Rossi? Dishonouring the Roman emperor back in 2001... Sometimes

comes a moment when the current hierarchy has to lie down... They

have hit each other! Foot down, off the track! And Valentino Rossi is

going off! Casey Stoner tries to come back... The question is, are we

witnessing any changing of the guard over the reigning aristocracy assert

their dominance? Enough for a Jorge Lorenzo to think about heading into

the fourth round of the MotoGP World Championship. Welcome to the man for

the French word -- French Grand Prix that looks set to take place in iffy

conditions. We could see some surprises at the front and perhaps

if with different winner from the opening four rounds of the season.

It has been one apiece for Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez, who

leads the Championship by virtue of that backyard move on his fellow

Spaniard two weeks ago. Cal Crutchlow dies in fifth place and

the good news is he is fit to ride today after a late fitness check

this morning. He had quite a heavy crash during free practice yesterday

morning, look at this. Like he loses traction on the rear in the dry

conditions and he came down hard. The session was red flagged as he

was lying prone on the floor. We were all worried but he did not need

any stretch, he rode his bike! He was diagnosed with a fracture to the

top of his tibia and he also had taken quite a knock to his head,

which is why he had to go through checks this morning but he is like

Chuck Norris, it will be 28 lap of gruelling racing for him this

afternoon. you have had a nice few days hanging out together. You seem

to get on quite well. There seems to be some mutual respect between you.

Good fun? Yes. We went to Disneyland. I felt really sick on

the rides. Me and Randy De Puniet didn't like it. It is great for the

fans here. There are lots of British fans came over as well. Is is

extremely competitive. You have not had your friendship tested on

track, have you? We thought we would get you both in the simulator and

see how you get on. I think the machinery is going to play a big

part. Go on. No contact? I am watching. All equal machinery. Good

luck. No, no, no! Well, guys, there were a few moments the four races to

deliberate on. A few penalties. They didn't go to the last corner, did

Crutchlow can take Georgia Lorenzo to the final corner. The team

manager the Tech three has confirmed that they are in talks with Pol

Esparago. You have been keeping an eye on the progress of Cal

Crutchlow. It looks like Pol Esparago might be moving up. You

have had a hit operation recently. What are the chances of seeing you

on the grid next year? The chances are 50-50 right now. I have had some

hip replacement surgery. A few weeks out since I have had that. I have

recovered well. I am walking around. That is the best art. -- part. It is

just amazing to be back in the paddock. It is an adrenaline rush

being here. It is great to see you're looking fit and healthy after

a difficult few years. Yes, we are expecting our first child, me and my

British wife, Ashley, at the end of -- at the end of September. I am

over the moon. It is an amazing experience. I am really happy about

it, and so is she. She is over in San Diego right now, soaking up a

little bit of sunshine. I wish we were, to estimation mark --! Marc

Marquez, with that elbow dragging style, is taking it to a new level.

Yes, I have been doing the elbow dragging since 2007, but he is doing

a very good job. I am very happy for him. He is making the championship

really exciting. He has got no respect for all of the older boys,

but he is doing a great job. Let's see of Cal Crutchlow can catch up

with him, because he has been really riding well. I am told that Lewis

Hamilton is here behind me. Just been intimate Jorge Lorenzo. -- in

to meet Jorge Lorenzo. It is great to meet you, Lewis. I believe this

is your first time at a MotoGP event. How does it compare, the

atmosphere, to Formula one? atmosphere is great. It is very

similar. I am buzzing. I have never been to a MotoGP race before. I

watch it on TV all the time. I am a big fan of bikes. And the British

guy, Cal Crutchlow, going out there with a fractured tibia. He has got

that build spirit like you. Have I got that bulldog spirit? No

estimation mark --! This is kind of reminiscent of the way that you came

onto the scene in Formula one. Not any respect our reputations. -- not

any respect for reputations. Yes, not being scared of him, not being

afraid. Just going out there and doing the best you can. Coming on

the scene like that is phenomenal. What he is doing is incredible.

just saw your overtaking of Fernando Alonso in that first race in 2007 in

Australia. It is reminiscent of the way that Marc Marquez has coming.

Who do you fancy in the race? don't like to say. I wish everyone

the best. I watching the Yamahas as well. They put on a great show. I

have been watching Valentino Rossi for years. It would be great to see

him. And also, Lorenzo. I wish them all the best. Enjoy the rest of the

up on the grid. Here is Charlie. After crash in practice four, Marc

Marquez continued his assault on the MotoGP establishment, grabbing pole

position. It was close, with Jorge Lorenzo just 300 summer second

adrift. -- three hundredths of a second adrift. It is a very good

time. I am very happy for that. Today, we have dry weather and the

forecast should be rain, . The big surprise was the gardai's Andrea

Dovizioso, who claimed third position. We knew that we had the

Ducati working better. We are closer. But anyway, I think,

tomorrow, we can have a good race, ended right, I hope. -- in the dry,

I hope. Dani Pedrosa crashed with nine minutes remaining of a very

short session. He is behind Stefan Bradl and Cal Crutchlow. The

disappointment of the day was Valentino Rossi who after showing

good taste on Friday will start from eighth place on the grid. -- good

pace on Friday. Confirmation of those positions. Fantastic

performance from Bradley Smith to qualify in ninth place. Look at

Valentino Rossi coming into the middle of that third row in eighth

position. As you can see, we're out on the grid. We have got Steve and C

with us. Just looking at qualifying for this. That took lace in the

drive. Now it is spitting with rain. Can you imagine running up there,

under turn one, side-by-side with this lot? It would be absolutely

horrible. It was wet in the warmup, but not as wet as this, but it could

still dry out. It is looking brighter, but really, who knows?

will take forever to dry out, even if it stopped now. Starting with a

wet race and wet tyres, so the riders will be free to come in and

change if they want. It is not just like Formula one the way that you

change tyres. If you want to come and have a look at what gets changed

on the bike, the first thing is, you change the tyres, the wet tyre as

opposed to the right tyre, you change the desktop, the disc brake,

and you change the linkage on the bike. The rear spring down inside

their gets changed. And interestingly, the wet tyre, the

rear tyre, is smaller than the dry tyre. And they take a link out of

the chain and shorten the wheelbase. You have got to make sure that those

are the changes that take place in a wet race. But they could change to

the dry bite. It looks unlikely because the rain has continued. If

it is fully wet all the way to the end, we have seen Valentino, on the

podium for the last two years on the Yamaha but with the problems in the

dry, this would be a very big chance? He was quicker with Ducati

and the Ducati has done pretty well with Dovizioso. But he has won three

out of four races, Jorge Lorenzo, he was smoking in the wet plaster, I

cannot imagine him not winning. was speaking to the guys this

morning and they are getting those wet settings, you just had to

something added that you hope will work and you never know until you

get out there but getting off the line, Randy De Puniet fell off last

year, you are trying to put 200 horsepower on the wet track. Let's

hope nothing like that happens this year. Not ideal conditions but

thankfully the boys did get some dry time during free practice on Friday,

are looking for is a very big question but what do I compare with?

That is important, he knows exactly what he is doing but he cannot see

what all of the other guys are doing. If he has a problem in the

turn and he will tell but to the technicians and able work with it,

but I can see that the others are also struggling in that particular

corner so we need to Allen said information, maybe he is not the

only one struggling and perhaps the track is slippery or not. It is

important for him to know and to analyse and I can confirm what he

feels. At Le Mans, what are the strong and the weaker points?

keeping corner speed so consistency and smooth cornering is very

important for him and when his bike is able to let him do that, then he

is quite fast at this track. But when he doesn't, he struggles.

Well, it is a very difficult corner. It looks easy but they come

from quite a fast speed downwards into this double apex so the bike is

pushing quite a lot and it is difficult to stop so that is why

many riders run off the track here and they don't go on to the gravel

but they are not able to stop their bike well and they run wide.

have the live timing going out here, what are you looking for? I can

compare the speeds with other riders and he is in a very good rhythm at

the moment and I can check those splits, where he struggles compared

to others. Split to and three, he has not read. This is where we would

go for the next practice. I am sure you will be doing worse sessions in

the rain? -- more sessions. You guys would bother me any more and I won't

miss any more laps! -- will not bother me. Interesting insight into

what goes on during free practice, he knows a thing or two about

racing, the former 250 cc winner himself and instrumental in the

success of Jorge Lorenzo. As it can see, now Jorge Lorenzo on the grid,

he has gone for a quick toilet brake. Dovizioso on the outside, the

first round row for the Ducati factory team and a one-year body

likes this track and these conditions and has been on the

podium in all classes no fewer than seven times. Marc Marquez, no

interruption necessarily, leading the world Championship after three

rounds and looking to take his fourth podium out of four races, no

rider has done that at the start of their career since PRG. Lets look

just behind the second row. It looks like the local circuit is stealing

my thunder, getting in... Will he comment on the gentle man's

clothing? He has got away with it. Lets get his team-mate, Bradley

Smith... He also had an excellent qualifying session. Equalling his

best horrifying of ninth place on the grid and you said beforehand

that you do not want half and half, well it isn't, it is raining but you

have not ridden in the wet on a MotoGP bike, yet? I had a couple of

laps if you terms to ring the testing but not really rain like

this, it is cold and it is wet so it will be slippery so I am just trying

to take things step-by-step and we know if we finish the race, we will

get a good result, that is normally what happens in the rain so just

ride with my limits and see where we can end up at the end of it. How can

you make any gameplan when the conditions are so new? It changes

every lap, the track is ever evolving and the tyres, the way that

they warm up and the feeling you get, so we just have to adapt to the

current situation and to the best we can. Good luck. I think Matt is with

Cal Crutchlow? Final preparations, you guys have had a lot to do since

24 hours ago and high feeling? -- how are you feeling? I cannot say

much, you have not put on your proper Attar? I am fine, we have a

small lake fracture, the top of my tibia, towards my knee, and my knee

is quite swollen, some internal bleeding and I was coughing up blood

and a red nose bleeds when it crashed initially, but I am OK. This

morning, warmup went OK and I am looking forward to the race, same

conditions as last year, so they should move this race to be on in

the top non-factory rider on the grid, as he has been at every race

so far, he has eyed qualified the factory man, Valentino Rossi. Not

the best session for him? Jeremy Burgess, you were on the pace on

Friday but fell off in qualifying, what has been the problem? No real

problem, yesterday we made a mess of qualification, as we seem to have

done all year but the pace in the practices was good, this morning we

tried a couple of things with two bikes in different settings in the

rain so that was not an issue, we were not worried about the times

this morning and we hope we have it very good package for this

afternoon. You had that win in 2008, what can you do hear? It is a good

track for Yamaha? We just have to see how the race starts, nobody has

had any malpractice in the rain so I guess we just have to keep things up

and keep going to the end. Good luck. Cheers, thanks. Valentina will

be one to watch, it's also look at Michael Laverty, starting from 20th

place but in the dry, your lap times were close to the boys in front,

what are you expecting? I am normally fairly good in the wet but

this morning was my first time in the wet and I felt terrible, to be

honest. Fingers crossed we shall get more comfortable but it was pretty

poor this morning. I am not holding my breath for anything outstanding

but hopefully we can do a decent job. In the wet, less horsepower,

not so much of a disadvantage, any chance that you have your eyes on

some prototype guys this afternoon? Not today, it was a big culture

shock this morning in the wet so still a bit to learn before we can

get the maximum out of this bike in the rain. Just keep my head up and

hope we don't make any mistakes. Michael is well supported with his

lovely fiancee, but his brother, Eugene, is also here. Supporting a

brother out there. You were also a world Superbike rider? It is not

perfect for Michael, he has not ridden this bike before. Michael is

good and the wet. We spoke to you briefly yesterday during qualifying

but in general it has been a very steep learning curve, stepping up

from British superbikes into this panic. Yes and he has been doing

brilliantly, he has surprised a lot of people and it has been difficult

developing this new bike and I think he is going to show us what he is

capable of before too long. The boys at the front, quick production?

splash fantastic, that was. And for the first half, it will be exactly

what we're going to expect here. It is lighter out there but as we sail

on the grid, it is going to take at least one dozen laps, even if it

completely stops raining, for any usable driveline? I am guessing

somewhere around 19, 25, 26 seconds before you can come in and change

hikes. The rider has two now when he can ride and when he cannot on those

wet tyres. But also, the team has to work out if anybody comes in, and

all of these permutations have to be sorted out so it does become a team

effort between the boys out there and the pit board. Or, I've had

enough, I quit! We want to see more clear visor is, Lewis Hamilton

wishing he was not out there, it is one thing in the car but on a motor

cycle, that puts it on it different level a game. In formula one, you

still get wet. And I am pleased to see that Jorge Lorenzo has got his

clear visor and we shall see those piercing eyes. Those eyes are

looking about 200 metres down the road. It is about looking about at

where you want to go. Marc Marquez will see what he can do, he was

pretty quick in the wet, Cal Crutchlow on the second, Dani

Pedrosa also. He threw down the road, right in the middle of that

short session but he does start very well. Valentino Rossi, marvellous

rider, as the world knows, and it ever was a chance for him to strut

his stuff, this would be aired, it does not matter if you are in the

middle of road number three, he can use his craft. As Matt said when he

was talking to Michael Laverty, it is a great leveller, rain? It is,

but it is also about confidence and that clearly comes from wet bikes,

the dry bike will work the same but it is about balance, and the top

teams, they know exactly what to put on the bikes. They don't know what

exactly will work on the day but they know the settings they have to

go to with engine mapping and the power. You don't need the top force.

But you do need to have the balance and the feedback, and there are

80,000 wet French people today. And some English people, I saw some

bikes, riding over from the continent. Lots of campers, wet

tenths, this costing as it is, but it would be awful, camping out here.

It was reading this hard all night stop Nike you have no spirit! You

would be thriving if you were mould. It looks absolutely grim.

Lorenzo should be very strong around here. The key to that is that

although they can get a very fast lap out of that bike and Dovizioso

has been more successful than Valentino, nonetheless, they run out

of puff in the drive. But, in the wet, it takes a bit of a load of.

Trying to get that power down as you power up the hill, it is a 2.6 mile

circuit. 28 laps. And try to stay off the Astroturf, or anything other

than the blast -- -- the black you like. The revs are up, ready for

a start. Cracking start from Dovizioso. Side-by-side, Dovizioso

has got it, I thought. It might have been Lorenzo, but Dovizioso has

allowed him to have the better of it. That looks like Nicky Hayden

just getting past Valentino Rossi, and in doing so, how about that?

That was tough stuff. And of course Dani Pedrosa, up into third,

already. He got absolutely squeezed their coming up into third. Jorge

Lorenzo there, they don't know what kind of grip levels they have got.

What about this? Dovizioso on the Ducati. And Nicky Hayden, right end

there. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Maybe the bike will hang together

and stay comfortable for the entire race if it stays wet. Dani Pedrosa

up into third, and Cal Crutchlow in front of Andrea Iannone. In his

defence, he has not written in wet conditions on one of these MotoGP

bikes. Valentino Rossi has got past Nicky Hayden. Marc Marquez has got a

tip his way round. -- got to tiptoe his way round. It has been

slippery. The first of the big left-handers, very tight. Valentino

Rossi giving a big squeeze to Stefan Bridle, who is trying to respond,

but it is too late, because it is a left-hander. Unless Stefan Bradl

should position himself well on the exit. Marc Marquez is up into eighth

place, he has got it all to do. He has got it all to do. He's behind

Cal Crutchlow. Dovizioso has picked up two places. Dani Pedrosa has

picked up three, and Nicky Hayden picked up four, so that is a top

six. It is a great shuffle. The rain always provides that. Did you see

what Rossi did to Stefan Bradl? He shoved him out on the outside and

cut him up nicely, I very precise but polite mode. -- move. And with

that spray that is coming up, the vision is skewered. Dovizioso can

feel this way round and check the depth of the puddles. And he's

having to deal with the affections of bike number 26, Dani Pedrosa.

Traditionally, you would back Lorenzo in these slippery conditions

on the sweet handling Yamaha. Dani Pedrosa used to hate the rain. He

crashed out of the German Grand Prix leading by a long way, two years

ago. And he was miles ahead in that championship, as well. Pressing on

pretty hard, and these horrible conditions. Stefan Bradl, falling

away from Valentino Rossi. You can see that they are on the softest

option wet tyres. It is wet enough not to destroy the tyres, but the

edge will go off them. It just grinds the square, sharp edges off

the side of the blocks on these tyres. And the deterioration goes,

and the lap times come down. And the wider has to work out exactly how

much he has got to push. And there we go, Dani Pedrosa. Lorenzo,

already looking for a spot, but there is no room at the moment.

There is no dry line -- it is completely sodden. That is quite

encouraging for everyone. It would be great to see. He is giving him a

real hurry up. You can never write him off, especially when the

conditions are like this. I'm not sure how Jorge Lorenzo will be

thinking about that for his championship. Normally, they would

run over that white line, go right over the top of it. And where is the

advantage. Nicky Hayden, still running there. Cal Crutchlow is in

seventh position just in front of Marc Marquez. Dani Pedrosa is the

fastest, the fastest lap. There he is on the Honda, in second place.

This is a bit of a cold run followed Bradley Smith. Trying to learn his

way. Pedrosa is the man on the move. He has really got the magnets

on. He is all over the back of Andrea Dovizioso. He has had some

problems with his bike on the drive. They have not got really good for

full control, and that is what you need in these wet conditions, just

trying to tap the power on, just to get the power down. Transferring the

weight to the back of the bike. Everything has to be done sort of in

slow motion. Everything has to be done so smoothly. It is like

treading on eggshells. Valentino Rossi, still very much in touch

there, in fourth place. When did we last see a Ducati leading the race?

I am just trying to scratch my head here. And there is the pit board

out. Cal Crutchlow is up into six plays. -- sixth place. Dani Pedrosa

was having second thoughts that time. He looked like he had got the

speed. In the last lap, Cal Crutchlow is a second alarm faster

than the man -- second a lap faster than the man leading the race.

Dovizioso will have to tuck right in behind him, see if he can fight

back, yes he can. This is fantastic stuff. Ballroom dancing at 130 miles

an hour. The Honda s seem to get the grip. He was compromised on the exit

and Dani Pedrosa was able to get the power on coming out will stop

probably in second gear in these wet conditions. Through the tight

section here, which is right, left, right, right. Again, Cal Crutchlow,

very fast. He is on the back of this pack in a big way. The league has

concertina id. -- the lead has concertina'd. So, Valentino Rossi

right in the mix. You can see it for yourself will stop Cal Crutchlow

coming up on the screen right now. 45.638. Nicky Hayden also had his

fastest lap that time around. He is in the slipstream, sorry, this

spray, of Cal Crutchlow. A little bit too hot through the, and

Valentino really gave him a tickler. We spoke about this yesterday.

Whoever out of the top guys, Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa or Jorge

Lorenzo, whoever wins the race will lead the championship. Dani Pedrosa

really getting his head down. He has confidence in wet weather. He used

to crash a lot, but not any more. This is stunning stuff from Dani

Pedrosa. That explains some of the performance from Marquez. He is

finding it hard at the moment will stop he is back in eighth place.

That is his championship lead about to disappear. We saw our pit board

for Dani Pedrosa, G four, I think that is about engine management,

just to keep the engine delivering the sort of power they would expect

in these conditions. It is a very close bunch in this race, if you

have a look at it. Pedrosa, 3.5 seconds in front of Nicky Hayden.

You consume red lights, the new introduction this year. Those are

being used to a great extent today. -- you can see the red lights. Rossi

has now got to be more than careful for his team-mate. The last thing

you want to do is to wipe out your team-mate. I thought about it with

you, so many times! There is Cal Crutchlow, right and the mix. Three

Yamaha s. To the thick stuff. terrific stuff. It looks to me like

the Dovizioso is just backing them all up. Dovizioso is doing a very

good job on what has proved, the greatest of all time, Rossi, has

proved it is a very difficult bike to ride, and he got it on the front

row in the drive. There are the breakaway seven, then it drops back

some way to Marc Marquez. He went off the track. That would have cost

him 23 seconds, by the time he sorted that out. Two four three

Dovizioso. He has found his depth. That was a massive moment, he has to

try to regroup and get himself sorted out. As he goes wide

against... -- wide again. Dovizioso has seen this before and he is

getting it sorted. This is where it happened two years ago. This is

turning into a cracking race, candidates you are so hold the lead

for just a bit longer? All my goodness, how on earth did he not

get into the gravel? I think it just locked up, he locked the front going

onto the brakes, just so lucky not to be in the gravel. And relaxed...

! He will need a paper bag to breathe into. Still 20 lap left, 28

laps, the journey. I am starting to enjoy this French Grand Prix even

more, this is the type of race you want to see and it is very read that

you get a bunch of guys like this, seven of them, all going for the

lead, and it is very much about who is still a bright at the end because

every time they push harder, you saw the sort of thing that happened to

Dani Pedrosa, just trying to squeeze more lap out of this, just onto the

brakes a fraction later. Corti is out, and Staring stop act everyone

else is still circulating. --. think Jorge Lorenzo went wide, he

did not need a second invitation. He is doing it horrific job, Cal

Crutchlow trying to pull from the outside. He lost a lot of space,

Lorenzo is just about living past, Nicky Hayden busy this unfolding and

we can get this long shot. Room --. He is just trying to regroup, he

knows at the Championship is not lost, yet. Jorge Lorenzo, all the

way back into sixth position, the Chiefs looking on with a great smile

on their faces. Ducati reading, sixth place, and on-board with Jorge

Lorenzo. He just slid out wide.Marc Marquez, just in the distance back

there. The last time around he was the fastest man on the track.

going to say that Marc Marquez has just posted the fastest time so it

did not scare him too much, he is very much in touch, albeit back six

seconds on Stefan Bradl. Boy, he has got problems, Bradl slipping by.

think he has got a steamed up visor. It is a possibility. We need to get

a close-up of that to see if there is anything going on but it is

unusual for a bike to be going wrong and we know he has the same tyres

and the same suspension settings as Valentino Rossi and Cal Crutchlow

will have very similar settings. Room --. Up periscope, he cannot see

a thing! Not a thing. Having another look. So difficult to pass in the

wet because generally in these conditions, it is not raining very

much about their and the optimum line is a drier part, when they pull

onto the main part of the racetrack, you don't get as much spray so Dani

Pedrosa is on to the much wetter parts of the track. He has already

had a life, we have seen that, he was gone in the middle and somehow

he pulled things back together so he will be very grateful for that and

will be aware how tricky this can be. We now have the dry line

appearing, as you can see, but boy, Dovizioso just clawed his way out of

that corner. Brilliant driving. 44.267. If it is not raining any

more, which it is not, they will get faster and faster, until the tyres

started a grid and then it will start to slow down. Keep an eye out,

Marc Marquez again. It is getting quite light out of the commentary

booth window, you can see a tiny breeze picking up so perhaps there

is a big hole in the cloud. I can see Marc Marquez at the back of the

pack, he will be the next one, if Lorenzo keeps dropping the pace.

see, as we can see what Dani Pedrosa can see, and it is just... There is

room in there for a small one! was a small want in there! Just

centimetres away at that point because he dived up the inside and

he now has 2... We saw him pulling out with the advantage until it all

went wrong as he went over the top of the hill from Dunlop bridge down

into the Chaparral. Superb stuff from Dani Pedrosa. Last time around,

as I said, 1: 44.267 from Marc Marquez. Ten laps and we still have

the first nine runners in the top ten, it is very tight and one second

covers the top four racers. Marc Marquez, there he is. Behind Jorge

Lorenzo. Just what he needs. Oh, good! Marc Marquez, you say? Lovely!

He has some matters more -- has someone matters this weekend, a

simmering heat keeps things up right. Cal Crutchlow doing a superb

job. I'm sure he has got the pace but he is just trying to pick his

pace, when and where and if he can do it. He will be aware of the

significance of catching a name like Rossi, so he will be working very

hard. Dovizioso, he is really pressurising. Riding with Marc

Marquez, Lorenzo in front. We have seen this before, haven't we?

Crutchlow, again, looking for the inside. And of course, Dani Pedrosa

will just be again... If you talked yourself, keep calm, don't do

anything silly. Down into the essence, and this is Marc Marquez,

and Jorge Lorenzo, Charlie? O! has made my afternoon. Says,

Lorenzo. Fantastic stuff. After you! They have got to selections of

what tyres. And everybody has gone for the softer, front and rear, you

can see by that white ban around those tyres. We are now riding with

Cal Crutchlow. Spinning, coming out of there, they will have different

mapping, but also often the horsepower, different demands of

wheelspin because of the wet tyres, they will spin a lot more than dry

tyres. And you need that spin to keep the heat. It will be fantastic

to find out what has happened to Lorenzo, last year it was the same

conditions, Lorenzo was just not with us, he disappeared into the

distance. But not this year, obviously there is a problem. It is

much more than that. I hope it is not an issue with his visor. These

are issues you can get, you have a recipe, heat from the engine and

cold air outside and a lot of perspiration inside the helmet, it

is difficult to keep them nice and clear. They have a system where you

have double glazing to stop that happening but I can assure you that

Cal Crutchlow hazard that review. Yes, and he has to make his move

soon because he is coming under pressure from Nicky Hayden, now 16,

so if Crutchlow does not think about Rossi, he might soon have a Ducati

in front of him. Dani Pedrosa, chasing Dovizioso, who has regained

his lead, they have swapped so many times. Valentino Rossi will be

scratching his head, all the standard form guides RIP window, I

left Ducati because it was too slow and now the down thing is in front

of me, leading the race! Go figure! Nevertheless, and Tina Rossi is

still very much in the hunt and currently on a podium position,

great to watch. -- Valentino Rossi. Oh, boy! That is exactly where Dani

Pedrosa went. Absolutely identical. And Cal Crutchlow has just popped it

in there on the exit to the Dunlop chicane, my smooth! Smooth, down the

inside. That was a big move from Nicky Hayden as well! Catching in

time but losing time in the process. All to do again on the Honda, Ducati

in front, different line, they would normally bob -- they would normally

be on the inside of that white line. Can he get things stopped? Yes, he

does. Yes, he does. Nice work. They have swapped and swapped again.

seem to get in front, try to push to get away unscathed herself and go

back and Dovizioso is picking up the pieces of going on. I think Cal

Crutchlow can lose these guys down. Could we see the British man win a

Grand Prix, the closest we have seen, about halfway at the moment,

what a treat that would be for everyone. Yes, Cal Crutchlow very

much deserves this. I have said before, he seems to think that a

satellite bike cannot win a Grand Prix in wet conditions. But this is

a great leveller. They say it is easier in the wet, it is just that

he has a deficit from the factory bikes, and it has levelled out.

going to make things very interesting, will these tyres last

the distance? I am pretty sure they will have to, I cannot see anyone,

at this point, anybody coming in. Let's remind one, there are only

bikes and we are hearing being warmed up with slick tyres, if we

had something like intermediates, which we don't have, but at the

moment, slick tyres will not usually the same kind of grip and if that

happens, we would be too far into the race. I tell you what, Marc

Marquez and Lorenzo, this performance has really taken the

heat from Dani Pedrosa. Jorge Lorenzo has got one so the problem,

Mark Agas keeps running deep, that is his problem and Dani Pedrosa must

be grinning like a Cheshire cat. He will lead here, leaving here if it

finishes like this good points. Keeping that gap up to Dovizioso, he

will not want to be beaten by Ducati, I am quite sure. 69 versus

46. I said in her effort we had just as many people outside the garage of

Mark Arc is as Valentino Rossi, which was uprising, but it has all

Crutchlow then Dovizioso, Dani Pedrosa is one seconds down the

road, in first place. Crutchlow, two tenths faster than

Dovizioso. Lukas Pesek just getting out of the way. It is so awful, the

race evolves every lap, it gets drier in one place and you try to

find that line and you watch the boy in front, you see where he is going

and try a different line and in a car, project really, the line is the

off-line but when you try to get off the line to get bogged, you

compromise the line but sometimes there is more grip elsewhere. Jorge

Lorenzo... He had enough of seeing that. Using the pits. That is the

end of it. That is not what you want to do on your home Grand Prix. Randy

De Puniet has chucked it down the supper, fighting off the affections

of Alvaro Bautista. It is all going horribly wrong for the current world

champion. There he is, number 93. Marc Marquez is going like a yo-yo,

up the track, off the track. Valentino Rossi finding the limit of

adhesion. Running very deep and then getting it sorted out. Exciting now,

for the run up to the hilt. -- run up the hill. It is very difficult to

wipe visors, in the wet. Look at those eyes. You can see how far

ahead he is looking. They earned their money, these boys, they really

do. The gap is pretty healthy. You can sense from that shot that it is

getting wider. Stefan Bradl is down. He goes down to sixth place, that

helps Marc Marquez with the points. He is riding cowboy. He does not

know when he is beat. Valentino Rossi! Goodness sake, would you

believe it? He crashes out of the French Grand Prix. There is no

script for that. That was the Chicane again. We are up at the

Dunlop Chicane. He has got it back up and running. You wouldn't have

said that he did anything wrong, would you? It is downhill. It is off

camber. He goes down, and off the track, down at garage green.

Squeezing the front brake as he goes in there. Trying to do some

mechanicals on the move. Cal Crutchlow is pressing hard for

second place. Last time, he was two tenths quicker than Dovizioso.

front tyres are starting to go. Even though the track is drying out.

Because of the tyre degradation. The person that is going to find this

out first is Dani Pedrosa, who is leading. Still doing running

repairs. If you are Valentino Rossi, you might be thinking, let me see

where I am up to, but it is such a long time. I would not want to go

out there with a dry tyre on. I don't think he would. He is sticking

with it. He hasn't come in. He is still in the points. That is

important. Dani Pedrosa with ten laps to go. He is thinking, would

they please hurry up and get this race done with. It is their choice

to come in and change the bike, and I would not advise that at the

moment. If you went in to change, you would drop all the way back.

Look at Nicky Hayden trying to get his weight up to the front of the

bike. That is the same place. That is where Valentino Rossi went down.

How much do you back the pace down first remark and who has the hardest

job? Dani Pedrosa. It is not just running deep. It is a crash. Steve,

did you see the front of that bike from Dovizioso? Absolutely on the

ragged edge. Bearing in mind that Nicky Hayden is fourth, so these

asked now getting into some serious points on the table -- -- these are

now. There we have Cal Crutchlow. He's having the ride of his life so

far. Still my laps to go. You still so close. But he has lost that

place. He is just trying to find a place to pass him. They used to be

team-mates. Cal Crutchlow has always said that Dovizioso was unbelievably

good on the brakes. His best victory was at Donington Park in torrential

rain. It is unusual, for it to be raining at Donington Park! You

suspect that Marc Marquez is going to have a good stab at passing Nicky

Hayden to get himself up into fourth days. Cal Crutchlow has got to be

patient, he has got to probe, to see what he can do. He has got to be so

careful every time, squeezing those brakes on. Those front tyres looked

to have had their best, but just eight laps remaining. Let's have a

look at this. We didn't get much of that. Predictions at the start of

the race, he said, I think Lorenzo, and Rossi will fall of. You would

have been laughed off the grid. What an extraordinary set of events. And

you have still got this guy, on the leading CRT machine, right behind

Valentino Rossi, Alex Aspargaro, in 13th place. -- Aleix. The gap is

sensational. The team can start to say to him, just back it down a tiny

little bit. Just make sure that you are keeping a margin. Having a close

look, there, and the rear tyre does not look so bad. I think it is a

front tyre that are starting to go away. There was a real dry line now,

absolutely. That is probably going to make things even worse. The

fastest lap time was 44.2. We are sitting around there. The track is

getting better all the time. If they are not defending a line they are

going to have to find some water on the track to keep those tires cool.

There was Michael Laverty. No, it is Yonny Hernandez. He has had enough

will stop he has had a very difficult weekend. Michael Laverty

is in 17th place just behind Colin Evans. Cal Crutchlow, probing again.

It looks like he can run through the corner fastest. What a result this

would be for Dovizioso. Seven laps remaining for Dani Pedrosa. I would

like to get that slow motion shot of the front tyre, to see the bike

snaking and weaving around. The beauty of this slick tyre is that it

has got grip, no matter how hot it gets. It keeps the bike very much in

line, but these block trades are moving the whole time, under

acceleration, so he has to transfer the weight to the front tyre. The

block of those trades starts moving around. It is difficult to see from

that shot, but, those front tyres, particularly in the braking area,

and of course, the wet tyres have a harder section in the middle than at

the edges, particularly on the rear tyre, when the bike is stood

upright, it is spinning a lot more. Can Cal Crutchlow squeeze by? Seven

Hayden -- has he done it? That is not the brake light, that is just

like so that in these dodgy conditions, you can see the rider in

front. Maybe his thinking to himself, let me see what happens.

Dovizioso is the hardest bloke on the planet to pass. When they were

team-mates, they would ride like this nose to tail all the way

through. Cal Crutchlow looking every which way to try and get past him,

but he knows. The pit board will have told him that he has got nobody

behind him. He has a five second gap back to Marc Marquez, whose lapping

to do it on the straight. He is too far back at this point. You can see

them using the wet part of the track. Look at that dry line -- that

is going to be shredding the tyres. Quite honestly, you know coming to

the time -- -- you are now coming to the time when you could think about

changing the bike, but it is just pointless with six laps remaining.

If the conditions were like this with 26 laps to go, then you would

have a look at it. It Cal Crutchlow can get the power down early enough,

that would give him a chance. He has not been this close, coming up over

the start-finish line, and again, the Ducati looks right on the limit

of those tires. We are riding with Marc Marquez. Those tires will be

like chewing gum by now. That was a big moment, but was Cal Crutchlow

close enough to capitalise? He is tiptoeing into the right-hander. And

that -- Dovizioso trying to get back. And Cal Crutchlow mugged him,

nice one. Nice clear track for him. I was thinking that he could lap

faster but he could not get past the Ducati. Just on the power coming out

of there, there was a greasy, semidry part of the track, it just

spun out. Cal Crutchlow was almost caught on the outside and forced out

onto the rumble strip. Just enough room to cut out onto the inside.

Now, Dovizioso will probably see him clear off the middle distance.

has now got to judge grip levels and what is where. He just spins out,

just there. Cal Crutchlow, it took a little while for Dovizioso to

regroup and sort things out. The elegant white would have confused

themselves and shut the throttle down. 6.4 seconds out for Dani

Pedrosa. I'm sure that his pit board will tell him that he can back by a

second a lap. For laps remaining and he is winning comfortably. -- four

laps remaining. Let's face it, all of these tyres are one the ragged

edge. That Honda did not look happy on that sweeping right-hander.

gummy tyre, that does not bear thinking about. Wriggling around,

you can see him shifting his body weight. The leg comes out. It is

Pedrosa, crutch low, the fastest lap. -- Crutchlow. And Bradley Smith

into ninth place, in front of Stefan Bradl. Valentino Rossi has picked it

want to be one or off that. This it is stunning performance from Dani

Pedrosa but I cannot say enough about these Ducati bikes, Dovizioso

hanging on to third place and Nicky Hayden in fifth place, that is

really something for a team that has worked so hard to get out of bit

technological hold. Cal Crutchlow has had podium places, third place.

That would be something. Just what we would want for that would wish

that, getting onto the podium but second place, are less Dani Pedrosa

makes a silly mistake, he will not get any further up. I am sure his

pet borders telling him to be nice and smooth and the man is going to

have some issues with Dovizioso because Marc Marquez, 44.7, 1.5

seconds per lap faster, and he is the third of those three.

biggest pressure is that Ducati podium. Marc Marquez has been up and

down, like a UU. He has ridden further than anybody. Most

definitely. P2, Dovizioso. Trying to keep to a -- trying to keep up to

speed with what is going on. He can focus and not be too nervous. You

can see those lap times on the screen. The fastest man on the track

last time was Marc Marquez, there he is. No point in chasing down

Pedrosa. Cal Crutchlow just wants to keep that comfortable gap between

the boys behind and keep it on the black stuff. If Marc Marquez trips

over Dovizioso and they hold each other up... With three laps to go,

you would have to say that Dovizioso is about to be mugged by Marc

Marquez. Right on the back wheel, if he gets the run out of here, Mark or

KERS will be riding with him coming out of here. Has he got the grip? He

will have to ride the back brake. Will he be brave? It is going to be

tight. He was riding the traditional line with Dovizioso, leaving the

door open. Was he deep enough? And he is through, the big question

was, has Marc Marquez got enough time to close down Cal Crutchlow?

That is what his father will be trying to work out, my boy only has

to hang on for 1.75 laps. That was a solid move from Marc Marquez, as you

have seen. Michael Laverty, there, getting lapped, getting out of the

way. The only thing I would say is they did hold themselves up a little

bit, not enough because it were trying to get through that chicane.

He has 1.5 laps remaining and the bike will feel awful underneath.

Here we go, Dovizioso trying to hold him out but unfortunately he has

compromised that right-hander. Marc Marquez has got that more open line

to turn things in, that little blip of the throttle and lazy died in

from the Dovizioso. The gap, one and a quarter laps remaining. You would

be unlucky for if you were Cal Crutchlow to have any issue with

Marc Marquez and his speed. They both had 46.2. Marc Marquez did

45.1, that is the trouble. And this next, last lap, Marc Marquez tried

to get past Dovizioso last time. I truthfully think on the last lap,

Cal Crutchlow just has to keep things nicely together and he will

be talking to himself, be smooth, don't do anything silly, do

everything, shift your weight around and pray. Surely he has got second

place? There is the gap.He cannot surely make that up? It is enormous.

It would need a mistake. He never gives up, Mark Arcos quiz Mac this

will put Dani Pedrosa in front in the Championship. Yes, for sure, as

it stands, Dani Pedrosa believe the French Grand Prix -- lead the French

that is my tyranny. Down the back straight. Down the back straight it

is and then it is one two, three, four, five, six corners remaining.

Job done, then. Great ride by all these guys, Dani Pedrosa was pretty

faultless. He had a couple of scary moments, but then back in front.

seconds adrift Michele Pirro. You cannot say too much, he has won in

France in the wet, Dani Pedrosa does it. Cal Crutchlow across the line

for second place, what about that? Mark Arcade makes the podium in

third place. BBC high happy Cal Crutchlow is? His old dad will be

there, smiling. But that was a fantastic ride by him, his best ever

result in MotoGP. Alvaro Bautista in sixth place, they cannot wait to

find out what is going on here. Lorenzo in seventh place. Brilliant

stuff from Cal Crutchlow, he congratulates Dani Pedrosa.

Excellent stuff. Michele Pirro in eighth place followed by Smith in

ninth place and then Stefan Bradl. Everybody jump up and down. He made

it as hard as he possibly could before qualifying but he gets the

job done. 10th place, Stefan Bradl. At least he has finished because he

has crashed into a wide of the last three races. Excellent stuff and

Valentino Rossi comes around, having passed that Yamaha down the road,

not really bothered. 12 position. Not good for him. He puts his

legate. Just in front of the leading CRT bike. Espargaro in 13th place,

in front of the treaty. -- in front of Danilo Petrucci. He timed

everything perfectly. The crowd is very appreciative. They got wet but

they saw some terrific racing and that was a cracking race. The last

points would have been Karel Abraham. Bradley Smith in ninth

place. So, Dani Pedrosa leads the Championship right night at the end

of round four. There is a lot of people who crashed, Hernandez went

out, Rossi, Stefan Bradl. Those two were lucky to get going again. Randy

De Puniet, that was very disappointing on his home Grand

Prix. Pedrosa leading by a handsome margin, 83 in Marc Marquez at 77.

Lorenzo has some work to do on 66. How about that? That is the race

winning over a cheque and that really stuck. -- overtake. It had

to. The boys back. Cal Crutchlow, great stuff. All the boys looking at

the rear tyres, just to see what is left of them, I would like to get a

shot of that. Just to see what sort of state they are in. Dani Pedrosa

is starting to look really complete, last week was a completely different

set of circumstances compared to this one. Who was tipped to win the

Championship? Somebody had a good guess but he was looking really

strong. Those races, you would never thought it was possible but all of a

sudden, plenty of races to go, of course, but it has gone back his way

and that is wonderful to see. Hopefully we can find out what went

wrong with Jorge Lorenzo. That is the question of the day. He seemed

to be spinning the whole time. Dani Pedrosa, he did not have a good

start in what are, he did not like those dark, sandy conditions. But as

soon as that was over, he got together with his second in Texas

and winning in Spain and also here. I feel sorry for Dovizioso, he

looked so good for so long, he did his best. Very encouraging for

Ducati, all round, though? This is the move, Marc Marquez, Dovizioso

says, no, Sunshine! But this works, he did not have the faster line over

the top of the hill, he did his best to squeeze them out but it did not

work. This is his brother. Valentino Rossi, very unusual mistake.

what about Cal Crutchlow? Second place, superb. Fourth in the World

Championship with 55 points. There is Nicky Hayden and Valentino, and

just... Just the front brake, as he goes into that and you have to trail

this in and keep some weight on the front and that was before he even

let it off, sometimes you let the front of and it downloads but it was

trailing and maybe one metre or six inches off the line. Let us confirm

results. But also from Crutchlow and Marc Marquez, Dovizioso and Nicky

Hayden and then Alvaro Bautista and then Jorge Lorenzo with Michele

Pirro and back then, 41 seconds adrift but on the leaderboard,

Bradley Smith. Stefan Bradl rounding up the top ten. Iannone, walking

wounded. That is the best result for Bradley Smith in ninth place, so

that is a good day for the British riders. Quite if you non-finishers.

Staring, Randy De Puniet, Hernandez. The Championship is very tasty

indeed for Dani Pedrosa. There is no doubt. That is a real breathing

space for him but with so many races to go, he will just have to keep

playing it on. This is where Valentino Rossi went down. You will

be pleased to hear it is brightening up so it will be a nice flight home.

My eyes are always shot anyway! The campsite and the points. Dani

Pedrosa leaping up to the lead of the Championship, in front of his

team-mate so that is pretty cool. Honda, one and two. Lorenzo back in

third place. Bradley Smith in 12 position in the Championship.

Crutchlow up in fourth place, in front of Valentino Rossi and that is

very useful indeed. Superb stuff and I think everybody might have got a

little bit wet at their but they have enjoyed their racing and we had

28 laps are very exciting racing. Marc Marquez, useful points?

Congratulations on the podium after that bad start, that moment earlier

on, did you think you would finish on the rostrum? Now, especially in

the beginning, there was not as much water in the end but from the

beginning, the feeling was not so good and I was struggling a lot to

get grip and I nearly crashed many times. So I did not expect the

podium but then I was focused on my race, I like to do my best and

step-by-step, going in front and you know, I am very happy. In the wet

for us, so thanks to the team and my team-mate and everything is going

well. Congratulations. Happy as a sand boy. He's just absorbing all of

this information. He has now got the wet race under his belt. And he will

just get faster in these conditions now. That is a nice shot, the

factory Hondas sandwiching the Yamaha of Cal Crutchlow. The first

of the Yamaha for Mac. They cannot get rid of him. -- the Yamahas. Now,

just the traffic jams to think about. What Dave Cal Crutchlow. --

what a day for Cal Crutchlow. could not have answered that any

better. What a stunning podium. Jorge Lorenzo had his chance to sign

the other week, but now it is too late. The team did a fantastic job.

I think we deserve this. We showed pace in the trial, we showed pace in

the dry, we showed pace in the wet, and I think we deserve it. I am

pleased for everybody. We really deserved it, and I am pleased. We

got some great support from the guys at home. The British fans have been

fantastic. It is nice to finally get that podium. Hopefully, from now on,

we can be injury free. I have got to recover from this weekend and

hopefully come back. Talk me through that race. You know what it is like

to be behind. You look like you were just waiting for the moment. I knew

that he would crack in the end with some pressure, Dovizioso. He were

slowing up quite a lot and he let Dani Pedrosa get away with it, which

was disappointing. But the front tyre was really bad. But I made sure

that I got on the podium. And we can go away from here, which is a

difficult race, you could not see anything, which is a problem. When

you are behind the rider, things stick to the visor. I did not

receive very much. -- I could not really see very much.

Congratulations. Are we going to get to talk to Dani Pedrosa? Yes, we

are. You mastered the art of the wet race. You had it hardest out in

front with the drying line. What was that like? It was a great race for

me. I did not expect. Always, we have problems with the tyres being

called for me, and we did not get a good grip. But, today, I got some

good grip on the tyres, particularly on the front, and my braking was

good. But I made a couple of mistakes. I almost run out, twice.

But I did stay on the bike. I brought it in. And get working well

to the end. I am so happy that the bike was working well. And thanks to

my team and to all of my fans. looking like the complete rider.

reason he struggles to get the temperature is that he is so light.

With the drying track, that played into his hands. He probably wore out

his tyres a bit less. It looked like the front tyres had just about had

enough, but it did the job. Some stunning stuff here. The

championship looking much stronger doubters, that has silenced some of

them. What a way to answer the critics with victory in the dry at

Jerez couple of weeks ago, and then in the wet here today. That was a

great ride, wasn't it, from Dani Pedrosa, particularly? Yes, it was a

great race. Just being here, the adrenaline that I get, hearing the

bikes go by, seeing them on the grid, I just get so much adrenaline,

I get so pumped up. It was a great ride. He kept it smooth. He had a

little bit of an injury. Sometimes when that happens you do not have

that confidence. You just want to stay in the clear, you just want to

get through the first laps and find your rhythm, and that is exactly

what he did, he found his rhythm, and he started picking dies off, so

hats off to him. -- picking guys off. It was perfect for him to get

his best ever result. You spoke about being patient, and we saw that

from Marc Marquez. What a performance from him to come back

after some early mistakes. He rode pretty quick in the wet today.

was a great ride by Marc Marquez. He just started picking people off. I

would not have given him, I would not have doubted him to catch all of

the way up to Cal Crutchlow. He kept getting faster and faster as the

track started to dry out. It was an amazing ride to finish on the

podium, considering. He looked out, mid-race. If there had been a couple

more laps, he might have done something similar to in Jerez. What

a fantastic day for Cal Crutchlow. A real statement. A non-factory rider

up there with two factory Hondas, and not a factory Yamaha insight.

Yes, the bike there, between the two Hondas. There he is, in the hunt,

all race long. His last lap was faster than the last lap of Marc

Marquez, so he responded very well. He has been running Dani Pedrosa's

side of the garage for so long. He is just a quiet guy, who gets on

with his work. Lewis Hamilton handing the trophy for third place

to Marc Marquez. They are riding and driving styles are quite parallel,

so that this quite appropriate. Cal Crutchlow, that is a red letter day

for him. And for Dani Pedrosa, he has got to be utterly relieved and

delighted that he can do it in these sort of conditions. The man giving

out the trophy, I used to race he is now the complete package. Wet

races and drive races. He has put it all together this year. -- dry

UKIP him to win the championship this year. -- well done to Dani

Pedrosa. You tipped him to win the championship. So, there you go. A

great day for Dani Pedrosa. A sensational day for Cal Crutchlow.

And an encouraging day for Ducati. It could have been so much more for

Ducati, but thankfully for us it wasn't. And there is Cal Crutchlow

on the podium. You have been up there? Times during your career, but

what about Dani Pedrosa? Let's talk about him. This is a big statement

for him, winning in the dry, in Jerez, and then winning in the wet

here. That is huge for the championship, for Dani Pedrosa. Not

only just about points, but on a confidence level. He knows that he

can do it in any conditions. he's a confidence rider will stop

you have written against him many times. Just looking at some of his

passing on Dovizioso. There are times when you need confidence to

make passes like that. Definitely. The mistake in the beginning of the

race almost put him off the track, he had a major job to keep it on the

track. Andrea Dovizioso did very well as well. He made use of the

excellent Ducati Alec Onyx. But at the end of the day -- -- LH Onyx.

Electronics. You had been saying how difficult it is to riding injured,

and that is the lasting you want to see in front of you. Once the race

gets going, the injury is right out of your mind. You just want to stay

clear of all the chaos and confusion and find your bearings. He did

exactly that. It was just tunnel vision at that point. He just kept

it smooth and consistent and was just faster than Marc Marquez.
