happening on and off the pitch, this represents an opportunity for

the fans to say goodbye to some real legends. There are 12 players

that are leaving. It is a shame that they are the senior players.

When you have the likes of Jakey Roberts and Warburton and half

penny, it's a bit up in the air at the moment where Alex Cuthbert will

stay or go. As a coach and a team you want your best players playing

for Cardiff. A new director of rugby will be in place next season,

but so far the Blues have been jointly coached. Just a few moments

Blues legends today. How important is it to get a good performance in

do you think they will miss the most? I think it will be the old

heads of Martyn Williams and Gethin Jenkins. You do need for the old

heads around, you need the experience. Alex Cuthbert could be

a key lost if he does go. He certainly did his chances well with

a hat-trick today of negotiations with the Cardiff Blues, but we will

miss a lot of the boys. This is the core team leaving and they really

need to gel together now. The director needs to get the

confidence back,. We can cross back down to fill now with Justin

How pleased were you that it worked out well for the Cardiff Blues in

the end on the send-off day? It was a good performance, a bonus point

win. Very pleasing. There are still a lot of players outside leaving as

well but that is the structure we are working towards now. What about

summer signings and preparations next season, and your future?

we are currently still on contract, and all we can do is what we have

done this year - turn up on a Monday morning and give 150%

towards the Cardiff Blues and our jobs. Obviously you would want to

be involved? Of course. I have come right the way through the system,

as has Gareth. A home-grown talent. Well done to you, you have

certainly conducted yourself with great dignity throughout these

troubles. Thanks indeed to both. You have

spoken about a more organic feel next season and the home-grown

talent, but is there room to make a couple of big-name signings? That

would be nice if they were quality players but they will be very

expensive and it seems to me the Cardiff Blues do not have the

budget. Take the team like the Scarlets who have gone back to

their roots, gone back to the young players in their airier and

developed them. You recreate that connection with the public. They

are our players, this is our team, and that is what the Cardiff Blues

need to go. The need to go to the Pontypridd area and the Valleys, go

to that region and tried to build Cardiff's as a Regent in itself.

That project is struggling. I don't think it will happen overnight. It

will take three years for these players to come through the system.

That creates home-grown talent, it creates a real good team atmosphere.

Justin Burnell stating his case he does want be here next season,

still under contract. Director of rugby, plenty of names being thrown

in. Who do you think should be the man? I don't know, but I don't

think you could tie his hands and say these are your assistant

coaches. If someone is going to come, you have got to give them the

authority to make their own signings and have their own

backroom staff. You have to be given the freedom. If you trust him

and invest in him you have to do that, otherwise you will get

someone who'd just fills the gap. We will see what happens next
