Good evening. It has been an exciting day of

Good evening. It has been an at the Welsh Open. We have had it

all. Welshman, will champions and former winners. But tonight, no

doubt about the star attraction. Judd Trump's technique is absolutely

superb. All left-handed players appear to get through the ball a lot

better than other players. He plays shots on the super table that only

Jimmy White can play. He tends to throw the old cue at it and that is

a lot down to temperament and that is something Judd Trump, if he works

hard enough, we'll get him back to being world number one again. I

sometimes think he goes for that shock to many. He is a

crowd-pleaser. You have got to forget about the crowd. I am all in

favour of being entertaining snooker but don't push that boundary to put

-- too far. There has always been that question about dedication. We

know he likes fast cars and going out late at night. But to win the

top tournaments, his dedication has got to be a little better. He plays

some of the most fantastic shots. One of the greatest potters I have

ever seen in the game. But sometimes his shot selection leaves a bit to

be desired. He could have been world champion in 2011. He took time over

a blue and for me took the wrong shot in the end. John Higgins when

the frame. Judd Trump would have gone for frames ahead and I think he

would have been world champion. It could be down to shot selection, he

may go for that one shot too many. I think he needs to play a bit better

safety. That will create the chances. And if he does get the

chances, we know how good he is, and his record will improve.

His opponent tonight was Jamie Burnett. Judd Trump got off to a

good start, winning the first two frames. We are going to join it in

frame three. The reds are going to go everywhere.

You have got to say that was a bit of a lunatic shot. As we have just

said, this is the way he plays and that is why he is exciting. But that

was never the shot. He obviously fancied it. If it had

gone in, we would be saying, what a great shot that was, opening the

reds out. That is one of the good things about

the game. Everybody has got their own shot selection. Some players

push the boat out a bit more than others. One of the beauties of the

game. You stand and fall by what you decide.

Jamie Burnett has got the chance now. A very thin cut, he took on

there. He has got to do something here

otherwise Trump will be all over him Mike Ross. He missed that pink to

otherwise Trump will be all over him win the first frame. Since then he

has not had much opportunity. He has lost the cue ball there. He

will be very disappointed with that last shot. You still expect him to

pot the black but he is going to can then into a couple of these reds.

He has done but he is still in a nice position so his break marches

on. This is imperative for Jamie Burnett to try and make this effort

moved all of them. Yes, like you said, you have got to do what you

feel when you are out there but he took total control in this match and

all of a sudden he has handed a lifeline back to Jamie Burnett. If

it had gone in, it would have looked fantastic, but it was a crazy shot.

Now he is sat in his chair and he has got to wait.

It is getting to the stage now where he is thinking, I had better make

sure of this. Vital not to do that really but it is just in our nature

to do it. A few good positional shots now and

he will be home and dry in this frame. Keep the cue ball under

control, take the pressure off him. The black goes in. To snooker is

required now if Judd Trump was to get back to the table.

Even if he was to miss now, Judd Trump will stay sat in his chair.

This has been a good effort from Jamie Burnett. The match was totally

getting away from him. He would not have expected the chance he was

given. Nevertheless, he has taken it. No century. A terrific break

given. Nevertheless, he has taken 80 do to that crazy shot on the red

into the left corner. He now cuts his deficit.

eyes to play those. 94% success for Judd Trump.

He did not want to give a free ball. It is all happening. Yes, he has got

a free shot. He is going to go for this brown in the left centre

knowing that if he misses it, he will still leave Jamie Burnett in a

snooker. Well, he did not get the brown but

he got the second prize. That is his fourth chance in this frame, Judd

Trump, and he will be a little disappointed at the moment. He is

not getting another chance here because that has gone safe. You can

never be certain of weary red goes when you are playing

you are actually aiming to miss the red to edit. -- two hit it. If you

look at the tip of the cue, it is pointing the other side of the red.

Is there a warning here? He is warning him now. He has got to hit

the red this time or he is losing the frame. That only occurs if you

can see the ball for long. He can't be playing the same shot again,

surely. Let's say, he made sure he hit it.

And as it turned out, he has got a very good result out of it. Jamie

Burnett, from being 44 points in front and in the balls, is now level

at 45-45. I am not sure if Judd Trump can pot this and get on a

colour. No value. A good safety shot.

He's not going to argue about that one. He is still face now with a

difficult shot. If that you bought had travelled a little bit further

up the table, he would have had an easy brown. I don't think he is

circumstances. He queued that lovely. He made that green look

really easy as well. Obviously, Jamie Burnett would have

thought he was going to level this matchup, and now that blue has gone

in and that cue ball is coming down on the pink, he is going to go in

three frames behind. He will be very disappointed. Two frames have got

away from him which he probably should have won. Judd Trump will be

quite happy. Trump extending his lead after that

the other red on. That's nicely played. Side spin to

hold for the blue. In a great position now.

Again, he's cued it very, very well. Still a lot of work to do with that

cue ball. Could have done with that cue ball slowing down. This will

take a good shot. I don't know whether he can miss the cannon on

the brown. If he does miss the cannon on the brown, coming off the

two cushions he will come on the yellow.

If he gets on the last red, the brown is the ball, I suppose. What

an awkward pot that is. What a big shot. If that brown was on-the-spot

goes through winning four frames to one. He should have won. He had a

good chance at the start. I nickeded it off him. I thought after that I

would enough to get over the line. I had a bit of bad run in the last

frame. I had a bad kick when I was clearing up. Other than that, I felt

good. I felt comfortable. Mark Selby has a special affection for the

Welsh Open. This is where he won his first ranking title. Today, his

second round opponent was experienced pro Dave Harold,

currently ranked 53 in the world. It was a slow start to the match with

Selby taking a 2-1 lead. Frame four was something special. We join it

now with Harold building a decent break.

COMMENTATOR: He is probably going to need the yellow in addition to

winning the frame in this visit. . It mitt it -- it's not quite all

done and dusted yet in this fourth frame.

I think he has already looked at the score board to realise that a pink

off the last red will leave Mark needing snookers. The yellow's not

in an easy position. He played that the best. At least he can get onto

the pink from here. He would have liked it a little bit straighter

than this. That's one of the reasons why I

thought he might take the pink off that last red, rather than the blue.

27 points on. Can he see any side of this yellow?

Not without any side. He can't avoid the kiss on the black if he plays

that yellow. If he sees as much as he can hit he will cannon into the

black with the cue ball. He may try and swerve it a little bit.

Unlike David to play such a careless safety shot. You can forgive him for

not getting the good cue ball, object ball, shouldn't have been

anywhere near that corner pocket. It's given Mark a chance to pot

these six and force a respot. If you had to pick one or two

players to clear up under a pressure situation, Mark Selby would

definitely be in that two. He does it time and time again. He's

going to have to pot another black after this one because it's going to

be a respot. Excellent clearance of the colours

so far, but it's still not over yet. Mark Selby makes that 27 break to

tie the scores at 59-59. Mark Selby won the toss and put

David in to bet. Dave has pushed it there and played it pretty well.

Yesterday evening I was practicing respotted blacks with Dave in the

practice room. A little best of nine. I wonder if this will stand

him in good stead. Did he win the best of nice or lose? He hammered

me. Absolute bandit, Willie, honestly. Might stand him in good

stead then. One of those where Mark might decide

to play cushion first here and leave the white where the black is, the

angle of the black will hit the cushion before the middle pocket. If

he gets the weight right, he should get the black safe. That's what he's

looking at. Definitely the shot for me this. If you get too much side on

it, you come into the right off the black, sometimes you can in go off

if you catch too much of the black. Perfect to play that shot. It really

was. As long as you got the weight right, you were bound to get a good

black. This is just about the worse position to play safe from. You

could play this ten times and leave it on ten times because, unless you

get the black tight on the cushion, you're bound to leave some sort of

shot. Yeah, I think here he has to put his

trust in the table. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Well done. Well done. For a second I thought he did it a

fraction too hard. Does this cut? I don't think so, at first glance. A

matter-of-fact, I'm sure it doesn't cut.

He's just looking to see if he can cross double it. He could play a

thin safety, leave a cue ball towards the far left corner. Oh,

he's just used the pocket and put the black on the baulk cushion. The

black needs to stop. It's cuttable. This is a chance for Mark.

Takes a little bit of pressure off this shot knowing that Mark is bound

to get a good white. Well, what a frame of snooker. Dave

Harold will be horrified he lost that game. Mark Mark leads 3-1. For

that point on Selby didn't look back. He took the fifth frame as

well for a 4-1 victory. Here are some of the other winners today.

Defending Champion, Stephen Maguire, squeezed into round three with a 4-3

victory over Englishman Sam Baird. He came back from 3-1 down to keep

the defence of his title alive. Too close for comfort. I think Sam lost

it more than what I won it there. He was 3-1 up. To be honest, he had the

balls perfect when when he was 40... 48 up. He missed a pa bad pink in

the middle that changed the whole game really. Matthew Stevens

progressed with a 4-2 ribth victory over Ian Burns. The 2003 UK Champion

will play Joe Perry in the last 32. Fantastic. It's a shame I haven't

really produced my best snooker here over the years. I keep trying,

hopefully I can kick on this week and get to the latter stages. Also

through, fellow Welshman Dominic Dale, the shoot-out champ game

through an entertaining clash with Dechawat Poomjaeng with a 4-1

victory this morning. He will play Mark Selby in the last 32. In the

other matches: John Higgins beat Ken Doherty 4-0.

Andrew Pagett is through, 4-3 against Gerard Greene. A good day

for the homegrown players with the odd exception. The big beast of

Welsh snooker is in action tomorrow. You can see Mark Williams match
