Hello and welcome to Ski Sunday from Red Square. That's right, we

:00:50.:00:56.

are in Russia just one year before the Winter Olympics from Sochi and

:00:56.:01:00.

we have a spectacular show of parallel slalom night racing.

:01:00.:01:07.

Skiers go head-to-head in a head- to-head format. His minus 22 so

:01:07.:01:12.

don't laugh at our hats! They are necessary and this was the last one

:01:12.:01:17.

in the shop. There are no mountain ranges here. Instead we have a

:01:17.:01:22.

massive man made ski-slope. This is no normal programme. This is Moscow

:01:22.:01:32.
:01:32.:02:11.

Later on in the show we will be in St Moritz, where Amy Williams will

:02:11.:02:16.

be giving us tips on how to get down to the bob track. Now we are

:02:16.:02:21.

in Moscow for the first parallel slalom on Ski Sunday. What is it

:02:21.:02:26.

all about? The crowd, the atmosphere. Head-to-head racing, so

:02:26.:02:32.

much more exciting. You can see who crosses the line first, even if it

:02:32.:02:36.

is only a few hundredths of a second. They have this massive

:02:36.:02:41.

scaffolding and they have piled snow on top of it and frozen it.

:02:41.:02:47.

How does the format work? It is over two runs. If you lose the

:02:47.:02:51.

first one, you take in that disadvantage, that time deficit

:02:51.:02:58.

into the second. You start it will open a fraction of a second later.

:02:58.:03:03.

-- your start gate. That will show you how far you are behind and help

:03:03.:03:07.

you catch up that deficit. We have men and women here tonight. Who

:03:07.:03:13.

will do well from the women? Tina Maze, I think. Lindsey Vonn has

:03:13.:03:17.

decided not to come. Tina Maze is leading the World Wide standings

:03:17.:03:23.

and she is probably favourite tonight but she was beaten in

:03:23.:03:28.

Munich in the night slalom by Veronika Zuzulova. That will be an

:03:28.:03:32.

interesting battle. And on the men's side? There are two clear

:03:32.:03:42.
:03:42.:04:06.

favourites. Felix Neureuther won In the first round there were some

:04:06.:04:10.

very tight races. In the women's competition, Tina Maze looked

:04:10.:04:16.

incredibly strong. In the lower half of the draw, Michaela

:04:16.:04:20.

Kirchgasser was looking quick. She will meet Mikaela Shiffrin in the

:04:20.:04:24.

next round. For some it was too much to handle. Brittany Phelan

:04:24.:04:34.

crashed out but brought some freestyle to Moscow. In the men's

:04:34.:04:38.

competition, Marcel Hirscher had a huge shock. He was leading her

:04:38.:04:47.

Norwegian but he barged the gate in the second run. Surely even Marcel

:04:47.:04:51.

Hirscher cannot overturn that deficit! This will be one of the

:04:51.:04:57.

biggest wins of the night so far. But the Norwegian is making a mess

:04:57.:05:04.

of it. Marcel Hirscher has won! That was a great fightback. He then

:05:04.:05:08.

has to take on Jens Byggmark, who is looking strong. It will be an

:05:08.:05:13.

interesting battle. Felix Neureuther third cruise through his

:05:13.:05:22.

foot. 16 of the best have been cut down to eight. This will be fast

:05:22.:05:32.
:05:32.:05:34.

and frenetic with Matt Chilton on against the best of the Swiss,

:05:34.:05:41.

Wendy Holden. She is up against the best in the world, Tina Maze. She

:05:41.:05:47.

is on an incredible winning streak this season. First round of the

:05:47.:05:50.

quarter-finals. They raised once and then they swap for the second

:05:50.:06:00.
:06:00.:06:19.

breathtaking race against Tina Maze. 0.83 in front. A great start. Tanja

:06:19.:06:29.
:06:29.:06:41.

Poutiainen against Veronika green and then it is go. -- three

:06:41.:06:51.
:06:51.:07:09.

Lena Duerr from Germany. Lena Duerr got caught up in the start gate,

:07:09.:07:16.

getting ahead of the timing mechanism, and she paid the price.

:07:16.:07:26.
:07:26.:07:30.

This is very tight. I think freedom and -- Frida Hansdotter has just

:07:30.:07:40.
:07:40.:07:47.

Shiffrin. Mikaela Shiffrin is fighting back. The American tends

:07:47.:07:53.

to do well at this. The juniors, the Europeans, but it is the

:07:53.:08:00.

Austrian striking for the front and she gets it by 51 hundredths of a

:08:00.:08:10.
:08:10.:08:27.

difference. Wendy Holden S Gates onto the course ahead of Tina Maze.

:08:27.:08:37.
:08:37.:08:37.

-- Wendy Holdener skates on to the course. She wins! A massive victory

:08:37.:08:47.
:08:47.:09:19.

for Wendy Holden. She has beaten finish from Tanja Poutiainen but

:09:19.:09:29.
:09:29.:09:45.

these terms. She has been skiing beautifully this season but this

:09:45.:09:52.

format does not suit her. Super from Lena Duerr, into the semi-

:09:52.:10:02.
:10:02.:10:16.

Shiffrin quickly out of the gate and closing down that lead.

:10:16.:10:20.

Michaela Kirchgasser fighting back but she is out and Mikaela Shiffrin

:10:20.:10:30.
:10:30.:10:36.

advances. Mikaela Shiffrin takes a the quarter-finals. What on earth

:10:36.:10:41.

was Tina Maze doing? She looked like she had fallen asleep. Maybe

:10:41.:10:43.

because she cruised through the first round she thought it would be

:10:43.:10:48.

easy in the second but she was wrong. Do you think she

:10:48.:10:53.

underestimated her opponent? really did. Veronika Zuzulova is

:10:53.:11:03.
:11:03.:11:17.

looking very strong. She has got an on. A straightforward run to the

:11:17.:11:22.

line. He will take forward the maximum penalty time of 0.5 into

:11:22.:11:32.
:11:32.:11:45.

the second round. Quarter-final that time. He is gaining on David

:11:45.:11:55.
:11:55.:12:18.

Myhrer was 4th in Munich and Fritz Myhrer but we know how fast Fritz

:12:18.:12:23.

Dopfer is in the middle of the course. Here he goes again. The

:12:23.:12:27.

Germans finding excellent speed. They come of the programs

:12:27.:12:37.
:12:37.:12:57.

simultaneously. Fritz Dopfer Baptiste Grange. Felix Neureuther

:12:58.:13:06.

will have to play catch-up. Neck- and-neck as they hit the job. Very

:13:06.:13:15.

tight. Down to the wire. Only just in front, Jean-Baptiste Grange and

:13:15.:13:25.
:13:25.:13:43.

Felix Neureuther can claw that back the gap. He must be hoping for a

:13:43.:13:46.

mistake from Marcel Hirscher. He has already made one but he rarely

:13:46.:13:53.

makes two. Marcel Hirscher cruising to victory and has time to look

:13:53.:14:03.
:14:03.:14:14.

across at look at Jens Byggmark. night already. He beat Manfred

:14:14.:14:19.

Moelgg after a fight back in are the last 16. Hoping for similar

:14:19.:14:29.
:14:29.:14:35.

on the gate. David Chodounsky is right in there! Oh, he has missed

:14:35.:14:41.

it by one hundredth of a second! Ivica Kostelic is through by the

:14:41.:14:51.
:14:51.:14:51.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 51 seconds

:14:51.:15:42.

Grange and Aksel Lund Svindal -- good start. Be German March and

:15:42.:15:52.
:15:52.:15:56.

early it in front. Grange has made a quarter of a second.

:15:56.:16:00.

comparison to the women's quarter- finals, the men's went much more to

:16:00.:16:06.

form. After Hirscher had that shock in the first-round, he was very

:16:06.:16:13.

strong. And Ivica Kostelic looking -- Felix Neureuther looking very

:16:13.:16:20.

smooth. I think he will go through. The one thing we can see from the

:16:20.:16:25.

quarter-finals is the semi-finals will be even tighter? I think so.

:16:25.:16:31.

Now ready for the first women's semi final, Wendy Holdener of

:16:31.:16:40.

Switzerland goes against Veronika Velez Zuzulova of Slovakia. She got

:16:40.:16:44.

jammed up and went a bit early but it does not seem to have affected

:16:44.:16:49.

her start. Division was blurred for Veronika Velez Zuzulova as she

:16:49.:16:56.

picked up an extra item of head gear halfway down. Turn for turn,

:16:56.:17:06.
:17:06.:17:25.

her trials and tribulations on the Leonid you're in the second semi-

:17:25.:17:35.
:17:35.:17:48.

gear. This is great skiing. Mikaela Shiffrin takes it by six hundredths

:17:48.:17:58.
:17:58.:18:10.

of a second. The first run to the Velez Zuzulova in their second run.

:18:10.:18:20.
:18:20.:18:24.

The Slovakian indirect cause has Velez Zuzulova. She qualifies for

:18:24.:18:32.

the final by 14 hundredths of a second. She will ski either against

:18:32.:18:42.
:18:42.:18:51.

Li Na de were all Mikaela Shiffrin the start with a good fast entrance

:18:51.:18:56.

onto the course for the American. She has stretched her lead already.

:18:56.:19:04.

A brilliant start for Mikaela Shiffrin. It is tight between them.

:19:04.:19:14.
:19:14.:19:29.

one of if favourites to make it into the final. She had a scare on

:19:29.:19:32.

the first run where she had to ski through the flag but then she came

:19:32.:19:40.

through. I thought Mikaela Shiffrin was a bit inexperienced. She had a

:19:40.:19:45.

wide turn and did not carry the speed. I have got to say that

:19:45.:19:55.
:19:55.:19:58.

Veronika Velez Zuzulova is the Kostelic will be in the Blue course,

:19:58.:20:08.
:20:08.:20:20.

Hirscher is going to win the first run by a quarter of the second. A

:20:20.:20:30.
:20:30.:20:30.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 51 seconds

:20:30.:21:31.

man who won in Munich was the Kostelic takes his opportunity

:21:31.:21:41.
:21:41.:21:46.

He did all the hard work. And Hirscher takes his place in the

:21:46.:21:56.
:21:56.:21:58.

final. The races are ready for the second run of semi-final number two.

:21:58.:22:08.
:22:08.:22:20.

There is Andre Myhrer and Felix a brilliant start from Felix

:22:20.:22:29.

Neureuther. Brilliance being from the Swede. - a brilliant skiing

:22:29.:22:38.

from the Swede. He is in the final. Not hiding any glee there. Hirscher

:22:38.:22:42.

made a big mistake on the second run and let Ivica Kostelic back in.

:22:43.:22:48.

Ivica Kostelic was leading. He went through a gate and the polls sprang

:22:48.:22:53.

out of his hand. That caused him to lose momentum. He is what we talk

:22:53.:22:57.

about with the women. Ivica Kostelic lost momentum at the

:22:57.:23:00.

bottom. Hirscher was able to save some of the momentum from the top

:23:00.:23:06.

and still get through. Yes, he was looking very fast indeed. Andre

:23:06.:23:10.

Myhrer has learned to start a lot quicker than I have seen before. It

:23:10.:23:14.

should be interesting but my money is still on Hirscher. All right, I

:23:14.:23:24.
:23:24.:23:54.

will take Andre Myhrer by default. Zuzulova has found her start.

:23:54.:24:00.

Nothing between them. It is tight! One hundredth of a second after the

:24:00.:24:08.

first run in favour of Lena Duerr. She fought her way back after a

:24:08.:24:15.

stunning start from Veronika Velez Zuzulova. They are about to race

:24:15.:24:25.
:24:25.:24:37.

One hundredth of a second between them. Forget about that margin, it

:24:37.:24:41.

is first-past-the-post it. It has been an explosive start from the

:24:41.:24:46.

German, having the best World Cup event of her career. She is

:24:46.:24:56.
:24:56.:25:06.

kick-starting victory under floodlights here in the Russian

:25:06.:25:15.

Coming here, did you know you had the form to win in this kind of

:25:16.:25:22.

competition? No, I did not. I did not know how to start. It was the

:25:22.:25:31.

first time I tried it. It was so fun. She has done it again! Coming

:25:31.:25:38.

into the competition I would not have rated her at all. She remained

:25:39.:25:43.

relaxed. We talked earlier about the fact that maybe Mikaela

:25:43.:25:49.

Shiffrin had underestimated Lena Duerr. I think she is very tidy.

:25:49.:25:54.

thinks there and maybe Felix Neureuther gave her some tips about

:25:55.:25:59.

how to ski parallel slalom because the technique is different when you

:25:59.:26:03.

have to duck your body around the gates of compared with normal

:26:03.:26:07.

slalom when you let your body go through. A fantastic victory for

:26:07.:26:17.
:26:17.:26:29.

leader in the slalom standings. The men's final first run. Andre Myhrer

:26:29.:26:36.

in blue. A great start from Andre Myhrer. He has a slight advantage

:26:36.:26:46.
:26:46.:27:11.

again. Next to nothing between the Andre Myhrer, we know has mastered

:27:11.:27:15.

the technique at the bottom of the course with this incredibly direct

:27:15.:27:25.
:27:25.:27:39.

line. They are called to readiness start. On to the steep section here.

:27:39.:27:49.
:27:49.:27:49.

Nothing between them. Hirscher takes the win by 16 hundredths of a

:27:49.:27:57.

second with a stunning finish. He has dominated the World Cup in all

:27:57.:28:02.

the forms in which he has participated this season. Tonight

:28:02.:28:12.
:28:12.:28:15.

he has won the parallel slalom in Yes! In it means that much to be

:28:15.:28:20.

right. There is so little to split between his races but Hirscher is

:28:20.:28:25.

consistently winning. What is he doing? It is all about that terrain

:28:25.:28:29.

changed. Just before the job when they come onto the flat, Hirscher

:28:29.:28:33.

makes a solid, aggressive pole plant. It is an old-school

:28:33.:28:37.

technique which you do not often see in racing anymore. It set up

:28:37.:28:42.

his upper body so he is square going into that extra -- final run-

:28:42.:28:48.

in said that is why he is carrying extra speed. Are you happy because

:28:48.:28:51.

Hirscher won or because you predicted it? He is a great skier

:28:51.:28:57.

to watch. I watched him race when he was 14 in a children's race and

:28:57.:29:02.

he was exciting Ben and exciting now.

:29:02.:29:06.

You survived an incredible run in the first-round. Talk us through

:29:06.:29:12.

that? I was lucky that he made a big mistake. I took my chance.

:29:12.:29:17.

did not make any mistakes after that. Used seemed pretty

:29:17.:29:24.

concentrated right way through the night. It was shaking me and then,

:29:24.:29:34.
:29:34.:29:41.

come on, stay focused and Snowboarding does elicit the events

:29:46.:29:55.

in a city events. But it has. Slalom is just as much fun to raise

:29:55.:30:01.

as it is to watch and you can see that from the spectators. You can

:30:01.:30:06.

also see who crosses the line first. Are we going to see more events

:30:06.:30:10.

like this into the calendar? think so. It brings the events into

:30:10.:30:17.

the city. It can't compare, can it? No, but when you have someone like

:30:17.:30:24.

Marcel Hirscher here, there will always be some excitement. This

:30:24.:30:29.

week in San Moritz we have the bobsleigh championship. But we had

:30:29.:30:39.
:30:39.:30:42.

our own race first, of a more Weaving through the tranquil forest

:30:49.:30:53.

rears its head for only a few icy months of the year to deliver a

:30:53.:31:02.

Unforgiving yet fascinating this track holds a place in sliding

history that is unrivalled by its So this is it? The famous Olympia

bobsleigh track in St Moritz. People have been sliding down on

:31:33.:31:36.

bobsleighs here for over 100 years. This is the birthplace of bobsleigh.

:31:36.:31:39.

The course was constructed in 1903 and every winter since they build

:31:39.:31:43.

the track by hand from snow and ice cut out of the lake at the bottom

:31:43.:31:46.

of the hill. It means it's the only self-refrigerating track in the

:31:46.:31:50.

world and that makes it a very short season. But today is our day

:31:50.:31:53.

and we have enlisted some help to get us through it. Olympic skeleton

:31:53.:31:59.

gold medallist, Amy Williams. have been on this track in the

:31:59.:32:03.

skeleton. Have you ever been in the bobsleigh? I have never been in a

:32:03.:32:09.

bobsleigh but I have been down this track many times before. This is

:32:09.:32:13.

the 2nd quickest track in the world. For me, the horseshoe corner, I

:32:13.:32:17.

have crashed nearly every time I did skeleton. It is a unique corner.

:32:17.:32:20.

I am scared, excited and nervous all at once. I did not expect that.

:32:20.:32:24.

I thought you would be relaxed about this. No, I am scared. It is

:32:24.:32:29.

new for me and I don't know what I am doing. One thing you need to

:32:29.:32:31.

know, he has an excess of testosterone and he is insanely

:32:31.:32:37.

competitive. He will try and beat you. So Graham has that? You've

:32:37.:32:41.

been in a skeleton before, haven't you? Yes. I understand a little bit

:32:41.:32:48.

of ice. And I know the track. are even. Great. The best man will

:32:48.:32:52.

win. I want to do a recce first. The initial idea for the Olympia

:32:52.:32:55.

bob run was conceived by the founding fathers of bobsleigh, the

:32:55.:32:59.

British. Once famed for sliding around the streets of St Moritz,

:32:59.:33:02.

the time came when through fundraising a bespoke track was

:33:02.:33:07.

built above the town. The course took three weeks to build and was

:33:07.:33:11.

officially opened on New Year's Day, 1904. From November until March

:33:11.:33:14.

each year since, this unique track has witnessed and shaped the

:33:14.:33:20.

development of bobsleigh into the exhilarating sport we know today.

:33:20.:33:25.

Check out this old bobsleigh. at the steering wheel on that.

:33:25.:33:28.

don't reckon we will have steering like that. It's like the early days

:33:28.:33:34.

of Formula One. Yes, crazy. health and safety back then. Along

:33:34.:33:37.

with the neighbouring Cresta Run, St Moritz took sliding to the next

:33:37.:33:40.

level with its two custom built tracks. The Olympia track inherited

:33:40.:33:43.

its name after hosting the 1928 and the 48 Winter Olympics, which

:33:43.:33:49.

cemented its reputation as the premier sliding venue of its time.

:33:49.:33:52.

And to this day, the Olympia bob run is still hosting prestigious

:33:52.:33:56.

events. The 2013 World Championships were held here just

:33:56.:33:59.

last week, proving this place still provides an uncompromising test of

:33:59.:34:05.

skill and nerve for the modern-day slider. With the dangers of taking

:34:05.:34:08.

to this track all too apparent, myself and Graham in particular

:34:08.:34:11.

were keen to take a closer look and listen to Amy's advice before our

:34:11.:34:18.

very own individual head to head race. It is a very unique track to

:34:18.:34:22.

slide. Completely different than anything else. Great. Thanks! This

:34:22.:34:29.

is awesome. In a positive way! crashed here a lot and it is unique.

:34:29.:34:34.

And you are really nervous. Great! The horseshoe, I have crashed every

:34:34.:34:37.

single time I have been on this track. Have you picked up injuries

:34:38.:34:41.

here? I have smashed my whole helmet. Been completely dazed and

:34:41.:34:47.

confused the whole way down. It frightens me, this corner. Would

:34:47.:34:51.

you describe it as the crux of the rest of the course? If you get this

:34:51.:34:54.

right you set yourself up for the rest? You have to nail this corner

:34:54.:34:59.

completely and that is where the best people win. You get the speed

:34:59.:35:02.

down, you get so much height and carry the speed with you and you

:35:02.:35:06.

can fly the rest of the course. What kind of speed are you doing?

:35:06.:35:08.

The bobsleigh can get over 140 kilometres per hour. You are

:35:08.:35:15.

shifting it. It is really quick. So what do you reckon close-up? Scary?

:35:15.:35:20.

It is huge. Look up there, there is a dent in the roof. And paint left

:35:20.:35:25.

behind where someone has hit that. It is like driving a motorbike

:35:25.:35:35.
:35:35.:35:36.

Here we are at the finish. After what he said on the way down here,

:35:36.:35:40.

I am going to be happy to be at this point. Let's aim just to get

:35:40.:35:44.

here. I am in it to win. That's a surprise! After our course walk, it

:35:44.:35:47.

was then time to head back up to the start for an extreme up-close-

:35:47.:35:57.
:35:57.:36:01.

and-personal look at what we would It is the same experience and the

:36:02.:36:05.

same speed as a normal race. It will be like you have weight on

:36:05.:36:09.

your shoulder. How many Gs are we looking at? At the horseshoe, 4G,

:36:09.:36:14.

4.5G. Four times your body weight, four times your helmet. It is a

:36:14.:36:24.
:36:24.:36:51.

OK, here we go. It is actually My head was two or three inches

:36:51.:36:56.

from the wall. I was amazed by that. It feels so different because in

:36:56.:36:59.

skeleton the track is massive around you. You are this little pin

:36:59.:37:02.

lying on the sled, whereas the bobsleigh around you takes up that

:37:02.:37:07.

space. Crazy. Experiencing the track firsthand certainly made the

:37:07.:37:11.

reality of our mono bob challenge hit home. With our solo runs fast

:37:11.:37:14.

approaching, it was time for some words of wisdom from Swiss legend

:37:14.:37:22.

Christian Reich. I have done more than 3000 runs here on this track.

:37:22.:37:29.

Since 1985 I started my career. Yes, it is an old track. It is the

:37:29.:37:36.

birthplace for bobsleigh. More than 100 years. It is a good history at

:37:36.:37:40.

this track. Do you still get an adrenaline rush when you get in the

:37:40.:37:43.

bob? You have a little bit of pressure. That is fine, it is good,

:37:43.:37:53.
:37:53.:37:55.

that is what I like. It makes you feel alive? Yes. You have won a

:37:55.:37:58.

silver medal and we're complete amateurs. What do we need to do?

:37:58.:38:01.

Concentrate but relax. You have a downhill skier, an Olympic gold

:38:01.:38:04.

medallist skeleton slider, and a snowboarder. Who is going to win?

:38:04.:38:10.

Skeleton for sure. With those last words of advice, it was time to

:38:10.:38:14.

prepare for our solo runs. OK, our padding is to protect our shoulders

:38:14.:38:18.

a bit if we are rattling around in the bobsleigh. Definitely not in

:38:18.:38:24.

case we turn over? I don't think we will turn over but I am happy to

:38:24.:38:30.

have this protection. It is pretty cool. Where is Graham? Oh, no!

:38:30.:38:35.

we ready to go? You are taking this seriously. You couldn't help

:38:36.:38:40.

yourself, could you? I need my daily fix of Lycra. Any excuse and

:38:40.:38:44.

he will jump into the Lycra. It was time for the talking to stop and

:38:44.:38:47.

with nervous energy building, we met course chief Roberto for our

:38:47.:38:52.

final instructions. Don't steer in big movements. Just little

:38:52.:38:59.

movements like this. Let the sled go down. He will find his way on

:38:59.:39:04.

his own. OK? The sled knows the way? Reassuring. What kind of speed

:39:04.:39:11.

will we reach? About 115, 120, depending on the ice conditions.

:39:11.:39:21.
:39:21.:39:22.

That is still quick. Let's go. luck. Here we go. Wish me luck.

:39:22.:39:32.
:39:32.:39:44.

Nice and loose. This is real. We That is awesome, awesome. You are

:39:44.:39:50.

next. I am scared. I am scared, too. That was so much fun it was

:39:50.:39:53.

ridiculous. Absolutely brilliant. Adrenaline is falling into me like

:39:53.:40:03.
:40:03.:40:08.

a flash flood. Tiny movements, I can't believe that I am doing

:40:08.:40:18.
:40:18.:40:30.

Last one. I've just seen two of the boys go down and now I am super

:40:30.:40:34.

nervous. It is my turn next so I'm going to get ready. I told you the

:40:34.:40:43.

Lycra was not going to work. You need a big, heavy coat. Here goes.

:40:43.:40:53.
:40:53.:41:10.

Can I beat an Olympic gold Beaten by over 1.5 seconds. To be

:41:10.:41:13.

fair to Amy, they measure the total weight, the weight of the athlete

:41:13.:41:18.

plus the weight of the bob. The bob weighs the same, so the fact we

:41:18.:41:22.

have beaten her by over a second is down to the fact that we ate too

:41:22.:41:32.
:41:32.:41:34.

Well done, well done. It was way quicker than I thought it would be.

:41:34.:41:38.

I started steering and I hit a few walls and I thought I would let the

:41:38.:41:43.

sled go. You were slower than me on the top and then you picked up

:41:43.:41:47.

speed as the run went on. Either you have a rocket sled or you drove

:41:47.:41:51.

better than me. Having the opportunity to make the mono bob

:41:51.:41:55.

run down this legendary course was both a real rush and a huge honour.

:41:55.:42:05.
:42:05.:42:06.

An experience like no other on a Taking on the Olympic run made us

:42:06.:42:09.

realise why this has become one of the most famous snow sport

:42:09.:42:13.

destinations in the world. And in our own small way, we made our own

:42:13.:42:23.
:42:23.:42:26.

piece of Ski Sunday bobsleigh I know that I beat an Olympic gold

:42:26.:42:30.

medallist but to be honest it means more to beat you! Lots of things

:42:30.:42:32.

affect the performance of a bobsleigh, the weight of the driver,

:42:32.:42:38.

but also the bobsleigh. Aerodynamics and stuff. It is just

:42:38.:42:43.

noise! And bad excuses! Now a much more important victory

:42:43.:42:50.

to tell you about. On that same track, Shelley Rudman has won

:42:50.:42:54.

Britain's first skeleton gold, a massive congratulations to her of

:42:54.:42:58.

an Lizzy Yarnold who came 4th. After her Olympic silver in Turin

:42:58.:43:03.

and Amy's gold medal in Vancouver, the British team are in great form

:43:03.:43:07.

ahead of Sochi. It went really well yesterday and so I was more relaxed

:43:07.:43:12.

coming into today but I did not expect to win. Things went well and

:43:12.:43:17.

I am happy. That is it from a very Baltic night in Moscow so that

:43:17.:43:22.

means it is time to head back to the mountains. Yes, we are heading

:43:22.:43:27.

West, swapping vodka for schnapps, as we had to Austria for the Alpine

:43:27.:43:33.

skiing World Championship, the biggest event outside the Olympic

:43:33.:43:37.

Games. Erik Guay of Canada is the reigning champion in the men's

:43:37.:43:44.

downhill and he will be fighting hard to retain that title. We will

:43:44.:43:49.
