First derby of the season, cannot wait. Me neither. Great to see him

have the former Wales man with me. I have watched him several times, he

has got a great pass and he is deceptively quick. I am looking

forward to it. A billiards table surface. Expecting a big walk up. It

is looking pretty lively already. All these fans looking forward to it

as much as we are. This week it goes up a level. This

is a mouthwatering fixture. A change not entirely unexpected.

Returning to the club where he spent five years as a player.

I know he is licking his lips in anticipation between the battle

between the man who wants to position over. We just saw Dan Baker

and he will be up against Taulupe Faletau. A lovely parade. The

old-style wobbly ground. An old-style WorldCom. Two of the three

changes. Ian Gough returns back to the ground. Taulupe Faletau has his

first game of the season. Hallam Amos is back to. The home debut for

Captain Lee Byrne. The presence of five Welsh internationals gives the

Dragons a stronger looking bench. Sam Parry has changed allegiance

over the summer. His weight is over. He is now back in the starting

line-up for a big occasion. For a big occasion, we have the best

official for the bunch, Nigel Owens. So we only have two weight two weeks

for the first big Welsh derby of the new season. Dan Biggar gets the game

underway. The catch is caught there but the Dragons are immediately back

and oppression. Jonathan Evans weights. Full is the

stadium, they will be happy to get some breathing space there. The

fireworks have made it look a bit misty in the stadium. It is great to

see him come through his first game last week unscathed. Scott Baldwin

has try scorer last week. Barnardo would take and to South African

second rows facing each other here. It is another interesting talking

points. It is about the players from foreign parts with a view to spend

three years and then trying to don the worst jersey. They test the

Dragons defence early doors. Bishop here clocking up 200 games for the

Ospreys last week. He is the second player to do so.

They are going nowhere. It is high fives and backslapping all around

from the Dragons. Showing that they are up for this. The Ospreys will

have two work as hard as they did last week. Good shape, good mix. A

good job done against Treviso. Very hungry Dragons side. Big hit. A big

one too. In first, over the ball. Boris Stankovich throwing his hands

up into the air. He won the penalty. A loose pass though. Meant for

Dixon. Didn't reach. Could be a bit of space on the outside. Trying to

get in the outside channel. Get over the gain line. Put behind him, to

Bishop. Plenty of possession. Nicky Smith eyes up the gap. Great step

and good off-load. What a skill set from the loosehead. Matavesi backs

himself. Enterprise from the Ospreys. Pudding with solid but also

feeding the big fellas in the middle. Just got beaten to it by Dan

Biggar. Enough for them to reclaim possession. Beaten in the tackle

area, the ball turned over by the Dragons. Dixon dips the shoulder,

takes the hit. Back to Jonathan Evans. Mr Fairbrother. Picked up by

Stankovich. Playing for position. Dan Evans is going long. He will

settle for that. And settle down again. Very lively at the start from

both sides. That was the Ospreys last weekend.

Yes, that was unusual. Bernardo gets another this week. A good kick by

Rhys Webb as well. Man of the match last week but just look at this. And

early break from a loosehead. In the scrummaging game with that, all the

best sides have props that can give you that. You cannot put a value on

a loosehead that can offer you that sort of ball play. A few scrummages

as well and that is quite an offering.

Goes for the break, on the inside. Coming from Hallam Amos. Didn't come

from how Amos. Very aware of the possibilities on the counter -- from

Hallam Amos. Certainly looking to attack, every chance they can,

keeping the ball in hand again. A loose pass, picked up by James King.

Plenty of white shirts outside him, inside as well, to Matavesi, Alun

Wyn Jones, and here comes the attack from the Dragons. It is one way and

then the other. Fowler DME. At Eli Walker. We are expecting

some big collisions. Will he come over to the far weighing, to Eli

Walker? He is around his ankles. To Lewis Evans. The Dragons up to the

22. Stankovich back-up on his feet and carrying. Great start to a game

from both teams. Coming up very quickly in midfield. Typical

umbrella defence, pushing him in the middle. Back it comes to Stankovich

once again. Evans trying to take it one-handed. Advantage being played

and Dan Evans looking to make use of that advantage but in the end they

come back for a scrum. To fantastic start to a game of rugby. Both sides

are so positive. One on ones all over the pitch. You mustn't

underestimate as well the ambition that still exists at ten. He is up

against bigger, the incumbent for Wales. -- he is up against Dan

Biggar. Not an out and out seven, in the Ospreys colours. Yes, we

identified before the game that this could be a slight problem for the

Ospreys. They've gone through a few phases of play and it has been

relatively quick ball as well. What he does is stops you affecting the

speed of ball, which affect your defensive line, which means you get

shortened up pretty quick. We have seen the Dragons, they're all

attention is pretty quick but we have yet to see a turnover from the

Ospreys. I like the look of him, on the up, good season last year even

though the Dragons struggled a bit. A genuine seven, great quality at

the breakdown, all the qualities that you want in a seven. Just made

one appearance that the Scarlet 's. His home-town club. He is from the

village of pond Henry. -- pond he got the try for the Dragons last

week out in Galway. In that losing bonus point defeat.

Nigel Owens certainly knows what he wants. He is not shy of producing

cards if he doesn't get it sorted out. Lads, we spoke in the changing

law before the game, the law is quite specific -- the changing room

before the game. You are not giving me the space. It is as simple as

that, space. Watch your own feet. Interesting, he Dragons have Boris

Stankovich, seven years with the Leicester Tigers, and Lloyd

Fairbrother, who has joined from the Exeter Chiefs. Against Nicky Smith

and Adam Jarvis and Elliot Dee. Scott Baldwin caps for Wales. It has

gone against Stankovich. I think that's a fair decision. It may not

have been a whistle for Stankovich but Fairbrother chewing the dirt as

well. That is tactical from the front

five. A very pacey start. Nothing like a few reset scrums to get your

lungs back. Faletau with the throw. But it is

not straight. Lets see what happens this time

round. It has gone down. On the near side, it is Fairbrother against

Nicky Smith. Came from the touch judge. We used to seeing this early

on with the scrums. The touch finder. He doesn't slip is buying.

It was interesting last week when the scrum went one way then the

other initially and then Nicky Smith and company took charge. That is

very good from Fairbrother. And Faletau through the gap. Stankovich

lost the ball in contact. And good defensive work, led by Bernardo.

Yes, the Dragons runners running hard. Well matched though.

A good gain line hit. CJ stander has carried on in the same way as last

week. He got two tries last week out into a Visa. In Edinburgh he had a

couple of kicks against Connacht. How cleared you need me to ask you

to give a space. Workers, if you don't get a space, I am blaming you.

Get the space. 30 minutes in, the frustration is showing. -- 13

minutes in. No doubt in that. That is a great, great try from the

Dragons. The feed mail may not have been straight. The crowd feeding off

it. The spirits lifting. Loved the drive. The Ospreys scrum held from

while. Dan Biggar... Sorry, Dan Baker needed a clean ball back. He

has moved it across into the far channel. The ball is not there to

him. To be fair, Dan Baker actually did pretty well.

A simple kick for Jason Tovey. Let's go pitch side for the first time.

When you have got a perfect tap of the ground, like it is tonight, how

encouraging is that for the players? It is fantastic, to be honest. Very

conducive to running rugby and you can see from the props, the front

row wanting to get the balls in hands. They want to express

themselves, the backs. They will probably express themselves in the

latter part of the game but will the Ospreys come and play field

position? A fantastic promise. Great rugby. Back to you, Gareth. Great

support coming right on his elbow. Jonathan Evans probing again. That's

a great hit from Alun Wyn Jones. We are certainly getting everything we

hoped for. It is the old excuse. Battling, the

scrum-half. There is the hit. At least he made it count. A shoulder

into Jonathan Evans. Dixon, handful. Elliot Dee. They continue to try and

develop the blindside. Faletau. Lewis Evans, unsung hero for the

Dragons, started every league game last season. Langman. Lovely hands.

Just too far for Faletau. I like it though. In fairness, both sides very

positive, not just looking for ruck after ruck to go forward in the

safety and comfort of the ground. Working for the off-load even in

contact and it is worth it. If you can get it away to a shoulder runner

it can really pay off. Going for the second row. Tries to squeeze it

away. There was space there. Great skills, great vision, but the pass,

as he was going to ground, not quite having the control it's needed. --

control it's needed. If you are going to be looking for those

off-load you have to have supporting players running shoulders time after

time after time. Your fitness levels have to be there. Interesting to see

that Hugh Bevan is back as fitness coach for the Dragons. Putting them

through their paces pre-season. A little battle developing between

him and Fairbrother. Nothing is giving. The youngster did show last

week that he will have a battle and emerge from it. This is interesting.

Is there foul play after the whistle, asks Nigel Evans, to Bevan.

-- to TMO seven. That is Lloyd Fairbrother. He will be 23 in

November. Those two props, the youngsters on the one side, lists

Stankovich on the far side is 34, up against Alan Jarvis, three caps for

Wales, back in 2012, before breaking a leg against the All Blacks. He has

come through now. Alan Jones is gone. I think we are looking at the

tight head side for the Ospreys. It has gone to ground. Carry on lads,

let's go. Baldwin reacts to something. Doesn't seem to be a lot.

Get the shoulder and get square. Crouch. Bind. Set. Jarvis's head

popped up. Yes, I thought that was going to be a penalty to the

Dragons. A long clearance from Dan Biggar. Makes good use of the boot.

But that is not out of play. Dan Biggar chasing Dan Evans's kick.

Phil Steele has made his way along side is and is with Kingsley Jones.

Last time we spoke a pair you were going rate of knots against Connacht

last season. This is a bit different this season? Yes, Lloyd Fairbrother

on your right hand side deserves a lot of credit. He is five foot four

and that is flattering him. It is a difficult opposition and I think

Nicky Smith is finding it tough. There are just a few scrums and I

have to keep working. The second row are working as well it must he said.

3-0 lead at this stage? You must be pleased. Yes, but we need to keep

going. Here comes Dan Baker for the Ospreys. Not through lack of trying

for either team that those points haven't come. Very nicely done, got

it right down to his foot. Good chasing by Matavesi. Good chasing

rugby by the Ospreys. Dan Baker showing what he can do if he gets

the platform. That wasn't the best of scrums but ounces one tackle,

fence off another, then he is in space -- but bounces one tackle. A

dinky kick, a pressure kick, very well done, forcing the scrum. He

will be begging his front five to just offer the platform. Especially

the tight head, Jarvis, in certain positions. You want to get a yard.

Precious little play in either 22 so far.

I wonder if they will go for another reset. It would be an indicator of

how they are feeling about the scrum. I suspect they might. There

they are, I thought they might have gone for catch and drive. They are

obviously feeling comfortable, that is the mindset of the Ospreys.

They've conceded a penalty but feeling OK, they are comfortable

with their scrum. Crouch. We know Jeff Hassler is such a handful,

coming in from Matt blindside wing as well. Dan Baker, we have seen him

carry. They will sort the scrum out first. His frustration will show I'm

sure. Nigel Owens. He is mindful of the occasion. They have had good

rugby and they will not want to let the scrum bring it down. Inside, get

that out. Get that out. Who would want to be a referee in charge of

those six in particular? The referee camera takes you right into the

action. That is what he is seeing. Baker has to dig for it. It was

really untidy. A knock-on, a bit of relief for the Dragons.

Just watch Nicky Smith here, desperately trying to keep the scrum

up. Not allowing the drive and Fairbrother goes first. It is

difficult to pick up the penalty sometimes but a clear example bear.

Fairbrother went low and collapsed, the Dragons got a way with it.

Ospreys can concentrate fully on the drive. Again, Fairbrother finds

itself facedown on floor. You can sense the frustration. Lloyd

Fairbrother will be wise not to do that one again. Rhys Thomas, Owen

Evans, do Dan Way, Duncan Jones and Daniel Suter better start warming

up. I can't see the present six staying on.

Fairbrother has gone again. It has to be Dragons three. That is unfair.

He said the next two to go down are off and Nicky Smith has suffered

alongside Lloyd Fairbrother. You have to understand the difficulties

in. He has not seen the history of the set of scrums. It is usually the

case, I think when one loses his footing, Nicky Smith you can see has

done nothing there. His legs are out, he can't support the weight of

Fairbrother and he wants to go down. Very hard to hold on.

James King has to make way. In fact no, they have changed their minds.

Joe Bearman. Lads come you go down and you go. It is simple as that.

The same with the boys. Lewis Evan is also the blindside. An enforced

period in the sin-bin. Dragons Ali drive. -- early drive. To be fair he

is just trying to get the game going. Penalty against White nine.

It is going to go against Rhys Webb. If you can't keep discipline it is

your issue back you go. Saying it was the swinging arm of Rhys Webb on

the opposite number. He wants the ball quite a bit of a

forearm across the chest and that is a fair call. If that was a punch it

was a very poor one, certainly a straight arm across the chest.

Taulupe Faletau struggling to keep hold of it but manages to. Forward

before Nic Cudd could do the clearing work. It's amazing how much

a game can change over ten minutes. It is just classic derby stuff now.

The Ospreys again are looking to work off the base of that scrum. I

thought maybe they could have gone earlier. Bigger goes for the snap

drop goal but does not catch it clearly enough. I felt that scrum

worked out nicely for him. Still at the one penalty. A bit of

indecision now from Ospreys. It was perfectly judged by the kicker. You

would not want to get Anthony, Bose. Evans waits and it is time to

recover but for being pounded to the floor by Morgan. Eli Walker, he's

away there. A despairing flail from Lee Byrne is just enough to hold

them. Border into Duncan Jones. Dan Biggar back to Dan Baker. Tyler

Morgan with a tackle through the back door, to Eli Walker, keeps it

alive and it is Nic Cudd who picks it. The Dragons are there again. It

is such an important steel. Eli Walker had the initial break and it

is Walker again right to the death. The kit infield.

It is a fair hits from him. Aled Brew, former Osprey Dan Biggar and

the current Osprey. Dan Biggar was fair game there, brew letting had

one. If the flag was up there might have put differently. It is bubbling

isn't it. That is a fair tackle. It's just the

case of where the whistle has gone. He goes into giving moshav and then

gets a slap in the face. -- giving him a shelf. It was a better push by

four. I think you did take action against one you can't take action

against the other. The push by number four is right in the face

there. I would penalising yes. It is round the face. That is a fair

assessment. Dan Biggar was in the wrong and should have reacted and

kicked it all. There is nothing at all wrong with Aled Brew 's tackle.

Even Stevens in my eyes. Dan Biggar would have been wondering what day

it was because it would not have been a slap from Ian Gough. Here is

done bigger and his reaction. Not happy about it. The referee did not

have a problem about it. He might not hear the signals for a few

minutes but that's about it. Just the local bobby giving him a cuff

around the ear. LAUGHING

Dan Biggar can consider himself slightly fortunate to get the

penalty that puts the Ospreys back on level terms.

I forgot I had about who would see Walker so involved to show what he

can do. There is a bit happening out there

is in there. Would you expect? A great one by Taulupe Faletau.

Jonathan Evans goes out why to Jack Dixon. In open play, both sides are

looking very good. Through the back door God. -- through the back door

to Ian Gough. He cuts back in the Eventually just going for position

but not getting enough whip with it. Jones tries to get them going again

but it has been knocked forward. The game is balancing on very small

margins. When there is rugby and in no whistle games, both sides look

very positive with the ball in hand. Their testing defences. I'm sure in

the second half we will hopefully see more of that.

The two new props on the side of the scrum, at least for the next couple

of minutes. At least while the sin-bin is still in force.

Keep the space, if you do not want to play a game then go off. Space.

I thought he was going to help out on a loose end there.

Did go forward? Play on for the moment. That is a free beef of the

Dragons by the look of it. -- a freebie.

Ospreys did not go for it last weeks I think they may do here. There will

have to wait a minute because the man who needs to throw the ball is

evidently not fit to do so at the moment. One of the few clean breaks

you have seen, Eli Walker. And there goes the flying Lee Byrne he was the

last line of defence and he knew it. I'm not even sure you can call that

a tap tackle. For the second time of asking walk involved, that was quite

clever, I think you chose to go to ground to get lower and avoid being

hit by the covering defence. The top two in action in the Premiership

tomorrow, Chelsea versus Swansea. You can hear this on radio Wales.

You can also hear what is happening in the RDS as well.

That is at 345 4:04pm kick-off. On Sunday, Blues against Glasgow after

a fresh wind. Getting up close and personal with

Andy Powell on 6:40pm Sunday evening. Important defensive line

for the Dragons. Taulupe Faletau has threatened on a few occasions but

now they have not challenged in this time. Again, off the ball. This time

Alun Wyn Jones and Nic Cudd had a bit of a tangle. Lee Byrne.

Inching his way forward. That is a clear penalty. Yes, good turnover.

Hallam Amos saying it is going that way.

He has to work hard for this one, Nicky Smith begin getting in low. He

beat him to it. A brave solid tackle to win the turnover. I think it

could have been James King. That makes sense. Very impressive. It

makes more sense it was him. Just four minutes remaining of the

first half. They are still locked level, Bishop paste Dan Evans. Two

good attacking full-backs. Dan Evans a tricky runner.

Had to be dug out by Andrew Bishop in the end which was set up by Scott

Baldwin. They can't quite get enough of it though.

Webb, great work by Rhys Webb. And it is Eli Walker who benefits from

it. And the Dragons were caught napping on the line side but a

brilliant bit of work by Rhys Webb. A simple finish in the end for Eli

Walker. That was great work. They combine that well last week, Web and

walk are mostly of box kicks but this is a different proposition

altogether. A great score right on half-time. I was getting ready to

shout wrong option, takes a hit and draws burn but then Walker against

Lanman there is only one winner there. It does not look as though

anything is going on and it is a very inventive kick. Walker does

what's good winger Steve. -- wingers do. Last year he was pulled out with

a hamstring injury just before the island game, it is great to see him

back to full fitness. Alex Cuthbert go try bust week, the

Welsh wingers are finding their way to the try line early season. A

lovely strike and a superb conversion from Daniel Biggar. After

the game being locked for such a long time, as half-time approaches,

the Ospreys have a bit of daylight. Walker actually attached that rock

ruck. A good take by Alun Wyn Jones. Not put off by anything around him.

Taulupe Faletau looking again for the off-road if possible.

You can see Bishop coming up with the umbrella defence now. Tyler

Morgan. We will be catching up with the

Dragons Chief Executive cover Gareth Davies later on. If you have not

heard the news both he and Anthony Buchanan have been voted on as

directors of the Welsh Rugby Union. And the Chairman David Pickering has

lost his place. Drama off the field once again in Welsh rugby.

The last player of an absorbing first half, and there is the man

himself. First he'll be catching up, there's no escaping is there?

Crouch. Bind. Hold it there do not go in. I asked you to not go in

Dragons and you went in. Can they be bothered with one more attack? They

can't go to the touchline is I think they'll surrender for the half-time.

Dan Biggar looks and says no, that'll do for the first half.

That's really was an absorbing first half. Plenty going on and the

Ospreys with Eli Walker have the only try and lead by ten points.

There's go straight over to How much was that a blow? A bit we

spent a lot of time and we to get the ball in our hands and attack

together. Like I said we are defending a lot at the moment and we

are to defend. That was Lee Byrne the captain, here's Ross with story

of the half. It is tight and close and the scrum

has been something of a lottery. When the Dragons had it working

there had some big shots. That leading to the game 's opening

score. That put them 3-0 ahead. As you expect from any derby a bit of

handbags. Dan Biggar duly slotted in a penalty, 3-0 a score. At the

stroke of half-time and opportunistic from Rhys Webb and

electric place of Eli Walker led to a try. Possession is more or less

even Stevens although Dragons are edging a bit more ahead. This is

despite them spending the last ten minutes defending. Allergen 73

metres made by the Dragons to 203 for the Ospreys.

Even though the scoreboard is 10-3, do you feel that this game is on the

verge of kicking into life. So the opportunities but just failing to

convert apart from that try near the end? Both teams at the moment are

failing to spend prolonged periods of time in the opposition's

defensive areas. We try to go from touchline to touchline or finish on

a positive and the Ospreys managed to do that, coming away with points.

With the likes of Rhys Webb, Eli Walker, we have seen what prolonged

pressure can get you. Hopefully more gaps will start to appear in that

second art but we talked about the scrum briefly, it's often a blight

on any game of rugby and Nigel Evans has been getting increasingly

frustrated in the middle this evening. -- Nigel Owens. Have you

made any sense? I got some inside knowledge on it. Not much success at

the tenures of this. Think of where the Dragons scrum was last year,

they have made some improvements on the Kingsley Jones. What they are

trying to do is have long scrums. Chasing their feet, keeping it nice

and steady, trying to keep all the feet static and have along the scrum

and force the issue onto the Ospreys. It works to a lesser extent

here and Dan Baker confuses the issue. A static scrum from the

Dragons, they get a bit of purchase, Lewis Evans moves his bind from the

second row up into the side of Nicky Smith, the loosehead. Add it into

the front row, he finishes them further Dragons and they win the

penalty. There is a real improvement but Nigel Owens is airing on the

side of the Ospreys at the moment. He has given two yellow cards and I

think he will get even more frustrated in the second half but he

gets some parity. How did you rate job loss at Bristol's scrummaging? I

think it is pretty spot-on. I think the Dragons have worked out a of

managing the Ospreys scrum. We have got to talk about Dan Baker as well,

superb in a round base. It's a very good skill to have in a mobile

scrum. Another good touch from Dan Baker. We talked about Eli in the

first half. Some great chances, including before the try when he saw

the gap and went through it. When he picked up his head he picked up that

Nic Cudd was in front of him. He saw the gap and went through it. This

guy has blistering pace. A great off-load by Bishop. Coming inside,

is aiding the touchline but there he should have just controlled it, held

onto the ball. You can see Rhys Webb, a bit of a kick, this guy has

wheels to burn. Great for Wales really. This guy has a great turn of

pace and well finished. We watched that from the studio and you Ryan

through your arms up in frustration when Rees kicked that ball away.

Although it was opportunistic to did work. It was a typical what are you

doing? Factorial and oh yes, it is great. Now, look, when you have guys

around, magic things like that can happen. We talked about his ability

to scan what is around him. Eli must have been talking to him and he

spotted a gap. That's a wonderful bit of skill. He is wearing the

number 11 jersey, Eli Walker, we know who used to wear that. Is he as

quick as he is a elusive? Yes, Shane was a bit of a step, all things came

from zero -10 metres but this guy is very quick. He looks to run a very

smooth arc, very fluid across the ground which makes it very difficult

to attack especially when you have long levers. For guys like they,

when guys are moving at that pace they are very difficult to stop.

Certainly igniting the attack this evening and you have noticed some

subtle differences between the attacking styles of the two sides?

Interesting hearing him call him a bit of a step! They are in normal

play not very dangerous, the Ospreys. The Dragons are developing

a style of play. This frustrates me when you see a pass off the deck to

a forward, Alan Jarvis here. He has Alun Wyn Jones that he can tip a

pass on which is harder to defend but this is too easy. A low drop

tackle, in goes stank of it should together turnover. Likewise the

Lions captain. He is on the move, with the opportunity to take this

into space to Barnardo and again it is easy for Nic Cudd to get over the

ball. Contrast that with the Dragons, this is Jones at his best.

Moving the point of attack, shifting it to the defence, making it hard

for them to get over to the ball. Also learning a style to play

against the defence. Look how quick they are to realign. Guys on the

floor working hard to get into position. They get around the

corner, try to stretch the Ospreys forward. They are trying to get it

into play. What interests me is how they've pulled back in this channel

trying to exploit Dan Baker on his own next Aaron Jarvis. This is a

coached aspect of play that has brought a sense of intelligence to

the Dragons rugby this season and may help them make the top six.

Andy Powell, top bloke, interesting guy. Probably he will come on in the

second-half quite early I think. He has been told to come on and wreak

havoc so that should be something for these Dragons fans to get about.

You don't think there are enough characters left in the game at the

moment, it has become too sterile, is that a fair point? He is

certainly a character. He is a fantastic guy dad in a changing

room, he really brings guys together. When his head is in the

right place he is an exceptional player. He has been known to go

wandering a little bit throughout his career but a very funny guy, a

great guy to have around, he will meet the guys together and do

exceptionally well in the Newport Gwent Dragons. More Irish than the

Irish was how the Irish described him. How I wish would you describe

them? He is one of sports great characters. He is great in a team

environment. We have got a point where professional rugby is going

away from those characters. The environment is getting more sterile

as the demands on the players to become athletes gets more and more.

They come from a civil background, through various academies and

obviously with the intrusion of social media you cannot get away

with half as much as you used to. Absolutely. We will leave it there.

Let's get out of the touchline. Some news this evening if you haven't

heard the radio bulletins. David Pickering has lost his seat on the

WRU board and Gareth Davies who is currently the Chief Executive of the

Newport Gwent Dragons has been elected to the 18 man union board

and we can speak to him now. Thanks, Ross. Gareth, congratulations first

on getting on the board. What are you hoping to bring to the role? A

lot of clubs vastly over the left couple of weeks, I've had numerous

phone calls etc asking me where I stand on things like grassroots.

Being involved with the professional game, perhaps there there is is this

-- a suspicion or what have you that you are only interested in a part.

But I've come through tumble rugby club before being lucky enough to go

on and play at another level. So what I bring is somebody who has

gone through the ranks, experienced it all, understands the issues that

the small village clubs have faced in recent years and likewise other

professional end of the game as well, the difficulty to be faced

there. I don't know, I would like to think that the new board can bring a

sense of unity, a sense of cohesion, which I don't care what anybody else

says, I think has been lacking over the last couple of years. The first

thing you have to do is elect a new chairman in the place of David

Pickering. The big question for you, would you accept if you were

nominated and how would it interfere with your job here? Could you

married to? The first thing I would have to do is approve the new board

members. Irrespective of who is going to stand or who is nominated

for chairman, the important thing is to get a United board together to

help the executive move the game on and create a greater sense of

cohesion and unity which as I say I think has been lacking. If I had to

push you, would you accept? I have a full-time job here at the moment is

to be honest. It's not even crossed my mind at the moment. I'm looking

forward to things in the next month so let's take it one step at a time.

Good luck with that WRU role. Hopefully we will improve in the

second half, 40 minutes left to go. 40 minutes left to go. Ulster taking

on zebra. Ulster of course drawing against the Scarlet 's at a dramatic

comeback. It is currently 19-10 at half-time. Nick Williams was first

a small lead. Comfortable coming into the second half, we could

possibly see the arrival of Jones. I think Martin Roberts might come on

as well as the game progresses but then we have got to see the arrival

of Andy Powell who will come on, Andrew Coombs I am sure will be part

of the play. It is finely poised so who knows. Strong benches were both

sides, we will see what impact they have. Straight back to our

commentary team now for the second half, Stuart Davies and Gareth

Jarvis. The one change that the Dragons have

made is the guy who kicked off, Angus O'Brien, making his debut for

the Dragons. The youngster played for the Welsh under 20 team last

year. Or even earlier this year. And there is O'Brien. A beautifully

judged kick from the youngster as well.

Matavesi just struggling after taking a knock. That is possession.

Territory for the Ospreys. Let's hear what the boys in the studio

lot for the Dragons to do but they are all migrating to the ball so

when they are attacking they all seem to be by grating, they are not

keeping that space and the Ospreys are defending really well and

causing a lot of problems, an unforced errors. They need to

nullify them. The Ospreys are managing just two umbrella and keep

that Dragons attack. On the flip side, the Ospreys are managing to

maintain some wits. That is the way that the Ospreys work, they turn

quick possession and use it effectively. Trying to manufacture

another kick. This will be another line-out. I don't know if he

intended to do that, just keeping the pressure on.

The Dragons, forward in support of their scrum-half. Takes over in his

immediate pressure. The line speed defensively for the Ospreys is

tremendous. It is close. A very good clearance kick by Hallam Amos. Rhys

Ospreys. That is why they can put the pressure on the Dragons so much,

because it is there on a plate for Rhys Webb.

A good mix on the Ospreys at the moment. He spoke of multiple phases

in the dangerous areas, a good example there. Frustrated by the

fact of a knock-on at the end. Let's see if we can meet up with Phil

Steele. He is not there at the moment we will in the second.

Dan Baker about to be replaced, just leaving the field now. Morgan Allen

either side and this is the first Welsh derby. Taulupe Faletau and

There is time enough for the Dragons. They have been short of

position so far and have been stuck in their own half. A great take by

Dan Biggar. Morgan Allen trying to carry on with

Dan Baker. Amos does well to avoid the presence

of Jeff Hassler. The presence more than the tackle because no arms were

involved. The Dragons are going more and more

aerial. Not really threatening. It has come forward from Dan Evans.

The two replacement props setting it up, Bernard trying to get in on the

action every chance he can. A long advantage from the initial

knock-on advantage. Let's hear the thoughts from Ryan

Jones. Over the last 1015 minutes we have seen the Ospreys get a

stranglehold. In the attack they are trying to get to the wider challenge

and trying to get into the 15 yards from its stretching. They are

creating the gaps in the dragon defences. They are kicking well and

when they are exiting they are kicking down the challenges which

allows them to pin the Dragons back. On the flip side, the Dragons are

not really able to relieve the pressure and having repeated errors.

They need a bit more composure. This is to really wrestle the game back

from the Ospreys. There is a big? Over the young Ospreys pack coming

up. They are faring very well and I think there'll running game from

their forward pack is more effective than the latter part of this game.

Conversely, Andy Powell has come on, he can still do it. He has not

got into this game yet and Andrew Coombs has not as well. The Dragons

pack need those guys to get them into the game and on the front foot.

The last of the Ospreys five tries last weekend.

That is disappointing for the Dragons. They had to work hard to

get out of the defensive position and get downfield. They need to try

and get themselves within a scoring distance. A collapse scrum cost them

again. Dan Biggar will look freighted gain from the kick. The

Ospreys throwing more passion. We forget to forget Dan and will be 25

next month. He is very assured and very confident. He had an excellent

season last year. Bearman driven on by the Ospreys

pack. Morgan is in charge of the ball.

new scrum-half and Baldwin, not shy of carrying either. It is not

spectacular but it's important just to get Ospreys on the front foot.

Jones in the same vein. It is patient progress from the Ospreys.

Dan Biggar now. Roberts to Baldwin once again. Power with a tackle.

They are inching ever closer. They have lost about and it is a

turnover. A turn for the Dragons. In the end bishop is back to lend a

hand that forced them over the touchline. That was not a good pass.

Lee Byrne had to try and touch and go there. The defensive line was

just waiting for Aled Brew as much as he tried to it through. Just

watch the numbers here. I think Lee Byrne has to try and bus there

because Bishop is there and also Walker is waiting for him. Aled Brew

does well but he was not going anywhere. An injury update on Rhys

Webb. Almost a dead leg on a bicep. These players are so cautious and

when you have a direct blow in a bicep it's very painful. This would

hamper a scrum-half in the delivery of his ball but nothing too serious

Biggar, quite happy to played into the corners. To play tag tree and

playtime. -- territorial. It is the Dragons would welcome a score from

down there. I think a change in tactics, not a bad border.

Passed back by Rynard Landman who is taken on the captaincy from Lee

Byrne. That is going out on the phone and

the pass came from outside. Still, the Dragons cannot break free. It is

just tremendous pressure from the Ospreys. Such a well-controlled

game. This is a good clearance. It is passed into the 22 and he has to

find the pitch there. Just making sure he does not do anything wrong.

The Ospreys are looking for a drive on. Scott Baldwin at the tail.

Duncan Jones got the ball for the Ospreys. Powell was waiting for

Bishop. Alun Wyn Jones, yet another carry from the skipper. Roberts on

the spacing could not commit the man. I do think Dixon did enough on

the inside shoulder. Dragons try to pick up the pace. Approaching the

final ten minutes. Powell and Bishop are not giving an inch. A good strip

by Scott Baldwin. The jargons have recovered.

Again safety first from Dan Biggar. Only as far as Aled Brew. The crowd

wanting to run. He does so. Little change from the Osprey defence.

Was it a midair clash or did he take the man?

It is just the penalty but Tyler Morgan looks to be in a big bit of

trouble. It is about intent as much as what happened. As strange as that

may seem, the referee was saying, you challenge for the ball but he

still took the man. He has a gravity, goes for the ball

initially but then misses him. The Osprey takes the ball and then takes

the hands onto the Dragon player. He tips in. He has called it on the

pitch, I think you could not argue with the yellow card there. He goes

for the ball initially but then he misses the ball and then he plays

again. Busy plane wilfully or contact with the ball? He went for

the ball, missed it and many took the man. Are you suggesting this is

a yellow card? I certainly would jest. -- yes. That's how it should

work. That is the correct decision. This is a hugely contentious part of

the game of course but the reality is, these sorts of clashes are more

dangerous than a tackle. Even though you get in fair challenges, I think

you have wingers or chases being told to delay their rivals they can

leap higher harder and then you can have midair clashes that are going

to be similar to this throughout the season. I don't think it is long

before the IRB have to revisit this aspect of play. I thought the

decision was spot-on. The decision was, the working between was then

that is what it is therefore. It was snappy and clear, concise. Let's

heal what Sean has to say. -- here. I was going to talk about what the

Dragons have to do next and many to do, they need to get within one

score and apply pressure through territory which they have not been

gaining. They had the opportunity to do that and there will be space on

the field for things like O Brien's field kick. They have not had that

opportunity to build enough pressure but now they have. They need to

score next and build a school within the last ten minutes to get the

winning score. Tyler Morgan is back by this feat that is the initial

thing. They are going to go on post. They are going to try get back

within seven points, that is the aim anyway. Let's hear what daddy Jane

says. -- Davitt James. What the jargons

are not doing is using the big ball-carriers like Andrew Coombs and

Andy Powell to set interiors defenders. It is easy for the

Ospreys at the moment with the umbrella defence. If the Dragons

want to cause more problems than they have to be more streetwise and

a bit smarter. A good strike there from Angus O'Brien and it is a bird.

It gives the Dragons a losing bonus point and put them back in the frame

within the score. It will set up a lovely close of the game. More drama

left. What I will say, instinctively you're talking milli seconds and

both of the men win the air. It is just an example I suppose of a

player not being to see in the moment what he can and cannot do.

The correct decision though. So, 14 man Osprey versus the Dragons who

are back within a tribe, grandstand finish. -- a try.

A chance for Dragons to clear the line. They have a throw in and they

can build some territory from there. Richie Rees, Aled Brew was getting

chased but it is too long. Nic Cudd with a tackle. Martin Roberts away.

He won't get his hands on. Penalised for hanging on.

That penalty counts could well hurts the Ospreys as it is, all penalties

so far for the Dragons. I tell you what, talk about income and he is

taking hits left, right, and centre. This one is the biggest test are by

far. It is low and it is over. The Dragons are now back within a kick.

The Ospreys will be feeling a funeral is jangling with just over

five minutes to go. Of course everything was going so smoothly for

them and they were winning possession, gaining territory and

kicks in his arsenal. He really belted that went down there. And

they have now got the throw in as well.

They have a decent return and as you say, it is so important that they

have the throw as well. Andrew Coombs, that is what the Dragons

want to see him doing. Andy Powell offers itself as well and looks to

get within striking range for Angus O'Brien. No penalties right now for

Ospreys. He did not look to see where he was

throwing it there. Composure from Dan Biggar. It was not the time for

fancy. It wasn't the time at all. Just saying how well is going, he

hasn't looked. He senses him coming in but he puts the wing into traffic

and a lot of white jerseys. Yes get the big guys in through the phases

and creep up there. One penalty will do over the Dragons. Taulupe Faletau

wins the line. He excites the crowd there. Richie Rees, Alan Amos. A

really good pick-up of pace there from Alan Amos. A scrappy defence on

the Ospreys. Richie Rees from Angus O'Brien. Jack Nixon, Dixon cuts back

inside, inside the 22 now. Discipline is the key for Ospreys

here. The jargons carry and keep possession and pound away at the

Osprey defence. Owen Evans next in line, Combs and Powell in support. I

Brien is thinking about a drop goal, he is dropped into the pocket.

Forward once again. A brave corner from the outside-half and he is

ready to go for it. Here it comes from Angus O'Brien he has struck its

well but he has put it to the left of the post. Didn't he strike it

well. And pressure, the number of Ospreys closing in on him. Just look

at white jerseys. That is a real brave call from the 19-year-old

outside-half. Setting himself up and struck it well. He just pulled it. I

like it and I like the confidence and belief. He backed himself and

stood up. Nearly Edger Matic win and glory. -- nearly a dramatic win and

glory. Alan Jarvis slowly gets back to his

feet. It is a heck of a call who was the man of the match are you? There

have been definite performances. But, I'm going to give man of the

match to, Eli Walker. It is great to see him back on the pitch and in

open space flying. Of course, his trial was instrumental in getting

the Ospreys underway. He is into three figures as far as his running

yards are concerned. The final minute of the game and the

Dragons are still here. The kick will win the game for them, I Brien

they have to keep possession but they lost it. Surely, the Ospreys

can now run down 35 seconds on the clock. But I'm sure to be is very

slow set. Eli Walker may have ended up amongst the substitutes after his

card but his trial was vital for the Ospreys in their 2-point lead.

You are not holding it steady. Because the game is running on later

the game is now running an past 20 past 11. If you are looking for that

it is still being on and not scrapped. The scrum goes down. The

Ospreys just run the ball off the park and that is all they need to

do. Dan Biggar knows it for well and he banked it into the stand. The

Ospreys have hung on in there and they have worked mighty hard for it.

It is a second wind for the Ospreys and the second losing bonus point

for the Dragons. The first Welsh derby has drama a plenty. This is as

the Ospreys scrapped their way into a margin of victory of just two

points. The comeback from the Dragons is not enough. Plenty of

talking points. Plenty of big talk. The rugby that broke out was verily

absorbing. It was a derby that had everything you expect and they had

some good individual performances as well. I Brien nearly stalled it and

it was nearly glory time for him but he seemed to have a turn there. A

youngster that'll serve them well in years to come. Not the best in terms

of classic open rugby but absorbing throughout. The Ospreys had the game

to tries but for penalties for Angus O'Brien. It was fought back to the

Dragons right to the death and his drop goal could have settled it but

it went just wide and the Ospreys survived. They have come here today

and beaten the Dragons by a 17-15. It was an absorbing clash, it July

war the putting the Ospreys ahead. -- Eli Walker. It looked as though

the Ospreys were coasting to victory but a yellow card for Eli Walker was

declared and the jargons then had a chance to narrow the gap. Narrow it

they did and this kick took them further. The Dragons are two points

short of victory. They managed to maintain a majority just in terms of

possession. Ultimately a good win for oath early good Ospreys side. I

can't think they will leave here disappointed after being so

dominant. Whether it was tiredness or discipline or whether they were

creaking a bit, the Dragons are slowly coming back in the game. They

are going to be disappointed, gone are the days of the excuses. They

will be disappointed with that today. With the leadership of Alun

Wyn Jones it was key for them. He kept the composure. That is how you

win big derby matches like this. So too was Eli Walker and his with Phil

now. Kenny presented Eli Walker with the man of the match award there. So

good to see you back. How much confidence that give you. I have

been itching to play for nearly a year now and it is good to be back

on the pitch. A definite little bonus. What about the surface it was

just right for you? I review enjoyed the pitch. It was good for

People were fighting for the number nine role, it is good to see Rhys

Webb on fire for the time he was on the pitch. They did not learn their

lesson from last week and he was still dangerous. He is just biding

his time around the two defenders and that he now has a physicality

about him. John Evans the number nine is out of position. The

defender is the first defender in the line and he should go straight

up, he doesn't and he pushes out and Rhys Webb goes through. Whether

Knight should be covering in the marketers should he is not there.

That is also good for Wales. A disappointing looking dressing room
