconds from Rossi. Shortly to be three laps

remaining. Silverstone is the longest track. Much hotter at

Silverstone! Paroled Valentino Rossi, qualified second, but with

three laps left, the podium is alluding him. Lorenzo, I do not

think we have seen him race more firmly than that, even when he was

chasing and trying to get on terms with Rossi earlier in his MotoGP

career. The last time we saw something like this was in 2010 in

Japan. The Spargo doing well. Aleix Espargaro doing well still with a

heavy lean angle from Dani Pedrosa. You see him grabbing a couple of

gears quickly there. 58 degrees lean angle, that is with the tyres

completely worn out. They are angle, that is with the tyres

designed to be completely worn out by the end of the race. You see him

leaping from one side of the bike to the other, he is bruised and on

painkillers but doing a pretty good job. I do not know what the

painkillers are, but I will have some. Turn 15. Dropping how much

speed? Takes a very deep lying going into it. You missed the first apex

and nail the second one. You carry the speed down the street. They are

going for 200 miles an hour -- from 200 miles an hour to 70 miles an

hour. It will be fascinating next year

with an extra class coming into the championship with these customer

bikes which will be allowed to have more fuel. Factory bikes will be

reduced to 20 litres. Cal Crutchlow is sending off Bautista again. There

will be Yamaha 's out there with not is sending off Bautista again. There

as good and eligible neck package. -- electronics package. You cannot

maximise the width on these factory bikes any more. They have two have a

system which probably will not be as finite and well sorted as the

factory Yamaha team. But down the street it will probably be better.

-- straight. It is no good having all the horsepower if you cannot lay

down on the track. Bautista once this badly. A great bit of racing

between the pair of them. They are still fighting for fifth place on

the track. On the last lap, Dani Pedrosa, 2.9 seconds. It is going to

be cold comfort given what happened on the last race. Can Crutchlow

sorted out? One lap to go. Cal Crutchlow was doing a good job of

blocking. He knew Bautista would have the speed. Bautista has

probably learnt if he breaks too late he will wipe out part of the

track. We ride with the leader Dani Pedrosa. This will be his 25th win

in MotoGP. He has had two wins so far this season, compared to his

team-mate Marc Marquez. This will bring him up to three. Rossi has had

the other win. We did think we had not seen the best of him in

qualifying. Fastest throughout the whole weekend in the practice

sessions until it got down to that one. But Dani Pedrosa is going to

lock another one away. This time last year he was racing against

Casey Stoner. This guy will go away with three

races remaining. Dani Pedrosa is This guy will go away with three

going to win it but he will be wondering what and if. Dani Pedrosa

going to win it but he will be wins in Malaysia. Marc Marquez, his

team-mate, cross the line second. And Jorge Lorenzo, reigning

champion, will join them on the podium. Valentino Rossi in fourth.

Fifth for Alvaro Bautista. A good ride for him.

So that is your top eight. A rather spread out second half of the race.

Very significant points wise. Very entertaining in the first half. A

good ride from Hernandez. I am waiting to see the body language

between Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo. It was pretty boisterous

stuff. Marc Marquez does not ride to make friends. Yes, Jorge Lorenzo is

looking at this championship slipping through his fingers. He

needed this race. A very, very solid ride by Dani Pedrosa. Marquez does

not need to turn up for the next round and Lorenzo could win it and

it would probably still not be enough. It is that tough. The great

price Dani Pedrosa pays is that twice he has not finished. He made a

mistake in Germany and his twice he has not finished. He made a

team-mates made mistakes him in the last race. Lorenzo hurt himself in

Holland. He did manage to get some points. Interesting. I do not think

Lorenzo would have offered the hand myself. I am pleased to see that.

Whatever you think of anyone, anyone riding at this sort of level, you

have a huge respect for them. Jorge was a little nasty towards him at

the press conference. A poignant moment for Valentino Rossi. This is

where Marco Simoncelli was killed moment for Valentino Rossi. This is

two years ago. It is a tough moment for the Rossini team. A tough moment

for everyone. We all enjoyed him racing.

I know you were looking forward to drink. Can you imagine what these

are feeling? They will probably have water though. Nicely done, Dani

Pedrosa. Marquez has extended his lead over Lorenzo. Dani Pedrosa has

actually closed up on Lorenzo as well. So second place in the

Championship is very much wide open. Marc Marquez could wrap up the

Championship. He could. Jorge will not be pleased with that. He did his

best. Truthfully, the Honda looks to be the better package at the moment.

Credit to both the drivers on the Hondas. If Jorge Lorenzo had not had

that crash in Holland... It was a block pass from Marc Marquez again.

Great, great racing. He cannot carry the corner speed as

he goes down but is able to run it out wide. There is nothing in the

rule book which says you cannot do that.

Fourth again. I think he was saying he had some brake problems there.

Fewer places are harder on breaks them here. At the end, from Rossi to

Dani Pedrosa, there was ten seconds in it. Once Rossi was in a comfort

zone, no one was challenging him. Let us confirm the result. The three

Spaniards have done it again. Marc, congratulations. One step

closer to the championships. What was it like in these conditions? In

the end it was quite hard. I had a good battle with Jorge in the

beginning. I tried to do a quick overtake but we lost time there. We

had a great battle. I saw there was too much risk to try and catch Dani

Pedrosa. I thought, second will be OK. Match point now in Phillip

Island in one week. Good luck. Thank you. A few things would have to

Crutchlow did his best. Yes, I think he did. He could not

get any grip, spinning out the corners. Congratulations Dani

you got in front? It looked comfortable. It was not because the

conditions were extremely hot. Actually, on the grid, I was already

super warm. I knew it would be tough. I had a good run and enjoyed

it very much. Thanks to all my fans who supported me in the last week.

Congratulations. Yes, congratulations indeed.

So, Valentino Rossi looks safe in fourth in the Championship. Most of

those places seem to be pretty resolved. They do. Barbera slipping

down with his injury. Jorge, I am sure you are

disappointed with that result. Some quite tense moments. How was it for

you? The only thing I could do was try and overtake him again and

again. I did not want to get nervous and make some mistakes. But when you

are slower, it is difficult. Today they are much much faster. We

finished in third place, the best result we could make. Thank you.

It is impossible in fact because all Marc Marquez has to do in Phillip

Island is back himself seven points and it is all over. There are only

50 points left after Phillip Island. So he only has to get seven points

and it is all done. That was Dani Pedrosa taking the

lead on turn 15. Nicely done. Once you are parked in the middle of the

track that is it. He has not got much to do in Phillip Island. Just

keep his nose clean and not injure himself. He did today. If he has the

same result as we have seen here, it will be done. Not enough points

left. Look at that crowd. And what a stadium. Built in 1999. Quite a

spectacular circuit. A great place to watch from. You can watch three

or four corners from that stand. A special place. If you have a cold

beer, a nice spot to be. So, for the Championship, we wonder if Jorge

Lorenzo can do better than third in Australia. Then we go to Japan and

we keep going. They are not friends. Not a great deal of love lost

amongst those three but that is motor racing for you. You can be

mates with people slower than you but when you are fighting for a

championship, it is tense out there. Or just amongst the riders

and teams but you are fighting for the team managers. It is a tense

event. Once you retire, you mellow a great deal. Everyone mellows.

This is interesting. Honda is in fine Vettel.

It was a controversial moment when they lost the 25 points from the

manufacturers championship. Pretty special trophies. Mentally to

helmets. They will wish they had those on today. -- ventilated. A

nice breeze. The rain stayed away. That was extraordinary. The sun

stayed out the whole time, there was no cloud cover to cool things off. A

big round of applause. These guys have got to pack everything up

tonight. Head to the airport to Kuala Lumpur where they will be

shipped out to Melbourne. A punishing schedule. Good to

Dani Pedrosa on the top step of the podium. Still very much a

competitive rider. Now that Marquez is the man, still a very able

team-mate. Lorenzo has Rossi as a great back-up. If Marquez is going

to be the charge of the future, having someone as experienced as

Dani Pedrosa, even in a number two rule, will be very useful for Honda.

Arguably, the title for a second is what we have got to keep an eye on

now. Another win to add to his tally. A

third for the year. Fantastic victory for Dani Pedrosa

at the Malaysian Grand Prix. You get the feeling that as long as this

championship is alive, Jorge Lorenzo will keep fighting. 80,000 people

championship is alive, Jorge Lorenzo enjoy this race, I hope you enjoyed
