Henrik Stenson on the 16th. Second shot.

:00:07.:00:19.

Oh, how good is that? It is brilliant from Stenson. There was a

:00:20.:00:29.

hush all around the green. And an eruption of applause as that ball

:00:30.:00:36.

just stopped behind the bin. He threw it up beyond the flag, beyond

:00:37.:00:46.

the pin. The gallery is now 12 deep watching Stenson and Rose. Marcus

:00:47.:00:52.

Fraser has been playing the best golf of the grouping in the last

:00:53.:00:58.

couple of holes. Justin Rose needs this to be good.

:00:59.:01:05.

If he is to stay 15-under or at least stay in front of Stenson by

:01:06.:01:12.

one. It is a very makeable putt currently.

:01:13.:01:27.

Oh, that is a little slip from Justin Rose. He's come up short. And

:01:28.:01:35.

he knows it. Justin Rose perhaps scuffed it

:01:36.:01:51.

slightly but left it well short. Fraser tossed it up, Stenson tossed

:01:52.:02:00.

it up, they both have very makeable putts as a result. It is certainly

:02:01.:02:07.

advantage Sweden on 16. A chance possibly for Henrik Stenson to get

:02:08.:02:13.

that shot back. He's got a birdie putt from about six feet. Justin

:02:14.:02:20.

Rose has left his at least 20 feet short.

:02:21.:02:26.

He's battling to become the Olympic champion.

:02:27.:02:55.

It is going to be a slight uphill putt, a little bump, then down off

:02:56.:03:02.

the right for Justin Rose. He needs to cover every blade of

:03:03.:03:24.

grass. He doesn't want to let the Olympic gold medal slip out of his

:03:25.:03:28.

grasp. He leads by one with three holes to play. It is a birdie putt.

:03:29.:04:05.

He's got a very good line here. Oh, that was so unlucky. How did that

:04:06.:04:16.

Miss? He could not have hit it better. It was a wonderful putt.

:04:17.:04:24.

Justin Rose... It is in, it is tracking towards the hole, how does

:04:25.:04:31.

it break that much so late? It goes by on the front edge of the hole.

:04:32.:04:37.

And Henrik Stenson breathes as big a sigh of relief as any. Tension has

:04:38.:04:45.

been mounting here, Stenson has to make it. But it is going to be

:04:46.:04:57.

Fraser first. He played a very nice chip on 14.

:04:58.:05:15.

Fraser can't make birdie, has to settle for par. All eyes now in

:05:16.:05:29.

Sweden's Henrik Stenson. -- all eyes now on Sweden's Henrik Stenson.

:05:30.:05:36.

Fraser is 1-over for his round of golf. Justin Rose, 3-under. Matt

:05:37.:05:44.

Kuchar, 63 today, currently occupying third place on his own at

:05:45.:05:48.

13-under par. He is in the clubhouse.

:05:49.:06:10.

Justin Rose, any range of emotion for him. Apprehensive, annoyed,

:06:11.:06:15.

agitated. Stenson for birdie to join Rose for

:06:16.:06:25.

15-under. I think it is very straight. Just a

:06:26.:06:50.

hair's-breadth right. Just got a second opinion from his caddy. Just

:06:51.:07:02.

a hair left-to-right. Henrik Stenson has to make this putt. He makes it!

:07:03.:07:11.

He makes birdie on 16 to draw level with Britain's Justin Rose. At

:07:12.:07:22.

15-under par. Rose still has this par to make, and there are no

:07:23.:07:31.

formalities, really, but this should be a mere formality. That putt

:07:32.:07:42.

slipped agonisingly by. I can tell you Justin Rose... He makes this

:07:43.:07:53.

par. He kept saying in the build-up, I want my career record to read,

:07:54.:08:00.

"Justin Rose, multiple open champion and gold-medallist." He's desperate

:08:01.:08:05.

for this gold medal. Him and Henrik Stenson. He thinks this Olympic

:08:06.:08:12.

medal might make him a little bit more famous, but still not the most

:08:13.:08:18.

famous in Sweden. I think that is still Zlatan Ibrahimovic by some

:08:19.:08:23.

margin, the Swedish footballer, and playing for Manchester United. So,

:08:24.:08:29.

Stenson is on the tee first, after his birdie at 16, two holes to play,

:08:30.:08:37.

it is a short par-3, and then a reachable in two par-5. Two good

:08:38.:08:40.

scoring holes. Two superb golfers. It is five more than we would

:08:41.:09:23.

normally play, isn't it? Get it passed there. Only an extra

:09:24.:09:50.

two. Henrik Stenson, 122 metres, par

:09:51.:09:56.

three, tucked away behind the bunker on the left. The left front side of

:09:57.:10:05.

this green at 17, the penultimate hole in the final round of the men's

:10:06.:10:10.

individual stroke play. It has come down to the finishing holes between

:10:11.:10:14.

two major champions looking to become the first Olympic champions

:10:15.:10:16.

in 112 years. Opted to go with the wedge, Henrik

:10:17.:10:33.

Stenson. A lot of adrenaline flowing there, that was a wedge. Marcus

:10:34.:10:38.

Fraser is next. It is going to go left. My goodness,

:10:39.:11:25.

I don't think anyone has been there on the 17th. It has completely flown

:11:26.:11:29.

in the green. His instruction is to hit 132 yard

:11:30.:11:51.

wedge. That is the instruction to Justin Rose, pitching wedge, 132,

:11:52.:11:57.

the instruction from his caddy. Please put the cameras down, stop

:11:58.:12:04.

taking pictures for one minute! It is going a little left. Oh, has

:12:05.:12:46.

it...? Its holding. So, a little long, maybe some adrenaline pumping

:12:47.:12:50.

for Rose and Stenson currently. It is to be expected. I could have hit

:12:51.:12:57.

nine. He went in with a wedge. He went in with wedge, hit the back

:12:58.:13:11.

of the green, and is over the back, Justin Rose. He tells his caddy was

:13:12.:13:17.

a good call! Think how far over he would have been if he'd of gone with

:13:18.:13:23.

nine. 15-under par, Justin Rose, 3-under for his round today. Henrik

:13:24.:13:27.

Stenson is 4-under. The round of the day from the United States, Matt

:13:28.:13:33.

Kuchar at 63. He is 13-under in third place on his own. Earlier on

:13:34.:13:43.

18... Bubba Watson, 7-under to finish up. He sees it slide by in a

:13:44.:13:54.

frustrating round of 70. He tapped this in. It hasn't been the kind of

:13:55.:14:02.

round he would have hoped for. Put him into a position where he was

:14:03.:14:07.

able to make a chase. CP could put some pressure on Stenson and Rose.

:14:08.:14:16.

And anybody else. Instead Bubba Watson looked frustrated by a number

:14:17.:14:26.

of putts that slipped by. He finishes the Olympic golf tournament

:14:27.:14:30.

in this competition in the individual stroke play on 7-under. A

:14:31.:14:34.

very popular character in golf is Bubba Watson. The ball into the

:14:35.:14:46.

grandstand. Oh, collectors items. It is a sold-out affair, and this is

:14:47.:14:51.

why. A titanic duel between Henrik and Justin Rose. Rose, doesn't have

:14:52.:15:02.

a victory on the PGA Tour this year, which is somewhat surprising. He has

:15:03.:15:07.

five Tour events left after Rio to find a win.

:15:08.:15:13.

First to go here on 17, Australia's Marcus Fraser. I think he has either

:15:14.:15:21.

a 5-wood or maybe a hybrid that he is going to use. Looks like maybe

:15:22.:15:27.

hybrid. Somebody's cell phone just rang. They have gone the Forde days.

:15:28.:15:37.

-- they have gone for four days. Nobody has been here on 17 before.

:15:38.:15:43.

This is a first. As far as this shot is concerned.

:15:44.:15:52.

Six, six. -- sit, sit. That's pretty good from there.

:15:53.:16:13.

The par-5 18th to come, into the wind.

:16:14.:16:22.

There have not been too many birdies on the 18th. Not too many, but there

:16:23.:16:35.

has been an eagle. A chip in. The birdies that have come out of the

:16:36.:16:40.

bunker. A couple of birdies on the green, but not too many, you're

:16:41.:16:44.

right. Just off the green here, Justin Rose. He and Stenson locked

:16:45.:16:52.

at 15-under par and he's opting to keep the flag in. He can take it out

:16:53.:16:56.

if he wants, but he wants it in. Rose for birdie on 17. It started to

:16:57.:17:27.

move. It was a double swing, left then right. But that is a safe par.

:17:28.:17:43.

He will have to mark it. ORE ODUBA: Justin Rose will be

:17:44.:17:51.

putting the par. He has tied at the moment. Henrik Stenson putting

:17:52.:17:56.

shortly. The conclusion of the golf will take place on BBC One. If you

:17:57.:18:02.

want to see whether Justin Rose can get the Gold Medal, join the team on

:18:03.:18:11.

BBC One I am here on Copacabana beach looking forward to the next

:18:12.:18:14.

few hours on BBC Four. Before we get into what is to come, here is what

:18:15.:18:18.

has happened so far with some of the headlines.

:18:19.:18:23.

History for Max Whitlock as he begins Britain's first Levick

:18:24.:18:29.

champion in gymnastics after winning gold in the men's four final.

:18:30.:18:33.

Amazing scenes as Brazilian gymnasts take silver and bronze. Two-time

:18:34.:18:41.

world champion Nick Dempsey celebrates his 36th birthday by

:18:42.:18:48.

becoming the first male windsurfer to win silver. Jemima some gong

:18:49.:18:59.

became the first Kenyan woman to win the Olympic marathon.

:19:00.:19:08.

Over two gymnastics we go, the women's individual vault.

:19:09.:19:27.

Just a 0.3 for the large step on landing. Just joining Dipa Karmakar.

:19:28.:19:46.

This vault is going to be something special. One of the hardest bolts

:19:47.:19:53.

that a female gymnast can produce. It is known, brace yourselves, as

:19:54.:19:59.

the vault of death. Slightly overdramatic, I think, don't you?

:20:00.:20:05.

You wouldn't catch me on it. She is posting a seven difficulty. We have

:20:06.:20:11.

seen one gymnast performed the same manoeuvre in this final and over

:20:12.:20:15.

rotate it. Let's see how she can get on with it. Big powerful run, it

:20:16.:20:23.

uses the handspring entry and lands on her feet. They have to decide

:20:24.:20:30.

whether her feet landed first. It is a big deduction for such a deep

:20:31.:20:35.

landing. Once the knees bent lower than 90 degrees, the judges start

:20:36.:20:39.

deducting. Very ambitious. She blocked well, she talked. Paul is

:20:40.:20:47.

the knees apart. Feet do get down first, but bounces immediately up.

:20:48.:20:55.

Polls that took in tight. Feet, hips. Only just. Very close. And if

:20:56.:21:01.

the hips landed first, it would be zero. You are dicing with scoring

:21:02.:21:13.

zero. Interestingly, in this final, a lot are performing their huge

:21:14.:21:21.

difficulty as the second vault. Particularly with this format, they

:21:22.:21:27.

use a slightly easier first vault to get the feel of the board and

:21:28.:21:34.

everything sorted. Wang Yan, currently in second place. 14.9 is

:21:35.:21:41.

the sport you are looking for at the top of the scoreboard as it appears

:21:42.:21:44.

on your screen. The average of the two vaults. Two gymnasts still to

:21:45.:22:01.

go. Our slow motion made it look like the feet went down first, but

:22:02.:22:05.

they are having to think long and hard about it. This mat, we were

:22:06.:22:12.

talking earlier about how squashy it is and how tricky it is to get a

:22:13.:22:19.

solid landing. You have to be very spatially aware and know exactly

:22:20.:22:23.

where the landing is. With the mat being slightly soft, they have two

:22:24.:22:30.

really take that impact. The result is in. It is a big score.

:22:31.:22:40.

The average score puts her into second place at the moment. Maria

:22:41.:22:57.

Paseka, the penultimate gymnast in this women's vault final. World

:22:58.:23:00.

champion last year. The European champion. She is posting a

:23:01.:23:12.

difficulty of 6.4. She only voted for the Russian team here. She

:23:13.:23:17.

stacked the landing, but the legs were wild off the top of the

:23:18.:23:22.

platform. She looks a bit stunned by it all. Twisted efficiently, had

:23:23.:23:28.

enough flight, but there will be deductions for that untidy leg

:23:29.:23:29.

separation in the flight. You could see those legs were split

:23:30.:23:45.

on the top and she had to use that to initiate the turn. The floor hit

:23:46.:23:50.

her, rather than her hitting that landing. You can see she is a

:23:51.:23:56.

slightly off landing and was that first fought just out? You cannot

:23:57.:24:07.

see from that angle. -- first foot. She probably will get a deduction

:24:08.:24:16.

therefore one fought out. -- one foot out. Well, foot scores 15.266

:24:17.:24:30.

for her first vault -- Maria Paseka scores.

:24:31.:24:36.

Second vault, this one a 6.3 difficulty. This is her favourite

:24:37.:24:48.

vault, they want she did 4-team final. A deep landing and a step

:24:49.:24:56.

back, indicating she was a bit short of height and rotation. She has done

:24:57.:25:00.

her job for Russia. She doesn't look too happy at all with that

:25:01.:25:05.

performance. Whether it is down to the vault or whether she is

:25:06.:25:11.

injured... She seemed to be hobbling slightly on her way back from the

:25:12.:25:15.

first vault. It took her by surprise. I think so, and she hasn't

:25:16.:25:23.

done masses of work out here. She has only vaulted and looks like she

:25:24.:25:28.

is a little delicate. You can see here, the legs are split on the top

:25:29.:25:34.

and then just her hips behind her feet, so she has to take the large

:25:35.:25:40.

step backwards to cover. But still a huge difficulty on that vault. Legs

:25:41.:25:50.

locked together throughout. And then just a step back.

:25:51.:26:02.

The smile comes now. All smiles now, she is in the lead. Maria Paseka

:26:03.:26:12.

guaranteed a silver with just one gymnast to go, and Giulia

:26:13.:26:24.

Steingruber is guaranteed a bronze. Karmakar will be pushed out of the

:26:25.:26:31.

medals, we think because we have Simone Biles now. She is hoping for

:26:32.:26:34.

five gold medals at the Olympic championship finals. She is very

:26:35.:26:40.

much on course and this is one of her favourite events. We could

:26:41.:26:45.

potentially see a perfect ten for execution.

:26:46.:26:50.

I think she went for that landing and took a hop back. She looks

:26:51.:26:58.

disappointed. Most gymnasts would celebrate with that huge vault. She

:26:59.:27:05.

pushed so high and delayed the twist so long, didn't she. She really

:27:06.:27:11.

contacts the platform well. The hips, she blocks, she goes up, up,,

:27:12.:27:17.

waits for the at the top. She almost went for so much height that she

:27:18.:27:23.

lacked a bit of rotation. Fantastic vaulting. Everything is textbook.

:27:24.:27:27.

The legs are locked together, the I'm positioning, the block at the

:27:28.:27:32.

top, then round off, not a lot to deduct. The only deduction will be

:27:33.:27:40.

that small hop on the landing. Matt was saying that one day we might see

:27:41.:27:44.

the perfect ten. She will be up in the nines for execution here. She

:27:45.:27:54.

is. 9.6 for execution and a 6.34 difficulty. -- 6.3 the difficulty.

:27:55.:28:06.

All-around champion here. The small hop, I think you just witnessed a

:28:07.:28:18.

third Olympic gold medal for Simone Biles. She knew she had to up her

:28:19.:28:24.

vault to be sure of the gold medal and she did it with ease. As smooth

:28:25.:28:30.

as you like. Being congratulated even before the score has come in.

:28:31.:28:39.

She qualified through with a 16.05 and first place at the moment is

:28:40.:28:47.

15.2 five. We can safely say she is Olympic champion. -- 15.20 five.

:28:48.:29:03.

I don't think Maria Paseka would have come here thinking to get gold.

:29:04.:29:12.

No, it would be Simone Biles. The trademarked lock up into the air

:29:13.:29:16.

before she starts twisting. It is the gymnast that twist early off the

:29:17.:29:23.

top that have problems. She has been threatening for the last two years

:29:24.:29:26.

to be able to come here and dominate and she doesn't look like she will

:29:27.:29:30.

falter at the final step. The score is in. 15.966 as an

:29:31.:29:47.

average. That second vault was a score of 16.0 33. -- 16.0 33. The

:29:48.:30:00.

bar finalists will be glad she's not in the final. One medal we can

:30:01.:30:01.

contest. Just a dream to at and a joy to

:30:02.:30:12.

watch. She makes it look so effortless! Which is the mark of a

:30:13.:30:22.

great gymnast. Giulia Steingruber, 14.9! I'd save those were first

:30:23.:30:34.

three vaulters other than the one from the gymnast from Korea who beat

:30:35.:30:39.

herself by not doing the vaults she was sure about. Those were the three

:30:40.:30:44.

vaulters you'd expect to be a finalist. Amongst great company as

:30:45.:30:50.

well, it was a great moment for Oksana Chusovitina. She competed for

:30:51.:30:57.

three different countries now. Olympic champion and vault is Simone

:30:58.:31:04.

Biles. Maria Paseka, who took bronze in London, goes one better and takes

:31:05.:31:12.

silver. Giulia Steingruber, three times European champion, takes the

:31:13.:31:13.

bronze. What an Olympics it has been for

:31:14.:31:31.

Simone Biles. A third gold medal in the women's vault. The men's pommel

:31:32.:31:37.

final featuring Louis Smith and Max Whitlock will take place in ten

:31:38.:31:43.

minutes. That will be on BBC One. It's time to head to the Olympic

:31:44.:31:47.

Tennis Centre, though, because we are in the closing stages of the

:31:48.:31:52.

mixed doubles final and it is an all-American affair. There is a

:31:53.:31:58.

tie-break at the end of the first set against Venus Williams, who of

:31:59.:32:02.

course got knocked out of the singles but is looking for a fifth

:32:03.:32:06.

Olympic gold, she is alongside Rajeev Ram, let's pick up the

:32:07.:32:07.

action. Out, only just. No harm in trying,

:32:08.:32:58.

that his fish roe. This match nearing 50 minutes induration. The

:32:59.:33:02.

first set tie-break, that is now under way. Lots of discussions at

:33:03.:33:11.

the back of the court from all four players. Will they change something

:33:12.:33:21.

up? Will they try a surprise? Or just a big serve? Challenging now.

:33:22.:33:35.

They don't challenge very often. It was a good decision!

:33:36.:33:53.

Good second serve, Mattek-Sands could've done more with the first

:33:54.:34:01.

ball. Great tennis between these four. Surprise in this situation

:34:02.:34:10.

that Ram is trying to hit at Mattek-Sands, instead of going Sock.

:34:11.:34:12.

Ambitious effort. It's been so good throughout, and it

:34:13.:34:35.

continues here. Bethanie Mattek-Sands is taking it to her

:34:36.:34:43.

more highly ranked opponents. There is a tendency to look for an

:34:44.:34:50.

underdog. The team you'd go for. It is difficult with an all-American

:34:51.:34:57.

affair. Bethanie Mattek-Sands, that is the go to position, and she's

:34:58.:35:00.

loving it. There has to be good chemistry

:35:01.:35:28.

between the players. So that the other player says, don't worry about

:35:29.:35:34.

it. Because you don't want that player to tense up the air and

:35:35.:35:36.

affect them even more. Nice. Nicely close-down indeed by

:35:37.:35:53.

Ram. He has had chances to put balls away. He shifted his footwork in

:35:54.:36:00.

time. He didn't try to get a big cut at the ball. He got his body out of

:36:01.:36:09.

the way. What is this set going to turn on? Is at one point in

:36:10.:36:11.

particular? It might be this one. Oh, Mattek-Sands again! Brilliant

:36:12.:36:29.

from the 31-year-old from Phoenix. She is really turning it on here.

:36:30.:36:37.

Yes, he did nothing wrong. You'd think he is in the position he needs

:36:38.:36:44.

to be. He's expecting the ball to go the other way, as you normally

:36:45.:36:49.

would. But there was just that small space there and Mattek-Sands took

:36:50.:36:54.

it. Again, the poker face. They change ends.

:36:55.:37:00.

It says on her Twitter handle that she likes slow walks and fast cars,

:37:01.:37:06.

Mattek-Sands. Venus gets involved. Often things

:37:07.:37:41.

can happen. Oh, great stretch from both men and

:37:42.:38:32.

Williams to stay on the point. That's the one were talking about,

:38:33.:38:38.

5-3. Huge point. Look at that instinctive volley from Ram. A

:38:39.:38:43.

pick-up on a half volley, and Sock with a golden chance to put the ball

:38:44.:38:45.

away. Oh, she made that known. She did

:38:46.:39:17.

make it! No, she didn't. I thought I heard the no call. She keeps going

:39:18.:39:23.

for it. 6- through all of a sudden but going down swinging. Just the

:39:24.:39:32.

one mini break. Throughout the set, Mattek-Sands, she goes for those

:39:33.:39:37.

shots. But there's long points can make the difference, the momentum

:39:38.:39:39.

changes. Three set points. There it is, the first set goes the

:39:40.:40:00.

way of Williams and Ram in a tie-break. 7-3. Great tennis from

:40:01.:40:05.

both of these teams, but only one has number one hand on the gold.

:40:06.:40:54.

Mattek-Sands and Sock will want to improve their first serve

:40:55.:41:11.

percentage. Best player overall was Venus Williams, you'd say.

:41:12.:41:17.

Especially at the tail end of the tie-break. Rock-solid. Her team is

:41:18.:41:21.

up one set. Tennis matches can often turn on

:41:22.:42:44.

just one point. And it was when Ram and Williams were stretched by

:42:45.:42:47.

Mattek-Sands and Sock, they came at them and were able to keep the ball

:42:48.:42:53.

in play, force Sock to play one more ball, he put it into the net, and

:42:54.:42:56.

they didn't look back to win the tie-break. Ram and Williams 7-3 and

:42:57.:43:08.

lead 1- set in the mixed doubles 2016.

:43:09.:43:36.

Sock kidding around though, saying challenge.

:43:37.:43:48.

You don't kid a kid. Venus Williams just hammering it back. She is

:43:49.:43:57.

playing well, you are so right. Both girls are playing exceptionally

:43:58.:44:02.

well. I love Jack Sock, the back story behind him, he's a colourful

:44:03.:44:09.

character, like his playing partner, Lady Gaga. Jack Sock for President

:44:10.:44:14.

campaign began this year. Not leader of the free world,

:44:15.:44:33.

although there is an argument as to whether Jack would be better than

:44:34.:44:37.

Donald Trump, but Jack Sock for President 2016 was to build support

:44:38.:44:43.

for him to be here at the 2016 Olympic Games. He got plenty of

:44:44.:44:50.

support. He is here because he is a very good young talent.

:44:51.:45:10.

There is some fabulous tennis being played on this centre court.

:45:11.:45:18.

Fabulous. Venus couldn't react in time.

:45:19.:45:25.

An instinctive volley from Mattek-Sands. That's what doubles is

:45:26.:45:32.

all about. That was called out. Mattek-Sands

:45:33.:45:54.

again. There is a challenge. She was out of that point, beaten three

:45:55.:46:04.

times. We said she doesn't challenge if ever, she had a good look at

:46:05.:46:11.

that. Fine time to challenge, keeps them in the game.

:46:12.:46:22.

Took a lot of deciding, that. Another story I love about Jack

:46:23.:46:35.

Sock, Leyton Hewitt involved, who may be back in Australia watching

:46:36.:46:42.

this right now. It eventually goes the way of Jack and Bethanie.

:46:43.:47:01.

I can tell you now. He was serving to stay in the first set at 30-0.

:47:02.:47:08.

The ball was caught out by the chair umpire. Before Leyton Hewitt said

:47:09.:47:12.

the game, Jack said, I think you should challenge that. After the

:47:13.:47:17.

review, the server was found to be in, giving Leyton the point and he

:47:18.:47:22.

went on to win the match. How about that? When your opponent says, I

:47:23.:47:30.

think you should challenge it. Not sure he would have done that at a

:47:31.:47:34.

regular to match. Good point, but I still love the sportsmanship.

:47:35.:47:43.

Oh! She was in such good position there, Venus, to hit the volley. You

:47:44.:47:55.

need a bit of luck. Didn't catch the ball cleanly, Sock,

:47:56.:48:30.

but it turned out to be a good shot. Not much Williams could do. It was

:48:31.:48:37.

such a well struck forehand from Sock.

:48:38.:48:48.

Ram and Williams, you could call them a makeshift combination. Ram

:48:49.:48:56.

wasn't even supposed to be part of the team.

:48:57.:49:20.

To go from not meaning to be in the Olympics to maybe getting a gold

:49:21.:49:30.

medal, Ram. Hasn't done a whole lot wrong in this match, Venus Williams.

:49:31.:49:34.

Unable to connect with a smash their, and so they take the break

:49:35.:49:46.

lead in that number to -- set number two.

:49:47.:49:58.

It is an interesting mindset, like so many athletes in so many sports,

:49:59.:50:14.

including tennis, this could be their main aim, to win an Olympic

:50:15.:50:18.

gold, absolutely, but also an Olympic medal depending on who you

:50:19.:50:21.

are and where you come from. You are in this game, you have the silver in

:50:22.:50:25.

the bike, it is just whether you give it to your opponent and swap it

:50:26.:50:29.

for a gold already you keep it there. It is not like it is a

:50:30.:50:36.

regular tour event. If you go into a final in a tour event, you are not

:50:37.:50:40.

playing fair any hardware. If you lose the match, you don't get any

:50:41.:50:44.

hardware. In this situation, even if you lose, you come out with a silver

:50:45.:50:48.

medal. That may release the pressure on some players. They go when

:50:49.:50:53.

thinking, OK, even if I don't come out on top, I still get the silver

:50:54.:50:55.

medal. These two have been having fun at

:50:56.:51:05.

the entire week, Sock and Mattek-Sands. They beat Konta and

:51:06.:51:15.

Jamie Murray in the first round. The Brazilians in the quarterfinal,

:51:16.:51:25.

a couple of breaks opened the match on either side. They also trailed

:51:26.:51:31.

4-1 in the second. Mattek-Sands was saying it was a raucous atmosphere

:51:32.:51:39.

playing the home team. Great doubles players. 6-4, 7-6.

:51:40.:51:47.

The key shot there was for venous racing up whilst keeping the point

:51:48.:52:45.

going. -- Venus. She has done it again. She loves

:52:46.:53:30.

that line. She is a shotmaker, Bethanie Mattek-Sands. The textbooks

:53:31.:53:37.

plate would be to go right down the middle between the players, but no,

:53:38.:53:43.

she sent it up the line. -- textbook play.

:53:44.:54:00.

Double faults never really in the script for players, but especially

:54:01.:54:12.

not on a game point. Three double faults.

:54:13.:54:40.

She saw it straightaway. His body was ready to cross, his racket was

:54:41.:54:49.

not. Not sure whether Ram knew about that or not.

:54:50.:55:26.

Oh, lovely. Pulled away from a high ball but was put out there to test

:55:27.:55:33.

Mattek-Sands. She was right up to the challenge, as she was all the

:55:34.:55:36.

way through. Back to deuce. Wasn't enough depth on the lob. This

:55:37.:55:54.

could be a gold medal moment in the match.

:55:55.:56:16.

Separated Mattek-Sands and Sock writes down the middle. Sock

:56:17.:56:23.

appeared closer than Mattek-Sands. But because it was such a good shot,

:56:24.:56:26.

that is what happens. Oh, great finish from Jack Sock.

:56:27.:56:45.

Great play from both these Americans. Mattek-Sands on the

:56:46.:56:49.

defence. She thought she might have had the winner there and then Jack

:56:50.:57:01.

goes back. A bigger wingspan, the team of Venus and Ram haven't picked

:57:02.:57:08.

up a lot of balls. 91 centimetres, or six foot three.

:57:09.:57:31.

Lost the first set in a tie-break. That is called out and a 2-0 lead

:57:32.:57:44.

becomes a three in the second set. The combination of Bethanie

:57:45.:57:46.

Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock in this gold medal Mixed Doubles match of

:59:51.:59:57.

to concentrate on cycling and four Mark Cavendish, this is a very

:59:58.:00:03.

important Games. He won 30 stages at the Tour de France, but he struggles

:00:04.:00:07.

in the Olympics. In Beijing, no medals, and none in London. Third

:00:08.:00:09.

time lucky? So, Mark, another Olympic Games, how

:00:10.:00:30.

are you feeling going into Rio? Yeah, I'm excited about it, we've

:00:31.:00:34.

got a great group around us, all the teams, the women and the men, the

:00:35.:00:38.

sprint, every aspect, I know the times are good on the track, the

:00:39.:00:41.

team have just smashed the Tour de France on the road, so a pretty

:00:42.:00:47.

exciting time to be on the bicycle. How much confidence after such a

:00:48.:00:50.

successful tour, having done things you have never done before, warned

:00:51.:00:54.

the yellow jersey? I made every day count this year, because I knew my

:00:55.:01:01.

morale would be picked up, I know it has worked out, everything I have

:01:02.:01:05.

done has worked, if I can just quickly transition over to the

:01:06.:01:09.

track, OK, I am on a bike, but people don't realise how hard it is

:01:10.:01:14.

to go from road to track. It is like a Formula One driver going to a

:01:15.:01:18.

rally cross race, like, he is going to do well, but striving is not the

:01:19.:01:23.

same, it is the same like this. My form is there, but it is about

:01:24.:01:27.

transitioning, and if I can do that quickly, I have got a better chance.

:01:28.:01:33.

World champion, 30 stages in the tour, where does the Olympics it? It

:01:34.:01:38.

is that little one thing that I have not done. Within my physicality, I

:01:39.:01:43.

have done everything I can accept when the Olympic Games, you know. It

:01:44.:01:47.

is not going to define my career, do you know what I mean? As a British

:01:48.:01:51.

athlete it is likely to define my career, and it is the same on a

:01:52.:01:55.

personal level. I am incredibly patriotic, I am proud every time I

:01:56.:01:59.

wear the jersey and the like, and the Olympics is the highest thing

:02:00.:02:02.

you can do that at, so one a personal level, as a British sports

:02:03.:02:11.

person, it is a big thing. You went to Beijing, the Madison did not come

:02:12.:02:14.

off, you were the one to watch in the road race in 2012. The positives

:02:15.:02:19.

that I can take from that, I set a date I wanted to be in the best

:02:20.:02:23.

condition, and both times I was in the best condition I possibly could

:02:24.:02:27.

be, and I believed I was one of the strongest in the race, if not the

:02:28.:02:31.

strongest. Even though the results did not speak, I knew we didn't

:02:32.:02:35.

write both times. We made every single day count this year, so we

:02:36.:02:40.

are on the best run possible for those days. So the omnium for the

:02:41.:02:46.

first time, it is like the decathlon on the track, where do you think you

:02:47.:02:52.

are in that to my I am confident for it, I have done everything I can, I

:02:53.:02:55.

have worked on the events I am weaker at, I am pretty confident

:02:56.:02:59.

with the equipment, with the training, and with my form now that

:03:00.:03:07.

I will be in with a medal shout. Well, we can head to the Olympic

:03:08.:03:12.

Velodrome now, where Jill Douglas is standing by, and obviously a lot of

:03:13.:03:17.

attention on Mark Cavendish, no-one deserves anything by right, but I

:03:18.:03:20.

guess in other ways, given what he has given to the sport, he does

:03:21.:03:25.

deserve something at the Olympics. Nobody gives you an Olympic medal,

:03:26.:03:30.

but Mark Cavendish has worked very hard even to make the Rio Games, he

:03:31.:03:35.

has had to really commit to the track, and we saw him in action in

:03:36.:03:39.

the tour, where he has won 30 tracks, but he pulled out early to

:03:40.:03:44.

really focus on the track. Actually, some would say that is road cycling

:03:45.:03:48.

has benefited from the track were key has been doing, he is super

:03:49.:03:53.

quick on the road, we saw that in France, but he has made the

:03:54.:03:58.

challenge, it is a big challenge for him, he is in a classy field of

:03:59.:04:02.

riders, so nothing is a given, but he has left no stone and turned, he

:04:03.:04:07.

has worked hard to beat year, and I saw him on the track having a warm

:04:08.:04:13.

up, he looks in great shape. -- be here.

:04:14.:04:16.

Given the fact that Beijing and London did not go his way, is there

:04:17.:04:21.

any chance are perhaps a mental block of this being the Olympics? Or

:04:22.:04:26.

has he dismissed that already? Mark Cavendish is the consummate

:04:27.:04:30.

professional, this is a guy who has won stages of the two to France, the

:04:31.:04:35.

Giro d'Italia, he performs when he needs to, he is three times a world

:04:36.:04:40.

champion on the track through the madison, so I do not think he will

:04:41.:04:43.

be phased at all. He will not be thinking about Beijing or London,

:04:44.:04:48.

all he will be thinking about is Rio and putting out his best

:04:49.:04:52.

performance. His wife is here, the kids are here, and he will embrace

:04:53.:04:58.

this. What is the timetable today? Three events today, first in the

:04:59.:05:03.

scratch race, a bunch race basically off you go, first past the post

:05:04.:05:08.

wins, then the Furk alum and individual pursuit, not one of his

:05:09.:05:13.

strongest, then the elimination race. -- the four kilometre

:05:14.:05:19.

individual pursuit. They race around the track, and the person last over

:05:20.:05:24.

the line is out of the race. I think he is very strong in these bunch

:05:25.:05:28.

races, a very savvy racer, and he has worked very hard on the timed

:05:29.:05:33.

events to see if he can get improvements there as well. We are

:05:34.:05:38.

keeping our fingers crossed for Mark Cavendish, a word on Becky James,

:05:39.:05:41.

who has already dazzled this weekend. After all the excitement

:05:42.:05:46.

job yesterday, she is back on the track for the first stage of the

:05:47.:05:51.

women's sprint competition, they do a flying 200 which is a way of

:05:52.:05:56.

ceding the competition. She will have rested after what was an

:05:57.:06:02.

emotional day yesterday. The Olympic final, and what a

:06:03.:06:07.

line-up we have got. It has been a long road back for Becky James, but

:06:08.:06:13.

now she gets her chance. She can end up on the podium, any result is

:06:14.:06:17.

possible for her. Becky James is fourth in line. The race is on now.

:06:18.:06:29.

Right at the back is Becky James, she has plenty to do here. Becky

:06:30.:06:36.

James goes around the outside! And up towards the line, and I think

:06:37.:06:41.

Elis Ligtlee took it, but there is a medal for Becky James, and I think

:06:42.:06:45.

it is silver. Many congratulations, just what does

:06:46.:06:51.

that mean? Oh, I am lost for words, I do not think I have ever been lost

:06:52.:06:54.

for words, I cannot believe that has just happened. I was so desperate

:06:55.:06:59.

for that medal, and having George Clancy and my little sister, the

:07:00.:07:05.

medal we have all won together. -- having George here.

:07:06.:07:11.

Looking forward to seeing Becky James back in action, but a quick

:07:12.:07:17.

word on how qualification works? So basically they do a flying 200, that

:07:18.:07:21.

ranks them for the rest of the competition. Later today we will

:07:22.:07:25.

have the first round of the sprint, then it progresses through tomorrow,

:07:26.:07:29.

and the final is on the last day of competition on the track. Katie

:07:30.:07:33.

Marchand is also performing today, we will see her in action for Great

:07:34.:07:40.

Britain too. Thanks very much, we are looking forward to seeing what

:07:41.:07:44.

will happen at the velodrome. Standing by for us, Chris Boardman

:07:45.:07:50.

and Simon Brotherton. Hello, and welcome to live coverage

:07:51.:07:55.

from the track as Ebtissam Mohamed from Egypt crosses the line, her

:07:56.:07:59.

time is well short of the early pace here. The Chinese cyclist, who was

:08:00.:08:08.

already won a gold medal and set a record in the team sprint earlier,

:08:09.:08:12.

she was one of the early starters in terms of setting a qualifying time,

:08:13.:08:19.

and she has set the time to beat, 11.068 seconds. This rider is

:08:20.:08:29.

Lisandra Guerra, a world champion back from Manchester, a five-time

:08:30.:08:34.

world medallist, and a former Pan-American games sprint champion

:08:35.:08:38.

as well. As Jill was saying, the idea for the riders is to set a

:08:39.:08:43.

time, a flying time of 200 metres, which sets the seeding order for the

:08:44.:08:49.

rest of the competition, so important to get out of the blocks

:08:50.:08:53.

early and set a time to make life easier for oil cell. That is what we

:08:54.:09:00.

have seen in the men's competition, the British men's team got the

:09:01.:09:07.

easiest, they did not meet until the final, it could not have gone better

:09:08.:09:14.

for Britain. Lisandra Guerra is second fastest,. We do see quite a

:09:15.:09:25.

spread of abilities at the Olympic Games, but we do have the best

:09:26.:09:31.

riders here, so we might see a spread, 12.9 is the slowest so far,

:09:32.:09:39.

but I think we will be seeing possibly world and certainly Olympic

:09:40.:09:45.

records going here. Roundabouts 10.6, Becky James hoping for 10.7

:09:46.:09:54.

here. This is Monique Sullivan from Canada, three gold medals from the

:09:55.:09:57.

Pan-American games last summer, she wrote in the team sprint, finished

:09:58.:10:07.

in seventh position. Very strong wind up, really driving early to get

:10:08.:10:13.

the most out of this. She is the seventh rider on the track, Becky

:10:14.:10:16.

James will be up next, but money Sullivan is halfway down the back

:10:17.:10:23.

straight, putting everything down on the track, trying to eat out every

:10:24.:10:26.

fraction of a second, second-fastest so far, still leading is the Chinese

:10:27.:10:35.

cyclist, and now it is Becky James up onto the track. This is the

:10:36.:10:42.

effort from money Sullivan once more. She slowly winds down. Now

:10:43.:10:50.

Becky James up on the track 24 hours after winning the silver medal in

:10:51.:11:03.

the keirin final, and she started sprint campaign. So looking for

:11:04.:11:10.

somewhere in the region of 10.7, the rumour from the training camp is

:11:11.:11:13.

that she is well capable of that, and that is what it will take to

:11:14.:11:18.

qualify well in this event. Feel a big record is 10.724, set by

:11:19.:11:27.

Victoria Pendleton in London four years ago. She will really start to

:11:28.:11:32.

wind it up now, get on top of that year, and she will be flying around

:11:33.:11:36.

the track, the timer will start as she goes over the white line, Becky

:11:37.:11:43.

James' qualifying ride is on, down the back straight, powering around

:11:44.:11:46.

the track into the banking, now into the finishing straight, up towards

:11:47.:11:52.

the line, 10.7 to one, a new Olympic record! Becky James stars in style

:11:53.:11:59.

in the women's sprint. We thought that is what she would do, there

:12:00.:12:03.

were rumours coming from the camp that she was on an emotional high

:12:04.:12:08.

after that silver yesterday as well, nothing to lose. Great wind up as

:12:09.:12:12.

well, really at the top of the track, excellent execution. That

:12:13.:12:18.

ride from Becky James really brought the crowd to lie for the first time

:12:19.:12:22.

this afternoon, this is the opening event. -- to life. Now up for Spain

:12:23.:12:36.

is Helena Casas from Catalunya, finished eighth in the team sprint

:12:37.:12:41.

with Tanya Calvo, who we will see a little later in this qualifying

:12:42.:12:46.

process. Becky James is top of the leaderboard for Great Britain. She

:12:47.:12:53.

was only eight out of 27 because she has not got many UCI points, but

:12:54.:12:58.

that does not mean the form is not there, so the time could stand for

:12:59.:13:03.

some considerable time through this qualification. I do not think this

:13:04.:13:07.

will be quicker, nearly a full second behind.

:13:08.:15:03.

RICHEY: Katie Marchand still to come a little bit later, we're heading

:15:04.:15:07.

back to the Olympic Tennis Centre for the mixed doubles final, Venus

:15:08.:15:11.

Williams and Rajeev Ram won the first set, Jack Sock and Bethanie

:15:12.:15:17.

Mattek-Sands to the second, so we are into a super set tie-break.

:15:18.:15:34.

They are plus seven in the winners unenforced in the second set. Just

:15:35.:15:53.

five unforced errors. She has brought this into that tie-break,

:15:54.:15:58.

Mattek-Sands. Straight back at you. From Jack

:15:59.:16:39.

Sock. It had to be that good because the net coverage from Venus was

:16:40.:16:40.

excellent. Well, that has taken no time at all.

:16:41.:17:02.

They are going to have to channel some of their form from the

:17:03.:17:08.

semifinals, when they were down 3-1 in the tie-break and Venus and Ram

:17:09.:17:12.

went on a tear. That's the advantage, the advantage

:17:13.:17:32.

of the match tie-break not playing to seven points, but to ten. More

:17:33.:17:37.

time to get back into the match, even with a deficit.

:17:38.:17:57.

Too much on that, to defences. She hasn't been like that through any

:17:58.:18:06.

stage of this game, neither of those two have -- too defensive. Surprised

:18:07.:18:16.

she has tried that shot, Mattek-Sands, she has tried one lob

:18:17.:18:20.

in the match. A clean winner. Williams and Ram at the back of the

:18:21.:18:28.

court. Not now, though. She has been able to find that line

:18:29.:18:54.

throughout the match. Smart play from Ram, he covered it this time

:18:55.:19:00.

and that set up the point, 3-3. Quality tennis to decide the gold

:19:01.:19:04.

medal in the Mixed Doubles here in Rio. He did just enough with the

:19:05.:19:20.

smash, the smash gumball a, Ram. -- smash -cum-volley. Venus Williams

:19:21.:19:25.

looking to do what no one has done in tennis terms, and that is win

:19:26.:19:31.

five gold medals. Five Olympic cold calls -- titles.

:19:32.:19:50.

Not so solid all of a sudden, Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock. This is

:19:51.:19:58.

when the big-time players can come to the fore. She will be

:19:59.:20:02.

disappointed at missing that Borlee, Mattek-Sands, right on top of the

:20:03.:20:07.

net and a pretty decent height for her -- missing that Borlee.

:20:08.:20:20.

They were lucky there, Ram and Williams. He made an early move,

:20:21.:20:29.

Ram, and there was so much space just behind him. The return not

:20:30.:20:34.

clearing the net. They are on a run of points here now. Five in a row.

:20:35.:20:44.

Momentum shifts so quickly. Won the second set 6-1, they raced to a 3-0

:20:45.:20:50.

lead, Mattek-Sands and Sock and now they are on the end of a big Venus

:20:51.:20:52.

Williams serve, you would think. It was steep and set it up. Huge

:20:53.:21:25.

second serve from Williams. She should really be watching this. This

:21:26.:21:29.

is not a time to be sleeping. They are beyond halfway now, Ram and

:21:30.:21:36.

Williams, in the match tie-break. Difficult the Mattek-Sands -- for

:21:37.:21:41.

Mattek-Sands, the net cord. It is not really that your country

:21:42.:21:52.

needs you, your country will win gold either way, your team-mate

:21:53.:22:01.

does. There was plenty on that, look at that. A little bit of a kick up

:22:02.:22:03.

into the body of Venus. Has he got another one in him?

:22:04.:22:17.

UMPIRE: Let, first service. That plan might change now. Tactics are

:22:18.:22:19.

so important. Both teams touch base. She had to hold the fort of there,

:22:20.:22:58.

Mattek-Sands, and she did so after an unfortunate return, it turned

:22:59.:23:02.

into a great return. That was a chance missed for Ram and Williams.

:23:03.:23:08.

Powering forward, Jack Sock. Too much force in the end. Brilliant

:23:09.:23:17.

tennis. We say it a lot, they don't give away gold medals, they'll

:23:18.:23:20.

certainly not giving this one away. You have got to learn it. -- earn

:23:21.:23:25.

it. That can affect the server, a little

:23:26.:23:37.

pause, refresh and recharge. With the second serve, he was a

:23:38.:23:57.

sitting duck, Ram, for Jack Sock. Good point all around. It was a nice

:23:58.:24:03.

pick-up for Ram on a hot boy and he sent it deep. Sock with the top spin

:24:04.:24:11.

lob. 6-6 in the match tie-break. Here it is. Look at it drop.

:24:12.:24:17.

Perfect. Brilliant tennis from all four

:24:18.:24:32.

players on Centre Court. Nine days of tennis comes towards its

:24:33.:24:39.

conclusion. In the Games of the 31st Olympiad.

:24:40.:24:45.

Seemingly come anon of the four can get a first for anywhere near in --

:24:46.:25:01.

non-Opera pressure. -- pressure. You don't like to see that. It has

:25:02.:25:06.

caught the tape. 7-6 and the ball goes up the other end for Ram. A run

:25:07.:25:17.

of.in this tie-break, first three for Mattek-Sands and Sock and the

:25:18.:25:21.

next six for Williams and Ram. Now for in a row for the other team.

:25:22.:25:27.

Grade server and Jack is there to finish it, set up by the

:25:28.:25:33.

Mattek-Sands server. Remember, it is the first to ten. They can nearly

:25:34.:25:40.

touch it. What a great service, taking the ball away from the venous

:25:41.:25:41.

forehand. Magnificent! Venous tried to nail

:25:42.:25:57.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and she was up to the charge and with that comes a

:25:58.:26:06.

gold medal point -- Venus Williams. She is loving this. Suggesting she

:26:07.:26:13.

is a bit fortunate the ball went over the net. Just self defence. She

:26:14.:26:23.

says, what have you got, Venus? Gold medal point, three of them.

:26:24.:26:30.

And that was out. Mattek-Sands throws her racket. They are going to

:26:31.:26:37.

challenge this. They have to challenge this. Yes, they are

:26:38.:26:42.

challenging. The gold medal might be decided by a challenge. There it is

:26:43.:26:48.

and it was long. It was long. More in hope than anything when you see

:26:49.:26:54.

how much it was long by. Mattek-Sands and Sock got so excited

:26:55.:26:58.

and you can't blame them. That plays with your mind, that is for sure.

:26:59.:27:05.

Still two gold medal points. And one will be on the serve of Mattek-Sands

:27:06.:27:08.

if they don't get this one. It is into the net! Socket to them.

:27:09.:27:34.

Proudly sporting the stars and stripes of the country, Jack Sock

:27:35.:27:38.

and Bethanie Mattek-Sands win gold for America. Mixed Doubles gold

:27:39.:27:47.

medal match, an all-American affair. It is gold and silver for the US of

:27:48.:27:53.

A, but what about the performance of Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock?

:27:54.:28:02.

Outstanding tennis. Well, well done to Mattek-Sands and Sock, gold-medal

:28:03.:28:06.

for them. Also a silver medal for America, they are celebrating

:28:07.:28:11.

success at the tennis. A reminder that Andy Murray is in action

:28:12.:28:15.

against Juan Martin Del Potro very shortly, we will be bringing you

:28:16.:28:19.

that action live. It has been a pretty good day for Great Britain so

:28:20.:28:23.

far, so it is time to catch up with what has been some tremendous

:28:24.:28:24.

headlines. There has been history today for Max

:28:25.:28:34.

Whitlock as he became Britain's first gold-medallist in Olympics

:28:35.:28:39.

gymnastics when winning the men's floor competition. Tremendous scenes

:28:40.:28:42.

as Brazil took silver and bronze. You have heard the one about buses?

:28:43.:28:47.

It applies to Olympic gymnasts as well because moments later, Whitlock

:28:48.:28:51.

won a second gold medal, this time on the pommel horse and Louis Smith

:28:52.:28:56.

took silver to add the cherry on top. Meanwhile, American's start

:28:57.:29:05.

gymnast Simone Biles won a third gold medal of the Rio Games. The

:29:06.:29:11.

19-year-old Texan also won gold in the individual and team all around

:29:12.:29:17.

competitions. Justine Rose is the Olympic gold champion after a

:29:18.:29:19.

tremendous tussle with Henrik Stenson. Rose, who has really

:29:20.:29:25.

embraced these Games, celebrated in style. Two time world champion Nick

:29:26.:29:34.

Dempsey, who turned 36 yesterday, became the first male windsurfer to

:29:35.:29:39.

win three Olympic medals after his silver in the final medal race

:29:40.:29:48.

earlier today. So, beautiful scenes here at the Copacabana Beach. Just a

:29:49.:29:53.

reminder once again, Andy Murray against Juan Martin Del Potro in the

:29:54.:29:56.

final of the Men's Singles in the tennis. Andy Murray hoping to defend

:29:57.:30:01.

the title he won in London in 2012. We will bring you that live, they

:30:02.:30:05.

are due on cord shortly. We are turning our attention to boxing and

:30:06.:30:09.

going for Great Britain later tonight is Savannah Marshall in the

:30:10.:30:13.

women's middleweight competition. Here is her story.

:30:14.:30:23.

When I was in school, I think I wanted to be a welder, I wanted to

:30:24.:30:30.

be a nurse, a teacher, everything you could think of apart from a

:30:31.:30:36.

boxer. I first started when I was 12, and it was just with friends,

:30:37.:30:41.

they were going to be boxing gym, and I went along. I was the only

:30:42.:30:45.

girl at the club for a good few years. It didn't bother me, I was

:30:46.:30:49.

comfortable training with all the boys. My mum and dad never said

:30:50.:30:55.

anything, my friends didn't say anything, it was all just accept it.

:30:56.:31:04.

Really. I love it, it is my gym, it is my home. There is no other place.

:31:05.:31:14.

It took me two years to get my first bout, I remember getting really

:31:15.:31:17.

nervous, and I would never tell anyone until a couple of days

:31:18.:31:25.

before, I am boxing in Birmingham in two days! I didn't want them going

:31:26.:31:28.

on about it so I would get more nervous.

:31:29.:31:34.

And she has done it, Savannah Marshall takes the gold. When I won

:31:35.:31:46.

the worlds, I thought, I am all right at this, I am good. The

:31:47.:31:52.

reigning World Championship gold medallist, Great Britain's Savannah

:31:53.:31:55.

Marshall! In the Olympics, ranked number one, favourite to win gold,

:31:56.:32:03.

it was all too much for me. I just remember thinking what the occasion

:32:04.:32:10.

was, everyone was talking about it, I think there was something like

:32:11.:32:14.

20,000 people in the arena, I have never boxed in front of that many

:32:15.:32:19.

people before, everyone had it set in stone that I was going to win

:32:20.:32:24.

gold. I only needed to win one fight to win bronze, and even winning

:32:25.:32:27.

bronze my life would have changed for ever, and that is all I have to

:32:28.:32:34.

do. All Ireland the thinking is, I want to go home, I just want to go

:32:35.:32:40.

home, and I was relieved that I have left it behind. -- all I remember

:32:41.:32:44.

thinking. It took me the best part of two years to get over it. After

:32:45.:32:48.

the Olympics, I wanted to get back into the ring to prove I was good

:32:49.:32:54.

enough. A lot of people have written me off, because I will go missing

:32:55.:33:04.

for a few months through injury. I had three injuries, and I am still

:33:05.:33:12.

here, still number one. One more chance, though, to go out and do it.

:33:13.:33:19.

Yes, Savannah Marshall, nicknamed the silent assassin, taking on Swede

:33:20.:33:24.

Laurell Nash, also a world champion, that comes up in about 45 minutes,

:33:25.:33:29.

and we will bring you that action on BBC Four, but we are looking forward

:33:30.:33:33.

to the Men's Singles tennis final between Andy Murray and Juan Martin

:33:34.:33:38.

del Potro, here is the Wimbledon champion talking to Dan Walker.

:33:39.:33:47.

It is a golden triumph for Andy Murray! For you personally, the

:33:48.:33:53.

Olympics is such an important part of your story, it set you up to

:33:54.:33:57.

achieve so many great things in the sport. And also Beijing was huge for

:33:58.:34:04.

me, I had an amazing experience, my first Olympics, but I learned so

:34:05.:34:07.

much from losing in the first round there. It hurt me a lot, I was

:34:08.:34:13.

gutted that I had to wait four years to get another chance, and I lost in

:34:14.:34:22.

the Wimbledon final in 2012. All right, I am going to try this

:34:23.:34:28.

and it is not going to be easy... I sort of said to myself after that,

:34:29.:34:34.

I may never win a Grand Slam, I have lost in four finals, I was working

:34:35.:34:38.

as hard as I could work, just getting close but never quite

:34:39.:34:42.

enough, so I didn't know if I was ever going to win one. When I

:34:43.:34:48.

accepted that, it helped me, and in terms of the tears after that match,

:34:49.:34:52.

I was very emotional, clearly, but that happens quite a lot, and

:34:53.:34:56.

normally you are doing it in the locker room, it doesn't happen, you

:34:57.:35:01.

know, when you have to speak... You can blame Sue Barker if you like!

:35:02.:35:06.

The Olympics were starting three weeks later, and it would have been

:35:07.:35:10.

easy to be down, but I remembered Beijing, I got back on the practice

:35:11.:35:14.

court, and after the Wimbledon final, I wanted to try and win the

:35:15.:35:18.

event, the biggest sporting competition in the world by far. I

:35:19.:35:22.

had played on Centre Court many times, the crowd that day was

:35:23.:35:27.

totally different, I never expected that, and obviously Roger Federer is

:35:28.:35:30.

extremely popular, and at Wimbledon, you know, the crowd was amazing and

:35:31.:35:36.

gave me a huge lift that day. I don't know if there is anything that

:35:37.:35:40.

could really top that, winning a gold medal at a home Olympics, but

:35:41.:35:45.

getting to carry the flag out for the country here, you know, it is

:35:46.:35:51.

pretty close. What have you made of the Brazilian experience so far? I

:35:52.:35:55.

have enjoyed it, the tennis venue is great, the village is good fun as

:35:56.:35:59.

well, sharing a room with my brother, which I haven't done for

:36:00.:36:05.

about 15 years! Is it bunks?! Two single beds, which is nice, totally

:36:06.:36:10.

different to what we are used to, tennis players are always pretty

:36:11.:36:13.

selfish, doing stuff on our own, whereas here you are part of

:36:14.:36:16.

something much bigger, part of the British team, and it is nice, I

:36:17.:36:22.

enjoy that. We got little bikes outside the thing, we have all been

:36:23.:36:25.

cycling around, racing each other around the village, seeing who can

:36:26.:36:30.

do the best skids and stuff. It is just nice. Some of the big boys are

:36:31.:36:35.

not here, but plenty of big names to keep the tennis fans entertained. It

:36:36.:36:41.

is unfortunate that Roger and Stan were both injured, if those two were

:36:42.:36:47.

here, all of the players who had won Grand Slams in the last ten years

:36:48.:36:51.

would be here. But lots of the top players are give us, I will try my

:36:52.:36:53.

best to have a good run. # Shoulder to shoulder, I know it

:36:54.:37:10.

could be easy, yeah... # What would the world be if we let

:37:11.:37:14.

it be just fine? # What would a smile be if not a

:37:15.:37:20.

tears sometimes? # Sister, sister, I know it could be

:37:21.:37:24.

easy, yeah # Now, keep your head up, talk to me

:37:25.:37:34.

# I know it could be easy, yeah # Brother, brother, I know it could

:37:35.:37:38.

be easy Lewes keep your head up, talk to me, I know it could be

:37:39.:37:40.

easy... # Well, in our studio at Copacabana,

:37:41.:38:22.

although we try to keep it pretty neutral, we have found five people

:38:23.:38:27.

who we cannot quite tell where they are from! James, you are the

:38:28.:38:32.

ringleader of this group, or looking magnificent, did you coordinate your

:38:33.:38:36.

outfits barely on? When did you start this? When we heard it was a

:38:37.:38:41.

Winter Olympics sorry, winter at the Olympics, we thought the 3-piece

:38:42.:38:46.

suit would come down quite well. The weather has not disappointed, we are

:38:47.:38:51.

freezing! Are you all from different parts of the UK? We all live in

:38:52.:38:57.

London currently. I am from Manchester. What have you seen so

:38:58.:39:05.

far? A lot! Hockey, volleyball, beach volleyball, Super Saturday,

:39:06.:39:09.

table tennis... Super Saturday was pretty super, one of you have got a

:39:10.:39:18.

selfie with Mo last night? Can I just ask how you said, Mo, can you

:39:19.:39:25.

come here? His daughter was pretty keen for us do have a photo, so she

:39:26.:39:32.

took the photo with us. His selfie taking skills are not quite as good!

:39:33.:39:37.

This was his daughter. Going in tight, Mo Farah has had a selfie

:39:38.:39:42.

with you guys, more than the other way around. There we are. That is

:39:43.:39:48.

tremendous. So that has got to be the highlight so far, right? Half of

:39:49.:39:54.

us only landed yesterday, we got here for the rowing and then Super

:39:55.:40:00.

Saturday, it was pretty intense. How long have you been here? A week and

:40:01.:40:06.

a half, it has been amazing, seen some amazing sport. One question

:40:07.:40:11.

about the outfits, lovely jackets, and you have got something and

:40:12.:40:16.

unease. I do not know how to ask this, can I touch it? That is

:40:17.:40:26.

tremendous! I have to say, that is the nicest... I wish I had a T-shirt

:40:27.:40:30.

on right now! That is tremendous, great outfit. I must say, are you

:40:31.:40:37.

going to the athletics tonight? Hundred metres tonight, the other

:40:38.:40:40.

British hopes, Murray is playing right now, that is where we are off

:40:41.:40:49.

to next. Sorry to keep you! Have you enjoyed the experience of Rio, just

:40:50.:40:54.

aside from the Olympics? Absolutely incredible. Such an amazing

:40:55.:40:58.

atmosphere, I had heard the locals were not getting into it, but we

:40:59.:41:02.

have been received incredibly well, wonderful time. It is great to meet

:41:03.:41:07.

you, enjoy tonight, you are getting the gold medal for outfits, no doubt

:41:08.:41:14.

about it, well done! That is it from the guys evolves, enjoy the rest of

:41:15.:41:17.

your Olympics. Well done on your marathon efforts, ten days already,

:41:18.:41:24.

that is wonderful. We are going to head over to the Olympic Tennis

:41:25.:41:28.

Centre a little bit later, Andy Murray against Juan Martin del Potro

:41:29.:41:33.

is coming up in a second. But just before that, this is the medal

:41:34.:41:37.

ceremony for the mixed doubles, Venus Williams once again out of

:41:38.:41:42.

luck, she was looking for a fifth Olympic gold medal, but she has won

:41:43.:41:47.

the silver medal, alongside Rajeev Ram. An all-American final, of

:41:48.:41:53.

course, and the winner was Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock, they

:41:54.:41:55.

were the ones who came away victorious. This medal ceremony has

:41:56.:42:01.

just delayed Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro coming on court, so

:42:02.:42:08.

in the meantime, let's have a little visit with the former Olympian

:42:09.:42:13.

Darren Campbell do some of the favelas around Rio.

:42:14.:42:28.

Today I have come to a safe are in a further level. Welcome, this is 11

:42:29.:42:39.

different communities, and this one here, the kids that we work with,

:42:40.:42:46.

they are facing poverty, family breakdown, no job opportunities, so

:42:47.:42:49.

it is a very poor part of town and one of the most dangerous. This is

:42:50.:42:54.

an area that is pacified, which means there are police here, but

:42:55.:42:57.

they fight with the local drug traffickers. This is it, this is it,

:42:58.:43:06.

because you are on the hill, you can hear the gunfire. It is amazing,

:43:07.:43:12.

they can be playing when there is automatic gunfire. We needed a place

:43:13.:43:17.

where the police and the traffickers agreed not to fight, so we created

:43:18.:43:21.

this safe space for the kids to come and play football. So this is one of

:43:22.:43:30.

our coaches in the safe space programme. Have you seen a real

:43:31.:43:36.

change in the people who come here? They are more happy, they are not on

:43:37.:43:41.

the streets doing fights or something like that. The reality is

:43:42.:43:45.

that these are the brothers and sisters of the traffickers, the

:43:46.:43:48.

traffickers grow up in the community, so working with them is

:43:49.:43:53.

really important so that age 1314 they are not trafficking drugs, not

:43:54.:43:57.

picking up a gun. This is a special guest, his name is Darren Campbell.

:43:58.:44:06.

People told me that kids like me do not win Olympic gold medals, so for

:44:07.:44:15.

me to win the gold medal, yeah, it proved a lot of people wrong, and

:44:16.:44:17.

that is why I believe in these guys. Widely you enjoy coming here? -- why

:44:18.:44:35.

do you. TRANSLATION: It is a safe place to

:44:36.:44:40.

play, and it is near my house, and I can go home really quickly. Do you

:44:41.:44:48.

feel safe when you are here? How do these guys feel about the Olympics

:44:49.:44:52.

being just a there? TRANSLATION: I don't like the

:44:53.:44:58.

Olympics very much, because we are in the middle of a crisis, but I

:44:59.:45:01.

support the athletes because it is their dream. The judo player was

:45:02.:45:10.

happy, not just because she won, but because someone from the Cabella can

:45:11.:45:14.

represent Brazil. It is about the inspiration of sport

:45:15.:45:19.

for these kids, it gives them a goal, it gives them a dream.

:45:20.:45:25.

Sport really does have the power to change lives. You can see how this

:45:26.:45:32.

safe area does give kids the opportunity to feel part of

:45:33.:45:36.

something, respect something, -- expect something and feel the value

:45:37.:45:40.

that sports gives. For me, that is what Olympic legacy should be all

:45:41.:45:43.

about. It is fascinating learning something

:45:44.:45:47.

about life outside the main areas here in Rio, so I enjoy that from

:45:48.:45:52.

Darren Campbell. Earlier today, we saw Justine Rose add another gold

:45:53.:45:56.

medal to Great Britain's all. This was the winning pot on 18. It was

:45:57.:46:02.

all level between he and Henrik Stenson going down the 18th --

:46:03.:46:07.

winning pot. Henrik Stenson didn't play as well at 18 as many thought

:46:08.:46:13.

he would but Justine Rose's Berdych proved enough to give him the final.

:46:14.:46:19.

It was a tremendous tussle on the day, they shared the lead, Henrik

:46:20.:46:23.

Stenson took it briefly but in the end, on 18, it was Justin Rose that

:46:24.:46:28.

came away with a victory. Henrik Stenson takes the medal from

:46:29.:46:37.

Stenson. Matt Kuchar with the bronze on 13-under. Afterwards, Justin Rose

:46:38.:46:42.

spoke to Kat Downes. Justine, congratulations, you are

:46:43.:46:46.

the Olympic champion. Before these Games, some people said gold had no

:46:47.:46:50.

place at the Olympics. You are wearing the gold-medal now. Tell

:46:51.:46:54.

them they are wrong, tell them how it feels. They are absolutely wrong.

:46:55.:47:00.

Every single player that came to Rio will admit they had the most amazing

:47:01.:47:06.

week, potentially, of golfing lives. The competition has been first

:47:07.:47:09.

class, going up against Henrik Stenson, probably the best player in

:47:10.:47:14.

the world right now, was obviously a huge challenge and that is what the

:47:15.:47:17.

Olympics is about, the best of the best bringing their best on the day.

:47:18.:47:24.

It proved to be a great final round. The medal ceremony was a surreal

:47:25.:47:28.

experience, something I have seen and witnessed many times in other

:47:29.:47:33.

sports but to see Matt and Henrik Stenson, two good friends of mine,

:47:34.:47:37.

up there, it was something to behold. It must have been something

:47:38.:47:42.

new to you guys, don't tend get to belt the national anthem out. All I

:47:43.:47:48.

could hear was myself, normally you are in a stadium with 80,000 people.

:47:49.:47:53.

So I realised how bad my voice was. I muddled through the words but got

:47:54.:47:57.

most of them right. Do you think golf has answered its critics

:47:58.:48:01.

because of the showcase you and Henrik put on, all the way around,

:48:02.:48:05.

neck and neck, tied for the lead then the last. What a great

:48:06.:48:10.

showcase. From my point of view, it is something I focused on and was

:48:11.:48:13.

hungry for an something I wanted to peak for. It has been at the

:48:14.:48:17.

forefront of my mind for the last few months, building in here.

:48:18.:48:21.

Absolutely, I think golf... Hopefully it was an exciting vision

:48:22.:48:25.

people can really get into it. I believe it was a great showcase for

:48:26.:48:31.

golf for the first time in the Olympics for 112 years. Holding your

:48:32.:48:37.

nerve for that last pitch and pot, congratulations, Olympic champion.

:48:38.:48:40.

Thank you, the mind is scrambled, I am just taking it all in. Henrik,

:48:41.:48:48.

commiserations, it came right down to the last pitch and putt.

:48:49.:48:52.

Absolutely, it always felt like it would be a battle on the last nine

:48:53.:48:57.

and I thought it would be Justine and myself battling out for gold and

:48:58.:49:01.

silver. We were a couple of shots ahead of Matt, who had a fantastic

:49:02.:49:09.

round. Justine had a good pitch from a good angle and I didn't hit my

:49:10.:49:13.

best from a slightly more difficult angle, so well done to Justin Rose,

:49:14.:49:18.

I am happy for him to win it and I can't be too disappointed with

:49:19.:49:22.

leaving with a silver medal. As Justin Rose said, he out Stensoned

:49:23.:49:32.

Stenson. Yes, there were a couple of moments. He got up and down at 14,

:49:33.:49:40.

made a birdie on the next one, it was back and forth for a couple of

:49:41.:49:43.

holes and came down to the last hole, so no regrets. I know you are

:49:44.:49:49.

great friends, so nice to share the podium with a great friend, if you

:49:50.:49:54.

had to be beaten by anyone. I think we can kiss and make up in about a

:49:55.:49:58.

month's time in the Ryder Cup. It could be a good combo to have gold

:49:59.:50:04.

and silver teeing it up again. Congratulations. Matt,

:50:05.:50:07.

congratulations, bronze in the end. What a round from you, you started

:50:08.:50:12.

the day 5-under, out of contention people said, and you stand here with

:50:13.:50:17.

a bronze medal. I knew it would take an amazing man and I wish every time

:50:18.:50:21.

I wanted an amazing round, I could do that but everything came through

:50:22.:50:26.

and it was meant to be. -- take an amazing round. I got a birdie on the

:50:27.:50:32.

front, set up the front side, an eagle on the tenth hole and thought,

:50:33.:50:36.

can I go for more than bronze? But to be an outside shot and get a

:50:37.:50:41.

medal, I can't begin to explain how excited I am and how much pride

:50:42.:50:44.

ideal and a third-place finish is just amazing. Congratulations, thank

:50:45.:50:52.

you for stopping to chat to us. A reminder that the men's Omni and

:50:53.:50:58.

is currently taking place on BBC One, -- Omnium. The men's sprint

:50:59.:51:03.

final still to come, Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner in the best of three

:51:04.:51:08.

finals. But we are heading to Centre Court at the Olympic tennis Centre,

:51:09.:51:12.

where Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro have just arrived. Andy

:51:13.:51:17.

Murray won the gold medal in London in 2012, Del Potro, who has huge

:51:18.:51:22.

support here, the Argentinian fans have been fantastic at all the

:51:23.:51:26.

Olympic venues and of course, Del Potro won bronze in London. Here

:51:27.:51:31.

comes Andy Murray trying to defend the title he won four years ago and

:51:32.:51:35.

add to the Wimbledon title he won earlier in the summer. Let's join

:51:36.:51:40.

our commentators at the Olympic tennis Centre, Simon Reed and Paul.

:51:41.:51:46.

Thank you very much. So, here we go. A few more Brits in today but a

:51:47.:51:52.

whole load from Argentina. The one hope to neutralise the noise

:51:53.:52:07.

as far as the Brits are concerned is that the Brazilians will naturally

:52:08.:52:10.

not favour the Argentine and so they will take Andy Murray to their

:52:11.:52:18.

hearts. That is the hope. Well, it couldn't have been more different

:52:19.:52:24.

yesterday. Murray breezing through against K Nishikora. But Juan Martin

:52:25.:52:31.

Del Potro having to go three hours and a quarter against Rafael Nadal,

:52:32.:52:38.

right up against the brink, he was, broken back. It looks like it would

:52:39.:52:43.

be Rafa's match, it wasn't to be, but he clawed it out. So here we

:52:44.:52:50.

are, Murray is a match away from doubling up with gold medals.

:52:51.:52:56.

Exciting atmosphere. Absolutely, looking forward to this one. It

:52:57.:53:00.

really is a cauldron, cavernous stadium and I would say it is about

:53:01.:53:06.

half full at the moment. The upper tier is starting to fill up and the

:53:07.:53:11.

atmosphere is bubbling up nicely. Really quite something for these two

:53:12.:53:12.

athletes. We have already had two gold-medal

:53:13.:53:27.

matches. The Mixed Doubles, Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock be eating

:53:28.:53:34.

RAM and Williams. And the women's doubles. -- beating Ram and

:53:35.:53:43.

Williams. The atmosphere is nothing like this, though. Pascal Marier is

:53:44.:53:51.

a man in charge and he will have a lot of work to do, like James

:53:52.:53:53.

Keothavong did yesterday. You probably picked it up better

:53:54.:54:09.

than I did, because the noise is so great around us but it sounded like

:54:10.:54:13.

Del Potro won the toss of the coin and he has elected to receive. I

:54:14.:54:19.

think so and Andy is happy that end. Yes, it is very volume us out here,

:54:20.:54:23.

there is a nervous, palpable anticipation of this one.

:54:24.:54:30.

Head-to-head between the two of them is 5-2 in Murray's favour. There is

:54:31.:54:37.

the run-through from Del Potro. The big one in the first round, knocking

:54:38.:54:41.

out a Novak Djokovic, the world number one, by a country mile. Then

:54:42.:54:47.

jazz Sousa of Portugal. Ben Daniel of Japan. Roberto Bautista Agut, he

:54:48.:55:00.

won that in two sets. Then Rafa. Andy Murray has been comfortable,

:55:01.:55:05.

beating Viktor Troicki, Monaco and then a very difficult match against

:55:06.:55:08.

Fabio Fognini, then coming through 6-3 in the third and then Steve

:55:09.:55:14.

Johnson. Johnson was 4-3 up at one point and had a break. Murray broke

:55:15.:55:20.

back and clawed it out, 7-6 in the third, and then the match against

:55:21.:55:27.

Nishikori was pretty comfortable. Yes, he was 3-0 down in the third to

:55:28.:55:34.

Fabio Fognini and pulled that one out up the bag. The sun is setting

:55:35.:55:37.

on what has been a gorgeous day here in Rio. This man has arguably one of

:55:38.:55:44.

the most devastating ground shots in tennis. He is feared throughout the

:55:45.:55:49.

world. The forehand is absolutely thunderous. It could be pivotal

:55:50.:55:55.

today against Andy Murray. He cocks that racket head up really high and

:55:56.:55:59.

as it descends, it is just a mighty third. 24 hours ago, he was in

:56:00.:56:08.

tears. He was a wreck after beating Nadal. Has he recovered. Murray

:56:09.:56:14.

would have watched his reaction and thought, that is very interesting.

:56:15.:56:17.

Or you have done is get to the final. I know it was big for you,

:56:18.:56:22.

but it was a heck of a reaction from Del Potro. He even went into the

:56:23.:56:28.

first tier of the crowd and started hugging them, which is nice to see

:56:29.:56:32.

but of course, it is all draining and Andy Murray will be savouring

:56:33.:56:39.

all of that and holding his nerve back as a consequence. Frenchman in

:56:40.:56:47.

charge. Argentines wherever you look around the stadium. I would say it

:56:48.:56:55.

is a bit more than half full now. People spilling into the upper tier

:56:56.:57:00.

pretty fast now. This is certainly the blue ticket event and everybody

:57:01.:57:05.

very excited. There is a real per around here of energy. Can't wait

:57:06.:57:11.

for this one to unfold. And the semifinal, the Nadal Del Potro

:57:12.:57:14.

semifinal, thrill a minute, that was.

:57:15.:57:21.

I know a lot of you watching our tennis buffs may not know the Del

:57:22.:57:34.

Potro story. At the age of 20, he won the U.S. Open, destroying Roger

:57:35.:57:38.

Federer and shortly afterwards, he had a wrist problem, had surgery on

:57:39.:57:42.

the right wrist. It was a massive comeback he had to endure. And then

:57:43.:57:48.

it got to 2015 and when it looks like he was coming back, the other

:57:49.:57:53.

wrist, the left wrist, would you believe, which he uses for the

:57:54.:57:56.

double hander, that went, and he had three surgeries and at one stage, it

:57:57.:58:02.

looked like he was never going to play again. He said he couldn't even

:58:03.:58:07.

watch tennis because he got so depressed watching other guys. But

:58:08.:58:11.

with the help of his doctor, they have worked out a schedule. He

:58:12.:58:16.

hasn't had to change his technique. Even though he is ranked 141, at

:58:17.:58:25.

take notice -- take no notice of that, this is a top-10 player in

:58:26.:58:28.

every sense of the world and Murray will treated just like that. It was

:58:29.:58:37.

only 2010 when he was ranked fourth in the world. He brings such

:58:38.:58:42.

presence, so statuesque at six foot six, and when he gets to that

:58:43.:58:45.

forehand, he is joined on this. And it will have to have a good game

:58:46.:58:51.

plan prepared to combat that. Andy has come into this in a very

:58:52.:58:56.

positive frame of mind. Whenever he has been asked about defending the

:58:57.:59:01.

title, he says he doesn't see it that way. No one is going to take

:59:02.:59:05.

that gold medal he won in London away from him. He just sees this as

:59:06.:59:10.

doubling up, another huge achievement but he doesn't see it as

:59:11.:59:13.

defending anything and that is exactly the right attitude to come

:59:14.:59:18.

into this match with. He wants to go out there as hunting rather than

:59:19.:59:22.

hunted and he has nothing to defend, no one is going to strip him of the

:59:23.:59:26.

gold medal, he has to build and win a second, which would be historic if

:59:27.:59:32.

he could. Del Potro has been sparing in his tournaments, very careful. He

:59:33.:59:36.

went to Australia hoping to play, had some practice and it wasn't

:59:37.:59:40.

feeling right, so he pulled out of Australia. He didn't start back in

:59:41.:59:46.

February, having spent the best part of a year out of tennis. Since then,

:59:47.:59:52.

it has been step-by-step. Semifinal in Stuttgart, where he lost a

:59:53.:59:57.

Kohlschreiber. Third round in Wimbledon, but he beat Stan Wawrinka

:59:58.:00:01.

in the second round. That showed as he was getting ready for the top

:00:02.:00:05.

flight again and he has shown that again here in Rio. Murray's form,

:00:06.:00:14.

well it has been a little bit staccato. Terrific yesterday,

:00:15.:00:18.

terrific in the first two rounds. Against Fognini and Johnson, it

:00:19.:00:21.

wavered here and there but when he was under pressure, he has found

:00:22.:00:26.

what was needed. He has dug deep when he has needed to cover showing

:00:27.:00:29.

a lot of character and because of all the hard yards he has run

:00:30.:00:33.

throughout this, his body is home, he knows that and it gives him a lot

:00:34.:00:36.

of self trust as a consequence. I think the question on everybody's

:00:37.:00:54.

lips, can Del Potro pull off a third big surprise? You took out Djokovic

:00:55.:00:58.

in the opening round, a tearful farewell for him as he left the

:00:59.:01:03.

court, and then Nadal yesterday, did it again. What is it about tennis

:01:04.:01:09.

players and tears? They seem to flow readily in the last few years. It is

:01:10.:01:15.

the modern man, that is what it is, we are all in touch with our

:01:16.:01:20.

emotions, we are allowed to let go every now and then. I speak as if I

:01:21.:01:24.

am in their company! But this is a real privilege, this

:01:25.:01:29.

afternoon-evening, this just about to get under way. It is starting an

:01:30.:01:33.

hour and a half later than scheduled because the ceremonies took longer

:01:34.:01:36.

than people thought, matches were not short. What is the result of

:01:37.:01:41.

that? The temperature is still pretty high, around 26, it has been

:01:42.:01:47.

up towards 30, there is no sun on the court now, humid, around 52%

:01:48.:01:53.

humidity, and a light breeze. But pretty good conditions now. Yeah,

:01:54.:01:58.

idyllic playing conditions, not much breeze, which will not be

:01:59.:02:03.

interfering with the Bulthuis. Best of five sets in the final, best of

:02:04.:02:09.

five tie-break sets, and that may work in Murray's favour, bearing in

:02:10.:02:14.

mind what happened yesterday to Del Potro. But it is Andy Murray of

:02:15.:02:15.

Great Britain to begin. The continuing problem of spectators

:02:16.:02:40.

moving and taking their seats as players are about to serve. It won't

:02:41.:02:44.

go away, that is for sure. If there is considerable residue

:02:45.:03:52.

from what happened yesterday, I guess we can pick it up at the start

:03:53.:03:57.

and towards the end of the match. Is Del Potro going to take a little

:03:58.:03:59.

while to get going here? Well, imperative for both players to

:04:00.:04:42.

get a good start at an event of such huge magnitude. It is about holding

:04:43.:04:44.

serve first to settle down. It is the immediate response from

:04:45.:05:21.

Murray when he plays a poor shot these days, towel, to slow things

:05:22.:05:26.

down. And that was a strange choice, given that the match is so young, I

:05:27.:05:30.

thought he would have wanted to bludgeon the ball to settle into the

:05:31.:05:31.

match a little more. Well, you could see a real

:05:32.:05:58.

deliberation in the footwork there behind the ball from Andy Murray,

:05:59.:06:04.

just wanting to ensure that... The crowd starting already. Yes, the odd

:06:05.:06:14.

chant from the Argentines just food down by the Brazilians. -- booed. No

:06:15.:06:21.

love lost between the two nations! Listen to that roar. It seems a lot

:06:22.:06:51.

have come here to sit apart rollovers! But we will take that. --

:06:52.:07:02.

to see Del Potro lose. Now it is the Argentines. Well, there is a lot of

:07:03.:07:10.

Argentine flags all around the upper pressure Lens of this wonderful

:07:11.:07:20.

court here. -- echelons. It is probably about three quarters full.

:07:21.:07:22.

People coming in all the time. So it is the 27-year-old, they

:07:23.:07:41.

called him the Tower of Tandil, and you can understand why, especially

:07:42.:07:44.

if you happen to be receiving his serve.

:07:45.:08:02.

Another key element, of course, will be how much can Andy Murray

:08:03.:08:10.

nullified the Del Potro serve, a cornerstone of his game, that and

:08:11.:08:18.

the big forehand. It is imperative that he gets a good number of first

:08:19.:08:22.

serves in so he can be on the front foot in the rally.

:08:23.:08:58.

So an opening straightaway. Our commentary position is to the right,

:08:59.:09:07.

we are right behind the bird's nest at the stop with our view of the

:09:08.:09:10.

stadium. Well, we have been saying all week

:09:11.:09:38.

out hard it is to hit through this abrasive hard court, it can play

:09:39.:09:43.

slowly, but Del Potro does have the weight of shot to crush the blue,

:09:44.:09:47.

and he does have very flat trajectory. He plays with fine

:09:48.:09:49.

margins, this big man. Well, that has taken a bit out of

:09:50.:10:51.

him, a little sickly smile, but it is interesting there not just that

:10:52.:10:55.

Del Potro won the rally, because normally Murray would win rallies of

:10:56.:11:01.

that length, but he was moving fine. Anyone who can get past Rafael Nadal

:11:02.:11:07.

on a slow hard court is moving well, he is very efficient for a big man.

:11:08.:11:15.

But Murray will be happy if rallies of that length continue. UMPIRE:

:11:16.:11:27.

Let, first service. And it is an interesting talking

:11:28.:11:31.

point, because Murray would often wait too long in the point, and that

:11:32.:11:35.

could be problematic against a player like Del Potro. He likes the

:11:36.:11:41.

rally to be longer, but perhaps not too long, because he can become a

:11:42.:11:43.

little passive sometimes. Yeah, a shot that has become

:11:44.:12:23.

Murray's trademark, that backhand crosscourt, it was Leon Smith, the

:12:24.:12:28.

head of men's tennis, just loving that. The change of pace, the long,

:12:29.:12:35.

slow slice, then the vicious acceleration, just stamping on the

:12:36.:12:41.

volley to get it away. So break point in Del Potro's opening service

:12:42.:12:43.

game. There is that forehand, what a way

:12:44.:13:14.

to respond! So positive. You can see why, even though he is an enormous

:13:15.:13:17.

man, why he has had problems with his wrist. These days, the problems

:13:18.:13:23.

are happening more with the left wrist, the double hander. Initially,

:13:24.:13:29.

six years ago, when he had a year out, it was the right wrist. Boy,

:13:30.:13:31.

does he put some force through it! Yes, he has got a terrific

:13:32.:13:45.

multi-segmented forehand, so many facets that he uses, the shoulder,

:13:46.:13:50.

the elbow, the hips, the knees, or firing at the same time, and loading

:13:51.:13:55.

into that small muscle group at the end, the wrist, a bit like a coiled

:13:56.:14:00.

up towel. When I flick you out of the shower!

:14:01.:14:35.

Just to put viewers at rest, that hasn't happened!

:14:36.:14:46.

Murray constantly looking up at his physio alongside Leon. Just that

:14:47.:15:02.

early reassurance that he seeks from his camp, still settling, these two.

:15:03.:15:31.

Floodlights on now and it will be increasingly important. It gets dark

:15:32.:15:43.

quite quickly here. Another half an hour and it will be virtually

:15:44.:15:44.

night-time. Well, it is such a big, big heavy

:15:45.:16:00.

shot, that one, but it can go astray and if the concentration is off at

:16:01.:16:06.

all, that is what you see. Murray planning on teasing out those kind

:16:07.:16:09.

of errors from the Del Potro forehand.

:16:10.:16:21.

His fastest serve so far, 203. But the first ace of the match and two

:16:22.:16:41.

ace Andy Murray, it has to be special.

:16:42.:16:56.

But he can't finish this game off. Whenever you watch the Argentine

:16:57.:17:03.

play, the match is usually on his terms and he has the sort of game

:17:04.:17:08.

that can wrench the match away from several opponents, even top-10

:17:09.:17:13.

players. We have seen that a lot in the past. But perhaps nerves

:17:14.:17:16.

jangling a little. He hasn't quite entirely settled.

:17:17.:17:56.

Clever play from Andy Murray, using the slicer to keep the ball low to

:17:57.:18:08.

the tall man. So another chance for the break.

:18:09.:18:59.

Murray doesn't need the lesson, but he has to be sure when he goes to

:19:00.:19:08.

the Del Potro forehand that he has got some defence, because it wasn't

:19:09.:19:14.

that short and Del Potro was in. He was doing anything about quarter

:19:15.:19:19.

length on that side, Del Potro. The Argentinians really getting behind

:19:20.:19:20.

him now. Murray standing around seven metres

:19:21.:19:53.

behind the baseline to receive this, but he moves forward as Del Potro

:19:54.:19:54.

serves. No. Del Potro can't finish this game

:19:55.:20:17.

off. Very clever little half volley, it was a tricky shot as he came

:20:18.:20:22.

forward on the forehand. You have to commend his positivity, Andy Murray

:20:23.:20:25.

coming forward a lot already in this match, asking a number of questions

:20:26.:20:27.

of the Argentine. By both players fully aware that if

:20:28.:21:07.

Murray could get the early break here, it could set the precedent for

:21:08.:21:08.

this opening set. Del Potro has to avoid rallies of

:21:09.:21:33.

that length and more because even though he started out well, that is

:21:34.:21:38.

not going to work for him. Absolutely and he was getting

:21:39.:21:41.

tangled up, he wasn't fully committed, the way he moved around

:21:42.:21:44.

his own backhand. He steered that to the double hand of Murray. So third

:21:45.:21:48.

time lucky for Murray? Forward he comes again and this time

:21:49.:22:31.

he does get the break. And he is four from four in net assaults, very

:22:32.:22:40.

proactive up there, very proactive game from the British number one.

:22:41.:22:44.

Watches this ball so closely, leaving nothing to chance. Secures

:22:45.:22:50.

it with the legs, good use of the other half for balance. Head still.

:22:51.:22:58.

It is a massive blow early on for the Argentine.

:22:59.:23:41.

Yes. Murray did well to get it back but didn't exactly put Del Potro

:23:42.:23:49.

off. There is a guy just sauntering along

:23:50.:24:20.

behind the camera man just to the right of Murray.

:24:21.:24:35.

Murray was distracted by it. He carried on. I am not sure he is not

:24:36.:24:44.

one of the security guys. But halfway through that point, he

:24:45.:24:49.

started walking around again. He should know better, really. One of

:24:50.:24:56.

the line judges has gone over to him to tell him to keep still.

:24:57.:25:13.

He got lucky there, it was a fine volley at the end. Off the left, it

:25:14.:25:22.

could have gone anywhere. It was a world-class quality because he was

:25:23.:25:25.

under the pressure of the scoreboard and to make that off volley at that

:25:26.:25:30.

stage, highly skilled from Andy Murray. Far easier to volley back

:25:31.:25:34.

where the ball has come from. Terrific control of the racket head,

:25:35.:25:41.

but it is a plan to get forward as much as he can. As much as he feels

:25:42.:25:44.

comfortable with, maybe a little more.

:25:45.:26:08.

Just out. And here is a chance for an immediate break back for the

:26:09.:26:16.

Argentine. Terrific from Murray. Absolutely

:26:17.:27:25.

brilliant from Andy Murray, targeting most of his traffic to the

:27:26.:27:30.

backhand of Del Potro for obvious reasons but didn't he defend that

:27:31.:27:36.

lob well? That was right on his own baseline. Del Potro disgusted with

:27:37.:27:43.

himself are not making that. Second break point.

:27:44.:28:22.

Well, you have to take your hat off to Del Potro. After all that

:28:23.:28:30.

happened yesterday and the iffy start he has made, that was some

:28:31.:28:32.

character and it is now 1-2. Three Games so far, two breaks of

:28:33.:28:43.

serve, Andy Murray leading Juan Martin Del Potro 2-1 in the first

:28:44.:28:49.

set of the gold medal match. Well, the Sun has set here at the

:28:50.:28:53.

Copacabana beach so it is time to bring you up-to-date with the

:28:54.:28:56.

headlines on what has been a tremendous day for Great Britain.

:28:57.:29:03.

History today for Max Whitlock as he became Britain's first

:29:04.:29:06.

gold-medallist in Olympic gymnastics when winning the men's floor

:29:07.:29:11.

competition. Amazing scenes as Brazil took silver and bronze.

:29:12.:29:18.

You have heard the one about buses? Well, moments later, Whitlock won a

:29:19.:29:24.

second gold medal on the pommel horse and Louis Smith took the

:29:25.:29:29.

silver to add the cherry on top. Meanwhile, America's stap gymnast

:29:30.:29:34.

Simone Biles won a third gold medal of the Rio Games. A 19-year-old

:29:35.:29:37.

Texan also won gold in the individual and team all around

:29:38.:29:42.

competitions -- the 19-year-old. Justine Rose is the Olympic golf

:29:43.:29:48.

champion after a tremendous tussle with Henrik Stenson. Rose has really

:29:49.:29:51.

embraced these Games and celebrated in style.

:29:52.:29:59.

And over on BBC One at the moment, the final of the men's sprint

:30:00.:30:03.

between Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner. It will be taking place in

:30:04.:30:08.

the next half an hour. Jason Kenny took the first of the best of three

:30:09.:30:12.

final. Here on BBC Four, we are sticking with the tennis and the

:30:13.:30:15.

gold medal match between Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro. Let's

:30:16.:30:17.

rejoin Simon and Paul. I hope you are ready for a long

:30:18.:30:30.

evening, three games, we have been going for 27 minutes, so much has

:30:31.:30:31.

happened. Murray guessed he was getting to the

:30:32.:30:50.

ball, and he was almost there as Del Potro made his shot. They have

:30:51.:30:55.

obviously done their homework, the team and coaches, studied footage of

:30:56.:31:00.

where Del Potro likes to go, Murray guessing dead right.

:31:01.:31:17.

Terrific shot. What a response this is from Murray, so often at his best

:31:18.:31:35.

when he has been wounded. Service weight of Del Potro has gone

:31:36.:31:41.

ratcheting up. But still he is staring at 0-30.

:31:42.:31:51.

He tried to lay the hammer down just a bit too strong there. Murray has

:31:52.:31:58.

three chances to break Del Potro for the second time.

:31:59.:32:40.

And he did it with ease. An immediate backlash from Andy Murray,

:32:41.:32:51.

real credit to him, showing the mental fortitude there.

:32:52.:32:57.

He has had 17 successive wins going into this match. It is a difficult

:32:58.:33:06.

habit to break, especially when you are as good a player as he is.

:33:07.:33:41.

That was just too good a shot from Murray, he knew Del Potro was coming

:33:42.:33:50.

forward. There was an urgency of the footwork from Murray, and didn't he

:33:51.:33:55.

do well to get the ball to the big man's toes, always awkward when you

:33:56.:33:56.

are six foot six. Yeah, measured it to perfection. He

:33:57.:34:23.

has lifted his game to just about the highest level it can be, but it

:34:24.:34:28.

looks at the moment too good a level four Del Potro. Yeah, this was just

:34:29.:34:36.

perfectly weighted and angled, and it had to be, Del Potro closing down

:34:37.:34:38.

the angle - to no avail, in the end. He wasn't sure about the shot at the

:34:39.:34:58.

baseline, not sure he gave it 100% in his reply, and Murray just popped

:34:59.:35:03.

it up, and now he has got three points for 4-1.

:35:04.:35:41.

So 4-1, and after a tricky start, suddenly, it is looking a little

:35:42.:35:51.

one-sided, but Del Potro has to hold here, otherwise this set is gone. A

:35:52.:35:56.

very strong couple of games from Andy Murray, really making a

:35:57.:36:00.

statement of intent, a huge backlash, having relinquished on his

:36:01.:36:05.

own serve a few games ago. He is back with a vengeance now, now

:36:06.:36:09.

looking very good, very focused, intense with the footwork, good

:36:10.:36:18.

energy from Britain's finest. We understand that Murray has booked a

:36:19.:36:22.

jet tonight, he is sharing it with Rafa Nadal, making their way home.

:36:23.:36:28.

Nadal is probably very fatigued after yesterday, when he put so much

:36:29.:36:33.

in and didn't get any reward when he lost to Kei Nishikori in the bronze

:36:34.:36:38.

medal match, Nishikori winning in straight sets. Could be mixed

:36:39.:36:42.

emotions on that flight if Murray has his way here. Rafa Nadal has

:36:43.:36:48.

played something like 12 matches, he won the doubles with Marc Lopez, his

:36:49.:36:54.

dear friend, gold medal there. So he has come away with something, quite

:36:55.:36:58.

remarkable for Rafa Nadal, having had such a long time and since the

:36:59.:37:02.

French Open, to be competing at this level, absolutely commendable. So

:37:03.:37:09.

what now for Del Potro? He has got to come up with something.

:37:10.:38:02.

Well, he is landing 60% of first serves in, but only winning 50% of

:38:03.:38:08.

them due to the terrific returning skills of Murray.

:38:09.:38:25.

Enterprising play from Del Potro. Yes, Murray has always been regarded

:38:26.:38:32.

as the second-best return in the game, some would say in the history

:38:33.:38:36.

of the game behind Djokovic. I am not sure he is number two anymore.

:38:37.:38:42.

No! Interesting to see the court position of Andy Murray, well back

:38:43.:38:58.

from behind the Rio sign. Doesn't want to give too much time to Del

:38:59.:39:02.

Potro, we know what he is like when he has too much time, he winds up

:39:03.:39:04.

that forehand and wounds you. Well played. Every point, even the

:39:05.:39:54.

40-0 point, given total intensity. How often do you see a player lapse

:39:55.:40:00.

when they are 40-0 up? But Andy was preying on that right now, spreading

:40:01.:40:04.

the court really well to the Del Potro forehand there.

:40:05.:40:41.

Well, he kills you so beautifully, doesn't he? Death by a thousand

:40:42.:40:49.

cuts, isn't it? Just teasing, Del Potro thought for a second that he

:40:50.:40:52.

could, he went, but too late, though.

:40:53.:40:58.

190 km/h out wide, ace number two, but still Murray by a break. There

:40:59.:41:31.

is no doubting his bone-crushing power, but there has been a few

:41:32.:41:35.

grimaces from Del Potro, almost as if he is a little fatigued after the

:41:36.:41:41.

endeavours against Nadal yesterday. But the support will no doubt buoy

:41:42.:41:44.

him. Murray off the mark Wood aces now.

:41:45.:42:05.

-- with. Well, if it was over, it was a

:42:06.:42:49.

winner. And of late there has been most scenes of Del Potro coming

:42:50.:42:54.

forwards, I think Andy has to be a little bit more careful that he is

:42:55.:42:59.

not too passive. We have seen him go through these meandering phases of

:43:00.:43:02.

complacency, let's hope this is not one here.

:43:03.:43:15.

Well, he is only two from eight on second serve points won, Murray.

:43:16.:43:37.

Well, we talk so often about the line between being overly aggressive

:43:38.:43:44.

and Del Potro normally cooks that of just about right, but we have seen a

:43:45.:43:47.

few too many unforced errors from his forehand side.

:43:48.:44:13.

He is a brute of a man, Del Potro, but he has got real skill as well.

:44:14.:44:23.

Soft handed brilliance here, very explosive first step, got it early

:44:24.:44:29.

enough that he could tickle it over nicely, poise and balance, using the

:44:30.:44:34.

other arm nicely. Putting the brakes on by stabbing his heels into the

:44:35.:44:36.

court. Well, rather off balance on that

:44:37.:45:15.

second serve. His first double, and a chance for another break back.

:45:16.:46:04.

Well, if he had done that on a backhand, there would be only one

:46:05.:46:10.

mirror, and it would be marry. Not there. -- Andy Murray. We're coming

:46:11.:46:25.

straight back to the tennis but over on BBC One there is the men's sprint

:46:26.:46:28.

final in the track cycling and the second races coming up very shortly

:46:29.:46:36.

with the gold medal up for grabs. It is Jason Kenny against Callum

:46:37.:46:38.

Skinner and Jason Kenny won the first race.

:46:39.:46:53.

So, Murray will be a bit upset with himself there, allowing Del Potro to

:46:54.:47:02.

get the break. There has been criticism of Murray, previous second

:47:03.:47:05.

teaming up with Ivan Lendl, at the beginning of matches he plays not to

:47:06.:47:10.

lose but once he is a difficult position he plays to win. I think

:47:11.:47:14.

Ivan Lendl sorted that out again and I haven't seen it but it is

:47:15.:47:20.

something to watch out for. That was a little reactive from Andy Murray,

:47:21.:47:24.

that service game there where he relapsed and we haven't seen in

:47:25.:47:28.

venture into the net as he did in the early part of being sacked. He

:47:29.:47:32.

was six from seven in that regard but just losing his way about their

:47:33.:47:39.

and nothing gained and Del Potro capitalising on it, as you would

:47:40.:47:48.

expect. The matches being played at a pedestrian pace. It is always thus

:47:49.:47:56.

with Del Potro. We have been going out for three quarters of an hour,

:47:57.:47:58.

seven Games. It has been two consecutive games

:47:59.:48:40.

against Andy Murray, and he has to stop the rot now as the momentum

:48:41.:48:45.

bubble of Del Potro is really starting to swell.

:48:46.:49:17.

The rock-solid Andy Murray that we are used to seeing is not there at

:49:18.:49:22.

the moment, perhaps a lapse in concentration. Del Potro compound in

:49:23.:49:33.

that misery, with his serve approaching 200 kilometres an hour.

:49:34.:50:18.

Well, it Del Potro is definitely orchestrating affairs over the last

:50:19.:50:23.

three games and Andy Murray is in its carrying phase at the moment,

:50:24.:50:27.

just playing chase. It is all dependent on how many seconds Cerci

:50:28.:50:36.

gets a look at here. -- how many second serves he gets a look at

:50:37.:50:46.

here. Now the rhythm has gone from Murray. Hopefully that won't last

:50:47.:50:54.

long but that is the situation. It is for- four.

:50:55.:51:03.

The scoreboard confirming the run of three games for Del Potro and the

:51:04.:51:11.

South American energy is starting to bubble up.

:51:12.:51:59.

I just don't get it. It is certainly like there is a switch or plug has

:52:00.:52:08.

been pulled out somewhat. A complete turnaround in this set. He was in

:52:09.:52:10.

control at 4-1. Oh! So far wide, so far back, del

:52:11.:53:28.

Potro still able to crush it across, and then gets the winner down the

:53:29.:53:33.

line. Three things have happened at here that are really very

:53:34.:53:37.

interesting. The Andy Murray service percentage of first serves has come

:53:38.:53:43.

right down and he is now a low 50% and his court position is rendering

:53:44.:53:47.

him a little less effective and he hasn't for raid to the net in the

:53:48.:53:56.

last two games at all. -- he hasn't made a foray to the net in the last

:53:57.:53:58.

two games at all. He is challenging. It is down the

:53:59.:54:37.

line. We are a long way up. He did challenge instantly as well. I think

:54:38.:54:47.

the referee didn't see the first challenge so here's saying it is too

:54:48.:54:54.

late. No, he is wrong. He raised his hand immediately. We didn't say

:54:55.:54:57.

anything perhaps and that is the issue but he didn't hear anything

:54:58.:55:02.

and he thought he didn't challenge. He is lucky because it might well

:55:03.:55:11.

have been out there. If it had been it was 0-40. Yes, it could be

:55:12.:55:20.

consequential. Del Potro has to forget it but it might be tough.

:55:21.:55:45.

Oh, it is a good shot. Not quite enough loft on the club from del

:55:46.:55:54.

Potro but Murray did well. How the umpire cannot say he did not

:55:55.:55:58.

challenge quickly enough when he was not looking at him, because we saw

:55:59.:56:03.

him and it was instant. Yes, that was poor from the umpire. A huge

:56:04.:56:12.

point here. Credit to Del Potro, he didn't make

:56:13.:56:32.

too much of it. He could really have brought the crowd into it and made

:56:33.:56:44.

it a raucous few minutes. That was a fine shot from Murray and what a

:56:45.:56:49.

timely one? Yes, I was about to say the same. Look at that, what

:56:50.:56:55.

position and the unreturnable backhand inside the baseline is the

:56:56.:56:59.

core position from Murray and it shows that if he can land the first

:57:00.:57:02.

served he can have his way with a point as often as not.

:57:03.:57:27.

It is all a bit of a fight at the moment. I think it is very hard when

:57:28.:57:34.

you have been playing catch up in the point and you are used to

:57:35.:57:37.

scurrying, and suddenly having to turn on something very aggressive.

:57:38.:58:38.

Yes, it is dark now. It is ticking up to 6pm local time.

:58:39.:58:54.

Here we go, says Murray. He won what could have been a dangerous game

:58:55.:59:04.

there, and he forces Del Potro to serve to stay in the set. Yes, that

:59:05.:59:08.

was a very brave game from Andy Murray, wrestling with his first

:59:09.:59:13.

serve percentage and collapsing with his chin and Chester Little bit. He

:59:14.:59:16.

needs to stay up there and keep the tossing arm up a little longer. He

:59:17.:59:22.

is still in this set with an upper hand indeed, more crucially. Can he

:59:23.:59:30.

hold on? At Wimbledon he was 65% first serves in as an average but at

:59:31.:59:36.

the moment 47. A wonderful site as the sun sets.

:59:37.:59:50.

You don't win Olympic titles easily. Anyone who thought this might be
