Good evening and welcome to the Newport centre. Ding Junhui looking

:01:02.:01:08.

to retain his crown. His quarter- final match coming up for you later.

:01:08.:01:13.

We've had a terrific day of snooker at the Welsh open and we've seen a

:01:13.:01:17.

little piece of history being made with the first Indian to reach and

:01:17.:01:23.

a ranking quarter-final. It's been a fascinating journey so far. I've

:01:23.:01:26.

taken it day by day. I was very passionate about it when I started

:01:26.:01:36.
:01:36.:01:38.

playing. At 16, I thought I could make it my career. By won

:01:38.:01:42.

championships in 2005 and 2008. It has been billiards for me for the

:01:42.:01:48.

last decade. It is my first love. It is my identity. I will still be

:01:48.:01:52.

known as a billiards player irrespective of how I do in snooker

:01:52.:01:58.

for the next few months or years. There is a lot for me here at

:01:58.:02:02.

billiards, but I want to try my hand at snooker. It is different in

:02:02.:02:06.

terms of techniques and the way you approach the game because snooker

:02:06.:02:11.

is more accuracy and precision where is billiards is more of

:02:11.:02:15.

stamina and patience. Now that I am playing snooker in the UK, I feel I

:02:15.:02:21.

am part of the circuit and I feel that I am responsible for my

:02:21.:02:24.

country and as a professional to perform to the highest possible

:02:24.:02:29.

level and I am so glad I am able to produce my best snooker now. I

:02:30.:02:34.

wouldn't say it's the most popular sport in India. There is cricket,

:02:34.:02:40.

as you know, tennis, golf. We still have a long way to go in terms of

:02:40.:02:44.

educating the public and making them more aware of the sport and

:02:44.:02:47.

its nuances. I am happy things are improving and before you know it,

:02:47.:02:54.

we might have it ranked snooker event. To be the first Indian to

:02:54.:02:58.

make it to the quarter-finals of a ranked event, it has been great and

:02:58.:03:02.

I am enjoying every moment of this journey. It's such a huge thing for

:03:02.:03:07.

me personally because there is such a lot of hard work that goes behind

:03:07.:03:11.

it which not many people know the sacrifices that you make when you

:03:11.:03:14.

stay away from family. All these things make the journey worth it.

:03:14.:03:20.

And it means a lot to me that I've got to the stage where I have.

:03:20.:03:25.

the biggest match of the Indian's short career having disposed of

:03:25.:03:30.

three former world champions en route, could he win the meeting

:03:30.:03:40.
:03:40.:03:45.

Known for his and long potting, the juggernaut has been improving. The

:03:45.:03:48.

combination of pressure and bad luck mean that -- meant that Advani

:03:48.:03:58.
:03:58.:04:06.

The pots kept dropping and Trump was intent on putting his opponent

:04:06.:04:13.

at the sword. The left-hander from Bristol four frames to the good in

:04:13.:04:17.

just over an hour, one for him from defeat, the seven-times billiards

:04:17.:04:24.

world champion was snookered. But as Advani has shown all week, he

:04:24.:04:27.

has the temperament and ability to cope on the big stage and he

:04:27.:04:32.

finally got on the scoresheet, thanks to this adventurous if not

:04:32.:04:42.
:04:42.:04:57.

Judd Trump de rail temporarily. Advani pulled back another. It was

:04:57.:05:07.
:05:07.:05:07.

dealt the final black. -- down to the final black. That is where the

:05:07.:05:15.

comeback ended. Judd Trump booked his place in the last four claiming

:05:15.:05:25.
:05:25.:05:31.

victory, 5-2. Out, but the Indian certainly not a dull. -- not down.

:05:31.:05:36.

Today he did pick it up a few notches. I'd enjoyed myself totally

:05:36.:05:40.

in this event. Even if I lost in the quarter-finals, there is no

:05:40.:05:45.

shame because I pulled a couple of frames back after being 4-0 down. I

:05:45.:05:50.

had to come back as a stronger player. By safety was pretty good,

:05:50.:05:54.

long pot was good and they dominated the game. I still missed

:05:54.:05:58.

a few easy balls in the last couple of frames, but I'm going to cut

:05:58.:06:03.

that out. It has been a great adventure for Pencoed at Folly.

:06:03.:06:09.

Darren Morgan is my guest. -- Pankaj Advani. Indian newspapers

:06:09.:06:17.

have been talking about Advani this week. In the 90s, James Watt came

:06:17.:06:23.

along and exploded in Thailand. And Ding Junhui, and look at what has

:06:23.:06:27.

happened in China. It is fantastic India have found a player. He has,

:06:27.:06:33.

further East than any other Indian player. With a bit of luck, he will

:06:33.:06:42.

be back. Stuart Bingham and Ken Doherty. He came back from 3-2 down

:06:42.:06:49.

to see a place in the last four. -- to seal a place. Well done to

:06:49.:06:53.

Stuart Bingham. I had a chat with them a few moments ago. He says he

:06:53.:06:58.

is confident. He is the king of comeback. He'd done great and he

:06:58.:07:02.

got out of jail yesterday. Neil Robertson thought he was in the

:07:02.:07:06.

next round, but then Stuart Bingham was through. He didn't play as well

:07:06.:07:12.

today. If he wants to have any chance in the next round, he will

:07:12.:07:16.

have to play better. Stuart Bingham in the semi-final will play the

:07:16.:07:20.

winner of tonight's quarter-final match between Robert Milkins and

:07:20.:07:30.
:07:30.:07:35.

One of the greatest players we've got, particularly when you think

:07:35.:07:40.

about how much pressure is on him all the time from the media in the

:07:40.:07:46.

UK and certainly in China. A player that strides on trial to become

:07:46.:07:51.

better in every aspect of the game. His break building, cue action,

:07:51.:08:01.
:08:01.:08:03.

An introverted character but when he is out there playing a match, he

:08:03.:08:08.

is a fantastic technician, he hits the ball so well. He is a

:08:08.:08:11.

perfectionist in many ways and that gives you an idea of the level of

:08:11.:08:21.
:08:21.:08:24.

his own belief. He does know how His all-round game is really good.

:08:24.:08:29.

His attitude, it doesn't look as if he wants to be there. But when he

:08:29.:08:34.

wants to be there and he is on form, he is fantastic. I like him he is a

:08:34.:08:44.
:08:44.:08:47.

great player. Over the next couple He has won so many tournaments at

:08:47.:08:54.

such a young age, he has got a lot more to give.

:08:54.:08:58.

A terrific player, taking on Robert Milkins to send Mark Williams

:08:58.:09:02.

crashing. He has never become the Chinese star but could this be his

:09:02.:09:09.

night? We are picking up the action him frame to. Milkins to play,

:09:09.:09:19.
:09:19.:09:28.

Does he play the kiss on the red and black or for the two loose

:09:28.:09:35.

reds? He could play for the two loose ones. He has played the

:09:35.:09:45.
:09:45.:09:45.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:09:45.:10:48.

He will not be able to hold for the blackmail. That definitely left the

:10:48.:10:58.
:10:58.:11:00.

bed of the table. He will have to Robert would say himself that is a

:11:01.:11:10.
:11:11.:11:45.

He could have done with being a bit further away from the cushion. That

:11:45.:11:54.

wasn't an easy red. Yes, but he got down and hit that ball. He didn't

:11:54.:12:00.

take care over that shot. He's fortunate if he hasn't left

:12:00.:12:10.
:12:10.:12:11.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:12:11.:13:00.

And he just sniggered himself on the road he wanted to play for. --

:13:00.:13:10.
:13:10.:13:18.

Just enough room to get him between 3LO and the brown. -- the yellow.

:13:18.:13:28.
:13:28.:13:47.

That is a fantastically well judged shot. They're not often played that

:13:47.:13:57.
:13:57.:13:58.

well, I can hear you. -- I can tell His good judgment has paid

:13:58.:14:05.

dividends. He only needs 10. So unfortunately for Ding Junhui, he

:14:05.:14:15.
:14:15.:14:15.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:14:15.:15:03.

A very clever shot. The thing with him as he never gives away a chance

:15:03.:15:10.

to win the frame. A lot of players would not have played that shot. He

:15:10.:15:20.
:15:20.:15:31.

We have had a lot of kicks and this He still needs the last red to be

:15:31.:15:41.
:15:41.:15:49.

He would have played for the black but he is straight on it, so I

:15:49.:15:54.

wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't try to screw back to where he is

:15:54.:15:58.

now because then he would have a good natural angle to dislodge the

:15:58.:16:08.

:17:44.:17:53.

He has had chances in all of these frames. Barring snooker's, that

:17:53.:18:03.
:18:03.:18:13.

will be Ding Junhui taking the That is the best shot Robert

:18:13.:18:19.

Milkins has played this evening. Perfect judgement of pace. This

:18:19.:18:29.
:18:29.:19:08.

The blue is the problem here. He's going to have to play with loads of

:19:08.:19:18.
:19:18.:19:18.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:19:18.:20:26.

That kicked because he was playing that should put the frame beyond

:20:26.:20:36.
:20:36.:20:39.

Robert has been careless, he should leave the auditorium and give

:20:39.:20:43.

himself a good talking-to. He has been a player for many years but

:20:43.:20:47.

the last couple of years, he has not been able to string any results

:20:48.:20:57.
:20:58.:21:18.

Doesn't matter about the blue because Robert welcomed -- Robert

:21:18.:21:25.

Milkins remains in his chair. It is 2-0 to Ding Junhui. So he is

:21:25.:21:33.

looking like the reigning champion. Into frame three we go. There is no

:21:34.:21:43.
:21:44.:21:47.

Well, that's more like it from Robert Milkins, nice clean pot. He

:21:47.:21:57.

has had not had a good run on the That was a tough green. There was

:21:57.:22:06.

pressure on that. He knew he would be, next red. The green has

:22:06.:22:10.

cannoned the cluster of reds and opened more of them up. It is not

:22:10.:22:20.
:22:20.:22:50.

That has turned out well. The black available to both corners and the

:22:50.:23:00.
:23:00.:23:00.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:23:00.:24:01.

It was amazing how quickly that came off the cushion. He got

:24:01.:24:11.
:24:11.:24:13.

another foot of place. -- pace. That was incredible. I am often

:24:14.:24:17.

asked what causes that to happen but if you clean the cue ball, you

:24:17.:24:23.

will get a perfect balance every time. If you actually come out of a

:24:23.:24:27.

snooker and you miss and you are called for a miss and the referee

:24:27.:24:33.

replaces the cue ball, it is a point worth noting that if the

:24:33.:24:36.

referee cleans the cue ball, you will get a completely different

:24:36.:24:46.
:24:46.:25:20.

balance of the crucial next time. - Ominous signs in this third frame

:25:20.:25:30.
:25:30.:25:36.

This is when Ding Junhui is at his best normally. When he is in a box

:25:36.:25:46.
:25:46.:25:46.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:25:46.:26:47.

the reds. He has good tight control He had the angle to nudge a few

:26:47.:26:57.

reds. So, colour, red, colour, and Ding Junhui will be racing away to

:26:57.:27:07.
:27:07.:27:22.

a 3-0 lead. Robert Milkins has not He needs to play an attacking shot,

:27:22.:27:32.
:27:32.:27:34.

it is a different game these days. Now, he needs one more red. This is

:27:34.:27:38.

the green. I am not disputing he should have gone for it, but it was

:27:38.:27:48.
:27:48.:28:11.

It is wise to have the cue ball cleaned because you don't want to

:28:11.:28:21.
:28:21.:28:26.

Dead centre, look. The pressure is off Ding Junhui. Can he make a

:28:26.:28:36.
:28:36.:28:36.

Apology for the loss of subtitles for 63 seconds

:28:36.:29:36.

He just got into the cue ball too Been a professional, Ding Junhui,

:29:36.:29:46.
:29:46.:29:46.

since 2003, so tenures and he has amassed 280 career centuries. Well,

:29:46.:29:53.

this one will be 279. That is a good average, 27 a year at least. A

:29:54.:29:59.

lot of players don't make 27 in a lifetime. He is one of the game's

:29:59.:30:09.
:30:09.:30:25.

That was a tough shot to play he wanted to miss the cannon on the

:30:25.:30:31.

blue. It has all gone wrong now. But it is 100 for break by Ding

:30:32.:30:37.

Junhui and he extended his lead to 3-0.

:30:37.:30:44.

And he won frame four with the break of 74. So, frame five, Ding

:30:44.:30:52.

Junhui is at the table trilling. He is having a look to see whether

:30:52.:30:57.

the red... It is difficult to describe it, just to the left-hand

:30:57.:31:02.

side of the cluster of reds will pass the red that is near the

:31:02.:31:12.

the red. He has cannoned it. It This is the sort of opportunity you

:32:56.:33:03.

must take full advantage of. Roared has already 32 points to the good.

:33:03.:33:13.
:33:13.:33:25.

We saw a remarkable comeback yesterday evening from Alan McManus.

:33:25.:33:30.

Different format now we have reached the quarter-final stage.

:33:30.:33:40.
:33:40.:33:41.

The best of nine with an interval. Are you a fan of no interval?

:33:41.:33:46.

How many times have you seen that in a any sport turn things around

:33:58.:34:07.

pattern of the game can change. I do not see the need for it. That is

:34:07.:34:16.

coming from a person who holds The Record for the longest frame ever,

:34:16.:34:26.
:34:26.:34:45.

98 minutes. I know, and I was fit 41 points in front. He played the

:35:07.:35:13.

wanted to be. He still needs a couple of reds to keep this frame -

:35:13.:35:23.
:35:23.:36:00.

Still 67 remaining on the table. Knowledgeable audience recognise

:36:00.:36:04.

that Ding Junhui has lost his first frame at last this evening. He

could have lost a couple of others. It is always difficult to see

Well done, Robert Milkins. A good way to open your account. Fantastic

shot on the black. That is more like the Robert Milkins I know. He

:38:54.:39:04.
:39:04.:39:06.

:39:46.:39:53.

ball plant. I don't think he needs to take a risk like this. I agree

:39:53.:39:59.

with you. But you know that Ding Junhui will. Whatever he does, he

:39:59.:40:04.

is going to have to put it in a position where Ding Junhui does not

I wonder if he is going to do it now, the shot that Domenech

Milkins. If he can get on the blue nasty, it is end of March. Does he

:45:21.:45:31.
:45:31.:45:37.

I don't think that is any good as far as getting on the pink is

:45:37.:45:47.
:45:47.:45:58.

Whatever you do, don't risk position by playing the blue a hard.

:45:58.:46:08.

He needs the rest, I think. This is It looked like it was going to be

everywhere. -- a run away. He has What a good performance. He won the

:47:02.:47:06.

opening four frames, went a little bit quiet for a while. And he

:47:06.:47:16.

eventually wins by one. I played very relaxed today. We both played

:47:16.:47:23.

no good when the match started. Getting in the game earlier, I am

:47:23.:47:31.

playing better. He also had some pressure. He missed some easy balls.

:47:31.:47:35.

Just take my chance. When you look at the statistics, this guy is

:47:35.:47:41.

playing so well. And efficiently clinical display? He is playing

:47:41.:47:44.

absolutely fantastic. I commentated on the first match of the

:47:44.:47:49.

tournament when he played and had two centuries back to back. In the

:47:49.:47:54.

next match he had a two centuries. We said it was the best we have

:47:54.:48:00.

seen him play for a long time. century breaks and 70 -- said and

:48:00.:48:06.

50 plus breaks? You can ask for anything more than that. It is all

:48:06.:48:16.
:48:16.:48:17.

about the 50s and the 60s. The hundreds are nice. But he will be
