Scarlets v Connacht Scrum V Live Pro 12

So the spring has arrived. The clocks have gone forward and the

rugby season is heading towards an intriguing climax. The Scarlets will

be hoping it heralds a new dawn as they seek to return to winning ways

and secure a place in the new European order.

The Scarlets have the talent to stay in the top six but do they have the

bottle? Today, they face it: zero side on a forward roll. They

steam-rollered the Dragons last Sunday. Now the men from the West of

Ireland have their site said an Llanelli. They may not be fighting

for their place in the top four but both teams are desperate to be in

the top flight in Europe next season. To do that, they need to

finish in the top six. Connacht are on their best run of form for a

decade. Good afternoon and welcome to the programme. I am delighted to

say that joining me at a former back and coach with the Scarlets. Your

area of expertise, the forwards. It has become a weapon in decent

seasons. They are at biggest a difficult pack today. Games are won

and lost up front. Their recent win last week and recent performances

have been based on a dominant set piece. The scrum is exceptionally

powerful. That is control. It is a key area but this is from a

line-out, the driving line-out is fantastic. It is controlled and

patient. By driving through, more often than not, they can sprint it

away. This is just another example where they change the direction of

the drive by moving the ball away. Then, that is just power. Great

angles. The hooker goes across. That is a dominant area for them. Behind,

they have a tactical man in Dan Parks who has the ability to get the

ball where it matters. That would give them the ability to dominate

upfront. You used to score tries for fun for the Scarlets. You get your

first performance. Liam Williams has been exceptional. His last game for

Wales against Scotland, he showed a nice turn of pace. He showed the

dummy and then a nice off-load. He looks confident. He looks keen to

get into the line-up put up he is keen to make an impression. He was

instrumental in the win against Scotland. I am looking forward to

make things from the youngster today. A nice Dave. They have some

fantastic other tax as well. Jonathan Davies and Rhys

Priestland. I have been talking to the coaching staff and Rhys

Priestland is excited to be getting back on the field. With Olly Barkley

as well, he will be taking the pressure off. He will be keen to get

back on the field to express themselves ready for the tour to

South Africa. The Kristian Phillips on the wing as well for some

exciting times. It all starts up front. C how it goes. The teams are

coming out. The conditions are fantastic today. No excuse not to

fling the ball around. Let us join our commentary team now.

An absolutely fabulous day in Llanelli. For the third week in a

row, Pat Lam is able to choose an unchanged side. We have Dan Parks to

control things. 34 tries in the rubber direct for

Fionn Carr. The Scarlets no that given the chance, Connacht will use

the power up front. It is a crucial game, 4-point advantage for the

Scarlets. They are looking to hang on to the final European place for

next year. Details of the competition will be announced during

the coming week before the eyes and teas are dotted and crossed.

Rhodri Jones gets his first league start of the season.

Rhys Priestland makes his first start for the Scarlets since the

turn of the year. Lewis Rawlins is a new face for the

Scarlets. Rhys Priestland up and down in the Six Nations. He is now

looking for a strong finish to the end of the season. He wants to make

sure he is challenging for a place on the summer tour to South Africa.

Neil Paterson of Scotland gets the game underway. Such an important

game in the sun bathed Park macro. -- Parc y Scarlets. This is a huge

game. Not the greatest start by Rhys Priestland. Probably a little bit

nervous. He gives the opponents the first attacking opportunity. This

will be interesting. The first scrum. A weapon of the Scarlets this

year. We saw what damage Connacht did last week against the Dragons.

Plenty of options open to Connacht. Robbie Henshaw at full-back is

always a threat as well. The timing of the run was not what

it should be by Connacht. Crossing in front of the number eight, he was

tackled whether he had the ball or not. It was quickly taken by the

Scarlets. This is a great start for the

Scarlets. Jonathan Davies gets them on the scoreboard immediately.

Incredible trade. Great passing and great pace.

Look at that ball from Rhys Priestland. Perfect. Light over the

top of Dan Parks. Jonathan Davies act as a link man. Great pace from

Jordan Williams. The best option was on the inside with Jonathan Davies.

You have to take your hat off to Gareth Davies. The quick thinking

right from the start. We knew the Scarlets wanted to play rugby. From

the first penalty, quickly taken, and a great way for the skipper to

kick things off. The disappointment at the kicker is already forgotten

with a five pointer in the opening couple of minutes.

That is the kind of kick Rhys Priestland would have wanted. What a

dream start for the Scarlets. Seven points ahead after just three

minutes. It does not surprise me. I spoke to Mark Jones before the game.

He said they would look to run everything and keep it alive as much

as they can. It is perfect track for it. Quite spectacular. That is hope

none of the cloud came in late because they would have missed a

cracking start. Rhys Priestland from his own

A-levels have a great kick quickly taken.

Just a little pop-up which rarely tested the concentration of the

defence from the Scarlets. Olly Barkley, Mark Jones said they would

throw the ball around. But unlike Olly Barkley and Rhys Priestland,

both comfortable with the ball in hand. Some great pace behind as

well. A great little past to play.

Everyone was expecting a wide out ball. Well met Pope the Scarlets 's

defence. The leading point scorer adds

another three to his tally. He is way out in front of everyone. Dan

Parks gets Connacht 's first points. That is a better one. Just

catching slightly in the wind. A little dummy.

They just seemed to lose it in the air. Plenty of support outside with

Liam Williams and Jordan Williams. It is perfect conditions out there.

The Scarlets was sure they can drive a line-out as well.

A great pick-up by Ken Owens. Really well done on the move.

That is the kind of tackle Liam Williams enjoys putting in. Straight

through. The previous knock-on advantage to

team has gone so they will have to use it from here. -- to Connacht.

Kristian Phillips has dislocated a finger, I think, in that tackle. He

is just trying to put it back again. Play continues and the Scarlets and

a man down. That is right that is a gap. Great work by Liam Williams, a

brilliant turnover. Gareth Davies finds a bit of space behind. There

is only Dan Parks there. He won't run this.

That is the safest prediction this year!

Look at that, the great tackle around the ankles. He is amazing in

the contact area. Didn't take the dummy. Driven into the ground. Just

loves the contact, doesn't he? Such a great game against Scotland as

well. Jonathan Davies flings it out wide.

Jordan Williams. If he had been able to control that, that would've a

spectacular effort. He is such a live wire with a live wire with the

ball in hand. You can see where the spaces. The ball bounced into his

hands. A great chip over there. There has been three or four

opportunities were spaces has been created on the outside and they just

can't get the final pass out there. But it has set the tone for the day.

The opening ten minutes have been a riot of rugby. A bit different to

Friday night. The divisions will bit different as well. It was absolutely

freezing in Glasgow. And we have even had a pasty in the

press room at Parc Mac. Connacht have got themselves a

scrum. David McSharry working together ball back.

Pressure put on Dan Parks there. A pretty solid scrum. The reward is a

line-out to the Scarlets, just outside the 22. There is a chance

there to get a bit of ball in hand. Olly Barkley did well. Jonathan

Davies with the short ball. Ken Owens couldn't control it at the

groan of disappointment from the crowd shows what their expectations

are now after they saw the Scarlets setting of the store also early on.

They are looking to rent Connacht ragged this afternoon.

You can see it straightaway. There is a man who couldn't wait to get

back into the Scarlets shirt. He has trained well all week and has looked

forward to this game. A bit of an up Six Nations for him. But he is such

a talent. We saw what he did in the World Cup in 2011 and a height he

hacked. -- the heights he hit. This game is tailor-made for him.

It's just not about running from everywhere.

Just trysts at the last. That would have been Rhys Priestland's left. It

remains at 7-3. The Scarlets had two defeats before

this game, two away. Before you can go wide, you have to

go forward and that is what Ken Owens has done.

A lot of pressure on Olly Barkley. That is the third time he has had

ball in hand and no space whatsoever. A very good signing. He

has signed on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Just beaten by the touchline. That is a very good kick by Dan Parks. A

lot of work for Jordan Williams. Tiernan O'Halloran was motoring

Betty ran out of space. He passes straight to Fionn Carr. That is what

Dan Parks loves, the crossfield kick. He is so accurate.

The luxury of having Rhys Priestland or Olly Barkley as kickers.

Not going anywhere. It is Rhodri Jones doing the work at the

breakdown. The drop is so difficult to move in that position. -- the

prop. They will be plenty of room around

Dan Parks to attack. That creates space out wide. It is whether the

Scarlets can exploit that. I have played with him in centre and you

have got to keep your eye on him. Brilliant hands by Ian Williams. It

was so tight that. Look at that. Over the shoulder. As we have seen

more of Liam Williams, we have seen more of his skill set. The more fans

he gets as well! Timani is flat-out after the last

passage of play. A great hit there again. Two hits.

Look at this one, back on his feet. He steals it straightaway. This is a

great ball for Rhys Priestland. That was the try that came within

two minutes. The Scarlets managements will be pretty pleased

with that one. Let's find out now. Marc Jones, you told me before you

would keep it alive. The boys are attacking the space well. We had an

extra yard of that. We have had more time on the ball. It is good intent

of the moments we got to make sure we have the accuracy. I we going to

see more of its? Hopefully. We were keep on playing that way. Let's see

if Connacht do try to defend in that fashion. Still, only one try in the

couple of minutes. What was that for? Crossing. Even

when Liam Williams 40 was down, he wasn't. Very harsh! There was a

little push in the back. I love watching him play.

Let's see how much contact there was an what contact -- affect it had. A

little push on the arm. I think it was more forwards

backtracking with Phil John pushing into him. But there are three solid

different thing. -- the referee saw it differently.

Despite all the intense baby Scarlets, it is the boot of Dan

Parks that makes it a 1-point game. Connacht and only one point behind.

One missed penalty for Rhys Priestland.

A great anger about Rhys Priestland there. Just throws a bit of a blind

pass. -- great angle. Got over the gain line, got to get hold of that.

Good work by Rhodri Jones. They are looking pretty flash. Can they do

the business? They would be very interested to see

how he goes today. Wales need to settle and the halfback partnership

before the World Cup. The first run from a similar distance faded

towards the end. That one stays straight and true.

Relief for the Scarlets. A very good kick baked Rhys Priestland. He

enjoyed that one. It is important to keep this scoreboard ticking over.

They went to throw the ball wide but they also want to keep an eye on the

penalty count of Connacht. You know that Dan Parks will keep Connacht in

the game given the opportunity to go for goal or given the opportunity to

go for dropped goals. Great hands. A chance for the

Scarlets. Could not get their on time. It has gone forwards. What a

shame. A great break there by Gareth Davies. Great hands. Look at that,

just a flick up. He sells a dummy to Dan Parks and he it through. -- he

is through. He is looking on the outside. John Barclay gets the

initial flick back. That is great work. Unfortunately, for the

Scarlets, could not quite present the skipper with a second. There was

a great support line thereby Jonathan Davies. A great dummy.

Great pace to get away from sub Jonathan Davies comes inside. Gareth

Davies was just not able to fall the right way. The delivery was needed

one stride earlier. Gareth Davies could not get himself into the

position to do so. We are lucky in Wales at the moment with some very

good scrum halves coming through. Rhys Webb has featured a little bit.

Gareth Davies is certainly up there. He is the leading try scorer in the

league with eight. Rhodri Williams got to try against Scotland. Rhys

Webb had a nasty knee injury on Friday night. He was taken to

hospital in Glasgow on Friday night. He will have met some sort there, I

am sure! Seven stone advantage for the

Scarlets in the pack. The Connacht scrum has looked pretty steady.

Rodney Ah You from New Zealand is the biggest of them. He qualified

for Ireland back in October. He was called up for training with the

Irish Six Nations squad. The pressure from the Scarlets

destroys the Irish scrum. They just destroyed the scrum. The pack

destroyed the Dragons last week was up and shows you how good and tight

the Scarlets 's pack has become. The coach has turned the pack into a

real threat. He is going to Bristol next year but he is back one day a

week. He will be missed. That is the kind of scrimmage expertise the

Scarlets want to hang onto. Against the post and back out. Fionn

Carr 's kick is still in play. Ken Owens. It is back to the running

game. Kristian Phillips pops up outside Olly Barkley. It has been

turned over. Not that well protected and that occasion. John Barclay in

on the side to give them the luxury of allowing Dan Parks to clear after

they sort out the kerfuffle behind them. You must have been curling at

that? The sun is shining. The stars have come to play and it looks as if

Gareth is getting a lot of football. No decision has been made yet. We

are looking at possibilities and probabilities. At this moment in

time, the season will finish on the 10th of May. We have our first test

on June the 14th. South Africa play in the world 15 the week before. We

are looking at preparation and what would be best for the players. That

is good to see the back three. They played particularly well against

Scotland. It is good to see the Scarlets moving. Thank you.

Brilliant footwork by Jordan Williams. They got themselves out of

a hole. That is the kind of quality we saw in the Junior world

championship. That was incredible. Just tipped down the touchline. He

slips, picks it up. He does him like a keeper. I do not know how many

changes of direction were there, but it was superb. The defenders were

beaten in that move. One of them, twice.

Fionn Carr was screaming for it on the left wing. He and some of the

other players in midfield cannot believe what happened there.

REFEREE: You have to allow the turnover. Have a word. Skipper, wait

there for us. Number 71 the turnover there. There was nothing in it. Let

us play. Let us see what he is talking about.

There is a man there who knows things about turnovers. Between

those three, they have done a good job with the Scarlets.

One drifted just right of the right-hand post. The other hit it.

If he is getting closer by degrees, this one should be just inside. That

is exactly where it is. The two penalties of Dan Parks negated by

two from Rhys Priestland . A 7-point lead is re-established at the end of

the first half. They have had a couple of tracks at the line and off

the scrum. It will be nice to see the backs checking it wide. --

throwing it away. Henshaw is still down after taking

the ball last time. Somehow, it came back on the side of

the Scarlets. Liam Williams running at the line. A lovely off-load to

Josh Turnbull. Jake Ball arrives. Straight down the middle. Varying

the point of attack. They are looking for the off-load. Waiting

until support arrives. It's built forwards. So many good elements in

that builder. -- build up. Let's have a look from the start. A lovely

off-load. Kept the ball alive so well.

The good fall thereby Ken Owens. He didn't quite expect this, that he!

It is a shame because Rhodri Jones has been good over the ball. Fair

play to Johan Snyman. He was looking for the early off-load, when it did

not come he didn't panic. Those little balls that the coaching

team will be worried about. The final pass isn't quite going to

plan. That is a sentiment echoed everywhere, I dare say.

Just four minutes of the first half remaining. The only thing that'll be

other slight wordy to the Scarlets is they are only seven points clear.

Only a converted try to be hauled back to level terms. That was easy

to cope with by Tiernan O'Halloran and he is off running.

The dead ball line when said. Just shows you how dangerous Connacht can

be. A little live wire, Fionn Carr. Henshaw has looked good this half as

well. That was good tracking back I

Kristian Phillips. That man there, he will be the danger man for

Connacht. That is exactly what will be on the

Scarlets mind. The little slip-up like that and they could be on level

terms after dominating in possession and territory.

Henshaw, again, making something out of nothing.

Liam Williams not missing the tackle. Plenty of support. Some in

PDA non-John Barclay. But pass was given forward. They will be brought

back. That's was a pretty good left-handed pass. Like a pinball.

Just not absorbing the hits. Cut back inside. He didn't really have

support with him. That is the danger man. He saw Jake Ball ahead of them

and thoughts it is a chance to go on the outside. Connacht have come here

to play. They have confidence in winning four in a row.

I think we know what is going to happen if they get any field

position five metres out of the Scarlets line.

Connacht just four points behind the Scarlets in the battle for six and a

potential place in the new European competition next year. It is a very

big game indeed. The Scarlets have one more shot

together better width and a late try to go the early one. Most of the

attacks have been off the top of the line-out. I would like to see him

try to go slightly wider, pretty tight.

Looks like this will be the final play of the half. Kristian Phillips

puts it out of play. Will there be time for the line-out? Yes, they

will. One more line-out. Presumably Connacht will be happy

just to put it out. Very enterprising from the Scarlets

from the. The only script -- try was scored by Jonathan Davies right at

the beginning. The Scarlets have a half-time lead. Let's think what the

skipper thinks of it. To be fair to Connacht they had a

good result last week. We need to make sure we keep our accuracy in

the last 20 place indecent. -- decent stuff. Keep checking it

It was Jonathan Davies, the captain, who opened the scoring

after two minutes at Park Michael -- Parc y Scarlets. His penalties

have been cancelled out by two from Rhys Priestland. 13-6 is the score

at half-time. Let's have a quick look at the statistics.

We will talk about handling errors in a minute. They have made seven

crucial handling errors. It has been a pretty decent game. The conditions

are perfect. We have seen a fair bit of enterprise. It was a first --

good build-up to the first try. You could see the intense baby Scarlets.

They wanted to stay away from the set pieces and exploit it out wide.

We have seen Liam Williams who has had a good run at the moment. It is

looking very promising but I think they need to vary it a little bit.

The gaps will open up. Just the one try so far and we have barely got

into the studio when they crossed the line. It was a fantastic

effort. It was. It was about playing what was in front of you. If we

look, it is Gareth Davies to identify the fact these guys are

going back. There is a load of players in midfield to this has to

be -- there has to be space out wide. Then you have got three on

one. Jordan Williams, who has looked sharp, he takes it up to the

full-back. He has got Jonathan Davies inside and Liam Williams

outside. Two options and he picks the right one. Donovan Davies goes

in. You look at Dan Parks here. He doesn't know where to stand. He is

not communicating to his winger. A classy act with Jonathan Davies

following the pass inside and a well worked try. And parks was out of

position. Gareth Thomas made exactly the same point this time last week.

The trying to protect them. The way he stands, he stands in the number

13 channel because he doesn't like a contact. What he's doing there is

not committing. He needs to make a decision and communicate with his

backs and to talk. He is into mindsets and he is exploited. He

mused opportunity where the opportunities were. Connacht

expected them to kick to the touchline. Dan Parks had to make a

decision. He made the wrong decision. We picked up Liam Williams

at the start of the game and he is living up to the hype. He has done

exceptionally well. He had two big hits to start with. Try was back.

Good body technical position but he has the awareness. He gets the steel

and another positive. Look at that. It is great to see him. He is

building up a little bit of confidence. He could have gone

either way. You can see what he's trying to do. He has that deceptive

pace but he has the awareness as well to create overloads and flows.

He is a free spirit. He is allowed to play. The Scarlets have given in

that option and freedom. He is the top tackler as well. Seven tackles

for Liam Williams. It has been a half for love opportunities for the

Scarlets. They could be further ahead. They have created a fair bit.

They have attacked the Dan Parks channel. But it does open up other

opportunities. In the second half they have to take advantage of this.

This was an opportunity that was missed. Gareth Davies, a great

break. That pass has to go now. It has to go early enough. The

probability is he would've been under the posts, Gareth Davies held

onto it little bit too long. They are looking to try things. It is a

great day, Jonathan Davies said they wanted to play rugby. They have got

40 minutes to do that. You may be able to hear the school choir giving

us some popular songs. For the second Sunday running you get to

school and fives on-air. We have got David Moffett who is back in Wales

are putting the cat amongst the pigeons. Listen to a full interview

with him this evening. Dragons welcome Edinburgh to Rodney Parade

weekend of rugby as always. All of our well students have been in

action. Let's remind ourselves of what has happened. It is a battle

between fourth and fifth on Friday night. Glasgow and Ospreys went

head-to-head. Ospreys have not beaten the Warriors for three years.

The Dragons will await to separate and looking to recover from last

week's lost to Connacht. The only managed to salvage a draw out in

Italy. The Cardiff Blues were hoping to give their home fans something to

shout about in their last home game of the season. But they were against

an Ulster side who had not lost this year. With a performance full of

pride and passion, they had a victory. Robin Copeland touching

down. What a turnaround for the Cardiff Blues. A fantastic result

for them and fantastic to see Matthew Rees coming onto the field.

A huge inspiration for us all. Let's see the rest of the results.

The Ospreys still cling onto their fourth place defeat at Glasgow. They

have a one point cushion. Things are getting ready close in the race for

the play-offs. Ten to head back to fill. I am joined by Phil Bennett.

They will have two finish in sixth place to qualify but the new

European competition. That is a lot on for it. The Scarlets have to

finish in sixth place to be in the top echelon. Who has impressed you

with the Scarlets? Liam Williams has been outstanding. He is

counterattacking and he sees things in front of him. He is playing

brilliantly put up Gareth Davies is looking very dangerous. Breaking

very well. It is a well matched game. Fionn Carr is playing very

well for them. The Scarlets need to go out and get the victory and a

bonus point as well. Would you take Gareth Davies to South Africa? There

are so many great scrum halves in Wales. For me, the best is Gareth

Davies. I would love to see him go out to South Africa and getting the

experience. Going back to the sixth spot, how vital is it that we get to

regions in Europe next year? We have been so good with Wales over the

last decade, we have never done it at the regional level. The Irish

teams are always there. We need to teams in that competition. I would

love to be out there this afternoon or playing cricket. This is Cricket

weather. Always great to hear the thoughts of legend Phil Bennett.

This man here is perhaps the next incarnation of Phil Bennett. Great

footwork, magic feet and a real turn of pace. A pleasure to watch. He is

looking exceptionally sharp this afternoon. Look at this. He turns

him inside out and then he has the awareness to put the ball in front

of him and ran onto it. He has had five carries and he gets involved.

That is what you want to see. He is so dangerous and sharp. You will

come away with a try in the second half I am sure. Some have suggested

he is too small to step up to test status question Mike -- test status?

He is a solid player. Exceptional footwork. I would love to see him

get an opportunity over the next 12 months. He could experience the

international setup and environment was up he could take that form onto

the international field. With Liam Williams and Jordan Williams, they

can create from deep. They need to vary and change their lines a little

bit. That is a lot of space out there. They could get two or three

tries in the second half. Hopefully, we will see a good win and eight

bonus point. Before we throw back to the commentary team, just a quick

word on Matthew Rees put up a cracking when for the Cardiff Blues

last night? To have beaten cancer and it into the pitch was

phenomenal. He has worked hard throughout his cancer treatment. He

has not stopped training for the key kept going. See him on the field,

you talk about role models, he is one of those. Enormous

congratulations to him and great to see him back on the bed. The

Scarlets and Connacht and now back on the pitch. Welsh on which

commentary. Richard Kelly has come an -- on. At

the head of Rhodri Jones. It was not a knock on. Play on. Jonathan Davies

with a deft little kick. Beautifully taken by Kristian Phillips. As he

tried to transfer rate, he dropped it. Jonathan Davies court

agonisingly short of another try. What a great pick-up there. The

right idea. As he transferred from his side back

into two hands, Fionn Carr managed to dislodge it. He never quite had

full control over it. But, for me, this half needs to see the Scarlets

attacking smart and mixing things up a little bit. Plenty of space.

There was a retreating Connacht scrum. But they managed to get it

away. Liam Williams with a lot of ground to cover to follow up his own

kick. A good recovery boot. The wind is

possibly favouring Connacht in the second half. A crater covered a

tackle from the full-back. He throws a loose pass. We have had four or

five of those from the Scarlets. Perhaps they are trying to play too

much rugby. They need to tighten it up a little bit. Again, Liam

Williams not looking to put the ball out. The change of mind from Dan

Parks Allsop eating to indicate he was going aerial. He should have

gone aerial. Clear instructions. Neil Paterson

has been pretty consistent this afternoon. He slips.

They have fine margins in the breakdown. It is the interpretation

of the referee as well. He found the post down the other end

in the first half. Eddie Peto Rhys Priestland in the second. -- a

repeat for Rhys Priestland in the second.

We have a bit of trivia. Kieran Marmion in the scrum, his father was

a student in Cardiff and taught at Brecon. His son is now at Brecon .

In theory, you could have Welsh qualification. Is there any reason

why he cannot play for Wales? No. The Scarlets are looking to score

before they impose themselves on the game. The Scarlets have the

strongest of set piece. I would like to see them get a few line-out,

scrums, attacking opportunities. Much more direct from the Scarlets.

Good angle from Olly Barkley put up an off-load. Josh Turnbull does not

quite have the pace to get there. He is half a metre short for that they

are queueing up. As Richard Kelly got the ball to ground? No. Held up

says Patterson. That is such a shame. Great

inter-passing here. Jordan Williams does well to get the ball out wide

to Josh Turnbull. Neil Paterson was perfectly

positioned. Substitution in the front row. A New Zealander for a New

Zealander. Nathan White comes an instead of Rodney Ah You.

Jason Harris-Wright just getting his boot back on. He will be an integral

part of the defensive scrum. It'll be interesting to see Dan Parks

here. Not the greatest of tacklers. Kristian Phillips has come of the

discussing with Rob Howley earlier how well blessed we are with

scrum-half in Wales, to have been injured this weekend. We could be

too down. I think this is where he gets injured. Oh, dear, it is that

He has got all the attributes. Rhodri Williams is Warren Gatland's

man. Gareth Davies, had he stayed fit, would have been on that plane.

The extra game against the Eastern province Kings the week before the

south -- the first test. Gareth Davies is up on his feet, knocked

exactly running around. I understand it isn't as bad as it looks. It is

just a severe bed like. He is up on his feet. He is rubbing his left

thigh, it looks like a bed like rather than the ankle injury we

first thought. He was playing so well. I think I will leave my

medical profession they're! I thought it was the right ankle but

not full stop very good news. Great support IT in the Halliburton.

He puts the ball behind the defence and looking for the bounce which has

been tricky and a couple of locations. Rhodri Williams has

covered well since he has come on. Henshaw has looked very strong in

attack and the great angles. -- angle there. Not much else Rhodri

It depends where you jump from. If you jump on the inside of the line,

play on. I thought that was a bit harsh.

The sun breaks through again as the Scarlets go in search of their

a brand new challenge and a Levitt. I have been a fan of the Scarlets

for years. Getting a chance to work with them is like playing for them.

For me, it was the Connacht loose head who had his hand on the ground.

Twists and turns to within a couple of metres of the try line. The ball

is well laid back. Great tackling. Just short again. They are so close.

They try to duck under the tacklers. It is floated out wide to Darragh

Leader. The Dutch flag is up. That is a great cover tackle. Fair play.

Connacht did their best to fluff that drive. A great tackle by Jordan

Williams. Nice and low. Like drive. -- a leg drive. Plenty of commitment

there. There is no doubting his attack. There was nothing wrong with

that tackle. That was very well executed. A try saver. It is all

about commitment and attitude. It was a dangerous throw. They were

it and lost it. It is easy for Fionn Carr. That was nice. Very nice.

The Scarlets rush up and cut off the pads. That was a lovely chip. Of the

left. Anything Dan Parks can do X wish

could win Connacht a losing bonus point.

He has got it. That was perfectly judged. Connacht are sitting on the

bonus point at the moment. Fionn Carr has been dangerous all day. He

just had the legs to get over. The momentum has changed a little

bit now. The Scarlets have eight minutes. Rhodri Jones departs.

Connacht are now back within getting a draw from this. The Scarlets have

to beware. A good kick. It curls back into

play. The crowd were ready to applaud a great kick. Darragh Leader

That is an excellent start by Connacht. The game was seemingly

over but Fionn Carr had other thoughts. Just jogging. Gets into

fourth gear. He is away. Great support there. This is a huge kick.

Me and the caller has only been on the field a few minutes and he has

had to testing convergence. -- me any caller. He just likes the bottom

of the post. What a let off for the Scarlets.

We were talking about the Scarlets getting the bonus point but now they

will be looking for the win. Four minutes, what a turnaround data has

been in the game. When Josh Turnbull got that a defect tried, -- got that

terrific try. Liam Williams has chased down

everything this afternoon. He loves it, doesn't he? A timely

moment for your man of the match. My man of the match today is the man on

form at the moment, there he is, Liam Williams. Just incredible. The

PC brings into the backline. The angles he hates. The off-load, the

hands. He is looking like the complete package at the moment. It

shows what a little bit of confidence can do to a player. The

Scarlets had so many chances to get the bonus point try but didn't take

any of them. Now they have to go searching again at the death.

minute -- as much of the minute as he can. That kick takes away team

at's losing bonus point. They have done so much. It lived up to the

opening game we expected. Connacht have one more chance to get a kick

from somewhere. The clock goes right. A last effort

for Connacht. They came within a whisker only to see it taken away

from them. They need to get within kicking distance. No Dan Parks to go

for a drop goal. That is brilliant work by Connacht. It is a fourth try

for them. They are going to get to bonus points. It was all about

concentration levels. Great support line again. Eoin McKeon gives

Connacht reason for celebrating. The Scarlets defence totally switched

off. Henshaw has been great all game. Hemant Fionn Carr. It is a

shame the Scarlets finished like that. Four tries for both teams but

the Scarlets get the all-important swing, only just.

It was an action packed first half and a try filled second. Gareth

Davies went over but then had to go. Josh Turnbull turned defence into

attack. Robbie Henshaw went over India

corner within minutes. That appeared to be the last of it but then the

Scarlets subsidies, Gareth Maule, crashed over and look to both the

Scarlets beyond reach. But this right at the very death means

Connacht come away with two bonus points. Wonderful for tries and one

of coming within seven points. Was that five points being told to

points conceded? You think you have got to show fair play to Connacht,

they came back into it. But at times we were a bit loose. We will take

five points out of that. We have got a comfortable cushion. A quick look

at that table. An interesting one. We said this would be probably be

pick of the bones. Liam Williams taking a risk but his was one that

paid. Rhys Priestland had the confidence to draw in the Connacht

defences. Kristian Phillips showing the pace and we see from him now and

again. Supports learners inside and out as always. Josh Turnbull showing

good speed to get to the try line. It was a fantastic game of rugby.

Both sides played the open spaces, played with freedom. That is the

type of quality game you will get. A breathless second half. It was

fantastic. Lovely to see them throwing the ball around. Liam

Williams played exceptionally well. It was great to see Kristian

Phillips getting late -- his hand on the ball. Fionn Carr was

exceptional. A great game but is played in the right frame of mind.

Great conditions of the great win for the Scarlets. They will be a

little bit gutted they left Connacht come back into it. We said it was an

elimination spot. They got the result, they got the win and that

was the key going into the game. The conceded two points. But they have

got everything they wanted out of it. If they conceal that way, they

will do well. We have to give Connacht credit. It is a real

contest. It's something to play for. It was great to see. Both teams

came with the frame of mind. It was great to see it. Thanks for your
