Good afternoon. Welcome to Wigan. We thought this was meant to be a

:00:46.:00:52.

summer sport. It is horrible here. It is dark. It is damp. It is rainy.

:00:53.:00:58.

There is plenty of enthusiasm in the crowd. They are ready to go for a

:00:59.:01:06.

tote Liz Challenge Cup quarter final. -- Tetleys. We hope the two

:01:07.:01:12.

sides this afternoon light up the next couple of hours.

:01:13.:01:20.

Try! Oh, my word. Sam Tomkins, per curial genius. -- mercurial.

:01:21.:01:45.

What an off-load and Michael Shenton scores. A very good try.

:01:46.:02:03.

It should be a fascinating afternoon ahead here at the DW Stadium between

:02:04.:02:23.

Wigan, the cup holders, and Castleford, who have surprised many

:02:24.:02:28.

with their Super League performances this season. Got a team of experts

:02:29.:02:34.

ready to go to entertain you. We also want you to be involved as

:02:35.:02:37.

well. There you go, look at them! They are ready to entertain, let me

:02:38.:02:41.

tell you. We want you to be involved as well, though. Plenty of ways in

:02:42.:02:43.

which you can do that. # We have two games for you. Tomorrow

:02:44.:03:09.

we'll be on BBC Two as we see Bradford against Warrington.

:03:10.:03:15.

Brian noble, John Wilkin and Jamie Peacock alongside me for two hours

:03:16.:03:19.

or so. You think the weather could have an effect this afternoon. It

:03:20.:03:22.

has been lashing down. I'd like to hope it wouldn't, because both teams

:03:23.:03:27.

play really excellent rugby league football. But it slightly favours,

:03:28.:03:32.

the wet weather slightly restricts what Castleford would like to do.

:03:33.:03:35.

They will have to be more conservative. Wigan have the

:03:36.:03:39.

structure and game plan to be more conservative. Their systems will get

:03:40.:03:43.

them to the right parts of the field. Castleford like to take a

:03:44.:03:47.

chance with the ball and promote the ball around. That will inhibit It's

:03:48.:03:52.

going them. To be tight though. What's really interesting about

:03:53.:03:56.

today is that we have a team that attack fantastically well, that's

:03:57.:04:01.

Castleford. Daryl Powell deserves credit for how smart they're

:04:02.:04:05.

attacking, the bigger players releasing their speed. They're

:04:06.:04:08.

playing against the best defensive team, or one of the best in the

:04:09.:04:13.

competition. Wigan have only missed 290 tackles total this season in

:04:14.:04:16.

Super League. That's not a lot of missed tackles. It's interesting,

:04:17.:04:21.

great attack versus great defence. Let's bring in the Carl Froch of

:04:22.:04:25.

Super League, I said they were a surprise. I'm only saying that

:04:26.:04:29.

because he's a lot further away from me than from you! From a Castleford

:04:30.:04:34.

point of view, I did say they were a surprise package. Have they just

:04:35.:04:38.

built on how they ended last season? Yeah Daryl Powell came in, he had

:04:39.:04:43.

three months in preseason to build on his coaching, which is based

:04:44.:04:46.

around honesty and hard work. They have a huge squad. If you don't play

:04:47.:04:51.

well, you're out of the team. He also lets them play, lets every

:04:52.:04:55.

player play. There's not one player who hasn't got their license to pass

:04:56.:04:59.

or off-load, that's why they've scored a lot of points. Kickoff is

:05:00.:05:04.

2. 30pm. It is quarter final weekend in the Challenge Cup. We've had two

:05:05.:05:08.

quarter finals already, one of them was cracking. The other one less so.

:05:09.:05:15.

The Vikings put in a convincing performance against championship

:05:16.:05:18.

side Keithly. They made the most of every opportunity. They capitalised

:05:19.:05:24.

on a poor kick to put Tom Gilmore in for the first of the night. Despite

:05:25.:05:27.

not being selected for the England Koran Kevin Brown was instrumental

:05:28.:05:31.

in a solid performance, score twoing tries including an impressive

:05:32.:05:33.

50-metre dash tries including an impressive

:05:34.:05:37.

second. It was Brown's spectacular kicking game that created an age

:05:38.:05:45.

try. -- Eid try. -- eighth tie. kicking game that created an age

:05:46.:06:02.

Championship leaders put in a performance against the leads

:06:03.:06:03.

rhinos. performance against the leads

:06:04.:06:08.

The first points of the game went to the rhinos by Ryan Hall.

:06:09.:06:14.

But it didn't take long for them to bounce back. Tom Spencer

:06:15.:06:19.

But it didn't take long for them to Armstrong ran in two tries in four

:06:20.:06:24.

minutes. It was a stunned Leeds side who were outclassed with the second.

:06:25.:06:28.

A gutsy effort by the championship side, who kept the ball alive

:06:29.:06:33.

through a series of off-loads before Armstrong finished it off. Despite

:06:34.:06:40.

an impressive first-half performance, they were unable to

:06:41.:06:44.

stay on top. A converted try by Stevie Ward meant it was all square

:06:45.:06:49.

going into the break. A fight broke out in the opening minutes of the

:06:50.:06:51.

second half, which resulted in man of the match Jamie Peacock being

:06:52.:07:02.

shown a yellow card. It was Oliver Wilkes what came close to claiming

:07:03.:07:07.

the lead, but it was a missed opportunity, as he dropped the ball

:07:08.:07:11.

over the line. Any dreams of a semifinal place was shattered by the

:07:12.:07:15.

Rhinos in the closing seven minutes. With the prospect of extra time

:07:16.:07:20.

looming it was Robbie Ward who snatched victory for the Rhinos with

:07:21.:07:27.

a try in the 73rd minute. A drop goal came minutes later. And Zach

:07:28.:07:40.

Hardacre sealed the win. Let's deal with the match itself,

:07:41.:07:44.

shall we, Jamie. They gave you a real, real tough test last night.

:07:45.:07:50.

Yeah it was a very difficult game. Full credit to them. It's the most

:07:51.:07:54.

difficult game I've had against opposition outside the Super League.

:07:55.:07:57.

They had a lot of flair with the ball. They were committed. At the

:07:58.:08:01.

end of the game, they were gutted they had lost. They didn't come just

:08:02.:08:06.

to They are compete. Ready for super. You can't stop laughing. I

:08:07.:08:11.

just want to get to the good stuff. They are ready for Super League.

:08:12.:08:14.

Yeah they are. It's an important game, last night, we have the new

:08:15.:08:17.

structure coming in next year, promotion and relegation is coming

:08:18.:08:20.

back. Everybody in the game was just holding their breath and hoping

:08:21.:08:26.

Leigh could make the game competitive. It was fascinating to

:08:27.:08:29.

watch and a good example of what the championship can produce, some

:08:30.:08:33.

great, young players. Do you want to see the good stuff. We all want to

:08:34.:08:38.

see it. You weren't man of the match, Jamie. What happened? If you

:08:39.:08:46.

head butt someone, there's normally repercussions. You asked me earlier

:08:47.:08:50.

if I was rattled. That's me cool, calm and collected to be honest. I

:08:51.:08:54.

thought you held it together quite well. What due say at the end? I

:08:55.:09:00.

said, leave it out on the field, mate. There's a lot of respect for

:09:01.:09:08.

the way they played. That's the best thing about our game, you can have

:09:09.:09:12.

that situation and it doesn't get carried on. We just get on with

:09:13.:09:16.

things. That's why JP has been a great ambassador for the sport all

:09:17.:09:19.

these years. It's important that we prove to you that we may have

:09:20.:09:23.

fighters, but we can be lovers as well. Take a look at what has

:09:24.:09:29.

happened here. Not literally, but here at the DW Stadium, there has

:09:30.:09:35.

been a wedding today between Allen and Kelly Barlow. They booked the

:09:36.:09:40.

venue before they knew there was a Challenge Cup quarter final here.

:09:41.:09:45.

They are huge Wigan rugby league fans. The fact that we're going to

:09:46.:09:50.

play today has enhanced their day. We wish them plenty of luck in the

:09:51.:09:55.

future. Isn't that heart warming, Brian? I wonder what position she

:09:56.:10:00.

plays in Wigan. I meant... That was in a nice way! Of course. We hope

:10:01.:10:09.

you have a special day, Alan and Kelly. Let's move on and get the

:10:10.:10:15.

team newsment Thanks. Wigan have had horrible injury

:10:16.:10:19.

problems in recent weeks. Up to nine and ten players injured. A few

:10:20.:10:23.

familiar faces are back for them. Sean O'Loughlin came back last week

:10:24.:10:28.

and played about 60-odd minutes last week. They've got Ben Flower back,

:10:29.:10:35.

Michael McIlorum and Liam Farrell. A more familiar-looking line up. James

:10:36.:10:40.

Greenwood is -- Blake Green is still out. So they also have George

:10:41.:10:45.

Williams. A more settled Castleford side. Aaron Finch is back. He was

:10:46.:10:52.

rested last week. The big miss for them is Justin Carney on the wing.

:10:53.:10:57.

He's been taking lessons from Jamie Peacock, a bit of a punch up a

:10:58.:11:04.

couple of weeks ago. James Clare comes in for him. Huby has been

:11:05.:11:09.

going fantasticically great. England picked for the -- Huby picked for

:11:10.:11:15.

the England squad and Daryl Clark at We'll talk hooker. About the absence

:11:16.:11:19.

of Justin Carney as well later. When you look at the Super League table

:11:20.:11:23.

and you mentioned this already, we can see that Castleford and Wigan

:11:24.:11:28.

are in third and fourth, but the points scored by Castleford stands

:11:29.:11:31.

out. They're the top scorers. They scored the most tries this year, the

:11:32.:11:35.

reason for that, the building of this honesty, the culture, Clark is

:11:36.:11:39.

so integral to their attack, along with some of their bigger players,

:11:40.:11:43.

who create space for the likes of Shenton and Carney, who have been

:11:44.:11:47.

amongst the tries. You look at the defence. You have two second and

:11:48.:11:52.

third best defence. Everybody has been focussed on how many points

:11:53.:11:56.

Castleford have scored. They have the third best defence as well.

:11:57.:12:01.

Daryl has that work ethic that Jamie was speaking about before. When they

:12:02.:12:04.

don't have the ball, it's massively important, probably one of the

:12:05.:12:08.

features of them being in One of third. The interesting stories

:12:09.:12:12.

around today's game is that Wigan haven't actually lost in the cup at

:12:13.:12:19.

home since 1986. The last team to beat them at home in the cup were

:12:20.:12:25.

Castleford. However, this current Wigan team are a much different

:12:26.:12:28.

prospect when they have their captain in the side.

:12:29.:12:38.

There's Edwards going away, straight down the middle!

:12:39.:12:45.

Surely now that's the try that will take Wigan through.

:12:46.:12:53.

The record the club has now is pretty special. To have not lost a

:12:54.:12:57.

game for so long, you hear what an achievement it is. You don't want to

:12:58.:13:01.

be the team who lose it's for us. Wig around has always had it from

:13:02.:13:08.

the 80s an 90s, being unbeaten. There's a bit of romance about this

:13:09.:13:14.

trophy that the lads really tie into. The question is who can ever

:13:15.:13:21.

take it from them. Some of my fondest memories of watching Wigan

:13:22.:13:24.

were at Wembley. Watching them win that trophy. That's something that

:13:25.:13:29.

once you've seen, it and you get an opportunity to play for your town,

:13:30.:13:33.

it's something you want to emulatement Sean O'Loughlin wins

:13:34.:13:37.

that trophy. It's a Wembley occasion that belongs to the town of Wigan.

:13:38.:13:41.

Last year was a special year. We had quite a few lads leaving. We knew

:13:42.:13:48.

early in the year it was going to be going. It pulled us together to send

:13:49.:13:52.

them off on a high. We did that in a great way, winning this and the

:13:53.:13:58.

Grand Final. Sam Tomkins wins it for Wigan! They are double winners. Sam

:13:59.:14:05.

last year, along with a few key players for us, probably started the

:14:06.:14:10.

year and we were finding our feet, getting to grips with new players.

:14:11.:14:11.

Then we founds our feet getting to grips with new players.

:14:12.:14:12.

to play good football again. getting to grips with new players.

:14:13.:14:21.

got the space here. They've got the pace with Burgess, who's going to

:14:22.:14:25.

skip away for his second try of the night. Fabulous. We know what we

:14:26.:14:28.

have to do this weekend. We know it's going to be a tough game. We

:14:29.:14:32.

played them early on in the year. They did a good job on us. They

:14:33.:14:39.

turned us over at Castleford. We probably underestimated them a bit.

:14:40.:14:45.

They have a great coach in Daryl Powell. It's going to be a tough

:14:46.:14:53.

game for us. We're a way off building a dynasty yet, but there's

:14:54.:14:57.

more expectation on us now than ever in the past. We want to get our

:14:58.:15:01.

hands on this trophy again. We know to do that, we've got to have a

:15:02.:15:04.

great performance to beat Castleford.

:15:05.:15:12.

Jon Wilkin, it is easy for me to say they are a different side

:15:13.:15:17.

Jon Wilkin, it is easy for me to say in the starting 13. Why are they

:15:18.:15:22.

different? Sean O'Loughlin does not do one thing particularly well, he

:15:23.:15:26.

does everything very well. He brings intensity, aggression and smart

:15:27.:15:31.

players to their team. What else can you say about him? He is one of the

:15:32.:15:38.

best players in our competition for all of those reasons. When you are

:15:39.:15:44.

playing against him, he is in your face. He initiates contact. One of

:15:45.:15:51.

our bigger players, Sean was off the line to hit him, and that shows

:15:52.:15:57.

intent and leadership. At man that big is difficult to tackle. We track

:15:58.:16:04.

is run, the break, but to be able to make this play, 23 metre

:16:05.:16:10.

left-to-right pass on the move, there are not many players

:16:11.:16:12.

left-to-right pass on the move, do that, and he is one

:16:13.:16:12.

left-to-right pass on the move, is why he is special to this Wigan

:16:13.:16:16.

side. He finds himself in position is why he is special to this Wigan

:16:17.:16:21.

wouldn't. That is due to his versatility and his play. He is a

:16:22.:16:28.

leader and he can hit and he is very smart and always thinks making a

:16:29.:16:33.

fantastic player. You can see him loitering on the pitch on the

:16:34.:16:40.

right-hand side of your screen. The Wigan team are just starting to

:16:41.:16:42.

stretch out now. Sean O'Loughlin The Wigan team are just starting to

:16:43.:16:46.

one of the key three players I am picking out today. He is a sticky

:16:47.:16:49.

player and defenders will have to deal with him when he has the ball.

:16:50.:16:53.

player and defenders will have to The nucleus of the forward pack is

:16:54.:16:56.

this man in the background, Michael McIlorum. He is a little terrier. He

:16:57.:17:02.

will get into everything. He is not the biggest bloke on the field, but

:17:03.:17:04.

he goes in at a million miles the biggest bloke on the field, but

:17:05.:17:11.

hour. We are looking at the spine of the team. One of the players that

:17:12.:17:16.

has been brought in this year is Mattie Owen. He is just doing a bit

:17:17.:17:20.

off at work with the ball air. When he is carrying the ball, if you are

:17:21.:17:26.

a defender, if he is running back at you, it is a frightening place to

:17:27.:17:37.

be. They can do so much. Keep your eyes on those three players which

:17:38.:17:41.

make up the spine of the Wigan outfit. And take us through the

:17:42.:17:47.

team. At the back, they have a lot of experience in Mattie Owen. Watch

:17:48.:17:56.

out for Joe Burgess, one of the fastest players in our competition.

:17:57.:18:00.

Anthony Gelling has had limited opportunities but always plays well.

:18:01.:18:07.

Dan Sarginson, watch out for his footwork and his fantastic defence.

:18:08.:18:13.

In the halfbacks, some people will be shocked to see George Williams at

:18:14.:18:17.

stand-off. He has been a hooker in recent times, but equally

:18:18.:18:21.

comfortable there. Matty Smith polls all the strings at scrum-half and

:18:22.:18:23.

will be getting the ball the majority of the time today for

:18:24.:18:27.

Wigan. The hooker, Michael McIlorum, one of my favourite players in the

:18:28.:18:32.

competition at the moment. He is tough, robust, such a competitor.

:18:33.:18:37.

Watch out for his aggression, sometimes it teeters over, but he is

:18:38.:18:41.

a fantastic way. Two very competent props on either side of him. Is this

:18:42.:18:46.

the best back row in Super League? Possibly. John Bateman does think

:18:47.:18:50.

that his age that he should not be doing. He is schooling at the back

:18:51.:18:54.

rows in this competition. Liam Farrell, full of energy, fantastic

:18:55.:19:00.

wrestling. And we have said enough about Sean O'Loughlin already. Jack

:19:01.:19:04.

Hughes, young back row, plays very well and a great athlete. Dominic

:19:05.:19:08.

Crosby, impressed by him and he has huge international potential. Lots

:19:09.:19:14.

of youngsters. Yes, but so many good young players doing a great job for

:19:15.:19:19.

them. Finally, Ryan Hampshire, lightning fullback, and Ryan Sutton,

:19:20.:19:23.

what a day for him. A young man whose dream about laying in the

:19:24.:19:29.

Challenge Cup, he has come in and taken the opportunity. He's so young

:19:30.:19:35.

he does not have an official photo. Their average age is 23. It shows

:19:36.:19:40.

what a production line of talent they have at this club. There must

:19:41.:19:44.

be several more knocking on the door to try to play today. From Wigan,

:19:45.:20:00.

let's move on to Castleford. We have a kicking masterclass from Marc

:20:01.:20:03.

Sneyd. Do not try this at home, you might dislocate your hip!

:20:04.:20:08.

I am doing everything the same as I did last year, but now I am

:20:09.:20:13.

experimenting. The most unusual ones worked. They thought I was joking at

:20:14.:20:20.

first. He is putting out all the noise. He has set that superbly

:20:21.:20:28.

well. Terrific kick from the touchline. White through the

:20:29.:20:37.

centre! I try to curl it like football in that sense. As long as

:20:38.:20:40.

the wall keeps going through the sticks, I am not going to complain

:20:41.:20:48.

about it. As accurate as you like. Everything about the place is

:20:49.:20:56.

absolutely outstanding this year. They are flying! Marc Sneyd, the

:20:57.:21:04.

architect. Everyone is happy and everyone knows their roles. It is

:21:05.:21:08.

working well. As long as we carry on playing, we can probably beat

:21:09.:21:13.

anybody in our day. Is finding his kicking boots now. He is on loan

:21:14.:21:20.

from Salford. You will know him well. Aside from the 59 Super League

:21:21.:21:25.

goals he has this year, ye also leads in try assists as well. He is

:21:26.:21:31.

a dangerous player. He can play, he can break the line, and as you say,

:21:32.:21:36.

I think it is 75 try assists this year. That teens he can pass the

:21:37.:21:41.

ball as well. He is pivotal to what Castleford do and don't do today.

:21:42.:21:47.

One of Castleford's keys to success is that everyone is a threat, I know

:21:48.:21:51.

we talk about Marc Sneyd there, but you cannot just take out one person.

:21:52.:22:05.

Everybody is, is contributing. If you look at Michael McIlorum and

:22:06.:22:11.

John Bateman, they are combated players. Justin Carney is the same

:22:12.:22:15.

for Castleford. He is there a aggressive player. He can score

:22:16.:22:19.

great tries, but he is aggressive for a winger. Once he gets in your

:22:20.:22:22.

face, I think they will miss that right in the game. They will miss

:22:23.:22:28.

the prowess coming out of that end as well. They are going through the

:22:29.:22:32.

final bumps, the Castleford players down next to them in the rain. They

:22:33.:22:39.

are feeling a lot of love at the moment. You can see they have

:22:40.:22:50.

confidence. Andy Lynch, the big guy in the middle of the field, what he

:22:51.:22:55.

does if he brings experience. He will settle down when things go

:22:56.:23:00.

crazy. Craig Huby is another one, just their running off the field. He

:23:01.:23:04.

has got a big beard. And Daryl Clark, one of the top players in the

:23:05.:23:08.

Super League this season. He will be looking to jump out. They are going

:23:09.:23:13.

back in, they have just had a good warm up and are looking to get the

:23:14.:23:19.

game underway. Let's look at one of the battles today, Michael McIlorum

:23:20.:23:25.

against Daryl Clark. Daryl Powell said he was the best hooker in Super

:23:26.:23:30.

League this season. It is hard to argue with those statistics. He

:23:31.:23:35.

carries the ball. If Huby Andy Lynch get on the front, look at the

:23:36.:23:40.

meters. Every time he carries 1800 metres, to average out in the Super

:23:41.:23:48.

League is huge. Every time Daryl Clark carries the ball, he is a

:23:49.:23:54.

threat on the back of what they do. Don't underestimate what Michael

:23:55.:23:58.

McIlorum am the effect that he has on the Wigan team as well. His

:23:59.:24:01.

control, his dynamic and organisation, he runs when it is

:24:02.:24:07.

right. Not as many times as Daryl Clark, but he is still effective.

:24:08.:24:11.

His leadership qualities put him on the top of the pile, and that is why

:24:12.:24:16.

he gets the nod at international level above Daryl Clark. Wherever

:24:17.:24:20.

you look, forward wise, they have got threat and power. You can bring

:24:21.:24:25.

Huby and Lynch into this as well. This clip encapsulating what

:24:26.:24:30.

Castleford do best. You could have got -- you have got Clark and

:24:31.:24:38.

running there. A very clever shape. We have thinly, Slade.

:24:39.:24:50.

Expect to see Clark running a lot today. This one here, a big run in,

:24:51.:24:56.

instead of passing the ball, getting into contact and finding an

:24:57.:25:02.

off-load. Craig Huby's game has developed. He is a fantastic player.

:25:03.:25:06.

The ability to run the, bump, off-load or pass gives you a lot of

:25:07.:25:10.

options, and Castleford will feed off the back of that. I think

:25:11.:25:14.

Fulford do a lot of things. They fancy this today, Castleford.

:25:15.:25:20.

Go through their side for us. The jewel in the crown of

:25:21.:25:32.

Castleford's back three is Luke Dorn, a great finisher. He scored 12

:25:33.:25:38.

tries in the last nine games. And here is where the power lies.

:25:39.:25:46.

Michael Shenton, skipper of his hometown club, back in the England

:25:47.:25:49.

training squad and at the top of his game. Marc Sneyd, we featured his

:25:50.:25:59.

kicking game. In Super League, his passing game is pretty awesome as

:26:00.:26:04.

well. And Liam Finn, these are the most talked about halfback

:26:05.:26:08.

partnership in the game. A powerful front row, highlighted by Jon

:26:09.:26:11.

Wilkin. Craig Huby is on the top of his game. Daryl Clark, watching go.

:26:12.:26:22.

And they're back three, they underestimated, overworking Oliver

:26:23.:26:26.

Holmes, 21 years old, last year's Young player of the year. Lee Jewitt

:26:27.:26:30.

was weighing room the recently but was brought back with an injury. He

:26:31.:26:32.

is in the team. Plenty of size off the bench. Grant

:26:33.:26:46.

Millington has found for me, with Frankie Mariano. They have some

:26:47.:26:50.

sides, those two! And finally, Scott Wheeldon from the London Broncos,

:26:51.:26:54.

club of last year. Jamie Ellis coming off the bench, might have to

:26:55.:27:00.

give Daryl Clark a bit of a rest. He is also adept at playing in the

:27:01.:27:04.

halfback position. His kicking game may prove to be crucial. The

:27:05.:27:11.

build-up to this game has been dominated by some needling between

:27:12.:27:14.

both head coaches. Let's hear from them. They

:27:15.:27:17.

both head coaches. Let's hear from The young guys have done

:27:18.:27:19.

fantastically in recent weeks, but a The young guys have done

:27:20.:27:28.

relief? Yes. Ben Flower, he has been a great player for me. The young

:27:29.:27:32.

kids have done a great job. The senior players in the team give some

:27:33.:27:38.

stability, and that is what is needed today. How confident are you

:27:39.:27:42.

players that they can beat Wigan year-to-date? We will have to play

:27:43.:27:45.

exceptionally well, there is no doubt about that. Wigan are a great

:27:46.:27:48.

side with high-quality players, so we need to be good. But we feel

:27:49.:27:55.

confident about ourselves. The players are ready to go and looking

:27:56.:27:57.

forward to the big challenge in front of us. If we play well

:27:58.:28:01.

enough, I expect us to have a good chance of winning the game.

:28:02.:28:05.

Difficult conditions? We need to be a bit safer, a bit more

:28:06.:28:11.

conservative. Hopefully we will put Castleford under pressure. They will

:28:12.:28:14.

find it hard to play today, and that was a game plan for us. They have

:28:15.:28:18.

some real talent on their edges, but we need to defend really well, and

:28:19.:28:23.

that is what we will do. What are the key areas today? Looking at the

:28:24.:28:27.

conditions, it is going to be wet, no doubt about that. The kicking

:28:28.:28:30.

game, controlling possession and field position is going to be huge,

:28:31.:28:35.

and taking your chances, that will not be too many, I would have

:28:36.:28:40.

thought. I do not expected to be a high-scoring affair. We will need to

:28:41.:28:45.

take our chances. We have got the players to do that. Decision-making,

:28:46.:28:48.

in terms of what you do with the ball, is going to be important,

:28:49.:28:51.

because the conditions are. Should we celebrate the fact that today we

:28:52.:28:57.

have two coaches, two British coaches, who have revitalised the

:28:58.:29:01.

two clubs? Without a doubt we should celebrate that. The squads are full

:29:02.:29:05.

of great English players who are doing a job. They are not just in

:29:06.:29:09.

there because the players are injured. They have got some great

:29:10.:29:13.

English players. Why have they had a bit of a ding-dong this week, the

:29:14.:29:20.

coaches? I don't mind. If it is raising the stakes, it is providing

:29:21.:29:24.

entertainment for us all. Brian fired the first salvo and said they

:29:25.:29:32.

are going there to win. Sean likes to dip into that emotional well all

:29:33.:29:40.

the time and fire up his players. 1.1 Castleford, their last losses

:29:41.:29:44.

have been against St Helens, Leeds and Huddersfield. All topsides. Can

:29:45.:29:52.

they beat a top team? Brian is going to leave here and join the

:29:53.:29:57.

commentary. He is going to go via where the wedding party are having

:29:58.:30:00.

their celebrations and will invite them all around! There has been a

:30:01.:30:07.

bit of needle in the leader to this between the two coaches, nothing

:30:08.:30:10.

wrong with that, it all adds to the hype.

:30:11.:30:19.

Sam Tomkins, mercurial genius! A sensational try!

:30:20.:30:30.

The little man is in! It is try time for Wigan. And a very good try.

:30:31.:30:52.

at home was 1986 and Castleford did the damage. Can they repeat that

:30:53.:30:57.

today? Let's go to our commentary team, Brian Noble, Jonathan Davis

:30:58.:31:02.

and Dave Woods. There's the trophy glimering away.

:31:03.:31:08.

There's a curtain of grey rain hanging over the stadium today.

:31:09.:31:10.

These are the days the sunshine of Wembley seems a long way away.

:31:11.:31:16.

But cut through the gloom and glory awaits for one of these two sides.

:31:17.:31:23.

Should be a really good occasion today. Wigan have a few good names

:31:24.:31:28.

back: Wigan pedigree is impedestrian

:31:29.:32:25.

Kabul. Cas have got their -- is impeccable. Cas have got their class

:32:26.:32:30.

back this year. This should be good. Handling of important on a --

:32:31.:32:36.

importance on a wet day. Bowen looks to test the Castleford defence. Here

:32:37.:32:42.

we go. What are we expecting today? Weather conditions haven't helped.

:32:43.:32:46.

It will be interesting getting the ball out of their own quarter. Wigan

:32:47.:32:57.

are so, so young. They've got to handle the pressure now. Cas very

:32:58.:33:01.

confident at the moment. They're looking for the off-load, it will be

:33:02.:33:06.

a fantastic game. Wigan's youngsters have been one of the stories of the

:33:07.:33:11.

season so far, haven't they? How they've come through and performed

:33:12.:33:15.

on the big stage. They don't come too bigger than this. Ben Flower

:33:16.:33:21.

drives it in. Quarter final of the Tetleys Challenge Cup. A first touch

:33:22.:33:37.

for Castleford here. A couple of early indications there about the

:33:38.:33:42.

attitude of this Wigan team in relation to restricting Castleford's

:33:43.:33:51.

progress. A little bit of spill from the floor.

:33:52.:33:59.

Lynch loves to get the arm free. Plenty of players around him on that

:34:00.:34:08.

occasion. Clark scoot it out. Jowitt, rare start for him today.

:34:09.:34:14.

Liam Finn with a kick over the top. Bowen has to bend and a bit of work

:34:15.:34:23.

to do here. He's an electrifying runner, given space. They can't

:34:24.:34:26.

afford him much room. It will be like a game of chess. The first 20

:34:27.:34:29.

minutes, they won't want to spill the ball in their own half. That

:34:30.:34:33.

will be the priority. The conditions have changed their mind set, from

:34:34.:34:36.

the training in the week. That lovely weather in the week, totally

:34:37.:34:42.

different mind set now. This man keeps his place ahead of

:34:43.:34:47.

Josh Charnley, who is fit today, but has not been selected. Manfredi is

:34:48.:34:54.

the man they stay with. He's working on dual registration to get match

:34:55.:34:57.

sharpness back. That's great for team spirit. If you are playing

:34:58.:35:02.

well, if you have someone like Josh Charnley, he

:35:03.:35:04.

well, if you have someone like Josh to get back in. A little pressure on

:35:05.:35:14.

the kick. It's kept alive here. Still the sixth tackle, but

:35:15.:35:18.

Castleford claim it any way. A knock-on? Yes, there was.

:35:19.:35:26.

It will be Wigan's. Big decision. Good result for Wigan. I think that

:35:27.:35:40.

came off Gelling. It D -- did. I'm not sure if that's the right call.

:35:41.:35:44.

We will have to wait and see. There's an element of controversy

:35:45.:35:51.

about it. But it's Wigan who have position. We talk about the

:35:52.:35:54.

youngsters coming through. We class Farrell as a veteran these days -

:35:55.:35:56.

he's only 23 for heaven's sake! Wigan ranging forward again here.

:35:57.:36:15.

Look how close they're getting. Castleford fans sit behind those

:36:16.:36:18.

sticks, they're looking to help their defenders. O'Loughlin, there's

:36:19.:36:23.

that rule that's been causing a lot of controversy this year,

:36:24.:36:27.

obstruction. They railly have to do something about that, don't they?

:36:28.:36:32.

Was that obstruction? That is obstruction. He impeded the defender

:36:33.:36:37.

there. We've discuss aid few, at the game -- discussed a few, at the game

:36:38.:36:40.

last night. It needs clearing up for everybody. For me that was

:36:41.:36:44.

obstruction. If you've got time to adjust in the defensive line and

:36:45.:36:47.

push out, then you've got to leave it go. It's just getting ridiculous

:36:48.:36:54.

now. I agree entirely. You're taking the easy option, running into

:36:55.:36:57.

defenders. It's not what the game is about.

:36:58.:37:02.

Huby clobbered. Three of them, it's a feature of Wigan's defence, that

:37:03.:37:09.

Huby clobbered. Three of them, it's Castleford don't do bat at it -- bad

:37:10.:37:14.

at it either. They all know how to bend their backs and get dirty. I

:37:15.:37:17.

think the kicking game will be crucial today.

:37:18.:37:24.

Especially in your own half. Sixth tackle coming up, Finn will

:37:25.:37:34.

hoist it high. It's gone out of play by a long, long way.

:37:35.:37:40.

Daryl Powell won't be happy with that. They worked hard to get to

:37:41.:37:43.

that field position. That's a wasted kick at the end of the set.

:37:44.:37:54.

They have some history here, Castleford. Ancient history in terms

:37:55.:38:02.

of the cup. The last team to win in Wigan in the Challenge Cup, back in

:38:03.:38:05.

1986. They've won their last two Wigan in the Challenge Cup, back in

:38:06.:38:12.

game here last June, 18-4. Earlier this year, they won at Castleford,

:38:13.:38:18.

36-31 in a thrilling game. The first ever rugby league game here, in

:38:19.:38:24.

1999, on this ground, Castleford won that one, a play-off game.

:38:25.:38:39.

One of nine Wigan players have been named in the England training squad

:38:40.:38:44.

this week. Matty Smith is another. He will put

:38:45.:38:50.

the kick in. Is it covered? Yes. Great catch from

:38:51.:38:53.

Clare. Good take. They're struggling to

:38:54.:39:12.

find yards for their own line here Castleford. That will help.

:39:13.:39:18.

He wanted a penalty the first time around. He thought he was whacked

:39:19.:39:28.

around the head. It's this play that Gil Dudson impeded Craig Huby.

:39:29.:39:53.

Clark is sharp. They've got a bit of room here.

:39:54.:40:00.

Shenton stepping back down the middle. Desperate Wigan defending

:40:01.:40:06.

led by Gelling. Castleford have momentum here. Rolling forward

:40:07.:40:08.

again. Two tackles to go.

:40:09.:40:20.

Less than 20 metres to cover. Not a good option there. Slowed the whole

:40:21.:40:24.

movement down. This has to be a precise kick. Clark back to Sneyd.

:40:25.:40:28.

He tries to thread one there. Bowen is down there as well. It's a

:40:29.:40:32.

difficult take on this kind of pitch. You can't mess about. You

:40:33.:40:37.

just have to get down, take the ball and start again. The one big

:40:38.:40:41.

difference with me with Castleford this year, is that the confidence is

:40:42.:40:47.

one thing. But you can see they believe when they come to places and

:40:48.:40:49.

beat sides. Pick up by Williams. He's going to

:40:50.:41:00.

have a go. Gelling slides back and just about retains. Misread that

:41:01.:41:07.

Bateman. Last tackle. Wigan have to kick. Smith under pressure gets it

:41:08.:41:12.

away. Taken on the full by Dixon. That gives him a yard or two. Up to

:41:13.:41:16.

the halfway line. That's great pressure by Castleford. Put the

:41:17.:41:20.

kicker under pressure. Now they're starting their set near the halfway

:41:21.:41:24.

line. Sneyd put the pressure on, disrupted the kick and Dixon the

:41:25.:41:29.

ability to claim the ball in the Wigan half. Three tackles gone.

:41:30.:41:39.

Inside Wigan territory. Oliver Holmes comes on.

:41:40.:41:44.

I think they're controlling their off-loads as well. They've had so

:41:45.:41:48.

many off-loads this year. Now conditions - Oh, forward pass for

:41:49.:41:57.

Sneyd. Adjudicated obstruction I think. He has, penalty. Let's have a

:41:58.:42:02.

look. Yeah, clear obstruction again. If you know they're clamping down on

:42:03.:42:18.

it, you've got to think of something else to do. You have to put it

:42:19.:42:22.

through the hands maybe. They have to be different. The ref is going to

:42:23.:42:25.

blow straight away. Line speed is very good from both

:42:26.:42:34.

sides at the moment. We expect that in the first ten minutes of each

:42:35.:42:36.

half. Good contest, this. Shenton desperately hanging on.

:42:37.:42:57.

Clare got in there as well, as did Holmes.

:42:58.:43:03.

Matty Bowen and Matt Smith. Smith up to the line.

:43:04.:43:09.

Castleford's defence is shaping up here.

:43:10.:43:16.

What was that? Not a very good kick. He's happy. A salute from the

:43:17.:43:28.

Castleford tiger. Look at the pressure. He's going against the

:43:29.:43:31.

grain with the kick. That's a difficult kick. You've got to stand

:43:32.:43:34.

still. If you're running across the field and trying to put that in the

:43:35.:43:38.

air, that's a tough kick to do, a tough skill. It should have come off

:43:39.:43:42.

his left foot and then banged it high. You'd have expected better,

:43:43.:43:48.

though. Yeah, but, you know. It's a rare mistake. It is a rare mistake.

:43:49.:43:54.

I'll accept one of those every now and again from Sean O'Loughlin.

:43:55.:44:06.

At the moment, there's nothing happening for them.

:44:07.:44:17.

Clark off and running. He's almost through. The recovering effort from

:44:18.:44:21.

Flower to bring him down. The chip goes in again.

:44:22.:44:46.

Burgess has missed! It was lucky for him it came off the boot of Dixon.

:44:47.:44:49.

He got away with that. He got away with. It he lost this in the air. He

:44:50.:44:55.

took his eyes off it. That mistake could have been punished. Got away

:44:56.:45:04.

with this. There you go, Burgess clearly spills it. Has he played

:45:05.:45:09.

that, Dixon? Or did it just hit his heel? It's come off Dixon. Yeah.

:45:10.:45:46.

Was it raining in Cardiff today? Yes, all the way up. You can see

:45:47.:45:52.

what they are trying to do, every tackle they are trying to go for the

:45:53.:46:01.

ball. The tension retention has been good by both sides.

:46:02.:46:13.

Not too much on the left-hand side, Marc Sneyd will have to

:46:14.:46:33.

Not too much on the left-hand side, something happen. Ten metres away,

:46:34.:46:38.

how good is his boot? He knocks it on! They are having a look at this.

:46:39.:46:51.

Two knock-ons. Years so unlucky. He did not expect the ball to come out,

:46:52.:46:56.

he courted by surprise and then he dropped it.

:46:57.:47:02.

We have got the video referee. We are making sure everyone is

:47:03.:47:10.

We have got the video referee. We to start with. Freeze it on the

:47:11.:47:14.

kick. Everyone is on site. We can carry on. To me, you could class

:47:15.:47:25.

that as Wigan doing a charge-down, not a knock-on. I need an angle in

:47:26.:47:33.

there a lot closer. Rising ball, Wigan man touches the ball. That

:47:34.:47:36.

there a lot closer. Rising ball, a charge-down. That is not a

:47:37.:47:39.

knock-on by Wigan. Then it does touch the Castleford man, who loses

:47:40.:47:44.

the ball forwards in a field of play, so it is going to be no dry,

:47:45.:47:52.

the ball forwards in a field of Wigan. It is going to be interesting

:47:53.:47:55.

to hear the Castleford reaction to this! I think that is the wrong

:47:56.:48:03.

decision. That is not a charge-down. He has played that ball, and that is

:48:04.:48:06.

decision. That is not a charge-down. a knock-on. That should be a

:48:07.:48:10.

decision. That is not a charge-down. Castleford scrum, attacking scrum. A

:48:11.:48:13.

charge-down is when you go for the kick and you are rushing acid.

:48:14.:48:15.

charge-down is when you go for the is not a charge-down in my eyes.

:48:16.:48:18.

charge-down is when you go for the explanation of the rule is there,

:48:19.:48:22.

the borders of the boot and it is rising. It is nothing

:48:23.:48:26.

the borders of the boot and it is charging the ball down! That is the

:48:27.:48:36.

114 Castleford. Just to be clear, it was never a dry. It should have been

:48:37.:48:51.

an attacking scrum for Castleford. The kicking game has been important,

:48:52.:48:54.

because opportunities come both from kicks.

:48:55.:49:25.

Two tackles to go, Wigan ranging close ear. Down the blindside. Both

:49:26.:49:41.

Wigan are attacking down their right hand side, and Castleford want to

:49:42.:49:44.

attack down their left-hand side. Maybe they would -- the reason is

:49:45.:49:53.

that they are trying to hide Marc Sneyd a bit. He is pivotal in the

:49:54.:49:59.

kicking game. They might be trying to take some Jews out of him. --

:50:00.:50:03.

some Jews. There have not been many mistakes.

:50:04.:50:25.

That is the first one. A good attacking position for Wigan.

:50:26.:50:34.

The errors are beginning to mount up, not that there have been many.

:50:35.:50:44.

Three apiece, the errors so far. Here is Bateman, John Bateman. He is

:50:45.:51:01.

still only 20. He has had a terrific season, in his debut season here for

:51:02.:51:11.

Wigan. An obstruction. Every time you hear the referee's whistle, you

:51:12.:51:13.

can guess that it is an obstruction. I am still worried about the

:51:14.:51:26.

charge-down, let alone these obstructions. We're watching that,

:51:27.:51:31.

and by the letter of the law, he has run behind a defender, so it is an

:51:32.:51:34.

obstruction, so we can understand that. Somebody will throw able but

:51:35.:51:45.

at me, but in the spirit of the game... You have to have empathy for

:51:46.:51:50.

the game sometimes. Clark is such a dangerous runner. He

:51:51.:52:01.

spots the opportunity and start away. The word on the street if he

:52:02.:52:05.

is on his way to Warrington next He has a chance! He can't keep a

:52:06.:52:17.

hold of it. Free play. Advantage here.

:52:18.:52:28.

They make a mistake straightaway and give possession back to Castleford.

:52:29.:52:32.

Fairly whale -- well played I am not sure there. It is a

:52:33.:52:47.

difficult ball, difficult pass. There is the blade, the ball, very

:52:48.:52:53.

clumsy. Trying to be a bit too quick, lost to the control, and now

:52:54.:52:59.

they are under pressure again. And would have been tempted on the great

:53:00.:53:03.

pass from Hauraki dispute in on this wet surface. He is eight big winner.

:53:04.:53:08.

Matty Bowen is not the best defensive fullback. You have to have

:53:09.:53:13.

a go at him. What about what comes next? Castleford I'm position, less

:53:14.:53:18.

than ten metres away. Clark picks it up and throws it back to Liam Finn.

:53:19.:53:24.

This dedicated Liam Finn. -- the steady headed Liam Finn.

:53:25.:53:49.

He hits the line. Wigan's defence wins it. I thought the tackle was

:53:50.:53:59.

complete. Again, it did not need to miss the player. They created the

:54:00.:54:04.

overlap, and yet they missed a player. A lot of players tend to do

:54:05.:54:11.

this. They throw a long pass and miss someone out it through their

:54:12.:54:14.

hands if you have created the numbers! It was that second effort

:54:15.:54:21.

in the tackle. Yes, a good decision. Wigan's defence has been

:54:22.:54:25.

impenetrable at times in the Super League this year. They will need to

:54:26.:54:29.

get that great here to keep Castleford at with a repeat effect

:54:30.:54:30.

on their line. It looked forward from our angle. A

:54:31.:54:45.

lot of pressure. In a game of momentum, you feel with this

:54:46.:54:51.

pressure, Castleford should have something on the scoreboard.

:54:52.:54:57.

It is hard to argue. They defended well there, Wigan, because they had

:54:58.:55:02.

to. They still have some hard yards to

:55:03.:55:14.

do here, Wigan, to escape their own area, their own end of the pitch.

:55:15.:55:38.

Castleford has played very controlled rugby in the first 21

:55:39.:55:43.

minutes. It is Matty Smith you will truly

:55:44.:55:52.

forward. A good kick. It is slow. They are going to kick

:55:53.:56:35.

early. It is not a good kick. Advantage Wigan there, and the last

:56:36.:56:39.

few kicking game saw Smith clear. Owen brings it straight back in.

:56:40.:56:49.

A rushed kick and then a penalty. We spoke about momentum. Now it is

:56:50.:57:00.

Wigan's opportunity. The attack was complete. Daryl Powell said before

:57:01.:57:10.

the game, it would not be a high-scoring game, and his words are

:57:11.:57:14.

being acted out here. Wigan will sense that they have an opportunity

:57:15.:57:18.

now. Bateman is only five metres away. He has lost it!

:57:19.:57:37.

Five mistakes each. Queue stretching for it. It is not the path you want.

:57:38.:57:44.

He is the one who is going to run the show. The pass has got to be the

:57:45.:57:53.

breadbasket for him. So pretentious, new hardbacks! You can get in touch

:57:54.:58:03.

with us on Facebook and Insta grammar.

:58:04.:58:12.

Bradford against Warrington tomorrow, and you can hear the

:58:13.:58:14.

semifinal draw very soon. We know witness in -- Widnes and

:58:15.:58:38.

Leeds are there. Will it be Wigan or Castleford, Bradford or Warrington

:58:39.:58:39.

to follow them? The thing about Boeing, he looks

:58:40.:59:06.

safe on the high ball. I know he was not

:59:07.:59:06.

safe on the high ball. I know he was but he looks very solid underneath

:59:07.:59:13.

that high ball. You have got to put it up there and compete for it.

:59:14.:59:28.

Now it is Wigan with the upper hand. Can they create something?

:59:29.:59:37.

They have only got a couple of tackles left here. They have 30

:59:38.:59:42.

metres to cover. He just overcooked it. We have seen

:59:43.:00:00.

a couple of those. O'Loughlin early in the game lets the pressure up.

:00:01.:00:06.

There we see Williams, whose touch was not quite good enough. How

:00:07.:00:09.

difficult is it for George Williams today? He is a hardback by

:00:10.:00:15.

inclination. He has been playing a dummy half this year. How difficult

:00:16.:00:23.

is it to swap positions back again? He grew up as a half back. But he's

:00:24.:00:28.

exciting out of the dummy half position. He's not alien in the

:00:29.:00:32.

reserve grade, he's been playing in the half. He's used to it. That was

:00:33.:00:40.

a poor kick. What about this? Andy Lynch has made a terrific break.

:00:41.:00:44.

What about that from Matty Bowen, who says, "You're going no further

:00:45.:00:46.

than this, son." That's Cas' ball. What's he giving?

:00:47.:01:08.

Got to be a Cas scrum. Yes. Going back to Williams, this is a break,

:01:09.:01:15.

lovely break. Unfortunately, he didn't get the support. Oh, Matty

:01:16.:01:19.

Bowen! Good luck to George Williams. The

:01:20.:01:34.

difference is the kicking so different from acting half and first

:01:35.:01:39.

sever. The touch on the run from first sever, it's a tougher kick, I

:01:40.:01:42.

think. Oliver Holmes ten metres away.

:01:43.:01:48.

It's attritional. And Luke Dorn slides in. There is a question mark

:01:49.:02:00.

hanging over whether he has got the try or not. That's a brilliant play.

:02:01.:02:04.

They've done it on numerous occasions and create the overlap. On

:02:05.:02:10.

this occasion, it's a goal. Luke Dorn has been watching this, instead

:02:11.:02:15.

of mikeshifting the passes, he's gone. Let's hear what the

:02:16.:02:25.

adjudication is. We're looking for obstruction. That's fine. It's the

:02:26.:02:29.

next one. That one he goes across that way. Can we just go back to

:02:30.:02:39.

that, please? Right, this is just the one we have to look. It's the

:02:40.:02:44.

line that he takes. Does he continue in through the gap or go across to

:02:45.:02:51.

the left-hand side, which pretends 27 getting across that way, which

:02:52.:03:00.

and then he comes back through that gap. That's no try. That's

:03:01.:03:08.

obstruction. The championship side fans are not going to be happy with

:03:09.:03:12.

this. That is one of the toughest ones

:03:13.:03:16.

I've seen. He runs the outside shoulder, so

:03:17.:03:22.

stops the defensive drifts. That's the first thing. That's such a tough

:03:23.:03:27.

call. Would he have got there, I'm not sure. That's the reaction. I'm

:03:28.:03:31.

not sure if he would have got there any way or whether he wanted to go

:03:32.:03:34.

there. That will be interesting for the boys in studio at halftime. I

:03:35.:03:38.

think that is a tough call. That is a tough call for the TMO as well.

:03:39.:03:46.

My little pound of flesh would be it was the pace of Dorn that got him

:03:47.:03:51.

over the line, not the poor decision or impedestrian yak of Hauraki. I

:03:52.:03:59.

think he would have got there -- impediment. Stay tuned at halftime.

:04:00.:04:04.

They'll discuss that, I'm sure. The game goes on. Wigan have made a

:04:05.:04:09.

mistake which has given Castleford head and feed at the scrum. Five

:04:10.:04:16.

metres inside the Wigan half. On the balance of play, Dave,

:04:17.:04:20.

Castleford probably deserved that score. We see it here. I think

:04:21.:04:24.

Castleford probably deserved that is in there. It's half a poor read

:04:25.:04:29.

from Williams any way. You've got to run the inside shoulder maybe. You

:04:30.:04:33.

can't just change your angle of running to stop him drifting. The

:04:34.:04:39.

big talking point, no TV cameras here today, that would have been a

:04:40.:04:43.

tryment That would have been a try. We'll get in touch with it on the

:04:44.:04:49.

red button, on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, whichever you like. I

:04:50.:04:53.

think, at this stage, Castleford look the more threatening team. Yes.

:04:54.:04:55.

Very creative. He's got to come into the game more,

:04:56.:05:06.

Luke Dorn. The passing play has been very good by Castleford. They need

:05:07.:05:10.

someone like Dorn to come in and cut the line.

:05:11.:05:14.

This is going to be a penalty. Yes, it is. Stolen, the referee says.

:05:15.:05:17.

Would you take two here, in light it is. Stolen, the referee says.

:05:18.:05:20.

the closeness of the game and quality of the defences? Ten

:05:21.:05:29.

minutes, I would. David Woods has screwed his face up here. That's his

:05:30.:05:32.

normal face. Shenton! And into the corner goes

:05:33.:05:49.

James Clare. Surely there's no doubt this time. Yes, there is. Oh, yes,

:05:50.:05:58.

there is. What can there be now? Michael Shenton having a word with

:05:59.:06:01.

the referee. What are you looking for here? Obstruction is what he's

:06:02.:06:09.

looking for. Let's hear again. Let's have a look at this. We're looking

:06:10.:06:14.

at the lead runner, to see where he hits the Wigan player. If he goes to

:06:15.:06:19.

him at that point, the ball is on the far side and the Wigan player

:06:20.:06:24.

comes out to the Castleford man. Can we look from behind the post,

:06:25.:06:31.

please? Slow this really down. That first lead runner, where does he hit

:06:32.:06:36.

him? That is caught on the far side and the Wigan man goes to him.

:06:37.:06:43.

That's that one. So, that's fine. Keep that going. Can we take that

:06:44.:06:49.

one back. Jog it back, make sure he does catch it on the outside, which

:06:50.:06:53.

I think he does. The Wigan man goes to him. He's caught on the far side

:06:54.:07:01.

of him. He's not run behind the man. Let's jog this on. I'm happy, that's

:07:02.:07:06.

not obstruction. Yeah, just go to the grounding. That's a try.

:07:07.:07:22.

Championship side fans will-this one.

:07:23.:07:28.

They loved that one. Is there a difference between Dorn's try and

:07:29.:07:34.

that try? Well, other than the fact that they're going different sides

:07:35.:07:37.

of the field and different try scorers. It's very difficult. You're

:07:38.:07:42.

asking if the defender made a play at the attacking player? I don't

:07:43.:07:46.

think so. There is an element of confusion around this. The officials

:07:47.:07:52.

will tell you this is what the coaches asked for. But, my

:07:53.:07:57.

suggestion, make the referee make the judgment on the field. Only use

:07:58.:08:04.

the video referee for the hard and fast decisions. Leave that to the

:08:05.:08:07.

judgment of the referee. Irrespective of the cause

:08:08.:08:10.

previously, they deserve to be in front now. They have controlled most

:08:11.:08:19.

of the game. They deserve to be in front.

:08:20.:08:23.

Here is Marc Sneyd. Don't adjust your sets. This really is his

:08:24.:08:29.

kicking style. He's aiming his body at somewhere at Row Z in the stand

:08:30.:08:33.

opposite the sticks he's kicking at. A little look over his shoulder to

:08:34.:08:37.

make sure the sticks are still there, at risk of falling over. But

:08:38.:08:42.

when he kicks it like that, who can argue with that style? It's amazing,

:08:43.:08:49.

because what he effectively is doing is narrowing the angle to make a

:08:50.:08:53.

harder kick. It's a great kick, great execution, but he makes it so

:08:54.:08:57.

much harder for himself. It's brilliant, brilliant radar he must

:08:58.:09:02.

have. Brilliant. Have a look at this. You don't quite get it. He

:09:03.:09:07.

comes running right round, almost 180 degrees.

:09:08.:09:22.

It's a proper old cup tie here today.

:09:23.:09:32.

Tell you what, they look comfortable as well. They look very comfortable

:09:33.:09:56.

dummy half. Good chase. They're back towards the

:09:57.:10:07.

20-metre mark. There's a bit of controversy

:10:08.:10:19.

building up to the try as well. Did Michael Shenton lose the ball there?

:10:20.:10:23.

Yes, he didment And he knows it as well. He's

:10:24.:10:27.

looking around isn't he. That was in the build up to that last try.

:10:28.:10:34.

In the cut and thrust of a came, these things happen.

:10:35.:10:38.

There's a hand in there from Webster. Because of that the penalty

:10:39.:10:45.

has gone. He's complaining. Should have got his arm out. He's clearly

:10:46.:10:49.

claiming for that. Webster saying his arm is trapped. The referee said

:10:50.:10:55.

- get your hand out of there then. To do that, he had to pull the ball

:10:56.:10:56.

out. You haven't seen a lot of the Wigan

:10:57.:11:12.

half backs, have you? Dom Crosby is only 24. He's very, very tender.

:11:13.:11:15.

He could be the danger. Wigan looking for a response P

:11:16.:11:38.

they'll hope, it's before the halftime hooter sounds. Farrell

:11:39.:11:44.

down-the-line side. Finn hanging on again.

:11:45.:11:49.

Castleford' defensive line is being put to the test here.

:11:50.:11:58.

It's taken by Manfredi. He's done really well. There was no Castleford

:11:59.:12:04.

hand on it. It is still the same set. One more tackle to go.

:12:05.:12:10.

The kick is straight to Luke dosh and -- Dorn and Castleford survive.

:12:11.:12:21.

I think Anthony Gelling against Sneyd, that's the one you were

:12:22.:12:27.

pointing out, that's one they have to isolate, the one on one.

:12:28.:12:37.

The Challenge Cup holders are being given a real tough examination of

:12:38.:12:44.

their determination to keep ahold of that trophy this season.

:12:45.:13:06.

Oh, good tackle. Didn't miss. He's a good player, an Unsung Hero

:13:07.:13:14.

in this Castleford team. He does 50 tackles a game and lays the right

:13:15.:13:19.

line. Haven't mentioned him much, but look at his work rate.

:13:20.:13:30.

Really tough young kid, John Bateman. Crosby getting just beyond

:13:31.:13:39.

the halfway line. Near the try line, that could be the

:13:40.:13:52.

area that Wigan go to. Great take! A towering presence.

:13:53.:14:05.

Great catch. Didn't have much help from his escorting players, that's

:14:06.:14:08.

the players coming back to protect the kicker on the catch. He just got

:14:09.:14:14.

the ball and big relief for the Castleford team. He kept his eyes on

:14:15.:14:18.

it. Good hit.

:14:19.:14:24.

I think he was injured there. I thought he was through. You have to

:14:25.:14:31.

compliment Castleford because they have curbed their instincts of the

:14:32.:14:37.

off-load. They've been disciplined in their own half. Lynch crawled a

:14:38.:14:45.

couple of metres here. A great kick, right in that corner. There's no way

:14:46.:14:48.

out. Wigan struggling get players back to

:14:49.:14:58.

play the ball here. What can Burgess do? It's been an absorbing first

:14:59.:15:06.

half. Yeah, really good. You think Castleford have slightly the upper

:15:07.:15:09.

hand. There's nothing between these two If you sides. Look at the body

:15:10.:15:13.

language of the Wigan players, you'd say it was an exhausting first half,

:15:14.:15:19.

as well. Knock-on. Last chance. This is a big

:15:20.:15:27.

set, this is. If Cas don't get anything from this, it will be a

:15:28.:15:37.

tremendous first half for them. A good effort from Jamie Ellis. They

:15:38.:15:44.

stopped the clock once the scrum is formed. One minutes and 20 seconds,

:15:45.:15:54.

which is ample time for Castleford to get a full set.

:15:55.:16:04.

Battered forward again by Lynch. Do they think about a drop goal here?

:16:05.:16:23.

Maybe. Farrell had hold of Millington's

:16:24.:16:44.

hips. Skipping away... A brilliant tackle, that is. A brilliant,

:16:45.:16:54.

brilliant tackle. Still wrestling forward. Penalty goes against

:16:55.:17:05.

Castleford. A great tackle. Lost the ball. A super tackle from Bateman.

:17:06.:17:13.

This is going to go wide, I think. Here come Wigan with the last play.

:17:14.:17:33.

Burgesses offside here. He is happy to take the tackle. That is the end

:17:34.:17:39.

of what has been a thrilling, absorbing first half for both sides,

:17:40.:17:45.

but a very satisfying first half for Castleford. They are the side that

:17:46.:17:54.

lead by 6-0 in what is an absolutely compelling cup tie. Here is Tanya

:17:55.:17:57.

Arnold on the touchline. Michael Shenton, has the first half gone the

:17:58.:18:04.

way you wanted it? It is a low scoring game, all about defence. We

:18:05.:18:10.

will keep doing what we're doing. Disappointed you are not further

:18:11.:18:14.

ahead? Not so much. We have just got to get on with it. Cheers, Michael.

:18:15.:18:22.

Michael Shenton off down the tunnel. He said it has been a battle, only

:18:23.:18:34.

six points scored in the first half. 46 points were scored in the first

:18:35.:18:40.

of another Wigan match. Castleford dominate possession, head on

:18:41.:18:48.

territory as well, and Wigan's said completion is only just over 50%.

:18:49.:18:53.

They have made seven errors to Castleford's six. You can get in

:18:54.:18:56.

touch with others, on social media, on Facebook, on Twitter. Describe

:18:57.:19:04.

the game in four words and we will read them out for you. Michael

:19:05.:19:09.

Shenton, Jon Wilkin said that was exactly how they thought that was

:19:10.:19:14.

going to go. It went the way that everybody predicted it would go,

:19:15.:19:17.

with the conditions and the two size playing today, it was a tight game.

:19:18.:19:23.

Castleford will be pleased with their format clean breaks -- format

:19:24.:19:31.

clean breaks. Wigan have really struggled to get anything going.

:19:32.:19:37.

They have had in Kent and energy, but the majority by too many errors.

:19:38.:19:41.

They have had in Kent and energy, Castleford really dominated that

:19:42.:19:47.

offer. Wigan ran out of form against whose field last week and they have

:19:48.:19:52.

continued that. They had forced errors, people dropping balls and

:19:53.:19:56.

kicking balls straight into touch. Castleford have been fantastic. An

:19:57.:20:00.

absorbing game, I have really enjoyed this half. Form and energy

:20:01.:20:05.

are linked. Once you've run out of form, you run out of energy, effort

:20:06.:20:12.

and enthusiasm. Wigan are close to producing a poor performance here. I

:20:13.:20:16.

always think that a team coached by Shaun Wane will always have a lot of

:20:17.:20:19.

energy and commitment, but they are down on skill at the moment. Lots of

:20:20.:20:22.

traffic on social down on skill at the moment. Lots of

:20:23.:20:25.

obstruction. One says, the obstruction. One says, the

:20:26.:20:35.

Talk this through why one of these was a try and one wasn't. In the

:20:36.:20:38.

first instance, what was a try and one wasn't. In the

:20:39.:20:43.

here is the player that we saw before the game, we highlighted

:20:44.:20:49.

Castleford playing. Then we have another player running to stop the

:20:50.:20:54.

third offender in from making a good decision. In

:20:55.:20:57.

third offender in from making a good Smith, the third defender, makes a

:20:58.:21:02.

great defensive decision. He is punished for making a good defensive

:21:03.:21:06.

decision with a tackle. If Matty Smith had paused and made contact

:21:07.:21:07.

with the Smith had paused and made contact

:21:08.:21:11.

him, he would have been pulled back for obstruction, and that is what is

:21:12.:21:17.

wrong about it. And this one, if we go back, Hauraki runs in the same

:21:18.:21:20.

direction as the defender, as it goes in here. The number 12 needs to

:21:21.:21:25.

come back in. Then there is no obstruction there. It is right to be

:21:26.:21:36.

no try, that. It makes it an easy decision for the referee to give.

:21:37.:21:40.

But the driver was given, Matty Smith did fantastically well. This

:21:41.:21:49.

is not a black and white rule. It has more shades of grey than my

:21:50.:21:54.

hair! There are that many different occasions that you can apply it, it

:21:55.:22:01.

is hard to judge. The spectators, people at home, ourselves, we are

:22:02.:22:04.

all confused by this rule, because all of a sudden... These kinds of

:22:05.:22:12.

things are being coached every day. Should you enforce this to the

:22:13.:22:16.

letter of the law, 90% of Rugby League players would be pulled up

:22:17.:22:19.

for obstruction. If that is the way we want to go, fine, let's get

:22:20.:22:24.

everyone around the table and say, this is obstruction and let's

:22:25.:22:34.

eradicated from the game. It confuses people like yourself, quite

:22:35.:22:41.

clearly! Yes! In order to try to simplify it for me so I am less

:22:42.:22:45.

confused, take us through some more examples. I will continue first.

:22:46.:22:50.

That is a definite obstruction there. It is a bit slower. But as

:22:51.:22:56.

you can see, everything is different. It is not an obstruction

:22:57.:23:01.

because Anthony Gelling made the decision to come in and tackle the

:23:02.:23:05.

player in front of him. The difference is when the defender does

:23:06.:23:07.

not have the option to tackle the guy. He is forced to. Again, this

:23:08.:23:17.

would have been play on. Six weeks ago, that would have been play on.

:23:18.:23:20.

They have clamped down in the middle of the year. Weller Hauraki, if he

:23:21.:23:26.

had stayed square and cut back on the inside shoulder... And without

:23:27.:23:29.

the replay, that would have been a try.

:23:30.:23:35.

This must also be confusing you, the players, mustn't it? And the

:23:36.:23:42.

coaches. Because if you are being coached to do moves in a certain way

:23:43.:23:46.

and yet all of a sudden the referees or whoever is in charge are deciding

:23:47.:23:51.

to enforce the obstruction will, that creates confusion everywhere.

:23:52.:23:55.

Yes. What it allows the defence to do is take an easy option and,

:23:56.:23:59.

knowing on a TV game, if you touch an attacking player coming near you,

:24:00.:24:05.

when it goes to the video referee, you know it is going to come back.

:24:06.:24:10.

That places the fluidity of a game or the result of an attacking play

:24:11.:24:14.

in the hands of a defender who is making a poor decision. It is not in

:24:15.:24:20.

the spirit of the game, for me. It is cheating, using technology to

:24:21.:24:23.

cheat. If you have been beaten by good play, hold your hands up and

:24:24.:24:29.

get on with it. Do not try to get an obstruction. We have another

:24:30.:24:35.

defeat, oh, dear, this obstruction rule is bad. If you can't play the

:24:36.:24:40.

game properly at the moment. A bad call on the first try. It needs

:24:41.:24:45.

addressing quickly. Let's get onto some of the other aspects of the

:24:46.:24:49.

game and how we can have targeted Huby, something we spoke about at

:24:50.:24:54.

the start. We highlighted him as an indicator for Castleford, but also

:24:55.:24:57.

you can see how many defenders are coming in from Wigan, because Shaun

:24:58.:25:00.

Wane highlighted him earlier in the week. We have McIlorum communion,

:25:01.:25:06.

because he knows that it is danger when he carries the ball. Wigan have

:25:07.:25:14.

had intent. They have just not had execution. With execution alongside

:25:15.:25:23.

intent, Wigan could have a better second half. I think the problem

:25:24.:25:29.

with the errors is that they have been enforced. When you are passing

:25:30.:25:35.

balls close to the line, but some of these have been awful errors. Matty

:25:36.:25:39.

Smith there, a tough kick because he is under pressure. O'Loughlin is not

:25:40.:25:44.

used to taking as much kicking responsibility. But now he has to

:25:45.:25:53.

do. A sloppy piece of play. I have been in this position before as a

:25:54.:25:56.

player, when your team are out of form a player, when your team are

:25:57.:25:59.

out of form anew by trying to put it right, but things just do not go

:26:00.:26:02.

right. People getting your way and get frustrated.

:26:03.:26:08.

They did not think that was a penalty at the time. Too many

:26:09.:26:13.

errors. You can handle several, but wouldn't have made many today,

:26:14.:26:20.

seven. Relative to Castleford, it is only one more, but relative to

:26:21.:26:24.

Wigan, it is a huge amount. Castleford's have been down the

:26:25.:26:27.

other end of the pitch. We can's have been all over the park. --

:26:28.:26:36.

Wigan's has been all over the park. It is easy to say, when you don't

:26:37.:26:39.

play the game, just click at the errors and you will have a better

:26:40.:26:43.

second half, but you must have been in situations where it spreads

:26:44.:26:50.

throughout 18? Yes, it can almost be like a virus. But the leaders need

:26:51.:26:53.

to come out and be like a virus. But the leaders need

:26:54.:26:57.

are always three or four Mac leaders in a team, and they can be

:26:58.:27:04.

confident, these other guys will put confidence throughout the team, not

:27:05.:27:16.

errors. Liam Finn will be important for Castleford, controlling the game

:27:17.:27:19.

and kicking the ball into the corners. It will be crucial in the

:27:20.:27:22.

second half. Whoever makes the least amount of errors in the second half

:27:23.:27:27.

will go on to win the game. And in wet weather, six point more like 12.

:27:28.:27:33.

Points are at a premium. I think that Castleford are doing very well

:27:34.:27:37.

at the moment. What about Marc Sneyd? We highlighted his kicking

:27:38.:27:41.

before the game, and he kicked a fantastic goal as well. I think they

:27:42.:27:46.

have consciously targeted Wigan's right of Castleford. The kicking

:27:47.:27:53.

game, it has got great variation. It is a huge asset to having your,

:27:54.:28:00.

kicking. Never a charge-down for me, this one. But he did drop the ball

:28:01.:28:08.

anyway, so it would not have been a try. Again, attacking the right-hand

:28:09.:28:14.

side. Accurate kicking games League two wins -- lead to wins.

:28:15.:28:30.

Charge-down? You are having a laugh, says Gavin Brown. Funniest looking

:28:31.:28:40.

charge-down I have ever seen, says Mark Prendergast. Keep your tweets

:28:41.:28:49.

coming. The second half is on the way shortly. Now, let's relive one

:28:50.:28:52.

We can's 28-24 win at Wembley in of our Challenge Cup memories.

:28:53.:29:02.

We can's 28-24 win at Wembley in 1985 was an absolute classic. --

:29:03.:29:12.

Wigan's 28-24 win. It was a magnificent day of football,

:29:13.:29:14.

including one of the greatest overseas players. John Ferguson, the

:29:15.:29:18.

Wigan win who grabbed a try. was the battle between Brett Kenny

:29:19.:29:35.

and Peter Sterling. Can he make it all the way? C is

:29:36.:29:46.

going down. There he goes. A superb try from Kenny. It was all Wigan in

:29:47.:29:50.

that first half. He has got the strength and speed!

:29:51.:30:10.

He's going to try. Wigan what in -- Wigan were in complete command until

:30:11.:30:11.

this try. And then a further three tries

:30:12.:30:26.

Wigan have the 4-point advantage and whole

:30:27.:30:34.

Wigan have the 4-point advantage and that was how it remained in the

:30:35.:30:36.

final seconds. what's coming your way: Tomorrow, we

:30:37.:30:54.

have the final quarter final from 3pm on BBC Two.

:30:55.:31:06.

The Canadian Grand Prix is on BBC One from 5pm. February Queen's gets

:31:07.:31:11.

under way on Monday at 1pm on BBC Two. Of course, this time next week,

:31:12.:31:15.

we'll be in the thick of World Cup action. Gary Lineker will be in

:31:16.:31:23.

Brazil with his documentary The Beautiful Game, 10. 35pm, BBC One.

:31:24.:31:28.

Let's go down to the touchline. Both sides are coming back out.

:31:29.:31:30.

I've got sides are coming back out.

:31:31.:31:36.

half, but he's not. Justin Carney, how did you see that first half? It

:31:37.:31:45.

was a great first half. Being a spectator, but it would have been

:31:46.:31:49.

great to be out there What are playing. You expecting Wigan to

:31:50.:31:53.

throw at you guys? I think they're just going to play the Wigan way and

:31:54.:31:57.

be tough and get in the grind with us. We just have to hang in there

:31:58.:32:01.

and it will be a tough challenge for the boys. Try not to get too nervous

:32:02.:32:08.

watching the second half. I'm more nervous today than I've ever been!

:32:09.:32:15.

Enjoy it. Matty Bowen gets this second half

:32:16.:32:19.

under way with a kick that is perilously close to the touch line.

:32:20.:32:29.

All set fair for what should be a terrific second half here, Wigan 0,

:32:30.:32:37.

Castleford 6. So little in it. Who wins it from

:32:38.:32:40.

here? It's a fantastic opportunity for Castleford. But I think we can

:32:41.:32:44.

just see that the weather has cleared a little bit. It's not

:32:45.:32:50.

raining as heavy as it was. Wow, it's been close and a great game.

:32:51.:32:53.

The conditions won't change because it's been, it's very, very wet. The

:32:54.:32:59.

quicking game will be vitally important. It will be interesting to

:33:00.:33:05.

see what Wigan do. Cas look more comfortable, more threatening. Wigan

:33:06.:33:09.

have to step up a bit, cut their mistakes out. They have to change

:33:10.:33:17.

and bring their half backs into it, definitely attack the other half

:33:18.:33:19.

backs, especially Sneyd with -- with Gelling. Another of those

:33:20.:33:34.

nine in the training squad with England. What an impact he's been

:33:35.:33:39.

making this season. It's interesting that first set that Michael McIlorum

:33:40.:33:43.

rushed out of dummy half and put pressure on the kicker. It brought

:33:44.:33:46.

the result that we're seeing, Wigan in the right part of the field.

:33:47.:33:50.

Matty Bowen catches the ball and transfers the ball down field.

:33:51.:33:58.

That's the one. That is the one. They

:33:59.:34:08.

He's going to be caught in possession, is he? The ball has gone

:34:09.:34:20.

to ground. And Castleford have it again.

:34:21.:34:24.

Great play, that is. Desperation to get there.

:34:25.:34:33.

Shenton takes it on. A little bit of disappointment on Shawn's face

:34:34.:34:36.

there. Building pressure will be important this second half.

:34:37.:35:04.

Bowen underneeng it, solid -- underneath it, solid again. Tanya,

:35:05.:35:11.

what news at halftime from the two camps? Daryl Powell very happy with

:35:12.:35:15.

his side, telling them to keep up the focus and pressure. He says they

:35:16.:35:19.

must improve their kicking game that. Will put pressure on Wigan in

:35:20.:35:25.

all areas. Shaun Wane not happy. Completion rate isn't good enough.

:35:26.:35:28.

They're not winning the arm wrestle. We must dominate far better.

:35:29.:35:31.

Penalty. Matty Smith will find touch and puts

:35:32.:35:43.

Wigan, well, less than 30 metres away from that Castleford line.

:35:44.:36:16.

McIlorum picks it up here. It's on. Farrell, misses. Burgess can't keep

:36:17.:36:29.

hold. The line was at his mercy. Again, it's that cut-out pass. Why

:36:30.:36:33.

do you need that there? Hay quick play of the ball. A good run by

:36:34.:36:39.

Bateman. I think he's trying to promote the ball as quickly as he

:36:40.:36:44.

can. It becomes a two on one, rather than three on two, to give the

:36:45.:36:48.

winger the chance to get into the corner with inside defence coming

:36:49.:36:52.

on. Hard to be too critical there. I agree, but they did create the

:36:53.:36:59.

overlap. In a game this tight, you have to finish them.

:37:00.:37:06.

That's gone to ground. Penalty.

:37:07.:37:11.

Interesting chat with a senior referee this week about how much

:37:12.:37:17.

guess work goes on in situations like this. He said it's all about

:37:18.:37:22.

averages, it's the body position of players, as to when it's been lost

:37:23.:37:26.

or stolen. You have to come control of that ball. You can't go in there

:37:27.:37:31.

with a flimsy hold onto it. He didn't do anything, he just fell on

:37:32.:37:34.

it. Castleford with a chance to clear

:37:35.:37:38.

their lines and get back inside this Wigan half again here.

:37:39.:37:43.

Wigan's defence has to be polished. Dorn with a bit of pace here. Oh,

:37:44.:38:00.

Shenton to Sneyd but he went forward. Blew it! Absolutely blew

:38:01.:38:06.

it. They had ripped Wigan wide-open. They were flying through the

:38:07.:38:09.

defence. That's what they've got to do. They have to use Luke Dorn. He

:38:10.:38:18.

has tremendous pace. He goes on the outside. Composure, bad pass. That

:38:19.:38:25.

is a poor pass by Luke Dorn. It's got to be in the bread basket. It's

:38:26.:38:30.

got to be in front of the man. Slightly overrun a little bit.

:38:31.:38:34.

got to be in front of the man. Again, an opportunity missed by

:38:35.:38:42.

Wigan. He thinks so as well. You go 12-0 up, right? It's a big score to

:38:43.:38:46.

pull back. Especially the way they're defending.

:38:47.:38:48.

Wigan survive. Bateman challenging the defenders.

:38:49.:39:09.

Getting a penalty. I just harken back to Daryl Powell's words about

:39:10.:39:12.

taking opportunities in close games like this. Now they're back

:39:13.:39:14.

taking opportunities in close games own try line and Wigan have the

:39:15.:39:17.

taking opportunities in close games opportunity. It's going to be a

:39:18.:39:21.

12-pointer. There's a roar going up round the stadium from the Wigan

:39:22.:39:26.

supporters. Wigan roll forward again here.

:39:27.:39:32.

Good defence. Back it comes down the middle again.

:39:33.:39:49.

Castleford are on their own line here with tackles to go and again,

:39:50.:39:55.

it's a poor pass. Dixon can't keep hold of it. Neither can Burgess. The

:39:56.:40:03.

referee is going to give head and feet to Wigan here. No, Cas. I have

:40:04.:40:17.

no idea what happened there. Not sure, I think he's saying.

:40:18.:40:46.

Ellis has been on the field quite a while now. They're saving Clark up,

:40:47.:40:53.

is this part of the plan and he finishes the game? Clark is not

:40:54.:40:57.

injured. Are they going to bring him on and close the game out?

:40:58.:41:11.

It's a poor, poor kick We've seen again. A few today. What that does

:41:12.:41:20.

is give Wigan terrific advantage here. They get possession back, 30

:41:21.:41:26.

from the Castleford line and a real lift. A side that thought it was

:41:27.:41:29.

going to be defending further down field is now defending. He went for

:41:30.:41:34.

going to be defending further down the 40-20 there. He gave it

:41:35.:41:37.

everything and just slice today. He got the 40-20, just the bounce in

:41:38.:41:39.

between was the problem. Farrell doesn't know where he's

:41:40.:42:00.

going here. Tries to go forward. Farrell doesn't know where he's

:42:01.:42:07.

it halts, temporarily. Bowen waits again.

:42:08.:42:17.

What do Wigan do here? Do they look to keep the pressure on Bowen? It

:42:18.:42:22.

hits the to keep the pressure on Bowen? It

:42:23.:42:28.

player. Wigan will take it. Castleford get the handover. I think

:42:29.:42:35.

Matty Bowen has to attack out wider. Very comfortable Cas at the moment.

:42:36.:42:41.

Big effort required. Wigan desperate to keep Castleford limited.

:42:42.:43:01.

Castleford desperate to escape the clutches, the shackles being put on

:43:02.:43:03.

them in this second half. Again, looking for the gap between

:43:04.:43:27.

the fullback and winger. Make the most of it here.

:43:28.:43:35.

In the first half, when we saw Castleford have three, four, five

:43:36.:43:39.

sets, the ascendency in the right part of the field. That's where I

:43:40.:43:43.

sense Wigan are going to now. Good play of the ball.

:43:44.:43:55.

Bateman battering in. They've slowed that down, the

:43:56.:44:01.

Castleford defenders. The defence has worked very well for

:44:02.:44:21.

Cas. They have struggled out wide. The final tackle. That's rushed.

:44:22.:44:26.

It's poor. Dixon. Oh, if he got Great tack away. Le. Had to be made.

:44:27.:44:39.

Great tackle that is. He was away. Here comes Dixon with a second

:44:40.:44:47.

opportunity. The outstretched arms of Burgess track him down. Look how

:44:48.:44:51.

many yards Castleford have chewed up in this set already. There's still

:44:52.:44:54.

more to come. He's in. ( in this set already. There's still

:44:55.:45:06.

Manfredi. That's a fantastic set for Castleford.

:45:07.:45:14.

Again, it was a poor kick from Wigan, which give Castleford the

:45:15.:45:16.

momentum and look where they've Wigan, which give Castleford the

:45:17.:45:20.

ended up. Great set. Great football from Castleford prepared to move the

:45:21.:45:24.

ball down the short side first, then coming back towards the middle.

:45:25.:45:29.

You're right it's on the back of two poor kicks that they're getting the

:45:30.:45:32.

advantage. That's all it is. The difference here could be Dorn or

:45:33.:45:40.

Bowen. Those two players. Well, there's a noise around this stadium

:45:41.:45:45.

now from both sets of supporters. It's a great cup match. An important

:45:46.:45:55.

spell of the game here. Mariano is immense with his balance falls. --

:45:56.:46:06.

gallant fall. That is the worst pass we have seen all day! I think he

:46:07.:46:12.

made the right play, it was just the execution. A good thing that

:46:13.:46:17.

Castleford through that blind, because they had the numbers. He

:46:18.:46:21.

knows. He is smart enough. What are you saying down on the

:46:22.:46:35.

touchline? The opening 30 minutes of the second half has been relentless

:46:36.:46:42.

-- 13 minutes. Now some of the players have drifted back to the

:46:43.:46:49.

bench. We had full set of Serbs on the sidelines, trying to get onto

:46:50.:46:50.

the pitch themselves. It is not that from appear. But

:46:51.:47:01.

still, 6-0 to Castleford. Here comes a kick from Matty Smith.

:47:02.:47:26.

Spinning end over end, goes up underneath in. He has lost it. It is

:47:27.:47:33.

knocked forward. We didn't get the result. Every geeky but in the air

:47:34.:47:37.

you should be able to compete for and that's the result you get. --

:47:38.:47:40.

every kick you put-in the air. Great pressure from Matty Bowen. He

:47:41.:47:58.

probably saw him in his eyeliner. A chance for Wigan. Ten metres out.

:47:59.:48:06.

Five more titles for Castleford to complete, five more opportunities

:48:07.:48:12.

for Wigan to attack. Definitely building the pressure.

:48:13.:48:22.

He drives it over, but I do not think he has got it down, but he has

:48:23.:48:31.

got a penalty. All steel over the line -- ball steel.

:48:32.:48:43.

He had to get underneath him, didn't he? Yes. He wants to play it

:48:44.:48:50.

quickly. Very nearly a captain's knock.

:48:51.:49:09.

McIlorum from dummy half. Here it comes back to Matty Smith, some

:49:10.:49:17.

depth on it now. Oliver Holmes is always it -- all over it. Here comes

:49:18.:49:28.

Bateman. They have gone through five tackles again here, Wigan. It is

:49:29.:49:32.

going down the right side! Not quite! I thought he was in. I

:49:33.:49:41.

thought he was in as well. He is not going to get closer and not score.

:49:42.:49:45.

But he did not quite get close enough. Castleford's defence.

:49:46.:49:55.

Wigan want to keep Castleford as close as they can.

:49:56.:50:03.

Castleford the ball in hand, but Wigan's

:50:04.:50:09.

defence will not let this opportunity slip easily. In the last

:50:10.:50:16.

five minutes, Sean O'Loughlin has stepped up.

:50:17.:50:24.

He will bring this back with interest and label start another

:50:25.:50:30.

offensive set. They are nearly in the Castleford half, so relentless

:50:31.:50:35.

pressure from within in the second half. -- from Wigan.

:50:36.:50:45.

Missing a little bit of match fitness. This is good from

:50:46.:50:52.

Sarginson. It is kicked away by Williams. Oliver Holmes. A try

:50:53.:51:00.

saving tackle. They have to go left, they have to score. Out it goes.

:51:01.:51:08.

I thought there was a deflection there, slowing the ball down.

:51:09.:51:22.

Five tackles gone. Last play again. Smith with a kick to the corner. It

:51:23.:51:27.

is clear that... Brilliant from both teams,

:51:28.:51:37.

excitement, kicking, catching, six Brilliant from both teams,

:51:38.:51:44.

more plays. Castleford are being tested to the max here. Great play

:51:45.:51:50.

by James Clare, because you think that Anthony Gelling has got the

:51:51.:51:53.

jump on him. Great defence again by Oliver Holmes, great play by both

:51:54.:51:55.

sides. What a great game. Oliver Holmes, great play by both

:51:56.:52:14.

half. And Marc Sneyd's goal. That is all that separates. A

:52:15.:52:18.

half. And Marc Sneyd's goal. That is towards the touchline, but those

:52:19.:52:20.

with well enough by Dominic Manfredi. There are so many in this

:52:21.:52:25.

Wigan line-up he can make a claim. James Clare has made a good recovery

:52:26.:53:12.

there. Hold your breath. This is a terrific game. 60 minutes played,

:53:13.:53:19.

just under. Wigan are dominating the second half. 75% territory.

:53:20.:53:33.

20 minutes to go. It is still anybody's cup tie.

:53:34.:53:49.

Not sure what that kick is all about. I think it is Matty Smith

:53:50.:53:57.

underneath there who has got it back for Wigan again. Some desperation on

:53:58.:54:06.

both sides there. At least Castleford are further down the

:54:07.:54:14.

field. A bit of respite for Castleford. There is a bit of

:54:15.:54:20.

bunching in the middle of the field here from within. A bit tight.

:54:21.:54:35.

Balance of probabilities. He had given it as a steal. Yes, a steal.

:54:36.:54:52.

Good call. We can come again -- Wigan come again.

:54:53.:55:00.

Matty Smith bring on with intent, but shot down. Anthony Gelling

:55:01.:55:20.

shuffles into dummy half quickly. A curtain of defenders that keeps

:55:21.:55:25.

closing. There are still a couple of tackles to go here again. Here is

:55:26.:55:28.

Matty Smith once more. Farrell Winslet! They finally find a

:55:29.:55:46.

weakness in the Castleford line. Wigan are right back in the cup tie

:55:47.:55:55.

against. Relentless pressure. A good finish from Liam Farrell.

:55:56.:56:02.

Magnificent defensive effort, Castleford. But something had to

:56:03.:56:13.

give. Here is the first penalty that gets him into the field position.

:56:14.:56:17.

Sean O'Loughlin is making increasing presence in this game, and here is

:56:18.:56:24.

the ball. A great catch at the line. I think it is Webster and Liam

:56:25.:56:29.

Finn, Liam Farrell spins around. He gets through. A great catch in the

:56:30.:56:33.

first place, and a result of all the pressure that Wigan have had in this

:56:34.:56:38.

second half. Good upper body effort there from Liam Finn. A game of fine

:56:39.:56:47.

lines, this one. Farrell's involvement there was vital, but how

:56:48.:56:53.

big a moment is this for Matty Smith? Wigan are still behind.

:56:54.:56:58.

Castleford still have a slight advantage. The boot of Matty Smith

:56:59.:57:03.

could draw them level again here, Wigan. A huge kick. In the context

:57:04.:57:11.

of this cup tie, and he has put it wide. He has pushed it wide. And so

:57:12.:57:21.

Wigan are still behind. Castleford are still hanging on. Here is the

:57:22.:57:29.

play again, brilliant play from Sean O'Loughlin, a ball, keeps his feet

:57:30.:57:37.

moving. He gets the ball over the line, and that is what it means to

:57:38.:57:39.

be Wigan coaching staff. A tired attempt for a conversion

:57:40.:57:53.

from Matty Smith. That was what you would have thought he would have

:57:54.:58:04.

got. Daryl Clark is back on here. 60 minutes of the cup tie remaining. An

:58:05.:58:10.

absolute cracker Jack. Yes, a brilliant game. They need

:58:11.:58:18.

possession, they need field position now, Castleford. I do not think they

:58:19.:58:24.

have kicked the ball as well in this half.

:58:25.:58:29.

McIlorum might have been looking for a penalty there, but he's not going

:58:30.:58:33.

to get it. Some tired bodies out there. It is

:58:34.:59:08.

Castleford's turn to limp back. 15 minutes left to play. He was going

:59:09.:59:16.

to win this? It is going to be very interesting, purely because, when

:59:17.:59:20.

you get tired, concentration goes, wrong decisions are made.

:59:21.:59:29.

Castleford were involved in a hard raking cup tie in a semifinal couple

:59:30.:59:37.

of years ago, against Leeds. Kevin Sinfield's boot taught the heart out

:59:38.:59:43.

of them. One or two matka in this team today and will remember that

:59:44.:59:46.

day. When they get tired like this, it

:59:47.:00:01.

becomes about discipline and not giving away penalties.

:00:02.:00:37.

I've got Josh Charnley with me. What do Wigan have to do to win this? We

:00:38.:00:42.

need a bit more energy around the rook. Castleford have a lot of

:00:43.:00:47.

energy. They come to our ground with a bit of confidence much we need to

:00:48.:00:52.

step it up a bit and have a bit more conviction. Where are you

:00:53.:00:57.

injury-wise? I've had a full week training with the boys. Get back

:00:58.:01:00.

playing and match Disappointed not fit. To be out there? Yeah, it's one

:01:01.:01:04.

of those games, you want to do something but you can't. You have to

:01:05.:01:05.

sit there and watch it. Two sides this year who have proved

:01:06.:01:14.

their pedigree, week in, week in the Super League.

:01:15.:01:22.

They're doing it again here in the cup.

:01:23.:02:11.

It's been relentless this second half from Wigan. They've really been

:02:12.:02:16.

patient and hoping that one of the Castleford players cracks and a few

:02:17.:02:20.

hands on knees in the yellow jumpers out there. Cas have to find energy

:02:21.:02:24.

somewhere. That's a relieving penalty for them.

:02:25.:02:34.

I think it's a relief for everyone. Everyone can get some air back in

:02:35.:02:42.

their lungs here. It's a nervous Castleford back-room

:02:43.:02:50.

staff. Daryl Powell their coach. Equally the Wigan camp and

:02:51.:02:53.

staff. Daryl Powell their coach. Wane. Not too far away from each

:02:54.:02:55.

other, looking down. They're looking for a good end to

:02:56.:03:10.

the set here, Castleford. What a pass! What about that try!

:03:11.:03:41.

might be a match winner. Kirk Dixon is in. But the

:03:42.:03:46.

might be a match winner. Kirk Dixon pass from Webster. He's injured

:03:47.:03:53.

might be a match winner. Kirk Dixon well, Webster. It needed a

:03:54.:03:54.

might be a match winner. Kirk Dixon brilliance, a bit of magic. They've

:03:55.:03:59.

been under the cosh. Miracle pass. Great take. A brilliant try. How

:04:00.:04:04.

important will that conversion be, the missed conversion? This is a big

:04:05.:04:11.

conversion now. Here's the penalty that gives Castleford field

:04:12.:04:14.

position. They haven't had any. They get their field position and get to

:04:15.:04:18.

the right end of the field. This is brilliant. Dorn and Webster at the

:04:19.:04:23.

end of this. The pace of Dorn gives Webster a running chance. ' Tracts

:04:24.:04:29.

the winger, Manfredi. Dixon just has to finish, a fair catch from Dixon.

:04:30.:04:37.

Brilliant catch. Drawn in a split second. This is it. Goes in, takes

:04:38.:04:45.

two. Great pass. Great take. Good finish. That's a big score.

:04:46.:04:55.

Absolutely massive. As Jonathan was saying, this kick now is potentially

:04:56.:05:03.

the moment. We've mentioned his unusual kicking style. This is the

:05:04.:05:09.

right side of the field for him. So the angle will be a lot better

:05:10.:05:16.

for him to just curl it in. Big kick. Right from the touchline, if

:05:17.:05:25.

he puts this over, the scoreline at the moment, 10-4, so a try and a

:05:26.:05:29.

goal for Wigan would put them level. If Marc Sneyd puts this over, then

:05:30.:05:31.

Wigan would have to score twice. He's not being rude turning his back

:05:32.:05:35.

on the sticks, it's his style. No. Not this time.? It's still a

:05:36.:05:57.

six-point game. Try and a goal puts Wigan level. Great hands. The front

:05:58.:06:05.

rowers again, Huby releasing. Watch this right hand, flick pass. Had to

:06:06.:06:09.

be caught by Dixon. That's a good take.

:06:10.:06:14.

Here we go, last ten minutes of the game. Last nine minutes of the game.

:06:15.:06:22.

How does it unfold from here. Jamie, have you got any clues? I think this

:06:23.:06:27.

last ten minutes, we going to see if Castleford are the real deal. I was

:06:28.:06:30.

questioning earlier before they scored, can they beat these top-four

:06:31.:06:36.

teams when it really matters? That try seems to have answered it. They

:06:37.:06:41.

need the belief now to get on to the semifinals. It will be an

:06:42.:06:42.

interesting last ten If Wigan minutes. Get six points and no more,

:06:43.:06:49.

we would be into golden point, extra time.

:06:50.:06:57.

They are getting a bit of purchase now.

:06:58.:07:18.

Burgess underneath it, catches it, safely enough.

:07:19.:07:25.

They're at the right end of the field. They'll be concentrating on

:07:26.:07:31.

their defence and discipline, as we mentioned earlier. It's Wigan's

:07:32.:07:34.

challenge to get to the other end of the field. They're chasing the game

:07:35.:07:37.

now, Wigan. The clock's against them. The last time Wigan lost the

:07:38.:07:44.

cup tie at home was in 1986, when Castleford beat them 10-2.

:07:45.:07:50.

28 years later, and Castleford are winning by 10-4.

:07:51.:07:57.

It's a little bit of history, about to repeat itself. Or can Wigan go

:07:58.:08:06.

back to the well and find a way back into this contest? They had the

:08:07.:08:07.

chance there to give it. Dorn has taken it very well. Great

:08:08.:08:23.

catch. Return it's with interest. They get a penalty. That's what they

:08:24.:08:25.

want. When Cas won in '86, they went all

:08:26.:08:44.

the way to Wembley that year. They're in the semifinals, still a

:08:45.:08:51.

massive if, if they win here today. ( Wigan, the cup holders, will not

:08:52.:08:54.

let it go lightly. Field goal is on as well. If nothing

:08:55.:09:31.

comes in the last tackle. Drop goal. The kicking essential.

:09:32.:09:37.

Never got it off the ground. It was a drop-goal attempt chance. Was it

:09:38.:09:54.

too rushed? I think it was. Didn't set himself up. Needed a

:09:55.:10:00.

right-footed kicker there. He had plenty of time.

:10:01.:10:09.

They need to get it to the other side of the They're cape field.

:10:10.:10:13.

Able. Sneyd marshalling his troops from

:10:14.:10:21.

dummy half here. They're not risking much here. We're

:10:22.:11:14.

all nervous on the gantry for them and for Wigan. Both good teams.

:11:15.:11:18.

They've played really well. Oh, he's gone through! The chip over

:11:19.:11:24.

the top. Farrell, all he can do is diffuse it and put it behind.

:11:25.:11:31.

There's an injury. A clash of heads. They believe at the moment. The

:11:32.:11:46.

question is, do Wigan believe they can get back in it?

:11:47.:12:00.

It's Castleford head and feet here, I think? Yes. Wigan rushing because

:12:01.:12:10.

they want to stop the clock. They need as much time as possible.

:12:11.:12:15.

That's the reason why. The decided it was a knock-on. Yes, knock-on

:12:16.:12:18.

from Burgess. Castleford are happy to have

:12:19.:12:37.

breather here, reddying themselves up for six more

:12:38.:12:42.

line. One score away from confirmation of

:12:43.:12:48.

glory. Wigan are hanging on here. They're desperate not to let that

:12:49.:12:52.

Challenge Cup slip away from their grasp.

:12:53.:12:56.

Cas are going to take some stopping now.

:12:57.:13:09.

He's over to win it. He only lives a couple of miles up the road but he's

:13:10.:13:29.

Pennines, with a try couple of miles up the road but he's

:13:30.:13:34.

Castleford a place in the semifinals.

:13:35.:13:42.

Like a boxer on the ropes much they were under the cosh for most of the

:13:43.:13:49.

second half. They have come back, two

:13:50.:13:51.

second half. They have come back, They're going to the semifinal of

:13:52.:13:54.

second half. They have come back, the Challenge Cup. Here's the

:13:55.:13:58.

knock-on from Burgess that gave them the field

:13:59.:14:01.

knock-on from Burgess that gave them worried about a drop goal. Williams

:14:02.:14:05.

steps out on the line there. Jewitt picks the ball and says, "I'm over!"

:14:06.:14:12.

He is, he's over. What a score. We're going to Wembley.

:14:13.:14:16.

He is, he's over. What a score. That's the chant from those

:14:17.:14:21.

Castleford fans. It has been an extraordinary year for Daryl Powell

:14:22.:14:25.

and his side. They've been ripping up the form book in the Super League

:14:26.:14:30.

on a consistent basis, now they have come to the cup holders and snatched

:14:31.:14:35.

their place in the Challenge Cup semifinals. They're doing it the

:14:36.:14:38.

hard way, but semifinals. They're doing it the

:14:39.:14:39.

wonderfully well. They've not seen days like these for

:14:40.:14:54.

an awful long time, those Castleford fans.

:14:55.:15:03.

Jamie Peacock posed the question: Are Cas the real deal? They are now.

:15:04.:15:09.

They've answered the question. They've answered Jamie's questions,

:15:10.:15:12.

the pundits' questions. They've done it tough for 30 minutes of this

:15:13.:15:16.

second half. They have. On a joint track as well, they're going to be,

:15:17.:15:22.

you know, even tougher to beat. Lee Jewitt very much the local hero,

:15:23.:15:29.

but not for the local team. Great dummy, wasn't it? Threw it out

:15:30.:15:38.

there. There is a bit of terrific sportsmanship. Good to see Shaun

:15:39.:15:41.

Wane shaking hands there. It has gone to ground. It has kept

:15:42.:16:02.

on. It is game over for sure. Castleford

:16:03.:16:13.

think so. I am not sure they are going to get

:16:14.:16:31.

the scrum down. Michael Shenton is having a word with the referee.

:16:32.:16:39.

There is Daryl Powell. What a fantastic year, a fantastic season

:16:40.:16:40.

he is having. Daryl Powell must be right up there

:16:41.:16:57.

in Iraq and in off the coaches -- in the reckoning of the coaches. A

:16:58.:17:11.

great effort. Little things, the magic pass under the back.

:17:12.:17:19.

Castleford certainly deserve it. Let's here from Daryl Powell, the

:17:20.:17:22.

winning coach. You have had some great days in the

:17:23.:17:27.

game. Where does this rate? And unbelievable effort in the second

:17:28.:17:32.

half. I thought we were by far the better team in the first half, but

:17:33.:17:35.

you do what we did in the second half was unbelievable. A fantastic

:17:36.:17:46.

effort from the boys. We were told beforehand there would not be many

:17:47.:17:51.

points. Tough conditions for a large part of the game, so it was ethical

:17:52.:17:59.

to control the ball. Our attacking play was superb. Overall, I am so

:18:00.:18:05.

delighted with the players and their effort. What could this win do for

:18:06.:18:12.

you for the rest of this season? We are a genuine team. It is more

:18:13.:18:15.

belief in the players and recognising who we are. If we

:18:16.:18:19.

continue to perform with that effort and the ability we have in the team,

:18:20.:18:23.

who knows? We want to be challenging for things, and we will keep our

:18:24.:18:27.

feet on the ground and keep doing the job. Well done. The man of the

:18:28.:18:33.

match, Oliver Holmes, congratulations. Daryl Powell was

:18:34.:18:39.

saying it was the defence that would hit. We are really proud of

:18:40.:18:46.

ourselves. We said it would be a tough gig at Wigan. Where is the

:18:47.:18:54.

confidence and be self belief coming from in this team? Just the fact

:18:55.:18:58.

that we play in front of each other. We are a tighten its grip. We work

:18:59.:19:06.

hard for each other and that is where the confidence comes from.

:19:07.:19:12.

Many congratulations. Luke Dorn, what was your game like? Incredible.

:19:13.:19:17.

We knew it would be tough, especially against the champions at

:19:18.:19:21.

Wigan. But the boys were outstanding. How much will this ruck

:19:22.:19:28.

the rugby world? I don't know about ruck the world, but it will give us

:19:29.:19:34.

a boost. We are happy that we have won this game. Our coach is very

:19:35.:19:42.

passionate about what he believes in, Rugby League, and that flows

:19:43.:19:48.

through the team. He has been great for our group and we owe a lot to

:19:49.:19:51.

him. Enjoy the celebrations. Thank you very much. Shaun Wane,

:19:52.:19:57.

commiserations. What was the difference between the two sites

:19:58.:20:01.

today? They completed their sets better. They were the better team.

:20:02.:20:09.

We were beaten by the better team, no doubt about that. They deserve to

:20:10.:20:15.

be in their fight -- the semifinals and we don't. We should be

:20:16.:20:24.

completing sets better. We have given ourselves a lot to do. We

:20:25.:20:29.

could have been better in the first half. But I don't want to take

:20:30.:20:33.

anything away from them. They controlled the rug speed very well

:20:34.:20:39.

-- the rocks speed very well. That is what you get when you play

:20:40.:20:46.

Castleford. The best team won. They did what they needed to do.

:20:47.:20:57.

Castleford fans are going to stay there and celebrate. Their players

:20:58.:21:03.

at the moment are having a celebratory photographs in front of

:21:04.:21:12.

those fans, and I would imagine that will dominate the media in Yorkshire

:21:13.:21:16.

over the next few days. Jamie Peacock, as Shaun Wane said, they

:21:17.:21:20.

deserved it and they were the better side. Castleford's defence was

:21:21.:21:31.

awesome. It was inspiring watching them defend and the commitment they

:21:32.:21:36.

showed. It allowed them to go on and win. That was

:21:37.:21:39.

showed. It allowed them to go on and Oliver Holmes tackle. Every right to

:21:40.:21:44.

score. No reason to make that defensive play, but he went back and

:21:45.:21:49.

he did. It is all effort and commitment to each other. These are

:21:50.:21:55.

the things that inform team spirit. This is why Castleford's has a

:21:56.:22:00.

strong team spirit. You have to dip into that reserve you didn't know

:22:01.:22:04.

you had, find that desire and find special play to help your team out.

:22:05.:22:07.

Oliver Holmes are certainly did that. We spoke about bigger and

:22:08.:22:14.

verve. You sense that as a coach in the opposition sometimes? That your

:22:15.:22:19.

opponents have got more energy? Wigan came back well in the second

:22:20.:22:23.

half, and the energy that Castleford showed when they had no right to

:22:24.:22:26.

have that energy, it is that teams are at an camaraderie for each other

:22:27.:22:30.

that brings it out, you see that within a team. You see that extra

:22:31.:22:34.

effort. You think, if he is doing it, I have to do it and stand up to

:22:35.:22:40.

the plate as well. Yes, it is infectious. You cannot underestimate

:22:41.:22:43.

what the errors in the first half cost Wigan in terms of energy. You

:22:44.:22:49.

have to credit Castleford with keeping them out in a 20 minute

:22:50.:22:53.

spell where they were penned in their own half. They got out of that

:22:54.:23:01.

half, and that is the sign of a great site. It looks like Shaun Wane

:23:02.:23:05.

is going to gather his thoughts before he speaks to his players.

:23:06.:23:11.

How special weather moments with the fans at the end? Fantastic. That is

:23:12.:23:21.

what you play the Game four. I am thankful that we came out the back

:23:22.:23:26.

end of it. Talkers through that try. It was pretty skilful. Quite a

:23:27.:23:40.

good catch, because that was a difficult one to date. I put some

:23:41.:23:45.

live on my hands before the game because of the conditions. A

:23:46.:23:49.

fantastic game and I am glad we have come through all right. You have

:23:50.:23:54.

been at this club 40 years. What is the difference this year? As soon as

:23:55.:23:58.

Daryl Powell came in, he took it away and stick this together. He has

:23:59.:24:04.

got that unity and he has got everyone singing off the same hymn

:24:05.:24:05.

sheet. I hope we everyone singing off the same hymn

:24:06.:24:12.

proud. If you could pick somebody in the semifinals, he would you pick? I

:24:13.:24:15.

don't No. Anybody is the semifinals, he would you pick? I

:24:16.:24:19.

tough, or fantastic teams. We are just happy to be in the draw fire

:24:20.:24:20.

stop. This was his try. They were lacking

:24:21.:24:37.

about the three front rows, Millington, Lynch and Huby were

fantastic. My position, to earn respect, you have to play tough, and

you have to be able to play. They did that. They have been good all

team-mates, you go out of your way to do that little bit extra. The

pressure. That is so difficult to do. When it feels like your lungs

are exploding, you cannot get out of your own half, but that is what they

did. This is what world-class sides do! Sing songs like this. The table

look at the Lee Jewitt is tried, the icing on the cake for Castleford.

:27:10.:27:14.

The main threat here is the ball. The Wigan players are all charging.

:27:15.:27:20.

You can't score unless you have got the ball. One of your team-mates

scored a similar try last night. That is two lapses by two teams, but

:27:29.:27:34.

a great try for Lee Jewitt. The threat is where the ball is. The

Full credit Castleford, they defended magnificently. Castleford
