You join us here on BBC One with live pictures from Diadoro as the

:00:09.:00:15.

great British hockey team receive their gold medals. If you're

:00:16.:00:21.

watching on BBC Two, switch over for the amp and the final reflections of

:00:22.:00:26.

a truly extraordinary day for hockey, women's sport and women's

:00:27.:00:38.

team sports. All -- we will rejoin our commentators for more details on

:00:39.:00:41.

the players who made this happen and a reminder to people of how it

:00:42.:00:46.

happened as well. The players have received their gold medals now.

:00:47.:00:55.

Lobbyist medal ceremony at the games, the hockey ceremony, all 16

:00:56.:01:02.

players getting a memento, beginning with Maddie Hinch, the goalkeeper,

:01:03.:01:08.

who capped the medal hopes alive for Great Britain throughout the

:01:09.:01:10.

tournament, stretching all the way along the line to Nicola White who

:01:11.:01:16.

scored their third goal tonight to bring it Great Britain level, the

:01:17.:01:21.

first goal from Lily Owsley got things going and then it was nip and

:01:22.:01:30.

tuck all the way, two goals from Kitty Van Male put the Netherlands

:01:31.:01:33.

in front and then the third goal from Nicola White took us to the end

:01:34.:01:40.

of normal time and the drama of a penalty shoot out, 70s -- Nicola

:01:41.:01:46.

White receives her memento. 48 medals distributed, 16 goals to

:01:47.:01:54.

Great Britain, the Olympic hockey champions, the history makers, Great

:01:55.:01:59.

Britain's 24th gold medal of these Rio Olympic Games. Ladies and

:02:00.:02:10.

gentlemen, the anthem of Great Britain!

:02:11.:02:24.

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Hockey history made by the Great Britain

:02:25.:03:06.

team, they are the Olympic champions for 2016. CLARE BALDING: Wonderful

:03:07.:03:16.

scenes, Great Britain win the gold medal following a penalty shoot out

:03:17.:03:20.

against the Netherlands, the Netherlands take silver and Germany

:03:21.:03:23.

take the bronze medal and we will get further reaction from the team

:03:24.:03:29.

members of that squad including the captain, Helen Richardson-Walsh. It

:03:30.:03:37.

was her final match in charge. She retires from international hockey

:03:38.:03:40.

after this and there is no better way to do that than as an Olympic

:03:41.:03:45.

champion. More to come from the hockey, but then we will be rounded

:03:46.:03:49.

up the best of the action today because it has been a memorable in

:03:50.:03:53.

Rio and although it is my time and I know it is at home as well, it is

:03:54.:03:58.

the story you will want to see again. It was the last day of

:03:59.:04:04.

equestrian action. A gold medal from Charlotte Dujardin and a gold medal

:04:05.:04:08.

for the team into such, no team medal at all for the show jumpers,

:04:09.:04:11.

they did not make it to the final but they had in the final round of

:04:12.:04:22.

show-jumping and Lee McCann study can tell us what happened. Nick

:04:23.:04:26.

Skelton has been to seven Olympic Games, his dream was to win an

:04:27.:04:29.

individual goal but sometimes it seems like the odds were stacked

:04:30.:04:34.

against him. A neck injury forced him to retire, he came back and came

:04:35.:04:41.

so close, but still gold evaded him. In 2012 he and Tim to part of the

:04:42.:04:50.

team but then his horse was injured. He worked hard to get Big Star back

:04:51.:05:00.

for Rio -- Big Star. Although it did not quite happen for Ben Maher, Nick

:05:01.:05:04.

Skelton was the first rider to record a clear round but he was not

:05:05.:05:09.

the only one. 13 riders in total went around this tricky course and

:05:10.:05:13.

going into the second round this afternoon, Nick Skelton needed to

:05:14.:05:19.

deliver a game to have any chance of a medal. The tension is really

:05:20.:05:28.

building. Now, can Nick Skelton and do what he has always felt this

:05:29.:05:32.

horse is capable of, when an individual medal at the Olympic

:05:33.:05:38.

Games? Just a little rattle their four Nick Skelton, go on, motor on.

:05:39.:05:46.

He has done it! The first of 13 clears and makes it a double. Do not

:05:47.:05:55.

get overexcited. I am overexcited. Got this one slightly wrong. Have to

:05:56.:06:01.

keep moving. One by one, they bite the dust. The Olympic gold medal is

:06:02.:06:15.

going to be a time to jump on. He is the time jump off for the medals.

:06:16.:06:21.

Another one bites the darkest. I'm getting even more excited. Ken

:06:22.:06:26.

Farrington does touch it but it is clear comfortably inside the time.

:06:27.:06:38.

Sweden is in the party. It is sex. You will have no fingernails left at

:06:39.:06:47.

home. -- six. He will have to put his neck on the line. Still six

:06:48.:06:52.

riders in a tense jump off, everyone was against the clock as well as the

:06:53.:06:56.

fences to determine medal positions and once again Nick Skelton was

:06:57.:07:02.

first to go. What drama have we ahead, it is a difficult task, do

:07:03.:07:08.

not take it for granted, there are some good horses and riders and

:07:09.:07:13.

three will be unlucky. The fact that he is first to go might be an

:07:14.:07:19.

advantage, he has never been one to take it slowly. He has got to,

:07:20.:07:24.

surely, to make a target for the rest which makes them under

:07:25.:07:30.

pressure. It has always suited him to go first. He likes to get out

:07:31.:07:35.

there, do his round and he will try and put the pressure on. He has to

:07:36.:07:40.

go for it. That is the team manager there. Here we go for the gold

:07:41.:07:44.

medal, Nick Skelton in the job of against the clock. -- jump off. From

:07:45.:07:58.

the second fence, back to the vertical, inside turn and now the

:07:59.:08:06.

double, triple Bart going in. Brilliantly over that, we will take

:08:07.:08:17.

a time check. Over in 28.8. He has to turn back to this vertical. One

:08:18.:08:25.

left to go. Coming up to the last. Is it enough? 42.82. That is a great

:08:26.:08:38.

start. 42.82, the rest will have to go for it. Absolutely the perfect

:08:39.:08:45.

tactical round, now the pressure is on the other riders. Next Ed was

:08:46.:08:55.

Steve Gird out. Nick Skelton still have the advantage. It was a similar

:08:56.:09:00.

story for the next contender and Ken Farrington. Two to go. As it stands

:09:01.:09:09.

at the moment, we have definitely got a medal to take home from showed

:09:10.:09:14.

jumping. Get the champagne on ice. Peder Fredricson for Sweden, he has

:09:15.:09:27.

been as consistent as anyone. Eric Lamaze is the last ago. They are

:09:28.:09:31.

there because they have won the right to be the last in the time

:09:32.:09:38.

jump off. He said off very quickly indeed. Nick Skelton was first to

:09:39.:09:47.

go, clear in 42.82. He is a quick rider, Peder Fredricson, he takes

:09:48.:09:51.

the forward rhythm everywhere, he is motoring, he is still clear. We will

:09:52.:09:57.

take a time check, 28.8, a little bit quicker perhaps, it is close,

:09:58.:10:04.

very close. This turn is absolutely crucial. Just the last, time to

:10:05.:10:11.

beat, 42.82, but he is not going to do it, just a little bit slower,

:10:12.:10:18.

Nick Skelton is still in gold medal position. 43.35. How much more of

:10:19.:10:25.

this can we take? Nick Skelton was first to go, he set the standard, he

:10:26.:10:29.

is definitely going to get the silver medal but the last man to go

:10:30.:10:33.

is one of the fastest riders in the world and he has done it all before.

:10:34.:10:39.

This horse sees him in with a real possibility but Nick Skelton has

:10:40.:10:44.

said such a good target, repeat again, that time, 42.82. Eric

:10:45.:10:54.

Lamaze, Canada, going for gold. Just went a bit wider into the second

:10:55.:11:02.

fence, very tight here. And again, a little bit wider, he is taking a bit

:11:03.:11:07.

of a pool into the double. Still clear, we will look at the time

:11:08.:11:13.

check now. I think this is a bit quicker. Yes, he is really covering

:11:14.:11:21.

the ground, galloping around this corner, flat out now. What a

:11:22.:11:34.

competition! Four it is, for the record, 42.09. It means that Nick

:11:35.:11:42.

Skelton and Big Star take the gold medal, the silver medal for Peder

:11:43.:11:47.

Fredricson and the bronze medal for a tampon. We all hoped and trained

:11:48.:11:55.

that Big Star and pigs -- and Nick Skelton could do it -- Eric Lamaze.

:11:56.:12:06.

What an extraordinary performance. So to the man, Olympic champion,

:12:07.:12:18.

58-year-old Nick Skelton. He won the gold with Big Star. If ever a horse

:12:19.:12:25.

have the right name, it is Big Star. He is the most amazing horse to

:12:26.:12:27.

watch. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. And who can

:12:28.:13:13.

blame him for a tear in the eye? Such a moving moment. He was amazing

:13:14.:13:20.

today, he has been incredible. It has been a hard road, because he has

:13:21.:13:27.

not been sound, since the last competition he won was in 2013,

:13:28.:13:32.

today was a good day to win, he is an incredible horse, he knows what

:13:33.:13:37.

is going on, he knows when it is really important and you can write

:13:38.:13:39.

him and put pressure on him and he takes it. We know that you have been

:13:40.:13:45.

27 Olympic Games, please tell us there will be an eighth one. I do

:13:46.:13:54.

think so. When he retires, I think I will stop as well. I do not think he

:13:55.:13:58.

will make another one, he will be 17 men and I will be too old as well.

:13:59.:14:16.

He is Britain's first ever individual show champion and he is

:14:17.:14:22.

with me now. It is very emotional watching all of that back. It is a

:14:23.:14:30.

lot better now. Amazing. Although this is your seventh official

:14:31.:14:34.

Olympic Games. He went to the one in 1980. We were going to go to Moscow

:14:35.:14:39.

and then we had an alternative games in Rotterdam and we had a team

:14:40.:14:43.

silver there, we have been going for a few years. There are so many times

:14:44.:14:47.

when you have gone into that arena when you have been jumping for big

:14:48.:14:55.

money, what is different going in there for a gold medal?

:14:56.:15:01.

This is the biggest gold you can begin your sport, it doesn't get any

:15:02.:15:08.

better than that, to win that is amazing. I've been going a long,

:15:09.:15:14.

long time, so many years, a few close calls, then finally, to do it

:15:15.:15:18.

now, with him, he's been off for a couple of years as well. He hasn't

:15:19.:15:23.

won a class, the last classy won was 2013 in the Grand Prix in Aachen.

:15:24.:15:28.

It's been three years. You went first in the jump off, when you rode

:15:29.:15:32.

into the arena, where you nervous? Not really, I actually preferred to

:15:33.:15:37.

go first because I know my horse well, I know what he can do. You

:15:38.:15:44.

know, he's a fast horse, he's quick, a quick jumper, quick away from his

:15:45.:15:49.

jumps. I thought if I just went sensible, not stupid fast, to make

:15:50.:15:52.

sure I was clear, it would put the pressure on the other ones, which,

:15:53.:15:59.

thankfully, it did. He jumped this great. The only one little moment I

:16:00.:16:05.

had was after this fence, turning back, he locked up on me and ran

:16:06.:16:09.

around the corner. I went to go quick and he thought, I'm away, let

:16:10.:16:14.

me go. He's really hanging on. He came back pretty good. He's careful

:16:15.:16:20.

so really not a risk. He's amazing, the horse deserves everything.

:16:21.:16:23.

The honestly jumps like he has this brings, is extraordinary, the power

:16:24.:16:30.

he's got. It seems to love jumping. When he comes into the arena he has

:16:31.:16:36.

a Winnie. He's so placid and lazy at home, you have to drag him down to

:16:37.:16:40.

the ring. He always calls when he goes in the ring, always. I think

:16:41.:16:44.

it's to say, watch out, I'm coming. He loves to jump. Also with him, his

:16:45.:16:50.

energy, he has such high energy level, he's still going now, you can

:16:51.:16:55.

see him, still kicking and barking. He's a 13-year-old stallion,

:16:56.:16:58.

generally speaking stallions can be a handful, is he a nice temperament?

:16:59.:17:03.

Really good temperament, really placid, anybody can lead him about,

:17:04.:17:07.

really quiet. How much time have you had to talk to anybody back home,

:17:08.:17:12.

have you talked to the boys, Dan and Harry? I tried to talk to Harry but

:17:13.:17:15.

he was crying for half an hour, then I spoke to Dan and my sister. They

:17:16.:17:22.

are really chuffed. He would know, we have a big operation at home with

:17:23.:17:25.

the race and everything, the boys, they are really behind us. It's been

:17:26.:17:30.

great. I'm not surprised they were crying. To see you step on that

:17:31.:17:34.

podium, your bottom lip was wobbling a little bit. A little bit! A lot.

:17:35.:17:41.

I'm glad it's over now. It is. You know, when you are as old as I am,

:17:42.:17:46.

in that sport, you go all your life to try and do that, when it happens,

:17:47.:17:50.

it's something else. You see that Flacco are coming here the national

:17:51.:17:53.

anthem, who are the people in your head, what are the thoughts, the

:17:54.:17:58.

things you are thinking of? You just think of everything, you flashback

:17:59.:18:02.

from your childhood, your life, whatever, your mother, your father,

:18:03.:18:08.

brothers, sisters, your children. Your girlfriend, your wife,

:18:09.:18:13.

whatever, all goes back, you think, this has all been great. For a man

:18:14.:18:18.

who has come back from a broken neck, retired and was told not to

:18:19.:18:22.

ride again, who has had hip replacement, who has had dodgy

:18:23.:18:26.

knees, it's not bad going. It's not bad really, I'm very lucky. A lot of

:18:27.:18:31.

people have helped me big style on the way. Everybody knows who they

:18:32.:18:38.

are. I really thank them, especially my groom, Mark he's been with me 31

:18:39.:18:44.

years, before Dan was born. He spent so much time with that horse you

:18:45.:18:47.

wouldn't believe, eight hours a day, he only looks after the horse.

:18:48.:18:52.

Massage is him, grooms him, put him in the spa, he's amazing. He said to

:18:53.:18:57.

me Tokyo was out of the question, but you realise there are targets

:18:58.:19:01.

you haven't yet reached, you are not the oldest Olympic champion by a

:19:02.:19:05.

long way. There was a Japanese 70 years old. In the games. To be

:19:06.:19:15.

really honest, and look at it, he'll be 70 in Tokyo, that's too much. It

:19:16.:19:19.

might be the horse that stops you. -- he'll be 17, the horse. A suite

:19:20.:19:26.

in the double shot running deer shooting was 72. At 6040 won gold.

:19:27.:19:36.

Same guy. Joshua Milner was the last British gold medallist. At 61 years

:19:37.:19:44.

and four days in 1908. I think you are pretty young actually. I'm glad

:19:45.:19:49.

you think that. I'll be 63. You never know. He might have a new

:19:50.:19:54.

lease of life or something. He deserves... He won't retire now,

:19:55.:20:01.

he'll keep going, but when he does, I think I will. You'll pack it in.

:20:02.:20:05.

You've done your bit. We talk on this programme about getting

:20:06.:20:09.

inspired. We're communicating to youngsters generally, but I think

:20:10.:20:12.

you might be doing your bit for those, don't give up when you are

:20:13.:20:17.

past 50, there is still so much to come. When you win you think you are

:20:18.:20:21.

invincible, you think you can go on another ten years no problem. As a

:20:22.:20:24.

gold medallist you have every right to feel invincible. A fabulous

:20:25.:20:28.

achievement, I'm so chuffed for you, well done.

:20:29.:20:31.

Let's hand you over for more on such a good day.

:20:32.:20:38.

Because of the exciting end to the hockey we haven't got much time to

:20:39.:20:43.

show you the highlights. Quite frankly, who cares? We're going to

:20:44.:20:49.

start and bring the action from England's women later. We'll start

:20:50.:20:51.

with a diving and show you what happened to Tom Daley. Who qualified

:20:52.:20:58.

for Saturday's ten metre platform semifinal in some style. The bronze

:20:59.:21:02.

medallist from London 2012 scored a personal best 571.8 five. The best

:21:03.:21:10.

score of the day. He goes in the semifinal at 3pm on Saturday. If it

:21:11.:21:16.

all goes well, he'll be in the final at 8:30pm. That was his best dive of

:21:17.:21:19.

the day. Let's take you on to tae kwon do

:21:20.:21:28.

coming yesterday was a great day for Britain with Jade Jones winning

:21:29.:21:34.

gold. Today Lutalo Muhammad was hoping to deliver something similar.

:21:35.:21:38.

He was going in the 80 kilograms category.

:21:39.:21:46.

This is his first fight despite being hampered by injuries this

:21:47.:21:55.

year. He swept aside the Australian 14-0. The solicitor had no answers

:21:56.:22:02.

whatsoever as Mohammed eased into the quarterfinals. A perfect about

:22:03.:22:05.

to start with. It's fair to say afterwards he was pretty pleased.

:22:06.:22:11.

I'm loving it, the crowd is great, the energy is magnificent, let's

:22:12.:22:18.

keep this going. LAUGHTER Not such good news for the world

:22:19.:22:22.

number one, Aaron Crook. The Dorchester born fighter,

:22:23.:22:25.

controversially overlooked the 2012, switched his allegiance to Moldova.

:22:26.:22:32.

He lost to his opponent from Taipei, so he was out. Lutalo Muhammad's

:22:33.:22:39.

campaign continued with a tough contest against the 37-year-old two

:22:40.:22:44.

time Olympic champion Steven Lopez of the USA. Despite a couple of

:22:45.:22:49.

scares he won 9-2. Two out of two. And the next up is the semifinals.

:22:50.:22:54.

Before we see that fight, here is a guide to how tae kwon do works with

:22:55.:22:57.

Lee McKenzie. Tae kwon do originates in a career.

:22:58.:23:09.

Combines combat and self defence techniques. It became a fully

:23:10.:23:13.

fledged Olympic sport in Sydney in 2000. Each contest has three rounds

:23:14.:23:18.

of two minutes and a competitor can win on points or if their opponent

:23:19.:23:23.

is unable to continue. Points are awarded for permitted, accurate and

:23:24.:23:25.

powerful blows to the opponent's head or body. Attacks to the body

:23:26.:23:30.

can be made using fist or foot. But an athlete can only use feet to

:23:31.:23:34.

strike the area above the collar bone. Punches to the head and

:23:35.:23:37.

attacks to the spine are not allowed. The only techniques

:23:38.:23:41.

permitted our kicks where the athlete uses the area of the foot

:23:42.:23:45.

below the ankle and punches where the athlete uses the knuckle part of

:23:46.:23:49.

a tightly clenched fist. Scoring differs depending on where or how an

:23:50.:23:54.

athlete has attacked. One point awarded for a valid attack to the

:23:55.:23:58.

body protector but if the attack is a turning or reverse skip to the

:23:59.:24:02.

body, it's worth three. An athlete receives three points for a legal

:24:03.:24:07.

kick to the head. If it's a turning kick, it achieves the maximum four

:24:08.:24:10.

points. At the end of three rounds the competitor with the most points

:24:11.:24:15.

wins the match but in the event of a tie a golden point over time round

:24:16.:24:18.

is held, the first to register a point wins the contest. The tala

:24:19.:24:26.

Mohammed walked out against Beigi Harchegani knowing a win would

:24:27.:24:29.

guarantee him gold or silver. We can pick up the contest at the start of

:24:30.:24:33.

the second round after a scoreless first. John Cullen and Neil Adams

:24:34.:24:36.

come and take. -- commentate. A massive mountain of an opponent

:24:37.:24:46.

here, Beigi Harchegani, standing six feet six. Those men just leaning

:24:47.:24:51.

back. This one yet to take light as a contest.

:24:52.:24:59.

There was the first point on the board for Mohammed, a little push

:25:00.:25:04.

fit underneath the guard. That will be very helpful. A good start. How

:25:05.:25:11.

often have we seen that score? The simple kick, straightforward. And

:25:12.:25:18.

right on target. Doing really well to stay in the ring, Lutalo

:25:19.:25:24.

Muhammad. Reeling and rocking, but staying in the Carioca Arena 2 is

:25:25.:25:28.

the can he stay on the song here? One point two the go. Two kyong-gos,

:25:29.:25:42.

hang in there. Good defence from Lutalo Muhammad, reducing the

:25:43.:25:47.

target. Harchegani having lots to look at here. This tempo sitting the

:25:48.:25:51.

British fighter here. From Walthamstow. He's doing really well

:25:52.:25:57.

to keep this tempo. Harchegani coming forward a bit more now, the

:25:58.:26:04.

referee having a close look. It will be a kyong-go for holding the leg.

:26:05.:26:09.

Lutalo Muhammad just questioning that momentarily. Get his focus

:26:10.:26:10.

back. That's it, isn't it, he's just

:26:11.:26:20.

waiting. Waiting that little bit too long, the referee said he wants more

:26:21.:26:27.

action. Muhammad just waiting. Scoring with that wonderful

:26:28.:26:31.

headshot. His patience pays off. Precision firing into the face there

:26:32.:26:38.

of Beigi Harchegani. A 3-point lead. Perfect timing. Perfect, just

:26:39.:26:44.

hanging off there and waiting for the Azeri to come in. Almost scoring

:26:45.:26:50.

with another chop kick as a response to the back kick. Lutalo Muhammad's

:26:51.:26:54.

technique and timing, doing really well, but it's Harchegani that

:26:55.:26:58.

flicks one around the back. Are we going to see a kyong-go? There looks

:26:59.:27:06.

to be some holding there. And that headshot has been invalidated. If

:27:07.:27:10.

you hold and kicked to the face, it doesn't count. No video replay

:27:11.:27:15.

needed. Kyong-go given. It has given Lutalo Muhammad a very handy four

:27:16.:27:24.

point lead. This is the semifinal in the men's under 80 kilograms

:27:25.:27:29.

grouping. Lutalo Muhammad of Great Britain against Beigi Harchegani of

:27:30.:27:33.

Azerbaijan. The Azeri is that all of the two. The big gap in favour of

:27:34.:27:41.

the Brit, four points in front. The virtue of that flexibility, tries

:27:42.:27:45.

again, with a flick to the head. Tense times. Olympic final at stake.

:27:46.:27:54.

Do you attack, do you defend? He takes a kyong-go. He takes a

:27:55.:27:57.

kyong-go because he closed that down. He didn't want to be there for

:27:58.:28:04.

the reverse kick. 5-2 now. Little push kick from Harchegani. The space

:28:05.:28:09.

open. He capitalised. Tries with a little hook kick to the body there.

:28:10.:28:20.

We can just about hear Steve Jennings the British team coach

:28:21.:28:25.

advising to go higher with that push kick to try and close the gap.

:28:26.:28:32.

Almost closing the gap, Harchegani responds, from Muhammad. This one

:28:33.:28:35.

going back and forward. It's a kyong-go for stepping out. 5-3,

:28:36.:28:39.

Lutalo Muhammad having a conversation with Steve Jennings. He

:28:40.:28:45.

felt there was a head kick. Really going for the head, Harchegani going

:28:46.:28:53.

for the big points. We mentioned the importance of staying concentrated

:28:54.:28:59.

and not just defending, Harchegani. Two points down, but there is a

:29:00.:29:03.

kyong-go against Muhammad. Into the final minute. He is trying to close

:29:04.:29:08.

the gap, Muhammad, I think he has to be careful. Because we seen it so

:29:09.:29:13.

often in this last minute. Harchegani is going to come forward,

:29:14.:29:19.

he's looking for the big points. Big points, but not much time left. In

:29:20.:29:25.

which to do it. Lutalo Muhammad using the push kick, trying to

:29:26.:29:28.

maintain this lead, goes with a headshot of his own. This tousled

:29:29.:29:33.

affair will suit the British fighter. Breathing hard. Huge

:29:34.:29:37.

pressure. Uncharted territory, Olympic bronze in London, can he go

:29:38.:29:44.

one further here? Again, closing it up. 5- for now. He's closed the gap.

:29:45.:29:54.

One more point to even it all up. The defensive tactics of Lutalo

:29:55.:30:01.

Muhammad, will they pay off? Beigi Harchegani of Azerbaijan is one

:30:02.:30:04.

points down. The Olympic Games final awaits. Tries with the head kick.

:30:05.:30:08.

Lutalo Muhammad manages to seal the deal, perfect shot from him.

:30:09.:30:12.

Response from Harchegani. It's all kicking off here. Ten seconds to go

:30:13.:30:16.

in the third round. 11-7. Lutalo Muhammad of Great Britain on the

:30:17.:30:21.

cusp of an Olympic Games final. Shifts around. The clock is ticking

:30:22.:30:27.

down. Two seconds left. The kyong-go, he'll take it all-day...

:30:28.:30:34.

Lutalo Muhammad is in the finals. Tremendous scenes here, picture

:30:35.:30:44.

perfect performance. Lutalo Muhammad of Great Britain, tactically

:30:45.:30:53.

perfect, the timing was spot on, patients, it is most certainly a

:30:54.:30:59.

virtue. Tactical masterclass. Thank you. We had a great game plans. Me

:31:00.:31:06.

and my coach. We executed it. I am so grateful that I have this

:31:07.:31:11.

platform and opportunity, the Olympic final and I have got one

:31:12.:31:16.

more step before I accomplish my goal. You must take so much

:31:17.:31:21.

confidence into the final, you looked so powerful throughout the

:31:22.:31:26.

round. I feel really good. We worked hard in Manchester at the academy,

:31:27.:31:34.

the preparation, on many occasion, I wanted to stop, it was that hard. It

:31:35.:31:39.

is nice to be rewarded with the fruits of my hard labour but it is a

:31:40.:31:46.

team effort. You went further than London 2012. We are in the final

:31:47.:31:52.

now. It is guaranteed silver, but who wants that. We can speak to Nick

:31:53.:31:57.

Hope who has been interviewing Lutalo Muhammad and he is in the

:31:58.:32:03.

arena. He had to put up with hate mail before 2012, it appears, when

:32:04.:32:09.

you watch those interviews, he has really got something. I think he

:32:10.:32:14.

learned a lot from that difficult experience that he went through. It

:32:15.:32:19.

was the biggest story ever to hit tae kwon do -- tae kwon do, but he

:32:20.:32:26.

never asked for all of that controversy. The hate mail and abuse

:32:27.:32:31.

and even his parents being followed home from work by reporters, he

:32:32.:32:36.

found that difficult but he then battled through and won that bronze

:32:37.:32:41.

medal, he learned a lot of character and he has taken that through, the

:32:42.:32:44.

last Olympia Einkaufszentrum years have not been easy, he has had

:32:45.:32:52.

injuries. It takes when it really matters. There was a real battle to

:32:53.:32:59.

get through today, there were some serious tests. In the second round

:33:00.:33:05.

fights, he was up against Steven Lopez, the most legendary figure in

:33:06.:33:10.

tae kwon do. A two time champion, got a bronze medal in Beijing, one

:33:11.:33:15.

of the greatest fighters in the world and the crowd get behind him.

:33:16.:33:19.

To come through that as comfortably as he did was incredible and in the

:33:20.:33:26.

semi-finals he was up against the guy who worked out the one he

:33:27.:33:29.

knocked out the number one and that was an incredible fight. An awful

:33:30.:33:34.

lot of pressure. He has been lapping up the atmosphere. He is almost like

:33:35.:33:41.

a boxer, trying to get them onside. He powered through the rounds. How

:33:42.:33:47.

does the final look when he goes at 215 in the morning. He said about

:33:48.:33:53.

getting the crowd onside, the man he is up against from the Ivory Coast,

:33:54.:34:00.

had the onside, Cheick Sallah Cisse. He was up against a German in the

:34:01.:34:03.

quarterfinals and if you remember the World Cup from 2004, the Germans

:34:04.:34:10.

did well against the resilience. They decided to back an Ivory Coast

:34:11.:34:14.

fighter. It will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts and Cheick

:34:15.:34:19.

Sallah Cisse is the world number three. He would go into the final as

:34:20.:34:33.

If you have been out all day and had only just arrived back, I need to

:34:34.:34:39.

tell you it has been a historic day for British's women's sport. --
