Quarter-Final: Bradford v Warrington Rugby League: Challenge Cup

COMMENTATOR: He jumps for joy. That is their first hat-trick at Wembley.

nowhere. Tremendous from the Bulls. Primrose and blue. Absolutely

sensational. He finishes in the corner.

Welcome to the Provident Stadium, the sun is shining, as we approach

our final quarterfinal of the weekend in the Tetley's Challenge

Cup. It is Warrington, the visitors, taking on a Bradford

Cup. It is Warrington, the visitors, had an eventful season off the

field, to put it mildly. Warrington arrive as the current kings, they

may not be the holders but they have won three out of the last five

finals. And they will face a Bradford team who are targeting a

Challenge Cup run to take their minds off the financial problems

which upset the club over the past few years. We will talk more about

that over the course of the next half an hour. Kick-off is at 3:30

p.m.. Two men with me are Jamie Peacock and Brian Noble and in

between, Bill Crabtree from the Huddersfield Giants. You were here

six years in the first team for the bitter huge game for them this

afternoon. It's a big day for Bradford. We know there off the

field problems and they are struggling in Super League but this

is a different competition and the players will want to be involved

today because the players could make a difference. If they win today and

get through to the semifinal, it's a way to bring the Bradford Bulls back

from where it's been. They are heading Warrington at the wrong

time. They had a mixed start of the season but one the last four. Yes,

Huddersfield fans will save never a good time to get the Warrington

Wolves, but in the Challenge Cup, they saved their best rugby until

then. Radford, the last team to beat Warrington Wolves, so they will

fancy their chances. The buzzword in sport in the last 12 months is

transition. Warrington have been described as a team in transition.

You don't go along with that? I don't. They've had a few different

personnel. They have got new players in there and I think if they're

calling it transition it's because that got new, young, exciting

players. It's taken a while to find their form but the last month has

seen, if you give them time on the ground, they will destroy you.

Yesterday,, today, rather, we are in the sunshine but yesterday, we were

in the rain at the DW Stadium for a compelling match.

Wigan's pedigree is impeccable. They knock it on. No try.

He's lied the timber there is a question hanging over them. No try.

and Castleford scored on both teams withstood pressure at different

They are playing with desire. That's the desire to get off the line,

getting people 's faces and have a smile on their face. You talk about

obstruction yesterday and you want to talk about it again. That's

right. I got the final word today. Obstruction. I'm not arguing with

you. I was driving after the game and I pulled up the traffic lights,

daydreaming, and I thought about, did we talk about obstruction too

much and not the game and I felt eyes burning in the side of my head

so I turned round and Richard Silverwood was in his car with the

other referees survey said to me, wind your window down, so I did, and

they said, don't pull off too fast because might obstruct you. They

have seen the funny side of it. Let's move on from that. We won't

Bradford and steps up for loose forward to cover Antonio Kaufusi's

absence. Warrington don't think too much either. Myler is back in the

starting line-up and Sobers. The battle between Myler and Gale could

current state of the club? The club is a lot stronger position than it

was when I took it over. The crowds are starting to appreciate the fact

that there is sense of stability now and I think I have brought stability

to it. The stadium is looking better, the team is stronger. We

have a bit of a mental note with some of the performances we have put

trust within the club. Are you going to build up a trust for the long

haul? I made a point in last weeks programme that a lot has been said

about the fact that if we are unfortunate to get relegated, I'm

going to run for the hills. What I have said from day one is I have a

long-term plan for this club. If we are unfortunate enough to get the

negated then we will be straight back up in as quick as way as

possible but I'm certainly not going away. We will put the table up to

emphasise the plight that Bradford R.N..

The appeal is pending on the six points. They want more evidence, the

appeal panel. If you get your six points back, you are level with

Wakefield and appoint from Salford. What you think the panel need from

you? I hoped you are not going to ask me about that, to be honest.

Look, I have said before, the appeals process is there for the

benefit of every single club, whether or not it's because a player

has been banned or put on report, or club has been penalised. We believe

we have a justifiable case otherwise I would not be spending the money I

have spent in using it. It is a system that every single club,

Rhinos or Castleford all Wakefield Warrington, every club supports the

fact there is an independent panel to appeal anything the RFL handstand

and therefore, every club has got to accept the fact we are doing the

right to appeal. The Bulls fans will take great heart

from the fact if you do go down, the most important thing is you can come

straight back up. Listen, there is no argument. I'm sure the big fella

on my right will agree as well as Brian Noble on my left,

on my right will agree as well as Brian Bradford is a massive club,

huge club, as you'd support, and an even bigger history. They used to be

around the stadium on average, as many as 16,000 supporters. Those

borders have been hurt over the last few years and I am not going to air

on television either. But it's a brand, if it does go down, there's

no argument about it coming straight back up. What is your sense, he went

through the process the other day, so what is your sense, is their

momentum around the city? If they get four points, drugs other clubs

division and ensure that we are in a strong position for that end of

sure we are there. When you walked in, day one, how bad was it? How

good was it? Did something surprise you? Did you think it's going to

take a long time? When I opened the closet, there were surprises and

shocks. I was blown away by the quality of the people who work and

support the club, the people that have given so much time, people who

took wage cuts just to try to assist the club through its survival. That,

to me, is a phenomenal foundation with which to build any business

on. With regards to the shocks, I'm going to keep them to myself. It

before the watershed. Yes, keep it clean! You said ahead of the

Wakefield game, it was the biggest game for the club in ten years. The

players are delivered for you and that gives you a little but

momentum. The win over Wakefield gives you a bit of memento am going

Regardless of the Rugby League, the Challenge Cup is a phenomenal

tournament. It is steeped in history. Even has a kid, has a

Londoner, the only games televised on TV was by the BBC. Listen to

to break away from the worries of this league and the trials and

tribulations and concentrate on that trophy. We wish you well today and

Lots of noise and distractions, is this a welcome distraction as well

as a big prize? It is the opportunity to get some silverware.

It has been well-documented, are small squad, and there are are more

chances of achieving something in this situation than going in the

Super League. How big a challenge our Warrington? A lot of being said

about them being in transition. We are glad that we got the win against

them one month ago, but we know that we had to be better than that day

and they would be better than that day, but we have to take confidence

because of the point that we scored. Do you take confidence from

Castleford overturning Wigan yesterday? You can take it from

everyone. I would not have thought Castleford were underdogs, the way

they were playing, Wigan have got some players out, but I thought

Castleford were probably the favourites for me. You have to just

keep building, because we have had some times but we have struggled and

we probably hit rock bottom this year with all of those injuries, but

our job is to keep on building and be confident from our last week in

the league, we had a good win, we need to keep going forward. That was

Francis Cummins, Mark Green badge down in front of the Bradford fans

and they applauded him as he left to go to his seat. What about the

players he has picked today? And exciting line-up, Bradford trying to

find their feet after injury. Luke George, adding pace and power

to the back three. In the centres, we have got Adrian Purtell, he had

nine tries this season. He is fully recovered after a heart attack 12

months ago and he is accompanied by Matty Blythe from Warrington. A big

responsibility on Luke Gale, his guile, direction and kicking is

needed, and Danny Addy, the Scotland World Cup star, he is the partner

today. And the front row, watch out for many men are full-colour, he

will try to impress everyone. Accompanied by Cheryl Walker,

unusually in the front row, but his industry and pace will add to the

Bradford team. And the back three, two local products in James

Donaldson and Tom Olbison. And Jay Pitts has been recruited to give

them plenty of industry. Adam O'Brien and Adam Sidlow, Adam

Sidlow, slightly larger from the Salford Red Devils, and Adam

O'Brien, a local product from the academy, indicative of the way the

club is going at the moment, bringing in their own talent. And

Jamal Fakir, from Catalan Dragons, he found a new home here also along

with former Sydney Roosters star Adam Henry in the backline.

This is how the players will play according to John Wilkin. There is a

plan to have in good game plan is to be the opposition. That is not what

is needed today here in Bradford. It is intensity, average, commitment,

for the first time here, and Jamie Peacock, you chased him off with

blood dripping from your mouth! That is true! He got worried about that!

He said he deserved the bread card. Brian, take us to the Warrington

players. They are looking special at the moment, Matthew Russell, he

started for Scotland in the World Cup. Rhys Evans, twin brother of

them, he scored twice in Super League. And Joel Monaghan, watch

out, he has been in sensational form and Ryan Atkins, back to his best,

and England international, wanting to get back in there. Chris Bridge,

what can we say about his form? He has taken on the line unbelievably,

and Richie Myler, he had an ankle injury for most of the season, back

in the team. Watch out, Michael Monaghan, his form after his recent

announcement of his retirement, and Anthony England, he is the

replacement for Adrian Morley. And the back row looks exciting, Ben

Harrison from Cumbria, Ben Currie, the local product, and Stefan

Ratchford, the utility player in his best position, a superb for the

ball. And from the bench, Simon Grix, if they get those rough

winds, watch out for Mick Higham. And Roy Asotasi, his first season,

he accompanies Ben Evans, a local Welsh product. You are OK Brian, I

will forgive you walking across me! These are the players that

Warrington have picked a few moments ago. John Wilkins told us how they

are going to play. There is no doubt that Warrington are at their best

playing a fast-paced game. When the Warrington forward a punching holes

through the opposition and the defence, off the back of that, they

get Michael Monaghan, this man here, he will pick up the balls from the

heels and he will move over the advantage line to retreat into

defence. When Warrington wants to get on the front foot, there go to

man, this man here, Chris Hill, carrying the ball. He is the

important one for Warrington, he gets on the front foot, plays the

ball quickly, for the likes of Michael Monaghan and Mickey Heim.

And my next point, Mickey hi, a fantastic player, watches sniping

runs. -- Mick Higham. They have got Ben Currie, a great back row, best

team on the front foot, a really exciting team. The first player that

John picked out was Michael Monaghan, we have been to meet him

and his brother. I am Michael Monaghan. I am Joel

Monaghan. Monaghan again! He is over! He races for the corner!

Monaghan has scored! Technique and skill, he is as high as you can, and

stand. I recently found out, the old lady reckons she was state champion

bowler, semiprofessional. Three things to win each year, the Super

League, the league leaders and the Challenge Cup, and I have been lucky

enough to be able to finish three of those Challenge Cup finals on the

right end. Three wins in four years, such an impressive return. I would

not trade in any of those challenge cups. The first one, that was

unbelievable, and then to go back to back, that made it even more

special, and the third one, to win it with my brother, that was

something different all again. I came over and it was less than ideal

circumstances, but as his strike rate has proven, he has been an able

acid for the club. Monaghan has got some space! He will not miss! Had a

try in my second game. Six tries behind Bevan. Training,

professionalism, some humour, that is something you need in the club.

If you talk to the other guys, they will talk about Emily tries he has

scored. -- about how many tries he has scored. The teams that, they are

always scratching for the final spot, it is great to be in a team

that doing well. He doesn't have the skin for the Sun! He was always

destined to get your! FA get a striker, it is game over! I think I

have gotten here! You get to a point for the body has had enough, the

head has had enough, time to move onto something else. He has had 15

years in the middle of the pack. Getting abuse, I suggest he's one of

the best players they played against, but I think he will be a

better coach. That is how I think of him, so good luck to him. Hopefully

he will finish with some trophies. He has crumbled. You need to retire

from bowling as well as Rugby League! What is Michael Monaghan

like to play against? He is a nightmare, too smart around the

rock, and if you take a split second, he will make you look daft.

He's a great player, the biggest condiment I could say to him is that

he is a player I would like to play alongside. We have not heard from

the Warrington coach, Tony Smith, here he is with Damien.

Familiar territory for Warrington, how do you approach today, a cup

quarterfinal? Excited, and other game of Rugby League, but we

understand that it has been a different consequence to most other

games that we play, so that where the pressure comes. You need to

perform on the day, and in the past, we have handled that pretty well. We

have some players that have experienced that sort of

performance, the performance that is required, so hopefully they can pass

it onto these new boys the campus well. Hopefully we can handle the

occasion well. Some familiar names have departed, had it been a

difficult transition? No, it has been exciting, fun, enjoyable for

all of us. Some ups and downs along the way, but that is where you learn

the best lessons, some of the Downs, so hopefully you get some good

lessons from the Ops also, so we have had some of the tougher games,

we go away, we learn, we have a toll on ago, and we have had good form

since then. -- we have a long way to go. We're up against a team that

out but the corners do curl up a little bit, so you have to chase

them up. It's the old speedway track which used to be here. Don't give up

from Gale. The start is important for the Bradford team. They have got

to be clinical in the way they find a decent kicking game and

unfortunately they have given away a penalty to give Warrington 's field

to hear you talk about Ratchford, because he has been moved around in

different positions, this year especially. Do you think this is the

best balanced Warrington line-up that we have seen so far? It would

look that way. Ratchford has been all over the place due to injuries

and new personnel coming in but I think he is comfortable in the road

is playing in now. He has plenty of industry. An attempted long

clearance kick. I agree. I think Ratchford and Bridge seems to have a

synergy about it. Myler starts today at scrum-half. Bridge has been

outstanding this year as well. Here comes Ormsby. One of several others

Warrington side have come through the ranks as well. They don't

normally get the credit they deserve, Warrington. They do bring a

few of the youngsters through, don't they? England. Michael Monaghan

They are standing off at the moment and they are lateral off-loads. I

think they have to keep their line-up. This Warrington team have

not concentrated but they are fabulous off-loading team. It's

taken very well by Diskin. I was going to say he is taken in the air,

so it might be a penalty. A late tackle. There was a late tackle. A

definite shoulder charge on Myler. Just watch. Nothing in it, really.

Discipline has been bad for Bradford, hasn't it? We've only

played five minute and they've had two penalties away and put

feature of Warrington under Tony Smith, they are not worried about

does. He is there for the off-load and also a ballplayer. Richie Myler

tackle. Straight into the hands of Gaskell. Evans got there to make the

tackle. Making up the point, I reflect what Jamie Peacock said,

Chris Hill is very strong and powerful as well as a good player.

code will not be happy, they have not had much ball. They need to keep

it. The dyke will break with that amount

of errors. We know what good tackling that is, you cannot give

them possession as much as they have in your own half. Here comes Chris

Wonderful footwork against a tiring defence. Richie Myler is in to score

Once again, that mistake, they take the restart, and they should be the

only one. A missed tackle, one on one. Luke Gale. Luke Gale in the

line, Myler steps on the inside, too strong and too quick close to the

line, that is the key. Bradford have allowed them do this, it is their

own doing. Considering the theme of players in history, you had Ryan

Atkins here as a young player at Bradford. And Chris Bridge. They

moved on to Wakefield after eight years with us, and he has made his

name at the Warrington club. Bridge, looking to make it an

ex-Bradford double, in terms of the scoring of points. Atkins having

touched, bridge who has landed one goal already today, he just punches

it over the short, uncomplicated running style. He hooks it over. It

are a pretty good team at the moment and Bradford can't afford to give

think he just runs around Sidlow, so it's a double whammy for him.

Russell. He really caught the eye with some cameo performances at the

start of the season. Very quick. An electric pace. He's normally

renowned for making breaks from his own backfield. He had a good World

Cup and it gave him a lot of confidence. Playing with Scotland.

Born in Ayrshire. Bridge looking to add another two here. We should find

this very simple and he does. It's such an uncomplicated style. Bridge

with a little prod between the uprights. He just ran around him.

Running outside as well to keep the defence away from him. Created

of such confidence. He has the body language of a player who has been

got to play for it. As I said, the corners do curve up so you have got

to watch it all the time because I have a tendency more than any other

ground to bounce back over your head and the Bradford boys know this. And

they will put the kicks into the corners. They are trying to drop the

Bradford support here. Come on, get behind your boys, they are saying.

The Bulls need something before the break here to give them a bit of

heart going into the second half. Manuokafoa has done well driving it

in. The offload was a little scruffy. Sidlow. O Brien. Is having

It's an untidy game at the moment. Really untidy game. This is the

will take anything here. All they have got to do is keep the ball.

Repeat the set. Asotasi didn't make the contact you

Another mistake. Everything before Bradford is coming

through Gale. They've already talked about Warrington, how multi their

attack is. I think they were looking to see if Bridge had touched it.

Going back to Bradford, they need to kick straight. Watch out for the

corner ricochet. I would like to see Gaskell coming in. He needs to give

Gale that option out wide. He has got good speed. He can break the

line. Russell. They've done a lot from dummy half. The first of three

tackles, they're gone from dummy half, got good speed and then it's

an easy kick for the halfbacks. On the sixth tackle, Warrington now

look to finish with a kick from Bridge which will make as hard as

possible for Bradford. It's now going to be a cap back on the 20.

What you were saying about the Warrington rocks, it is really hard

to defend. It is called winning the ground, Bradford cannot generate the

same kind of ruck speed. What Warrington are doing is running out

the dummy half and bouncing up, playing the ball quickly, which

makes the game easier for the halfbacks. There are all kinds of

shenanigans that goes on in these kinds of tackles to try to

shenanigans that goes on in these kinds of tackles to slow things

down. Some of them illegal, some of them less so.

The other thing we have just seen an example of, is they throw great

width passes out of dummy half. That was a terrific flick past from

Bridge, but straight into the hands of George. That was good play from

George. Looking down his left channel, being slowed down again.

O'Brien, the young hooker who has come through the system at Bradford,

20 years of age, getting his chance this season. Gail, with a click

away. Evans is quick enough and sharp enough to make sure it is his

with some comfort. Ratchford with the pass, and slammed

into. He is only a halfbacks, you get away with it, you blokes, don't

you? And an interesting take on the shoulder charge from Brian Nove

Dermot recently saying that it was brought in to stop the little fellas

being slammed on the blindside by the big fellas. You have got to

finish this, get a good kick in here. Just one minute ago. He is

threatening position. Well away. Michael Monaghan drops on it, and

the last set of the half. 35 seconds before the hooter sounds. Warrington

in control of this match, by a distance.

Now Elliott Kier picks it up, he has done well from dummy half. Yes, he

needs some supporters. The hooter sounds before the ball can be played

and that will be an end to it in the first half. Elliott Kier with one

driver of the Bradford Bulls, but dominated by the presence of

Warrington. Four scorers, and Warrington in the ascendancy at

half-time, leading by 18-4, and Bradford needing a big reaction in

the second half to come back. Damien Johnson is with Richie Myler. We

knew it was going to be a tough battle. Bradford came back and

scored against us, but we continued in the second half, hopefully we can

do the same thing. Luke, how are you going to get in this game? It is a

sizeable advantage. We had to slow the ruck down and build in the

second half. It is quite a strong wind out there.

It is a hot all day here, and Bradford have found it tough going

during that first 40 minutes. Warrington had more possession and

more territory, and also you look at the number of metres made, 787 for

Warrington, 524 Bradford. They said in commentary with about ten minutes

to go that it has been a little untidy. Yes, a scrappy game so far

with so many errors and you don't expect this from two quality teams.

The standard is improving as the game goes on but Bradford need to

get themselves back into it. They need to be quicker around the ball

and got out the errors. Warrington played too fast, I cannot remember

the amount of tackles... Bradford only got two players in instead of

three and tried to slow them down. If you are going to give penalties

for slowing the game down, the threat is Monaghan in dummy half.

Tell us how they have dominated that dummy half.

Tell us how they have dominated that snapshot of how Warrington have

played the game. Ratchford is waiting out the back, he off-loads

the ball to him. This is how Warrington want to play. They have

two players fighting for the ball and everyone is on the front foot.

This is what Gale is talking about, how they need to control the ruck

speed. Warrington have realised their assets are people like Hill,

England, and Ratchford running out of dummy half. Bradford need to

negate that. How? They don't make many metres, so when you lack size

in the title, you need to put three or four in and they have

consistently not done that in this half. Let's go through the tries,

all of them linked to errors. Let's start with Richie Myler's. He takes

his eye off the ball, this gifts them and Warrington are good players

in their own half. We are looking at a process we showed earlier, the

snapshot we showed earlier ties big men in the middle. The Warrington

players are lined up on their side. This guy here, he needs him up the

post. He takes the wrong option, goes to the right, and it leaves a

big hole. That is what fatigue doors, it makes falls out of us all.

Tiredness can make you go in the wrong direction. Yes, and that can

lead to a try. Playing in the middle is the easiest one to describe but

it is the most difficult one to do because you have got to make those

decisions all the time. You are talking five yards, that's all.

Sometimes even less and it is a split second, you have got to make

those quick decisions and if you don't, it is that split second that

they see that gap you have created by just not taking a step and that

is when you concede tries. Bradford have only made six errors,

Warrington have made seven, but it is where Bradford have made the

errors. That's it. Bradford are really struggling off the back of

the errors they are conceding. This is schoolboy. Someone has to take

control of that, it is just a bit of footwork. Gale looks around,

realises he is in the wrong position, and Atkins scores the

try. This is the benefit of how Warrington played, they tied the

middle out and they cannot defend. These are errors Bradford don't need

if they think they can win this game. We are talking small yards

again, three or four metres. Russell has speed to burn, and this is part

of the style of the way Warrington play. You cannot make the extra

couple of yards which makes the difference at this higher level.

Talk us through Elliott's try. It comes from nowhere really. It is an

off load which you wouldn't really expect of the back of a good dummy

half carry, but Richie Myler out wide is looking and at the last

second he realises the person on the outside of him is there but it is

too late by then. We thought he should have gone for the corner but

he puts his head down and gets over eventually. You two both think he

should go for the corner, being the expert finishers. I questioned what

he was doing, then I realised I don't play prop. In many ways he

will reveal what -- repeat what Gale said, that one try can get them back

into it. That is what they need, to get some momentum. If they can play

in Warrington's half they will give themselves a chance. Warrington may

come up with some of the errors that they have come out with through the

season. You looked at Gale and Myler as a head-to-head before the game,

didn't you? Yes, Gale has more kicks but these are kicks that get them

out of trouble. Richie Myler has scored a try but both of them have

been guilty of letting a try in as well. There are three different

errors for the half, and we have seen Richie Myler running. Gale's

kicking, these kicks need to stay in the field. That's an extra 20 metres

going back to Warrington. That is a good kick for Richie Myler, he is

not known for his kicking, he is known for his running and in this

game he has run well. It is easy for a half to play off the back of

strong forwards. The forwards should get more credit really, shouldn't

they? It is all to do with the forwards, and various Richie

Myler's try. That is his key asset, his footwork and his running. We

were talking about position and pace, he is not afraid to use that

ability he has got. It has come down to the kicking game and it is not

quite therefore Gale. Richie Myler is just on top at the moment. There

is eyes visible in their dressing room. Are there any negatives for

Warrington in the first half? In the first 15 minutes I thought they had

too many errors but Bradford made more errors so they left them off

the hook. Warrington are playing to their strengths, they know what they

are doing. I think the key is Gale's kicking game. If he can be

more pinpoint, Gale's kicking game. If he can be

chance. The second half will be on the way shortly, but now it is time

chance. The second half will be on for another ray French challenge cup

memory and one of the biggest shocks of all time. One of my favourite

memories of the challenge cup final was certainly the day when Sheffield

Eagles beat Wigan. An unbelievable result when you

remember the Sheffield Eagles had only been founded 14 years before.

Even when I spoke to John Kier earlier in the season after one of

the earlier rounds, John said to me then, we will win the cup, you know.

I said, John, the sun has gone to your head, you can't win the cup,

but he was adamant and he kept the Sheffield Eagles sign going, a goal

at half-time, psychologically keeping his side with a huge boost

as they went into half-time. Sheffield Eagles totally deserved

it, but I will confess, even to the last five minutes, I thought somehow

Jason Robinson or someone like that will surely get two tries. They

never did and Sheffield Eagles deserved probably the greatest upset

in Challenge Cup history. Nice memories. We have got the

second half coming shortly and in the semifinal draw live on BBC Two

at the conclusion of this game. Not a boiling hot studio for Jon Wilkin

into it, I've seen you clapping and carrying on. What are your thoughts

for the second half? I would like them to blow the whistle now, to be

honest. Anything can happen in rugby. We've seen that in the past

couple of days, so I will only relax when the whistle was blown. I was

brought up on football for the rugby is new to me. Richard has to wear

green boots so I know where it is because my eyes are that bad. Last

day I was pregnant. The year before, I was pregnant, so we wanted this

year, definitely, we've come all the way. Nice to talk to you. I now

empathise with you and understand what you go through. You should buy

your wife a nice present. We all agree, actually. She should get a

nice big present. Obviously, the World Cup starts this week. We are

trying to recreate the conditions of Rio in the studio this afternoon.

It's boiling hot. There is Myler for the they need to

be greener. His green and white boots. He's led them to an 18-4 lead

game. Psychologically, the Bulls like to play down the slope for the

looks really open this year. There are some real quality right

across-the-board. I was very impressed with Castleford yesterday.

so hats off to him. Is this the slick performance you missed a few

weeks ago? We have looked back at that Bradford game a few times and

we were unhappy with a few things. We seem to have fixed them and today

What was the key to victory today? We had to speed up the game in the

second half, it is one of the slowest games we have been involved

with for a long time with a lot of stoppages. Or attack was not fluent

and we need to sharpen up on our attack and take control of the speed

of the game, and I thought we did that very well in the second half.

Bradford rallied in the second half, you expected that but you sniffed

out any danger. A couple of things went against us, the video referee

call. Apparently he couldn't see it, which is a new one for me. But

things went OK for us in the second half, there was a lot more control

about it. Of course Bradford will fight back, they have some spirit in

this club and Freddie is doing a great job for them. They weren't

going to roll over easily. What are your thoughts now for the

semifinals? It is a long way off so we will keep going for the rest of

the season. There is a lot of time between it, you can have injuries

and we have picked up a couple so I am a bit disappointed we lost

things but hopefully we will have those players back by the time we

a remarkable record in itself. It is a great record to have and it must

give you confidence going into the game, knowing that these are the

games you enjoy the most and win the most times as well. It is fantastic

what they are doing. Was Tony Smith right to play it down a little bit,

saying they weren't quick enough in the first half? That is how Tony

is, always after 100%. I thought they played well in the first half,

and in the second half they were very good. I thought Bradford were

poor in the second half, they didn't defend too well. We will analyse the

you said something towards the end of the commentary that intrigued me,

after a while. I think so, and that reflected in the second half,
