This Friday, all eyes will be on the Millennium Stadium from when | :00:19. | :00:24.
unbeaten France come to town. Should Warren Gatland stick or twist? Keep | :00:25. | :00:29.
the faith, or ring the changes? The Pro12 is back. They are going for | :00:30. | :00:35.
the corner, could he sliding? Creating the gap, Jonathan Spratt | :00:36. | :00:42.
for the line. A confident try, and they will get the try as well. The | :00:43. | :00:46.
chief is not happy. There are leaders within the room, whether | :00:47. | :00:51.
they are natural leaders or not, I don't know. And we travel to | :00:52. | :00:55.
Clermont to meet the man they call the cheetah. | :00:56. | :01:04.
Good evening and welcome to Scrum V. Just five days to go now until the | :01:05. | :01:10.
game that could define Wales' season. There is plenty to talk | :01:11. | :01:14.
about. Jonathan Rob and Kingsley are here to answer tough questions. We | :01:15. | :01:18.
start with the Pro12 and the Blues versus Glasgow. | :01:19. | :01:27.
Glasgow arrived in Cardiff with remarkable away record of Blade six, | :01:28. | :01:34.
won six in Pro12 this season. But the Blues would have fancied their | :01:35. | :01:37.
chances having done the double over them in Europe and they let Sam | :01:38. | :01:42.
Warburton and Gethin Jenkins back in the starting line. | :01:43. | :01:51.
There is a penalty coming the Blues' way. This time they will go | :01:52. | :01:57.
for the posts. Quick hands could have worked spent. | :01:58. | :02:03.
Still on. He is trying to fend off defenders. | :02:04. | :02:36.
He picks up the pieces! Robbie Copeland, not the way the Blues had | :02:37. | :02:42.
meant it but they will take it all the same. The first try of the | :02:43. | :02:44.
evening goes to Robin Copeland. Lee Jones makes another tackle. He | :02:45. | :03:03.
gets over and after holding out initially, the Blues give away the | :03:04. | :03:05.
softest of tries. Straight through the gap, Robin | :03:06. | :03:15.
Copeland! He did all the hard work. What a | :03:16. | :03:27.
great break by Robin Copeland, messed up at the end of it but the | :03:28. | :03:30.
Blues are still hunting for the try. It was there on a plate. Did all the | :03:31. | :03:33.
hard work. He keeps it alive, can he control | :03:34. | :03:58.
it? He needs support. Cook lives. -- Cook lives. | :03:59. | :04:07.
He claims the try. The referee can't see. It will go to the TMO. What | :04:08. | :04:15.
happened here? How did the ball go loose? Is that forward, or back? | :04:16. | :04:22.
That is a borderline one. The try is going to be given. The ball did not | :04:23. | :04:26.
go forward. Glasgow cannot believe it. Robin Copeland, as the Blues | :04:27. | :04:33.
looked to get out of their own half, where they have spent most of this | :04:34. | :04:39.
second period. With a standing start, she was going to be in | :04:40. | :04:42.
trouble with that click. He needs to drop back further or use his left | :04:43. | :04:48.
foot. Offside, advantage being played with Glasgow still in | :04:49. | :04:53.
possession on the Blues' 22. Josh Strauss arrives, giving them more | :04:54. | :04:58.
impetus. It is a kick to nothing, the penalty is being played. The | :04:59. | :05:02.
advantage was not over and they will come back. Finn Russell steps up. | :05:03. | :05:07.
He's just brought down by Dan Fish. Not helped, back up again and the | :05:08. | :05:27.
alarm bells are ringing in the Blues' defence as Johnny Gray and | :05:28. | :05:32.
Josh Strauss joined forces to continue. Five metres short of the | :05:33. | :05:37.
Blues' try-line. Cusiter is calling for forwards to | :05:38. | :05:52.
come round. The referee has a close look, but no, it is held up and the | :05:53. | :05:57.
tie has not come and buy the skin of their teeth the Blues survive. A | :05:58. | :06:03.
great scrum. The referee is going to give a penalty anyway. Picked up by | :06:04. | :06:12.
Mark Bennett. Solid defence. Bennett twists and turns and makes it | :06:13. | :06:16.
available to Cusiter. James Eddie ploughs over. That new Glasgow front | :06:17. | :06:25.
row has made its mark. There is the ball against the heads. | :06:26. | :06:34.
Strauss almost makes it to the try-line and there is a penalty | :06:35. | :06:40.
coming. That will do for Glasgow. They will get the try as well! They | :06:41. | :06:44.
don't need to bother with the kick because Mark Bennett has got the try | :06:45. | :06:49.
that, surely, is the killer blow. It is frustration from our point of | :06:50. | :06:54.
view. We are still, we have young guys there and it doesn't deliver at | :06:55. | :07:02.
times. I am very frustrated. It doesn't make any sense. We can't | :07:03. | :07:07.
depend on the Welsh players to kind of steerage through games. | :07:08. | :07:13.
There are leaders within the room, whether they are natural leaders or | :07:14. | :07:18.
not, I don't know, but we need people to stand up and be counted | :07:19. | :07:22.
and tonight was not acceptable. We played well enough in the first half | :07:23. | :07:27.
and talked about what we were trying to achieve in the second half and we | :07:28. | :07:31.
did not carry it out. It is not acceptable as far as we are | :07:32. | :07:37.
concerned. Especially for the supporters and the jersey in | :07:38. | :07:40.
general. The result like that is about integrity and it becomes | :07:41. | :07:46.
personal. We can't keep doing this. Frustrated Phil Davies, an angry | :07:47. | :07:50.
Dale McIntosh there. Furious at the supposedly of leadership on the | :07:51. | :07:55.
pitch. Was his anger justified? I just think they are frustrated, it | :07:56. | :07:59.
is a game they should have won. They got into a position where they were | :08:00. | :08:02.
quite comfortable and they were falling off tackles, which allowed | :08:03. | :08:07.
Glasgow back in the game and then it is game management as well, putting | :08:08. | :08:10.
yourself in a position of May be kicking in the last couple of | :08:11. | :08:14.
minutes and throwing the game away. It is very frustrating. You come to | :08:15. | :08:19.
Glasgow, they come to Arms Park and they should have been beaten and I | :08:20. | :08:22.
think that is even more frustrating. It is a game that the | :08:23. | :08:29.
Blues should have won and it must be desperately frustrating for them. | :08:30. | :08:36.
The scrum in the last minute against the head, the penalty, is just | :08:37. | :08:42.
falling off target and I am sure it is something you can't coach, you | :08:43. | :08:45.
can't coach game management and those are the two things, the | :08:46. | :08:50.
leadership thing, yes, whereas getting Andrew Robertson, the Welsh | :08:51. | :08:54.
captains, but they are under instructions to come off at certain | :08:55. | :08:58.
times as well -- Gethin and Sam Warburton. It might have made a | :08:59. | :09:04.
difference had they stayed on to, do you think? I think it would have. | :09:05. | :09:09.
They were under orders to get them off after 45 minutes, but you are | :09:10. | :09:12.
talking about two guys who don't just lead at regional level but | :09:13. | :09:17.
international level and those guys in the team probably would have made | :09:18. | :09:20.
the difference. Nevertheless, it is not going to happen. There is going | :09:21. | :09:23.
to be times in the season where players will come back from | :09:24. | :09:27.
international duty and others have to perform. At the moment they are | :09:28. | :09:30.
not performing. It is a game they should have won. I have never seen | :09:31. | :09:35.
Phil and Dale McIntosh as frustrated anger angered as they were, to lose | :09:36. | :09:39.
a game that was there for the wedding. sometimes the lack of | :09:40. | :09:46.
resources, I do think a lot of players playing out of their comfort | :09:47. | :09:51.
zone and I don't think they already for that level yet and that is | :09:52. | :09:55.
always a concern, you get injuries and internationals and players | :09:56. | :09:58.
stepping up into the region of the game, who are not ready for that | :09:59. | :10:02.
step up yet, so it makes it tough for them because you can't blame | :10:03. | :10:04.
those players because maybe they should not be there because they are | :10:05. | :10:09.
not good enough. The foreign players for Glasgow made a big difference in | :10:10. | :10:12.
the game, that is the difference. Strauss that ate was fantastic, the | :10:13. | :10:16.
Fijian lads were excellent and they make good changes at halfback with | :10:17. | :10:20.
quality coming on and the difference in the end, the defeat was down to | :10:21. | :10:24.
the fact that Glasgow brought on some good players and the Blues had | :10:25. | :10:29.
to take a couple of good ones fund it swam towards Glasgow. | :10:30. | :10:33.
We mentioned Gethin Jenkins and Sam Warburton playing for the Blues and | :10:34. | :10:37.
there were some Welsh squad players returning in the Ospreys, six in | :10:38. | :10:42.
total, playing for international duty. They took on Treviso a little | :10:43. | :10:44.
earlier today. Treviso turned up at the Liberty for | :10:45. | :10:53.
what might be one of their last ever visits to Wales. If they go through | :10:54. | :10:59.
with plans to quit the Pro12. The Wales hopefuls Dan Biggar and Rhys | :11:00. | :11:01.
Webb were both starting for the home side. | :11:02. | :11:14.
Rhys Webb creating the gap, Jonathan Spratt for the line and he | :11:15. | :11:20.
stretches. They have numbers in defence rather | :11:21. | :11:44.
than on his side. Well defended by Treviso. Rhys Webb, clean through | :11:45. | :11:54.
and Treviso's defence cracks again. And they free up sprat mango? -- | :11:55. | :11:58.
Spratt? Chances on for the Ospreys. A | :11:59. | :12:14.
beautiful pass. Can their forwards manufacture their | :12:15. | :12:30.
first school of the game? -- first score of the game. Try as given. | :12:31. | :12:33.
Away from Morgan. It is Carnival time for the Ospreys. | :12:34. | :12:53.
Matthew Morgan leads the way. He has Sam Davis inside him. Can Sam Davis | :12:54. | :12:58.
go all the way? A brilliant try for the Ospreys. Morgan and Davis | :12:59. | :13:00.
combining. Baker did not need any help. Dan | :13:01. | :13:12.
Baker, charging over for the Ospreys. | :13:13. | :13:27.
This is almost too easy now for the Ospreys. A great ball. A beautiful | :13:28. | :13:37.
pass by Spratt. Dirksen charges in for his first touch. | :13:38. | :13:43.
Treviso back up to 15 men. It is good carrying by Dirksen. Matthew | :13:44. | :13:52.
Morgan creates the gap from nowhere, the off-loading side. Ryan Jones | :13:53. | :14:01.
with the dive. Is there one more to come, maybe, or are we being too | :14:02. | :14:03.
greedy? Sam Davis in, he plunges in for his | :14:04. | :14:15.
second try. Treviso were in a difficult spot at the moment, | :14:16. | :14:19.
perhaps the wrong time for them to play us on a Sunday afternoon, a | :14:20. | :14:22.
weakened team and when you consider the political situation, the | :14:23. | :14:26.
coaching turnover there, that is uncomfortable for us in some ways | :14:27. | :14:48.
that it is a fine win. There were some great skills there, some lovely | :14:49. | :14:53.
tries. But it was a hollow victory. You can only beat who is in front of | :14:54. | :14:57.
you. I thought there were a lot of skills on show. It was a good run | :14:58. | :15:02.
out for the Ospreys boys. Six Welsh players back with the Ospreys this | :15:03. | :15:05.
weekend. It was difficult to judge because it was such a one-sided | :15:06. | :15:09.
game, but did anyone there put up their selection -- hand up for | :15:10. | :15:16.
selection on Friday? Rhys Webb looked particularly sharp. He's very | :15:17. | :15:21.
good around the fringes. He's a quality rugby player when the is | :15:22. | :15:27.
open. He showed a little bit more than just his running game, his | :15:28. | :15:31.
kicking game was good. He was on for 45 minutes and then he came off. | :15:32. | :15:36.
Darting and finding space is what he's good at. He had a good game. | :15:37. | :15:42.
But you have to take into account what was in front of him. They were | :15:43. | :15:48.
a poor side, 14 internationals missing, they were borrowing players | :15:49. | :15:51.
from local clubs in the Treviso area. You know what I'm going to ask | :15:52. | :16:02.
you next? Libor I'm going to say no. I think they will stick with | :16:03. | :16:09.
Mike Phillips. Halfback wise, they will stick with Mike Phillips, a | :16:10. | :16:13.
big-game player. I don't think Rhys Webb, in terms of his man management | :16:14. | :16:17.
of games, and today was an opportunity for him to show that, is | :16:18. | :16:22.
ready for it just yet. What do you read into the selection of Rhys Webb | :16:23. | :16:29.
and Biggar? Is Gatlin is looking at them as a partnership or is his mind | :16:30. | :16:35.
already made up? Absolutely not looking at them for Friday night. If | :16:36. | :16:39.
there's an opportunity for them to be involved, of course. But you | :16:40. | :16:42.
wouldn't want to be picking your players with a five-day turnaround. | :16:43. | :16:46.
He will go with the same pairing, I'm sure. On Mike Phillips, a lot of | :16:47. | :16:51.
pundits suggesting he might be dropped this week. We don't know | :16:52. | :16:54.
what is in the head of Warren Gatland, but let's talk about the | :16:55. | :16:58.
psychology of that. If papers and pundits are calling for the axe to | :16:59. | :17:10.
swing in your direction, when you are a player like Mike Phillips, who | :17:11. | :17:13.
I guess has a streak of arrogance, do you let your insecurities take | :17:14. | :17:15.
over or are you doubly determined to prove your critics wrong? I don't | :17:16. | :17:18.
think Mike has got many insecurities. Not knowing him that | :17:19. | :17:20.
well, but knowing him in the way he has performed, that would really | :17:21. | :17:25.
pick his game up. He's had an uncertain season, changing clubs and | :17:26. | :17:30.
everything. When you ask questions about the halfbacks, yes, it was a | :17:31. | :17:36.
scrappy game against Italy, but against Ireland, the front five had | :17:37. | :17:39.
a bad day at the office. That reflects on the performances of the | :17:40. | :17:44.
halfbacks. It would be unfair to drop the halfbacks on the back of a | :17:45. | :17:48.
brewer packed performance. It will be interesting to see if they do | :17:49. | :17:53.
want to change a little bit and sharpen it up, maybe Rhys Webb | :17:54. | :17:56.
offers a bit more pace than Mike does. Again, with Dan, playing as a | :17:57. | :18:04.
partnership, he maybe brings a little bit more control and | :18:05. | :18:08.
confidence than Rhys Priestland. Then again, if the front five really | :18:09. | :18:14.
pick their game up and go well, Mike on the front foot and Rhys on the | :18:15. | :18:17.
front foot, maybe that would be a better option. The five-day | :18:18. | :18:24.
turnaround, I think they are professional rugby players, Treviso | :18:25. | :18:28.
wasn't a massive hit... And they came off after 45 minutes. If you've | :18:29. | :18:34.
got those players in camp for five weeks and they don't play a game and | :18:35. | :18:38.
all of a sudden they have to go on... For them to have some game | :18:39. | :18:42.
time today as opposed to sitting on the bench. Some haven't played since | :18:43. | :18:51.
Australia. I think you've got to play. I prefer to play before I | :18:52. | :18:56.
played for my country, but things have changed. We don't want to get | :18:57. | :19:00.
ahead of ourselves. Let's remind us of Wales' campaign so far. | :19:01. | :19:07.
It's Wales versus Italy. A lovely kick. Nicely placed. Missed! It's a | :19:08. | :19:21.
gift! Wide. George North building up a head of steam for himself to chase | :19:22. | :19:33.
this. The pass is loose. Good play. Roberts is through this time, he's | :19:34. | :19:37.
got support outside. Williams will score for Wales. It's going to be a | :19:38. | :19:49.
trifle Campagnaro. -- try for company no. Interception. It's going | :19:50. | :19:53.
to be a run for the line. It is going to give Italy hope. They won't | :19:54. | :20:04.
be happy with their performance. Far too many mistakes. | :20:05. | :20:11.
Ireland versus Wales. They call it the grudge match. It's like the war | :20:12. | :20:23.
zone at the moment. Four penalties conceded by Wales. It has been poor. | :20:24. | :20:36.
It has gone wrong. Toner didn't even have to jump. A horrible line-out. | :20:37. | :20:45.
Sexton. That was such a good ball. Putting that into space on a | :20:46. | :20:51.
sixpence. Down to Chris Henry. Here comes the try. They are over the | :20:52. | :20:59.
line, they claim the try. Ireland, what a try, what a finish this would | :21:00. | :21:07.
be. Marie looks up a twist infield... It must be, it is! He | :21:08. | :21:13.
scores. The game is done. Ireland's date. You Low tactically, Ireland | :21:14. | :21:18.
got it right and Wales made too many mistakes and didn't really have a | :21:19. | :21:26.
plan E to go to. That was probably one of the worst performances we've | :21:27. | :21:28.
had since I've been involved. Let's talk tactics now. Wales | :21:29. | :21:39.
stuttered so far. Generally felt that Joe Schmidt outfoxed Warren | :21:40. | :21:43.
Gatland in Dublin. Wales are being lambasted for not having another | :21:44. | :21:47.
plan. What has been your perspective on this? There's a lot been said | :21:48. | :21:51.
about the kicking game. I thought that Wales' kicking game wasn't as | :21:52. | :21:58.
accurate as the Irish. Priestland is under pressure. It's a good kick but | :21:59. | :22:04.
Ireland already for it. A great take. Ireland get the ball back, | :22:05. | :22:09.
penalty from that return. Here we see another one. The kick is a bit | :22:10. | :22:13.
shallow this time from Halfpenny. Knock on, scrum down to Ireland. | :22:14. | :22:19.
This time it is Priestland putting a little kick behind, covered by Conor | :22:20. | :22:23.
Marie. George North goes off his feet, penalty to Ireland. Here we | :22:24. | :22:31.
see pressure. Ireland relieving, exit. Ball back to Ireland. The kick | :22:32. | :22:36.
on the money, big challenge, Halfpenny does really well. | :22:37. | :22:46.
Priestland, he works back to cover but his options are limited. He | :22:47. | :22:51.
takes the ball into touch. From that line-up, Ireland got the try. It was | :22:52. | :22:55.
a theme throughout the game. Halfpenny on his own, perfect kick | :22:56. | :22:59.
from Ireland, getting the ball back. Wales kicked the ball on field | :23:00. | :23:04.
five times. Four of them, Ireland got the ball back. You've got to | :23:05. | :23:12.
work as a team. You don't have to block someone but you can be a lazy | :23:13. | :23:16.
runner and stand in the way, so make people go on the outside of you. The | :23:17. | :23:22.
pressure game was far better by Ireland. Usually Wales' kicking game | :23:23. | :23:28.
has been good. You know Philippe Saint-Andre well. France are the | :23:29. | :23:35.
next opponents. What can we expect? He's had a lot of success in the | :23:36. | :23:39.
Premier ship with a big kicking game. I know he will bring that | :23:40. | :23:44.
here. The way Wales defend, they leave their full-back with a lot to | :23:45. | :23:47.
do. You can see Leigh Halfpenny is having to deal with high kicks. Look | :23:48. | :23:53.
at this field here. This has come from a scrum for Ireland. Leigh | :23:54. | :23:57.
Halfpenny, centre of the field. I'd much prefer that blindside wing to | :23:58. | :24:01.
be infield, giving Halfpenny the licence to come across. Mike | :24:02. | :24:14.
Phillips, his sweep and cover any dink over the top. Halfpenny is | :24:15. | :24:17.
covering that and all of that space. Because his starting position was 50 | :24:18. | :24:20.
metres to the centre of the post, he didn't deal with that. Here, Wales | :24:21. | :24:22.
are positive. Particularly against France there will be these | :24:23. | :24:26.
opportunities. But Wales, missed pass. Ireland, two defenders and | :24:27. | :24:31.
withdrew them a missed pass. Easy for the Irish defence to drift out. | :24:32. | :24:35.
Halfpenny has an opportunity, just three Irish defenders. He should be | :24:36. | :24:39.
taking it to the line and creating a space out wide. Priestland, what he | :24:40. | :24:44.
is really renowned for, he doesn't do it either. The Irish defence were | :24:45. | :24:48.
able to deal with it. If Wales improve on that and attack the | :24:49. | :24:57.
defensive line, against France, the way they will kick, short and | :24:58. | :24:59.
contestable, be positive and those opportunities will come for Wales | :25:00. | :25:02.
against France. The French stand-off, I don't think he is up | :25:03. | :25:07.
there at that level yet. Sexton had a great game. It's easy, if you see | :25:08. | :25:11.
the space before you get the ball, you know what you are going to do. | :25:12. | :25:16.
Full-back can't cover that amount of ground. The back three should be on | :25:17. | :25:22.
a piece of string. The full-back is there and he's there. If he comes | :25:23. | :25:26.
back, he moves across and the other wing goes up. There is a full-back, | :25:27. | :25:30.
a full-back, a full-back. You've got to communicate. Everybody's job is | :25:31. | :25:36.
easier. It's tougher for the stand-off to find a space to kick. | :25:37. | :25:40.
Then the kicking game isn't such a huge factor in the game. Maybe | :25:41. | :25:44.
Ireland then have got to carry the ball more and Wales have an | :25:45. | :25:47.
opportunity to turn the ball over. They've got to think about it as a | :25:48. | :25:55.
team effort on the back three. It's a lot of work for the full-back. | :25:56. | :25:59.
What I'd like to see happen against France, Toby Faletau is probably the | :26:00. | :26:04.
best full-back, he needs to be used. I'd like to see him dropping back. | :26:05. | :26:09.
It was clear that Ireland had a big kicking strategy. We are talking | :26:10. | :26:13.
about changing game plans on the field. That is something you can do. | :26:14. | :26:18.
Let's drop the wing is deeper and the full-back back. If Wales are | :26:19. | :26:21.
bold enough to do that, they want a lot of people in the defensive | :26:22. | :26:25.
line, they are happy to have Mike Phillips in that line and force | :26:26. | :26:28.
people to kick, but there are opportunities to drop back. Mike | :26:29. | :26:34.
Phillips is used in the defensive line because he is big and abrasive. | :26:35. | :26:38.
But there's always that gap. With Leigh Halfpenny, he's not just | :26:39. | :26:42.
covering the width of the field, he is also covering over the top. His | :26:43. | :26:46.
first movement was forward and then he's got to go back. It's a huge | :26:47. | :26:51.
area to cover. Saint-Andre, or any good coach, would look at Wales and | :26:52. | :26:55.
analyse the way they perform and where their spaces. They've got | :26:56. | :26:59.
enough football in their side to be able to make that counter and | :27:00. | :27:04.
exploit those areas. Talking about the centres now. The big question is | :27:05. | :27:10.
whether Jonathan Davies is fit. We heard Joe Schmidt criticise Wales | :27:11. | :27:13.
last week for picking players who aren't perhaps at full fitness. Can | :27:14. | :27:17.
you see him being thrown straight back in? Because the injury with | :27:18. | :27:25.
Scott Williams, we've got Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts and Scott | :27:26. | :27:30.
Williams as our first choice centres. One is away, he's been left | :27:31. | :27:35.
in camp. If he is fit, I think he will be picked. It's different | :27:36. | :27:40.
upfront. Warburton, very abrasive with a breakdown, the front five who | :27:41. | :27:44.
haven't played for a while. They need their match practice. I think | :27:45. | :27:47.
Jonathan Davies will come straight in if he's fit. If he's not, I think | :27:48. | :27:51.
he will go for George North. I think he will use the power game in | :27:52. | :27:56.
midfield. Don't think faster road is going to be available. -- faster | :27:57. | :28:03.
road. He will stick to his game plan. Use power up the middle. It's | :28:04. | :28:10.
not as abrasive a position, but surely if you are off the pace if | :28:11. | :28:16.
you've not played... I think it's very difficult. Times have changed. | :28:17. | :28:21.
You are in camp a lot longer, so maybe they can assess their fitness | :28:22. | :28:29.
better. Again, if he's not fit, I think he will put George North in. | :28:30. | :28:33.
But then you are playing Liam Williams on the wing, who hasn't | :28:34. | :28:38.
played on the wing for his region. It's a risk worth taking there. | :28:39. | :28:42.
Talking about other players who have come straight back in, there are | :28:43. | :28:46.
other options. Tipuric, James, they are options. I would certainly go | :28:47. | :28:53.
with Jon Davies if he is fit. If he can play 40, great, 50, great, just | :28:54. | :29:00.
monitor the situation. I don't think we've got many options anyway. We | :29:01. | :29:05.
find out on Wednesday, that is when it is announced. Let's go back to | :29:06. | :29:09.
the protocol is now and Friday night's game in Dublin. -- Proto. | :29:10. | :29:16.
History was weighing heavily on the Dragons as they travelled to face | :29:17. | :29:21.
the team they'd never beaten away from home. Leinster were missing | :29:22. | :29:26.
eight of their Irish test stars but were still able to field a side | :29:27. | :29:29.
containing 11 internationals. Leinster putting together these | :29:30. | :29:43.
short passes, despite the conditions. The penalty count is | :29:44. | :29:46.
already stacking up against the Dragons. | :29:47. | :29:56.
He might fancy the drop goal. 30 metres out... Has he found the | :29:57. | :30:13.
target? He has. The Dragons are back on terms. It could be a drop goal to | :30:14. | :30:20.
nothing. They will come back anyway for the | :30:21. | :30:26.
penalty. He has been penalised three times in | :30:27. | :30:42.
the scrum and gets done in the loose. | :30:43. | :30:59.
McGrath fancies the charge himself and it was Route one that paid off | :31:00. | :31:02.
for Leinster in the end. Harris is putting pressure on | :31:03. | :31:14.
McFadden. Leinster getting three or four blue | :31:15. | :31:29.
shirts back. A good chain -- charge from Will Harris, but he could have | :31:30. | :31:33.
done with a couple of mates alongside him to force the penalty. | :31:34. | :31:39.
The Dragons have the turnover. Can he sliding? The trifle Ashley Smith | :31:40. | :31:48.
in the corner. -- the try, for Ashley Smith in the corner. | :31:49. | :32:00.
The Dragons have nicked another one. Is there something on? | :32:01. | :32:08.
Richie Rees, where has that one come from? Leinster caught absolutely | :32:09. | :32:15.
cold. The Dragons with two tries in two minutes. | :32:16. | :32:31.
He might fancy a pop at goal from here. | :32:32. | :32:41.
Straight and true and the Dragons' leaders extended to 16-10. -- their | :32:42. | :32:54.
lead is extended. Another penalty coming Leinster's way. I yellow | :32:55. | :32:57.
card, I think. This is a really testing time for | :32:58. | :33:17.
the Dragons pack as they crumble. A penalty try and a chance for | :33:18. | :33:18.
Leinster to retake the lead. Will it be a second penalty try? | :33:19. | :33:32.
Yes, it will. Offside, a penalty in front of the | :33:33. | :33:49.
posts. A bonus point range, with 11 minutes | :33:50. | :34:02.
left. The Dragons have possession, as the | :34:03. | :34:16.
Leinster line-out goes wrong. The referee's whistle has gone. | :34:17. | :34:22.
The RDS crowd baying for a card. It is dangerous play, a red card. | :34:23. | :34:44.
Where is this going to end? It is going to end in a try for the | :34:45. | :34:50.
Leinster replacement. Heartache for the Dragons. | :34:51. | :34:58.
As things stand, the Ospreys are the only Welsh region in the top four. | :34:59. | :35:04.
Glasgow in force. If there is a European Cup next year with | :35:05. | :35:07.
meritocratic qualification, as things stand the Blues and the | :35:08. | :35:11.
Dragons would miss out. You watched that back, shaking your head in | :35:12. | :35:15.
disbelief at times. It must have been anger in the dressing room, I | :35:16. | :35:19.
imagine? A lot of people putting a lot of effort and a couple of make | :35:20. | :35:24.
silly errors and it cost us but people have come to me and said, | :35:25. | :35:28.
hard lines, do you know what? I am fed up of been hard lines, Dragons, | :35:29. | :35:31.
it is time to start winning games. We need to recruit a bit, strengthen | :35:32. | :35:37.
the squad but a lot of people good attitude right until the death but | :35:38. | :35:41.
we did not get the win. There has been a lot written about the | :35:42. | :35:43.
Dragons' ambition this season so far. We know some are on their way | :35:44. | :35:51.
back next season, a lot of speculation about Gavin Henson and | :35:52. | :35:55.
Matthew Morgan joining them. That is potentially a formidable looking | :35:56. | :35:59.
backline? yes, it is, and they have recruited upfront. You have | :36:00. | :36:03.
Stankovich coming from Leicester, who is a formidable front row | :36:04. | :36:11.
forward, with experience and quality and Matthew Morgan, if he is playing | :36:12. | :36:15.
regular rugby somewhere I think he would be pushing for international | :36:16. | :36:18.
honours. He is a fantastic player. Is he big enough, I think people | :36:19. | :36:23.
have not given him an opportunity. He has played odd game. He's | :36:24. | :36:31.
fantastic, you have to take into account the opposition but he needs | :36:32. | :36:34.
regular rugby. If he plays four or five games there will be an | :36:35. | :36:40.
improvement. That is key, for Gavin Henson or Matthew, as long as they | :36:41. | :36:44.
play it is what is best for them and those two need to play games. The | :36:45. | :36:49.
only man who can tell us if they are coming or not... I have got his | :36:50. | :36:56.
mobile number. No, the truth is we have a lot of players in contract | :36:57. | :37:02.
for two years, tied in, so it is nice to talk to these players and I | :37:03. | :37:06.
am sure if they are Welsh qualified players of that quality and the | :37:07. | :37:09.
Dragons are showing ambition, we will go for those players but we | :37:10. | :37:13.
have a lot of players in contract and it is not as simple as, we will | :37:14. | :37:17.
take him. Things have to move before you can do those things. | :37:18. | :37:21.
Tight-lipped, thank you. Agger rogue peace deal seems to be edging closer | :37:22. | :37:26.
with agreements on qualification and governance report suggesting they | :37:27. | :37:29.
may be governed from Switzerland -- a currency peace deal. Broadcasters | :37:30. | :37:36.
will be meeting next week to discuss. It is beginning to look | :37:37. | :37:44.
like the Anglo-Welsh is out of the window. Good news, or bad news? It | :37:45. | :37:50.
has always been about broadband and Sky and BT, we all knew from the | :37:51. | :37:54.
strikes from the start. They will strike a deal and we will have a | :37:55. | :37:58.
competition. If it is a European competition, great, that is the best | :37:59. | :38:03.
thing for the Welsh regions. Anglo-Welsh looks fantastic, but I | :38:04. | :38:06.
never thought that was going to happen. But for me I think it is all | :38:07. | :38:11.
about the Pro12. The Pro12 has got to be far more competitive. There | :38:12. | :38:15.
are quality sides in that league and yet the Irish and the Scottish, the | :38:16. | :38:21.
strength and depth they have, they can chop and change and rest players | :38:22. | :38:25.
because they will end up in the top six. I think qualification, make it | :38:26. | :38:29.
competitive and hopefully the players will stay. Back to the | :38:30. | :38:34.
action. It was the last 16 of the SWALEC Cup today, two games | :38:35. | :38:37.
unfortunately fell victim to the weather but six did go ahead and our | :38:38. | :38:42.
cameras were at the Arms Park for Cardiff versus Newbridge. | :38:43. | :39:03.
More forward driving. He is over, he gets the try. | :39:04. | :39:13.
Newbridge having a go with what little possession they are getting. | :39:14. | :39:23.
Pat James, almost up to the 22. Mazy run for Pat James. A quick ball for | :39:24. | :39:29.
Newbridge would be handy. He is looking for Johnny Morris on | :39:30. | :39:38.
the right-hand side, but good cover by Cardiff. | :39:39. | :39:48.
Jonathan Edwards, the captain, exhorting his troops. They have the | :39:49. | :39:58.
momentum. It is a second for some. The bobbin over the last couple of | :39:59. | :40:02.
weeks we have been disappointed and Newbridge pride themselves on the | :40:03. | :40:05.
pack, so we knew we had to put-in a performance and it is pleasing to | :40:06. | :40:09.
come away with a victory. STUDIO: | :40:10. | :40:11.
Cross Keys wondered when derby handsomely. Carmarthen Quins... | :40:12. | :40:30.
Back to the six Nations and our next opponents, France, and history tells | :40:31. | :40:36.
us they cash in have to rely on store. They are two from two so far | :40:37. | :40:40.
and have a significant weapon in their backline. | :40:41. | :40:47.
What a start to the six Nations! They finish! | :40:48. | :40:57.
Happy days are here again with a young man known as the cheetah | :40:58. | :41:07.
putting a smile on French faces. Two tries in two minutes. France, | :41:08. | :41:08.
devastating. Fofana is the latest talent to | :41:09. | :41:29.
emerge that includes French coach Saint-Andre. His development has not | :41:30. | :41:30.
been completely conventional. They have had a joke, they put some | :41:31. | :42:01.
pictures up of men when he was a different shape and has worked hard | :42:02. | :42:06.
with his condition and diet, you can see how he has improved and you can | :42:07. | :42:10.
see that hard work does pay off. He will be a superstar, he already is | :42:11. | :42:14.
but there is no limits to what he can do. We talked about Fofana's | :42:15. | :42:24.
star quality, here it is. Our first-team fixture with 23 caps, he | :42:25. | :42:30.
made his debut in 2012, scoring four tries in his first four tests. | :42:31. | :42:36.
Fofana, his first day of International Rugby Board he scores. | :42:37. | :42:38.
What a second-half the centre has had. | :42:39. | :42:53.
Fofana. Fofana comes away with it, three caps, three tries. | :42:54. | :43:07.
Last year's Six Nations may have been a step too far for Saint-Andre | :43:08. | :43:16.
but despite the Wooden Spoon, selecting Fofana at centre did give | :43:17. | :43:23.
him something to smile about. Fofana, beautiful sliding scale. | :43:24. | :43:33.
Fofana! Broke a beautiful try. -- Fofana, a beautiful try. | :43:34. | :43:47.
With Rougerie, it gives him confidence. He has been awesome to | :43:48. | :43:56.
see. He likes to learn a lot. You can see in training, after training | :43:57. | :44:01.
he will do extra and he likes that partnership and he will miss it next | :44:02. | :44:07.
year. The pot of gold at the end of Clermont's rainbow, next year sees | :44:08. | :44:12.
Donovan raged -- Jonathan Davies joining Fofana. But first, the Fox | :44:13. | :44:18.
and the cheetah may read up Cardiff. -- may beat up in Cardiff. | :44:19. | :44:38.
It is a battle of the big boys in midfield. Robert and Bastareaud | :44:39. | :44:46.
included, where it could all be won and lost in a rear clash of the | :44:47. | :44:48.
Titans. It will be a cracking game. France | :44:49. | :45:11.
have confidence with two wins, but Wales will be bouncing for that one | :45:12. | :45:16.
in Cardiff on Friday night. I think Wales can win the game. | :45:17. | :45:39.
Intriguing to find out he was a once a chubby upstart who didn't pick up | :45:40. | :45:45.
a rugby ball until he was a teenager. He's done all right since, | :45:46. | :45:48.
hasn't he? Class player. With France, I don't really see what they | :45:49. | :45:57.
are trying to do. With Italy, I can... I can't see where they are | :45:58. | :46:01.
really going to worry Wales. But if it gets loose, he is the danger | :46:02. | :46:08.
man. No loose play whatsoever. I think it will be fascinating in the | :46:09. | :46:14.
midfield. I think Wales will win. He didn't play this weekend. There was | :46:15. | :46:18.
an agreement before the Six Nations between the French Federation and | :46:19. | :46:23.
the clubs that Saint-Andre could select 12 players to rest in the | :46:24. | :46:26.
rest weekends between games. That hasn't happened this weekend. I | :46:27. | :46:34.
spoke to him last week and he was a happy man. He's not so happy today. | :46:35. | :46:41.
Bastareaud is definitely out? Wii 90% that he has gone. He has Fritz | :46:42. | :46:46.
injured, De Vida insured. It looks like it could be fickle playing now. | :46:47. | :46:54.
It gives them a different dimension. With loose, broken play, it's | :46:55. | :47:06.
incredible. That's an issue for Wales, possibly. This Welsh group at | :47:07. | :47:12.
the moment, they are not used to losing. They've had a really nice | :47:13. | :47:16.
period of international rugby. They've been really successful since | :47:17. | :47:21.
2010. It's interesting to see how this group will respond to a bit of | :47:22. | :47:26.
criticism. I think they will respond positively. They like winning and | :47:27. | :47:40.
they will go out and win. Wales or France next Friday? I'm going for | :47:41. | :47:48.
Wales. Good man. Thanks for watching at home. That's it from us on Scrum | :47:49. | :47:52.
V. If Wales have any hope of defending their Six Nations crown on | :47:53. | :47:58.
Friday, it really is win or bust. We will see you in a few days time. | :47:59. | :48:01. |
