Hello, and welcome to the BBC Sport Centre. | :00:13. | :00:15.
We look ahead to what is a huge fight for boxer Amir Khan tonight. | :00:16. | :00:22.
We'll also be previewing the fencers going on the attack | :00:23. | :00:24.
at the Rio Olympics, but first let's take a look | :00:25. | :00:26.
at what else is hitting the sporting headlines today. | :00:27. | :00:32.
After Leicester's title triumph, it's easy to forget there's | :00:33. | :00:34.
still plenty to play for as the football | :00:35. | :00:36.
Not least in the Championship where Middlesbrough and Brighton go | :00:37. | :00:40.
head to head to secure the final automatic promotion place | :00:41. | :00:42.
and the huge financial rewards Premier league football will bring. | :00:43. | :00:45.
Brighton must win, failure to do so, will send Middlesbrough up. | :00:46. | :00:50.
Andy Murray is continuing the defence of his Madrid Masters | :00:51. | :00:53.
title, as he faces Rafa Nadal in the semifinals. | :00:54. | :00:55.
Murray is on the brink of taking the first set. | :00:56. | :00:59.
Also looking to successfully defend his title is Rory Mcilroy | :01:00. | :01:03.
who is within six shots of the lead after the second round of the Wells | :01:04. | :01:07.
The World Number three finished on two under at the halfway stage. | :01:08. | :01:19.
It is like night tonight for Amir Khan in what is being billed as the | :01:20. | :01:25.
biggest bout of his career. He takes on Alvarez in Las Vegas for the WBC | :01:26. | :01:30.
title. The result of which will have a huge bearing on just how his | :01:31. | :01:34.
career will be remembered. Mike Costello went to join him in | :01:35. | :01:36.
training. A year ago no one had even heard of | :01:37. | :01:50.
this little fellow, and here he is on the top of the world. I want | :01:51. | :01:57.
people to know me. I want fame. I want to be one of the greatest | :01:58. | :02:02.
legends in boxing. It has been a long and sometimes bumpy road to | :02:03. | :02:06.
Amir Khan city won a silver medal at the Olympic Games at the age of 17. | :02:07. | :02:10.
12 years on I have come to meet him in training in San Francisco as he | :02:11. | :02:14.
prepares for the biggest fight in his professional career against the | :02:15. | :02:17.
world middleweight champion Alvarez of Mexico will stop -- Mexico. You | :02:18. | :02:24.
knew what you in for when you woke up, how does it feel? I knew it was | :02:25. | :02:29.
going to be a hard session. I have done a lot of training in my days. | :02:30. | :02:33.
This has to be one of the hardest work out in the morning, especially | :02:34. | :02:38.
when you have just got out of bed. A couple of hours | :02:39. | :02:41.
when you have just got out of bed. A and it is deeper than a normal | :02:42. | :02:45.
beach. Your leg gets stuck. Your sand is up to your knee -- the sand. | :02:46. | :02:51.
What kind of athlete is he? Ferrari. He is fast and he can handle the | :02:52. | :02:55.
corner very He is fast and he can handle the | :02:56. | :03:08.
was keen on the fight? I was. Initially I didn't like it. | :03:09. | :03:13.
Justifiably. Size is different. For why, what? Who was it, what was it, | :03:14. | :03:22.
in the end, that convinced you? Amir . I asked why he wanted it. It is a | :03:23. | :03:28.
global fight. Not just big in England. It is big around the world. | :03:29. | :03:36.
He has never been an underdog. The only time he was an underdog was | :03:37. | :03:40.
once before. That was the Olympic Games. He proved everybody wrong. He | :03:41. | :03:45.
is the underdog on the 7th of May. He will prove everybody wrong again. | :03:46. | :03:49.
is the underdog on the 7th of May. He is a monster. He is a tough guy. | :03:50. | :03:52.
He is a puncher with speed and power. The only reason I'm taking it | :03:53. | :03:58.
is because I want to make history and I know I can beat him. If you | :03:59. | :04:05.
want to hear more from him, there is a special documentary, The Rise Of | :04:06. | :04:14.
Khan, on iPlayer. Having qualified in 2012 as the host nation the foil | :04:15. | :04:18.
team secured their place in the year with a nice place finish at the | :04:19. | :04:22.
World Cup in February. For one of the team named this week, fencing is | :04:23. | :04:23.
a real family affair as we British fencing is in rude health. | :04:24. | :04:41.
They have a serious contender for a medal this summer. Lawrence and the | :04:42. | :04:45.
rest of the British team went to the Olympics four years ago but this | :04:46. | :04:49.
time it means more, qualifying by right instead of being given a place | :04:50. | :05:00.
as the host. -- Laurence. Since we became professional, we have been | :05:01. | :05:02.
able to compete with the rest of the world. An amount of that | :05:03. | :05:07.
professional training, now we can start to smash them. Fencing is in | :05:08. | :05:21.
the Halsted blood, with both his parents competing in the past. The | :05:22. | :05:27.
first time as a team. The first British team since 1992. It makes a | :05:28. | :05:30.
difference. I know my father would have been proud. Probably as proud | :05:31. | :05:35.
the first time, but just to come through that, to have driven this | :05:36. | :05:39.
team towards another qualification, I can imagine very clearly how | :05:40. | :05:45.
pleased he would have been. Two generations of Olympians in the same | :05:46. | :05:48.
family is an achievement in itself, but if Laurence can surpass his | :05:49. | :05:54.
parents and win a medal, his family's legacy will be assured. | :05:55. | :06:02.
As a childfree illegally wanted to play for Arsenal but those dreams | :06:03. | :06:05.
were ended when she was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. -- Frea | :06:06. | :06:18.
Levy. But she now has a number route, wheelchair basketball. -- | :06:19. | :06:28.
another route. I started playing rugby, as soon as I could walk. I | :06:29. | :06:35.
was interested in playing football for Arsenal. Faye White was my hero | :06:36. | :06:42.
and I had a goal to play for Arsenal. I had weakness in my | :06:43. | :06:48.
shoulder. The GPs put it down to just pain from playing sport. It | :06:49. | :06:53.
became incredibly painful. And on the 21st of September we got the | :06:54. | :06:58.
diagnosis of muscle dystrophy. It was a big issue for my mum. A | :06:59. | :07:02.
distressing time for her because I was a baby and I am the youngest. | :07:03. | :07:06.
How important was sport to you at that time and finding a new focus? | :07:07. | :07:14.
It was massive. To all of my friends I was Frea in a wheelchair, but when | :07:15. | :07:19.
I started wheelchair basketball everybody was in the wheelchair. She | :07:20. | :07:25.
has started a bit late to make the Rio Olympics, but her talent has not | :07:26. | :07:31.
gone unnoticed. And she has been chosen by Michael Johnson to train | :07:32. | :07:34.
at his academy in the USA this month. She will also help to create | :07:35. | :07:39.
a project which will assist other disabled people. She is very aware | :07:40. | :07:44.
of other people who may have similar situations to hers. She wants to | :07:45. | :07:50.
help these young folks to get on a track to success for themselves, | :07:51. | :07:55.
whether it be in sport, if they have the athletic ability to do that as | :07:56. | :07:58.
athletes, coaches, she just needs the opportunity to get that project | :07:59. | :08:03.
going. His performance Centre in Dallas has people training for the | :08:04. | :08:09.
NBA draft. As a basketball fan and a fan of the MDA it is exciting to be | :08:10. | :08:12.
in that environment. How much does it make you want to compete? -- NBA. | :08:13. | :08:22.
He cannot get higher than that. It is great to have Great Britain on | :08:23. | :08:27.
the front, Levy on the back, and to say thank you to my mum, it is a | :08:28. | :08:34.
dream. Amazing story. Middlesbrough have taken an early lead against | :08:35. | :08:37.
Brighton at the Riverside, which means they are on course to get that | :08:38. | :08:42.
second automatic promotion spot to the Premier League. Burley are also | :08:43. | :08:47.
in the lead, meaning they will be promoted -- Burnley. It is goodbye | :08:48. | :08:57.
for now from me and the rest of the team. | :08:58. | :08:59. |
