Another busy afternoon in the BBC sports" the latest news coming up | :00:08. | :00:11.
and some interesting features for you this week. Welcome to Saturday | :00:12. | :00:14.
Sportsday. Here is a taste of what we've got | :00:15. | :00:30.
for you today. The sibling rivalry which conquered the triathlon world. | :00:31. | :00:36.
The Brownlees started in 2013. They have some big target to aim for this | :00:37. | :00:41.
year. Bryony Page is now one of the best in the world but she tells us | :00:42. | :00:45.
just how close she came to giving up trampolining. And this man, he never | :00:46. | :00:51.
gave up in his quest to be the best in what he does. It's akin to Italy | :00:52. | :00:55.
in one of the toughest professional leagues in wheelchair basketball. | :00:56. | :00:59.
First, let's look at the stories making the headlines today. David | :01:00. | :01:08.
Moyes says even his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson would have struggled | :01:09. | :01:12.
this season with a squad he describes as ageing. A group of fans | :01:13. | :01:15.
are planning to train a banner above Old Trafford during the lunchtime | :01:16. | :01:18.
match against Aston Villa which reads wrong one, Molly is out. | :01:19. | :01:23.
Torrential rain in Kuala Lumpur is affecting this morning 's practice | :01:24. | :01:27.
and qualifying session ahead of the grand pre-. In just under one hour, | :01:28. | :01:31.
Stuart broad will lead at England's cricketers for the crucial game | :01:32. | :01:37.
against South Africa at the 220 World Cup in Bangladesh. England's | :01:38. | :01:40.
men are hopeful of a place the semifinals. So to other women. They | :01:41. | :01:51.
have one two and lost one so far. The captain continues to push the | :01:52. | :01:52.
boundaries. Sarah Taylor rarely slows down. In | :01:53. | :02:03.
the past few years she's become a World Cup winner, contributed a | :02:04. | :02:05.
back-to-back Ashes victories and emerged as one of the best female | :02:06. | :02:11.
cricketers. She is not yet 25 but in the build-up to the world to 20 | :02:12. | :02:14.
currently underway in Bangladesh, much was expected of her. Does she | :02:15. | :02:20.
feel pressure? Yes, I do but it brings out the best in me, I think. | :02:21. | :02:26.
I love the T20 format and I'm looking forward to the World Cup. | :02:27. | :02:29.
She's always pushed boundaries as well. When she paid for the Brighton | :02:30. | :02:36.
College first 11 alongside boys, the president called absolutely | :02:37. | :02:39.
outrageous. Now she competes with men in senior club cricket. It's | :02:40. | :02:43.
testing absolutely brilliant. It's one of the best things I ever did. | :02:44. | :02:48.
Some of the pace the bowlers, they do testing and batting, as well, it | :02:49. | :02:52.
keeps you on your toes, but they treat me like any other cricketer. A | :02:53. | :02:55.
year ago, there was talk about making the step into men's second 11 | :02:56. | :03:00.
cricket with her county, Sussex. Nothing materialised but it's | :03:01. | :03:02.
something she would like to try. It's nice to be asked. I would've | :03:03. | :03:07.
loved to have done it. It would be a curve. I think it would better | :03:08. | :03:11.
myself as a woman's cricketer but, yeah, if it came around again, I | :03:12. | :03:17.
would do it. Wicketkeeping is about finesse rather than force so could a | :03:18. | :03:20.
woman make it as a wicketkeeper in men's cricket? That's better, good. | :03:21. | :03:28.
The key about the men's game, top flight, the keeper is an | :03:29. | :03:36.
all-rounder. The keeping, we expect them to average in excess of 30 and | :03:37. | :03:39.
the key players in one-day cricket, as well. There's no reason why Sarah | :03:40. | :03:46.
couldn't keep providing she does it well enough. In terms of a limit to | :03:47. | :03:51.
wear women's cricket can go and the performances we put in, I think you | :03:52. | :03:55.
never know. We have got to take small steps initially but, you never | :03:56. | :03:59.
know what's going to happen in the future. Women's cricket is now a | :04:00. | :04:04.
profession thanks to new contracts awarded by the ECB for though these | :04:05. | :04:06.
players will be better prepared than any others to play men's cricket, | :04:07. | :04:10.
none will see it as a goal in itself. The pace of change in the | :04:11. | :04:13.
women's game is relentless and currently, England and Sarah Taylor | :04:14. | :04:20.
are setting it. England's women will have their eyes on next Sunday's T20 | :04:21. | :04:25.
final. That's the same day that the World Triathlon series starts in New | :04:26. | :04:29.
Zealand for the Elite Men. The Brownlee Brothers most certainly fit | :04:30. | :04:32.
into that category. But Olympic champion Alastair is sitting out the | :04:33. | :04:35.
first race of the season and Jonny heads to Auckland trying to forget | :04:36. | :04:39.
what happened in his last major race. Mark Shardlow reports. | :04:40. | :04:54.
I bought a beam world champion, won twice. Europeans, one that twice. | :04:55. | :05:04.
It's gone well. The Brownlees are winners so 2013 was frustrating for | :05:05. | :05:07.
them. Johnny blew his world title chance. I will get a lot of stick | :05:08. | :05:13.
for that, throwing away the world title today. And Alistair's main | :05:14. | :05:19.
battle was injury. So when the season finished, they took their | :05:20. | :05:21.
longest ever break from training, six weeks, and went and climbed | :05:22. | :05:28.
Mount Kilimanjaro. I'm not the kind of person to sit at home do | :05:29. | :05:32.
absolutely nothing, so claiming Kilimanjaro was perfect. When you | :05:33. | :05:38.
got to the Company evening, there was nothing to do see had to sit | :05:39. | :05:42.
around and play cards. The Brownlees have spent more time overseas this | :05:43. | :05:46.
winter mixing warm weather training with the usual routine. They also | :05:47. | :05:51.
got a taste of life as full-time cyclists, training with a top | :05:52. | :05:55.
national team. I suppose the best way to describe a day like that, is | :05:56. | :06:01.
like going downstairs, breakfast is laid out for you, but your biking | :06:02. | :06:07.
helmet on, and ride around for five or six hours, comeback. The food is | :06:08. | :06:12.
laid out, and Matthau is, and fantastic environment, very | :06:13. | :06:14.
conductive than sport. Athletes have nothing to worry about except | :06:15. | :06:19.
training. I will try to take as much I can into triathlon. This year 's | :06:20. | :06:26.
triathlon World Series is more gruelling than ever. They need to | :06:27. | :06:30.
compete in at least six events and right in the middle of their five | :06:31. | :06:33.
months of globetrotting is the Commonwealth Games. To win another | :06:34. | :06:37.
major medal would be really really good. It's a con wealth games, they | :06:38. | :06:42.
only happen every four years. It's the one thing I've never won. Yeah, | :06:43. | :06:46.
that's very important for me to win that. Whatever the event, these | :06:47. | :06:52.
remarkable brothers are likely to win medals, as long as they are | :06:53. | :06:55.
injury free. And that'll be the key to a successful summer. All athletes | :06:56. | :07:00.
worry about injuries, Bryony Page has had a few of those. For many | :07:01. | :07:07.
years she thought her path to to the top had been blocked by something | :07:08. | :07:11.
else. A mental block when she suffered from what is known in | :07:12. | :07:16.
trampolining as lost move syndrome. Losing her way through routines, she | :07:17. | :07:19.
thought she would never fulfil her potential, but she was part of the | :07:20. | :07:23.
British team that won world gold last year. She competes at the | :07:24. | :07:27.
European Championships next month in Portugal. Kate Grey went to watch | :07:28. | :07:30.
her prepare at her Sheffield training base. | :07:31. | :07:42.
There's like a point at the top of the jump where you are just | :07:43. | :07:48.
weightless and you feel like you can fly. It sounds so cheesy. Bryony | :07:49. | :07:54.
Page is one of Britain's brightest trampolining stars but her rise to | :07:55. | :07:57.
the top has been far from straightforward. Back in 2007, she | :07:58. | :08:02.
suffered a crisis of confidence that threatened her career. I made a | :08:03. | :08:06.
mistake on one move and that was a move I was scared and eventually it | :08:07. | :08:10.
went to another move and then another one, and as soon it starts | :08:11. | :08:15.
spreading, you feel like you have no control over what you're doing for | :08:16. | :08:19.
the it's your mind and doing it. If you trying to save yourself from | :08:20. | :08:23.
getting hurt feeling like a failure. She battled with as mental block for | :08:24. | :08:26.
five years and wondered whether she would ever make it back. I just had | :08:27. | :08:32.
to teach myself again how to do everything, make sure I was | :08:33. | :08:35.
confident to see everything, and I knew what everything felt like. | :08:36. | :08:39.
There were times I didn't think I could do it but was no times I | :08:40. | :08:43.
thought I would give up. I couldn't leave the sport numbing that I | :08:44. | :08:47.
didn't reach my potential. -- knowing I couldn't reach my | :08:48. | :08:52.
potential. She managed to conquer her Demons butter problems didn't | :08:53. | :08:55.
end there. She missed London 2012 through injury but then went on to | :08:56. | :08:58.
win the World Cup the two years running and bounced back. I would | :08:59. | :09:06.
like to retain my title. I would really like to get on the European | :09:07. | :09:10.
team and the World Championships team. I've become so much stronger | :09:11. | :09:14.
as a person and an athlete. Although it was the most difficult thing I've | :09:15. | :09:17.
had to go through, trampolining, it's something I love doing. I | :09:18. | :09:22.
wouldn't take it away because I've become so much more robust. And more | :09:23. | :09:27.
confident in my abilities. Good luck to her. What ups and downs are we | :09:28. | :09:32.
going to have in Formula One this season? One race down, 18 to go. It | :09:33. | :09:35.
was typically tropical for the teams in Malaysia this morning. Hot and | :09:36. | :09:40.
wet conditions to test the drivers. There are highlights of qualifying | :09:41. | :09:44.
for tomorrow's Grand Prix in the next 20 minutes on BBC One. Suzie | :09:45. | :09:52.
Perry is in Kuala Lumpur. Catch up with Formula one qualifying later on | :09:53. | :09:56.
today. Our complete build-up with features starring a young hotshot | :09:57. | :10:07.
from McLaren. Magnusson. Join David and me after the news on BBC One. We | :10:08. | :10:15.
certainly will. The British men's wheelchair basketball team are the | :10:16. | :10:18.
reigning European Champions. About half the squad are spread around | :10:19. | :10:22.
Europe playing for club sides in Spain, Germany and Italy. That's | :10:23. | :10:25.
where Ian Sagar, one of their stars, is playing his basketball, | :10:26. | :10:31.
this is wheelchair basketball Italian style. Ian Sagar is about | :10:32. | :10:38.
abroad cheered on by a sell-out crowd in the semifinals of the Cobra | :10:39. | :10:44.
Italia. It's a great experience. The reason I've come out and played in | :10:45. | :10:48.
Italy, the league is so strong, it's not like I'm a disabled person | :10:49. | :10:52.
playing sport but an athlete playing sport. Who happens to be disabled. | :10:53. | :10:57.
It's such a rough to leak which suits me down to the ground. You | :10:58. | :11:00.
have got to mix it with the best players in the world just to see | :11:01. | :11:03.
where you are failing and to improve your game. You can't get better | :11:04. | :11:08.
without being challenged. You got a sporting family here. Definitely. I | :11:09. | :11:15.
think it's a good thing. Would you thought at 31 you would be in Italy | :11:16. | :11:18.
with your family playing professional basketball? It's life, | :11:19. | :11:23.
I can see me doing this for the long run, really. Now I'm here in this | :11:24. | :11:27.
situation, I wouldn't give it up for the world. It's a lively couldn't | :11:28. | :11:32.
have imagined after breaking his back 15 years ago. One I had a | :11:33. | :11:35.
motorbike accident, I was in hospital for four months. The first | :11:36. | :11:41.
time you get above the three month what they really want your stomach | :11:42. | :11:44.
so they push you run the hospital on the trolley, and I looked over | :11:45. | :11:49.
sports all through the windows and there were some guys playing | :11:50. | :11:52.
wheelchair basketball and I thought, I want to have a go of that. The | :11:53. | :12:00.
club's biggest fan and president witnessed a trouble winning season | :12:01. | :12:06.
last year. But success on the world stage is still Ian Sagar's | :12:07. | :12:08.
motivation of the great Britain's fourth finish at the Paralympics. To | :12:09. | :12:15.
just miss out narrowly, it's heartbreaking. Although it was the | :12:16. | :12:18.
best experience of my life. It is one of the worst. To miss out on a | :12:19. | :12:24.
medal. Can you win the Italian league? Hopefully so. We are | :12:25. | :12:29.
defending champions. As defending champions, we want to keep the | :12:30. | :12:38.
title, keep the cup. Cup final day and Ian is an exemplary form but | :12:39. | :12:43.
against a more clinical apparent, there were not able to match their | :12:44. | :12:46.
opponents and they conceded the title. They were just better. They | :12:47. | :12:53.
are going to get you at the end of the day. Unfortunately, they have | :12:54. | :12:57.
just fallen short are today. The Italian job is still very much a | :12:58. | :13:02.
work in progress. Now they're going the world Championship glory. And, | :13:03. | :13:08.
for the man living history and, a medal in Korea would be the icing on | :13:09. | :13:12.
the cake. That's just about it for Saturday Sportsday. Let's just bring | :13:13. | :13:16.
you up to date with the two football matches going on this lunchtime. At | :13:17. | :13:25.
Old Trafford, the banner was spotted over Old Trafford. A few disgruntled | :13:26. | :13:28.
Manchester United fans even more disgruntled now because Aston Villa | :13:29. | :13:33.
have taken the lead through Westwood. 1-0. What pressure on | :13:34. | :13:44.
David Moyes there. In the Championship, Leicester are leading | :13:45. | :13:50.
Burnley 1-0. First against second. That is it from all of us. Goodbye. | :13:51. | :13:52. |
