Happy New Year, welcome to Bormio in Italy where the best downhill races

:00:54.:00:58.

in the world are preparing to tackle the punishing Pista Stelvio. It has

:00:59.:01:13.

been a strange season won the World Cup circuit, the stars are showing

:01:14.:01:17.

glimpses of brilliance but there has been a lot of uncertainty. Goodness

:01:18.:01:31.

me! She is in trouble there, we will call it a day. This course in Bormio

:01:32.:01:40.

is so brutal, there is no margin for error. Who will hold their nerve?

:01:41.:01:46.

That is the men's downhill from Bormio, and for those of you of all

:01:47.:01:52.

freestyle persuasion, there is plenty more.

:01:53.:02:07.

Strange days, Graham, the men's World Cup circuit, definitely. There

:02:08.:02:15.

is no real standout this season. Certainly not in men's downhill. Two

:02:16.:02:25.

years after Kuche retired, there is no one taking the bull by the horns,

:02:26.:02:29.

and also there is the elephant in the room, the Olympic Games. I spoke

:02:30.:02:39.

to Maria Hoefl-Riesch, and she was saying the World Cup is so intense,

:02:40.:02:43.

you have got to be in the moment. If you get are good result in that, it

:02:44.:02:51.

will help you in the Olympic Games. Here is what some others think. I

:02:52.:03:03.

just play it race by race and see how it goes. It is good for the ego,

:03:04.:03:11.

for the confidence, and to have a blaze in the Olympic Games we have

:03:12.:03:16.

to ski well in the World Cup. What is more important, the World Cup

:03:17.:03:22.

downhill all the Olympic Games? For sure, the Olympics. If I show up to

:03:23.:03:29.

have a race, I will try to be the best in anything. Who is the man to

:03:30.:03:40.

beat here? Is it Svindal? He has definitely been the most consistent,

:03:41.:04:06.

but Hoffer is one to watch, and Eric Gay, but this could also be Bode

:04:07.:04:18.

Miller's contest. It is a really icy, dark, gnarly roller-coaster.

:04:19.:04:24.

You get yourself in the zone, because it is time for his course

:04:25.:04:37.

Rome. -- run. I will try my hardest, but it has been snowing and there is

:04:38.:04:41.

a lot of new snow on the track which will slow things down.

:04:42.:04:49.

There are two sections you have to get right on this course, this is

:04:50.:04:56.

the first one. You have got to ski through these technical turns and

:04:57.:05:01.

carry the speed onto the bumpy Traverse. If you run low, you are

:05:02.:05:20.

going to lose all your speed. You have got to take a high line, and

:05:21.:05:26.

then you can convert that into speed. Out towards the San Pietro

:05:27.:05:43.

jump. Onto the gliding section. Now we are approaching the second part

:05:44.:05:47.

of the course that you really have to nail if you want to win here.

:05:48.:05:55.

This is the finish. You have got to come through really high and carry

:05:56.:06:04.

maximum speed down these bumpy, icy turns. Over the last little hop and

:06:05.:06:18.

out towards the line. As fun as you remember it? Fun is a peculiar word

:06:19.:06:24.

to use. It is really rough and bumpy, the visibility is dark. They

:06:25.:06:30.

turned the lights on up there and it is still dark. If that was a

:06:31.:06:34.

Christmas present, it was delivered by a very bad Santa clause. I will

:06:35.:06:40.

let you get your breath back. Now it is time to the big boys to get on

:06:41.:06:45.

the course. Matt Chilton has the commentary.

:06:46.:06:50.

The start has been delayed because of bad snow but now the conditions

:06:51.:06:56.

are good enough. The light and fresh snow add another uncertain dimension

:06:57.:07:10.

to the men's downhill. Defago, out of the gate. It is rough and bumpy

:07:11.:07:17.

today, the visibility is poor. The Olympic downhill champion on his

:07:18.:07:22.

way. He has shown few signs of returning form in the opening part

:07:23.:07:28.

of this season. Did the double back in 2009, the famous double which he

:07:29.:07:35.

won in successive weekends. The following season he won the Olympic

:07:36.:07:40.

downhill. It is rough and bumpy along there. This looks pretty solid

:07:41.:07:48.

for the moment for Didier Defago. A little hop, skip and a jump, landed

:07:49.:07:56.

solidly, and flies the big San Pietro jump. Two thirds of the way

:07:57.:08:11.

through, Travis Ganong leads. Nice work so far from Didier Defago and

:08:12.:08:20.

he is getting quicker. Experience counts for a lot on a day like

:08:21.:08:27.

today. They raised two training runs earlier in the week. He knows this

:08:28.:08:34.

course well, and he skied it well as well. Good stuff from the downhill

:08:35.:08:37.

champion. Didier Defago, the Olympic champion,

:08:38.:08:44.

takes an early lead but there is a lot of new snow on the course, and

:08:45.:08:48.

does that gets brushed off, the track should get quicker. He will be

:08:49.:08:59.

hoping it starts to snow again. Bode Miller, never far from the podium in

:09:00.:09:06.

Bormio. If the downhill winning comeback will happen anywhere, it

:09:07.:09:16.

should be here. Bode Miller is away, and it looks like he means

:09:17.:09:24.

business with a powerful start. Quicker than Didier Defago at the

:09:25.:09:32.

intermediate. A couple of emergency manoeuvres here from the American,

:09:33.:09:38.

who once lost his ski on this course on the way down. 0.27 behind, and he

:09:39.:09:59.

has a high line, back into the tuck position for as long as he can. He

:10:00.:10:04.

is a crowd favourite, wherever he goes. Off the San Pietro jump,

:10:05.:10:16.

stretches his legs on the landing. A couple of clicks slower than the

:10:17.:10:22.

Swiss through the gum. The timing is heading in the wrong direction as

:10:23.:10:28.

far as Miller and his fans are concerned. Another shaky,

:10:29.:10:33.

left-handed turn. He looks absolutely shattered, he has put

:10:34.:10:37.

everything into it. Tough conditions, and your legs hurt even

:10:38.:10:41.

more when you cannot really see where you are going. Miller has

:10:42.:10:51.

failed today. 1.25 behind Didier Defago. He was just trying a little

:10:52.:10:58.

bit too hard, even coming onto that bumpy Traverse run late in the

:10:59.:11:02.

line, the outside ski bouncing around the place. He doesn't like it

:11:03.:11:07.

when the light is not good, but no excuses, that was not a great run.

:11:08.:11:35.

The self-proclaimed womaniser but was Christof Innerhoffer up next now

:11:36.:11:44.

has a girlfriend so the others can rest easy. He shared victory with

:11:45.:12:01.

Austria in his last competition. Giving them something to celebrate

:12:02.:12:06.

in 2009. Five hundredths behind the current leader, Didier Defago. This

:12:07.:12:16.

is an encouraging start. There will be a lot of noise as he reaches the

:12:17.:12:21.

mid part of the course. A couple of thousand Italians camped out there.

:12:22.:12:26.

Now they can see that it is looking green for Christof Innerhofer. It is

:12:27.:12:36.

a good, high line. Nearly got twisted, that was not so clever.

:12:37.:12:45.

Clipped the control gate, sets up for the San Pietro, started his

:12:46.:12:49.

flight well, then straightened his legs to make sure of the landing.

:12:50.:12:54.

How close is he to Didier Defago hear? He is in touch. Travelling

:12:55.:13:10.

well. That was a brave line from the Italian, shows an original way into

:13:11.:13:21.

this section of the course. The final role, keeps it low, tucking in

:13:22.:13:33.

for home, and Innerhofer has it. An Italian leads the way in Bormio, and

:13:34.:13:40.

that is great cause for celebration for these supporters. He made a

:13:41.:13:45.

little mistake as he went past the mid-station, and that cost him a

:13:46.:13:53.

couple of tenths. He invested an awful lot then, staying really high,

:13:54.:13:58.

and that meant he was slow on the last intermediate time, but then

:13:59.:14:02.

that height convert it into speed and he flew into the finish and made

:14:03.:14:15.

up all of that time and more. Lets see if this year, Erik Guay can turn

:14:16.:14:26.

things around. Erik Guay, on his way for Canada. Like a speed skater

:14:27.:14:30.

coming out of the start, trying to generate some fast velocity across

:14:31.:14:36.

the snow, which is getting a bit quicker as each racer comes down. He

:14:37.:14:50.

is already a winner this season. He took the downhill classic on the

:14:51.:14:53.

21st of December. And Eric A maintains his lead. Not

:14:54.:15:11.

really taking risks here. -- Erik Guay. The left footed turn is where

:15:12.:15:30.

Innerhofer made a mistake. Guay comes through without any problems.

:15:31.:15:35.

What a jump from Erik Guay! We have not seen anybody smoother in flight

:15:36.:15:39.

than the Canadian was there. Fantastic to watch. And he has got

:15:40.:15:48.

the reward. He is getting quicker all the time. A little mistake from

:15:49.:15:57.

Guay, almost ending up on his backside. Looks like he is into his

:15:58.:16:08.

reserve tanks of energy now. And he is quicker than Innerhofer. Erik

:16:09.:16:18.

Guay, with a storming run on the Stelvio. So Erik Guay takes the lead

:16:19.:16:24.

on the top part of the course. He was absolutely flying. And in the

:16:25.:16:27.

midsection, beautiful over the San Pietro jump. Perfect technique in

:16:28.:16:34.

the air. If I have got to be picky, the lower section was not very

:16:35.:16:39.

good. He lost a huge chunk of time down there, so his run could be

:16:40.:16:44.

beaten. Although Aksel Lund Svindal has won the world downhill title

:16:45.:16:49.

twice, his pedigree over the top downhill tracks remain somewhat in

:16:50.:16:51.

the balance. He has never placed on the podium in Kitzbuhel, and only

:16:52.:16:59.

once here in Bormio. A win today would go a long way to silencing

:17:00.:17:10.

those doubters. Aksel Lund Svindal is enjoying a

:17:11.:17:18.

brilliant start to the season. This is the second of three down hills

:17:19.:17:30.

that have taken place so far. Aksel Lund Svindal then had a top five and

:17:31.:17:39.

has enjoyed great success. He seems to be winding up for an assault on

:17:40.:17:42.

the forthcoming Olympic Winter games in Sochi, and what a top section.

:17:43.:17:49.

The Norwegian is leaving it all on the hill a in Bormio. He is just

:17:50.:18:06.

about matching Guay. Svindal gets a bit of air under the tips of his

:18:07.:18:13.

skis. This is a real attack. He is hungry for this. He wants it. Pretty

:18:14.:18:27.

solid. Guay had a little mistake at this next right footed term. --

:18:28.:18:35.

turn. If Svindal can get this right, he might get the better of

:18:36.:18:38.

the Canadian. It looks a little smoother. 14 hundredths of a second

:18:39.:18:46.

are all that separate the leader, Erik Guay, and the man on the

:18:47.:18:49.

mountain at the moment, Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway. Svindal is one of

:18:50.:18:54.

the fittest of them. He will not be feeling any pain here as he skis for

:18:55.:18:59.

the lead in Bormio. Yes, he has got it! What a finish from Svindal.

:19:00.:19:09.

So, Svindal punishes temp won for that mistake he made on that last

:19:10.:19:16.

term. He was behind all the intermediates, and then when it came

:19:17.:19:19.

to the last split, he did not make the same mistake as Erik Guay, and

:19:20.:19:24.

that has given him the lead. That could give him the win.

:19:25.:19:44.

Good start from Reichelt. Competition building all the time

:19:45.:19:49.

within the Austrian camp, as Olympics election draws near. Only

:19:50.:19:52.

four men and women per nation and take part in the games, and the

:19:53.:19:56.

Austrians have a dozen downhill as to choose from. So they need to

:19:57.:20:00.

start performing now to be sure of a trip to Sochi. Reichelt do his

:20:01.:20:08.

chances the power of good with another solid result here. That was

:20:09.:20:39.

a good jump as well. Reichelt still potentially good enough for a top

:20:40.:20:43.

three. This was where Svindal got it just right and where Guay's mistake

:20:44.:20:50.

came. Just a bit of sunshine to show the way. Reichelt has got better

:20:51.:21:03.

visibility. Excellent finish. Second position. Reichelt pushes Svindal

:21:04.:21:09.

close. Excellent run from the Austrian.

:21:10.:21:15.

The Austrian downhill team have not been performing well this year, but

:21:16.:21:19.

Reichelt does love this course. He was joint first here last year and

:21:20.:21:24.

was able to put down a really good, clean one. It looks like the sun is

:21:25.:21:29.

starting to break through, so maybe this race is not completely over

:21:30.:21:41.

yet. The French have a really good

:21:42.:21:53.

tradition in the Olympic downhill. They got the men's gold medal in

:21:54.:21:59.

cheering in 2006. Theaux's season appears to be building towards the

:22:00.:22:05.

Winter Olympics games. He has made a good start here as well. He had to

:22:06.:22:29.

adjust his balance. Seems to have recovered his form. This is good

:22:30.:22:38.

from the Frenchman. He has had good results so far this season,

:22:39.:22:42.

including a first place in the first downhill of the tour in Canada. This

:22:43.:23:02.

section of terms can make or break a racer's downhill. The last

:23:03.:23:17.

left-handed turn, and he tucks in for the line. He has skied into

:23:18.:23:28.

fourth place. Great result for Adrien Theaux, due

:23:29.:23:31.

to the fact that the sun is starting to break through. Although the

:23:32.:23:36.

course is bumpy and the track is getting slower because of the bumps,

:23:37.:23:39.

if you can see them, it certainly helps an awful lot. And if it does

:23:40.:23:44.

clear up completely, it will speed it up by over a second. So it could

:23:45.:23:47.

be that the race is not completely over. We will have to wait and see.

:23:48.:24:07.

Meyer is certainly focused on getting a place in Sochi. He has

:24:08.:24:29.

started well. There are 34 Austrians who have been better than him in

:24:30.:24:34.

World Cup races so far. Now would be a good day for Mayer to really turn

:24:35.:24:49.

it on here in Stelvio. Squashes himself up into an aerodynamic ball.

:24:50.:25:08.

That was a good jump. Svindal was the one who was strongest on that

:25:09.:25:16.

section. Mayer will not be able to catch Aksel Lund Svindal. He is too

:25:17.:25:20.

far behind. He could just cement his place in the Austrian Olympic team.

:25:21.:25:29.

That was an excellent run. So, Mayer, taking advantage of the

:25:30.:25:35.

fact that the sun is starting to break through. That will give the

:25:36.:25:40.

Austrian something to look forward to. It will make for an interesting

:25:41.:25:44.

qualification for the Olympics in Sochi. Varettoni not only has local

:25:45.:25:58.

knowledge, but he has sunshine as well. It is much easier to

:25:59.:26:03.

anticipate the little lumps and bumps that come very regularly on

:26:04.:26:24.

this downhill course. This is good from the young Italian. That was

:26:25.:26:38.

solid as well. Gave himself a really solid start. And he might give

:26:39.:26:43.

himself a personal best result here in Bormio. I think he will be

:26:44.:27:11.

kicking himself. The Russians have one or two decent slalom and giant

:27:12.:27:24.

slalom skiers. They will want the chance of scoring a home medal in

:27:25.:27:27.

their home Winter Olympics. Svindal is still the leader. Glebov has good

:27:28.:27:34.

conditions. The snow has eased off. The light has improved. He is in

:27:35.:27:51.

trouble. Glebov is going to tangle with the nets here. Ouch! Goodness

:27:52.:27:55.

me, that is a big shunt from the Russian. I hope he is OK. No way

:27:56.:28:01.

back from here, he just has to sit tight and hope for the best. The

:28:02.:28:07.

soft snow cushioned his fall. The ski patrol are there quickly.

:28:08.:28:19.

This is a racer who has been on the cusp of the top French downhill

:28:20.:28:26.

skiers for the last six or seven skiers. Look at the conditions for

:28:27.:28:30.

the Frenchman, racing in bright sunshine. A massive jump. Goodness

:28:31.:28:37.

me, he was lucky to escape away from that. Took him by surprise. Fayed

:28:38.:28:58.

having a bit of a moment here. Got a window in the weather. Maybe Gill

:28:59.:29:10.

Fayed can do something similar here. He is not far away. Something to

:29:11.:29:22.

celebrate for the Frenchman the sun is breaking through, and that is

:29:23.:29:25.

definitely helping the racers. The track is bumpy, though, and that

:29:26.:29:29.

is costing them time on the lower part of the course. At a great run

:29:30.:29:33.

from Fayed shows that it is possible.

:29:34.:29:38.

So Aksel Lund Svindal wins in Bormio for the first time. What do you

:29:39.:30:02.

think made the difference today? I don't know if you watched the race

:30:03.:30:10.

today but he Innerhofer -- was amazingly fast on the last split. It

:30:11.:30:16.

is dark, and you need to have enough power and guts and courage to let it

:30:17.:30:23.

run down there. Last year I lost this race on the last 100 and I was

:30:24.:30:34.

determined not to do that. They had really bad luck, but the top group

:30:35.:30:40.

when they were starting, the light was OK. Did you see your

:30:41.:30:45.

intermediate times? Did you see how fast you were? I had a great top

:30:46.:30:52.

section, I really pushed it where I needed to. I just couldn't get the

:30:53.:30:57.

new ski to pick up but those things happened and I am satisfied with my

:30:58.:31:04.

racing. Is that man the new Colossus in the men's downhill? He is

:31:05.:31:09.

certainly a powerful man. You have got to say he rules the roost of the

:31:10.:31:32.

men's downhill. If you when Kitzbuehel, you are the best in the

:31:33.:31:38.

world. Now it is time to look elsewhere in the world of winter

:31:39.:31:44.

sports, this is the news. Calgary bore witness to unprecedented scenes

:31:45.:31:50.

for British winter sport two days ago. Freestyle skier rowing Cheshire

:31:51.:31:54.

became the first British woman to win the World Cup half pipe event.

:31:55.:31:59.

You have to look back over two decades for any similar British

:32:00.:32:05.

success. It propels her to second in the world rankings. This is what I

:32:06.:32:13.

have been working towards. It is one place closer to Sochi as well. In

:32:14.:32:59.

the women's World Cup, Austria's Marlies Schild having success. You

:33:00.:33:10.

can see now why so much as expected at these games. Now another member

:33:11.:33:16.

of team GB who is expected to do well is Jenny Jones. The past decade

:33:17.:33:27.

she has the discipline and now she has a chance to win an Olympic gold

:33:28.:33:33.

medal. I caught up with her to see how she is preparing and to take her

:33:34.:33:34.

on a little stroll. The woman in the yellow jacket is

:33:35.:33:55.

Britain's most successful winter sport athlete, I will not disturb

:33:56.:34:02.

her up for the last ten years she has dominated slope style

:34:03.:34:12.

snowboarding. This is one of the qualifying events for the Sochi

:34:13.:34:15.

Olympic Games and she is currently in first place.

:34:16.:34:34.

Jenny Jones! So good. Does that mean you are all but guaranteed a spot

:34:35.:34:46.

for the Olympic Games? I never like to say unless I know for sure. It is

:34:47.:34:55.

a massive step. Just to get a podium as well, I haven't had a podium for

:34:56.:35:02.

a while. I was like, will I ever get a podium again? And I did! Go and

:35:03.:35:09.

rest, you have got a big day tomorrow. After her impressive

:35:10.:35:12.

second place, we set off on a journey that I hoped would take

:35:13.:35:18.

Jenny out of her comfort zone. We were using split boards, snowboards

:35:19.:35:23.

that split into two, allowing you to access remote parts of the

:35:24.:35:28.

mountains. Our guide explained what was in store. This is goal number

:35:29.:35:46.

one, wearing shorts! For stride length! It will look like the same

:35:47.:35:51.

pace but I will not be getting as much distance. It is probably the

:35:52.:35:59.

best place in the world to learn how to split board. Yes, that is what I

:36:00.:36:08.

am talking about! It has been a while since I carried this kind of

:36:09.:36:13.

weight. Get it all in the right place, sitting on the hips. For

:36:14.:36:18.

added humiliation, the first section of downhill so you have two ski it.

:36:19.:36:31.

Bear in mind, I have not skied for a week in my whole life. That was more

:36:32.:36:40.

adrenaline than I was expecting! More adrenaline than yesterday? Yes,

:36:41.:36:47.

let's try the lunge again. Jenny has dominated her sport for almost a

:36:48.:36:51.

decade but I wanted to get her into the wilderness to see if it gave her

:36:52.:36:55.

a different perspective on what she has achieved and still hopes to

:36:56.:36:59.

achieve. I thought I was taking Jenny out of her comfort zone, but

:37:00.:37:03.

by the looks of it she is very comfortable after about three hours

:37:04.:37:09.

already, and after an initial problem with her foot, she has got

:37:10.:37:17.

her teeth stuck into this. I like to do this, because otherwise my pace

:37:18.:37:22.

drops off and goes into Jenny Short legged mode! I feel like I have gone

:37:23.:37:30.

into another realm, into survival mode. I feel all right. I definitely

:37:31.:37:36.

had a little bit earlier on but now I feel we are on the home straight.

:37:37.:37:46.

I have done it! There was a period there when I thought you might not.

:37:47.:37:51.

That took her about an hour longer than it was supposed to, and Jenny

:37:52.:37:56.

went through about three different phases of total and utter

:37:57.:37:59.

frustration, physical exhaustion, then elation. I think she is pretty

:38:00.:38:05.

tired now and she will eat like a horse and sleep like a baby, but she

:38:06.:38:15.

is pretty excited as well. I have not split boarded before and I was

:38:16.:38:21.

excited this morning to see what it was all about. I was definitely

:38:22.:38:26.

tired, so a lot of adrenaline had been in me yesterday and I didn't

:38:27.:38:30.

realise how draining that was to have it all come out of me. When I

:38:31.:38:40.

saw the hut in the distance, I was like, glory! And I did have a sense

:38:41.:38:45.

of achievement, doing something different. It was really nice.

:38:46.:39:01.

The last time we met, you had known that slope style was going to be in

:39:02.:39:09.

the Olympics for about six months and you were equal parts terrified

:39:10.:39:15.

and excited about it. Has that changed? I don't know, probably

:39:16.:39:20.

equal still, but in different ways. Still just as excited, and less

:39:21.:39:26.

terrified because obviously I have got some better results under my

:39:27.:39:31.

belt. If you had spoken to me two days ago, I was still very on edge,

:39:32.:39:37.

I needed more points, nothing safe yet. I wonder if competition is

:39:38.:39:46.

something you have learned to do, or if the two come hand-in-hand. I get

:39:47.:39:55.

a buzz out of landing a trick, but also I get a buzz of landing the

:39:56.:40:01.

tricks when it counts in the competition. One event at a time,

:40:02.:40:10.

and trying hard to remember why I like snowboarding, and again, coming

:40:11.:40:13.

back to the same thing, enjoying the tricks. We are going to go and make

:40:14.:40:23.

the most of the sun. I think it is icy but the slope is gentle and

:40:24.:40:28.

nice. It will be nice just to try the board. And the split board. Are

:40:29.:40:41.

you excited? Yes, I am excited to put it into snowboard mode.

:40:42.:40:52.

Unfortunately, despite the early promise of sunshine, the weather

:40:53.:40:55.

quickly closed in and we were forced to retreat to the hut. It was so

:40:56.:41:04.

nice to get taken away from the environment I am usually in, its

:41:05.:41:10.

trade up to the park, checking what the jumps are like, getting ready

:41:11.:41:14.

and that sort of thing, but to come and do this, I have had a really

:41:15.:41:20.

nice time. It is difficult not to get really excited when you listen

:41:21.:41:25.

to her talk and you see her arrive at this level, that something really

:41:26.:41:30.

good will not happen when we get to Sochi. We wish Jenny all the best as

:41:31.:41:35.

she recovers from the concussion she suffered after a training accident

:41:36.:41:40.

last month. We cannot wait to see her back in action in Sochi. Now it

:41:41.:41:45.

is time to catch up with one of our stars from the future. Let's see how

:41:46.:41:50.

one of Yorkshire's finest young Cossacks is getting on. I am James

:41:51.:42:06.

Woods from Sheffield, and I am a slope style skier. It is going to be

:42:07.:42:18.

drawn out, down the hill. Every course is different, all the

:42:19.:42:23.

competitions have different courses. The idea is just to express the best

:42:24.:42:28.

that you can do and it is judged sport. There are no rules, no one's

:42:29.:42:34.

saying you cannot do this, you cannot do that, there is none of

:42:35.:42:38.

that. It is your way of getting down that slope. Obviously stoked to be

:42:39.:42:45.

in the Olympics, it is fantastic to have the exposure of the widest

:42:46.:42:54.

audience in our sport. Feeling the pressure of expectation, obviously

:42:55.:42:59.

it will be fantastic but I just want to do my best. I want to bring that

:43:00.:43:04.

medal back the Great Britain. I will certainly go out and strive for it,

:43:05.:43:09.

I just hope everyone realises I will do my best, and we will see how we

:43:10.:43:16.

do. That's all we have time for. We are heading to Switzerland next week

:43:17.:43:22.

for the men's giant slalom, where the battles continue. Before that we

:43:23.:43:26.

have live coverage of the women's downhill next Saturday from

:43:27.:43:34.

10:30am. You can watch it on the red button, the BBC sport app, or the

:43:35.:43:44.

full race afterwards on the iPlayer. Press your red button in

:43:45.:43:48.

approximately 30 seconds, we have the coverage of the World Cup

:43:49.:44:07.

skeleton competition from Germany. From Bormio, ciao. 18, 17, 16...

:44:08.:44:14.
