This week Team GB launched their official kit with 100 days to go

to come home with plenty of medals, but this week may have

of sexism and discrimination, British Cycling denied other claims

that they had been selling publicly funded equipment online,

then, one of their stars failed a drugs test -

British cycling has been at the head of the country's sporting peloton,

few saw the bumps in the road approaching. Shane Sutton the

technical director of British cycling has resigned. Simon Yates is

considered a rising star but has failed a drugs test. How did it

start? Let's go back to last Saturday, Jessica Barnett had been

dropped from the British team and accused the Australian Shane Sutton,

the performance director, of sexism, claiming he told her to go and have

gimps. I had heard it on numerous occasions. Later that day he

resigned. He denies accusations but said in a statement, developments

over the past few days have clearly become a distraction and it is for

this reason that I believe it is in the best interests of British

cycling for me to step down as technical director. He wanted the

athletes to succeed and it's the right decision for him to step back

and he made that decision in the best interests of the team, really.

A key part of Britain's Olympic plans was gone, Sutton had been at

the heart of British cycling for 14 years, its golden age. His success

was undoubted, his approach divided opinion. Shane is a no-nonsense guy,

but he was no-nonsense with men and women. It was the way he was and is.

It works for some people and not for others. UK Sport announced an

independent review into all forms of discrimination and bullying in

British cycling, the spotlight is on cycling and it wasn't moving on. On

Thursday UK capital of the sport ordered another investigation, this

time over claims that official kit was sold online, claims denied by

British Cycling. Late on Thursday night reports surfaced that

potential Olympian Simon Yates failed a drugs test, his team blamed

an administrative error over the use of an asthma inhaler. It is news

that British cycling could have done without. With the Olympics less than

100 days away, reddish cycling is looking in on itself. -- British

cycling. Against that backdrop,

the Tour de Yorkshire got underway yesterday 10 of thousands turning

out to cheer on the elite men's road racers and today the women have

raced on the same stage, Tanya Arnold is at the

finish there for us. we really need some positive

headlines around cycling We nearly did, though, Lucy Gardner

was just pipped to the line by Kirsten Wilde from the Netherlands.

Lizzie Armitstead is the world racing champion, she was in the pack

at the end. She talked about her pride in this race and the quality

of the race and said it was a goose pimples moment for her when she left

her home town of Otley this morning on such a prestigious race. That

would have been great for as many people to see as possible but

because of technical difficulties it was not broadcast live on

television? Absolutely awful for the organisers here. They have worked

really, really hard to give the women's race as much of a boost as

possible, a record prize fund of ?15,000 going to the winner, but the

other plank was to get the same coverage as the men's race, to show

the whole race live. But they have had horrible technical difficulties

with the aeroplane that beams pictures back, one of those things

totally out of their control, still working to get it fixed for the

men's race, but Gary Verity from Welcome To Yorkshire who organises

the race was devastated. Many thanks indeed.

It's a new sport that is growing quickly...

The Wheeled Warriors Boxing Organisation is aiming

My name is Paul Rodgers and so on. I am 45 years old. I trained in karate

when I was a teenager and at the age of 207I had an accident which left

me disabled and I started to do a bit of boxing exercises. -- the age

of 27. Most people think that it's an April fools joke, they can't

imagine how it would work, it's more about positioning and agility in the

chair, getting into the right position and range, that is

everything, if you are not in range you will never be able to throw a

punch. Doing it at an elite level fuels the lower level and if we can

get it into the Paralympics it will mean that people locally will be

able to get involved. We have actually built up a report in 18

countries, and we would like to be an umbrella organisation. That would

bring a stability of equal matching with classifications, so I would say

that we have done the hard work. We just need some more small steps to

get the glory at the end, that is the Paralympics. It is giving

disabled people chance to compete at the same level as able-bodied

people, which you can see in many sports, but boxing I feel has always

been left out. If we feel comfortable with it, then really it

is our right to do that. Look at this sport with your eyes open and a

fresh mind, rather than your eyes closed. And a perspective that has

been put into your head previously. It represents that first milestone

for wheelchair boxing. The fact that I will probably be put the question

in 20 years' time, it will come up time and again, I hope. Good luck to

them, they are fighting tomorrow in Liverpool.

Celtic can win the Scottish Premiership today. They are leading

Hearts 1-0. Selby is still leading Marco Fu 11-10 in Sheffield. From
