... Bit stupid really, a long way away, but he's one of the players

:01:00.:01:07.

that looks for it from the start. This will tell us whether he's

:01:08.:01:12.

thinking of the 147. There's your answer.

:01:13.:01:18.

He's looking at me in the commentary box there, thinking, should I go for

:01:19.:01:20.

the max or not? ! He's played it. How's the cue ball?

:01:21.:01:34.

It's not too bad. Well played. Couldn't believe he's asking how

:01:35.:01:35.

much it is for the max. I can tell Ronnie that it's ?10,000

:01:36.:01:53.

plus ?2,000 highest break. He's just had a look in the

:01:54.:01:56.

commentary box. I've put ten fingers up to say it's ?10,000. Sometimes he

:01:57.:02:01.

doesn't try hard enough if it's not enough. I think he might try this

:02:02.:02:05.

time. Didn't look too impressed when you said it was only ?10,000 as

:02:06.:02:07.

well. Such a genius, he really is. He's not even going for it now. He

:02:08.:02:24.

felt it's not enough money. Amazing. I thought it was absolutely

:02:25.:02:29.

disgraceful. People play good money to watch sportsmen give it their

:02:30.:02:33.

best at all times. Ronnie O'Sullivan didn't give it his best in not

:02:34.:02:37.

making a 147. There must have been lots of people in the crowd that had

:02:38.:02:43.

never seen a 147 and he had every opportunity to make the 147 for them

:02:44.:02:47.

and he should have given them, he should have given them their money

:02:48.:02:49.

back. He's just looked at the commentary

:02:50.:02:58.

box and smiled. Bless him, you have to love him, I have to be honest.

:02:59.:03:06.

Could have given me that ?10,000. Could have done something decent

:03:07.:03:09.

with it, you know, charity or something, you know.

:03:10.:03:14.

?10,000 is a lot of money. Most players, I'm sure, 99.9% would be

:03:15.:03:24.

trying for a maximum there, but he's probably done too many. He's just

:03:25.:03:29.

giving somebody else a chance. I don't think it's disrespectful. It's

:03:30.:03:35.

genius. He doesn't have to go for it, he is not compelled. He was

:03:36.:03:38.

trying to make a point I think. I myself would go for it, of course I

:03:39.:03:42.

would, ?10,000 to anybody is quite a lot of money.

:03:43.:03:51.

He's pleased with it and sometimes it's nice to have a 146 instead of a

:03:52.:04:03.

147. Probably a bit mischievous, but I can't help it, I get a little

:04:04.:04:07.

buzz. It's like when you watch a film, it's a sequel, you've had the

:04:08.:04:12.

first, is it a better ending at the next one?

:04:13.:04:17.

Always a sequel with Ronnie. He's box office whatever you think of

:04:18.:04:21.

this. A very good afternoon to Willie Thorn, you were commentating

:04:22.:04:25.

on this one yesterday, we heard you telling Ronnie there was only

:04:26.:04:29.

?10,000 in it for that 147 and we all had a chuckle at the time but in

:04:30.:04:32.

the cold light of day this morning did your tone change, did you think,

:04:33.:04:38.

he might have been out of order? I got involved in the emotion when the

:04:39.:04:42.

game was going on. I've made a few notes here, a lot of the players

:04:43.:04:46.

have made 147s but not on the TV, Judd Trump never on TV, Hawkins,

:04:47.:04:54.

Alan, perry, Gold, Ebdon, Docherty, Davis only made one on TV back in 8

:04:55.:05:00.

#2rks John Parrot never, Alex Higgins. That's how difficulties.

:05:01.:05:04.

I'm sitting on the fence because from the players' point of view and

:05:05.:05:07.

the public. Obviously the public will feel cheated, one joining man

:05:08.:05:12.

had a ?4 bet at 25-1 that he'd make a 147 in that match so he's been

:05:13.:05:18.

cheated. Until he got to 64, he wasn't aware of what the prize money

:05:19.:05:22.

was and played a couple of shots there that are just exhibition shots

:05:23.:05:27.

and he just loves making the 147. He feels a 147 sometimes means more to

:05:28.:05:31.

him than a tournament win. It was a difficult one, taking apart the

:05:32.:05:34.

argument, the spirit of whether he should have been saying how much,

:05:35.:05:37.

how much, ?10,000 is not enough, but it was a difficult pot though wasn't

:05:38.:05:40.

it, let's be honest? Difficult to get on that black? Well, the 14th

:05:41.:05:45.

red, he would have left himself a quarter or half ball black, he could

:05:46.:05:48.

haven't got close to the black so the black would have been missable.

:05:49.:05:53.

Ronnie used the word mischievous and that's what he is and he wanted to

:05:54.:05:58.

make a point. Plenty of people having their say on this today.

:05:59.:06:04.

Earlier on, the chairman of world snooker, Barry Herarne spoke on BBC

:06:05.:06:09.

Five Live. They say there's a thin borderline between genius and

:06:10.:06:12.

madness and Ronnie seems to have lived that life. What did I think of

:06:13.:06:17.

it, I thought it was thoroughly entertaining as usual with Ronnie. I

:06:18.:06:23.

think it was a shame because, 147 is a wonderful achievement but let's

:06:24.:06:27.

not get carried away, there is quite a lot of them these days. World

:06:28.:06:32.

snooker have a ?5,000 every ewent roll-up if you like, so that if it

:06:33.:06:35.

does take a long time to make one, there's a significant amount of

:06:36.:06:39.

money, but these days, with the standard of play, it doesn't take

:06:40.:06:44.

very long. Neil Robertson won ?40,000 in the UK Championships

:06:45.:06:47.

because that was the role-up 147 prize, if you like. There hassenn't

:06:48.:06:53.

been one for one event and this is the second, so the prize is ?10,000.

:06:54.:07:01.

-- hasn't been won. We used to pay a prize for darts. Currently on the

:07:02.:07:04.

European Tour there is no prize money at all for a nine-darter

:07:05.:07:07.

because there are so many of them. So it's a statement of the prize

:07:08.:07:12.

fund that it's out of our hands, the players are just very good, but I

:07:13.:07:15.

think the bigger issue is the paying public and the millions watching on

:07:16.:07:19.

TV, some of them perhaps have never seen a 147 and if you are a

:07:20.:07:22.

youngster going to your first tournament it's a thrill that it's

:07:23.:07:27.

very special within the sport. He also said that there is no such

:07:28.:07:31.

thing as bad publicity. What do you think of what Barry had to say? I

:07:32.:07:35.

agree. The fact that obviously he doesn't realise quite how hard it is

:07:36.:07:39.

to make it. Of the 50 or so that have been made on TV, about 25 have

:07:40.:07:43.

been made by the same three players and a lot of players have never had

:07:44.:07:48.

one in tournament play. A lot have never had one in practise. It's easy

:07:49.:07:52.

to get that, but it's not as easy as Barry is trying to make out it is.

:07:53.:07:55.

He's got form on this as well Ronnie. Six years back, this was

:07:56.:08:01.

2010 and the world Open in Glasgow where he has a chance here to get a

:08:02.:08:06.

147 maximum. So he takes the pink. He's not going to go for the black

:08:07.:08:12.

until the referee says pot it. He says, you are perfect on the black,

:08:13.:08:17.

the audience have never seen it so pot it. He was making a stand.

:08:18.:08:21.

Because there was no money for a 147, ?4,000 for the highst break in

:08:22.:08:25.

that tournament. But do you subscribe to that theory that all

:08:26.:08:30.

publicity is good or has this damaged the sport to an extent?

:08:31.:08:35.

I don't think so, geniuses have flaws and we can look at the

:08:36.:08:39.

McEnroes, the George Bests or the Bothams or whatever. They do

:08:40.:08:45.

something sill write. Ronnie made a stand, has it backfired, remains to

:08:46.:08:49.

be seen -- they do something silly. He'll probably do a 147 in the next

:08:50.:08:53.

game to make us happy. Interesting chat with Ronnie later if he wins

:08:54.:08:57.

his second round match. Before the rocket returns, quietly going about

:08:58.:09:01.

his business, is the man they call the ace in the pack, Judd Trump.

:09:02.:09:22.

# Feel my heartbeating # You make me feel

:09:23.:09:42.

# Like I'm alive again... # This is the man he's up against,

:09:43.:09:47.

Rory McLeod in round two, the 44-year-old who turned professional

:09:48.:09:52.

in 1991, 58th in the world at the moment, he's recorded 70 clear

:09:53.:09:57.

centuries and did make a 147 break in 2010 in Prague, though I can't

:09:58.:10:01.

confirm whether that was on TV or not!

:10:02.:10:05.

Certainly was. And Judd Trump hasn't made one on TV so maybe today they

:10:06.:10:07.

will! OK. We'll find out whether Judd

:10:08.:10:13.

Trump can possibly take a step closer to his first world ranking

:10:14.:10:18.

title in a couple of years. Here they come out on to the table. How

:10:19.:10:22.

do you feel that Judd is looking right now, Willie? In fairness, he's

:10:23.:10:28.

kind of waiting to happen isn't he, we all expect him to do great

:10:29.:10:32.

things, he's won tournaments, what I like about him, is he tries to

:10:33.:10:36.

please the crowd, no way he would have refused a 147 because he loves

:10:37.:10:40.

them. Judd will be too strong for Rory this afternoon I think.

:10:41.:10:45.

Judd trump v Rory McLeod in round two of the 2016 Wales Open. Let's

:10:46.:10:49.

join the commentary team, Darren Morgan and Dominic Dale.

:10:50.:10:55.

Welcome all to this very intriguing encounter between, you would have to

:10:56.:11:01.

say, probably the second most exciting player at the moment in the

:11:02.:11:05.

game Judd Trump. I think the only one you would maybe put in front of

:11:06.:11:09.

him would be Ronnie O'Sullivan which obviously there's a lot of debate

:11:10.:11:14.

going on about what he did yesterday with his 146, playing someone that

:11:15.:11:19.

seems to be come into his prime at the ripe old age of 44, Rory McLeod.

:11:20.:11:28.

Won his first ranking event this year very late, most people's career

:11:29.:11:35.

is earlier, but he seems to be playing his best snooker. I don't

:11:36.:11:39.

think Judd Trump will have it all his on way this afternoon but it's

:11:40.:11:42.

imperative Rory gets off to a good start. Which way are you going with

:11:43.:11:50.

this, Dominic? It's only a short sprint, best of seven.

:11:51.:11:55.

I think from Rory's point of view, he'd be happy to share the first two

:11:56.:12:02.

frames and get a foothold into the match. If Judd Trump starts well,

:12:03.:12:06.

he's one of those players who can win three or four frames very

:12:07.:12:09.

quickly. He'll be looking to do that.

:12:10.:12:15.

He will be well aware of Rory's ability as a snooker player. Rory's

:12:16.:12:22.

beaten Judd twice in the seven meetings.

:12:23.:12:25.

So Rory will know that Judd is far from invincible.

:12:26.:12:40.

I concur. By Judd's standards, it's been a quiet season for him. He has

:12:41.:12:50.

reached a couple of finals, but last season I think he reached half a

:12:51.:12:54.

dozen or so. He looked like he was in much better form.

:12:55.:13:04.

When he's in full flow, very exciting to watch.

:13:05.:13:48.

Good shot from Judd. Tried to get in behind the brown, very nearly did.

:13:49.:13:56.

He's tried to assemblitering in what his aggressive shot selection and

:13:57.:13:59.

become more of an all-round player. But he does give you chances, Judd.

:14:00.:14:04.

Probably gives players more opportunities than he'd like to

:14:05.:14:07.

himself, but every now and again, he will come up against somebody who

:14:08.:14:11.

takes those opportunities and he does lose, but, as you say, a very

:14:12.:14:14.

exciting player to watch. Certainly one of my favourites to watch, sad

:14:15.:14:18.

Ronnie and other players as well, but you never know what you are

:14:19.:14:22.

going to get with Judd. That's what makes him exciting.

:14:23.:14:35.

Must have thought he potted that one. He done everything for it to

:14:36.:14:42.

find its way into the pocket. Not the best he's played. Could have

:14:43.:15:28.

done another three or four inches there.

:15:29.:15:32.

He's looking, this is going to be tight, whether he can get through

:15:33.:15:35.

the potting angle. It's going to be very, very close.

:15:36.:15:40.

Indeed. Especially given the margin of error he had to play with there.

:15:41.:15:56.

He could have been six or eight inches further up the table and

:15:57.:16:05.

would have been nicely on the black. Just having to look to see if he can

:16:06.:16:09.

bend the cue ball and straighten the red up a bit and make the potting

:16:10.:16:13.

angle. Look at that angle, it doesn't look on. The problem here

:16:14.:16:18.

for Rory is, when he plays a safety shot, there is a red in balk

:16:19.:16:21.

virtually and that will cause him problems. If he can just leave the

:16:22.:16:25.

cue ball in the yellow pocket jaws, he'll be OK here. Good shot but of

:16:26.:16:32.

course he'll be desperately disappointed not to have made a good

:16:33.:16:36.

break from there and even maybe won the frame from that sort of chance.

:16:37.:17:55.

Well controlled shot. His main priority was to get up to the cue

:17:56.:18:00.

ball. Left the pink. A couple of shots he can play, the

:18:01.:18:13.

two below the pink to the left corner. Again, it's all about the

:18:14.:18:15.

cue ball. Too good now. The green is on to the

:18:16.:18:23.

centre but it's a very thin snick. Just shows how Judd Trump has

:18:24.:20:13.

changed. Showed restraint there, he'd have been dieing to go for one

:20:14.:20:18.

of these reds and a couple of years ago he wouldn't have hesitated,

:20:19.:20:23.

would have been straight down, bang. To win at this level now, can't pot

:20:24.:20:29.

all the balls on the table. No matter how well you play, you have

:20:30.:20:30.

got to have a second game. Caught that too thinly, Rory, can't

:20:31.:21:02.

help but think that must have drifted a little bit, the player

:21:03.:21:06.

wants to hit a shot four ball, he's going to hit it four ball and he's

:21:07.:21:11.

led Judd into the centre which he's potted very well. Choice of green or

:21:12.:21:17.

brown here, probably the green. Brown's a bit thin.

:21:18.:21:31.

Knowing Judd as I do, he would have purposely played to cannon the blue

:21:32.:21:38.

out there. This is the sort of position Judd's so very dangerous

:21:39.:21:48.

in. His mentality is to win the frame from this and he'll be harsh

:21:49.:21:52.

if he doesn't. There are a few reds in awkward positions.

:21:53.:22:56.

He'll be very disappointed with that last one. Got into the cue ball a

:22:57.:23:08.

little too much. Speaking about a foot, there we are

:23:09.:23:36.

with a perfect example of the strangest pair of shoes you've ever

:23:37.:23:40.

seen! I don't think I'd want to be kicked

:23:41.:23:42.

with them. I don't think they'd be any good for

:23:43.:23:45.

playing football in, would they? Does like the old shoes, doesn't he,

:23:46.:24:12.

remember he was playing last year similar to shoes like that, they

:24:13.:24:18.

were flatter but more diamond-crystal looking. I don't

:24:19.:24:23.

even know what we'd call them, but he does like the old footwear to say

:24:24.:24:29.

the least. It's the way he expresses himself out at the table. Everybody

:24:30.:24:34.

to their own. Rory's in a spot of bother there.

:24:35.:25:21.

Had to play the spot carefully. This for Judd is a good opportunity.

:25:22.:25:33.

Hasn't found his range or timing. He's gotten away with one there.

:25:34.:26:50.

A little disappointed with that. Into the middle his previous shot.

:26:51.:26:58.

Just didn't cue that smooth at all. Great opening red from Judd that's

:26:59.:28:19.

afforded him this opportunity and that little cannon on the black's

:28:20.:28:23.

served him well as well. He can get through to the red, I believe. Very

:28:24.:28:33.

tight. Thought he was in prime position for a moment but obviously

:28:34.:28:35.

not. Useful lead in this frame.

:28:36.:28:53.

Particularly given the position of the reds.

:28:54.:28:59.

He was unfortunate there, he just caught the middle knuckle, otherwise

:29:00.:29:05.

he'd have been a lot closer to this red.

:29:06.:29:12.

What a terrific shot this was, especially after the previous red,

:29:13.:29:15.

he missed by a very long way. Didn't hold back with that one

:29:16.:29:27.

either. Used the cue ball to slow down. Still on the brown. Couple of

:29:28.:29:35.

reds out in the open. As Dominic said, he's building a nice little

:29:36.:29:44.

lead in this open frame. Very well played.

:29:45.:30:09.

Swapped hands to the right hand, showing Ronnie anything he can do,

:30:10.:30:13.

he can do as well. It is a good thing tapping your

:30:14.:30:30.

armoury, that you can swap hands. More players are doing it these days

:30:31.:30:34.

as well, instead of using the rest. You can't blame them. I couldn't put

:30:35.:30:43.

a ball with my other hand. I wasn't that good with the rest! That was

:30:44.:30:58.

very quick, awkward cueing. An unusual miss, but it was awkward

:30:59.:31:02.

cueing, just push the cue ball to the right. It made him hit the black

:31:03.:31:13.

bit thick. But you would have to say he has been a bit edgy, Judd Trump.

:31:14.:31:15.

He has had a couple of chances. What a pot that was from Rory,

:31:16.:31:42.

played other shot-to-nothing but it was very thin. One of the shots of

:31:43.:31:48.

the tournament so far, surely. You would expect a pot one out of ten of

:31:49.:31:53.

those. A helpful bomb of the middle pocket jaw has given him position on

:31:54.:31:54.

the pink. -- a helpful bump. The lead that Judd Trump has will be

:31:55.:32:12.

an advantage, it will be difficult for glory to make inroads to that.

:32:13.:32:24.

-- full Rory. Oh, you cannot miss that. Oh, Rory. That should have

:32:25.:32:29.

been rudimentary. Will it cost him the frame? Judd need read, colour,

:32:30.:32:32.

red, colour. Pushed the red into the cushion

:32:33.:32:48.

first. Always play those to the far jaw.

:32:49.:33:12.

The pink will leave of all re-leading a stupid.

:33:13.:33:27.

Again, that is the Mitchell Judd Trump for you, playing a good

:33:28.:33:54.

safety. -- the match Judd Trump. Shows he means business, he will not

:33:55.:33:55.

give any easy opportunities. A good long red. Definitely the end

:33:56.:35:05.

of the first frame now, even if Judd was to miss.

:35:06.:35:16.

Identity it has been the start that joke was looking for, he will be

:35:17.:35:22.

happy that he has got the first frame on the board but I don't think

:35:23.:35:25.

you will be too happy with the way he has cued it.

:35:26.:35:36.

Showing everybody it is all there, waiting to come out. That was an

:35:37.:35:44.

unbelievable strike of the brown, a real exhibitionist, Judd Trump. Very

:35:45.:35:52.

exciting to watch. The pink haven't gone in, tried a couple of

:35:53.:35:57.

exhibition shots to try to please the crowd here in Cardiff. Rory

:35:58.:36:00.

McLeod have had a lot to think about, had his chances, they didn't

:36:01.:36:06.

materialise, Judd Trump leads 1-4 you read.

:36:07.:36:08.

Great finish by Judd Trump there. Another start, though. He has got to

:36:09.:36:14.

be careful he does not get involved in the wake Rory plays, he is one of

:36:15.:36:17.

the slowest players, not the quickest, and Judd can get bogged

:36:18.:36:25.

down. Rory has beaten Judd on some of the six occasions they have met.

:36:26.:36:30.

A straightforward ring in the first round last night, 4-0 --

:36:31.:36:36.

straightforward win. Where is he right now? We spoke about this

:36:37.:36:40.

before the match, it has been a couple of years since he won the

:36:41.:36:44.

world ranking title, about time we saw something special? I'm a big

:36:45.:36:50.

Judd fan, it surprises me he is not dominating the game. The standard is

:36:51.:36:55.

so good, there is a nucleus of ten or 12 players capable of winning

:36:56.:37:01.

every tournament, and another set of players who could pinch anything. I

:37:02.:37:06.

have commentated on Judd so many times and I cannot quite pin what is

:37:07.:37:09.

wrong with him. He is one of the best part is, one of the best

:37:10.:37:13.

break-builders, safety play was not as good as it should have been but

:37:14.:37:17.

he has improved. I have to presume there is something in his

:37:18.:37:21.

temperament, he must get nervous, without showing in his face that he

:37:22.:37:26.

is nervous. He must miss easy shots under pressure. When that brain, he

:37:27.:37:32.

was getting a bit annoyed with himself -- that frame. Like Ronnie,

:37:33.:37:37.

he does not realise how difficult the game is, if he's not making a 70

:37:38.:37:41.

break every time he thinks he is not doing well. I think Ronnie and Judd

:37:42.:37:46.

have got to realise it is a tough game and now want then you have to

:37:47.:37:51.

struggle. Stuart Bingham yesterday struggled terribly. He was awful,

:37:52.:37:56.

and it happens, you get under pressure sometimes. Ronnie even

:37:57.:38:00.

creeping into this conversation! What about Rory McLeod, we have seen

:38:01.:38:04.

him practising a lot here in the last few days. If you are Rory

:38:05.:38:08.

McLeod and you have seen lower ranked players beat the likes of

:38:09.:38:13.

Maguire and Bingham, you have to think, that could be me? He has won

:38:14.:38:19.

a PTC event, he is capable of winning anything, and he used to

:38:20.:38:22.

practice with Peter Ebdon who told us that in practice he is

:38:23.:38:25.

unbelievable. When it comes to the match table, he tries to be too

:38:26.:38:30.

careful. Sometimes he tries not to lose, rather than to win. I'm a fan

:38:31.:38:36.

of Rory McLeod, not a fan of the pace he tries not to lose, rather

:38:37.:38:38.

than to win. I'm a fan of Rory McLeod, not a fan of the pacey

:38:39.:38:43.

plays, and he has gone for a comfort break here and it will be on his

:38:44.:38:48.

mind, I will slow Judd down. If you played Judd Trump or Ronnie

:38:49.:38:51.

O'Sullivan, you have got is there than down, that is what he is doing.

:38:52.:38:55.

A bit of psychology? Judd Trump wondering where he is, their years,

:38:56.:39:00.

back out, Rory McLeod, ready to try to take this back to 1-4. Judd Trump

:39:01.:39:05.

as the lead, let's see what happens in frame two.

:39:06.:39:12.

COMMENTATOR: Thank you, some interesting comments from Willie.

:39:13.:39:19.

These two are vastly contrasted in their styles of play, and there is

:39:20.:39:24.

no way that Judd Trump will want to be in failed into a tactical bout

:39:25.:39:31.

with Rory McLeod. He will want to spoil or blunt Judd Trump's potting

:39:32.:39:33.

ability, if he can. He is having a good look at the

:39:34.:40:15.

reds, see if he can find a safety. Normally you can drop the cue ball

:40:16.:40:36.

onto the back question but he will be leaving the reds to the right

:40:37.:40:37.

corner. Nearly pulled out a terrific pot.

:40:38.:40:49.

Add a similar shot in the first frame, did everything but go in.

:40:50.:40:59.

Found the gap, very well played shot. Unfortunately, he has left

:41:00.:41:05.

Judd the red to the right corner. I think he played to go into the

:41:06.:41:19.

pack. He has hit the red team meant to miss on the stops the cue ball

:41:20.:41:21.

dead, nicely on the black. I'm amazed to see Judd miss such an

:41:22.:41:45.

easy black, by his standards. He had one eye on the cannon to the red.

:41:46.:41:57.

This is easily Rory's best opportunity, though he had one

:41:58.:42:03.

similar to this in the first frame, didn't rebound the cue ball far

:42:04.:42:06.

enough off the top cushion for the position on the black.

:42:07.:42:50.

I think we might see him try to storm into the pink.

:42:51.:43:07.

He could try to find the gap, there is not much of a gap there.

:43:08.:43:20.

He will be happy with that. For a minute it looked like he would knock

:43:21.:43:30.

the red into the corner pocket. Played it with a lot more pace than

:43:31.:43:36.

I thought you would. If he had not got the double-kiss there with the

:43:37.:43:39.

reds, one would have found its way into that pocket. The balls are now

:43:40.:43:51.

placed perfectly. This is similar to what he would be setting up in

:43:52.:43:53.

practice. I'm really amazed to see he is not

:43:54.:44:17.

playing the red to the right-centre for easy position on the blue to the

:44:18.:44:23.

same pocket. I don't know why he is hell-bent on playing the one over

:44:24.:44:26.

the corner pocket. Maybe he wants to clear the black pocket, I can

:44:27.:44:29.

understand that, but he has to get on a corner from this and it go

:44:30.:44:37.

wrong. -- get on a colour. It has. Why did he want to play that red? I

:44:38.:44:40.

can't understand that. There are players that reads the

:44:41.:44:59.

game very quickly, and Judd is one of those, as is Ronnie O'Sullivan,

:45:00.:45:03.

Jimmy White, the natural players, they read the game quickly and see

:45:04.:45:07.

the shot. For me, Rory didn't see the way forward there. Plenty of

:45:08.:45:18.

time and opportunity to pop that red, and he could have got on the,

:45:19.:45:20.

very easily. -- got on the colour. Wasn't easy, the pink into the

:45:21.:46:07.

left-centre. Rory McLeod knows he had a fantastic chance in the first

:46:08.:46:15.

frame, it didn't take it. Had one great chance in the second brain,

:46:16.:46:19.

made 15, and he has been gifted another one.

:46:20.:46:37.

You can normally count on one hand in a match the amount of chances you

:46:38.:46:43.

would get off the likes of Judd Trump.

:46:44.:46:50.

At the moment, he is not to settle out there. -- not too settled.

:46:51.:47:45.

He must take the opportunity to level this match. The only way you

:47:46.:47:51.

can beat the top players is to keep them under pressure, make it

:47:52.:47:52.

difficult for them. We have not seen Judd Trump come out

:47:53.:48:08.

so poorly for a while, it is a great opportunity for Rory to put some

:48:09.:48:09.

pressure on him. That was a very well struck shot,

:48:10.:49:25.

back in position. The main thing if he is still going.

:49:26.:49:33.

Getting ever closer to the winning line in this second frame.

:49:34.:49:43.

Short match, really important to win a frame and get yourself on the

:49:44.:49:49.

board. He goes to 52 points, so just this

:49:50.:50:38.

green, red, colour, red to open his account in the match.

:50:39.:51:03.

Just the red and a colour will be enough for Rory.

:51:04.:51:25.

Rory will have eyes on making a century break now. Possibility of

:51:26.:51:48.

106 on. Break ends at 55, rather prematurely

:51:49.:52:24.

from Rory's point of view, but he has done more than enough, get his

:52:25.:52:27.

first frame on the board and level the match at one frame all.

:52:28.:52:33.

STUDIO: All square now, let's bring you up-to-date with some of the

:52:34.:52:37.

results from earlier today in Cardiff. Good news for Wales with

:52:38.:52:41.

Michael White, the Welshman, through to round three with a 4-3 win over

:52:42.:52:47.

Tom Ford. Shaun Murphy through, the world number four. Went out early

:52:48.:52:52.

last year but said through after a 4-3 win over Mitchell Mann. You do

:52:53.:53:00.

Luhansk beaten Ricky Walden. Liang Wenbo also through to round three,

:53:01.:53:06.

Ken Doherty three after a 4-3 win over David Gilbert. Dechawat

:53:07.:53:15.

Poomjaeng, 43rd in the world, beating Robert Milkins, a top 20

:53:16.:53:27.

race -- top 25 player will. We spoke earlier about Judd making a

:53:28.:53:32.

nervous start. He will be feeling jittery now, won't he? The problem

:53:33.:53:37.

is he played the most awful safety shot you have ever seen. This is the

:53:38.:53:42.

first mistake he made and I can't understand quite white Rory played

:53:43.:53:45.

this shot, as Dominic alluded to in commentary. Only Rory will know why

:53:46.:53:52.

he played this shot. But the key was, but it got to the safety shot,

:53:53.:53:59.

he played a dreadful safety shot which let Rory window frame. He

:54:00.:54:05.

letting them, it is 1-1, back to the commentary team -- he let him in.

:54:06.:54:13.

COMMENTATOR: Yes, I agree, it was a poor safety and it cost him the

:54:14.:54:19.

second frame. Rory McLeod will be feeling so much better, and nice

:54:20.:54:25.

effort of 55, lost possession a couple of times but soon we gained

:54:26.:54:27.

it. -- soon regained it. Players much prefer longer

:54:28.:54:44.

distances, gives them a bit more chance to settle down. The short

:54:45.:54:55.

formats, keeps it exciting and keeps everything on edge. Another very,

:54:56.:55:00.

very poor safety shot from Judd Trump. If he can get past the green,

:55:01.:55:07.

which I suspect he can, it is an easy starter again.

:55:08.:56:45.

He was dead straight down the line, Judd, way off the pot, which is

:56:46.:58:08.

quite unbelievable really. Looked like he was way off line with it. I

:58:09.:58:16.

see that a lot when I'm watching snooker on TV. I wonder whether it's

:58:17.:58:21.

the trick of the camera or actually, whether it's real truth where the

:58:22.:58:26.

player looks like they are missing something. Looks like it's going to

:58:27.:58:30.

hit that thin to the top cushion. You're absolutely right, I didn't

:58:31.:58:35.

spot that, Darren. So, in other words, it would appear that Judd

:58:36.:58:40.

sort of cues around the corner, as Steve Davis terms it. Cue backwards

:58:41.:58:47.

and forwards in a straight line, but more rather in a curved ark, comes

:58:48.:58:49.

through straight on impact. Got a couple of loose reds before

:58:50.:59:51.

he's got to look at the pack. It's all about this next shot now.

:59:52.:00:03.

Probably preferred to be low on the black to swing the cue ball into the

:00:04.:00:05.

cluster. Six or seven inches into that. The

:00:06.:00:33.

red has gone in. I think he's just OK on this.

:00:34.:00:42.

Little bit thinner. Hits it too hard.

:00:43.:01:04.

I don't think he thought he could get into that. Going to be a safety

:01:05.:01:15.

now. Right down the line of this, I think

:01:16.:02:40.

Rory can see the edge of this pack of reds. Just got to be careful he

:02:41.:02:44.

doesn't knock a Road on into the left corner.

:02:45.:03:22.

And Judd's left this right-to-left corner. Just off straight so he can

:03:23.:03:31.

choose to run through with pink or blue or he can just stop the white.

:03:32.:03:57.

Doesn't come much better than that. If anything, probably a little too

:03:58.:04:03.

good. Left himself slightly hampered.

:04:04.:04:18.

Really got hold of the cue ball to control it for the black. Just had a

:04:19.:04:25.

look to see if there are any plants, Rory did there.

:04:26.:04:38.

Probably one into the left centre. To the left of that little group of

:04:39.:04:43.

four. Absolute bonus for him. In potting

:04:44.:05:19.

this, he'll open the three reds. I don't quite know why he hit it as

:05:20.:06:28.

hard as he's done. As long as the black goes the left corner, he's OK.

:06:29.:06:34.

That was a close call. He blocked both pockets.

:06:35.:06:38.

But now, you would have to say it's an absolute gifting opportunity.

:06:39.:06:52.

He's got one awkward red on his back cushion and the yellow on the side

:06:53.:06:57.

cushion. Good effort by Rory McLeod.

:06:58.:07:08.

Takes his time on every shot. Does the same drill.

:07:09.:07:32.

Oh, dear. Didn't really get ideally on the red.

:07:33.:08:08.

Let's do well to hold it for one of the balk colours. Disappointed there

:08:09.:08:12.

not to have gone on to have won the frame from that opportunity.

:08:13.:08:33.

Tried to cut the red in there, Judd. He's left a similar cut back on his

:08:34.:09:17.

opponent here. Sure Roy will be taking this on. Ought to be playing

:09:18.:09:25.

for a choice of green or brown from this, I would imagine. He'll be

:09:26.:09:27.

lucky to pot it on for his opponent. What a great shot that was. Played

:09:28.:10:08.

that down the right hand side. Check the cue ball. Very clever.

:10:09.:10:18.

At the moment you would have to say it's Rory McLeod getting the upper

:10:19.:10:22.

hand in this safety bout. Just not with it at the moment Judd

:10:23.:10:37.

Trump. Played that as a pot to nothing, last couple of shots he's

:10:38.:10:44.

had, he's missed them bay long way. The balk colours on the way down.

:10:45.:10:46.

Safety putt. Massive frame now. In the context of this match,

:10:47.:10:54.

massive frame. Judd avoiding playing the two reds

:10:55.:11:09.

together because he knows the right hand one of those two would find its

:11:10.:11:11.

way very near the corner pocket. Tricky shots to execute, but it's

:11:12.:11:26.

played very well if that yellow stops. This is a shot Rory has to be

:11:27.:11:31.

very careful with. Very easy to knock a red on to the corner here.

:11:32.:12:45.

Would have gone but there wasn't much room there at all.

:12:46.:12:54.

It's amazing in this format. So many of them at it. Another good pot.

:12:55.:13:12.

He's landed very straight. Could have done with being half ball to

:13:13.:13:19.

disturb the reds. He's not going to be doing much there. Maybe just pop

:13:20.:13:23.

the black and take the seven. He has the option with the yellow on the

:13:24.:13:26.

pocket. He could try a fancy shot off the yellow to disturb the two

:13:27.:13:31.

reds, but... Very unlikely he's going to play

:13:32.:13:32.

that. He's going to take the seven and a

:13:33.:13:39.

good safety. Great chance here for Rory to swing

:13:40.:14:06.

the cue ball round. Difficult shot, you might think, but he'll be

:14:07.:14:10.

disappointed here if he can snooker Judd. Just depends where the red

:14:11.:14:16.

goes after he's played the shot. Controlled this really well. Surely

:14:17.:14:18.

that's a snooker. Left Rory an attempt at left corner.

:14:19.:16:08.

He's winning the safety battle at the minute.

:16:09.:16:28.

He always knew the yellow was the saving grace on the pocket and he's

:16:29.:16:40.

finished nicely on green. Turning into a very good performance from

:16:41.:16:45.

Rory McLeod. Commentator's curse there!

:16:46.:16:53.

Needed to miss the blue with the cue ball.

:16:54.:17:04.

This is certainly a different Judd Trump from last night. Commentating

:17:05.:17:15.

on my match earlier, he was on the table next door flying around the

:17:16.:17:16.

table and potting everything. Not quite the snooker that Rory was

:17:17.:17:41.

intending it to be. It's right what you say Darren about Judd, he only

:17:42.:17:47.

managed to break a 39 so far. Rory himself only managed a #45 40 and a

:17:48.:17:55.

55. Where's this red going? Is it going in? What a fluke that is.

:17:56.:18:00.

Would have been a good safety shot anyway.

:18:01.:18:06.

Don't mean to be disparaging in any way, but he's known for a good run

:18:07.:18:11.

of ball, probably because he plays such an attacking game and that

:18:12.:18:14.

could win him the frame if he's careful here.

:18:15.:18:18.

To be fair, he had a good cue ball, so if the yellow, the red I should

:18:19.:18:27.

say, hadn't gone in, looks like Rory would have been foul ball snookered

:18:28.:18:31.

anyway. Rory would have obviously preferred that option. This will

:18:32.:18:37.

hurt because McLeod's been in total control of this frame. He's

:18:38.:18:40.

outplayed Judd in all departments. We were on about turning points. In

:18:41.:18:56.

the context of this frame and match, this is massive.

:18:57.:19:09.

The only solace Rory McLeod's going to have I think. Getting on to it

:19:10.:19:29.

from a dead straight pink. I can't see him potting the black from

:19:30.:19:30.

there. Great effort. Cue power, Judd Trump. Probably a

:19:31.:19:37.

little disappointed. Got to be a good safety. Surely he

:19:38.:19:56.

can't be thinking about the double. Can't be thinking.

:19:57.:20:05.

That's the right shot and he's played it very, very well.

:20:06.:20:27.

That's about as good as he could have played that. Very good indeed.

:20:28.:20:37.

Most players like sticking the black in the white, obviously you just

:20:38.:20:44.

leave your opponent if you don't do it quite right.

:20:45.:20:50.

Going for the double on black. Hit the black hard enough that if it

:20:51.:20:56.

misses the pocket, it travels back up the table. Always a chance, all

:20:57.:21:02.

depends on how you feel, really. Straight up and down shot. That's

:21:03.:21:13.

the thing of the past now. Super fine cloth, cue ball always seems to

:21:14.:21:14.

swing in and you double kiss. And it hasn't paid off and he's left

:21:15.:21:34.

this black over the middle so you would have to say it's going to be a

:21:35.:21:40.

very disappointed Rory McLeod, Judd Trump's had a bit of a run and he

:21:41.:21:48.

will go 2-1 behind. As it happens, he's taken his chances, trump now

:21:49.:21:50.

leads 2-1. Judd Trump is sat there. He doesn't

:21:51.:23:04.

look too happy does he, looks bewildered. He'll be thinking,

:23:05.:23:09.

what's gone wrong in the first three frames even though he's 2-1 up.

:23:10.:23:23.

He had a bit of good fortune after that frame. 2-1 ahead.

:23:24.:23:38.

Struggled in this match. In this studio earlier, can't always play at

:23:39.:24:08.

your best. Might just become very scrap pill

:24:09.:24:15.

and sometimes you have to win when you're not at your best.

:24:16.:24:34.

Of all the disappointment, Rory McLeod will be thinking about this

:24:35.:24:37.

pot in. Judd will take it. Wasn't an easy

:24:38.:24:42.

pot. Can't play well all the time. The

:24:43.:25:09.

most successful players in the game are the ones that have learnt to win

:25:10.:25:13.

when they are not at their very best.

:25:14.:25:20.

When they are all good and playing at their best, they can all win.

:25:21.:25:25.

It's when they're bad and who's got the best bad. That makes the big

:25:26.:25:31.

difference. Potted the blue. Just a frustration

:25:32.:27:11.

shot in going for that red. That was the thinnest, the thinnest of cuts.

:27:12.:27:17.

You do well to play that and pot that in practise, never mind in an

:27:18.:27:25.

event live on the TV. That's what makes him so exciting. That's why we

:27:26.:27:27.

love him. We'll see Rory pot this red. He

:27:28.:27:35.

looks like he's dead straight. Obviously to get back up for either

:27:36.:27:45.

the blue or a balk colour. Hasn't come out too badly this for

:27:46.:28:34.

Rory. He is suffering a bit of confidence. Not as straightforward

:28:35.:28:36.

as they sometimes are. Creating chances for himself, Rory,

:28:37.:29:47.

just doesn't seem to be able to get in perfect control.

:29:48.:29:54.

Played it well. Lot of movement there in the top half of his body.

:29:55.:30:02.

Bit of a snatch there. Forcing the cue ball. Just watch and see the

:30:03.:30:12.

movement there. Trying to help it into the pocket.

:30:13.:30:15.

The main thing is, it's gone in, still nicely in position.

:30:16.:32:39.

This is also shaping up to be another friend that Rory McLeod

:32:40.:32:46.

would be disappointed to lose, and lead of 13 points, still two more

:32:47.:32:50.

loose threads he can play on. He will need one or both of those two

:32:51.:33:00.

remaining difficult reds. Depends what colours he takes as to whether

:33:01.:33:03.

he gets the opportunity of putting them. -- potting them.

:33:04.:33:19.

Sometimes when you play a shot with your cue, it can rip off your logo!

:33:20.:33:28.

They don't add here as well as some of the players would like. That was

:33:29.:33:34.

a good effort from Rory, tried to Cannes and read off the question

:33:35.:33:39.

while he had the opportunity. -- tried to cannon the red.

:33:40.:34:38.

It was difficult cueing but he will be relieved that the red did not

:34:39.:34:49.

rebound off the cushion. The good thing from Judd point of view is

:34:50.:34:57.

that he could develop one of the reds.

:34:58.:35:50.

Again, made a mistake with his 60. Fortunate that he hasn't left this

:35:51.:35:57.

any easier than it is the back row one -- made a mistake with his

:35:58.:36:03.

safety. He has played by far the better

:36:04.:36:26.

snooker out of the two players, even though he is currently one frame

:36:27.:36:32.

behind. Should have definitely won the last frame.

:36:33.:36:49.

Like Willie said during his interview in the studio, sometimes

:36:50.:36:55.

Rory find problems that are not there and tries to make sure of

:36:56.:37:03.

everything. You can be a bit too careful sometimes.

:37:04.:37:12.

He is a very capable player, having the best year of his career.

:37:13.:37:23.

He put all of his eggs in Mombasa get there. Won't be enough Judd

:37:24.:37:32.

Trump to pinch this frame -- put all of his eggs in one basket. If he

:37:33.:37:37.

does go on to pinch the frame, it would be a massive body blow for

:37:38.:37:43.

Rory McLeod. Like all great players, when they need to step up to the

:37:44.:37:49.

mark and not in something a bit special, they normally find

:37:50.:37:50.

something from somewhere. The reds are not in a great

:37:51.:38:07.

position, the yellows and -- the yellow and green not in a great

:38:08.:38:09.

position, but he has a chance. This is a very acute angle for the

:38:10.:38:29.

red in the right to centre. I think it may be on but he would

:38:30.:38:32.

automatically be the wrong side of the blue, which could cause

:38:33.:38:33.

problems. Didn't go in. I still thought, in

:38:34.:38:46.

spite of clipping the mere jaw, it would fall in. That is a reprieve

:38:47.:38:51.

for Rory, who finds himself coming to the table 21 points ahead. Just a

:38:52.:38:57.

red and high value colour to leave his opponent needing a snooker.

:38:58.:39:11.

Just catches the mere jaw, I still thought it was going in.

:39:12.:39:26.

Barring a snooker from Judd Trump, that will be two frames all.

:39:27.:39:36.

Rory will need to be careful, Judd would only need one snooker. The

:39:37.:39:42.

colours are favourably placed for Judd.

:39:43.:40:24.

I get quite know what Rory played there but he has put itself in

:40:25.:40:27.

trouble. -- I don't quite know. Rory is in a little bit of trouble

:40:28.:40:47.

here, I don't know if he can get high enough on the side cushion to

:40:48.:40:52.

get directly to the yellow. He might have to pay this off two questions.

:40:53.:41:01.

Most players would prefer to play this off two questions. -- cushions.

:41:02.:41:24.

He has slipped past. I don't like the one cushion escape. I think he

:41:25.:41:33.

is in trouble. REFEREE: Frame ball.

:41:34.:41:51.

It was a free ball, he has tried to play a harder snooker than Rory was

:41:52.:41:57.

in and I think you have achieved that. -- I think he has achieved

:41:58.:42:08.

that. Judd was lucky to obtain the snooker previously, tried to stun in

:42:09.:42:12.

behind the blue, overheated by 45 inches but the yellow landed right

:42:13.:42:15.

in front of the brown, where it is now -- overhit it by four or five

:42:16.:42:22.

in front of the brown, where it is inches. Rory ought not to have left

:42:23.:42:29.

a free ball. It is not going to be easy to hit this yellow, he will

:42:30.:42:33.

have to play off probably two cautions. He has to play with side

:42:34.:42:39.

spin and Mr Cannon on the black. He is lucky. It is not on, that is

:42:40.:42:51.

what Rory was concerned about. He went further yellow, which would

:42:52.:43:49.

have been a frame-winner, and he missed it by a long way. He has been

:43:50.:43:53.

a bit fortunate but Rory McLeod will be happy.

:43:54.:44:39.

The smallest of gaps. I think he has you could Rory. That is absolutely

:44:40.:44:53.

incredible. -- I think he has snookered Rory. If the green was a

:44:54.:45:00.

quarter of an inch to the left, Rory could pop the yellow. I think he has

:45:01.:45:08.

just snookered it. Cannot see him getting the yellow from there, and

:45:09.:45:12.

if he can it will be the thinnest of edges.

:45:13.:45:21.

Played it well, now he needs to be lucky. You cannot begrudge him a bit

:45:22.:45:26.

of run. As the frame has gone on I have

:45:27.:45:55.

wondered whether Rory McLeod is fated to lose this as he did in the

:45:56.:45:57.

last. He did get through. What bravery to

:45:58.:47:02.

play such a speed. If that cue ball had drifted just a fraction it would

:47:03.:47:04.

have left the yellow over the pocket.

:47:05.:47:13.

Surely Rory will not lose this frame like you did the last? Again, the

:47:14.:47:21.

black ball is a problem for Judd like it was in the previous frame.

:47:22.:47:31.

Exciting stuff! I think Judd has landed in the only place he did not

:47:32.:47:41.

want to be. He has done it off one! Oh, how good

:47:42.:48:36.

was that?! That would have been the shot of the championship, the shot

:48:37.:48:37.

of the year! That is why we all love watching

:48:38.:48:52.

Judd Trump, he play shots you would not consider risking. What a

:48:53.:48:54.

wonderful shot that was, so unlucky. How much pressure now on Rory McLeod

:48:55.:49:18.

in these safety exchanges? Played that well.

:49:19.:49:52.

You must not leave on a double in the middle pocket when you play this

:49:53.:49:55.

type of shot. I think this is an instance where

:49:56.:50:28.

you would attempt the double. Rory could not have played that much

:50:29.:50:43.

better, excellent effort. He has potted it, a great Sport Prom

:50:44.:51:59.

Judd. Rory McLeod made the biggest break, but it wasn't enough and Judd

:52:00.:52:02.

Trump pulls clear at 3-1. That is why we love snooker, because

:52:03.:52:13.

things can change in an instant. Rory McLeod is not smiling, he has

:52:14.:52:17.

thrown away the frame and possibly the match. He will be kicking

:52:18.:52:21.

himself, the frame previously which was a black ball game, he played the

:52:22.:52:25.

long 22 hard and it left Judd and easy part. He played that double

:52:26.:52:29.

perfectly but unfortunately left a fine coat on. Going back to the

:52:30.:52:34.

safety shot on the yellow, he played a cross double when he was 29 in

:52:35.:52:39.

front, Judd needed a snookered. He played it far too hard again, so he

:52:40.:52:44.

is trying to get over the line sometimes too quick. Rory McLeod

:52:45.:52:53.

should be leading 3-1 and he is 3-1 behind. You say he is trying to play

:52:54.:52:59.

certain shots too quickly but you made the point earlier, as did

:53:00.:53:04.

Darren in commentary, that he is to conservative? Once he gets a

:53:05.:53:09.

frame-winning opportunity he tries to just go for it, but early on in

:53:10.:53:15.

the frame he plays shot-to-nothings all the time, he is good in the

:53:16.:53:21.

balls but gets tangled up in safety and tries to make things look more

:53:22.:53:25.

difficult than it should be. Rory McLeod has been around a long time

:53:26.:53:28.

and is capable of beating any player in the world, but to beat people

:53:29.:53:32.

like Judd you have to compete in all departments. He has competed in the

:53:33.:53:36.

safety but not necessarily the break-building, albeit having the

:53:37.:53:40.

highest break in that frame. He is just not clinching the frame, he

:53:41.:53:45.

should be 3-1 in front but he is 3-1 behind. Earlier we saw Rory McLeod

:53:46.:53:51.

going out for a long comfort break, now it is Judd Trump's turned to do

:53:52.:53:56.

it. I think a lot of players do that when it is one friend to go. You go

:53:57.:54:01.

into the toilet and look at yourself in the mirror and say, just one more

:54:02.:54:06.

frame. Self belief, that is what it is about. We'll Judd Trump see this

:54:07.:54:10.

one out or has MacLeod still got it within him to get himself back in?

:54:11.:54:14.

Trump leads 3-1. COMMENTATOR: Judd Trump breaking

:54:15.:54:28.

off, hoping this will be the final frame that he will have to play.

:54:29.:54:37.

Rory McLeod knows, three frames left, if he wants to continue in

:54:38.:54:41.

this year's Welsh Open, he will have to win all three. I agree, Willie,

:54:42.:54:49.

he should be 3-1 up, he is 3-1 behind. He has been ever so lucky.

:54:50.:54:56.

But he has just knocked in a great long red so he is not going to give

:54:57.:54:58.

up just yet. I wouldn't necessarily say he has

:54:59.:55:17.

been outplayed in the last two frames he had lost, just had a bit

:55:18.:55:23.

of a run go against him. Trump flipped the ball in the previous

:55:24.:55:25.

frame that cost him -- fluked. But Rory has had his chances. If he

:55:26.:55:47.

was to lose this match, I think he will go away and ponder on a couple

:55:48.:55:54.

of loose shots that he played that he maybe should have elected to play

:55:55.:55:55.

different ones. Good pot from Rory but, as we said

:55:56.:56:32.

in the studio, he does tend to hit the ball much harder than other

:56:33.:56:36.

players. You really have to be cueing well to not miss pots because

:56:37.:56:44.

of that. Judd is 3-1 ahead with the highest breaks of 35 and 39, his

:56:45.:56:50.

opponent has made a 40, 51, and 50 five. -- 55. From Rory's point of

:56:51.:57:01.

view, he should be holding the 3-1 advantage. I wonder how losing those

:57:02.:57:05.

last two frames in the manner he has will affect in? He has certainly

:57:06.:57:08.

come out in a positive manner in this frame. Easily done when you

:57:09.:57:14.

feel you are out of the match, nothing to lose.

:57:15.:57:39.

Just overrun by a couple of inches for the blue.

:57:40.:57:48.

But plenty of loose threads before things get difficult. -- loose reds.

:57:49.:59:05.

REFEREE: Touching ball. That wasn't a great positional shot from Rory,

:59:06.:59:18.

he will be disappointed with that, awkward giving. Over the reds,

:59:19.:59:29.

striking down on the cue ball. Good job the pot was easy otherwise that

:59:30.:59:31.

would have been a real miscalculation.

:59:32.:59:38.

Just having a look to see if the pink will spot on its own spot.

:59:39.:00:12.

A nice angle here to push through the pack of reds. He hasn't really

:00:13.:00:24.

given it enough on that shot. He needed to play that with a lot more

:00:25.:00:28.

top, he played it like a done run-through, really. I think that'll

:00:29.:00:36.

be the end of break. Again, putting yourself in a good position in this

:00:37.:00:40.

frame but still nowhere near safe. -- put himself.

:00:41.:01:51.

Bad miss from Rory just at the wrong time for him. Just the sort of

:01:52.:01:59.

chance he likes to close out a match with.

:02:00.:02:11.

Judd will be ordinarily expecting to win frame and match from here, but

:02:12.:02:16.

he hasn't made a break up of 0 in this match so far.

:02:17.:03:00.

A very well struck, well controlled shot that Judd played then at the

:03:01.:03:07.

bottom right hand side. He had a little bit of a kick on that last

:03:08.:03:10.

shot. As long as this red goes past the

:03:11.:03:27.

other one, he's still in business. If it doesn't... Things could come

:03:28.:03:33.

to an abrupt end. That's really tight.

:03:34.:03:49.

He has pots that are not easy, they are all in-between.

:03:50.:04:16.

He did play that with a little bit of ease.

:04:17.:04:31.

This is now becoming a frame-winning opportunity. This will be a very

:04:32.:04:39.

relieved Judd Trump if he does go on to win it with this effort. Rory

:04:40.:04:48.

McLeod's played very well. He just hasn't made enough of his chances

:04:49.:04:54.

when he's got in. He's had four breaks over 40, but he's managed to

:04:55.:05:00.

lose two of the frames and this could be his third.

:05:01.:05:16.

Just checking if he can finish this match with this effort. He has time

:05:17.:05:26.

to prepare before his next round. You do feel if he wants to win this

:05:27.:05:32.

event, he's going to have to play a lot better than what he's done this

:05:33.:05:33.

afternoon. The main thing is to play your best

:05:34.:05:51.

snooker towards the end of the tournament.

:05:52.:06:02.

By far his biggest break. Just a couple of pots away now.

:06:03.:06:21.

This will be a very relieved Judd Trump. He'll be first to say this

:06:22.:06:33.

was a bit of struggle and Rory's led him off a little bit. Last three

:06:34.:06:37.

frames, to be fair, Judd Trump should have lost. Like all true

:06:38.:06:40.

champions, he's found a which to win. Rory McLeod is going to be very

:06:41.:06:44.

disappointed with the way this match has gone and he's played well but

:06:45.:06:48.

not good enough. Judd Trump will be over the moon, he moves to the next

:06:49.:06:55.

round with a comfortable 4-1 win. You get the sense that neither of

:06:56.:06:58.

those two players will be particularly happy after that. Of

:06:59.:07:02.

course, Trump pleased to be through to round three, but by no means a

:07:03.:07:07.

perfect match for him. Very disappointing for Rory McLeod. How

:07:08.:07:13.

do you sum that up? Is it the mark of a champion or a top player to go

:07:14.:07:16.

through when you are not playing near your best? You have to have a B

:07:17.:07:21.

game and Judd Trump is finding his, albeit Rory McLeod will be

:07:22.:07:25.

horrified, he should have won the last three frames soit should be a

:07:26.:07:28.

4-1 victory. This happens in top class sport. You can sometimes miss

:07:29.:07:34.

the odd one or two balls. I was disappointed with Rory's safety

:07:35.:07:39.

shots when it came to the colours, but overall, Rory was the best

:07:40.:07:46.

player and he lost 4-1, that is sport for you. In terms of Rory, you

:07:47.:07:51.

said he'll be disappointed tonight, what does he learn from that? The

:07:52.:07:59.

thing is, if he can get a tape of that game and study two or three of

:08:00.:08:03.

the shots he played, that match was there for him to win, he was about

:08:04.:08:06.

outplayed by Trump in any department. In the last frame, Judd

:08:07.:08:11.

made his highest break of the match so far but Rory competed early on.

:08:12.:08:17.

He was favoured to win both the frames and he was in with a lead and

:08:18.:08:20.

Judd did that amazing clearance to pinch it.

:08:21.:08:23.

And Trump goes through to round three and perhaps for him a little

:08:24.:08:27.

bit of a wake-up call? I think so. Now he's had his scare, he'll

:08:28.:08:31.

probably realise he didn't play at his best today but still won. That's

:08:32.:08:36.

the beauty of being a top class player, you have to win with your B

:08:37.:08:40.

game and Judd joins us now. Nice to see you. Well done.

:08:41.:08:45.

Congratulations, you are through to round three. A wake-up call for you,

:08:46.:08:49.

not at your best today but you are through? Yes, so many games in these

:08:50.:08:53.

tournaments now that you are not going to play well every game.

:08:54.:08:58.

Anyone in the tournament seems to have a bad game, anyone who seen

:08:59.:09:03.

Ronnie play bad yesterday in would have been frame and everyone is

:09:04.:09:06.

talking to him because he seems to have played amazing but Ronnie

:09:07.:09:12.

played and just scraped through. I've played brilliant a few times

:09:13.:09:15.

this year and the next game come unstuck. It's just about getting

:09:16.:09:19.

through when you are playing badly. Rumour has it you put a lot of work

:09:20.:09:23.

in, still practising as much as you do normally? Yes. I'm playing a lot

:09:24.:09:30.

more. My whole practise sequence is more dedicated to what I'm not good

:09:31.:09:33.

at and it's all about my concentration levels. What do you

:09:34.:09:38.

feel you are not good at and what do you feel you have to improve on?

:09:39.:09:41.

It's hard now because I think I'm good at everything and it's just

:09:42.:09:47.

inconsistency. Yesterday I played on table TV, which isn't the TV table

:09:48.:09:51.

and it's so easy playing on that table, and then whereas Ronnie's

:09:52.:09:56.

used to playing on table one every single time, when you're moving

:09:57.:10:00.

around, it's so hard to keep getting back straight to it on the TV

:10:01.:10:03.

because the light and everything is so different. So unless you have

:10:04.:10:10.

that consistency which only Ronnie has, it's much harder for the other

:10:11.:10:15.

players and I think it kind of shows when you get on to the TV table. A

:10:16.:10:21.

couple of years since you won a world ranking title, does the

:10:22.:10:25.

pressure build? No, no, not at all. I know my game is up there with

:10:26.:10:29.

anyone and it's just about consistency. I'm losing these games

:10:30.:10:35.

5-4, 4-3, and if that wasn't happening, I would be winning the

:10:36.:10:40.

title. I think it proved it against Martin Gold. You just need that

:10:41.:10:44.

little bit of luck and everyone gets it, Ronnie had it at the Masters,

:10:45.:10:48.

got luck twroi win six fave and goes on to storm the tournament. Are you

:10:49.:10:52.

a fan of the best of seven format or do you think the game should be best

:10:53.:10:56.

of 11s, things like that, which normally the better players will

:10:57.:10:59.

come through those? I think everyone's probably happier with the

:11:00.:11:03.

longer distance, but I looked at the winners of this event the other day

:11:04.:11:07.

and it seems to be a top class player every time so I don't really

:11:08.:11:10.

think it does make a difference. Obviously you would like a longer

:11:11.:11:13.

run but I think the best mayer does come through in any best of five,

:11:14.:11:17.

best of seven, they still seem to win it. You mentioned Ronnie, we

:11:18.:11:22.

have asked everyone else, what do you make of yesterday and him not

:11:23.:11:26.

going for the 147? From my point of view, he wasn't perfect at all in

:11:27.:11:30.

the second last red and rather than trying to force his way down, he

:11:31.:11:37.

just took the easier shot. He would have taken a good -- it would have

:11:38.:11:41.

take an good shot to get on the red so from where I was looking, I don't

:11:42.:11:47.

think it was as easy as he made out. The best he could have done would

:11:48.:11:53.

have been to leave one up? Yes, the white above the red which is a hard

:11:54.:11:58.

shot and then rather than miss, he'd rather put debate on and pretend

:11:59.:12:03.

that he was perfect. So good for snooker. The first time I've seen

:12:04.:12:09.

snooker in the headlines! And whether you would have turned down

:12:10.:12:12.

?10,000, that is another question. See you in round three, thank you

:12:13.:12:17.

very much for joining us. There is at least one Welshman joining Judd

:12:18.:12:22.

in round three, let's show you how Michael White, the 24-year-old from

:12:23.:12:29.

Neath made it through against Tom Ford. Ford was leading 43-17 here in

:12:30.:12:33.

the deciding frame. What a good shot. He was all going

:12:34.:13:38.

to go for that shot. He knew he'd be on the black and he wasn't so

:13:39.:13:41.

certain it would beat the red on if he missed it, but still...

:13:42.:13:53.

Great pot. Bit of pressure out there, but Michael White is one of

:13:54.:14:00.

the better ones under pressure. He gets inspired when he gets to

:14:01.:14:05.

these positions. Just raises his game another notch.

:14:06.:14:13.

That long red from Michael White was absolutely fantastic. Just the sort

:14:14.:14:20.

of thing that champions do. I can show you the black he potted

:14:21.:14:25.

afterwards, fantastic shot also because it had to go in. It would

:14:26.:14:31.

have left Tom Ford the match if it didn't and now he's giving himself a

:14:32.:14:33.

chance to go through to the last 32. Never been more than one frame

:14:34.:15:39.

between these two. In a tight match, never a certain winner. At the

:15:40.:15:42.

moment though, there is. Just the brown to be safe then in

:15:43.:16:24.

this deciding frame. This match has swayed back-and-forth throughout

:16:25.:16:29.

really. Lots of quality. And quite a number of mistakes from both

:16:30.:16:34.

players. Excellent match to watch. I'm sure the crowd's enjoyed it. A

:16:35.:16:38.

lot of them are Welsh, so they'll be pleased that Michael White has won,

:16:39.:16:42.

but Tom Ford played his part in this match as well.

:16:43.:16:56.

Michael White's finally gotten through and beaten Tom Ford 4-3. At

:16:57.:17:12.

3-3 in the last frame, I thought, he was about 20-odd points in front.

:17:13.:17:16.

I'd one chance and I took it so over the moon, yes. I was very pleased

:17:17.:17:20.

with my form. It's only going to give me confidence for the rest of

:17:21.:17:24.

the tournament. So one match at a time, one shot at a time and see how

:17:25.:17:30.

it goes. Quite relaxed. Good day for Michael White and he plays Q enbo

:17:31.:17:35.

who is just above him in the world rankings in round three. He had a

:17:36.:17:41.

breakthrough year last year, won the shoot-out then got his title, the

:17:42.:17:46.

Indian Open? Whatever tournaments you win, it kicks you on. The same

:17:47.:17:51.

happened with Barry Hawkins. The same happened with Michael White

:17:52.:17:54.

there, he's been very good for a long time. Obviously it's 1-0 to the

:17:55.:18:02.

Welsh as far as they're concerned. He can beat anybody on day, like

:18:03.:18:11.

Judd. His shot selection would need to be improving if he wants to be a

:18:12.:18:14.

regular tour winner. His ability is very, very good. He said it was

:18:15.:18:18.

about time a Welshman won this competition. Realistic chance?

:18:19.:18:24.

Absolutely. Best of seven format. We saw Ben get to the final last year

:18:25.:18:28.

and Higgins reasonably close but anyone can win over this format and

:18:29.:18:35.

Michael's a contender. Michael and Judd going through to round three

:18:36.:18:39.

then. Coming up shortly it will be a certain Ronnie O'Sullivan coming out

:18:40.:18:51.

for his second round match. Now, he is facing Pengfei who he hasn't ever

:18:52.:18:55.

beaten. It's a 2-0 lead for the Chinaman? That shows you the

:18:56.:19:01.

strength and depth of the game. People coming here to watch the

:19:02.:19:04.

match probably wouldn't have heard of him and now you mention the fact

:19:05.:19:09.

he's beaten him twice. Will he be favourite today, certainly not.

:19:10.:19:13.

Ronnie will be strong favourite and I expect Ronnie to come through.

:19:14.:19:18.

Yes. Obviously the whole furore yesterday over the 147 that he

:19:19.:19:22.

didn't go for, that's not going to affect him is it? Ronnie would not

:19:23.:19:26.

look at the press today, he'll be switched off, he gets himself in the

:19:27.:19:30.

zone, arrives at the venue very late, doesn't mix with the players,

:19:31.:19:35.

keeps himself to himself, normally has his friends with him all the

:19:36.:19:39.

time and keeps himself to himself. He'll get himself up for this match

:19:40.:19:43.

and he'll know in fairness what he is more likely to do is to try and

:19:44.:19:49.

make a 147 today. Barry Hearn had a few things to say. Ronnie hasn't

:19:50.:19:54.

bitten, he's stayed away from im. This is how he is, he's got about

:19:55.:19:59.

150,000 followers or something and he's not following anybody he

:20:00.:20:04.

wouldn't know about what Barry Hearn is saying. How do you see this

:20:05.:20:08.

going? He'll win 4-1 at least I think. Time to find out whether

:20:09.:20:12.

Ronnie makes it through to round three, he's been in the Spotlight

:20:13.:20:16.

over the past 24 hours. Here he is back under the lites once more for

:20:17.:20:24.

his second round match Benns Tian Pengfai.

:20:25.:20:29.

Darren Morgan and Terry Griffiths in the commentary box.

:20:30.:20:36.

Ronnie O'Sullivan back on. Looked in good spirits when he was upstairs

:20:37.:20:47.

earlier on. His opponent, of course, is Tian Pengfei. Hasn't really

:20:48.:20:52.

fulfilled his early promise, but still a strong competitor. Beat

:20:53.:20:58.

Ronnie twice. Plenty to look forward to.

:20:59.:21:25.

He struck it well. It was only the pace I think that kept that one out.

:21:26.:21:43.

Very close. He hasn't quite got the angle he was

:21:44.:22:25.

looking for there. He always brings something different

:22:26.:22:58.

into the arena when he plays. One thing you're going to get is ball

:22:59.:23:02.

strike, you know, of the very highest standard.

:23:03.:23:37.

I don't know whether I'm liking the hair clip that he's got. My

:23:38.:23:50.

daughters stick a couple of those in, but they are normally not seen.

:23:51.:23:54.

You can't help but admire Ronnie O'Sullivan. He is an absolute

:23:55.:24:07.

special one-off. He has had some right hair styles over the years, it

:24:08.:24:13.

has to be said. I can't have too much of a pop because I've got no

:24:14.:24:20.

hair. I'm just jealous I can't stick a hair clip in mine!

:24:21.:24:37.

Not a ripple of applause for that shot but he did very well. Nice

:24:38.:24:52.

angle there. There wasn't much to go for here with O'Sullivan, just had

:24:53.:25:01.

the skill to bring balls into play. His position and may is so gad. --

:25:02.:25:06.

position and play is so good. Hold on, he's missed position. Going

:25:07.:25:40.

for the green. Doesn't mess about. Absolute pleasure to watch.

:25:41.:26:08.

Tell you what, if he wins this frame from this opening, they should just

:26:09.:26:12.

give him the toe frill! -- trophy. Playing the slow roll into the

:26:13.:26:46.

yellow pocket. Well, he did. He's carrying on the way he finished

:26:47.:27:07.

off. That's gone a little bit astray for him. No problem. Perfect

:27:08.:27:18.

control. On fire. One of the boys in the studio was

:27:19.:27:36.

saying, will it effect him what happened yesterday when he comes out

:27:37.:27:37.

to play today. Well, there you go. Ronnie's had a little bit of

:27:38.:28:53.

criticism over his 147. But the truth of it is, how much pleasure's

:28:54.:28:59.

this man giving to millions of people around the world. And

:29:00.:29:07.

continues to do so. He's one of the very special sportsmen that people

:29:08.:29:08.

like watching. Another BAFTA drop! Wonderful start

:29:09.:29:29.

from Ronnie O'Sullivan. Tian Pengfei sitting there thinking, what is

:29:30.:29:36.

happening here? Terry was absolutely right, daft question would he be

:29:37.:29:43.

affected by the whole 147, 146 few rowry, absolutely not. When you

:29:44.:29:47.

consider pink or black, virtually past the winning post, his

:29:48.:29:54.

positional play there, he got the right side all the time. His

:29:55.:29:57.

position there was probably one of the best breaks we have ever seen,

:29:58.:30:02.

at this Welsh Open. That is what he brings to the table. The fact that

:30:03.:30:07.

Terry said would it affect him certainly we know it's not affected

:30:08.:30:10.

him. In complete contrast to yesterday when we saw him come out

:30:11.:30:15.

and make a slow start in round one, and as you said in commentary, he

:30:16.:30:19.

looked indifferent, disinterested, he looks like he wants this one over

:30:20.:30:25.

with as soon as possible? He's not the most attacking player in the

:30:26.:30:27.

world and Rory said in his post-match interview the fact that

:30:28.:30:31.

he wanted to play quickly, he didn't want to get involved in a four-hour

:30:32.:30:34.

match, the same can be said about Tian Pengfei, because he's not the

:30:35.:30:39.

biggest player in the world, very big cuist, beaten Ronnie twice, but

:30:40.:30:44.

as we see, Ronnie is up for it today and every player will be getting a

:30:45.:30:47.

couple of hair grips now, that must be the key to making a century

:30:48.:30:51.

break. Interesting hair style today greased back. Ronnie 1-0 up.

:30:52.:31:02.

So, Tian Pengfei knows what he's up against this afternoon. He knew it

:31:03.:31:14.

obviously before he came in but he has a 100% record against Ronnie,

:31:15.:31:19.

two out of two. Something is telling me that might change this afternoon,

:31:20.:31:22.

I would not want to write him off too soon. But he will have to pull

:31:23.:31:31.

out something special, I don't think he will get much help from Ronnie.

:31:32.:31:34.

He is on absolute fire. Saying that... He really gave that

:31:35.:31:42.

brown is back -- a whack. He would have expected to pop

:31:43.:32:06.

that, he was playing with a lot of force.

:32:07.:32:17.

Let's see how much the last frame has affected Tien.

:32:18.:32:50.

He had no side on that. Should have been playing with left-hand side.

:32:51.:33:01.

REFEREE: Green ball. Having a look about. I think there

:33:02.:34:22.

is something on there. Goes easily. I'm afraid, Tian, one thing you

:34:23.:34:49.

cannot do, when you lose position in the balls, when you don't get any

:34:50.:34:53.

pot to go for, you have got to play a good safety. So important to keep

:34:54.:34:55.

your opponent off the table. I am asked so many times by people,

:34:56.:35:08.

wide of the top players get intimidated by playing against

:35:09.:35:12.

Ronnie O'Sullivan? I hope they watched the first frame! They won't

:35:13.:35:14.

ask again! If Ronnie was to go on and clear

:35:15.:37:01.

work here, he could make another century. Long way to go, mind. But

:37:02.:37:08.

it would be three on the trot -- and clear up here.

:37:09.:37:21.

He is now in full flow. In his previous match there was a little

:37:22.:37:29.

time against Barry Pinches in the third frame, should have gone 2-1

:37:30.:37:33.

behind, but managed to take the frame and go 2-1 up, played a couple

:37:34.:37:41.

of wild whacks. Looked a bit disinterested. Had a big kick there,

:37:42.:37:49.

that is why he is short on position. But take that away from his first

:37:50.:37:53.

two matches and he has played absolutely flawless snooker.

:37:54.:38:05.

One thing you notice about Ronnie O'Sullivan, a bad kick their left

:38:06.:38:11.

him a slightly awkward shot. He doesn't flinch if he gets a kick or

:38:12.:38:16.

about or somebody has a fluke, doesn't show anything. No emotions,

:38:17.:38:21.

no nothing, no movement. That in itself gets his opponents down a

:38:22.:38:27.

little bit. A good thing to do, though.

:38:28.:39:28.

You feel the only ball that. Him making a century in this game will

:39:29.:39:32.

be the green. -- that will stop him. Tried to move the green and missed

:39:33.:39:56.

it, so he will have to play the yellow. He parted the yellow, I

:39:57.:40:00.

should say he will have to play the double. It wasn't to be. That was by

:40:01.:40:07.

his third century on the trot but he will not be too worried. Tian

:40:08.:40:12.

Pengfei has a real task now. Ronnie O'Sullivan leads 2-0.

:40:13.:41:18.

Well, Ronnie is sitting there, I'm sure he will be quite happy with the

:41:19.:41:25.

way things have gone so far this afternoon. Love him or hate him, you

:41:26.:41:30.

would have to say he is such an exciting player to watch. Off the

:41:31.:41:39.

table he has a certain way about him, some people love it, other

:41:40.:41:43.

people don't. Ronnie just gets on with what he wants to do. Knows what

:41:44.:41:49.

he wants, and when you are as good as him, I suppose he has earned the

:41:50.:41:56.

right to call the shots and a bit. -- a little bit. But you do feel

:41:57.:42:04.

that, without him the snooker world would be a poorer place.

:42:05.:43:35.

I think Ronnie can sneak this end, as in cut but I think he can get the

:43:36.:43:49.

potting angle. -- snick this one in. A poor shot that Tian Pengfei

:43:50.:43:53.

played. Kept good control of the cue ball. The only thing Tian can hope

:43:54.:44:03.

for is Ronnie missing the green. If he pots the green, two reds on the

:44:04.:44:14.

right centre, everything out in the open, in five minutes he could be

:44:15.:44:23.

3-0 down. That is the thing with Ronnie, doesn't taking long. 8.5

:44:24.:44:30.

minutes for the first frame, nine for the second, doesn't hang about.

:44:31.:44:43.

There are two reasons for that, one is that he sees the shot very

:44:44.:44:49.

quickly, and secondly his positioning is so good that he is

:44:50.:44:53.

not walking that far, he's always close to the next ball. Very

:44:54.:44:58.

difficult to play against when he is at his best.

:44:59.:45:07.

Many times he has forced his opponent to go for too many shots

:45:08.:45:13.

that he didn't want to play to try to get back into the game, and that

:45:14.:45:18.

in itself is playing against the grain for a lot of players. But you

:45:19.:45:23.

feel when you get a chance you have to go with Ronnie otherwise you're

:45:24.:45:24.

going to lose. And most people do. We have only played two friends,

:45:25.:45:43.

already 200 points ahead in the scoring. -- two frames. As Tammy

:45:44.:45:55.

said, always in total control of the cue ball, nice and tight. -- as

:45:56.:45:58.

Henry said. A big crowd in here today, it is

:45:59.:50:23.

like watching an artist at his best. This is really special stuff. The

:50:24.:50:31.

people viewing at home, please don't think this game is very easy,

:50:32.:50:32.

because it is not. Oh, well! It is wonderful, wonderful

:50:33.:51:17.

stuff will -- wonderful stuff. Burn thing at the crowd, so many people

:51:18.:51:19.

smiling. -- glancing at the crowd. REFEREE: Foul. Absolutely wonderful

:51:20.:51:49.

stuff from Ronnie O'Sullivan! Two centuries and 90.

:51:50.:51:53.

Says it all that he has won three frames in less than an hour. The

:51:54.:52:05.

beauty there was his cue ball control. He only went in and out of

:52:06.:52:08.

baulk once in those three frames such was his positioning with the

:52:09.:52:12.

cue ball. He played that exhibition shot, trying to pot the pink, catch

:52:13.:52:16.

the jaws of the middle pocket and come back for the black. Tian

:52:17.:52:20.

Pengfei must be wondering what has hit him. It is like shooting

:52:21.:52:24.

practice, it is amazing how good he is playing. It is. Does it come down

:52:25.:52:30.

to playing on television, the lack of experience? Playing the man, not

:52:31.:52:35.

the table? He has not had a chance to show us otherwise. Ronnie get the

:52:36.:52:43.

buzz from playing on television. Whenever Ronnie O'Sullivan plays, it

:52:44.:52:47.

is a packed audience. The only thing that worries me, now and again, like

:52:48.:52:52.

against Barry Pinches, he can go into his shell. When he is playing

:52:53.:52:55.

like this, he is unbeatable, but he does not play like this all the

:52:56.:53:02.

time. Frame four, one frame away from a whitewash.

:53:03.:53:09.

COMMENTATOR: Tian Pengfei breaking off, he will be hoping this. The

:53:10.:53:17.

onslaught from Ronnie O'Sullivan. As Willie said, he has only really had

:53:18.:53:25.

one opportunity. Ronnie has played absolutely faultless this afternoon.

:53:26.:55:18.

He just lost the cue ball there, pot it a bit thin, the red to the right

:55:19.:55:26.

corner. Showing us he is still quite

:55:27.:55:51.

positive. All he can do is pot what is in front of him at play-the-ball

:55:52.:56:01.

's that are there. -- and play the balls.

:56:02.:56:20.

It is tough out there for him, he has not had much table time,

:56:21.:56:26.

obviously, sitting down watching a O'Sullivan give an exhibition of

:56:27.:56:27.

matchplay. The red has gone near to the black

:56:28.:57:37.

spot but he is on the black of course. Ronnie O'Sullivan always

:57:38.:57:42.

looking to get that black spot clear.

:57:43.:58:01.

That is handy, he has bought the pink interplay, or a bit looser, at

:58:02.:58:10.

least, away from the reds -- bought the pink into play.

:58:11.:58:23.

Not as good as normal, tried to avoid the green, obviously.

:58:24.:59:30.

A couple of options, read to the right centre, read to the left

:59:31.:59:41.

centre. -- red. If this goes on, you feel the end is very near four Tian

:59:42.:59:49.

Pengfei. He has not done a lot wrong, his chances have been very

:59:50.:59:54.

few and far between. Just come up against the Rocket. Full power.

:59:55.:00:48.

break. Interesting hair style today greased back. Ronnie 1-0 up.

:00:49.:00:51.

Remember Stephen Hendry telling me once that he had many battles with

:00:52.:01:10.

Ronnie O'Sullivan and the difference between winning and losing was who

:01:11.:01:14.

had the good splits because both players were excellent at moving the

:01:15.:01:18.

balls about and going into the pack. If you had a bad split and the other

:01:19.:01:23.

player was having a good split, that was the difference, not much between

:01:24.:01:27.

them. Hendry was dominating the game at that time.

:01:28.:01:38.

Missed the cannon on the green. Needs another good pot. It's coming

:01:39.:02:16.

very easy to him. Very comfortable out there. Unbelievable performance.

:02:17.:03:15.

I'm sure this crowd would love him to get 20100. He's moved the red and

:03:16.:03:21.

needs one good shot. And in goes the red. This is quite

:03:22.:03:35.

unbelievable. If he clears up for another century here, it will be in

:03:36.:03:39.

the last five frames he's played in this year's Welsh Open, four

:03:40.:03:48.

centuries made. Obviously, that controversial 146 included in those.

:03:49.:04:00.

Ronnie would be the first to say it doesn't get much better than this.

:04:01.:04:03.

Absolutely flawless. What an unbelievable performance.

:04:04.:04:41.

Tian Pengfei will be very disappointed, just didn't get into

:04:42.:04:49.

the match. But Ronnie O'Sullivan, 100, 110, 112, he must have his eyes

:04:50.:04:51.

on this Welsh Open prize once again. That crowd inside the Motorpoint

:04:52.:05:02.

Arena may have been denied a 17 yesterday from Ronnie but they were

:05:03.:05:05.

treated to an absolute master class this afternoon. Darren said it in

:05:06.:05:08.

commentary there, unbelievable stuff. Very straightforward? All the

:05:09.:05:15.

players usually play like that, well sometimes, but Ronnie does it so

:05:16.:05:19.

often. His opponent had one chance in four frame there is to put

:05:20.:05:22.

something on the board. That is as good a performance I've seen from

:05:23.:05:26.

Ronnie for a few years. He won the Masters, he didn't play great in

:05:27.:05:30.

that but still won it. Virtually unbeatable. 38 minutes in total.

:05:31.:05:40.

that but still won it. Virtually mentioned previous tournaments. It's

:05:41.:05:40.

almost the kind mentioned previous tournaments. It's

:05:41.:05:45.

which he won this tournament two years ago in sensational style? .

:05:46.:05:51.

Made a maximum in the last frame. He goes into his shell sometimes and

:05:52.:05:54.

gets involved and things like that and I think he's been very quiet

:05:55.:05:58.

coming into this tournament. He didn't play in another tournament

:05:59.:06:02.

before the Masters, he's come into this tournament very quietly, played

:06:03.:06:06.

great towards the end and that last four frames there, you just can't

:06:07.:06:09.

get better than that, you really can't. His poor opponent? Any

:06:10.:06:15.

consolation? When you consider he beat Ronnie twice, once was on the

:06:16.:06:19.

European Tour event that doesn't really count but he beat him on the

:06:20.:06:22.

China Open so he is a play they're can do the business. Here he comes,

:06:23.:06:27.

the man who is through to round three. Just a bit lax today, Ron?

:06:28.:06:34.

Was it? All the players are going to wear a hair clip now. Do you want to

:06:35.:06:39.

borrow one? He hasn't stopped talking about your hair clip this

:06:40.:06:41.

afternoon. You looked like you had a plane to catch or something, I don't

:06:42.:06:45.

know, that was what, 38 minutes straightforward for you today. You

:06:46.:06:48.

must have enjoyed that? I don't know, did you enjoy it, was it all

:06:49.:06:53.

right? Yes. Did you? Yes, it was good, yes.

:06:54.:06:58.

You've lost the last two against Tian Pengfei. Did he play that well

:06:59.:07:01.

against you or were you struck until the last two matches? No. I rate him

:07:02.:07:07.

as a player, he's tidy, compact, but he had chances against me but just

:07:08.:07:11.

didn't make the most of them, you know. Did you feel better today,

:07:12.:07:15.

more relaxed, confident than yesterday? I was fantastic

:07:16.:07:19.

yesterday, I'm fantastic today, I've been fantastic every day for quite a

:07:20.:07:23.

while really. I don't know what the furore is about. Looked at any

:07:24.:07:27.

social media lately? You get told about a few bits and pieces, but,

:07:28.:07:32.

you know, I don't know what to say. They started ringing me at 7

:07:33.:07:37.

o'clock, I've done 11 radio interviews. I'm looking out from

:07:38.:07:40.

both sides, the player and the public. I agree the prize money

:07:41.:07:45.

should be more but I'm sure you've got your own opinionsen that anyway?

:07:46.:07:48.

I was just having a bit of fun. When you get to 40 and have been doing

:07:49.:07:52.

this 25 years, you have to start to enjoy it at some point and I just,

:07:53.:07:56.

you know, wasn't taking it seriously, it was a bit of fun, a

:07:57.:08:00.

bit of a laugh and I hope everybody sees it in that way, I don't see why

:08:01.:08:04.

we have to take everything so seriously. Barry Hearn said it was

:08:05.:08:09.

disrespectful and unacceptable to the paying public who came here to

:08:10.:08:14.

gate 147? Told me I was going to make a 146, they would have probably

:08:15.:08:18.

bought the ticket off the back of that. If it's disrespectful, if

:08:19.:08:23.

anyone else can put in a performance like that, there's my chalk, my cue,

:08:24.:08:27.

waistcoat, go and do it. Absolutely. If you'd won the ?10,000 and could

:08:28.:08:32.

have given to it charity, what about that statement? When you are out

:08:33.:08:35.

there playing, you don't think about what everybody is going to say, when

:08:36.:08:39.

I go out there, it's the only time in my whole life that you drop all

:08:40.:08:42.

your problems at the door, whatever you have got going on in your life,

:08:43.:08:47.

you go into it, a wonderful zone-out, and I don't know what it's

:08:48.:08:51.

like for most players, but I start to, you know, thing goes through

:08:52.:08:55.

your head that make you want to kind of do things, you know. You go into

:08:56.:09:00.

a bit of a showman-type thing. I was trying to explain to people, getting

:09:01.:09:04.

the buzz from the 147, it's almost as big a buzz as winning a

:09:05.:09:07.

tournament and it excites you when doing it? Yes, there's nothing like

:09:08.:09:12.

it. It's the ultimate, like the nine-darter. It's a great feeling.

:09:13.:09:18.

But I just, you know, I used to make 140s in practise and deliberately

:09:19.:09:21.

not pot the black because I just, you know, it was like more

:09:22.:09:24.

impressive to do that than it was to make a 147 because everybody's used

:09:25.:09:30.

to people making maxes and I was only 16 and Stephen Hendry was

:09:31.:09:33.

watching, he was the man at the time and I thought, how do I impress this

:09:34.:09:36.

guy and he was watching me and I made a 140 and started setting the

:09:37.:09:40.

balls up. So you just kind of do little things just for a laugh and a

:09:41.:09:45.

kick and I got a kick out of doing it in practise when Stephen was

:09:46.:09:48.

watching. I'm sorry for getting a kick out of something like that. How

:09:49.:09:54.

can you turn down ?10,000 though, even for a man like yourself who's

:09:55.:09:59.

done it so many time? It's not about the money, it's about having fun and

:10:00.:10:03.

a laugh and I hope everybody sees it as that. If I'd have been out there,

:10:04.:10:07.

like when I woke up this morning, I thought it would have been a

:10:08.:10:12.

marvellous thing to go for the max and give it to charity, but I wasn't

:10:13.:10:16.

thinking. I'll try and not have fun next time. You certainly did today,

:10:17.:10:20.

you never missed a ball. I played all right. But, you know, it's just

:10:21.:10:24.

like an exhibition. Playing so many exhibitions, I feel like every time

:10:25.:10:27.

I go to the table I want to clear up so I think I need to start doing

:10:28.:10:33.

some more exhibitions if it's going to make me play like that. You are

:10:34.:10:37.

living proof that you can have an eight-month break, go away and do

:10:38.:10:40.

what it is that you enjoy dog away from snooker and you can come back,

:10:41.:10:44.

like at the Masters and appear to be doing here and be on top form? I

:10:45.:10:51.

love playing, practises and we do some exhibitions, me and Willie and

:10:52.:10:56.

JV and I enjoy them more than I do playing competitions, but I realised

:10:57.:11:00.

I couldn't just do exhibition ands and no competitions because the

:11:01.:11:03.

snooker fans, they want to see you play on TV, they want to root for

:11:04.:11:07.

you so I've got to get the balance right to play in enough competitions

:11:08.:11:10.

where I get sharp and the motivation to practise, but really I prefer

:11:11.:11:14.

playing my exhibitions. I don't want to be playing John Higgins, Neil

:11:15.:11:19.

Roberts and Selby every week, you're having a laugh! These tournaments,

:11:20.:11:24.

they're really tough. I don't really want to do that, it can be

:11:25.:11:32.

gruelling. Do you put the practise in or use the exhibitions? I do

:11:33.:11:37.

practise. We do the picketions as well. You did one with me, it's

:11:38.:11:42.

great. The pocket's a bit Joan rows, knocking in six, seven eight tonnes

:11:43.:11:46.

in eight frames. Playing guys that can't really play but that's what

:11:47.:11:54.

they come to see. I feel like I've wandered into Ronnie O'Sullivan's

:11:55.:12:00.

kitchen a bit. Take over then! I can do a 147! In terms of not wanting to

:12:01.:12:05.

play John Higgins and this type of thing... I don't mind, but I don't

:12:06.:12:09.

want to do it every day, I want to chill out, have fun on the road,

:12:10.:12:13.

have good food, chill out it's relaxed, come to the tournaments,

:12:14.:12:17.

it's pressurised very intense, you pick up on the energy around,

:12:18.:12:21.

everybody's feeling that thing, so I just want to dip in and dip out of

:12:22.:12:25.

it and just come and see if I've still got it and if I have then

:12:26.:12:31.

good. Do you find your enthusiasm's improved because you are choosing

:12:32.:12:33.

and picking tournaments? I don't know, it's about getting the balance

:12:34.:12:38.

of enjoying stuff. It's been fantastic. Next year they are going

:12:39.:12:44.

to co-do five or six tournaments, I'll be playing in those. I've been

:12:45.:12:49.

up since 8 o'clock waiting to play snooker. Killing time is a difficult

:12:50.:12:52.

thing. It's like, if you have something to do while you are at the

:12:53.:12:55.

tournament you can take your mind off it. If you can go into all the

:12:56.:13:00.

matches, whoever match it is, if you can treat it like any normal day,

:13:01.:13:05.

going down the club having a practise, you would play better. I

:13:06.:13:08.

didn't practise before today because I thought what's the point, ten

:13:09.:13:12.

minutes, you know, you ain't going to become a better player in ten

:13:13.:13:16.

minutes, have faith and trust, if you get beat so what, I wasn't going

:13:17.:13:25.

to go home until I had my Chinese though. Happy Gathering, it's great.

:13:26.:13:30.

Fantastic. Other Chinese restaurants are available. Ronnie, see you in

:13:31.:13:33.

round three, thank you very much, well done today. Smoothly through.

:13:34.:13:38.

Thank you. We are going to take you to table two, right now, where

:13:39.:13:43.

Matthew Stevens is hoping to join fellow Welshman Michael White in

:13:44.:13:46.

round three, along with Ronnie as well of course, playing Martin

:13:47.:13:54.

O'Connell who put out the world number 18 -- Martin O'Donnell.

:13:55.:13:59.

Matthew Stevens having been 2-0 down is now 3-2 up.

:14:00.:14:07.

He was looking very worried when he was 2-0 down at one stage, but to be

:14:08.:14:15.

fair, he's done well to get right back into this match. It did look

:14:16.:14:19.

like there was a chance him going two to three frames behind. He

:14:20.:14:23.

managed to pinch the frame and has played very well since. So Martin

:14:24.:14:30.

O'Donnell now. He's got a lot to ponder whilst sitting in his seat

:14:31.:14:34.

waiting for Matthew to come back into the arena. Very good young

:14:35.:14:38.

player. Had a couple of good wins last couple of weeks. Qualifies for

:14:39.:14:44.

China and had a very good win yesterday. What Communications

:14:45.:14:45.

Workers' Unioning, Terry? What do you think, Terry? He's been

:14:46.:14:59.

earning enough money to get by and doing different things. Matthew

:15:00.:15:03.

Stevens is back into the arena. One frame in front.

:15:04.:15:13.

I alwaysth always find it's better to be one frame in front when you

:15:14.:15:24.

are out for the match. It helps. A few good wins and scoring a lot

:15:25.:15:26.

better. Cushion for safety. You want the

:15:27.:17:01.

white to go in-off, obviously. Terrific shot. He knew if he missed

:17:02.:17:54.

he was going to leave a nice easy opportunity to the left corner.

:17:55.:17:58.

Very good chance. 30-40 points sitting here.

:17:59.:18:19.

Good to see Matthew Stevens back playing somewhere near his best. Too

:18:20.:18:27.

good a player to be in the doldrums like he has been the last couple of

:18:28.:18:33.

seasons. He hasn't really competed at the business end of tournaments.

:18:34.:18:45.

I thought he was certainty to become world champion a few years ago, lost

:18:46.:18:48.

in a couple of finals. Never say never. As the years roll

:18:49.:19:07.

past, it gets that much harder. Yes. Also had a few personal problems

:19:08.:19:12.

over the years and that doesn't help when you are on the circuits and

:19:13.:19:13.

things. So much talent. His two lads are with him today.

:19:14.:19:37.

They've grown a bit. Time goes by, as they say. They're handsome, the

:19:38.:19:44.

pair of them! They won't be struggling to find a wife when they

:19:45.:19:46.

get older, I can tell you! He's got the class to win

:19:47.:21:15.

tournaments still. Bringing a few reds into play.

:21:16.:21:47.

Didn't want to remove the reds. Into the balk now off the blue.

:21:48.:22:20.

Amazing when you lose your position on the blue, it plays tricks on your

:22:21.:22:29.

Palestined. -- on your mind. Doesn't put you off a great deal.

:22:30.:22:36.

Very well played. That could be a clincher there. Go into the pack

:22:37.:23:03.

here and it could be all over. Clash he's been a little unfortunate

:23:04.:23:37.

here. Looking to see if he could get through to the left centre red. That

:23:38.:23:41.

wasnd kind, the split on the red was good but the cue ball is stuck to

:23:42.:23:47.

one of them. He thinks he can get through to it. Well, he could and

:23:48.:23:55.

he's made the pot. Great shot. Very close. Couple more

:23:56.:24:17.

reds and colours. One more good shot. Good positional play.

:24:18.:24:22.

Needs this red to go in. Probably off two cushions for the black.

:24:23.:24:28.

A lot higher on this black than he would have liked, but just got to

:24:29.:24:38.

make sure of the pot. I think he can just about miss this

:24:39.:24:55.

red. No problem there. This is it, frame ball.

:24:56.:25:26.

Good time to start playing well, isn't it? He's looked very

:25:27.:25:36.

impressive here, Matthew. Wasn't a great chance to play, few awkward

:25:37.:25:40.

positioned shots that he got himself into. He'll be delighted. He hasn't

:25:41.:25:50.

been at his best. Matthew Stevens wins this match

:25:51.:26:38.

against Martin O'Donnell by 4-3. What a comeback from Matthew

:26:39.:26:58.

Stevens, 2-0 down at one point if that game ah 4-2 win to take him

:26:59.:27:04.

into round three, so he joins Michael White in making it through

:27:05.:27:08.

to the last 32 tomorrow and we'll grab a quick word, we hope, with

:27:09.:27:11.

Matthew Stevens very shortly before we go off air here on BBC Two Wales

:27:12.:27:16.

this afternoon. That, Willie, is the sort of thing that'll give you that

:27:17.:27:20.

extra bit of confidence when you are 2-0 down and wrap it up like that?

:27:21.:27:24.

Matthew is undoubtedly a great, great player. Anyone who's won the

:27:25.:27:29.

Masters is a very, very good player. He's been missing for four or five

:27:30.:27:33.

years, looks like he's slimmed himself down, he's been a bit more

:27:34.:27:37.

dedicated now. I don't know how much he's practising but to come back

:27:38.:27:41.

through that match, as you say, from 2-0 behind, then make the wonderful

:27:42.:27:45.

break shows you he's somewhere near his best again. At his age, he's not

:27:46.:27:49.

going to play the snooker he did ten years ago but he can be a match for

:27:50.:27:53.

anyone on his day. We are seeing Ronnie, John Higgins of course who

:27:54.:27:59.

is doing very, very well, and Mark Williams, albeit playing poorly

:28:00.:28:02.

yesterday doing well at the age of 40, do you think we can see Matthew

:28:03.:28:05.

getting back to where he was ten years ago? Absolutely. If thing is

:28:06.:28:10.

with this game, you cannot take the game lightly. If you don't practise,

:28:11.:28:15.

you won't get the results. Even two or three hours a day, keep yourself

:28:16.:28:20.

cueing well, making 100s. Don't be frightened of a shot. If you don't

:28:21.:28:24.

practise, you play shots that sometimes you are anxious on and

:28:25.:28:27.

you've got to put the work in. Mark Selby is here again now, he's not

:28:28.:28:32.

playing until 8 o'clock tonight but he's been there all day. If you want

:28:33.:28:35.

to be in the top 16 of the world, you have to practise and hopefully

:28:36.:28:40.

Matthew is doing that now. Different approaches isn't it, we have Mr

:28:41.:28:45.

Selby practising behind us and Ronnie O'Sullivan admitting he

:28:46.:28:49.

didn't practise at all before his whitewash earlier on. Matthew

:28:50.:28:53.

Stevens will come in in a second, he's through to the third round,

:28:54.:28:57.

we've got Michael White as well through to round three, so it's a

:28:58.:29:04.

good tournament. You meventioned the older ones, Michael White is going

:29:05.:29:07.

through and it's nice to see him playing well again. Where've you

:29:08.:29:12.

been? Just praying. -- playing. That is a question that

:29:13.:29:17.

Willie was asking, where have you been over the last few years, do you

:29:18.:29:20.

feel you are getting back to somewhere near your best kind of

:29:21.:29:26.

form? I've been really inconsistent. I play a good match, like in

:29:27.:29:34.

Sheffield last year, I played Mark Williams, won 10-2, then I go

:29:35.:29:40.

missing for a bit. But I've been working hard on my training and

:29:41.:29:45.

obviously playing a lot of snrooker, but I'm feeling good so hopefully I

:29:46.:29:49.

can keep playing like that. You look like you've lost a bit of weight?

:29:50.:29:54.

Yes, I've been training for the last eight or nine months, four or five

:29:55.:29:58.

times a week. And you are enjoying playing again because that's the key

:29:59.:30:03.

with this game isn't it? We saw Stuart Bingham yesterday, the world

:30:04.:30:06.

was on his shoulders for some reason, you have got to enjoy it

:30:07.:30:08.

haven't you? Yes, Danny Wells has just moved to

:30:09.:30:20.

the club and got me motivated again, we're on a level par now so

:30:21.:30:23.

hopefully he can do well week as well. Yes, I'm enjoying it. Jamie

:30:24.:30:33.

another Welshman, says he is doing yoga and running, you said you are

:30:34.:30:36.

training, what sort of things are you doing to keep in shape? A of

:30:37.:30:42.

everything, running, I've got a personal trainer as well, so I'm

:30:43.:30:46.

enjoying that. Just a bit of everything. Keeping me fit and I

:30:47.:30:52.

feel a lot better for it as well. When you say you have gone missing,

:30:53.:30:56.

what do you put it down to, those little lapses? It doesn't take much

:30:57.:31:01.

these days, you lose a few matches, close ones, then you are fighting

:31:02.:31:06.

for the win again. Hopefully this week now, I was 2-0 down there, I

:31:07.:31:13.

played great the last three frames. A few good long ones as well to get

:31:14.:31:21.

in. The confidence is there, so hopefully I can keep it going. As

:31:22.:31:26.

you know, Matthew is one of the game's great players, came along

:31:27.:31:29.

with the late great Paul Hunter, they were unbelievable young

:31:30.:31:33.

players. You don't lose knowing how to play but it is just finding it

:31:34.:31:38.

sometimes. As Matthew said, sometimes it is the frame of mind,

:31:39.:31:41.

if you are in a bad frame of mind like Stuart Bingham yesterday, you

:31:42.:31:45.

will not win. It is unpredictable right now, the whole thing? Yes,

:31:46.:31:53.

especially best-of-7s, it is tough. The European Tour as well, bests. It

:31:54.:31:59.

doesn't take much for your confidence to be low -- best-of-7s.

:32:00.:32:04.

You look at the ranking something, what is happening here? It is more

:32:05.:32:12.

mental than anything, I think. My fitness will hopefully keep my

:32:13.:32:16.

mental strength good, so I'm enjoying it again. You had a good

:32:17.:32:19.

win over Ronnie O'Sullivan last year in the Welsh Open to get through to

:32:20.:32:24.

the last 16. I hope I'm not playing him again, the way you played today!

:32:25.:32:32.

Were you on the next table? Yes! He played four frames, never went in

:32:33.:32:35.

and out of baulk in those, that is how good he was. I saw him play at

:32:36.:32:42.

blue in baulk. That was probably the exhibition shot at the end! Well

:32:43.:32:47.

done today, we will see you in the next round.

:32:48.:32:50.

Let's update you with a few selected round two results.

:32:51.:32:58.

Anthony Hamilton put out the world champion Stuart Bingham, and he has

:32:59.:33:08.

also beaten Allan Taylor. John Higgins is having a good tournament

:33:09.:33:14.

so far. Luca Brecel, the surprise package of last year's tournament,

:33:15.:33:18.

one of them, a 4-3 this afternoon over Mark King.

:33:19.:33:35.

We saw Matthew Stevens there, we have another Welshman for you

:33:36.:33:40.

tonight, Mark Williams against Rod Lawler. We will see whether Mark

:33:41.:33:44.

Karren Brady 's game to get through to round three and joined Matthew

:33:45.:33:47.

Stevens and Michael White, who are already three.

:33:48.:33:52.

Let's get some expert views on Mark Williams from Messer 's mercy,

:33:53.:34:00.

Hendry and Doherty with their views on the world number one -- Messers

:34:01.:34:07.

Murphy. Twice a Masters champion, UK

:34:08.:34:13.

Champion, world champion. While spotting machine, Mark Williams,

:34:14.:34:17.

went through a phase of being the Welsh wobbling in the jaws machine,

:34:18.:34:21.

then did something about it, went back to the practice table and has

:34:22.:34:25.

gone back to form. Great potter, supremely confident, looks like he

:34:26.:34:30.

could not give a monkeys when he comes around the table! Never looks

:34:31.:34:35.

under pressure at any time, and that would wind you up! You would think

:34:36.:34:39.

you have him at one stage then he would dribble in a long ball, and

:34:40.:34:44.

other frame gone. You could pull him in all sorts of positions and he

:34:45.:34:48.

would find a way out or a great long pot and drop it in most of the time

:34:49.:34:54.

dead weight. You can get 100%. If you missed it, it could have been

:34:55.:34:58.

game over, but more times than not he got the bigshot and that is why

:34:59.:35:04.

he has been at the top of the game for so long. A wonderful player over

:35:05.:35:09.

many, many years and one of the still remaining standing order

:35:10.:35:12.

generation of players, if you know what I mean. In his prime, I reckon

:35:13.:35:17.

he was as good as it got under pressure. Nobody, I think, was as

:35:18.:35:23.

good as him from in front and behind, didn't seem to make a

:35:24.:35:27.

difference where he was. He could still pot the frame ball and he's

:35:28.:35:30.

doing a good job of keeping those pressure shots together even now. It

:35:31.:35:35.

gets harder as you get older, he is doing a great job of that. When his

:35:36.:35:39.

back is against the wall and he has his opponent in trouble. And he is

:35:40.:35:46.

not afraid to turn down at Digby thinks it is dangerous. As a poker

:35:47.:35:51.

player, he would know when there was a chance it could go wrong. I'm

:35:52.:35:56.

going to look forward to this bit, lets rip him to pieces! What is

:35:57.:36:00.

wrong with him, apart from the haircut now? I've got more than him!

:36:01.:36:05.

No, what is it about him that could be better now? Messed around with

:36:06.:36:10.

his cue is a bit, I didn't like that. I think it was in vogue for

:36:11.:36:16.

players to start messing with their cues. The problem with Smart is he

:36:17.:36:21.

still thinks and plays the way he played 15 years ago. Every now and

:36:22.:36:26.

then the balls don't go in like they did, he still hangs his hat on going

:36:27.:36:30.

for the long red, leaving the white in the balls, but now sometimes they

:36:31.:36:34.

don't go in with the frequency that they used to, perhaps takes on a bit

:36:35.:36:39.

more damage than he ever did. But when he is on, he is one of the most

:36:40.:36:44.

dangerous players we have got. The only thing I think you made a bad

:36:45.:36:47.

decision on was messing around with cues. Other than that, he has been

:36:48.:36:55.

fantastic in his career. Does anyone know why he did it? No!

:36:56.:37:03.

That is the experts' view on Mark Williams, and he will certainly need

:37:04.:37:06.

to be on because I think you said Willie that you have not seen him

:37:07.:37:11.

play as bad as last night? He is one of my top five all-time players, but

:37:12.:37:16.

he had a bad day at the office yesterday and still won. Sometimes

:37:17.:37:19.

your B game has to come through, I would make it his Obama game

:37:20.:37:25.

yesterday but he got through, his opponent did not punish -- I would

:37:26.:37:36.

make it his gene that G game. Rod Lawler, you would have to say he is

:37:37.:37:41.

a journeyman, but he will be a hard man to beat, though Mark Williams

:37:42.:37:43.

should come through. It has been quite an afternoon with

:37:44.:37:47.

one thing then another, we have seen Judd Trump go through, a snooker

:37:48.:37:51.

masterclass from Ronnie O'Sullivan. I wonder what is in store to night?

:37:52.:37:56.

Can Mark Williams raise his game to join Matthew Stevens and Michael

:37:57.:38:01.

White in round three? We will see later on. See it live with us at 7pm

:38:02.:38:09.

on BBC Two Wales. For now, thank you for your company, goodbye for now.

:38:10.:38:16.
