Hello and welcome to Ski Sunday. We are in Austria for the men's

:00:56.:01:02.

downhill from Kitzbuehel. The entire racing world is buzzing

:01:02.:01:12.
:01:12.:01:13.

after a seminal moment last week, it was Johan Clarey who broke the

:01:13.:01:21.

100 mph barrier. This man is obsessed with speed, constantly

:01:21.:01:27.

striving to go faster and faster. We have invented, engineered and

:01:27.:01:33.

manufactured speed machines. Nothing captivates quite like

:01:33.:01:40.

natural Velocity, especially in the heat of battle. In the race...

:01:40.:01:46.

speed on the gun is more than 100 mph, a new record. Man's need for

:01:46.:01:56.
:01:56.:01:58.

speed continues, where the faster you go the harder you fall. The 100

:01:58.:02:08.
:02:08.:02:09.

mph club has a new member, and the race is on to join him. That race

:02:10.:02:16.

will go down in history, never mind that it was won by Christophe

:02:16.:02:19.

Innerhofer, it was Johan Clarey who will be remembered for that

:02:19.:02:27.

extraordinary speed record. I wonder how long it will last. Later

:02:27.:02:32.

on I will be meeting Tom Burt, who has elevated the sport to new

:02:32.:02:38.

heights. First it is the men's downhill. Victory here is the

:02:38.:02:43.

ultimate prize for the racers. For one weekend every year the biggest

:02:43.:02:47.

superpowers in skiing gather to contest the greatest title in their

:02:47.:02:55.

sport. For the host of this adrenaline first, the win is long

:02:55.:03:05.
:03:05.:03:10.

overdue. The strife, of course carved out of Austrian rock. A

:03:10.:03:20.
:03:20.:03:21.

police ruled by Bass. systematic stuff from Hermann Maier.

:03:21.:03:25.

This was once a symbol of Austrian skiing supremacy, but in recent

:03:25.:03:31.

years the home nation has lost its stranglehold on the strife. Over

:03:31.:03:41.
:03:41.:03:41.

the last five years, Kitzbuehel has won -- has surrendered to the Swiss

:03:41.:03:51.
:03:51.:03:51.

reigniting an age-old conflict. was skiing in the 1960s, and to

:03:51.:03:59.

beat the Swiss skier, it is always funny. Her how much does it mean to

:03:59.:04:07.

have that victory? In it means a lot, it is Austria, the concurrence

:04:07.:04:12.

between Switzerland and Austria so it is a fantastic race. To rub salt

:04:12.:04:18.

even deeper into the Austrian wound, Didier Cuche surpassed the record

:04:18.:04:24.

last year securing a staggering fifth victory. Didier Cuche leads

:04:24.:04:31.

the way, the record has gone. means a lot, the name Franz Klammer,

:04:31.:04:41.
:04:41.:04:41.

and I was proud to equal his record. Passing him was just amazing.

:04:41.:04:48.

Didier Cuche, now retired, will end his own reign and there seems to be

:04:48.:04:53.

no serious Swiss successor much to the relief of the Kitzbuehel crowd.

:04:53.:04:58.

Swiss domination has been hard to stomach for the home fans. They

:04:58.:05:03.

have enjoyed a seven-year downhill drought. Austria is thirsty for

:05:03.:05:13.
:05:13.:05:15.

success. In the newspapers you can read this year 2006 because

:05:15.:05:19.

everybody is writing about when will be the next win and we're

:05:20.:05:23.

waiting. The to his kind of the same pressure we have in

:05:23.:05:27.

Switzerland and it is never easy to manage that, especially when you

:05:28.:05:33.

have 40,000 people pushing you, demanding you win the race and the

:05:33.:05:38.

pressure is never easy to manage. The media builds up the pressure

:05:38.:05:42.

and the rivalry between Switzerland and Austria, but I think everybody

:05:42.:05:49.

would be happy if Austria can finally win again. Is it time to

:05:49.:05:54.

scratch the seven-year itch? think so, for sure it is time. It

:05:54.:06:01.

is a very long time and the last five years the Swiss guys have won.

:06:01.:06:10.

Today we try to change this. big question this week is calmly

:06:10.:06:18.

Austrians put some one on top of the podium? They have two big star

:06:18.:06:28.
:06:28.:06:29.

names who can do it. Where are the threats coming from? They are best

:06:29.:06:36.

skier in the world, Aksel Lund Svindal, and don't rule out Johan

:06:36.:06:43.

Clarey and Christophe Innerhofer. Johan Clarey has just beaten the

:06:44.:06:48.

speed record, on a wave of confidence. What role does

:06:48.:06:54.

confidence play? One is you get it, you are on an upward spiral.

:06:54.:07:01.

Confidence breeds success and that is working for the now. By that

:07:01.:07:05.

Russia now, Aksel Lund Svindal is on a downward spiral after crashing.

:07:05.:07:10.

He made a point of winning the first two training runs and that

:07:10.:07:14.

has boosted his confidence. didn't get them in the Rye Tour de

:07:14.:07:20.

but you picked the top three last week. He was it this week? Aksel

:07:20.:07:27.

Lund Svindal in first, Hannes Reichelt in second, and Klaus

:07:27.:07:31.

Kroell in third. They imagine standing on top of the strife and

:07:31.:07:35.

careering down the hill at breakneck speed. Luckily, you don't

:07:35.:07:40.

have to do it because Graham is going to do it for you. This has to

:07:40.:07:44.

be the most terrifying camera run in the world of sport.

:07:44.:07:51.

This is the big one, the toughest course in the world. If you win the

:07:52.:07:56.

championships, you become a champion, if you win in Kitzbuehel

:07:56.:08:06.
:08:06.:08:12.

the air, then through the compression. You are looking to

:08:12.:08:22.
:08:22.:08:26.

stay as high as possible. Then fighting to get back to the gate.

:08:26.:08:34.

You have just got to stay out of this net. Made it! OK, this flat

:08:34.:08:44.
:08:44.:08:45.

section lets you catch your breath, then you go to the part where it

:08:45.:08:55.
:08:55.:08:59.

gets bumpy. Over the jump. Then through the best shape here. There

:08:59.:09:09.
:09:09.:09:09.

is a lot of terrain, you really have to work the skis. -- the S

:09:09.:09:19.
:09:19.:09:22.

shape. Get the energy back into your legs. We are approaching this

:09:22.:09:28.

section where we have to get the line just right. You come out of

:09:28.:09:35.

the fence into the compression, hard to the left. The skis just

:09:35.:09:41.

bouncing around. That was a very low lying. I would not have been

:09:41.:09:47.

faster in the race. Luckily I am not raising any more. Over the last

:09:47.:09:57.
:09:57.:10:06.

jump. My legs are burning, and I tell you what, that might be only

:10:06.:10:13.

90 mph but it feels a whole lot faster. Skiing is very relative.

:10:13.:10:20.

it as evil and dangerous as ever? would say so, yes. There are some

:10:20.:10:27.

serious bumps. As you come across the finishing traverse, my line was

:10:27.:10:32.

very low and I would not have been fast in the race. Now it is time

:10:32.:10:37.

for the best races to take on the most difficult and dangerous

:10:37.:10:40.

downhill in the world. Matt Chilton downhill in the world. Matt Chilton

:10:40.:10:44.

has the commentary. It is the winter a theatre of dreams, where

:10:45.:10:54.

legends are created. The strife course on the Hahnenkamm mountain.

:10:54.:11:04.
:11:04.:11:04.

Thousands have congregated. Max Franz is a way for Austria. He

:11:04.:11:09.

suffered a crash early in the season. A good solid landing, into

:11:09.:11:19.
:11:19.:11:23.

the carousel turn. Gliding down towards this legendary section,

:11:23.:11:31.

wanting to keep clear of the netting at the side of the course.

:11:31.:11:41.
:11:41.:11:49.

Just off the pace of Streitberger. The next major element is the big

:11:49.:11:55.

jump. Max Franz flies again. Lovely landing, picking his line as he

:11:55.:12:05.
:12:05.:12:06.

hits the big bumpy traverse. Nice and high. 13 hundredth of a second

:12:06.:12:14.

behind at the last intermediate. 141.3 through the gun, and the lead

:12:14.:12:18.

in Kitzbuehel. Max Franz absolutely nailed the

:12:18.:12:23.

bottom part of the course, carrying the speed on to the traverse, and

:12:23.:12:30.

he was able to dive down at 141 kilometres per hour. That gave him

:12:30.:12:37.

the speed at the finish. Race face on today for Kjetil

:12:37.:12:47.
:12:47.:12:55.

Jansrud. He means business as he the carousel. He has the top

:12:55.:13:03.

section dialled in so far. Now, the line here could be crucial for the

:13:03.:13:08.

Norwegian. He is the Norwegian number two with Aksel Lund Svindal,

:13:08.:13:18.
:13:18.:13:25.

who was quickest in training, still to come. It is green all the way.

:13:25.:13:31.

He is still narrowly in front, 500 is of the second. On to the

:13:31.:13:41.

traverse, getting blown around. Final jump. A bit clumsy in flight.

:13:41.:13:51.

Has he done enough to lead? Not quite. Jansrud has come second.

:13:51.:13:56.

That gave the ground a bit of a scare. He was very fast on the top

:13:56.:14:01.

of the course, lost some speed in the middle, and didn't quite have

:14:01.:14:11.
:14:11.:14:15.

the same speed as Max Franz down to gate. He has a lot of experience on

:14:15.:14:24.

this particular course. Smooth and long, and a soft, controlled

:14:24.:14:32.

landing. Up by quite a long way, 11 hundredth. Just a little low on the

:14:32.:14:39.

line as he comes into this turn. Peter Fill might have just lost his

:14:39.:14:49.

edge. My word, he has lost it completely. He is on his belly as

:14:49.:14:56.

he comes to a stop. He hit the netting hard, cartwheeling through.

:14:56.:15:06.
:15:06.:15:20.

are to Peter Fill's skis. That's a Austria. The best chance,

:15:20.:15:29.

potentially, for the host nation today. That was lovely on the

:15:29.:15:39.
:15:39.:15:40.

Mausefalle. The Karusell, slightly lower than he might have liked.

:15:40.:15:47.

Into the Steilhang. Nice control. Peter Fill got it all wrong - it's

:15:47.:15:56.

well negotiated for Klaus Kroell. Very close inteed all the way

:15:56.:16:01.

through for Klaus Kroell -- indeed all the way through for Klaus

:16:01.:16:06.

Kroell. Max Franz still leads here. For

:16:06.:16:14.

Austria they might be on for a one, two. Nice and gentle and soft on

:16:14.:16:22.

the edges. Wonderful control - even at high speed. 1.37.39 for Franz.

:16:22.:16:27.

Klaus Kroell is as close as he could be. Now he hits this bumpy

:16:27.:16:34.

traverse. Off the little jump there, rolls it

:16:34.:16:41.

through, tucks in, one more to come for Kroell.

:16:41.:16:48.

He's second. Oh, my word! Relief for Max Franz.

:16:48.:16:52.

So second place for Klaus Kroell. That's the Austrians in one and two

:16:52.:16:59.

so far. Kroell, to me, looked a little bit passive on top of the

:16:59.:17:04.

course. Then down the finishes, he had the same height and speed, but

:17:04.:17:14.
:17:14.:17:21.

didn't have quite the same attack. Wengen. He broke the World Cup

:17:21.:17:25.

speed record. Can he be an ace on this maverick course and take our

:17:25.:17:31.

breath away? Johan Clarey, of France, in the

:17:31.:17:41.
:17:41.:18:05.

across the snow. from danger, as he heads into the

:18:05.:18:15.

forest and getting faster all the time. Green all the way for the

:18:15.:18:23.

Frenchman. Five green lights in Kitzbuehel for Johan Clarey. He

:18:24.:18:28.

approaches the Hausberg. Oh, he's winding down the windows! Makes a

:18:28.:18:36.

decent landing. He has one-third of a second, surely. He's on to his --

:18:36.:18:42.

his way to the netting. Big crash for Johan Clarey. I think he's OK.

:18:42.:18:49.

He's fine. So, another crash. This time Johan

:18:49.:18:52.

Clarey crashing probably the scariest part of the course. He

:18:52.:18:57.

took huge air as he went off the Hausberg. Made that turn well. He

:18:57.:19:03.

was ahead as he crashed and just lent on the insides. Very, very

:19:03.:19:13.
:19:13.:19:21.

consistent down hill racer of the season. He was very, very swift in

:19:21.:19:26.

training earlier in the week. Perfect conditions today. Can

:19:26.:19:36.
:19:36.:19:36.

Svindal turn that training speed into a race win on the Hahnenkamm?

:19:37.:19:46.
:19:47.:19:47.

Now, through the Steilhang, time for our leader's 33.6 and Svindal

:19:47.:19:57.
:19:57.:20:15.

It would take a miracle for Aksel Lund Svindal to claw back that time.

:20:15.:20:22.

A solid jump. Very, very close to the netting. He's low on the

:20:22.:20:29.

traverse, into the shadow - it's dark down there and clips that

:20:29.:20:35.

control gate, which sends him on to the Zielschuss. I don't think it

:20:35.:20:44.

will happen for him. Sind sind is only fifth. -- Svindal is only

:20:44.:20:54.
:20:54.:20:58.

Picked up a little bit of speed in the mid-part of the course. Didn't

:20:58.:21:08.
:21:08.:21:26.

have the speed towards the finish. the high-speed courses. Likes it

:21:26.:21:35.

when it's bumpy and icy. He's sucking it all in today in the

:21:35.:21:45.
:21:45.:21:52.

early stages on the Streif. Paris, joint winner of a downhill.

:21:52.:21:56.

A massive jump from Paris. He is travelling in Kitzbuehel. It has

:21:56.:22:06.
:22:06.:22:07.

gone from red to green and getting better all the time for the Italian.

:22:07.:22:13.

Dominik Paris is 1600ths of a second faster. Really good gliding

:22:13.:22:23.
:22:23.:22:26.

across the snow. He's still in front of Franz. Most of the crowd

:22:26.:22:30.

are hoping that Paris will be slower, but he's getting faster and

:22:30.:22:35.

faster. Now he's on the traverse. Won terful stuff from Paris --

:22:35.:22:42.

wonderful stuff from Paris. He's way ahead. Skiing for the lead in

:22:42.:22:48.

Kitzbuehel. Dominik Paris, of Italy, has first position by a massive

:22:48.:22:53.

margin. What a run! If you were watching last week the

:22:53.:22:59.

Wengen show, the piece we did on the two young Rockies, Max Franz

:22:59.:23:04.

and Dominik Paris and they are number one and two on the podiums

:23:04.:23:10.

so far. Brilliant skiing from Paris. Good on top of the course. He had

:23:10.:23:15.

the height and speed. He's getting a really good round of applause

:23:15.:23:24.

here in the finish. Erik Guay is ready to race. In preparation of

:23:24.:23:28.

next month's World Championships, he spent the summer perfecting his

On the Mausefalle - a wonderful jump. He switched on the green

:25:06.:25:11.

higher. He's worked harder to get there. Dominik Paris has carved a

:25:11.:25:15.

cleaner turn and is carrying more speed. He's low, but he's just

:25:15.:25:21.

about getting away with it. He has to clatter the final gate. He

Reichelt has turned it around. A place on the podium for a second

year running in Wengen shows he's for the host nation, Austria.

:25:53.:25:58.

Winning here would make him a national heroin stapbtly. He shared

:26:19.:26:26.

line. Off into the forest in excellent shape. 0.37 in front.

:26:27.:26:33.

It's been green all the way for Hannes Reichelt.

:26:33.:26:37.

He needs to be ahead and he is still. This looks really good for

:26:37.:26:44.

Reichelt. Oh, and then he clips that and he lifted his ski and that

:26:44.:26:51.

would have slowed him down a fraction. A shaky moment for

:26:51.:26:58.

Reichelt on the approach to the Hausberg.

:26:58.:27:04.

On to the traverse. Oh, that might not be quite high enough. He's

:27:04.:27:10.

dangerously low. Takes a shaky line as he tucks in for the finish. They

:27:10.:27:16.

are holding their breath in Kitzbuehel as Reichelt goes for

:27:16.:27:21.

third only. Oh, my word! That was close.

:27:21.:27:26.

It goes to show how educated this crowd is. As soon as Hannes

:27:26.:27:29.

Reichelt dropped low on that traverse, there was a big grown,

:27:29.:27:39.

because they knew he would not be carrying the speed. He skied the

:27:39.:27:44.

top perfectly. Did well to absorb and avoid those bumps after the

:27:44.:27:49.

Mausefalle. Just that one mistake coming on to the final traverse is

:27:49.:27:59.
:27:59.:28:20.

He comes off the back in Wengen Sporn is faster through the first

:28:20.:28:28.

second by 700ths of a second. Good work! Skiing with real confidence

:28:28.:28:31.

after he went so well on the longest of the downhill courses in

:28:32.:28:37.

Wengen a week ago. Now he's dealing the toughest and going nicely. It's

:28:38.:28:47.
:28:48.:28:57.

drifting into the red zone, but he can pull this back. Putting his

:28:57.:29:02.

hands forward, trying to cut through the air as aerodynamicly as

:29:02.:29:10.

possible as he sets up and chooses his line to the Hausberg. He's back

:29:10.:29:17.

in front by 100ths of a second. The line on the traverse is high. Sporn

:29:17.:29:26.

:30:00.:30:05.

to flap to keep his balance, and he is certainly giving it everything.

:30:05.:30:15.
:30:15.:30:17.

A little brute of a man. He is so strong. How is his line here? Good

:30:17.:30:27.
:30:27.:30:27.

- nice and high. He has been in and out of the greens are known, into

:30:27.:30:32.

the red now though. This is a chance for him to make up a few

:30:32.:30:42.
:30:42.:30:49.

places and possibly score himself a top five position in Kitzbuehel. He

:30:49.:30:59.

might be the best Frenchman on the day. 139.9 through the gun, a fine

:30:59.:31:06.

run from the Frenchman. And nothing fishy about his

:31:06.:31:09.

performance on the lower part of the course, able to carry a good

:31:09.:31:15.

line on to the Bombie traverse, a good speed on to the finish. It

:31:15.:31:19.

just shows it is still possible to ski from a high number.

:31:19.:31:26.

Star eating in 46, there was no advantage for Christof Innerhofer.

:31:26.:31:31.

Despite an aggressive top section, he lost speed on the gliding part

:31:31.:31:37.

of the course and couldn't make up the time, eventually finishing in

:31:37.:31:47.
:31:47.:31:59.

I have no words for the feeling. It is amazing, incredible. I can't

:31:59.:32:09.

believe it. I tried my best and I saw the number one and it was

:32:09.:32:14.

unbelievable. Still no Austrian winner.

:32:14.:32:20.

What a classic race, Kitzbuehel served a top again. Christophe

:32:20.:32:28.

Innerhofer won last week, and Paris here in Kitzbuehel. These guys do

:32:28.:32:32.

speak Austrian so there is a certain amount of acceptance here

:32:32.:32:36.

but the drought continues for the Austrian downhill team.

:32:36.:32:41.

Now we are travelling across the Atlantic to one of the spiritual

:32:41.:32:47.

birthplaces of snowboarding - Tahoe in California, where I went to meet

:32:47.:32:57.
:32:57.:33:01.

one of my heroes. Are you guys about ready? I have my snowboard on

:33:01.:33:10.

now. Where and I am riding, it is like time slows down. It keeps me

:33:10.:33:20.
:33:20.:33:24.

alive and it also lets me live. one would recognise Tom Burt in the

:33:24.:33:29.

street and he does not court fame, but in the world of snowboarding he

:33:29.:33:35.

is a legend. To me, growing up he was an absolute hero and I used to

:33:35.:33:39.

pore over the videos he put together. Over the last three

:33:39.:33:43.

decades of cementing his position as one of the most important

:33:43.:33:50.

snowboarders of all time. When you grow up in the mountains, you live

:33:50.:33:55.

that lifestyle. You get kicked out of the house to go outside so we

:33:56.:34:00.

were hiking, skiing when we were young. The ended you first come

:34:01.:34:07.

across snowboarding? In about seventh grade, 1976, although I

:34:07.:34:17.
:34:17.:34:19.

didn't try it until 1992. I hiked up the hill, started to lean back

:34:19.:34:28.

and realised I had to lean forward. Where does a Lasker fit into that

:34:28.:34:35.

picture? Were your eyes bulging out the potential? So many mountains,

:34:35.:34:39.

just wide-eyed because you are like that would be fully and that would

:34:39.:34:49.
:34:49.:35:00.

be funny. -- fun. We started doing first decents off the get go.

:35:00.:35:04.

has done things that not a lot of people have dared to do since done

:35:04.:35:12.

that was a long time ago. Just his outrageous lines, death-defying.

:35:13.:35:22.
:35:23.:35:23.

has the eye for getting down the mountain in the most difficult way,

:35:23.:35:27.

of the path of most resistance. What's is probably the trademark of

:35:27.:35:33.

his Roms is the exposure, the amount of risk on the slope.

:35:33.:35:37.

Glaciers, the mini avalanche you create on a steep slope every time

:35:37.:35:43.

you turn and a lot of his biggest runs were so exposed it is called a

:35:43.:35:53.
:35:53.:35:54.

no-fall run. If you fall, there is no question - you will die.

:35:54.:35:58.

thought it was possible maybe. There were crevasses all over the

:35:58.:36:04.

place at the bottom and I don't know how long it was, but probably

:36:04.:36:09.

close to a 5000 ft descent. If anything went wrong on the upper

:36:09.:36:14.

third, you are pretty much guaranteed to die. I looked at it,

:36:14.:36:19.

didn't like the conditions, to picture on my Polaroid, thought

:36:19.:36:23.

about it for several days, went back and thought it was not as bad

:36:23.:36:31.

as I thought it might be. We are doing it right now. Three, two,

:36:31.:36:41.
:36:41.:36:47.

one... He has gone. Looking good. felt pretty psyched out by the

:36:47.:36:57.
:36:57.:36:57.

ice... I made my way down the mountain pretty fast. Everything

:36:57.:37:04.

went good. Still to this day, I don't think anybody has ridden that

:37:04.:37:09.

line. For that not to be re created in this length of time, that says a

:37:09.:37:19.
:37:19.:37:23.

lot. Looking back, what motivated you to take that on? It looked fun,

:37:23.:37:27.

it looked do wobble. A back in the day, there was some pretty fierce

:37:27.:37:37.
:37:37.:37:38.

cadence. Tom had more of a sustainable riding approach which I

:37:38.:37:42.

think helped trickle-down and probably saved a lot of lives. He

:37:42.:37:45.

has probably been doing it for 30 years and there is something to be

:37:46.:37:51.

said for that. Testament. I have never been afraid to back off from

:37:51.:37:57.

anything. If you don't feel good about it, come back the next week.

:37:57.:38:02.

I have climbed a lot of big mountains so I was very well versed

:38:02.:38:09.

and everyone followed me around. No one would go there unless we went

:38:09.:38:14.

there and check it out and we basically started guiding from day

:38:14.:38:19.

one in Alaska and continue to do that today. If his entire career

:38:19.:38:24.

has been built on a bedrock of incredible mountain knowledge. His

:38:24.:38:28.

understanding of terrain, glaciers, snowpack is what allowed him to do

:38:29.:38:33.

those ridiculous slopes in the first place, but these days he is

:38:33.:38:38.

teaching not only Professional snowboarders but also the guides,

:38:38.:38:42.

and anyone you speak to in Alaska will tell you his wealth of

:38:42.:38:45.

knowledge is probably the most voluble commodity when it comes to

:38:45.:38:55.
:38:55.:38:55.

riding such big mountains. I have been with a lot of people for their

:38:56.:39:05.
:39:06.:39:11.

first ride. The to such another level when your guide is giving you

:39:11.:39:21.
:39:21.:39:21.

(BLEEP) for not riding something. He stands on the lines and says you

:39:21.:39:28.

can go down here. I'm like it you think so, I got it. He approves of

:39:28.:39:38.
:39:38.:39:38.

my riding, that is a lot to me. Obviously he is one of my idols.

:39:38.:39:42.

Snowboarding, like any creative pursuit, is incredibly fickle when

:39:42.:39:50.

it comes to fashions. Tricks come and go. Throughout the phases and

:39:50.:39:54.

fashions, Tom Burt has stayed true to his big mountain ideals and at

:39:54.:39:59.

times that was extremely unfashionable. During the big 1990s

:40:00.:40:04.

when it was about freestyle on kickers, I was teased mercilessly

:40:04.:40:09.

by my friends for watching his videos but now he has had the last

:40:09.:40:13.

laugh. When you go back and watch the videos, the tricks you see the

:40:13.:40:20.

other riders doing look basic compared to today's standards. But

:40:20.:40:30.
:40:30.:40:34.

when you watch Tom's sections, his tricks have stood the test of time.

:40:34.:40:44.

In all the movies I did, there is one repeat shot of one line, a

:40:44.:40:50.

credit roll repeat. Of every line in every film you have ever been in,

:40:50.:40:55.

they are all fresh? You have never repeated another line? No, I

:40:55.:41:01.

haven't. He may be one of the oldest guys on the hill, but he is

:41:01.:41:06.

still quiet and humble and takes pleasure from the simple things.

:41:06.:41:09.

could have continued to film but I chose to have family and hang out

:41:09.:41:19.
:41:19.:41:25.

with my kids. I ride hard when I ride and it is really fun. In

:41:25.:41:30.

snowboarding you had racing, pipe competitions, how big the X Games

:41:30.:41:40.
:41:40.:41:42.

is and the Olympics, and you add everything else in some there.

:41:42.:41:48.

this series we have been looking at some of Britain's newest stars of

:41:48.:41:54.

winter sports. Those men and women will be hunting for gold in Sochi

:41:54.:42:04.

next year. My name is Ben Kilner, and I have

:42:04.:42:09.

been snowboarding now for 14 years. I am getting on a bit. It started

:42:09.:42:14.

with some snowboarding lessons, and it just went on, and I got here

:42:14.:42:21.

where I am today. Half pipe is a U- shaped ditch. We tend to get about

:42:21.:42:25.

six hits. You want to get everything perfect. When you have

:42:25.:42:30.

managed to stay on your feet at the bottom of the half pipe, it is a

:42:30.:42:35.

brilliant feeling. You get the same on slope style if you stay on your

:42:35.:42:43.

feet. Sochi will be my second Olympics, so I can concentrate

:42:43.:42:51.

fully on my run. I have taken in the experience and now I can give

:42:51.:42:55.

it 100%. News from the women's tour - a

:42:55.:43:05.
:43:05.:43:08.

Lynsey von won on her home snow. In Aspen Colorado, one of our medal

:43:08.:43:12.

hopefuls James Woods has qualified first in the skiing slope style.

:43:12.:43:18.

His final is coming up in a few hours so we wish him the best. In

:43:18.:43:26.

Alpine, Robert Potts scored a rare victory in the under 16s category

:43:26.:43:33.

in the Czech Republic. If you press your red button, you can get the

:43:33.:43:39.

highlights of the men's slalom from Kitzbuehel. Next week, we are

:43:39.:43:43.
